1. Compulsory Voting Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of compulsory voting can be a challenging task that requires careful
consideration of various perspectives and arguments. The difficulty lies in navigating through the
intricate web of political, ethical, and social implications associated with mandatory voting.
Firstly, one needs to delve into the core principles of democracy and individual freedom,
exploring whether compulsory voting aligns with the fundamental right to choose or infringes
upon personal autonomy. This involves a nuanced analysis of the balance between civic duty and
personal liberty, making it crucial to present a well-reasoned argument.
Furthermore, the essay must address the potential impact of mandatory voting on voter turnout
and political engagement. One must grapple with the question of whether forcing citizens to vote
fosters a more informed and active electorate or leads to apathetic and uninformed decision-
making. This requires extensive research and critical evaluation of existing studies and real-world
examples.
Additionally, the essay should consider the logistical challenges and feasibility of implementing
compulsory voting in diverse political systems. This involves examining the potential for voter
coercion, the practicalities of enforcement, and the cultural implications of such a mandate.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on compulsory voting demands a comprehensive exploration of
political theory, ethical considerations, and practical implications. It requires the ability to
synthesize complex information, present compelling arguments, and engage with
counterarguments. Overall, the task is intellectually demanding but offers an opportunity to
develop a nuanced understanding of democratic principles and civic responsibility.

2. Correlation Between Satisfaction And Pain Intensity
The considerable interest in satisfaction related to pain as an outcome variable waned
after investigators studied postoperative and cancer patients and found poor
correlations between satisfaction and pain intensity. In these studies, patients
commonly reported moderate to severe pain ( 4 on a 0 10 scale), but indicated they
were satisfied with their painmanagement (Cohen, 1980; Dawson et al., 2002;
Jamison, Taft, O Hara, Ferrante, 1993; Miaskowski, Nichols, Brody, Synold, 1994).
These findings are counter intuitive, and authors have speculated about explanations
for the inconsistency. Not many authors, however, have considered the validity of the
satisfaction item. Most investigators measured satisfaction with pain management,
not pain intensity, but the former is a vague concept that could be interpreted many
ways. A few investigators measured satisfaction with pain relief or satisfaction with
pain level in small samples (Corizzo, Baker, Henkelmann, 2000) and did not observe
the inconsistency that investigators observed when measuring satisfaction with pain
management. Canceris a common health problem frequently associated with pain
and is an important illness condition for studying patient satisfaction. The incidence
of patients with cancer is on the rise both nationally and worldwide with projected
global numbers for 2030 at 21.4 million new cases and 13.2 million deaths per year
(Boyle, 2008). Pain is a major symptom in 40 50% of newly diagnosed patients

Wayne County and Ohio departments of health want people to know vaccinations are
still available.
The Ohio Department of Health reported 396 new flu associated hospitalizations
during the fifth week of flu season, one more than the 395 reported for the fourth
week of flu season.
In Wayne County, 29 people were hospitalized in January for the flu, Patient Care
Director Susan Varnes, R.N., said. The hospitalizations are primarily from the elderly
and the young, two groups associated with higher risks of contracting the flu, Varnes
said.
There have been 2,075 total flu associated hospitalizations since flu season began
last October across the state. During last year s flu season, Ohio had 3,633 total flu
associated hospitalizations, and 9,374 two years ago, according to data from ODH. ...

4. sports stadium financing in the 1990s Essay
INTRODUCTION
The sentiment can be heard in any office break room, local tavern, or play field.
The utter discontent of the increasing cost of attending professional sporting
events. Distain ranges from players salaries to cost of parking and concessions.
One local newscaster, channel 5 in Chicago, Illinois April, 2003, reports that for a
family of four to attend a major league baseball game on opening day costs between
$160 and $200 dollars.
The precursor to this cost was a decade of skyrocketing salaries and the trend to build

5. Carthage In Greek And Roman Empires
In ancient history when empires were emerging, it seemed like if a nation wanted to
become the world s superpower, they would have to have knowledge of who else
was rivalling their strength. Rome had done a good job conquering and colonizing
areas that are now known as southern Italy but began to want power outside the
country (Morey, 1901). Carthage, which is modern day Tunisia, also started amassing
power and expanding and was considered the prominent force on the western
Mediterranean (Carthage, n.d.). Carthage and Rome were seen as nearly equal forces
but their strengths were very different from one another (Morey, 1901). It was the
power struggle between these two nations that led to the development of Rome s navy.
Carthage was known
6. The Decision Tree Algorithms And Grows The Tree By...
This is a pedagogical algorithm, which extracts the rules in the form of decision
trees. This is similar to most of the decision tree algorithms and grows the tree by
recursive partitioning. At every step it stores a queue of leaves that can be further
expanded to sub trees and this process is repeated until a stopping condition is met.
Traditional decision trees methods have a limited number of training observations. So
they only have fewer number of observations to decide upon the splitand leaf node
class labels but on the other hand, Trepan re labels the original observations to the
classifications made by the network. And the relabeled data will be used for the tree
growing process. Additionally it can also add extra data points by mimicking the
behavior of the network. It uses the network as an oracle to answer the classification
queries about the newly generated data points. This way it can make sure that
whenever a split node or leaf node class decision is made there are at least S_(min )
number of data points. Where S_(min )is a user specified number. Whenever we
generate new data points at any particular node, we have to make sure that they
satisfy all the constraints from root to the current node. One of the approach to
distribute the data points over a network is to employ uniform distribution, but
Trepan takes into account the distribution of data i.e. at each node it estimates the
marginal distribution of data. If the data at the input is continuous then it
7. Why Was Plane Manufacturing Important In Ww2
When my brother and I built the first man carrying flying machine we thought that
we were introducing into the world an invention which would make further wars
practically impossible. Orville Wright, 1917. Sadly this was not the case. Over the
span of World War II, because the technology was so new and could work well,
planes were used heavily and mercilessly and because of this, more than half a
million people died or were lost in combat. During the war, airplane manufacturing
was important to both the Axis and Allied powers. Various types of planes were
produced during the war for their different abilities and uses. During the war, plane
manufacturing was important to both the enemies and allies. Most manufacturing
plants were a main target for the enemies, and for the US, on missions. If the US
could take out manufacturers it would slow down the production of enemy planes
and give us an advantage. In terms of America s own production rates, they
skyrocketed in only 5 years. In less than 5 years aircraft manufacturing went from
41st place in America industries to first place, because of the war. Shadow factories
were a major idea that arose, mainly in Britain, to be able to meet the urgent need
for airplane parts. These factories were basically car factories, which helped make
airplane parts, and were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

8. How Democracy Can Be Divided Into Separate Different
Types
Democracy can be divided into separate different types. Presidentialism is a
democratic type of government where president is either the head of state or a
representative to the parliament. There are also hybrid regimes that combine
different type of democracies to best fit that country s needs. In other words, there are
many types of democracies, although this essay will focus on three types of
democratic systems: the presidential system, the semi presidential system, and the
parliamentary system. As for countries that are transitioning from authoritarianism to
democracy, they need a type of government that would not bring a sudden change to
the political status quo, for it could be devastating, but also slowly, yet steadily,
introduce democratic type of governing. It would also need to be resilient to a
collapse of democracy and be just at the same time. This essay will try to cover types
of democratic systems, including both positive and negative sides, and explain what
sort of democratic government would be the best for a country transitioning into a
democratic state.
To fully analyse what form of executive would be for a country that is transforming
into a democracy, what types of democratic governing there are and what executive
elements they use. There are more than several types of democratic governing that

main executive power. The president in such state can veto legislative
9. Breast Cancer Staging At Cancer And The International...
Breast Cancer Staging Breast cancer is staged using the American Joint Committee
on Cancer and the International Union for Cancer Control classification system for
tumor, nodes, and metastases (TNM) (Esserman, 2013). The first part of the tumor
staging system, as seen in Table 2, assesses that of the primary tumor itself by means
of clinical breast exam and imaging studies and is represented by the letter T on the
staging table. Mammogram is an essential part of assessing the primary tumor,
however other modalities previously discussed including ultrasound and MRI is often
essential (Esserman, 2013). Evaluating lymph nodes surrounding the breast is a
crucial component of staging and is thought to be one of the most important aspects
in relation to prognosis. The letter N on the staging table represents this component. It
is also of utmost importance to evaluate the nodes by radiologic means because
physical examination alone is indeterminate of metastasis. The last component is
metastasis, represented by an M on the staging table. Often, many patients with breast
cancerare diagnosed with the cancerconfined to the breast and without node
involvement. In that case, those patients are not often evaluated or staged for the
presence of metastatic disease. However, those that do present with signs and
symptoms of metastatic disease or with locally advanced cancer (T3 or greater, N2
or N3, M0) are evaluated for this component (Esserman, 2013).

10. Strategic Leadership
A. Describe strategic leadership in detail, the traits of strategic leadership, how they
differ from strategic management, and discuss the importance of strategic leadership
for the competitive success of a firm.
Strategic leadership is difficult to describe as a concept; however it is easy to
distinguish when it is in action. Leaders pay close attention to small details to ensure
that the big picture may one day become realized. Strategic leadership is being able to
develop competencies for dealing with extensive, new challenges of leading in the
industry that they are in. In an attempt to define strategic leadership I begin to define
the word strategy. Strategy is a plan of action for accomplishing a goal. Strategic ...

It seems that a leader has better interpersonal skills that enable them to get others to
do what they wish more easily. Both managers and leaders strive to achieve their
organizations goals however each tries to accomplish these goals differently. For
example a leader gives his followers empowerment which enables them willingly
follows and have a personal stake in acquiring those goals. A manager uses their
organizational power to dictate what should be done and when. Their authority
expects complete compliance from their subordinates. Managers and leaders scan
their external and internal environments for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and
threats (SWAT analysis). Each motivates their subordinates in a different manner.
This is the point where leaders and managers get defined. If others internalize the
organization s goals and believe that they can help achieve them through hard work,
they have been inspired by leaders. If they are given orders and expected to comply
automatically, they are under the authority of a manager. The importance of strategic
management results in good organization conditions that include the devotion of its
employees to work hard and have good work ethics. They feel part of the
organization s success when it reaches its expectations.

11. The Securities Market Regulators Revealed Three
Surprises...
The securities market regulators revealed three surprises during 2000 with varying
degrees of favorability for the standards developed by the IASC. First, the SEC
examined these standards carefully and questioned their forcefulness and worth (Zeff,
2012). Only a few months later a committee of the IOSCO recommended that its
members should accept financial statementsprepared using IASC standards for use by
investors in their respective capital markets, however the committee tempered their
recommendation by sanctioning reconciliations between standards, additional
disclosures, or specifying the use of certain alternatives (Zeff, 2012). Finally by mid
year, the EU mandated the adoption of IASC standards for all consolidated financial
statements issued in the EU by 2005 (Zeff, 2012).
Furthermore in May 2000, the IASC ratified a new constitution and restructuring plan
to address some of the issues that had detracted from their credibility since its
inception, including its part time staff (Zeff, 2012). These events culminated the
ownership of the IASC by the accounting profession worldwide (Zeff, 2012). Similar
surrenders by national groups of accounting professions had occurred previously in
the U.S. in 1973 when the APB turned standard setting over to the FASB and in the
U.K. in 1990 when the Accounting Standards Board succeeded to the Accounting
Standards Committee (Zeff, 2012). In April 2001, the first official meeting of the

13. The Pros And Cons Of Gay Adoption
An estimated 65,000 adopted children are living with homosexual parents
(Tavernise). That s about fifteen percent of the total number of kids in the foster care
system. For ages people have been against homosexual adoption because they think
only heterosexuals should be able to adopt children. Fortunately, as of June 2015,
homosexual adoptionis legal in all fifty states. Just imagine if the thousands of kids
did not have a home just because homosexuals were not allowed to adopt. That
would be 65,000 more kids who do not have a home or live in foster care. Some
adolescents might even live out on the streets or in unsafe places. Although many
may think that same sex couples are unfit to raise and adopt kids, children of same
sex couples are actually happier and healthier than when raised by heterosexual
couples.
For many, the thought of there being a child with two mothers or two fathers is
simply atrocious. Some people do not think that homosexuals are fit for the role of a
parent. According to Gary Glenn, Direct consequences of homosexual behavior
experience dramatically higher risks of domestic violence, mental illness, and
substance abuse, thus putting children in danger. However, many studies have shown
that this is not the case. An individual s sexual orientation does not affect the risk of
getting the behaviors listed above. Any person is susceptible to having a disorder.
Glenn also vocalizes that Children of homosexuals are more at risk for anxiety,
depression, OCD, and bipolar disorder. This is a very dramatic statement, again
considering anyone could have one of those disorders, regardless of their parents
sexual orientation. Alternatively, studies have shown that homosexual people make
for quality parents. For example, Sabrina Tavernise suggests that homosexual parents
are actually more affluent and educated than heterosexual parents. Those attributes
are very helpful, especially when raising children. The benefits of homosexual
adoption far outweigh the negatives in this circumstance.
Children of homosexual parents are prone to be more happy than those of
heterosexual parents. There are numerous positive impacts for the children. Various
studies have been done to show the impacts. Of 77

Think”....
Option 1 The way we speak determines how we think . Critically evaluate this
statement, drawing on the key theories and research that describe the relationship
between language and thought. Language has traditionally been characterized by
Philosophers as a cognitive tool used to freely externalize ones thoughts (Green, 2010
as cited in Kaye, 2010). The relationship between language, thought, culture and
reality has occupied the minds of many for centuries. Early theorists argued that
language and thought were two separate systems which enter into an array of
interconnected cognitive structures (Chomsky, 1983). Extreme nativists and
constructivists are key proponents of innateness and argued that knowledge and...

Criticisms of his theory are highlighted as complete disregard for meaning and the
social aspects or environment at which a child first acquires its words. Other
critiques look at evidence produced by children with a hearing impairment.
Questions surround what kind of parameters they would apply when using sign
language. If Chomsky s (2006) theory is to be correct then, it does not explain how
children who learn two languages at once can apply parameter settings (Messer, 2000
cited in Green, 2010). Contrasting with the nativist approach, linguistic determinism
argued in support for the notion that language influences or even determines how we
speak. These ideas were first presented in the early 1930 s by Edward Sapir and
Benjamin Lee Whorf, who studied how languages vary and proposed ways that
speakers of different tongues may think differently. Due to lack of empirical evidence
at the time, their ideas of determinism (Whorfian hypothesis) were rejected but later
reinstated with a weaker, less controversial notion of linguistic relativism, suggesting
how language influences thought rather than determines it. (Green, 2010) Firstly
many of the early studies supporting Whorf s hypothesis derived from studies of
colour perception and naming. Brown and Lenneberg, (1954) found cross cultural
differences in the speed of colour naming and recognition, related to colour terms in
different languages, though the study found correlations rather than a

The past two and a half weeks have been an adventure for me, with Spies...Like Us:
Cold War Literature being perhaps my most engaging and interesting class this
term. Each day I ve learned something new, and I ve observed from a distance our F
period class evolve. Through watching others receive criticism and ridicule, and
experiencing such ridicule myself on certain occasions, I hold the firm belief that
this course has succeeded, and far surpassed my expectations, in its experiential
learning aspect. On Wednesday, November 29, the first day of English for the winter
term, I remember walking into the classroom and being told to push my chair away
from the Harkness table for not wearing red. That day, we watched a documentary on
the Iron Curtain, and I had taken notes with my notebook in my lap quite an
uncomfortable experience. After classes that day, I had assumed that the wear red
policy was a practical joke an introductory activity and I left my calendar for the
next day blank. When I walked into the classroom on Thursday, I immediately
knew I had made a mistake. For a second day in a row, I was exiled from the
Harkness table. As I stared at the chalk board that class period, I vowed to myself
never to make the same mistake again. From then on, I have had a calendar entry
for every English day that reminded me to wear red. That Thursday was the last
time I neglected to wear red to English class this past Turkey Term. Although I only
had a few pieces of red clothing,

that it might become possible sooner than you would think. With the rising
popularity of CRISPR since its potential was realized by Doudna and Charpentier

affordable, too. The technology not only can, but has been used to modify the
genomes of bacteria, plants, monkeys, pigs, rats, mice, and more (Reis, Robb,
Tzertzinis, 2014). The process is mainly used to edit genes causing inherited
genetic disorders, but has also been used to edit genes to give the offspring more

Certainly, we know that not all natural things are good, but we also know that not
all unnatural things are good either. Is genetic modification as good as something
like medicine, or is a vile abomination to manufacture ourselves? I would argue that
not only is it a good thing, it is necessary to the progression of our species. We
know that our children will be greater than we are, so we should embrace that idea
to the fullest extent. With this technology, we can make future generations bigger,
stronger, healthier, and more intelligent than we could possibly imagine, and they
could do the same with their children. We can remove genetic disorders, create
minds brighter than our own, and drive ourselves forward as a species with this
technology. This is not an opportunity that we can pass up. We are just years away
from this technology becoming a reality, and despite the United States ban on
federal funding for research on the topic, that will not stop progress from being
made. Scientists will simply search for private funding or move to a country that
supports the research. They are only delaying the inevitable. The idea may seem
strange to some, but all new things seem strange at first. Many will disagree with it,
as people do with all new changes, but I assure you that genetic modification will
change the world for the better. With the advancements in
17. Symbolism In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Goblin Market tells the story of two devoted young sisters, Laura and Lizzie. Goblin
men curse one sister after offering her special fruit, and the other sister must face the
goblin men to save her sister from certain death (Rossetti 1 567). Poet Christina
Rossetti employs a significant amount of symbolism in her work, Goblin Market.
Examples of symbols used in the poem include fruit, Lizzie, goblinmen, and money.
First, fruit is a symbol in Goblin Market. At the beginning of the poem, the goblin
men advertise the fruits they are selling:
Come buy our orchard fruits,
Come buy, come buy:
Apples and quinces,
Lemons and oranges,
Plump unpecked cherries,
Melons and raspberries... (Rossetti lines 3 8)
Laura is seduced into purchasing these fruits from the goblin men. She sucked and
sucked and sucked the more/ Fruits which that unknown orchard bore;/ She sucked
until her lips were sore (Rossetti 134 136). I believe that the fruit is a symbol for
sin. Laura knows that she should not be indulging in the forbidden fruit, but her
desire for the fruit prevails over her caution of the goblin men (Rossetti 69 106).
Lizzie warns her from listening to the goblin men (Rossetti lines 48 49). Just as Eve
in the Bible eats the forbidden fruit, Laura eats the fruit as well. Eve becomes cursed

19. The Role Of Social Stratification In The 17th Century
The economic affairs of the 16th to 17th century England a period where England
experienced extreme population growth encouraged the migration of more than half
of the English population west across the Atlantic . In addition to its population s
growth, England was amid a civil war and a revolution during 1642 1660, that
consequently propagated waves of political and economic refugees, finding their way
to the Caribbean, to escape from the nation s civil conflicts . Taking note of the ways

that private men and companies secured the right from the crown to claim and settle

least five of the eight United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
United Nations Millennium Development Goals are as followed: eradicating extreme
poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender
equality and empowering women, reducing child mortality, improving maternal
health, combating HIV and AIDs, malaria and other diseases, ensuring environmental
sustainability, and developing a Global Partnership for development. Photovoltaic
cells based on quantum dot technology, nanocrystals for hydrogen creation and the
production of hydrogen storage systems based on carbon nanotubes would
significantly improve environmentally sustainable development (Heller, Jacob, and
Christine Peterson). Although hydrogen is an alternative to fossil fuels, it formation,
storage and conversion to electricity as facing technological challenges. However, in
the use of water as a renewable resource to produce hydrogen, the uses of nanocphoto
catalysts have shown promise., argued Karunaratne,
22. Analysis Of Claude Debussy s Canope
Claude Debussy was a leading composer of the early twentieth century known for
his impressionistic style and use of non traditional scales and tonalities as well as
chromaticism. Debussy s Book of Preludes are some of his most well known and
last works for solo piano. Prelude 10, titled Canope in his Book of Preludes No. 2
was composed in 1913. It is meant to depict an ancient Egyptian city and Egyptian
burial urns. Although only thirty three measures long, and melodically and
rhythmically simple, this piece is harmonically complex and dauntingly beautiful.
Several small sections make up the form of this piece. By comparing each section
based on musical elements such as melody, harmony, rhythm, and texture, and by
analyzing elements of 20th century music, such as pitch centricity and reference
collections, we will have a better understanding of this work and how it tells the
story of an ancient world. The piece written at a slow tempo and has a meter of 4/4
throughout. It has a soft and small dynamic range, moving between pianissimo and
piano, and a light texture. The piece is written with three staves in order to clarify
and neaten Debussy s notation. The piece has a B flat in the key signature,
suggesting D minor. The piece mainly centers around the pitch D. Canope could be
considered in ternary form, with section A (mm. 1 7), B (mm. 7 26) and section A
(mm. 26 33). It mostly follows an additive process in which motives are not
developed, but instead placed

White. White everywhere. White men everywhere. White men with new idea
everywhere. These are the thoughts running wild in a person s mind who has never
seen a person with white skin and when they begin to bring new things and ideas
their thoughts begin to build. In Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe what seemed
to be a normal day in Umuofia turned into a day of new faces and later to come, a
new clan. As white men arrived they brought many things from their culture and at
the beginning they seemed to be making a difference for a more positive society but
readers quickly find out that these things were only brought to manipulate the Ibo
people into doing the desired actions of the white men. The first men to arrive in

One thing especially was their hope for change. Achebe leads us into a gathering

against the white men when some court messengers arrived and Okonkwo had

Descended twice and the man s head lay beside his uniformed body...Okonkwo

because they had let the other court messengers escape... He heard voices asking:
Why did he do it, (204 205). Once Okonkwo had killed the court messenger and
realized that the others had gotten away he instantly lost all hope. In his state of
distress he had no clue where to go or what to do so finally he decided to run back
to his compound. To our surprise we find that he had hung himself, he did it because
he thought there was nothing left he could do and most readers could agree with him.
The new men had taken over everything and Umuofia was not the town he once

Suppliers would be another example of someone who would have a primary interest
in a firm accomplishing its objectives. Starbucks currently uses a supplier diversity
program by actively seeking diverse owned businesses to buy from ( Supplier
Diversity, 2014). All businesses in the United States or Canada, who are certified
as diverse by a third party company are eligible to apply for this program ( Supplier
Diversity, 2014). This method gives Starbucks an excellent opportunity to have
suppliers come to them rather than having to go search for suppliers themselves.
They can then look at the options from the applicants and choose a supplier with the
best price and quality while also giving back to minority owned businesses. Overall,
this is an excellent program that Starbucks should continue to use their K cup
suppliers.
Competitive Environment There are many competitors in the coffee industry today
that also offer products for Keurig coffee machines in local grocery stores. Starbucks
states, Our primary competitors for coffee beverage sales are quick service
restaurants and specialty coffee shops (Starbucks, 2014). Dunkin Donuts is one of the
biggest coffee chain competitors that also use K cups to branch out to more

Dunkin Donuts has added over 790 stores worldwide, and their annual revenue has

A true friend is someone who is there for you when he d rather be anywhere else.
This quote explains that a friend needs to stay by your side even on the bad times.
This shows how Ginny always stayed by Smitty and how she was helping him.
Ginny was a coward person at the beginning of the chapter I m a coward, and I ve
faced it, and I ve learned to accept it. She s also a curious person I m feeling very
sorry for myself. Ginny moves to a different town and she didn t have any friend in
the beginning of the school year. That change Ginny to be a different person. In
chapter six, she tells smitty, in feeling very sorry friendly. When ginny goes to go

Question: Examine the process of state creation in India through the lens of the short
story Toba Tek Singh written by Saadat Hasan Manto
Toba Tek Singh, a story about India s partition after independence written by Saadat
Hasan Manto, gives the readers an insight into the harsh realities of the process of
state creation. Through the non judgmental and sardonic tone of the narrative, Toba
Tek Singh compels the reader to think deeper about India s birth as a nation. India s
partition into two different countries purely on the basis of religion (Manto, 2011,
p. 70) gives us a reality check into how willing we are to accommodate diversity.
Toba Tek Singh urges the readers to ponder over the fact that state creation is an issue
beyond the mere geographical demarcation of borders, because it does not account for
the unquantifiable sentiments that the process affects, as well as propagates.
State creation involves political ideas and the struggle for power taking precedence,
with little or no regard for the opinion of citizens. This means that the state is not
being conceived as the sum total of its people and their interests, but a framework
within which power can be exercised. This is evident in the very first line of the
story which says that India and Pakistan had decided to exchange their lunatics, in
the very same way in which they had exchanged their criminals (Manto, 2011, p.70).
It seems like people are being

CNF Prompt #2 Going to a sporting event can differ depending on the the people I go
with. For example, I will be referring to a Minnesota Timberwolves game. When I go
to the game with my family we all have a great time. My brother and I love
basketball as it is our favorite sport. My mom played in college and loves the game.
My dad will do whatever the rest of the familylikes, because he likes to have family
bonding time. Watching the game with my family would not be a party, but more
like a nice evening to relax. We would know what we are talking about and
understand what is going on. It is just good family time. If I go to the game with
Sam and Devin, they would cheer as sports fanatics because they live around sports. I

28. Dealing With Formative And Summative
Dealing with formative and summative can be a difficult task that can have a
confusing definition. Over the past years both assessment are well balance
assessment systems that gather very important information. These assessments are
for students achievements to strive to highest to success of learning. In this paper I
will provide information that will distinguish the different roles of each education
assessment in schools. It will provide studies of assessments related to subjects when
preparing the quality and access of education. Assessment systems are generated in a
timely matter that provides information in the educational system to the next level on
a large scale. When dealing with high quality scale assessments are for a purpose.
Assessments can be sometimes not helpful sometimes when teachers improve their
instruction to modify their method to students. Students will take assessments at the
end of the school year when instructor activities are completed. Then it comes to a
point when teachers will not receive test scores and goals until later, as the students
have moved to the next grade level. And thirdly, the results that teachers receive
usually lack the level of detail needed to target specific improvements (Barton, 2002;
Kifer, 2001).
Many assessments are for improvement for students learning in tests, writing, and
other assessments when teachers administer students in class on a daily basis. When
teachers approve of the different results they are directed

As Stephen King once said Our emotions and our fears form their own body, and
we recognize that it demands it s own exercise to maintain proper muscle tone...But
anticivilization emotions don t go away, and they demand periodic exercise. In the
film Silent Hill, directed by Christophe Gans, a nine year old girl named Alessa is
forced to live a life of torment. Alessa s fear and pain never left but instead grew.
Alessa as a result allowed her darkest emotions to split from her physical body
creating a doppelgänger of herself; Dark Alessa. The darkest side of her own soul
promised to make everyone who ever hurt her fall into her darkest dreams. A
systematic exposure to hatred and maltreatment led Alessa to give up her
innocence and invest herself fully to seeking revenge. As a baby Alessa was born
to be condemned as being a bastard child and a witch. Being that she was born out
of a wedlock (parents who were not married at the time of the child s birth)
relationship. Alessa grew up alone in the world; at school her classmates picked
on her, the townspeople hated her, and even family rejected her as being apart of
the family. In the film Alessa s classmates are seen picking on her. Not being able
to fight back or defend herself she runs to the girls bathroom to find sanctuary.
Believing that she is now safe behind the locked door she quickly realizes that she
isn t alone. She notices that the janitor named Colin was also present. Before the

30. Argumentative Essay On College Textbooks
College Textbooks
College Textbooks are required in nearly all college level courses. A typical student
usually buys three to four textbooks for each of his or her classes. The cost of the
college textbooks however, continue to increase in price which results in a variety of
problems students must face. Tyler Kingkade a professional editor and journalist
quote that, College Textbookprices have increased faster than tuition, healthcare costs
and housing prices, all of which have risen faster than inflation. As a result, each year
students carry the burden of having to buy textbooks each quarter while
acknowledging the fact that college textbooks continue to increase in price. Colleges

In the current era, faced with expensive tuition, students are typically taking out
loans and grants in order to pay for their tuition. John W. Schoen, an award winning
journalist and economic reporter, in his article Why does a college degree cost so
much? shows: The average cost of tuition and fees at a private, non profit, four year
university this school year was $31,231 up sharply from $1,832 in 1971 1972 (in
current dollars). At public, four year schools, tuition and fees cost about $9,139
this year. In the 1971 school year, they added up to less than $500 in current
dollars, according to the College Board. (Schoen June 2015) As shown, the average
amount a student pays for college tuition is extremely high and to add the price of
textbooks to that budget is unsettling. As a result, students are faced with grim
decisions when paying for their tuition as well as the price of college textbooks.
Furthermore, some of the decisions that students make include not buying the
textbook altogether. For instance, in a government PIRG report, Fixing the Broken
Textbook Market, a statistics showcasing students reveals that, 65 percent said they
had decided against buying a textbook because it was too expensive; Nearly half (48
percent) said the cost of books had an impact on how many or which classes they
took; 94

Slumming It For two weeks, Kevin McCloud visits one of India s largest slums,

largest and most densely populated place, with one million people living in a one
square mile area. Kevin experiences living in slum where water is contaminated,
sanitation is basic and disease is abundant. Libertarianism is defined as allowing
people to live as they please, without interference from others. I believe Dharavihas
both negative and positive consequences of Libertarianism. The positive
consequences of Dharavi are that it is a highly organized place with thousands of
industries within offering their residents employment. Dharavi also offers a sense of
spirit and community despite the daily hardships these individuals face. Another
positive of this community is the recycling industry they have created; recycling 80
percent of the city s plastic waste. Another positive is the very low crime rate within

To them this is their home, where they have grown up, where their lives are; family,
friends, work and social life. However, I believe there is one major alternative that
exists to better the lives of the people of Dharavi. The main issue the people of
Dharavi would like addressed is improvements in drainage, sewer, and water. With
these major improvements would also come major improvements in their livelihood,
better health and sanitation. Other alternatives like high rise apartments have been
proposed for redevelopment, however, the people of Dharavi are against this as they
will lose decades of traditions, cultures, and history that have been created. The best
solution would be to improve the drainage, sewer, and water systems for this
community to preserve their culture and

The Inventions of Leonardo Da Vinci Everyone knows Leonardo Da Vinci for his
Last Supper Painting and the Mona Lisa. Not only was Da Vinci a painter he was
also an inventor. He had a fascination for planes and other unique things. He made
the designs for things like guns and planes that we use for our military and did not
even know he was the first with the ideas of these inventions . He made designs for
four flying machines such as the anemometer and the parachute. He made designs
for four war machines such has the crossbow and armed car. He made designs for
five innovations such the clock and the colossus. And last but not least, he designed
two water machines such as the scuba gear.
As I stated in the previous paragraph Leonardo Da Vinci had a thing for planes so he
decided to a make a design for the anemometer. If you did not know what this
device does, it helps measure the speed of wind. Though Da Vinci did not invent
the anemometer, he did however make many variation from the original one
invented by Leon Batista back in 1450. Da Vinci s design for the anemometer had
an arched frame with a rectangular piece of wood hanging from the piece of wood.
So everyone know that when jump out of a plane, you need a parachute. Most people
think that Sebastian Lenormand designed the parachute well guess what they are

33. Summary Of Rebel Music By Daniel Felsenfeld
Rebel Music by: Daniel Felsenfeld
1.) Music clearly means a lot to Daniel, as stated in his passage. Daniel talks about
how he came from the least musical of families growing up, however, his mother
signed him up for piano lessons anyhow. Daniel played the piano for quite a while,
but eventually quit and worked in piano bars and theater orchestra pits at seventeen
years old. Daniel stated some afternoons he would go to his friend Mikes house
and listen to popular bands. One day, mike asked if he wanted to hear something
wild . The something wild was Beethoven s Ninth Symphony. I think this is a point
where the significance is clear. Daniel said that day was when he thought he
actually heard music for the first time. Daniel took mikes tapes and listened to
them in secret. He would blare Beethoven on the way to school, and quickly
change it to KROQ while pulling in. Daniel was so in love this new genre of music
he discovered, he decided to become a composer. He put in all the hard work: studied
scores, read biographies, and got a serious piano teacher. Now Daniel lives in New
York and is a composer of classical music for NewMusicBox. If Daniel never
listened to the something wild he might have never had this future of becoming a
composer.
4.) if I were going to design a visual for this essay it would be an eighth music note
surrounded by guitars, fire, and anything that represented heavy metal music. I would
do this because in the passage Daniel talks about how

School is in session! However, it is not the students who are in need of instruction, but
the teachers! That is the message found in the infamous and controversial letter to the
Hebrews , one of the newest documents from the growing religion known as
Christianity. According to the writer, the Christians that he is writing to (those who
converted from Judaism) should be teachers, but are instead the ones needing
instruction. This Christian religion, known as the church of Christ , is experiencing
rapid growth despite the large amount of opposition it is facing. It seems that this is
largely due because of the concerted effort that the Christians are making to teach
their religion to everyone in the entire world. But while everything may seem... Show

These people should be growing, but instead they are still as small and as weak in
the faith as they were years ago when they were added the Lord s church. This is
not how it should be! They should already understand that basics of faith, the
resurrection, and these other fundamental doctrines, but we re still having to teach
them on these very things. That s the message that the writer of Hebrews was
trying to get across. In short, these people need to grow up! Having identified this
problem, the Hebrew letter was an attempt to solve this problem. By reminding these
babes of these basic doctrines of the church of Christ, he hoped to be able to move
on to discuss greater things. It remains to be seen whether this will actually solve the
problem.
The Jews, who are very much opposed to the Christians, seem to be hoping that this
problem is a sign of the beginning of the church of Christ s fall. If there s this much
conflict within their own body, a local Rabbi said, then it s only matter of time before
the whole thing comes crashing down!
Will Christianity be able to pass this test, or will they flunk out? Only time will

BC Hydro is a provincial Crown corporation and one of the largest electric utilities
in Canada. It is owned by the B.C. government and the people of B.C. Victoria Gas
Company was founded in 1860, starting the B.C. Hydro legacy. There mandate is
to generate, purchase, distribute and sell electricity (Regulatory Information,

approximately 40 per cent. Therefore, BC Hydro is proposing the Site C project.
The Site C project is favorable to our society because it is beneficial to the British

this is through bundling. Bundling is the practice of individuals coming together and

more information on policies and allows for the interest group to build up relations
which helps them to increase their influence in politics. Having this kind of continuity

41. Neoclassical Theory Of Keynesian Theory
ECOP2011
Where are the Neoclassical elements in the Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis? In
what way does it differ from the Cambridge (UK) view of Keynesian economics?
Intro
The Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis contains theoretical principles and ideas from
both the Neoclassical school of economic thought and Keynes General Theory. The
UK Cambridge Post Keynesian view of economics also contains elements from both
these schools, yet the Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis and the UK Cambridge
Keynesian bodies of economic thought differ in their views, methods and ideas. The
two schools utilise different models to reach the similar conclusion that the economy
will tend towards full employment equilibrium in a long run situation a conclusion
that complements a Neoclassical ideology or perspective of capitalism as a market
based organisation of society s production, distribution and consumption. It can be
argued, then, that although there are several examples of Neoclassical principles
within the Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis, that the general acceptance of a general
equilibrium situation in the long run is the defining Neoclassical feature. The paper
will first examine the Neoclassical elements in the synthesis school of thought, with
reference to its defining IS/LM model, the Phillips Curve and the Solow Swan
Growth model. The UK Cambridge Keynesian school rejects Hicks and Hansens IS
/LM model, and instead utilises proportionately more Keynesian ideas in its body of

narcissistic (Twenge et al. 2008) (Costanza, 2012). Each generation has their own
strengths and weaknesses that come with them. Boomers are stereotypically
described as achievement oriented (O Bannon, 2001), independent, in control of
their own destinies (Mitchell, 1998), respectful of authority (Allen, 2004), loyal and
attached to organizations (Hart, 2006; Loomis, 2000), and diligent on the job (YU
Miller, 2003). Boomers are also often viewed as competitive, and they tend to
measure success materially (Eisner, 2005) (Becton, 2014). This quote describes the
stereotypical description of the Baby Boomer generation;... Show more content on

As a millennial, I do not consider myself to be special , yet, I am confident and
optimistic about my future. Personally, I believe that being confident and
optimistic is a positive trait to have when entering the workplace. They have also
been described as being less loyal, more difficult to retain, more desirous of
meaningful work, more entitled, more casual, and less work centric (O Brien 2013;
Thompson and Gregory 2012; Wesner and Miller 2008) (2014). This is a
generalization, not an accurate statement about all people born in those generations;
this is a fair statement regarding
44. Commentary On The Song Humble And Kind By Tim
Mcgraw
Humble and Kind In today s midst of commotion, many of us seem to forget to
stop, take a breath, and consider the moments that escape our everyday lives. A
result of this includes memories fading due to our hectic schedules. Soon we find
ourselves alone with no one to share our success with. Friends become people
whom you pass by in the shopping mall, or have stalked their pages on social media
and accustom yourself to saying you developed a friendship. Familyevents become a
time to connect with others solely through a reunion once a year. These examples
are few and far between the habitual factors each of us display day in and day out.
It is necessary to set aside an hour of your day to take action and become humble and
kind. Many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that he sends a message to an abundance of people in the song. He stresses
his concerns to a wide variety of audiences, in that we all forget to take a moment
to consider other s feelings and make a difference. A stanza in particular that shows
this is: hold the door, say please, say thank you/ don t steal, don t cheat, and don t
lie/ I know you got mountains to climb but/ always stay humble and kind. In my
opinion, he speaks the truth and lectures that you must hold on to your morals. I
have noticed that many people forget or are too careless to think about others.
Simply holding a door for someone as they walk out, or saying thank you for a
generous act goes a long way. I know I try to make someone s day any chance I
can, I just wish others would put this into mind as well. It reminds us of the
important life lessons and unwritten rules. The song also stresses that although you
may have priorities, don t let those blind you from taking time to focus on others
such as your lifelong friends or family. I have been a victim, as well as been guilty of
participating in these actions. We all become so wrapped up in ourselves.
Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have been given the friends and family we
rely on each

Lymphogranuloma Venereum is an infection of the lymphatic system. It is a long
term infection. Three different types of the bacteria, chlamydia trachomatis, causes
the infection.Although the name sound similar, the bacteria that causes
lymphogranuloma venereum, is not the bacteria that causes genital chlamydia. https:

46. Causes Of Gangs
When the word gangs comes to mind, one can immediately picture a big, tall male
figure often covered with tattoos, piercings, and maybe even a bald headed guy.
One might think that gangs only occur in areas like Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and
areas illustrated in movies. Gangs are also becoming more glorified in the media.
For example, while listening to a rap song on the radio, some sort of gangreference
will come up. Gangscan often target the young and the vulnerable due to many
reasons, such as peer pressure and fear. Also, they may target someone who is in
need and vulnerable for falling into gang violence and actions.
Some of the direct causes for individuals to join gangs are due to the social aspect. It
can be because of the peer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once you re in, there are only two ways to get out: by dying or running (Martinez
Pg 33). Therefore, sometimes young adults or even adults feel pressured to be
involved or to continue being involved in gangs because they have the fear of being
murdered. Sometimes the fear of being left out pressures them into getting involved
in gangs, and they end up leading a violent lifestyle. Since gangs are typically
associated with fear, most individuals can fall into this peer pressure to join a gang
due to fear of the consequences which can range from violence, like threats, to even
their death.
Another aspect of feeling accepted can come from family related issues. Young
people might feel that they don t receive enough support or attention at home.
They may be trying to escape a negative home life, or may be looking for a father
figure. Gangs often make promises to give unconditional support and to become
the family they never had (Why People Join Gangs). In some cases, individuals
who join gangs can be looking for a way out of their home. This can be due to
family issues they are experiencing, or also they may not be receiving attention in
their home. Gangs are often seen in areas where poor living conditions occur and
where social economic statuses are present.Children and teens living in these
circumstances can experience lack of attention simply because the family needs to
work and meet ends meet. This circumstance, which does not seem so malicious, can
leave the
47. Work And Give Thom Space
When I arrive at the office on Monday, I m resolute to focus on work and give
Thom space. Not a problem, since he goes out of his way to avoid me. In the
production meeting, we don t make eye contact. I take a sneak peek to make sure
he s okay. He should be since he s close to hiring another director. And pre
production will go ahead, as scheduled. With the last order of business completed,
Thom and his production team depart for his office. I hurry to mine to phone the
agent who represents the writer of Life in the Fast Lane. I finished the scripton Friday,
and am eager to schedule a date/time to meet with her. Before I get a chance, Harry
delivers the mail which includes several envelopes from agencies. He stands at my
desk... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And soon, the writer shows up unscathed. He pitches a spec about vampires gone
wild. I m amused by his animated storytelling. However, Thom isn t interested in
Gothic. He d pass on it. So, I end the meeting with a handshake. Thanks for coming.
But soon, I have second thoughts. I love vampire stories, in particular, Anne Rice
novels. When his agent phones to follow up, I have him send over the script. I ll read
it and maybe have Harry. Once work is done, I drive to the gym and take a ninety
minute yoga class. And on the way home, I stop at Whole Foods Market to buy
something healthy for dinner. However, by the time I leave the store, I have bags
stocked with lean protein, organic fruits and vegetables and vitamins. On the drive
home, I phone Doris and tell her my resolve to quit eating sugar and drinking
alcohol. She supports me wholeheartedly, and will do the same. At daybreak, I leap
out of bed excited to start our new routine. After coffee, Doris and I bike thirty
minutes longer. And for breakfast, I eat oatmeal with blueberries and drink a
concoction of blended protein powder, assorted fruits and soy milk. When I arrive at
work, I see Sarah with a baby stroller outside Thom s office speaking with Keri. I can
t stop starring and ask Megan, How long has Sarah been here? She arrived before I
did a half hour ago. I m sure she ll come visit you. I don t need much for my mind to
run wild with office
48. The Apocalypse of William S. Burroughs’ Naked Lunch
Essay
The Apocalypse of William S. Burroughs Naked Lunch
The roaring of lions, the howling of wolves, the raging of the stormy sea, and the
destructive sword, are portions of eternity too great for the eye of man. (William
Blake, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, p. 7)
In 1980, William S. Burroughs delivered a speech at the Planet Earth Conference at
the Institute of Ecotechnics in Aix en Provence titled The Four Horsemen of the
Apocalypse .1 In this speech, Burroughs, following religious tradition, says that the
four horsemen of the apocalypse are Famine, Plague, War, and Death and moves on
to prophesise a more contemporaneous apocalypse. In Burroughs apocalypse, War
and Plague, for example, have become allies; this alliance, ... Show more content on

But he was never considered to be an apocalyptist before this speech. As I shall argue
in this paper, in Naked Lunch (1959), Burroughs serves us a naked apocalypse that is
not simply cataclysmic and frightening but eternal, parodic, and comic.
In 1988, Burroughs was asked to write the introduction to a Keith Haring exhibition
catalogue, Apocalypse.2 In it, Burroughs is more specific about his conception of the
apocalypse:
Consider an apocalyptic statement: Nothing is true, everything is permitted Hassan
i Sabbath. Not to be interpreted as an invitation to all manner of unrestrained and
destructive behavior; that would be a minor episode, which would run its course.
Everything is permitted because nothing is true. It is all make believe, illusion,
dream.... ART. When art leaves the frame and the written world leaves the page not
merely the physical frame and page, but the frames and pages of assigned
categories a basic disruption of reality occurs: the literal realization of art... Success
will write APOCALYPSE across the sky. (Burroughs and Haring, p. 1)
If nothing is true then there can be no prohibition and no law and everything is
permitted, and permitted in the form of creative art because only that can disrupt
reality. The effect of Burroughs experiments with writing is to demystify literature as
an institution and to make it available for creative work. Anybody can make cut ups ,

49. Epidemiologic Triangle
As the population ages, home health care (HHC) is increasingly used to reduce
inpatient hospital stays and rehabilitation or nursing home stays. This option
decreases health care costs and provides additional care and comfort for the patient;
however, the patient is at a greater risk for infection. Reducing patient infections and
identifying risks for infection is a significant problem as the trend toward HHC rises
(Shang et al., 2014).
A majority of home health recipients are adults aged 65 and older (Shang et al.,
2014). The cost of individual health care spending for an older adult was $18,424 in
2010, which is 3 times greater than a working adult and 5 times greater than a child.
Nationally, home health care spending in 2012 was $77.8 ... Show more content on

Proper hand hygiene, however, is still the most important practice in infection
reduction (Rhinehart Friedman, 2005). The Joint Commission (2014) identified
proper hand hygiene as the infection reduction practice for its five national patient
safety goals for home health care accreditation standards in
