Advantages Of Porter Diamond Model In Bahrain
A1: Applying Porter Diamond model in Bahrain The National Competitiveness which examines the
ability of a national economy of a particular nation to grow. It is measured through a set of factors,
policies, and institutions that determine a country s level of productivity. However, Michael Porter
assumes that the national competitiveness of businesses is linked with the performance of other
businesses. The Porter Diamond Model or the Porter Diamond theory of National Advantage has
been given this title because all factors that are significant in international business competition
resemble the points of a diamond.

Optometrist Career Research Paper
On belay? Belay on! Climbing. Climb on! As an ametuer rock climber, I am captivated as I learn
the literal and figurative ropes of the sport. Although I am not an adrenaline junkie, my innate
characteristics, learned skills, and inquiring mind propel me to excelling in both the gym and crag.
These characteristics which draw me to climbingalso allow me to become an ideal optometrist. Key
components of rock climbinginclude creativity and attention to detail. Every crevice and rock of the
route must be considered in order to ascend the wall. Sometimes, like in optometry, the path may
not be obvious and special care must be taken to observe every detail to find the best route of
treatment for the patient. In addition, communication is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My desire to become a health professional began as I observed my mom work hard to complete
residency, and then commit her career to providing precise care as a psychiatrist. I too, have the
innate desire to help others and a love of science and the body. My desire to be an optometrist
over other health professions was solidified after shadowing Dr. Stuckey. Over the course of
shadowing, I learned the responsibilities of an optometrist and the rewarding aspects of the
occupation. There is nothing to be taken lightly in giving newfound sight to another individual,
which is by far the most intriguing aspect of optometry for me. As a lover of routine, prescribing
glasses and contacts would be nothing short of enjoyable, however, through shadowing I learned
surprises frequently walk through the door: from pieces of metal in the eye to lens subluxation.
After practicing in a private practice for 40 years, Dr. Stuckey has seen many things in the clinic,
including relationships being built between himself and his patients. He now sees grandkids of
initial patients and knows many on a personal level. The potential to build relationships and a
community while providing care for patients sight consolidates my desire to be an optometrist. In
developing relationships with patients, the patient s needs are better met, and I have the
opportunity to serve a community and meet the needs of a patient beyond their sight. In order to
build relationships and thoroughly care for patients strong communication and leadership skills are

Essay about Structural Change and Australian Economy
Structural Change and Australian Economy Structural change is the change in the pattern of
production in an economy as certain products, processes of production and industries disappear and
are replaced by others. The past century has seen the relative decline of agricultural and
manufacturing industries, and the rise of services and new technology sectors. Structural change
can be caused by a wide range of economic influences including changes in the pattern of consumer
demand and technological change. The speed of structural change depends on the ability of an
economy or industry to adjust quickly. People s natural resistance to change and government
regulation often impedes the process of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deregulation of industries has been an important part of the microeconomic reform policies for the
Australian economy. For example in the agricultural sector, marketing boards which were often the
only buyer and seller of farm output have been dismantled. In the wheat, egg and dairy industries
deregulation has allowed a market economy, free of excessive central control, improve efficiencies
and competitiveness by forcing inefficient operators out of the markets and the remaining operators
to adopt technological change in order to survive. Deregulation has also been introduced in the
financial sector, the transport industry and in the telecommunications industry. In the case of the
telecommunications industry which was once dominated by one monopoly provider, telecom
(Telstra) the market was opened up to Optus and Vodafone before being opened up to full
competition. This competition helped reduce telecommunication costs dramatically, benefiting
many other industries and the overall competitiveness of the Australian market. The improvement
of competition across the whole economy was the main objective of the governments National
Competition Policy. This policy included the Corporatisation and Privatisation of Public Trading
Enterprises such as Australia Post and Telstra, competition reform in the professions, the opening
up of access

Collective Identity And New Social Movements
indicate that both versions should be analyzed to fully understand the phenomenon, and will be
done so through an examination of collective identity and informal mobilization networks.
Collective Identity and New Social Movements
Identity, and more specifically, global identity, is an often contested topic in contemporary literature
on both globalization and new social movements. Critics of globalization cite the loss of localized
cultural identity, especially in developing countries, due to the proliferation of homogenized
Western ideals through advances in communication, as evidence for globalization s destructive
nature (Tomlinson, 2003). Tomlinson (2003) argues that rather than destroying concepts of
personal identity, increased interconnectedness may actually strengthen identity, referencing
Manuel Castells argument that collective identity acts in opposition of capitalist globalization and
asserts individuals control over their own lives (Castells, 1997; Tomlinson, 2003). Theorists have
taken this concept and applied it to new social movement theory by asserting that modern society
has assaulted and muddled the concept of the self, resulting in the necessary pursuit of collective
identity, which is defined as an integrated and continuous social self (LaraГ±a, Johnston, and
Gusfield, 1994). This drive for a collective sense of self, and the power of identity, is reflected in
the increase of social movements related to gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and

Reconstruction Failure Essay
The Reconstruction period is the name given to the time in between 1863 and 1877. This period s
main goal was to reunite the United States of America after the most substantial event of disunity in
American existence: The Civil War. Reconstruction consisted of many proposed plans and attempts
to reinstate the Southern states back into the union. In the early stages, there was some promise as
to what reconstruction had the ability to accomplish, because some political groups had the right
ideas about what was necessary to pick up the fragments of a war torn nation, in order to
reconstruct it into a prospering, free, and equal nation it had the potential to be. This reconstruction
had had few successes and ultimately failed in the end due to... Show more content on

So, where did Reconstruction fail? Rather than a single event, the downfall of reconstruction was
caused by a series of poor policies and decisions. The first attempt at Reconstruction was driven by
the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln believed that it was his
responsibility, and his responsibility alone, to lead the reunification of the United States. In order
to understand his plans, one must understand his motivations as well. Many believe that Lincoln
fought the Civil War to end slavery and start the movement for racial equality, but Lincoln, being
a moderate republican, mainly fought the Civil War in order to maintain a stable economy and
protect the union. The Republican party was founded on the idea of good business and
maintaining a stable economy, therefore all of their interests rooted back to improving business
situations in order to gain wealth and prosper. In an interview with the New York Tribune,
Lincoln is quoted saying My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not
either to save or destroy slavery ( Lincoln s Constitutional Dilemma ). Later on, Lincoln shifted his
viewpoint when he realized, or he was forced to realize, that the United States needed to abolish
slavery in order to protect the Union. This realization came only after almost daily visits from
Radical Republicans or humanitarian groups demanding abolition ( Lincoln s Constitutional
Dilemma ). Since Lincoln s main motivation was

Helicopter Parent And I Don T Apologize Analysis
It s true that different parents have distinct parenting styles. Each child must be disparate from
another due to cultural background and upbringing. Three major parenting styles that have been
around are tiger, helicopter, and free range parenting. In tiger parenting, parents are strict, while
in free range it is just the opposite, parents let loose and let their children be who they are and
allow them to take risks. The article I am a helicopter parent, and I don t apologize by Elizabeth
Fairfield Strokes is an epitome of helicopter parentingand what goes on in a mind of helicopter
parent. Helicopter parenting refers to a style of parents who are over focused on their children,

Being too strict to a child can result in distant relationship between a parent and a child, and
being uninvolved can also have the same effect or worse. Having a healthy relationship with the

Get involved with children s lives enough to help and guide when needed. Helicopter parenting
would benefit in ample ways, in a child s upbringing, perspective, outlook, social behavior, and it
will help developing a healthy and friendly relationship between the parents and the child. It is
better for children to run to their parents every time they need a piece of advice rather than going
to a stranger looking for help, because no matter what, parents will always want the best for their
children and would guide them appropriately. Even though some believe that helicopter parenting
is detrimental, it has proven to be

inorganic compounds, such as salts, they contain a complex ion. A complex ion has a central metal
ion, to which is then bonded with a neutral molecule that forms ligands. In this experiment,
potassium trisoxalatoferrate(III) and potassium ferrioxalate will take part in purifying the product
using recrystallization. A pH titration will be used to analyze the mass percent of potassium and

Igor Stravinsky Rhetorical Analysis
In his derogatory passage, Igor Stravinsky discusses the common views and reputation of orchestra
conductors; he argues that conductors are not musical gods but rather destroyers of musical
compositions and the glory that they are meant to receive. Because Stravinsky is a composer
himself, he has firsthand experience with the relationship between composer and conductor and
has dealt with conductors that have conducted his compositions. Stravinsky s purpose in writing
this passage is to convince the reader of the false perspective they possess of conductors. He wants
to correct these pretenses and expose the façade of conducting in order for the reader to
disassociate the conductor with being the star of the performance and help them focus... Show more

In doing so, he encourages the reader to use the context of the paragraph to look into its meaning.
His placement of quotes around great clearly conveys his sarcastic tone because he is not in fact
praising the conductors in accordance to the like of actors, but, instead poking fun at them. The
conductors do not actually understand the meaning of the music and must therefore adapt the music
to themselves rather than themselves to the music; they are only standing in the way of genuine
music making. Stravinsky also uses sarcasm in the last sentence to further his point by saying that
If you are unable to listen to the music, you watch the corybantics, and if you are able, you had
better not go to the concert. The conductor should not be the star of the performance and, in
showing the audience what they should be feeling, the conductor minimizes the brilliance of the
composition. Furthermore, his bold statements regarding conductors emphasize his dislike for them
because he is figuratively attacking the profession, going beyond just harsh criticism. In using such
bold diction, Stravinsky also manages to convey a sense of informality, creating the illusion that he
is simply conversing with his audience. This in turn helps Stravinsky break down the wall between
author and reader by allowing the reader to relate more to the ideas being

Compare And Contrast Polyp And Hawaii
While most living organisms reproduce during their lifetime, not all have the ability to move
freely in order to complete the process of reproduction. Sessile marine organisms fit the profile of
these organisms, as any sessile organism, by definition, is permanently attached or fixed to another
surface. Due to their sessile nature, coral have the ability to reproduce both sexually and asexually.
Coral that reproduce sexually do so most commonly by way of spawning and brooding, while coral
that reproduce asexually do so through budding and fragmentation. Both modes of reproduction,
both asexual and sexual, have their benefits and disadvantages, but both ultimately lead to the
production of new coral throughout the world.
Asexually reproducing coral do so primarily though budding and fragmentation. In order ... Show

This is considered to be the most common form of asexual reproduction, due to the rather abrupt
formation of new polyp buds, many completing the budding cycle within three to four days, given
the proper conditions. Environmental conditions influencing the production of polyps during the
budding process includes temperature and the availability of food and nutrients for the forming
polyp. Generally, asexually reproducing coral undergoing the budding process first start to divide
and form two different polyp mouths, which clearly demonstrate where the separation will occur.
Once the new polyp grows into the right size, the two polyps will complete division, ending in two
different polyp buds.

DOUGLASS, AN AMERICAN SLAVE. The Explicator 69.2: 86 89. In Peyser s article, The
Attack on Christianity in Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, he argues
that Douglass seems to believe that slavery is not a perversion of Christian doctrine but rather its
perfect embodiment. In the Narrative, Douglass desires to influence his audience beliefs that he is
not against all religions but instead desires to gain their support and raise uncertainties of
Christianity itself. Peyser writes about religion in the Narrative and how Douglass compares it to

This is a direct allusion to the story of Adam and Eve and the apple tree that drew Eve in,
prompting her to make the first sin. Peyser states that in this type of reading, Douglass writes of
the Colonel setting himself up as a god . This also relates back to Mr. Covey, who believes the
same. He truly believes he s a devout Christian because he prays and believes the Bible tells him
that slavery is. Peyser writes that this is interesting because with himself believing him godlike,
and Douglass writing him as a snake, alluding back to Satan in the Bible, Covey both represents
the overseer in terms that suggest both God s omnipresence and Satan s readiness to strike at
every opportunity . He backs up this claim by adding in the quote from Douglass Narrative about
Covey being behind every tree, stump, bush, and window, and then adds, Satan and God show up
primarily as layers of snares and contenders for universal mastery, leaving us with two
fundamentally comparable species of bondage: to Satan on the one hand, to God on the

Shopping Experience With Sprouts Farmer s Market Essay
I split my food shopping between a suburban enclave in Franklin, TN and my parent s country
house in Columbia, TN. There are a multitude of lifestyle discrepancies between suburban and
country living, and I suspected that this would be evident in the retail food options offered.
Columbia grocery stores are either large big box grocers or small regional stores. These stores
historically service more conventional food options. Franklin s larger and more affluent
population allows for more diversity in alternative and health food stores. I chose to observe a
local Kroger Grocery Store in Columbia, and contrasted that shopping experience with Sprouts
Farmer s Market in Franklin. The separate shopping experiences elucidated that retail food
options are contingent on the expectations, comprehension and financial flexibility of the
customers and the stores. I visited the Kroger Grocery Store around eight on Sunday morning.
The patron demographic was primarily older than 55 and African American. The store has
provided groceries for the community for at least fifteen years. The store was clean and
organized, but there was a slight dingy appearance that comes with older stores. The store has
been remodeled and remerchandised, but the dark lighting and worn floors disclose the stores true
age. When you walk into the store you are greeted by a large produce and floral section. The store

How Does Jane Austen Form Fiction
Prejudice Long Form Fiction
Jane Austen AP Lang and Comp
The Author and Her Times Born December 16, 1775, Jane Austen was an English novelist known
mainly for her six major novels, which interpret and critique upon the British society at the end of
the 18th century. Austen s plots often deal with the women s dependence to marry to achieve a
higher social standing and economic security. There is little to no information about Jane Austens
life because only a few letters out of the many survived. Austen attended the Reading Abbey Girls
School, but mostly formed her education at home by reading and self practice. Austen was feeling

In every love story ever written the two lovers go through obstacles to be together. And so, in this
story they must put aside their pride and realize that their prejudices were wrong, for them to
realize the true character of the other person. They must separate themselves from society s norms
and notions and realize that their true love is right in front of them.
In the setting in which the novel was written a person s Reputation was of great importance. For
instance, a woman could get a bad reputation for not adhering to the rules society set for her. See
in the novel a woman was expected to behave in certain ways. Elizabeth strays away from this
idea that a woman should be pleasing and always agree with everyone and such things. Her
character is so spirited in comparison with all other women in the novel, she is a very opinionated
woman who is very frank with her thoughts.
In Pride and Prejudice the lines of Social Class are strictly drawn. The Bennet s are the middle
class with the Darcy s and Bingley s as the higher class. Therefore, the Bennet s are treated as
inferiors. You can see this class bound society clearly in the way Mr. Collins acts to Lady
Catherine de Bourgh. Mr. Collins spends most of his time worshipping the ground she walks on.
And so, he submits to the fact that she is superior to him of lower

The Pros And Cons Of Capitalization
Capitalization
We live in the era of Globalization, which refers to the international integration of goods,
services, people, and money with the purpose of making an area more profitable or productive,
or useful. This term sounds good for everybody. If we exchange all these components, the living
of the global citizens raises, but this is not all true. In fact, this exchange originates more
macrolevel issues globally, and with these problems, also microlevel issues. I m not saying it has
not been an effective way all these past years to benefit the population with a more worldwide
opportunity to success, but has it been addressed correctly? Let s take a look to some of the
problems that overrun our world.
Many nations go blind with the idea of producing more profitable people for their countries
economic growth to the point that they strength up iceberg issues in society, problems that only
their top are known but their bottom are unacknowledged. When we explore these issues deeper we
find that there is an inequality in human rights. One of the main rights that is not given in a same
quality to everybody is education. For instance, students from wealthy families get the chance to go
to good schools and universities, while students living in poverty have minimum chances to go to
good schools or they don t even get the opportunity to attend college, as it has been proven to us in
the podcast Carlos doesn t remember , when Carlos is given the opportunity to attend a

The Power Of Words In Words And Behavior, By Aldous Huxley
Words: so innocent and powerless. As they are, standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and
evil; they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.
Why is it that the power of words can be the most influential impact in building our own reality?
The effects of well chosen words have the power to inform, influence, educate and entertain others.
Their powers are expressed effectively and emotionally in stories, poems, and essays. Words are
what we use to express our self, our thoughts and our feelings. In Words and Behavior, written by
Aldous Huxley, he used multiple literary devices and manages to convey a tone of sophistication.
Huxley s usage of literary devices is so vast that some noticed immediately, while others after ...

At the beginning of his essay, he is comparing the behavior between animals and humans. With
the example of how cats at the spur of the moment, show a sign of hatred to towards another,
while humans, who have a way of expressing themselves act the complete same. The contrast that
Huxley is drawing is that animals don t have a sense of words, they cannot speak and that is the
reasoning to why they react to certain situations. He compares humans to animals since when we
are put in certain situations, we react without thinking about what we are doing, nor we express
how we are truly feeling. The author uses contrast throughout the entire essay and begins to
intertwine the contrast between animals and humans with how words contrast the meaning of
war. Huxley uses the contrast to demonstrate to his readers that yes, animals and humans are very
well alike because humans act like animals when it comes to certain emotions. He tries to make
the point that humans are intelligent compared to animals and we have one of the strongest
powers ever and that is our speech. Feeling and desire provide us with our motive power; words
give continuity to what we do and to a considerable extent determine our direction no matter what
we say or do our words do have

I Am A Soldier And A Good Person
The army has taught me so many great things. It taught me how to be a disciplined soldier and a
good person. I was inexperienced of life before I joined the army. Therefore, I was overwhelmed
of life lessons when I came to basic training. However, I learned the seven army values which were
loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrityand personal courage; I experienced every
value throughout my training process. They help me to discipline myself to be a good soldier and a
good person. The value that I honored most was integrity. I was taught that integrity was doing
what s right, legally and morally. However, throughout my training experience, I understand
integrity as fearless, to tell the truth, responsible for your own action, and hardworking.
Integrity means the courage, to tell the truth. In the beginning of my training process, I was told
to study the seven army values by heart. I didn t understand why my drill sergeants made such a
big deal about those values. The seven words were easy to remember, and we all knew the
meaning of them. However, I changed my mind when I witness Lopez s situation. Lopez ate a

the whole platoon. Lopez was fear of the punishment, so he didn t admit his wrong action. Lopez

Magnet Schools Vs Public Schools Essay
Quality education can make or break a child s excellent future. So, if you are looking to enroll
your child in a good school, it is best to learn the features and benefits of each. Here, we look at
the differences and distinct traits of public, private, charter and magnet school, so you are better
guided on where to send your little one.
Public School
Public schools cater to students in the elementary, middle and high school levels. These are usually
traditional schools and there are guidelines set by the state as to the means of evaluating and
teaching students. Moreover, some public schools accept students depending on the entrance test
scores, and the cut off may be high.
When it comes to the credentials and qualifications of teachers employed in public schools, these
are quite noteworthy. In fact, these teachers are state certified with a bachelor s degree. Once
teachers are certified, it means they have undergone training in the state where they are practicing
the profession. Necessary coursework and student teaching practicum should also be completed
before a certification is granted to teachers. On the other hand, charter school teachers have a more

Another distinct feature of public schools is the diversity of students enrolled. Hence, students are
exposed to an environment that is quite like the real world with different kinds of people from
various races, religion and cultures. Public schools aim to steer clear from racial segregation and
discrimination by accepting students from any type of background. There are also special academic
programs available to learners including environmental sciences and

Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804 1864) is one of the great American short story writers and novelists of
the 19th century. He has utilized many themes in his writings, one example of his themes is the
portrait of female and this is considered as revolutionary for his era. Patricia says Hawthorne has
created a wide range of female characters such as strong, independent minded, self confident and
others types are docile, fragile, and submissive. In addition, Charles Swann posited that some

that Hawthorne in the past been generally accepted as a misogynist, because he depicts negative
conceptualization on his women s image (72). Nina Baym disputes that assumption. She claims the
misogynist label toward Nathaniel Hawthorne is unfair. She further mentions Hawthorne never
viewed women as unimportant people, but rather, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual partners. In
the Nathaniel Hawthorne: A Biography, Arlin Turner demonstrated women often played crucial
roles in Hawthorne s development and they inspired some of the women characters who appear in

Columbus was born in 1451 in Genoa, and it is believed that while growing up he was well

because he expected to find so much more and become a wealthy and notable man.
In his future trips back to the Bahamas, Columbus took natives as slaves and continued his search
for riches. Columbus declared that the natives, ought to make good and skilled servants, and
subject everyone and makes them do what you wished . He treated the indigenous people as
obstacles to his greater task of fame and fortune. Columbus spiraled because he was determined
on finding riches. Since he was so set on the idea of becoming Nobel and titled, he disgraced the
natives and allowed slavery and death to occur. Columbus was so fixed on success and bringing
honor to the Spanish monarchs, that he disregarded his morals to achieve his desires. Ultimately,
there were reasons for his actions, and he wasn t just a terrible person who killed at random.
Columbus did have motives behind his actions, and because of his high regard for wealth and
status, he believed that his actions were necessary.
Christopher Columbus is deserving of judgment for some of his actions to the indigenous people.

Summary Of The Allegory In Aesop s Three Fables
After reading all the fables in Aesop s Fables, There are three fables impresses me most. The first
one is The Mountain in Labor. Nevertheless, my opinion is different from that of the allegory. As
far as I m concerned, preparing well before a coming calamity is better than doing nothing and
just waiting. Taking the agitated mountain for example, loud groans and noises were heard from
the mountain in labor and crowds of people came from all parts to see what the matter was. The
mouse coming out of the mountain is the cause. Nevertheless, I think the people s behavior is
right and reasonable. What if they all had paid no attention to the strange mountain in labor?
Indeed, there is no calamity but just a mouse. However, what if there had been a disaster such as
earthquake? We cannot predict what will happen the next moment and we are not always lucky.
What we should do is to prepare well and act when there is an omen, but not just think that do not
make much ado about nothing. It is not a waste of time but protection for people against being
ruined. The fable reminds me of the earthquake which happened in Tangshan, Hebei about forty
years ago. Unlike the people living around the agitated mountain in the fable, people in Tangshan
paid no attention to the strange things such as the agitated livestock and the well appearing cracks
which were omens of the disaster in which a lot of people died in sleep. As far as I am concerned,
the people could have protected themselves from the earthquake if they had paid attention to the
obvious omens of the disaster. However, it is because they thoughtit did not matter that the
earthquake caused the death of so many people. There is no doubt that the death toll would have
been decreased if more people had attached importance to those obvious omens. That is to say, we
should learn that preparing and acting when an omen appears is better than doing nothing but just
waiting. The truth can also apply to our daily life. What will you do when you are faced with
some abnormal things in your life? Will you pay attention to them or do just like the word Don t
make much ado about nothing ? In my opinion, we should prepare regardless of the things
indicating what is likely to happen

This skewed representation has raised many alarms in outside circles on why the tech industry
deals with such uniformity. In the show Silicon Valley this stereotype of women not being leaders
is subtly perpetuated throughout the series. In episode one we are introduced to two companies
that are competing against each other. The first company is Hooli incorporated which has a male
CEO, looking closely in the boardroom the only gender represented is male, however the only
females present in the office are the female secretaries. The same uniformity is present in the
competing firm, male CEO, male president, male board members, and female secretary. Throughout
the entire first season not one woman holds a position in leadership, and when we are introduced
to a female character she usually holds a position working as an assistant to one of the male
characters. Silicon Valley deals with the issue of not injecting women into higher power position,
unfortunately many of these stereotypes are found in many industries around the world. The
portrayal of women as being incapable of being good leaders leads to a male dominated

coin is too low, no one is going to bother to use it because it cannot buy anything. According to
source #2, the United States Department of Defense deemed the penny not cost effective to ship
because it weighed so much and was worth so little. Foreign military bases use a rounding system
that rounds to the nearest nickel. Source #2 states, The rounding system seems to work well for
the military, and some experts such as Harvard professor N. Gregory Mankiw want to do the same
in the entire United States. . Based on this quote, we can conclude that eliminating the penny would
not have any significant adverse effects as it seems to work well on military bases. In addition to
United State military bases, Canada no longer produces the one cent piece. Jim Flaherty, the
Canadian finance minister, believes that the value of the coin is so low that we find ourselves
throwing them away in water fountains, storing them away in jars, and simply not reusing them as

The United States Involvement During The Vietnam War
The United States involvement in the Vietnam War primarily between the years 1964 and 1968
were brought about by the many hostilities and frustrations predominately based on issues of the
Cold War, communism, the Policy of Containment, and the Domino Theory. When the United
States first got involved in the Vietnam War in the first half of the 1960s, problems had been
ongoing for quite sometime and were continuing to increasingly get worse. Throughout the period
of U.S. involvement in the war, there were many supporters and non supporters that included
various political groups, interest groups, students, Civil Rights groups, and the military. Through
all of the issues of U.S. involvement up to the major events that took place during the time period
of 1964 1968, a great deal happened and the U.S. was unsuccessful in attaining the goal that it
wished to achieve in Vietnam; ending the reign of communism. Arising out of issues originating in
the Cold War and primarily the stopping of the spread of communism, the Vietnam War had a
lasting impact that would never be forgotten. Many Americans believed that the containment
doctrine, which was devised by George Kennan, was the key doctrine that got the United States
involved in the Vietnam War to begin with; however, others say that no president really decided to
go to wage war in Vietnam but instead became involved because of increasing commitment over
many years (Brinkley, 843). From right after the end of World War II in

The Behavioral Perspective Of Human Development
Human development is a process that occurs throughout the lifespan, and lifespan development
theories offer frameworks for which to understand human growth. Different approaches focus on
specific aspects of human life to determine which has the most significant influence on
development. However, one theory usually does not account for all variables of humangrowth so
more than one perspective may be used to analyze development. Two such perspectives, the
behavioral and the contextual, explain development in different ways. The behavioral perspective
focuses on observable behavior, while the contextual perspective focuses on interrelated systems
that influence development. When applied to the case study in the index, the differences in the
behavioral and contextual theories become evident.
The Behavioral Perspective
The behavioral perspective of development suggests that human development can be understood by
observing how people behave in response to environmental stimuli. This theory denies distinct
universal stages in development and insists that environmental factors influence how a person will
change and adapt in their society. From this perspective, people will have positive developmental
experiences if they grow up in a nurturing environment. B.F. Skinner introduced the operant
conditioning theory which asserts that children develop in response to reinforcement or punishment
(Feldman Landry, 2014, p. 15). Reinforcement increases the likelihood of someone

Affidavit Of Probable Cause Summary
The Affidavit of Probable Cause was prepared by Officer S. White. Ofc. White was patrolling his
sector when he observed a black sedan with an expired temporary license and an illegal window
tint. Ofc. White conducted a traffic stop in a nearby parking lot. A black male named Terrence
Noel exited the driver s door and walked to the rear of the vehicle. Noel proceeded to drop a
clear plastic filled with 14 grams of marijuana. Ofc. White called for assistance. Ofc. White then
asked the driver for his license and Noel stated that he did not have his driver s license because he
was under suspension. Ofc. White reported that while speaking to Noel, Noel seemed to be
extremely nervous and shook uncontrollably; simultaneously, Ofc. T. Duncan and Ofc.

The Power Of Destiny In Macbeth
Thesis
Shakespeare s Macbeth details the outside entities which hold complete influence in the title
character s rise to the Scottish throne and his following demise, ultimately arguing that we have no
power to create our own destiny in the real world.
Body #1
In Macbeth, the most obvious entities controlling the title character s fate are the Three Weird
Sisters, meant both in the play and in classic myth to represent weavers of destiny. Evidence of
the sisters ability to manipulate the future indicating that individuals have no control over the
outcome of their lives is abundant in their dialogue. When Macbeth meets the sisters deliberately
seeking wisdom for the future, the first apparition warns him Macbeth shall never vanquished be
until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him. [. (4.1.105 107). When
he asks for one more word, the second tells him Laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of
woman born shall harm Macbeth. (4.1.81 83). Given these excerpts, it is clear the witches are not
independent agents playing on Macbeth s ambition and merely giving him the idea of murder to
become king, but are rather privy to information about his future. The power of the witches goes
beyond their power is limited to being able to foresee events. On the contrary, scenes in the play
highlight the power of the witches to cause mayhem within the lives of people. When the sisters are
first presented in the story, the first asserts I myself have

Metal Death Trap Research Paper
Metal Death Traps How would you feel if someone told you whether you live, or die was
predetermined by a computer program? Self driving cars are becoming more of a reality every day
and the struggle of what it should do in an emergency has become a constant debate of ethics and
morality. English philosopher John Stuart, author of Utilitarianism, believes people should seek the
greatest good of their actions. Meanwhile, German philosopher Immanuel Kant, supports
deontology (the idea that the only true moral action is that which is made absent of any self desire
and will not cause any foreseen harm to another) in his book The Metaphysics of Morals. Although
many people may believe that it is in the best interest for cars to attempt to swerve... Show more

Some people may argue that the value a few lives supersedes the value of the one in the vehicle,
but that idea is denounced by the fact that one cannot determine what would happen if the car is
to swerve. The car could possibly crash in to a building injuring many more inside or cause a
major accident on the road where many more might die. As Mill puts it in his book According to
the greatest happiness principle as I have explained it, The ultimate end. . . ., for the sake of
which all other things are desirable (whether we are considering our own good or that of other
people) is an existence as free as possible from pain and as rich as possible in enjoyments (Mill).
In short, the ideology of utilitarianism means we should seek the least harm possible. This can
only be done if we allow the car to do what cars are designed to do and drive forward. The only
true guarantee that can be made by these vehicles is that the rider will be treated with the upmost
care. Anything outside of this is an uncontrollable variable that may cause more harm than

Endotherm Lab Report
Endotherm are animals that regulate internal temperature at a range dispie ambient temperature
changes. This research will aid to identify how different ambient temperature will affect the mice s
metabolic rate. Previous research suggest that thermo neutral zone is the range which endotherm
conduct metabolic with least stress. However to understand the exact relationship between the
change in ambient temperatureon endothermic metabolic rate, metabolic system measurement
would be carried out to measure the ambient temperature and oxygen percentage. The hypothesis
was that as the mices experiences ambient temperature outside of their thermal neutral zone, then
they will intake more oxygen because more metabolic activities need to take place... Show more

Prior to the experiment, the eight mice were exposed to room temperature for 10 days so all the
mice can adjust to a constant temperature. One thing that s important to understand in order to
measure the metabolic rate is the mouse should not be growing, pregnant, eating, nor very active
during this process. This is because the growing, pregnant, eating and being active requires
excessive amount of metabolic activities. On experiment day, set up the metabolic measurement
setup as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 is consist of a air pump for pumping air throughout the system
for the rat. A drying column to slow down the air movement in the system and to remove the water
molecules or moisture from the air for more accurate oxygen intake reading. Then is the flowmeter
that help to maintain a certain amount of oxygen being pass into the animal chamber. Having too
much or too little oxygen can toxicate or kill the mouse. Therefore to maintain the 400 ppm amount
of air required for the mouse to survive in the chamber, the flow meter is required to maintain
constant observation of oxygen provided for the animal. Then after the flowmeter is followed by
where the animal will be in during the experiment, the animal chamber. Connected to the animal
chamber is the temperature probe for measuring the temperature inside the chamber. Next is the
condenser, which is required to remove the moisture from the air the mouse breath out for more
accurate oxygen intake reading. Then is the oxygen probe sensor that measures the oxygen output
from the mouse and the system ends when the air goes back out into the environment. One thing
wasn shown in this figure is a copper coiler shown in figure 2. The cooper coiler is required to

A Short Note On Lymphoma And Non Hodgkin Lymphoma
Clinically, Lymphoma is split up into two categories. These two categories are Hodgkin s
Lymphoma and Non Hodgkin s Lymphoma. Hodgkin s Lymphoma is quite distinct from Non
Hodgkin s Lymphoma. Hodgkin s Lymphoma has been named after Dr. Thomas Hodgkin, who
was the first to recognize it. This is a cancerdeveloped from white blood cells in the lymphatic
systemknown as lymphocytes (Cancer Center). All other forms are put in the Non Hodgkin s
Lymphomacategory. The lymphatic system is there to help fight infection and disease. The
lymphatic tissues make up a major portion of the lymphatic system which is why Hodgkin s
Lymphoma can start almost anywhere in the body. From here it can easily grow to other tissues
or most commonly, the lymph nodes. The type of cells involved and how spread the growth is
upon diagnosis classifies lymphomas. The true cause of Hodgkin s Lymphoma has remained
unclear. Doctors do know that when this form of lymphoma occurs that B cells have formed a
mutation in the cells DNA, which relays the message to the cell to divide rapidly and live instead
of dying like a normal cell would.
All age groups can be affected by the types of Hodgkin s Lymphoma, which include four classical
forms and one non classical form. Nodular sclerosis Hodgkin s disease, mixed cellularity Hodgkin
s disease, lymphocyte predominance Hodgkin s disease, and lymphocyte depletion Hodgkin s
disease are the four classical forms. Nodular sclerosis is the most common form

The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War Essay
The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War
An estimated 100,000 African Americans escaped, died or were killed during the American
Revolution(Mount). Roughly 95% of African Americans in the United States were slaves, and
because of their status, the use of them during the revolution was inevitable(Mount). This led many
Americans, especially those from the North, to believe that the South s economy would collapse
without slavery due to the use of slaves on the front lines. However, only a small percentage of the
slave population enlisted in either army.
The concept of using slaves as soldiers was hardly revolutionary. Blacks had served our country
with honor and bravery since the country s earliest days. Not only did the ... Show more content on

The British saw Washington s original actions and promised emancipation for all slaves who
fought for England. Washington s position towards blacks had made it clear that the individuals
running the revolution were not interested in black freedom, so the British offer literally produced
a flood of African American volunteers to the British Army. The escaped slaves were not merely
good soldiers; they were passionate and saw the British cause as a way to rebel against their
American masters. Despite being on the losing end of the war, slaves who fought for the British in
the American Revolution mark the beginning of an emancipation movement.
The center of the Southern economy was the slaves and their contribution to the plantation owners.
Southern agriculture was founded on the cultivation of tobacco, wheat, and corn in Virginia,
Maryland, and North Carolina, and of rice and indigo in South Carolina and Georgia. These crops
were cultivated with the help of black slaves, those that were not fighting in the war effort. Slaves
were the only reason there was enough money to pay for the war and political events. As a matter
of fact, most of America s political leaders were slaveholders themselves, including Thomas
Jefferson, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton(Davis 116).

Although I am not an adrenaline junkie, my innate characteristics, learned skills, and inquiring mind propel me to excelling in both the gym and crag. These characteristics which draw me to climbingalso allow me to become an ideal optometrist. Key components of rock climbinginclude creativity and attention to detail. Every crevice and rock of the route must be considered in order to ascend the wall. Sometimes, like in optometry, the path may not be obvious and special care must be taken to observe every detail to find the best route of treatment for the patient. In addition, communication is... My desire to become a health professional began as I observed my mom work hard to complete residency, and then commit her career to providing precise care as a psychiatrist. I too, have the innate desire to help others and a love of science and the body. My desire to be an optometrist over other health professions was solidified after shadowing Dr. Stuckey. Over the course of shadowing, I learned the responsibilities of an optometrist and the rewarding aspects of the occupation. There is nothing to be taken lightly in giving newfound sight to another individual, which is by far the most intriguing aspect of optometry for me. As a lover of routine, prescribing glasses and contacts would be nothing short of enjoyable, however, through shadowing I learned surprises frequently walk through the door: from pieces of metal in the eye to lens subluxation. After practicing in a private practice for 40 years, Dr. Stuckey has seen many things in the clinic, including relationships being built between himself and his patients. He now sees grandkids of initial patients and knows many on a personal level. The potential to build relationships and a community while providing care for patients sight consolidates my desire to be an optometrist. In developing relationships with patients, the patient s needs are better met, and I have the opportunity to serve a community and meet the needs of a patient beyond their sight. • 4. Essay about Structural Change and Australian Economy Structural Change and Australian Economy Structural change is the change in the pattern of production in an economy as certain products, processes of production and industries disappear and are replaced by others. The past century has seen the relative decline of agricultural and manufacturing industries, and the rise of services and new technology sectors. Structural change can be caused by a wide range of economic influences including changes in the pattern of consumer demand and technological change. The speed of structural change depends on the ability of an economy or industry to adjust quickly. People s natural resistance to change and government regulation often impedes the process of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Deregulation of industries has been an important part of the microeconomic reform policies for the Australian economy. For example in the agricultural sector, marketing boards which were often the only buyer and seller of farm output have been dismantled. In the wheat, egg and dairy industries deregulation has allowed a market economy, free of excessive central control, improve efficiencies and competitiveness by forcing inefficient operators out of the markets and the remaining operators to adopt technological change in order to survive. Deregulation has also been introduced in the financial sector, the transport industry and in the telecommunications industry. In the case of the telecommunications industry which was once dominated by one monopoly provider, telecom (Telstra) the market was opened up to Optus and Vodafone before being opened up to full competition. This competition helped reduce telecommunication costs dramatically, benefiting many other industries and the overall competitiveness of the Australian market. The improvement of competition across the whole economy was the main objective of the governments National Competition Policy. This policy included the Corporatisation and Privatisation of Public Trading Enterprises such as Australia Post and Telstra, competition reform in the professions, the opening up of access ... • 7. Collective Identity And New Social Movements indicate that both versions should be analyzed to fully understand the phenomenon, and will be done so through an examination of collective identity and informal mobilization networks. Collective Identity and New Social Movements Identity, and more specifically, global identity, is an often contested topic in contemporary literature on both globalization and new social movements. Critics of globalization cite the loss of localized cultural identity, especially in developing countries, due to the proliferation of homogenized Western ideals through advances in communication, as evidence for globalization s destructive nature (Tomlinson, 2003). Tomlinson (2003) argues that rather than destroying concepts of personal identity, increased interconnectedness may actually strengthen identity, referencing Manuel Castells argument that collective identity acts in opposition of capitalist globalization and asserts individuals control over their own lives (Castells, 1997; Tomlinson, 2003). Theorists have taken this concept and applied it to new social movement theory by asserting that modern society has assaulted and muddled the concept of the self, resulting in the necessary pursuit of collective identity, which is defined as an integrated and continuous social self (LaraГ±a, Johnston, and Gusfield, 1994). This drive for a collective sense of self, and the power of identity, is reflected in the increase of social movements related to gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and ... • 8. Reconstruction Failure Essay The Reconstruction period is the name given to the time in between 1863 and 1877. This period s main goal was to reunite the United States of America after the most substantial event of disunity in American existence: The Civil War. Reconstruction consisted of many proposed plans and attempts to reinstate the Southern states back into the union. In the early stages, there was some promise as to what reconstruction had the ability to accomplish, because some political groups had the right ideas about what was necessary to pick up the fragments of a war torn nation, in order to reconstruct it into a prospering, free, and equal nation it had the potential to be. Rather than a single event, the downfall of reconstruction was caused by a series of poor policies and decisions. The first attempt at Reconstruction was driven by the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln believed that it was his responsibility, and his responsibility alone, to lead the reunification of the United States. In order to understand his plans, one must understand his motivations as well. Many believe that Lincoln fought the Civil War to end slavery and start the movement for racial equality, but Lincoln, being a moderate republican, mainly fought the Civil War in order to maintain a stable economy and protect the union. The Republican party was founded on the idea of good business and maintaining a stable economy, therefore all of their interests rooted back to improving business situations in order to gain wealth and prosper. In an interview with the New York Tribune, Lincoln is quoted saying My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or destroy slavery ( Lincoln s Constitutional Dilemma ). Later on, Lincoln shifted his viewpoint when he realized, or he was forced to realize, that the United States needed to abolish slavery in order to protect the Union. This realization came only after almost daily visits from Radical Republicans or humanitarian groups demanding abolition ( Lincoln s Constitutional Dilemma ). Since Lincoln s main motivation was ... • 12. Igor Stravinsky Rhetorical Analysis In his derogatory passage, Igor Stravinsky discusses the common views and reputation of orchestra conductors; he argues that conductors are not musical gods but rather destroyers of musical compositions and the glory that they are meant to receive. Because Stravinsky is a composer himself, he has firsthand experience with the relationship between composer and conductor and has dealt with conductors that have conducted his compositions. Stravinsky s purpose in writing this passage is to convince the reader of the false perspective they possess of conductors. He wants to correct these pretenses and expose the faГ§ade of conducting in order for the reader to disassociate the conductor with being the star of the performance and help them focus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In doing so, he encourages the reader to use the context of the paragraph to look into its meaning. His placement of quotes around great clearly conveys his sarcastic tone because he is not in fact praising the conductors in accordance to the like of actors, but, instead poking fun at them. The conductors do not actually understand the meaning of the music and must therefore adapt the music to themselves rather than themselves to the music; they are only standing in the way of genuine music making. Stravinsky also uses sarcasm in the last sentence to further his point by saying that If you are unable to listen to the music, you watch the corybantics, and if you are able, you had better not go to the concert. The conductor should not be the star of the performance and, in showing the audience what they should be feeling, the conductor minimizes the brilliance of the composition. Furthermore, his bold statements regarding conductors emphasize his dislike for them because he is figuratively attacking the profession, going beyond just harsh criticism. In using such bold diction, Stravinsky also manages to convey a sense of informality, creating the illusion that he is simply conversing with his audience. This in turn helps Stravinsky break down the wall between author and reader by allowing the reader to relate more to the ideas being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sessile marine organisms fit the profile of these organisms, as any sessile organism, by definition, is permanently attached or fixed to another surface. Coral that reproduce sexually do so most commonly by way of spawning and brooding, while coral that reproduce asexually do so through budding and fragmentation. He truly believes he s a devout Christian because he prays and believes the Bible tells him that slavery is. Peyser writes that this is interesting because with himself believing him godlike, and Douglass writing him as a snake, alluding back to Satan in the Bible, Covey both represents the overseer in terms that suggest both God s omnipresence and Satan s readiness to strike at every opportunity . He backs up this claim by adding in the quote from Douglass Narrative about Covey being behind every tree, stump, bush, and window, and then adds, Satan and God show up primarily as layers of snares and contenders for universal mastery, leaving us with two fundamentally comparable species of bondage: to Satan on the one hand, to God on the ... There are a multitude of lifestyle discrepancies between suburban and country living, and I suspected that this would be evident in the retail food options offered. Columbia grocery stores are either large big box grocers or small regional stores. These stores historically service more conventional food options. Franklin s larger and more affluent population allows for more diversity in alternative and health food stores. I chose to observe a local Kroger Grocery Store in Columbia, and contrasted that shopping experience with Sprouts Farmer s Market in Franklin. The separate shopping experiences elucidated that retail food options are contingent on the expectations, comprehension and financial flexibility of the customers and the stores. I visited the Kroger Grocery Store around eight on Sunday morning. The patron demographic was primarily older than 55 and African American. The store has provided groceries for the community for at least fifteen years. The store was clean and organized, but there was a slight dingy appearance that comes with older stores. Frogs distribution ranges from the tropic to subarctic regions, but most are found in tropical rainforests except Antarctica. They are found in almost every habitation that provides access to water. The world consists of more than 5 200 species of frogs and some still are not yet found (Tyler, Wassersug, and Smith). Some of the countries with the most frog species include Brazil, Colombia, India, Cameroon, Madagascar, among others ( Frogs ). In the U.S. we have 90 frog and toad species. However, until recently, whether one lived in a city, a rural, or anywhere in the world, chances were high that an individual was not far away from seeing a frog or other amphibians such as toads, salamanders, and caecilian. What has changed? In the U.S., the reduction of frogs and other amphibians is serious in California, the Rocky Mountains, the Southwest, and Puerto Rico. Other continents such as Australia, ... With the example of how cats at the spur of the moment, show a sign of hatred to towards another, while humans, who have a way of expressing themselves act the complete same. The contrast that Huxley is drawing is that animals don t have a sense of words, they cannot speak and that is the reasoning to why they react to certain situations. He compares humans to animals since when we are put in certain situations, we react without thinking about what we are doing, nor we express how we are truly feeling. The author uses contrast throughout the entire essay and begins to intertwine the contrast between animals and humans with how words contrast the meaning of war. Huxley uses the contrast to demonstrate to his readers that yes, animals and humans are very well alike because humans act like animals when it comes to certain emotions. He tries to make the point that humans are intelligent compared to animals and we have one of the strongest powers ever and that is our speech. • 34. Summary Of The Allegory In Aesop s Three Fables After reading all the fables in Aesop s Fables, There are three fables impresses me most. The first one is The Mountain in Labor. Nevertheless, my opinion is different from that of the allegory. As far as I m concerned, preparing well before a coming calamity is better than doing nothing and just waiting. Taking the agitated mountain for example, loud groans and noises were heard from the mountain in labor and crowds of people came from all parts to see what the matter was. The mouse coming out of the mountain is the cause. Nevertheless, I think the people s behavior is right and reasonable. What if they all had paid no attention to the strange mountain in labor? Indeed, there is no calamity but just a mouse. However, what if there had been a disaster such as earthquake? We cannot predict what will happen the next moment and we are not always lucky. What we should do is to prepare well and act when there is an omen, but not just think that do not make much ado about nothing. It is not a waste of time but protection for people against being ruined. The fable reminds me of the earthquake which happened in Tangshan, Hebei about forty years ago. Unlike the people living around the agitated mountain in the fable, people in Tangshan paid no attention to the strange things such as the agitated livestock and the well appearing cracks which were omens of the disaster in which a lot of people died in sleep. As far as I am concerned, the people could have protected themselves from the earthquake if they had paid attention to the obvious omens of the disaster. However, it is because they thoughtit did not matter that the earthquake caused the death of so many people. There is no doubt that the death toll would have been decreased if more people had attached importance to those obvious omens. That is to say, we should learn that preparing and acting when an omen appears is better than doing nothing but just waiting. The truth can also apply to our daily life. What will you do when you are faced with some abnormal things in your life? Will you pay attention to them or do just like the word Don t make much ado about nothing ? In my opinion, we should prepare regardless of the things indicating what is likely to happen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I did things a little bit differently when compared to the colonists. I chose to settle Inland, while the colonists chose to settle in the marshes. When I meant the Indians, I chose to attack. The colonists did something similar to what I did. They maintained an unsteady peace with the Indians, but sometimes fought with them. I agreed with the colonists on the structure of the settlement. We both chose to build a wood fort. I also agreed with the colonists on the choice that we both chose to only force indentured servants to work. No other industry in the world has such a skewed uniformity such as the tech world, and no television show captures this uniformity like Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley is based on the Northern California region with the same name which is considered the mecca of the tech world home to large companies such as Apple and Google. This skewed representation has raised many alarms in outside circles on why the tech industry deals with such uniformity. In the show Silicon Valley this stereotype of women not being leaders is subtly perpetuated throughout the series. In episode one we are introduced to two companies that are competing against each other. The first company is Hooli incorporated which has a male CEO, looking closely in the boardroom the only gender represented is male, however the only females present in the office are the female secretaries. The same uniformity is present in the competing firm, male CEO, male president, male board members, and female secretary. Throughout the entire first season not one woman holds a position in leadership, and when we are introduced to a female character she usually holds a position working as an assistant to one of the male characters. Silicon Valley deals with the issue of not injecting women into higher power position, unfortunately many of these stereotypes are found in many industries around the world. The portrayal of women as being incapable of being good leaders leads to a male dominated managerial system. A study conducted by the Wall Street Journal finds that Only ten percent of directors at Silicon Valley are women. (Wells 2) this glass ceiling keeps women from reaching position that they are fully qualified for, just because they are perceived to be ineffective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Penny Synthesis Essay The production of the one cent piece has long been a topic of controversy. Some argue for the penny saying that the penny has been a part of U.S. history for over 200 years; while those on the opposing side argue that eliminating the penny could save retail businesses time and therefore money by saving the time wasted counting pennies at the register. Some argue that we should phase out pennies because the value is so little that no one uses them; In fact, the face value of the penny is so little that it costs more to produce it. Because of the downsides to the continued production of the penny, we ought to phase the penny out. One reason pennies should be eliminated is that they waste the time of retail businesses. The United States Involvement During The Vietnam War The United States involvement in the Vietnam War primarily between the years 1964 and 1968 were brought about by the many hostilities and frustrations predominately based on issues of the Cold War, communism, the Policy of Containment, and the Domino Theory. When the United States first got involved in the Vietnam War in the first half of the 1960s, problems had been ongoing for quite sometime and were continuing to increasingly get worse. Throughout the period of U.S. involvement in the war, there were many supporters and non supporters that included various political groups, interest groups, students, Civil Rights groups, and the military. Through all of the issues of U.S. involvement up to the major events that took place during the time period of 1964 1968, a great deal happened and the U.S. was unsuccessful in attaining the goal that it wished to achieve in Vietnam; ending the reign of communism. Arising out of issues originating in the Cold War and primarily the stopping of the spread of communism, the Vietnam War had a lasting impact that would never be forgotten. Many Americans believed that the containment doctrine, which was devised by George Kennan, was the key doctrine that got the United States involved in the Vietnam War to begin with; however, others say that no president really decided to go to wage war in Vietnam but instead became involved because of increasing commitment over many years (Brinkley, 843). • 41. The Behavioral Perspective Of Human Development Human development is a process that occurs throughout the lifespan, and lifespan development theories offer frameworks for which to understand human growth. Different approaches focus on specific aspects of human life to determine which has the most significant influence on development. However, one theory usually does not account for all variables of humangrowth so more than one perspective may be used to analyze development. Two such perspectives, the behavioral and the contextual, explain development in different ways. The behavioral perspective focuses on observable behavior, while the contextual perspective focuses on interrelated systems that influence development. When applied to the case study in the index, the differences in the behavioral and contextual theories become evident. The Behavioral Perspective The behavioral perspective of development suggests that human development can be understood by observing how people behave in response to environmental stimuli. This theory denies distinct universal stages in development and insists that environmental factors influence how a person will change and adapt in their society. From this perspective, people will have positive developmental experiences if they grow up in a nurturing environment. B.F. Skinner introduced the operant conditioning theory which asserts that children develop in response to reinforcement or punishment (Feldman Landry, 2014, p. 15). Reinforcement increases the likelihood of someone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Power Of Destiny In Macbeth Thesis Shakespeare s Macbeth details the outside entities which hold complete influence in the title character s rise to the Scottish throne and his following demise, ultimately arguing that we have no power to create our own destiny in the real world. Body #1 In Macbeth, the most obvious entities controlling the title character s fate are the Three Weird Sisters, meant both in the play and in classic myth to represent weavers of destiny. Evidence of the sisters ability to manipulate the future indicating that individuals have no control over the outcome of their lives is abundant in their dialogue. When Macbeth meets the sisters deliberately seeking wisdom for the future, the first apparition warns him Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him. [. (4.1.105 107). When he asks for one more word, the second tells him Laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth. (4.1.81 83). Given these excerpts, it is clear the witches are not independent agents playing on Macbeth s ambition and merely giving him the idea of murder to become king, but are rather privy to information about his future. The power of the witches goes beyond their power is limited to being able to foresee events. On the contrary, scenes in the play highlight the power of the witches to cause mayhem within the lives of people. Self driving cars are becoming more of a reality every day and the struggle of what it should do in an emergency has become a constant debate of ethics and morality. English philosopher John Stuart, author of Utilitarianism, believes people should seek the greatest good of their actions. Meanwhile, German philosopher Immanuel Kant, supports deontology (the idea that the only true moral action is that which is made absent of any self desire and will not cause any foreseen harm to another) in his book The Metaphysics of Morals. Some people may argue that the value a few lives supersedes the value of the one in the vehicle, but that idea is denounced by the fact that one cannot determine what would happen if the car is to swerve. The car could possibly crash in to a building injuring many more inside or cause a major accident on the road where many more might die. As Mill puts it in his book According to the greatest happiness principle as I have explained it, The ultimate end. . . ., for the sake of which all other things are desirable (whether we are considering our own good or that of other people) is an existence as free as possible from pain and as rich as possible in enjoyments (Mill). In short, the ideology of utilitarianism means we should seek the least harm possible. This can only be done if we allow the car to do what cars are designed to do and drive forward. This research will aid to identify how different ambient temperature will affect the mice s metabolic rate. Previous research suggest that thermo neutral zone is the range which endotherm conduct metabolic with least stress. However to understand the exact relationship between the change in ambient temperatureon endothermic metabolic rate, metabolic system measurement would be carried out to measure the ambient temperature and oxygen percentage. The hypothesis was that as the mices experiences ambient temperature outside of their thermal neutral zone, then they will intake more oxygen because more metabolic activities need to take place... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to the experiment, the eight mice were exposed to room temperature for 10 days so all the mice can adjust to a constant temperature. One thing that s important to understand in order to measure the metabolic rate is the mouse should not be growing, pregnant, eating, nor very active during this process. This is because the growing, pregnant, eating and being active requires excessive amount of metabolic activities. On experiment day, set up the metabolic measurement setup as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 is consist of a air pump for pumping air throughout the system for the rat. A drying column to slow down the air movement in the system and to remove the water molecules or moisture from the air for more accurate oxygen intake reading. Then is the flowmeter that help to maintain a certain amount of oxygen being pass into the animal chamber. Having too much or too little oxygen can toxicate or kill the mouse. Therefore to maintain the 400 ppm amount of air required for the mouse to survive in the chamber, the flow meter is required to maintain constant observation of oxygen provided for the animal. Then after the flowmeter is followed by where the animal will be in during the experiment, the animal chamber. Connected to the animal chamber is the temperature probe for measuring the temperature inside the chamber. Next is the condenser, which is required to remove the moisture from the air the mouse breath out for more accurate oxygen intake reading. Then is the oxygen probe sensor that measures the oxygen output from the mouse and the system ends when the air goes back out into the environment. • 48. A Short Note On Lymphoma And Non Hodgkin Lymphoma Clinically, Lymphoma is split up into two categories. These two categories are Hodgkin s Lymphoma and Non Hodgkin s Lymphoma. Hodgkin s Lymphoma is quite distinct from Non Hodgkin s Lymphoma. Hodgkin s Lymphoma has been named after Dr. Thomas Hodgkin, who was the first to recognize it. This is a cancerdeveloped from white blood cells in the lymphatic systemknown as lymphocytes (Cancer Center). All other forms are put in the Non Hodgkin s Lymphomacategory. The lymphatic system is there to help fight infection and disease. The lymphatic tissues make up a major portion of the lymphatic system which is why Hodgkin s Lymphoma can start almost anywhere in the body. From here it can easily grow to other tissues or most commonly, the lymph nodes. The type of cells involved and how spread the growth is upon diagnosis classifies lymphomas. The true cause of Hodgkin s Lymphoma has remained unclear. Doctors do know that when this form of lymphoma occurs that B cells have formed a mutation in the cells DNA, which relays the message to the cell to divide rapidly and live instead of dying like a normal cell would. All age groups can be affected by the types of Hodgkin s Lymphoma, which include four classical forms and one non classical form. Nodular sclerosis Hodgkin s disease, mixed cellularity Hodgkin s disease, lymphocyte predominance Hodgkin s disease, and lymphocyte depletion Hodgkin s disease are the four classical forms. The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War Essay The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War An estimated 100,000 African Americans escaped, died or were killed during the American Revolution(Mount). Roughly 95% of African Americans in the United States were slaves, and because of their status, the use of them during the revolution was inevitable(Mount). This led many Americans, especially those from the North, to believe that the South s economy would collapse without slavery due to the use of slaves on the front lines. However, only a small percentage of the slave population enlisted in either army. The concept of using slaves as soldiers was hardly revolutionary. Washington s position towards blacks had made it clear that the individuals running the revolution were not interested in black freedom, so the British offer literally produced a flood of African American volunteers to the British Army. The escaped slaves were not merely good soldiers; they were passionate and saw the British cause as a way to rebel against their American masters. Despite being on the losing end of the war, slaves who fought for the British in the American Revolution mark the beginning of an emancipation movement. The center of the Southern economy was the slaves and their contribution to the plantation owners. Southern agriculture was founded on the cultivation of tobacco, wheat, and corn in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina, and of rice and indigo in South Carolina and Georgia. These crops were cultivated with the help of black slaves, those that were not fighting in the war effort. Slaves were the only reason there was enough money to pay for the war and political events. As a matter of fact, most of America s political leaders were slaveholders themselves, including Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton(Davis 116). The chance of America winning ...
