The Odyssey By Homer Is Considered The First And Greatest...
One man said, All men are created equal ; however, men treat women differently in today s culture.
Society categorizes them as less intelligent, not capable of working in job fields such as construction,
and generally less important than men. Because of these ideas, women do not have the same
advantages as men. The importance is the effect it has on the progression of the future. Today, women
have overcome most stereotypes, but there are still plenty remaining. Most stereotypes originate from
ancient times, for example this theme is seen in the Odyssey, written by Homer, who is considered the
first and greatest epic poet. Women face persecution daily through the media and society, yet the way
society thinks towards them is changing.
In the Odyssey, there is a demeaning description of women. The thought of how evil and useless
women are shows up in all female characters. The main theory is women are possessions or prizes to
be won. They are shown as malevolent, sinister beings with terrible intentions. Starting with Calypso,
Homer describes her as evil and unfair. Calypso takes Odysseus captive and makes him become her
boyfriend (Homer 485). There is no mention of Odysseus wanting to stay; therefore, it makes Calypso
sound worse than she probably is. The reader infers how mean Calypso is when she says, Oh you vile
gods, in jealousy supernal!/ You hate it when we choose to lie with men / immortal flesh by some dear
mortal side [...] Surely I cannot send him,/ I have no

PCA Embolism
Embolism from a cardiac source is the number one etiology of a PCA stroke, as embolism from a
significant proximal vertebrobasilar disease is less common. PCA resulting from the stenosis is
uncommon.
The posterior cerebral artery can be very difficult to diagnose because the etiology of PCA infraction
can t be determined in a quarter of the patients.
There are two main territories for the vascular supply of the PCA. The proximal
PCA territory involves the paramedian midbrain, the medial thalamus, and the posterolateral thalamus.
The distal territory of the PCA stroke is composed of the cerebral hemisphere, occipital lobe, parietal,
and posterior temporal lobes. Proximal atherosclerotic stenosis of the vertebral or basilar artery is a

Three Article Summaries and Analysis
ARTICLE SUMMARIES Article 1 Jobs in jeopardy over background check backlog(Wed,March
19,2014 Toronto Metro) This article is about the catastrophic backlog in the Toronto police
background checks for students who would like to enter the RCMP after they graduate. This is a big
problem for the students and for the RCMP. For the students it means that it will take longer for them
to get the job that they have studied for and will have to wait a while for them to pay off the debt. The
reason why this is a big problem for the RCMP is because they have to do a background check on
anyone. The Toronto police get around 200 new requests for checks each day, which cased the backlog
of almost 17,00 request. Also if the request is the same gender and birthday of a wanted criminal the
RCMP requires finger prints to determine if the person did not change their name without the
government knowing causing a bigger delay because of the amount of people in each province. The
RCMP have to require finger prints from everyone who needs vulnerable sector screening but they
find that it could cause more a backlog for the system that keeps all the records. Article 2 Canadian

difficulty for immigrants to receive a citizenship then how it was. Also that the people who come here

Short Story and Dance Pianist
Status in Two Chekhov Stories In the introduction to our edition of Chekhov s short stories, by George
Pahomov, it is stated that Chekhov s fiction captured the burgeoning Russian democracy and that in
Chekhov s democratic world view, no one was excluded (vii viii). We see these ideals being put
forward in the two stories by Chekhov that we will discuss in this paper. In these two stories, The
Resurrection and The Dance Pianist, we can see how Chekhov depicts a world where the author s own
democratic ideals may be in mind, but which is in reality still very much based on the old fashioned
concepts of status and rank. We will see that both of these stories center around the concept of social
status, especially in the way that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also in contrast to the first story, he is telling the story not to the readers directly, but to another
character, his roommate who is the first person narrator of the story. A third contrast between The
Dance Pianist and The Confession is that in the present story the status change is really a change in
other characters perception of the main character s status, rather than an actual shift in his status. In
The Dance Pianist, the point is centered on a man who is mistaken for someone of more importance
than he really is, and how society tends to treat people very differently based on perception of status.
At the beginning of The Dance Pianist, our main character, Pyotr, a former student, comes bursting
into his room late one night and after some prodding by his roommate tells his story of that evening.
He had been working as a paid pianist for society people at an aristocratic party, and says that he was
kicked out for something that he will soon describe in detail (Chekhov 47). He complains about the
poor way that he is treated by society people, which lays out the foundation for what is to follow: And
what am I, after all? A piano player, a domestic, a waiter that knows how to play the piano. In the
homes of merchants I m addressed as an inferior, given a tip, and no offense intended (p. 48). He
explains that a young woman at the party began speaking to him casually, and he soon

Maust-Mohl s Argument Analysis
The tourism industry regarding animal encounters can harm the animal such as physical beatings,
malnourishment and mental trauma. Hediger agrees when he writes, Trifling disturbances may occur,
for the simple reason that certain innate behavior pattern, adapted for life in freedom, cannot develop
properly under conditions of captivity, or be brought into play, through lack of appropriate stimuli (pg.
29). Basically, Hediger is warning us that putting animals in captivity for our personal pleasure can
harm them in many ways besides physically. Society needs to pay attention to the animals overall
wellbeing to make sure they are treated ethically and with morality. Not paying attention to the needs
of the animals needs during the transition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Writing in the journal, Social and Cultural Geography, Rebekah Fox states that, we need to recognize
the continuity of all life forms and value beings for their own intrinsic worth, autonomy and difference
rather than on the basis of their similarity to humans (pg. 527). In other words, Fox believes that
humans see animals as having both humanistic qualities and having their natural instinct. However, we
need to see all animals as having their own worth, and that no species are the same. Although Fox
does not say so directly, she apparently assumes that humans create these humanistic qualities of the
animal they are spending time with, with their own qualities. Fox agrees when she writes, readings
tend to essentialize animal actions into supposed biological behavior, such as the pack instinct in dogs,
and ignore animal agency and individual interaction (pg. 529). The essence of Foxs argument is that
some literature focuses on the animal s natural instinct instead of the empathy and individualistic traits
they have. While some people rarely admit as much similarity we have with animals, they often take
for granted that humans have the same natural instinct to want to protect their young and defend
against predators. Realizing the similarities humans have with animals the public needs to be more
concerned about the tourism industry and how it greatly affects animals lives. The

Darkness Of Darkness Analysis
As Marlow s shares his story with those listening, or not listening, on the Nellie, he continually points
out the wastefulness the Europeans exhibited in the Belgium controlled Congo region. The first place
he lands in Africa is the Company Station. He witnesses the wastefulness immediately. He saw a
railway truck lying there on its back and personified it as dead as the carcass of some animal (Conrad
19). Nearby were some workers assigned to building a railway who was blowing up a cliff with
objectless blasting (Conrad 19). The adjectives he uses to describe the Europeans actions connote that
this was a waste of energy, brain power, and company resources. As a sailor, Marlow was probably
used to efficiency and maximum production. Being that sailors are out on the sea for long periods of
time, they cannot afford to waste resources because it can endanger the whole crew. This stuns
Marlow. While trying to imperialize the Congo, the government squandered millions on these infernal
and desolate shores , of the millions flung away which brought nothing but wars and disasters of all
kinds (Raskin 122). This was a sentiment shared by a fellow sailor named Rimbaud who also realized
the waste of colonializing Africa. Millions were being squandered on broken trucks, inefficiency, and
the destruction of a land and its peoples just so ivory and status could be gained. Further along the
path, Marlow avoids a hole with a purpose of which I found nearly impossible to

A Young Woman s Fantasy in The Turn of the Screw Essay
A Young Woman s Fantasy in The Turn of the Screw
The Turn of the Screw, by Henry James, is an odd story about a young woman who, leaving her small
country home for the first time, takes a job as a governess in a wealthy household. Shortly after her
arrival, she begins to suffer from insomnia and fancies that she sees ghosts roaming about the grounds.
James is a master story teller and, at times, the complexities of the story make it difficult to follow.
The Turn of the Screw is a story within a story, the tale of the governess being read aloud as a ghost
story among friends. Harold C. Goddard wrote a fascinating piece of criticism entitled A Pre Freudian
Reading of The Turn of the Screw. When applied to the book, his ... Show more content on

She is very excited at this point and one might infer that she is infatuated with her employer. However,
all her hopes of a relationship are unrealistic, as there is a vast difference in class between herself and
the man from Harley Street. Furthermore, her employer gives her strict instructions [t]hat she should
never trouble him (6). So we see that she is never to communicate with the object of her affections
again. At the end of her interview, after she agreed to these stipulations, we are told that when ...he
held her hand, thanking her for the sacrifice, she already felt rewarded (6). This description proves that
the new governess is in love with her employer. Later in the book, during her first encounter with the
ghost of Peter Quint, it is clear that she is thinking of her love as she says that her first shock at seeing
a man in the tower was that it was not the person [she] had precipitately supposed it would be (15). It
is clear that she was hoping it would be the man from Harley Street.
According to Goddard s theory, the ghosts of Peter Quint and Miss Jessel are images conjured up in
the mind of the unstable, young governess. Goddard addresses this issue accordingly. To the reader,
this may seem like a strange notion because the governess is able to give a description of the ghosts
that seems eerily accurate, even though she never saw them before. In the case of Peter Quint, the only
distinguishing characteristic about her

Rhetorical Devices In Julius Caesar
The importance of speech is a necessity when it comes to becoming a great leader his/her words can
make or break their position in the eyes of their people. This is where rhetoric can be significant in this
leader s life their knowledge of rhetoric can drastically improve or dismantle their career. Shakespeare
s ability to slowly mold leaders out of insignificant characters proves to be a very entertaining .
Introducing a character that shows little or no traits of a natural born leaders and putting them in
situations that forces them to reveal how much of an actual leader they actually are. This is what
intrigues about some of shakespeare s plays his ability to develop a character and place him in this
leadership position that ends up being a perfect fit for them. One character that was probably seen as a
unlikely leader and was slowly pushed into a position where his leadership would be of the highest
significance to revenge the murder of his friend was in Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar Antony is
introduced to us as one of caesar s most trusted and later revealed truest friend this loyalty can be seen
as one of the most important leadership traits that antony has. Him being able to stay loyal to his
friend even in the worst of circumstances. However even though his friendship is a vital role and a
fundamental reason that he is put in the spotlight it does not cement him as a key influential leader.

The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air Analysis
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (1960 1996) first aired on NBC in (IMDB). This show focuses on a
wealthy Californian family who takes in their street smart relative from West Philadelphia. Their idea
is to make him a mature and responsible young man but things don t go as smooth as planned. Will
Smith changes the serenity of the upscale environment with his streetwise common sense. A typical
show contains some sort of cultural clash between Will, his uncle Phil and society itself. Learning how
to transition from being in a rough neighborhood to being around people who have a lot of money can
be hard for anybody and there are many things one has to get used to with this transition. Even though
Will becomes part of an affluent family he must still cope with everyday problems and situations.

of changes them all in some way shape or fashion. For instance before will came Geoffrey who is the

will comes along I guess he opened Geoffrey s eyes and made him see that he was an African
American and he didn t deserve to be treated like a slave after all the years of fighting for freedom his
ancestors went through. Another example of Will changing somebody would be how before he got
there Carlton was a good guy and never disobeyed his parents. Will showed Carlton that life was all
about making mistakes and that he needed to stop living like his was afraid and start living like each
day was his last. I guess you can say Will Smith showed everybody who watched the show something;
and that is that even when you have a rough past behind you, it s never too late to learn how to better
yourself and along the way never forget that family will be there to support you the entire

Conversion To Catholic Christianity
Conversion to Catholic Christianity was made by one of the first Frankish kings Clovis in 496, and
such conversion had a profound political influence on the future development of the Carolingians.
During the beginning of the Carolingian dynasty, Pepin the Short, son of the Mayor of the Palace, was
the one who had the real power, but he was not satisfied. He looked for a powerful outside force, that
is Roman Church at this time, to approve his powerful position, since there was no more effective way
than religion to control the beliefs of people. With the help of Pope Stephen, Pepin was the selected
king according to the custom of franks (39). He was holy anointed and confirmed as king by Pope
Stephen in 754, and thus inheriting from God

Anakin s Character In Star Wars
You will know the good from the bad when you are calm, at peace. Passive. (Yoda) It is a constant
battle between good and bad in Star Wars. George Lucas directed this series in a way that shows the
tremendous change in some of the assiduous characters. Anakin s critical moments in his life are when
he becomes a Jedi, then a Sith, and then saving his son from death all throughout Star Wars. Anakin
had a tough childhood and was afford a choice to become a Jedi. Anakin choose to leave home to

for you, Annie; the choice to take it is yours alone. (Episode 1) Qui Gon couldn t get Anakin s mother

Anakin can make hard decisions, even at a young age. After going with Qui Gon to Naboo, droids

PAPER
I personally don t like to eat out much. I only go out and eat when there are any special occasions. The
last time I went out eating was with my boyfriend on our first anniversary. We went to The
Cheesecake Factory which is also on of my favorite places to dine in.
The Cheesecake Factory is very familiar with everyone now. This place is famous for their
cheesecakes as well as the diversity of food to choose from. The Cheesecake Factory was established
in the 1940s by Oscar and Evelyn Overton. Mrs. Overton personally made baked cheesecakes in the

I think anyone can do that, no need to depend on any person. So in case if it was really busy, a single
person cannot prepare cheesecake for all the customers in the same time, others can help. Besides, I
believe ethics are a collection of principles and practices that a business believes in and aims to live
by. The Cheesecake Factory s mission statement and more specific policies about conduct to give
employees, partners, vendors, and outsiders an idea of what the corporation stands for and how it s
staff should conduct themselves. Key areas that are of significant importance to The Cheesecake
Factory start with the general standards of conduct in how all its employees will be treated by fellow
employees and by management. The standards deals the basic values that we all have, with the
expectation of building trust, loyalty, honesty, respect, and a high level of professionalism within the
company. This will create a positive working environment that will uplift the attitudes and morale of
its employees and depending on what your position is could increase productivity and customer
relations. All jobs have a certain amount stress related to it, but having those basic codes of the takes
away a lot the negative personal stress that can arrive on the job.
In conclusion, I still consider The Cheesecake Factory is my favorite place to eat. Even though I had a
bad experience there once, I think that they can improve it better.

Anti Physicalism Research Paper
Physicalism is the view that all things in our mental phenomena ultimately belong to the domain of
physical phenomena. This could mean, that they either are physical, or depend on physical phenomena
s such as neural signals in the brain. Another way to look at physicalism is that everything lies within
the domain of physics, and everything physical is made up of different arrangements of the
fundamental physical elements. The opposite of physicalism would be anti physicalism. Anti
physicalism is a view that some or all, mental phenomena do not always belong to the domain of
physical phenomena. With the basic understanding of these two concepts one can approach the mind
and body problem.
We being humans consider ourselves to have a mind, yet we treat things that may not have a mind
differently. The way we distinguish whether something has a mind or not is often termed the marks of
the mental. There are two properties that almost all philosophers can agree on that are marks of a
mental state. The first property would be, only mental states have intentionally. Intentionality helps
support the anti physicalism view of the mind body problem because of psychological attitudes. These

Poverty Today s Day And Age Has Become More Common Than...
Poverty in today s day and age has become more common than ever before. Poverty involves not
being able to participate in activities that most other people are able to do (Raphael 2015, Lecture).
The topic of poverty connects with inequality, where living conditions produce material and social
deprivation that intensively threaten health and reduce the quality of life for an exclusive subset of the
population (Raphael 2011, preface). For children, this has been a disregarded subject and deserves
much more attention and consideration worldwide. In health, education, and material well being, there
comes this impression of children falling behind (Adamson 2010, p. 1). In a well established country
like Canada, the topic of poverty, as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5). The second dimension of inequality is the inequality in young people s achievement through their
education (Adamson 2010, p. 9). The third dimension of inequality involves three indicators that are
used in children s self reported health complaints; healthy eating; and frequency of vigorous physical
activity (Adamson 2010, p. 13). Through economic causes, its social costs and its possible remedies,
inequality has become a major concern over the last three decades (Adamson 2010, p. 3). Inequality is
an example of the changes in both the ability and effort it provides for further progress in all types of
fields that engage in human endeavor (Adamson 2010, p. 3). Before the economic crisis in 2008,
surveys were conducted to measure inequality and deploy data. Since well being has many
dimensions, survey s were conducted favoring multidimensional measurements (Adamson 2010, p. 3).
In terms of measuring the gap, based on the data that is available, there are two different methods that
are used for approximating how far behind children are being allowed to fall (Adamson 2010, p. 4).
The first method compares the child at the 10th percentile with the child at the 50th percentile. Then
the degree of inequality is measured by the gap in between these two individuals, and that is shown as
a percentage of the median position that exists. The second method compares the level of

Comparison Of The Hundred Year s War Between England And...
There are many events that took place between England and France that built up to what is known as
the Hundred Year s War. William of Normandy s conquest of the duchy of Aquitaine allowed England
to have claim over lands in France. This increased tension between the English king, Edward III, and
the French king, Phillip VI, that would inevitably create a war that lasted one hundred and sixteen
years (Fiero 175).
King Edward III maintained that he held claim to the French throne. When Edward III was only
fifteen years old, Charles IV of France died without a male heir. This left the succession of the French
throne to Edward III through his mother Isabella, sister to Charles IV and daughter of Phillip VI.

From Outrage By Anne Murray Summary
Anne Murray states that, Women s health is so much more than medical issues; it is cultural, political,
economic, and above all, an issue of social justice (From Outrage to Courage, 2008, p.1). Women s
health is an issue of social justice in a sense that fairness and equality should be primordial in the
health care system. Social justice aims to support the wellbeing of all individuals regardless of
differences. Unfortunately, little has been done to promote and improve women s health. An analysis
of social and economic circumstances that affect women s health in development reveals that:
inequality in health care in terms of poor health and poverty affect the health of women. In Amnesty

One of the points mentioned by Anne Murray is how women s health s has been ignored and
neglected. This is a true case. Going back to the olden days and basing my analysis on women as
healers, Witches, Midwives, and Nurses by English and Ehrenreich tells us women s story as health
workers and denounce the history of suppression. Women have always been healers. Even though they
were not licensed with medical degrees, women were nurses and pharmacists. Today, however, the
health care system is a male dominated industry. Because it has become the property of male
professionals, many issues are affecting women and their children. For instance, according to Murray,
female infants and children s access to food and/ or medical care has been neglected because
researchers either view the household as a single entity with uniform internal distribution or treat
newborns as a sex neutral category. This demonstrates that little attention; research and financial
support are given to expand the wellbeing of women and their children. The lack of participation of
women in planning and implementing health care policies and politics has failed to take women s

The War And Plato s Symposium, And The Man Discussed
In two very different works we see two equally different portrayals of the same man; these differences
are informed by the author s purpose, the genre of the work, and the effects of the depiction upon the
rest of the specific work. These works are of course Thucydides , The History of the Peloponnesian
War and Plato s Symposium, and the man discussed is the Athenian giant, Alcibiades of the
Alcmaeonidae. The authors, of course, have their own aims and reasons for writing their works, Plato,
writing an allegory on love likely to defend his teacher Socrates, and Thucydides, to inform on what
he believes to be the most significant war in history. The genres of the works being philosophy and
history respectively also affects the rhetoric of Alcibiades speech; as well as his greater portrayals in
the works. It is important to note the differences in the depictions as they are significant not only to
understanding the literary merit of the works, but also furthering the knowledge with respect to the
author s motives and the state of higher opinion on a maverick of a man in the late 5th and early 4th
Centuries BC in Athens. The first significant variance one must note between the author s works is the
rhetoric and aims of the speeches Alcibiades makes in the two works. In Plato s Symposium all the
major characters are at a dinner party and are giving speeches about eros, the Greek concept of love,
and there is quite an awkward relationship squabble occurring between Socrates and

Essay on America s Endangered Species Act
America s Endangered Species Act
Save the Bald Eagles! Save the whales! Save the Mountain Lions! Such were the environmentalists
rallying cries that brought about the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Although, the first official
endangered species legislation was a 1966 bill that called for saving U.S. wildlife, but lacked the
powers to do so. The Endangered Species Act(ESA) of 1973 set forth the basic rules that apply in the
U.S. today. Two agencies, the Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service, are
responsible for reviewing the status of species in trouble to see if they warrant listing as either
threatened or endangered. The decision is to be based solely on scientific data rather than social
factors, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By pain, I mean to our consciences or if you will our souls. By adopting the Endangered Species Act,
Americans have adopted a simple value theory, when it comes to dealing with other life forms. This
theory is simply pleasure is good and pain is evil. According to this theory, under the Endangered
Species Act, the extinction of any species that would bring pain to ourselves is to be saved and those
that do not hamper our consciences can be done away with.
This is evident from the modern viewpoint of the caretakers and enforcers of the Endangered Species
Act, the Fish Wildlife Services. According to them the Endangered Species Act of 1973, holds that
endangered and threatened species of animal and plants are of esthetics, ecological, educational,
historical, recreational, and scientific value to the nation and its people (Fish Wildlife Service,1989).
Even advertisements and public educational programs to save endangered species, only point out the
value of certain species to mankind. Nowhere is it said that a species should be preserved for intrinsic
values and its right to exist in the world.
For example, the most famous of the American listed endangered species is the Bald Eagle, our nation
s symbol. The loss of these birds would have been painful to our ego and national pride. By placing
the bird on the Endangered Species Act,

Urban Legend Bloody Mary
Children are constantly searching for news ways to have fun. This is the period when children need to
satisfy their craving for excitement by participating in ritual games and playing in the dark. They are
constantly looking for a safe way to extract pleasure and release anxiety and fears (Mikkelson). Many
children find themselves jumping into mischievous behavior to keep themselves busy whether it is
being destructive, pranking a friend, or being apart of ritual games. These are some ways for children
to cope with their boredom.. This is also probably one of the reasons why kids would risk conjuring
up a evil spirit looking for revenge. Mirrors and reflections in general have always been held in fear

Even though some aspects of the original story have changed the story is still being told in countless
versions. Bloody Mary has played on people s desire for excitement and it is also a way to release
anxiety and experience some safe fear. With so much talk about the Bloody Mary legend over the
many decades and versions, it s a challenge to really analyze its cultural symbolism, because it s
different from culture to culture. However, it is possible to theorize a single interpretation by
examining the more pointed points thatcomprise the legend together. The ritual is almost always
carried out by children, most commonly girls, in a dark bathroom, by means of a chant. A woman then
appears in the mirror, most typically with malicious intentions. The legend of Bloody Mary seems to
resurrect with children s comingof age. The children most enticed by the myth are adolescent children
from the ages of nine to twelve. Children at this age look for excitement and try to find independent
freedom, sometimes in the wrong places. Bloody Mary is the true meaning for exciting fun and a feel
good rush. The way for satisfying this newfound craving for excitement sometimes means breaking
the rules a little. Opposite of the rules we are taught as children. We are taught as children that when

Impact Of Social Media On Society
Technology has always played a role in society. From politics, economics, and culture, it has shaped
how the world into what we see today. Major advancements in military technology, healthcare,
communication and production have led the way to unprecedented growth not only in the United
States, but in emerging countries as well. However, with advancements, comes drawbacks; and some
are massive. From social media, medicine, to communications, even to the atomic bomb; the
advantages are noticeable, but so are the consequences. In the world of ever changing technology, can
human beings survive and thrive as a whole, or are they destined to rip each other apart as they have
for centuries? In recent years, social media has had a tremendous impact on the society as a whole.
With just a few clicks, anyone can see what someone is doing, thinking, saying, eating, and even

from one another closer together. It can expand a person s set of friends and their lifestyle. It can get
them to experience new things, people, and cultures that they normally would not have known before.
Indeed, social media can do great things for the planetary culture, but, could it be harming people at
the same time? Look at the times before social media was the next big thing. If people wanted to know
where someone else was, what they were doing, or wanted to talk to them about their day, they called

Fabrication Of Pcb And Pcb
FABRICATION OF PCB The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) provides the electrical interconnections
between various components and as well provides mechanical support to the components. The
components are soldered to the PCB. The quality of the soldering directly affects the reliability of the
circuit. The procedure for fabricating the PCB for any general project is described below. 7.1 PCB
MAKING Making of PCBs is as much as an art as a technique. The making of PCB essentially
involves two steps. Preparing the PCB drawing Fabricating the PCB itself from the drawing. 7.2 PCB
DRAWING Making of PCB drawing involves some preliminary considerations such as placement of
components, locating holes, deciding the diameters of various holes, the optimum area that each
component should occupy, the shape and size of pads for the components, track size and spacing, full
space utilization and prevention of overcrowding of components at a particular area etc. There is no
other way to arrive the conclusion than by trial and error. With these details the sketch of the PCB is
made. 7.3 PCB FABRICATION The fabrication of the PCB starts with transferring the PCB drawing
onto a copper clad sheet. For small number of PCBs, a direct photographic transfer of the PCB
drawing from a negative image of the drawing to a photo sensitized copper clad sheet is carried out.
The copper from the unexposed area is latter etched away. For large quantity production, screen

Multiple Intelligences Self Assessment Quiz
I choose to take the Multiple Intelligences Self Assessment quiz. When I taught preschool and as the
trainer for my department I have learned that there are many different methods in which people learn.
I have learned to adapt how I teach and train based on what is required by the learner. Due to this I
was curious to determine the variety of learning methods that work best for me. I discovered that I
have a broad range of ways in which I learn best. I have always excelled at learning and find that I
learn fairly quickly, so this is not surprising to me. What did surprise me was that my highest
percentage was naturalistic. One question that I often ask is, Why? I enjoy having a knowledge of how
things work and the ability to understand a variety of subjects, but did not realize how highly it
impacted my learning. The few categories where I scored low were music and body kinesthetic.
Neither of these surprise me much. When I work and am trying to concentrate I find that music and
movement is very distracting. I have learned to eliminate them when focus and concentration is
crucial. The rest of the categories I scored from 49% to 63%. I feel this explains my ability to learn a
broad spectrum of things quickly no matter what the method of learning is. The two areas where I
scored the highest were interpersonal and intrapersonal. This explains my drive for success, ability to
gain insight into a variety of situations and people, my solid foundation in who I am and what

this account)? Which intangible assets and liabilities does Shaw amortize over time? Which

Kidnapping Of Lindbergh Kidnapping
Lindbergh Kidnapping Did you know that the kidnapping of a toddler was once considered the Crime
of the Century? Charles Lindbergh was an aviator well known for his transatlantic flight in 1927. He
and his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, lost the life of their son Charles Lindbergh Jr. Due to the
Lindbergh s baby being taken, the next four weeks witnessed the most massive and publicized
manhunt in American History (Campbell 254). The abduction and death of the young Lindbergh baby
singlehandedly helped make kidnapping a federal crime. On Tuesday March 1st, 1932, an intruder
entered the second floor nursery of a newly constructed estate just outside the Sourland Mountain
hamlet of Hopewell and spirited away a 20 month old boy, the son and namesake of the era s most
famous and most revered man, Charles A. Lindbergh (Levy). The pieces of evidence left at the scene

Taking a Look at a Coma
A coma also known as a persistent vegetative state is a very deep state of unconsciousness which will
last more than six hours, and in which the person is still very much alive, with normal breathing
cycles, but can t respond to any stimuli, or his/her surrounding environment. This can usually be tested
by medics putting the individual through (normally) painful and/or problematic stimulants. The patient
is also unable to move, see, hear or speak.
The coma takes away higher brain functions, thinking capacities and awareness of surroundings, but
the usual circulation, breathing and cognitive sleeping patterns are still kept. The coma can take place
as a result of extreme injuries (head injuries are most common), or as a product of several underlying
diseases or infections; a large variety of causes.
The coma comes from the Greek word koma meaning state of sleep. Coma in the past was very much
of an unsolved enigma. People couldn t see the reasons of people falling into a death like sleep, but
still breathing and carrying out normal sleep patterns. They didn t know of any treatment to cure this
mysterious disease, so they could only leave the people in their comas, deciding that time was the only
cure, but also allowing the people succumb to the usual infections which are picked up from the
patient s immobility while in the coma itself.
Over time, comas have been treated far better with the research done through time. But, despite the
rather weird situation, films

The Importance Of Silence In Human Interaction
Silence in human interaction is an extremely complex construct. Silence can have numerous
conceptual meanings ranging from complete acceptance to complete rejection. It can be an indication
of a person s pace of thought or understanding (Johannesen, 1974; Tannen, 1993). As a
communicative vehicle, silence carries a hidden component in every verbalisation (Zeligs, 1953).
Before we can consider its effects on the recipient, we first need to put context to the specific
interpretation of silence with regards to this study. In this case we are examining the effect on the
interviewer as a recipient in a suspect interview.
Silence is commonly associated with punishment and negative behaviour. When children misbehave,
they are told to sit in silence on the naughty step. The silent treatment is a subtle form of ostracism,
where the lack of communicative engagement is used to express disapproval and punishment. Silence
has the power to create a sense of discomfort and can be used as a sign of displeasure by its user
(Landers, 2017). It is regarded as a power tactic (Falbo and Peplau, 1980; Kipnis, 1984). Leonardo da
Vinci said of silence, nothing strengthens authority so much as silence . When Gottman (1979, 1980)
categorised disengagement behaviours present in damaged relationships, the silent treatment featured
as a sub category. It is used by young children as a form of control (Asher and Coie, 1990; Barner
Barry, 1986; Cairns and Cairns, 1991), and as a form of rejection

these acts on the victim may either be a stranger or an acquaintance. In 1994, 64.2 percent of all rapes
were committed by someone the offender had previously known (Ringel, 1997). Regardless, this type
of crime can have extreme effects on the victim. Sexual assault is a traumatic event ... Show more

They feel as though there is no one that can help them and that they are alone. This phase may be
expressed several hours or even days after the crime (Bard and Sangrey, 1979, pg. 35). In the second
phase, called the recoil stage, the victim struggles to adapt to the violation and tries to reintegrate their
fragmented selves (Bard and Sangrey, 1979, pg. 40). During this phase, the victim tries to recover.
This phase is very complex and deals with a lot of issues and emotions. The victim often faces
extreme fear and anxiety. They become fearful of their safety, as well as anxious in their surrounding
environment. They are afraid of the person that has violated them as well as fearful of being alone.
They also may fear the medical, legal, or social consequences of the crime (CASA House). During this
phase, the victim experiences sadness and depression, as well as low self esteem. Along with this
phase comes anger. The victim either becomes angry with the person who defiled them or they may

The Stalker-Personal Narrative
sweat soaked, bone tired, and staring down the barrel of uncertainty I drive on. suddenly, there is a
strange man in my life he turns out to be a stalker. I tell him that I m happily married,(actually my

The Pros And Cons Of Genital Cutting
Genital Cutting
Genital cutting is the act of cutting or removing any part of the genitals or sexual organs for non
medical reasons, and is practiced in many parts of the world. Each culture genital cutting is attached to
assigns it its own traditions, rituals, and meanings; and it is important to examine each instance in its
own cultural context and historical period. When any practice is removed from the latter or the former,
it loses valuable information surrounding it that changes the light and meaning of it. The most
common representation of genital cutting represented is that done to women, particularly in
impoverished areas, or areas portrayed as so, in countries Western settings view to be inferior or third
world, particularly countries on the African continent. However, there are several types of genital
cutting practiced on men, women, and intersexed persons in across multiple continents and classes.
Thus, female genital cutting, the most commonly covered type of genital cutting logically seems to be
the type to discuss first. Female genital cutting has also been referred to as female genital mutilation
(FGM) and female circumcision, however both of these terms are loaded with different connotations.
Female genital mutilation, as discussed by Christine J. Walley of New York University in her article
Searching for Voices , carries the implicit assumption that parents and relatives deliberately intend to
harm children, (Walley, 407); moreover, mutilation

  • 2. The Odyssey By Homer Is Considered The First And Greatest... One man said, All men are created equal ; however, men treat women differently in today s culture. Society categorizes them as less intelligent, not capable of working in job fields such as construction, and generally less important than men. Because of these ideas, women do not have the same advantages as men. The importance is the effect it has on the progression of the future. Today, women have overcome most stereotypes, but there are still plenty remaining. Most stereotypes originate from ancient times, for example this theme is seen in the Odyssey, written by Homer, who is considered the first and greatest epic poet. Women face persecution daily through the media and society, yet the way society thinks towards them is changing. In the Odyssey, there is a demeaning description of women. The thought of how evil and useless women are shows up in all female characters. The main theory is women are possessions or prizes to be won. They are shown as malevolent, sinister beings with terrible intentions. Starting with Calypso, Homer describes her as evil and unfair. Calypso takes Odysseus captive and makes him become her boyfriend (Homer 485). There is no mention of Odysseus wanting to stay; therefore, it makes Calypso sound worse than she probably is. The reader infers how mean Calypso is when she says, Oh you vile gods, in jealousy supernal!/ You hate it when we choose to lie with men / immortal flesh by some dear mortal side [...] Surely I cannot send him,/ I have no ... • 4. Three Article Summaries and Analysis ARTICLE SUMMARIES Article 1 Jobs in jeopardy over background check backlog(Wed,March 19,2014 Toronto Metro) This article is about the catastrophic backlog in the Toronto police background checks for students who would like to enter the RCMP after they graduate. This is a big problem for the students and for the RCMP. For the students it means that it will take longer for them to get the job that they have studied for and will have to wait a while for them to pay off the debt. The reason why this is a big problem for the RCMP is because they have to do a background check on anyone. The Toronto police get around 200 new requests for checks each day, which cased the backlog of almost 17,00 request. Also if the request is the same gender and birthday of a wanted criminal the RCMP requires finger prints to determine if the person did not change their name without the government knowing causing a bigger delay because of the amount of people in each province. The RCMP have to require finger prints from everyone who needs vulnerable sector screening but they find that it could cause more a backlog for the system that keeps all the records. • 5. Short Story and Dance Pianist Status in Two Chekhov Stories In the introduction to our edition of Chekhov s short stories, by George Pahomov, it is stated that Chekhov s fiction captured the burgeoning Russian democracy and that in Chekhov s democratic world view, no one was excluded (vii viii). We see these ideals being put forward in the two stories by Chekhov that we will discuss in this paper. In these two stories, The Resurrection and The Dance Pianist, we can see how Chekhov depicts a world where the author s own democratic ideals may be in mind, but which is in reality still very much based on the old fashioned concepts of status and rank. We will see that both of these stories center around the concept of social status, especially in the way that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also in contrast to the first story, he is telling the story not to the readers directly, but to another character, his roommate who is the first person narrator of the story. A third contrast between The Dance Pianist and The Confession is that in the present story the status change is really a change in other characters perception of the main character s status, rather than an actual shift in his status. In The Dance Pianist, the point is centered on a man who is mistaken for someone of more importance than he really is, and how society tends to treat people very differently based on perception of status. At the beginning of The Dance Pianist, our main character, Pyotr, a former student, comes bursting into his room late one night and after some prodding by his roommate tells his story of that evening. He had been working as a paid pianist for society people at an aristocratic party, and says that he was kicked out for something that he will soon describe in detail (Chekhov 47). He complains about the poor way that he is treated by society people, which lays out the foundation for what is to follow: And what am I, after all? A piano player, a domestic, a waiter that knows how to play the piano. In the homes of merchants I m addressed as an inferior, given a tip, and no offense intended (p. 48). Hediger agrees when he writes, Trifling disturbances may occur, for the simple reason that certain innate behavior pattern, adapted for life in freedom, cannot develop properly under conditions of captivity, or be brought into play, through lack of appropriate stimuli (pg. 29). Basically, Hediger is warning us that putting animals in captivity for our personal pleasure can harm them in many ways besides physically. Society needs to pay attention to the animals overall wellbeing to make sure they are treated ethically and with morality. Writing in the journal, Social and Cultural Geography, Rebekah Fox states that, we need to recognize the continuity of all life forms and value beings for their own intrinsic worth, autonomy and difference rather than on the basis of their similarity to humans (pg. 527). In other words, Fox believes that humans see animals as having both humanistic qualities and having their natural instinct. However, we need to see all animals as having their own worth, and that no species are the same. Although Fox does not say so directly, she apparently assumes that humans create these humanistic qualities of the animal they are spending time with, with their own qualities. Fox agrees when she writes, readings tend to essentialize animal actions into supposed biological behavior, such as the pack instinct in dogs, and ignore animal agency and individual interaction (pg. 529). The essence of Foxs argument is that some literature focuses on the animal s natural instinct instead of the empathy and individualistic traits they have. While some people rarely admit as much similarity we have with animals, they often take for granted that humans have the same natural instinct to want to protect their young and defend against predators. Realizing the similarities humans have with animals the public needs to be more concerned about the tourism industry and how it greatly affects animals lives. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Darkness Of Darkness Analysis As Marlow s shares his story with those listening, or not listening, on the Nellie, he continually points out the wastefulness the Europeans exhibited in the Belgium controlled Congo region. The first place he lands in Africa is the Company Station. He witnesses the wastefulness immediately. He saw a railway truck lying there on its back and personified it as dead as the carcass of some animal (Conrad 19). Nearby were some workers assigned to building a railway who was blowing up a cliff with objectless blasting (Conrad 19). The adjectives he uses to describe the Europeans actions connote that this was a waste of energy, brain power, and company resources. As a sailor, Marlow was probably used to efficiency and maximum production. Being that sailors are out on the sea for long periods of time, they cannot afford to waste resources because it can endanger the whole crew. This stuns Marlow. While trying to imperialize the Congo, the government squandered millions on these infernal and desolate shores , of the millions flung away which brought nothing but wars and disasters of all kinds (Raskin 122). This was a sentiment shared by a fellow sailor named Rimbaud who also realized the waste of colonializing Africa. Millions were being squandered on broken trucks, inefficiency, and the destruction of a land and its peoples just so ivory and status could be gained. Further along the path, Marlow avoids a hole with a purpose of which I found nearly impossible to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. A Young Woman s Fantasy in The Turn of the Screw Essay A Young Woman s Fantasy in The Turn of the Screw The Turn of the Screw, by Henry James, is an odd story about a young woman who, leaving her small country home for the first time, takes a job as a governess in a wealthy household. Shortly after her arrival, she begins to suffer from insomnia and fancies that she sees ghosts roaming about the grounds. James is a master story teller and, at times, the complexities of the story make it difficult to follow. The Turn of the Screw is a story within a story, the tale of the governess being read aloud as a ghost story among friends. Harold C. Goddard wrote a fascinating piece of criticism entitled A Pre Freudian Reading of The Turn of the Screw. When applied to the book, his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, all her hopes of a relationship are unrealistic, as there is a vast difference in class between herself and the man from Harley Street. At the end of her interview, after she agreed to these stipulations, we are told that when ...he held her hand, thanking her for the sacrifice, she already felt rewarded (6). This description proves that the new governess is in love with her employer. Later in the book, during her first encounter with the ghost of Peter Quint, it is clear that she is thinking of her love as she says that her first shock at seeing a man in the tower was that it was not the person [she] had precipitately supposed it would be (15). It is clear that she was hoping it would be the man from Harley Street. According to Goddard s theory, the ghosts of Peter Quint and Miss Jessel are images conjured up in the mind of the unstable, young governess. Goddard addresses this issue accordingly. To the reader, this may seem like a strange notion because the governess is able to give a description of the ghosts that seems eerily accurate, even though she never saw them before. Shakespeare s ability to slowly mold leaders out of insignificant characters proves to be a very entertaining . This is what intrigues about some of shakespeare s plays his ability to develop a character and place him in this leadership position that ends up being a perfect fit for them. One character that was probably seen as a unlikely leader and was slowly pushed into a position where his leadership would be of the highest significance to revenge the murder of his friend was in Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar Antony is introduced to us as one of caesar s most trusted and later revealed truest friend this loyalty can be seen as one of the most important leadership traits that antony has. This could mean, that they either are physical, or depend on physical phenomena s such as neural signals in the brain. Another way to look at physicalism is that everything lies within the domain of physics, and everything physical is made up of different arrangements of the fundamental physical elements. The opposite of physicalism would be anti physicalism. Anti physicalism is a view that some or all, mental phenomena do not always belong to the domain of physical phenomena. With the basic understanding of these two concepts one can approach the mind and body problem. We being humans consider ourselves to have a mind, yet we treat things that may not have a mind differently. The way we distinguish whether something has a mind or not is often termed the marks of the mental. For children, this has been a disregarded subject and deserves much more attention and consideration worldwide. Through economic causes, its social costs and its possible remedies, inequality has become a major concern over the last three decades (Adamson 2010, p. 3). Inequality is an example of the changes in both the ability and effort it provides for further progress in all types of fields that engage in human endeavor (Adamson 2010, p. 3). Women have always been healers. Even though they were not licensed with medical degrees, women were nurses and pharmacists. Today, however, the health care system is a male dominated industry. Because it has become the property of male professionals, many issues are affecting women and their children. For instance, according to Murray, female infants and children s access to food and/ or medical care has been neglected because researchers either view the household as a single entity with uniform internal distribution or treat newborns as a sex neutral category. This demonstrates that little attention; research and financial support are given to expand the wellbeing of women and their children. The lack of participation of women in planning and implementing health care policies and politics has failed to take women s health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The War And Plato s Symposium, And The Man Discussed In two very different works we see two equally different portrayals of the same man; these differences are informed by the author s purpose, the genre of the work, and the effects of the depiction upon the rest of the specific work. These works are of course Thucydides , The History of the Peloponnesian War and Plato s Symposium, and the man discussed is the Athenian giant, Alcibiades of the Alcmaeonidae. The authors, of course, have their own aims and reasons for writing their works, Plato, writing an allegory on love likely to defend his teacher Socrates, and Thucydides, to inform on what he believes to be the most significant war in history. The genres of the works being philosophy and history respectively also affects the rhetoric of Alcibiades speech; as well as his greater portrayals in the works. It is important to note the differences in the depictions as they are significant not only to understanding the literary merit of the works, but also furthering the knowledge with respect to the author s motives and the state of higher opinion on a maverick of a man in the late 5th and early 4th Centuries BC in Athens. The first significant variance one must note between the author s works is the rhetoric and aims of the speeches Alcibiades makes in the two works. In Plato s Symposium all the major characters are at a dinner party and are giving speeches about eros, the Greek concept of love, and there is quite an awkward relationship squabble occurring between Socrates and ... According to this theory, under the Endangered Species Act, the extinction of any species that would bring pain to ourselves is to be saved and those that do not hamper our consciences can be done away with. This is evident from the modern viewpoint of the caretakers and enforcers of the Endangered Species Act, the Fish Wildlife Services. According to them the Endangered Species Act of 1973, holds that endangered and threatened species of animal and plants are of esthetics, ecological, educational, historical, recreational, and scientific value to the nation and its people (Fish Wildlife Service,1989). Even advertisements and public educational programs to save endangered species, only point out the value of certain species to mankind. Nowhere is it said that a species should be preserved for intrinsic values and its right to exist in the world. The ritual is almost always carried out by children, most commonly girls, in a dark bathroom, by means of a chant. A woman then appears in the mirror, most typically with malicious intentions. Charles Lindbergh was an aviator well known for his transatlantic flight in 1927. He and his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, lost the life of their son Charles Lindbergh Jr. Due to the Lindbergh s baby being taken, the next four weeks witnessed the most massive and publicized manhunt in American History (Campbell 254). The abduction and death of the young Lindbergh baby singlehandedly helped make kidnapping a federal crime. On Tuesday March 1st, 1932, an intruder entered the second floor nursery of a newly constructed estate just outside the Sourland Mountain hamlet of Hopewell and spirited away a 20 month old boy, the son and namesake of the era s most famous and most revered man, Charles A. Because the Lindbergh s desperately wanted to see their child again, on April 2nd, 1932, John Condon had delivered the ransom over the fence of St. Raymond s Cemetery after Lindbergh agreed to pay the money. Taking a Look at a Coma A coma also known as a persistent vegetative state is a very deep state of unconsciousness which will last more than six hours, and in which the person is still very much alive, with normal breathing cycles, but can t respond to any stimuli, or his/her surrounding environment. This can usually be tested by medics putting the individual through (normally) painful and/or problematic stimulants. The patient is also unable to move, see, hear or speak. The coma takes away higher brain functions, thinking capacities and awareness of surroundings, but the usual circulation, breathing and cognitive sleeping patterns are still kept. The coma can take place as a result of extreme injuries (head injuries are most common), or as a product of several underlying diseases or infections; a large variety of causes. The coma comes from the Greek word koma meaning state of sleep. Coma in the past was very much of an unsolved enigma. People couldn t see the reasons of people falling into a death like sleep, but still breathing and carrying out normal sleep patterns. They didn t know of any treatment to cure this mysterious disease, so they could only leave the people in their comas, deciding that time was the only cure, but also allowing the people succumb to the usual infections which are picked up from the patient s immobility while in the coma itself. • 39. The Importance Of Silence In Human Interaction Silence in human interaction is an extremely complex construct. Silence can have numerous conceptual meanings ranging from complete acceptance to complete rejection. It can be an indication of a person s pace of thought or understanding (Johannesen, 1974; Tannen, 1993). As a communicative vehicle, silence carries a hidden component in every verbalisation (Zeligs, 1953). Before we can consider its effects on the recipient, we first need to put context to the specific interpretation of silence with regards to this study. In this case we are examining the effect on the interviewer as a recipient in a suspect interview. Silence is commonly associated with punishment and negative behaviour. When children misbehave, they are told to sit in silence on the naughty step. The silent treatment is a subtle form of ostracism, where the lack of communicative engagement is used to express disapproval and punishment. Silence has the power to create a sense of discomfort and can be used as a sign of displeasure by its user (Landers, 2017). It is regarded as a power tactic (Falbo and Peplau, 1980; Kipnis, 1984). Leonardo da Vinci said of silence, nothing strengthens authority so much as silence . When Gottman (1979, 1980) categorised disengagement behaviours present in damaged relationships, the silent treatment featured as a sub category.
