The values of Kp are 0.2576, 0.7727 and 10.3 for T1(s), T2(s) and T3(s) respectively.
1.3. Solution Description
In order to complete the experiment the values for Kp were needed as shown at the end of the
previous section. The method of simplify the block diagram in section 1.2 to the final transfer
function equation is shown below:
Ts= KpKmKОёП„S+1s+KpKmKОё
Then by substituting in values for Km, KОё and П„, gives:
Ts= 15.53Kp0.1s2+s+15.53Kp
Ts= 155.3Kps2+10s+155.3Kp eq. 1.3.1.
That then is the final version of the simplified equation to get the values for Kp needed in the
ESVL section of the experiment.
In order to calculate the response characteristics the equations listed in the introductions were
utilized and programmed into the MATLAB program in order to speed up the calculation progress
for each of the experiments.
The MATLAB code generated was quite basic, the program aimed to easily calculate the required

Robert E Lee s Life
As Robert E. Lee said, You cannot be a true man until you learn to obey. This quote fits his life
well as he worked his way up the chain to be the man and wonderful military leader he was.
Robert started on the bottom and work his way all the way up to General. One of the bloodiest
battles he was in was at Antietam as he was trying to gain Northern soil. Robert E Lee was born
on January 19, 1807, in Stratford Hall, Virginia. He was born to Henry Light Horse Larry Lee
and Anne Hill Carter Lee. At the young age of 24 he marries Anna Randolph Custis which
would ve been the year of 1831. Robert went to West Point Military school and graduated second
in his class in 1829. Despite all of his military background from his family and such Lee had yet
to see a battlefield. Instead of going to a war he spent seventeen years as an officer in the Core
of Engineers. However, his service during the 1846 war with Mexico changed that. He emerged
from this conflict as a colonel. From 1852 to 1855 he served as superintendent at West Point. In
1855 he joined the Civil War in the cavalry. He served as Lieutenant Colonel of the 2nd cavalry.
He was considering leaving army when in 1859 he was called to dislodge John Brown and his
raiders. This was a quick and virtually bloodless end to John Brown. After this he then went to
Texas to rejoin his regiment. From February of 1860 all the way through February 1861 he played
the role of commander of the Department of Texas. In the

Richard III by William Shakespeare
Richard woos two women in the play, both in unique ways, however succeeds in the end. He
uses many manipulative patterns and persuasive techniques that help him succeed in his wooing
of both women. As the both of the wooing is done by Richard himself there are many
similarities, nevertheless many differences as the first wooing is to the woman in person and
second wooing is wooing the daughter through her mother. The main difference between the two
scenes are that Richard intended to be king in Act 1 Scene 2 and already is king in Act 4 Scene
4. This may be seen as a disadvantage in the wooing of Anne as he has no power, therefore
cannot offer it and as an advantage in the wooing of Elizabeth as he can offer power as Elizabeth
has lost her power when her husband died. So even though at first she is determined not to give
in, the thought of gaining power changes her mind. Anne, however, is needlessly of power and
only gets persuaded due to Richard s flattery techniques. As both women are in anger with him,
they are prepared to kill him. However, Richard having power can be a disadvantage for
Elizabeth because if she kills him it will be a treason which is much worse than Anne killing him
when he is not king as it will only be classified as a murder. Richard woos Anne to become king
and woos Elizabeth so that their marriagewill forge a nifty alliance between the two divisions. Even
though he woos both women for two different

1. Define the three energy pathways. For each pathway, identify two exercises that utilize the
pathway. If you were training to run a marathon, which pathway would be the focal point of your
training? What types of activities would you incorporate into your marathon training and why?
How will an understanding of energy pathways help you in your future training endeavors?
Three different metabolic energy systems power your workouts and your day. Here s how each
one works, and how to make the most of them all.
Most of us understand our bodies about as well as we understand our cars. We know we re

FIRST RESPONDER: THE ATP CP ENERGY SYSTEM
Whether you re running a 40 meter dash, jumping up to answer the phone, or catching a child
falling off the monkey bars, the adenosine triphosphate creatine phosphate (ATP CP) system is
first to respond. Among your three energy systems, it s the one most prepared for emergencies. It
kicks in whenever the oxidative system, your body s normal method for providing energy, isn t up
to the demands you re placing on it.
All three of your energy systems ultimately run on ATP: It s the fuel source for all your physical
functions, from eating to breathing to running hill sprints. Your glycolytic and oxidative systems
(which we ll cover shortly) make most of this ATP to order, cobbling it together from the food you
eat and the air you breathe as need arises.
But a small quantity of ATP is socked away in your muscles for when you need to expend a short
burst of energy in a hurry. Let s say you re doing a single barbell squat with close to max weight.
As you power the weight up, the muscles of your hips, thighs and lower back immediately burn
through their ATP stores. Once the ATP has done its job, it s either further broken down or
recycled (with the help of another substance, creatine phosphate, or CP), so it can provide more
energy to your working muscles.
How fast does the ATP CP system gear up? Blink and you ll miss it. Once you begin hard activity,

There are some of the perspectives about the Balanced Scorecard
(BSC) which may help in giving the perfect service to the management of the business organization.
1.2 Objective of the study
The objective of preparing this report was to find out:
To review the concept of Balanced Scorecard.
Sustainability of Balanced Scorecard.
Why sometimes the Balanced Scorecard fails?
Proper implementation of Balanced Scorecard and its importance.
Is Balanced Scorecard is a universal solution for measuring the performance?
Is Balanced Scorecard can be developed?
1.3 Scope of the study
This report was prepared by studying many articles, reports, journals, and thesis papers, books on
the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) to find out the proper concept and then find out the objective. Some
organizations don‟t find the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) useful but in actual sense they are
wrong. To solve these I have to go through many papers to find out the proper concept of the
Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and to find out the actual meaning of using it.

Leadership and People
Promoting Servant Leadership in the Youth
Defining Leading and Leadership
Leading is defined as:
1. Influencing others to take action toward specific goal.
2. Guiding and directing on a course, and as serving as a channel. A leader is someone who has
commanding influence.
Leadership is defined as:
1. It is the process of influencing and directing activities of members toward goal accomplishment.
2. It is about ordinary people who care. People who care enough to get extra ordinary things done.
3. It is the capacity and will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character which
inspire confidence.
4. It is simply not an art (emotional/instinctual) or a science (rational/acquired). It is a blend of the

And he is generous with his praise of my work I guess, because this reflects well on his
leadership in the eyes of outsiders. But at the same time and probably for the same reason, he
comes down hard when we make mistakes or he feels that we have let him down. I sometimes
resent being so uninvolved and feeling so unimportant. I would like to speak out and even
disagree with the leader for he is not right all the time, but I m not sure how this would go over
with the others in the group. While we spend a lot of time talking about the boss and his ways
outside meetings, we tend to turn into lambs when he is around. I guess it is because we would not
like to hurt and upset him. So things keep going on in the usual way.
2. Democratic or Participative Style
Characteristics of democratic leaders can be summed up in the following:
They are generally as concerned with maintaining group effectiveness as with completing the task
to be done.
They encourage members in their groups to express their ideas and feelings, because they believe
that such a climate leads to greater creativity and commitment.
If they encounter resistance or conflicts, they allow them to surface and they seek the help of their
groups in removing the resistance or resolving the conflicts.
They encourage joint decision making as well as shared goal setting.
They rarely set policies without explaining the reasons and proposing them to

Guernica, By Pablo Picasso
Guernica by Pablo Picasso was a black and white, mural oil painting created in June of 1937 on a
349 cm Г— 776 cm (137.4 in Г— 305.5 in) canvas. The piece represents the chaos that flooded
the Spanish town of Guernica after a vicious bombing by the German and Italian forces during
the Spanish Civil War. What followed was a senseless slaughter and bloodshed with the primary
focus being the demoralization of the Basque people. The painting depicts suffering people,
animals, and buildings wrenched by violence and chaos. On the far left, there is a bull standing
over what appears to be a woman grieving over a dead child, held in her arms. On the far right we
see a figure entrapped by flames. The shape of his hand suggests that of an... Show more content on

Picasso plays with shadows and contrast to not only give the painting depth, but also as a form of
symbolism between the darkness and gloom of the massacre and the light peaking through cracks
which represents hope that is unattainable. The contrast also adds emphasis on areas of focus such
as with the bull at the far left and the floating head. Lines are also used for this purpose, as they
direct the viewers eye primarily to the horse near the center of the painting. There are many subtle
hidden messages within this piece that leave a haunting impression on the viewer. The bull and
horse are both essential parts of Spanish culture and play important roles in the meaning of this
painting. They illustrate both the brutalization and dehumanization of humanity during wartime, as
well as the animalistic response that all living things experience when coming into close proximity
with fear and death. Furthermore, the bull represents Spain itself, which still stands, triumphant
and peaceful after such a brutal and horrendous act of violence. The overall attitude of the painting
however is less optimistic, with brutality and chaos being the general tone. The dove inscribed in
the wall represents lost hope, as well as the glimmers of light coming in between the crack of the
walls. The broken sword and flower growing from the dismembered hand represents the birth and
death of life at the hands of humanity. The main

Relationship Between Dividend Policy And Share Price...
3.1 INTRODUCTION
The following describes the process used in an attempt to analyze the impact of dividend policy
on share price volatility for companies listed in the Egyptian stock exchange throughout the
period 2008 2012, including a detailed description of the model to be followed along with a specific
definition for the variables to be used and how the data shall be analyzed.
3.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT
After years of theoretical and empirical researches, the association between dividend policy and
share price volatility still remains a source of controversy with absence of general consensus
regarding that relation, were different studies have shown contradicting results using different
models, and sometimes using the same model but on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His assumptions for the control variables were as follows: Earnings volatility is to be added to
the equation since the market risk faced by any given firm could have an impact on both its
dividend policy and share price volatility, companies with volatile earnings are perceived as risky
investments and consequently would have a more volatile stock price. Size is to be added to the
equation since smaller firms would usually have less diversified activities as well as less
information available to their investors about their activities, he also assumed that a smaller
firm s stock would be more liquid than that of a larger firm and consequently would have a more
volatile market price compared to that of a larger firm. Also a firm with a larger and more
scattered body of shareholders would have their dividends being used as a signaling method by
those shareholders which would impact the choice of a dividend policy. Growth is to be added to
the equation for the assumption of its negative relationship with dividend policy, mainly due to the

Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder ( Asd )
Understanding Autism in Children
Sreedevi S Kamath
Cerro Coso Community College Abstract
This paper explains what Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is and how it manifests in children. It
explores the different symptoms of autism, treatments and intervention options. The paper
examines eight published works that research autism and possible intervention services applicable
to help children cope with the disorder. It explores the work of Harrop, Mcconachie, Emsley,
Leadbitter and Green (2013) to understand the symptoms of repetitive and restricted behaviors
(RRBs) in children with autism. It lists the various screening options like Childhood Autism Rating
Scale (CARS), Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (CHAT), Autism Screening Questionnaire, and
Screening Tests for Autism in Two Year Olds available for checking the presence of autism. It
discusses treatment options available and how and why early intervention services should be
sought. It explores the Quality of Life (QOL) that will be available to these children.
Understanding Autism in Children
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a pervasive developmental disorder that constitutes impairments in
social reciprocity, behavioral development and verbal and nonverbal communication. It is often
characterized by repetitive or restricted behavior. Autism being a spectrum disorder affects each
child differently and they have different strengths, weaknesses and requirements. In 2013, the

Usage of normal distribution in AFL
The Australian Football League (AFL) is a multi million dollar sports industry consisting of 18
teams that are spread over five states of Australia. In this section, two data sets containing the
weight and height of all the players in the 18 AFL teams was analysed to determine whether using
normal distribution to describe them is suitable.
As discussed in the previous section, a normal distribution has particular characteristics it conforms
to. i.e. It has most of its data concentrated near the centre of the distribution The distribution is
symmetrical around its mean Has a bell shaped curve The mean, mode and median of the data set

Since in a normal distribution, the curve is symmetrical, skewness can affect the accuracy to
which normal distribution can be applied to a data set. To determine how close the distribution of
the weight of the AFL population is to being normal, the degree of skewness was found as a large
degree of skewness would reduce the practicality of applying normal distribution to the data set.
To find the coefficient of skewness (a measure of the degree of skewness), the mean, mode and
standard deviation was needed. Due to the large data size, a computer program was used to obtain
the necessary information. The data set was inserted into the program (One Variable Analysis by
Haese and Harris Publications) which then analysed it and produce the required result. The
information collected is displayed below with the result for the mean rounded to 87 from 86.964

Yellow Woman And A Beauty Of The Spirit Summary
Silko uses a unique structure in her essay Yellow Woman and a Beauty of the Spirit to help her
get her points across to the reader. She uses the effectiveness of the structure to make her points
clear, convincing, but also engaging. She begins the essay by talking about how she is different.
She explains the past of her Great Grandfather to help explain why she is different. She continues
to talk about other family members throughout the essay that influenced her. These examples
help make her points clear and convincing. The structure is effective because of the evidence
provided in her stories that show how she overcame the feeling that she is different. Silko begins
her essay saying how she was different from her playmates as a child. From the time I was a
small child, I was aware that I was different. I looked different from my playmates. My two sisters
looked different too. After she stated this, she talks about why she was different from the other

looked at me and said Not you, he said.... Silko was very surprised but also embarrassed as she
explained how she wanted to disappear . Her classmates were confused by the incident too. Having

Isolation In The Swing Set
The depressing, lonely, and abandoned of the swing set fits well into the film s visual continuity
because the swing set illustrates the films theme of isolation. After Hazel was diagnosed with
cancer she stopped playing on the swing set and the little things in life. She does not have any
friends, she reads the same book, and stays at home all day. The swing set represents Hazel s
detachment from the world, her depression, and loneliness. Furthermore, the swing set also
represents Hazel s childhood before cancer. When Hazel sees the swing set, she gets depressed

I think that the tree house would better emphasize and illustrate Hazel s depression, loneliness,
and isolation from the world. I would make the tree house pretty spacious. I would paint the inside
gray and light blue to convey the theme of isolation, since gray and light blue tend to represent
isolation, detachment, sadness, depression and weakness. I would put a bookshelf inside the
treehouse, two chairs and a table. Next I would make the tree house messy, the paint worn out, the
bookshelf, chairs and table dusty to illustrate how Hazel s abandoned the treehouse after her cancer
diagnose. In addition, I feel like the messiness would also highlight the depressing, lonely, and
abandoned look. Furthermore, I would have one window that gives off natural lighting to
symbolize life and death. Overall, I want the treehouse to represent Hazel s lack of emotion,
detachment from the world, loneliness, depression, and fears. Moreover, I want the treehouse to
represent Hazel s childhood memories and past. All throughout the film she feels like it is her
responsibility to minimize the casualties when she dies. I think the treehouse will help convey
Hazel s fear of hurting and abandoning others when she dies. Plus, I think the treehouse will fit well
into the films visual continuity because it symbolizes the theme of isolation, which is something
Hazel has been struggling with since her cancer diagnoses. I also think that the

Greek genocide. This event was not the first tragedy in Syriac history as Byzantine oppression,
slaughter at the hands of the Crusaders, and Mongol invasion occurred prior (The Syriac Orthodox
Church a Brief Overview, NP). The rise of nationalism among the Christian citizens of the
Ottoman Empire and the rise of the Young Turk government that preached a Turkey for the
Turks was recipe for a disaster. The Young Turk government staged a successful coup in 1913.
Following the entrance of the Ottoman Empire into World War I in November 1914
simultaneous genocides against Assyrians, Armenians, and Greeks occurred along with the help
of Kurdish tribes. Victims were plundered, raped, deported, and massacred horrifically. The
Assyrian genocide is treated slightly differently from that of the Armenians as there were no
specific orders to attack and deport Assyrians from Ottoman leaders since they were not
assisting the Russian Empire and did not desire their own nation state. The genocide was carried
out by local leaders and Kurdish tribes. In some cities the entire adult populations were wiped
out whereas in other cities such as Mardin only the male population was killed and the widows
and children were forced to leave on foot which caused many more deaths. The deaths were not
limited to just the Ottoman Empire as Assyrians in Persia were also slaughtered when the
Ottoman Empire invaded northwestern Persia (The Assyrian Genocide, 1914 to 1923 and 1933
up to the Present, NP). The death toll was believed to be 300,000 Syriacs yet has only been
recognized by the Swedish and Armenian Parliaments (Centenary of 1915 Syriac (Sayfo) genocide,

The impact of world war one on the homefront
The First World War impacted significantly on the homefronts of the participating nations in many
different social, political and economic areas. There was a widespread restructuring of primary
industry with a large orientation towards militarism. There was massive political change where new
systems of power were introduced that gave governments a range of new powers including the
control over industry. The civilian population had severe restrictions placed upon their rights and
liberties due to the necessities that total war required.
The scale of the war forced all sectors of society to change and adapt to the growing scale of the
war. In 1914 the British government believed that the war would be a brief one and as a result there

This was not helped by the lack of attention paid to agriculture by the German government and the
destroyed crops of 1915 1916. Mortality rates for children rose along with those of adults and
elderly citizens. This starvation and poor living conditions led to the general disdain for the war but
due to the terrible losses and casualties already suffered it was thought that only victory would
suffice to somewhat offset these hardships.
Despite the massive arms stockpile that had been amassed by both sides of the conflict both
sides ran short and had to drastically increase their workforce and number of hours that they
worked. In Britain this was achieved by the formation of a three party coalition that has elements
working to find solutions to this problem. The shortage of workers was largely due to the lack of
men in the workforce as they were almost all enlisted in the army as soldiers. The deficit grew as
the war went on when more and more men were conscripted and enlisted. A new workforce was
needed to work in the jobs that they filled. Female workers largely filled a massive amount of
these positions with a smaller number of prisoners of war doing farming work. For the first time
women worked in large numbers in industrial factories, producing weapons and munitions for the
men on the front lines. They often worked in difficult and dangerous conditions

Hurricanes are large gusts of wind that are concentrated usually in a spiral. There are three
different types of this storm: cyclones, hurricanes and typhoons. Why The Frankenstorm is
called a hurricane is because hurricanes happen in and around the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
While the others (Typhoons and cyclones) happen in other parts of the world in other oceans.
Hurricanes are the biggest storms and do more damage than all of the other storms. The season
of these devastating natural disasters are from June 1st to November 30. If you live near the
coast of the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans make sure you are prepared with the tips that will be stated

The Lottery By Shirley Jackson Analysis
The theme following the crowd can have disastrous consequences means that doing something that
everybody else is doing can lead to something you don t want to happen. The short story the
Lottery is about a town in 1948 that had a tradition of killing one person every year. One year a
women named Tessie was chosen and she was stoned to death. The poem First they came is about
pastor that lived during the Holocaust that never spoke out against the Germans, he even supported
them. So he was surprised when the Germans took him. He eventually escaped and felt regretful
that he hadn t spoken out when he had the chance. Both the Lottery by Shirley Jacksonand First
they came by Martin Nemoller deal with the idea that following the crowd can have disastrous
consequences but they do so in different ways. In the first place, the Lottery expresses the theme
following the crowd can have disastrous consequences because the people just listen to the old
traditions, and they just follow what the leaders of the town say. The tradition they follow is
barely remembered they don t even know why they do it. In the story it says, People had forgotten
the recital and they had lost the original black box but they still remembered to use the stones .
These people, just listen to men like old man Warner and follow what they do like throwing stones
at an innocent people. In the text it says that someone handed little Davey Hutchinson a pebble.

Oppression Within The Social Workers
Social workers are often on the forefront in the fight against any form of oppression as against
the marginalized society. These demanding but oftentimes unappreciated efforts are often
addressed through the conscious use of skills and knowledge of the problems being solved
against. When such oppression is however committed against them within the organization
where they work, the social worker seems to be mum about the situation, or their efforts perhaps
are rendered inutile. North America social workers experience this form of oppression within
the social service institution. For this reason, I examine the arguments why the social workers
need to be aware of the existence of this unique form of oppression. In order to eliminate
oppression in the social welfare workplace, the social workers, in their pursuit of social change,
must have a competent understanding of the theory around racism and oppression. Racism, as a
social construct, historically and generally creates a generalization based on the culture, ethnicity,
or any objective attributes of a person. Oppression, which is a modern category of racism, is the
use of any form of power to dis empower, marginalize, silence, or otherwise subordinate one social
group, usually to further empower and/or privilege the oppressor. Although oppression can be
defined as a concept, creating a clear definition of what constitutes anti oppression becomes a
challenge even though much as been discussed about it. Much of it has to do

The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar, written by William Shakespeare, is a perfect tragedy, showing
both pity and fear , as well as not possess[ing] no single tragic quality (Aristotle). Throughout the
play, betrayal and corruption are seen, filling the play with other tragic qualities. Out of all the
characters in the play, the most complex is Brutus. Brutus, being one of the conspirators behind
the death of his good friend Caesar, takes his place as the stories tragic hero. The nobility and

An Emergency Motion Filed By Sga Presidential Candidate...
A court order has ruled to deny an emergency motion filed by SGA presidential candidate Jacob
Milich in his constitutional challenge case against UCF.
The ruling was made on March 15, a day before Sen. Milich was scheduled to appear before the
SGA elections commission for alleged campaign violations.
On March 10, Milich filed a lawsuit against the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees,
UCF s Student Government Association, SGA s election commission, student body president Cait
Zona, supervisor of elections Whitney Barnes and Maribeth Ehasz, vice president of Student
Development and Enrollment Services.
The case complaint cited violations of Milich s First Amendment rights, violations to the federal
Family and Educational Rights and Privacy Act and violations of the state s Sunshine Laws,
according to court documents.
Milich requested the emergency motion in the initial filing in which he maintained that unless he
received preliminary injunctive relief, defendants will imminently and continuously violate his
rights, according to court documents.
Although his request for injunctive relief was denied, Judge Janet Thorpe of the ninth judicial court
did grant a motion for an expedited hearing.
David Oglethorpe, communications coordinator for the Office of Student Involvement, said that
although election violation hearings have traditionally been open, the hearings scheduled to occur
on March 16 and 17 were closed.

The Success Of Burton s Snowboards Started Selling From...
Burton s Snowboards began selling from the back of a car. The company s success is shocking
looking at the startup and market that Jake Burton Carpenter entered into. Carpenter had the
goal of becoming rich and found a way to do so through hard work, pride, and a couple pieces of
wood. The snowboards he made in the beginning were poorly designed and did not sell because
he had no interested customers. The industry he was trying to sell in did not yet exist, so he had to
make it. Finally finding the right target market and a place to use his products his snowboards
began to soar in popularity. Carpenter had to fight to have snowboards allowed on the slopes.
Through his determination and early morning snowboardingsessions with his most loyal customers
he was able to breakdown the reluctant resorts and hit their slopes. However, once the public sees
one company do well they decide its time to join the market. Competition began to pop up, as
snowboarding became an international market. Carpenter then had to ensure his spot in the
competitive global market by problem solving quicker than his competitors. Today, his business is
still the best snowboardcompany in the market. The main issue facing his company today is not just
staying on top, but remaining in business. The popularity of the sport rose so quickly and gained
professional status in the nineties, but today the youth are beginning to look towards other
equipment. Carpenter has to find a way to ensure that

In order to propose an effective intervention aimed at increasing the number of female corrections
officers who self report experiencing sexual harassment from other male officers, one must first
look at the strategies that already exist to help with this problem. It is also important to note that the
existing interventions try to reduce sexual harassmentin the workplace, not increase the number of
reports made about the harassment. Additionally, a few strategies seem to exist for workplace
sexual harassment in general, but none is specific to sexual harassment in the corrections setting.

There is a zone which shows the correlation between adaptive response and the range of

effective coping skills. Therefore the individual is unable to respond positively. Coping
mechanisms consist of regulator and cognator subsystems. The regulator subsystem is made up of
automatic neural endocrine and chemical activity. The cognator subsystem consists of cognitive
and emotive pathways. These pathways involve information processing, learning, judgment, and
emotions (George, 2002). In the final component of her model Roy address the goal of nursing is
to promote adaptation in each of the four modes. By doing so, promotes a person s health, quality
of life, and dying and dignity. The four models according to Andrews and Roy, (1991) are
physiological, self concept, role function and interdependence. Roy s model includes six steps in
order to carry out the nursing process. These steps are assessment of behavior, assessment of
stimuli, nursing diagnosis, goal setting, interventions, and evaluation. To assess behavior, it is
stressed that behavior is observed and compared to norms and considered either adaptive or

Anti-Semitism In Ww2
Desmond Tutu once said, if you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the
oppressor. The United States of America knew about the atrocities being committed in World War
II, and still did nothing. America is complicit in the deaths of all those we turned away. When the
St. Louis brought us Germany s huddled masses yearning to breathe free, we turned away, dooming
so many souls on that ship. But why? Are we not a nation created by immigrants fleeing
persecution? The cold, hard truth of the matter is that the United Stateslet six million people die
because of institutionalized anti semitism, which impacted the economic crisis and isolationist
policy within the government.
In 1883 Emma Lazarus wrote upon the Statue of Liberty give me your tired, your poor, your
huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Apparently, in the 1930s, unless they re Jewswas added in
fine print. Of course, anti semitism in the United States was nothing new, especially in cities.
Jewish people were banned from hotels, businesses, and even beaches. It was perfectly legal for
someone to be fired because he or she was Jewish. That is why, when Hitler came to power,
America did not even flinch. In fact, many Americans rallied behind his intense nationalist policies.

Art And Culture, 1920-1945, An Exhibition Curated By Dr....
Between February 13 and July18, 2015 the Brigham Young University Museum of Art is exhibiting
Deco Japan: Shaping Art and Culture, 1920 1945, an exhibition curated by Dr. Kendall Brown. The
exhibit was collected in an attempt to detail the cultural transformation that took place in Japan
from the Roaring Twenties all the way through the end of World War II. The exhibit displays the
tension between the deep national cultureand the up and coming cosmopolitan lifestyle. Dr. Brown
gathered art of all variations, ranging from paintings to sculptures to ordinary household objects.
Deco Art itself is a reflection of changing world cultures. It was born in France post World War I
as a sort of marriage between craft motifs and the industrial age, characterized by wealthy and
bold looking colors and shapes. The art form is well depicted in the decoration of the
Rockefeller Center in New York or any of the art and decor found in the movie The Great Gatsby.
This striking form represented the glamour of the age. In a great sense, the period represented a
change from conservative to a more liberal view on life. This was no different in Japan.
The period observed through the art pieces is one of extreme tension between two very different
lifestyles. During this time, many Japanese youth were reaching out to Western Modernism and
the allure of the big city and Jazz culture. The Moga, short for Modan Gaaru (modern girl) and the

in opposition of political and religious tyranny, in order to bring about a specific change or divert

Luther had no intention of mass producing his work, but only a couple months later, thousands of
copies had been distributed throughout Leipzig. This widespread distribution came about by a
few bishop s and prince s support of Luther s Theses; however, as expected, the majority of the
bishops were less than enthralled about the early introduction of a reformation. The most adamant
disapprobation came from none other than Johann Tetzel. Tetzel rejected Luther s Theses and
labeled him a heretical follower of Jan Hus (or in English, John Huss ). The bishops that did not
support Luther s new work presented his ideas to the Pope, referring to him as an insane rebel.

This case study is based on Patricia, a Spanish national in her twenties who is in her last year
studying an Economics degree course. She is also a student on the Elementary course at the British
Language Centre. Patricia s started learning English at the bi lingual school she attended. She
learnt English for 3 years but did not take any official examinations, but sees this as a possibility
for the future. At school she learnt English because it was obligatory. The only other languageshe
speaks is Spanish. She started attending the British Language Centre (which she still attends) to
help her find a job in an international company and to prepare her for her visit to Eastbourne, East

Spanish this word is not used in the same way. A solution and practice to this would be to present
all of the words to the student within a real context, through a reading or writing exercise.
2 Problems and Possible Solutions with Pronunciation.
Morphemes that have more than one pronunciation present a problem relating to the sound of
words. (Refer to Appendix example 4). Both problems relate to rhythm when speaking, Spanish
rhythm is syllable timed, whereas, English rhythm is stressed timed. (Spanish also has a narrower
pitch range than English). Both problems can be directly related to language interference. Solutions
include instant and planned remedial. The best procedure in addressing these problems is to draw
attention to the problematic sound or pattern. Get them to pronounce it in isolation and explain
how the pattern or sound is formed, and drill the student ensuring they have a record.

Speaking: The student is very comfortable speaking on a one to one basis and has no qualms
about making mistakes. She articulates and forms her sentences well. Her main problem in fluency

Research Paper On Luigi Pirandello
Many people are inspired by things that occur in their life or things they witness, which tends to
motivate them to do something or express an experience in someway. Luigi Pirandello always said
ВЁNature uses human imagination to lift her work of creation to even higher levelsВЁ ( Luigi
Pirandello Quotes ). Case in point, Luigi lived by this quote, incorporating nature and reality in his
works. He was an Italian dramatist, novelist, poet, and short storywriter whose greatest contributions
were his plays. Pirandello was mostly inspired by individual desires, physiological issues, and
struggles within communities/countries.
Everybody has different individual desires. Pirandello expressed different desires and struggles one

Living in Rome during his time, World War I outbroke. He wrote about the war in his novelcalled
War. The story is about worried parents that are distraught over their kids being deployed to war.
The parents soon learn in this story that there s no reason to be concerned because it s their
children s choice not theirs. Pirandello relates to this because as World War I was going on his son
Stefano was deployed. Another novel concerning events in a country or community was The Other
Son. This novel tells about a concerned Sicilian mother pining for her two sons who have
emigrated to Sante Fe. The mother s longing for her sons urges her to follow each group of
prospective emigrants walking away from their village, in hopes to find her sons. This deals with
community issues and the fact that people are emigrating in and out of the community. Pirandello
honored the heartbreaking events that could happen to someone or a community or country.
As Luigi Pirandello once said ВЁIn bed my real love has always been the sleep that rescued me
by allowing me to dreamВЁ (ВЁLuigi Pirandello QuotesВЁ). Pirandello used his dreams and
imagination by turning them into works of art. His novels, short stories, and poems were all very
well know but his plays were his greatest contributions. Luigi Pirandello was mostly inspired by
individual desires, psychological issues, and struggles within

Around the Horn Pow Essay
POW 9: Around the Horn Problem Statement During the time of crossing the overland trail,
many people instead chose to take the ship route which went around Cape Horn at the tip of
South America. The points that we are given to keep in mind are: A ship leaves New York for
San Francisco on the first of every month at noon, and vice versa for a ship coming from San
Francisco. Each ship arrives exactly six months after it leaves. With these things, we are also going
to assume that: The weather conditions are perfect and the trip goes exactly as planned. The time

The weather conditions are perfect and the trip goes exactly as planned. The time zones do not
affect anything in this problem. There is a certain point that the ship must reach, or have
reached at each month. Assuming these things, and having the given knowledge, we are to
answer the question, if you were on a ship leaving from New York, how many ships from San
Francisco would you see in passing? Process At first, I was confused with this problem and did
not know what to do. For this problem, I used only one problem and it was what helped me solve
it. With my table group (Derick I), we did a simulation. We first drew out a large map with the
points that every ship should reach at the start of every month. Then we kept feeding in the
blocks (which we used to act as ships) and did the simulation. Using this strategy, we were able
to find the solution. Solution I found that if I were a traveler on a New York ship bound for San
Francisco, I would see SEVEN ships from San Francisco, California along the way. This is how I

What Is The Theme Of The Waking By Theodore Roethke
Poem Analysis: The poem titled The waking written by Theodore Roethke (1908 1963) made in
the year 1953. Analyzing this poem, it has a deeper meaning than what it implies on the surface.
As a whole, the poem tries to connote the big idea of life and death. With the additional twist of
fate and the flow of life included. Of how the logicof being awake is rather bleak in comparison of
being asleep, somewhat to the otherworldly. Considering the time period, and author s
background; it isn t surprising to think why Roethke wrote this type of poem. This poem is a
villanelle, a 19 line poem made out of 5 tercets and followed by a quatrain. There are two key
repeating rhymes written on the first and last lines of the first stanza, which is repeated alternatively
until the end of the poem (quatrain), where it is joined together as an... Show more content on

talking with the metaphorical meaning of waking and sleeping alive or dead. On the second
line, the word Ground g is capitalized, implying that the ground is a living thing (person) or
place. The ground being a symbolism as part of the cycle of life, where the dead will dissolve,
and produces new life. Enforcing the key lines of learn by going where I have to go. Again,
another circular meaning. Continuing on to the 4th stanza, from the ground that we became, we
move through the cycle again. The light of life and the tree (of life) with the worm climbing the
winding stair. Creates a detailed visual imagery of just the laws of nature. We don t and can t tell

The Beauty Of Motherhood And Breastfeeding
In this paper I will evaluate two artworks that share the same theme of motherhood and
breastfeeding. In the last few years, the sexualization of breastfeeding has become a big issue. This
is due to people see breast as sexual objects and think that women are being exhibitionist, and are
doing it just to flaunt their breasts in public. Breastfeedingmothers are faced with the public
criticism as they struggle to breastfeed their child, although it is the most natural and healthy
method of feeding. The first artwork is by Mary Cassattand is titled MotherRose Nursing her Child.
This painting was created in the 1900s and it depicts a woman breastfeeding her child. The
second piece is a contemporary portrait created by Catherine Opie titled Self Portrait Nursing.
The portrait depicts a modern mother also nursing her child. When comparing both of these
pieces of art I plan to focus on the beauty of motherhood and the bond between mother and child.
In this paper I will discuss the social issue of mother s being criticized for breastfeeding in
public. Now more than ever women s breasts are being overly sexualized when they are not a
sexual organ, but in fact a part of their body used to feed another human being. Mary Stevenson
Cassatt (May 22, 1844 June 14, 1926) was an American painter and printmaker. She lived most of
her adult life in France. She was born in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, which is now part of
Pittsburgh. She began studying painting at the Pennsylvania

This quote fits his life well as he worked his way up the chain to be the man and wonderful military leader he was. Robert started on the bottom and work his way all the way up to General. One of the bloodiest battles he was in was at Antietam as he was trying to gain Northern soil. Robert E Lee was born on January 19, 1807, in Stratford Hall, Virginia. He was born to Henry Light Horse Larry Lee and Anne Hill Carter Lee. At the young age of 24 he marries Anna Randolph Custis which would ve been the year of 1831. Robert went to West Point Military school and graduated second in his class in 1829. Despite all of his military background from his family and such Lee had yet to see a battlefield. Instead of going to a war he spent seventeen years as an officer in the Core of Engineers. However, his service during the 1846 war with Mexico changed that. He emerged from this conflict as a colonel. From 1852 to 1855 he served as superintendent at West Point. In 1855 he joined the Civil War in the cavalry. He served as Lieutenant Colonel of the 2nd cavalry. He was considering leaving army when in 1859 he was called to dislodge John Brown and his raiders. This was a quick and virtually bloodless end to John Brown. After this he then went to Texas to rejoin his regiment. He uses many manipulative patterns and persuasive techniques that help him succeed in his wooing of both women. As the both of the wooing is done by Richard himself there are many similarities, nevertheless many differences as the first wooing is to the woman in person and second wooing is wooing the daughter through her mother. The main difference between the two scenes are that Richard intended to be king in Act 1 Scene 2 and already is king in Act 4 Scene 4. This may be seen as a disadvantage in the wooing of Anne as he has no power, therefore cannot offer it and as an advantage in the wooing of Elizabeth as he can offer power as Elizabeth has lost her power when her husband died. So even though at first she is determined not to give in, the thought of gaining power changes her mind. Anne, however, is needlessly of power and only gets persuaded due to Richard s flattery techniques. As both women are in anger with him, they are prepared to kill him. However, Richard having power can be a disadvantage for Elizabeth because if she kills him it will be a treason which is much worse than Anne killing him when he is not king as it will only be classified as a murder. Richard woos Anne to become king and woos Elizabeth so that their marriagewill forge a nifty alliance between the two divisions. Even though he woos both women for two different ... If you were training to run a marathon, which pathway would be the focal point of your training? What types of activities would you incorporate into your marathon training and why? How will an understanding of energy pathways help you in your future training endeavors? Three different metabolic energy systems power your workouts and your day. Here s how each one works, and how to make the most of them all. Most of us understand our bodies about as well as we understand our cars. FIRST RESPONDER: THE ATP CP ENERGY SYSTEM Whether you re running a 40 meter dash, jumping up to answer the phone, or catching a child falling off the monkey bars, the adenosine triphosphate creatine phosphate (ATP CP) system is first to respond. Among your three energy systems, it s the one most prepared for emergencies. It kicks in whenever the oxidative system, your body s normal method for providing energy, isn t up to the demands you re placing on it. All three of your energy systems ultimately run on ATP: It s the fuel source for all your physical functions, from eating to breathing to running hill sprints. Your glycolytic and oxidative systems (which we ll cover shortly) make most of this ATP to order, cobbling it together from the food you eat and the air you breathe as need arises. But a small quantity of ATP is socked away in your muscles for when you need to expend a short burst of energy in a hurry. Let s say you re doing a single barbell squat with close to max weight. As you power the weight up, the muscles of your hips, thighs and lower back immediately burn through their ATP stores. Once the ATP has done its job, it s either further broken down or recycled (with the help of another substance, creatine phosphate, or CP), so it can provide more energy to your working muscles. How fast does the ATP CP system gear up? Blink and you ll miss it. Once you begin hard activity, says Christopher Scott, PhD, associate professor in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The piece represents the chaos that flooded the Spanish town of Guernica after a vicious bombing by the German and Italian forces during the Spanish Civil War. What followed was a senseless slaughter and bloodshed with the primary focus being the demoralization of the Basque people. The painting depicts suffering people, animals, and buildings wrenched by violence and chaos. Picasso plays with shadows and contrast to not only give the painting depth, but also as a form of symbolism between the darkness and gloom of the massacre and the light peaking through cracks which represents hope that is unattainable. The contrast also adds emphasis on areas of focus such as with the bull at the far left and the floating head. Lines are also used for this purpose, as they direct the viewers eye primarily to the horse near the center of the painting. There are many subtle hidden messages within this piece that leave a haunting impression on the viewer. The bull and horse are both essential parts of Spanish culture and play important roles in the meaning of this painting. They illustrate both the brutalization and dehumanization of humanity during wartime, as well as the animalistic response that all living things experience when coming into close proximity with fear and death. Furthermore, the bull represents Spain itself, which still stands, triumphant and peaceful after such a brutal and horrendous act of violence. The overall attitude of the painting however is less optimistic, with brutality and chaos being the general tone. The dove inscribed in the wall represents lost hope, as well as the glimmers of light coming in between the crack of the walls. The broken sword and flower growing from the dismembered hand represents the birth and death of life at the hands of humanity. The main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Size is to be added to the equation since smaller firms would usually have less diversified activities as well as less information available to their investors about their activities, he also assumed that a smaller firm s stock would be more liquid than that of a larger firm and consequently would have a more volatile market price compared to that of a larger firm. To find the coefficient of skewness (a measure of the degree of skewness), the mean, mode and standard deviation was needed. Due to the large data size, a computer program was used to obtain the necessary information. This event was not the first tragedy in Syriac history as Byzantine oppression, slaughter at the hands of the Crusaders, and Mongol invasion occurred prior (The Syriac Orthodox Church a Brief Overview, NP). The rise of nationalism among the Christian citizens of the Ottoman Empire and the rise of the Young Turk government that preached a Turkey for the Turks was recipe for a disaster. The Young Turk government staged a successful coup in 1913. Following the entrance of the Ottoman Empire into World War I in November 1914 simultaneous genocides against Assyrians, Armenians, and Greeks occurred along with the help of Kurdish tribes. Victims were plundered, raped, deported, and massacred horrifically. The Assyrian genocide is treated slightly differently from that of the Armenians as there were no specific orders to attack and deport Assyrians from Ottoman leaders since they were not assisting the Russian Empire and did not desire their own nation state. The genocide was carried out by local leaders and Kurdish tribes. In some cities the entire adult populations were wiped out whereas in other cities such as Mardin only the male population was killed and the widows and children were forced to leave on foot which caused many more deaths. The deaths were not limited to just the Ottoman Empire as Assyrians in Persia were also slaughtered when the Ottoman Empire invaded northwestern Persia (The Assyrian Genocide, 1914 to 1923 and 1933 up to the Present, NP). The poem First they came is about pastor that lived during the Holocaust that never spoke out against the Germans, he even supported them. So he was surprised when the Germans took him. He eventually escaped and felt regretful that he hadn t spoken out when he had the chance. Both the Lottery by Shirley Jacksonand First they came by Martin Nemoller deal with the idea that following the crowd can have disastrous consequences but they do so in different ways. In the first place, the Lottery expresses the theme following the crowd can have disastrous consequences because the people just listen to the old traditions, and they just follow what the leaders of the town say. The tradition they follow is barely remembered they don t even know why they do it. In the story it says, People had forgotten the recital and they had lost the original black box but they still remembered to use the stones . These people, just listen to men like old man Warner and follow what they do like throwing stones at an innocent people. In the text it says that someone handed little Davey Hutchinson a pebble. • 27. Oppression Within The Social Workers Social workers are often on the forefront in the fight against any form of oppression as against the marginalized society. These demanding but oftentimes unappreciated efforts are often addressed through the conscious use of skills and knowledge of the problems being solved against. When such oppression is however committed against them within the organization where they work, the social worker seems to be mum about the situation, or their efforts perhaps are rendered inutile. North America social workers experience this form of oppression within the social service institution. For this reason, I examine the arguments why the social workers need to be aware of the existence of this unique form of oppression. In order to eliminate oppression in the social welfare workplace, the social workers, in their pursuit of social change, must have a competent understanding of the theory around racism and oppression. Racism, as a social construct, historically and generally creates a generalization based on the culture, ethnicity, or any objective attributes of a person. Oppression, which is a modern category of racism, is the use of any form of power to dis empower, marginalize, silence, or otherwise subordinate one social group, usually to further empower and/or privilege the oppressor. Although oppression can be defined as a concept, creating a clear definition of what constitutes anti oppression becomes a challenge even though much as been discussed about it. Between February 13 and July18, 2015 the Brigham Young University Museum of Art is exhibiting Deco Japan: Shaping Art and Culture, 1920 1945, an exhibition curated by Dr. Kendall Brown. The exhibit was collected in an attempt to detail the cultural transformation that took place in Japan from the Roaring Twenties all the way through the end of World War II. The exhibit displays the tension between the deep national cultureand the up and coming cosmopolitan lifestyle. Dr. Brown gathered art of all variations, ranging from paintings to sculptures to ordinary household objects. Deco Art itself is a reflection of changing world cultures. The time zones do not affect anything in this problem. There is a certain point that the ship must reach, or have reached at each month. Assuming these things, and having the given knowledge, we are to answer the question, if you were on a ship leaving from New York, how many ships from San Francisco would you see in passing? Process At first, I was confused with this problem and did not know what to do. For this problem, I used only one problem and it was what helped me solve it. With my table group (Derick I), we did a simulation. We first drew out a large map with the points that every ship should reach at the start of every month. Then we kept feeding in the blocks (which we used to act as ships) and did the simulation. Using this strategy, we were able to find the solution. Solution I found that if I were a traveler on a New York ship bound for San Francisco, I would see SEVEN ships from San Francisco, California along the way. This is how I ... • 49. The Beauty Of Motherhood And Breastfeeding In this paper I will evaluate two artworks that share the same theme of motherhood and breastfeeding. In the last few years, the sexualization of breastfeeding has become a big issue. This is due to people see breast as sexual objects and think that women are being exhibitionist, and are doing it just to flaunt their breasts in public. Breastfeedingmothers are faced with the public criticism as they struggle to breastfeed their child, although it is the most natural and healthy method of feeding. The first artwork is by Mary Cassattand is titled MotherRose Nursing her Child. This painting was created in the 1900s and it depicts a woman breastfeeding her child. The second piece is a contemporary portrait created by Catherine Opie titled Self Portrait Nursing. The portrait depicts a modern mother also nursing her child. When comparing both of these pieces of art I plan to focus on the beauty of motherhood and the bond between mother and child. In this paper I will discuss the social issue of mother s being criticized for breastfeeding in public. Now more than ever women s breasts are being overly sexualized when they are not a sexual organ, but in fact a part of their body used to feed another human being. Mary Stevenson Cassatt (May 22, 1844 June 14, 1926) was an American painter and printmaker. She lived most of her adult life in France. She was born in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, which is now part of Pittsburgh. She began studying painting at the Pennsylvania ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
