Toussaint Loverture And The Haitian Revolution
Documentary Assignment:
Egalite For All: Toussaint Louverture and the Haitian Revolution
How did the French Revolution impact events on San Domingue (Haiti)? What did the revolution
mean for the French? For Haitians? Why was this both contradictory and dangerous?
The success and vigorous pursuit of freedom from oppression in the French Revolution inspired the
Haitians to believe that they were capable of doing the same; the Haitians, being treated like animals,
wanted their inherent rights. The overbearing French governing body had collapsed and the Third
Estate was likely to receive a brighter future. The Haitians were still locked down as property and
animals, but they craved to have the inherent rights that all men are privileged to. The French got their
rights while the Haitians did not; this was quite the volatile scenario ready to fall off the self and spark
revolution.
Why would a slave in Haiti not last more than 3 years upon arrival from Africa?
The system was incredibly brutal and non lenient to the slaves, and all the while, disease was capable
of ravaging them. Many various types of grievous torture were a regular occurrence in Haiti.
How would you describe Toussaint Loverture(The Black Spartacus)? How did he come to lead the
revolution?
Loverture was headstrong, passionate man ready to use his wit to fight for what he believed right.
After a fortunate childhood in slavery and freedom, Loverture was able to bare witness to multiple
societal perspectives.

Comparison Of The Big Boy And Big Two-Hearted River By...
Nick Adams, a mentally and physically wounded individual, featured in Big Two Hearted River by
Ernest Hemingway, written in 1925, experiences an emotional journey through the process of fishing.
Whereas Big Boy, a black boy in Big Boy Leaves Home by Richard Wright and written only a decade
later in 1936, endures the racial tensions between blacks and whites in the South and the struggles Big
Boy encounters to ensure his survival. While some readers may claim that both short stories appear as
though there is a resolution or ending, there is a larger scope to both of the stories endings in which
the reader is not fully certain of the outcomes of Nick Adams and Big Boy. Therefore the endings are
suspended and leave the reader guessing. The suspended endings of both stories impress
differentiating after lasting emotions on the reader as the motives for which each main character heads
towards the cities diverge. Big Boy Leaves Home imparts a hopeful but skeptical ending perspective
due to the uncertainty if Big Boy is truly safer away from the South, whereas Big Two Hearted River
conveys a positivistic ending for Nick Adams as a Hemingway code hero his healing process. Big
Boy, an overgrown black teenager that lands himself in the crosshairs of racial prejudice after killing a
white man, struggles through multiple obstacles to escape the Deep South and head to the North. After
having spent the night in the kiln and fighting off a snake and a dog, Big Boy boards a truck headed
for, presumably, Chicago. However, Wright creates uncertainty for Big Boy s future even if he does
reach the North, let alone Chicago itself. Big Boy has no finances, no shelter, nor from the reader s
understanding, extended family outside of the South. At the end of the story, The truck sped over the
asphalt mines, sped northward, jolting him, shaking out of his bosom the crumbs of corn bread,
making them dance with the splinters and sawdust in the golden blades of sunshine (Wright 53). The
crumbs of the corn bread shaking out demonstrate the mental growth and emotional hardening that
Big Boy obtained from his life threatening situations the previous night but also as a symbol of
shaking out the last of home and starting

Wellness In Chronic Illness
Encouraging wellness in patients with a chronic illness is a nursing priority. Promoting health and
wellness can only enhance the quality of life and functional ability of our elderly patients (Tabloski,
2014). The purpose of this post is to discuss what wellness in chronic illness mean to me. I will also
share my thoughts and ideas about chronic illness with my colleagues.
Improving quality care among chronic illnesses, such as arthritis, diabetes, and coronary heart disease,
is a global healthcare problem (Gibbons et al., 2017). To me, wellness in chronic illness means
preventing further progression and promotion of a healthy lifestyle. There are three nursing
interventions to promote wellness for our older adult population. The first

What Is The Theme Of The Country Husband By John Cheever
1. Introduction Literary scholars and critics have often commented upon the structural complexity of
John Cheever s short story The Country Husband . For example, George W. Hunt argues that it is a
long story, so rich in accident and in emotional colorations that it reads more like a novella (273).
Often cited is also Vladimir Nabokov s expression that the story under discussion is [a] miniature
novel (qtd. in Dessner 58). Hence, it is quite safe to assert that the body of this work of literature is
rich in imagery, various motifs and symbols. The war imagery is just the one of the most discussed
issues (e.g., Hipkiss 577 579). According to Lawrence Jay Dessner, [n]ot a page in The Country
Husband is without at least one explicit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suburbia in The Country Husband The story under discussion is a perfect reflection of the idea that,
[b]ehind ... the seemingly perfect suburban landscape there are personal traumas and deeply rooted
psychological problems within the families: dysfunctional marriages and families, adultery,
mendacity, and false parent child relationships (Szélpál, par. 19). In January 1956 The Country
Husband won the O.Henry Award for the best story of 1955 (Donaldson 147). There are
approximately twenty six suburban stories, and all, unlike the urban or expatriate stories, are
outstanding. Though the six stories mentioned [ The Country Husband , The Swimmer , The Death of
Justina , The Brigadier and Golf Widow , The Housebreaker of Shady Hill and O Youth and Beauty! ]
constitute an estimable touchstone, the others are deemed the lesser only by comparative standards

The Sunflower on the Possibilities and Limits of...
Forgiveness is to stop feeling angry, to stop blaming someone for the way they made a person feel,
and stop feeling victims of whatever wickedness was directed towards them. Is forgiveness necessary?
Can everyone be forgiven despite the circumstances? If forgiveness depends on the situation, then is it
necessary at all? Does forgiveness allow someone to continue their life in peace? Is forgiving someone
who causes physical pain to someone, as a pose to forgiving someone who murdered a member of the
family the same? If someone can forgive one of these acts so easily can the other be forgiven just as
easy? Forgiveness allows for someone to come to terms with what they have experienced. In the case
of murder forgiveness is necessary because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conversation between Wiesenthal and Bolek is another example of forgiveness is necessary. When
Wiesenthal tells Bolek of what he experienced in the dying SS man s room, Bolek says he describes it
as a man who showed signs of repentance, genuine, sincere repentance (Wiesenthal 82). He means
that Wiesenthal believes the dying SS man s apology was sincere. He believes that Wiesenthal seen his
apology as genuine and that he deserved the mercy of forgiveness (Wiesenthal 82). Wiesenthal spots a
sunflower behind a bush, he takes it as the sunflower has come to remind [him] (Wiesenthal 84) of
what he describes as a feeling of duty (Wiesenthal 84). Wiesenthal duty (Wiesenthal 85) and his
planning on visiting the mother of the deceased SS man show that he is beginning to realize that he
needs to come to terms with his experienced at the hospital in Lemberg. He visits her for closure and
ultimately to decide within himself if he should finally forgive the man responsible for the murder of
hundreds of innocent Jewish people.
Edward H. Flannery states that The Sunflower presents an important moral question (Flannery 135).
Flannery argues in favor of forgiveness. He states that Karl, the dying SS man, could had asked for
forgiveness for what he had done (Flannery 137) not forgiveness on the behalf of others. Flannery
states that

A Critical Analysis Of The Theory Of Endosymbiosis And It...
A critical analysis of the Theory of Endosymbiosis and it s supporting evidence
Abstract
Introduction
The endosymbiotic theory is an evolutionary theory explaining the origin of Eukaryotic cells from
Prokaryotic, and is at present; the most widely accepted evolutionary theory of the Eukaryotic cell.
The theory explains the origins of mitochondria and chloroplasts and their double membranes,
suggesting that chloroplasts and mitochondria represent formerly free living bacteria that were taken
into a cell as an endosymbiont. Molecular evidence suggests that mitochondria developed from
proteobacteria and chloroplasts from cyanobacteria. It is thought that the Prokaryotes may have
entered the host cell as a parasite or source of nutrient for the host, however avoided digestion. The
primitive chloroplast may have provided the host cell with crucial nutrients, and the primitive
mitochondrion may have aided the exploitation of oxygen for the extraction of energy. In return the
host cell offered a protected environment for the Prokaryotes to live in. This was the beginning of a
symbiotic relationship between the primitive chloroplast and mitochondria, and the Eukaryotic cell.
The theory was ridiculed for years due its controversial nature, however in 1967 Lynn Margulis, a
biologist from Boston University, developed the modern Serial Endosymbiosis Theory.
Primary Endosymbiosis vs. Secondary Endosymbiosis
Primary endosymbiosis involves the engulfment of a bacterium by another

The Effects Of Television On A Stellar Binge Watching Show...
causing the viewers mind to drift. Whereas if shows are short with less complex plot lines I find
myself inclined to watch the next episode, after all what s another twenty minutes of my life. This
essentially minimizes the risk and time commitment for the viewer, cutting their new planned viewing
time in half. With shorter episodes, audience members can still experience an escape from their
everyday lives and be entertained without having to dedicated a large amount time to their television
watching habits. This allows fans to reap the same benefits from watching a longer show, without
having to give up precious time.
While instant gratification and lesser time commitments are two key factors in determining a stellar

Watching television in the traditional way, like on a television set in a shared space can bring up many
distractions. External factors like watching a show with other people or background noise can create
distractions that drastically effect a viewers watching experience, thus decreasing their investment in
the show. This is why I much prefer to watch television shows on a computer or tablet with
headphones on. This promotes escapism and decreases, if not eliminates outside distractions. If I am
very concentrated on the show I am watching, then I become much more likely to view the next
episode and begin a binge watching spiral. This same concept goes to show why viewing a show in a
shared setting with distractions decreases the likelihood of binge watching as viewers cannot achieve a
high level of escapism and become less invested in the show.
Even though the medium plays a crucial role in binge watching, it is also important to take into
account the role commercials play in one s television viewing experience. Commercials serves as a
form of distraction when it comes to television watching, as they disrupt a viewer s concentration.
These increased distractions again prove why watching television in the traditional sense, like on
network television, decreases habits of binge watching. But what about when online streaming
services have commercials as well, does this change the way people binge watch? Video streaming

Reflective Essay About Math
There is a short list of things that keep me up at night. Beyond being anxious or too excited for
something that s happening tomorrow, math is the most common offender. Ironic because math is
infamous for making students sleep. When I get my head wrapped around a problem, I cannot seem to
sleep until I have come to some satisfactory conclusion or found a way to get my mind off of it.
Although, holding my sleep hostage really is a great way to make me solve the problem! I don t just
think about it when I sleep, it also invades my thoughts when I m trying to focus on an audiobook in
the car or as I am walking and taking in the scenery of early morning Harrisburg on my way to school.
I love thinking about math and the reward of finding a problem s solution is ever so satisfying. I know
that whatever I focus on in my future has to involve these kinds of problems, the problems that keep
me up at night and entertain my thoughts throughout the day.
I also, however, love to learn about the sciences. I am ever curious about the make up of molecular
compounds, the interaction of particles at the subatomic level, unification theory, the origin of mass,
spooky action at a distance (one of my favorites. Thanks, Einstein,) physics influence on my view of
functions, entanglement, and the mathematics of electrical systems. This list is just the start; I have yet
to start asking the deep questions in biology, anthropology, and other sciences! As if it isn t hard
enough to choose a major

What Is The Theme Of Midnight Dreary
Poe s Gothic work exceled at portraying its theme, death, and the effect it has on the living. Poe
employs the use of symbols to depict and impersonate the meaning he is instilling of his readers. He
leads us into exploring the speaker s journey of emotions and self obscurity. Poe transports his readers
immediately to the scene with his use of imagery, midnight dreary (Line 1), bleak December (Line 7).
Establishing a very cold, gloomy and dark setting, one that the speaker connects directly to since he is
full with sorrow (Line 9).
In the first stanza, a speaker who is feeling weak and weary (Line 1) is introduced. Over many a

Amp Meeting Reflection
Today I went to my first AMP meeting. It was completely different than I expected, but I think that
will turn out to be a good thing. In the beginning I thought this was a program for youth to attend
voluntarily, and I thought most of the attendees would be from families with foster or kinship care. I
was wrong, as most of the attendees were from group homes around Ames and they were there as part
of their recovery process. This shocked me a little but in just the short amount of time I spent with
them I grew to really like them. I think that often youth in group homes are stigmatized and thought of
as bad kids, when in reality most of them just haven t had the support they need or grew up in poor
environments that lead them to where they are.

Weight Loss Diets And Its Effect On Human Body
Weight Loss Diets and Its Effect on Human Body Diet is a word that comes from the Greek words
meaning way of life. Diet is, therefore, a lifestyle of people over an extended period. Today diet has
become the most discussed issue in the society today. People seem to have been reluctant and ignorant
to monitoring their diets and it is because of this that we have had diet related issues such as obesity,
underweight, bulimia, and anorexia. In the world today as much as some people want to add weight
majority are ready to do anything just to cut on their weight. Currently in the market today, people
have come up with weight loss diets to supplement the normal exercise program that is meant to cut
on weight and maintain body fitness. The main reason as to why people go for a weight loss diet
rather than register for a gymnasium class is that this does not require workouts that make them tired
and sweaty. However, one thing that they fail to understand is the fact that these weight loss diets has
some effects on the human body in one way or the other. In this discussion, we are going to analyze all
these effects caused by weight loss diets on the market today. There are different types of weight loss
diets, and these include the Atkins diet, south beach diet, the pritikin diet, zone diet, and paluo diet.
To begin with, the Atkins diet is in which the weight loss patient is put on a diet high in protein and fat
but low on carbohydrate. According to this type of diet, it is

A Comparison of Two Media Texts Essay
A Comparison of Two Media Texts I am going to compare two articles about medical testing on
animals. One is a newspaper article written by Polly Toynbee and is called Sorry, but I think dying
people are more important than dumb animals, this was published in the Guardian. The other is a
leaflet with the title It s a crying shame which is design for animal aid. The Guardian news article is
for medical testing on animals. The Animal Aid is against medical testing on animals. Both texts are
aimed at the general public who are old enough to have an educated opinion. The newspaper article

The picture of Polly Toynbee in the article from the Guardian does not affect the argument and in my
opinion serves no purpose because it has no relevance to the topic of the article. The picture on the
front of the Animal Aid leaflet has the purpose of showing how animals suffer during and after they
have been put through a series of test that harm them. I think it is a very powerful image and supports
the leaflets objective. The other two images on the reverse side of the Animal Aid leaflet have the
same affect as the main image on the front. They both portray the suffering of animals during and after
harmful tests. Again I think they are very powerful and they support the objectives of the leaflet. It s a
crying shame is the title for the Animal Aid. It links in with the picture on the front because the dog
seems to be crying. The two combined are very powerful and create a sympathetic attitude for the
reader so they are more likely to agree and donate. The words shame does not represent anger towards
the persons who carry out the medical tests, it is a calm word so it makes you sympathise towards the
animals. It meets its purpose of making the reader pity the animals. The other two on the reverse of the
leaflet serve the same purpose as the main image on the front. The image from the Guardian article
does not relate to medical testing on animals because images of

Analysis Of A Bowling Essay
Bowling There are a lot of steps for bowling. The very first step is to find your weight of the bowling
ball and your shoe size. When you start bowling every person is different on where they need to stand
at and how far back or how far forward. By the time you bowl for a while you will find out on where
you need to stand. I stand on the left by the second dot and throw my ball on the second arrow on the
right. People that bowl with straight balls stand in the middle and just throw it down the lane. When I
first started bowling I just threw a ball down the lane. But now I throw a curveball that comes back
inside. So what that all means I can stand on the left and throw it on the right side of the lane and if the
timing is all right it will come back and it will come right into the pocket. I m sure all of you guys are
wondering what the pocket means and what it means is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A straight ball is where the ball stays in one spot of doesn t move at all unless the lanes are really dry
then it will hook. A curve ball moves no matter what and if the lanes are dry the curve ball will hook
extremely. So that is the difference between the two different types of bowling balls. The object of
bowling is to knock down as many pins as possible. For High School bowling you bowl two
individuals games and the five bakers. The most common baker style is to be the 5 person format
where bowler 1 bowls frames 1 and 6, bowler 2 bowls frames 2 and 7, bowler 3 bowls frames 3 and 8,
bowler 4 bowls frames 4 and 9 and bowler 5 bowls frames 5 and 10. The order is set at the beginning
of the match but can be changed after the completion of each game. So these are the pretty basic steps
I do when I bowl. And you guys may think bowling is a hard sport to be good at but it just takes time.
It took me like three years to get pretty good at it. It s a pretty competitive sport if you bowl the right

Topic: Space Debris
As Earth becomes more technologically innovated and crowded, space has become the answer of
many of our problems. Over the past couple of decades, we have launched numerous contraptions into
space such as satellites in which many currently orbit the Earth. These contraptions can be used for
reconnaissance, communications, weather, search and rescue, navigation, exploration, television, and
much more. Not a day passes by where we do not make use of these contraptions in our lives.
However, as we progress towards the future, more and more of these satellites will be launched into
orbit and as the fate of technology, they are bound to fail at some point and often get abandoned. ...

Despite the rapidly increasing amount of space junk, planning of the clean up of this junk is underway.
Every year, the amount of debris orbiting the Earth grows, creating an increasingly hazardous zone for
satellites and even astronauts. Although some objects or shrapnel look small, their destructive force is
greatly magnified by the hostile conditions of space. According to NASA, pieces as small as softballs
can be traveling at an astonishing 17,500 miles per hour. Due to these enormous orbital speeds, any of
these objects have the potential to damage or destroy the satellites that we depend on. In fact, even a
tiny paint fleck has caused enough damage to the windshields of spacecraft that the windows had to be
replaced (Space Debris and Human Spacecraft). In addition to damaged windows, images show that
even objects less than half an inch in diameter can puncture through the structure of the space shuttle
Endeavour (Trouble in orbit: the growing problem of space junk). The fact that such puny pieces of
junk can cause such severe damage upon space shuttles suggests that spacecraft are mere inflated
balloons to space due to the high velocities objects are travelling. This only makes situations worse for
humans as there is no really protected inside or

Software Is Tightly Integrated With The Matlab Environment
Simulink software is tightly integrated with the MATLAB environment. It requires MATLAB to run,
depending on it to define and evaluate model and block parameters. Simulink can also utilize many
MATLAB features. For example, Simulink can use the MATLAB environment to:
Define model inputs.
Store model outputs for analysis and visualization.
Perform functions within a model, through integrated calls to MATLAB operators and functions
Concept of signal and logic flow:
In Simulink, data/information from various blocks is sent to another block by lines connecting the
relevant blocks. Signals can be generated and fed into blocks dynamic / static).Data can be fed into

Continuous and discrete systems:
All dynamic systems can be analyzed as continuous or discrete time systems. Simulink allows you to

continous and descrete systems
Non linear operators:
A main advantage of using tools such as Simulink is the ability to simulate non linear systems and
arrive at results without having to solve analytically. It is very difficult to arrive at an analytical
solution for a system having non linearities such as saturation, signup function, limited slew rates etc.
In Simulation, since systems are analyzed using iterations, non linearities are not a hindrance. One
such could be a saturation block, to indicate a physical limitation on a parameter, such as a voltage

Switches are the logical equivalent of if then statements in programming. simulink blocks
Mathematical operations:
Mathematical operators such as products, sum, logical operations such as and, or, etc. .can be

excelled in military and academic pursuits. Although an average student in his early years, he made
excellent grades in his 30s while earning his MBA at George Washington University, despite lacking

Essay About Buying A Home
For many people, owning a home is the fulfillment of long term dream. For others, it is their worst
nightmare. Purchasing a home is one of the biggest financial decisions one will make in one s life
time. It is therefore imperative to carefully consider the pros and cons of homeownership.
Advantages of owning a home
There is pride of ownership of the house. When you buy a house it becomes your legal property,
which allows you greater freedom in its use without restrictions often enforced by a Landlord.
Buying a house serves as a means of storing value and there are likely chances of appreciation in the
value of the house. i.e. The value of a home will appreciate over time and if you decide to sell, you
can earn a profit off the sale.
Owning a house is also a lifestyle choice. Owning a home offers the long term benefits of security,
equity and potential growth in personal wealth.
Being a Homeowner allows you creative control of your property. You can alter the property,
including décor changes, landscaping and renovations, to suit your needs and your style.
Owning a house is a means of tax reduction for mortgage interest. More so, there is an opportunity to
save money in the long term as there are possible tax deductions related to income generating
properties.
Owning a house gives you the option to refinance your bond amount should you wish to withdraw a
large amount of money to pay for major purchases.

Disaster Recovery Plan Executive Summary
For an organization to properly and effectively handle a disaster several keys steps must occur, the
first is creating and documenting proper policies and procedures to implement once the disaster
recovery plan is implemented. The second is creating an executive summary of the DR plan that will
outline the overall plan. The last key step is identifying teams and individuals that will be part of and
responsible for the disaster recovery plan and process.
The DR team member will be on call and will be issued a company device. In addition, the DR team
members are expected to have contact information of all team members and other identified personnel.
The DR team members will have access to all organizations system information to include,

Does The Brightness in Coloration of The Papilio Troilus in Larval Stage Affect The Survival Rate
When They Encountered with Predators?
Introduction
Papilio Troilus also known as the spicebush swallowtail, they will go through three stages of
development in their larval phase. In the first stage, they resemble birds dropping in brown and white
color. As they growing into their forth instar, they turning to a green yellow color with black dots on
their back to resemble snakes. When Troilus larvas nearly the pupate time their coloration changes
again to deep orange. While the brown and white coloration of the larva in first instar can be
considered as a form of mimicry, which encourage their predators to leave them alone, the bright
green yellow color of their forth instar can be recognized as aposematic, also known as warning color.
(K.L.Prudic 2007) The specific color work with black dots on the back of those larvas, is mimicking
the appearance of snake which is the natural enemy of their predator.
Aposematic is a defensive strategy prey spices developed to increase their survival rate from
predation. Coloration is one of the many ways to warning their potential predator, visually express
their toxicity and unpalatability. (K.L.Prudic 2007) Both the beneficial function and mechanisms in
molecular level of aposematic in the genus Papilio has been well researched and documented. (E.V.

Rock And Roll History
The begins of rock and roll have always been challenged as to when they were first established. The
most common argument is that is first started in Southern United states, the birth place of many of the
first early rock and roll music hits. As the south always had a huge majority of slaves from Africa and
immigrants from Europe, through the gathering of different influences that created a connection
between African musical traditions with European instrumentation. Immigration of once slaves to
populated urban centers including New York City and Chicago meant that both the black and white
communities were living in close proximity, resulting in hearing each other s music and even began to
follow and impersonate each other s fashions .

Food Companies And Its Effects On The Human Body
Thanks to current technologies, it seems that healthy foods are easily within reach. Multiple food
companies now offer products that encourage a nutritious diet, such as dairy products with reduced fat
or pastas that are protein enriched. However, these enhanced foods are not as beneficial as countless
consumers believe. For example, foods with added or reduced nutritional qualities, such as protein
enriched and/or all natural are highly processed products causing more damage than benefit to the
human body. Hence why, marketing ploys that certain food companies use, are the most harmful kind
of American bullshit since they create major misconceptions of what is and what is not healthy foods.

How To Switch Roles In Johann Sebastian Bach
The sixteenth notes in the red box acts as a junction into having the two soloists switch roles and gives
the intro to the second theme a lot of suspended and anticipated notes in the sequence. Moreover, the
blue box in figure 7.1 represents the exact same lyrical line in figure 5.2 except this time the roles are
now switched; the first violin solo showcase the moving sixteenth notes first, followed by a group of
eighth notes with the second violin solo, then the second violin solo repeats the sixteenth notes
ascending and ends the bar with the two soloists together with eighth notes just like the previous
figure. As a continuation of using repetition, Bach goes as far as to have the soloists in the second
theme the measures after the group of simultaneous eighth notes switch roles again and have the
second violin solo start the theme and have the first violin solo follow as a sort of echo effect.
Repeated Polyphonic Lines of Music In this next section, C, the figure 8.1 shows first violin solo has

Adoption, Domestic And International Adoption Essay

Many people want to have their own children, but what are other options? Adoption gets helpless
children out of the foster care system, but having their own child gives them a better connection.
Three reasons why parents should adopt is because it helps get kids out of foster care, adopted
families have all the same rights as families formed from birth, and adopting a child helps parents start
a family if they can t get pregnant. Although some people think that having their own child is better,
adoption is better because it gives children new and permanent homes, also it helps parents start a
family. Furthermore, adoption is a way for children who cannot be cared for by their birth parents to
become members of another family. There are two different types of adoption, Domestic and
International adoption. Domestic adoption is when a child is born in a country and adopted in the
same country. International adoption is when a child living in one country is adopted by a family
living in a different country. Through adoption, children s legal ties with their birth parents are needed
so they can begin a relationship approved by law with their adoptive parents. (Adoption) Adoption
helps provide children with new and permanent homes. Each year, 130,000 children are adopted,
increasingly from other countries. (Adoption) As you can see many children have benefitted from the
adoption process, 130,000 children are now happy in

Yes, research varies according to the nature of arguments and their personal information can also be
included in the entire material or changes of the information. For this reason, it will be unethical to

2. Which method do you think is more likely to produce valid information participant or
nonparticipant observation? Why? The valid information is mostly expected from the grounds of what
are the changes in behaviour and how much responses are ethical. In this regard, the most of the
responses are valid from focus group analysis, lab research and questionnaire as well as interview

3. Are there any kinds of behaviors that should not be observed? Explain your thinking. If so, give an
example. The behaviors those are immediate after any specific event or the influence from external
parties must not be observed or reported. The management and the ideas for this advancement is
required for all stages.
4. What would you say is the biggest advantage of participant observation? The biggest disadvantage?
The biggest advantage of the participant observation is their sincere behaviour and feeling the
situation accordingly. The disadvantage is looking for the issues those are not related to the field as it
can be the personal biasedness.

Geographic Features And Spatial Distribution Essay
In two dimensional space, geographic features have spatial references. Central tendency must
incorporate the coordinates that define the location of the features or objects. This in the spatial
context will be the mean center, the weighted mean center, or the median center of a spatial point
distribution. There is no essential correct way of calculating the center of spatial distribution (no one
correct way to calculate in all situations, although appropriate methods to calculate for various
settings. The interpretation of the result of the calculation can be determined by the nature of the

The mean center is the average location of a set of points. These points can represent regional
subdivisions, landslides, water wells, and such in a region. It is the geographic center of the set of
observations. In the study area, the average of X bar and Y bar coordinate is taken of all the
features/observations. The mean center of X and Y are X bar and Y bar respectively. For the i th

The weighted mean center is the measure of the weighted geographic center of the set of observations,
as the weighted average Xw bar and Yw bar coordinate are seen of the features/observations in the

Aladdin The Musical Reflection
The theater was largely attended by children and toddlers. To my surprise, I noticed that there were a
decent number of adults attending the show too. I was not sure if they were dragged into the show by
their own children or that they came to watch the performance willingly. Unfortunately, I was dragged
into the theater to watch Aladdin the Musical with my younger siblings during a family outing in
Disneyland. I tried my best to spot other adolescents in the theater. However, it felt like I was the only
one. Embarrassed, I sat in deeper into my seat, hoping that no adults could find and criticize me.
Aladdin the Musical uses the same plot from the movie, Aladdin as a foundation for their own plot.
The plot is about how a thief was destined to be the prince of Agrabah with the help of a powerful
genie and how an evil vizier named Jafar desired to take over the kingdom of Agrabah by abusing the
genie s powers. As the emcee made his announcements, I assumed that I would fall asleep on the
cushioned seat from all the boredom I would experience from a children s fairytale. Surprisingly, I

Efficient Market Hypothesis For The Real World
Efficient Market Hypothesis has been controversial issues among researcher for decades. Until now,
there is no united conclusion whether capital markets are efficiency or not. In 1960s, Fama (1970)
believed that market is very efficient despite there are some trivial contradicted tests. Until recently,
both empirical and theatrical efficient market hypothesis was being disputed by behavior finance
economist. They have found that investor have psychological biases and found evidences that some
stocks outperform other stocks. Moreover, there are evidences prove that market are not efficient for
instance financial crisis, stock market bubble, and some investor can earn abnormal return which
happening regularly in stock markets all over the world. Therefore, the purpose of this essay is to
demonstrate that Efficient Market Hypothesis in stock (capital) markets does not exist in the real
world by proofing four outstanding unrealistic conditions that make market efficient: information is
widely available and cost free, investor are rational, independent and unbiased, There is no liquidity
problem in stock market, and finally stock prices has no pattern.
Efficient capital market It was generally believed that securities markets were extremely efficient in
reflecting information about the stock market as a whole (Fama 1970). To extent that when there is

Misogynistic and Sexist Undertones in One Flew Over the...
From the moment that the apple touched Eve s lips, women have been seen as an embodiment of all

metaphorical rape gives a further misogynistic tone, as McMurphy is exerting sexual dominance as
well as stopping her from being able to speak out against him, or any man. Because this is McMurphy
s final action, it is seen as his greatest one. Therefore, the man who can break a woman is seen as an
ideal specimen.
Size, both physical and metaphorical, plays a large role in the misogynistic references in the ward. The
Chief makes constant references to people s size. However, size is relative. One cannot be big without
someone else being small. When the nurse is in full control, the Chief sees her as big as a tractor (5).
With her great size, Nurse Ratched is squashing the

Essay on Nationalism in German Music During the Early...
Nationalism in German Music During the Early Romantic Period
Until the nineteenth century, music was generally regarded as an international language. Folk music
had always been in place and linked directly with particular regions. On a larger scale though,
European music was a device for expression through the application of Italian techniques and styles.
In other words, its technical vocabulary was Italian, and from the time of the early baroque, European
music, in general, had evolved its styles and technical devices from the developments of Italian
composers. Furthermore, court opera was nearly always performed in Italian, whether in Dresden or in
London, no matter who composed it or where it was performed. For example, ... Show more content

Sonatas written a few years later are designated for the Hammerklavier and not for the pianoforte,
Italian for piano. Such subtle changes in traditional composition direction foreshadowed ever
increasing tendencies toward German nationalistic ideas in music. As Henry Raynor puts it, the
Napoleonic invasions which turned Beethoven from a simple revolutionary into a patriotic Austrian
revolutionary seem to have made him feel that his own language was a perfectly satisfactory way of
telling pianists how he wanted his music played. These early feelings of nationalism, if not just for
Beethoven, stemmed from the years of unity under the auspices of Napoleon s Empire, which gave a
considerable portion of central Europe reason to realize their collective similarities. This large area
shared a common language and historical legacy. Traditions were similar as were aspirations. Indeed,
...the complex that was to become the German Empire presented a more or less homogeneous state,
united by language and culture but forced by political organization into political disunity...
Nonetheless, the idea of German unity had surfaced years earlier, long before the revolutionary
borders of Central Europe were rationalized by Napoleon and before Beethoven s use of German
vocabulary for instruction in his music. The prominent German Enlightenment thinkers Johann
Gottfried Herder and Johann Gottlieb Fichte had espoused that

Business Cycle Case Study
1. In your own words, explain what the Business Cycle is. Business cycle is Gross Domestic Product
(GDP) measure. The cycle is an increase and decrease of monetary value throughout the entire cycle.
a. Why it is important for a company to try and forecast the Business Cycle? It is important for a
company to try and forecast the Business Cycle to indicate practices beneficial and not beneficial to
the organization with the goal of an upward trend line and minimal increase and decrease to GDP for

c. If you were to design a statistical sample in order to estimate a demand curve, would you conduct a
random sample of the general population, a targeted sample, or a randomized targeted sample?
Explain. If I were to design a statistical sample, I would design a random sample in order to estimate a
demand curve. A random sample is choosing any of the population for survey, which might tell me
what a random person expects to see in a product. Other scenarios might dictate the better approach,
an example is if you wanted to find out what would be the most popular beard dye than you might
consider using a target sample to target the male population.
d. Assume your staff presents you with 2 different regressions of a demand curve for your most
important product. One of the regressions has an R squared of 0.86 and the other has an R squared of
0.61. Assume that both regressions have a t value for the coefficient of 1.8. Which would you choose

Essay on The Mirroring Lives of a Jamaican and a Rastafarian
The Mirroring Lives of a Jamaican and a Rastafarian
Introduction
This paper is a series of two interviews that I had over the course of the semester. I used both of the
interviews as a series of research. I then used this research and supported it with published work. The
first interview occurred when I was in Jamaica. I randomly crossed paths with Peter. He informed my
friends and I that he was a Rastafarian. We spoke with him for about two hours on the beach. He
informed us about his religion and his lifestyle. Unaware at the time that I would use this knowledge
in my paper I am pleasantly surprised that I was able to transgress this information.
The second interview was with Marie Debal. She is one of my sister s clients. Upon ... Show more

Peter s response:
I do not come down here to Negril very often any more. When I was younger my friends and I would
come down and enjoy the beaches. Now this place is such a tourist trap.
Jamaicans are dressed like Rastafarians with their long dreads and try to pretend that they are like us.
They try and sell tourist anything from drugs to crafts. Please do not take what I am saying the wrong
way. It just makes me so frustrated when Jamaicans try to imitate the Rastafarian lifestyle. These
Jamaicans may have long dreads and look like a Rastafarians but they do not know what it is like to
truly live and be a Rastafarian.
Rastafarian culture is very different from a Jamaican. We live in the mountains away from the tourist
area. I spend all my days and nights waiting for the signs of Haile Selassie. I understand that these
Jamaicans have to make a living I just wished that they did not mimic our lifestyle.
Marie s response:
The difference between a Jamaican and a Rastafarian is probably similar to asking what is the
difference between an American and a Catholic. Rastafarians are people who reside in the mountains
of Jamaica and practice the Rastafari

Economic Inequality In The United States Has Risen And
Economic inequality in the United States has risen and absolute growth has slowed over the past half
century. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The U.S. s
inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude of factors
that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of economic
inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to flourish in
achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other forms of
economic influence (Gelman 1213). The proposal for this paper is that there is a factor that is
unaccounted for, in which it is possibly impacting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will reach
levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina, Glaeser,
and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major predictor of
one s support for redistribution.
The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the
support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility and
move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple terms,
in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as opposed to
baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for individuals would
typically come at the expense of other individuals.
The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise in
inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median voter s
household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The major
point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution in the
United States. Rather, the change has come in the large number of residents in the U.S. who lack
citizenship.

Communication Research Methods
Donald Trump has suggested that a contest should be held as to which television network covers him
in the most dishonest, corrupt and or/distorted way, as he has again labeled many of the outlets fake
news. It is one of some attacks by the president against the press coverage he receives, with the most
vitriolic coming back in August when he referred the assembled journalists as truly dishonest and sick
people. Mr. Trump also used the term your favorite president, a moniker he has used recently that is
despite his approval ratings telling a different story.
Literature Review The press is basic to vote based system, and popularity based race is
comprehensibly deprived of the press. An open and sensible contest is not only about the prospect of
voting and the culture the way to make a selection, yet around a hands on process where the
electorates participate in the open verbal confrontation and provide adequate information on the
meetings, approaches, competitors and the verdict process on the situation with a precise aim of
settling on sophisticated choices. Besides, the press drives around as a critical watch to popularity
founded decisions, defending the frankness in the procedure.
During the 2005 gathering to commemorate World Press Freedom Day worldwide, an affirmation was
formed which concentrated on independent and mixed press are rudimentary for assuring

How Did Alfred Hitchcock Build Suspense In North By Northwest

Alfred Hitchcock. Alfred Hitchcock is famous for many movies in the thriller genre such as Psycho,
Vertigo and Rear Window. Alfred Hitchcock was a famous director well renowned for his style.

The first tier is the green backdrop with the title of the film and the mains stars. Then the sequence
moves to the second tier while still showing the credits the stars of the film it fades into the Manhattan
building, setting the scene as well as giving us a sense of where we are. Then finally it fades into the
busy streets of people hustling and bustling through the streets. This sets the scene for the viewer and
gives the viewer an idea of what to expect throughout the movie. The music used in North by
Northwest is used to incite tension within a shot a clear example of this is during the Mount Rushmore
chase where Kendal and Thornhill were running away from VanDamm and his men. The consistent
cutting between Thornhill and Vandamm as they were running away while the music pick up when
VanDamm gets closer and the escape routes of Thornhill and Kendal are cut off one by one. In North
by Northwest , many of the dramatic scenes for example the crop duster scene, were shot with rear
projection. A technique were the background of the scene has already been filmed and the actor is
place d in front of it. The easiest example of this is when Thornhill gets into a taxi and then film of the
taxi driving past buildings and streets is played behind the windows to give the illusion of the car

  • 2. Toussaint Loverture And The Haitian Revolution Documentary Assignment: Egalite For All: Toussaint Louverture and the Haitian Revolution How did the French Revolution impact events on San Domingue (Haiti)? What did the revolution mean for the French? For Haitians? Why was this both contradictory and dangerous? The success and vigorous pursuit of freedom from oppression in the French Revolution inspired the Haitians to believe that they were capable of doing the same; the Haitians, being treated like animals, wanted their inherent rights. The overbearing French governing body had collapsed and the Third Estate was likely to receive a brighter future. The Haitians were still locked down as property and animals, but they craved to have the inherent rights that all men are privileged to. The French got their rights while the Haitians did not; this was quite the volatile scenario ready to fall off the self and spark revolution. Why would a slave in Haiti not last more than 3 years upon arrival from Africa? The system was incredibly brutal and non lenient to the slaves, and all the while, disease was capable of ravaging them. Many various types of grievous torture were a regular occurrence in Haiti. How would you describe Toussaint Loverture(The Black Spartacus)? How did he come to lead the revolution? Loverture was headstrong, passionate man ready to use his wit to fight for what he believed right. After a fortunate childhood in slavery and freedom, Loverture was able to bare witness to multiple societal perspectives. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparison Of The Big Boy And Big Two-Hearted River By... Nick Adams, a mentally and physically wounded individual, featured in Big Two Hearted River by Ernest Hemingway, written in 1925, experiences an emotional journey through the process of fishing. Whereas Big Boy, a black boy in Big Boy Leaves Home by Richard Wright and written only a decade later in 1936, endures the racial tensions between blacks and whites in the South and the struggles Big Boy encounters to ensure his survival. While some readers may claim that both short stories appear as though there is a resolution or ending, there is a larger scope to both of the stories endings in which the reader is not fully certain of the outcomes of Nick Adams and Big Boy. Therefore the endings are suspended and leave the reader guessing. The suspended endings of both stories impress differentiating after lasting emotions on the reader as the motives for which each main character heads towards the cities diverge. Big Boy Leaves Home imparts a hopeful but skeptical ending perspective due to the uncertainty if Big Boy is truly safer away from the South, whereas Big Two Hearted River conveys a positivistic ending for Nick Adams as a Hemingway code hero his healing process. Big Boy, an overgrown black teenager that lands himself in the crosshairs of racial prejudice after killing a white man, struggles through multiple obstacles to escape the Deep South and head to the North. After having spent the night in the kiln and fighting off a snake and a dog, Big Boy boards a truck headed for, presumably, Chicago. However, Wright creates uncertainty for Big Boy s future even if he does reach the North, let alone Chicago itself. Big Boy has no finances, no shelter, nor from the reader s understanding, extended family outside of the South. At the end of the story, The truck sped over the asphalt mines, sped northward, jolting him, shaking out of his bosom the crumbs of corn bread, making them dance with the splinters and sawdust in the golden blades of sunshine (Wright 53). The crumbs of the corn bread shaking out demonstrate the mental growth and emotional hardening that Big Boy obtained from his life threatening situations the previous night but also as a symbol of shaking out the last of home and starting ... Promoting health and wellness can only enhance the quality of life and functional ability of our elderly patients (Tabloski, 2014). The purpose of this post is to discuss what wellness in chronic illness mean to me. I will also share my thoughts and ideas about chronic illness with my colleagues. Improving quality care among chronic illnesses, such as arthritis, diabetes, and coronary heart disease, is a global healthcare problem (Gibbons et al., 2017). To me, wellness in chronic illness means preventing further progression and promotion of a healthy lifestyle. There are three nursing interventions to promote wellness for our older adult population. • 6. What Is The Theme Of The Country Husband By John Cheever 1. Introduction Literary scholars and critics have often commented upon the structural complexity of John Cheever s short story The Country Husband . For example, George W. Hunt argues that it is a long story, so rich in accident and in emotional colorations that it reads more like a novella (273). Often cited is also Vladimir Nabokov s expression that the story under discussion is [a] miniature novel (qtd. in Dessner 58). Hence, it is quite safe to assert that the body of this work of literature is rich in imagery, various motifs and symbols. The war imagery is just the one of the most discussed issues (e.g., Hipkiss 577 579). According to Lawrence Jay Dessner, [n]ot a page in The Country Husband is without at least one explicit ... Forgiveness is to stop feeling angry, to stop blaming someone for the way they made a person feel, and stop feeling victims of whatever wickedness was directed towards them. Is forgiveness necessary? Can everyone be forgiven despite the circumstances? If forgiveness depends on the situation, then is it necessary at all? Does forgiveness allow someone to continue their life in peace? Is forgiving someone who causes physical pain to someone, as a pose to forgiving someone who murdered a member of the family the same? If someone can forgive one of these acts so easily can the other be forgiven just as easy? Forgiveness allows for someone to come to terms with what they have experienced. When Wiesenthal tells Bolek of what he experienced in the dying SS man s room, Bolek says he describes it as a man who showed signs of repentance, genuine, sincere repentance (Wiesenthal 82). He means that Wiesenthal believes the dying SS man s apology was sincere. He believes that Wiesenthal seen his apology as genuine and that he deserved the mercy of forgiveness (Wiesenthal 82). Wiesenthal spots a sunflower behind a bush, he takes it as the sunflower has come to remind [him] (Wiesenthal 84) of what he describes as a feeling of duty (Wiesenthal 84). Wiesenthal duty (Wiesenthal 85) and his planning on visiting the mother of the deceased SS man show that he is beginning to realize that he needs to come to terms with his experienced at the hospital in Lemberg. He visits her for closure and ultimately to decide within himself if he should finally forgive the man responsible for the murder of hundreds of innocent Jewish people. Edward H. • 8. A Critical Analysis Of The Theory Of Endosymbiosis And It... A critical analysis of the Theory of Endosymbiosis and it s supporting evidence Abstract Introduction The endosymbiotic theory is an evolutionary theory explaining the origin of Eukaryotic cells from Prokaryotic, and is at present; the most widely accepted evolutionary theory of the Eukaryotic cell. The theory explains the origins of mitochondria and chloroplasts and their double membranes, suggesting that chloroplasts and mitochondria represent formerly free living bacteria that were taken into a cell as an endosymbiont. Molecular evidence suggests that mitochondria developed from proteobacteria and chloroplasts from cyanobacteria. It is thought that the Prokaryotes may have entered the host cell as a parasite or source of nutrient for the host, however avoided digestion. The primitive chloroplast may have provided the host cell with crucial nutrients, and the primitive mitochondrion may have aided the exploitation of oxygen for the extraction of energy. In return the host cell offered a protected environment for the Prokaryotes to live in. This was the beginning of a symbiotic relationship between the primitive chloroplast and mitochondria, and the Eukaryotic cell. The theory was ridiculed for years due its controversial nature, however in 1967 Lynn Margulis, a biologist from Boston University, developed the modern Serial Endosymbiosis Theory. Primary Endosymbiosis vs. Secondary Endosymbiosis Primary endosymbiosis involves the engulfment of a bacterium by another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Watching television in the traditional way, like on a television set in a shared space can bring up many distractions. External factors like watching a show with other people or background noise can create distractions that drastically effect a viewers watching experience, thus decreasing their investment in the show. This is why I much prefer to watch television shows on a computer or tablet with headphones on. This promotes escapism and decreases, if not eliminates outside distractions. If I am very concentrated on the show I am watching, then I become much more likely to view the next episode and begin a binge watching spiral. This same concept goes to show why viewing a show in a shared setting with distractions decreases the likelihood of binge watching as viewers cannot achieve a high level of escapism and become less invested in the show. Even though the medium plays a crucial role in binge watching, it is also important to take into account the role commercials play in one s television viewing experience. Commercials serves as a form of distraction when it comes to television watching, as they disrupt a viewer s concentration. These increased distractions again prove why watching television in the traditional sense, like on network television, decreases habits of binge watching. But what about when online streaming services have commercials as well, does this change the way people binge watch? Video streaming services like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Reflective Essay About Math There is a short list of things that keep me up at night. Beyond being anxious or too excited for something that s happening tomorrow, math is the most common offender. Ironic because math is infamous for making students sleep. When I get my head wrapped around a problem, I cannot seem to sleep until I have come to some satisfactory conclusion or found a way to get my mind off of it. Although, holding my sleep hostage really is a great way to make me solve the problem! I don t just think about it when I sleep, it also invades my thoughts when I m trying to focus on an audiobook in the car or as I am walking and taking in the scenery of early morning Harrisburg on my way to school. I love thinking about math and the reward of finding a problem s solution is ever so satisfying. I am ever curious about the make up of molecular compounds, the interaction of particles at the subatomic level, unification theory, the origin of mass, spooky action at a distance (one of my favorites. In the beginning I thought this was a program for youth to attend voluntarily, and I thought most of the attendees would be from families with foster or kinship care. I was wrong, as most of the attendees were from group homes around Ames and they were there as part of their recovery process. This shocked me a little but in just the short amount of time I spent with them I grew to really like them. Diet is, therefore, a lifestyle of people over an extended period. Today diet has become the most discussed issue in the society today. People seem to have been reluctant and ignorant to monitoring their diets and it is because of this that we have had diet related issues such as obesity, underweight, bulimia, and anorexia. In the world today as much as some people want to add weight majority are ready to do anything just to cut on their weight. Currently in the market today, people have come up with weight loss diets to supplement the normal exercise program that is meant to cut on weight and maintain body fitness. The main reason as to why people go for a weight loss diet rather than register for a gymnasium class is that this does not require workouts that make them tired and sweaty. However, one thing that they fail to understand is the fact that these weight loss diets has some effects on the human body in one way or the other. In this discussion, we are going to analyze all these effects caused by weight loss diets on the market today. The picture of Polly Toynbee in the article from the Guardian does not affect the argument and in my opinion serves no purpose because it has no relevance to the topic of the article. I think it is a very powerful image and supports the leaflets objective. The other two images on the reverse side of the Animal Aid leaflet have the same affect as the main image on the front. They both portray the suffering of animals during and after harmful tests. Again I think they are very powerful and they support the objectives of the leaflet. It s a crying shame is the title for the Animal Aid. It links in with the picture on the front because the dog seems to be crying. The two combined are very powerful and create a sympathetic attitude for the reader so they are more likely to agree and donate. The words shame does not represent anger towards the persons who carry out the medical tests, it is a calm word so it makes you sympathise towards the animals. When you start bowling every person is different on where they need to stand at and how far back or how far forward. By the time you bowl for a while you will find out on where you need to stand. I stand on the left by the second dot and throw my ball on the second arrow on the right. People that bowl with straight balls stand in the middle and just throw it down the lane. When I first started bowling I just threw a ball down the lane. But now I throw a curveball that comes back inside. A curve ball moves no matter what and if the lanes are dry the curve ball will hook extremely. So that is the difference between the two different types of bowling balls. The object of bowling is to knock down as many pins as possible. For High School bowling you bowl two individuals games and the five bakers. The most common baker style is to be the 5 person format where bowler 1 bowls frames 1 and 6, bowler 2 bowls frames 2 and 7, bowler 3 bowls frames 3 and 8, bowler 4 bowls frames 4 and 9 and bowler 5 bowls frames 5 and 10. The order is set at the beginning of the match but can be changed after the completion of each game. So these are the pretty basic steps I do when I bowl. Over the past couple of decades, we have launched numerous contraptions into space such as satellites in which many currently orbit the Earth. These contraptions can be used for reconnaissance, communications, weather, search and rescue, navigation, exploration, television, and much more. Not a day passes by where we do not make use of these contraptions in our lives. However, as we progress towards the future, more and more of these satellites will be launched into orbit and as the fate of technology, they are bound to fail at some point and often get abandoned. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the rapidly increasing amount of space junk, planning of the clean up of this junk is underway. Every year, the amount of debris orbiting the Earth grows, creating an increasingly hazardous zone for satellites and even astronauts. Although some objects or shrapnel look small, their destructive force is greatly magnified by the hostile conditions of space. According to NASA, pieces as small as softballs can be traveling at an astonishing 17,500 miles per hour. Due to these enormous orbital speeds, any of these objects have the potential to damage or destroy the satellites that we depend on. In fact, even a tiny paint fleck has caused enough damage to the windshields of spacecraft that the windows had to be replaced (Space Debris and Human Spacecraft). In addition to damaged windows, images show that even objects less than half an inch in diameter can puncture through the structure of the space shuttle Endeavour (Trouble in orbit: the growing problem of space junk). The fact that such puny pieces of junk can cause such severe damage upon space shuttles suggests that spacecraft are mere inflated balloons to space due to the high velocities objects are travelling. It requires MATLAB to run, depending on it to define and evaluate model and block parameters. Simulink can also utilize many MATLAB features. For example, Simulink can use the MATLAB environment to: Define model inputs. Store model outputs for analysis and visualization. Perform functions within a model, through integrated calls to MATLAB operators and functions Concept of signal and logic flow: In Simulink, data/information from various blocks is sent to another block by lines connecting the relevant blocks. It is very difficult to arrive at an analytical solution for a system having non linearities such as saturation, signup function, limited slew rates etc. In Simulation, since systems are analyzed using iterations, non linearities are not a hindrance. Adoption gets helpless children out of the foster care system, but having their own child gives them a better connection. Three reasons why parents should adopt is because it helps get kids out of foster care, adopted families have all the same rights as families formed from birth, and adopting a child helps parents start a family if they can t get pregnant. Although some people think that having their own child is better, adoption is better because it gives children new and permanent homes, also it helps parents start a family. Furthermore, adoption is a way for children who cannot be cared for by their birth parents to become members of another family. There are two different types of adoption, Domestic and International adoption. Domestic adoption is when a child is born in a country and adopted in the same country. International adoption is when a child living in one country is adopted by a family living in a different country. Through adoption, children s legal ties with their birth parents are needed so they can begin a relationship approved by law with their adoptive parents. (Adoption) Adoption helps provide children with new and permanent homes. Each year, 130,000 children are adopted, increasingly from other countries. • 41. Misogynistic and Sexist Undertones in One Flew Over the... From the moment that the apple touched Eve s lips, women have been seen as an embodiment of all that is evil. This reflects misogynistic societal beliefs that women are below men. While many of the prejudices towards women are hidden in modern American society, some misogynistic stereotypes are still present. In Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, one can see many misogynistic and sexist undertones. Big Nurse Ratched is in a position of authority over a large group of men and is seen as a tyrannical and unjust ruler. McMurphy s final stand against the nurse involves him ripp[ing] her uniform all the way down the front (275) and revealing breasts that she had concealed. With this metaphorical rape, Kesey is equating the men regaining power with sexual dominance over women. The rape of the nurse is seen as a heroic act by McMurphy, which conveys the misogynistic message that men have a right to sexual power over women. The way that McMurphy performs this rape is effectively silencing the nurse, as he had his heavy red fingers [in] the white flesh of her throat (275). Using silence in conjunction with a metaphorical rape gives a further misogynistic tone, as McMurphy is exerting sexual dominance as well as stopping her from being able to speak out against him, or any man. Because this is McMurphy s final action, it is seen as his greatest one. Therefore, the man who can break a woman is seen as an ideal specimen. Size, both physical and metaphorical, plays a large role in the misogynistic references in the ward. The Chief makes constant references to people s size. However, size is relative. One cannot be big without someone else being small. When the nurse is in full control, the Chief sees her as big as a tractor (5). With her great size, Nurse Ratched is squashing the ... Nationalism in German Music During the Early Romantic Period Until the nineteenth century, music was generally regarded as an international language. Folk music had always been in place and linked directly with particular regions. On a larger scale though, European music was a device for expression through the application of Italian techniques and styles. In other words, its technical vocabulary was Italian, and from the time of the early baroque, European music, in general, had evolved its styles and technical devices from the developments of Italian composers. Such subtle changes in traditional composition direction foreshadowed ever increasing tendencies toward German nationalistic ideas in music. As Henry Raynor puts it, the Napoleonic invasions which turned Beethoven from a simple revolutionary into a patriotic Austrian revolutionary seem to have made him feel that his own language was a perfectly satisfactory way of telling pianists how he wanted his music played. These early feelings of nationalism, if not just for Beethoven, stemmed from the years of unity under the auspices of Napoleon s Empire, which gave a considerable portion of central Europe reason to realize their collective similarities. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The U.S. s inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude of factors that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of economic inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to flourish in achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other forms of economic influence (Gelman 1213). Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will reach levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina, Glaeser, and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major predictor of one s support for redistribution. The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility and move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple terms, in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as opposed to baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for individuals would typically come at the expense of other individuals. The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise in inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median voter s household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The major point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution in the United States.
