The Philosopher King
If the choice is between a blind person and a sharp sighted one, isn t it clear which one we ll
need? (Plato 203). The image of the philosopher king was thoroughly described in Plato s
Republic, but the perfect ruler or philosopher king has transformed throughout history and are
influenced by historical events. First, the description of a perfect ruler in an ideal society in Platos
Republic will be the first comparison and the basis of a philosopher king. Second, Marcus Aurelius,
who was described as the first philosopher king wrote Meditations and it expresses his own
thoughts and beliefs which can ultimately reflect his actions. Lastly, Notker s account of
Charlemagne can be used to examine a king who may not always be recognized as a philosopher
king, but Charlemagne is described as a great ruler who valued learning and philosophy. These
three examples are from different time periods and so their perception and lifestyles are different
in some aspects. Likewise, all three accounts are from different viewpoints because the Republic
is not examining one specific person, but an ideal individual. Marcus Aurelius wrote about
himself and his beliefs and values are examined to determine philosopher king characteristics.
Lastly, Notker s writing is a secondary source and Notker did not know Charlemagne personally.
Therefore, Notker s account is praising a king who he did not know, but Charlemagne is
remembered as an ideal ruler and Notker lists Charlemagne s accomplishments and

Iah Ra Research Paper
It was the first in between time of the day, when the moon was fading and the sun was rising.
Today was a day of celebration , as a gift form Iah Ra tribe was to be given to a long time
neighboring tribe today. This tradition started many years ago when they were enemies, for both
tribes lost many warriors to a battle of land and pride. As a peace offering, Iah Ra gave a child of
the moonas a bride to their strongest warrior as life companion, usually a bride.
For some reason, most of the members were born during the sun, but every once in a while a child
would be born when the moon was high. These children were usual striking different from the
rest of the tribe. Almost all were women, but 18 winters ago, a rarity happen. A male child was
born during a full moon, the day of an eclipse. The youngest of the Chief Ra s line was welcomed

Designing A New Identity For This Business
I was introduced to Rayo Santos a new car lot in Lewisville, TX. I was given the opportunity of
creating a new identity for this business. The owner of Rayo Santos, Juan Carlos Olvera, gave
me instructions on what were some of the boundaries of the design, like using the colors of the
Mexican flag and using the name itself as the logo. Rayo Santos meaning Holy Thunder in
Spanish. Through the process of researching for inspiration and sketching, I finally found the
perfect solution by using a Halo and a Thunderbolt for the logo. I believe that going for a simple
and modern design was the correct way to achieve this design. After being introduced to Elda
Chavez, owner of Sky Event Center, I knew I wanted to take the challenge and the adventure of
redesigning their brand look. Sky Event Center is a place where the enjoyment of different
celebrations takes place. The previous logo had a good color scheme but in my personal
opinion, it seemed like it was made for a car wash and it did not appear to be made for a
ballroom, and surely did not reflect the beauty and elegance of the interior. I developed a new
logo that took out the beauty and gave it the sophisticated look it needed by using a self made
typeface that fits the business more accordingly. The mark itself is an abstract representation of a
flower and a disco ball with a combination of a cool color scheme, to remind the people of the
blues and purples of the evening sky. Dos Primos, a taco restaurant full of culture

Alternative Responses
When I find myself in an argument that seems to have no solution, when I feel there are unspoken
motivations on the side of my conversational partner inflaming their irritation, I see that I have the
power to change course. If I have this recognition, I can return to a place of more calm and ask,
What is upsetting you right now? What do you feel is true or important that isn t getting across? To
resolve this I want to really understand how you feel.
Feelings are a point of contention right now. From millenials and their feelings about the
workplace to the vocalization and protest of social justice warriors to the presence of alternative
facts or truthiness what is felt or perceived to be true rather than what data supports.

This means involving feelings. How do people feel, really? What hurts or angers them? Why do
they feel this way? What memories do they have leading to these feelings? How might their feelings
influence their actions? That is the beginning of radical love and compassionate politics. These are
the things considered by a good parent or friend or lover. We put down our defenses and
irritation to consider why they act the way they do when they surprise or disappoint us, because
we love them and believe them worthy of this generosity. Sometimes we decide, Oh, it s not her
fault, her mother had severe OCD so when she s under stress she gets a little anxious about
clutter. It s not that big of a deal. Then sometimes we decide it s too severe and say instead, I
know she gets anxious about clutter because of her upbringing, but it s really getting out of control
and damaging our relationship. What would help her heal that anxiety? And then you begin the
conversation of compromise. Either way, that consideration, awareness, and generosity will go a
long way helping each of you find a peaceful

The Spiritual Journey In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
He bowed low, right down to the ground, in front of the man sitting there motionless, whose smile
reminded him of everything that he had ever loved in his life, of everything that had ever been of
value and holy in his life (Hesse 122). In 1922 Hermann Hesse published his popular novel,
Siddhartha. This book follows the spiritual journey of a man named Siddhartha. During his odyssey,
Siddhartha finds himself in the presence of many teachers that help him with his trek to Nirvana,
the state of tranquility. Although he prefers to not learn from teachers, Kamala educates him about
passion, Vasudeva guides him to enlightenment, and Govinda edifies Siddhartha throughout his
entire life. They all teach Siddhartha essential life lessons on his voyage to self discovery. Kamala,
a woman Siddhartha crosses paths within the city, educates him on the true meaning of passion.
During their relationship, Kamala sees something unique in Siddhartha, You are stronger than
others, more supple, more willing. You have learned my art well, Siddhartha. Someday, when I am
older, I will have a child by you (Hesse 59). As a courtesan, Kamala typically never feels this way
about others. Their infatuation grows for one another throughout the novel, even though both claim
they will never love. Numerous years pass in the city; they end up growing old together and
Siddhartha knows he needs to leave and return on his path to reach Nirvana. Covertly pregnant with

The Influence Of The D-Day Invasion
D Day is an important day in history for all countries involved in World War II, it marked the
turning point in the war for the Allies victory. Many modern movies and people focus on the
amphibious landings onto the beaches of Normandy. Although the paratroopers of D Day are not
as idolized, they played an important and influential role in the outcome of D Day. One area of
discrepancy between experts is how well paratroopers performed on D Day. Although paratroopers
had many obstacles and setbacks, they played a crucial role in the success of the D day invasion.
World War II was a war fought between the Axis powers (Germany, Japan, and Italy) and the Allied
powers (United States, Soviet Union, Britain, France, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and
China) between the years 1939 and 1945. During the war around sixty million civilians and
military personnel were killed. The war was fought mainly on two fronts: The Pacific Theater and
the European Theater. Germany surrendered on May 7 1945 and Japan only lasted four more
months (Willmont et al., 2004).
D Day was an Allied invasion, planned for Normandy, code named Operation Overlord, that took
place on June 6 1944. The invasion was a combination of an Amphibious landing forces as well as
an airborne force that parachuted behind enemy instillations and defenses to capture roads from the

The Static Model Of Data Mining Essay
Abstract: Lot of research done in mining software repository. In this paper we discussed about the
static model of data mining to extract defect .Different algorithms are used to find defects like
naГЇve bayes algorithm, Neural Network, Decision tree. But NaГЇve Bayes algorithm has the best
result .Data mining approach are used to predict defects in software .We used NASA dataset
namely, Data rive. Software metrics are also used to find defects.
Keywords: NaГЇve Bayes algorithm, Software Metric, Solution Architecture,.
I.INTRODUCTION
According to [1], multiple algorithms are combined to show better prediction capability using
votes. NaГЇve Bayes algorithm gives the best result if used individual than others. The contribution
of this paper based on two reasons. Firstly, it provides a solution architecture which is based on
software repository and secondly it provides benchmarks that provide an ensemble of data mining
models in the defective module prediction problem and compare the result. Author used NASA
dataset online [2] which contain five large software projects with thousands of modules. Bohem
found 80/20 rule and about the half modules are defect free [3]. Fixing Defects in the operational
phase is considerably more expensive than doing so in the development or testing phase. Cost
escalation factors ranges from 5:1 to 100:1 [3]. It tells defects can be fixed in operational phase
not in development and testing phase. The study of defect prediction can be classified into

What Role Does Portia Play In Julius Caesar
How are women portrayed in a play written in the 1600 s? In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, a
playwright by William Shakespeare reenacts the murder of Julius Caesar. The female roles are
superior in moving the plot forward. The only two female characters include Portia, wife of Marcus
Brutus, and Calphurnia, wife of the noble Julius Caesar. Portia and Calphurnia inform the viewers
understanding of their role in the play. The female characters inform the readers understanding

Huskies Research Paper
Do you like huskies? I love huskies very much, and I m trying really hard to prove to my mom
that I m going to do anything to get this husky.I want a husky because it will make me more
responsible and prove to my mom that I can take care of a husky or maybe another pet. A husky is
a good loyal dog. A husky can keep you safe!
One reason I want a husky is because I would be more responsible. I would give it a bath when it is
dirty. I would work to get money for food to feed the husky. Also, when its cage is nasty Ill clean it
and even wash his bed when it stinks. To give my dog exercise, I will take it for a walk. This is
what I will do to be responsible.
The second reason I want a husky is because it don t chew up clothes, shoes, and more.

Personification In The Charge Of The Light Brigade
Biographical Info Lord Alfred Tennyson was an influential poet during the Victorian Era or the
golden age. He was the fourth out of the twelve children and was born on August 6, 1809, in
England. He enrolled at Trinity College but left when his father died. After publishing many
famous poetry, Tennyson was honored as a poet laureate for his poem The Charge of the Light
Brigade . This was where he earned the name Lord which sounds noble. Sadly, he died at the age
of 83 on October of 1892( The Charge of the Light Brigade ). Summary/Symbolism The poem talks
about 600 horsemen with their swords riding half a league charging against the Russian artillery.

the audience s emotion by using ethos revealing that death is inevitable(Smelli Notes). Tennyson

Persuasive Essay On Border Security
CJ Pimentel
Mr. Cryer
English 105

Persuasive Essay Rough Draft A government has the responsibility of protecting its citizens from
foreign threats. The media has recently focused on border security between the US and Mexico
due to Trump s push for a wall. Trump supporters believe that building a wall on the border would
improve border security and completely stop illegal immigration; however, this project would only
serve to make citizens believe that they are safer without effectively improving border security.
Trump s wall is an act of security theatre, the act of making someone feel more secure without
actually implementing effective measures to increase safety. The problem with illegal
immigration is not the physical boundary between the US and Mexico; the problem is how
America deals with the illegal immigrants that are already in America. Supporters of Trump s
wall believe that building a physical boundary will stop all illegal immigration between the US
and Mexico; however, increasing security on the border will not completely stop illegal
immigration. It is estimated that between twenty seven to forty percent of illegal immigrants
come to the US by plane (Greenberg). Building a wall won t stop people from legally crossing
the border by plane and then deciding to stay in America. In fact, one can logically assume that
making illegal immigration harder by land will only result in growing numbers of illegal
immigration by air. Spending billions on

St. Francois Mountains
A search for scholarly reviewed material involving the St. Francois Mountains and Butler Hill
formations returned a four notable sources. Gary Lowell and Alex Blaxland produced one article
each while J. Ronald Sides produced two articles on the subject. However, the University of
Tennessee at Martin has a limited journal selection and the available material is that of J. Ronald
Sides articles.
Literature Review
Ronald describes the mountains as a shallow composite batholith located in southeastern Missouri
(1980). This batholith, or large igneous intrusion, is tilted to the southwest and beveled by erosion.
The complex is about one and a half billion years old and mostly comprised of silicic intrusive
units and rhyolitic pyroclastic rocks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francois batholith and probably helped control the structural development of the batholith itself.
The Butler Hill Pluton was originally thought to be two different units, however, Ronald points out
that the contact between the two is gradational so therefore he refers to it as one singular pluton
referring to it as the Butler Hill Granite. The granite is markedly more fine grained on the southwest
side of the pluton and exhibits quartz, orthoclase micropherthite, and minor albite, muscovite,
chlorite, hematite, and fluorite. Ronald notes that the overall texture is hypidiomorphic, partly
idiomorphic or containing some crystalline features, but locally porphyritic. To the northeast, the
pluton consists major of quartz, orthoclase, and plagioclase, with minor chlorite, biotite, hematite,
fluorite, and amphibole. The overall texture is hypidiomorphic granular with a larger grain size
than that of the opposing side. The north easternmost rocks have rapakivi texture, or plagioclase
rims around orthoclase in a plutonic rock. The size difference between the two sides is contributed
to that of the cooling rate associated with the volcanic activity and the entrapment caused by the
roof.
Ronald sampled along three lines of traverse to compile data for chemical data. Samples were
tested at University of Kansas by X ray fluorescence and by flame spectrophotometric methods.

Independent contractors win out best in sole proprietorships because they pay the basic needs,
and that s their investment, and they see the profits, while the company eats the loss. Bread
vendors are a good example of this. They make money on the bread they sell, but don t lose
money on the staled bread they return. This applies to independent contractors that serve as
drivers for those companies. These drivers supply their own trucks and insurance, they only do a
delivery service and make out the orders. The drivers are not responsible for the losses on bread
not sold. They are given a percentage on bread sold. They file their own personal taxes and are not
liable for any company assets or liabilities. In closing, decision making on which LLC to be
associated with is based on size and the amount of interest or investments in a company. Every
company is different and their classification will be based on the operations of the business and its
overall needs some require different financial investments, and the more of the financial
requirement, the more of the obligation for more partners and funding, but also shared liability

To understand the power of advertising market in Japan a deeper look in media structure is
needed. Just as in other countries, the four mayor media in Japan where ads are most displayed
include: radio, Television, newspapers and Magazines. The spread of democratic institutions,
university education, and urban lifestyle in the 20th century created an enormous market for such
media. in terms of ad expenditures, since 1975 money paid to television firms exceeded those paid
to newspapers, and television has been the top advertising medium ever since. The television
market in 2002 maintains this trend and, although spending was down over the last few years, that
has happened across the board for all media. in Japan, where newspaper readership is widespread,
the average number of newspaper subscriptions per household is 1,06, and newspaper advertising
accounts for about 18% of total advertising expenditures. The main characteristic of Japanese
newspapers is their broad readership. newspapers have a very high penetration rate because of the
home delivery system. They are read in most homes and are aimed at the market segments that
compose households. There are five nationwide dailies, all of which have correspondingly high
circulation: Asahi Shimbun, Yomiuri Shimbun, Mainici Shimbin, nihon Keizai Shimbun, Sankei

African American Women And The Collective Psyche Of...
African American women have been purposefully written out of visual history with the
exception of scripted roles that have been predetermined by stereotypical scripts that are
imbedded in the collective psyche of American audiences beginning in the 1890s. Dorothy
Dandridge was a sensational performer that commanded attention and left her audiences
awestruck on screen and in life. At the age of eleven, I recall sitting in front of the television for
a special televised movie, called Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. The film opens with a somber
score and voiceover of Dorothy (Halle Berry) asking the audience, Have you ever caught sight of
yourself by accident... And, you see yourself from the outside... That s who you really are... That
question captured my wondering eleven year old mind and immediately pulled me into the
world of a woman who was familiar to me. She was familiar in her storytelling and questioning
even before an image broke the continuity of credits on flashing on the screen. My mother has
always loved mirrors. In one room there would be at least two mirrors suspended on the walls. I
have caught many glimpses of myself over the years, so I knew exactly what she meant in asking
the question. It s a question that continues to be answered by Hollywood of black women, but
without their input or consent. The question is why? On November 9, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio a
star was born, Ms. Dorothy Dandridge. Ms. Dandridge s manager and close friend, Earl Mills

Breast cancer is the leading cause of death due to cancer in women, with statistics from the USA

women diagnosed in the early stages survive the disease, while this figure is only 15% if
diagnosed at a later stage illustrating the importance of an effective screening programme to reduce

With the majority of tumours being slow growing it has been established from various studies that
biennial screening is the most effective time frame. This is due to the identification of slow
growing tumours at an early enough stage for recovery and at the same time ensures a reduced rate
of false positives compared to annual mammograms.5 In addition, since the proportion of DCIS is
highest in younger women, screen detection of DCIS that may not be clinically significant could
be considered a further harm. 5 Therefore it is the woman s prerogative whether the risk of cancer
outweighs the possibility of coming into contact with the aforementioned harms.
With the implementation of mammograms as a population based screening program the targeted
population must be scrutinised, because although it is common practice for women over 40 to be
covered by health insurance for mammograms there are increasing numbers of women below that
age with breast cancer.

The Slave Ship by Marcus Rediker is a great fiction novel that describes the horrifying
experiences of Africans, seamen, and captains on their journey through the Middle Passage. The
Middle Passage marked the water way in the Atlantic Ocean between Africa and the Americas.
The use of slaves provided a great economy for the European countries due to the fact that these
African slaves provided free labor while cultivating sugar cane in the Caribbean and America.
Rediker describes the slave migration by saying, There exists no account of the mechanism for

Some Africans did not go without putting up a fight. For instance, Captain Tomba led many
villagers in burning huts and killing neighbors who cooperated with slave traders (14). He was
later captured and sent to the slave ship where he would be sold in the New World. The slaves also
resisted by refusing to eat. Most of them decided they would rather have death than to live the
lifestyle on the slave ships. The captains punished those who refused to eat by giving them
lashes to the bare skin until they decided to eat. Olaudah Equiano could be considered one of the
more fortunate Africans involved in the slave trade. Rediker uses Equiano to show how
Africans were kidnapped and brought to the slave ship. Equiano was home alone with his sister
when he was snatched by a neighboring enemy tribe. Tribes were kidnapping each other to sell
to the slave traders for goods and even weapons. Equiano was separated from his sister and sold
off to merchants before actually boarding the slave ship. He mentioned several times how he
would rather die than be on the slave ship. He noticed right away that the slave ship was
equipped with nettings to prevent precisely such desperate rebellion (109). Equiano went to the
Americas and was left alone when none of the merchants purchased him. He was sold to a captain
and boarded his ship back to England. On this slave ship, he was treated much better. He got to

Mobile Banking And Its Impact On The Economy,...
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The way we live today is so much influenced by computing technologies. Computers control the
economy, transportation, banking and many other functions. Internet and mobile technologies are
increasingly being adopted and utilized in the banking industry; this has reshaped the consumption
of financial services. Electronic banking is considered a way of delivering banking services
through the internet to the consumer at a reduced cost to the banking industry and improved
convenience to the customer . However there exists a low internet connectivity in the developing
countries given the costs of connection especially in rural areas and yet banking services need to
be brought closer to the population to enhance development . A viable solution here is mobile
banking. Mobile banking is considered as a service that enables users to receive information
regarding the status of their accounts, transfer among bank accounts, to facilitate stock trading and
direct payment confirmation using mobile devices.
So with this in mind, in CFCU we are planning to implement mobile banking technology. The main
objective is to develop mobile application for Android and IOS for the customers to have real time
access to their bank accounts. Customers can access their accounts, Transfer money, Deposit
checks, pay their bills using our feature that allows them to set up monthly recurring payments.
Furthermore, for better visualization, we also plan to present customers with dashboards

A variety of programs attempt to achieve the crime control goals established by general strain
theory, but none are explicitly drawn from general strain theory. Restorative justice programs are
an example of this. These restorative programs aim to impose less severe sanctions on offenders to
reduce the risk of offenders viewing their punishment as unjust. This is accomplished by making
offenders aware of the harm they caused and allow offenders to have a say in the sanction they are
subjected to. The offenders also have a voice in mediating with the community and victim of their
crime, which in turn helps teach them to cope with strains through legitimate, non criminal means
(Agnew, 2006). These strategies would be beneficial in allowing students to realize the emotional...

The main reason students resort to weapons carrying, criminal coping, according to general strain
theory is their lack of legitimate coping mechanisms. Schools should be required to teach and offer
students non criminal ways of coping with strains in their life. Teacher mediation would be one
effective strategy to help eliminate strains or effectively deal with strains. When students are
suffering from bullying rather than turning to weapons carrying as a coping mechanism, students
should be taught to inform their teachers of the strain and deal with it through mediation. Mediation
is a way for negative emotions to be expressed and potentially eliminate the negative stimuli of
bullying from a student s daily life. Drawing from restorative justice, which is influenced by
general strain as theory, this tactic for combating weapons carrying could be shown to be very
effective. If utilized to its full potential general strain theory can be combined with other
criminological theories to produce effective policy to oppose weapons carrying in

Comparing Client Server Architectural Style
Compare Client Server architectural style to 3 Tier architectural style. What are the similarities and
differences ? Use bullet points or a short paragraph.
Client Server architectural style to 3 Tier architectural style:
The client server model refers to the Network Architecture where one or more computers are
connected a server.Client server architecture divides the system into two applications, In this model
client sends request to the server. Server implementation is transparent but can be centralized or

The BL is running on a separate server, called the business logictier, middle tier, or service tier.
Finally the DB is running on its own database server. Differences: Client Server: cost (servers and
software can be expensive) server operating systems (a server and software work together; server
software is expensive; servers also add to the costs) implementation (sharing resources; network
cabling; servers kept in a secure room; central file management, central security administration; user
management and permissions, backup management) security and safety techniques to protect the
network from virus attacks, new products, and the use of new technologies (i.e., wireless
connections).
Client server networks work best for larger setups, such as a full scale office or school network
especially if the networks are likely to grow in size.
3 Tier Architecture: A 3 Tier usually puts something between the presentation and data store tire
such as a business logic tier.
3 Tier has a Middle part of stage to communicate with client to server, Where as in 2 Tier client
directly get communication to server. you can put this into 3 tiers depending on how much amount
of money you have for hardware and how amount load you expect.
3 Tier is straight means in that demand stream on Client Middle Layer Database server and

Still Life With Tornado Character Analysis
In the novel, Still Life With Tornado, by A.S. King, Sarah, a teenager who strives to be original,
manifests change throughout the story while portraying the theme, originality is inborn. Sarah
is a teenage girl who thinks she is unoriginal. She grows up with parents who hate each other and
only stay together for her and her brother s sake. As their marriage gradually falls apart, Sarah
has to go through the process with them and try to keep herself together. Sarah, the protagonist,
changes throughout the story, as demonstrated by bewilderment, tediousness, and acceptance. In
the beginning of the narrative, Sarah demonstrates characteristics of bewilderment. Sarah, a 16
year old high school dropout, is rethinking her life as she says, Maybe my whole life I ve been
living inside of an imaginary painting (King 54). Sarah is confused and feels that her childhood
was a lie. The readers realize along with her that her parents put on an act to protect her from the
fact that they do not get along. This communicates the sense of feeling trapped within lies
thought to be true and addresses the message to society that the root of the problem is always
bigger than what is expected. Similarly, Sarah asserts her latest assessment regarding herself
and her mental state saying, I am not going crazy. I do not need a psychologist. I decide I am an
artist inside of a tornado that will not let me go (King 128). Sarah decides she is in a mental
state where she cannot portray her feelings. She uses this excuse of being stuck in a tornado to
reject the fact that ultimately she will need to get her life back on track and accept who she is.
This is another one of Sarah s shenanigans to try to be original, and by doing this, she finds a
reason to avert from being a normal person. People today encounter the same situation in
everyday life by using excuses to get around inevitable things. Sarah s manifestation of change
continues in the middle of the story as well. As Sarah progresses, she shows traits of tediousness.
While reflecting on her feelings about herself, she says, I am an umbrella on a day with no rain
(King 9). An umbrella on a day with no rain has no use, therefore the author is trying to show how
Sarah thinks

Annotated Bibliography On The Caged Bird
I had done my poem bibliography over Caged Bird. The Caged Bird poem is about fighting for
your rights. For example the caged bird keeps on fighting for his rights as a bird because he is
caged unlike other birds that are free. Maya Angelou was an American author also a civil rights
activist. When Maya Angeloudiscusses the cage around the bird, that s racism. When compared to
the free bird it refers to the caged birds not having the same rights. The theme of The Caged Bird
is racebecause it compares a free bird in other words white person to the caged bird or in other
words African American that is behind the bars.
The tone in this poem is sad because the author wants you to feel for the caged bird. The caged

Looking For Advice Research Paper
One of the biggest mistakes people make when looking for advice is seeking it from only one
person. Getting multiple opinions on a certain decision or situation could be the difference
between a complete disaster taking place or a relieving solution. Some advice that others give
happens to be useless and irrational, but if someone seeks more than one opinion, he or she could
avoid bad advice by following the good instead. More opinions equals more options. Seeking
multiple opinions is beneficial for you, and others too, because everyone has a different mindset, it
can prevent bad decisions, and even helps a person make better choices in the future. To begin with,
every human in the world has a different mindset. Some think deeply, some think simply. We are
all different from the way we dress to the way we draw stick people. With different mindsets
comes different perspectives, or ways to look at a situation. Some people may think something is
wrong while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If someone was to ask only one person for advice, he or she may receive bad guidance. Good advice
isn t always guaranteed. If someone was to follow bad guidance, they are at risk for making a

with the bad advice, he or she could find a better solution to the the problem at hand. No matter
the situation, anyone can find understanding people to listen and share opinions with. Listening
to these opinions can have a great influence on the effect of the problem. For example, if Sam
had to decide between buying a brand new car and a used one, he could ask his friends what
their opinions are. Some people may say to buy the new car because it will last him longer. Others
could advise him to purchase the used one to help him financially. Everyone has different opinions

Kim V. Searle
Much like the course any sporting event is bounded by the rules of the game, the course of any
philosophical discussion is bounded by the ideas accepted as axioms. A game of soccer in which
the players were permitted to hold the ball in their hands would be radically different, even
incomparable to a traditional game, even if all other factors (weather, location, player s skill) were
physically identical. In much the same way, although both begin with the same set of facts
(materially closed universe, constant physical laws) Jaegwon Kims view on mental causation is
radically different from Searle s, because they approach the issue from different philosophical
perspectives. Neither is wrong, if you reason using their principles. Neither is... Show more content

Their dissension stems not from one being fundamentally right or wrong, but from different
assumptions. Kim accuses Searle of Causal Over Determination. He sees Searle as claiming that
not only does m(F) cause m(G), but also that F causes G in an equally real way. Since m(G) is the
true cause of G, the F to G causation must be illusory. Searle could likewise accuse Kim of Causal
Over Distinction, arguing that m(F) is indistinguishable from F, and in that both together as one
cause [m(G)+G].
In addition, Searle would say that Kim is making a fundamental mistake in thinking of mental states
as being caused by physical states (related temporally), rather than existing simultaneously. This
limits Kim s thinking, as two events related causally in this way cannot by definition be the same
event. Searle suggests that we include a sort of permanent causation, by which molecular structures
doesn t cause hardness, but rather is hardness.
There is, as Searle rightly points out however, a ragged hole in Kim s conclusion. Kim asserts, as if
to appease us, that mental states are both epiphenomenal and causal. By describing mental states as
superveniently causal, i.e. appearing to be causal based on the true causality of their
microproperties, he has satisfied Hume s requirements for causation, i.e. that causation itself is

Essay on Johannes Kepler
Johannes Kepler was a German astronomer and mathematician who lived between 1671 1630.
Kepler was a Copernican and initially believed that planets should follow perfectly circular orbits
( Johan Kepler 1). During this time period, Ptolemy s geocentric theory of the solar system was
accepted. Ptolemy s theory stated that Earth is at the center of the universe and stationary; closest
to Earth is the Moon, and beyond it, expanding towards the outside, are Mercury, Venus, and the
Sun in a straight line, followed by Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and the fixed stars . The Ptolemaic system
explained the numerous observed motions of the planets as having small spherical orbits called
epicycles ( Astronomy 2). Kepler is best known for introducing three... Show more content on

His first law states, The orbits of the planets are ellipses, with the Sun at one focus of the ellipse.
As shown in Figure 1, The Sun is not at the focus of the ellipse, but is instead at one focus [usually
there is nothing at the other focus of the ellipse]. The planet then trails the ellipse in its orbit, which
implies that the Earth Sun distance is continually changing as the planet goes around its orbit.
Kepler s second law states, The line joining the planet to the Sun sweeps out equal areas in equal
times as the planet travels around the ellipse. As shown in Figure 2, an imaginary line from the
center of the sun to the center of a planet sweeps out the same area in a given time. This means
that planets move faster when they are closer to the sun. Kepler s third and final law states, The
time taken by a planet to make one complete trip around the sun is its period. The ratio of the
squares of periodic times for two planets is equal to the ratio of the cubes of their mean distances
from the sun. Kepler s third law indicates that the time taken by a planet to orbit the Sun increases
quickly with the radius of its orbit ( Johannes Kepler: The 1 4). Kepler s laws challenged
Aristotelean and Ptolemaic astronomy. His statement that the Earth

The Adoption Of Electronic Health Records
According to a survey from SK A, after an initial migration to health IT solutions, practice
owners adoption of electronic health records (EHR) has plateaued with only about a 2.8%
increase from January 2014 to January 2015. The survey found that overall adoption by
physicians is 62.8%, and that, in general, the larger the practice, the (not surprisingly) higher the
adoption rates, with 77.2% of docs at medical groups of 25 or more members using EHRs this is
compared to only 54.5% of solo practitioners adopting the technology. Why the Drop in Adoption
Rates? Other survey findings clearly illustrate the fact that while EHRs do come with benefits,
most are not embraced by physicians because of their lack of functionality and difficulty of use.
According to this survey , overall provider satisfaction with EHRs has declined by almost 30%
over the past five years. Conducted by the American Medical Association and American EHR
Partners, the survey questioned 940 practice owners about their level of satisfaction with their
EHR. What was interesting right off the bat about these findings was that only 34% of
physicians said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their EHR systems compared to 61% of
respondents who were satisfied only five years ago. The survey also found: 42% of physicians
described their EHR s ability to improve efficiency as difficult or very difficult. 43% said they
were consistently challenged with their EHR s ability to address productivity.

Stereotypes In Miyazaki s Princess Mononoke
Studio Ghibli is probably one of my most preferred animation studios out there. Their best movies
typically contain powerful female lead characters, which is awesome since you don t really see that
in animation. It s difficult to find female characters who take the situation in their own hands
without waiting for a prince charming to come save the day. Miyazaki, the lead animator is a genius
for coming up with many creative storylines and significant illustrations.
Princess Mononoke (1997)
Princess Mononoke is a dark and adventurous story about man s infinite battle with nature. This
movie is a tale of a Prince (Ashitaka) who travels far away from home in order to find a solution
to a curse that was cast upon him. If left untreated he will die. Ashitaka is pulled between a war
throughout his journey with an industrial village of Iron Town and the animals in the forest led by

She is fierce and an awesome lead to little girls out there. You usually find female characters in
animation portrayed as a damsel in distress. Especially in the mainstream box offices like what

usually have, instead of waiting around for her home (which was the forest) to be destroyed she
helps the main character Ashitaka rid of the people harming the forest and help the animals living
there. She definitely deserves the number one spot on this list in my opinion.

An Interpretation of Beethoven s Music in the Film A Clockwork Orange A Clockwork Orange is
the story of a young and disturbed man who, in order to avoid his prison sentence, subjects himself
to a controversial new treatment to correct his unlawful behavior. Stanley Kubrick, the film s
creator, uses Beethoven s music to penetrate the complexity of the main character s actions and
emotions. Beethoven s music acts as his salvation, providing him with pleasure and relief from the
violent lifestyle he created, but in the end it becomes the force that tears him apart. The main

The treatment conditioned Alex to become physically sick when hearing Beethoven s music since it
was present during the entire procedure. As the music continues to torture him, the symphony
brings Alex to his lowest point nearing death as he jumps out of the window in an attempt to
escape the music and his agony. As a criminal, Beethoven s music provided him with sensation
and fascination, but as A Clockwork Orange, it is now his breaking force. A Clockwork orange
refers to a mechanical piece of fruit. Alex is now unable to make his own decisions, he appears
normal on the outside, but is really mechanical and machine like inside. During the Ludovic
treatment, Alex watches extremely violent films. During the first few days he has no problems
watching the films, even somewhat enjoying them. As the days continue he realizes that the
accompanying music is Beethoven s ninth symphony, fourth movement. He tells the doctors that
it is a crime to use Beethoven s music for such hatred, but he is told it s for his own good. The
combination of the violence and the music deeply tortures and changes Alex. The doctors are
directly ignoring the intent and greatness of the music. The symphony is a celebration of life yet
the doctors have paired the music with videos of some of the most terrible events in history, with
the peak of the piece accompanied by footage of Nazi s. The music further elevates the tragedy and

Psychological Perspectives And Related Research Studies
An outline and evaluation of three psychological perspectives and related research studies
Introduction
The behaviourist approach transformed psychology in 1913 when John Watson put forward the
theory that psychology should be about the study of observable behaviour ignoring all mental
processes such as thoughts and emotions (Malim 1998). He viewed introspection as not being a
reliable and objective method for psychological study and believed the aim of psychology should be
to understand and control behaviour (ibid). He proposed that psychology should be seen as a
science using controlled variables within experimentation (McLeod 2007a). This scientific
approach made for a dependable method of assessing behaviour, however, critics of this approach
argued that this method created artificial situations holding little ecological validity (ibid).
Behaviourists also believe we are all born a blank slate and that all behaviour is determined from
learning from a person s own environmental experiences either through classical conditioning,
associating an external stimulus and a behavioural response, or through operant conditioning,
association via consequences where behaviour is shaped through reward or punishment (Malim
1998). However this belief doesn t take into account a person s spontaneity, creativity or their
ability to solve problems without the time consuming trial and error process that behaviourists
believe is necessary (ibid). Furthermore it fails to take into

The Constitution Is Revered For Both Its Age And Its Brevity
The U.S Constitution is revered for both its age and its brevity. The Constitution is a short and
concise document has been able to stand the test of time and it has remained the ultimate guide of
principles for law creation and enforcement. With that being said, the words of the Constitution are
unclear in many respects. Politicians have debates over the Constitutiondue to the reason that it is
difficult to figure out what the Framers meant when they originally wrote the Constitution.
According to the Constitution, the Supreme Court has the authority to decide if a law passed by
Congress is Constitutional. However, the vagueness of the Constitution allows for the Supreme
Court to interpret the Constitution differently since they have to figure out how to apply it to the
twenty first century.
The vagueness of constitution, while enabling the country to progress, has also been the source of
conflict among the individuals in government office. In terms of the Supreme Court, there is a
fundamental philosophical debate on how the vagueness of the constitution should be interpreted.
Both sides adhere strictly to the written words of the Constitution there is no debate about that. But
much of the constitutional rhetoric is open for interpretation, creating two schools of thought. The
first thought, originalism argues that the Supreme Court should interpret the constitution solely to
reflect the original views of the framers. Not only should the exact text be considered, but

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Observation Methods
The observation method is the most commonly used method especially in studies relating to
behavioral sciences. Under the observation method, the information is sought by way of
investigator s own direct observation without asking from the respondent. The main advantage of
this method is that subjective bias is eliminated, if observationis done accurately. Secondly, the
information obtained under this method relates to what is currently happening; it is not
complicated by either the past behavior or future intentions or attitudes. Thirdly, this method is
independent of respondents willingness to respond and as such is relatively less demanding of
active cooperation on the part of respondents as happens to be the case in the interview or the...

The results are then to be interpreted for drawing the inference from the experiment. Another
important thing in the observation is that this is a critical role player in any experiment or research.
The surveys in the research need to be observed minutely and they are to be interpreted by statistical
or theoretical means.
Observation thus is a vital role player in any research as these parts make or procure the data
available from different surveys like questionnaires or interviews to make the data converted to
information. This information is the player for justifying a hypothesis or making the research
informative and result oriented. Not only that, the observation also is concerned about the
historical part of the research or research field or topic. The topic or field on which the research
is based is to be justified by the previous researcher s view and view point and that is best done by
the observation part. Thus observation starts from the collection of data and interpreting them on
the basis of the historical research on the topic and also on the analysis of the participants and the
participant s research elements on the topic at earlier

Drinking College Campuses
Every year, approximately 6,000 to 22,000 students die on college and University campuses (qtd. in
CintroГЊn X), and thousands of these deaths can be attributed to alcohol over consumption (A
Sober Assessment of High Risk Drinking on College Campuses). If there are not appropriate steps
taken to address the situation, minors will continue to lose their lives as a result. As individuals
enter college, it is likely that they will be exposed to alcohol, whether they meet the legal drinking
age or do not. Many of these college students, specifically freshmen, are experiencing freedom for
the first time in their lives and it can be relatively easy for them to get carried away, resulting in
irresponsible decision making which often involves alcoholic... Show more content on

They returned to the house and left Carson on a mattress, he never woke up. Carson died
unresponsive, unmonitored, and abandoned on a mattress. He died from acute alcohol poisoning;
his blood alcohol level was .40. (Carson s Story)
Carson was not the first person to lose his life as a result of a stupid mistake and the inaction of
others. Rather than being able to learn from his poorly made decision, Carson s life came to an
abrupt end.
At the end of the day, if an individual over consumes alcohol, that shouldn t be the last decision they
make. A person s life, dreams and future shouldn t depend another s hesitation to call for medical
attention due to fear of legal repercussions. By implementing medical amnesty legislation in all
communities hosting college campuses, an increase in individuals seeking help, will contribute to
the decreasing of college students dying due to alcohol over consumption and substance

The Recession of 1973-1975
The recession of 1973 through 1975, was due to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting
Countries (OPEC) who rose gas prices and imposed an embargo against the United States. This
quickly caused oil production to be cut dramatically, leaving no choice but to increase the price in
oil. This recession, I am going to pin point the causes, fiscal and monetary policythe government
uses to help the economy slowly come out from the recession. Also I am going to pin point the
recession s recovery and expansion. The causes of this recession was due to the unemployment
being too high and how it had rose even higher through the years. The unemployment rate was at
4.9% by the fourth quarter and rose significantly at 8.3% by the fourth quarter of... Show more

During these years, Ford was the current President who cut taxes, hoping to increase
consumption goods. In 1974, the federal budget was close to being balanced with a deficit of
less than 1% of GDP. In the fiscal year, the GDP rose to 3.4% and 4.3% the following year. This
temporary deficit of the tax cut in 1975, helped raise the federal deficit, increasing the aggregate
demand. They did not worry seeing the unemployment rate increasing rapidly in the 1974
because the enactment of new legislation ensured that a higher percentage of the unemployed
end up receiving compensation in 1975. The first steps in taking action to the 1974 1975
recession was changes in taxes and spending. These changes heavily weighted toward a higher
disposable income and consumption of moderate and low income persons. (The Economic
Policy Institute) The results weren t so great, the consumption percentage of GDP rose in 1974
to 1975 and the investment percentage of GDP was lower in 1975 than in the 1974. Giving that
the Ford tax increase of 1974 was not the best policy at that time. Really, the opposite contra
cyclical policy was needed because it increases aggregate demand in recessions and decreases
aggregate demand in overheated expansions. They also used monetary policy to support President
Ford s stimulus package strategy, efforts to stimulate the economy. Nominal interest rates fell at a
good rate in 1974, causing the recovery to be well under way by when it began to rise again in

Discuss the extent to which recent reforms to murder in...
Discuss the extent to which recent reforms to murder in the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 are a
change for the better but have not necessarily satisfied those who campaigned for change. [50]
Loss of control is a partial defence to a charge of murder. If it is successful, D will be found guilty
of manslaughter. This allows the judge discretion in sentencing. Loss of control replaced the
former defence of provocation. This law is set out in s54 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.
The old defence of provocation was abolished by s56 CJA 2009. Under the new law, if D wants the
defence to be successful, they need to have lost self control, there must be a qualifying trigger and
a person of the same sex and age should react in the same way ... Show more content on

The second situation arises where D s long term alcohol/drug abuse has led to a recognised medical
condition (such as alcohol or drug dependence syndrome) which causes an abnormality of mental
functioning. (R v Wood). Giving the judgement of the court, Sir Igor Judge explained that the jury
must first consider whether the defendant s syndrome was of such an extent and nature that it
constituted an abnormality of mind induced by illness or disease. If they decided it was, they must
then consider whether the defendant s mental responsibility at the time was substantially impaired
by the syndrome.
The Law Commission had proposed removing the loss of control criteria completely. This was
because it was recognised that women in abusive relationships may kill from a combination of
anger fear, frustration and a sense of desperation. The government decided not to follow this
proposal. D must prove loss of self control. The only concession is that loss of control need not be
sudden. It is probable that some abused women will not be able to use the defence.
Sexual infidelity is no longer allowed as a qualifying trigger for the defence. Yet the defence of
provocation was largely created for such situations and also widely biased towards men. If
someone finds their partner cheating, they are very likely to lose self control, but if this leads to D
killing V, they will no longer have a partial defence to a charge of murder. Surely that contradicts
the aim

The Supernatural And Natural Aspects Of Women In The Old Ages
In olden times, women were mostly seen as possessions or things to be won by men. There
simply wasn t anything better than a beautiful woman, a heap of gold, and the power to control
people. If you wanted a family, you had to have a wife to cook, clean, birth and rear your
offspring. Despite the previous aspects of the old way of life being represented in these myths, they
also demonstrate how sometimes carrying out the plan for a perfect family leaves you utterly alone.
In these stories, women tied to the supernatural and natural elements are shown to be an almost
forbidden fruit for men. Repeatedly, they try to win the maidens through trickery and stealth but the
womaneventually escapes their grasp. This ties in with the purposes behind these myths. Which are
to inform others on a specific way of life, explain rare beauty through supernatural phenomena, to
educate on past formalities and to pass on knowledge to new generations by utilizing storytelling.
The first myth, The Water Maid, is a German tale about a knight who gets lost in Harz Forest and
stumbles upon what he believes to be an inhabited castle. As the story progresses, he discovers that
a lone woman lives there. It was probably strange for him to discover this during this time, due to
women not usually living in the middle of a forest with a house that she alone possessed. The pair
became fast friends and eventually even husband and wife, but on one condition: that she d
disappear every Friday and he

The image of the philosopher king was thoroughly described in Plato s Republic, but the perfect ruler or philosopher king has transformed throughout history and are influenced by historical events. First, the description of a perfect ruler in an ideal society in Platos Republic will be the first comparison and the basis of a philosopher king. Second, Marcus Aurelius, who was described as the first philosopher king wrote Meditations and it expresses his own thoughts and beliefs which can ultimately reflect his actions. Lastly, Notker s account of Charlemagne can be used to examine a king who may not always be recognized as a philosopher king, but Charlemagne is described as a great ruler who valued learning and philosophy. These three examples are from different time periods and so their perception and lifestyles are different in some aspects. Likewise, all three accounts are from different viewpoints because the Republic is not examining one specific person, but an ideal individual. Marcus Aurelius wrote about himself and his beliefs and values are examined to determine philosopher king characteristics. Lastly, Notker s writing is a secondary source and Notker did not know Charlemagne personally. Therefore, Notker s account is praising a king who he did not know, but Charlemagne is remembered as an ideal ruler and Notker lists Charlemagne s accomplishments and ... • 4. Designing A New Identity For This Business I was introduced to Rayo Santos a new car lot in Lewisville, TX. I was given the opportunity of creating a new identity for this business. The owner of Rayo Santos, Juan Carlos Olvera, gave me instructions on what were some of the boundaries of the design, like using the colors of the Mexican flag and using the name itself as the logo. Rayo Santos meaning Holy Thunder in Spanish. Through the process of researching for inspiration and sketching, I finally found the perfect solution by using a Halo and a Thunderbolt for the logo. I believe that going for a simple and modern design was the correct way to achieve this design. After being introduced to Elda Chavez, owner of Sky Event Center, I knew I wanted to take the challenge and the adventure of redesigning their brand look. Sky Event Center is a place where the enjoyment of different celebrations takes place. The previous logo had a good color scheme but in my personal opinion, it seemed like it was made for a car wash and it did not appear to be made for a ballroom, and surely did not reflect the beauty and elegance of the interior. I developed a new logo that took out the beauty and gave it the sophisticated look it needed by using a self made typeface that fits the business more accordingly. The mark itself is an abstract representation of a flower and a disco ball with a combination of a cool color scheme, to remind the people of the blues and purples of the evening sky. To resolve this I want to really understand how you feel. Feelings are a point of contention right now. We put down our defenses and irritation to consider why they act the way they do when they surprise or disappoint us, because we love them and believe them worthy of this generosity. Sometimes we decide, Oh, it s not her fault, her mother had severe OCD so when she s under stress she gets a little anxious about clutter. It s not that big of a deal. Then sometimes we decide it s too severe and say instead, I know she gets anxious about clutter because of her upbringing, but it s really getting out of control and damaging our relationship. The Spiritual Journey In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha He bowed low, right down to the ground, in front of the man sitting there motionless, whose smile reminded him of everything that he had ever loved in his life, of everything that had ever been of value and holy in his life (Hesse 122). In 1922 Hermann Hesse published his popular novel, Siddhartha. This book follows the spiritual journey of a man named Siddhartha. During his odyssey, Siddhartha finds himself in the presence of many teachers that help him with his trek to Nirvana, the state of tranquility. Although he prefers to not learn from teachers, Kamala educates him about passion, Vasudeva guides him to enlightenment, and Govinda edifies Siddhartha throughout his entire life. They all teach Siddhartha essential life lessons on his voyage to self discovery. Kamala, a woman Siddhartha crosses paths within the city, educates him on the true meaning of passion. During their relationship, Kamala sees something unique in Siddhartha, You are stronger than others, more supple, more willing. You have learned my art well, Siddhartha. Many modern movies and people focus on the amphibious landings onto the beaches of Normandy. Although the paratroopers of D Day are not as idolized, they played an important and influential role in the outcome of D Day. One area of discrepancy between experts is how well paratroopers performed on D Day. Although paratroopers had many obstacles and setbacks, they played a crucial role in the success of the D day invasion. World War II was a war fought between the Axis powers (Germany, Japan, and Italy) and the Allied powers (United States, Soviet Union, Britain, France, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and China) between the years 1939 and 1945. • 12. Persuasive Essay On Border Security CJ Pimentel Mr. Cryer English 105 23 October 2017 Persuasive Essay Rough Draft A government has the responsibility of protecting its citizens from foreign threats. The media has recently focused on border security between the US and Mexico due to Trump s push for a wall. Trump supporters believe that building a wall on the border would improve border security and completely stop illegal immigration; however, this project would only serve to make citizens believe that they are safer without effectively improving border security. Trump s wall is an act of security theatre, the act of making someone feel more secure without actually implementing effective measures to increase safety. The problem with illegal immigration is not the physical boundary between the US and Mexico; the problem is how America deals with the illegal immigrants that are already in America. Supporters of Trump s wall believe that building a physical boundary will stop all illegal immigration between the US and Mexico; however, increasing security on the border will not completely stop illegal immigration. It is estimated that between twenty seven to forty percent of illegal immigrants come to the US by plane (Greenberg). Building a wall won t stop people from legally crossing the border by plane and then deciding to stay in America. In fact, one can logically assume that making illegal immigration harder by land will only result in growing numbers of illegal immigration by air. Spending billions on ... The Butler Hill Pluton was originally thought to be two different units, however, Ronald points out that the contact between the two is gradational so therefore he refers to it as one singular pluton referring to it as the Butler Hill Granite. The granite is markedly more fine grained on the southwest side of the pluton and exhibits quartz, orthoclase micropherthite, and minor albite, muscovite, chlorite, hematite, and fluorite. Ronald notes that the overall texture is hypidiomorphic, partly idiomorphic or containing some crystalline features, but locally porphyritic. To the northeast, the pluton consists major of quartz, orthoclase, and plagioclase, with minor chlorite, biotite, hematite, fluorite, and amphibole. The overall texture is hypidiomorphic granular with a larger grain size than that of the opposing side. The north easternmost rocks have rapakivi texture, or plagioclase rims around orthoclase in a plutonic rock. The size difference between the two sides is contributed to that of the cooling rate associated with the volcanic activity and the entrapment caused by the roof. This applies to independent contractors that serve as drivers for those companies. These drivers supply their own trucks and insurance, they only do a delivery service and make out the orders. The drivers are not responsible for the losses on bread not sold. They are given a percentage on bread sold. At the age of eleven, I recall sitting in front of the television for a special televised movie, called Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. Restorative justice programs are an example of this. These restorative programs aim to impose less severe sanctions on offenders to reduce the risk of offenders viewing their punishment as unjust. This is accomplished by making offenders aware of the harm they caused and allow offenders to have a say in the sanction they are subjected to. Drawing from restorative justice, which is influenced by general strain as theory, this tactic for combating weapons carrying could be shown to be very effective. If utilized to its full potential general strain theory can be combined with other criminological theories to produce effective policy to oppose weapons carrying in ... • 24. Still Life With Tornado Character Analysis In the novel, Still Life With Tornado, by A.S. King, Sarah, a teenager who strives to be original, manifests change throughout the story while portraying the theme, originality is inborn. Sarah is a teenage girl who thinks she is unoriginal. She grows up with parents who hate each other and only stay together for her and her brother s sake. As their marriage gradually falls apart, Sarah has to go through the process with them and try to keep herself together. Sarah, the protagonist, changes throughout the story, as demonstrated by bewilderment, tediousness, and acceptance. In the beginning of the narrative, Sarah demonstrates characteristics of bewilderment. Sarah, a 16 year old high school dropout, is rethinking her life as she says, Maybe my whole life I ve been living inside of an imaginary painting (King 54). Sarah is confused and feels that her childhood was a lie. The readers realize along with her that her parents put on an act to protect her from the fact that they do not get along. This communicates the sense of feeling trapped within lies thought to be true and addresses the message to society that the root of the problem is always bigger than what is expected. Similarly, Sarah asserts her latest assessment regarding herself and her mental state saying, I am not going crazy. I do not need a psychologist. I decide I am an artist inside of a tornado that will not let me go (King 128). Sarah decides she is in a mental state where she cannot portray her feelings. She uses this excuse of being stuck in a tornado to reject the fact that ultimately she will need to get her life back on track and accept who she is. This is another one of Sarah s shenanigans to try to be original, and by doing this, she finds a reason to avert from being a normal person. People today encounter the same situation in everyday life by using excuses to get around inevitable things. Sarah s manifestation of change continues in the middle of the story as well. As Sarah progresses, she shows traits of tediousness. While reflecting on her feelings about herself, she says, I am an umbrella on a day with no rain (King 9). An umbrella on a day with no rain has no use, therefore the author is trying to show how Sarah thinks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Getting multiple opinions on a certain decision or situation could be the difference between a complete disaster taking place or a relieving solution. Some advice that others give happens to be useless and irrational, but if someone seeks more than one opinion, he or she could avoid bad advice by following the good instead. More opinions equals more options. Seeking multiple opinions is beneficial for you, and others too, because everyone has a different mindset, it can prevent bad decisions, and even helps a person make better choices in the future. To begin with, every human in the world has a different mindset. Some think deeply, some think simply. We are all different from the way we dress to the way we draw stick people. A game of soccer in which the players were permitted to hold the ball in their hands would be radically different, even incomparable to a traditional game, even if all other factors (weather, location, player s skill) were physically identical. In much the same way, although both begin with the same set of facts (materially closed universe, constant physical laws) Jaegwon Kims view on mental causation is radically different from Searle s, because they approach the issue from different philosophical perspectives. Their dissension stems not from one being fundamentally right or wrong, but from different assumptions. Kim accuses Searle of Causal Over Determination. He sees Searle as claiming that not only does m(F) cause m(G), but also that F causes G in an equally real way. Since m(G) is the true cause of G, the F to G causation must be illusory. Searle could likewise accuse Kim of Causal Over Distinction, arguing that m(F) is indistinguishable from F, and in that both together as one cause [m(G)+G]. In addition, Searle would say that Kim is making a fundamental mistake in thinking of mental states as being caused by physical states (related temporally), rather than existing simultaneously. This limits Kim s thinking, as two events related causally in this way cannot by definition be the same event. Searle suggests that we include a sort of permanent causation, by which molecular structures doesn t cause hardness, but rather is hardness. There is, as Searle rightly points out however, a ragged hole in Kim s conclusion. Kim asserts, as if to appease us, that mental states are both epiphenomenal and causal. By describing mental states as superveniently causal, i.e. appearing to be causal based on the true causality of their microproperties, he has satisfied Hume s requirements for causation, i.e. that causation itself is ... Kepler was a Copernican and initially believed that planets should follow perfectly circular orbits ( Johan Kepler 1). During this time period, Ptolemy s geocentric theory of the solar system was accepted. Ptolemy s theory stated that Earth is at the center of the universe and stationary; closest to Earth is the Moon, and beyond it, expanding towards the outside, are Mercury, Venus, and the Sun in a straight line, followed by Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and the fixed stars . The Ptolemaic system explained the numerous observed motions of the planets as having small spherical orbits called epicycles ( Astronomy 2). Kepler is best known for introducing three... As shown in Figure 1, The Sun is not at the focus of the ellipse, but is instead at one focus [usually there is nothing at the other focus of the ellipse]. The planet then trails the ellipse in its orbit, which implies that the Earth Sun distance is continually changing as the planet goes around its orbit. Kepler s second law states, The line joining the planet to the Sun sweeps out equal areas in equal times as the planet travels around the ellipse. As shown in Figure 2, an imaginary line from the center of the sun to the center of a planet sweeps out the same area in a given time. This means that planets move faster when they are closer to the sun. Kepler s third and final law states, The time taken by a planet to make one complete trip around the sun is its period. The ratio of the squares of periodic times for two planets is equal to the ratio of the cubes of their mean distances from the sun. Kepler s third law indicates that the time taken by a planet to orbit the Sun increases quickly with the radius of its orbit ( Johannes Kepler: The 1 4). The Adoption Of Electronic Health Records According to a survey from SK A, after an initial migration to health IT solutions, practice owners adoption of electronic health records (EHR) has plateaued with only about a 2.8% increase from January 2014 to January 2015. The survey found that overall adoption by physicians is 62.8%, and that, in general, the larger the practice, the (not surprisingly) higher the adoption rates, with 77.2% of docs at medical groups of 25 or more members using EHRs this is compared to only 54.5% of solo practitioners adopting the technology. Why the Drop in Adoption Rates? Other survey findings clearly illustrate the fact that while EHRs do come with benefits, most are not embraced by physicians because of their lack of functionality and difficulty of use. According to this survey , overall provider satisfaction with EHRs has declined by almost 30% over the past five years. Conducted by the American Medical Association and American EHR Partners, the survey questioned 940 practice owners about their level of satisfaction with their EHR. What was interesting right off the bat about these findings was that only 34% of physicians said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their EHR systems compared to 61% of respondents who were satisfied only five years ago. The survey also found: 42% of physicians described their EHR s ability to improve efficiency as difficult or very difficult. 43% said they were consistently challenged with their EHR s ability to address productivity. ... Psychological Perspectives And Related Research Studies An outline and evaluation of three psychological perspectives and related research studies Introduction The behaviourist approach transformed psychology in 1913 when John Watson put forward the theory that psychology should be about the study of observable behaviour ignoring all mental processes such as thoughts and emotions (Malim 1998). He viewed introspection as not being a reliable and objective method for psychological study and believed the aim of psychology should be to understand and control behaviour (ibid). He proposed that psychology should be seen as a science using controlled variables within experimentation (McLeod 2007a). This scientific approach made for a dependable method of assessing behaviour, however, critics of this approach argued that this method created artificial situations holding little ecological validity (ibid). Behaviourists also believe we are all born a blank slate and that all behaviour is determined from learning from a person s own environmental experiences either through classical conditioning, associating an external stimulus and a behavioural response, or through operant conditioning, association via consequences where behaviour is shaped through reward or punishment (Malim 1998). The Constitution is a short and concise document has been able to stand the test of time and it has remained the ultimate guide of principles for law creation and enforcement. With that being said, the words of the Constitution are unclear in many respects. Politicians have debates over the Constitutiondue to the reason that it is difficult to figure out what the Framers meant when they originally wrote the Constitution. However, the vagueness of the Constitution allows for the Supreme Court to interpret the Constitution differently since they have to figure out how to apply it to the twenty first century. He died from acute alcohol poisoning; his blood alcohol level was .40. (Carson s Story) Carson was not the first person to lose his life as a result of a stupid mistake and the inaction of others. Rather than being able to learn from his poorly made decision, Carson s life came to an abrupt end. At the end of the day, if an individual over consumes alcohol, that shouldn t be the last decision they make. A person s life, dreams and future shouldn t depend another s hesitation to call for medical attention due to fear of legal repercussions. By implementing medical amnesty legislation in all communities hosting college campuses, an increase in individuals seeking help, will contribute to the decreasing of college students dying due to alcohol over consumption and substance ... • 45. The Recession of 1973-1975 The recession of 1973 through 1975, was due to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) who rose gas prices and imposed an embargo against the United States. This quickly caused oil production to be cut dramatically, leaving no choice but to increase the price in oil. This recession, I am going to pin point the causes, fiscal and monetary policythe government uses to help the economy slowly come out from the recession. Also I am going to pin point the recession s recovery and expansion. The causes of this recession was due to the unemployment being too high and how it had rose even higher through the years. The unemployment rate was at 4.9% by the fourth quarter and rose significantly at 8.3% by the fourth quarter of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During these years, Ford was the current President who cut taxes, hoping to increase consumption goods. In 1974, the federal budget was close to being balanced with a deficit of less than 1% of GDP. In the fiscal year, the GDP rose to 3.4% and 4.3% the following year. This temporary deficit of the tax cut in 1975, helped raise the federal deficit, increasing the aggregate demand. They did not worry seeing the unemployment rate increasing rapidly in the 1974 because the enactment of new legislation ensured that a higher percentage of the unemployed end up receiving compensation in 1975. The first steps in taking action to the 1974 1975 recession was changes in taxes and spending. These changes heavily weighted toward a higher disposable income and consumption of moderate and low income persons. (The Economic Policy Institute) The results weren t so great, the consumption percentage of GDP rose in 1974 to 1975 and the investment percentage of GDP was lower in 1975 than in the 1974. Giving that the Ford tax increase of 1974 was not the best policy at that time. Really, the opposite contra cyclical policy was needed because it increases aggregate demand in recessions and decreases aggregate demand in overheated expansions. They also used monetary policy to support President Ford s stimulus package strategy, efforts to stimulate the economy. Nominal interest rates fell at a good rate in 1974, causing the recovery to be well under way by when it began to rise again in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discuss the extent to which recent reforms to murder in the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 are a change for the better but have not necessarily satisfied those who campaigned for change. [50] Loss of control is a partial defence to a charge of murder. If it is successful, D will be found guilty of manslaughter. This allows the judge discretion in sentencing. Loss of control replaced the former defence of provocation. This law is set out in s54 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009. The old defence of provocation was abolished by s56 CJA 2009. Under the new law, if D wants the defence to be successful, they need to have lost self control, there must be a qualifying trigger and a person of the same sex and age should react in the same way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second situation arises where D s long term alcohol/drug abuse has led to a recognised medical condition (such as alcohol or drug dependence syndrome) which causes an abnormality of mental functioning. (R v Wood). Giving the judgement of the court, Sir Igor Judge explained that the jury must first consider whether the defendant s syndrome was of such an extent and nature that it constituted an abnormality of mind induced by illness or disease. If they decided it was, they must then consider whether the defendant s mental responsibility at the time was substantially impaired by the syndrome. The Law Commission had proposed removing the loss of control criteria completely. This was because it was recognised that women in abusive relationships may kill from a combination of anger fear, frustration and a sense of desperation. The government decided not to follow this proposal. D must prove loss of self control. The only concession is that loss of control need not be sudden. It is probable that some abused women will not be able to use the defence. Sexual infidelity is no longer allowed as a qualifying trigger for the defence. Yet the defence of provocation was largely created for such situations and also widely biased towards men. If someone finds their partner cheating, they are very likely to lose self control, but if this leads to D killing V, they will no longer have a partial defence to a charge of murder. Surely that contradicts the aim ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Supernatural And Natural Aspects Of Women In The Old Ages In olden times, women were mostly seen as possessions or things to be won by men. There simply wasn t anything better than a beautiful woman, a heap of gold, and the power to control people. If you wanted a family, you had to have a wife to cook, clean, birth and rear your offspring. Despite the previous aspects of the old way of life being represented in these myths, they also demonstrate how sometimes carrying out the plan for a perfect family leaves you utterly alone. In these stories, women tied to the supernatural and natural elements are shown to be an almost forbidden fruit for men. Repeatedly, they try to win the maidens through trickery and stealth but the womaneventually escapes their grasp. This ties in with the purposes behind these myths. Which are to inform others on a specific way of life, explain rare beauty through supernatural phenomena, to educate on past formalities and to pass on knowledge to new generations by utilizing storytelling. The first myth, The Water Maid, is a German tale about a knight who gets lost in Harz Forest and stumbles upon what he believes to be an inhabited castle. As the story progresses, he discovers that a lone woman lives there. It was probably strange for him to discover this during this time, due to women not usually living in the middle of a forest with a house that she alone possessed. The pair became fast friends and eventually even husband and wife, but on one condition: that she d disappear every Friday and he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
