Data Security Case Study
The Compromising of Data Security Due to Corporate Consolidation The United States has held
serious tension with monopolies and overarching, powerful companies since before the Boston Tea
Party. They are some of the most illicit phenomena known to Americans, which has led to its
governmental regulation. Nevertheless, Americans have found a near enough equivalent:
oligopolies; the formation of very few, large companies dominating their respective sectors through
what is recognized as the concept of corporate consolidation . This process involves eliminating the
competition by essentially purchasing it, maintaining only a few potent, growing, businesses in the
market (Wu). Found in any type of industry, the pairing of the power these... Show more content on

Moreover, there are laws and organizations that are designed to try and defend the consumer in
instances involving large corporations such as the F.T.C, which initiated an investigation but could
not heavily fine the institution because it was a first offense, and the C.F.P.B, that could not
undergo prosecution of Equifax because of their sole focus on the quality and/or deceit of
products being sold in the market. Even if regulators could open up a case for Equifax, executives
would find a way to evade the situation by convincing the court that the case needs to be tried as
individuals and not as a whole enterprise(Henning). The implementing of organizations like these is
supposed to ensure the safety of the consumer, but evidently, that s a goal that is currently not being
fulfilled (Sotto and Logan). Incidents like the Equifax security breach is just one of many that
demonstrate that the administration holds an insufficient amount of power to successfully regulate
the way that members of oligopolies handle their customers personal information. Even more
concerning is the way in which Equifax managed said infringement. The prolonged time that the
corporation took to notify its customers of the illegal data access refrained them from performing

Zmot for Automotive Purchasing
The Zero Moment of Truth Automotive Study
Google/Shopper Sciences April 2011
Summary
The path to purchase in the automotive category is quite extensive. The vast majority of shoppers
take several months to go from decision to action. During this time, shoppers are using a wide
array of sources. FMOT, ZMOT and Stimulus all have above average usage.
Mobile and Online Social source nodes are the only ones that do not pass the average. However,
compared to Online Social and Mobile usage in other categories, the usage for Automotive is quite
strong.
Shoppers clearly identify in person experiences as the most influential test driving, visiting a

Aware Of The Large Amount Of Theories As Peter Ling Said
Aware of the large amount of theories as Peter Ling said The breadth of conspiracy theories
surrounding John F. Kennedy s death in Dallas is so capacious that little is discounted. For the
purposes of this essay the focus will be on the theories that evidence gives the most weight to.
The single bullet theory was introduced by the Warren Commission in its investigation into the
assassination of President John F. Kennedy. According to this theory, a three centimetre Carcano
rifle bullet was fired from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository, by Harvey Lee
Oswald, passed through President Kennedy s neck and Governor Connally s chest and wrist and
embedded itself in the Governor s thigh. The theory states that a single bullet, ... Show more content

analysing the frame by frame Zapruder film, identified his own hit later, at about Zapruder frame

Radio recordings captured on the radio traffic of police officers from the Dallas Police
Department who were positioned close to the motorcade and adjacent the grassy knoll. In these
recordings the first two gunshots could be heard faintly in the distance while the third was
noticeably louder and presumably fired closer to where the officers were stationed. Furthermore,
witnesses confirmed that gunfire came from the grassy knoll. These witnesses included six
railroad workers who confirmed reports of smoke being seen in the area surrounding the grassy
knoll immediately after the shooting stopped, onlookers that heard the sharp crack of a rifle
behind them as they observed the President s motorcade and Senator Yarborough who rode in the
motorcade a few cars behind President Kennedy. He stated that after driving by the grassy knoll
you could smell [gun] powder on our car nearly all the way to Parkland Hospital.
Of the one hundred seventy eight witnesses at Dealey Plaza, one hundred thirty two said that they
heard three shots. If Oswald was a single gunman, it would have taken him at least 2.3 seconds to
reload his Mannlicher Carcano rifle. Thus, it

Socratic Method In Law School
Law students and Lawyers are trained to be insensitive for a number of reasons. For starters the
environment the law student, or lawyer, experiences either in law school or in their ideal practice,
warrants competition. With competition comes aggression and hostility. In an environment like
that, insensitivity is second nature. At that point, insensitivity becomes an innate ability that you
will carry with you throughout the rest of your law school experience and so forth. The latter is
rooted in the idea of the Socratic method, the I ask a question, you answer, and I attack the validity
of your entire response ordeal, which most schools have adopted into their institutions. The latter is
displayed in the movie by Kingsfield as he addressed his class in the beginning and told them that
he would be using the Socratic method throughout the course of the semester. By using this method,
it improves the reaction time, the analytic response, and improves the targeted party s critical
thinking ability regarding hypotheticals. Not only that, it prepares the law student, and lawyer,
mentally and emotionally for the adversarial process. According to The Princeton Review (2017),
in a best case scenario, the Socratic method successfully derails a properly prepared student by
challenging their initial premises in the hopes of adverting the targeted individual s attention to the
bigger picture (The Princeton Review, 2017). Take the movie for example, Hart was not prepared

The Paradox Of Avatar
Movies create realities. As life tells the stories of each, each moulds the reality which he/she
believes in. Movies are like these stories of life, but recorded within the bandwidth of camera to
capture a perspective. Also, movies are applied to reality, are the reflection of the world, or are the
doorsteps of escaping reality fantasy. As of what James Camerons Avatar, this movie reflected the
three statements above this sentence. Avatar is a critical acclaimed hit when it released, spanning
dollars after dollars of sales and revenue. The question remains, what is the story of this movie?
As for these statements about Avatar, this blog would try to answer some key aspects of the film
through the set questions given by lecturer though not all questions will be answered. The first
question that will be answered is, where in the film do you see critiques evident of the current
state of the world in the characters, dialogue and content of the film? As clear water reflects the

Scape Goat As An American Scapegoat
A scapegoat is an event, person or object that is used to lay the blame on for all that goes wrong,
regardless of the contributions of others. Scape goat is a word that originated from the bible.
Historically the term comes from the Old Testament in regards to the Day of Atonement.
According to the Old Testament the goat was sent into the wilderness on the Day of Atonement
which represented the bearer of the sins of the people. So the goat would have the people sins on
its back and was sent out to perish, thus saving the people by its demise. In today s society
scapegoating is found in many forms. The most prevalent is scapegoating found in prejudices.

Comparing The American Dream And Bennett s Poly
Behind any reality lies a dream. The American Dream is an ever evolving concept, that every
person has an equivalent chance at being successful and content. It has become a conflicting idea
with people disagreeing over the possibility of actually attaining it. There are those who take a
pessimistic outlook and refuse to believe that there s more to life than what they set out to
accomplish. They live in a negative dream like state where there own cynicism prevents them from
reaching and achieving their dream. Those who attain their dream are the go getters who wake up
from this illusion and take an optimistic view towards seeking their dream. We as a people
pursuing the dream, must change with it to achieve it. It still remains a reality today... Show more

In the poem America by Claude Mckay, the speaker s feelings towards America are discussed.
This quote shows how with perseverance The American Dream is possible and how when it is
finally reached its worth all the hardships that were faced. The speaker says, I love this cultured
hell that tests my youth: her vigor flows like tides into my blood. Giving me strength erect
against her hate. (14 ). The speaker in the poem focuses on the big picture. He knows that the
struggles that are being thrust upon him will be worthwhile once his dream is accomplished. It
will mean so much more since there was work that was put into achieving his dream. From the
same poem, America , by Claude Mckay the preceding quote explains how with hard work,
motivation and determination any of your most astounding dreams can become a reality. The
quote says, Yet as a rebel fronts a king in state i stand within her walls with not a shred of fear, or
malice, not a word of jeer. Darkly i gaze into the days ahead, and see her might and granite
wonders there, Beneath the touch of Time s unerring hand, like priceless treasures sinking in the
sand. (14). The speakers perceives that he must overcome all adversities to achieve the grandeur
that is his dream. Although through all the obstacles that lie ahead, his dream may appear to be a
hazy mirage. He knows that once his dream is achieved

Hamlet Figurative Language Essay
Figurative language Based on Contrast It is the third type of figurative language which employs
an understatement (Litotes or Meiosis), exaggeration (Hyperbole and Understatement), and
contradictory (Paradox and Oxymoron). Iron refers to words say one thing but means something
else. 2.6.3.1 Litotes or Meiosis According to Serir (2012) Litotes, derived from a Greek word
meaning simple , is a figure of speech which employs an understatement by using double negatives
or, in other words, the positive statement is expressed by negating its opposite expressions. For
example, using the expression not too bad for very good is an understatement as well as a double
negative statement that confirms a positive idea by negating the opposite. Similarly,... Show more

One word more, good lady. In the above lines taken from Hamlet , he draws two contradictory
ideas be cruel...be kind . The contradiction is understood in the context of the play. Hamlet wants
to kill Claudius, the murderer of his father, who has married his mother. Hamlet does not want
his mother to be the beloved of his father s murderer. Therefore, he is of the view that this murder
will purge her. 2.6.3.5 IronyThe irony, in general, is a manner of speaking which implies a
discrepancy between what is expected and what actually happens. Words are used with
humorous or satirical intention so that the meaning is sometimes the direct opposite of what
has been actually said. It also implies the adoption of another s point of view for the purpose of
ridicule or sarcasm. Harry Shaw (1972: 208) states it is: a figure of speech in which the literal

Defining job requirements through a detailed analysis provides employers the right tool to hire the
most qualified personnel. Developing a structural approach to obtain the ideal employee is
challenging. Several key factors that impede planning for talent acquisition, include failing to
develop a talent strategy that aligns with organizational goals, not focusing on developing talent at
the middle and senior levels, and not understanding the type of individuals who are interested in

The Dilemma Of Hydropower Development On The Mekong
The Dilemma of Hydropower Development on the Mekong
Introduction
The Don Sahong Hydropower Project (DSHP) puts Laos under pressure. On one hand, the Lao
government seeks the opportunity to boost economic growth through producing and selling the
electricity. On the other hand, DSHP raises the transboundary concerns. Thailand, Cambodia, and
Vietnam as stakeholders on the Don Sahong Dam have voiced opposition to the development of the
dam. This is because the project will block the main channel for fish migration and reducing the
number of fish in the Lower Mekong Basin (LMB) that will threaten the environmental
sustainability and fisheries industry. Even though Laos has investigated negative impacts of the
DSHP and proposed widening other channels to provide alternative routes, the stakeholders
concluded that there is insufficient scientific information available about the alternative routes and
the lack of information on possible trans boundary impacts by the Project (MRC 2014). These
challenges clearly display the wicked problems because the problems are complex, persistent,
decentralized, having multiple stakeholders, evading definitive formulation, and lack if obvious
solutions (Howes Wyrwoll 2012). This essay further suggests the solution for DSPP s dispute by
creating a small dam, conducting further research, forming a treaty. In addition, Cost Benefit
Analysis (CBA) can be a foundation for better decision making on sustainable development of all

The Music Of The Song
A repetition of an upbeat piano piece, cheerful drum beats, and laughter from the audience, the
beginning of this song might lead you to believe this is a classic show tune. Nina Simone, the
songwriter and performer, certainly wants you to think this song is innocuous. She goes as far as
to describe this song as a show tune in the beginning of the lyrics. I believe, at Carnegie Hall back
in 1964, she focused on this aspect of the song to let the white audience s guard down just long
enough to surprise them with a powerful message.
The song s instrumental is purposely deceptive, it s lively and repetitive. There is one subtle but
significant change in the chords during the song. As she reveals in her lyrics and tone that this is

This grievous happening dramatically influenced Simone s views and music. She believed that
non violence was the correct way to fight prevalent racism. However, in her autobiography she
mentions how she attempted to make a home made pistol and kill somebody responsible after she
saw the incident on the news. The influence on her music was also significant. Before the bombing,
Simone concentrated her music career on folk and show tunes. However, enraged by the killings,
she wrote her first protest song, Mississippi Goddam. She wrote the song in an hour, which clearly
explains the raw rage, disappointment and disgust she displays in the lyrics (Cleary Simone, 1992).
Can t you see it? Can t you feel it? she asked to the white audience at Carnegie Hall, where the
song premiered. She expresses how she has lost faith in white America in the first verses, I don t
belong there. I ve even stopped believing in prayer. Her bluntness comes to a climax when she
sings, oh, but this whole country full of lies. You are all gonna die and die like flies. And then
Simone desperately pleads for the civil rights blacks have been denied for so long by saying, you
don t have to live next to me. Just give me my equality.
The audience and the nation was indubitably surprised by Simone s performance. Not only because

Theme Of Riders To The Sea
John Millington Synge was born in Newtown Villas, Rathfarnham,County Dublin on 16 April
1871.Synge s plays helped to set the dominant style of plays at the Abbey Theatre until the
1940s.His literary pieces were quite controversial and had its fair share of critics. This play
explores the story of Maurya and her family. Her husband and her sons had been victims to the sea
s rage.Synge s work looks at the prominent pagan rituals of the islanders contrasted with Catholic
beliefs .Synge s work draws inspiration from the countryside as he spent a substantive part of this
time in Aran Islands.Synge went to these islands at the suggestion of W.B. Yeats and spent a long
time there, studying the lives of the islanders and making a note of the language spoken by
them. While on the Aran island of Inishmaan, Synge heard the story of a man from Inishmaan
whose body washed up on the shore of the island of Donegal, which inspired Riders to the Sea.

The impact of technology on employee relations can be negative at times.
An example is Santander Bank, who announced to close down 139 branches in the next 6 months,
replacing the face to face services, with online banking access and telephone banking. This
decision not only affected customers, but employees as well, as this will result in over 1000

Also the implementation of new technological system can create conflicts and demonization among
employees, if it is not managed properly and if full support and training is not offered, in order to
accommodate the change taking place.

When it comes to employment status, it is very important to determine the type of employment, in
order to identify the employee rights and employer responsibilities, as these vary. The employment
contract is it an agreement between employee and employer, that outlines the responsibilities,

There are three main employment status types:
1. Employee is any person that works under a contract of employment, whether it is in writing or

The Finches From The Galapagos Island
Change is the key factor in a species survival, whether that change, is being minimal or
extremely dramatic, and without change a species have condemned itself to extinction. Animals
have learned to adapt to their surroundings in order to survive, and with these adaptation people
can witness new breeds added to the spectrum and see them flourish. Breeds can be defined as a
stock of animals or plants within a species having a distinctive appearance and typically having
been developed by deliberate selection. For example the finches from the Galapagos Island s they
are all finches, but they all differed in their appearance, some had smaller others had larger beaks.
Charles Darwinstudied these Finches and came to discover that the Finches differed in appearance
because they had adapted to their environment. The GalГЎpagos finches provide an excellent
example of this process. Among the birds that ended up in arid environments, the ones with beaks
better suited for eating cactus obtained supplementary food. As a result, they were in healthier
condition to mate. Similarly, those with beak shapes that were well suited in getting nectar from
flowers or eating thicker shielded seeds in other environments were at an advantage there. In a very
real sense, nature selected the best adapted varieties to survive and to reproduce. With his findings
throughout the years Darwin formulated his theory of evolutionby natural selection, and published
his first book entitled, On the Origin

Statement Of Purpose In Financial Engineering
From childhood, I have been passionate about mathematics and problem solving. Given the
quantitative focus of engineering, I pursued my undergraduate studies in civil engineering. During
my years in college, I used my elective courses to explore subjects from different disciplines. Of
these, I developed a deep interest in finance, particularly the financial markets and trading. To know
more in finance, I later enrolled in CFA level 1, participated in virtual stock marketcompetitions, did

According to the article entitled The Good and Bad of Social Media by Jason Howie, They have

using social media can cause depression. The usage of the media doesn t just slow you down
but can slowly shut your real life down. Therefore social media ends up hitting you from left to

getting bullying and killed for some unnecessary things they do on the media. Furthermore,
Howie writes We expect more from technology and less from one another. More and more, we

Fascism In Germany
Fascism succeeded in Germany, not as a result of Hitler being elected. There were many factors
that lead Hitler and the Nazi party to succeed. Hitler took advantage of situations such as the
Great Depression and the Reichstag fire to help the Nazi Party gain support and obtain power of
Germany. Along with taking advantage of those factors Hitler was able to convince the members
of Reichstag to pass the Enabling Act. Another way Hitler was able to gain more support was by
rewarding the people of Germanywith organizations such as the Gleichstang and strength through
joy. The Great Depression of 1929 impacted Germany tremendously. Already gone through the
Hyperinflation of 1923, the struggling Germany economy was facing another challenge. Many
Germans encountered unemployment along with German farmers facing the threat of price
declines of commodities and also the declining of markets. With many Germans facing
unemployment this meant they were not able to earn money so it was difficult to get food or other
necessities. This economic hardship gave Hitler the opportunity to reach out to the people of
Germany who were outraged and worried about their future. So, this economic tragedy brought
new supporters, voters, activists to the Nazi Party, which led them to gain more popularity. With
more support and popularity, the Nazi Party kept on growing and becoming more powerful. In
January 1933 Hitler was designated as Chancellor. He did not have much power at the beginning of

Standard Scores
2. What is a standard score?
A standard score is a scores that enables us to refer to the performance of an individual pupil in
relation to the whole population where the mean is 100 and the standard deviation is usually
15. It also allows schools to base their assessments per school year. This is due to standarised
scores taking into account the age of the pupil. A pupil in year 9 that has a date of birth of
September would generally be expected to get a higher raw score than a pupil born in July, both
pupils being in the same academic year. However, when calculating the standard scorethe age will
be taken into account. This ensures that relevant interventions/arrangements can be put in place for
pupils based on the standard score.
3. What scores are considered to fall within the average range?

One standard deviation is usually represented by 15 points from the mean. 2 standard deviations are
calculated usually by 30 points from the mean.
One standard deviation away from the mean in either direction represents around 68% of the
population that took that test. Two standard deviations away from the mean represent 95% of the
population.
8. What is reliability? What reliability should we choose when selecting a test?
Reliability of a test is measured by how accurate and consistent that test is when measuring a
target skill. For a test to be reliable it must have reliability of 0.8 or over. A reliable test should
give us a consistent score every time it is completed, i.e. if it a pupil was to complete the same
test that was delivered by 2 different assessors on 2 different days, a reliable test should still give
us the same outcome on both tests on both days.
9. What is validity? Name and describe the three mains types of validity.
Validity is a measurement of how well a test measures the skill that needs to be

The Pros And Cons Of Health Care
As the health care crisis in the United States continues to evolve there needs to be federal
involvement in reform for access to health care and the health care system. Reform must be
initiated in the private sector of the health care system as well as the federally ran portion of health
care in the United States. Citizens of the United States are fond of our particular representation and
limited government intervention in our lives. Furthermore, the federal government does not have
constitutional authority to initiate any type of healthcare reform. This issue of health care was
regulated to the states by the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution since there are no provisions in
the Constitution regarding health care. Another important issue is health care a right or a privilege.
Is health care a right or a privilege is a simple question, but difficult to answer. The question is not
so much an economic question, as many people claim, but a moral issue.1
The United States has world class medical facilities and some of the finest doctors in the world.
The United States also spends a higher proportion of its Gross Domestic Product on health care
than any other nation is the world, but only ranks 37 out of 191 countries.2 Uneven access to
health care across the United States is a contributing factor for the poor outcome of the health care
program. Even with the passage of the Affordable Health Care Act there are approximately 29

Gerber s Servant Leadership
Although Gerber (2007) provided several leadership themes throughout the book such as
Servant Leadership by Greenleaf (1977), The Leadership Challenge by Kouzes and Posner
(1995), and Motivation and Personality by Maslow (1954) she could have provided an even
stronger argument by referring to Goleman s (1995) book on Emotional Intelligence. Early on in
ER s marriage to FDR she was faced with the realization that her social secretary, a young
beautiful woman of twenty one was having an affair with her husband. FDR then in the role of
assistant secretary of the Navy (p.67) was neither discreet nor restrained about romancing his
mistress in public (Gerber, 2007). ER could have easily reacted to this situation with anger,
frustration, and contempt, instead she focused on her own growth (p. 71). Goleman termed this
type of inner healing as optimism or hope which has healing power (p.177).... Show more content

Instead of measuring ones IQ (conventional intelligence) Goleman s theory required
administrators to look at the leader s EQ (emotional intelligence) which measures behavioral and

Like Eleanor, you should work toward self mastery the ability to take control on your own terms

Lofty Diction In The Life Of St Degory
Saint Gregory of Nyssa opens his narrative The Life of St. Macrina, with a justification as to why
he is documenting accounts of St. Macrina s life. St. Gregory, St. Macrina s brother, sets out to
create a narrative that is both artless and simple , but rather, we receive a rich, detailed
expression of admiration and praise (77). According to St. Gregory, Macrina was the spiritual
leader in their family, using her knowledge of Scripture and philosophy to motivate her family
and others to cast off the illusion of a material life. With a wealth of knowledge and the ability to
persuade others, Macrina rose to the position of Superior. Saint Gregory, in his work The Life of
St. Macrina, utilizes lofty diction, tone, and a clear characterization of Macrina, which enables
us to see how through Christianity, women of the 3rd century had the freedom to establish an
identity outside of the secular, patriarchal world, and what levels of respect that identity yielded.
St. Gregory s use of lofty diction is apparent when he describes their mother s character. By using
lofty diction such as extremely virtuous, exceptionally pure, and spotless, it is obvious St.
Gregory holds his mother in high esteem, even though she was not a handmaid for the church
like Macrina (77). Moreover, if these are the words he chooses when describing his mother, we can
see why his word choice is lofty for Macrina, who held the respected position of Superior later in
her life. Nonetheless, due to

Women And Witchcraft In The 1600 s
Women were the primary targets of witch hunts, a craze that gripped medieval Europe between the
1600 s to the 1700 s. Women s bodies and sexuality were repressed due to it s dangerous threat to
the medieval society. Women s bodies were tortured and mutilated to prove the authenticity of
witchcraft. The evolution of the witch throughout the 1600 s to the 1800 s, changed the perceptions
of elderly women and witchcraftinto the modern times.
The fall of Eve in the Garden of Eden condemned women and their bodies. Women s bodies were
created for sin and were easily seduced by temptation. Women s bodies were weak and inferior
to men s bodies, for this reason they were viewed to have wanton and ravenous sexual appetites.
Roper makes this point by discussing Kramer s condemnation of women, All witchcraft comes
from carnal lust, which is in women insatiable (Roper 136). The feebleness of their bodies and
will caused them to make unwise decisions. One possible explanation for the divided depiction of
women could be the Madonna Whore dichotomy. Women were seen as either virginal Madonnas or
evil whores. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

History Of Incorporation
The first change according to Nace (2005) is that of easier incorporation This new system of
automatic approval for new corporate charters, known as general incorporation, had first been
introduced in the late 1700s as a means of allowing churches to receive charters without the need
to seek specific approval from the state legislature. (p. 89). Easier incorporation that began in the
late 1700s could be said to be the start of the empowerment of corporations. While only churches
were granted general incorporation in the late 1700s, any individual according to Glasbeek (2002)
can easily create a corporationin today s corporate world One of the more astonishing things about
this legal creation (and there are many) is that there are virtually no legal barriers to hurdle for
any individual who wants to form a corporation. (p. 7). In essence, the first change marked the
beginning of the empowerment of corporations by a way of making it easier to incorporate. In
relation to easier incorporation, the second change is that of perpetual existence as it was
described by Nace (2005) The classic corporation was chartered for a limited term and had to
periodically apply to have its charter extended every six to fifty years, depending on the type of
business. After the advent of general incorporation statutes, states gradually began to replace
limited terms with perpetual terms (almost half done so by 1903) (p. 91).

The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock Essay
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Elliot is in part a satire. It was written in the form of
a dramatic monologue delivered by the poem s speaker, J. Alfred Prufrock. It begins with him
asking an unknown you to accompany him on a walk. The two walk through town and stumbles
upon women talking about Michelangelo at a social event. The women s bare arms and long
dresses show off their knowledge of art. Prufrock wishes to talk to the women and is attracted to
them sexually but he is afraid. The story tells of a man who at first seems lonely and longing for
companionship. Yet with further investigation one can find a man who is suffering through a mid
life crisis, a mental break down within himself. Do you think love is blind?
J. Alfred Prufrock is afraid to approach the women because of his age and the way he is dressed.
Prufrock has a bald spot and he is self conscious about it. Just by reading the title of this poem, the
theme of love is obviously present. Although, when reading the title you may think this poem was
about a love story about a couple or something along those lines but it turns out different then the
reader would expect. The love song of J. Alfred Prufrock is weakly imbedded with love. Prufrock s
unsure attitude causes him to miss out on opportunity. He never actually acts upon his feelings for
the women talking about Michelangelo. In the poem he asks, Do I dare? as if he has something to
risk. He almost overcomes his fear and talks to the

Theodor Herzl s Influence On Judaism
Theodor Herzl was a Jewish poet who pushed not only for the acceptance of his Jewish
community, but also for a homeland for the Jews in the Middle Eastern Palestinian area. He
wrote about the injustices he witnessed, and used his writings as a way to share his opinions.
His support for the Israeli side of the conflict was a direct result of his Jewish upbringing and
ethnic background. His writings were colored with his views and beliefs about the rights of the
Jewish people. He greatly impacted the conflict as he was the visionary for modern Zionismand the

Herzl made valid arguments and was passionate about seeing the day when Jews could reside in
their own land. Peace was something Theodor always kept in mind, he never used violence to
make any of his points. Herzl essentially established Zionism itself, the development of a Jewish
nation now known as Israel. His first goal was to achieve support from his readers and recognition
of the issue in which he felt so strongly. He published Der Judenstaat , or The Jewish State, which
quickly became the primary source of Zionist literature in 1896. Theodor s second goal was to
put the idea of a homeland in Palestine for Jews into action. He did so by advocating the creation
of a Jewish Society or Jewish Company. The Jewish Company would handle the business and real
estate aspects of a mass migration into the land of Palestine. They would purchase the property of
migrating Jews and sell it to the Gentiles for profit. The Jewish Company legally purchased land
with the profits and donations from supporters of the Zionism movement allowing them to buy and

The Tea Of Tea Master
When I first entered the tea house, the aroma of many tea leaves struck me in my nose. I was
deeply welcomed by many people. The atmosphere was very lively. The first thing I realized when
sitting down at the tea gathering table was the amount of utensils there were to make a cup of tea
and the traditional clothing TeaMaster Michael Fung was wearing. This made me feel like Tea
Master Michael Fung was deeply passionate and interested in the art of tea. As more students
came, I realized that it was very cramped. It reminded me of a quote when Dr. Jack said that it
was best to drink tea with only two people and the more we have the more it feels uncomfortable.
During the beginning of the ceremony, Tea Master Michael Fung, owner of The Best Tea House

many differences such as how it smells and how the colour changes over time. Tea Master
Michael Fung also talked about the history and the origins of tea and why it is drank and how it
is developed. He also mentioned that the waxing paper determines the tea s quality. Pu er tea is an

Usually, most payday loan companies provide a cost breakdown per 100 dollar increments that
coincide with the rate.
Furthermore, most payday loan fees are based on the duration of the cash advance. The standard
APR for most companies falls into the 400 percent range. As an example, suppose you were to
borrow $100 at a fee of $20 for a 2 week period and if you did not pay if for a year, your service
charge would be $520 for a 520% APR. To which you need to remember to add the original $100
that you borrowed.
There may be a situation where you are unable to repay the full amount of the cash advance to the
payday loans company. In such a situation, the payday loans company generally charges the
payday loans finance fee and defers the principal payment over a longer period of time, usually
another 14 days.
The Other Hidden Costs
There are several hidden costs in a payday loan! Remember, if you are unable to pay this cash
advance and you happen to lose your job, the clock does not stop. If you default on the cash
advance, which includes the principal plus interest, the payday loan company will reclaim the entire
amount plus all the interest accrued on this loan. A payday loan company may exercise a number
of options to collect this cash advance:

Essay about Tourette Syndrome
Tourette Syndrome

Tourette Syndrome was named for George Gilles de la Tourette, who first discovered the syndrome
in 1885. Today there is still a mystery surrounding the disorder, it?s causes and it?s cures. But one of
the biggest mysteries is an associated behavior called coprolalia. This symptom is the uncontrolled
swearing or socially unacceptable utterances that some with Tourettes experience. Although despite
the media?s fascination, Tourette syndrome is not the cursing disease many believe it to be.
This baffling neurological disorder is characterized by repetitive motor and/or vocal tics. The
identifying symptom of TS seems to be tic disorders. ?A tic is a brief, repetitive, purposeless, ...

There are also utterances of insults and racial comments (Bruun 41). This seems the most
commonly recognized tic disorder of Tourettes. When most think of Tourette they automatically
assume the random cussing. Actually this seems to be a rare symptom. ?Coprolalia, the symptom
that the general public associates most often with TS, and it is not common?(Bruun 41).
It only occurs it a small minority of TS individuals. The numbers are an estimated 5 30% as
reported by the Tourette Syndrome Association in 1993. Some relate the coming on of an
inappropriate word as hard to control as a sneeze. They can feel it coming on but are unable to
control it even with medication (Michigan 1). One of the characteristics of coprolalia that sets it
apart from just simply swearing is that words come out compulsively. Most often when a person is
angry but even if they are just under stress (Kozlowski 1).
Causes of TS are still being debated and most leads are pointing to genetic factors. The
understanding of it seems to be incomplete and unfinished. But in 1999 researchers announced
that they had found evidence suggesting a link between chromosomes 4 and 8 and TS. Though
there still is no clearly identified gene to date. So all they can conclude is if one parent has TS there
is a 50/50 chance for the child to carry it unless it is liked by gender (Packer 5). A study done by
Dr. Ruth Bruun indicated a tendency toward a decrease in severity as patients grow in

Peripeteia means a turning point or a reversal moment, while anagnorisis means a point where a

Rhetorical Analysis Of A Computer Science Proposal
The following memorandum contains my rhetorical analysis on a computer science proposal.
The authors John E. Laird and Michael van Lent propose that human level AI researchers use
video games for AI research. Throughout the memorandum I will analyze what audiences the
article can reach and how it can persuade them in a sense. I will also analyze the conventions of
the article and where it seems to lose track of its main objective. As well as analyzing how the
document correlates with ethos, pathos, and logos. Audience AnalysisPrimary Audience: The
primary audience of the proposal is human level AI researchers. These are the main people the
authors want reading their proposal. The proposal does a very good job at stating what the
reason for the article is and whom the article is meant for in their introduction.Secondary
Audience: The secondary audience could be the abundant number of video game companies.
Some of these video game developing companies could take interest into what the authors are
proposing AI researchers do. These companies could either lend a helping hand to AI researchers
or use their own resources to make their own AI breakthroughs before researchers do. External
Audience: An example of an external audience could be the players of video games. The authors
brought up many interesting ideas that could attract gamers to join in the push for AI research

Although clear vision often represents intelligence and insight in Greek beliefs, Oedipus s perfect
eyesight does not help him see the truth. Ironically, it is the blind Teiresias who knows the most
and sees the farthest. Nevertheless, Oedipus is soon forced to confront the truth again, ironically
because Iocaste tries to steer him away from the truth, when the details she reveal about how King
Laios is killed matches in many details his own confrontation with King Laios. However, just as it
seems Oedipus and Iocaste have returned to the path to the truth and the ultimate climax, they
diverge off the path again as they latch themselves onto King Polybus s death as surefire evidence
that Oedipus is not the murderer. Oedipus is so happy and relieved to be able to convincingly
blind himself to the truth again that he displays no grief for the father he loved, declaring that
Polybos has packed the oracles off with him underground (50) with shocking triumph and
carelessness for the

A Farewell To Arms Rhetorical Analysis
I have a simple philosophy: Fill what s empty. Empty what s full. Scratch where it itches.
(Longworth). In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway conveys this simple
philosophy to tell the story of Frederic s internal battle between love and war. Frederic is
internally attempting to fill the empty void in his heart with love, while simultaneously emptying
the overflowing bucket of harsh memories from war. The itch of every man is the love of a
woman, and this itch is especially growing within Frederic, because, as the musical about men alone
at war, South Pacific, states, There is nothing like a dame. Ernest Hemingwayenhances the novel by
using several rhetorical strategies such as simple diction, syntax, foreshadowing, and... Show more

Throughout the novel, the rain is consistently brought up when Catherine reveals All right. I m
afraid of the rain because sometimes I see me dead in it, (Hemingway 126). The rain is not only
foreshadowing, yet it is a metaphor to death. For example, when Aymo, Tenente, Piani, Bonello,
and Frederic were on a road that led to a river (Hemingway 209) , when it began to rain again.
Which led to a shooting between Germans (supposedly) and the men. The constant repetition of
rain when death is present shows the metaphor that rain itself brings to the book. When rain
comes, death follows. The novel ends with Frederic leaving the hospital after Catherine has died,
it begins to rain. Since rain is shown at the end, maybe the author is leaving the reader of the
thought of Frederic going downhill in the future. The presence of rain equates to the presence of
death. This use of rain as a metaphor for death shows Hemingway s attitude through the
relationship between Frederic and Catherine. Rain is temporary, it comes when a cloud overflows
with moisture and disappears when the sun shines brightly, as goes the relationship between the
two. It comes and goes, explodes and disappears, just like the rain from the

BLOG: ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROS AND CONS OF NUCLEAR
POWERSTATION IN UK HARTLEPOOL
A nuclear debate on the fuel cycle to the key economic and environmental advantages and
disadvantages of nuclear power was held on the 3rd of March 2016 in Coventry University
212GED oil gas students. My acting role as EdF Witness local employee from Sizewell Nuclear
Power Station was to stand in favor of Pro nuclear .
The debate was to discuss why the committee should agree to deploy a nuclear power station in
Heartlepool. Our main concern about the generation of energy by nuclear is the radioactive
natural waste, the worry about its health and safety. It frightens the public as it being looked as a
mas destruction or perhaps a nuclear weapons and this makes it hard for one to easily adopt to the
benefit of nuclear energy but just a few realize the changes it bring to our lives over fewer years.
Nuclear plant uses Uranium atoms238. These are split in a process called fission, which releases
energy that is used to make steam, and used to power a turbine to generate electricity. True the
fuel is very radioactive and the harm to health could be cancer and for military security it could be
use as a war weapon. (EDF Energy, 2016)
Another concern Dealing with, is the decommissioning of a nuclear plant and the challenges that
are likely to occur during the cleaning of the material waste such as air and water pollution which
harms the community, the devastating story, Fukushima

Birth Control Should Be Considered A Human Right Essay
Access to birth control and other contraceptives is almost as hotly debated as abortion, when it
comes to women s healthcare and rights over their own bodies. In the article Birth Control Should
Be Considered a Human Right , is about how denying a women birth control is essentially denying
about half the population of the world a choice in what they want to do with their bodies. There are
roughly 80 million women who have unplanned/unintended pregnancies and 68,000 women die
from botched back alley abortions each year . Logic would follow that if those women had access
birth controlthe number of unplanned pregnancies would drop, Research has shown that satisfying
the current unmet need for contraceptives could prevent roughly 150,000 maternal deaths and 25
million induced abortions worldwide annually .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Who is Donald Duck?
Full Name: Donald Fauntleroy Duck
Birthdate: Egg hatched June 9, 1934 (Egg laid Friday, March 13, 1934)
Besides in my opinon, being the greatest cartoon character ever, Donald is the one in the little
blue suit that is more often in a rage than not. His personality shows through actions. He gives
new meaning to the phrase: Actions speak louder than words. His lines are few and almost
indecipherable, forcing his actions to speak the volumeof his parts. His personality makes his
character almost unpredictable and yet so predictable. One can almost guarantee a rise in temper,
but why? We ll just have to wait and see. More About Who Donald Duckis

Summary Of The Moving Spotlight
In The Moving Spotlight... Cameron offers an advanced philosophical discussion of the ontology of
time, and his contribution to contemporary debate on metaphysics of time (within analytic
philosophy) has already received a vivid response from academics and stimulated further debate. In
particular, Ingthorsson reflects on Cameron s moving spotlight theory in his McTaggart s Paradox
(Routledge Studies in Contemporary Philosophy), Routledge 2016, pp. 117 120. 1
Departing from the premises of the A theory of time, The Moving Spotlight s author aims to defend
... the best A Theoretic metaphysic rather than argue for the A theory (p. 1), thus the reader is
expected to be familiar with the A Theory and B Theory debate prior to reading this book.
To explain, positions in time, following McTaggart, can be distinguished in two ways: either each
position is earlier or later than some other position (constituting the B series with permanent
relations between positions); or each position is past, present or future (constituting the A series, and
these positions are changeable). An A theorist considers the A series to be essential to the nature of
time, and Cameron presents a version of the moving spotlight view as his preferred version of the A
Theory. To clarify, the moving spotlight theory is characterised by the combination of
permanentism, the thesis that everything exists forever, and the A theory, the thesis that there is an
absolute, objective present time 2. In Cameron s

Book Report on Apology Essay
Book Report on Apology
In the Apology , Socrates tackles his accusers against certain accusations made against him in the
Court of Law of Athens, Greece. The nature of the accusation that has caused him to stand trial is
such that Socrates is an evil doer, and a curious person, who searches into things under the earth
and in heaven, and he makes the worse appear the better cause; and he teaches the aforesaid
doctrines to others (Plato. The Republic and other plays. pg 449. Doubleday publishing; New York
1989). Socrates begins with first identifying the type of accusers he has, which consist of those who
are in direct contention with him, the primary accusers, since they are the ones who contrived the
accusations. Then there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
pg 454). He then explains that if he was corrupting others, he too would have been corrupted
long ago and there would be no good left. Also he rebuttals the charge of not believing in Gods
while believing in higher divinities. The charge, he shows how ludicrous was indeed in nature
since how can anyone believe in flute playing and not the flute player (Plato, pg 457). How can
one believe in spiritual and divine agencies, and not in spirits or demigods? But ultimately
Socrates defense is his self lessness. He attributes his deeds to his duty towards God. He makes it
clear that the obligation to truth is far more closer to God than any other social one that is
marked by malice. His poverty, his unchanging and impartial ways that he followed all his life to
search for the truth and when having found it, give it to others without taking into consideration
what the government in power would say or do about it in itself is an evidence and a virtue that
rises above all others to prove him innocent. His defense is simple and artless because it is the
truth, within which some more properties emerge. One of these can be identified as the simplicity
of truth and the other is its universality. Truly, although several impugn Socrates of wrong doing
and misguiding the youth, he was not the first or the last one tried on such a charge. This points to
the nature of truth to be unchanging. Despite all the advances a society may claim to having

Effects of Mining
Introduction
Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals and metals from underground. Mining takes various
forms which could be placer, hydraulic, open pit, place cast and hydraulic mining which are solely
dependent on the format and the technology used. Mining provides a source of livelihoods to
millions of people globally through employment. Mining is also a source of revenue as the
government also receives revenues from the sale of the precious stones and metals which also raises
the gross domestic product. Mining however has its short comings especially on the environment
and there is hence a need to exercise it with caution. There have been instances where mining
became disastrous, either by killing the workers or the animals within the mining environment. This
essay evaluates mining and its effects on the environment and the economy.
Effects of Mining
Economic Effects
Mining is a source of income for many families. The mining companies offer employment to
thousands of people thus supporting their families. Mining products can also be used in production
of ornaments such as gold earrings, home dГ©cor and building materials which can also give
people income. Through mining, communities can also engage in projects that sustain their
livelihoods and hence uphold the living standards of people. The government is also able to obtain
revenue from the companies engaged in mining and

  • 2. Data Security Case Study The Compromising of Data Security Due to Corporate Consolidation The United States has held serious tension with monopolies and overarching, powerful companies since before the Boston Tea Party. They are some of the most illicit phenomena known to Americans, which has led to its governmental regulation. Nevertheless, Americans have found a near enough equivalent: oligopolies; the formation of very few, large companies dominating their respective sectors through what is recognized as the concept of corporate consolidation . This process involves eliminating the competition by essentially purchasing it, maintaining only a few potent, growing, businesses in the market (Wu). Found in any type of industry, the pairing of the power these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, there are laws and organizations that are designed to try and defend the consumer in instances involving large corporations such as the F.T.C, which initiated an investigation but could not heavily fine the institution because it was a first offense, and the C.F.P.B, that could not undergo prosecution of Equifax because of their sole focus on the quality and/or deceit of products being sold in the market. Even if regulators could open up a case for Equifax, executives would find a way to evade the situation by convincing the court that the case needs to be tried as individuals and not as a whole enterprise(Henning). The implementing of organizations like these is supposed to ensure the safety of the consumer, but evidently, that s a goal that is currently not being fulfilled (Sotto and Logan). Incidents like the Equifax security breach is just one of many that demonstrate that the administration holds an insufficient amount of power to successfully regulate the way that members of oligopolies handle their customers personal information. Even more concerning is the way in which Equifax managed said infringement. The prolonged time that the corporation took to notify its customers of the illegal data access refrained them from performing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kennedy s death in Dallas is so capacious that little is discounted. For the purposes of this essay the focus will be on the theories that evidence gives the most weight to. The single bullet theory was introduced by the Warren Commission in its investigation into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. According to this theory, a three centimetre Carcano rifle bullet was fired from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository, by Harvey Lee Oswald, passed through President Kennedy s neck and Governor Connally s chest and wrist and embedded itself in the Governor s thigh. The theory states that a single bullet, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is not obvious at this point (frame 224) whether Connally has been hit. Connally himself, in analysing the frame by frame Zapruder film, identified his own hit later, at about Zapruder frame 230, whereas JFK is certainly hit about Zapruder frame 224, a third of a second earlier. Radio recordings captured on the radio traffic of police officers from the Dallas Police Department who were positioned close to the motorcade and adjacent the grassy knoll. In these recordings the first two gunshots could be heard faintly in the distance while the third was noticeably louder and presumably fired closer to where the officers were stationed. Furthermore, witnesses confirmed that gunfire came from the grassy knoll. These witnesses included six railroad workers who confirmed reports of smoke being seen in the area surrounding the grassy knoll immediately after the shooting stopped, onlookers that heard the sharp crack of a rifle behind them as they observed the President s motorcade and Senator Yarborough who rode in the motorcade a few cars behind President Kennedy. He stated that after driving by the grassy knoll you could smell [gun] powder on our car nearly all the way to Parkland Hospital. Of the one hundred seventy eight witnesses at Dealey Plaza, one hundred thirty two said that they heard three shots. • 7. Socratic Method In Law School Law students and Lawyers are trained to be insensitive for a number of reasons. For starters the environment the law student, or lawyer, experiences either in law school or in their ideal practice, warrants competition. With competition comes aggression and hostility. In an environment like that, insensitivity is second nature. At that point, insensitivity becomes an innate ability that you will carry with you throughout the rest of your law school experience and so forth. The latter is rooted in the idea of the Socratic method, the I ask a question, you answer, and I attack the validity of your entire response ordeal, which most schools have adopted into their institutions. The latter is displayed in the movie by Kingsfield as he addressed his class in the beginning and told them that he would be using the Socratic method throughout the course of the semester. By using this method, it improves the reaction time, the analytic response, and improves the targeted party s critical thinking ability regarding hypotheticals. Not only that, it prepares the law student, and lawyer, mentally and emotionally for the adversarial process. According to The Princeton Review (2017), in a best case scenario, the Socratic method successfully derails a properly prepared student by challenging their initial premises in the hopes of adverting the targeted individual s attention to the bigger picture (The Princeton Review, 2017). Take the movie for example, Hart was not prepared the first day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Dilemma Of Hydropower Development On The Mekong The Dilemma of Hydropower Development on the Mekong Introduction The Don Sahong Hydropower Project (DSHP) puts Laos under pressure. On one hand, the Lao government seeks the opportunity to boost economic growth through producing and selling the electricity. On the other hand, DSHP raises the transboundary concerns. Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam as stakeholders on the Don Sahong Dam have voiced opposition to the development of the dam. This is because the project will block the main channel for fish migration and reducing the number of fish in the Lower Mekong Basin (LMB) that will threaten the environmental sustainability and fisheries industry. Even though Laos has investigated negative impacts of the DSHP and proposed widening other channels to provide alternative routes, the stakeholders concluded that there is insufficient scientific information available about the alternative routes and the lack of information on possible trans boundary impacts by the Project (MRC 2014). These challenges clearly display the wicked problems because the problems are complex, persistent, decentralized, having multiple stakeholders, evading definitive formulation, and lack if obvious solutions (Howes Wyrwoll 2012). This essay further suggests the solution for DSPP s dispute by creating a small dam, conducting further research, forming a treaty. Nina Simone, the songwriter and performer, certainly wants you to think this song is innocuous. She goes as far as to describe this song as a show tune in the beginning of the lyrics. I believe, at Carnegie Hall back in 1964, she focused on this aspect of the song to let the white audience s guard down just long enough to surprise them with a powerful message. She believed that non violence was the correct way to fight prevalent racism. However, in her autobiography she mentions how she attempted to make a home made pistol and kill somebody responsible after she saw the incident on the news. The influence on her music was also significant. Before the bombing, Simone concentrated her music career on folk and show tunes. However, enraged by the killings, she wrote her first protest song, Mississippi Goddam. She wrote the song in an hour, which clearly explains the raw rage, disappointment and disgust she displays in the lyrics (Cleary Simone, 1992). Can t you see it? Can t you feel it? she asked to the white audience at Carnegie Hall, where the song premiered. She expresses how she has lost faith in white America in the first verses, I don t belong there. I ve even stopped believing in prayer. Her bluntness comes to a climax when she sings, oh, but this whole country full of lies. You are all gonna die and die like flies. The Finches From The Galapagos Island Change is the key factor in a species survival, whether that change, is being minimal or extremely dramatic, and without change a species have condemned itself to extinction. Animals have learned to adapt to their surroundings in order to survive, and with these adaptation people can witness new breeds added to the spectrum and see them flourish. Breeds can be defined as a stock of animals or plants within a species having a distinctive appearance and typically having been developed by deliberate selection. For example the finches from the Galapagos Island s they are all finches, but they all differed in their appearance, some had smaller others had larger beaks. Charles Darwinstudied these Finches and came to discover that the Finches differed in appearance because they had adapted to their environment. The GalГЎpagos finches provide an excellent example of this process. Among the birds that ended up in arid environments, the ones with beaks better suited for eating cactus obtained supplementary food. As a result, they were in healthier condition to mate. Similarly, those with beak shapes that were well suited in getting nectar from flowers or eating thicker shielded seeds in other environments were at an advantage there. In a very real sense, nature selected the best adapted varieties to survive and to reproduce. With his findings throughout the years Darwin formulated his theory of evolutionby natural selection, and published his first book entitled, On the Origin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hitler took advantage of situations such as the Great Depression and the Reichstag fire to help the Nazi Party gain support and obtain power of Germany. Along with taking advantage of those factors Hitler was able to convince the members of Reichstag to pass the Enabling Act. Another way Hitler was able to gain more support was by rewarding the people of Germanywith organizations such as the Gleichstang and strength through joy. The Great Depression of 1929 impacted Germany tremendously. Already gone through the Hyperinflation of 1923, the struggling Germany economy was facing another challenge. Many Germans encountered unemployment along with German farmers facing the threat of price declines of commodities and also the declining of markets. With many Germans facing unemployment this meant they were not able to earn money so it was difficult to get food or other necessities. This economic hardship gave Hitler the opportunity to reach out to the people of Germany who were outraged and worried about their future. So, this economic tragedy brought new supporters, voters, activists to the Nazi Party, which led them to gain more popularity. With more support and popularity, the Nazi Party kept on growing and becoming more powerful. In January 1933 Hitler was designated as Chancellor. He did not have much power at the beginning of ... A standard score is a scores that enables us to refer to the performance of an individual pupil in relation to the whole population where the mean is 100 and the standard deviation is usually 15. Citizens of the United States are fond of our particular representation and limited government intervention in our lives. • 30. Lofty Diction In The Life Of St Degory Saint Gregory of Nyssa opens his narrative The Life of St. Macrina, with a justification as to why he is documenting accounts of St. Macrina s life. St. Gregory, St. Macrina s brother, sets out to create a narrative that is both artless and simple , but rather, we receive a rich, detailed expression of admiration and praise (77). According to St. Gregory, Macrina was the spiritual leader in their family, using her knowledge of Scripture and philosophy to motivate her family and others to cast off the illusion of a material life. With a wealth of knowledge and the ability to persuade others, Macrina rose to the position of Superior. Saint Gregory, in his work The Life of St. Macrina, utilizes lofty diction, tone, and a clear characterization of Macrina, which enables us to see how through Christianity, women of the 3rd century had the freedom to establish an identity outside of the secular, patriarchal world, and what levels of respect that identity yielded. St. Gregory s use of lofty diction is apparent when he describes their mother s character. By using lofty diction such as extremely virtuous, exceptionally pure, and spotless, it is obvious St. Gregory holds his mother in high esteem, even though she was not a handmaid for the church like Macrina (77). Moreover, if these are the words he chooses when describing his mother, we can see why his word choice is lofty for Macrina, who held the respected position of Superior later in her life. Women s bodies and sexuality were repressed due to it s dangerous threat to the medieval society. Women s bodies were tortured and mutilated to prove the authenticity of witchcraft. The evolution of the witch throughout the 1600 s to the 1800 s, changed the perceptions of elderly women and witchcraftinto the modern times. The fall of Eve in the Garden of Eden condemned women and their bodies. Women s bodies were created for sin and were easily seduced by temptation. Women s bodies were weak and inferior to men s bodies, for this reason they were viewed to have wanton and ravenous sexual appetites. Roper makes this point by discussing Kramer s condemnation of women, All witchcraft comes from carnal lust, which is in women insatiable (Roper 136). • 32. History Of Incorporation The first change according to Nace (2005) is that of easier incorporation This new system of automatic approval for new corporate charters, known as general incorporation, had first been introduced in the late 1700s as a means of allowing churches to receive charters without the need to seek specific approval from the state legislature. (p. 89). Easier incorporation that began in the late 1700s could be said to be the start of the empowerment of corporations. While only churches were granted general incorporation in the late 1700s, any individual according to Glasbeek (2002) can easily create a corporationin today s corporate world One of the more astonishing things about this legal creation (and there are many) is that there are virtually no legal barriers to hurdle for any individual who wants to form a corporation. (p. 7). In essence, the first change marked the beginning of the empowerment of corporations by a way of making it easier to incorporate. In relation to easier incorporation, the second change is that of perpetual existence as it was described by Nace (2005) The classic corporation was chartered for a limited term and had to periodically apply to have its charter extended every six to fifty years, depending on the type of business. After the advent of general incorporation statutes, states gradually began to replace limited terms with perpetual terms (almost half done so by 1903) (p. 91). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two walk through town and stumbles upon women talking about Michelangelo at a social event. The women s bare arms and long dresses show off their knowledge of art. Prufrock wishes to talk to the women and is attracted to them sexually but he is afraid. The story tells of a man who at first seems lonely and longing for companionship. Yet with further investigation one can find a man who is suffering through a mid life crisis, a mental break down within himself. Do you think love is blind? J. Alfred Prufrock is afraid to approach the women because of his age and the way he is dressed. Prufrock has a bald spot and he is self conscious about it. Just by reading the title of this poem, the theme of love is obviously present. Although, when reading the title you may think this poem was about a love story about a couple or something along those lines but it turns out different then the reader would expect. • 44. Sight And Blindness In Oedipus The King Pushed to the last breaking point, Teiresias finally reveals the truth that the audience has been waiting for. However, instead of the anticipated cathartic climax to release the accumulated dramatic tension and irony from Oedipus s misguided pursuit of the truth, the play bombards the audience with still more tension and tragic irony in an emotional roller coaster as Oedipusand Iocaste attempts to run away from their inevitable fate. Oedipus refuses to believe the truth Teiresias reveals. Wrongly equating physical sight with mental insight, wit, and sense, he taunts Teiresias for his physical blindness, calling him a sightless, witless, senseless, mad old man! Ironically, it is the blind Teiresias who knows the most and sees the farthest. Nevertheless, Oedipus is soon forced to confront the truth again, ironically because Iocaste tries to steer him away from the truth, when the details she reveal about how King Laios is killed matches in many details his own confrontation with King Laios. However, just as it seems Oedipus and Iocaste have returned to the path to the truth and the ultimate climax, they diverge off the path again as they latch themselves onto King Polybus s death as surefire evidence that Oedipus is not the murderer. Oedipus is so happy and relieved to be able to convincingly blind himself to the truth again that he displays no grief for the father he loved, declaring that Polybos has packed the oracles off with him underground (50) with shocking triumph and carelessness for the ... • 45. A Farewell To Arms Rhetorical Analysis I have a simple philosophy: Fill what s empty. Empty what s full. Scratch where it itches. (Longworth). In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway conveys this simple philosophy to tell the story of Frederic s internal battle between love and war. Frederic is internally attempting to fill the empty void in his heart with love, while simultaneously emptying the overflowing bucket of harsh memories from war. The itch of every man is the love of a woman, and this itch is especially growing within Frederic, because, as the musical about men alone at war, South Pacific, states, There is nothing like a dame. Throughout the novel, the rain is consistently brought up when Catherine reveals All right. I m afraid of the rain because sometimes I see me dead in it, (Hemingway 126). The rain is not only foreshadowing, yet it is a metaphor to death. For example, when Aymo, Tenente, Piani, Bonello, and Frederic were on a road that led to a river (Hemingway 209) , when it began to rain again. Which led to a shooting between Germans (supposedly) and the men. The constant repetition of rain when death is present shows the metaphor that rain itself brings to the book. When rain comes, death follows. The novel ends with Frederic leaving the hospital after Catherine has died, it begins to rain. Since rain is shown at the end, maybe the author is leaving the reader of the thought of Frederic going downhill in the future. The presence of rain equates to the presence of death. This use of rain as a metaphor for death shows Hemingway s attitude through the relationship between Frederic and Catherine. Rain is temporary, it comes when a cloud overflows with moisture and disappears when the sun shines brightly, as goes the relationship between the two. It comes and goes, explodes and disappears, just like the rain from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My acting role as EdF Witness local employee from Sizewell Nuclear Power Station was to stand in favor of Pro nuclear . The debate was to discuss why the committee should agree to deploy a nuclear power station in Heartlepool. Our main concern about the generation of energy by nuclear is the radioactive natural waste, the worry about its health and safety. It frightens the public as it being looked as a mas destruction or perhaps a nuclear weapons and this makes it hard for one to easily adopt to the benefit of nuclear energy but just a few realize the changes it bring to our lives over fewer years. Nuclear plant uses Uranium atoms238. These are split in a process called fission, which releases energy that is used to make steam, and used to power a turbine to generate electricity. True the fuel is very radioactive and the harm to health could be cancer and for military security it could be use as a war weapon. • 49. Summary Of The Moving Spotlight In The Moving Spotlight... Cameron offers an advanced philosophical discussion of the ontology of time, and his contribution to contemporary debate on metaphysics of time (within analytic philosophy) has already received a vivid response from academics and stimulated further debate. In particular, Ingthorsson reflects on Cameron s moving spotlight theory in his McTaggart s Paradox (Routledge Studies in Contemporary Philosophy), Routledge 2016, pp. 117 120. 1 Departing from the premises of the A theory of time, The Moving Spotlight s author aims to defend ... the best A Theoretic metaphysic rather than argue for the A theory (p. 1), thus the reader is expected to be familiar with the A Theory and B Theory debate prior to reading this book. To explain, positions in time, following McTaggart, can be distinguished in two ways: either each position is earlier or later than some other position (constituting the B series with permanent relations between positions); or each position is past, present or future (constituting the A series, and these positions are changeable). An A theorist considers the A series to be essential to the nature of time, and Cameron presents a version of the moving spotlight view as his preferred version of the A Theory. To clarify, the moving spotlight theory is characterised by the combination of permanentism, the thesis that everything exists forever, and the A theory, the thesis that there is an absolute, objective present time 2. • 50. Book Report on Apology Essay Book Report on Apology In the Apology , Socrates tackles his accusers against certain accusations made against him in the Court of Law of Athens, Greece. The nature of the accusation that has caused him to stand trial is such that Socrates is an evil doer, and a curious person, who searches into things under the earth and in heaven, and he makes the worse appear the better cause; and he teaches the aforesaid doctrines to others (Plato. The Republic and other plays. pg 449. Doubleday publishing; New York 1989). Socrates begins with first identifying the type of accusers he has, which consist of those who are in direct contention with him, the primary accusers, since they are the ones who contrived the accusations. Then there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... pg 454). He then explains that if he was corrupting others, he too would have been corrupted long ago and there would be no good left. Also he rebuttals the charge of not believing in Gods while believing in higher divinities. The charge, he shows how ludicrous was indeed in nature since how can anyone believe in flute playing and not the flute player (Plato, pg 457). How can one believe in spiritual and divine agencies, and not in spirits or demigods? But ultimately Socrates defense is his self lessness. He attributes his deeds to his duty towards God. He makes it clear that the obligation to truth is far more closer to God than any other social one that is marked by malice. His poverty, his unchanging and impartial ways that he followed all his life to search for the truth and when having found it, give it to others without taking into consideration what the government in power would say or do about it in itself is an evidence and a virtue that rises above all others to prove him innocent. His defense is simple and artless because it is the truth, within which some more properties emerge. One of these can be identified as the simplicity of truth and the other is its universality. Truly, although several impugn Socrates of wrong doing and misguiding the youth, he was not the first or the last one tried on such a charge. This points to the nature of truth to be unchanging. Despite all the advances a society may claim to having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
