The Reform And Implementation Of A New Defined Benefit...
INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension
system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. A
new 1st pillar earnings related defined benefit scheme named Jaminan Pensiun (JPN) was
officially put into place on July 1st. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar
program, the implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested
by the World Bank (World Bank, 2008). In this paper, the adequacy, sustainability, predictability,
and robustness of Indonesia s pension scheme will be evaluated in comparison to other countries
with similar pension schemes. The focus will mostly be on the new program JPN, and to a lesser
extent, the old Jamsostek program Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT). DB AND DC SCHEMES Indonesia
has both of these schemes implemented in the pension system. Both schemes cover only the formal
sector. DC (Jaminan Hari Tua) Prior to the 2015 reform, Indonesia s DC system was abused by
contributors by withdrawing the balance long before the maturity of the fund/retirement . A reform
was made so that the minimum contributory period was 10 years and a large part of the balance
cannot be withdrawn until participants reach retirement age. Most individuals do not understand
the actuarial component in a DC scheme. Early contributions in the accumulation period matters
more compared to the latter ones. Most Individuals do not know the power of compound

The Military Is Too Big For Our Country
If you had to go into the military, why would you do it? For the money and the benefits, or to be a
proud American and serve our country? There are many people who go into the military to do bare
minimum as long as they receive their benefits, including free college tuition. Then there are types
of people who join because they wantto do well for America. The militaryshould only consist of
people who want to be patriotic to their country rather than use the government for their benefits
and money. Better soldiers come from ones that are motivated to serve and protect our country. We
needto have a military for the sake of safety and being protected from terrorists, other countries,
and for humanitarian reasons. There is a problem with the military not paying much attention to
quantity versus quality. The military is too big for the jobs that they have. It needs to consist of
better quality soldiers instead of focusing on have the world s largest military. A lot goes into
recruitment as well, but maybe not enough. The different motives of soldiers play a role on the
outcome of them in the end, and what makes them the best for that position. Different recruitment
methods could give the military better quality soldiers. Depending on the people s motives, you
can have lazy soldiers, or soldiers that will give it their all. Recruitment can weed out the lazy
soldiers and give America better quality soldiers. The military is crucial for this country, and it
needs to consist of

Essay On Emily Davison
Civil disobedience is the act of going against the law and refusal to do what the government
says. It is very common in many countries all over the world. Henry David Thoreau wrote a book
on civil disobedience which is very good. He speaks on a lot of things that are wrong with the
government and the citizens. It was first published in 1889. There are so many acts of civil
disobediencethat are interesting but this one catches a lot of people s eyes. It is the case of Emily
Davison. She fought for the rights of women to vote in the United Kingdom. Davison went to jail
on many occasions. Emily had a sad but interesting death that impacted a lot of people. Emily
Davison was born on October 11, 1872 in Blackheath, London. Her parents were... Show more

She got arrested plenty of more times. July 30, 1909 she was arrested for two months in prison
for obstruction. On September 4, 1909 she was arrested for two months for stone throwing at
White City, Manchester. October 20, 1909 she was in jail for a month for stone throwing at
Radcliffe near Manchester and on November 19, 1910 one month for breaking windows in the
House of Commons. She was arrested all of those times for throwing stones because her and
other women would chain themselves to government buildings and throw stones through the
windows to gain their attention. January 10, 1912 six months for setting fire to postal boxes at
Holloway, London. Lastly on November 30, 1912 ten days for assaulting a vicar who she mistook
to be David Lloyd George. Emily would do all of this just to win the rights of women being able to
vote and get equal rights as men.
Davison had a very interesting but tragic death. She died June 4, 1913 on a Wednesday. She got
injured at an horse race called the Epsom Derby. Emily was standing by the white rail near
Tattenham corner when a group of horses passed. She had on a trench coat and under it she had
a flag in the WSPU colors of purple, white, and green tied around her body. When the second
group of horses passed she climbed under the railing and raised her hands up. Emily tried to grab
the rein of the King s horse Anmer. Anmer knocked her over, rolled on his back, and started
kicking her super hard. Horses kick

Plea Bargaining Case Study
The plea bargaining process is a crucial tool used in today s courts system so that the court can flow
efficiently without become congested with court cases. However, although plea bargains help the
court, they have been known to generate problems for the defendants in the court. A plea bargain is
an agreement between the prosecutor and the defendant in exchange for their guilty plea with a
more lenient sentence than what they could possibly receive in court. Pleasbecome a problem with
defendants because it causes a disservice to those who are truly innocent, poor, or even those of a
minority race.
Plea bargains are used for 97% of court cases at the federal level, and 94% of cases at the state level

The Era Of The Gilded Age
From 1865 to 1900, the American industry paved the way for an era like none that has been seen
before. The country built and invented more supplies and materials than anyone had thought
possible. Even though, this time in history seemed progressive on many fronts, it was known as
the Gilded Age . The Gilded Agewas a three decade time in America that involved an expanding
economy and a useless government. The thought of going to an American city, getting a job, and
getting paid was ideal to most outsiders. The problem was, once they arrived and found a job, it
was not as wonderful as it seemed . It was called the Gilded Age because, from the outside,
everything looked wonderful, but on the inside it was spoiled. During America s... Show more

Along with other factors, the ghettos shined a bad light on immigrants because the ugly and
unkempt house were a reflection of the immigrants living there. The city people were no longer
accepting of the foreigners and nativism began. Nativism is protecting the interests of native born
people against the interests of immigrants. Most Americans were afraid of the immigrants and the
power they had on the economy, so they started to attack the immigrants, both physically and
socially. Many political cartoons were published supporting anti immigration and violence was
geared towards the newcomers (Appleby 310). There is no doubt the abundant numbers of
immigrants created issues amongst the American people. Immigration was an issue that needed
attention. In attempt to hinder the incoming population, the Chinese Exclusion Act started in 1882.
The act prevented all people of Chinese origin to move to America. It also prevented any Chinese
person already living in America to gain citizenship, if they had not already (310). The government
also began to put regulations and restrictions on who could enter the U.S. In 1907 the Immigration
Commission was established. This department only had to deal with immigration and immigration
laws. They prevented unskilled immigrants and criminals from entering the U.S. Their job was also
to deport any immigrants that had committed a crime (America and Immigration). The government
understood the problems immigration was creating

The Famous Greek Philosopher And The Best Greek Philosophers
Socrates was known as one of the best Greek philosophers born in Athens in 469 BC. He wasn t
one to keep his legacy alive by physically writing it down. Socrates was a verbal philosopher who
taught orally. He always had questions beyond questions for anyone and everyone who he
crossed paths with. He was a curious person and his curiosity is what lead him to become the
great philosopher he is known by today. He would talk to anyone who was willing to listen, no
matter the gender, wealth, or age of the person. Socrateswas known for not accepting money for
his teachings. He lived a fairly poor life but he was known for his character and the way he
presented himself. He taught himself before he taught others without even realizing it. Self
development was the main aspect he used to tell his fellow believers, rather than focusing on
becoming a wealthy person. The Socratic Methodis known as the famous process in helping
people. He would ask them a number of questions and listen to what one had to say, rather than
making assumptions and jumping to conclusions. His goal was to let the other person listen to
themselves and realize what they are speaking. He tried to give them a voice of reasoning and
have them truly understand that the answer doesn t necessarily have to come from someone else s
perspectives but their own. Socrates ended up being put on trial for a number of reasons. Our
modern day knowledge of the word apology has no where near the same meaning as the title

Cell Phone Addiction Essay
The cell phone has become a centerpiece of everyday life as cell phones are evolving and have
been increasing their functionalities. Today, we use them today for many others reasons than
what cell phones were originally designed to do. People are using them so often that they are
becoming dependent on their phones that they have even become addicted to them. Those who
are addicted to their cell phones struggle to stay away from them for a certain period of time and
become so indulged in all of the unique things they can provide. With cell phone addiction comes
many problems or issues that can occur in an individual s life. Cell phone addiction has lead to
differences in people mentally, physically, and behaviorally.

Luigi Gallimberti, et. al discusses in their article Problematic Cell Phone Use for Text Messaging
and Substance Abuse in Early Adolescence (11 to 13 year olds), that problematic cell phone use
(PCPU), is associated with psychological distress, low self esteem, depression, drug abuse,
insomnia, and thoughts of suicide (356). The overuse of cellphones can really detriment a
person mentally and could cause them to arrive at one of these issues stated. An issue also arises
when a person with a cell phone addiction is in school. They tend to remain unfocused while on
their phones and they don t participate during class. In a sample, the students who had better test
grades were less likely to have a problematic cell phone addiction (Gallimberti, et. al 360). This
finding confirms the positive association between cell phone addiction and poor performance in
school. In schools, it was concluded that this overuse of cellphones was positively connected with
deficient school performance in teens with an average age of 15.7 years old (Gallimberti, et. al

Summary Of The Celebrated Jumping Frog
I picked The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County , because I thought it looks
interesting from reading my classmate Mini s thoughts on Discussion Forum Unit 5. I felt a
little out of sorts after reading The Bet , but I knew The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras
County was the story with same bet theme and I tried to read it for a change. The Celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County has an as told to framework. A talkative man named Simon
Wheeler relates to Mark Twain (the narrator) the story of a gambler named Jim Smiley and the
amazing animals Smiley used in his schemes (Wilson, 1997, p18). Jim Smiley made a bet with
the stranger. He offered to bet forty dollars that Dan l Webster (frog) could outjump any frog in
Calaveras County. But the stranger is a con artist, he spooned buckshot into Dan l Webster s mouth
that he is unable to jump. Consequently, Jim Smiley had lost the wager. He found out soon after,
but it was too late. I didn t like it or hate this story at first. This was quite a humorous story, but I
hate racing between animals by constraint. After that, I knew this story provided relevant and
incisive commentary about ninteenth century American society (Wilson). The Celebrated Jumping

Effects Of Drugs On Prenatal Development
There are several hazards and risk with prenatal development. I believe that Drugs has a huge
impact on prenatal development. Prenatal substance abuse continues to be a significate problem in
the country and possess import health risk for the developing fetus. Abusing narcotics during
pregnancy increases your risk of miscarriage or still birth, preterm labor, placenta abruption, fetal
death and even maternal death. It can also cause impaired fetal growth and lead to a host of health
problems.
Different substances might do have different effects on the fetus and carry varied risk, but virtually
all commonly used recreational drugs cross the placenta, where they are exposed to a developing

Economic benefit to the U.S. in supplying belligerents during the First and Second World Wars left
the nation in relative secure economic condition. However, prior to the implementation of what
became known as the Truman Doctrine, the U.S. generally steered clear of foreign entanglements
unless U.S. security was threatened. The Truman Doctrine was a turning point in U.S. foreign

Physiology Of The Ear
Introduction
The ear is a combination of different organs and body parts that in conjunction allow us to hear. It
is a sensitive piece of anatomy that can easily be abused, different frequencies at certain amplitudes
through out our audible and inaudible ranges can slowly or very quickly damage our ability to
perceive audio, even through something as simple as listening to your headphones mildly to loud.
This damage can be present in many different forms each with variable extremities.
Physiology of the Ear
The ears previously mentioned are a collaboration of different very small and delicate organs and
body parts. The first and most recognisable part of the ear is the only visible section, the Auricle,
Pinna or outer ear, this works as the receptor for audio and works quite on the contrary to the horn
of a gramophone, it s larger surface area allows for the capturing of sound waves and then funnels
the vibrations in through the ear cannel to the other parts of the ear (Mackenna and Callander,
1997). The next piece of anatomy to receive the acquired sound waves is the tympanic membrane or
the eardrum, this is stretched indirectly across the end of the ear canal, it operates as the main
sound receptacle, when sound waves hit it s surface it vibrates, which then causes the ossicles; the
combination of the malleus, stapes and the incus, located and attached to the eardrum transmits the
sound to the vestibular window, two muscles then modulate the

How Effectively Did Tudor Governments Deal with Rebellion...
How effectively did Tudor governments deal with rebellion in England and Ireland?
Tudor governments were relatively successful in dealing with the problem of rebellion, although
this was more effective towards the end of the period than at the beginning shown through the
decline in rebellion after 1549: only 5 English rebellions occurred as opposed to 10 before 1549.
Over the course of the Tudor period the main aims of rebellions were only fully achieved in the
rebellions of 1525, the Amicable Grant and 1553. In addition to this the reforms made to local
government, policies directly implemented by central government and the effects of trials and
retribution, such as Henry VII s concessions made to the late 15th century pretenders, Lambert ...

In Ireland, rival clan chiefs were offered rewards, pardons and promises in return for helping to
maintain English rule, Elizabeth in particular in 1558 for example, invited rebel leader Shane O
Neill to London where she recognised him as Earl of Tyrone. A similar policy of conciliatory
politics can be observed under Edward VI and Henry VIII, who in response to the Pilgrimage of
Grace sent the Duke of Northumberland to bargain with rebel leaders; Robert Aske was even
invited to the palace and treated with dignity on Christmas day 1536. Protector Somerset,
operating on Edward s behalf, sent Peter Carew to persude the Prayer Book rebels to disperse in
1549, arguably with lesser success considering his heavy protestant agenda, conciliatory politics
is also shown to be used to lesser success through Henry VII s decision to replace members of the
leading clan, the Geraldines, with loyal English officials actually resulted in increased disorder
from 1534 1603 and attempts by rival Irish clans to seize power.
Concessions were generally made to rebels were largely a strategy used to buy time to assemble
troops to suppress rebellions in Tudor England. However some lasting concessions made by Tudor
governments

Battle of Normandy Essay
One of the most significant encounters of World War II was the Battle of Normandy (the first
day of which is commonly referred to as D Day). Nearly three million soldiers were deployed for
the invasion. Those deployed consisted mainly of American and British soldiers, however
Canadian, French, Polish, Belgian, and Czech forces were represented as well (Jensen). The battle
was fought in an effort to gain European ground and to reduce the German potential for
overrunning Russia (Lucas). The Battle of Normandy was significant in that it was the turning
point of World War II, incurred heavy casualties on each side, and was the greatest amphibious
landing in history (Cohen). The events leading up to the Battle of Normandy are perhaps... Show

Thousands of large still spikes (known as hedgehogs) were also sunk into the sand to halt the
progress of enemy tanks (Newark 145). Allied troops readied themselves for the assault. The
attack on Normandy had been pushed to June fifth, 1944; however the forecast on June third
predicted unfavorable conditions due to unusually high winds. The invasion ultimately took
place on June 6th, 1944 (D Day) (Cohen). The first troops deployed into battle were
paratroopers. Over thirteen thousand U.S. paratroopers were dropped by an armada of C 47s
behind German lines before dawn. Their mission was to seize bridges, disrupt communications,
and prevent German soldiers from reinforcing the Normandy beaches as the Allied assault hit the
coastline (Alberecht). Heavy cloud coverage made for difficult navigation and forced many of
the paratroopers to jump blind . This resulted in them being scattered over a 100 square mile
radius. Thirty five percent of these soldiers landed at their designated drop point, while many
others died when they landed in fields flooded by the Germans. Despite all of this, the remaining
troops were able to secure their intended positions (Dry). The next phase in the Battle of Normandy
was the storming of the beaches. A fleet of 4,000 ships carrying 176,000 men set sail. The chosen
landing area was east of the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy along the beaches.

Taking a Look at Islam and Judaims
Introduction Apart from Christianity, Islam and Judaism are two of the most influential religions in
the world, particularly in the Middle East. Although Judaism is not as large as Islam, it has
impacted on the world in a profound manner. While it s quite evident that both Islam and Judaism
appear to be having conflicting differences in terms of their doctrines, they are both know as
Abrahamic religionsbecause they share a common origin in the Middle East through Abraham in
the Hebrew Bible. Nevertheless, Judaismis often considered to be the oldest of all the Abrahamic
religions. Most ethnographers have been more interested in understanding on how the convictions
between the two religions compare, based on their religious believes about God, afterlife, the
universe and people. This can be attributed to the fact that the conflict between Islamand Judaism
has been viewed as a result of irreconcilable clash of religious doctrines. But, I do not believe that
this is really the case. This essay will focus on drawing a comparison between Judaism and Islam
so as to establish the similarities and differences that exist between them. The comparison will then
be used to support my opinion based on the ides that these religions can live together peacefully and
that they are not destined for perpetual conflict.
Similarities
There are several doctrines and historical events that can be linked to the two religions. Both Islam
and Judaism believe in the existence of one creator

Theme Of Timshel By John Steinbeck
It is difficult to decipher the good and the evil that lives within people. John Steinbeck provokes
both virtues in the East of Eden, taking place in Salinas Valley, California in the 1900 s. The theme
that is subtly circling all over the book is the meaning of the word timshel which revolves around
the characters Cathy, Adam, and Caleb.
To begin with, a central theme in the story is the Hebrew word timshel. There are several
philosophical analyses involving this word throughout the book. Steinbeck brought it up through
the character Lee as he explained that the American Standard translation orders men to triumph over
sin...The King James translation makes a promise in thou shalt, meaning that men will surely
triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word timshel Thou mayest that gives a choice (303).
This quote means that man can freely choose to be kind or evil which continuously connects both
Adam Trask and Caleb Trask throughout the book.
An example in the book is when Adam was dealing with his depression. Unfortunately, Adam had
not embraced the responsibility and role of fatherhood, resulting in disregarding his sons entirely,
much like his own father had. That vile feeling in Adam left him with the mindset that he would
never better. When he finally brought his mind back on track and started caring more about his
son s interests, it showed in the character s development as he let go of his father s ways and
became his own man.
Continuing the theme

One Is Truth By Emerson Rhetorical Analysis
Emerson s essay on friendship is one of the most remembered and highly respected essays dating
back to the 19th century. The information given in the essay is extremely valuable and has helped
to explain the universal truth that is friendship. Emerson s essay on friendship is his way of
delineating the paths of coherence. These parts fall into two distinct kinds. The first is the
consistent enunciation of a view which is the master tone that Emerson uses from essay to essay
while the second is the internal linking of the views in the essay. Some scholars have argued that
Emerson s views on friendshipare strange and radical while others feel that his logic is sound and

No doubt Emerson gives friendship at a high value. However, He gives the true definition of
friendship, At the entrance of a second person, hypocrisy begins. We parry and fend the approach
of our fellow man by compliments, by gossip, by amusements, by affairs. We cover up our
thought from him under a hundred folds. In addition, Emerson uses sound understanding and
logic to present his view of friendship. In one way that he does this is by his statement, emotions
of benevolence and complacency which apperceived towards others. Emerson s words show the
remarks either abstract or generalized, in regards to friendship. This is noticed when Emerson s
words move away from the abstract and generalized remarks on his experience with friendship.
However, A person seeks the company of a stranger when they believe that the stranger will give or
inspire something that we currently lack, Emerson stated
Though from the essay, it turns out that Emerson does not have much to say about friendship, he
states that the stranger who Emerson refers to as a friend awakens a desire for throbbing of the
heart and the communications of the soul. Furthermore, Emerson goes on to say that despite of
this, sometimes friends disappoint others in relationships. He also states that friendship brings
about doubt which is only justified by the course of our

Nebraska State Budget
Assignment 4.2
Abstract
The State of Nebraska has a biennium budget that is set from 2013 all the way to 2015.
Knowing what is in your budget and how to properly gauge what will be needed for the coming
two years in each department is an important aspect to a successful budget. The person in charge
of the budget for each department needs to know how to properly budget and respond to the
needs of the state in the most fiscal way possible. A budget is only as good as the person who is
running it. The Nebraska State budget is complex, but with the right amount of team work and
dedication, it seems to run very smoothly.

the budget will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gives a broad overview of the total estimated costs of all the areas that are being run in the state.
The appropriations that are shown in the 2012 13 current fiscal year are those adopted by 2011
regular session and were further broken down during the 2011 special session of the 102nd
legislature. The Governor s budget recommendations for FY 2013 14 expect a general fund
increase by four point nine percent over the two year period. By doing this the Governor is
exceeding the minimum reserve requirement of fourteen point eight million for the next biennium.
This type of foreshadowing is what is helping Nebraska to look at the overall big picture and to
try and stay within the state allowable budget as closely as possible. The planning even estimates
all the way into the 2015 17 biennium that would set the future growth at five percent and also
leave a General Fund balance in excess of the minimum reserve requirement (Heineman, 2013).
Revenue Generation, Expenditures, and Services The State of Nebraska does a good job of
showing what the state s budget is being spent on and to which programs the money for the state is
going. When looking at the state s budget there are several items that have been considered for the
biennium. The State of Nebraska sets its recommendations by each functional area that are broken
down into general government, agriculture, environment and natural resources, economic
development, human resources development,

The Postive Effect of Video Games on Young Children
Video games are an ever present part of almost all children s lives. Whether children play on a

children. Granic, Lobel, and Engels (2014) reported that video games are a ubiquitous part of
almost all children s and adolescents lives, with 97% playing for at least one hour per day in the
United States (p.1). Currently, researchers have found that the vast majority of studies have been

violence, addiction, and lack of social skills. However, as parents it is our duty to monitor young
children s choices to ensure that they are playing games that are developmentally appropriate for
them. This essay will examine the research that supports the effectiveness of video games in
enhancing children s learningand focusing on cognitive, literacy, and social development.
In the last decade, the manner in which video games have been generated has radically been
transformed. This alteration allowed a small but significant body of research to transpire. Some
parents, principals, educators, and researchers believe that video games enhance children s learning.
On the other hand, others believe video games destroy the lives of young children. Nevertheless,
many agree that this matter is significant and

2 sgRNAs target Nr0b1 gene (Nuclear Receptor Subfamily 0 Group B Member 1), 2 sgRNAs target
Ppar Оі gene (Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor Gamma) and 1 sgRNA targets Rag1
gene (Recombination Activating Gene 1). Cas9 mRNA was synthesized by in vitro transcription
of pST1374 N NLS flag linker Cas9 vector. The RNA mixture was injected into one cell embryos of
Macaca fascicularis.
c. The results were analyzed by 3 steps. First of all, specific regions of the genes were PCR
amplified and visualized on the gel. Secondy, T7EN1 cleavage assay were used to detect
sgRNA:Cas9 mediated on target cleavage of specific genes. Finally, PCR amplified regions were
cloned and sequenced to determine the deletions or insertions.
Question 3
Regarding the findings of this study, writers have infered that Cas9 mRNA and sgRNA mediated
complex was successful in modification of Ppar Оі and Rag1 genes without creating any off target
effects in Macaca fascicularis. T7EN1 cleavage assay displayed the cleavage products of these two
genes in placenta, umbilical cord and ear punch tissues in founders and the genetic modifications
were confirmed by DNA sequencing of PCR products. Furthermore, no detectable off target
effects were found in baby monkeys. On the other hand, T7EN1 cleavage assay result of Nr0b1
gene was negative in umbilical cord in other words no cleavage band was obtained. Finally,
different SNPs which were very close to Rag1 sgRNA target site were compared between

Critique of Title IX
What if you were told that a law was made to remove discrimination of sexes in sports and
education, or that man and woman are both given equal opportunities as far as an athletic or
educational career? Would you then agree or disagree with the ideology that both sexes are still
treated different even though this law was created and the opportunities that were promised aren t
precisely indistinguishable? Title IX does not accurately protect sexual discrimination; it doesn t
give equal opportunities, and is unjust as far as benefits between maleand femalesports. Although
this law allows men and women to participate in the same sports and educational fields it does not

school had to add more women sports which cost more money to the school, or choose to cancel
some of the schools male sports. Subsequently, the schools had to do what was best for the
school and to avoid going into debt for sports the male sports had to be put on the burner. Many
schools cut male wrestling, track and field, tennis, and gymnastics teams instead of adding
women sports. Jason Lewis a gymnasts whose team was eliminated said that the number of men

ones that don t draw crowds or make money, and investing more and more in just one sport
football. The Fact that just twenty three years ago, there was 107 men s gymnastics teams in this

The View of Absolute Monarchies
The View of Absolute Monarchies
The extent to which rulers and their subjects viewed the role of an absolute monarch was
different. The time of this political issue on absolute monarchies was around the 1600s. There
were people for the absolute monarchies, people with their own monarchies and people against
monarchies. Each one had there own idea for what the role of the monarchy was the people
against it thought it was oppressive the people for it thought it was because people couldn t rule
on their own and the rulers viewed it as a chance to gain more power.
There were people in this time that did not like the idea of an absolute monarchy because they
were being oppressed. An example of this would be The Twelve Articles a... Show more content on

They like the idea because they get more power than if they had a constitutional monarchy. King
James the 6th of Scotland (Doc 4) says that the parliament is ruled by the king and doesn t do
anything at all and shouldn t. This is an argument showing that he doesn t want parliament to
have power therefore giving him more power under the monarchy. He also talks a little bit about
how people need him to make laws, which is also an argument for this type of monarchy. This
document is reliable because the information comes from a book written by James himself. His
POV is of a king and he just wants more power. Catherine the Great empress of Russia (Doc 8)
wrote an instruction to the Legislative Commission of 1767. The legislative commission is a
group of representatives who made new laws. The laws that Catherine wanted passed were rule
that the sovereign was absolute and the Extent of Dominion requires an absolute power to be
vested in that person who rules it. This shows that she wanted an absolute monarchy in Russia
and that she also talks about how the absolute monarchy is not to take away peoples natural
liberties but to correct their actions to obtain the supreme good. She says a man may do whatever
he wants but she is still in favor of an absolute monarchy very much so but instead for power she
wants it because humans cannot rule themselves and because she wants power. The last example of
this would be Louis 14th king of France

Reasons For Delaying Summer Born Children
In England and a significant number of other countries, class structure in the education system
means the cohort of children placed in a year group together could differ greatly in age. Children
born in the summer months can be up to nearly a year younger than their autumn born counterparts.
At aged four, this potential year significantly compromises a fraction of the children s lives and
therefore means summerborn children may be behind in terms of development hindering their
academic ability in comparison to their older counterparts. Whilst there is ongoing research into the
topic, presently there are many conflicting views on whether delaying summer born children s
entrance to primary schoolwould be beneficial stemming from the belief that they are
disadvantaged. Whilst there is evidence to prove that they perform consistently worse academically
on tests (Daniels et al., 2000), there are also findings to suggest that it is not their month of birth
that leads to potential shortcomings in terms of academic achievement.
Research into academic capability crucially highlights the inequalities between children with a
summer birthday and their older, autumn born peers, which supports the argument that summer born
children should delay their year of entrance to primary school. Evidence shows that autumn born
children generally perform better academically in comparison to their younger spring born
counterparts (born January to April) who in turn outperform summer born children

Nascar s Old Guard For A New Generation Of Young Turks
On March 8, 1936, a collection of drivers gathered at Daytona Beach, Florida. Throughout the
race, the heavier cars got bogged down in the sand, while the lightweight Fords navigated the ruts
of the course, eventually claiming the top 6 finishes for the race. They also like the city lost their
interest in motor sports promotion. The drivers brought coupes, hardtops, convertibles, and sports
cars to compete in an event to determine the fastest cars, and best drivers. Haugdahl and France
had become very good friends and were not about to give up. In May 2007, NNS director Joe
Balash confirmed that NASCARwas exploring options to deal with the Buschwhacker

more than 180 different types of ectodermal dysplasia exist. Sonic Hedgehog is a protein that plays
a role in cell growth, cell specialization, and shape of physical state. This protein is important in
the embryonic development. Sonic Hedgehog is also involved in a genetic condition called
polydactyly. Polydactyly can be passed down from family to family. This trait involves a genethat
can cause several variations like for example, an extra finger . Having an extra finger can

A New Perception of Eliza Essay
A New Perception of Eliza
From times to times, back in the old days, women were seen as powerless and non respected
figures in the society where authorities and prestige were dominated by men. Glimpses of gender
inequality during the early 20th century in London were introduced through Pygmalion by George
Bernard Shaw. The story revolves around Henry Higgins, a renowned professor of phonetics, who
makes a bet with his friend, Colonel Pickering, that he can successfully transform Eliza Doolittle
into a refined lady by teaching her etiquettes, and impeccable speech. In the book Pygmalion, the
author well portrays a smart, strong and independent, quite feisty young British woman through
Eliza, a Cockney flower girl.

a life of Eliza fetching Higgins s slippers when she can enjoy a much better one.
Further in the book, it s shown that Eliza Doolittle is certainly not someone to be ignored. When
Higgins and Pickering seem to be carried away from their small experiment , Eliza doesn t stand
there and does nothing, she voices her thoughts. Well, here I am ready to pay him not asking

Eliza is a smart lady who refuses to let other stumble over her. Certainly, Eliza won t back down as

a result, with her extremely strong characters and ideologies, Eliza leaves Higgins for good along
with her self respect and dignity.

The Relationship between Academic Obstacles and Facilitators
University students make up a large population in most countries and may be the most important
individual s part of a society; as they constitute of future professionals and degree obtainers. The
life of a student is very different to other age groups and may prove to be extremely stressful and
pressurised as the importance to having a profession, especially in South Africa, is heightened
because of financial pressure and recessions. It has been argued and researched that the well being
of a studentis important for their academic performance, therefore their health needs to be taken
into context and maintained to ensure peak performance. The purpose of this essay is to assess the
relationship between academic obstacles and facilitators and how they hinder or promote academic
performance, as well as how it may affect the well being of the student.
When students are going through a stressful period in their studies, such as exam time or when
assignments are due, they often feel exhausted and sometimes unable to manage their time properly
in order to get their work done on time, or simply not being able to cope with the nature of the
work. It is argued that students who are experiencing emotional exhaustion will perform poorly in
their studies (Salanova, Schaufeli, Martinez Breso, 2008). This is because students who feel
exhausted will experience feelings of demotivation, irritability, detachment and cynicism towards
their work. While those who have positive feelings

A Sorority Is A Subculture Or A Segment Of Society s...
All around the world sororities are a subculture or a segment of society s population on most
college campuses (Macionis 64). These sororities have their own language, norms, beliefs, and
values. Most college campuses have many charters or different sororities to choose from when a
student wants to pledge a sorority. On the Saint Francis University campus, there are seven
sororities that a female student can belong to. Each sorority has a different philanthropy which
is a foundation that the sorority stands behind. For example Delta Phi Epsilon stands behind the
Educational Foundation, this foundation helps women get the education that they deserve.
Sororities are known for creating a bond between girls that last a life time. The sororities have their
own language, they use words like pledge, bid, big, little, active, lavaliere, letters, and philanthropy.
A pledge is a person who accepts a bid, and a bid is an invitation to a specific chapter at their school
(Nakagoshi 1). When a female student wants to pledge a sorority they interview for a bid and the
sorority decides if they want to have the new student pledge or not. If the pledge gets the bid then
the student gets a big, a big is an older girl who has been part of the sorority for a year of more, and
the big is like a big sister they are supposed to care of their little or new pledge (Nakagoshi 1). An

Economic and Social Effects of Prohibition Essay example
Economic and Social Effects of Prohibition
There are many ways in which prohibition of alcohol consumption in the United States of
America, damaged the very economic and social aspects of American culture, that it was designed
to heal.
Prohibition did not achieve its goals. Instead, it added to the problems it was intended to solve. On
16th January 1920, one of the most common personal habits and customs of American society came
to a halt. The eighteenth amendment was implemented, making all importing, exporting,
transporting, selling and manufacturing of intoxicating liquors absolutely prohibited. This law was
created in the hope of achieving the reduction of alcohol consumption, which in turn would reduce:
crime, poverty, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this new law, a new social problem arose. Seldom has law been more flagrantly
violated. Not only did Americans continue to manufacture, barter, and possess alcohol; they drank
more of it. Americans who supported prohibition, argued that if drinking alcohol was illegal, the
public would recognize and respect the law, and in turn, would give it up. During the start of
prohibition, it appeared as though it was working. But, what was really going on, was that since
the transportation and production was not allowed, bootleggers had to find ways to do it without
being caught. The price of beer rose, because it had to be transported in large barrels, which was
more difficult. As a result, people started drinking more potent hard liquor. It took less to get drunk,
therefore it was easier to transport, thus, it was cheaper. Americans would drink this potent liquor
and get drunk a lot faster, for less money. As a downfall, however, the liquor had no standards.
The rate of alcohol related deaths due to poisoning drastically increased from 1,064 in 1920, to
4,154 in 1925.
One of the biggest outcomes of prohibition was the development of organized crime.
Because liquor was no longer legally available, the public turned to gangsters who took on the
bootlegging industry and supplied them with liquor. Because the industry was so immensely
profitable, more gangs participated. As a result of the money involved in the bootlegging industry,
there was much

Louis XVI, the last monarch of France, who had fallen prey to the destruction that power can
bring. Listeners get a memoir of this king who went from being a the pillar of society to a man
whose legacy was tarnished by corruption. Absolute power is able to corrupt even the noblest of
hearts and, through the use of metaphor, Coldplay has shown the regression of a king who s
was thought to have everything a man wants. The narrator is a wealthy king who is used to
ruling over others. In the first line of the song Being apart of the monarch, he was born into a
life of luxury, never wanting for anything. In the line One minute I held the key we see that he
once was able to walk with his head held high, holding all the power to do with as he wished. He

Nonviolent Protest
Broken windows, car alarms, smoke in the air, the frantic screams of those who are attacked by
the raids of police officers are what come with the world of violent protest. Violent protest to a
variety of people may lead to a conclusion, but not for all of them. With nonviolent protest our
words are used as our weapons. We speak with the freedom of the first amendment, the right to civil
disobedienceand the satisfaction that we solved our issues in a justifiable manner. All around the
globe we crave the immediate satisfaction of emotional rebellion regardless of the impact, which is
why nonviolent protestis more effective than violent protest.

All Men Are Created Equal Research Paper
Culture and ethnic groups have many strict values and principles when it comes to war. Most ethnic
groups tend to focus on themselves rather than taking into account the international issues that are
occurring. With the advancement of society, these groups often stand by their morals instead of
trying to engage in new ones and accepting the worldwide conflicts. More often than not, ethnic
groups are discriminated against even after the rise of the concept All men are created equal (The
Declaration of Independence). Yet, this idea is neglected especially in regards to social status and
race. These people have different intentions and repeatedly are being encouraged to blend into
American society and leave their values behind. In the past, equality and individual rights were
portrayed in an extremely different matter which impacted people s views on freedom today.
In today s generation, converging viewpoints make it difficult for an individual to speak their own
mind without prejudice. Politics have a huge range of diverse opinions; however, international
affairs need to be decided by a nation as a whole. In the past, politics led to rivalry between the
north and the south because of distinct aspects of slavery and land disputes. Constitutional

Piaget Vs Vygotsky
From the beginning of time and still to present day, people have always been curious as to how we
develop from little tiny helpless humans into the fully functioning members of society. Two
psychologists, Piaget and Vygotsky, developed different theories about cognitive and language
development. Piaget s theory says that children try to understand the world around them in
different phases as they grow. As children, they want to make sense of everything that is going on
around them. Piaget says that there are four stages of cognitive development that we go through as
we age; sensory motor period, pre operational period, concrete operational period, and finally the
formal operational theory. According to Piaget, we should be through all of these... Show more

The first one being that his research was biased. He only used a very small sample of children to
complete the study, and he also used his own kids in his experiments (Cherry, 2017). Piaget also
did not take into account what children are capable of. He often asked the children too difficult
of questions and/or made them very confusing for children to understand. Piaget also did not
realize that many people never reach the final stage (formal operational period), he stated that we
should all reach that stage between age 11 and adulthood (Kail, 2016). He also thought that the
social environment and culture that someone is raised in did not affect the cognitive and language
development of a child, this is a big weakness since he did not explore all options for why we
develop the way we do. Piaget was also flawed in thinking that language comes after thought, when
most other psychologists think development is a combination of both. Piaget said that developing
thought was more important than developing language, which caused his findings to be skewed
and biased (McLeod,

A Career In Paleontology
The career I am writing about is paleontology. Paleontology has many different parts to it such as
the skills and traits you need. There is also a lot of training you have to go through and courses
you have to take. For example, did you know that it could be up to 7 years ( schooling and
training included) or more before you are actually on the field? You also need to be experienced
in a lot of subjects and techniques for excavation and fieldwork. Those are some of the many parts
of paleontology that I will be going into more detail later. Like I said before there are many parts in
paleontology including training. Responsibilities, conditions, and the different fields you can work
in are a big part of training. Time managementis a big responsibility in this career. You could be
gone on an excavation for a long time depending where the excavation is. It can be as far as
other countries! Another responsibility is being prepared for the harsh conditions you might
face on your excavations. Lastly, the different fields/ parts of this career are big responsibilities
because you need to know what you have to do and when you need to do it. You also need a ton of
training and time in school. For example, a four year college course in biology is required and even

First and foremost, these sports organizations have found sponsorship necessary as a means of
offsetting rising costs and expanding promotional opportunities (Irwin, Sutton, McCarthy, 2008,

consider. Is the sponsorship the right match for the demographic of the community? Would you
want your organization to partner with a company that had no established business in the area?
Would that make much sense for the company trying to establish a sponsorship either? Years ago,
sponsorships did not have as much logic behind them, however, today to be determined successful,
they need to pay dividends for both companies. According to Irwin, Sutton, McCarthy,

The Battle Of The Somme And Waterloo
Sarah Cooper
HIST 101 001

In The Face of Battle, John Keegan analyzed the experiences of the individuals involved in the
battles of the Somme and Waterloo; he thoroughly examined the advancements of industrialization
in warfare and battle strategy between 1815 and 1916. The industrialization of modern warfare
during the battle of the Somme, while progressive, was very much still in its experimental stages.
While the inventions during this time period were later evolved into much more useful products, it
seems as though the organized warfare in Waterloo was much more effective; the soldier s mediocre
training for the Somme was obvious in the chaotic events that occurred. While each battle was
disastrous in their own ways, industrialization certainly improved means of warfare and the
experience that the soldiers had.
The warfare in Waterloo consisted primarily of rifles, swords, cavalry, and artillery; these weapons
were most effective close range which resulted in the French and British being in close proximity to
one another. With immense amounts of training, a variety of battle tactics and formations, the
square was ultimately the most effective. However, despite being located a short distance away
from the enemy, thick, black smoke obstructed the soldiers vision on both sides of the battlefield,
creating a less than optimal battle conditions. Due to the lack of effectiveness of their weapons,
success in Waterloo often depended on the experience of the

A Native Conformation Of Protein And Aggregation Of Proteins
A native conformation of protein is only marginally stable than unfolded states, and most of
proteins are prone to aggregate in liquid state to form non native supra structures. The loss of
unique globular structures and aggregation of proteins are problematic in biopharmaceutical
formulations due to the reduction of therapeutic potency and the possibility of inducing undesired
immune responses[1]. For several decades, it has been pursued to develop formulation methods of
preserving the proteinstability. One of effective way to improve protein stability is mixing
cosolvents in protein water system[2, 3]. The present of excipient molecules such as salts,
carbohydrates, amino acids, and surfactants change the equilibrium of protein denaturation and
aggregation[4 10]. A great interest has been raised in understanding of the effects of excipients on
proteins in an effort to find ideal formulation recipes[11].
One of fundamental concept in addressing the impact of excipients on proteins is their preferential
interactions in the system[12 16]. The interactions of additives can be attractive or repellent to
proteins, resulting the concentration of cosolvents in the local domain near proteins differs from
that in the bulk solution. Such a discrete population of cosolvents influences the thermodynamic
properties of the protein inducing a significant change in conformational or colloidal stability. A key
parameter to quantify the preferential behavior of excipients is the

Over Sharer s dramatic meaning is that social media allows adolescents to wear a mask and create
a different persona, this is successfully shown throughout multiple scenes. Using a series of

Since the boys were children, the audience can see the differences with their families, the way they
are treated by the people around them and indeed their lives.
Mickey is the youngest of a large family and is treated as such. His mother loves him but is
always weary of where Mickey goes to play incase he gets too close to the Lyons house. Mickey
s older brother Sammy ten years old but thinks that he is far more superior than Mickey even
though there is only three years between them. The audience can see this as Mickey tells his
mother В‘Our Sammy s robbed me other gun an that was me best one. Why does he rob things

how wealthy his family is. At the beginning of the play, Mrs Lyons asks for

Reflection Of The Bible
Throughout the bible, and reading it once more by Marcus Borg, a common idea as it relates to a
religious experience, is that the Bible is a human product. Throughout chapter two, Borg
continuously describes the Bible as being a product of humans. He explains on page 22 that he sees
scripture through the lens of the Biblebeing a human product, meaning that it is the product of two
ancient communities (22). He believed that what the Bible explains things to be are words from the
communities of ancient Israel and the early Christian movement. We cannot talk about God(or
anything else) except with the words, symbols, stories, concepts, and categories known to us, for
they are the only language we have , made me think about the idea that... Show more content on

Borg believes that if you do not believe that the bible is either totally a divine or totally a human
product, then it compounds the confusion (26).
He believes that if we consider the bible both a divine and human product then we would be
harder to separate the divine aspects from the human. I would have to agree with Borg s stance.
For example, he presented his stance by using the Ten Commandments. People who believed that
both the bible is a divine and human product would believe that it came from God in that they are
his laws, however, the Commandments are written from a male s perspective. Being that they are
written from a male perspective, it presents the idea that they are human made. But, I do not agree
with the questions Borg stated towards the end of the section of human products. Borg believes that
we should not ask What is God saying? but rather ask, What is the ancient author or community
saying (28)?
Borg explains a term, precritical naivete, as being an early childhood state in which we listen to
whatever a significant authority figure tells us is true and untrue. He uses the story of Jesus birth
and how he took the facts that he gathered from the narrative told during Christmas for granted.
Like Borg, I never thought to think about how much of the stories that were told to me during
childhood, as narratives versus factual information.
Borg also explains post critical

  • 2. The Reform And Implementation Of A New Defined Benefit... INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. A new 1st pillar earnings related defined benefit scheme named Jaminan Pensiun (JPN) was officially put into place on July 1st. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar program, the implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested by the World Bank (World Bank, 2008). In this paper, the adequacy, sustainability, predictability, and robustness of Indonesia s pension scheme will be evaluated in comparison to other countries with similar pension schemes. The focus will mostly be on the new program JPN, and to a lesser extent, the old Jamsostek program Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT). DB AND DC SCHEMES Indonesia has both of these schemes implemented in the pension system. Both schemes cover only the formal sector. A reform was made so that the minimum contributory period was 10 years and a large part of the balance cannot be withdrawn until participants reach retirement age. Most individuals do not understand the actuarial component in a DC scheme. Early contributions in the accumulation period matters more compared to the latter ones. Most Individuals do not know the power of compound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The country built and invented more supplies and materials than anyone had thought possible. Even though, this time in history seemed progressive on many fronts, it was known as the Gilded Age . The Gilded Agewas a three decade time in America that involved an expanding economy and a useless government. The thought of going to an American city, getting a job, and getting paid was ideal to most outsiders. The problem was, once they arrived and found a job, it was not as wonderful as it seemed . The city people were no longer accepting of the foreigners and nativism began. Nativism is protecting the interests of native born people against the interests of immigrants. Most Americans were afraid of the immigrants and the power they had on the economy, so they started to attack the immigrants, both physically and socially. Many political cartoons were published supporting anti immigration and violence was geared towards the newcomers (Appleby 310). There is no doubt the abundant numbers of immigrants created issues amongst the American people. Immigration was an issue that needed attention. In attempt to hinder the incoming population, the Chinese Exclusion Act started in 1882. The act prevented all people of Chinese origin to move to America. It also prevented any Chinese person already living in America to gain citizenship, if they had not already (310). The government also began to put regulations and restrictions on who could enter the U.S. In 1907 the Immigration Commission was established. This department only had to deal with immigration and immigration laws. They prevented unskilled immigrants and criminals from entering the U.S. Their job was also to deport any immigrants that had committed a crime (America and Immigration). This finding confirms the positive association between cell phone addiction and poor performance in school. In schools, it was concluded that this overuse of cellphones was positively connected with deficient school performance in teens with an average age of 15.7 years old (Gallimberti, et. al 360). Summary Of The Celebrated Jumping Frog I picked The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County , because I thought it looks interesting from reading my classmate Mini s thoughts on Discussion Forum Unit 5. I felt a little out of sorts after reading The Bet , but I knew The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County was the story with same bet theme and I tried to read it for a change. The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County has an as told to framework. A talkative man named Simon Wheeler relates to Mark Twain (the narrator) the story of a gambler named Jim Smiley and the amazing animals Smiley used in his schemes (Wilson, 1997, p18). Jim Smiley made a bet with the stranger. He offered to bet forty dollars that Dan l Webster (frog) could outjump any frog in Calaveras County. But the stranger is a con artist, he spooned buckshot into Dan l Webster s mouth that he is unable to jump. Consequently, Jim Smiley had lost the wager. He found out soon after, but it was too late. I didn t like it or hate this story at first. This was quite a humorous story, but I hate racing between animals by constraint. After that, I knew this story provided relevant and incisive commentary about ninteenth century American society (Wilson). • 13. Physiology Of The Ear Introduction The ear is a combination of different organs and body parts that in conjunction allow us to hear. It is a sensitive piece of anatomy that can easily be abused, different frequencies at certain amplitudes through out our audible and inaudible ranges can slowly or very quickly damage our ability to perceive audio, even through something as simple as listening to your headphones mildly to loud. This damage can be present in many different forms each with variable extremities. Physiology of the Ear The ears previously mentioned are a collaboration of different very small and delicate organs and body parts. The first and most recognisable part of the ear is the only visible section, the Auricle, Pinna or outer ear, this works as the receptor for audio and works quite on the contrary to the horn of a gramophone, it s larger surface area allows for the capturing of sound waves and then funnels the vibrations in through the ear cannel to the other parts of the ear (Mackenna and Callander, 1997). The next piece of anatomy to receive the acquired sound waves is the tympanic membrane or the eardrum, this is stretched indirectly across the end of the ear canal, it operates as the main sound receptacle, when sound waves hit it s surface it vibrates, which then causes the ossicles; the combination of the malleus, stapes and the incus, located and attached to the eardrum transmits the sound to the vestibular window, two muscles then modulate the ... Tudor governments were relatively successful in dealing with the problem of rebellion, although this was more effective towards the end of the period than at the beginning shown through the decline in rebellion after 1549: only 5 English rebellions occurred as opposed to 10 before 1549. Over the course of the Tudor period the main aims of rebellions were only fully achieved in the rebellions of 1525, the Amicable Grant and 1553. In addition to this the reforms made to local government, policies directly implemented by central government and the effects of trials and retribution, such as Henry VII s concessions made to the late 15th century pretenders, Lambert ... In Ireland, rival clan chiefs were offered rewards, pardons and promises in return for helping to maintain English rule, Elizabeth in particular in 1558 for example, invited rebel leader Shane O Neill to London where she recognised him as Earl of Tyrone. A similar policy of conciliatory politics can be observed under Edward VI and Henry VIII, who in response to the Pilgrimage of Grace sent the Duke of Northumberland to bargain with rebel leaders; Robert Aske was even invited to the palace and treated with dignity on Christmas day 1536. Protector Somerset, operating on Edward s behalf, sent Peter Carew to persude the Prayer Book rebels to disperse in 1549, arguably with lesser success considering his heavy protestant agenda, conciliatory politics is also shown to be used to lesser success through Henry VII s decision to replace members of the leading clan, the Geraldines, with loyal English officials actually resulted in increased disorder from 1534 1603 and attempts by rival Irish clans to seize power. The invasion ultimately took place on June 6th, 1944 (D Day) (Cohen). The first troops deployed into battle were paratroopers. Over thirteen thousand U.S. paratroopers were dropped by an armada of C 47s behind German lines before dawn. Their mission was to seize bridges, disrupt communications, and prevent German soldiers from reinforcing the Normandy beaches as the Allied assault hit the coastline (Alberecht). Heavy cloud coverage made for difficult navigation and forced many of the paratroopers to jump blind . This resulted in them being scattered over a 100 square mile radius. Thirty five percent of these soldiers landed at their designated drop point, while many others died when they landed in fields flooded by the Germans. Despite all of this, the remaining troops were able to secure their intended positions (Dry). The next phase in the Battle of Normandy was the storming of the beaches. Although Judaism is not as large as Islam, it has impacted on the world in a profound manner. While it s quite evident that both Islam and Judaism appear to be having conflicting differences in terms of their doctrines, they are both know as Abrahamic religionsbecause they share a common origin in the Middle East through Abraham in the Hebrew Bible. Nevertheless, Judaismis often considered to be the oldest of all the Abrahamic religions. Most ethnographers have been more interested in understanding on how the convictions between the two religions compare, based on their religious believes about God, afterlife, the universe and people. This can be attributed to the fact that the conflict between Islamand Judaism has been viewed as a result of irreconcilable clash of religious doctrines. But, I do not believe that this is really the case. This essay will focus on drawing a comparison between Judaism and Islam so as to establish the similarities and differences that exist between them. The comparison will then be used to support my opinion based on the ides that these religions can live together peacefully and that they are not destined for perpetual conflict. John Steinbeck provokes both virtues in the East of Eden, taking place in Salinas Valley, California in the 1900 s. The theme that is subtly circling all over the book is the meaning of the word timshel which revolves around the characters Cathy, Adam, and Caleb. To begin with, a central theme in the story is the Hebrew word timshel. There are several philosophical analyses involving this word throughout the book. Steinbeck brought it up through the character Lee as he explained that the American Standard translation orders men to triumph over sin...The King James translation makes a promise in thou shalt, meaning that men will surely triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word timshel Thou mayest that gives a choice (303). This quote means that man can freely choose to be kind or evil which continuously connects both Adam Trask and Caleb Trask throughout the book. An example in the book is when Adam was dealing with his depression. Unfortunately, Adam had not embraced the responsibility and role of fatherhood, resulting in disregarding his sons entirely, much like his own father had. That vile feeling in Adam left him with the mindset that he would never better. When he finally brought his mind back on track and started caring more about his son s interests, it showed in the character s development as he let go of his father s ways and became his own man. Reasons For Delaying Summer Born Children In England and a significant number of other countries, class structure in the education system means the cohort of children placed in a year group together could differ greatly in age. Children born in the summer months can be up to nearly a year younger than their autumn born counterparts. At aged four, this potential year significantly compromises a fraction of the children s lives and therefore means summerborn children may be behind in terms of development hindering their academic ability in comparison to their older counterparts. Whilst there is ongoing research into the topic, presently there are many conflicting views on whether delaying summer born children s entrance to primary schoolwould be beneficial stemming from the belief that they are disadvantaged. Whilst there is evidence to prove that they perform consistently worse academically on tests (Daniels et al., 2000), there are also findings to suggest that it is not their month of birth that leads to potential shortcomings in terms of academic achievement. Research into academic capability crucially highlights the inequalities between children with a summer birthday and their older, autumn born peers, which supports the argument that summer born children should delay their year of entrance to primary school. Economic and Social Effects of Prohibition Essay example Economic and Social Effects of Prohibition There are many ways in which prohibition of alcohol consumption in the United States of America, damaged the very economic and social aspects of American culture, that it was designed to heal. Prohibition did not achieve its goals. Instead, it added to the problems it was intended to solve. On 16th January 1920, one of the most common personal habits and customs of American society came to a halt. As a result of this new law, a new social problem arose. Seldom has law been more flagrantly violated. Not only did Americans continue to manufacture, barter, and possess alcohol; they drank more of it. Americans who supported prohibition, argued that if drinking alcohol was illegal, the public would recognize and respect the law, and in turn, would give it up. During the start of prohibition, it appeared as though it was working. But, what was really going on, was that since the transportation and production was not allowed, bootleggers had to find ways to do it without being caught. The price of beer rose, because it had to be transported in large barrels, which was more difficult. As a result, people started drinking more potent hard liquor. It took less to get drunk, therefore it was easier to transport, thus, it was cheaper. Americans would drink this potent liquor and get drunk a lot faster, for less money. As a downfall, however, the liquor had no standards. The rate of alcohol related deaths due to poisoning drastically increased from 1,064 in 1920, to 4,154 in 1925. One of the biggest outcomes of prohibition was the development of organized crime. Because liquor was no longer legally available, the public turned to gangsters who took on the bootlegging industry and supplied them with liquor. Because the industry was so immensely profitable, more gangs participated. As a result of the money involved in the bootlegging industry, there was much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The industrialization of modern warfare during the battle of the Somme, while progressive, was very much still in its experimental stages. While the inventions during this time period were later evolved into much more useful products, it seems as though the organized warfare in Waterloo was much more effective; the soldier s mediocre training for the Somme was obvious in the chaotic events that occurred. While each battle was disastrous in their own ways, industrialization certainly improved means of warfare and the experience that the soldiers had. The warfare in Waterloo consisted primarily of rifles, swords, cavalry, and artillery; these weapons were most effective close range which resulted in the French and British being in close proximity to one another. With immense amounts of training, a variety of battle tactics and formations, the square was ultimately the most effective. A Native Conformation Of Protein And Aggregation Of Proteins A native conformation of protein is only marginally stable than unfolded states, and most of proteins are prone to aggregate in liquid state to form non native supra structures. The loss of unique globular structures and aggregation of proteins are problematic in biopharmaceutical formulations due to the reduction of therapeutic potency and the possibility of inducing undesired immune responses[1]. For several decades, it has been pursued to develop formulation methods of preserving the proteinstability. One of effective way to improve protein stability is mixing cosolvents in protein water system[2, 3]. The present of excipient molecules such as salts, carbohydrates, amino acids, and surfactants change the equilibrium of protein denaturation and aggregation[4 10]. A great interest has been raised in understanding of the effects of excipients on proteins in an effort to find ideal formulation recipes[11]. One of fundamental concept in addressing the impact of excipients on proteins is their preferential interactions in the system[12 16]. The interactions of additives can be attractive or repellent to proteins, resulting the concentration of cosolvents in the local domain near proteins differs from that in the bulk solution. Such a discrete population of cosolvents influences the thermodynamic properties of the protein inducing a significant change in conformational or colloidal stability. A key parameter to quantify the preferential behavior of excipients is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Port Scanner, IP Resolver and Client Server using Socket Programming in Python Project Report [EE281] By: Shekhar Agrawal Shaunak Deshmukh Tejas Nikam Preyansh Shah Prof. Balaji Venkatraman, Project Advisor 12/2014 ABSTRACT By [Shekhar Agrawal, Shaunak Deshmukh, Tejas Nikam, Preyansh Shah] Our aim is to get hands on experience in Python. We have used Socket Programming in Python to implement a Port Scanner and an IP Resolver. Port scanning is an important technique to probe a host for open ports. The technique of connecting to the host on a particular port from all the available ports along with identifying the active port as well as the services running on the target to pentest it is generally referred to as port scanning. We... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To implement a chat server using socket API calls which shows a connection establishment between a client and server. 1.1.2Objectives To learn the basics of Socket programming in Python. To build a port scanner to scan the active ports on a connected host. To build an IP resolver for converting the host name into IPv4 address. To establish a connection between client and server 1.2Problem and motivation To establish a connection, there are a few basic parameters which must be known. To determine the services available on a remote machine, a port scanner is used. Verifying the security policies by network administrators and identification of running services by attackers is done using port scanning. • 55. Over Sharer Scene Analysis Shake and stir s production of, Over Sharer, is a bold, contemporary interpretation of adolescent s use of technology. It over dramatizes events which happen in every day life for teenagers who use technology. This play presents characters grappling sever repercussions with using social media. Over Sharer s dramatic meaning is that social media allows adolescents to wear a mask and create a different persona, this is successfully shown throughout multiple scenes. Using a series of dynamic digital backgrounds, use of transformational objects and clever onstage character transformation shake and stir has successfully shown the negative effects of social media. In scene 5 there was a significant shift in tempo as Michelle entered through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Brit and Sam where having a conversation on Facebook Sam was sitting and Brit was standing on opposite sides of the stage to represent the distance when chatting online. Brit s tone was very arrogant as she looks down on most people. Her online and reality personas are mostly the same. Sam when talking to Brit online can be seen becoming uneasy by his tone when responding. He continues with the conversation beating up Martin as he is able to wear that mask as he believes Martin will not find out. When Brit and Sam are kissing Brit is taking photo and she makes him repeat the photo multiple times as she wants to post it online. She wants this photo to be perfect as she wants to seem perfect so she does not lose her reputation. When they leave the room and Martin comes in Sam s conversation with Brit is read by him and he discovers what they said about him. This causes Martin to be anger and helps start building tension between them, this scene destroys the idea that online you wear a mask as sooner or later people will find out. When he sends the photos of Brit and Sam to all their contracts this ruins the persona they have built about their relationship and removes their mask. This also creates more tension between Martin, Sam and Brit as it affects Brit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This shows that Mickey is not well educated compared to Eddie. Since the boys were children, the audience can see the differences with their families, the way they are treated by the people around them and indeed their lives. Mickey is the youngest of a large family and is treated as such. His mother loves him but is always weary of where Mickey goes to play incase he gets too close to the Lyons house. Mickey s older brother Sammy ten years old but thinks that he is far more superior than Mickey even though there is only three years between them. The audience can see this as Mickey tells his mother В‘Our Sammy s robbed me other gun an that was me best one. Why does he rob things off me? In this line, we can see a lot of Mickey s character. It show s his accent and dialect which Mickey speaks in and it shows that he is young as he is В‘telling on his brother and this is an action a young child uses. • 57. Reflection Of The Bible Throughout the bible, and reading it once more by Marcus Borg, a common idea as it relates to a religious experience, is that the Bible is a human product. Throughout chapter two, Borg continuously describes the Bible as being a product of humans. He explains on page 22 that he sees scripture through the lens of the Biblebeing a human product, meaning that it is the product of two ancient communities (22). He believed that what the Bible explains things to be are words from the communities of ancient Israel and the early Christian movement. We cannot talk about God(or anything else) except with the words, symbols, stories, concepts, and categories known to us, for they are the only language we have , made me think about the idea that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Borg believes that if you do not believe that the bible is either totally a divine or totally a human product, then it compounds the confusion (26). He believes that if we consider the bible both a divine and human product then we would be harder to separate the divine aspects from the human. I would have to agree with Borg s stance. For example, he presented his stance by using the Ten Commandments. People who believed that both the bible is a divine and human product would believe that it came from God in that they are his laws, however, the Commandments are written from a male s perspective. Being that they are written from a male perspective, it presents the idea that they are human made. But, I do not agree with the questions Borg stated towards the end of the section of human products. Borg believes that we should not ask What is God saying? but rather ask, What is the ancient author or community saying (28)? Borg explains a term, precritical naivete, as being an early childhood state in which we listen to whatever a significant authority figure tells us is true and untrue. He uses the story of Jesus birth and how he took the facts that he gathered from the narrative told during Christmas for granted. Like Borg, I never thought to think about how much of the stories that were told to me during childhood, as narratives versus factual information. Borg also explains post critical ...
