The Royal Pavilion
The Royal Pavilion The Royal Pavilion was a very fashionable building in it s day. The
architecture was quite fashionable as it used the idillic style which was fashionable and the
farmhouse idea was fashionable, however the Indian style the Royal Pavilion used was
unfashionable. On the outside of the Pavilion the Prince also used the neo classical style which
was fashionable back then. Trompe l oeil was a fashionable interior design which the Prince used.
However the Prince did use chinoiserie which was unpopular then but was popular 50 60 years
before the Prince used it. The Prince then used wall to wall carpets which was unfashionable but

They could of gone to exotic places like India or China. Romantic writers turned to the
supernatural, as in the horror story by Mary Shelley Frankenstein , written in 1818. Many of the
typically Romantic characteristics appear in the poetry of the Lake Poets , William Wordsworth
got inspired by the beauty of the Lake District for his poems. He believed that he could learn more
by talking to country people and then reading books.Samual Coleridge was also a poet, he used
imagination to concentrate on the strange and fantastic. He was interested in dreams and
hallucinations. His poem Kubla Khan is supposed to be remembered for an opium dream. Romantic
painters often used bold lighting effects, dramatic painting were also popular. Constable was an
English artist famous for his landscape paintings. He tried to infuse quiet English landscapes with
profound feeling. His paintings make a dramatic use of light, colour and atmosphere. These three
people plus many of the other Romantic writers, poets and artists contributed to making living in
the county or being part of the Romantic Movement a very fashionable thing to do. In October

Advantages Of The Confederate Flag
The Confederate Flag Debate in Today s Society
The confederate flag has always been a symbol that has caused much controversy. It has been called
a symbol of pride, also a symbol of hate. Many people wonder why it is still seen in today s society
or why it causes so much tension if it is just a flag to some. The flag has bisected the country for
a long time (Kozlowska, 2014). It is a definite border between some citizens and a huge social
problem. It has caused issues for decades and still carries on racial slurs, white power, and bad
morals. Nonetheless the information provided compares both sides of the debate.
Research over whether or not the confederate flag is racist or a symbol of pride has been conducted
for many years now and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, the people who are confederate ignorant play a problem to society. Learning about the
reasons why is it a social problem gives a deeper understanding of where each individual comes
from.
Negative societal issues regarding the Confederate Flag
Now this was a common research scenario and many felt that it had no connotation to their life
or lifestyles. However, some were deeply hurt by the flag. In the article by Wallace Best he
states, Mama suggested that she had never seen the Confederate flag during her years in the
South because the community in which she lived was strictly segregated, and few people, black
or white, ever crossed the line (Best, 2001, p. 14. Surely this portrays that the flag to them was a
sign of racial segregation and power. The whites were powerful over the flag and many African
American s failed to see it. It was seen as stepping out of place for the blacks. (Best, 2001). Blacks
and whites were not cohesive in being together.
Even though the confederate flag stands by two different sides in society, actions were not taken
upon until recently. It happened when racial actions and hate became more prevalent through
society. An example that was shown through research was in South Carolina. This state struggled
with deciding to keep or remove the flag. The debate over whether the battle flag should remain
flying on public space went on for fifteen years

Bob Fosse s 1972 Cabaret
Prior to World War I, German cinema was a thriving industry being seen across Europe and North
America. Various European cultures of the 1920s embraced new ideas and artistic styles called
expressionism that focused on experimental fields of expression and looking into the future. In
Bob Fosse s 1972 musical Cabaret, the flamboyant world of art appears under the intimidating Nazi
era. This film follows the German Expressionismtrend as seen through its avant garde style and
sense of emotion. The editing techniques, featured art, and deeper meaning all testify to the German
Expressionismera.
During the 1920s, German Expressionism emerged because of the number of related artistic
movements beginning in Germany that reached an all time high in Berlin, where nightlife was
booming. These expressive movements impressed the multicultural European culture in fields such
as: architecture, painting, sculpting, and film. A crucial notion in the movement was to portray the
world in an emotionally distorted perspective to evoke different moods and participate in new
philosophies. Physical reality was not a concern during this movement. Popular story plots of the
Expressionist films often involved situations concerning madness, betrayal, and insanity, all which
can be found in Cabaret. This obscure style of filmmaking was brought to America when the Nazis
gained political power and a number of German filmmakers immigrated to Hollywood.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s One Day
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich explores the man s struggle to
survive in the trying circumstances of a Soviet Gulag. Though the novel leads the reader through
the horrific conditions in one of the work camps, it does not focus on the lack of hope that the
men feel but it focuses on the perseverance and resilience of the prisoners. Shukhov s character
shines through as a prominent example of the courage of the souls in the work camps. Further,
Alyoshka proves to never give up in the face of extreme conditions and is always around to help
his gang. Finally, Tyurin s undying devotion to leadership provides a refreshing look into the
resilience of the prisoners. Solzhenitsyn expertly constructs intricate layers... Show more content on

Furthermore, the author reveals through Shukhov s actions the determination that mankind
experienced in the gulags. Shukhov takes a job, which could normally be considered a gruelling
task, and turns it into an act of fortitude. As the sole thing he sees is the wall in front of him (97)
and he shouts to not give up yet, boys! (109), he strongly exemplifies the perseverance of the
prisoners. The task that he is given should dishearten him but instead, boosts his morale and thus,
his determination. The character of Shukhov is crafted as a glaring example of the resilience men
have in a gulag, and this is additionally explored through the characterization of Alyoshka.
Solzhenitsyn creates the compelling character of Alyoshka who stays true to himself and to
others in the face of adversity. Staying faithful to his religion gives him the strength he requires
in order to focus on the positive outcomes of the gulags. Contrary to popular opinion, the author
uses Alyoshka s dialogue to exhibit the positivity as he says to [b]e glad [they are] in prison so
that they have time to think about [their] soul[s] (177). He regards his imprisonment as a time to
reflect upon his spirit and the kind of person he is which is a true accomplishment of the human
spirit in the calamity of a gulag. Further, the author uses his actions to display his steadfast nature
that causes him to be of tremendous help to his gang. His want to be helpful is glaringly

Informal Expressions For The Homelessness
Informal Expressions
Range: There are a multitude of ways that actions are taken outside of the government and other
formal systems. Those being the hundreds of advocacy groups, charities, and nonprofit
organizations across the country. People are always holding fundraisers for organizations dedicated
to helping this population and to collect products and clothes for the homeless. These organizations
collect anything from everyday clothes, to hygiene products like menstrual pads and toothpaste, to
medical items like Neosporin and Band Aids. Some individual actions that are taken are to donate
these necessary items to organizations or give them directly to the homeless population. People can
also volunteer their time providing food by working at a homeless shelter, food bank, or soup
kitchen. Others, may work at transitional services that help train homeless people to work certain
jobs, pay their bills, or acquire skills such as gardening. Alternately, people may feel passionate
about educating others about homelessness and the stereotypes and stigma that surround these
individuals, especially those who also have mental health issues.
Since mental health services are difficult for most of the homeless population to access, many
groups and individuals use political activism to encourage access to these services. Local mental
health clinics work to provide free or low cost mental health care for the homeless but since they
do not receive a great deal of money for these

Irish Immigration 18001880 Essay
Irish Immigration 18001880 INTRODUCTION The history of Ireland that most distressful nation
is full of drama and tragedy, but one of the most interesting stories is about what happened to the
Irish during the mid nineteenth century and how millions of Irish came to live in America (Purcell
31). Although the high point of the story was the years of the devastating potato famine from 1845
to 1848, historians have pointed out that immigrating from Ireland was becoming more popular
before the famine and continued until the turn of the twentieth century. In the one hundred years
between the first recording of immigrants in 1820 and the passing of immigration restrictions in
1924, over four and one half million Irish immigrated to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

restrictions for the immigration of people from other countries to the United States in order to

NONACCEPTANCE IN AMERICA The Catholic Church and politics were very important to the
Irish Americans. The church in Ireland had been a bulwark of strength against English oppression.
When the Irish suffered the same hostility as the British to their religious beliefs, the church in
America became a source of spiritual comfort. French and native born priests controlled the
American Catholic church when the Irish arrived in large numbers, but the Irish quickly moved
up, becoming priests, nuns, and archbishops and leaders in the church. Archbishop John Hughes
of New York in the 1840s was the first of many Irish leaders in the Catholic Church. Politics and
religion helped the Irish overcome the bitter poverty they faced in the mid 1800s. As of 1980, the
nearly 20 million Irish Americans were more likely than other immigrants to be professionals and
managers. Irish Americans had also earned the admiration of other Americans through many special
contributions to culture in the United States. The novelists John O Hara, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Mary

Social Class Stratification In The United States
According to Kerry Ferris and Jill Stein in The Real World: An Introduction to Sociology, Social
class, a system of stratification practiced primarily in capitalist societies, ranks groups of people
according to their worth. It is difficult to draw exact lines between the social classes in the united
states. The most identified classes are upper class, middle and lower middle class. The upper class
is just 1 percent and the middle class is 30 percent of the U.S population. Wealthy people erudite
early in their lives that whatever moneycame into their households, at least of 10 percent was paid
for themselves for saving purposes. They may have gone into the stock market; they may have
invested in mutual and bond funds. On the other hand, Middle class people use their income to pay

Middle class families spend a much larger share of their budget on basic necessities such as food
at home, utilities and health care therefore they try to celebrate their occasion according to their
budget. They do not spend much money on decorations, fancy foods and expensive cloths. On the
other hand, upper class spends lots of money to celebrate their events. They buy special dresses
according to event. They decorated their houses and arrange big parties where they invite all their
friends, which belong to their class, but middle class cannot afford such type of luxuries in their
life. In fact, the upper class don t spend their money on depreciating charges, they spend their
money on appreciating wealth and they live below their means. The division between upper and
middle class is clearly visible in every society, whether of a developed or a developing country.
They are totally different in their education. Families work and their living philosophy. In truth, the
difference between the middle class and the upper class is not so much about luck or morals as

Abstract
Android one of the simplest mobile operating system developed by google on the basis of Linux
kernel. Android SDK is used to develop android applications. It uses Java programming language.
It is designed to run on different types of devices. It is composed of OS, user interface and
application components. Android has built in tools. Android platform composed of Linux kernel,
system libraries, android run time, and application framework and so on five parts. Android relies
on Linux 2.6 version. It provides core system services security, memory management, process
management, network group, driven model. Android has a unique security model, which focuses
on putting the user in control of the device. Android devices however, don t all come from one
place, the open nature of the platform allows for proprietary extensions and changes. These
extensions can help or could interfere with security, being able to analyze a distribution of Android
is therefore an important step in protecting information on that system. The resulting security
model is much more like a multi user server than the sandbox found on the J2ME or Blackberry
platforms. Unlike in a desktop computer environment where a user s applications all run as the
same UID (UNIX user identifiers). Android applications run in separate processes under distinct
UIDs each with distinct permissions. Programs can typically neither read nor write each other s
data or code, and sharing data between applications must be

Power Struggle In The Odyssey
One main issue that arises from the interaction between humans and divine beings is that they have
completely opposite drives humans are beings driven to an end, always searching for a higher
power, while divine beings are bent on keeping their creations below them and maintaining the
established hierarchy. This constant struggle was clearly evident in the Odyssey; in one of the
pivotal events of the story, Zeus destroys Odysseus ship and kills all of his crew when they
overstep their boundaries by killing the cattle of the Sun. Meanwhile, in the book of Genesis, the
struggle between humans and divine beings in gaining the advantage in the power struggle is
nowhere more observable than the fall of grace of humans after eating the fruit from

The Main Theme of Tennyson s The Charge of the Light...
The Main Theme of Tennyson s The Charge of the Light Brigade
From the first few lines of The Charge of the Light Brigade, Tennyson plunges you into the
poem, creating an awesome, in depth feeling of reality. His words are so powerful, that they
make you feel as if you are one of the Light Brigade. With this war language he uses he gives the
reader a feeling of heroism and bravery, an inexorable feeling.
Charge for the guns! Into the valley of death rode the six hundred. This illustrates the great irony or
war, as they are marching into the valley on a misinterpreted command. The actual command that
was given was to ret rite from the valley and not to go into it.

In verse three it exclaims that there was a;
Cannon to the right of them,
Cannon to the left of them
Cannon in front of them.
This is an audio image of bombardment, which almost allows you to hear the cannons being set off.
This draws the reader in, making them think as if they were there.
Into the jaws of Death, into the mouth of hell . In this line I have come across personification, as
the valley has been brought to life by being given human attributes. This highlights the horror,
torture and suffering the soldiers uncovered and shows the wicked darkness of war.
In verse four there is a dramatic pause, All the world wondered. This line suggests that the whole
world knew of their bravery and that they would be always remembered as heroes of their era.
Reeled from the sabre stroke, in this short line you can nearly hear the sabres slashing through the
air violently.
Shattered and sundered tells us that they were beaten, but beaten as warriors of war.
Then they rode back, but not, Not the six hundred . This statement is very emphatic and stark,
which makes the reader dwell on their unfortunate defeat.
In the next verse Tennyson uses repetition of the cannons this brings them to life and makes the
reader reflect back on the previous verse in which

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
The way an individual is seen and the impression that person makes upon others determines the
way that person is treated. If one has charisma and self confidence in one s own abilities, those
around unconsciously recognise this trait and are inclined to respond with respect. In Daphne du
Maurier s novel Rebecca , the narrator Mrs de Winter s lack of self confidence and assertion are
responsible for the lack of respect she receives from others. In comparison, when a character, such
as Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyrehas self confidence, she earns the respect of both other characters
and herself.

Mrs Danvers, Manderley s housekeeper, is both aware of and delighted by the narrator s fear of
her. She is almost encouraged to continue her intimidation of the narrator, under the guise of
subservient courtesy. As Mrs de Winter is not in possession of her own personal maid, Mrs
Danvers is entrusted with the task of appointing one. This she fulfils, choosing a young girl of
negligible experience and who was, the only person in the house who stood in awe of the
narrator, insinuating that only the lowliest of servants finds it necessary to respect Mrs de
Winter, because Clarice has had no alarming standards and consequently they seem to be fit

insecurities and uncertainties, Clarice is confident enough to confide in her mother that serving
the narrator is not like being with a lady... it s like being with one of ourselves (p 151). By this it
can be assumed that Clarice is referring to the similar class and background she shares with the
narrator, therefore considering it unnecessary to respect or fear the narrator, as the similarities
they share are so numerous and of such social importance. This familiarisation, as perceived by
Maxim and consequently, the narrator (devoid of her own opinions) is indeed an insult and

Ralph David Abernathy, author of And The Walls Came Tumbling Down, writes of his personal
experiences in the South through the 1930 s and 40 s. Abernathy talks of being a part of a great
movement that changed the face of American society and made that old way of life obsolete. Mr.
Abernathy spent his childhood in Marengo County, Alabama. His family was almost completely
self sufficient and lived off of about five hundred acres of land. After serving in the military in

This town was the worst in the South for African Americans. One of the most racist individuals
Theophilus Eugene Bull Connor and the Mayor of Birmingham disregarded any of the directives
regarding desegregation given to them. Challenges did not end once these two individuals were
out of office. They still controlled the police of Birmingham and vowed to put all persons in jail
that violated any laws. Abernathy and King knew if they could win Birmingham in their efforts to
segregate then they very well could win the nation. So they set out to do this very thing. Abernathy
spoke at rallies in Birmingham while others organized a march. King and Abernathy received
warnings from ministers, Rabbi s and priest that the proposed march was untimely and unwise .
Once receiving this information Dr. King addressed the committee and declared that they would
march right here and now! He along with Abernathy walked right out the door leaving a room full
stunned and silent individuals. They walked past many of Bull Connor s advanced scouts and
police cars to where they could hear the singing of the sixteenth Baptist Church. Once Dr. King
stepped up to the pulpit he addressed the crowd. Once they stepped out of the church they faced a
number of demonstrators which had grown tremendously, so had the number of others who were
joining in the march. It didn t take long for the police to intervene and Abernathy along with King

Betrayal In Shakespeare s Othello
Betrayal within the book Othello by Shakespeare is definitely the biggest stand out point in the
novel. To make it clear, there is an immediate flag thrown when desdemona married Othello
without her father s consent. Bradantio tells Othello She has deceived her father, and may thee,
(I.iii.293). What he is trying to say is that she has no issue turning against her own father, so she
will have no issue doing the same thing to her husband. Betrayal in Shakespeare s society partakes
a huge role within Othelloby turning characters against each other and putting out a bigger interest
to the novel.

Supreme Court Packing Scandal
NPR s legal affairs correspondent, Nina Totenberg, described a horrible political storm brewing
over the Supreme Court of the United States ( CNN, 2016, p. 1). While reporting for CNN,
Totenberg used these words to draw attention to the untimely death of Justice Antonin Scalia in an
era of modern politics in which the court has become more polarized than ever. The Supreme
Court, the highest court of the land, is not only being severely impacted by partisan ties, but is now
also deciding cases according to these biased beliefs. The Democratic and Republican parties, after

They allude to the unanimous 9 0 decisions the Supreme Court has made as a strong indication
that the court remains neutral. Chief Justice Roberts also recently stated at a Boston law school:
We don t work as Democrats or Republicans (Savage, 2016, p. 1). Moreover, Justice Scalia, when
defending his conservative vote in a 5 4 ruling, claimed: I prefer not to take part in the
assembling of an apparent but specious unanimity (Kuhn, 2014, p. 3). However, decisions
become unanimous only when the ideological stakes are not large enough. As for extremely
controversial topics, nearly every single recent 5 4 decision has been divided perfectly along
ideological lines. The conservative majority, praised by Republicans, has unbelievably struck
down major parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, upheld an individual s right to own guns, and
has allowed unlimited corporate spending in campaigns (Kuhn, 2014). These types of decisions
have caused the divided Supreme Court that we have today. Looking at a more psychological and

Court is frequently contaminated by confirmation bias; justices seeking out facts and reasoning that

Epic of Beowulf Essay
Alliteration in Beowulf
The diction of the Old English poem Beowulf is distinguished primarily by its heavy use of
allliteration, or the repetition of the initial sounds of words.
In the original manuscript version of the poem, alliteration is employed in almost every line (or two
half lines); in modern translations of the poem this is not so. Beowulf uses alliteration [my italics]
and accent to achieve the poetic effect which Modern English poetry achieves through the use of
poetic feet, each having the same number of syllables and the same pattern of accent (Wilkie
1271). In lines 4 and 5 of the poem we find:
Oft Scyld Scefing sceapena preatum
monegum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such stressed alliterative binding together created hundreds of pairs that are used over and over,
such as halig/heofon holy/heaven, dryhten/dugud lord/troop, fyren/feond sin/enemy. The pairs need
not be complementary, but rather can be contrastive, like eadig/earm happy/wretched and wearm
/winter warm/winter. These dictional contrasts provide the listener additional pleasure by surprising
his expectations. The alliteration also includes stressed vowels (Tharaud 34).
Prof. Magoun, in examining the poem, considers it probable that a high percentage of the
language in Beowulf is formulas or phrases repeated from a common bank of phraseology from
which all poets drew their language (88 89). From this common bank the poets drew out what
they need based on the requirements of alliteration. In his essay The Making of an Anglo Saxon
Poem, Robert P. Creed agrees that alliteration was the poet s basis for making his choice of words:
I shall therefore take only a very small portion of Beowulf, eight verses (four lines), and attempt,
by means of references to similar verses and lines in the rest of the poem and in other surviving
Anglo Saxon poems, to illustrate the thesis that the making of any Anglo Saxon poem was a
process of choosing rapidly and largely on the basis of alliterative [italics mine] needs not between
individual words but between formulas (142).
The alliteration in the poem was so

Federal Budget Cuts For Domestic Programs And Foreign Aid...
During the activity, I chose federal budget cuts for domestic programs and foreign aid. I cut
foreign aid in half. I do not think that America needs to help the world anymore. We have
already helped out a lot and we should only help towards people that really need it, such as
starving Africans, instead of funding wars overseas. I cut the pay of civilian federal workers by
5 percent. People in the federal government get paid more and more every year while citizens of
our country get paid a lower minimum wage than a lot of other places in the world. I cut 250,000
government contractors. There are more contractors than government officials, which means more
money spent on a government that does not fully have the needs of the country in mind. In
addition, I chose federal budget cuts for the military. I reduced the number of troops in Iraq and
Afghanistan to 30,000 by 2013. We do not needthe troops in Iraq or Afghanistan anymore. The war
is over. Let the country figure out what it needs to do by itself. We helped create the uprising
there, so we can help diminish it by reducing troops. I also chose federal budget cuts for
healthcare. I enacted medical malpractice reform. I think it is important that our doctors research
as much as they can about a procedure or a medicine, so that they can provide the proper care for a
patient and reduce the risk of getting sued.
Moreover, I reduced the tax break for employer provider health insurance. Employers should not tax

Ventilator Associated Pneumonia Prevention
Leonard, T. N.
Thomas Edison State College
Abstract
Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) remains a big drawback within the hospital setting, with
terribly high morbidity, mortality, and cost. Some people tend to perform an evidence based review
of the literature that specializes in clinically relevant pharmacological and non pharmacological
interventions to prevent VAP. Thanks to the importance of this condition the implementation of
preventive measures is predominant within the care of mechanically ventilated patients. There is
proof that these measures decrease the incidence of VAP and improve outcomes within the
intensive care unit. A multidisciplinary approach, continuing... Show more content on

VAP has been seen to cause up to 71% of hospital pneumonia deaths. According to Koenig (2006),
Ventilator associated pneumonia is defined as pneumonia occurring more than 48 hours after
patients have been intubated and received mechanical ventilation. Diagnosing VAP requires a high
clinical suspicion combined with bedside examination, radiographic examination, and
microbiologic analysis of respiratory secretions. Aggressive surveillance is vital in under
standing local factors leading to VAP and the microbiologic milieu of a given unit. Judicious
antibiotic usage is essential, as resistant organisms continue to plague intensive care units and
critically ill patients. Simple nursing and respiratory therapy interventions for prevention should
be adopted. (para.2) VAP has two types, early on set (within the first 48 hours), and late on set
VAP (after 90 hours). VAP will usually appear within the first 48 hours after intubation. Diagnosis
of VAP can sometimes be very difficult. The usual and best way to diagnose VAP is to have a
portable chest radiograph performed. According to Koenig (2006),
While the portable chest radiograph still remains a mandatory component in the diagnosis of
ventilated patients with suspected pneumonia, as with clinical criteria for diagnosing VAP, it too
has problems with both sensitivity and specificity. Poor quality films further compromise the
accuracy of chest X rays.

World Order Research Paper
The world order, in general, refers to the economic, political or social state of affairs prevailing
in the world at a given time and the corresponding effect this has on the different relationships
countries have among each other. In this essay, I will argue that the world order is not in fact
changing and that we are not witnessing a power shift from the West to the rest of the world. To
prove this, I will analyse in terms of hard and soft power how the West is still the more dominant
party. Firstly, I will compare the military and economic power of the US and China and come to
the conclusion that the US is the more dominant power. Next, I will demonstrate how in terms of
foreign policy and political power the US commands more soft power... Show more content on

It could, therefore, be argued that these increased political tensions may cause the US to lose
key allies and in turn help China become the more favoured country. However, in recent times,
China has proven to be arrogant, aggressive and rude when it comes to executing its foreign
policy. Many countries, including Japan and India, claim to find it increasingly challenging to
cooperate with China and this has done nothing but push said countries towards the US and
cemented the US s global power. Therefore, it is clear that even in terms of soft power, the US
scores much higher than China and as a result there will be no shift in power which re
emphasizes the fact that the world order is not changing. In conclusion, I have argued that the
world order is not changing. In order to prove this, I have first established that in terms of hard
power (militarily and economically) the US is the more dominant power and as a result there
appears to be no power shift. Furthermore, I have shown that even in terms of soft power (using
foreign aid and foreign policy) the US still scores ahead of China, once again indicating no signs of
a power

The Importance Of Risk Management Strategy
This style also strongly influences our proposed approach for the platform support with IA/A A
activities. Whether we are supporting the submission of a Risk Management Framework (RMF)
package, assisting in the creation of policy, building A A documentation, analyzing vulnerability
findings, or supporting tracking activities such as workforce IA training or Federal Information
SecurityManagement Act (FISMA), our focus is on the best practice methods to enhance the overall
organizational security culture and posture. This translates differently per each individual goal;

Our team is well versed in both DIACAP and RMF, and the interaction with Committee on National
Security Systems Instruction (CNSSI) 1253 to support FISMA compliance within the DoD. A
final key component to our approach leverages our heritage in software development. Across our
project teams, we have created scripts and custom applications that automate the testing gaps left
by IA tools, such as ACAS, in demonstrating compliance against applicable STIG s, DODI 8500.2
or National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) SP 800 53 policy. The results are
included with the test results as an artifact for the accreditation authorities and agents, providing for
regression testing and historical progress purposes. Additionally, we have a custom built tool for
testing result aggregation, digestion, and presentation. The custom tool creates an interactive POA

examining data, applying false positive information and exceptions across large data sets, and
provides custom reporting for all stakeholders. This tool is typically customized for the specific

The Effects Of Radiation On Tissue And Its Effects On The...
Since x rays were discovered in 1895, there have been several improvements made to diagnostic x
ray to make it safer for both the patient and the radiographer. Some of these improvements include,
aluminum filters, protective housing, lead shields/ aprons, and quicker exposure film. These
changes have undoubtedly improved the diagnostic radiation process, however both patient and
radiographer will still receive some dose of radiation. The effects of radiation on tissue are divided
into two types: deterministic and stochastic. A deterministic effect describes ionizing radiation
induced damage that occurs once a certain threshold is exceeded and increases in severity the
greater the dose.1. (pg2 3) Some of the more extreme deterministic effects that occur with
exposure to high amounts of radiation in a short period of time are: Skin Erythema/Necrosis,
cataracts, sterility, radiation sickness, and death. Stochastic effects are probabilistic and there is no
threshold amount that must be reached. As the amount of exposure increases so does probability
of effects. However the amount of exposure does not correspond to the severity of the effects.
Some of the stochastic risk can include development of various types of cancer and hereditary
defects. It is more difficult to track the long term stochastic effects that occur during chronic low
doses exposure because there are other additional factors that must be taken into account. We are all
exposed to background radiation. The

Lobbying is when special interest groups hire and pay a professional advocate to argue for specific
legislation in law making bodies such as Congress. It has been going on since the Country s
inception and happens at every level of government. Corporations do most of it, and usually target
congresspersons, but executive agency officials and US Supreme Court Appointments have been

Evaluation Of Sme s Help Them Defend Their Network...
Abstract This project is a guide to which SME s can use to help them defend their network
against cyber criminals. It will cover all aspects of security that an SME should be using against
the current security threats that cyber criminals are using today. The guide will show how an
SME can test their networks security for functionality, so that they know everything is working as
expected. Chapter 1: Introduction This project is being undertaken to investigate and assess the
mitigation techniques required to secure the networks of Small to Medium Enterprises (SME s)
against the major network threats of today. Various steps need to be taken so that this project can
achieve any results. The first step to be taken is to research what an SME is and what an SME
network entails. Next is to research the current logical and physical network security technologies
being used or those that are currently in development. The key vulnerabilities that are found within
SME networks are going to be reviewed and possible mitigation techniques normally used to
defend against these vulnerabilities will be discussed. In order to achieve realistic results that can
be used to advice SME s an experiment will be undertaken to find out whether or not these
mitigation techniques actually secure a SME type network against key vulnerabilities such as those
researched. In this process a typical SME network environment will be created. A pen test will be
undertaken on this test network, which

Essay on Ohmeda
The BOC Group: Ohmeda (A)
Marketing Management
Company Analysis:
Ohmeda, a wholly owned subsidiary of the BOC Group, operated historically in three key areas:
medical equipment, gases, and supplies. In 1985, Ohmeda s president, W. Dekle Rountree, was
planning to exit gases and supplies in order to focus solely on high tech medical equipment.
Through this shift in strategy, Rountree was hoping to grow equipment revenues from $95M in
1985 to $158.5M in 1990.
In order to execute successfully on his growth plan, Rountree would need to re assess Ohmeda s
marketing channel strategy. In 1985, 43% of equipment sales ($41M out of $95M) were booked
through dealers. Dealers provided increased coverage, but also carried significant ... Show more

For example, the cutting edge Intensive Care Incubator (ICI) and CPU 1 ventilator had both
experienced disappointing sales since launch. Although these products had meaningful clinical
benefits, Ohmeda s sales force was not able to communicate those benefits effectively to its
customers.
Customer Analysis:
Ohmeda segmented the market into six categories based on population density (urban vs. rural) and
hospital bed size. Within these categories, the specific decision maker varied by product, ranging
from the head nurse to an anesthesiologist, respiratory therapist, or hospital engineer.
Ohmeda did not appear to have a specific strategy in place in terms of how best to sell to various
decision makers. As a result, sales effectiveness was inconsistent across segments. For example,
while small urban hospitals ( lt;200 beds) typically only required 15 hours of selling time for
anesthesia systems, large urban hospitals ( gt;700 beds) required 36 hours. Although larger
hospitals may have a more complex decision process, it is unlikely that extra bureaucracy alone
would account 21 additional hours of selling time.
Ohmeda s ineffective sales strategy for large urban hospitals was a serious problem. Market share
for anesthesia equipment among urban hospitals with gt;700 beds) was just 22.7%, significantly
lower than all other segments. At 39.8%, market share for urban hospitals with 500 699

Women Of The American Civil War
In Mothers of Invention, Drew Gilpin Faust has written a wonderful history of the Women of the
Slaveholding South in the American Civil War . This informative study allows the reader to get a
look into the life of privileged white women of the south. Faust uses diaries, political documents,
newspapers and personal letters, to give the reader to experience things through the eyes and in the
words of the women themselves. Faust presents a number of southern women whose lives were
changed by the societal upheavals caused by the civil war. The book, proficiently explains how the
civil War influenced and changed the advantaged and cultured women of the slave holding south. It
is successful at examining how gender and race deteriorated and then altered from the beginning
through the end of the military operation. The introduction leading into chapter one depicts the
platform for which these women experienced before the war and leads the reader through the
unavoidable changes that occurred out of necessity. Foust frameworks their relationships in society
before the firing at Fort Sumter and rationalizes that from the very beginning, many women realize
that their lives would be forever transformed. A major theme initiated in chapter one and
successively intertwined throughout the book, is that of social differences between the women of
the north from that of the south and how it correlated to their responses to the war. Most Affluent
women of the south defined themselves in

Anderson s Discrimination In The Inner City
A third way Anderson describes how discrimination affects those in the inner city is the
discrimination against hiring those who live there some workplaces have. Part of the reason the
concept of family has deteriorated in the inner city, besides the increase of drugs and drug
dealing, is because it is hard for a young man to provide for his family. Those who are in the
decent group have to fight against the stereotypes set forth by those part of the street group and
have to essentially be a public relations manager for the rest of his street. Those who want a job
must deliberately contradict stereotypes as companies are hesitant to hire people from the inner

According to Acton (2013), if there are too few data points, the model will have insufficient data
to perform a robust analysis and the predictions will be inaccurate and largely influenced by
random factors. Supporting this notion, other research contradicts the prediction that Annual
Dinners held later in the week will generate more money. Network for Good (2006) found that
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays are the days when donors are most generous. This finding is
supported by Chaffey (2013), who suggests that Tuesdays are the best days for marketing causes,
and reinforced by the #GivingTuesday movement, a global day dedicated to giving back, started in
partnership between New York s 92 Street Y and the United Nations Foundation (Giving Tuesday,
2014). Therefore, despite the current research findings, other research indicates that planning events
earlier in the week will lead to greater fundraising success.
Research questions two and three found a strong positive correlation between the total amount of
financial gifts pledged and both the number of guests in attendance and the number of donors. The
number of donors likely increases as the number of guests increases, possibly due to competitive or
audience effects. Triplett (1989) found that competition was sparked not only by the co action of

have been released to the public, there have been 3 Spiderman movies, 1 upcoming Spiderman

and 1 upcoming prequel (X Men: First Class). Comparing this to the number of DC films

standard of the rules we set up. (If we were not to consider the rules, we would have to include

Ernest Hemingway Code Hero Analysis
A code hero is a term coined by Ernest Hemingway through his writing during the modernism
timeframe. A code hero is a character who exhibits grace under pressure, matures throughout a
novel, and fears death, but is not afraid to face it. In The Sun Also Rises, Hemingway uses Jake
Barnes to exemplify a code hero. Barnes is veteran of World War I who has to face life with the
affliction the war left him with. This affliction left Barnes impotent and, in turn, incapable of
having a romantic life with Brett Ashley. The war left a scar on the generation who saw the
abhorrence man committed to one another and caused them to reject the idea of romance. Jake
Barnes is the epitome of a code hero because he matures throughout The Sun Also Risesand finds
contentment with his life. Jake Barnes is a journalist who lives in Paris, Barnes is in love with
Brett Ashley but can never have a relationship with her because the war has left him impotent.
Lady Ashley has control over Barnes, and he is willing to do anything for her. The reason Lady
Ashley keeps Barnes along is because he is no threat to her. Brett knows Jake is too emotionally
attached to leave her, but he cannot be intimate, therefore Jake could not hurt her. Robert Cohn is a
Jewish man who Jake dislikes, Cohn never witnessed the war and believes in romance and codes.

Pigafetta s Eater Mutiny
In 1522, the expedition led by Ferdinand Magellan that circumnavigated the entire world reached its
end. Unfortunately, most of the crew perished before the end of the expedition including Magellan.
One important event during the expedition was the mutiny against Magellan. Though Magellan
was not killed in the mutiny, the mutiny must still be investigated. The main problem is that only
two written records exist that document the expedition. One of these records was written by
Antonio Pigafetta. But is Pigafetta s account reliable? Pigafetta s account of the Eater Mutiny is
fairly valid because it is mostly factual, matter of fact, and he took his chronicling seriously. If
someone is hysterical, are you going to believe what they are saying?... Show more content on

Even if an account is emotionless, one must consider if the relevant facts are present. Pigafetta s
account does most of the relevant facts concerning the events of the voyage and the Easter
Mutiny. In order to see if these facts can be trusted, one must look for any opinions. Pigafetta s
undoubtedly had his own opinions, but he did not mention them in his account, thereby
ensuring its validity. One can tell if an account is true if it is corroborated by other sources.
Pigafetta s account is corroborated by both Documents D and E. It can be noted that Pigafetta
neglected some details about the reasoning for the mutiny out of his loyalty to Magellan, but
perhaps he did not know the exact reasoning as the men planning the mutiny would have likely
avoided speaking in front of him as they knew of his loyalty to Magellan, who they were
planning to kill and later discredit. Furthermore, Pigafetta is said to have kept the best record of
the journey in Document B. If a modern historian has said that Pigafetta s report is the best
record they have, one can assume that said report is factual and therefore reliable. In the story
about the boy who cried wolf, people stopped believing him because he was not serious.
However, this is not the case with Pigafetta s account as he took his role as a chronicler very
seriously. From the very beginning, he wrote down what was happening on board,

Role Of Dharna In The Ramayana
The Ramayana is an Indian myth used to explain the concept of dharma. Dharma is very important
in Indian culture and most of the characters in The Ramayana either accept their dharma or deny it.
The myth can be broken up into three parts the separation, initiation and return. The story also
shows all four functions of a myth. First, lets find out what the real meaning of Dharma is and how
it is portrayed in The Ramayana.
Dharma is defined as the religious and moral duties of an individual; duties vary according to
class, occupation, gender or age; according to slide five of The Ramayana lecture PowerPoint. It
is also one of the four main principles that guide individuals in their Hindu beliefs. It is
important to think of Dharma as a way of life. One must always fulfill one s duties, live by
society s laws, and always behave appropriately according to one s station in life, by doing this an
individual is earning merit for their next life as reincarnation is one of the other main principles in
Hinduism. The moral focus in The Ramayana is dharma and the story is used to teach people about
dharma.
Many of the characters in The Ramayana try to uphold their dharma. The Hero of the story Rama
tries to uphold his dharma by being a good son to his parents by following his father s wishes
even after his death, and a good husband to his wife by never stopping to look for her until he
avenges her capture. Joseph Campbell states in the hero s adventure that A hero properly is

The Little League Of The Baseball Cap
From a young age, girls and boys are separated in all walks of life; none is truer than in sports,
especially baseball. In 1939 Little League Baseball was founded for anyone between the ages of 5
and 18; leading with their motto Courage, Character, and Loyalty. This idea of courage was
especially true in the year 1950, when Kathryn Johnston tucker her hair under her baseballcap, took
on the nickname Tubby and posed as a boy for her local teams tryouts. It was not until after she
made the team that Kathryn revealed her true identity, leaving the local league no choice but to
allow her play. In just one year after that incident, the Little League regulations were changed (as
too should have their motto). Their new document read out Girls... Show more content on

In 2009, Jennifer Ring, wrote an article titled Baseball Is War ; in this article she references how
this law, no matter how old it is, will never really be accepted socially. She states that girls
playing baseball is still news. Parents who arrive at a youth baseball game and unfold their
portable chairs are still, in 2009, surprised by the presence of a ponytail (Ring, 12). It is not until
something as simple as a girl on a baseball field is old news , that we will be able to say, we are
equal. Perhaps Ring is right on the second page of her article where she states that, The battle is
cultural, not legal . It has been a females legal right since 1973 to play baseball, yet we see it less
and less as the years go on. During the 19th century, women s teams at six different colleges as
well as other outside sources began playing baseball. Baseball was a chance for these women to
step out side of their comfort zone almost and gain a freedom that they otherwise did not have
before. Martha Brady states it best with her quote from article Creating Safe Spaces and
Building Social Assets for Young Women in the Developing World When she says, To a degree,
being involved in sports appears to work against the repressive effects of conformity and
femininity and allows girls access to the more action oriented realm of adolescence that is
typically enjoyed by boys (Brady, 42). During this time a couple women stood out and began to

It has been called a symbol of pride, also a symbol of hate. Many people wonder why it is still seen in today s society or why it causes so much tension if it is just a flag to some. The flag has bisected the country for a long time (Kozlowska, 2014). It is a definite border between some citizens and a huge social problem. It has caused issues for decades and still carries on racial slurs, white power, and bad morals. Nonetheless the information provided compares both sides of the debate. Negative societal issues regarding the Confederate Flag Now this was a common research scenario and many felt that it had no connotation to their life or lifestyles. However, some were deeply hurt by the flag. In the article by Wallace Best he states, Mama suggested that she had never seen the Confederate flag during her years in the South because the community in which she lived was strictly segregated, and few people, black or white, ever crossed the line (Best, 2001, p. 14. Surely this portrays that the flag to them was a sign of racial segregation and power. The whites were powerful over the flag and many African American s failed to see it. It was seen as stepping out of place for the blacks. (Best, 2001). Blacks and whites were not cohesive in being together. Even though the confederate flag stands by two different sides in society, actions were not taken upon until recently. It happened when racial actions and hate became more prevalent through society. An example that was shown through research was in South Carolina. This state struggled with deciding to keep or remove the flag. • 4. Bob Fosse s 1972 Cabaret Prior to World War I, German cinema was a thriving industry being seen across Europe and North America. Various European cultures of the 1920s embraced new ideas and artistic styles called expressionism that focused on experimental fields of expression and looking into the future. In Bob Fosse s 1972 musical Cabaret, the flamboyant world of art appears under the intimidating Nazi era. This film follows the German Expressionismtrend as seen through its avant garde style and sense of emotion. The editing techniques, featured art, and deeper meaning all testify to the German Expressionismera. During the 1920s, German Expressionism emerged because of the number of related artistic movements beginning in Germany that reached an all time high in Berlin, where nightlife was booming. These expressive movements impressed the multicultural European culture in fields such as: architecture, painting, sculpting, and film. A crucial notion in the movement was to portray the world in an emotionally distorted perspective to evoke different moods and participate in new philosophies. Physical reality was not a concern during this movement. Popular story plots of the Expressionist films often involved situations concerning madness, betrayal, and insanity, all which can be found in Cabaret. This obscure style of filmmaking was brought to America when the Nazis gained political power and a number of German filmmakers immigrated to Hollywood. • 5. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s One Day Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich explores the man s struggle to survive in the trying circumstances of a Soviet Gulag. Though the novel leads the reader through the horrific conditions in one of the work camps, it does not focus on the lack of hope that the men feel but it focuses on the perseverance and resilience of the prisoners. Shukhov s character shines through as a prominent example of the courage of the souls in the work camps. Further, Alyoshka proves to never give up in the face of extreme conditions and is always around to help his gang. Finally, Tyurin s undying devotion to leadership provides a refreshing look into the resilience of the prisoners. Solzhenitsyn expertly constructs intricate layers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the author reveals through Shukhov s actions the determination that mankind experienced in the gulags. Shukhov takes a job, which could normally be considered a gruelling task, and turns it into an act of fortitude. As the sole thing he sees is the wall in front of him (97) and he shouts to not give up yet, boys! (109), he strongly exemplifies the perseverance of the prisoners. The task that he is given should dishearten him but instead, boosts his morale and thus, his determination. The character of Shukhov is crafted as a glaring example of the resilience men have in a gulag, and this is additionally explored through the characterization of Alyoshka. Solzhenitsyn creates the compelling character of Alyoshka who stays true to himself and to others in the face of adversity. Staying faithful to his religion gives him the strength he requires in order to focus on the positive outcomes of the gulags. Contrary to popular opinion, the author uses Alyoshka s dialogue to exhibit the positivity as he says to [b]e glad [they are] in prison so that they have time to think about [their] soul[s] (177). He regards his imprisonment as a time to reflect upon his spirit and the kind of person he is which is a true accomplishment of the human spirit in the calamity of a gulag. When the Irish suffered the same hostility as the British to their religious beliefs, the church in America became a source of spiritual comfort. French and native born priests controlled the American Catholic church when the Irish arrived in large numbers, but the Irish quickly moved up, becoming priests, nuns, and archbishops and leaders in the church. Archbishop John Hughes of New York in the 1840s was the first of many Irish leaders in the Catholic Church. Politics and religion helped the Irish overcome the bitter poverty they faced in the mid 1800s. As of 1980, the nearly 20 million Irish Americans were more likely than other immigrants to be professionals and managers. Irish Americans had also earned the admiration of other Americans through many special contributions to culture in the United States. The novelists John O Hara, F. Social Class Stratification In The United States According to Kerry Ferris and Jill Stein in The Real World: An Introduction to Sociology, Social class, a system of stratification practiced primarily in capitalist societies, ranks groups of people according to their worth. It is difficult to draw exact lines between the social classes in the united states. The most identified classes are upper class, middle and lower middle class. The upper class is just 1 percent and the middle class is 30 percent of the U.S population. Wealthy people erudite early in their lives that whatever moneycame into their households, at least of 10 percent was paid for themselves for saving purposes. They may have gone into the stock market; they may have invested in mutual and bond funds. On the other hand, Middle class people use their income to pay their bills first. All... His words are so powerful, that they make you feel as if you are one of the Light Brigade. With this war language he uses he gives the reader a feeling of heroism and bravery, an inexorable feeling. Charge for the guns! Into the valley of death rode the six hundred. This illustrates the great irony or war, as they are marching into the valley on a misinterpreted command. Into the jaws of Death, into the mouth of hell . In this line I have come across personification, as the valley has been brought to life by being given human attributes. This highlights the horror, torture and suffering the soldiers uncovered and shows the wicked darkness of war. In verse four there is a dramatic pause, All the world wondered. This line suggests that the whole world knew of their bravery and that they would be always remembered as heroes of their era. Reeled from the sabre stroke, in this short line you can nearly hear the sabres slashing through the air violently. Shattered and sundered tells us that they were beaten, but beaten as warriors of war. Then they rode back, but not, Not the six hundred . • 20. Epic of Beowulf Essay Alliteration in Beowulf The diction of the Old English poem Beowulf is distinguished primarily by its heavy use of allliteration, or the repetition of the initial sounds of words. In the original manuscript version of the poem, alliteration is employed in almost every line (or two half lines); in modern translations of the poem this is not so. Beowulf uses alliteration [my italics] and accent to achieve the poetic effect which Modern English poetry achieves through the use of poetic feet, each having the same number of syllables and the same pattern of accent (Wilkie 1271). In lines 4 and 5 of the poem we find: Oft Scyld Scefing sceapena preatum monegum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such stressed alliterative binding together created hundreds of pairs that are used over and over, such as halig/heofon holy/heaven, dryhten/dugud lord/troop, fyren/feond sin/enemy. The pairs need not be complementary, but rather can be contrastive, like eadig/earm happy/wretched and wearm /winter warm/winter. These dictional contrasts provide the listener additional pleasure by surprising his expectations. The alliteration also includes stressed vowels (Tharaud 34). Prof. Magoun, in examining the poem, considers it probable that a high percentage of the language in Beowulf is formulas or phrases repeated from a common bank of phraseology from which all poets drew their language (88 89). From this common bank the poets drew out what they need based on the requirements of alliteration. In his essay The Making of an Anglo Saxon Poem, Robert P. Creed agrees that alliteration was the poet s basis for making his choice of words: I shall therefore take only a very small portion of Beowulf, eight verses (four lines), and attempt, by means of references to similar verses and lines in the rest of the poem and in other surviving Anglo Saxon poems, to illustrate the thesis that the making of any Anglo Saxon poem was a process of choosing rapidly and largely on the basis of alliterative [italics mine] needs not between individual words but between formulas (142). I cut the pay of civilian federal workers by 5 percent. People in the federal government get paid more and more every year while citizens of our country get paid a lower minimum wage than a lot of other places in the world. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... VAP has been seen to cause up to 71% of hospital pneumonia deaths. According to Koenig (2006), Ventilator associated pneumonia is defined as pneumonia occurring more than 48 hours after patients have been intubated and received mechanical ventilation. Diagnosing VAP requires a high clinical suspicion combined with bedside examination, radiographic examination, and microbiologic analysis of respiratory secretions. Aggressive surveillance is vital in under standing local factors leading to VAP and the microbiologic milieu of a given unit. Judicious antibiotic usage is essential, as resistant organisms continue to plague intensive care units and critically ill patients. Simple nursing and respiratory therapy interventions for prevention should be adopted. (para.2) VAP has two types, early on set (within the first 48 hours), and late on set VAP (after 90 hours). VAP will usually appear within the first 48 hours after intubation. Diagnosis of VAP can sometimes be very difficult. The usual and best way to diagnose VAP is to have a portable chest radiograph performed. According to Koenig (2006), While the portable chest radiograph still remains a mandatory component in the diagnosis of ventilated patients with suspected pneumonia, as with clinical criteria for diagnosing VAP, it too has problems with both sensitivity and specificity. Poor quality films further compromise the accuracy of chest X rays. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this essay, I will argue that the world order is not in fact changing and that we are not witnessing a power shift from the West to the rest of the world. To prove this, I will analyse in terms of hard and soft power how the West is still the more dominant party. Next, I will demonstrate how in terms of foreign policy and political power the US commands more soft power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since x rays were discovered in 1895, there have been several improvements made to diagnostic x ray to make it safer for both the patient and the radiographer. Some of these improvements include, aluminum filters, protective housing, lead shields/ aprons, and quicker exposure film. These changes have undoubtedly improved the diagnostic radiation process, however both patient and radiographer will still receive some dose of radiation. The effects of radiation on tissue are divided into two types: deterministic and stochastic. A deterministic effect describes ionizing radiation induced damage that occurs once a certain threshold is exceeded and increases in severity the greater the dose.1. (pg2 3) Some of the more extreme deterministic effects that occur with exposure to high amounts of radiation in a short period of time are: Skin Erythema/Necrosis, cataracts, sterility, radiation sickness, and death. Stochastic effects are probabilistic and there is no threshold amount that must be reached. As the amount of exposure increases so does probability of effects. However the amount of exposure does not correspond to the severity of the effects. Some of the stochastic risk can include development of various types of cancer and hereditary defects. It is more difficult to track the long term stochastic effects that occur during chronic low doses exposure because there are other additional factors that must be taken into account. They discuss Ender playing the mind game and how he keeps coming back to the giant s drink . When the boys are all in the battleroom, Ender decides to mess around with the null gravity, teaching himself how it works and what he can do with it. Bernard s friend, Alai, joins in as well. They both begin to play with their guns, freezing everyone else. During private study time, Ender was doing Free Play. He does well all throughout, but as the two voices in the beginning of the chapter had said, he was back to the Giant s drink. Essay on Ohmeda The BOC Group: Ohmeda (A) Marketing Management Company Analysis: Ohmeda, a wholly owned subsidiary of the BOC Group, operated historically in three key areas: medical equipment, gases, and supplies. In 1985, Ohmeda s president, W. Dekle Rountree, was planning to exit gases and supplies in order to focus solely on high tech medical equipment. Through this shift in strategy, Rountree was hoping to grow equipment revenues from $95M in 1985 to $158.5M in 1990. In order to execute successfully on his growth plan, Rountree would need to re assess Ohmeda s marketing channel strategy. Within these categories, the specific decision maker varied by product, ranging from the head nurse to an anesthesiologist, respiratory therapist, or hospital engineer. Ohmeda did not appear to have a specific strategy in place in terms of how best to sell to various decision makers. As a result, sales effectiveness was inconsistent across segments. For example, while small urban hospitals ( lt;200 beds) typically only required 15 hours of selling time for anesthesia systems, large urban hospitals ( gt;700 beds) required 36 hours. Although larger hospitals may have a more complex decision process, it is unlikely that extra bureaucracy alone would account 21 additional hours of selling time. This informative study allows the reader to get a look into the life of privileged white women of the south. Faust uses diaries, political documents, newspapers and personal letters, to give the reader to experience things through the eyes and in the words of the women themselves. Faust presents a number of southern women whose lives were changed by the societal upheavals caused by the civil war. The book, proficiently explains how the civil War influenced and changed the advantaged and cultured women of the slave holding south. It is successful at examining how gender and race deteriorated and then altered from the beginning through the end of the military operation. The introduction leading into chapter one depicts the platform for which these women experienced before the war and leads the reader through the unavoidable changes that occurred out of necessity. Foust frameworks their relationships in society before the firing at Fort Sumter and rationalizes that from the very beginning, many women realize that their lives would be forever transformed. A major theme initiated in chapter one and successively intertwined throughout the book, is that of social differences between the women of the north from that of the south and how it correlated to their responses to the war. • 33. Anderson s Discrimination In The Inner City A third way Anderson describes how discrimination affects those in the inner city is the discrimination against hiring those who live there some workplaces have. Part of the reason the concept of family has deteriorated in the inner city, besides the increase of drugs and drug dealing, is because it is hard for a young man to provide for his family. Those who are in the decent group have to fight against the stereotypes set forth by those part of the street group and have to essentially be a public relations manager for the rest of his street. Those who want a job must deliberately contradict stereotypes as companies are hesitant to hire people from the inner city, even discriminating against whole districts and refusing to hire anyone... Network for Good (2006) found that Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays are the days when donors are most generous. Dharma is very important in Indian culture and most of the characters in The Ramayana either accept their dharma or deny it. The myth can be broken up into three parts the separation, initiation and return. The story also shows all four functions of a myth. First, lets find out what the real meaning of Dharma is and how it is portrayed in The Ramayana. Dharma is defined as the religious and moral duties of an individual; duties vary according to class, occupation, gender or age; according to slide five of The Ramayana lecture PowerPoint. It is also one of the four main principles that guide individuals in their Hindu beliefs. It is important to think of Dharma as a way of life. One must always fulfill one s duties, live by society s laws, and always behave appropriately according to one s station in life, by doing this an individual is earning merit for their next life as reincarnation is one of the other main principles in Hinduism. The moral focus in The Ramayana is dharma and the story is used to teach people about dharma. Many of the characters in The Ramayana try to uphold their dharma. The Hero of the story Rama tries to uphold his dharma by being a good son to his parents by following his father s wishes even after his death, and a good husband to his wife by never stopping to look for her until he avenges her capture.
