The Social Aspects Of Gender In No Country For Old Men
What is gender and how is gender determined? Gender is the way humans are categorized into a
culture and is also the key to the entrance of a society. The two common genders that are
recognizable throughout every culture across the world are male and female. Commonly,
gender is decided quickly after birth, or sometimes even before birth, by using the parts of one s
anatomy to categorize the new born. What the new born doesn t know is that once they grow
up, they will have to abide by a set of rules to stay in their gender grouping, male or female. All
too commonly, though, it can be seen that once the males grow up, they gain a sense of power,
this power being one that shadows the females and leaves the females empty handed compared to
the males, the so called superior breed. The film No Country for Old Menby Ethan Coen and Joel
Coen illustrates that men are dominant over men, but most importantly, men are dominant over
women, which parallels with Aaron H. Devor s essay, Becoming Members of Society: Learning
the Social Meanings of Gender . Furthermore, the film presents the idea that when males are given
too much power, they turn into a feared monster that is a desired, which is fulfilled by fear and
attraction.
One specific scene from No Country for Old Men illustrates the domination of men over women in
the patriarchy system through the use of dialogue, and the tone the actors use to convey the
dialogue. Carla Jean Moss, the widow of Llewelyn Moss, walks into her bedroom

Summary Of John Tudor s The Boston Massacre
Tudor, John. The Boston Massacre. March 5, 1770. The diary entry by John Tudor stated that
there had been a brutal massacre on King Street in front of the Customhouse by approximately
eight soldiers. This murder took place under the command of Captain Thomas Preston. The
massacre started by a group of young men that were having a snowball fight, but quickly drew the
attention of many, ending in Captain Thomas Preston commanding his soldiers to shoot. The
diary stated that Lieutenant Governor Hutchinson was going to do everything he could do to get
justice for those killed. Justice Dana and Tudor gave a warrant for Captain Preston to High
Sheriff, which ended with the arrest of Captain Preston and the arrest of the eight soldiers. It was
no longer safe for the troops to be in the town because everyone hates them, so Lieutenant
Governor called for the immediate removal of the troops from the town to Castle William. The
textbook and the diary entry are both similar on how the massacre began, but the textbook states
that the soldiers came to assist White, ending in the soldier being surrounded by the crowd and one
of the soldiers being knocked down. The soldier that was knocked down, got up and fired his
musket according to the textbook, but the diary entry stated that Captain Preston commanded the
soldiers to fire. The textbook does not state anything about the soldiers being immediately removed,
but states that the redcoats left for Canada.

The Character Of Aeneas As A Hero In Homer s Odyssey
Aeneas can be portrayed as a hesitant hero many times throughout the books. However, it was
more evident in the first half than the second half. In the first half of the epic he showed more
hesitance in his actions when faced with hard decisions, and part of that hesitance followed him
into the second half. This hesitance can be both a strength and a weakness for him in terms of his
people s perception of him, and how the gods view him as both a man and a hero.
One place he seemed to hesitate in the second half was in book 8. Aeneas seemed to question what
the outcome would be of the battle with Turnus. It almost seems like he doesn t have the faith in
his self or the rest of his army when fighting. Every time he starts to hesitate the Gods have to
come in to give him an extra boost somehow to make himself feel more comfortable with the
decision he wants to make. In this specific part the gods give him more hope with the outcome by
revealing that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his solo fight with Turnus he was confident, even though he had been injured in the
beginning. He knew that he had the support of the gods and fate itself. Aeneas showed his
hesitancy in this fight when he went to kill Turnus. He was forced to examine his decision to end
Turnus after hearing his final plea to live as his father s son. His emotions toward Turnus had
changed in that small instant and made him almost stop what he had originally intended to do.
This hesitation showed a weakness in his character as a hero as it portrayed how easily his own
emotions could cloud his judgment and make it harder for him to act. He quickly forgot this
hesitancy after seeing the ring on Turnus hand that had belonged to one of his men. Again, here his
emotions got the better of him, but instead of holding him back, it drove him forward. That ring
became the reason that Aeneas got over his hesitance and finally ended the

Marriage Of Figaro
The Marriage of Figaro, or Le Nozze di Figaro as originally titled in Italian, is a light hearted opera
buffa in four acts with musical setting by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and libretto by Lorenzo Da
Ponte. The libretto is based on La folle journГ©e, ou le Mariage de Figaro (The Madcap Day, or
the Marriage of Figaro), a comically titled stage play by Pierre Beaumarchais. Mozart s opera is in
fact part of a trilogy. The Marriageof Figaro continues the story of The Barber of Seville, another of
Beaumarchais plays adapted for opera by Paisiello. Composed in 1786 and originally a reasonable
success, The Marriage of Figaro s acclaim has grown much greater and is celebrated and
performed today around the world, so widely successful that it has even... Show more content on

In anticipation of attending the performance, I read up on the opera s plot and watched videos
of key moments. I became familiar with the characters and formed expectations of each. For
instance, I expected Count Almaviva to be foolishly arrogant, with an I expect to be obeyed
attitude. However, I was surprised and shocked to discover how very human each personage
really was. A typical novel is told in the point of view of one individual with whom we, the
audience, tend to sympathize with. We know their thoughts and feelings and we cheer them on ,
while despising the antagonists. In Guth s The Marriage of Figaro, I found myself wishing for
good closure for each and every one of the characters despite the fact that they are the source of
each other s misery.
Despite a solid effort from all voice parts and some disconcertingly beautiful standout arias,
overall, I found the libretto and Guth s atmospheric changes to be much too disconnected,
resulting, for me, in a somewhat disappointing Marriage of Figaro. Those hoping to experience
the classical brilliance of a Mozart Da Ponte opera will come out of the theatre dissatisfied. On the
other hand, those wanting a glimpse of traditional operatic music and dialogue with added
psychological depth will take immense pleasure in viewing COC s 2016 production of The

Summer School Research Paper
Summer school is not always a student s first choice, but it is a smart one for many. Many students
struggle balancing heavy courses, just as the maths and sciences, along with an English credit.
Many students enjoy English, but are unable to find a balance. Having three other courses on top
of English, no matter the course, creates higher levels of stress due to different teachers assigning
projects or tests on different days or perhaps even the same day. By taking a course in summerschool
, it allows the student to only focus on one subject. All of their effort can be put into that class
without the added stress from other courses. This allows the students to give the teacher their
undivided attention and focus. The second reason why summer school is an ideal option for many
students is that is allows a student the opportunity to have a spare in the upcoming school year.
Students, like myself, who are heavily focused on math and science are given a heavy load of
equations to memorize and homework to accomplish. By making use of a spare, students are able
to use this time to enhance their studies. Students would have more time to catch up on homework,
study for tests and improve their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
English is a mark that many, if not most, courses look at when searching for students to accept into
their program. By taking English in summer school, rather than during the regular school year,
students would be allowing themselves to strive for the best possible mark they can achieve. Not
having to worry about a chemistry quiz or a physics test will allow students to give the course their
undivided attention. Being in an environment with like minded peers allows the students to better
themselves and their mark prior to apply to university and having to deal with the stress that comes
along with a regular school

when one seeks success at any cost. He uses the protagonist to show different transitions he goes
through to get where he wants, which includes being aimless toward life to having a goal he

Examples Of Pride In Macbeth
Agency of Pride The American author, speaker, and pastor John C. Maxwell explains how pride
can have two different effects on people, There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. Good
pride represents our dignity and self respect. Bad pride is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks
of conceit and arrogance ( John C Maxwell). This quote is evident in the lives and actions of
Macbeth, Malcolm, and Macduff. Malcolm and Macduff pride were driven by confidence and
obedience to their kingdom. Macbeth was faced with temptations that pressured his prideful
trait for evil and cruel deeds. Macbeth s pride and desires cloud his judgment which led to the
lies, betrayals, and murders. The play of Macbeth clearly illustrates how Macbeth did have
agency during his temptations. One example of Macbeth s agency of pride that is expressed
during the play is the willpower that Macbeth has to control his actions during the first meeting
with the witches. In this interaction, the witches only tell him half of the prophecy By Sinel s
death I know I am Thane of Glamis. But how of Cawdor? The Thane of Cawdor lives, A
prosperous gentleman, and to be king Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be
Cawdor. Say from whence You owe this strange intelligence, or why Upon this blasted heath you
stop our way With such prophetic greeting (Shakespeare). The encounter with the witches
demonstrates how Macbeth had power over his response to the witches because he had two

Critical Analysis Of Self Leadership And Positive Psychology
Introduction
Utilising a combined self leadership and positive psychology perspective, I will self analyse my
strengths and weaknesses through the use of questionnaires completed throughout the semester to
gain a deeper understanding of my personality traits in my chosen career. The career path I have
chosen is Human Resources (HR) and everything analysed will be in respect of that path.
A definition of self leadership is the process of influencing oneself to establish the self direction
and self motivation needed to perform (Manz, 1995). Positive Psychology is the study of the
conditions and processes that contribute to the flourishing or optimal functioning of people, groups,
and institutions (Gable Haidt, 2005; Sheldon King, 2001).
Critical analysis of Self leadership and Positive Psychology
Self leadership is very important for a number of reasons, including:
1.To enhance job effectiveness and develop personally and professionally.
2.To achieve career potential and growth such as promotions, salary increases, job satisfaction and
job choice.
3.To enhance individual and group well being such as health and happiness.
4.Becoming an emotionally intelligent professional capable of leading effectively.
By gaining a clearer understanding of self leadership the elements of positive psychology can be
incorporated. Positive psychology looks at the circumstances and processes that enable individuals,
teams and organisations to grow and develop at a high level.

Improving Decision Tree Performance Methods
There are several improvement methods are available to improve decision tree performance in
terms of accuracy, and modelling time. Since experimenting with every available method is
impossible, some of the methods are selected that are proven to increase decision tree performances.
Selected improvement methods and their experimental setups are presented in this chapter.
4.1 Correlation Based Feature Selection
Feature selection is a method used for reducing number of dimensions of a dataset by removing
irrelevant and redundant attributes. Given a set of attributes F and a target class C, goal of feature
selection is to find a minimum set of F that will yield highest accuracy (for C) for the classification
task. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, method is performing well for C4.5 algorithm is likely to perform well for ID3 algorithm.
Previous studies show that CFS method increases accuracy for CART algorithm although not as
much as the C4.5 algorithm does (Doraisamy et al., 2008).
CFS uses a search algorithm and feature evaluation algorithm which uses a heuristic that measures
goodness of attributes subsets. Hall and Smith (1998) define this goodness heuristic as Good
feature subsets contain features highly correlated with the class, yet uncorrelated with each other.
Equation 1 below shows heuristic formula. G_x=(kВЇ(r_ci ))/в€
љ(k+k(k 1)ВЇ(r_ii ))
Where G_x is the heuristic of goodness of an attribute subset x that contains k features, ВЇ(r_ci ) is
average attribute class correlation which points predictive power of the attribute subset to a class,
and ВЇ(r_ii ) is average attribute inter correlation that indicates the redundancy among attributes.
A version of correlation based attribute selection to be included in experiment setup is called Fast
Correlation Based Feature Selection (FCBF) that initially developed by Yu and Liu (2004). This
algorithm is preferred over other available correlation based attribute selection algorithms since
while other implementations of CFS using forward sequential or greedy search methods (e.g.

Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di’s Mausoleum
Qin Shi Haung Di was the first emperor of the Qin Empire in China during the 3rd century BCE.
Born in 261 BCE, Haung inherited the throne from his father at the early age of 13 and
showcased his ambitious spirit by unifying China and creating his empire (Swart 1984). While he
is known mostly for building the Great Wall of China, he also left quite a legacy when it comes
to his elaborate burial grounds. In 246 BCE, thirty six years before his death in 210 BCE, Emperor
Qin started planning the construction of his extravagant final resting place (Swart 1984). The

only were the sculptures ornate and somewhat realistic especially for the time period they were
created in most of them were actually painted so they would be more colorful (Patel 2007).
Every terracotta warrior was painted after they were sculpted. What is most amazing about the
painting of the warriors was the fact that their color selection included purple. While there were
red and blue pigments that could be mixed, the ancient world never mastered a true purple color,
except for a brief time in China during the Qin and Han dynasties (Patel 2007). The color itself
was discovered in 1992 and is a purple barium copper silicate inorganic pigment that was
manmade in the early 3rd century BCE. Other than being painted onto terracotta warriors, this
unique color was also found on decorative pieces and pottery in Qin s tomb (Fitzhugh 1992). The
pigment created was described as a technological wonder, a complex synthetic compound made
before the invention of paper or any codified understanding of elemental chemistry (Patel 2007 p.
25). The creation and usage of Chinese purple on elements in Qin s tomb provided knowledge to us
that was previously unknown about artistry in

Teenage Stereotypes
Lazy, Disrespectful, Selfish, Technology Crazed. These are just a few of the words that come
to mind when the typical adult describes the everyday teenager. To some, these descriptions are
taken as a given fact and lack recognition of the issue this poses to the individuals on the
receiving end of such. This is the exact issue present in discrimination and stereotyping. For
years, a specific group of individuals has been reduced to the negative connotations presented
against them by every other group that lacks such quality such as their race, gender, appearance,
age ...etc. Every instance applicable contains the common ground in which the other groups fail
to recognize the harm in their superficial classifications of one another due to narrow minded
tendencies. This is the basis to every single form of discrimination. An incredibly oppressed
group who is by far, no stranger to these circumstances are teens who continuously receive the
hostility of adults for simply belonging to their age group. Present day teenagers have come to be
placed in an inaccurate box that classifies them as a selfish, immature group by adults due several
factors, the most prominent being the media and the form it introduces teens to the average adult.
The constant incorrect portrayal of teens in movies, t.v. and other platforms has caused adult
audiences to believe these classifications and thus, cause several issues to be inflicted upon teens
in several areas of their lives that calls for

Handmaids
The true measure of a text s value lies in its ability to provoke the reader into awareness of its
language and construction, not just its content
The conceptual understanding of a good text revolves not only around its content, but also its
language and construction. This notion articulates profoundly within Margaret Atwoods novel A
Handmaid s Tale as it is, after all, the author s manipulation of the language and construction which
enacts as vehicles towards the reader s understanding of the content.
A Handmaid s Tale is a confrontational post modern work of feminist dystopian fiction; it depicts a
protagonist s struggle to adapt to a totalitarian and theocratic state where language has become
corrupted.
Without any doubt, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, The Handmaid s Tale is an example of a good text as it provokes the reader into
awareness of the construction of the novel as well as successfully putting forward the point the
author tries to make without making it appear too apparent.
The content, like the construction and language, is an essential device in which put forth the author
s intention of the novel, but in a more direct manner. The main themes held within the content of
The Handmaid s Tale comprise of not just the overall story itself, but also the character and the idea.
The narrator, Offred, is unquestionably the most noteworthy character in the novel where the
reader experiences the world of the Gilead through her eyes. However, the reader is not given an
in depth understanding of what Offred truly is like, as her only description of herself is being
thirty three years old , have brown hair and stand five seven without shoes . Through Offred s
vague description of herself, as well as by mentioning that she has trouble remembering what she
look like , suggests the idea of feminism in which Atwood tries to convey. This is evident through
Offred s depiction on the corruption of language and the non linear construction of her narrative
which evokes the restrictions placed on women, and thus, a perceptible clue which outlines the
author s concern to the rights and identity of women.
Hence, although the content of the novel is easier

Civic Virtue In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics
Aristotle was a premier Greek philosopher who had some very interesting concepts on ethics,
which are collectively called the Nicomachean Ethics. His collection of work has led to the
development of many theories on the basis for human existence. The main question by Aristotle s
series of lectures is the bane of human existence. According to Aristotle, humans seek happiness(4).
If anything promises happiness, then human will go in the direction it leads. Aristotle was also just
as interested in other areas such as virtue. His opinion of human ethical action is based on the

Individual civic virtues is connected to a world made up of a number of elements such as
understanding individual importance the community, and seeking to serve one s community.
Without a sense of civic duty, individuals would be lost and would not know how to interrelate with
other members of their community. Civic virtue is more than just acknowledging that the word is
made up of more than one individual, it is accepting that one is not alone, and thus one needs to
think of others when doing anything. Civic virtue is composed of various elements. One such
element is participation. In order to be virtuous civically, one has to actively participate in social
activities. Taking part means contributing one s skills, expertise and thoughts on matters that are
socially acceptable. Any community requires active participation of all its members, which is
something that is really not seen today. Another element of civic virtue is trustworthiness. Citizens,
in addition to being actively involved in what is happening in their respective societies should be
able to be trusted. This is because participation sometimes being involved means being accorded
responsibility of communal assets. They should be wasted, and they should not be used for
individual gain. This is important because sometimes people misuse things given to them by their
communities, and forget that they are not alone. This may lead to corruptive practices. Lastly, the
last aspect of civic virtue

racism is a major theme and is relevant between blacks and whites.. Racism can be defined as
prejudice, discrimination or antagonism directed against someone of a dififferent race based n
the belief that one s own race is superior. Racism is a belief that all members of same race possess
characteristics, abilities or qualities speisfic to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as

case of Tom Robinson and Calpurnia.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey are furious after they learned that Teresa Giudice received a

amount Bravo offered Teresa Giudice. Radar Online, July 21, 2015 reported that Melissa Gorga,
along with several other RHONJ cast members have refused to sign their contracts until Bravo
sweetens the offer. They are livid that Teresa could be offered so much, especially as she is a
convicted felon. They believe that the message Bravo is sending shows that felons are rewarded

Bipolar Disorder And Mental Health Essay
Everyone has good days and bad days, as some say Everyone has their up s and down s .
Whether it is good or bad most people can control their moods. Unfortunately, there are people
that experience a mood disorder known as Bipolar Disorder. According to the National Institute
of Mental Health about one percent of the American population have been diagnosed with
bipolar disorder. Living with a person that has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder is very
difficult, especially not knowing anything about bipolar. There are many questions to be asked.
Such as what is the disorder? Is bipolar disorder heredity? How is the disorder treated? First of all,
Bipolar Disorder, also known as manic depressive order cause s shifts in moods, energy, activity
levels, and the ability to carry out day to day tasks. According to the Diagnostic and statistical
manual of mental disorder, There are different types of bipolar disorder . Bipolar I is manic
episodes often followed by severe depression or mixed episodes. Some Symptoms of bipolar I are
increased energy, racing thoughts, decreased need for sleep, increased sex drive, and aggressive
behavior. Bipolar I occurs equally in both sexes. Bipolar II is a pattern of major depressive
episodes alternating with episodes of hypomania. Females are more likely to have bipolar II.
Feeling sad, tired, feeling irritable, helpless, not able concentrate, and thoughts or attempts at
suicide are just a few symptoms of bipolar II. Having mild form of

Virulence Factors Of Cryptoccus Neoformans
Cryptococcus neoformans (Cn) is a basidiomycete fungus that causes cryptococcosis worldwide in
immunodeficiency and healthy individuals. In this pathogen, the elaboration of virulence factors
including melanin and the capsule depends on intact intracellular trafficking, an essential cellular
process also required for nutrient uptake, ion homeostasis, and receptor recycling. Our previous
studies have found that Cn evolves a cryptococcal intersectin (Cin1) regulated endocytic pathway
essential for growth and virulence. We have also obtained evidence linking Cin1 to extracellular
RNAthrough RNA Seq and to CNS survival through co infection of a mouse model of
cryptococcosis. However, how Cin1 governs the transport network affecting... Show more content

Specifically, we will find if Cin1 orchestrates the only endocytic pathway and how it affects host
parasite interaction through regulating exRNA transport and mouse CNS survival. We propose
three specific aims: Aim 1 is to determine if Cin1 mediates the sole endocytic pathway in Cn
through identification and characterization of pathway components. Aim 2 is to examine the role
of Cin1 in exRNA export through continued annotation and analysis of RNA Seq data. Aim 3 is to
further explore the CNS survival advantage of Cin1 S by generating the Cin1 L strain using one
step CRISPR Cas9 mutagenesis method we recently developed and testing it through co infection.
Our central hypothesis is that intracellular trafficking is important in pathogen growth and
interaction with a host resulting pathogenesis (our long term goal). We propose those specific aims
to test the hypothesis that Cn evolves a distinct Cin1 endocytic pathway necessary for pathogenesis
(short term goal). Through studying a fundamental cellular process and its adaptation to
pathogenesis of Cn, our investigation could lead to the discovery of novel antifungal targets. 2.
Specific Aims
Cryptococcus neoformans (Cn) virulence depends on active transport of vesicles that contain
melanin and capsule precursors, proteinases, and other macromolecules. We found that Cin1 is
critical in mediating intracellular trafficking affecting growth and virulence and that Cin1 S
isoform exhibits a marked survival advantage in the

Event Driven System Essay
The design of an event driven systems is extremely complex as all the components in the event
driven system interact with each other in an asynchronous manner, as opposite to our traditional
system which interact in a synchronous manner. Hence to automate the test cases in this event
driven environment is very challenging. Considering certain projects where there is use of
automated tests ,the tests were successful but only up to certain extent , some of the tests cases
were required to be run manually due to time and cost constraints and high complexity of the

JOHN COOK was born at Garven Terrace in Stevenston on the 11th of March 1909. The family
moved to 31 Station Square prior to 1913, and John likely received his education at the Stevenston
Junior Secondary School. He probably left school about the age of 14 and was apprenticed as an
iron moulder at the nearby Ardrossan Winton Foundry.
This came to a halt with the onset of the Great Depression about 1930. For a time he found work as
a labourer on the construction of sea defences along Saltcoats Promenade. John eventually followed

Physician Assistant Duties
Physician assistants play a pivotal role in the healthcare industry. This profession emerged in the
1960 s as a response to the shortage of doctors entering the workforce (Hamilton, 2016). Physician
assistants can do many things with the training that they receive during their schooling such as
providing diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic remediation, surgical assistance, and pharmaceutical
prescription ( PhysicianAssistant Career Information and Job Description ). Depending on their
work experience, specialty, and the state that they practice in they may have different
responsibilities. Some duties of a P.A. are to: order and interpret tests, take patients medical history,
counsel patients on preventive care, conduct physical examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses,
write prescriptions, and assist in surgeries.
P.A.s easily continue to satisfy the shortage of doctors today because they can easily move
between specialties since their training is more generalized and shorter in length than that of an
MD. The average length of a Physician Assistant program can be anywhere between 1 to 3 years.

Regenerative Medicine
Though great progress has been made in medicine, current evidence based and palliative treatments

There are few effective ways to treat the root causes of many diseases, injuries and congenital

The Importance Of The Land Of Opportunity In America
Land of Opportunity for Everyone. The United States is a very diverse country, which makes it
the most unique out of every other place in the world. What helps this wonderful country of
opportunity become what it is to this day is because of the immigrants who traveled here.
Coming from a family of immigrants I know first hand what my grandparents and parents had to
go through to earn the life they gave me today. Immigrants are an important part in our society.
They do the work that most people don t want to do. As in, work in factories, construction sites,
and on farms. Immigrants help run a high demand country, so why get rid of them? They have a
purpose here. Everyone around the world knows that America is the Land of Opportunity .
People work so hard just to come here and start a new life. They all want to experience the
American Dream . To us, this is a normal lifestyle. If you look at immigrants situations closely,
you see their country s trouble and how over there they have it much worse. Wouldn t you want to
give them an opportunity where you and they know is better? So many countries in Europe are
having a hard time and people want to escape that and move to the States to start fresh. My
grandparents moved to Chicago from Poland when my mom was 19. They worked tremendously
hard to make enough money to make sure they were set for the future. They are lucky that they got
to come here and turn their life around and make sure that my brother and I didn t have to

Gay Bars And Gay Nightclubs
Introduction Since the 1930s, gay bars and gay nightclubs have been around. The bar called
White Horse, in Oakland, California, has been opened since 1933. It is known to be the first gay
bar to be opened here in America. Being gay in the 1930s was brutal. Same gender sex was a
felony, and being caught in a gaybar could cost someone their job. In a society that viewed gays
as barley human, the White Horse allowed a level of freedom that in the 1940s or 1950s was
liberating (Duffy 2016). With time changes and people being more accepted, gay bars and gay
nightclubs started opening all across America. One of the many gay nightclubs here in Denver is
known as Tracks. It was opened in 1980. On October 5th, 2017, an experimental observation at the
Tracks nightclub was made. During this experience, it was observed that these people that
identified as either gay, lesbian, or bisexual were acting as normal human beings in a heterosexual
nightclub. Although the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender movement acts have been
created to allow this community to be more opened and unafraid, it has had a history of having
psychological components such as depression, and social components such as relationships with
one another, and of course the history within hate crimes towards the LGBTcommunity.

Deregulation, innovation and globalisation has changed the way banks run from asset management
to liability management, as well as the change from mono to multi tasking and the increased

2) The second phase sees the ending of the sharp distinction between banks and NBFIs (non
banking financial institutions). In the 1980s, banks were given the right to compete in the
mortgage market and building societies allowed to compete in the market for consumer credit; i.e.
both allowed in each other s markets. Whereas in US, banks were not allowed to compete in the
field of investment banking and insurance until 1999.
3) The third phase allowed increased competition within the financial sector and from outside it.
NBFIS and other new kinds of financial institutions attached to other financial operations provided
new kinds of services such as online banking (within the financial sector). Firms from outside the
financial sector also entered the financial services market including Tesco, Marks and Spencer
(UK), and GM and GE in the US (General electric s financial arm makes 1/3 of its profits!).
The three phases of deregulation is the main driving force for banks and NBFIs to compete
aggressively and take on excessive risk (through actively searching out liabilities) to gain higher
profit margins. By expanding their balance sheet through liabilities, they increase exposure to credit
risk and become highly sensitive to the state of the economy i.e. more defaults during downturns of
the economy.

Renewable Energy Is Not The Answer
Renewable Energy Is Not the Answer Renewable Energy is defined as: a renewable natural
resource or source of energy, such as water, wind, or solar power (Oxford English Dictionary).
There are those that believe that our nation should abandon the use of fossil fuels such as oil,
natural gas, and coal, and switch to renewable energysources. Although the change could yield
many benefits, I believe that renewable energy is a not viable alternative for our nation s energy
future because it would create an unfavorable environmental impact, it is not as reliable, and it
would be too costly. Converting to renewable energy sources would have a devastating
environmental impact. In addition to solar panels, wind turbines and hydroelectric dams would
make up the largest portion of renewable energy generation. Wind farms create hazards in their
areas of operation. They consume up to 200 times as much land as gas fired power plants
(Langwith). If 25 percent of our nation s energy came from wind, the turbines would kill more than
a million birds each year (Langwith). Experts have been unable to find a solution to this problem.
Hydroelectric dams are harmful to the habitats of many fish. For example, the Bonneville Power
Administration has an expensive program of capturing fish and moving them around its Columbia
River dams. Their goal is to recover and preserve the Pacific Northwest Salmon. This creates a huge
cost to fisheries and causes many environmentalists to support non hydro

Siddhartha tried to find Enlightenment. All the Brahmins and sages of the Brahma pathway of life

he is guided by the Brahmin teachers which none of them have found Enlightenment. While in

to have a goal; but finding means: to be free, to be receptive, to have no goal. (113) Govinda s

story deals with the background of the girl. She is a Native American and because she is a
Native American, people treat her differently because she comes from a different culture than
others. They even pick on her because of her last name. This passage as a whole is developed in a
sense that you have to work your way up for what you want to accomplish. Now the story of Betty
Marie.

The Kongolese And Christianity In Kongo
For centuries, Africans and their belief systems have been derided. Instead of being studied as valid
and meaningful responses to the universal terms of human existence, African religions have often
been considered exotic objects... peculiar and incomprehensible or repellent. For many Europeans,
Christianitywas by far the superior religion, and they strove to convert Africans. One kingdom
where they seemed to enjoy success was Kongo. By 1704, the people living there had been Catholic
for six generations nearly two centuries. The Kongolese took great pride in this, believing that it
made them superior to their neighbours. Moreover, both the Kongolese and the Church took pride
in the fact that Christianity had come to Kongo not through conquest and forced conversion, but
through the voluntary conversion of JoГЈo I. Despite this achievement, though, the Church more
the Kongolese had to practice Catholicism exactly as the Europeans did. With the coming of Dona
Beatriz Kimpa Vita, who claimed to be possessed by Saint Anthony, this conflict would become
more apparent than ever before. Though the Capuchins succeeded in having Dona Beatriz burnt at
the stake, they failed in their ultimate goal of fully converting the Kongolese to their form of
Catholicism.
The knowledge of Catholicism displayed by the Kongolese was impressive. Though many
Europeans wondered about their penchant for such things as sacred stones and ancestors graves...
they never doubted that the

Reasons For Preventing Delays For Closing Delays
You accepted the offer and the buyer have agreed with the closing date, hopefully with any
closing delays. The final goal for both the seller and the buyer is have all parties involve dint he
process to prevent any closing delays. The delays aren t always caused by the seller or the buyer.
In some cases the delays are due to the lender or financial instructions and how long they take to
process the loanand close.
In California the escrow instructions have different procedures, for instant southern California signs
on the front end, while northern California signs on the back end. Before anything happens all of
the terms of the purchase agreement need to be met, the seller deposits the deed and the buyer
deposits the funds.
Many of the causes for closing delays can be prevented and correctly quickly with planning and
communications. Some common errors causing closing delays include documentation, incorrect
amounts stated on the required funding, or findings from the buyers final walk through of the home
before closing.
7 Ways To Avoid Closing Delays On Your Home Sale
1Communications
This one is at the top of the list for good reason. Buyers need to keep their lenders up to date and
in the loop at all time. Your lender is processing one of the largest transactions of your life, and
there s a ton of paperwork and duplicate information needed to process your loan documents. If
your lender can t reach you to get the information, there s a delay. If you ve been asked to

I would rather prefer to buy a laptop instead of desktop computer because laptop have a great
advantage in terms of portability.
Advantage of buying a laptop is:
It is portable and allow you to use almost anywhere.
It takes less room and can be put away when not in use.
Laptop have a single cord to content with rather than multiple cords with desktop computer use.
Laptop has the same capabilities as desktop computer. It come in smaller than briefcase so it is
possible to transported and conveniently used in temporary space. Such as Airplanes, libraries.
It is totally depending on individual users because primarily for checking email, communicating
with social network, write papers, play games. In this case, I think laptop is more essential than a
desktop computer.
Secondly, I will give more thought to increase computer performance. Three tools to maintain in

Mark Strand s Use Of Praise In Poetry
In the poem From a Litany by Mark Strand, the world praise is used quite a bit. On the other
hand in Jane Kenyon s Let Evening Come , the word praise is never used but is instead inferred
in the poem. The word praise can actually mean a variety of different things depending on the
context; here it is used to mean admiration. The two poems overlap in the sense that they have a
feeling of letting go or a mellowing out quality that gives the reader a sense of sadness from the
author. Both poems depict a scene of morning to night, or beginning of life to death; thought they
have collected after many long years on earth. Although the similarities are striking in both poems,
there are both diverse in there own way. Both poem expressed admirations for the small things in
life. They both mention the sun, sky, and the ground specifically in their texts. For example in
Strand poem he says, ... I praise the sky... I praise the wind, the rising generations of air... I praise
the clocks... All of these things come into play in our daily lives so why do they get so much
attention from Strand?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why You Have to Get Outta Compton if You Want To See Compton The movie Straight Outta
Compton was tops at the box office in its opening weekend knocking Mission: Impossible Rogue
Nation from the top spot. Mega site Rotten Tomatoes rates it 89 percent on the Tomatometer with
96 percent of the audience saying they liked it. The film not only gave diversity to the offerings
at theaters across America but was a win for black actors and filmmakers. Strangely, residents of
the namesake city had to Get Out if they wanted to see it. Compton does not have any movie
theaters. According to Manuel Pastor, professor of sociology at the University of Southern
California, It s a low income area, it s been heavily disinvested in. When you live in a community
that doesn t have that kind of retail, it s a sign that the community is devalued. Movie complex

Dre. Ford. According to The Root, Ford has plans to build a complex that will house a 16 screen
movie theater and have an additional 30 percent of space for retail. Dr. Dre is also using money
from royalties generated by his new album to build an arts and entertainment center for children.
Trina Witherspoon, a resident of Compton was interviewed by KCAL 9. She said that a theater
and retail complex was important so we can bring revenues to our own city instead of taking them
to some other city. Ford was quick to point out that things are still in the planning stages and it
takes time to work out all of the numbers and logistics. The wait for an entertainment district has
already been a long one, and while there are plans to improve the economy of the city, things are
not going to happen

Repair Man Narrative
I regretted not stopping at that gas station at the last turn I was hungry, lost, and almost out of gas.
My car was old and the radio and A.C. stopped working decades ago. I tried to take it to a repair
man but he said that not only was my A.C. and radio broken but my engine was broken well this
car was literally unfixable but I didn t have enough money for a new car or to repair this piece of
junk. The moon was full and the road was clear. I looked at the gas tank it was inching at zero O
god I cried. Then in my rear view mirror I saw a giant house. So big it almost covered the moon. It
gave me a chill up my spine like the house was calling to me wait for me. As I glanced in a daze at
the house. My car made a sputtering noise and then abruptly stopped. My car was out of gas.
I jumped out the car and slammed the door with anger. I was in deep trouble, What should I do

The History Of Manifest Destiny
Manifest Destiny is a term coined in the 1840s. It meant that the United States could, and was
destined to, have all the land from coast to coast. The term Manifest Destiny was first used in an
article by John O Sullivan in 1845. O Sullivan stated in his article our manifest destiny to
overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying
millions. This sentiment helped to fuel additional western settlement in the Oregon territory,
increased desire to annex Texas, and war with Mexico. United StatesPresident Polk was a supporter
of Manifest Destiny. Consequently, his presidency aw the greatest territorial expansion to dare.

Why Is Bilingualism Important In Canada
Canada has a very unique cultural aspect that not many countries share. It is one of just eleven
countries that has official policies of bilingualism(1). This mix of languages is a result of two
different Colonial empires trying to claim the same land. At first, these two cultures often clashed
and did not fraternize at all. As the years went on however, the two tongues learned to accept one
another. After accepting one another they morphed into one bilingual culturethat Canadian s from
the Atlantic to the Pacific came to love and express. Nowadays politics in Canadais constantly
revolving around bilingualism and how it can be preserved. To give a some context through history

King Kong Film Analysis
King Kong
No film has captivated my imagination more than King Kong. I m making movies today because I
saw this film when I was 9 years old. Peter Jackson
There is bewilderment to decry in Peter Jackson s King Kong, but one progression that is
comparably mellowed and a grip to the key movie s success. Kong has conquered Ann Darrow and
carried her to his landing place, high on the mountain. He laid her down, not roughly, starts to
roar, and expose his teeth and beat his chest. Ann who is an unemployed vaudeville acrobat, in
some way naturally knows that the gorilla is not being aggressive to her, but trying to impress her
by acting like an alpha male, the King of the Jungle. Ann dpoesn t know how a Queen Kong would

Yes, Kong in 1933 responsibility for his imprison, but she doesn t acknowledge it so much for
him. Kong was always misconceive, but in the 2005 film, there is a person who knows it.
As Kong escalates the skyscraper, Ann yells not because of the gorilla but the barrage on the
gorilla by a civilization that speculates that he must be shatter. The movie forms the same
somewhat of transformation compromising an enormous gorilla that Spielberg s Close Encounters
of the Third Kind (1977) did when he replaced 1950s attacks on alien visitors with a very 1970s
attempt to advertise with them (by 2005, Spielberg was behind to charging them, in War of the
Worlds ).
King Kong is a brilliant entertainment, it is like the blooming of all the capability in the original
simple film. Computers are used not hardly to design special effects, but also to establish style and
beauty; to discover a look for the film that is capable to the story. The characters are not badge
heroes or criminals identified in blunt sketch, but bizarre entity with charisma.
Acknowledge the change between Robert Armstrong (1933) and Jack Black (2005) as Carl Denham
, the movie director, estates an innocent corps on Skull Island. A Hollywood stereotype located
on Cecil B. DeMille has been replaced by one who points out us more of Orson Welles. And in
the leading role of Ann Darrow, Naomi Watts conveys a dimension of affection that Fay Wray,
bless her heart, was never allowed in 1933. Never have damsels been in

The view of the unconscious between Jung and Freud vary in...
The view of the unconscious between Jung and Freud vary in different aspects. These famous
psychologists corresponded in 1906, then finally met in 1907 and became friends rather quickly
after that. Freud thought of Jung as his disciple, but after the years went by their friendship
declined due to irreconcilable differences in the theory of psychoanalysis. Jung deemed that Freud
was fixated on aggression and sexuality being the motivating dynamic in his theories. He also
thought that Freud was excessively negative towards the theory of the unconscious. Eventually, the
two parted ways after Jung left the International Psychoanalytic Congress.
Freud s understanding of the unconscious is organized into three echelons: the ... Show more

Anna O developed symptoms during the care of her sick father. Some initial indications were
loss of appetite, weakness, anemia and a serious cough. She then developed paralysis in her
arms and fostered hallucinations while going in and out of a normal state of consciousness.
Along with many attempts of suicide, Freud s colleague, Josef Breuer, still made an effort to
treat her. It was when she pretended to be impregnated by Breuer and actually developed the
indicators of pregnancy, that he finally stopped treating her. Afterwards, she was institutionalized,
recovered from her hysteria and became a highly recognized social worker. Freud collaborated
with his colleague Josef Breuer on the book Studies of Hysteria centered on the case of Anna O.
Freud would note that she most likely had sexual encounters when she was younger because he
believed that all hysteria cases were a direct result of childhood sexual experiences. In the Studies
of Hysteria, Freud thought that the affliction was the outcome of her aggression toward her father s
substantial illness a sexual encounter, while Jung would have thought that Anna O was
experiencing issues with the awaited outcome of her life and maybe there was an absence of faith.
Since sex and aggression are Freud s main points in his theories and he also thought that those two
were the reasoning behind her symptoms of hysteria, Jung would disagree that they were the reason
because he thought

for their convenience. They are generally modelled as having diminishing marginal utility.
Ultimately, whether an object is a good or a bad depends on each individual consumer and
therefore, it is important to realize that not all goods are good all the time and not all goods are

There is an implied condition for this was they are fit for the particular purpose, this means that
the buyer (consumer) has expressly or impliedly known to the seller. Satisfactory quality: The
satisfactory quality is where the sellers sell goods for the good of their business; there is an
implied term that the goods that is supplied are of the right satisfactory quality. However except to
the extent of defects which are brought straight to the buyer s attention, this will be done before the
contract is made meaning that T Mobile will need to sell satisfactory quality to their consumers.
Conclusion: Overall in the briefing sheet I have made sure that all evidence is provided, also that a
clear explanation is made of how a contract protects the consumer and what happens if that contract
is breached. Mainly information is suggested on the different conditions made by the sales of goods
act such as title, description, fitness for purpose and also satisfactory quality. Factors that invalidate
contracts: There are many factors that can make a contract invalidated, which means that the
contracts cannot be used anymore, such as the following: Misrepresentation: Misrepresentation is
where there is a false statement in the contract which is made by one of the parties to the

Carbon Monoxide Pathogenesis
Carbon monoxide, which is essentially produced through the enzymatic actions of heme
oxygenase (HO), appears to have as similar biochemical properties as NO. Activation of guanylyl
cyclase produces high levels of c GMP, and this was attributed to the actions of carbon monoxide.
Carbon monoxide acts as a physiological vasodilator in hepatic microcirculation. In contrast, up
regulated inducible HO 1 mRNA expression was detected in the right ventricle in animal model of
congestive heart failure. Increased carbon monoxide levels are frequently found in cirrhotic
patients. Experimental evidence also suggests this substance may be implicated in CCM
pathogenesis. This is largely based on the finding of the elevated HO 1 mRNA and protein
expression... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A hallmark in the pathogenesis is the pronounced splanchnic arterial vasodilatation and reduced
systemic vascular resistance (SVR) (MГёller and, Henriksen, 2008). In this setting, cardiac
pressures are largely normal, at least in part, because the reduced after load protects systolic
function. This circulatory state resembles certain high output states resulting from increased blood
volume and defined as a hyperdynamic unloaded failure of the heart. The distinction is that the
hyperdynamic circulation in cirrhosis is due to the low SVR and increased arterial compliance
(Timoh et al., 2011). Administration of vasoconstrictors, such as angiotensin II and terlipressin,
increases the SVR and thereby the left ventricular afterload unmasking a latent left ventricular
dysfunction in cirrhosis. On the other hand, vasodilators, like angiotensin converting enzyme
inhibitors and other afterload reducing agents, should be used cautiously due to the risk of more
aggravation of the vasodilatory state (Krag et al., 2010). Diagnosis and

  • 2. The Social Aspects Of Gender In No Country For Old Men What is gender and how is gender determined? Gender is the way humans are categorized into a culture and is also the key to the entrance of a society. The two common genders that are recognizable throughout every culture across the world are male and female. Commonly, gender is decided quickly after birth, or sometimes even before birth, by using the parts of one s anatomy to categorize the new born. What the new born doesn t know is that once they grow up, they will have to abide by a set of rules to stay in their gender grouping, male or female. All too commonly, though, it can be seen that once the males grow up, they gain a sense of power, this power being one that shadows the females and leaves the females empty handed compared to the males, the so called superior breed. The film No Country for Old Menby Ethan Coen and Joel Coen illustrates that men are dominant over men, but most importantly, men are dominant over women, which parallels with Aaron H. Devor s essay, Becoming Members of Society: Learning the Social Meanings of Gender . Furthermore, the film presents the idea that when males are given too much power, they turn into a feared monster that is a desired, which is fulfilled by fear and attraction. One specific scene from No Country for Old Men illustrates the domination of men over women in the patriarchy system through the use of dialogue, and the tone the actors use to convey the dialogue. • 3. Summary Of John Tudor s The Boston Massacre Tudor, John. The Boston Massacre. March 5, 1770. The diary entry by John Tudor stated that there had been a brutal massacre on King Street in front of the Customhouse by approximately eight soldiers. This murder took place under the command of Captain Thomas Preston. The massacre started by a group of young men that were having a snowball fight, but quickly drew the attention of many, ending in Captain Thomas Preston commanding his soldiers to shoot. The diary stated that Lieutenant Governor Hutchinson was going to do everything he could do to get justice for those killed. Justice Dana and Tudor gave a warrant for Captain Preston to High Sheriff, which ended with the arrest of Captain Preston and the arrest of the eight soldiers. It was no longer safe for the troops to be in the town because everyone hates them, so Lieutenant Governor called for the immediate removal of the troops from the town to Castle William. The textbook and the diary entry are both similar on how the massacre began, but the textbook states that the soldiers came to assist White, ending in the soldier being surrounded by the crowd and one of the soldiers being knocked down. The soldier that was knocked down, got up and fired his musket according to the textbook, but the diary entry stated that Captain Preston commanded the soldiers to fire. The textbook does not state anything about the soldiers being immediately removed, but states that the redcoats left for Canada. Andrews, John. The Boston ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Character Of Aeneas As A Hero In Homer s Odyssey Aeneas can be portrayed as a hesitant hero many times throughout the books. However, it was more evident in the first half than the second half. In the first half of the epic he showed more hesitance in his actions when faced with hard decisions, and part of that hesitance followed him into the second half. This hesitance can be both a strength and a weakness for him in terms of his people s perception of him, and how the gods view him as both a man and a hero. One place he seemed to hesitate in the second half was in book 8. Aeneas seemed to question what the outcome would be of the battle with Turnus. It almost seems like he doesn t have the faith in his self or the rest of his army when fighting. Every time he starts to hesitate the Gods have to come in to give him an extra boost somehow to make himself feel more comfortable with the decision he wants to make. In this specific part the gods give him more hope with the outcome by revealing that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During his solo fight with Turnus he was confident, even though he had been injured in the beginning. He knew that he had the support of the gods and fate itself. Aeneas showed his hesitancy in this fight when he went to kill Turnus. He was forced to examine his decision to end Turnus after hearing his final plea to live as his father s son. His emotions toward Turnus had changed in that small instant and made him almost stop what he had originally intended to do. This hesitation showed a weakness in his character as a hero as it portrayed how easily his own emotions could cloud his judgment and make it harder for him to act. He quickly forgot this hesitancy after seeing the ring on Turnus hand that had belonged to one of his men. Again, here his emotions got the better of him, but instead of holding him back, it drove him forward. That ring became the reason that Aeneas got over his hesitance and finally ended the ... • 5. Marriage Of Figaro The Marriage of Figaro, or Le Nozze di Figaro as originally titled in Italian, is a light hearted opera buffa in four acts with musical setting by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. The libretto is based on La folle journГ©e, ou le Mariage de Figaro (The Madcap Day, or the Marriage of Figaro), a comically titled stage play by Pierre Beaumarchais. Mozart s opera is in fact part of a trilogy. The Marriageof Figaro continues the story of The Barber of Seville, another of Beaumarchais plays adapted for opera by Paisiello. Composed in 1786 and originally a reasonable success, The Marriage of Figaro s acclaim has grown much greater and is celebrated and performed today around the world, so widely successful that it has even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In anticipation of attending the performance, I read up on the opera s plot and watched videos of key moments. I became familiar with the characters and formed expectations of each. For instance, I expected Count Almaviva to be foolishly arrogant, with an I expect to be obeyed attitude. However, I was surprised and shocked to discover how very human each personage really was. A typical novel is told in the point of view of one individual with whom we, the audience, tend to sympathize with. We know their thoughts and feelings and we cheer them on , while despising the antagonists. In Guth s The Marriage of Figaro, I found myself wishing for good closure for each and every one of the characters despite the fact that they are the source of each other s misery. Despite a solid effort from all voice parts and some disconcertingly beautiful standout arias, overall, I found the libretto and Guth s atmospheric changes to be much too disconnected, resulting, for me, in a somewhat disappointing Marriage of Figaro. Those hoping to experience the classical brilliance of a Mozart Da Ponte opera will come out of the theatre dissatisfied. On the other hand, those wanting a glimpse of traditional operatic music and dialogue with added psychological depth will take immense pleasure in viewing COC s 2016 production of The Marriage of ... • 7. Summer School Research Paper Summer school is not always a student s first choice, but it is a smart one for many. Many students struggle balancing heavy courses, just as the maths and sciences, along with an English credit. Many students enjoy English, but are unable to find a balance. Having three other courses on top of English, no matter the course, creates higher levels of stress due to different teachers assigning projects or tests on different days or perhaps even the same day. By taking a course in summerschool , it allows the student to only focus on one subject. All of their effort can be put into that class without the added stress from other courses. This allows the students to give the teacher their undivided attention and focus. The second reason why summer school is an ideal option for many students is that is allows a student the opportunity to have a spare in the upcoming school year. Students, like myself, who are heavily focused on math and science are given a heavy load of equations to memorize and homework to accomplish. By making use of a spare, students are able to use this time to enhance their studies. Students would have more time to catch up on homework, study for tests and improve their... • 10. Examples Of Pride In Macbeth Agency of Pride The American author, speaker, and pastor John C. Maxwell explains how pride can have two different effects on people, There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. Good pride represents our dignity and self respect. Bad pride is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance ( John C Maxwell). This quote is evident in the lives and actions of Macbeth, Malcolm, and Macduff. Malcolm and Macduff pride were driven by confidence and obedience to their kingdom. Macbeth was faced with temptations that pressured his prideful trait for evil and cruel deeds. Macbeth s pride and desires cloud his judgment which led to the lies, betrayals, and murders. The play of Macbeth clearly illustrates how Macbeth did have agency during his temptations. One example of Macbeth s agency of pride that is expressed during the play is the willpower that Macbeth has to control his actions during the first meeting with the witches. In this interaction, the witches only tell him half of the prophecy By Sinel s death I know I am Thane of Glamis. But how of Cawdor? The Thane of Cawdor lives, A prosperous gentleman, and to be king Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be Cawdor. • 11. Critical Analysis Of Self Leadership And Positive Psychology Introduction Utilising a combined self leadership and positive psychology perspective, I will self analyse my strengths and weaknesses through the use of questionnaires completed throughout the semester to gain a deeper understanding of my personality traits in my chosen career. The career path I have chosen is Human Resources (HR) and everything analysed will be in respect of that path. A definition of self leadership is the process of influencing oneself to establish the self direction and self motivation needed to perform (Manz, 1995). Positive Psychology is the study of the conditions and processes that contribute to the flourishing or optimal functioning of people, groups, and institutions (Gable Haidt, 2005; Sheldon King, 2001). Critical analysis of Self leadership and Positive Psychology Self leadership is very important for a number of reasons, including: 1.To enhance job effectiveness and develop personally and professionally. 2.To achieve career potential and growth such as promotions, salary increases, job satisfaction and job choice. 3.To enhance individual and group well being such as health and happiness. 4.Becoming an emotionally intelligent professional capable of leading effectively. By gaining a clearer understanding of self leadership the elements of positive psychology can be incorporated. Since experimenting with every available method is impossible, some of the methods are selected that are proven to increase decision tree performances. Selected improvement methods and their experimental setups are presented in this chapter. 4.1 Correlation Based Feature Selection Feature selection is a method used for reducing number of dimensions of a dataset by removing irrelevant and redundant attributes. Given a set of attributes F and a target class C, goal of feature selection is to find a minimum set of F that will yield highest accuracy (for C) for the classification task. Although ... Previous studies show that CFS method increases accuracy for CART algorithm although not as much as the C4.5 algorithm does (Doraisamy et al., 2008). CFS uses a search algorithm and feature evaluation algorithm which uses a heuristic that measures goodness of attributes subsets. Hall and Smith (1998) define this goodness heuristic as Good feature subsets contain features highly correlated with the class, yet uncorrelated with each other. Equation 1 below shows heuristic formula. G_x=(kВЇ(r_ci ))/в€ љ(k+k(k 1)ВЇ(r_ii )) Where G_x is the heuristic of goodness of an attribute subset x that contains k features, ВЇ(r_ci ) is average attribute class correlation which points predictive power of the attribute subset to a class, and ВЇ(r_ii ) is average attribute inter correlation that indicates the redundancy among attributes. A version of correlation based attribute selection to be included in experiment setup is called Fast Correlation Based Feature Selection (FCBF) that initially developed by Yu and Liu (2004). This algorithm is preferred over other available correlation based attribute selection algorithms since while other implementations of CFS using forward sequential or greedy search methods (e.g. MRMR/CFS developed by Schoewe, ... While he is known mostly for building the Great Wall of China, he also left quite a legacy when it comes to his elaborate burial grounds. In 246 BCE, thirty six years before his death in 210 BCE, Emperor Qin started planning the construction of his extravagant final resting place (Swart 1984). Not only were the sculptures ornate and somewhat realistic especially for the time period they were created in most of them were actually painted so they would be more colorful (Patel 2007). Every terracotta warrior was painted after they were sculpted. What is most amazing about the painting of the warriors was the fact that their color selection included purple. While there were red and blue pigments that could be mixed, the ancient world never mastered a true purple color, except for a brief time in China during the Qin and Han dynasties (Patel 2007). The color itself was discovered in 1992 and is a purple barium copper silicate inorganic pigment that was manmade in the early 3rd century BCE. Other than being painted onto terracotta warriors, this unique color was also found on decorative pieces and pottery in Qin s tomb (Fitzhugh 1992). The pigment created was described as a technological wonder, a complex synthetic compound made before the invention of paper or any codified understanding of elemental chemistry (Patel 2007 p. 25). • 15. Teenage Stereotypes Lazy, Disrespectful, Selfish, Technology Crazed. These are just a few of the words that come to mind when the typical adult describes the everyday teenager. To some, these descriptions are taken as a given fact and lack recognition of the issue this poses to the individuals on the receiving end of such. This is the exact issue present in discrimination and stereotyping. For years, a specific group of individuals has been reduced to the negative connotations presented against them by every other group that lacks such quality such as their race, gender, appearance, age ...etc. Every instance applicable contains the common ground in which the other groups fail to recognize the harm in their superficial classifications of one another due to narrow minded tendencies. This is the basis to every single form of discrimination. An incredibly oppressed group who is by far, no stranger to these circumstances are teens who continuously receive the hostility of adults for simply belonging to their age group. Present day teenagers have come to be placed in an inaccurate box that classifies them as a selfish, immature group by adults due several factors, the most prominent being the media and the form it introduces teens to the average adult. The constant incorrect portrayal of teens in movies, t.v. and other platforms has caused adult audiences to believe these classifications and thus, cause several issues to be inflicted upon teens in several areas of their lives that calls for ... Handmaids The true measure of a text s value lies in its ability to provoke the reader into awareness of its language and construction, not just its content The conceptual understanding of a good text revolves not only around its content, but also its language and construction. This notion articulates profoundly within Margaret Atwoods novel A Handmaid s Tale as it is, after all, the author s manipulation of the language and construction which enacts as vehicles towards the reader s understanding of the content. Therefore, The Handmaid s Tale is an example of a good text as it provokes the reader into awareness of the construction of the novel as well as successfully putting forward the point the author tries to make without making it appear too apparent. The content, like the construction and language, is an essential device in which put forth the author s intention of the novel, but in a more direct manner. The main themes held within the content of The Handmaid s Tale comprise of not just the overall story itself, but also the character and the idea. The narrator, Offred, is unquestionably the most noteworthy character in the novel where the reader experiences the world of the Gilead through her eyes. However, the reader is not given an in depth understanding of what Offred truly is like, as her only description of herself is being thirty three years old , have brown hair and stand five seven without shoes . Through Offred s vague description of herself, as well as by mentioning that she has trouble remembering what she look like , suggests the idea of feminism in which Atwood tries to convey. Civic Virtue In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics Aristotle was a premier Greek philosopher who had some very interesting concepts on ethics, which are collectively called the Nicomachean Ethics. His collection of work has led to the development of many theories on the basis for human existence. The main question by Aristotle s series of lectures is the bane of human existence. According to Aristotle, humans seek happiness(4). If anything promises happiness, then human will go in the direction it leads. Aristotle was also just as interested in other areas such as virtue. His opinion of human ethical action is based on the rationality of human beings. Being rational beings, human beings will always assess situations before making decisions. Individual civic virtues is connected to a world made up of a number of elements such as understanding individual importance the community, and seeking to serve one s community. Without a sense of civic duty, individuals would be lost and would not know how to interrelate with other members of their community. Civic virtue is more than just acknowledging that the word is made up of more than one individual, it is accepting that one is not alone, and thus one needs to think of others when doing anything. Civic virtue is composed of various elements. One such element is participation. In order to be virtuous civically, one has to actively participate in social activities. Taking part means contributing one s skills, expertise and thoughts on matters that are socially acceptable. Any community requires active participation of all its members, which is something that is really not seen today. Another element of civic virtue is trustworthiness. Citizens, in addition to being actively involved in what is happening in their respective societies should be able to be trusted. This is because participation sometimes being involved means being accorded responsibility of communal assets. They should be wasted, and they should not be used for individual gain. This is important because sometimes people misuse things given to them by their communities, and forget that they are not alone. This may lead to corruptive practices. Lastly, the last aspect of civic virtue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this pathogen, the elaboration of virulence factors including melanin and the capsule depends on intact intracellular trafficking, an essential cellular process also required for nutrient uptake, ion homeostasis, and receptor recycling. Our previous studies have found that Cn evolves a cryptococcal intersectin (Cin1) regulated endocytic pathway essential for growth and virulence. We have also obtained evidence linking Cin1 to extracellular RNAthrough RNA Seq and to CNS survival through co infection of a mouse model of cryptococcosis. However, how Cin1 governs the transport network affecting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Specifically, we will find if Cin1 orchestrates the only endocytic pathway and how it affects host parasite interaction through regulating exRNA transport and mouse CNS survival. We propose three specific aims: Aim 1 is to determine if Cin1 mediates the sole endocytic pathway in Cn through identification and characterization of pathway components. Aim 2 is to examine the role of Cin1 in exRNA export through continued annotation and analysis of RNA Seq data. Aim 3 is to further explore the CNS survival advantage of Cin1 S by generating the Cin1 L strain using one step CRISPR Cas9 mutagenesis method we recently developed and testing it through co infection. Our central hypothesis is that intracellular trafficking is important in pathogen growth and interaction with a host resulting pathogenesis (our long term goal). We propose those specific aims to test the hypothesis that Cn evolves a distinct Cin1 endocytic pathway necessary for pathogenesis (short term goal). Through studying a fundamental cellular process and its adaptation to pathogenesis of Cn, our investigation could lead to the discovery of novel antifungal targets. 2. • 34. Renewable Energy Is Not The Answer Renewable Energy Is Not the Answer Renewable Energy is defined as: a renewable natural resource or source of energy, such as water, wind, or solar power (Oxford English Dictionary). There are those that believe that our nation should abandon the use of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas, and coal, and switch to renewable energysources. Although the change could yield many benefits, I believe that renewable energy is a not viable alternative for our nation s energy future because it would create an unfavorable environmental impact, it is not as reliable, and it would be too costly. Converting to renewable energy sources would have a devastating environmental impact. In addition to solar panels, wind turbines and hydroelectric dams would make up the largest portion of renewable energy generation. Wind farms create hazards in their areas of operation. They consume up to 200 times as much land as gas fired power plants (Langwith). If 25 percent of our nation s energy came from wind, the turbines would kill more than a million birds each year (Langwith). Experts have been unable to find a solution to this problem. Hydroelectric dams are harmful to the habitats of many fish. For example, the Bonneville Power Administration has an expensive program of capturing fish and moving them around its Columbia River dams. Their goal is to recover and preserve the Pacific Northwest Salmon. This creates a huge cost to fisheries and causes many environmentalists to support non hydro ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Zou [4] proposed technique of film grain noise which is inherent in analog film stock and is generated in the process of exposing and developing silver halide crystals. Film grain noise can be modeled as a zero mean Gaussian noise and the noise variance varies with the intensity of noise free signal. Film grainnoise is temporally independent. Film grain noise is spatially correlated. The higher the image resolution is, the more likely that the viewer will perceive the film grain noise. For high definition videos, the film grain noise is clearly noticeable, and it is the essential part of the natural look of the video, thus, it is desired to maintain in the encoded video. Then, having returned to New York in 1938, he joined the Federal Theater Project. But, before his first play had been produced, the Project ended. Dismayed and setback, he went to work in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Here he wrote radio scripts that were later heard in the Columbia Workshop and on the Calvacade of America. He also wrote two books during this period: Situation Normal (1944) and Focus, two novels about anti Semitism (1945). He had not, however, given up playwriting. In November of 1944, his play, The Man Who Had All the Luck opened on Broadway. Unfortunately it became much less of a success than he had hoped. Its unfavorable reception disheartened Miller, and he decided he would write one more play. If that were not successful, he would give up. Instead of being studied as valid and meaningful responses to the universal terms of human existence, African religions have often been considered exotic objects... peculiar and incomprehensible or repellent. For many Europeans, Christianitywas by far the superior religion, and they strove to convert Africans. One kingdom where they seemed to enjoy success was Kongo. By 1704, the people living there had been Catholic for six generations nearly two centuries. The Kongolese took great pride in this, believing that it made them superior to their neighbours. Moreover, both the Kongolese and the Church took pride in the fact that Christianity had come to Kongo not through conquest and forced conversion, but through the voluntary conversion of JoГЈo I. Despite this achievement, though, the Church more the Kongolese had to practice Catholicism exactly as the Europeans did. With the coming of Dona Beatriz Kimpa Vita, who claimed to be possessed by Saint Anthony, this conflict would become more apparent than ever before. Though the Capuchins succeeded in having Dona Beatriz burnt at the stake, they failed in their ultimate goal of fully converting the Kongolese to their form of Catholicism. Jung deemed that Freud was fixated on aggression and sexuality being the motivating dynamic in his theories. He also thought that Freud was excessively negative towards the theory of the unconscious. Activation of guanylyl cyclase produces high levels of c GMP, and this was attributed to the actions of carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide acts as a physiological vasodilator in hepatic microcirculation. In contrast, up regulated inducible HO 1 mRNA expression was detected in the right ventricle in animal model of congestive heart failure. A hallmark in the pathogenesis is the pronounced splanchnic arterial vasodilatation and reduced systemic vascular resistance (SVR) (MГёller and, Henriksen, 2008). In this setting, cardiac pressures are largely normal, at least in part, because the reduced after load protects systolic function. This circulatory state resembles certain high output states resulting from increased blood volume and defined as a hyperdynamic unloaded failure of the heart. The distinction is that the hyperdynamic circulation in cirrhosis is due to the low SVR and increased arterial compliance (Timoh et al., 2011). Administration of vasoconstrictors, such as angiotensin II and terlipressin, increases the SVR and thereby the left ventricular afterload unmasking a latent left ventricular dysfunction in cirrhosis. On the other hand, vasodilators, like angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and other afterload reducing agents, should be used cautiously due to the risk of more aggravation of the vasodilatory state (Krag et al., 2010).
