A Brief Note On Justice And Environmental Cleanup

Research Paper
Justice Through Environmental Cleanup
I belong to a proud people called the Ogoni people. The Ogoni people are a minority tribe that s in
the Southeast of Nigeria and they happen to own most of the vast oil reserves in Nigeria. Why does
this matter you ask? Well because they ve been economically exploited, suffered environmental
degradation and political marginalization in Nigeria for fighting for the right to self determine
their destiny and keep control of their resources. Shell, a oil company that was founded in 1907
when the Dutch company practiced unfriendly environmental practices while drilling oil where
people were living. This caused oil spills and polluted the water and land that was used to
produce fruits and vegetables. Nigeria also allowed these practices to go on because a lot of
Nigeria s wealth came from oil. The Nigerian government also supported the efforts of Shell to
get rid of the Ogoni so that they can continue to take the oil without any consequences. With the
help of Shell and the Nigerian government the Ogonis were forced to go out of Nigeria as exiles.
My dad came here as a refugee and I was born here. While many see that some parts of the world
are doing fairly well and operate in a democracy, I believe that we as a world community should
rally behind human rights and address the degradation and devastation that has plagued the Ogoni
community and other indigenous

A Brief Note On High Performance Computing ) Frameworks...
HPC (high performance computing) frameworks are based on both software and hardware
platforms. The mechanism called fault tolerance is nothing but process which allows system
(frequently software based) to continue working properly in case of failure of its components (one
or more faults) on MPI (message passing interface). In HPC systems like grid computing, cloud
computing etc. fault tolerancemethod highly applicable in order to ensure that long operating
applications are finished their tasks according to time. Therefore, there are different types of fault
tolerance methods introduced in literature.
The goal of this section is to present the study on various fault tolerance methods with its working
and issues associated for HPC systems on MPI computations. Fault tolerance methods are basically
divided into five main research points listed below:
Migration methods
Redundancy methods
Failure masking methods
Failure semantic methods
Recovery methods

Initial Public Offerings Introduction And Three Ipos Essay
Initial Public Offerings Introduction and Three IPOs
IPO stands for initial public offer; it is offered by a new publicly listed company of share, and
occurs when a company goes from being privately held to publicly owned with shares trading on
stock market. IPO could fund for new companies. It s a cheaper way to raise funds than issuing
bonds and borrowing from banks, but required funding will not be raised when people don t buy
its share (Viney 2015). Although Australian IPO is not as stable as in China, always increasing in
the first a few days, it still attracts many investors.
A company has to meet ASX listing requirements in order to be listed. ASX requires a company s
minimum investment value, current annual profit, required documents and many other factors
(ASX 2016). Some people suggest the strict rule limits young companies to grow and be listed, but
it reduces some risk for investors and stock market.
A company has satisfied ASX listing rule may step to listing process. The whole process may
take 5 months. Basically, company will find an advisor, a stockbroker or investment bank. The
bank will recommend the timing and pricing of share, and help to prepare a prospectus. The
prospectus is a critical component of the listing process, with detail of past and forecast
performances of the company. Secondly, the company should lodge the prospector with ASIC, and
during a seven day exposure time the prospectus is made available for public review and comment.
Then lodge

Essay on The Effects of Plagues
The Effects of Plagues
The effects of the plagues differed from one region to another according to the forms of
agriculture practised and local economic conditions. So we should be very careful about making
broad generalisations. As one might expect the kill rate was lower in the countryside than it was
in the towns, but it was still significant. In a selection of Essex manors hit in 1349 the range was
between 25% at Market Roding rising to 54% at High Easter. Medieval Essex was highly
manorialised and close to the main trade routes out of London and along the Essex coast and
therefore more vulnerable. Overall rural mortality is thought to have been around 30% for those
parts of Europe affected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the following autumn no one could get a reaper for less than 8d with food, a mower for less than
12d with food. For this reason many crops perished in the fields for lack of harvesters. But in the
year of the plague, as is explained above, there was so great and abundance of all kinds of corn that
they were scarcely regarded.
Knighton also records a dramatic fall in the price . A great cheapness of all things for fear of death,
for few took any account of riches or of possessions of any kind.
It was a sad irony that the harvest of 1348 was a good one, but in many places there was either no
one to reap it, or those who had survived were so shocked that they were unable to organise
themselves for the harvest. Many decided that it was only a matter of time before they too would
die from the plague and so decided to enjoy themselves whilst they could. What happened in the
Siena of Agnolo di Tura was probably true of most of Europe: each person lived according to his
own caprice, and everyone tended to seek pleasure in eating and drinking, hunting, catching birds,
and gaming
The most obvious consequence of the economic crisis was that the population explosion of the
thirteenth century was reversed. At first by increasingly

Benefits Of Flags In College Football
Another flag. You serious. He was just celebrating! If this keeps up I m done with the NFL, and
on to college football . Is this ever you? I have found myself many times wondering what is so
bad about celebrating and why was it worth a flag. I think it gets old seeing flags for celebration
for a reason that hurts no one. To me the flags take the fun out of the game, and it makes players
and fans mad to see flags for cool celebrations. If the National Football Leaguedoesn t change this,
they will lose fans, and fun, and maybe some players.
To me and many others this is just hurting the game. The players have fun celebrating, and
encourages the players with them to have fun and relax also. So why would they flag something
that encourages teammates? I play football and celebrating with teammates can get you excited to
keep going. Plus flags make kids and fans in a bad mood which can affect their behavior at the
stadium or at home. I wouldn t want to be the parent of a mad child because their team lost because
of celebration flags. Honestly that may not happen, but it is the NFL, who knows what can happen.

I know this doesn t make me as a fan happy. I love football, but hate unnecessary flags! This also
doesn t make players happy. Tight End Vernon Davis of the Washington Redskins said, It doesn t

Cornerback Kevin Johnson of the Houston Texans said Man, there is no telling what I ll do
(Kahler). He is talking about what celebrations he will do that are allowed. This also make the
NFL coaches angry because they don t like flags for something that makes the team more
energized. Bill O Brien was mad when the refs called a flag for his team celebrating when they

A.For this survey, personal interviews are the best technique to gather the data. Personal interviews
allow interviewers to ask respondents open ended questions. Interviewers can ask respondent to
clarify and ask for more detailed information if needed. This allows for Montgomery College to get
a better understanding of what MC students are looking for in their prefer food options and eating
environment.
B.Simple Random Sample will allow every member of the population to have a known and equal
chance of selection. This is the best sampling approach because the data will most likely represent
the entire population of the MC student body. This will allow Montgomery College to zero in on

Police Brutality in Anywhere, USA Essay
After our marching band s performance at a football game was cancelled because of lightning,
about six or seven of the band members (including a few student leaders) sat around shooting the
breeze, not fighting, not smoking, not drinking, not being loud. An unmarked police car rolled up
and our conversation stopped as we turned our attention to him.
In an acrid and condescending tone, the policeman pointed a finger to the exit of the parking lot
and said, Out.
Okay, just give us a moment to figure out what we can do, we replied. We wondered if Friendly s

The officer, frantic and quite enraged at his own idiocy, pointed a menacing finger at me, Let me

Why do want to see my ID? I asked, because I was the passenger.
Let me see your ID! he demanded. I asked why again, reminding him that it was a legitimate
question. Getting the same non answer, I started to hand him my license. He all but ripped it from
my hand.
And may I have your name? I asked. He is Detective X.
A fine representation of the Marching Knights you are! he yelled. I must have missed the meeting
that decided nothing cordial will be said by, and no questions will be asked of, an officer of the
law. Even though my parents pay him his salary, he is above acting like a decent human being.
His last name sounded familiar. I should have known better than to ask if I knew his son. The
officer s eyes widened and he yelled, You leave my family out of this! I guess that was his way of
saying yes.
As three more police cars showed up, Officer X instructed everyone to go home except for me
and my friend. He said he knew everyone had junior licenses and would be out past curfew, when
actually the only one who did was rear ended by a cop, which caused him to stay out way past
curfew (nice irony). Officer X also suggested, very rudely, that a

Strategic Strategy Of Lenovo
3.1 Recommended Future strategic direction to attain competitive advantage 3.1.1 Proposed
strategy It is important for a company to choose a relevant internationalization strategy in order to
attain competitive advantage. Basically, competitive advantage is a company s ability to perform
in one or more ways that competitors cannot or will not match (Philip Kotler, Gary Armstrong,
2007, p182) As Lenovo has been successfully internationalizing into other country by using joint

This is because Lenovo is offering an affordable price through direct exporting which related to
the cost leadership strategy. The Cost leadership is an effective business level strategy to the
extent that a firm offers low prices, provides satisfactory quality, and attracts enough customers

maintain the company s profit and expand their market share which Lenovo would be able to do
if they using direct exporting. Besides, the cost leadership strategy also makes it difficult for new
companies to enter the market because of thin profit margin. (Huebsch, 2016) However, if Lenovo

because focusing on price can make the company lose sight of evolving customer tastes and
preferences which eventually makes them to buy other product that Lenovo s. (Huebsch, 2016)

product doesn t have to be in line of sight to be detected. A product can be tracked within up to 100

In 1960s, RFID began to advance which led companies to use the technology for anti theft
purposes. Electronic article surveillance tags uses radio waves to find out whether a customer
had paid for the item. When someone tries to walk out with an item that wasn t paid for, it gets
detected by the reader at the door resulting an alarm. In 1973, the first US patent was issued for
an active RFID tag. A RFID tag is saved with a unique numbers which gets broadcasted by a card
with the transponder. Therefore, the door would unlock when the reader detects the unique
number from the RFID tag. This technology was licensed to different companies, mainly door
lock makers. The US government started using RFID to track nuclear materials in the 1970s.
The department of Agriculture expands the passive RFID technology to mark cows. The cows
were fed with various kinds of medicines and hormones and it is so hard to track how many
doses each cow received. A passive RFID solved the problem of cows not getting overdosed
through the use UHF radio waves. After, smaller transponders were created that could be
injected under a cow s skin. They still use this technology in cows now days. These low
frequency transponder is also used in readers for building access. Later, the commercializing of
high frequency enabled companies to have faster data transfer and more range. Today, 13.56 MHz

Structural approaches may also be necessary to protect coastal areas. Preparedness includes the
education of populations. People need to know the dangers and what they can do to avoid them.
In Florida, evacuation routes have been prepared and cyclone shelters are clearly signed and
posted. Planning includes land use planning. This regulation is used to reduce the vulnerability of
people and property so for example, only low value land uses (recreational) can occupy coastal
strips, the areas most vulnerable to a storm. In Northeast Florida, coastal properties have been
rallied above the ground on stilts and have non residential functions on the ground (storage). This
means that hazards like the storm surges do not impact the people and less damage occurs to
infrastructure. Warning systems put in place to predict incoming storms inform the public about
them. This is linked with the effectiveness of the government and how developed the country is. A
less developed country is less likely to have the money to be able to afford such technology and
equipment meaning that no matter what form of planning or preparedness occurs, mitigation is less
likely to be achieved. More developed countries have the money to install advanced technology and
equipment to ensure that their population can be warned meaning that lives can be saved. In late
August 2005, Hurricane Katrina swept onto the coast of Louisiana with winds of over 160km per

Fitzgerald s Use of Language in The Great Gatsby Essay
In the novel The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald uses tone, diction, syntax and imagery to voice Nick s
perception of the world around him. In this passage his use of language is used repetitively to
convey Jordan Baker, Daisy and Tom Buchanan s lives. On the outside it may look like they all
are living a perfect and ideal life, however Fitzgerald s illuminating use of language highlights
how far from perfect their lives truly are. When he first walks in Nick judges Tom and Daisy s
lives based on the appearance of the house, perfect and romanticized, yet he soon learns that this
first impression is an overstatement. Nick s use of diction such as fragilely bound (12) and French

motif in this passage is the color white. Nick states white in two different meanings, at the
beginning of the passage ?white? is used to reflect elegance and purity but as Nick spends more
time the ?white? in the house he learns that the color symbolizes the stereotypical façade that
every character is hiding behind, a dull, vacuous, and bland guise. Fitzgerald uses white to
express the many personalities, such as those of Daisy and Jordan. Interestingly, the white
appearance would imply purity and innocence, which are, unfortunately, words that can not be
remotely associated with either one. They can?t be associated with Daisy and Jordan because
they both are the exact opposite of purity and innocence. Daisy is purely corrupted by money and
society, her ?absurd, charming little laugh? (13) connotes her fakeness. Nick views Jordan as an
arrogant and proud woman, he sees her as someone who?s trying to exude her independence,
however she seems insubstantial. When describing Daisy, Nick uses the word ?bright? (13 14)
repetitively to suggest her flashy personality, like Tom she too has an aura around her that make

Summary Of The Poem After The War Poem
When faced with the countless problems of war including death, disease, sorrow, and loss,
soldiers develop and intense bond between one another as they seek support in one another. A
brotherhood is formed among these soldiers who rely on one another for protection and
companionship amid a time in their lives where they are faced with the constant threat of death and
violence everyday of their lives. But what happens to them after the war? In After the War, poet
brings awareness to how the war torn soldier attempts to reestablish their self in a society they have
been isolated from for so many years through use of free verse and repetitive phrases, which further
reinforces the theme throughout the poem.
Use of free verse in this poem creates a lack of structure that appears to parallel the soldier s own
lack of structure and direction in his own life after he leaves the war. The poem begins with the
image of a soldier s and his squadron raiding a farmhouse:
When he got to the farmhouse, he rifled through the cabinets, drawers, and cupboards, and his
buddies did too. The place was abandoned, or so he thought, and his buddies did too.
The first stanza connotes a slight sense structure as the phrase and his buddies did too is repeated
after stating each action the soldier does. Moreover, the lines themselves are structured in such a
way that suggests a deliberate organized form especially in comparison to how the rest of the poem
is written. Most interesting about the

We lose the ability to spell, use proper grammar, or even punctuation. One of the biggest
problems with social media is the unwanted problems in a relationship. People spend way too
much time on their devices and instead of spending their much needed free time with their
families. Using social media during family time is not good family practice. Social media may
help with some everyday activities but during family time can be unacceptable for some people
and may actually hurt their feelings. This can also make the other party feel unimportant or
ignored, creating a tense barrier in a relationship. This is something that I myself have to work
on. My family says I spend way too much time on my cell phone looking onto Facebook. One
might think that he/she doesn t spend a lot of time on the social media but we do. It can at times
be addicting, The newsfeed on your time line is almost never ending, making you

The part of the intense father is filled in the hero Winston s creative energy by the anticipated

Truman Show Techniques
The Truman Show Sequence 14 Search In the film The Truman Show directed by Peter Weir, in a
sequence of events in which the protagonist, Truman Burbank, goes missing. Which in effect
causes everyone in the vicinity of his last known location to assure search positions in effort to
locate and retrieve him. This sequence uses several film techniques to add to the atmosphere and
mood of this moments with the intention of comparing these events to ones of WWII concentration
camps. This Intention I believe is used to show and compare the conditions in which the protagonist
and victims of concentration camps were treated. The techniques that are used to achieve this
intention are the lighting,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This information has been proven throughout the show as everywhere truman goes are messages
that warn travelers about the dangers of flying and that he has a fear of water but is on an island,
but this fact is proven most in the sequence in which truman tries to escape from the island but as
he finds out there are layers upon layers of feature installed to stop him from leaving. This
sequence in which truman is being hunted the people who are hunting him have fallen into a
rhythmic march. This helps to reinforce the image that these people are guards. This is done in the
way that they are marching which military personnel are trained to do. This marching also adds to
the fact that they are no different from one another as they are all partaking in this singular activity.
Also there is music that has been put in over this sequence, the type of music that gives the viewer
the impression that a military activity is occurring, this technique adds even further to the analogy
that the pursuers are guards but not just prison guards they are guards of a concentration

Resistance Of Change And Change Management
Resistance to Change
NASA had a firm hierarchy and this brought about a lot of resistance to change from people.
NASA could have gotten more of the people involved in the changes. I find that by getting people
involved and having some key people or champions to support the change, there is less resistance.
People want to feel involved and a part of decisions, especially if it impacts them directly. When it
comes to successful change management, get people involved earlier, which will contribute to
greater buy in and acceptance. Keep in mind that this should not be the sole solution for employee
resistance; successful change management is about understanding the true nature of the resistance.
Often times change management can be so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Change implementation entails identifying the structure as is, present problems, current process
and its resources as well as how resources are coupled to the system. Deep thought process needs
to be undertaken to see the impact of replacing systems, process, and resources with another one.
Furthermore, before that an analysis needs to be performed identifying the possible alternative
and how that will address the issue and improve the overall mechanism (Creasey, 2014). However,
these analyses were not performed in this NASA episode. The recommendation was just laid over.
As mentioned in the case study, there was a lot of pressure on the contractors and staff by keeping
current schedules instead of revising and reducing some of the pressure. This statement clearly
states that the primary issue of (as is issue) unrealistic flight schedules were retained, resulting in
less focus on quality and heavy pressure on employees to perform. The managers still were the
same and added outsourcing process, which became disastrous as they were not monitored and
controlled enough. Did the change actually happen? The answer is a typical no. There was one
more disaster, now Columbia shuttle. The Primary reason behind that is again unrealistic schedule
planning, leading to low focus on quality and high pressure. Management did not encourage people

Investigation Of Using Dual Stack And Tunneling Mechanisms
Investigations of using Dual Stack and Tunneling Mechanisms in migration from IPV4 to IPV6:
Abstract
Introduction
Internet protocol written as IP in the short form is the method by which one computer
communicates by sending data to another computer over the Internet. Normally, each computer has
a unique form of IP address that identifies itself on the internet. Internet protocol has two versions:
Internet protocol version 4 and Internet protocol version 6 that is the most current version of IPV6
is an upgrade of IPV4 (Gavrilova 2006). IPV6 has added advantages and therefore necessitates
every organization to migrate from IPV4 to IPV6.
Background of the study
The internet protocol version 4 abbreviated as IPV4 is a connectionless protocol ... Show more

IPV6 is not a rigid IP as it allows for the growth of the internet concerning the number of
interconnected computers or hosts and the volume of data transmitted (Kott, Wang, Erbacher
2014). The primary advantage of the IPV6 over IPV4 is the increase in IP addresses. However, there
are other advantages of IPV6 which include: automatic configuration, simplified and more efficient
routing, Simpler header format, flow labeling, easier administration, Flexible options and
extensions, privacy support and inbuilt authentication and an end to network address translation
(Adibi, Mobasher, Tofigh 2010).
Objective/Aim of the Study
As Zurawski (2005) explains, an organization s network status and the speed at which they need the
IPV4 transition to IPV6 greatly determine the selection of the transition method, the dual stack
method, tunneling method or any available option.
This paper seeks to explore how the transition methods; the dual stack method and tunneling
method works. Businesses with small network devices and bleeding edge technology can
promulgate to IPV6 faster compared to businesses with large network devices. Large companies
usually have many and large network devices, leading to slow Ipv4 to IPV6 transition process
(Jonas, Rai, Tchuente 2013). Following the multiple benefits resulting from IPV6, it is therefore,
important that network practitioners should seek expertise in IPV6 quickly in order to meet

California Is The Highest Amount Of Electoral Voters
In United State, there are two big political parties which are the Republican and the Democrat.
They have been dominating the country as majority of the President of the United States are from
these two parties. In history, we know that California was the 31st state of the United States and
was admitted official on September 9, 1850. Californiais the most populated states in the United
Stateswhich is located at the West Coast of the United States. Due to this, the politic in California
has a big effect to the country. As we all know, California has the highest amount of electoral
voters. As California is a huge state, there is a need to understand the state political landscape.
Prior to the 1980 s, the state was largely divided on a North South Axis. Before that, Democrats
only dominated the Bay Area and part of Los Angeles County. At that time, most of Southern
Californians were Republican Supporter. At the same time, the Central Valley was sparsely
populated. This means that it is hard to know which political mindset they have. An example
would be the state divided over peripheral canal which was passes in the south while 97% vote
against in the north. As time passed, California has transform from a North South divide to a new
East West divide. This political divide can be proof that Democrats control all coastal districts
north of Ventura County which change from Republican control 14 in 1990. Democrats are also
controlling two seats in San Diego County. 13 of 19

Today s schools have standardized promotion requirements in the hopes that all students will be

Additionally, the state of Ohio uses these proficiency tests to evaluate the schools themselves. The
schools must pass all areas to retain accreditation. Approximately 93% of schools evaluated are
failing in at least one area (1998 99 1). This creates problems, as teachers, under pressure to perform
well, tend to teach toward the tests. Instead of having fun with their students and exploring areas
related to the topic, the teacher focuses on the areas the students will be tested over. That is, their
curriculum loses its wide range and tunnels towards the information covered on the tests. This
tunneling tends to narrow our children s education.
The percentages of failures indicate change is needed. A new form of educating our children,
which is really a return to the schoolhouse type of education, is Mixed Age Education. MAE is
an educational program built on the premise that different children learn different things at
different rates. This program allows children to be organized not by age, but by skill level. The
groups are generally divided into K 2 and 3 5. A child may be in Kindergarten level math and first
level reading or fourth grade science and fifth grade English. The child s progress is frequently
assessed for trouble areas and to determine when he or she is ready to advance to the next level in
each individual area of teaching. A child s progress is

Analysis of Starbucks Supply Chain
Abstract
Seattle based coffee chain founded in 1971, with over 21,000 stores world wide, and 12,218
locations in the United States.
This report will analyze and discuss the Manufacturing process that begins with procuring raw
material (i.e. coffee beans), transporting the raw material to roasting plants, and manufacturing and
packaging the end product for consumption by the retail stores.
Starbucks has to closely monitor and follow the guidelines of the Drug Administration (FDA), the
Department of Agriculture and Occupation Safety and Health Act (OSHA) in order to own,
operate, and open new stores.
In 2008, Starbucks identified that the majority of its cost and expenses rooted from the distribution
of supplies. They have introduced the 3PLs (Third Party Logistics) reducing and eliminated third
party venders without creating defects in the short and long run.
CEO Howard Schultz and his management team sought out to simplify the complex process that

Critical Reasoning And Battle Of Thermopylae
Critical Reasoning and Battle Analysis of the Battle of Thermopylae
One of the most historic battles fought in the 5th century BC was the Battle of Thermopylae. The
Greeks and Persians battled for control of a narrow pass located at Thermopylae. This pass served
as the most direct route into mainland Greece and allowed freedom of maneuver to the Persians.
The Persians received a critical piece of human intelligence that allowed them to defeat the Greeks
at the pass. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the battle and determine an alternate outcome
based on the use of that intelligence.
The Battle of Thermopylae
Definition of the Battle
The Battle of Thermopylae took place in 5th century BC in Northern Greece. The primary
adversaries were the Persians and the Greeks. The Persian army, led by Xerxes I, far outnumbered
the Greek forces. Despite this, the Greeks were able to maintain control of the pass for three days.
The Settings of the Battle
Strategic and operational overview. The battle of Thermopylae was one of many battles fought by
the Persians in the quest to expand their empire, and the second in their quest to rule Greece. The
Greeks fought at the battle of Thermopylae to maintain rule of their own land and resist
submission to the Persians. In 491 BC, King Darius of Persia sent messengers to demand the
Greeks submit to Persian rule. The Greeks refused and incited the first battle in the war between
Persia and Greece. This battle, fought at Marathon

Nature Overcomes Man In Jack London s To Build A Fire
Nature overcomes man. Jack London, the author of To Build a Fire, depicts this theme in his
short story. In To Build a Fire London s character who has no given name travels Yukon with no
one but his Husky to meet some of his friends. Despite warning to not travel alone in such frigid
temperatures, he makes the journey anyways and finds himself at the mercy of mother nature. In
such cold circumstances and having stepped in water, the man attempts to build a fire. Having
failed to start a fire to thaw out his hands and feet, he grows anxious and runs around trying to
bring the feeling back into his limbs. A realization dawns on the man that he is going to die, so he
calms down and decides to die with dignity. He lays down and meets his end as his husky watches
nearby. London uses his characters survival instincts, the story s setting, and the husky to illustrate
the theme: humankind cannot overcome nature.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the man grows fearful and he begins to accept that his attempts to build a fire were of no use,
he starts thinking through his options. Having remembered an old tale at the sight of his husky,
he decides to kill the animal and defrost his hands inside of it until he is able enough to start a
fire. He got a hold of the animal but not long after he realize[s] that he [can] not kill the dog. There
was no way to do it. With his helpless hands he could neither draw nor hold his sheath knife nor
throttle the animal (London, p. 608). London presents his theme through the characters survival
instincts. The character has a solution but even with this choice nature is still too powerful to
overcome, because his fingers were so frostbitten and numb that he was unable to grip the knife or
the dog to save himself. Similarly, the story s setting is another aspect that London uses to show the

The Effect Of Digital Analog Audio Signal Processing
Abstract
As technology advances, the research of digital signal processing is undergoing rapid development.
At present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics
applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP
application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech
enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc..
With the development of IT technology and voice processing technology, people have more and
more high quality requirements of audio. However, the traditional analog audio signal processing
has been impossible to meet people s needs, at this time, digital signal processing began to ... Show

In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system
which based on DSP technology.
In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a
numerical system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain
characteristics of unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter,
infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the
IIR filter, the FIR filter has just one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin,
so it is always stable and can be easily realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase
property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is
widely used in the field of high fidelity signal processing, such as digital audio, image processing,
data transmission, biomedical and other fields.
This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can
do sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve
the system will be put forward.
Key word: DSP, Audio signal processing, FIR filter

The Evolution Of Health Care
What is quality in health care? We can divide it into three elements:
1. Care by practitioners and other providers which means receive correct diagnosis and an
appropriate strategy of care from practitioners; and convenience, comfort, quite, privacy, food etc.
from care providers.
2. Care Implemented by patient that means patient should take care not only for him or herself but
also for his or her family. It is patient s responsibility if he or she succeed or fail of getting health
care.
3. Care received by community as the whole. People should judge the social distribution of
levels of quality in the community. It depends on who has an access more or less to care and
after having access, receiving it in good or low quality. The evolution of health care in the
United States started over 300 years ago. It is divided into six main important eras: the
charitable, the educational era, the insurance era, the government era, the managed care era and
the consumerism era. The charitable includes period from about 1700 to about 1830. In the
beginning of this period, health care was provided voluntarily in public houses mostly for needy
citizens. Those who had money could afford seen or treated at homes. The firs hospital was built
in Philadelphia in 1752, after about 40 years hospital in New York opened their doors for people
who need a treat. At the same time in New York state passed licensure act that person who wants to

The Woman Warrior, introduces various themes that recur throughout the story. Through the

starting off with a story that her mother, Brave Orchid, told her about her dead and forgotten aunt,

Kingston slips this into the chapter by guessing that her dead aunt s child is female since there
is some hope of forgiveness for boys (Kingston 15). The subject of gender inequality shows up
throughout the novel, such as when Kingston s great uncle takes only the boys out to town, fully
aware that the girls want to come, but leaving them at home hanging [their] coats back up (47).
This issue is a global one; even in modern times, women are seen as inferior to men. In this
memoir, gender inequality is one of the issues that Kingston is attempting to point out to us.
Although not all of the readers are Chinese American, Kingston transcends the cultural barrier to
speak to the reader about her experiences with gender inequality and conflict. In the end of the
novel, Kingston references another story Brave Orchid told her about a poetess named Ts ai Yen.
Similarly to how Kingston rises above barriers to speak to her reader about how certain issues
affected her childhood self, Ts ai Yen is able to overcome a language barrier to make barbarians
understand her emotions through a song she sings. In this way, by integrating gender inequality
into the beginning of the novel, Kingston is able to tie the novel together, and ensure that the
beginning has the seeds of finality in it (Macauley and Lanning

What Is A Random Act Of Kindness
Random Acts Of Kindness That Shouldn t Be Random Many people have a perception that a
deviant act must be something negative that unbalances the norms of society. However that is
not always the case, a deviant act could be one that is positive. According to Merriam Webster
deviant is defined as different from what is considered to be normal or morally correct. So it
comes down to what is considered to be normal behavior, and believe it or not going out of your
own way to help others or being randomly kind to strangers is not considered to be normal. Why
though, why do these acts of kindness towards others have the potential to be reacted to in a

Napalm In Vietnam War
Fire has been used in battle as far back as the Greeks in 7th century A.D, but the most devastating
use of fire warfare was when Napalm used by the United States in World War two against the
Japanese and again in the Vietnam War. Flame throwers were used in World War One, but the
problem was that it burned too quick because of the gasoline mixture that was used to produce
the flame. In 1942 a team of Harvard researchers that was led by Dr. Louis Fieser discovered that
a mixture of rubber with the gasoline made a flame that burned longer, but rubber was would

from the whole musicality of the scene and adds to the unforeseen idea of each progression. It
makes a moment dynamic. The principal dynamic is their private, fragile discussion, and the

Normative Ulnar Nerve Conduction Analysis Essay
Normative ulnar nerve conduction study; comparison of two measurements methods
Introduction
Ulnar neuropathy is one of the most common entrapment neuropathis. It is mainly presented with
weakness of ulnar innervated muscles and parasthesis of the 4th and 5th digits(1). The п¬Ѓrst
dorsal interosseous (FDI) and the abductor digiti minimi (ADM) are the two muscles which
frequently impaired .The neuropathy has a heteregenoues clinical presentation based on different
involvement of fascicles within the ulnar nerve(2,3).
Diagnosis of the neuropathy is based on clinical and electrodiagnostic findings. Electrodiagnosis is
typically performed to localize the nerve damage at the elbow and to determine the severity of
nerve involvement. Evidences demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our results were not similar to the findings of Azma et al or Ehler et al. Mean differences between
ADM and FDI at forearm and elbow were 1.38 and 2.13,respectively.Mean differences recorded at

Caliandro et al. have reported that in normal subjects FDI CV is faster than ADM CV. Considering
that the conduction velocity of each axons is associated with the external nerve п¬Ѓbre diameter
,they suggested that , higher diameter of fastest fibers to FDI than ADM could explain the findings.
Moreover, susceptibility to damage is higher in п¬Ѓbres to FDI than ADM(19).
Some studies did not report any significant differences for ulnar nerve MNCV recorded from ADM

Substance Use Disorders Are Chronic And Recurrent. Impulse...
1.6 Guiding principals 1.6.1 Longitudinal data analysis Substance use disorders are chronic and
recurrent. Impulse control, which is a predisposition to and/or a consequence of substance use
disorders, is also a core behavioral domain underlying many HIV risk behaviors. Unlike some
HIV risk behaviors such as engaging in unprotected sex, substance use disorders are more
proximally associated with brain biology. In order to study HIV risk behaviors among injection
drug users, we will use the data in a longitudinal manner rather than reducing the data to a cross
section or single measure (e.g., lifetime dependence). The reason is that a longitudinal data
provides more valuable information about the long term trajectories of the HIV risk behaviors of
injection drug users. This information may yield a phenotype that reflects severity and intensity in
a way that is more strongly related to the underlying biology of the trait. Using longitudinal ALIVE
injection data, we borrow the concept of pack years to create our phenotype, injection years,
(Caporaso et al., 2009) and analyze the composite HIV risk phenotypes of the trajectories of the
participants. (Smith et al., 2015) The lives and relationships of injection drug users tend toward
instability; hence, there exists virtually no perfect attendance record for any single participant in
this study. For this thesis, we accessed the ALIVE cohort, a longitudinal community based study,
and we use statistical approaches to impute the

Blackwood Vs Holmes
ВЁ You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear. this quote from A Scandal in Bohemia
shows that some people do not observe, they just look at the obvious. All the clues and hint that are
in the movies and stories that the villains have left , Watson just looks at everything around him
unlike Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is able to identify who the culprit is throughout the short
stories and the films that we watched in class. Both of these movies, Sherlock Holmes and The
Great Mouse Detective, have antagonists that are represented in different ways.
In the movie Sherlock Holmes the villain is named Blackwood and in The Great Mouse Detective
the villain is Professor Ratigan. In all of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s stories there is always a
villain or a suspect. Blackwood in the film Sherlock Holmes and Professor Ratigan in The Great
Mouse Detective were both out to achieve a similar goal . Both of the characters in these movies
have similarities, but both of the characters also have differences as well. While Blackwood in
Sherlock Holmes is a human, Ratigan is a rat in The Great Mouse Detective. The two characters
have goals during the films that want to achieve. The films the villains have ... Show more content

The Case for Contamination by Kwame Anthony Appiah
Being raised in Ghana, receiving higher education in England and working as a professor in the
United States certainly helped Kwame Anthony Appiah receive a fair share of different cultures.
Appiah is a recognized philosopher with several published books and an impressive track record
of accomplishments. His article The Case for Contamination, which was published in The New
York Times, speaks of the topic of how globalizationaffects individuals in many aspects of their
life. He discusses how forcefully preserving cultures can harm a culturemore than help it. While
the article is lengthy, it goes into great detail about how globalization affects people in countries
all over the world, even Ghana. Globalization makes a large impact on the world we see today
and cultural groups can benefit from the effects of globalization because it promotes diversity,
creates cosmopolitan citizen development, and allows economic growth. Think of the term
globalization . Your first thought may be of people from all corners of the Earth exchanging ideas,
views, products, and so much more. Appiah introduces his article by describing a scene of a
traditional Wednesday festival in the town of Kumasi. He allows the reader to visualize the
traditions held by those in attendance but begins his case by providing details of men on their
cellphones and holding conversations on contemporary topics such as H.I.V/AIDS. When Appiah
speaks of contamination, he highlights the way one culture is

What Are African American Stereotypes
What African American stereotype is talked about daily? Everyday stereotypes are given to
African Americans because of their skin color and the history they have had in our nation. I
challenge African American stereotypes because of my song taste and my Lack of involvement
in sports. In today s society African Americans are expected to listen to Hip hop when honestly
not all of us do. I personally don t listen to rap much at all. Don t get me wrong I don t hate it but
it s not in my top 25 favorite songs category. I listen to hardcore stuff weather that would be metal
or electronic music like dubstep. It bothers me when people are shocked that I listen to that kind of
music when music is meant for everyone not for just

Difference Between Horror And Horror Movies
Horror, crime and thriller movies are three entirely different genres, but they share some
similarities. Crime movies typically focus on a hero and the chase of a criminal. In the end, the
protagonist solves the crime. On the other hand, horror movies usually focus on the dark side of
life. Evil spirits or supernatural powers often creates destruction, but the protagonist defeats them.
The end of the film, however, suggests that such forces will likely come back. The horror films
are designed to get frightened and give panic attacks to the viewers. Again, the thriller is a genre
that revolves expectation and suspension. Marion Crane and Norman Bates crimes, guessing
Norman s crimes committed by his mother, the protagonist(Marion s boyfriend and sister) solving
the crime, suspect ends up in jail and not having any lead that he could get out of jail make Psycho
more of a crime/thriller than a horror movie. At the beginning of Psycho, we see Marion Crane
steals forty thousand dollars from her boss and runs to be with her boyfriend. So, the movie
starts with a crime scene. Later, we get to see that she gets killed by Norman Bates who has an
abnormal behavior. In the meantime, Marion s boyfriend and her sister find some leads to find
Marion, but they end up getting information about Norman Bates. At the end of the movie, Norman
gets locked up in jail, and we figure out of his weird personality. In this movie, the protagonists are

Progressive Movement In American Education
In this paper, the reader will come to understand the pragmatic/progressive movement in the
American educational system. History of the movement and its patriarch, John Dewey, are
explored. Current or modern philosophers, including Nel Noddings, Paulo Freire, David Labaree,
and Richard Mosier are also discussed. Further, the reader shall become familiar with methods of
pragmatic assessment, the role and practices of the progressive instructor, and an overview of
designing curriculum around the tenants of progressivism. At its core, pragmatism is a student
centered philosophy, therefore the focus of this essay will be how a student is theoretically
supposed to gain knowledge from a progressive classroom.
As the Industrial Revolution ushered modernity into America, new schools of thought came along
with it. Among these schools, and arguably the most popular was the Progressive Movement,
which sought to undo the unintended consequences of rapid technological and social
development. The idea of reform at all levels of society to improve the quality of life for everyone
captivated minds, especially that of John Dewey, who sought to apply the progressive philosophy to
the classroom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historian Richard L. McCormick defines the origins of the progressive movement thusly:
Convulsive reform movements swept across the American landscape from the 1890s to 1917.
Angry farmers demanded better prices for their products, regulation of the railroads, and the
destruction of what they thought was the evil power of bankers, middlemen, and corrupt
politicians. Urban citizens crusaded for better city services, more efficient municipal government,
and, sometimes, the control of social groups whose habits they hated and feared. Members of
various professions, such as social workers and doctors, tried to improve the dangerous and
unhealthy conditions in which many people lived and worked. (McCormick, 1986, p.

The Impact Of Media On The Media Industry
Over all this documentary made me feel very defeated and overwhelmed. Possibly it is just my
mood tonight, but it is clear that a few really wealthy companies run the media in the United States.
There has been a decline in small ownership media companies similar to Independent Lens in recent
years. This decline correlates with the Telecommunication Act of 1996 that ended most ownership
restrictions (Campbell, Martin, Fabos, 2014, p. 224). It was thought that this deregulation would
encourage competition in the media market place, instead it had the opposite effect and created
large media conglomerates.
Cooperation s like Time Warner, Disney, and individuals like Rupert Murdoc own multiple media
outlets making it very difficult for other smaller media outlets to afford to advertise enough to stay
in business. Rather than competing, many of these companies hold joint venture investments and it
is not in their best interest to compete with each other. Deregulations in the industry has allowed
these monopolies to become very powerful limiting the impact of the FCC (Rich Media, Poor
Democracy, n.d.).
The film points out that investigative Journalism has been in a steady decline since 1996. Now that
cooperation s own the news stations it is more about profits rather than true investigative reporting
that costs much more than the fluff reporting or getting your news off the wire. News reporters
now have to compete for ratings and advertisers to stay competitive. Cable

New Belgium Brewing And Its Effect On Social Responsibility
New Belgium Brewing or NBB is a brewing company that stands apart from the competition in
many ways. Who would have thought that a brewing company would be thought as an example
of how an ethical and socially responsible company should be ran? The other part that is a
surprise to most is that it is a fairly small corporation. It is nowhere near the size of a giant like
Anheuser Busch. So why is New Belgium so adamant about being different and a step above the
competition? That is the overall focus of this case study. The main three points that will be
discussed throughout the paper are, what environmental issues does the New Belgium Brewing
Company work to address, does NBB s focus on social responsibilityprovide a key competitive
advantage, and can the company really be a socially responsible organization even though it sells
alcoholic beverages?
Let us face the fact, the world will not be around forever, but with the right practices we can keep
it around longer. Big companies use big energy, they provide the public with many services and
products, but need more energy to do it. The push to become more self sufficient and use more
renewable energy is stronger than ever. We are seeing the go green movement taking the US by
storm with more and more companies each year deciding to make the switch. Companies are seeing
that the public is very receptive to companies that are environmentally focused and conscious about
communities. The New Belgium Brewing Company is special

The Ottoman Empire ( 1299 ) Essay
Empire, Ottoman The Ottoman Empire (1299?1923) was a Turkish Muslim state that existed
for more than six hundred years. It was one of the largest and longest lived empires in history,
and it represented one of the greatest civilizations of the modern period. Its territories, at its
height, included Anatolia (part of present day Turkey), the Middle East, parts of East and North
Africa, and southeastern Europe, comprising a total area of more than 22 million square
kilometers (about 8.5 million square miles). The Ottoman state was established by a tribe of
Oghuz Turks as one of many small Turkish principalities that emerged in Anatolia during the
Mongolian breakdown of the Anatolian Seljuk State. The state was ruled by the Ottoman
dynasty of the Kayi tribe. The dynasty was founded by Osman I (ca. 1258?1324; in English,
Ottoman) in S?g??t, in the Marmara region of modern Turkey. THE PERIOD OF
ESTABLISHMENT AND EXPANSION Situated on the borders of the tottering Byzantine
Empire, Osman I quickly became a warrior of Islam, attracting the attention of wandering ghazis,
or warriors for the faith, in Anatolia. In 1299 the Byzantine city Bilecik fell to Turks. This
conquest was followed by the fall of many other Byzantine cities, villages, and forts during the
early 1300s. Some of the nearby Turkish beyliks (principalities) and tribes were also taken over
before Osman s death around 1324. Osman s son Orhan (r. 1326?1362) conquered Bursa in 1326.

overview of the evolution of CALL from the early years of the mainframe computer to the

2 Communicative CALL
What is Communicative CALL?
Communicative CALL is based on the communicative approach to foreign language teaching which
became prominent in the 1970 s and 1980 s.
The communicative approach
1 Is a reaction to the audio lingual approach.
2 Focuses on language as a medium of communication.
3 Recognizes that we use language to get things done: we speak a language in order to
communicate with others (e.g. we want to express likes and dislikes, ask somebody s hobbies, find
directions to a place).
How the Communicative CALL works?
1 Grammar is taught implicitly rather than explicitly.
2 Computers are used to stimulate discussion, writing or critical thinking. Students are encouraged
to generate original utterances rather than just manipulate prefabricated language.
3 The programmes avoid telling students that they are wrong and are flexible to a variety of student

Hormones, Heredity, and Human Behavior

Why do people behave the way they do? What makes us tick? While our environment molds some
of who we are, much more comes from heredity and hormones. Genes passed on to us from our
parents make up heredity, and glands throughout the body produce hormones. As generations
progress, new psychological and behavioral traits are earned and learned. This paper will explain
hormones and the endocrine system, glands associated with the endocrine system, behavior
genetics, and evolutionary psychology.

Hypothyroidism often causes a person to sleep a lot, but the person is still tired. The parathyroids
are located within the thyroid, secrete parathormone, and controls levels of calcium and phosphates
in the body. The parathyroids are also involved with controlling excitability levels (Morris and
Maisto, 2002).
The pancreas is located between the stomach and small intestine, and secretes insulin and
glucagon to balance blood sugar levels in the body. When the pancreas does not work properly, a
person may be diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, which is more commonly known simply as
Diabetes (Morris and Maisto, 2002). People with diabetes suffer from extreme thirst, fatigue, lack
of or increased appetite, and a myriad of other symptoms if their condition is not controlled
properly with diet, exercise, and medications (if needed) (Steadman s Concise Medical Dictionary,
2001).
The gonads are the male and female reproductive organs, the testes (males) and ovaries (females).
The testes and ovaries produce androgens (testosterone) and estrogens, these hormones affect
aggressiveness, mood, and sexual interest and behavior. Higher levels of these hormones have been
shown to promote aggressiveness in both sexes (Morris and Maisto, 2002).
The last glands are the adrenal glands, which are located above the kidneys, and have an inner

  • 2. A Brief Note On Justice And Environmental Cleanup Sordum Deeyaa ENG 1020 Ms. Campbell 29 November 2016 Research Paper Justice Through Environmental Cleanup I belong to a proud people called the Ogoni people. The Ogoni people are a minority tribe that s in the Southeast of Nigeria and they happen to own most of the vast oil reserves in Nigeria. Why does this matter you ask? Well because they ve been economically exploited, suffered environmental degradation and political marginalization in Nigeria for fighting for the right to self determine their destiny and keep control of their resources. Shell, a oil company that was founded in 1907 when the Dutch company practiced unfriendly environmental practices while drilling oil where people were living. This caused oil spills and polluted the water and land that was used to produce fruits and vegetables. Nigeria also allowed these practices to go on because a lot of Nigeria s wealth came from oil. The Nigerian government also supported the efforts of Shell to get rid of the Ogoni so that they can continue to take the oil without any consequences. With the help of Shell and the Nigerian government the Ogonis were forced to go out of Nigeria as exiles. My dad came here as a refugee and I was born here. While many see that some parts of the world are doing fairly well and operate in a democracy, I believe that we as a world community should rally behind human rights and address the degradation and devastation that has plagued the Ogoni community and other indigenous ... • 3. A Brief Note On High Performance Computing ) Frameworks... HPC (high performance computing) frameworks are based on both software and hardware platforms. The mechanism called fault tolerance is nothing but process which allows system (frequently software based) to continue working properly in case of failure of its components (one or more faults) on MPI (message passing interface). In HPC systems like grid computing, cloud computing etc. fault tolerancemethod highly applicable in order to ensure that long operating applications are finished their tasks according to time. Therefore, there are different types of fault tolerance methods introduced in literature. The goal of this section is to present the study on various fault tolerance methods with its working and issues associated for HPC systems on MPI computations. • 4. Initial Public Offerings Introduction And Three Ipos Essay Initial Public Offerings Introduction and Three IPOs IPO stands for initial public offer; it is offered by a new publicly listed company of share, and occurs when a company goes from being privately held to publicly owned with shares trading on stock market. IPO could fund for new companies. It s a cheaper way to raise funds than issuing bonds and borrowing from banks, but required funding will not be raised when people don t buy its share (Viney 2015). Although Australian IPO is not as stable as in China, always increasing in the first a few days, it still attracts many investors. A company has to meet ASX listing requirements in order to be listed. ASX requires a company s minimum investment value, current annual profit, required documents and many other factors (ASX 2016). Some people suggest the strict rule limits young companies to grow and be listed, but it reduces some risk for investors and stock market. A company has satisfied ASX listing rule may step to listing process. The whole process may take 5 months. Basically, company will find an advisor, a stockbroker or investment bank. The bank will recommend the timing and pricing of share, and help to prepare a prospectus. The prospectus is a critical component of the listing process, with detail of past and forecast performances of the company. Secondly, the company should lodge the prospector with ASIC, and during a seven day exposure time the prospectus is made available for public review and comment. Then lodge ... • 5. Essay on The Effects of Plagues The Effects of Plagues The effects of the plagues differed from one region to another according to the forms of agriculture practised and local economic conditions. So we should be very careful about making broad generalisations. As one might expect the kill rate was lower in the countryside than it was in the towns, but it was still significant. In a selection of Essex manors hit in 1349 the range was between 25% at Market Roding rising to 54% at High Easter. Medieval Essex was highly manorialised and close to the main trade routes out of London and along the Essex coast and therefore more vulnerable. Overall rural mortality is thought to have been around 30% for those parts of Europe affected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the following autumn no one could get a reaper for less than 8d with food, a mower for less than 12d with food. For this reason many crops perished in the fields for lack of harvesters. But in the year of the plague, as is explained above, there was so great and abundance of all kinds of corn that they were scarcely regarded. Knighton also records a dramatic fall in the price . A great cheapness of all things for fear of death, for few took any account of riches or of possessions of any kind. It was a sad irony that the harvest of 1348 was a good one, but in many places there was either no one to reap it, or those who had survived were so shocked that they were unable to organise themselves for the harvest. Many decided that it was only a matter of time before they too would die from the plague and so decided to enjoy themselves whilst they could. What happened in the Siena of Agnolo di Tura was probably true of most of Europe: each person lived according to his own caprice, and everyone tended to seek pleasure in eating and drinking, hunting, catching birds, and gaming The most obvious consequence of the economic crisis was that the population explosion of the thirteenth century was reversed. At first by increasingly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Benefits Of Flags In College Football Another flag. You serious. He was just celebrating! If this keeps up I m done with the NFL, and on to college football . Is this ever you? I have found myself many times wondering what is so bad about celebrating and why was it worth a flag. I think it gets old seeing flags for celebration for a reason that hurts no one. To me the flags take the fun out of the game, and it makes players and fans mad to see flags for cool celebrations. If the National Football Leaguedoesn t change this, they will lose fans, and fun, and maybe some players. To me and many others this is just hurting the game. The players have fun celebrating, and encourages the players with them to have fun and relax also. So why would they flag something that encourages teammates? I play football and celebrating with teammates can get you excited to keep going. Plus flags make kids and fans in a bad mood which can affect their behavior at the stadium or at home. I wouldn t want to be the parent of a mad child because their team lost because of celebration flags. Honestly that may not happen, but it is the NFL, who knows what can happen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know this doesn t make me as a fan happy. I love football, but hate unnecessary flags! This also doesn t make players happy. Tight End Vernon Davis of the Washington Redskins said, It doesn t make sense to me at all (Kahler). He doesn t understand getting a flag for spiking the football. Cornerback Kevin Johnson of the Houston Texans said Man, there is no telling what I ll do (Kahler). He is talking about what celebrations he will do that are allowed. This also make the NFL coaches angry because they don t like flags for something that makes the team more energized. Bill O Brien was mad when the refs called a flag for his team celebrating when they made a play(Kahler). This shows it makes nobody ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Police Brutality in Anywhere, USA Essay After our marching band s performance at a football game was cancelled because of lightning, about six or seven of the band members (including a few student leaders) sat around shooting the breeze, not fighting, not smoking, not drinking, not being loud. An unmarked police car rolled up and our conversation stopped as we turned our attention to him. In an acrid and condescending tone, the policeman pointed a finger to the exit of the parking lot and said, Out. Okay, just give us a moment to figure out what we can do, we replied. The officer, frantic and quite enraged at his own idiocy, pointed a menacing finger at me, Let me see your ID. Why do want to see my ID? I asked, because I was the passenger. Let me see your ID! he demanded. I asked why again, reminding him that it was a legitimate question. Getting the same non answer, I started to hand him my license. He all but ripped it from my hand. I must have missed the meeting that decided nothing cordial will be said by, and no questions will be asked of, an officer of the law. The officer s eyes widened and he yelled, You leave my family out of this! I guess that was his way of saying yes. As three more police cars showed up, Officer X instructed everyone to go home except for me and my friend. A RFID tag is saved with a unique numbers which gets broadcasted by a card with the transponder. Therefore, the door would unlock when the reader detects the unique number from the RFID tag. This technology was licensed to different companies, mainly door lock makers. The US government started using RFID to track nuclear materials in the 1970s. People need to know the dangers and what they can do to avoid them. In Florida, evacuation routes have been prepared and cyclone shelters are clearly signed and posted. Planning includes land use planning. This regulation is used to reduce the vulnerability of people and property so for example, only low value land uses (recreational) can occupy coastal strips, the areas most vulnerable to a storm. In Northeast Florida, coastal properties have been rallied above the ground on stilts and have non residential functions on the ground (storage). This means that hazards like the storm surges do not impact the people and less damage occurs to infrastructure. Warning systems put in place to predict incoming storms inform the public about them. This is linked with the effectiveness of the government and how developed the country is. A less developed country is less likely to have the money to be able to afford such technology and equipment meaning that no matter what form of planning or preparedness occurs, mitigation is less likely to be achieved. But what happens to them after the war? In After the War, poet brings awareness to how the war torn soldier attempts to reestablish their self in a society they have been isolated from for so many years through use of free verse and repetitive phrases, which further reinforces the theme throughout the poem. Use of free verse in this poem creates a lack of structure that appears to parallel the soldier s own lack of structure and direction in his own life after he leaves the war. The poem begins with the image of a soldier s and his squadron raiding a farmhouse: When he got to the farmhouse, he rifled through the cabinets, drawers, and cupboards, and his buddies did too. The place was abandoned, or so he thought, and his buddies did too. The first stanza connotes a slight sense structure as the phrase and his buddies did too is repeated after stating each action the soldier does. IPV6 is not a rigid IP as it allows for the growth of the internet concerning the number of interconnected computers or hosts and the volume of data transmitted (Kott, Wang, Erbacher 2014). The primary advantage of the IPV6 over IPV4 is the increase in IP addresses. However, there are other advantages of IPV6 which include: automatic configuration, simplified and more efficient routing, Simpler header format, flow labeling, easier administration, Flexible options and extensions, privacy support and inbuilt authentication and an end to network address translation (Adibi, Mobasher, Tofigh 2010). At present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc.. With the development of IT technology and voice processing technology, people have more and more high quality requirements of audio. In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system which based on DSP technology. In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a numerical system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain characteristics of unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is widely used in the field of high fidelity signal processing, such as digital audio, image processing, data transmission, biomedical and other fields. This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can do sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve the system will be put forward. • 34. The Evolution Of Health Care What is quality in health care? We can divide it into three elements: 1. Care by practitioners and other providers which means receive correct diagnosis and an appropriate strategy of care from practitioners; and convenience, comfort, quite, privacy, food etc. from care providers. 2. Care Implemented by patient that means patient should take care not only for him or herself but also for his or her family. It is patient s responsibility if he or she succeed or fail of getting health care. 3. Care received by community as the whole. People should judge the social distribution of levels of quality in the community. It depends on who has an access more or less to care and after having access, receiving it in good or low quality. The evolution of health care in the United States started over 300 years ago. It is divided into six main important eras: the charitable, the educational era, the insurance era, the government era, the managed care era and the consumerism era. The charitable includes period from about 1700 to about 1830. In the beginning of this period, health care was provided voluntarily in public houses mostly for needy citizens. Through the anecdotes Kingston shares about her childhood as a Chinese girl growing up in America, she discusses gender inequality and conflict due to a generation gap and a difference in cultures. By starting off with a story that her mother, Brave Orchid, told her about her dead and forgotten aunt, Kingston applies the techniques suggested in the chapter Beginnings in Technique in Fiction, igniting the readers curiosity and tying the memoir together. The subject of gender inequality shows up throughout the novel, such as when Kingston s great uncle takes only the boys out to town, fully aware that the girls want to come, but leaving them at home hanging [their] coats back up (47). This issue is a global one; even in modern times, women are seen as inferior to men. In this memoir, gender inequality is one of the issues that Kingston is attempting to point out to us. Although not all of the readers are Chinese American, Kingston transcends the cultural barrier to speak to the reader about her experiences with gender inequality and conflict. In the end of the novel, Kingston references another story Brave Orchid told her about a poetess named Ts ai Yen. Similarly to how Kingston rises above barriers to speak to her reader about how certain issues affected her childhood self, Ts ai Yen is able to overcome a language barrier to make barbarians understand her emotions through a song she sings. • 42. Substance Use Disorders Are Chronic And Recurrent. Impulse... 1.6 Guiding principals 1.6.1 Longitudinal data analysis Substance use disorders are chronic and recurrent. Impulse control, which is a predisposition to and/or a consequence of substance use disorders, is also a core behavioral domain underlying many HIV risk behaviors. Unlike some HIV risk behaviors such as engaging in unprotected sex, substance use disorders are more proximally associated with brain biology. In order to study HIV risk behaviors among injection drug users, we will use the data in a longitudinal manner rather than reducing the data to a cross section or single measure (e.g., lifetime dependence). The reason is that a longitudinal data provides more valuable information about the long term trajectories of the HIV risk behaviors of injection drug users. This information may yield a phenotype that reflects severity and intensity in a way that is more strongly related to the underlying biology of the trait. Using longitudinal ALIVE injection data, we borrow the concept of pack years to create our phenotype, injection years, (Caporaso et al., 2009) and analyze the composite HIV risk phenotypes of the trajectories of the participants. (Smith et al., 2015) The lives and relationships of injection drug users tend toward instability; hence, there exists virtually no perfect attendance record for any single participant in this study. Evil spirits or supernatural powers often creates destruction, but the protagonist defeats them. The end of the film, however, suggests that such forces will likely come back. Possibly it is just my mood tonight, but it is clear that a few really wealthy companies run the media in the United States. There has been a decline in small ownership media companies similar to Independent Lens in recent years. This decline correlates with the Telecommunication Act of 1996 that ended most ownership restrictions (Campbell, Martin, Fabos, 2014, p. 224). It was thought that this deregulation would encourage competition in the media market place, instead it had the opposite effect and created large media conglomerates. Cooperation s like Time Warner, Disney, and individuals like Rupert Murdoc own multiple media outlets making it very difficult for other smaller media outlets to afford to advertise enough to stay in business. Rather than competing, many of these companies hold joint venture investments and it is not in their best interest to compete with each other. Before ICE was able to rescue them, Alejandro and the group of immigrants found a rancher who offered to help them. It turned out that the rancher had connections with abductors. The abductors had a safe house where they have immigrants from Mexico as well as South America waiting to be rescued. The only to be rescued was for relatives to pay for their freedom.
