Terror Management Theory Essay example
Terror management theory (TMT) asserts that human beings have natural tendency for self
preservation if there is threat to one s well being (Greenberg, Solomon, Pyszczynski, 1997). It notes
that we are the cultural animals that pose self awareness on the concept of past and future, as well as
the understanding that one day we will die. We concern about our life and death but aware that it is
unexpected by everything. The worse matter is that we become aware of our vulnerability and
helplessness when facing death related thoughts and ultimate demise (Pyszczynski Greenberg, 1992).
The inevitable death awareness or mortality salience provides a ground for experiencing the existential
terror, which is the overwhelming concern of people s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We react to the death concerns through the acquisition and maintenance of self esteem. Empirical
evidences have established the association between self esteem and cultural worldview. It showed that
individuals with strong culture worldviews have higher self esteem (Solomon, Greenberg,
Pyszczynski, 1991). On the other hand, the research suggested that self esteem is able to serve a death
denying function. If someone is being asked to think about their own death, it would increase their
need for the protection affords by the cultural worldview and the self worth derived from it (Harmon
Jones, Greenberg, Pyszczynski, Solomon, McGregor, 1997). Based on this presumption, TMT derives
a hypothesis anxiety buffer hypothesis, suggesting that self esteem serves as an anxiety buffer against
the mortality salience (Pyszczynski et al., 1999). Anxiety buffer hypothesis posits that self esteem is
an emotional buffer to defend against anxiety (Solomon et al., 1991). There are several significant
evidences to support the claim that self esteem serves as an anxiety buffer function. First of all, there
are large literature review indicated that self esteem is negatively correlated with various measures of
anxiety and the physical and psychological consequences of anxiety. Leary and Downs (1995)

Monet Essay
Monet2 Claude Monet is one of the most familiar and best loved of all Western artists. His images of
poppy fields, poplar trees, water lilies and elegant ladies in blossoming gardens are familiar to people
who have never seen the original paintings and may never have visited an art gallery. Monet s works
have won a place in the affection of the general public that seems almost without parallel. (Rachman,
4) In the decades since his death in 1926, Monet s work has been intensely studied by a variety of art
critics. However, none of his works have been as deeply studied as those done in Giverny, in the early
twentieth century. During this time Monet s paintings, which focused on specific subject matter from

(Gordon, 37)
By the time he was seventeen, Monet was already making money from his work and had won a local
reputation as a caricaturist. Skillful and amusing, his caricatures were displayed in the window of a
local frame maker, Monsieur Gravier, where they drew crowds of appreciative viewers. Gravier also
displayed paintings by the landscape painter Eugene Boudin, who was an old friend of his. Monet s
development of friendship and informal tutelage of Boudin proved to be formative for Monet s future
direction as a landscape painter. (Gordon, 38)
In 1859, Monet set off to study painting in Paris. Paying his way with the 2,000 francs saved from the
sales of his caricatures, he set himself up in the city with supreme confidence. During this time Monet
was living a very bohemian type of lifestyle, selling whatever paintings possible in order support
himself. In 1865, Monet began to regularly submit works to the Salon, one of the largest and most
prestigious window shops in France, which posted the works of up and coming artists. During the
1860 s audiences were enormous, up to 400,000 visitors for a single exhibition, and the publicity
generated by a good Salon review could make an unknown painter rich and fashionable within a year.
After one exhibition the conservative critic, Paul Mantz, commented positively on Monet s The Pointe

The Dangers Of Self Esteem
In today s society, I believe that there are many possible hazards if we focus too much on heightening
the self esteem of children. One example is that children with very high self esteem could have a lack
of motivation in regards to academic assignments and exams. They may not feel the need to study or
put in the work to try their best due to the fact that they have the mentality of I m so smart, so I don t
need to study. Another example is that high self esteem could lead children to losing respect towards
authority. When children become too arrogant, they develop this know it all attitude. They feel that
they are better than the authority figure and there is no reason to respect them. All in all, too much
focus on heightening self esteem can cause children to lack high goals and expectations and influence
them to disrespect authority figures. Instead, we should focus on developing a secure self esteem in
which children feel comfortable and happy about themselves. We should teach children the idea that
not everyone is perfect and that they should accept their flaws. When children realize that they are not
perfect and can still make improvement, they can set goals for themselves and establish determination
to get better.

Perhaps the greatest threat to Krispy Kreme is the health conscious consumer. With around 240
calories in each donut, Krispy Kreme doughnuts are by far one of the unhealthiest treats you can eat.
As a result, the once sweet Krispy Kreme is going sour in the mouths of those who care about their
personal health. Failure to be proactive in addressing consumer health concerns, such as obesity, high
cholesterol, and diabetes; could result in a significant loss of it s 24.6% of the market share in the
doughnut industry. One thing Krispy Kreme needs to work on is diversifying their product.
Competitors, such as Dunkin Donuts , offer bagels, low fat products, premium coffees, and newly
cinnamon sticks. They offer these products to go with the changing times of the market. They remain
to be the top competitor in the market because they are constantly changing their product line to suit
their customers.
Overall, we can say that Krispy Kreme has still a strong position in the market. Although it is a
smaller company with less financial backing, it remains competitive as its breadth of products appeals
across all major demographic groups (including age and income). Its doughnuts have also stirred a
cult like following. Yet its recent problems in strategies (over expansion, unethical accounting
procedures) and management could

Latin America Intervention
From the literature presented in a course dealing with United States relations with Latin America
during the Cold War, it is interesting that political and cultural intervention in Central America, as an
important and driving social construct, is not a central role in the observations and analyses of the
scholars. While it would make sense that our Western understanding of the concept does not translate
in the same ways in this particular context, it still seems as though studies of the political, economic,
and social situation in the region s various countries would feature this discussion in a more prominent
manner. Noting this discrepancy, this paper includes historiographic works from historians who either

Certainty According To Descartes Essay

needs discretion not to put full confidence in our past conception of senses but still there are yet lots of
things that can be known by way of sense and are too liable to be doubted. Further, Smith is probably
correct in stating that the errors to which humanity is liable result not from wrong conclusion rather
when inadequately understood experiences are claimed, or when conclusions are drawn hastily and
without foundation. Furthermore, when there is a clash of ideas and doubts concerning one`s beliefs, it
can lead to cynicism and disillusion therefore it is prudence to put confidence in the power of human

Descartes` method of doubt is not blindly skepticism rather journey of discipline to arrive at
indubitable principles. In order to arrive at certainty meaning absolute foundation, he preferred to use
mathematics due to its clarity and certainty in contrast to sense experience. As a matchless quality that
is distributed to all humanity equally, reason may enable us to arrive at indubitable certainty as we
search for logical clear ideas. On the contrary, reliance on knowledge that comes from sense
experience may potentially lead to imperfect concepts. Therefore, Descartes` Method of Doubt that is
seeking for certainty by using reason which is a quality that can make perfection of humanity guards
men from inferring wrong judgment concerning truth and certainty. Locke`s approach of sense

than what I think and determine. But Descartes` Method doubting as investigation and examination

Star History
The life cycle of a star is dependent on its mass. The larger the mass, the quicker it will die out,
whereas stars which are no more than half the size of our Sun can live up to hundreds of billion years.
However no matter how large the star is, they all begin their lives in a nursery known as a molecular
cloud.
A molecular cloud is a giant condensation of dust and molecular gas. They are regions of relatively
dense interstellar gas and dust with hydrogen molecules as well as carbon and silicate materials
forming the primary constituents. Helium and small amounts of heavier elements are also found
within the cloud. Molecular clouds are very cold and dark regions with typical temperatures of
between 10 and 50 Kelvin. The mass of a typical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of fuel and the rate at which nuclear fusion occurs depends on the mass of the star. The
mass of a star is the determining factor of how long it lives. A red dwarf star is a star about half the
size of our Sun. Due to its extremely low fusion rate, it is estimated that they could last for 10 trillion
years. A medium sized star like our Sun spends its main sequence stage up to 10 billion years.
Stars like our Sun, which are no more than 1.44 solar masses, will undergo fusion of hydrogen into
helium. Over its life time the star slowly uses its supply of hydrogen by fusing it into helium. These
reactions require high temperatures. Eventually the star will completely fuse hydrogen into helium in
its core leaving inadequate amounts of thermal pressure to balance gravity. This will cause the centre
of the star to contract to compensate for the heat energy lost.
As this slow contraction continues, the core temperature, density, and pressure of the star continues to
increase. As the star shrinks it becomes so dense that it starts to compress helium. This results in the
star to swell due to the hot core and leaving a relatively cool surface. Eventually the outer layers of the
star expand outwards, increasing the size of the star. As the layers continue to expand, the surface
temperature continues to cool, forming a relatively large star called a red giant.
In about 5 billion years, the Sun will become a red giant. A red giant is a star which has completely

A Career Plan To Become A Professional Engineer
One of my primary short term career is to get a job in the field of civil engineering within 3 months of
graduating. My goal would be for this job to located in the Midwest, more specifically in the tri state
area of South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. I am open to a job in any sub discipline, but preferably in
the areas of structural, geotechnical, or transportation. To achieve this goal, I need to be proactive in
my job searching approach and to continue to do well in my class work and continue my involvement
with ASCE. My biggest criterion for my job would be that I would work underneath a Professional
Engineer doing engineering work that would allow me to sit for the Principles and Practice of
Engineering (PE) exam, as becoming a Professional Engineer is also a short term of mine. My goal
would be to become a Professional Engineer within five years of graduating. An important first step in
my goal of becoming a PE is to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
I believe that I will have the skill set to accomplish my short term goals once graduating. I believe that
not only my strong knowledge of fundamental principles of civil engineering, but also my ability to
learn quickly, will be adequate in achieving my goals. There are still skills that I feel I am weak in,
and if improved, would increase the likelihood of reach my goals. Skills I am still weak at are being
proactive in searching for a job and writing a resume. I can address my fault of not being proactive

Turmoil In Health Care
The current turmoil in the health care industry has been caused by the idea of change. Change can be
either an internal factor or an external factor that influences the success or failure of an organization,
(Gardner, 2009). According to (Kotter and Cohen, 2002) one must develop a vision that has
contributing attributes, a vision that is easy to understand and that can be visualized through the heads

The Meaning Of Socrates An Unexamined Life Is Not Worth...
Socrates stated that An unexamined life is not worth living . In his day this was a very bold statement.
The people back then was stuck in their own ways. They had their ways of thinking and that was it.
Having someone come in and try to show them another way of thinking was not acceptable. They
were not ready for Socrates, therefore they took him to trail, and where he was sentenced to death for
his believes. I think there are several different meanings for his statement. Was he right, was the jury
right in sentencing him to death and what was the outcome of his death?

The African American Portrayal Of The Film Genre, Big...
The African American portrayal in white American entertainment, especially in films has produced
malicious and ignorant beliefs of the everyday Black person. Entertainment venues such as minstrel
shows and silent films are causes to today s stereotypical views of African Americans. The African
American community along with other American ethnic cultures had enough; therefore, between 1915
and 1950, the race film genre began its movement to increase positive cultural awareness to the world.
This paper will examine three key elements (Keywords, Unspoken Cues, and Threads) from the films,
Big Timers (1945) and Dirty Gertie from Harlem U.S.A. (1946) in explaining their significance
impact and their fitting into the paradigm of race film genre. The race film genre is a source of
important material highlighting the African American culture. The genre not only focused on culture,
but also emphasized African American talent, Black s ability to film, produce, and direct a motion
picture, and most importantly, the genre exposed the world to the real African American individual
and family. Although many of these films were only shown and marketed to colored only theaters,
films like Harlem of Prairie (1937) and The Blood of Jesus (1941) are notable films that struck a core
with both White and Black Americans. These are a few of the forgotten race films that have provided

Research Methods For The University Recycling Program
Research Methods We began by creating an interview guide that consisted of four questions. The
interview questions for faculty were different from the ones asked to students. We included questions
regarding participants personal knowledge about recycling, their recycling habits and what their
thoughts about the University recycling programs. In addition, we asked participants to identify ways
they could reduce their paper usage, and if they could suggest something that the University could do
to improve.
We reached saturation after interviewing eight random students; interviews were held at the Taylor
Family Digital Library. Faculty members were chosen randomly and we interviewed two before
reaching saturation. Both faculty members were professors and the interview took place after their
lecture. The questions that we asked relate to our research question, which is what faculty and
students, are doing to help the University of Calgary reduce paper and how can it improve.
Preliminary Results
In general terms, we found that all participants recycle paper. Most recycle on a regular basis.
However, one of the participants mentioned that he only recycles when it is convenient and easy for
him, this means when recycling facilities (i.e. recycling bins) are nearby. In contrast, another
participant stated that she would carry the paper with her until she found the proper bin to throw it in.
All the participants claimed that recycling paper is important to them, and they would

Essay On The Battle Of Gettysburg
The Battle of Gettysburg
The Battle of Gettysburg is remembered as a turning point in the Civil War and the biggest, bloodiest
battle ever on North American soil (Welch). It was extremely influential to the outcome of the Civil
War and had the largest number of casualties in a single battle. The three days of fighting resulted in
the Union victory and cost thousands of soldiers their lives. The Battle of Gettysburg was significant
to the outcome of the Civil War because of what happened during this battle, why it occurred, and how
it affected the war itself.
In May of 1863 Lee s battle plan was to bring the war to the enemy territory occupied by the North in
order to apply pressure on the North and give the South a rest. So he started his northward march on
June 3 with approximately 77,000 men. This would be Lee s second advancement North and upset the
United State s plan for a summer campaigning season and hopefully upset politician s strong opinions
in support of the war. He wanted them to see the war like the South had seen it. Lee hoped to also take
some pressure off of the beaten up south. The
King 2 invasion northward would allow the Rebels to live off of the northern farmers and give
Virginia a much needed rest after suffering so much in previous battles. Lee s 70,000 plus army could
threaten Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Washington D.C. and put pressure on leaders to push for peace
and possibly a truce (Tousignant). The Battle of Gettysburg begins (July

Fine Dining Steps Of Service
Fine Dining Steps of Service Fine Dining is an experience that is unique in itself. The server makes
each guest feel like they are special and the quality of service received reflects just that. Each step of
service not only makes the guest feel welcome and appreciated, but also contributes to the entire
experience. Without one element of this process going as expected, it can throw off the entire
experience and turn a good one into a disaster. To have a good dining experience, a server must
provide the following step of service to a guest: the meet and greet, taking the orders, the delivery of
the meal, checking back, clearing of the table, dessert/coffee/tea, and delivery of the check. The first
and most important step of service is the meet and greet. This is the server s first impression and can
set the mood for the remainder of the guest dining experience. The server must always approach the
table with warm welcoming smile, say hello, and introduce him/herself by name. Remember this smile
needs to be genuine. The server should ask how the guests are doing and be sincere about it. If the
introduction includes a first name, the guests can actually make a personal connection to the server.
Servers who smile and use a name become more important to the guests and whom are more likely to
return to the restaurant asking for those servers by name. Guests need for the first impression to be a

result, the split parameter α was zero. The split parameter α was 1 assuming the return leg aerations
were flowing into the riser when PDT850 read negative since the vertical leg was at a higher pressure
than its horizontal counterpart. For DEM1 condition, the sign of PDT850 was positive (Figure 5). The
bed height was measured between 18cm 21cm from the surface of a top flange installed between the
standpipe and L valve. Lower bed height tends to allow aerations go up the standpipe [Ludlow et. al. ].
In DEM2 condition the bed height varied between 18.5 cm to 25 cm (??) and the sign of PDT850
changed between positive and negative indicating the aerations going up the standpipe or into the riser
depending on lower or higher standpipe bed heights. The DEM3 condition had 39 cm (??) of bed
height, the highest among the three conditions, allowing aerations flowing into the riser, hence
resulting in a negative sign of PDT850. The reason for a variability on the

The Torah For Being The Judaism s Holy Book
Most know the Torah for being the Judaism s holy book, the first five books of the Bible, and the laws.
More advanced Jewish scholars may be familiar with the Talmud. But, few Jews learn the Kabbalah
teachings. Traditionally, adults of the age of forty would begin to start learning about the Kabbalah
and read from the Zohar (Slick). The Zohar from Hebrew directly translates to splendor or radiance.
The Zohar is one of the most important works of Kabbalah or Jewish mysticism. It is a mystical
commentary on the Torah, it was written in medieval Aramaic and medieval Hebrew. It discusses of
the nature of God, the origin and structure of the universe, the nature of souls, sin, redemption, good,
and evil. The Zohar is not one book, but a group ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This spark of curiosity drove me to uncover new things about Judaism that I had never encountered
before. This lead me straight the Kabbalah to learn about something not many people know about.
After preliminary online research, I started to realize that the Kabbalah had a somewhat negative
reputation, while in other write ups, the Kabbalah was perceived as unimportant. This got me thinking
as to how the Kabbalah got this skewed reputation and what it did, if anything to deserve it? Also, why
haven t I heard of this before if I ve been surrounded by Judaism for most of my life? Is the Kabbalah
some lost distant tradition? If so, why are there news stories of major celebrities like Madonna
practicing it? In my quest to quench my thirst my knowledge, I kept my focus on investigating: what
is the background and history of the Kabbalah that may have led it to become so misunderstood?
Criterion B: Plan for Study
I plan to first delve into the heart of the Kabbalah teachings to get a strong base and an understanding
of the subject. Highly credible Jewish websites will guide my initial research and help to slowly
emerge me into learning the teachings. Next I plan to focus on Jewish academic journals and scholarly
information. In particular, Professor Gershom Scholem, he is an expert and experienced writer on the
subject and is well respected by Jews and non Jews alike. My research journey will then take me to

Brief Summary In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
Losing a loved one can be one of the most difficult things that a person may have to endure in their
life. The author of the poem The Raven , Edgar Allan Poe, had to endure several devastating losses
throughout his life, including the loss of his mother, his adopted mother, and his wife all to
tuberculosis. This intense loss shows very clearly in his different works. The Raven is a poem about a
man who has lost the woman he loves and is very lonely until he begins to imagine a Raven and
eventually becomes even more depressed. While others may disagree, the Raven in Edgar Allan Poe s

Towards the end of the poem, the Speaker is causing his own sadness to grow due to his realization
that he will never again be happy nor escape his sadness. The Speaker imagines a shadow enveloping
him in the quote And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor/ Shall be lifted
nevermore! (Poe 107 108). In this scene, the Speaker is sitting in the shadow of a statue of the goddess
of wisdom, Pallas. The shadow symbolizes the Speaker s inability to escape his sorrow and the
shadow completely envelopes, or covers, the Speaker. He imagines that the Raven is the one casting
the shadow but his sadness and loneliness drive him to imagine the bird in his head. When he says,
Shall be lifted nevermore! (Poe 108), he realizes that there is absolutely nothing that he can do to help
himself. He is beginning to seem relieved, when all of the sudden, the mood is slammed back into
darkness by the word nevermore (Poe 108). This word proves the Speaker s worst fears that he will
not be able to escape the sadness and doom that he has created for himself. Poe s word choice proves
that the Speaker is the one to create his sense of doom, not the

Leonardo Fibonacci Research Paper
Leonardo Fibonacci was one of the greatest mathematicians to contribute to the math in the western
world we know of today. Often referred to as Fibonacci , he was considered to be the most talented
Western Mathematician of the middle ages.
Born to Guglielmo Bonacci of Pisa, a wealthy Italian merchant in 1170, Fibonacci travelled with him
as a young boy. It was in Buga (now known as Bejaia, Algeria) that Fibonacci learned about the Hindu
Arabic numeral system.
In 1202, a book called the Liber Abaci (Book of Albacus or Book of Calculation) was birthed from the
many merchants that Fibonacci learned systems of arithmetic from as he travelled the mediterranean
coast. This popularized the Hindu Arabic numerals in Europe.

Examples include the Brahmagupta Fibonacci identity, the Fibonacci search technique, and the Pisano
Period. Beyond mathematics, namesakes of Fibonacci include the astroid 6765 Fibonacci and the art
rock band, The Fibonaccis.
Furthermore, Fibonacci s contributions even though not as revolutionary as other scholars, made
ripples in the mathematics world. While Fibonacci spent time with Fredrick II, he dedicated his Liber
quadratorum (Book of Square Numbers) to Fredrick. Devoted entirely to Diophantine equations of the
second degree (containing squares) the Liber quadratorum is considered Leonardo s most creative
work was in congruent numbers numbers that give the same remainder when divided by a given
number.
Leonardo Fibonacci s achievements and his shortcomings all came to a stop when his success of a life
ended in the estimated period of time between 1240 and 1250. It is also estimated that his death took
place in Pisa, Italy.
Except for his role in spreading the use of the Hindu Arabic numerals, Leonardo s contribution to
mathematics has been largely overlooked. Thankfully, his contributions are available to the wester

Stuff Without Thinking Analysis
We all love going around doing stuff without thinking, nevertheless it takes a smart person to do
something by first thinking about it. Not everyone likes when someone tells them their things. If
someone tells them their wrongs they get mad at the person telling them those things because they
know it is the truth in the most part. We all have to be intelligent and think what we are going to say or
do towards other people. Not everyone has this mentality they do not even have the heart to think that
they are going to hurt other people. It is right, they got hurt, but it is not right for them to do it too they
have to have the heart to forgive someone. Only intelligent people know it is not worth getting
revenge towards other people that hurt them. Some people do not use their heart and brain together.
The heart and the brain always have to go together they could not be apart. It is magical what the heart

Other people have emotions too, and they love when they get things. It is good to make someone
happy not just let them make us happy because that is like saying that we do not have emotions.
Emotions are very important for everyone because that shows how people care. If people did not care
then we could have problems. Problems are not good at all because we can do things without thinking.
If we do things without thinking, then we are not being intelligent. That is why being intelligent and
having emotions is good. Having a good heart is very good for people because that shows them that
not everyone is bad and shows they have emotions. If people were bad then they could not have
emotions and they can not be intelligent enough towards their decisions. For example if someone goes
to jail because they killed someone that means at that point they probably did not have emotions. They
probably were not that intelligent towards what they were

Genocide And The Holocaust
Genocide is one of the most tragic events that can happen around the world. Identifying the stages is
the most crucial part of stopping these horrible acts. The Bosnian Genocide and the Holocaust could
have been prevented or stopped if the 8 stages were properly identified . There are 8 stages of
genocide and the first stage is Classification. Classification is putting people into groups based on
race, ethnicity, and religion. These groups usually are separated into the superior people and the
inferior people. In the holocaust the Nazis targeted minorities, more specifically the Jewish people.
The Jews were seen as the inferior race and they needed to be eliminated according to the nazis. The
second stage of genocide is symbolization. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stage of genocide is called polarization. Polarization is where they separate the population. The
SS and Nazis used propaganda to convince the german population the the Jewish people were the root
of all evil. They used posters and videos to make this happen. Poster depicted Jews as being ape like
with large noses and a slanted forehead. The most prevalent example of this is the Hitler Youth, they
were brainwashed using propaganda so they would believe that everything Hitler said was morally
right. The people that rebelled and did not believe the propaganda were eliminated. The next stage of
genocide and the first step of the systematic killing is preparation. Preparation is when the target group
is put together and combined to make it easier for extermination. In the Bosnian Genocide men and
women were moved to concentration camps where they would be held until they were killed. The
Serbs overthrew the law enforcement and roamed the streets rounding up Bosniaks, making sure none
got away. They executed anyone that was thought to be strong enough to rebel instantly. The most
gruesome stage of Genocide is Extermination. Extermination is the killing of the targeted group. They
use the word extermination because they do not view the victims as humans and they are making them
feel like rats or insects by using this term. In the Holocaust they had many ways of killing the Jews,
the SS and Nazis used, starvation, exhaustion, mobile shooting squads, and gas

How The Recommended System Meets Health Insurance...
Explain how the recommended system meets Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
(HIPAA) requirements. HIPAA of 1996 brings compliance requirements that require significant
challenges for healthcare providers. HIPAA has five separate Titles and is colossal (United States
Department of Health Human Services, n.d.). The Administrative Simplification requires the
formation of national standards for HIE transactions and nationwide identifiers for providers, health
insurance plans, and employers (United States Department of Health Human Services, n.d.). The
Administrative Simplification also addresses the security and privacy of healthcare information
(United States Department of Health Human Services, n.d.). The criteria are meant to improve the
quality and efficiency of America s health care system by encouraging the widespread use HIE.
Furthermore, with the signing into law of the ARRA of 2009, a number of new measures were enacted
under HITECH. HITECH extends the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rule requirements for individual
patient rights, such as, the right of access to EHRs (United States Department of Health Human

The Detection System For Aircraft Inspection
Summary
The sub system which was analyzed in the aircraft flaw detection system is the sensing sub system .
The main function of this sub system is to determine whether the flaw detected by the scanning sub
system is valid by examining it further and notify the engineers if repair work is needed and provide
them with statistics of the flaw. Movement system will then be activated so that the robot marks the
points where examination has been done to ensure no repetition of inspection occurs.
The problem encountered with most of the sensing system for aircraft inspection is the efficiency and
accuracy of it. The robot has to be designed in such a way that flaws can be detected precisely in a
short period of time so that the airline companies could use it for quick and safe inspection.
The best sensing method is a combination of laser scanning and ultrasonic, due to the facts that
surface and in depth inspection could be carried out in a short period of time with minimum false
detection and less complicated analysis of inspection results.

Lab Report Of Caffeine
Introduction
The process Sublimation is a method used to disconnect a natural product from different undesired
compounds and after that it is purified by the change of state from solid to vapor. The majority
substances, under typical states claiming climate pressure, progress its stage with a temperature rise
from solid to liquid and to gas. Meantime other compounds, like iodine and carbon dioxide
experiences sublimation at this pressure. By bringing down the temperature and pressure of a system,
we can influence change in crude caffeine. Crude caffeine is extracted from tea or coffee, our
experiment was on tea. We got 9.6g of crude caffeine and it contained some purities. It became crude
due to the lower boiling point of pure caffeine than the impurities. Therefore, pure caffeine went
through the direct change of state before the impurities. We separated and collected the caffeine from
impurities by condensing it in a closed area. To produce pure caffeine this process is used by
commercial industries in a large number of scale, but for our laboratory purposes, we performed in a
small filter flask, a rubber hose to connect to the flask and the vacuum. A conical centrifuge which
worked as glass cold finger and it was fitted into the flask with a pluro stopper.

Chemical Causes And Effects Of Falling In Love
What are the chemical causes and effects of falling in love? There are three phases of love, which
include the following; lust, attraction and attachment. Lust is a phase driven by hormones where we
end up in an experience of pure desire. Attraction is a phase where you are overcome in new feelings.
Attachment is a phase where you grow bonds and feel connected. As stated by Science Daily, Blood
flows to the pleasure center of the brain during the attraction phase, when we feel an overwhelming
attraction towards our partner. This behavior fades during the attachment phase, when the body
develops a tolerance to the pleasure stimulants, and in other words, becoming accustomed to your
partner. Endorphins and hormones vasopressin and oxytocin also submerge the body at this point,
creating an overall sense of felicity and security that are necessities to a lasting relationship . Although
getting struck by Cupid s arrow may very well take your breath away and make your heart go pitter
patter, doctors caution that certain physical responses to love may work to our disadvantage.

Egalitarianism Is The Belief Of Equality For All,...
Egalitarianism is the belief in equality for all, irrespective of class, gender or race. Hunter gatherer
societies are often described by anthropologists as egalitarian; however perhaps some, more so than
others. The social organizations of peoples like the Pygmies of the Central African forests and the San
(Bushmen) for example, are labelled strikingly egalitarian in contrast to Northwest Coast Indians who
display social stratification . There is also evidence suggesting that descent groups exercise corporate
control over delimited tracts of resources such as fishing stations, hunting grounds and berrying areas

G. Bicchieri, Ernest S. Burch, Jr., Carol R. Ember, Kirk M. Endicott, Roy Richard Grinker, Steve
Gudeman, Mitsuo Ichikawa, Tim Ingold and George W. Wenzel 1992: 27). Hence Sahlins findings can
be attributed to the cosmic economy of sharing present in many hunter gatherer societies, as they
adopt an immediate return system that demonstrates their commitment to maintaining an egalitarian
way of living. In immediate return societies every individual has a share of the social product,
regardless of how much he or she has contributed to it (Lee and Daly 1999). This indicates the
importance of a fair distribution of resources such as food that may become scarce at certain times
during the year amongst hunter gatherers. Among the Ju/ hoansi, the distribution of meat in particular
is noted as a symbolic social event, whereby the arrangement of the pieces of meat can take up to an
hour in order to ensure that each recipient is given the right proportion (Lee 1993:50). This ritual of
sharing is also evident amongst the Hadza and !Kung tribes, with Woodburn suggesting that hoarding
food when another person is hungry would be socially unacceptable (Woodburn 1982). Thus, perhaps
food sharing in such a distinct social context can be interpreted as a sort of insurance policy that
reduces the risk of starvation and hunger within the community as a whole, showing that the hunter
gather ethos values society over the individual. Despite many hunter

  • 2. Terror Management Theory Essay example Terror management theory (TMT) asserts that human beings have natural tendency for self preservation if there is threat to one s well being (Greenberg, Solomon, Pyszczynski, 1997). It notes that we are the cultural animals that pose self awareness on the concept of past and future, as well as the understanding that one day we will die. We concern about our life and death but aware that it is unexpected by everything. The worse matter is that we become aware of our vulnerability and helplessness when facing death related thoughts and ultimate demise (Pyszczynski Greenberg, 1992). The inevitable death awareness or mortality salience provides a ground for experiencing the existential terror, which is the overwhelming concern of people s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We react to the death concerns through the acquisition and maintenance of self esteem. Empirical evidences have established the association between self esteem and cultural worldview. It showed that individuals with strong culture worldviews have higher self esteem (Solomon, Greenberg, Pyszczynski, 1991). On the other hand, the research suggested that self esteem is able to serve a death denying function. If someone is being asked to think about their own death, it would increase their need for the protection affords by the cultural worldview and the self worth derived from it (Harmon Jones, Greenberg, Pyszczynski, Solomon, McGregor, 1997). Based on this presumption, TMT derives a hypothesis anxiety buffer hypothesis, suggesting that self esteem serves as an anxiety buffer against the mortality salience (Pyszczynski et al., 1999). Anxiety buffer hypothesis posits that self esteem is an emotional buffer to defend against anxiety (Solomon et al., 1991). There are several significant evidences to support the claim that self esteem serves as an anxiety buffer function. First of all, there are large literature review indicated that self esteem is negatively correlated with various measures of anxiety and the physical and psychological consequences of anxiety. His images of poppy fields, poplar trees, water lilies and elegant ladies in blossoming gardens are familiar to people who have never seen the original paintings and may never have visited an art gallery. Monet s works have won a place in the affection of the general public that seems almost without parallel. (Rachman, 4) In the decades since his death in 1926, Monet s work has been intensely studied by a variety of art critics. • 5. The Dangers Of Self Esteem In today s society, I believe that there are many possible hazards if we focus too much on heightening the self esteem of children. One example is that children with very high self esteem could have a lack of motivation in regards to academic assignments and exams. They may not feel the need to study or put in the work to try their best due to the fact that they have the mentality of I m so smart, so I don t need to study. Another example is that high self esteem could lead children to losing respect towards authority. When children become too arrogant, they develop this know it all attitude. They feel that they are better than the authority figure and there is no reason to respect them. All in all, too much focus on heightening self esteem can cause children to lack high goals and expectations and influence them to disrespect authority figures. Instead, we should focus on developing a secure self esteem in which children feel comfortable and happy about themselves. We should teach children the idea that not everyone is perfect and that they should accept their flaws. When children realize that they are not perfect and can still make improvement, they can set goals for themselves and establish determination to get better. 4. They offer these products to go with the changing times of the market. They remain to be the top competitor in the market because they are constantly changing their product line to suit their customers. These senses he has received sometimes found to be deceptive or misleading; therefore, it needs discretion not to put full confidence in our past conception of senses but still there are yet lots of things that can be known by way of sense and are too liable to be doubted. Further, Smith is probably correct in stating that the errors to which humanity is liable result not from wrong conclusion rather when inadequately understood experiences are claimed, or when conclusions are drawn hastily and without foundation. The mass of a star is the determining factor of how long it lives. A red dwarf star is a star about half the size of our Sun. Due to its extremely low fusion rate, it is estimated that they could last for 10 trillion years. A medium sized star like our Sun spends its main sequence stage up to 10 billion years. Stars like our Sun, which are no more than 1.44 solar masses, will undergo fusion of hydrogen into helium. Over its life time the star slowly uses its supply of hydrogen by fusing it into helium. These reactions require high temperatures. Eventually the star will completely fuse hydrogen into helium in its core leaving inadequate amounts of thermal pressure to balance gravity. This will cause the centre of the star to contract to compensate for the heat energy lost. As this slow contraction continues, the core temperature, density, and pressure of the star continues to increase. As the star shrinks it becomes so dense that it starts to compress helium. This results in the star to swell due to the hot core and leaving a relatively cool surface. Eventually the outer layers of the star expand outwards, increasing the size of the star. As the layers continue to expand, the surface temperature continues to cool, forming a relatively large star called a red giant. In about 5 billion years, the Sun will become a red giant. Essay On The Battle Of Gettysburg The Battle of Gettysburg The Battle of Gettysburg is remembered as a turning point in the Civil War and the biggest, bloodiest battle ever on North American soil (Welch). It was extremely influential to the outcome of the Civil War and had the largest number of casualties in a single battle. The three days of fighting resulted in the Union victory and cost thousands of soldiers their lives. The Battle of Gettysburg was significant to the outcome of the Civil War because of what happened during this battle, why it occurred, and how it affected the war itself. In May of 1863 Lee s battle plan was to bring the war to the enemy territory occupied by the North in order to apply pressure on the North and give the South a rest. So he started his northward march on June 3 with approximately 77,000 men. The Bosnian Genocide and the Holocaust could have been prevented or stopped if the 8 stages were properly identified . There are 8 stages of genocide and the first stage is Classification. Classification is putting people into groups based on race, ethnicity, and religion. These groups usually are separated into the superior people and the inferior people. In the holocaust the Nazis targeted minorities, more specifically the Jewish people. The Jews were seen as the inferior race and they needed to be eliminated according to the nazis. The second stage of genocide is symbolization. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This stage of genocide is called polarization. Polarization is where they separate the population. The SS and Nazis used propaganda to convince the german population the the Jewish people were the root of all evil. They used posters and videos to make this happen. Poster depicted Jews as being ape like with large noses and a slanted forehead. The most prevalent example of this is the Hitler Youth, they were brainwashed using propaganda so they would believe that everything Hitler said was morally right. The people that rebelled and did not believe the propaganda were eliminated. The next stage of genocide and the first step of the systematic killing is preparation. Preparation is when the target group is put together and combined to make it easier for extermination. In the Bosnian Genocide men and women were moved to concentration camps where they would be held until they were killed. The Serbs overthrew the law enforcement and roamed the streets rounding up Bosniaks, making sure none got away. They executed anyone that was thought to be strong enough to rebel instantly. The most gruesome stage of Genocide is Extermination. Extermination is the killing of the targeted group. They use the word extermination because they do not view the victims as humans and they are making them feel like rats or insects by using this term. • 29. The Detection System For Aircraft Inspection Summary The sub system which was analyzed in the aircraft flaw detection system is the sensing sub system . The main function of this sub system is to determine whether the flaw detected by the scanning sub system is valid by examining it further and notify the engineers if repair work is needed and provide them with statistics of the flaw. Movement system will then be activated so that the robot marks the points where examination has been done to ensure no repetition of inspection occurs. The problem encountered with most of the sensing system for aircraft inspection is the efficiency and accuracy of it. The robot has to be designed in such a way that flaws can be detected precisely in a short period of time so that the airline companies could use it for quick and safe inspection. The best sensing method is a combination of laser scanning and ultrasonic, due to the facts that surface and in depth inspection could be carried out in a short period of time with minimum false detection and less complicated analysis of inspection results. • 30. Lab Report Of Caffeine Introduction The process Sublimation is a method used to disconnect a natural product from different undesired compounds and after that it is purified by the change of state from solid to vapor. The majority substances, under typical states claiming climate pressure, progress its stage with a temperature rise from solid to liquid and to gas. Meantime other compounds, like iodine and carbon dioxide experiences sublimation at this pressure. By bringing down the temperature and pressure of a system, we can influence change in crude caffeine. Crude caffeine is extracted from tea or coffee, our experiment was on tea. We got 9.6g of crude caffeine and it contained some purities. It became crude due to the lower boiling point of pure caffeine than the impurities. Therefore, pure caffeine went through the direct change of state before the impurities. We separated and collected the caffeine from impurities by condensing it in a closed area. To produce pure caffeine this process is used by commercial industries in a large number of scale, but for our laboratory purposes, we performed in a small filter flask, a rubber hose to connect to the flask and the vacuum. • 32. Chemical Causes And Effects Of Falling In Love What are the chemical causes and effects of falling in love? There are three phases of love, which include the following; lust, attraction and attachment. Lust is a phase driven by hormones where we end up in an experience of pure desire. Attraction is a phase where you are overcome in new feelings. Attachment is a phase where you grow bonds and feel connected. As stated by Science Daily, Blood flows to the pleasure center of the brain during the attraction phase, when we feel an overwhelming attraction towards our partner. This behavior fades during the attachment phase, when the body develops a tolerance to the pleasure stimulants, and in other words, becoming accustomed to your partner. Endorphins and hormones vasopressin and oxytocin also submerge the body at this point, creating an overall sense of felicity and security that are necessities to a lasting relationship . Hunter gatherer societies are often described by anthropologists as egalitarian; however perhaps some, more so than others. The social organizations of peoples like the Pygmies of the Central African forests and the San (Bushmen) for example, are labelled strikingly egalitarian in contrast to Northwest Coast Indians who display social stratification . There is also evidence suggesting that descent groups exercise corporate control over delimited tracts of resources such as fishing stations, hunting grounds and berrying areas (Barnard and Spencer 2011: 364). Endicott, Roy Richard Grinker, Steve Gudeman, Mitsuo Ichikawa, Tim Ingold and George W. Wenzel 1992: 27). Hence Sahlins findings can be attributed to the cosmic economy of sharing present in many hunter gatherer societies, as they adopt an immediate return system that demonstrates their commitment to maintaining an egalitarian way of living. In immediate return societies every individual has a share of the social product, regardless of how much he or she has contributed to it (Lee and Daly 1999). This indicates the importance of a fair distribution of resources such as food that may become scarce at certain times during the year amongst hunter gatherers. Among the Ju/ hoansi, the distribution of meat in particular is noted as a symbolic social event, whereby the arrangement of the pieces of meat can take up to an hour in order to ensure that each recipient is given the right proportion (Lee 1993:50). This ritual of sharing is also evident amongst the Hadza and !Kung tribes, with Woodburn suggesting that hoarding food when another person is hungry would be socially unacceptable (Woodburn 1982). Thus, perhaps food sharing in such a distinct social context can be interpreted as a sort of insurance policy that reduces the risk of starvation and hunger within the community as a whole, showing that the hunter gather ethos values society over the individual.
