King Lear And Hamlet Essay
The concept of madness and those who suffer from its hold is something that is apparent in both
Shakespeare s Hamlet and King Lear, both plays treat madness in similar ways it is often not
understood by the characters, it is often feminized and there are characters who choose to assume
madness for their own specific reasons. Another similarity is that both plays have two central
characters that suffer from madness, each has one character whose madness is real and each has a
character whose madness is faked. It is said the mad characters in these plays are given a type of
freedom to do and say what they please and are able to speak a certain kind of truth that would not be
acceptable in their typically sane society. Though that statement ... Show more content on

Though Edgar is faking his madness it is for good reason due to the lies of his brother Edmund, Edgar
must evade his father s knights who are after him and he has lost his status and must right the wrongs
that have been committed against him. Edgar s presence on the beach strongly influences the madness
of King Lear, they play off each other s madness and both find a freedom in their mad speeches. What
do all of these four characters have in common? Their madness can be seen as a kind of freedom from
whatever constraints society may have placed on them or it is a freedom to get information without
any of questioning their motives. The main difference of these characters each of their madness is
influenced by something else. The characters who assume roles of madness do so for their own
reasons one must avenge their father s death while another must clear his name. The characters who
are truly mad are finally able to do and say as they please, even though it may not end

The Uniform Crime Report Is Perceived By The International...
The Uniform Crime Report also knowns as the UCR, is a program that was perceived by the
International Association of Chiefs of Police in 1929. This program was essentially created to provide
consistent, uniform crime statistics. Around 1930, Congress sanctioned the U.S. attorney general to
assess crime in the United States (NACJD, 2010). Thus allowing the UCR program to get underway,
tasking the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), with the jobs of gathering, circulating, and
archiving all crime statistics gained. Currently, they are multiple publications that publish crime
statistics produced from information given by more than 17,000 law agencies in the United States
(NACJD, 2010). The Uniform Crime Report is not only used to provide current crime statistics, but it
is also used to analyze and report rather criminalities have increased or decreased though out the year
in comparison to previous years (Maltz, 1999). In this essay, it will briefly discuss what is included in
the UCR; the revelations obtained from 2008 UCR as well as the downfalls of the UCR.
UCR is a crime reporting database used to identify and keep track of the information and crime data
that is reported by law enforcement agencies throughout the country. In collecting data for the UCR,
the FBI receives information from citizens to find out what crime they are aware has taken place in
their area (NACJD, 2010). Once that information is gathered, the FBI gathers information from the
police station to see

Imperialism In Spain
Spain is located on the Iberian Peninsula, It shares it s western Border with Portugal. On its north
coast lies the Atlantic Ocean, the outskirts of Spain are vast and mountainous. It s position near the
Gibraltar Strait, gives it control of territories in northern Morocco including the enclaves of Ceuta and
de Alhucemas, and Islas Chafarinas.
Celts, Iberians, and Basques originally lived in Spain. In 206 B.C. Spain was conquered by Scipio
Africanus, and subsequently became a part of the Roman Empire. Until 711 B.C. when they were
overthrown by the Muslims under Tariq.
Throughout the 14th Century the Spanish government made it their mission to uproot Jews or

Montresor Capital Punishment
In the short story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, Montresor murderers Fortunato by
leading him into the catacombs after getting him drunk one night. Montresor takes Fortunato down
into a small room, chains him up, then builds a wall where he suffocates. Although Montresor
murdered Fortunato, Montresor should not be sentenced to death. Capital punishment is the penalty of
being put to death after committing a crime. In this way, capital punishment can be incredibly cruel to
the criminal. In the article Capital Punishment in the United States by Robert W. Taylor, Professor of
Criminology and Public Affairs, adds, Many people oppose the death penalty because they believe it is
cruel. Just like others who commit crimes, Montresor would have to face death penalty. In the other
article, 5 Arguments For And Against The Death Penalty by FlameHorse, agrees that capital
punishment can be ineffective, painful, and slow which could make the death penalty crueler than the
actual crime committed. That can mean that if Montresor were sentenced to death then he could face a
much crueler death than he caused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. FlameHorse, from the second article, also argues, It is strange that a nation would denounce the
practice of murder by committing the very same act. By doing so, we re essentially championing the
right to life by taking it from other. It can be hypocritical because the death penalty is intended to
teach people not to kill people. So why should Montresor be killed just because he committed a crime,
if the purpose of the death penalty is to teach people not to commit crimes? Also in an article put
together by Arbiter s staff titled The way we see it: Capital Punishment irresponsible, hypocritical
emphasises that people are given the basic human rights from the government and that taking them
away would be hypocritical. Montresor has his rights and if the government takes his rights then it

The Article Evil And Omnipotence
1. In the article Evil and Omnipotence, J. L. Mackie outlines the problem of evil as being the result of
three statements which are logically inconsistent with each other, where if any two were true then, in
turn, the third would have to be false. The first statement of the problem of evil is God is omnipotent,
the second God is all good, and the third evil exists. The problem of evil assumes that omnipotence
means there are no limits to God s power, that good is opposed to evil in the sense that anything all
good would seek to eliminate as much evil as possible, and that therefore an omnipotent and all good
being should aim to completely eliminate evil.
2. In the article God and Evil, H. J. McCloskey distinguishes a difference between moral evils and
physical evils. Moral evils are a product of human free will and are capable of a greater intensity of
human emotion and reaction than natural evils. On a small scale, moral evils are acts and feelings of
selfishness, deception, murder, rape, torture, and theft. On a larger scale, moral evils would be acts of
genocide, war, and corporate malpractice. Physical or natural evils are evils of the natural world,
meaning of the earth and animal kingdom. They can range from inhospitable geographies such as
cliffs and deserts, dangerous animals, pests, and parasites such as lions, poisonous spiders, mosquitos,
and viruses, natural calamities such as tsunamis, hurricanes, or earthquakes, diseases such as leprosy

The Marketing Environment And Marketing Mix Of A Firm
In this report, I have used marketing concepts to analyze the marketing environment and marketing
mix of a firm, which has achieved superior performance. I have chosen one of the most famous and
oldest retailer in the UK, Marks Spencer.
Marks Spencer is one of the best well known British department stores. It was founded by Michael
Marks and Thomas Spencer in 1884 (M S, 2014). It started as a market stall at Kirkgate Market in
Leeds. Nowadays, M S has transformed to an international multi channel retailer with 798 stores in
UK and 455 international stores (M S, 2014). According to its annual report this year, it has earned a
total revenue of £10.3 billions over the last year. (M S, 2014)

Therefore Plan A is launched in 2007 (M S, 2014). It is a plan that promotes ethical trading,
environmentally friendly and sustainability. For example under this plan, M S has developed a
programme that trains suppliers with their rights, as well as support some disadvantaged supply chain
workers. With the help of Plan A, M S has established a good relationship with their suppliers and also
earn them a place of high rated ethical trading company.
Maintaining good relationship with the suppliers is very important. If one of the suppliers suddenly
refuses to supply material to M S, they can find another suppliers immediately. Therefore M S has
never failed on the supply of materials.
➢ Customers
M S mainly target the consumer market rather than business and government market. The objective of
M S is not only maximizing their profit, but also increase customer satisfaction and their loyalty. M S
target their customers on the upper class of the society that means people with higher income, and also
healthy eaters in the society. Their target customers mostly aim at improving their quality of lives,
concerning about the product quality rather than prices. So M S devote their effort on improving the
quality of their products so as to increase customer s satisfaction. According to Baber Smith, M S have
seen as producing good quality products with good values (Baber Smith, 2009).

Plessy Vs. Ferguson, Guinn V. United States
Black and White in Progressive America
1. Plessy v. Ferguson, Guinn v. United States, Buchanan v. Worley all dealt with the Jim Crow laws or
Seperate but equal legislation. The Jim Crow laws were laws written to separate blacks and whites in
public areas/meant African Americans had unequal opportunities in housing, work, education, and
government. Seperate but Equal legislation was the judicial precedent established by in the Plessy v
Ferguson decision that enabled states to interpret the equal protection provision of the fourteenth
amendment as a means of establishing segregation. The blacks tried to take action to reduce the Jim
Crow laws by trying to make life better. They developed universities, churches, political appointments

The Progressive Reform movment included women s sufferage, food safety, safer laws, etc. All of
these were good causes. The one thing that was kind of dangerous was that the more popular the
causes were the more corrupt the politician that got involved. Reformers created new subjects in
which the could claim mastery since there were no real fields of expertise to claim superior
understanding of uran issues. Social sciences asserted scientific explanations for human behavior.
Veblen wrote A Theory of the Leisure Class and also came up with the theory of conspicuous
consumption. This theory was the spending of money on and the acquiring of luxury goods and
services to publicly display economic power either the buyer s income or the buyer s accumulated

B2B eCommerce Best Practices Guide Accepting Online Payments
Accepting Online Payments from Multiple Gateways
Traditional B2B invoicing, on account arrangements and payments by check prove increasingly
inefficient when companies can get immediate payments using credit cards and integrating other
mobile payment systems into their eCommerce platforms. Technology and faster communications,
secure encryptions of financial information and growing acceptance of mobile payments are
influencing business to business organizations to offer more payment options to their customers.

Studies show that eight billion invoices paid by check cost U.S. businesses $100 billion in annual
processing costs.[1]
Most B2B companies struggle to implement electronic payment systems primarily because of the
challenges of integrating with out of the box accounting software and antiquated legacy systems.
However, 91 percent of all adults now use mobile phones and can easily pay companies directly with
check cards, credit cards or other mobile payment options.[2] Customizing a B2B website for multiple
payment options provides long term benefits that will only increase with time and enable increased
automation of company processes. These include automated options for recurring billing, interactive
voice response or IVR technology for confirming orders and taking credit card or billing information
and Virtual Negotiation technology for speeding agreements and handling payment disputes. Mobile
payments grew more than 9 percent annually in 2013 and now account for more than 40 percent of
global revenue.[3] McKinsey predicts a sustained annual growth rate for mobile payments in excess of
6 percent that should surpass $2 trillion annually by 2020.
Accepting multiple payment types increases the value of any eCommerce platform by empowering
customers and simplifying the billing payment cycle. It s a new world for B2B companies that stand to
benefit from these technologies, but there are

Operation Anaconda Analysis
Unity of Command
Introduction
Operation Anaconda took place in the Shahikot Valley of eastern Afghanistan. The mission began on
March 2, 2001 and ended on March 16, 2001. A hammer and anvil attack, with 600 American and 400
Afghan troops, would rout, capture, or kill enemy forces. The operational timeline for a three day
battle projecting light combat took fourteen days to complete. During Operation Anaconda, Unity of
Command planning did not fully anticipate the need for additional forces, inducing a stall in
operations on the battlefield, and negating a timely victory.
Anticipation of Additional Forces
In keeping with the U.S. intention to keep the footprint in Afghanistan small and allow the Afghans to
do as much of the fighting as possible, TF DAGGER was directed to develop plans for an operation to
clear out the Shahi Kot valley (Fleri, Howard, Hukill, Searle, 2003, p. 8). Ground combat operations
in Afghanistan officially began on October 7, 2001 with small groups of Special Operations Forces
Soldiers training and fighting alongside Northern Alliance troops. These small bands harried Taliban
forces by calling directed air strikes and using bombers, cruise missiles, tactical fighters and AC 130
gunships. By December 22, allied forces were responsible for the liberation of Kabul and putting
Taliban forces on the defensive. By mid January 2002, reports came in of Taliban forces amassing
near the Shahikot Valley in eastern Afghanistan. By late January,

M1 explain how the management of human, physical and technological resources can improve the
performance of a selected organisation.
In this assignment I will describe the main physical and technological resources required in an
organisation, and how the management of human, physical and technological resources can improve
the performance of Tesco.
Physical resources
Some of the main physical resources for Tesco are; their premises, machinery, equipment, materials
and their stock. I have listed these as the main resources required as they are huge factoring reasons as

Budgets must be closely monitored (and stuck to) in order to fully achieve to the businesses maximum
potential. The processes and internal techniques must be managed and all resources must be
effectively used. It is very important for a business such as Tesco to manage their resources and
control their costs in order to budget. Managing resources and controlling costs to a budget is very
beneficial for Tesco as it involves a lot of different resources and money is always flowing in and out
of the business, which, if managed well, will improve the performance of Tesco.
Managing physical resources is very important as they are essential for the day to day running of the
business. Tescos management should do things such as check their machinery, equipment and
premises regularly to make sure that everything is efficiently working and also to help Tesco improve
their overall performance. It is also very important that Tesco provides employees with suitable
induction and training programmes on how to operate new machinery so they are up to date in the
knowledge of use and know how it can be used most effectively. If an employee isn t familiar with
how to use a piece of machinery, the efficiency of the business will be decreased. Tesco has many
physical resources that should be effectively managed; such as their entrance and reception (customer
services), which should be kept tidy, organised, and any damages (such as the fire damage as a recent

Essay On Yellow Journalism
Yellow journalism was a major issue in the late 1890s during the Spanish American War. The purpose
of yellow journalism is to use headlines and report sensational events that draws the attention of the
audience in order to sell more newspapers, even if the facts used were not legitimate. Yellow
journalism came to an end with the development of objective journalism, which reports facts that are
not biased. With the rise of social media, yellow journalism and fake news are making a comeback
and becoming a norm in modern society. The rise of social media is contributing to the amount of
yellow journalism and fake news that is occurring, which is ultimately leading to party polarization.
Yellow journalism originated in the 19th century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Objective journalism originated in response to yellow journalism. Objective journalism is reporting
facts rather than opinions and presents both sides of the partisan debate. Objective journalism became
the new norm of society and ultimately eliminated most of yellow journalism. With the development
of cable television and FM radio, the news began to take a more partisan role and led to the increase of
party polarization, which is the further divide between Republicans and Democrats. With the rise of
social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, the creation of fake news is becoming imminent. Today,
news organizations are using the tactics of yellow journalism in politics to gain the attention of the
audience and provide false facts that produce a major response from the viewers. Ideas and
propaganda material are able to spread faster and to a wider range of people through social media.
Much of this material is fake news that usually discredits one of the political parties, Republicans or
Democrats. With the wide spread of this negativity toward one party, the opposing party strengthens
its ideals and ultimately leads to increased party polarization. The journal, Correlating Political
Polarization and Spread of Misinformation, by Manoel Horta Ribeiro, claims that social media is
contributing to an increase in party polarization due to the increasing

The Debate On Death Penalty
The debate on death penalty In her book Last Words From Death Row: The Walls Unit, Norma
Herrera writes about the tribulations she and her family went through while trying to free her brother,
Leonel, from the death row. Despite showing glaring and overwhelming evidence claiming his
innocence, Leonel was sentenced to death for a crime that he did not commit. His last words to the
world were, I am innocent, innocent, innocent. I am an innocent man, and something very wrong is
taking place tonight. (Herrera) Those who support the death row, however, would score Herrera for
her attempt to bring light to this sensitive issue, and call her words an excessively emphatic exultation
to bring attention away from the crime itself. They would argue that a person who took another s life
should not be allowed to keep his own. The death penalty is an issue more complicated than any
debate that the country has ever seen. Despite the long debates and the rehashed concepts that are
presented to the media almost every day, there is but one truth that defines the issue: there is no way to
look at the death penalty in black and white. Where on one hand, it ventures into immoral territory due
to the obvious murder involved. On the other hand, though, the act is justified by calling it justice or
retribution. Words like revenge, good, cruel and inhumane pop up, but they do little to cast any
importance on the debate: we cannot look at the death penalty with the expectations to reach a final

Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Declaration Of Sentiments
The year is 1840 in London, at the World Anti Slavery Convention, where Elizabeth Cady Stanton met
Lucretia Mott for the first time. They became good friends over the fact that the men denied them
participating in the process even when Mott was nominated to serve as an official delegate of their
society. This doesn t surprise me one bit, women counter parts have always acted like they should
come first and that women should only be allowed to do certain things in life. Ms. Stanton married
Henry Stanton, who was a journalist and antislavery orator. They met through the involvement in the
temperance movement. After eight years Stanton was living near Seneca Falls. Mott and others
stopped by for a social visit which would bring on a spontaneous event of history. Stanton wanted

Stanton then wrote the Declaration of Sentiments, which was taken from the Declaration of

important men wrote that. Stanton also wrote eleven resolutions, one being that women had the right
to vote. Over 100 people, men and women signed the Declaration of Sentiments, including Frederick
Douglass who was an escaped slave who became a leader of abolitionist movement. This convention
helped spread the message about Women suffrage. It just amazes me how much women suffered back
then. They had literally no rights at all. They could not vote, sell or buy land and most of all they had
no voice between men. Even after so many years women do still experience the same inequality, in
which some women get paid less than men and also promotions are more likely to go to men than

What is the name of your company?
The name of my company is Florely. Most people would name their business after their family name,
such as their last name. For an example, Johnson Johnson was named after Robert Wood Johnson I.
Naming your business after your surname could be nice, but it wouldn t be original. It also depends on

Analysis Of The Negro Question And John Stuart Mill
Carlyle and Mill And Their Differences Of Opinion On Nature, Agriculture, and Humanity
Thomas Carlyle s Occasional Discourse On The Negro Question and John Stuart Mill s responding
essay, The Negro Question, primarily deal with the implications of a liberated black population in the
West Indies. However, the texture of their respective arguments lends itself to rhetoric of nature and
agriculture. Carlyle and Mill could not see humanity s relationship with nature more differently. Due
to different understandings of humanity s relationship with nature,
Carlyle and Mill s evaluation of agricultural productivity varies, thus informing their representation of
blacks in the West Indies.
Thomas Carlyle and John Stuart Mill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, Mill derives satisfaction from nature s action, citing its
spontaneous activity as the source of his enjoyment. In this sense, it could be suggested that
Mill sees the betterment of humanity as tethered to the betterment in nature, as increased action from
nature provides increased satisfaction to humanity. Unlike Carlyle, this sets up humanity s relationship
with nature as mutual, if not subservient. To Mill, it is essential that humanity aids and works with
nature, rather than extract from it.
The differences in Carlyle and Mill s understandings of nature reflect themselves in their represented
approaches to agriculture in Occasional Discourse On The Negro Question and The
Negro Question, respectively. Carlyle sees agriculture as the system capable of producing items that
are valuable to humans. Mill, on the other hand, recognizes agriculture as an ongoing and hopefully
mutually beneficial relationship between earth and human. Their differences in opinions are best
represented in their respective treatments of commodities and land use.
Throughout the Occasional Discourse Carlyle harps on the shame of cultivating pumpkins. In fact,
there is a moment in the text when Carlyle uses the phrase merely pumpkinish as a means to belittle
the efforts of the West Indies farmers. Instead of pumpkins,
Carlyle seeks commodities of bright, blaring, obvious value from the West Indies. He emphasizes that

Chemistry Of Film
Chemistry of Film Exposure and Development
Film is composed of an acetate base coated with a photographic emulsion layer. The base supports the
emulsion, which consists of small silver halide crystals suspended in gelatin. The crystals are Silver
Iodobromide (silver bromide with added silver iodide). (Earle L. Kitts) When the emulsion is struck
by light, the silver halide is converted to solid silver. (Janice Clifton) A crystal absorbs a photon of
light, with energy equal to Planck s constant times the frequency of the light, liberating an electron
from the ion. This leads to the formation of a photoelectron and neutral bromine atom. (Earle L. Kitts)
The photoelectron combines with a silver ion to form a neutral metallic silver atom. (Earle ... Show

First, the unprocessed negatives are treated with developer, an agent that turns silver halide to solid
silver. (Janice Clifton) The most common developing agents are phenidone and hydroquinone. The
active agents have a high pH, causing the gelatin to swell and allowing for a more rapid penetration
throughout the emulsion. (Earle L. Kitts) The bromide in the gelatin acts as a development restrainer,
preventing the development of unexposed silver bromide grains that would cause fog. (Earle L. Kitts)
Development is a chemical reaction, so time and temperature must be regulated. (Janice Clifton) After
development, some photosensitive silver halide crystals remain. (Janice Clifton) A stop bath of Acetic
acid neutralizes the developer with no effect on the silver halide. The developed negatives are treated
with a fixer solution of high concentration sodium hyposulfite to dissolve the unused silver halide.
(Earle L. Kitts)(Janice Clifton) Once the film is removed from the fixer, it can be exposed to regular
light since only solid silver negative remains. A hypo cleaning agent is then used to neutralize fixer on
the film. This step is optional however the alternative is to run the film under water for an hour as
opposed to 6 minutes. Photoflo, a wetting agent, is then added to break down the surface tension of
water droplets so the film dries spot free, similarly to dishwasher detergent with glass. (Janice

Globalization Of Cambodia
In the agricultural side of their economy, the rice sector, while still significant to the overall economy
has found that its share of GDP has fallen sharply from about 55 per cent in the early 1990s to one
third currently (Hill Menon, 2014). Furthermore, cambodia uses a lot of political affairs to sustain the
economy. Cambodia is one of the most highly open economy in the Asia,Pacific region but with
limitation on trade and capital flows (Hill Menon, 2014).
B. Population characteristics According to 2017 population data, Cambodia is home to 16,083,822

still work to be done when it comes to their overall human development. Cambodia has a significant
amount of land (176,515 sq km) but also maintains a large population so development when it comes
to land is unlikely, unless the government was able to acquire land from nearby territories. With Prime
Minister Hun Sen having been in power since 1998 and there being a significant amount of political
unrest prior to that, it appears as if there is a need for further governmental development to better

Principles Of Universal Design Of Kroger
ADA/Universal Design Project Summary The grocery store Kroger was inspected based on American
s with Disabilities Act (ADA) and universal design. Overall the store was very disability friendly
although, like many grocery stores, Kroger had items high on shelves that would be hard for people in
wheelchairs to reach. To fix this problem, some principles of universal design could be integrated into
the store layout. The general universal design of the store was fairly inclusive. The power doors at the
entrance allowed for equitable use, the first principle of universal design. Kroger also had restrooms
on either ends of the store. One of the sets of restrooms contained two unisex bathrooms. Though
these two bathrooms didn t have accessible signs there were grab bars and low sinks in the bathroom

Effects of Text Messaging Among Teens
Effects of Text Messaging Among Teenagers Introduction How often do/did you use your
cellphone/smartphone as a teen? When I was a teen, I received my first cellphone at the age of 15. I
thought personally this was the best invention ever created as a young teen and with that, I soon found
out that I just entered a whole new social world with these new technology devices. I entered a
generation that would be called the Tech Generation filled with cellphones/smartphones and social
media. I quickly discovered the texting function with my cellphone and started to send texts daily to
my friends. My cellphone became a necessity for me; if I did not have my cellphone, I would freak
out. In addition, I started to replace phone calls and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cell phones have been engineered over the past years to accommodate the demand of texting, such as
offering a full 1QWERTY keyboard (QWERTY is the acronym that commonly describes today s
standard keyboard layout on English language computers), and many cell phone carriers offer plans
that contain unlimited texting. An example of one of this cellphones/smartphone would be the ever
popular IPhone, which holds functions that enables the users to be able to call/text/email and even use
special apps that give direct access to the internet or a social networking site. According to Lenhart,
77% of adults and 71% of teenagers owned a cell phone and 38% of those teenagers (12 17 years old)
used their phones to text daily (30). A year later, the same survey was administered with results
increasing to 54% who text daily (30). The same survey was again administered from the Pew
Research Center by Lenhart in 2012 with the results increasing to 84% of Americans ages 12 and up
owning a cell phone and 63% of teenagers saying they exchange text messages daily (2). The problem
is texting is giving teenagers the option to avoid face to face interactions and causing teens to lose
important social skills. Fraser J.M. Reid, (Associate Head at the Centre for Thinking and Language,

Differences Between Platonism And Nominalism And Explain...
1. Platonists argue that the best explanation for why two red hats resemble each other is that they each
instantiate the universal redness. Are they right? What does it mean to say that something instantiates
a universal ?
In this paper I will explain the notion of universals, and argue why Platonism is the more correct view,
as opposed to Nominalism and Fictionalism. I will also clarify the major differences between
Platonism and Nominalism, and explain how they function as philosophical ideologies. Platonists or
realists in other terms claim that abstract objects are physical; that they exist in some palpable way.
Plato, from whom the term is believed to have originated, was with the idea that universals, like
redness , existed independently from the individual entities (particulars). Platonic realism states that
such objects do exist autonomously from the particular. Platonism is the metaphysical opinion that
abstract objects exist. Abstract objects are solely non spatiotemporal, they are also completely non
physical. Abstract objects are extremely central features regarding the context of philosophy. Abstract
objects are comprised of all the names and categories of things. These types are abstract. So, for
example, a chair is both the token (actual chair) and the type (an abstract classifying as such). This can
contain universals, numbers, and ideas like redness , concepts like courage and justice, and even
individual humans, such as John Smith. Platonists

Disruption Of The Body s Circadian Clock
The circadian clock in humans has influence over many processes in the body. The most prevalent of
those arguably is its determination of our sleep and wake cycles (Joseph et al. 2008). Sufficient sleep
is an essential part of human health and a lack of sleep can have severe repercussions on the human
body and mind (Hamet and Tremblay 2006). Disruption of the body s circadian cycle, by genetic
means, can cause: ineffective homeostasis of the sleep cycle, imbalances in the amounts of time spent
awake and asleep, and the timing of sleep s onset, all of which can contribute to dangerous sleep
related disorders (Hamet and Tremblay 2006). (Joseph et al. 2008) states that he circadian clock is

The disorders discussed, FASPS, FFI, and narcolepsy, are examples of how single gene mutations can

these disorders support the main concept that the master of homeostatic balance in our body s sleep
cycle is the clock gene, and that even the smallest of changes on the molecular level can result in
significant changes in physiological out put (Hamet and Tremblay 2006). Complete human health is

Path Of War Essay
The only time wherein the United States became a war theater was during the American Civil War in
the late 1800s. Today, Path of War makes it the location of another war, and it doesn t fail to deliver.
Although it would be horrible if cities like Chicago, San Francisco, and Nevada were to become war
torn battlefields, the game lets you take these cities for yourself, and use them as a slingshot to take
down the oppressive regime that has taken over the United States.
Path of War has a dystopian setting: it is set one year after a large scale cyber terrorist attack on
America, with the country now under a tyrannical administration. It does not provide anything chunky

By doing so, you can also reach the end goal, Washington D.C., quicker and easier, especially if you
have to deal with droves of enemies that come your way.
Although the game is pretty promising, it does have its gripes. Since it s a freemium game, the
developer seems to be doing everything it can to make you buy and spend premium currency. For
example, the mundane task of upgrading a building takes three hours or more, and plus, you can t even
save time by upgrading multiple structures at the same time. We understand that Envision
Entertainment wants to maximize profits, but it wouldn t be surprising if numerous players quit after a

Furthermore, the progression is slow and clunky and the premise of marching on to Washington is
barely achievable, thanks to its fuel system. Want to launch an attack? It costs a certain amount of
fuel. Want to inch closer to Washington? It costs five times the overall amount you generate per hour.
Overall, Path of War is a decent RTS game and offers a fresh perspective in the genre with its base
building and unique battle system. However, truly enjoying it may require you to constantly purchase

Essay On Abolishment Of The Juvenile Courts
I am arguing against the abolishment of the juvenile courts, as opposed to the alternative, which leaves
juveniles no chance of rehabilitation and returning to society. The intent of the juvenile court was to
rehabilitee and return the juvenile to society through intervention and supervision, rather than focusing
on the guilt and punishment. The juvenile courts were given great discretion to evaluate the individual
needs of each juvenile. Therefore, the juvenile courts were designed to operate like social welfare
agencies to focus on the best interests of the child. The juvenile courts purpose is to recognize the
differences between juveniles and adults. Position As we learned in CJAD330 and other juvenile
related courses, the juvenile court was informal and there was no determining guilt or innocence, so it
did not require legal representation. The doctrine of parens patriac give judges the authority to act in
loco parentis, basically permits the state to act in place of the parents. Throughout the years the
juvenile courts acted under a traditional model of treatment and rehabilitation, which all brought
concerns about excessive punishment and lack of legal protections for juveniles that extended due
process protections to juveniles. The juvenile courts have become more formal; juveniles were given
the right to legal representation, and more adversarial. How should juveniles be handled? Do juveniles
have due process safeguards? Whether or not to abolish the juvenile

My First Entry: The White Fang I love the way the author represents the wild life. The wild life
actually seems like our society in some ways. I think that the characters would do anything that it

wolves were trying to survive and not to die from hunger. Also, it was really impressive how Henry
and Bill tried to protect themselves from the wolves. I was getting curious about how they thought
they were going to get away alive from a pack of forty wolves. It seemed pretty hard to me. Anyway, I
was surprised as how the group remained. The six dogs and Bill got caught by the wolves and Henry

Beowulf as an Epic Hero
Beowulf as an epic hero
Beowulf is a poem that was written in Anglo Saxon, between 700 and 1000 A.D., and is probably one

our protagonist, Beowulf. It takes place in Scandinavia (Denmark and Sweden precisely), around 500
A.D. Beowulf is a hero of the Geats who arrives in Denmark from Geatland to help the king of the
Danes, Hrothgar. Hrothgar enjoyed a successful and prosperous reign: he built a great mead hall,
called Heorot, which mere purpose was to serve as a place where warriors could gather to drink, tell
stories and enjoy the songs of the scops or bards. But, these gatherings were quite loud and jubilant,

The definition of a hero implied facing the impossible with only courage and strength, and even if that
resulted in his death, he would consider it a most honourable way to die. After he wins the fight
against Grendel, he has the option to stay back while Grendel s mother tries to avenge him. But
Beowulf was a great warrior, and he knew that if Grendel s mother wanted someone to pay for her son
s death, it must be him, the one who killed Grendel in the first place. However, he doesn t go to her
lake just to let her have her revenge; he is determined to free Denmark from the horrifying monsters:
first Grendel, and now his mother. Another key factor in his decision is the fact that Grendel s mother
kills Aeschere, a man of Hrothgar s. But this is not all of Beowulf s greatness as a hero. He was a loyal
warrior, never betraying or letting down his lord, Hygelac. Even after Hygelac s death, he showed
loyalty and respect to both his king and the throne, and supported the son of Hygelac in becoming the
new king of the Geats. However, after a while, Hygelac s son died, and Beowulf became the new king.
His reign brought peace and prosperity to Geatland, and this lasted for fifty years, until one day, a
dragon was awoken and threatened to burn down the country. Even though he was not the same young
and strong warrior anymore, Beowulf was still brave. This shows another phase of Beowulf s life: in
his youth, he was a warrior

Anarchist Terror
In the late Nineteenth Century, Europe, and to a more limited extent the United States, was beset by
various acts of terror perpetrated by people broadly identifying or identified as anarchists in some
form. While individual motives and ideologies often varied wildly from instance to instance of
anarchist terror, the anarchists (as well as more thoroughly derived utopian ideologues like socialists
and communists) were driven by desire to radically change the deplorable societal conditions facing
the masses of the working class poor. While many anarchists were not violent in nature, taking more
academic and traditional political routes in their quest for change, terrorists were prevalent among

opinion to be negative. This was not helped by anarchists propensity to keep committing the type of
acts that gets them such negative press, driving home the de legitimization of their motives and
ideology to the masses who, in order to be successful, need at least nominally receptive, if not

Most modern sources agree that the French anthropologist Alfred Sauvy coined the term third world in
an article published in the French magazine L Observateur, on August 14, 1952. Although, the
expression was first used in prerevolutionary France to identify the lowest ruling class, the phrase
became popular after World War II. It seems clear that the wealthy Caribbean island Haiti, which
gained its independence from France in 1804, and had experienced some real economic growth should

help you out of a tough situation. You could always count on someone helping you because there was

How does Charlotte Brounte Create Sympathy For Jane In The First Two
Chapters Of The Novel?
Jane Eyre is a fictional autobiography which was written in 1848. It is about a young girl who is
abused and tortured by her aunt and cousins, (the people she lives with).
There are many ways that Charlotte Brounte creates sympathy for Jane in the first two chapters.
However the four main ways are: the setting, the language used, the structure of the chapters and
finally the social content.
In the first chapter, the setting is in a room where Jane is reading a book. The writer uses pathetic
fallacy in this chapter to describe the weather as well as how Jane is feeling. Chilly afternoons

However in the second chapter, the setting changes from cold and damp to more of a gothic setting
which is quite frightening. It is in this chapter, where Jane is locked into the Red Room. The reader
would feel more sympathy for Jane at this point because the Red Room symbolises death and scares
Jane a lot, (which is shown by her resistance to going into it). In the Red Room a gothic and
mysterious feeling is presented to the reader. This is shown in the colours described in the Red Room
such as red , crimson , pink etc. All of these colours give Jane a dark feeling and represent death and
blood to her, as she already knows that her uncle s death had occurred in that room. The atmosphere,
that is created in that room is quiet and gives Jane the feeling of being lonely. This creates sympathy
as
Jane has no one and is alone. The Red Room overall creates darkness as the colours of the furniture
are darkly polished and the blinds on the windows are always drawn down . This adds and emphasises
the effect it has on Jane because she becomes more frightened.
Another way in which sympathy is created for Jane is through the language used to describe Jane
herself. Jane uses a lot of sarcasm when she describes her aunt and cousins. She uses words such as
mama and darlings whenever she speaks about them. This creates
sympathy

Viable Alternative Energy For Replace Fossil Fuels
Viable Alternative Energy to Replace Fossil Fuels
Nauman Syed Zia
University of Houston
Nearly all of the United States production of energy comes from non renewable sources, also known
as fossil fuels. However, the problem with using fossil fuels to satisfy the United States ever growing
demand for power is that they are a limited resource and their production and usage cause a myriad of
harmful environmental effects. There are other sources of energy available that do not run out and are
much more environmentally friendly such as wind, solar and hydro power. The government should
take further action into transitioning from environmentally damaging non renewable fossil fuels to
cleaner and more permanent alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based of the origins of these fossil fuels, it is easy to see how incredibly slow the fossil fuel process is.
In fact, the process is so slow that regeneration is negligible. Continued use of these fossil fuels will
cause them to rapidly run out. Basically, when these fuels run out, they are gone forever. Its simply a
matter of time until the United States will need other sources of power, and it is a smart move to act
now on creating sustainable methods of energy rather than wait until the nation is forced to switch.
The attractive feature of using alternative energy such as wind, solar, and hydro power is the assurance
of renewability. There will always be naturally occurring winds, moving water, and radiation from the
sun that can be converted to energy. The United States government should invest its time and
resources into implementing these energy sources in order to secure sustainable energy. These
alternative energy sources are more environmentally appealing as they do not cause nearly as much
environmental damage that fossil fuels do. Aside from fossil fuel s long term non sustainability, the
United States should shift to renewable resources because of the detrimental effects fossil fuels pose to
the environment and people. The use of fossil fuels lead to an increase in air pollution, water
pollution, land pollution, and even global warming. During fossil fuel combustion, pollutants such as
carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides,

interpretations on this passage. The first interpretation uses the words And He gave some as apostles,

interpretation develops the idea that there are particular roles or offices that Christ appoints individuals

The Mortality Of Maternal Mortality Essay
In 2013, 289 000 women died during pregnancy and childbirth and it was estimated that everyday 800
women all over the world died from childbirth or childbirth related problems (World Health
Organization, 2014). Often, maternal mortality is found to occur more often in developing countries
than developed countries. Maternal mortality refers women who died from the situation like during
pregnancy, termination of pregnancy within 42 days, regardless of duration and place of pregnancy,
from aggravation caused by the pregnancy or pregnancy management (Nwagha et al, 2010). Maternal
mortality may be resulted from direct or indirect cause. Direct causes are from obstetric complications
of pregnancy, labour, and puerperium, and interventions whereas indirect causes are from the
worsening of current conditions by pregnancy or delivery (Givewell, 2009). This paper aims to
examine the causes for maternal mortality in both developed and developing countries and will end
with a proposal for government to ensure women are given reproductive health rights.
Developed countries
In his article, Why are so many U.S. women dying during childbirth? , Munz (2012) pointed out that
U.S. is experiencing a rise in maternal mortality. It has doubled for the last 25 years and the experts
are uncertain about the increase. Experts are not entirely clear for the rise in the maternal deaths in the
U.S., but there are some aspects that may be link to this.

This is a British American Movie that was acted in 1951 and this was an adaptation of the novel The

the producers were John Woolf and Sam Spiegel. The characters Samuel Sayer and his sister Rose are
missionaries from Britain who have gone on a mission in Kungdu, a village of German s colony in
East Africa just when the First World War had started. All the supplies and mails are delivered by a

Use Of Stereotypes In Michael Blake s Dances With Wolves
Throughout history people of different races and ethnic backgrounds have struggled to get along and
accept each other. In Michael Blake s novel, Dances With Wolves, Lieutenant John Dunbar s life
changes after he becomes involved with the Comanche Indians. After a short period of time, both
Dunbar and the Indians learn to trust each other. Through literary terms such as foreshadowing,
symbolism, and similes, Blake proves the idea that love, friendship, belonging, and connection can be
found between people of different backgrounds and races.

He chooses to use these similes so readers can understand the relationship between Dunbar and the
Indians. For example, the author utilizes a simile to describe Dunbar s relation with Wind In His Hair
and Stone Calf. They were as smug as schoolboys (Blake 275). Blake compares the relationship
between the Indian warriors and Dunbar to schoolboys. By doing this, Blake implies that the men are
comfortable together and and accepting of each other. Also, at this point in the book, Wind In His Hair
and Stone Calf joke around with Dunbar about his love for Stands With A Fist. This proves how far
the men have come in their relationship. At the beginning of the novel, the Indians would have been
against any romantic relationship between an Indian woman and a white man. However, by the end of
the book, they do not pay attention to the race of Dunbar; rather, they care about his kind personality
and the other favorable qualities he possesses. To continue, Blake uses many other quotes to
demonstrate the strong relationship between the Indians and Dunbar. Then it jumped into his eyes, and
like the only boy in class who knows the answer, he smiled at his teacher (Blake 209). This quote tells
the readers many details about Dunbar. By mentioning that he smiles, the quote proves is happy and
excited to be with the Indians. Also, by comparing Dunbar to the only boy in class who know the
answer, it tells readers that Dunbar is wise. He is smart not only for guessing correctly what the
Indians are trying to communicate to him, but he is also smart for building this relationship with the
Indians. Like the first example, this quote refers to a school setting. Dunbar smiling shows that he has
a good relationship with his teacher Stands With A Fist. In addition, the quote references the theme
because teachers teach people from all different backgrounds. It shows the strong connection between
the student and the teacher in this case Dunbar

A Digital Forensic Examiner Is On The Receiving End Of The...
A cellular phone rings in a Northern Virginia suburban home; it is 3:00 AM. A digital forensic
examiner is on the receiving end of the phone call. The local police department is requesting the
examiner s expertise and his state of the art forensic lab. An individual has just been arrested on child
pornography charges, as well as, possible drug trafficking. The suspect is believed to be the ringleader
in a drug cartel so this has the potential to be a massive investigation. This digital examiner was once
a Northern Virginia police officer who was also a digital forensic examiner for the force. He recently

many years to get to this point in his career. In addition to his due diligence and efforts, he had hired
the right company to help him start his business. The story above illustrates what can happen when a

investigator described, XYZ, Inc. is in the process of opening a new digital forensics laboratory and is
hoping, with Group 4 Firm s support, their personnel and new facility will achieve success. One may
ask what it takes to put a digital forensics laboratory together. With its proven track record, the Group

Ap Victor Bono Analysis
U2 frontman Bono thinks a lot of young Christian artists are trapped and are not really using their
music to reflect the real events in their lives, so he wants them to be truly honest when it comes to
their art.
In an interview with Fuller Studio, Bono talked about how faith interacts with Christian art. The U2
frontman, who spent several years reading poetry in the biblical book of Psalms, came to the
realization that honesty is a must when creating art, The Huffington Post relays.
Bono is hoping that their discussion will help unlock artists who he thinks are trapped into the
pressure of not giving a wrong impression of themselves to the public. He said a great song that

We don t have to please God in any other way than to be brutally honest, Bono told Fuller Studio in
the interview. That is the root. Not just to a relationship with God, but it s the root to a great song. That
s the only place you can find a great song. The only place you can find any work of art, of merit.
Aside from that, Bono addressed the labeling of music as either Christian or not Christian. The U2
singer said such labels are not needed in every song, and that a song should not be seen as something
that is not spiritual just because it is not classified as Christian.
Bono said he wants to hear are songs about artists rage at ongoing injustice, marriage woes, and other
topics that would spur people into action. He added that musicians should create art not merely to
please others.
This is not the first time that Bono has touched the topic of Christian faith in his interviews. Speaking
to Focus on the Family in 2013, he said losing his mother at an early age left a void which he filled
with music and also strengthened his faith, Christianity Today

A Comparison Of American Culture With The Culture
A Comparison of American Culture with the Culture of the Kung People in Kalahari Desert in South
Africa
Culture is defined as the way of life that a particular group of people practice because such practices
determine vast aspects of their lives. Culture is fostered by social and environmental aspects. Thus,
different people in the world respond to their surrounding environment in vast ways and such
responses inflict the cultural aspects. The most amazing fact about culture is that everyone in the
entire world practices certain cultures or adheres to a particular social activity. This happens
irrespective of the advancement or exposure one has because culture is simply determined by what
such an individual value as part of their day to day life.
American Culture
The world is full of different cultures that deal with spiritual and social aspects in vast ways. This
means that different people handle different spirituality, cosmology and culture in different ways,
which eventually determine the way they respond to community gatherings, religion and medicine.
The American culture is not known to many because people perceive that the culture is completely
eroded by the diverse ethnicities that dwell in the nation. Nevertheless, this could be true because
everyone in America came from somewhere and each ethnic group brought in their cultures. These
cultures have been mixed up and the citizens of America have embraced specific cultures. Thee
cultures differ with those that are

Summary Of Still Life With Dead Game, Fruits, And Vegetables
Frans Snyders created the painting Still Life with Dead Game, Fruits, and Vegetables in a Market,
1614. At first glance, the painting depicts a horde of dead animals on top of a table, morbidly
displayed. With the abundance of food placed on the table, the small section of the painting with the
child pickpocketing creates a sense of enragement in the viewers. The animals set on the table such as
the swan and the hog notify the readers that these animals are not for common people, but for the
wealthy. Setting the painting before a fancy dinner, and in the process before has the viewers infer of
the good life of those eating the animals but the struggle of the man and the boy. The painting The
ship of Patience was created by an unknown 18th century painter in Cuzco, Peru. The purpose of the
painting seems to demonstrate the movement and expansion of Christianity overseas. The striking
angelic figure in the sky shows a clear contrast with the frightening devils on the ground. By labeling
each figure and person the painter was able to create an easy visual image for the natives to learn
from. Without knowing anything about Christianity the painting clearly has Jesus Christ in the sole
center person of the painting. There aren t just holy, famous people on the boat with him, there are
people with diseases and those that look like workers. It is demonstrating the open and loving beliefs
and image of Christianity. The Song of the Lark painted by Jules Adolphe Breton is a

Essay on Effective Listening
Effective Listening
The ability to listen well is an important tool for understanding others. Sadly, very few people know
how to listen well. In fact, most people can think of only one or two good listeners in their lives.
Listening is not simply agreeing it is much more. Good listeners are able to better understand and
respond to others, complete assignments accurately, settle disagreements before they escalate, and
establish rapport with difficult people.
Listening is often confused with hearing. This serious misconception can lead us to believe that good
listening is instinctive. In fact, good listening is an active, sophisticated process a learned behavior
that demands focus and attention. Listening takes place on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Content listening can lead to serious misunderstandings and is especially deceptive because it appears
the listener is tuned in.
Superficial Listeners
Superficial listeners are often judging, daydreaming, or rehersing their response this is essentially
hearing, not listening. The listener is tuning in and out thinking little of the talker, and mainly listening
for a chance to jump in and take over the conversation. People who listen at this level are pretending
to listen and are often quiet and passive.
To achieve deep listening, the listener must take on certain responsibilities to help the talker and to
ensure that there is agreement about the interpretation and intent of a message. Specifically, the
listener must focus on the talker and pay close attention to what is being said. Strive to understand the
meaning of the message and respond accordingly. Keep in mind that the response lets the talker know
whether or not the message is getting through and allows him or her to adjust the message
accordingly.
Listener Responsibilities
Determine the talker s needs during the interaction. At the beginning of a conversation, the talker may
be tentative and not say what he or she means. Whether he or she continues often depends on the
listener s initial response. Stay neutral and try to listen objectively. Direct, clear communication rarely
occurs when information flows one way. Listening blocks are obstacles that interfere with our
listening they

Chilean Mining Cons
Mining had been practicied for centuries already and has helped humans develop through civilizations
and years of innovation. Even though we have been the benficiaries of mining, there has been a catch
to all of this. Mining isnt beneficial because of companies treating miners really bad and because of its
harm to the environment, therefore creating more of a danger to us. Even if the mining industry seems
to never have an end to it, it can surpressed, in order to ensure a better environment for future
generations to come. Mining is harmful to humanity because of a cruelty to miners in the industries.
According to Mining In Chile The Pros And Cons the article talks about the Chilean mining collapse
and how the miners ended up spending 69 days spent trapped. According to the article it says Between
2004 and 2010, the San Esteban Mining Company (owner of the San Jose mine) received 42 fines for

Purpose Of The Mapping Project
Some time ago, I received a call from an elderly shut in lady explaining that she had no access to
transportation and that there was some problem with her SNAP benefits that month. Consequently, she
was in poor health and had specific dietary needs. Her friend, that normally would help, was not able
to take her to a local pantry. She went on to ask if we would be able to bring just a little food to tie her
over until someone could take her somewhere for food. Imagine the feeling of insecurity that this
woman must have been experiencing. This is just one of many calls the food bank receives. It is just
such a call that made the mapping project GMFB conducted so necessary.
The purpose of the mapping project was to gain a better insight into the counties GMFB services and
their demographics. Additionally, it was necessary to have a better understanding of the agencies we
currently support and the part they play in their communities. Are the areas under served? Are the
areas over served? Is there any duplication of service? In food banking, agencies are nonprofit
organizations that link GMFB and the hungry. An agency will have a distribution model that provides
access to meals, groceries and/or benefits for a targeted population in the community. Over time, we
began to gather information on food insecurity, poverty levels, areas with high numbers of free and
reduced lunch provided, locations of subsidized housing, and finally pantry locations unsupported by
the food

Comparing Isaiah 12 And The Definitions Of Marriage And...
The Duke of Wellington, the British military leader who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo, was not an
easy man to serve under. He was brilliant, demanding, and not one to shower his subordinates with
compliments. Yet even Wellington realized that his methods left something to be desired. In his old
age a young lady asked him what, if anything, he would do differently if he had his life to live over
again. Wellington thought for a moment, and then replied. I d give more praise, he said.
What do you think about giving more praise? A few of the definitions of praise by Webster s
dictionary are to express thanks to or love and respect for God ; to glorify God especially by the

They told him not to give glory to Jesus because Jesus was a sinner. I love the blind man s response: I

those encounters with Christ and share them with others. I hope you are able to remember all of the
great things that Christ has done in your life. I ll admit as I get older that my mind may allow me to

How Is FIFA Corrupted
The company of corruption I am talking about is FIFA. Their headquarters residing in Zürich,
Switzerland, the company was founded on May 21st, 1904 in Paris by representatives from Denmark,
France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, and Sweden. The reason I claim this company
being corrupted is vaguely obvious. From the looks of things, they seem to be the very definition of
corruption. They are so corrupt, the ex vice president of the company (Jack Warner) could see a
satirical article from the Onion and actually believe it to be something they d do. In fact, that s exactly
what happened. If you look up on YouTube FIFA VP defends himself by quoting The Onion this claim

  • 2. King Lear And Hamlet Essay The concept of madness and those who suffer from its hold is something that is apparent in both Shakespeare s Hamlet and King Lear, both plays treat madness in similar ways it is often not understood by the characters, it is often feminized and there are characters who choose to assume madness for their own specific reasons. Another similarity is that both plays have two central characters that suffer from madness, each has one character whose madness is real and each has a character whose madness is faked. It is said the mad characters in these plays are given a type of freedom to do and say what they please and are able to speak a certain kind of truth that would not be acceptable in their typically sane society. Though that statement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though Edgar is faking his madness it is for good reason due to the lies of his brother Edmund, Edgar must evade his father s knights who are after him and he has lost his status and must right the wrongs that have been committed against him. Edgar s presence on the beach strongly influences the madness of King Lear, they play off each other s madness and both find a freedom in their mad speeches. What do all of these four characters have in common? Their madness can be seen as a kind of freedom from whatever constraints society may have placed on them or it is a freedom to get information without any of questioning their motives. The main difference of these characters each of their madness is influenced by something else. The characters who assume roles of madness do so for their own reasons one must avenge their father s death while another must clear his name. The characters who are truly mad are finally able to do and say as they please, even though it may not end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Uniform Crime Report Is Perceived By The International... The Uniform Crime Report also knowns as the UCR, is a program that was perceived by the International Association of Chiefs of Police in 1929. This program was essentially created to provide consistent, uniform crime statistics. Around 1930, Congress sanctioned the U.S. attorney general to assess crime in the United States (NACJD, 2010). Thus allowing the UCR program to get underway, tasking the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), with the jobs of gathering, circulating, and archiving all crime statistics gained. Currently, they are multiple publications that publish crime statistics produced from information given by more than 17,000 law agencies in the United States (NACJD, 2010). The Uniform Crime Report is not only used to provide current crime statistics, but it is also used to analyze and report rather criminalities have increased or decreased though out the year in comparison to previous years (Maltz, 1999). In this essay, it will briefly discuss what is included in the UCR; the revelations obtained from 2008 UCR as well as the downfalls of the UCR. UCR is a crime reporting database used to identify and keep track of the information and crime data that is reported by law enforcement agencies throughout the country. In collecting data for the UCR, the FBI receives information from citizens to find out what crime they are aware has taken place in their area (NACJD, 2010). Once that information is gathered, the FBI gathers information from the police station to see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Montresor Capital Punishment In the short story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, Montresor murderers Fortunato by leading him into the catacombs after getting him drunk one night. Montresor takes Fortunato down into a small room, chains him up, then builds a wall where he suffocates. Although Montresor murdered Fortunato, Montresor should not be sentenced to death. Capital punishment is the penalty of being put to death after committing a crime. In this way, capital punishment can be incredibly cruel to the criminal. In the article Capital Punishment in the United States by Robert W. Taylor, Professor of Criminology and Public Affairs, adds, Many people oppose the death penalty because they believe it is cruel. Just like others who commit crimes, Montresor would have to face death penalty. In the other article, 5 Arguments For And Against The Death Penalty by FlameHorse, agrees that capital punishment can be ineffective, painful, and slow which could make the death penalty crueler than the actual crime committed. That can mean that if Montresor were sentenced to death then he could face a much crueler death than he caused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So why should Montresor be killed just because he committed a crime, if the purpose of the death penalty is to teach people not to commit crimes? Also in an article put together by Arbiter s staff titled The way we see it: Capital Punishment irresponsible, hypocritical emphasises that people are given the basic human rights from the government and that taking them away would be hypocritical. • 6. The Article Evil And Omnipotence 1. In the article Evil and Omnipotence, J. L. Mackie outlines the problem of evil as being the result of three statements which are logically inconsistent with each other, where if any two were true then, in turn, the third would have to be false. The first statement of the problem of evil is God is omnipotent, the second God is all good, and the third evil exists. The problem of evil assumes that omnipotence means there are no limits to God s power, that good is opposed to evil in the sense that anything all good would seek to eliminate as much evil as possible, and that therefore an omnipotent and all good being should aim to completely eliminate evil. 2. In the article God and Evil, H. J. McCloskey distinguishes a difference between moral evils and physical evils. Moral evils are a product of human free will and are capable of a greater intensity of human emotion and reaction than natural evils. On a small scale, moral evils are acts and feelings of selfishness, deception, murder, rape, torture, and theft. On a larger scale, moral evils would be acts of genocide, war, and corporate malpractice. Physical or natural evils are evils of the natural world, meaning of the earth and animal kingdom. They can range from inhospitable geographies such as cliffs and deserts, dangerous animals, pests, and parasites such as lions, poisonous spiders, mosquitos, and viruses, natural calamities such as tsunamis, hurricanes, or earthquakes, diseases such as leprosy or ... These include automated options for recurring billing, interactive voice response or IVR technology for confirming orders and taking credit card or billing information and Virtual Negotiation technology for speeding agreements and handling payment disputes. • 10. Operation Anaconda Analysis Unity of Command Introduction Operation Anaconda took place in the Shahikot Valley of eastern Afghanistan. The mission began on March 2, 2001 and ended on March 16, 2001. A hammer and anvil attack, with 600 American and 400 Afghan troops, would rout, capture, or kill enemy forces. The operational timeline for a three day battle projecting light combat took fourteen days to complete. During Operation Anaconda, Unity of Command planning did not fully anticipate the need for additional forces, inducing a stall in operations on the battlefield, and negating a timely victory. Anticipation of Additional Forces In keeping with the U.S. intention to keep the footprint in Afghanistan small and allow the Afghans to do as much of the fighting as possible, TF DAGGER was directed to develop plans for an operation to clear out the Shahi Kot valley (Fleri, Howard, Hukill, Searle, 2003, p. 8). Ground combat operations in Afghanistan officially began on October 7, 2001 with small groups of Special Operations Forces Soldiers training and fighting alongside Northern Alliance troops. These small bands harried Taliban forces by calling directed air strikes and using bombers, cruise missiles, tactical fighters and AC 130 gunships. By December 22, allied forces were responsible for the liberation of Kabul and putting Taliban forces on the defensive. By mid January 2002, reports came in of Taliban forces amassing near the Shahikot Valley in eastern Afghanistan. By late January, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Objective journalism is reporting facts rather than opinions and presents both sides of the partisan debate. Objective journalism became the new norm of society and ultimately eliminated most of yellow journalism. With the development of cable television and FM radio, the news began to take a more partisan role and led to the increase of party polarization, which is the further divide between Republicans and Democrats. With the rise of social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, the creation of fake news is becoming imminent. Today, news organizations are using the tactics of yellow journalism in politics to gain the attention of the audience and provide false facts that produce a major response from the viewers. Ideas and propaganda material are able to spread faster and to a wider range of people through social media. Much of this material is fake news that usually discredits one of the political parties, Republicans or Democrats. With the wide spread of this negativity toward one party, the opposing party strengthens its ideals and ultimately leads to increased party polarization. His last words to the world were, I am innocent, innocent, innocent. I am an innocent man, and something very wrong is taking place tonight. (Herrera) Those who support the death row, however, would score Herrera for her attempt to bring light to this sensitive issue, and call her words an excessively emphatic exultation to bring attention away from the crime itself. They would argue that a person who took another s life should not be allowed to keep his own. The death penalty is an issue more complicated than any debate that the country has ever seen. Despite the long debates and the rehashed concepts that are presented to the media almost every day, there is but one truth that defines the issue: there is no way to look at the death penalty in black and white. Where on one hand, it ventures into immoral territory due to the obvious murder involved. On the other hand, though, the act is justified by calling it justice or retribution. Words like revenge, good, cruel and inhumane pop up, but they do little to cast any importance on the debate: we cannot look at the death penalty with the expectations to reach a final ... This doesn t surprise me one bit, women counter parts have always acted like they should come first and that women should only be allowed to do certain things in life. Ms. Stanton married Henry Stanton, who was a journalist and antislavery orator. They met through the involvement in the temperance movement. After eight years Stanton was living near Seneca Falls. Stanton also wrote eleven resolutions, one being that women had the right to vote. Over 100 people, men and women signed the Declaration of Sentiments, including Frederick Douglass who was an escaped slave who became a leader of abolitionist movement. This convention helped spread the message about Women suffrage. It just amazes me how much women suffered back then. They had literally no rights at all. They could not vote, sell or buy land and most of all they had no voice between men. Instead, Mill derives satisfaction from nature s action, citing its spontaneous activity as the source of his enjoyment. In this sense, it could be suggested that Mill sees the betterment of humanity as tethered to the betterment in nature, as increased action from nature provides increased satisfaction to humanity. Unlike Carlyle, this sets up humanity s relationship with nature as mutual, if not subservient. To Mill, it is essential that humanity aids and works with nature, rather than extract from it. The differences in Carlyle and Mill s understandings of nature reflect themselves in their represented approaches to agriculture in Occasional Discourse On The Negro Question and The Negro Question, respectively. Carlyle sees agriculture as the system capable of producing items that are valuable to humans. Mill, on the other hand, recognizes agriculture as an ongoing and hopefully mutually beneficial relationship between earth and human. Their differences in opinions are best represented in their respective treatments of commodities and land use. Throughout the Occasional Discourse Carlyle harps on the shame of cultivating pumpkins. The base supports the emulsion, which consists of small silver halide crystals suspended in gelatin. The crystals are Silver Iodobromide (silver bromide with added silver iodide). (Earle L. • 21. Differences Between Platonism And Nominalism And Explain... 1. Platonists argue that the best explanation for why two red hats resemble each other is that they each instantiate the universal redness. Are they right? What does it mean to say that something instantiates a universal ? In this paper I will explain the notion of universals, and argue why Platonism is the more correct view, as opposed to Nominalism and Fictionalism. I will also clarify the major differences between Platonism and Nominalism, and explain how they function as philosophical ideologies. Platonists or realists in other terms claim that abstract objects are physical; that they exist in some palpable way. Plato, from whom the term is believed to have originated, was with the idea that universals, like redness , existed independently from the individual entities (particulars). Platonic realism states that such objects do exist autonomously from the particular. Platonism is the metaphysical opinion that abstract objects exist. Abstract objects are solely non spatiotemporal, they are also completely non physical. Abstract objects are extremely central features regarding the context of philosophy. Abstract objects are comprised of all the names and categories of things. These types are abstract. So, for example, a chair is both the token (actual chair) and the type (an abstract classifying as such). This can contain universals, numbers, and ideas like redness , concepts like courage and justice, and even individual humans, such as John Smith. Platonists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Abolishment Of The Juvenile Courts I am arguing against the abolishment of the juvenile courts, as opposed to the alternative, which leaves juveniles no chance of rehabilitation and returning to society. The intent of the juvenile court was to rehabilitee and return the juvenile to society through intervention and supervision, rather than focusing on the guilt and punishment. The juvenile courts were given great discretion to evaluate the individual needs of each juvenile. Therefore, the juvenile courts were designed to operate like social welfare agencies to focus on the best interests of the child. The juvenile courts purpose is to recognize the differences between juveniles and adults. The doctrine of parens patriac give judges the authority to act in loco parentis, basically permits the state to act in place of the parents. Throughout the years the juvenile courts acted under a traditional model of treatment and rehabilitation, which all brought concerns about excessive punishment and lack of legal protections for juveniles that extended due process protections to juveniles. But Beowulf was a great warrior, and he knew that if Grendel s mother wanted someone to pay for her son s death, it must be him, the one who killed Grendel in the first place. Jane Eyre is a fictional autobiography which was written in 1848. It is about a young girl who is abused and tortured by her aunt and cousins, (the people she lives with). There are many ways that Charlotte Brounte creates sympathy for Jane in the first two chapters. However the four main ways are: the setting, the language used, the structure of the chapters and finally the social content. However in the second chapter, the setting changes from cold and damp to more of a gothic setting which is quite frightening. It is in this chapter, where Jane is locked into the Red Room. The reader would feel more sympathy for Jane at this point because the Red Room symbolises death and scares Jane a lot, (which is shown by her resistance to going into it). In the Red Room a gothic and mysterious feeling is presented to the reader. This is shown in the colours described in the Red Room such as red , crimson , pink etc. All of these colours give Jane a dark feeling and represent death and blood to her, as she already knows that her uncle s death had occurred in that room. The atmosphere, that is created in that room is quiet and gives Jane the feeling of being lonely. This creates sympathy as Jane has no one and is alone. The Red Room overall creates darkness as the colours of the furniture are darkly polished and the blinds on the windows are always drawn down . This adds and emphasises the effect it has on Jane because she becomes more frightened. Another way in which sympathy is created for Jane is through the language used to describe Jane herself. • 35. Viable Alternative Energy For Replace Fossil Fuels Viable Alternative Energy to Replace Fossil Fuels Nauman Syed Zia University of Houston Nearly all of the United States production of energy comes from non renewable sources, also known as fossil fuels. However, the problem with using fossil fuels to satisfy the United States ever growing demand for power is that they are a limited resource and their production and usage cause a myriad of harmful environmental effects. There are other sources of energy available that do not run out and are much more environmentally friendly such as wind, solar and hydro power. The government should take further action into transitioning from environmentally damaging non renewable fossil fuels to cleaner and more permanent alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based of the origins of these fossil fuels, it is easy to see how incredibly slow the fossil fuel process is. In fact, the process is so slow that regeneration is negligible. Continued use of these fossil fuels will cause them to rapidly run out. Basically, when these fuels run out, they are gone forever. Its simply a matter of time until the United States will need other sources of power, and it is a smart move to act now on creating sustainable methods of energy rather than wait until the nation is forced to switch. The attractive feature of using alternative energy such as wind, solar, and hydro power is the assurance of renewability. There will always be naturally occurring winds, moving water, and radiation from the sun that can be converted to energy. The United States government should invest its time and resources into implementing these energy sources in order to secure sustainable energy. These alternative energy sources are more environmentally appealing as they do not cause nearly as much environmental damage that fossil fuels do. Aside from fossil fuel s long term non sustainability, the United States should shift to renewable resources because of the detrimental effects fossil fuels pose to the environment and people. The use of fossil fuels lead to an increase in air pollution, water pollution, land pollution, and even global warming. His purpose was to encourage the faithful on The spiritual privileges of the Church, and The spiritual responsibilities of the Church. You may be wondering why I did not mention the list of individuals mentioned earlier. The reason is this passage carries much debate and I want to address it before we move forward. There are two interpretations on this passage. The first interpretation uses the words And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelist, and some as pastors and teachers (NASB). This interpretation develops the idea that there are particular roles or offices that Christ appoints individuals into. Therefore, some are gifted as apostles or prophets ect. The second interpretation is that Christ gave all these individuals for the building of his body. This problem exist because of grammer. Both the word some and the can modify the nouns apostles, prophets ect. Although both interpretations possess validity, based on context the best interpretation of the passage is the apostles, the prophets etc. I know I have taken a long time to make this point but bare with me. The reason this detail matters, is that if we use the first interpretation, then only a few believers are given these specific roles of ministry. The second interpretation develops the idea that Christ gives all believers the ability to exercise the various roles. In order, to equip his people for the building of his body. In addition, ... The Mortality Of Maternal Mortality Essay In 2013, 289 000 women died during pregnancy and childbirth and it was estimated that everyday 800 women all over the world died from childbirth or childbirth related problems (World Health Organization, 2014). Often, maternal mortality is found to occur more often in developing countries than developed countries. Maternal mortality refers women who died from the situation like during pregnancy, termination of pregnancy within 42 days, regardless of duration and place of pregnancy, from aggravation caused by the pregnancy or pregnancy management (Nwagha et al, 2010). Maternal mortality may be resulted from direct or indirect cause. Direct causes are from obstetric complications of pregnancy, labour, and puerperium, and interventions whereas indirect causes are from the worsening of current conditions by pregnancy or delivery (Givewell, 2009). This paper aims to examine the causes for maternal mortality in both developed and developing countries and will end with a proposal for government to ensure women are given reproductive health rights. Developed countries In his article, Why are so many U.S. women dying during childbirth? , Munz (2012) pointed out that U.S. is experiencing a rise in maternal mortality. It has doubled for the last 25 years and the experts are uncertain about the increase. Blake compares the relationship between the Indian warriors and Dunbar to schoolboys. By doing this, Blake implies that the men are comfortable together and and accepting of each other. Also, at this point in the book, Wind In His Hair and Stone Calf joke around with Dunbar about his love for Stands With A Fist. This proves how far the men have come in their relationship. At the beginning of the novel, the Indians would have been against any romantic relationship between an Indian woman and a white man. However, by the end of the book, they do not pay attention to the race of Dunbar; rather, they care about his kind personality and the other favorable qualities he possesses. To continue, Blake uses many other quotes to demonstrate the strong relationship between the Indians and Dunbar. At first glance, the painting depicts a horde of dead animals on top of a table, morbidly displayed. With the abundance of food placed on the table, the small section of the painting with the child pickpocketing creates a sense of enragement in the viewers. The animals set on the table such as the swan and the hog notify the readers that these animals are not for common people, but for the wealthy. The painting The ship of Patience was created by an unknown 18th century painter in Cuzco, Peru. The purpose of the painting seems to demonstrate the movement and expansion of Christianity overseas. The striking angelic figure in the sky shows a clear contrast with the frightening devils on the ground. By labeling each figure and person the painter was able to create an easy visual image for the natives to learn from. Without knowing anything about Christianity the painting clearly has Jesus Christ in the sole center person of the painting.
