Grand Duchess Anastasia Research Paper
The Grand Duchess Anastasia The mystery of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna has
perplexed people for many years. A majority of people have questioned what really happened on
the night of the Nikolaevna s murder, and if there were any survivors of her family at all. Many
wondered if there was any way possible for anyone to escape their awful fate that night. The
mystery of Anastasia Nikolaevna is still puzzling to this day. The Romanov s were of royalty in
Russia. Her father, Nicholas II, was the last tsar of Russia, making the family known throughout
Russia and other countries. Anastasia was the youngest of three sisters with one younger brother,

their young son, who had regular medical fits; these included excessive bleeding, often known as
hemophilia. The Nikolaevna s lived a fairly normal life ruling Russia, until the break out of World
War I. During World War I Nicholas II was determined to lead his army. When Emperor Nicholas II

the Bolsheviks they were being protected from an advancing attack, but were met with something
much worse. As the Nikolaevna family entered the basement, they were bombarded with gunfire,

The Impact of Japanese Mlb Players
In the 1870 s, Japanese baseball began, but at that time, baseball players played wearing kimonos
and bare feet. Nowadays, most American baseball enthusiasts know Japanese top level players, such
as Daisuke Matsuzaka, Hideki Matsui, and Ichiro Suzuki because they have many accomplishments
in the highest level baseballleague MLB [Major League Baseball]. Many Japanese professional
baseball players are trying to move to America, as a result by 2009 16 Japanese players belonged
to MLB teams (48 players born in Japan). Although there are not many players from Japan playing
in America, the ones playing have had a great impact on Japanese baseball. Moreover, many of the

On November 4th, 2009, Hideki Matsui, who is a New York Yankeesoutfielder, became the first
Japanese born player to win the World Series MVP. He lead the Yankees to the World
Championship, he hit .615 with three home runs, and eight RBI s. In addition, in Game 6, he
batted in six runs, which is a Series game RBI record (Ben Walker). Therefore, Murakami,
Nomo, Ichiro and Matsui s activities affect a lot of Japanese baseball players, and many have
started to have hope of going to America, and their activities will become a gateway of Japanese
baseball players in America. Impact for Japanese People Japanese MLB players have a huge
impact for Japanese because they give courage, hope and a challenging spirit, so they became
the heroes of many Japanese. During the 1940 s to 1980 s, only a few Japanese baseball players

national heroes like Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and Whitey Ford. In Japan, they have
players like Sadaharu Oh, who played as an infielder for the Yomiuri Giants. During his 22 year
career, Sadaharu Oh hit a total of 868 home runs, surpassing Hank Aaron s Major League record
755 home runs. According to Baseball Reference.com, forty eight MLB players were born in

How Did Karen Horney Contribute To Psychology
Topic A woman with many attributes in the Psychology field is out of the ordinary, but Karen
Horney did just that. She paved the way for women around the world to make it far in life.
Karen did her best to prove that women do make a difference in the world and can be just as
beneficial as men. Starting out she was forced to live a life of depression and struggle, but unlike
most she turned it into a future (Boeree, 2012). Living her life on the path of discovery, Horney
wanted to work out different ways for people to cope with life struggle, rather than push them
aside (Boeree, 2012). This lead to her studies in psychoanalysis and neurology, which would give
her the fame and structure that was needed to make a life for herself and those whom... Show more

As Horney first discovered, neurosis was something that would describe the condition that came
with her life of misfortunes (Langenderfer). Neurosis is defined as a mild mental illness that is
caused by constant stressors, in Horney s case the death of loved ones and her father s abusive
temperament (Langenderfer). With Horney s past being considered, psychologists were able to
gear their research around children, in hopes of taking away their anxiety (Ingram, 2012). Having
this knowledge made it easy for a psychologist to work with children while showing parents how
the challenges can affect their child in the long run. The study of neurosis was one of Karen s
psychic disturbances brought on by fears and the patients attempt to put them aside (Langenderfer).
Karen s studies were determined to explain that those fighting with neurosis were dealing with
inner struggles. Neurosis is seen as an inability to adapt to the environment, to change one s life,
and a more satisfying personality

Mark Twain Conclusion
Mark Twain
Let us endeavour so to live so that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.
― Mark Twain
Mark Twain was an influential writer, who not only wrote books with a sense of humour, but also
with an intellect like no one else. He wrote many books, of which The Adventure of Tom Sawyer
and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn have become timeless classics. This essay will give
a description of Mark Twains life, his written literature and what his work has done for the literary
world.
When Mark Twain was born in 1835, he got the name Samuel Langhorne Clemens. Around 1863
he later legally changed his name to Mark Twain, when he worked as a riverboat pilot. In his
childhood, Mark Twain grew up in Hannibal, along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mark Twain always came up with quotes from his books, and because of an intense curiosity I
started reading his two classics. These books made me feel a variation of emotions, such as
happiness and acute desire to learn history and many more. He had an abrupt way of telling
things as they were, and a lot of people, including me, were and are drawn to his stories because
they do not refine people or society. His tranquil literary style has given these books a sense of
rawness to the emotions his characters feel in his books, and the fact that Mark Twain is able to
transmit these emotions that goes to the roots of human nature, through only pieces of paper is
one of the many reasons why he is an author that almost everybody knows of. He has not only
opened many people s eyes, but also motivated great authors, such as Ernest Hemingway and
William Falkner. Mark Twain is able to create characters that can see their environment from
several perspectives, a great talent to have and it teaches everybody who reads The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn , and The Adventure of Tom Sawyer the basic intuition of seeing things from
other people s perspective.
To conclude, Mark Twain is still relevant today and he teaches people the importance of empathy,
but also gives an insight to how unjust the society was before. He has written many great things, a
lot of them based on humour, such as The Adventures of

Compare And Contrast Utopian And Dystopia
: Utopian and Dystopian Literature
There are several definitions for utopia: some philosophers say that utopia is a perfect happy and
ideal place or island. Sir Thomas More (1478 1535) sees that utopia is the perfect attitudes and
behavior of people who seek happiness. He believes that utopian citizens are committed to the
happiness of other people as well as to their own pleasure; they are cheerful and always seek the
public good. Lois Lowry defines utopia as a place that there is no poverty, starvation,
unemployment, lack of housing, or prejudice; everything is good and there are no problems.
Thomas Hurka sees that it is about what is right and promotes certain objective human goods such
as knowledge, achievement, and deep personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ending can be positive or negative and has a moral lesson. The hero can be a tragic hero and
has a tragic flaw. The ending is left for the reader to decide what is right and what is wrong.
Usually the hero wants to change something in his or her society and willing to affect a change.
Masses are not important; they are just part of the whole. Ambition is only for the progress of
the society. Many works describe people describe people as numbers. In every novel, clothes
and their hair is the same (Ferris 14). Aldus Leonard Huxley (1894 1963) is one of the pioneers.
He was an English novelist. He was best known for his novel Brave New World (1932) which is
set in a dystopian London. His themes are suffering, science, freedom, confinement, society and
class. Lois Lowry (1937 ) is an American writer. She wrote The Giver 1993. She used many
themes such as: pain, pleasure, loneliness, isolation, and individuality (Baccolinio 33). The
Giver is one of the greatest masterpieces. It is a 1993 American young adult novel by Lois Lowry.
It is set in society which at first appear to be utopian but is revealed to be dystopian as the story
progresses. The main theme in the novel is the importance of the memory. Eewhon (1872) is a
novel by Samuel Butler. The title is also the name of a country which is discovered by the
protagonist. The writer means nowhere in the title. The novel has two main themes; religion and

This aspect increased maritime trade thus increasing the Gross Domestic Product of nations. Since
its inception, the concept of insurance has been revolutionized and is comprehensive enough to
cater for a wide array of risks: man made or natural risks (Westall 2002 p 95). Every insurance
company must as a prerequisite employ financial risk advisors. The financial risk advisors
herein are referred to as actuaries. They serve the function of assessing the risk of a particular
policy and prescribing the amount of premium payable as well as determining the financial
viability of any policy. In doing so, the financial risk advisors base their opinions on the
historical information available. There are two types of risks; manmade and natural disaster.
Man made risks as is ostensible, is derivative of man s actions. They include, though not limited
to, automobile or fire risks. Such risks are highly frequent and less severe; in respect to the
insurer. Consequent to this, a proliferation of information is readily available to estimate the
likelihood of prospective loss. On the other hand, natural risks are derivative of nature. They are
less frequent and very severe. Subsequently, information on the likelihood of loss and occurrence
is minimal. This aspect makes it very difficult to cover natural disasters. Be that as it may, as will
be elaborated, the advent of science and technology has generated a

Roles Of Women In Ancient Greek Literature

Roles of Women in Ancient Greek Literature The roles of women in ancient times is undeniably
important. They were the center of the home and the center of the family. Family was most
important in these times, especially the fact that all men needed heirs, without women this would
not happen. They were cunning seductresses, obedient housewives, givers of life and the center of
all households. They were not given citizenship or had political power, but held power and
influence none the less. Women were not worthy of education and were meant to stay subservient.
They were thought of as worth less than a man, but where would men be without women? There
were also female gods or deities,

Differences And Characteristics Of Inductive Reasoning
Characteristics of Inductive Reasoning
Inductive reasoning is not designed to produce mathematical certainty. Induction occurs when we
gather bits of specific information together and use our own knowledge and experience in order to
make an observation about what must be true. Inductive reasoning does not use syllogisms, but
series of observations, in order to reach a conclusion. Consider the following chains of observations:
Observation: John came to class late this morning.
Observation: John s hair was uncombed.
Prior experience: John is very fussy about his hair.
Conclusion: John overslept
The reasoning process here is directly opposite to that used in deductive syllogisms. Rather than
beginning with a general principle (People who comb their hair wake up on time), the chain of
evidence begins with an observation and then combines it with the strength of previous
observations in order to arrive at a conclusion.
The most basic kind of inductive reasoning is called generalization. You generalize whenever you
make a general statement (all salesmen are pushy) based on observations with specific members
of that group (the last three salesmen who came to my door were pushy). You also generalize
when you make an observation about a specific thing based on other specific things that belong
to the same group (my girlfriend s cousin Ed is a salesman, so he will probably be pushy.) When
you use specific observations as the basis of a general conclusion, you are said to be making an

in comparison with males. 2 Data not only included quantitative and qualitative elements, but also

11 Deeper analysis also showed that the men who were in education usually are in the secondary
level or advance more quickly to the collegiate level to educate as opposed to the female. 12 A
prime example of this is found even among musical subjects. 13 Research showed 67% of males
were band directors, 77% of males were jazz instructors and 71% of general music or lower level
choral music teachers were female. 14
While these and other statistics are alarming and troublesome, the idea is to deal with the problem
gathered from the results of this and other research. 15 The authors admit there is a need for more
research in this and other publications. 16 If these inequalities exist in this publication,
the authors agree that it certainly must exist in many others. 17 They suggest that there should be a
team of editors as opposed to one or two, who take time to scrutinize and pay attention to issues
pertaining to equitable representation in images placed in all further publications. 18 By searching
for a more diverse set of stock images and encouraging a balance in submissions from both sexes,
this should minimize and hopefully eliminate inequity in future publications. 19 This also includes
an equitable representation of music education media for publishers authors and other contributors
alike. 20

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome Research Paper
Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) is a term that is used when describing pain in the anterior
knee and surrounding areas of the joint. PFPS is most prevalent in athletes, women, and young
adults but can also occur in other populations as there are several factors that contribute to PFPS
such as overuse injuries, which put a great amount of force and stress on the kneeand can contribute
to patellar misalignment. Activities such as jogging, squatting, and climbing stairs all put increased
force on the knee joints. These repetitive motions and force can cause PFPS especially if the
activity s frequency, duration, or surfaces are changed. Skeletal misalignments between the hips,

using LEFS and pain will be measured using the NPRS. I propose starting this study with 100

home quadriceps/hip combination strengthening program for 6 weeks, while group 2 will perform

the data must have normal distribution, equal variance, ratio or interval scale of measurement,
sphericity, measurements of two or more times, and at least two independent groups. One strength
of this design is that it is able to look at multiple things at once; it can compare two independent

How Attitudes And Behaviors Are Affected By The Onset Of...
This literature review seeks to illustrate how attitudes and behaviors are affected by the onset of
menarche and menstruation through a woman s life. A young women s introduction to
menstruation are constructed by both positive and negative perceptions and are then perpetuated by
the influences of culture, religion, family members, and the media (Rembeck, Möller Gunnarsson,
2006; Roberts, 2004). In turn these influences typically create negative attitudes towards
menstruation, which affect a woman s body image leading to self objectification, and causing
disconnection from their mother, themselves, and other women. Most discussion concerning
menarcheare perpetuated negatively especially through the media, promoting its existence as a
shameful event that requires hygienic management (Stubbs Costos, 2004). Through engagement of
dialogues throughout religious texts and within familial members primarily the matriarch, girls and
women are conditioned to believe they must control their menstruating bodies quietly and secretly.
Menstruation can be described as a Jekyll and Hyde phenomenon (Stubbs, 2008), which causes a
disconnection from self. Most women describe their menstruating selves as a completely different
person from their normal selves. Topics explored within this paper will guide research for future
exploratory or empirical studies.
Through out history menstruating women have been excluded from religious activities and
ceremonies in certain sects of Judaism,

Allopathy
1.Allopathic medicine is an expression commonly used by homeopaths and proponents of other
forms of alternative medicine to refer to mainstream medical use of pharmacologically active
agents or physical interventions to treat or suppress symptoms or pathophysiologic processes of
diseases or conditions. The expression was coined in 1810 by the creator of homeopathy, Samuel

the broad category of medical practice that is sometimes called Western medicine, biomedicine,

Assembling In The Iliad

Assembling in The Iliad
(Holding councils of war or holding assemblies) Every great war in history has been determined,
to some extent, by the powerful strategies executed by one party of the war. These strategies ,
most of the time, are not the brainchild of one individual, but more or less a group of people
collaborating toward one strategy effective enough to turn the tides of battle. The most effective
way for important leaders to voice their opinions for their next endeavor is achieved through the
use of assemblies. Assemblies were very important to the armies in the Trojan War
, as both sides
had great power, meaning that cunning strategy would be the winning factor for one of the
parties involved in the Trojan War. However, assemblies held during the Trojan War were more
one sided toward the authoritative figures rather than a true collaboration between leaders and
wise men. These assemblies follow a simple pattern: a leader calls out to the army to form an
assembly when he sees it fit; then, the leaders and wise men then collaborate and voice their
opinions on the matter at hand; and finally, the figure with the highest authority in the assembly
decides what to do next as a result of the assembly. The assembly begins with an important leader
calling for one when he sees it fit to form one. For example, an assembly was called by Achilles
due to concerns from the plague in Book 1; it was revealed that

How Technology Has Changed Our Lives
Introduction Today a lot of people use technology such as computers, smartphones, and tablets to
get information, to buy something, and to communicate with family and friends. Since
technology has been developed, people s lives have also been changed. One of the examples is
that many companies have started to sell their products through the Internet and customers look
for goods and buy them on the Internet. Before technology was developed, people had to go to
stores to purchase products. However, we can look for and purchase products whenever and
wherever we want now. Shopping has become more convenient. I also often use technology to buy
products, especially flight tickets. Since I came to the United States, whenever I go traveling or go
back to Japan during breaks, I used an online travel agency, Expedia, to purchase my flight tickets.
This is because it is very convenient. I can search and reserve my flight quickly. Usually, I do not
have any problem with Expedia, but I had trouble with it because of technology during this spring
break. I think that if humans operated the service, the problem did not happen.
My Ineffective Service Technology experience During this spring break, I went to Florida with
my family. At first, I booked my round trip flight tickets from Omaha to Orlando and from
Orlando to Omaha through the Internet with Expedia. However, the day before I left for Orlando,
I realized that my car s condition was not great to go to the Omaha airport. The time

Rejection In Edward Scissorhands
Life is not always fair. Many times people have been turned down, had the door slammed in their
faces or have been told, No . But it is this rejection that helps people get back on their feet.
Sometimes it is this rejection that builds strength and character in the person. In the movie
Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton (the director) has shown that rejection affects everyone, but
it can help to make some people stronger and brings out a side of the person that wasn t there
before. People are rejected every day, sometimes based purely on how they look or act. In today s
society, it is quite common for people to be refused, if they decide to be different. In Edward

Queen Of The Damned By Anne Rice
Queen of the Damned
What was once a terrifying creature has now been turned into something that sparkles and seduces
seventeen year old girls. Vampire movies have really changed over the years, each having their
own way of displaying vampires to their audiences. Anne Rice, the author of the book Queen of the
Damned, shows vampires in a way that most wouldn t consider normal. Bringing the immortal into
the music culture allows Rice s main character Lestat to feel on top of the world again. With a
healthy balance of blood and death, this movie allows its audience to learn Lestat s history, while a
dark soundtrack provides the scenery. All vampiremovies include one thing that sets the plot in
motion; they must keep their existence a secret no matter what. Based on that one thing it can
cause many different outcomes depending on the characters in the story. Queen of the Damned is
what I like to call a real vampire movie. The soundtrack really sets up the movie during the death
and the feeding scenes that are a must have in this certain kind of movie. It s not enough to simply
have the present day information being set up, but having a good understanding on how the plot all
came together can make or break this genre. A vampire s back story allows an emotional
connection with the main character which is something that makes the movie even better. The
audience wants to feel like they are actually in the movie and experiencing all the problems.

existence has been around since the beginning of time. The paranormal is not what most people
believe it is, ghosts . There is a wide range in what is considered paranormal. In order to
understand the paranormal you must first understand the meaning of the word. The prefix Para
means beyond and normal. This gets you the result of beyond normal. Just because science cannot

Not to say that they are not signs of spirits, because an orb is a manifested sphere of energy.
Sometimes they are visible by the human eye but most of the time they are only viewable
through photographic lenses. Energy is plain and simple, energy everything you see and touch
has energy in it no matter what it is. Take the elements for example. Earth, wind, water, and fire.
These elements have mass amounts of energy that some people attempt to harness for their own
good. Such as making a Psy ball in the palm of their hand. Psy pronounced sigh is the act of
making an orb in your hand. It s not evil or fake. I have read many cases of this event. There are
people that practice pyrokinesis and it is not the Hollywood classic of people making huge balls
of fire and throwing them at things burning them to the ground. It is more or less drawing the
energy from the fire and using it whether it be to create a psy ball or to get in touch with yourself.

Polar Bear Bones
Based on the jawbone s shape, scientists were confident that it belonged to an adult male polar
bear. The rock layers in which it was embedded, along with other dating techniques, suggest that
it is 110,000 to 130,000 years old older than any other known polar bear fossils. This date alone is
interesting because previous estimates for the origin of polar bears have ranged from 70,000 to
more than a million years ago. But, based on the new fossil s age, we can infer that the polar bear
lineage must be more than 110,000 years old. The anatomy and rocks in which the jawbone was
preserved provided useful information but the fossil had an even more powerful line of evidence:
DNA.
DNA breaks down over time, but new techniques allow scientists

Revolutionary War Dbq
Some major challenges Americans faced during the War for Independence was the lack of
organization at the beginning of the war they experienced difficulty with training and organizing
the troops for war. The soldiers were always drunk and not following directions, which caused
them to accidentally kill one another. Not all American supported the war, if it was believed that
you supported the war you would be imprisoned, abused or killed. The American Revolutionary
War, caused turmoil between American colonists and the British government which lead to the
Independence of Britain. I believe the British lost because their army wasn t large enough. What

Essay about Marketing Case Study for Barbie
Case Study I Barbie7 April 2011
This case study will examine five questions affecting the marketing of Barbie. It will consider the
environmental factors affecting Barbie, a SWOT analysis, her position and the implications of it in
the BCG Matrix, her target market, and my strategy if I was product manager of the Barbie line.
1. A number of environmental factors impact Barbie. Regarding the environmental factor of
competition, Barbie has two major competitors dolls from Spin Master Ltd, perhaps the hottest toy
maker in North America and dolls from Bratz (Zimmerman 1). The new models of these dolls both
made it to the market before her last model did. Regarding the economic factor, the average income
has gone down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the doll market expands internationally, too, Mattel has not always been successful at matching
or selling Barbie to local cultures. Many people from other non Western cultures want dolls that
match their culture, and Barbie frequently does not fit them. I could not find any political factors
that impact Barbie.
2. For this SWOT analysis of Barbie, I will identify at least one strength, weakness, opportunity,
and threat. A significant strength of Barbie is the long history of the brand, which has been in
the market for more than fifty years. Because of having that much time in the market, customers
are already familiar with it. Children grow up with Barbie, so when they become adults, they
will think of her when they think of dolls. Another strength is that the brand now has become
more than the doll and include video games and books about her as a character. So that gives the
company a broader market. For weakness, Barbie is part of and promotes a certain culture. So in
cultures, either within or outside the United States, that hold different values (especially for
women), she may not be as popular. For example, Barbie has been in the Saudi Arabian market for
many years, but she is still not as popular as a doll that matches the local culture more, named
Foulah, created by another company. For opportunities, Barbie is a worldwide brand. So there is an
opportunity for the company to use that reputation to increase its market share.

This is established at the beginning of Act 1, through an allusion to Christian philosophy in
Vladimir s dialogue about the fable of the two thieves, where One is supposed to have been
saved and the other damned . In his allusion to the Bible, Beckett emphasises chance being
woven into even the most sacred of texts that supposedly hold the ultimate truth for humanity.
Moreover, in his book Understanding Samuel Beckett (1990), Alan Astro highlights that it is
God s silence that causes the real hopelessness amidst all the comical actions of Beckett s
characters. He suggests, the recourse to bookkeeping by the philosopher (Pascal) no less than
the clownish tramp shows how helpless we are with respect to God s silence . However, while
Beckett s play is concerned with a loss of meaning, it raises a positive message, implying we are
free to give our own lives meaning and purpose, free to redeem our suffering by making
something of it (Kaufmann). While Beckett sees little reason for hope after witnessing the trauma
caused by the very weapons meant to preserve world peace, he is unable to relinquish it entirely.
This is evident in the symbol of the tree. The tree is central to the set design of the play, for the
sprouting of leaves in act 2, metaphorically suggests new life and resolution an image of hope

The Effects Of AIDS And The Media On The Gay Liberation...
The Effects of AIDS and the Media on the Gay Liberation Movement: The Constitution promises
liberty for all, regardless of one s sexual orientation. However, throughout courses of history in
America, homosexuals have lived in a conformist climate, and they have experienced various levels
of discrimination. Despite this, America also provided homosexuals with the power to fight their
oppressors, thus the Gay Liberation Movement. This movement was not one of linear pattern,
especially because of the effects of AIDS and the media. As a result of pre existing discrimination
and the stereotyping of homosexuals, the media and the public stigmatized AIDS, which
temporarily halted the progress of the Gay Liberation Movement; however, after the devastating
effects of the AIDS epidemic, the movement advanced as the media shifted the discussion of AIDS
and allowed for homosexuals to fight for proper treatment, research, and rights. Due to a conformist
society in which homosexuals felt oppressed by conservative views, homosexuals were
discriminated against and ridiculed, causing interruptions in the movement and a difficulty
advocating for their rights. Due to homosexuals lack of conformity to societal norms, many
believed homosexuals were not normal and needed to be fixed . So, doctors and psychiatrists used
electrical shock treatment; when homosexuals protested this and disrupted the psychiatrist parley,
their defense was that unhappy homosexuals came to them and requested

Fate In The Play Oedipus By William Winter
Fate is always there. It always has, and it always will be there. We all can choose the decisions
we make, but fate cannot be changed, since it has already been predetermined. What happens
will happen, but what changes will not change fate. Fate is also what changes you, if you think

Cirque Du Soleil s Current Existing Methods For...
To manage new talent and keep it fresh, Cirque Du Soleil needs to reevaluate current existing
methods to recruiting new performers. Simply refreshing the current existing method of casting
allows for Cirque to get consistent and reliable results without clearing out their bank accounts. An
ideal way of refreshing it is to publicize the auditions they currently hold with 20 countries. Instead
of holding private sessions like they do now, make it available to the public audience. The venue
will be paid for with cheap tickets that Cirque Du Soleilcan sell. Casting talent will not only be up
to the casting director(s), but the audience as well since they can influence the decision to cast
auditioners by their reaction to their performance. While this won t necessarily yield any
immediate profits, it will expand brand recognition, eliminate some of the issues that arise when
it comes to casting, and allow Cirque Du Soleil to see the kind of talent and performances that
truly resonate with people. AgnГЁs Roux statement supports this best. He states that each
performer came to work for the company in a different way. I auditioned in Paris, but some

most state anti abortion laws were unconstitutional. However, many rules were set into place. In
the first trimester of pregnancy (0 12 weeks), states could not interfere with any abortion. During
the second semester (13 28 weeks) states could allow a regulated abortion in ways that are

Analysis Of Seven Staircases Of Growth Strategies
Analysis of Seven Staircases to Growth
The distinctive seven staircases of growth strategies have been adopted by many successful
companies, such as Walt Disney, Gillette, Johnson Johnson, Home Depot, and many more. While
one single strategy may not yield a significant growth effect, implementing them concurrently and
consecutively can provide a powerful roadmap for near term and long term growth (Baghai, Coley,
White, 1996). Below is an analysis of Raytheon s seven staircases to continuous growth.
1.Maximizing existing customers:

3.Innovation of products and services
Innovation is an important factor to enhance and differentiate Raytheon s offerings from those of
the competitors. The company s success depends on its ability to develop new and innovative
products and technologies in responding to the customer s critical needs. Brown (1991) pointed out
that Innovation can be a powerful method of securing a sustainable competitive advantage in both
growing and mature markets (p. 196). Although technological innovation is the most recognizable
type, it s worth noting that innovation can come from anywhere and anyone in the organization.
For Raytheon, there s an innovation center at every major Raytheon s sites to encourage new and
innovative ideas from any employees, any functions, or grade levels.
4.Innovation of the value delivery system
Generally, the delivery system for government contracts is regulated by the Federal Acquisition
Regulations (FAR), which sets forth policies, procedures and requirements for the acquisition of
goods and services by the U.S. government. During the bidding process, innovation of the value
delivery system is difficult to achieve as the defense contract

Amir also grew up with his friend/servant named Hassan. Hassan is a Hazara boy that lived in the

with these character traits, some factors can be attributed to Amir s selfishness or cowardice. Baba,

somewhat of a shy person that likes to keep his thoughts and emotions bottled up inside, which is
not positive for anyone. Finally, the juristic difference in social classes in Afghanistanthat separate
Amir and Hassan also contribute to Amir s cowardice. Amir s upbringing and the society he lived
in directly attribute to Amir s cowardice. Baba treated Hassan as if he were his own child and this
proves to be harmful to Amir. During the winters in Kabul kite running was a staple activity and a

Noneconomic Damages Reform Essay
Noneconomic Damages Reform There has been over three decades of debate over a reform that
affects everything from insurance and health care premiums to the prices of goods and services.
The Tort law gives civilians the right to put liability on a company and sue for a multitude of
different things if something goes wrong. A main issue of the tort reformis noneconomic damages.
Noneconomic damages are awards granted for pain and suffering. A solution to this ongoing
problem is to set a cap, or ceiling, on the amount of compensation one can receive for his or her
pain and suffering. An issue with setting caps is that they are argued against as unconstitutional and

have implemented some sort of noneconomic damages reform. For example, in 1986 the Alaskan
government established a state cap of $500,000 on, noneconomic damages for cases that do not
involve any physical impairment or disfigurement. In 1997, Alaska adjusted the noneconomic
damages reform once more. In this modification of the reform, the state went into deeper detail
addressing different instances that could occur and the sufficient compensation for an
individual s pain and suffering. For a single death or injury to a greater extent of $400,000, they
are awarded as much as their life expectancy multiplied by $8,000. In another instance involving
severe disfigurement or physical impairment exceeding $1,000,000, it is the individual s life
expectancy (in years) multiplied by $25,000 (2). Many other states including Alabama,
California, Missouri, and other states have established their own type of cap or system for
awarding damages for pain and suffering. In states that have a cap or system of deciding awards,
they have lower insurance and health care premiums and the prices of goods and services stays
lower. This benefits the state s economy as well as the Nation s.
According to most news articles and journals interpreting the progression of the tort reform,
noneconomic damages reforms are the most common throughout the states. As

Wealth Inequality Of The United States
Wealth in the United States is generally thought to be distributed fairly as the highest earners have a
higher percentage of wealth. Although this common notion is technically correct, the wealth is not
spread as fairly as people might believe. The United States uses a free market, capitalistic economy,
which entails wealthinequality. However, the amount of wealth inequality depends on how the
government limits the wealthy. Interestingly enough, the government does not have regulations to
distribute the wealth more fairly as the top 1% of earners in the United Statesown about 40% of the
financial wealth in the country and the bottom 80% of earners own a measly 4.7%. Astonishingly,
the financial wealth for the top 20% increased from 1983 to 2010 meaning the wealth became more
concentrated at the higher socioeconomic tiers as time passed. These economic inequalities
benefited the wealthy as they gained political powers, controlled a large portion of the economic
market, and used capitalismto manipulate the public s perspective of the wealth distribution in the
United States. While wealth inequality is a result of capitalism, extremely wealthy people use their
wealth to exercise political power, but the average person does not understand that this is a corrupt
method of crippling the economy in favor of the ultra wealthy.
To begin, the wealthiest earners in the United States have more power politically and economically
than the rest of the population. To illustrate the

Subjugation of Women in No Name Woman
The Story Woman Warrior written by Maxine Hong Kingston in 1975, is a great representation of
what woman are characterized as in regards to being submissive or rebellious in their society, and
how, even though they are harshly treated, the women fight back instead of letting themselves be
subjugated, it exemplifies the hardships women face in their lives. In The Woman Warrior
: Memoirs
of a Girlhood Among Ghosts, Author Maxine Hong Kingstonbrings to the table a bunch of
allegorical and life stories that bring upon the hardships in which she, herself, must deal with the
sexist ideology and prejudice growing up young Chinese American girl. Throughout her life she
was called such racist and stereotypical names such as gook and is repeatedly told such chauvinist
Chinese sayings like girls are maggots in the rice by her own flesh and blood; her parents. Maxine
Hong Kingston feels isolated from modern American culture and from the patriarchal Chinese
culture.
In her recollection of her memories she reminisces of her search for female archetypes, while
involving some imaginative stories associating Chinese characters as Fa Mu Lan, a woman warrior
known to China; with thoughts of her own obstinate mother, Brave Orchid. Through these
numerous accounts, the narrator searches to proclaim her identity as a Chinese American female in
her own bicultural world. Amidst

The History Of Pop Art As An Art Movement
Pop Art is an art movement that started sometime during the 1950 s and 60 s, it is said that it
emerged first in the United Kingdom and slowly made its way to the United States. It
incorporates popular everyday symbols such as Disney, Coca Cola, McDonalds or any other
company conglomerate. Before pop art, art was being held to some crazy standards such as that
an art piece had to be unique, one of a kind ,deeply contemplative or philosophical; however,
people argued that this made art highly elitist and inaccessible to the masses. America during the
1950 s was in an era where film, television, advertisements and mass produced imagery on
magazines, comic books and news stands which allowed for these images to be burned into the
collective conscious minds of your average American because of these media. The American culture
undoubtedly began to be shaped by celebrities, consumer products and huge corporate brands.
Artists of this time recognized this trend and wanted to reflect this newly developed reality and
began to highlight the mass production and sensational nature of the mainstream media. Take the
famous pop artartists himself, Andy Warhol, for example, making multiple copies of the same
photograph over and over or Claes Oldenburg s overt larger than life depictions of decadence and
food consumption. Whether these artists did it intentionally or not, they called into question many
of the established values of art. Pop artists also brought attention to how other

Background to the Classic Works of Strategy from Sun Tsu to Jomini
Rousseau (2011) defines strategy as a link connecting military power and political purpose. He
emphasizes that strategy entails the use of threat and force to achieve policy objectives. Given
the unfortunate centrality of war to world events, strategy becomes a significant aspect in
providing a theory of success. The perennial popularity of books on military and application of
works of wisdom in the use of force today is unequivocal. Particularly, books that generally focus
of the theory of strategy, studies with varied meanings for all purposes, technologies, places, and
times are increasingly rare. In the past 2,400 years, only 3 classic works are significant on this
subject and no more than five have an enduring value (Rousseau, 2011). Sun Tzu s classic work on
The Art of Waris one such classic works basing on strategic theory that has implications for all
purposes, places, times, and technologies. Sun Tzu wrote his book in China in ca. 400 BC during
the era of Warring States, 403 221 BC (Rousseau, 2011, p. 79). Henri de Jomini s The Art of War
that he wrote in 1838 also deserves an honorable mention.

Queueing Theory In Hospital Management
Applications of queueing theory in hospital management: a literature review
Abstract
This paper reviews the applications and usage of the queueing theory in the aspect of health care
management problems. This paper review presents a way of optimizing the use of hospital
resources in order to improve hospital care. A queueing model is used to determine the main
characteristics of the access of patients to hospital beds, such as mean bed occupancy and the
probability that hospital care demand is lost because all beds are occupied. The aim of this paper
review is to provide detailed information to analysts who are interested in using queueing theory to
model a health care process and want to look into a technique for optimizing the number of beds in
order to maintain an acceptable delay probability at a sufficiently low level.

Thucydides Retelling Of The Peloponnesian War
In ancient Greek times, it was typical for all written texts to focus on the Greek Gods and their
omnipotence. Thucydides retelling of the Peloponnesian War is considered a secular text mainly
due to the fact that the work was one of the first of its time period to not put any emphasis on the
Gods. Many believe that the work s lack of religious referencing is what makes it secular;
however, under further examination, the reason the text does not discuss Gods could be due to the
overall topic and theme of the book. Since Thucydides is based primarily on the history of the
Peloponnesian War, the lack of referencing to the Gods may have been unintentional on Thucydides
part. The Old Testament, in opposition to Thucydides as a secular text, was written for religious
purposes. Since the Old Testament is predominantly composed of religious prophecies, and its
purpose is utilized in different religions, it is considered a religious work.
Thucydides wrote his work as a historical and objective work for readers to learn about the
Peloponnesian War. The lesson that readers are intended to learn from this work is that we must
learn from our past mistakes, such as going to war for no logical reasons. Thucydides may not
have incorporated any Gods into his work because of the fact that the purpose behind his objective
work was to teach future generations of mankind s faults of creating this war. Thucydides wrote
this as he first handedly observed the Peloponnesian War in Greece and

Comparing Christianity And Hinduism
Rites of passage within are crucial within culture and religion. Rites of passage help individuals
negotiate the transition from one state of being to another and provide an opportunity for the
community to express and celebrate its solidarity. In Christianity and Hinduism, ceremonies which

Sacraments are the visual aspect of invisible faith and are and expression of devotion to one s

This is an affirmation of the Faith one was inducted into at baptism and confession and committing
oneself formally to Christianity and devoting one s life to God. Those confirmed are recognized as
fully responsible members of the Church.
The sacrament of matrimony binds two people together as one. Marriage in the Christian religion
takes place in a church and is conducted by a priest. The couple makes vows to each other and God
and is a lifelong commitment.
Anointing of the Sick was once referred to as Extreme Unction. This sacrament previously was
only performed on those who were dying. Roman Catholics not only use this prayer and ritual to
help prepare a person for his or her death, but also to help a person regain health: mentally,
physically, or emotionally. Along with extreme unction, priests administer last rites, which gives the
dying the chance to confess once more. Anointing of the sick and the sacrament of confession are
called the Sacraments of Healing.
Holy Orders, or Ordination, occurs when a new priest is confirmed in an ordination ceremony. The
bishop preforms the ceremony and presents the priest with symbols of his new position, such as a
Bible. This sacrament inducts men into the clergy, passing on of the authority of the

Taking a Look at Correlational Studies
A correlational study is a quantitative research method, which there are two or more variables in
which the researchers goal is to determine a relationship using statistical data. The significance of
this approach is that is does not analyze or try to prove cause and effect type patterns or
relationships. Using this type of researchstudy can determine behaviors in human actions or any
other variables that can be evaluated for a relationship. Using a correlational approach can be a
stepping stone for further experimental studies and is an important approach used in educational
research.
Correlational Research
Correlational research is a type of study in which two non manipulated variables are measured to
determine if there is a relationship. This type of research observes the connection between the two
variables. Correlational research is often called Association research and has two basic purposes. In
the remainder of this text, the purposes, steps, threats and a comparison of correlational research
will be discussed.
There are two basic purposes of correlational research. The first purpose would be to help explain
human behaviors, such as behaviors in an Explanatory design. In this type of design the extents to

The Myth Of Beauty Chapter 6 Analysis
All humans have an imagination. Frye speaks upon how those who read literature and analyze it
has a well educated imagination. However, those who are left, do not have an imagination or it
is easily influenced. In Chapter 6, Frye says Advertising is one example, though an obvious one,
of the deliberate creation of an illusion in the middle of real life. (85) Frye interprets advertising
as an illusion in life that a purpose. This connects to the beauty industry, specifically cosmetics
displays the perfect image that the public must embody. However, it is known there is the chance
of becoming the perfect face of beauty is impossible. The illusion made by the beauty industry is

The development has created much controversy because how it decides to present its perception.
Humanity is at fault for how the beauty industry decides how to advertise the perfect image. Yet, in
the twenty first century, there has been a turn of events. Those have educated imaginations are
realizing how one standard of beauty is not enough for the millions of versions of beauty there are.
Despite, wanting to have no standards of beauty, the educated know that this is no physically
possible. Frye perfectly summarizes, The fundamental job of the imagination in ordinary life, then,
is to produce, out of the society we have to live in, a vision of the society we want to live in.
Obviously, that can t be a separated society, so we have to understand how to relate the two. (86)
The educated imagination interprets how they want their society without losing the connection to
what we live in. The beauty industry represents the society we live in: superficial, materialistic,
and self indulgent. The educated imagination represents the ideal society: accepting of all and
self confidence. Although it cannot be the ideal society, there are still possibilities of a society
where beauty is not a forced by people sitting at a board table. The mixture of these two societies
can develop into a society where beauty is not only external but internal. Having the educated teach
the weak imaginations how to comprehend the repercussions of the beauty industry, but still,
understand it is difficult to change a hundred year old tradition. Standards of beauty will always be
part of society, it is just how will society determine what is an illusion and

How The Cold War Changed The Emergence Of Marvel Comics
The Superhero comics and storylines has always been an integral part of the world s cultural
history and the combination of historical events with fantasy themes has made them irresistible to
comic book readers of various generations.
Starting from the Great Depression in Europe, characters like Superman and Batman laid the
foundation for the liberal superhero tradition which is still prevalent. That was followed by the
Second World War where the superheroes assumed far greater roles the fighter for their country
and a source of inspiration for the Americans back home. This was also the beginning of patriotic
propaganda in the storylines which became a trend in the wartime editions of major superhero
comic books.
The end of World War II was not good news for the publishers as it served as their primary
storyline for a very long time, and as a result, the focus shifted to horror stories which were
designed to appeal to the more mature audience. But, the beginning of the Cold War saw an attack
against the comic book industry by Dr. Fredric Wertham and the United States government on the

characters and as a result, a lot of social issues were captured by the artists of this generation
through the comic books. Thus, established superheroes like Batman and Green Lantern started
tackling social issues like gang violence and drugs where were considered to be taboo till that

it is to be part of a community, providing a sense of belonging. Throughout the story, Junior
experiences circumstances where he faces and realizes his split personality of being Indian and
white at the same time. Sherman Alexie demonstrates this by saying, They call [Junior] an apple
because they think I m red on the outside and white on the inside (132). In addition, this describes
how Junior has to embrace being white at Reardan and he also has to embrace his Indian self back
on the reservation. An example is when Junior was determined to go to Reardan for a more

Macular Degeneration in Two Forms Essay
Macular Degeneration in Two Forms
Macular Degeneration is a disease of the eye that gradually causes loss of a person s central
vision. Approximately 1.75 million Americans suffer from vision loss associated with the disease
(All About Vision 1). The leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 60, Macular
Degeneration, exists in two types (National Eye Institute 1). Both the wet and dry versions of the
disease have similarities in risk factors, but differ in symptoms and treatments.
Although the causes of each type of the Macular Degeneration are different, the risk factors are
essentially the same. The wet form of the disease is caused by small blood vessels that grow
beneath the retina. The blood vessels leak blood and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dry form is broken down into three stages; Early, Intermediate, and Advanced (National Eye
Institute 3). In the Early stage, people have several small or few medium yellow deposits under
the retina called drusen. This stage shows no symptoms or vision loss. During the second stage,
Intermediate, more medium or even large deposits happen. As this happens, a blurred spot can
develop and more light could be needed for reading. Lastly, in the Advanced stage, a breakdown of
light sensitive cells and tissue causes the blurred spot to enlarge and darken. In this latter stage,
facial recognition is unlikely unless the person is extremely close. Either form of Macular
Degeneration can only be detected by thorough eye exams. The exam should include visual acuity,
which measures sight at varied distance intervals. Also, dilation of the eyes will allow an
ophthalmologist to check the retina and optic nerve. An instrument called a Tonometer will
measure pressure within the eyes (National Eye Institute 6).
Treatment options exist for the wet type; however, the dry has none. The wet version of Macular
Degeneration can be treated with laser surgery, photodynamic therapy, and direct injections in order
to try to slow the progression. Laser surgery is used to subdue the leaking blood vessels. During
this procedure, healthy blood vessels and tissue may inadvertently be damaged.

Impacts Of The Shikoku Pilgrimage
Shikoku Pilgrimage
Is the Omairingu project inspiring or ridiculous?
Introduction
The Shikoku Henro is a Buddhist Pilgrimage visiting eighty eight Buddhist Temples in Shikoku to
commemorate one of the most famous Japanese Buddhist Monks KЕ«kai as known as KЕЌbЕЌ
Daishi. This pilgrimage is a training bringing both physical and spiritual benefits to pilgrims
through its intensive process. Nevertheless, due to the consequences of rapid modernization in
Japan, cultural practices like Shikoku Henro are at threats of erosion because of the increasing
concentration of Japanese people on fulfilling material life rather than enriching spiritual
experience. Facing challenges of being eternally forgotten, Shikoku Pilgrimage needs a greater
dynamic to continue preserving its quintessence. One of the possible solutions that were already
implemented is giving birth to the Omairingu manga, anime and cosplay pilgrimage in attempts to
reintroduce this holy practice in a more pop cultural approach. However, the Omairingu concept is
quite controversial among traditional pilgrims and pop culture fans on how much is too much to

Mark Twain always came up with quotes from his books, and because of an intense curiosity I started reading his two classics. These books made me feel a variation of emotions, such as happiness and acute desire to learn history and many more. He had an abrupt way of telling things as they were, and a lot of people, including me, were and are drawn to his stories because they do not refine people or society. His tranquil literary style has given these books a sense of rawness to the emotions his characters feel in his books, and the fact that Mark Twain is able to transmit these emotions that goes to the roots of human nature, through only pieces of paper is one of the many reasons why he is an author that almost everybody knows of. He has not only opened many people s eyes, but also motivated great authors, such as Ernest Hemingway and William Falkner. Mark Twain is able to create characters that can see their environment from several perspectives, a great talent to have and it teaches everybody who reads The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn , and The Adventure of Tom Sawyer the basic intuition of seeing things from other people s perspective. To conclude, Mark Twain is still relevant today and he teaches people the importance of empathy, but also gives an insight to how unjust the society was before. Since its inception, the concept of insurance has been revolutionized and is comprehensive enough to cater for a wide array of risks: man made or natural risks (Westall 2002 p 95). Every insurance company must as a prerequisite employ financial risk advisors. The financial risk advisors herein are referred to as actuaries. They serve the function of assessing the risk of a particular policy and prescribing the amount of premium payable as well as determining the financial viability of any policy. In doing so, the financial risk advisors base their opinions on the historical information available. There are two types of risks; manmade and natural disaster. Man made risks as is ostensible, is derivative of man s actions. They include, though not limited to, automobile or fire risks. Such risks are highly frequent and less severe; in respect to the insurer. Consequent to this, a proliferation of information is readily available to estimate the likelihood of prospective loss. Induction occurs when we gather bits of specific information together and use our own knowledge and experience in order to make an observation about what must be true. Inductive reasoning does not use syllogisms, but series of observations, in order to reach a conclusion. Consider the following chains of observations: Observation: John came to class late this morning. Observation: John s hair was uncombed. Prior experience: John is very fussy about his hair. Conclusion: John overslept The reasoning process here is directly opposite to that used in deductive syllogisms. Rather than beginning with a general principle (People who comb their hair wake up on time), the chain of evidence begins with an observation and then combines it with the strength of previous observations in order to arrive at a conclusion. The most basic kind of inductive reasoning is called generalization. You generalize whenever you make a general statement (all salesmen are pushy) based on observations with specific members of that group (the last three salesmen who came to my door were pushy). You also generalize when you make an observation about a specific thing based on other specific things that belong to the same group (my girlfriend s cousin Ed is a salesman, so he will probably be pushy.) When you use specific observations as the basis of a general conclusion, you are said to be making an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

PFPS is most prevalent in athletes, women, and young adults but can also occur in other populations as there are several factors that contribute to PFPS such as overuse injuries, which put a great amount of force and stress on the kneeand can contribute to patellar misalignment. Activities such as jogging, squatting, and climbing stairs all put increased force on the knee joints. These repetitive motions and force can cause PFPS especially if the activity s frequency, duration, or surfaces are changed. This literature review seeks to illustrate how attitudes and behaviors are affected by the onset of menarche and menstruation through a woman s life. A young women s introduction to menstruation are constructed by both positive and negative perceptions and are then perpetuated by the influences of culture, religion, family members, and the media (Rembeck, MГ¶ller Gunnarsson, 2006; Roberts, 2004). In turn these influences typically create negative attitudes towards menstruation, which affect a woman s body image leading to self objectification, and causing disconnection from their mother, themselves, and other women. Most discussion concerning menarcheare perpetuated negatively especially through the media, promoting its existence as a shameful event that requires hygienic management (Stubbs Costos, 2004). Through engagement of dialogues throughout religious texts and within familial members primarily the matriarch, girls and women are conditioned to believe they must control their menstruating bodies quietly and secretly. Menstruation can be described as a Jekyll and Hyde phenomenon (Stubbs, 2008), which causes a disconnection from self. Most women describe their menstruating selves as a completely different person from their normal selves. Topics explored within this paper will guide research for future exploratory or empirical studies. • 16. Assembling In The Iliad Ethan Medley English 2332 877 Professor Brooks 28 September 2017 Assembling in The Iliad (Holding councils of war or holding assemblies) Every great war in history has been determined, to some extent, by the powerful strategies executed by one party of the war. These strategies , most of the time, are not the brainchild of one individual, but more or less a group of people collaborating toward one strategy effective enough to turn the tides of battle. The most effective way for important leaders to voice their opinions for their next endeavor is achieved through the use of assemblies. Assemblies were very important to the armies in the Trojan War , as both sides had great power, meaning that cunning strategy would be the winning factor for one of the parties involved in the Trojan War. However, assemblies held during the Trojan War were more one sided toward the authoritative figures rather than a true collaboration between leaders and wise men. These assemblies follow a simple pattern: a leader calls out to the army to form an assembly when he sees it fit; then, the leaders and wise men then collaborate and voice their opinions on the matter at hand; and finally, the figure with the highest authority in the assembly decides what to do next as a result of the assembly. The assembly begins with an important leader calling for one when he sees it fit to form one. For example, an assembly was called by Achilles due to concerns from the plague in Book 1; it was revealed that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Vampire movies have really changed over the years, each having their own way of displaying vampires to their audiences. Anne Rice, the author of the book Queen of the Damned, shows vampires in a way that most wouldn t consider normal. Bringing the immortal into the music culture allows Rice s main character Lestat to feel on top of the world again. With a healthy balance of blood and death, this movie allows its audience to learn Lestat s history, while a dark soundtrack provides the scenery. All vampiremovies include one thing that sets the plot in motion; they must keep their existence a secret no matter what. Based on that one thing it can cause many different outcomes depending on the characters in the story. Queen of the Damned is what I like to call a real vampire movie. The soundtrack really sets up the movie during the death and the feeding scenes that are a must have in this certain kind of movie. It s not enough to simply have the present day information being set up, but having a good understanding on how the plot all came together can make or break this genre. A vampire s back story allows an emotional connection with the main character which is something that makes the movie even better. A number of environmental factors impact Barbie. Regarding the environmental factor of competition, Barbie has two major competitors dolls from Spin Master Ltd, perhaps the hottest toy maker in North America and dolls from Bratz (Zimmerman 1). As the doll market expands internationally, too, Mattel has not always been successful at matching or selling Barbie to local cultures. Many people from other non Western cultures want dolls that match their culture, and Barbie frequently does not fit them. I could not find any political factors that impact Barbie. 2. For this SWOT analysis of Barbie, I will identify at least one strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat. A significant strength of Barbie is the long history of the brand, which has been in the market for more than fifty years. Because of having that much time in the market, customers are already familiar with it. Children grow up with Barbie, so when they become adults, they will think of her when they think of dolls. Another strength is that the brand now has become more than the doll and include video games and books about her as a character. So that gives the company a broader market. For weakness, Barbie is part of and promotes a certain culture. So in cultures, either within or outside the United States, that hold different values (especially for women), she may not be as popular. For example, Barbie has been in the Saudi Arabian market for many years, but she is still not as popular as a doll that matches the local culture more, named Foulah, created by another company. For opportunities, Barbie is a worldwide brand. So there is an opportunity for the company to use that reputation to increase its market share. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effects of AIDS and the Media on the Gay Liberation Movement: The Constitution promises liberty for all, regardless of one s sexual orientation. Despite this, America also provided homosexuals with the power to fight their oppressors, thus the Gay Liberation Movement. As a result of pre existing discrimination and the stereotyping of homosexuals, the media and the public stigmatized AIDS, which temporarily halted the progress of the Gay Liberation Movement; however, after the devastating effects of the AIDS epidemic, the movement advanced as the media shifted the discussion of AIDS and allowed for homosexuals to fight for proper treatment, research, and rights. Due to a conformist society in which homosexuals felt oppressed by conservative views, homosexuals were discriminated against and ridiculed, causing interruptions in the movement and a difficulty advocating for their rights. • 41. Wealth Inequality Of The United States Wealth in the United States is generally thought to be distributed fairly as the highest earners have a higher percentage of wealth. Although this common notion is technically correct, the wealth is not spread as fairly as people might believe. The United States uses a free market, capitalistic economy, which entails wealthinequality. However, the amount of wealth inequality depends on how the government limits the wealthy. Interestingly enough, the government does not have regulations to distribute the wealth more fairly as the top 1% of earners in the United Statesown about 40% of the financial wealth in the country and the bottom 80% of earners own a measly 4.7%. Astonishingly, the financial wealth for the top 20% increased from 1983 to 2010 meaning the wealth became more concentrated at the higher socioeconomic tiers as time passed. These economic inequalities benefited the wealthy as they gained political powers, controlled a large portion of the economic market, and used capitalismto manipulate the public s perspective of the wealth distribution in the United States. While wealth inequality is a result of capitalism, extremely wealthy people use their wealth to exercise political power, but the average person does not understand that this is a corrupt method of crippling the economy in favor of the ultra wealthy. • 57. Macular Degeneration in Two Forms Essay Macular Degeneration in Two Forms Macular Degeneration is a disease of the eye that gradually causes loss of a person s central vision. Approximately 1.75 million Americans suffer from vision loss associated with the disease (All About Vision 1). The leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 60, Macular Degeneration, exists in two types (National Eye Institute 1). Both the wet and dry versions of the disease have similarities in risk factors, but differ in symptoms and treatments. The dry form is broken down into three stages; Early, Intermediate, and Advanced (National Eye Institute 3). In the Early stage, people have several small or few medium yellow deposits under the retina called drusen. This stage shows no symptoms or vision loss. During the second stage, Intermediate, more medium or even large deposits happen. As this happens, a blurred spot can develop and more light could be needed for reading. Lastly, in the Advanced stage, a breakdown of light sensitive cells and tissue causes the blurred spot to enlarge and darken. In this latter stage, facial recognition is unlikely unless the person is extremely close. Either form of Macular Degeneration can only be detected by thorough eye exams. The exam should include visual acuity, which measures sight at varied distance intervals. Also, dilation of the eyes will allow an ophthalmologist to check the retina and optic nerve. An instrument called a Tonometer will measure pressure within the eyes (National Eye Institute 6). Treatment options exist for the wet type; however, the dry has none. The wet version of Macular Degeneration can be treated with laser surgery, photodynamic therapy, and direct injections in order to try to slow the progression. Laser surgery is used to subdue the leaking blood vessels. During this procedure, healthy blood vessels and tissue may inadvertently be damaged. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
