Descriptive Essay On Maria Island
Anna Maria Island One evening in April, we headed to Bishop airport in flint,to fly to Tampa, Florida.
When we were at the airport I was so anxious. This was going to be my 5th time flying, so it wasn t
that new to me. Our plane arrived at the airport at 8:00 pm and we were boarding at 8:30 pm. The
plane ride took about 2 hours and 30 minutes. We finally arrived in Tampa, Florida. My grandma and
grandpa picked us up and we hit the road for about another hour. My aunt, uncle, and my two cousins
were meeting us at the house we rented on Anna Maria Island. We crossed a huge bridge that took us
to Anna Maria Island. We arrived at the house at midnight. The house had 4 rooms, 3 ½ baths, a big
swimming pool with a hot tub, and was right by the ocean. My aunt, uncle, and my two cousins were
unpacking all the food when we arrived. My sister and I went straight up to our room, there were two
twin sized beds, and a closet. We unloaded and went to bed at 1 in the morning. The next day
everyone woke up around the same time, my mom searched up the weather up, it was going to be a
hot one, we knew it was going to be a beach day. We packed snacks, put our bathing suits on, and
walked to the beach. Right away my cousins and I went to find shells, starfish, and sand dollars, I
found a lot of shells, sand dollars, and my goal was to find a starfish, and I did. My mom called us
over to eat our lunch, well we were eating our sandwiches on the beach, there were seagulls swooping

Paula Fox s The Slave Dancer
Paula Fox s the Slave Dancer has two major settings. The book starts in the Vieux Carre, a section of
New Orleans. The Vieux Carre is a damp, foggy town riddled with small streets and dark alleyways.
The story then quickly changes settings to a rundown slave ship called The Moonlight.
The books main character is a thirteen year old boy named Jessie Boiler. Jessie is described as a little
heavier than the majority of boys his age. He has dark hair and also a sailor aboard The Moonlight
often jokes with Jessie about how his feet are too big for the rest of his body. Jessie lives with his
mother and his sister Betty. They barely are able to survive with the little money Jessie s mom makes
designing dresses for the wealthy women. To help his family out financially, Jessie plays his fife for
the sailors down by the docks. What little money he makes he makes only pennies. HE makes pennies
for play songs for the slaves so they can dance . He gives to his mother and Betty. Jessie is a very
strong boy He doesn t like certain things. Once when called to play his fife for the first mate of The
Moonlight Jessie refused. He was tired of playing his music for the men who ... Show more content on

Nigeria, The Niger Delta and the Nigerian Government
Nigeria might be rich in resources; its population lives in poverty. With a Multidimensional Poverty
Index (MPI) of .31, it was ranked number 157 out of the 186 United Nations (UN) member states in
2012. Also, according to the World Bank, the poverty headcount ratio was 68%, meaning this part of
the population lived with less than $1.25 a day in 2010.
The Niger Delta is one of the nine states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It counts about 20 million
people and around 70 000 km² of land. The region is one of the most prominent wetlands in the world.
Oil has produced about $600 billion since the 1960 s.
Despite its wealth in resources, the majority of the people live under poor conditions. To counter this
poverty, the Nigerian government has set up several commissions in the past. The most prominent are
the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC) and the Niger Delta
Development Commission (NDDC).
The OMPADEC was established in 1993 and focused on the development of the Niger Delta Region
(NDR). It however failed due to factors as corruption, mismanagement and non sufficient funding.
Hereafter, the NDDC was to replace the OMPADEC. It would create socio economic development in
the NDR. The NDDC set up various projects in the region. However, due to the poor structure of the
organisation and inadequate funding the NDDC have

Nt1310 Project Plan 3
This report discusses Team 2 s design for a water filtration device and turbidity sensor, to provide safe,
clean drinking water to the rural community of Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. The community is heavily
dependent on the weather to collect rain water however, between May and October, the dry period
restricts their water supply, leading to sickness and death through the drinking of unclean water.
Team 2 has considered a variety of factors including *cultural and technological appropriateness,
geography, local economics, material availability and safety. Six draft designs were generated, each
adhering to the brief and a potential for a successful water filtration device. The designs were judged
and eliminated on certain criteria; for example, Plan 3 consisted of a device which could be flipped,
the caught debris acting as another filtration layer. Although Plan 3 was cost effective and time ...

If water amount collected increases or decreases, the catchment bottles can be changed and altered for
size. As there is a range for the grain size of materials, there is some room of altering if the materials
are for any reason, unavailable. The flexibility of the design allows for adaptation if required. The
materials chosen are easily accessible, safe and hygienic once filter is cleaned. The small, yet efficient
size of the design allows for portability, and can be used indoors in the case of a cyclone or unsuitable
weather conditions. The device is designed with the local culture and geography in mind; primarily
consisting of recyclable plastic bottles and grains from Vanuatu. As chemicals are excluded in the
design, the materials are familiar appropriate, simple to use and will encourage the community to filter
their water. The construction and maintenance can be easily taught to and performed by locals, both
men and women. This design is flexible and can cater for different situations including material

Linear Technology
Linear Technology is a technology company that focuses on the different elements of semiconductors.
The company mostly focuses on analog products within the semiconductor portion of the electronic
industry. Linear Technology was unique in their payout policy in the sense that they started with
announcing dividends and then continued onto repurchasing. Linear started dividends to gain the
respect of investors as well as show that buying shares in the company of Linear was less risky than
all the other technology companies. Additionally, they repurchase stocks to offset the employee stock
options that the company had as a large component of the employee compensation, which helped

Earnings and earnings per share are not affected by the dividend payout.
Another option Linear Technology has to exercise its excess cash balance, they can repurchase shares
to increase the value of the firm. This repurchase option is beneficial to the company and shareholders
because in an open market share repurchase has no effect on the stock price. In addition, by
repurchasing shares the firm s earnings and earnings per share will increase. As shown in Exhibit B,
by calculating the total numbers of shares repurchased (total cash balance/price per share) and
subtracting it from the number of shares outstanding will give us the number of shares left outstanding
after the repurchase to be 261,703,052. Exhibit B shows how this decrease in the number of shares
drove up the earnings per share value by $0.10 from $0.55 to $0.65. When the company repurchases
shares instead of paying out in special dividends, the firm s value will increase and it also allows the
firm to retain its cash reserves within the company.
In general, companies pay dividends for a number of reasons. Dividends provide certainty about the
company s financial well being. Many investors prefer the steady and secure income that comes with
dividends and see dividends as strength in the company and a sign of future positive earnings.
Dividend initiators tend to be large and stable firms with low growth rates

Games Baseball Was Based On Rounders is the main game that baseball was based on. It is a game
from Ireland where the offence team tries to score runs by swinging a club (Either wood, plastic,
metal, etc.) at a leather coated ball of cork (a baseball), while the defensive team tries to field the ball
and get the runner out. The game of Rounders is much less safe than baseball as there are no mitts,
pads, or even helmets. Rounders is still a very popular sport all over Europe. It was invented by the
famous author John Newberry in the late

Youth Apathy And Apathy
A common sentiment among the older generations is that the youth of today have stopped caring. The
youth of today are almost always disengaged with politics and world issues (K.), and it seems that
apathy has taken hold of the new generation. However, youth apathy should not be blamed on the
youth themselves, as this apathy comes from a culmination of pressures and circumstances beyond
their control. This is due to popular shows promoting the message of apathy, the biology of young
adults and teenagers, and the oversaturation of world issues in the media. Instead of pushing blame on
youth for their apathetic leanings, it is time to examine the core of why youth begin to feel this way.
The average youth spends 9 hours per day consuming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, in some teenagers it may be more than hormones. A study by Oxford University found that
[it may be] more of an effort for apathetic people to turn decisions into actions ( Brain ). As such,
some adolescents may be biologically predisposed to apathy, as it takes them more time to make
decisions than their more engaged counterparts. To summarise, the problem of apathy among youth
comes from the youth s biology. The prevalence of negative news within the media has also become
detrimental to the engagement of youth. The exposure to negative media within the news can cause
teenagers to experience a large amount of emotional distress, sometimes leading to the development of
post traumatic stress disorder (Pollard). As such, adolescents bombarded by negative news may
become too overwhelmed by the news that they view, thus causing them to prefer escapism to
activism. A survey from Times Mirror shows that while more people think the news is too full of
violence, fewer people today than in the 1980 s believe that the news exaggerates the amount of
violence in America (Clark). Thusly, as people believe that the news, though full of violence, does not
exaggerate this violence, adolescents surrounded by this news may begin to feel overwhelmed by the
negativity, and will stop caring. Overall, the perceived prevalence of negative

Class In America By Gregory Mantsios Critical Analysis
In the first article titled Class in America by Gregory Mantsios the discussion on class affecting the
United States negatively is brought up. Gregory talks about the fact that people do not choose to be
poor but they are put into situations where they cannot move up in class. Due to the fact that class
creates an immense gap in communities, there are many issues linked to being categorized as the
lower class. In the article Gregory states that class affects more than lifestyle and material well being.
It has a significant impact on our physical and mental well being as well. CITE) The author connects
the idea that if you are in the lower class than you will also deal with other issues include your mental
and physical health declining. Alongside this idea, the author also states All Americans do not have an
equal opportunity to succeed, and class mobility in the United States is lower than that of the rest of
the industrialized world. (CITE) This goes along with the idea that once your born into a class,
breaking out of it is virtually impossible. The author is also making the point that in the United States
class is more problematic than other developed nations and because of this not everyone is given the
chance to break free from a poor lifestyle. In the second reading title Framing Class by Diana Kendall
the idea of class is described as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Diana focuses on the idea
that the media shapes the way we view class. The media

English II Part II
Assignment 2.6
September 5, 2017
Abraham Lincoln and, Julius Caesar were both politicians, and they are both similar in their way
although they both come from different walks, of life they both share similarities. Abraham Lincoln
served as the 16th president of, the United States he was born in Hodgenville, KY in 1809 and, he was
assassinated in April of 1865 Abraham Lincoln stood for rights of all people although these two men
are quite different they stood for leadership and justice and equality. Julius Caesar was born on July 13

rulers of their country they both had made a significant impact people admired them, they were
acknowledged as heroes of their countries. And shortly after they were both assassinated Abraham
Lincoln, and Julius Caesar left a legacy in which would carry on forever.
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America he was frequently referred to
as the The great emancipator and yet although he didn t publicly call for the emancipation of the entire
life. Lincoln established his public career by declaring that he was anti slavery against slavery s

slavery eventually announced the emancipation proclamation in which freed all slaves in states that
were in rebellion.

Human Migration Is A Major Function Of Rabs As Tumor Cell...
More than 60 Rab GTPases have been found, and they each have a particular function in vesicular
transport in a cell (Hutagalung and Novick, 2011). For example, Rab 27a and Rab27b are of particular
interest in melanoma due to their function of melanosome transport. (Figure 5) Rab27a has been
identified as a tumour dependency gene in melanoma (Akavia et al., 2010).
1.4.2 Roles of Rab proteins in cancer
Depending on the tumour cell type, there will be differing expression of Rabs. For example, Rab31
overexpression is linked to a poorer outcome in breast cancer (Kotzsch, et al. 2008) and Rab2 is linked
to progression in lung cancer (Culine et al., 1994). However, other Rabs are seen to be down
regulated, such as Rab38 in melanoma compared to normal melanocytes, thus have a key role
(Mueller, Rehli, Bosserhoff, 2009).
Promoting migration is a major function of Rabs as tumour cells need to be able to invade ECM and
migrate to other sites. Rabs, especially Rab25, have roles in trafficking and recycling integrins, which
are cell adhesion molecules providing linkage of cells to the ECM (Arnaout, Goodman and Xiong,
2007), to invasion structures to facilitate migration (Recchi, and Seabra, 2012).
ECM degradation and remodeling is essential to tumour cell invasion and migration. Rabs have a
major role in secretion and activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) at the tip of invasion
structures such as invadopodia. Rabs regulate a the secretion of a variety of MMPs. Rab7 and Rab8

Abraham Maslow Hierarchy Of Hierarchy
Abraham Maslow, who was a humanistic psychologist, argued that needs are arranged in a ladder like
steps. He proposed a rising order of needs from the level of physiological to self transcendence. The
order of needs starts from basic survival or lower order needs to higher order needs. As one level of
need is satisfied another higher order need will emerge and assume importance in life. The hierarchy
is shown in Fig. Physiological needs: The most potent and lowest level of all the needs are
physiological needs. Thus the needs of hunger, thirst, sex, temperature regulation and rest occupy the
lowest step in the ladder. According to Maslow, when these physiological needs are deprived for a
long period, all other needs fail to appear We must eat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Safety needs are mainly concerned with maintaining order and security, to feel secure, safe and out of
danger. Love and Belongingness needs: These are the needs of making intimate relationship with other
members of the society. People want to become an accepted member of an organised group, need a
familiar environment such as family. These needs are dependent on the fulfilment and satisfaction of
physiological and safety needs. The Esteem needs: Esteem needs are divided into the following two
categories: (a) Needs related to respect from others like reputation, status, social success and fame.
The need of self evaluation occurs in those persons who are comfortably situated and satisfied with
the fulfilment of lower order needs. For example, a competent professional who has established a high
reputation and does not have to worry about getting a job, may become quite choosy about what type
of work he/she would accept. (b) Self esteem, self respect and self regard. The other type of esteem
needs include need to achieve, to be competent, to gain approval and to get recognition. The need to
feel superior to others also falls under this category. For fulfilling this, a person may buy good quality

Pharmacy Vs Jackrabbit Pharmacy
What better way to learn about the pharmacy profession than from two SDSU alumni in the university
s own pharmacy? I had the opportunity to learn from Melanie Lunn and Tasha Rausch in the unique
environment that the Jackrabbit Pharmacy brings. I was able to compare and contrast this pharmacy
with the retail pharmacy I work in. The Jackrabbit Pharmacy has a unique patient population and
location which leads to many of these differences. Located on a college campus with a majority of the
patients being young adults, maintaining confidentiality can be an issue. One issue that Melanie
commonly faces is concerned parents calling regarding their child s prescription. Since the passing of
HIPAA, eighteen year olds have the right to keep their health information from their parents. As a
pharmacist, one should be mindful of the information that is discussed with parents of college aged
students. This can be difficult because parents do not always want to abide by this law. While
shadowing at the pharmacy, I saw another potential issue with patient confidentiality. If the pharmacy
were to hire a student intern or clerk, that student could learn about the medical conditions and
medications that his or her friends have. It would be very easy to breach HIPAA and, therefore, a
liability. Luckily, I don t think the pharmacy is planning to do this.
In the Jackrabbit Pharmacy, the pharmacists have developed the pharmacy workplace so that it is easy
to respect patient confidentiality. For

For My Second Practicum, I Wrote Two Lesson Plans Because
For my second practicum, I wrote two lesson plans because I wanted to allow my student to choose
what book he wanted to read. I planned a shared reading lesson over The Story of Henny Penny by
Richard Carson and an interactive reading lesson over I Think I Forgot by Mercer Mayer.
Planning for two different books was not difficult, but I had to keep in mind that my student was only
going to have the opportunity to read one of the books, and in the end, my student chose to read The
Story of Henny Penny. For this shared reading lesson, I followed the steps for a shared reading by Gail
E. Tompkins (2014). I had to adjust and adapt the steps slightly because I only see my student once a
week for forty minutes which means I don t have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reread the story. 5. Continue the process. 6. Students read independently.
If I had more time or saw my student more frequently, I would make sure to include these steps during
a shared reading lesson.
After I planned the shared reading portion of the lesson, I planned a short writing activity where my
student would have the opportunity to write down the three main events from the story.
The teaching part of this lesson went in a totally different direction than I had planned. After the
picture walk, my student showed a deep interest in trying to read the book out loud on his own, and I
made the decision to let my student give the book a try. Since this book was a level above what my
student s level, I figured that after a page or so he would want me to take over the reading. That is not
what happened though.
My student read the entire book on his own with minimal error! This slight change in my lesson plan
meant that I was no longer teaching a shared reading lesson, but rather a guided reading lesson. After
my student finished reading, we proceeded with the lesson I had planned. We discussed the story, what
happened, what plot was, and then the plot of this story. Then he used the story cards to retell the
story. I labeled clothes pins with numbers one through six and had them on a piece of yarn to
symbolize that the events on the card happened in order to form a whole story. After that we moved on

Compare And Contrast Shinto And Hinduism
Hinduism and Shinto
The two religion I choose to talk about are from India and Japan. These two religions have no founder,
they were transpired from within the native land and religions that surround them. Hinduism and
Shinto were built from other religious sections coming together and from challenges that leaders had
placed on their people trying to define their culture.
Hinduism faced the challenges of Jainism and Buddhism which originated from India. Hinduism
absorbed these two religions and adopted their identities into Hindu thinking. The Sanskrit name for
the river Indus is Sindhu this is how Hindu originated. Muslim conquerors first used it to describe

have been put into use to save kingdoms. One such example of ruling the kingdom is in that of Syria.
The Asad family is running the kingdom since decades, four decades indeed. The king runs a rule of
law, modified by him for him, and his powerful allies. Now that the Syrians have had much of the

The Syrians planned a peaceful protest against the king, and wanted the king to step down of the
power. The protest lasted. The Syrian thought the protest would make the king to step down from the

infrastructure, things went wrong. In the deepest desire to run the kingdom, and unlike other
democratic Arab governments, the Bashar al Asad administration took to violence to calm down the
protestors. Hence started a civil war in the country that led to killing of millions Syrian. This protest
that is still in its full bloom, left tens of thousands dead, millions left their home, and took their

eighty thousand people died, and millions homeless in the twenty four months.
The higher flames from that of the war in Syria need to be stopped. The head of the opposition party,

United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) was further mentioned in criticism for the
facilities built by the Australian government on Manus and Nauru Island to house asylum seekers.
Taylor describes them as a deeply flawed organisation that does a very difficult job...an organisation
that is definitely beholden to domestic politics . She hopes these personal stories the film tells will

The Day Of A Bus
It was September 20th of 2011 when I stepped aboard a bus heading to Recruit Training Command in
Great Lakes, Illinois. It was rather dark in the bus as I sat there next to other young men looking just
as nervous and scared as I was since none of us knew what our ordeal would be for the upcoming 2
months. I was thinking to myself man what the hell am I even doing here? and then without me even
paying attention to where we were outside; the bus came to a halt. As soon as the bus stopped this man
came aboard and said to all us get the fuck out the bus right now! and all of us got up as quickly as
humanly possible and started exciting the bus double time. As we were heading into the building at a
rather spry pace, the man kept screaming and swearing at us making us even more nervous for none of
us had a clue on what would really be happening in the upcoming months. Line up against the wall
recruits is what a man started screaming over and over again as he walked out of this room at the
corner of the hall. This man kept screaming and yelling things at us, but I barely got word of what he
was actually saying since I was in another world. What is going on? and am I going to get to talk to
my parents at all? were all common thoughts that kept going through my head as this was all
happening. However I was soon brought back into the world of reality when he started saying things
that I actually cared about. Alright recruits you ll have 10 minutes to call you folks to tell

This paper is a critical analysis of two contrasting research articles which have come from human
services related journals. The research articles have been selected as they adopt contrasting approaches
to research qualitative and quantitative. The objective of this analysis is to highlight and interpret the
interrelated paradigms that all forms of research are underpinned by. Theoretical underpinnings of
research play a crucial role throughout all research paradigms which consequently guide and
determine the direction research will take. It is important to understand that this paper is not a
comparison of the two research articles therefore, the articles have been analysed separately to achieve
a clearer point of view. The first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The findings of this study indicated that professionals working with Aboriginal children and
adolescents need to be conscious of the importance of family and identity. Furthermore, it is critical
that improvements are made to accessibility of mental health services for Aboriginal children,
adolescents and their families as well as a more holistic approach being taken towards addressing
mental health needs. The second research article was selected from The Early Childhood Education
Journal and is titled A Quantitative Study of Head Start Children s Strengths, Families Perspectives,
and Teachers Ratings in the Transition to Kindergarten (Robinson Diamond, 2013). This study
explored the connection between preschool children s social interpersonal skills and their transition to
kindergarten in mid western America. One hundred and thirty three preschool children participated in
this study over a two year period using three measures of testing. In the year leading up to
commencing kindergarten the children s social interpersonal skills were evaluated by their teachers. In
the following year, parents/guardians and teachers were then required to report on the children s
adjustment to kindergarten. The results of this study found that there was no connection between
parents/guardians and teachers reports of

The Psychological Disorder Of Depression
The human brain is one of the most important organs in your body. A lot of research has been done on
it and there are many things that still remain a mystery. The mind gives us the capability to think and
act; without it we would not be able to function. The mind is so advanced that it can rewire itself and
adapt to new situations. This paper will explore and discuss the film Girl Interrupted (1996) by
exploring the psychological disorder of depression. Depression is a mood disorder that causes a
persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest (mayoclinic.org). When discussing depression, Patty
from Girl Interrupted will be mentioned, the way society deals with depression will be discussed, and
treatments for the psychological disorder will also be given. Depression is very common among the
population and it does not discriminate against gender or ethnicity. There are many theories to why
depression arises: faulty mood regulation by the brain, genetic vulnerability, stressful life events,
medications, and medical problems health.Harvard.edu). Chemicals in the brain are also responsible
for causing depression. One can have too much of one chemical and not enough of the other which
causes an unbalance in the brain. Depression is one of the most common illness worldwide, Globally,
more than 350 million people of all ages suffer from depression (Who.int), but women are more prone
to be impacted by this psychological disorder. Polly was a character in Girl Interrupted

Calorimetry Lab Report Summary
Summary Questions:
1. What value(s) of ΔHrxn did you determine? Compare to the literature value. The first trial that
contained 10 mL of NaOH and 10 mL of CH3COOH produced a ΔHrxn of 13.11 kJ/m. The second
trial, which contained 15 mL of NaOH and 5 mL of CH3COOH resulted in a ΔHrxn of 7.864 kJ/m.
Based on the literature value of NaOH CH3COOH, 57.5 kJ/m, we were off by 44.39 kJ/m in the first
trial, and 49.64 kJ/m in the second trial.
2. How did concentration and/or volume differences affect the heat change (q) for each trial? When
the volumes of NaOH and CH3COOH were equal, the temperature increased by 5 degrees celsius.
When we performed a second trial and added 15 mL of NaOH and 5 mL of CH3COOH, the
temperature only showed an increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were also able to conclude that when you combine equal parts of an acid and base you can expect
to see a higher temperature change than you would if you added more parts of a base than a acid. Our
reasoning behind this conclusion is that when we added 10 mL of both solutions that temperature
increased by 5ºc, but when we added 15 mL of NaOH and only 5 mL of CH3COOH there was only a
temperature increase of 3ºc. In correlation, we calculated that when you have equal parts of acid and
base, the ΔHrxn will be higher than when you use more parts base than

Summary Of The Devil In The White City By Erik Larson
The Devil in the White City, a history by Erik Larson, tells the story of two men in late nineteenth
century Chicago. Daniel Burnham: a famous architect known for his towering skyscrapers, and Dr. H.
H. Holmes: a criminal known for insurance fraud, and eventually, murder. Holmes (one of many
aliases, his real name being Dr. Herman W. Mudgett) decided to build a large hotel that he referred to
as a castle to lure young women to their deaths while visiting the World s Columbian Exposition, a
fair Burnham designed. It s obvious that the author, Larson, knows this topic incredibly well and spent
a lot of time researching. He includes so many specific details and facts about the fair and Holmes
crimes that you feel as though he must have experienced it all himself, and it creates a sense of
realism. The novel reads as though it s intended for just about anyone interested. While Larson writes
with an often sophisticated style, you don t have to be an expert on anything to understand and enjoy
the story. He engages the audience by making this sound more like a story, and less like historical
nonfiction. He uses simple explanations of concepts that are specific to the time period in the book,

hometowns, show how unbiased Larson is in describing the different events. Another quote, If only

What Is The Creation Of The Odyssey
The Odyssey
The Odyssey retains information pertaining to the identity of the author, genre, original language, and
intended audience, but it is shrouded in speculation when it comes to the provenance of the text and
bibliographic information of the author. It is certain that the author is Homer, and the genre of his
creation is classified as an epic poem which is a long story about hero who is most likely involved in a
great war. Along with that information, it is known that the original language is Greek, and the simple
and direct nature of the text reveals that The Odyssey was intended for the common Greek people. The
information that is up for debate pertains to the origin of the author and the text. Herodotud thought
that Homer lived 400 years before him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people believed that he came from Chios, and others thought he was from Smyrna. The one
thing that people could agree on was that Homer was blind. Additionally, the origin of the text itself is
speculated. It originated somewhere in Western Europe, and it was eventually printed in Florence Italy
in 1488. It was probably composed in the late eight or early seventh century BCE, but an exact date
and place is unknown. Even though the origin is unknown, the creation of The Odyssey allowed the
epic tale of a hero finding his way home to an island of Ithica be preserved across time. During the
general period of time when The Odyssey was composed, Western Europe was going through the
Dark Ages which affected the way the story was created and preserved. Prosperity of this area was
destroyed in a period of violent conflict in 1200 BCE which

The Market
Introduction. The problems in this chapter examine some variations on the apartment market described
in the text. In most of the problems we work with the true demand curve constructed from the
reservation prices of the consumers rather than the smoothed demand curve that we used in the text.
Remember that the reservation price of a consumer is that price where he is just indifferent between
renting or not renting the apartment. At any price below the reservation price the consumer will
demand one apartment, at any price above the reservation price the consumer will demand zero
apartments, and exactly at the reservation price the consumer will be indifferent between having zero
or one apartment. You should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Descriptive and Inferential Statistics
When faced with an analysis of a situation which deals with a population, an analyzer will incorporate
both descriptive and inferential statistics to evaluate his or her results and create a credible conclusion.
Descriptive statistics provides information focused on an immediate group of data. After defining
what needs to be analyzed, the descriptive statistics will help the analyzer abridge the data to a more
meaningful and comprehendible form, which will then provide patterns in his or her research that, will
provide a foundation to his or her thesis. For example, a person could use descriptive statistics to
evaluate the answers on an exam taken by 400 American students, and use descriptive statistics to
determine the overall performance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefor by the analyzer using the methods of descriptive and inferential statistics, he or she will be
able to draw constitutional conclusions that will prove to be somewhat accurate and will give the
analyzer a general view of the progress and level in which the 400 American and 400 European
students are on, which group of students are progressing on a more higher level than others, and what
areas students need improvement or more help in.

Morpheus sought Neo s help after it was prophesied that Neo is quot;the one quot;, a man who will
free the human race from the clutches of the matrix. Upon contacting him, Morpheus tells him that he
is right to question his feelings; he offers him a red pill (to discover the truth), or a blue pill (to
continue life as normal). After choosing the red pill, Neo is plugged into what Morpheus has referred
to as quot; The Matrix quot;, a computer generated reality. Neo now experiences the horror of his
actual existence. Mankind has destroyed the earth environmentally 200 years ago, and is being
maintained in individual quot;bubbles quot; by octopus like robots, living a virtual reality of life in
1999.
Morpheus, along with his group of human rebels including Neo s love interest Trinity (Carrie Anne
Moss), train Neo in a variety of fighting styles in order to go up against a group of computer program
based agents who control the matrix in human form. Fights in The Matrix also makes the slowing
down of the action sequences seem very natural. At more than one point I was reminded of quot; The
Force quot; in Star Wars. The Matrix is also a power that can be manipulated to the hero s advantage.
Anderson undergoes Skywalker like training, and these adrenaline pumping, gravity defying scenes
provide great bits of martial arts action, daring stunts, and amazing roof to roof leaps. Morpheus is our

The Political Policies Of America
One of the most unethical interest groups is actively trying to increase inequality in America today.
Americans for Prosperity is an organization that promotes unethical conservative views in America s
politics. Americans for Prosperity is a relatively new foundation that emerged from the split of
Citizens for a Sound Economy Foundation. Americans for Prosperity is one of the many political
groups that the Koch brothers and Koch Industries created to get their way in American legislation. In
America politics there are interest groups that will fund politicians political campaigns or lobby the
politicians to persuade them to change their minds on certain subjects. With that being said, the
difference between Americans for Prosperity and other American interests groups is Americans for
Prosperity does not have to show who funds Americans for prosperity, how much money or where the
money will go. American politics today have become so dreadfully corrupt that most Americans don t
trust their own government. The trust in the American government is at an all time low with a meek
nineteen percent congressional approval rating (Trust). Whether the system is broken or the people in
leadership positions are immoral and crooked there must be change in American Politics. Therefore,
Americans for Prosperity s history is brief however they are lawful but an unethical interest groups,
and there needs to be ethics in American politics. In the beginning, Americans for Prosperity was a

The Pros And Cons Of An Atheist
An Atheist in America is possibly one of the most misunderstood individuals in the country today. A
vast amount of religious people in America have a warped notion and don t quite grasp the concept
behind someone who does not believe in a deity. Most Americans have never even questioned the
existence of God and just don t see how someone cannot believe in it. The media paints atheists as
untrustworthy, unmoral, scary, insane, aggressively hating God, doing the Devil s work, and the list
just goes on. Unlike many other countries that aren t based around faith, there is a corrupted viewpoint
on what is to be expected from someone who lacks the belief. This often leads to very damaging
misconceptions about what an atheist actually is. An atheist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most go through depression, anger, anxiety, and are even afraid of their own thinking at times. It s not
an instant thought process that just one day they decided to stop believing in a God. All their lives they
have been told that this was the way of life and now this idea is just not the case anymore. What they
were once taught growing up is now the equivalent to the untrue fairy tales they were read to as
children. Their whole world turned upside down like a car crash when the questions can no longer be
fulfilled by the answers given. They are faced with a completely different reality that is not
comfortable to live with. Atheists in America have a valid concern when they aren t being taken
seriously and are instead being pushed off that their ideas are just a phase. Most are not able to express
their thoughts out of fear of being exiled from the family and kicked out of the home. It s not an
unheard of concern in America like other social issues that experience the same behavior, for family to
disown relatives. Sometimes there is even violence amongst the arguing. Some atheists tend to keep
quiet about their beliefs in rationalization of losing friends, family, being discriminated against in
public and the workplace, and to keep peace of mind. It s walking on egg shells and trying to avoid

This was going to be my 5th time flying, so it wasn t that new to me. Our plane arrived at the airport at 8:00 pm and we were boarding at 8:30 pm. The plane ride took about 2 hours and 30 minutes. We finally arrived in Tampa, Florida. My grandma and grandpa picked us up and we hit the road for about another hour. My aunt, uncle, and my two cousins were meeting us at the house we rented on Anna Maria Island. We crossed a huge bridge that took us to Anna Maria Island. My sister and I went straight up to our room, there were two twin sized beds, and a closet. We unloaded and went to bed at 1 in the morning. The next day everyone woke up around the same time, my mom searched up the weather up, it was going to be a hot one, we knew it was going to be a beach day. We packed snacks, put our bathing suits on, and walked to the beach. Right away my cousins and I went to find shells, starfish, and sand dollars, I found a lot of shells, sand dollars, and my goal was to find a starfish, and I did. My mom called us over to eat our lunch, well we were eating our sandwiches on the beach, there were seagulls swooping down to get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Nt1310 Project Plan 3 This report discusses Team 2 s design for a water filtration device and turbidity sensor, to provide safe, clean drinking water to the rural community of Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. The community is heavily dependent on the weather to collect rain water however, between May and October, the dry period restricts their water supply, leading to sickness and death through the drinking of unclean water. Team 2 has considered a variety of factors including *cultural and technological appropriateness, geography, local economics, material availability and safety. Six draft designs were generated, each adhering to the brief and a potential for a successful water filtration device. The designs were judged and eliminated on certain criteria; for example, Plan 3 consisted of a device which could be flipped, the caught debris acting as another filtration layer. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Earnings and earnings per share are not affected by the dividend payout. Another option Linear Technology has to exercise its excess cash balance, they can repurchase shares to increase the value of the firm. This repurchase option is beneficial to the company and shareholders because in an open market share repurchase has no effect on the stock price. In addition, by repurchasing shares the firm s earnings and earnings per share will increase. As shown in Exhibit B, by calculating the total numbers of shares repurchased (total cash balance/price per share) and subtracting it from the number of shares outstanding will give us the number of shares left outstanding after the repurchase to be 261,703,052. Exhibit B shows how this decrease in the number of shares drove up the earnings per share value by $0.10 from $0.55 to $0.65. When the company repurchases shares instead of paying out in special dividends, the firm s value will increase and it also allows the firm to retain its cash reserves within the company. In general, companies pay dividends for a number of reasons. Dividends provide certainty about the company s financial well being. Many investors prefer the steady and secure income that comes with dividends and see dividends as strength in the company and a sign of future positive earnings. • 10. Youth Apathy And Apathy A common sentiment among the older generations is that the youth of today have stopped caring. The youth of today are almost always disengaged with politics and world issues (K.), and it seems that apathy has taken hold of the new generation. However, youth apathy should not be blamed on the youth themselves, as this apathy comes from a culmination of pressures and circumstances beyond their control. This is due to popular shows promoting the message of apathy, the biology of young adults and teenagers, and the oversaturation of world issues in the media. Instead of pushing blame on youth for their apathetic leanings, it is time to examine the core of why youth begin to feel this way. The average youth spends 9 hours per day consuming ... A study by Oxford University found that [it may be] more of an effort for apathetic people to turn decisions into actions ( Brain ). As such, some adolescents may be biologically predisposed to apathy, as it takes them more time to make decisions than their more engaged counterparts. To summarise, the problem of apathy among youth comes from the youth s biology. The prevalence of negative news within the media has also become detrimental to the engagement of youth. The exposure to negative media within the news can cause teenagers to experience a large amount of emotional distress, sometimes leading to the development of post traumatic stress disorder (Pollard). As such, adolescents bombarded by negative news may become too overwhelmed by the news that they view, thus causing them to prefer escapism to activism. A survey from Times Mirror shows that while more people think the news is too full of violence, fewer people today than in the 1980 s believe that the news exaggerates the amount of violence in America (Clark). Thusly, as people believe that the news, though full of violence, does not exaggerate this violence, adolescents surrounded by this news may begin to feel overwhelmed by the negativity, and will stop caring. • 11. Class In America By Gregory Mantsios Critical Analysis In the first article titled Class in America by Gregory Mantsios the discussion on class affecting the United States negatively is brought up. Gregory talks about the fact that people do not choose to be poor but they are put into situations where they cannot move up in class. Due to the fact that class creates an immense gap in communities, there are many issues linked to being categorized as the lower class. In the article Gregory states that class affects more than lifestyle and material well being. It has a significant impact on our physical and mental well being as well. CITE) The author connects the idea that if you are in the lower class than you will also deal with other issues include your mental and physical health declining. Alongside this idea, the author also states All Americans do not have an equal opportunity to succeed, and class mobility in the United States is lower than that of the rest of the industrialized world. (CITE) This goes along with the idea that once your born into a class, breaking out of it is virtually impossible. The author is also making the point that in the United States class is more problematic than other developed nations and because of this not everyone is given the chance to break free from a poor lifestyle. In the second reading title Framing Class by Diana Kendall the idea of class is described as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. • 13. Human Migration Is A Major Function Of Rabs As Tumor Cell... More than 60 Rab GTPases have been found, and they each have a particular function in vesicular transport in a cell (Hutagalung and Novick, 2011). For example, Rab 27a and Rab27b are of particular interest in melanoma due to their function of melanosome transport. (Figure 5) Rab27a has been identified as a tumour dependency gene in melanoma (Akavia et al., 2010). 1.4.2 Roles of Rab proteins in cancer Depending on the tumour cell type, there will be differing expression of Rabs. For example, Rab31 overexpression is linked to a poorer outcome in breast cancer (Kotzsch, et al. 2008) and Rab2 is linked to progression in lung cancer (Culine et al., 1994). However, other Rabs are seen to be down regulated, such as Rab38 in melanoma compared to normal melanocytes, thus have a key role (Mueller, Rehli, Bosserhoff, 2009). Promoting migration is a major function of Rabs as tumour cells need to be able to invade ECM and migrate to other sites. Rabs, especially Rab25, have roles in trafficking and recycling integrins, which are cell adhesion molecules providing linkage of cells to the ECM (Arnaout, Goodman and Xiong, 2007), to invasion structures to facilitate migration (Recchi, and Seabra, 2012). ECM degradation and remodeling is essential to tumour cell invasion and migration. Rabs have a major role in secretion and activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) at the tip of invasion structures such as invadopodia. Rabs regulate a the secretion of a variety of MMPs. • 14. Abraham Maslow Hierarchy Of Hierarchy Abraham Maslow, who was a humanistic psychologist, argued that needs are arranged in a ladder like steps. He proposed a rising order of needs from the level of physiological to self transcendence. The order of needs starts from basic survival or lower order needs to higher order needs. As one level of need is satisfied another higher order need will emerge and assume importance in life. The hierarchy is shown in Fig. Physiological needs: The most potent and lowest level of all the needs are physiological needs. • 15. Pharmacy Vs Jackrabbit Pharmacy What better way to learn about the pharmacy profession than from two SDSU alumni in the university s own pharmacy? I had the opportunity to learn from Melanie Lunn and Tasha Rausch in the unique environment that the Jackrabbit Pharmacy brings. I was able to compare and contrast this pharmacy with the retail pharmacy I work in. The Jackrabbit Pharmacy has a unique patient population and location which leads to many of these differences. Located on a college campus with a majority of the patients being young adults, maintaining confidentiality can be an issue. One issue that Melanie commonly faces is concerned parents calling regarding their child s prescription. Since the passing of HIPAA, eighteen year olds have the right to keep their health information from their parents. As a pharmacist, one should be mindful of the information that is discussed with parents of college aged students. This can be difficult because parents do not always want to abide by this law. While shadowing at the pharmacy, I saw another potential issue with patient confidentiality. If the pharmacy were to hire a student intern or clerk, that student could learn about the medical conditions and medications that his or her friends have. It would be very easy to breach HIPAA and, therefore, a liability. Luckily, I don t think the pharmacy is planning to do this. In the Jackrabbit Pharmacy, the pharmacists have developed the pharmacy workplace so that it is easy to respect patient confidentiality. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After I planned the shared reading portion of the lesson, I planned a short writing activity where my student would have the opportunity to write down the three main events from the story. The teaching part of this lesson went in a totally different direction than I had planned. After the picture walk, my student showed a deep interest in trying to read the book out loud on his own, and I made the decision to let my student give the book a try. Since this book was a level above what my student s level, I figured that after a page or so he would want me to take over the reading. That is not what happened though. My student read the entire book on his own with minimal error! This slight change in my lesson plan meant that I was no longer teaching a shared reading lesson, but rather a guided reading lesson. After my student finished reading, we proceeded with the lesson I had planned. We discussed the story, what happened, what plot was, and then the plot of this story. The mind is so advanced that it can rewire itself and adapt to new situations. This paper will explore and discuss the film Girl Interrupted (1996) by exploring the psychological disorder of depression. There are many theories to why depression arises: faulty mood regulation by the brain, genetic vulnerability, stressful life events, medications, and medical problems health.Harvard.edu). Chemicals in the brain are also responsible for causing depression. One can have too much of one chemical and not enough of the other which causes an unbalance in the brain.
