Key Building Blocks
Key Building Blocks of Successful Doctoral Students The successful completion of doctoral study
in the United States, depending on the discipline, eludes 30–50% of students who apply to programs
(Berleson 1960; Gardner, 2009; Pyhalto, Toom, Stubb, & Lonka, 2012). Potential doctoral learners
must meet rigorous admission requirements, which include: scoring above average on graduate
exams and a grasp of foundational knowledge exemplified during the interview process, to convince
the admission committee of their worthiness as an acceptable candidate (Baker & Pifer, 2011;
Gardner, 2009). Self–direction is further tested after admission when students must transform their
thinking as an acquiring informational vessel to one who disseminates ... Show more content on

As the learner is immersed in the culture of the discipline and as new roles and responsibilities are
acquired, the student may assess how his or her values and belief system is influenced (Baker &
Pifer, 2011; Colbeck, 2008; Foot et al., 2014; Gardner, 2009). This self–examination may allow the
student to determine whether the socialization structure is conducive to his or her goals.
Nonetheless, self–direction does not always mean high self–esteem. Students with the highest grade
point average or high Graduation Record Examination scores are not always the students who
successfully complete the transition from student to scholar, but those who take the initiative to seek
help accomplish this goal (Baker & Pifer, 2011; Foot et al., 2014; Gardner, 2009; Smith &
Hatmaker, 2014). This initiative may be credited to continuing self–reflection of academic
experiences with advanced students, faculty and established scholars. Hence, potential scholar's
identities can build from completion of the academic admissions process to fortifying academic
relationships, which forge thinking. Academic Relationships Another characteristic of doctoral
identity for successful scholars is the intellectual component formed through the building of
academic relationships. Throughout the doctoral journey, beginning scholars consult with peers,
professors, and research

Superstitions: The Building Blocks Of American Culture
Superstitions, legends, and myths are a big part of everyday culture and society and they always
have been. The proof is seen when applying what are considered the building blocks of culture
which are symbols, language, values, and norms. You may ask what types of symbols, language,
values, and norms are represented and shared through superstitions and legends and how?
"A symbol is anything that stands for something else and has a particular meaning for people who
share a culture," (Benokraits, 201x). Symbols take many forms, distinguish one culture from
another, and change over time. Symbols can take form in written words, tattoos, gestures, pictures,
etc. (Benokraits,201x). In our modern American culture, we have many symbols that represent ...

When it comes to popular superstitions, many people have a tendency to try to reverse any bad luck
that they may have acquired or do anything that is considered lucky. To counteract bad luck, you
should knock on wood and if you spill salt, you should throw a pinch of it over your left shoulder.
To avoid bad luck you must not walk under a ladder, you must not break a mirror, you must not
open an umbrella indoors, you must avoid the number 666, you must avoid having a black cat cross
your path, and you must avoid cracks in the sidewalk. In order to enhance your chances of good
luck, you should pick up pennies, you should find four–leaf clovers, you should have horseshoes,
you should have rabbit's feet, and you should cross your fingers, (Ratner, 20xx). All across America,
it has become the norm in today's society, to act upon

Changing Demographics And Building Blocks Learning Center
Part I – Changing Demographics and Building Blocks Learning Center The population in Hansvale
County has been on the rise since 2000, going up about 1,000 people every five years or so, with the
projected total population to be right under 31,000 in 2015 (Data and Statistics for Hansvale County,
Minnesota, personal communication, n.d.). The diversity at the elementary school level has about
40% white, black, 27%, Asian 20%, Hispanic, 13%, creating a diverse background (Data and
Statistics for Hansvale County, Minnesota, personal communication, n.d.). Asian and Hispanic have
the most dual language learners and the percentage of families speacking a second language at home

Because of the language barrier, the child does not come to the center in the cold, in the rain or any
inclement weather because the family walks from their home to the school. Another example of how
home language or race has impacted children and families is in a classroom that shows in group
bias. In group bias towards the groups in which people are members (Patterson & Bigler, 2006).
What could happen in an instance such as this is as the children become more aware of societal
norms that favor certain groups over others, they will often show a bias toward the socially
privileged group (Winkler, 2009). A study showed that children of color as young as five years old
show evidence of being aware of, and negatively impact by sterotypes about their racial group
(Hirschfeld, 2008). This is evident in a classroom where the children start taking on the bias role of
the teacher. In a classroom, children are questioning the skin color of another child. Instead of the
teacher stopping to talk about how we are all the same, just different colors, the teacher ignores it.
This silence will force children to come up with their own biases, prejudices and assumptions about
races other than their own. One way that Building Blocks Learning Center can respond to the
changing demographis to ensure an equitable program is to provide the students with high quality
teaching.

Chemical Building Blocks And Nutrition

Connections Assignment

The topic that was often discussed in class this semester and that has truly interested me the most is
the chemical building blocks and nutrition. Nutrition can be defined as nourishment and the process
of selecting, preparing foods and getting those foods into our bodies then use them as raw materials
for growth and development, vitamins, minerals and fuel for energy that would keep our bodies
functioning in a proper way. Chemical building blocks of life are basic components for natural and
organic synthesis that are necessary in our nutrition. They can be identified as chemical groups that
include amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and energy. Chemical building blocks such as
proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, ATP, and nucleic acids do play an important role in our daily lives.
Nutrients that come from those chemical blocks play critical roles in providing food, energy, and
facilitate reactions in the organisms of human beings.
Having a proper nutrition and eating right is one of the most important elements for being healthy
and increase human's life expectancy and energy. While maintaining proper nutrition we are able to
provide our bodies with all necessary foods that contain necessary vitamins and minerals, and that
way we can continue to do well in our daily life processes. Additionally, nutrition is usually applied
in human's daily life and it means that the person takes in what he or

The Basic Building Block Of Carbohydrates
POLYMER SCIENCE
[Document subtitle]
History of Carbohydrates–
Carbohydrates are one of the macronutrients used in our diet and also protein–carbohydrate
interactions are an essential component of cellular structure and function. Vegetables, food grains,
fruits, many other dairy products naturally contain carbohydrates in various amounts. The basic
building block of carbohydrates is a simple combination of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen. Any
compound containing these three elements and having twice as many hydrogen atoms as carbon and
oxygen are the chemical definition of the carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates are called as the natural polymers. Natural polymers occur in the nature and they can
be extracted. They are water based. Some examples of natural polymers are DNA cellulose and
proteins. There is also another type of the polymers called as synthetic polymers those which are
derived from the petroleum oils and they are made by the engineers. Some examples of the synthetic
polymers are nylon, Teflon, polyester.
Humans when evolved used to eat only fruits and tubers year around. Fruits and tubers are consisted
of safe starches and every one can consume them regularly and they become excellent part of their
life's. Then humans started to hunt animals for food. Many scientists believe that when humans
started eating meat those which are high suppliers of the carbohydrates human's brains become big.

The Building Blocks Of Successful Leadership Essay
4 The building blocks of successful leadership pipeline
Despite the benefits listed above, leadership succession remains a cause of concern for a number of
organisations. DDI's Global Leadership Forecast from 2011 showed how only 38% of participating
leaders said the quality of leadership within their organisation is either very good or excellent. More
importantly, only 18% of HR professionals in the same survey felt the organisations have a strong
bench to respond to future needs. In order to make the most of the leadership pipeline model,
organisations must also focus on the following four elements.
A simple system with buy–in from the senior leadership team
The focus should be on creating a clear and simple pipeline framework. The more complex the
program, the more it risks failing at some point. If the organisation is able to reduce the bureaucracy
required to run the system, then it ensures the system is based on clarity and effectiveness. One way
to remove complexity from the system is by narrowing its focus. The processes used must be
focused on the actual objectives and needs of the organisation. There's no reason to add broadness
by creating a far–reaching process when there is no need for it. The scope is at its best when it
doesn't focus on every person within the organisation, but narrows the effort down towards a few
key players. Furthermore, it's important to ensure the system is flexible enough to respond the
changing needs within the organisation.

Mathematics : The Basic Building Blocks Of Mathematics
Mathematics has become one of the topics that many adults think of as a subject that is not used in
their everyday life. However, if people start looking at their daily tasks, they will begin to see that
mathematics is a skill that they use every day. Mathematics is used when you are making change at
the store, baking, putting together a budget, and many other ways. An elementary teacher needs to
be able to help children learn the basic building blocks of mathematics. In order for teachers to be
successful in teaching mathematics, they have to push their students to become problem solvers. In
teaching children to become problem solvers, student will be able to have math fluency. Problem
solving is a skill that students will continue to develop all throughout their lives. In mathematics,
problem solving is a skill that required the student to use prior knowledge in order to learn a new
concept. Imagine a child's brain full of red and blue dots. The learners new ideas (blue dots) need to
connect with existing ideas (red dots) in order for students become successful in mathematics (Van
De Walle et al., 2013, p. 20). By being able to problem solve, students are showing that they have
math proficiency that includes conceptual understand, procedural fluency, strategic competence,
adaptive reasoning, and productive disposition. In order to achieve math proficiency we have to
encourage children to problem solve to the best of their ability, and then help guide them into

building blocks of chemical substance. He defined an element as 'a substance that could not be
composed into simpler substances. He identified four groups; metals, non–metal, elastic fluids (gas)
and earth after examining the physical and chemical properties. 1829 – Johann Dobereiner
developed the Law of Triads; the middle element's atomic weight was the average of the other two
elements. The elements within each triad were organised by atomic weight and noted that many
characteristics of the middle elemetns would mediate between the three. 1863 – John Newlands
discovered the Law of Octaves; elements exhibited similar behaviours and possessed similar
physical and chemical properties to the eighth element following it in the table. 1864 – Lothar
Meyer developed a periodic table with only 28 elements organised by valence. His version of the
periodic table was often disregarded in comparison to Mendeleev's which was published around the
same time as he did not leave gaps for undiscovered elements whereas Mendeleev did. 1869 –

The Production of Ammonia and Its Building Blocks
Also known as azane, ammonia is a chemical compound with one nitrogen and three hydrogen
atoms that are tightly bonded together; giving it the formula NH3. At room temperature, ammonia
exists in a gaseous state with a colourless form and a pungent smell. It boils at –33.34°C and
ammonia used for household uses is usually a mixture of ammonia and water. Ammonia provides
the right conditions and nutrition that are needed for the growth of terrestrial organisms. Even in
commercial products such as pharmaceuticals, ammonia is directly or indirectly a building block.
Ammonia that is used for commercial applications is called anhydrous ammonia. Since it has a very
low boiling point, the chemical should be kept at very low temperatures and pressure to sustain its
liquid form for commercial use. Some products that contain this alkaline substance can be cleaning
products or fertilizers, as ammonia is known to provide the right conditions for plants to grow.
Although the chemical has several commercial uses, it is very hazardous, even in low concentrations
and therefore it is important to handle the chemical properly. Inhaling or getting the solution on skin
can have several effects such as burning, fainting and even death. Even low concentrations can
cause damage to the human body when over exposed. Production
The natural occurrence of ammonia happens when plants, animals or organic matter decompose,
releasing ammonia into the air. Not only that, but ammonia salts can also be

Building Blocks Of A Team
Building Blocks of a Team When it comes time to build an effective team for a growing
organization, the first and most important step is to determine what work will be done. The second
step is to analyze and create a plan to define the goals and objectives, by defining specific roles and
tasks you will ensure that there are no responsibilities being overlapped that could cause problems
and tension down the road. Once the goals have been defined, the next step is to choose the
individuals that will best support the common goal of the organization as well as what strengths and
abilities each team member should hold. Building a team for a growing organization takes a lot of
thoughts and research in order to make the team and business thrive (Mindtools.com, 2015). The
first stage of the team building is the forming stage, this is where the members all become
acquainted with one another and the goals and objectives are set. This is where the members will
propose ideas that will help the Health Care Inc. become more competitive. The second stage is the
storming stage where the team members will have to overcome any diversity or conflicts that will
arise so that they can move ahead and continue to brainstorm. The team members need to make
amends during this stage in order to move on to the next stage to have a team of unity. By the third
stage, group members are occupied in active acknowledgment of all members' contributions and
solving of group issues. Members are willing to

The Building Block of a Nation's Magnificent History The French and Indian War was a sudden
conflict between two countries that, even though seemed like an isolated incident, would become a
building block of a country's magnificent history. The 1700's in pre–american territory were filled
with two enemies, the English and French, skirmishing against each other. The English had built
settlements along the east coast. The marvelous Appalachian Mountains, which spread for miles,
separated the enemies, and the tension between them was low. Over the course of 50 years, the
English population had been gradually escalating when 250,000 grew to 1.25 million. This caused
people to migrate westward as they began the search for new land. However, towards the west, the
French had built forts to keep the English away from them. The European empire at this time began
to expand, and Indians began to spread out farther across the land. The expansion of both sides
would soon lead to the two enemies skirmishing. For most of ... Show more content on

principles of behavior analysis. I did this along with the probing questions found in the chapter's

Mayer, Sulzer–Azaroff, and Wallace (2014) underscored the importance of describing all behaviors
in an analytic perspective, not to rely on internal processes as valid explanations for the given
behavior. This observation aligns with BACB Task List, FK–07 because it highlights the importance
to identify observable behavior in an environmental context. This makes these observations tangible,

According to Mayer et al. (2014) code 1.03 facilitates professional development by expanding
understanding of current practices and maintaining core concepts in behavior analysis. This
diligence to their credentials assists in ongoing efforts to continue broadening and maintaining
behavior analysis comprehension. This brings me to the importance of providing services within the
scope of your training, not to overstep your knowledge base, which aligns with code 1.02 of
Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Analysts. These two codes share a
symbiotic relationship; the former is about maintaining and expanding individual's current
understanding of applied behavior analysis, while the latter is about how services are provided in

1.02 are essential for the social skills intervention project. It will assist me not only in a principled
approach, but it will intensify my understanding of a practical application of behavior analysis.

reproduced when introducing these Building Blocks as a part of the PLC culture within your district
and high school. As you think abut implementing this within your district or high school, I challenge
you to think about who might the learners be for each group that supports collaborative teaming as
an element of creating the culture of PLCs. For example, district employees would consider school
leadership and LLTs as their learners, school leadership teams would consider licensed staff as their
learners and collaborative team members would align their work around student learning. The rubric
was created to be general enough so that each group can utilize the rubric.

Cells, They Are The Building Block Of All Life, They Are
Cells, they are the building block of all life, they are what make up the entirety of living things on
Earth and without them living things would cease to exist. It is because of this that cells are
considered to be the most important known unit of life and are studied so often. Cells were first
observed in the mid 17th century by English physicist and microscopist Robert Hooke using on of
the earliest versions of the microscope. (Biologyreference.com, 2017) Hooke's observations led to
further investigations and studies into the topic of cells resulting in many major breakthroughs in the
field of biology. Possibly the biggest of these breakthroughs is credited to have being made by

A few examples of specialised cells include red blood cells which provide oxygen to body tissues,
beta cells which release the hormone insulin in the pancreas and nerve cells which send messages to
and from different parts of the body using electrical impulses.(Bbc.co.uk, 2017)
In regards to their basic structure, according to the SEER Training website, "cells consist of three
parts: the cell membrane, the nucleus, and, between the two, the cytoplasm."
(Training.seer.cancer.gov, 2017) This is true for animal cells however plant cells contain a fourth
part which is known as the cell wall, it is located on the outside of the cell membrane and allows the
cell to keep its rigid shape. It should also be known that there are types of cells that do not contain a
nucleus, these are called prokaryotic cells and generally still have the same characteristics as cells
that do have a nucleus which are known as eukaryotic cells. (Study.com, 2017) As seen in Figure 1
cells also contain organelles which keep the cell alive and allow it to function effectively. The
cytoplasm of the cell which resides between the cell membrane and the nucleus is a gel–like liquid
filling the inside of the cell. The cytoplasm allows the cell to have shape and allows the cell 's
organelles to move around the cell as needed and function correctly. The nucleus is widely

Reflective Essay: The Building Blocks Of New Mexico
The building blocks of New Mexico are Culture and Tradition just like the building blocks of my
home town Hatch are Chile and Farming. Building blocks are the structure of everything and stand
as a framework of underlying support. My building blocks are mainly Irish and Scottish with a little
Spanish showing the diversity of my blood but I live in a mainly Spanish oriented town making for a
unique combination. Being mainly of Irish and Scottish decent yet growing up in a Spanish oriented
town I was exposed to many different cultures and traditions that I have adopted as my own, which
has made me appreciate the influence of culture and traditions. Hatch has a very large Hispanic

My foundation for medicine started back in 2008 when I lost my grandmother to cancer. We were
close and watching her go through that was very hard on me. After she passed I promised I would
help people and that's when I started to think about medicine. Then in 2013 my mother found lumps
in her breasts and had to fight with the insurance company for a year to get a Prophylactic Bilateral
Mastectomy. Watching her fight for her right to have a lifesaving procedure was what made me
confirm medicine was the career path I wanted. I want to make sure that everyone in New Mexico
gets the best possible care and I want to give back to small communities because I come from one.
My foundation is built on the promise that I will help people and that everyone gets the care that
they need and deserve. I will uphold that promise. Small Communities and large communities
throughout New Mexico deserve a great doctor capable of delivering the best quality care and I want
to be that doctor. I have the strong foundation to go far in medicine and ensure that New Mexico

The building blocks of a tragic hero
Imperfection, manipulation and ignorance are the perfect ingredients for creating a tragic hero. A
great example of a person displaying these traits would be no other than Othello, from William
Shakespeare's play "Othello". Throughout the play, Othello is manipulated and as a result he
becomes extremely jealous and angry with the ones he loves. Othello is easily manipulated by the
conversations between Iago and himself. Othello's tragedy is caused because of personal flaws, and
misguided trust in others, which is evident as his dialect, and behaviours change throughout the play.
Othello's own flaws and insecurities; jealousy, rage, insecurities and misguided trust in others

In the end, Othello's anger and mistrust, fuelled by Iago's lies, leads to Othello's tragic demise.
Othello's behaviour and dialect changes drastically throughout the play as a result of misguided trust
in Iago. During the beginning of the play, Othello expresses his love for Desdemona. "I cannot
speak enough of this content; / It stops me here; it is too much of joy. They kiss. And this, and this,
the greatest discords be/ That e'er our hearts shall make." (II.i.189–93) Othello is happy that he
married Desdemona and he expresses his love openly for her. However, Othello's behaviour changes
as Iago's influence causes him to become jealous and angry. "Hang her, I do but say what she is: so
delicate with her needle, an admirable musician– O, she will sing the savageness out of bear– of so
high and plenteous wit and invention–" (IV.i.183–86) Othello still feels love towards Desdemona
but blinded by anger from false information, he allows himself to feel hatred and negative thoughts
towards Desdemona, as seen in the change of his dialect. As the play progresses, after Othello kills
Desdemona, his attitude towards the situation changes drastically. "Of one that lov'd not wisely, but
too well; Of one not easily jealous but, being wrought, Perplex'd in the extreme; of one whose hand,
Like the base Indian, threw a pearl away." (V.ii.340–43) Filled with guilt and remorse

Risk Building Blocks and Gender Differences: An Analysis
Risks Building Blocks The four risk building blocks are discovery, measurement, classification, and
prioritization (Miller, 2006). Discovery identifies all the components necessary to ensure risk
management programs are effective, including technology infracture, users of it, information assets,
and processes. Measurement is assessing capabilities and requirements (compliance, service
agreements, and information availability), vulnerabilities (including weaknesses in applications,
networks, operations, and organization), and threats to security to be able to prioritize according to
the degree of risk. Classification of requirements, goals and function of a risk management can be
ranked by type of information and how critical it is and compare where it is in terms of the goals of
the risk management program. Prioritization is building risk zones based on the importance of the
types of information and threats to availability or security. Prioritization allows for better risk
management decisions and ensures a balanced approach to preventing, detecting, responding to, and
managing risks. The building blocks are a viable way for an organization to build higher levels of
security for the information system. "Failure to identify, assess, and mitigate IT risks set the business
up for serious security breaches and financial losses down the road" (Bentley, 2010). Using the four
building blocks, organizations can identify the components, measure the risks, classify the

Emily Whitmer Rose Glasser EDTP 201 10/28/16 Ethnography: The Building Blocks of Learning I
remember my first day going to a school to observe. It felt more inquiring, rather than being
obligated to go to school just because I had to, like the state required us to. Ever since I have been
given two field placements, I have been increasingly interested in the teaching profession. My first
field placement has been an eye opener for all other rolls in a school. It has showed me just how
important other rolls are in a school, and how they can affect and tie into how a student does in a
classroom. Having two field placements has given me a new outlook on the classroom environment,
curriculum, and what goes on behind the scenes in the teaching profession. In my second field
placement, which is what this ethnography will evolve around, I was placed at Blue Lick
Elementary School (right next to Knight Middle School). Blue Lick Elementary School collaborates
with Knight Middle School, to ease the transition to 6th grade. This school is located in Heritage

The Civil War : A Building Block Of The Constitution
The Civil War was a building block of the Constitution we have today. If the Civil War would not
have been fought, the United States would look very different –– it would be divided, years behind
in its addressing of racial issues, and certain Constitutional issues, especially involving states' rights,
would never have been resolved. After decades of heated tensions between the Northern and
Southern states over state rights and federal authority, slavery and westward expansion it finally
exploded into the Civil war on April 12, 1861. The presidential election of anti–slavery republican
Abraham Lincoln in the year 1860 caused 7 southern states to secede from the union. After the first

the former Louisiana territory establishing the boundary of free and slave states. The Missouri
Compromise held the union together for about 30 years until it was repelled by the Kansas–
Nebraska act of 1854. The Kansas–Nebraska Act was passed by the U.S. Congress on May 30,
1854. It allowed people in the states of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether they
did or did not allow slavery within their borders repelling the Compromise which prohibited slavery
north of latitude 36°30´. Three years later, the Supreme Court in the Dred Scott case declared the
Missouri Compromise unconstitutional, stating that congress was prohibited by the 5th amendment
from depriving citizens from private properties such as slaves. Basically stating that even though the
north has banned slavery, they are still required to return fleeing slaves to their rightful owners. Fort

Genetics
Much research has gone into learning about the human genome and the building blocks of life.
Thanks to genetic research we have learned about mutations and what medical effects they can have
on a person. Genetic research allows us to better understand and genetic variation. It has made easier
the process of mass producing crops. Because of how useful genetic research is, billions of dollars
have been invested in it by companies around the world. But what exactly is behind all of these
achievements in biotechnology?
In order to understand how the human genome works, it is necessary to understand how a cell
works. A cell has eight parts. The first is the plasma membrane which is the outer coating of the cell.
The second is the cytoplasm which contains the cell's functioning parts. The lysosomes and
peroxisomes recycle any worn out cell parts. The golgi apparatus is involved in molecule packaging
and transport. Mitochondria contain some of the cell's DNA. Ribosomes are responsible for creating
proteins. The nucleus contains most of the cell's genetic instructions (. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid)
is an arrangement of nucleotides in the shape of a double helix (a spiraling ladder). Nucleotides have
three components: one sugar molecule, one phosphate molecule, and a base pair. A base pair consists
of two chemical bases which vary between T (thymine), A (adenine), G (guanine), and C (cytosine).
Base pairs will pair up in a certain way:

The Building Blocks Of The Renaissance Movement
The Building Blocks of the Renaissance Movement Some may think of the Renaissance as a single
movement, but this movement actually consisted of three different periods known as the Early, the
High and the Northern Renaissance. There were significant differences between each of these
periods, as well as important leading figures from each. All three Renaissances were individual
pieces of history that built upon the knowledge of each other. Without one, subsequent periods
would not have been as successful, or even possible. For instance, the translation of Plato's works
into a western language in the Early Renaissance made a huge impact on Western society by sharing
the philosopher's thoughts and ideas with the western speaking world. This helped to fuel the
thinkers to think, the painters to paint and the writers to write, from Mirandola the philosopher to
Leonardo da Vinci to the great William Shakespeare. Understanding the impact that the Renaissance
had on the world is to appreciate the differences between these three periods, perceive how they
developed and how they became the focus of the humanities. To recognize how the Renaissance
applies to the humanities, a depiction of each must be understood. The word Renaissance, or rebirth,
is a derived form of the word naissance, the French word for birth. The meaning of the term
Renaissance refers to a period in history between the beginnings of the fifteenth century up until the
mid–sixteenth century. During this time,

Thomas Jefferson : A Building Block
Thomas Jefferson: A Building Block to America
Thomas Jefferson wrote important letters to James Madison and John Adams when he was around
the age of forty–four. He was very a very intelligent and opinionated individual, but was always
trying to do what he thought was best for the United States of America. His goal was to make the
government of this country the best that it could possibly be. This is ultimately why Jefferson has
been given the name of a founding father. Jefferson had his own philosophies on what he thought
the United States should become. His way of getting these philosophies know was by writing a

He felt that there needed to be laws for everyone to follow and that they should all be equal.
Jefferson felt that there needed to be "A literal listing of the individual human freedoms guaranteed
under the new American government" (Barefoot). The second thing that Jefferson disliked was "the
abandonment in every instance of the necessity of rotation in office, and most particularly in the
case of the President" (312). Thus, meaning that the first president will always be re–elected if the
constitution allows it. Jefferson does not agree with this because that makes the person an elected
officer for life. He believes that after someone is elected, when the second election comes around
and they are outvoted, it is very easy for the person to put in fake votes so they can stay in office.
This is not a reliable system that they had established and Jefferson believed it should be changed.
Jefferson thought that the people should re–elect someone every four years.
The letter that Jefferson wrote to John Adams was on the subject of aristocracy. It was about the
differences in natural and artificial aristocracy. At the beginning, Jefferson stated, "I agree with you
that there is a natural aristocracy among men" (314). By using the phrase "natural aristocracy," they
mean people who are at the top of society and have great virtue and

A Preliminary Literature Survey
Eliasson et al., (2015) states that 'Small embedded systems equipped with a combination of sensors

The major challenge in IoT is interoperability. Interoperability can be achieved by the use of many
protocols some of which are proprietary while the others are open standards. All these protocols are
focused to result in one and only IoT protocol. But Semle (Semle) believes that this will never be the
case and that these protocols would co–exist each with their own advantages and disadvantages. The

Security
In the context of Industrial control systems, the term security refers to data security as well as
protection of humans, environment and machines or devices as a result of system failure. With the
introduction of information technology with industrial systems, protection against cyber attacks has
become a major factor considered for the design of IIoT systems at different levels. For an industrial
production system, the main objective is availability, which means any unnecessary delay due to
cyber attacks or system failure would result in loss of huge revenue. This particularly consists of
protection against denial–of–service attacks (Sadeghi et al., 2015).

1. What are proteins composed of (ie basic building blocks)?

The two main basic secondary structures are the alpha helix and the beta sheet. The alpha helix
secondary structure of the protein coils because of the hydrogen bonds between the backbones of
their amino acids. The backbone of the amino acid is the peptide bonds. So because of the hydrogen
bonds forming between the amine nitrogens and the carbonyl oxygens in different amino acids the
protein has become a helix shape.
The beta sheet or the beta pleated sheet is designed from the hydrogen bonds between the carbonyl
oxygens in one strand binding with the amino hydrogens of the adjacent strand.

What Makes A Quilt?
There is nothing more interesting, and rewarding, than hand piecing a quilt top. An assortment of
articles is needed, such as: straight pins, brightly colored scraps of material, your quilt block pattern
pieces, scissors, a needle, thread, and a thimble. One other item, not necessarily needed but very
helpful, is a good warm fire and a lot of heavy snow clouds. First of all, your scraps need to be flat,
and pressed, if possible. You need to start with a simple pattern, such as the "Nine Patch" if you
have never pieced a quilt top before. Choose the kinds of material that you desire for each color that
you want to put in your quilt block. Place the pattern piece on the material and pin down with
straight pins so that the material won 't slip while you are cutting and cause your piece to come out
oddly shaped. Proceed in this manner, with each pattern piece, until you have enough pieces cut out
for the block. It is better to cut pieces for enough blocks to last for the length of time that you plan to
work. It may take some guessing on this part. If you desire to, you can cut enough pieces for the
entire quilt top, however I would suggest not trying to do too much cutting at once because you may
get ready to quit before you get to the fun part. I prefer to cut for awhile and then do some sewing,
then you can go back and cut some more. More than likely you will not be able to finish the
complete top in one day, anyway. After your pieces are all cut, find a good, comfortable

BRAND BUILDING BLOCKS
Building Strong Brands: Why Is It Hard?
It is not easy to build brands in today 's environment. The brand builder who attempts to develop a
strong brand is like a golfer playing on a course with heavy roughs, deep sand traps, sharp doglegs,
and vast water barriers. It is difficult to score well in such conditions. Substantial pressures and
barriers, both internal and external, can inhibit the brand builder. To be able to develop effective
brand strategies, it is useful to understand these pressures and barriers
Different factors that make it difficult to build brands are shown in the figure above. The first,
pressure to compete on price, directly affects the motivation to build brands. The second reason, the

What, then, happens to the people who support the brand with market research or other brand–

2. Proliferation Of Competitors
New, vigorous competitors come from a variety of sources. A host of food categories have watched
Weight Watchers and Healthy Choice enter their markets through brand extension strategies. In the
snack category, Frito–Lay has seen regional brands expand and Budweiser 's Eagle brand break out
of its niche to become a major competitor. New product forms that provide real alternatives for the
customer have encroached the soft drink market, bottled water, carbonated water, fruit–based drinks,
and "new age" drinks, among others.
Additional competitors not only contribute to price pressure and brand complexity, but also make it
much harder to gain and hold a position. They leave fewer holes in the market to exploit and fewer
implementation vehicles to own. Each brand tends to be positioned more narrowly, the target
markets become smaller, and the non–target market becomes larger. Efforts to market to a broad
segment thus become more difficult in the face of the complex 'brandscape' Further, some new or
desperate competitors may be motivated to take risks or attempt unusual approaches. The result can
be destabilization of the competitive dynamics. There is also an enhanced motivation to copy
anything that is successful, in part because the risks of

Building Block Of A Community Essay
Sustainable Development is the practice of considering the societal, environmental, and economic
issues to be related in order to achieve a functioning and well developed community. This is
accomplished by disregarding original thoughts of privilege and importance, and instead focusing
on creating possibilities in order to solve the crisis as a whole (Sustainability and Sustainable
Development, 2003). In order to generate a sustainable environment, one must examine the Three
Pillars in the Triple Bottom Line, and determine the success by viewing them as an entirety, not
individually. By examining both Sweden and Ethiopia, one can see how they are both plagued with
many sustainability concerns due to the negligence of the repercussions of one solution to a different
building block of a community. This ultimately asks the question on whether or not they will be able
to survive and prosper, or if they will collapse like many other civilizations throughout history
(Diamond, n.p).
When thinking in terms of Sustainability, one must work to improve basic human needs in terms of
financially, while not damaging society or the environment. In other words, there must be a
realization and an effort to think about the quality of life for some, while also protecting the Earth's
ecosystems by combining the two, and not having the notion that one is more or less important than
the other (Sustainability and Sustainable Development, 2003). In order to gain a sustainable domain

Although he has identified the challenges, he also recommends ways of implementing innovation in

blocks of innovation in his report.
Ways of Acting:
In "The Challenge of Innovating in Government," Sandford Borins (2006) report first identifies the
five innovation building blocks. The first building block was the use of a system approach.
According to Borins (2006), from a previous study, approached the data with his own classification
scheme for the characteristics of the innovations, partnership, which was one component. Borins
(2006) identified that there are varying levels of complexity and comprehensiveness of
organizational partners and cooperative arrangements.
Building block two: the use of information technology systems in large government are large and
expensive, and experience has shown that some systems have been costly and disastrous failures
(Borins, 2006). Information technology is widely considered as a way of innovation, but with the
technologic advancement it has been a challenge for government.
Building block three: process improvement refers to innovation designed to make governmental
processes faster, friendlier, or more acceptable (Borins, 2006). According to Borins (2006), these
initiatives often involved applications of the Pareto rule (20 percent of the cases are responsible for

Romantic love is a very mysterious and profound emotion, in which many people can not sustain.
There are three main components of a lasting romance: passion, commitment and lust. "A strong

dopamine. Lasting love appears after the passion awakened by oxytocin from intimacy arises;
through time the attachment gets stronger and bonds deepen creating commitment for two people.
Relationships go through many changes throughout their course, which causes an imbalance in
passion, commitment and intimacy. According to Sternberg's theory of love these three factors
create the ideal love referred to as consummate love. Although a lasting relationship can be a
consummate love, which is the love seen most in long lasting marriages, contains intimacy and
commitment, yet the marriage is lacking passion. Passion is simply defined as infatuation; in a
relationship that has lasted a long period of time infatuation is not a necessity.

Key Building Blocks

  • 1. Key Building Blocks Key Building Blocks of Successful Doctoral Students The successful completion of doctoral study in the United States, depending on the discipline, eludes 30–50% of students who apply to programs (Berleson 1960; Gardner, 2009; Pyhalto, Toom, Stubb, & Lonka, 2012). Potential doctoral learners must meet rigorous admission requirements, which include: scoring above average on graduate exams and a grasp of foundational knowledge exemplified during the interview process, to convince the admission committee of their worthiness as an acceptable candidate (Baker & Pifer, 2011; Gardner, 2009). Self–direction is further tested after admission when students must transform their thinking as an acquiring informational vessel to one who disseminates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the learner is immersed in the culture of the discipline and as new roles and responsibilities are acquired, the student may assess how his or her values and belief system is influenced (Baker & Pifer, 2011; Colbeck, 2008; Foot et al., 2014; Gardner, 2009). This self–examination may allow the student to determine whether the socialization structure is conducive to his or her goals. Nonetheless, self–direction does not always mean high self–esteem. Students with the highest grade point average or high Graduation Record Examination scores are not always the students who successfully complete the transition from student to scholar, but those who take the initiative to seek help accomplish this goal (Baker & Pifer, 2011; Foot et al., 2014; Gardner, 2009; Smith & Hatmaker, 2014). This initiative may be credited to continuing self–reflection of academic experiences with advanced students, faculty and established scholars. Hence, potential scholar's identities can build from completion of the academic admissions process to fortifying academic relationships, which forge thinking. Academic Relationships Another characteristic of doctoral identity for successful scholars is the intellectual component formed through the building of academic relationships. • 3. Superstitions: The Building Blocks Of American Culture Superstitions, legends, and myths are a big part of everyday culture and society and they always have been. The proof is seen when applying what are considered the building blocks of culture which are symbols, language, values, and norms. You may ask what types of symbols, language, values, and norms are represented and shared through superstitions and legends and how? "A symbol is anything that stands for something else and has a particular meaning for people who share a culture," (Benokraits, 201x). Symbols take many forms, distinguish one culture from another, and change over time. Symbols can take form in written words, tattoos, gestures, pictures, etc. (Benokraits,201x). In our modern American culture, we have many symbols that represent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to popular superstitions, many people have a tendency to try to reverse any bad luck that they may have acquired or do anything that is considered lucky. To counteract bad luck, you should knock on wood and if you spill salt, you should throw a pinch of it over your left shoulder. To avoid bad luck you must not walk under a ladder, you must not break a mirror, you must not open an umbrella indoors, you must avoid the number 666, you must avoid having a black cat cross your path, and you must avoid cracks in the sidewalk. In order to enhance your chances of good luck, you should pick up pennies, you should find four–leaf clovers, you should have horseshoes, you should have rabbit's feet, and you should cross your fingers, (Ratner, 20xx). Changing Demographics And Building Blocks Learning Center Part I – Changing Demographics and Building Blocks Learning Center The population in Hansvale County has been on the rise since 2000, going up about 1,000 people every five years or so, with the projected total population to be right under 31,000 in 2015 (Data and Statistics for Hansvale County, Minnesota, personal communication, n.d.). The diversity at the elementary school level has about 40% white, black, 27%, Asian 20%, Hispanic, 13%, creating a diverse background (Data and Statistics for Hansvale County, Minnesota, personal communication, n.d.). Asian and Hispanic have the most dual language learners and the percentage of families speacking a second language at home has gone up from 9.25% in 2000 to 10.25% by 2015 (Data and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the language barrier, the child does not come to the center in the cold, in the rain or any inclement weather because the family walks from their home to the school. Another example of how home language or race has impacted children and families is in a classroom that shows in group bias. In group bias towards the groups in which people are members (Patterson & Bigler, 2006). What could happen in an instance such as this is as the children become more aware of societal norms that favor certain groups over others, they will often show a bias toward the socially privileged group (Winkler, 2009). A study showed that children of color as young as five years old show evidence of being aware of, and negatively impact by sterotypes about their racial group (Hirschfeld, 2008). This is evident in a classroom where the children start taking on the bias role of the teacher. In a classroom, children are questioning the skin color of another child. Instead of the teacher stopping to talk about how we are all the same, just different colors, the teacher ignores it. This silence will force children to come up with their own biases, prejudices and assumptions about races other than their own. One way that Building Blocks Learning Center can respond to the changing demographis to ensure an equitable program is to provide the students with high quality teaching. ... • 7. Chemical Building Blocks And Nutrition Zoya Naumchik Professor Scully BISC 1005 Connections Assignment 11/25/2014 The topic that was often discussed in class this semester and that has truly interested me the most is the chemical building blocks and nutrition. Nutrition can be defined as nourishment and the process of selecting, preparing foods and getting those foods into our bodies then use them as raw materials for growth and development, vitamins, minerals and fuel for energy that would keep our bodies functioning in a proper way. Chemical building blocks of life are basic components for natural and organic synthesis that are necessary in our nutrition. They can be identified as chemical groups that include amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and energy. Chemical building blocks such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, ATP, and nucleic acids do play an important role in our daily lives. Nutrients that come from those chemical blocks play critical roles in providing food, energy, and facilitate reactions in the organisms of human beings. Having a proper nutrition and eating right is one of the most important elements for being healthy and increase human's life expectancy and energy. The Basic Building Block Of Carbohydrates POLYMER SCIENCE [Document subtitle] History of Carbohydrates– Carbohydrates are one of the macronutrients used in our diet and also protein–carbohydrate interactions are an essential component of cellular structure and function. Vegetables, food grains, fruits, many other dairy products naturally contain carbohydrates in various amounts. The basic building block of carbohydrates is a simple combination of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen. Any compound containing these three elements and having twice as many hydrogen atoms as carbon and oxygen are the chemical definition of the carbohydrates. Some examples of natural polymers are DNA cellulose and proteins. There is also another type of the polymers called as synthetic polymers those which are derived from the petroleum oils and they are made by the engineers. • 11. The Building Blocks Of Successful Leadership Essay 4 The building blocks of successful leadership pipeline Despite the benefits listed above, leadership succession remains a cause of concern for a number of organisations. DDI's Global Leadership Forecast from 2011 showed how only 38% of participating leaders said the quality of leadership within their organisation is either very good or excellent. More importantly, only 18% of HR professionals in the same survey felt the organisations have a strong bench to respond to future needs. In order to make the most of the leadership pipeline model, organisations must also focus on the following four elements. A simple system with buy–in from the senior leadership team The focus should be on creating a clear and simple pipeline framework. The more complex the program, the more it risks failing at some point. If the organisation is able to reduce the bureaucracy required to run the system, then it ensures the system is based on clarity and effectiveness. One way to remove complexity from the system is by narrowing its focus. The processes used must be focused on the actual objectives and needs of the organisation. There's no reason to add broadness by creating a far–reaching process when there is no need for it. The scope is at its best when it doesn't focus on every person within the organisation, but narrows the effort down towards a few key players. Furthermore, it's important to ensure the system is flexible enough to respond the changing needs within the organisation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, if people start looking at their daily tasks, they will begin to see that mathematics is a skill that they use every day. Mathematics is used when you are making change at the store, baking, putting together a budget, and many other ways. An elementary teacher needs to be able to help children learn the basic building blocks of mathematics. In order for teachers to be successful in teaching mathematics, they have to push their students to become problem solvers. In teaching children to become problem solvers, student will be able to have math fluency. Problem solving is a skill that students will continue to develop all throughout their lives. In mathematics, problem solving is a skill that required the student to use prior knowledge in order to learn a new concept. Imagine a child's brain full of red and blue dots. The learners new ideas (blue dots) need to connect with existing ideas (red dots) in order for students become successful in mathematics (Van De Walle et al., 2013, p. 20). You have you consider the size, space and how many children will be in the room. You also have to consider the right materials, tables, chairs and supplies needed for each learning center to help the children work comfortably. In my math center children care, learn activities for sorting and counting, mathematical numeration, adding and subtracting, shape and colors, measurements and time. The Main Building Blocks Of Chemical Substance Question 1 1669 – Hennig Brand discovered Phosphorus through his attempt to create a Philosopher's Stone 1743 – 1794 – Antoine Lavoisier established that elements are the fundamental building blocks of chemical substance. He defined an element as 'a substance that could not be composed into simpler substances. He identified four groups; metals, non–metal, elastic fluids (gas) and earth after examining the physical and chemical properties. 1829 – Johann Dobereiner developed the Law of Triads; the middle element's atomic weight was the average of the other two elements. The elements within each triad were organised by atomic weight and noted that many characteristics of the middle elemetns would mediate between the three. 1863 – John Newlands discovered the Law of Octaves; elements exhibited similar behaviours and possessed similar physical and chemical properties to the eighth element following it in the table. 1864 – Lothar Meyer developed a periodic table with only 28 elements organised by valence. His version of the periodic table was often disregarded in comparison to Mendeleev's which was published around the same time as he did not leave gaps for undiscovered elements whereas Mendeleev did. 1869 – Dmitri Mendeleev produced a periodic table based on the atomic weight but arrange 'periodically' with elements with similar properties under each other. • 21. The Production of Ammonia and Its Building Blocks Also known as azane, ammonia is a chemical compound with one nitrogen and three hydrogen atoms that are tightly bonded together; giving it the formula NH3. At room temperature, ammonia exists in a gaseous state with a colourless form and a pungent smell. It boils at –33.34°C and ammonia used for household uses is usually a mixture of ammonia and water. Ammonia provides the right conditions and nutrition that are needed for the growth of terrestrial organisms. Even in commercial products such as pharmaceuticals, ammonia is directly or indirectly a building block. Ammonia that is used for commercial applications is called anhydrous ammonia. Since it has a very low boiling point, the chemical should be kept at very low temperatures and pressure to sustain its liquid form for commercial use. Some products that contain this alkaline substance can be cleaning products or fertilizers, as ammonia is known to provide the right conditions for plants to grow. Although the chemical has several commercial uses, it is very hazardous, even in low concentrations and therefore it is important to handle the chemical properly. Inhaling or getting the solution on skin can have several effects such as burning, fainting and even death. Even low concentrations can cause damage to the human body when over exposed. Production The natural occurrence of ammonia happens when plants, animals or organic matter decompose, releasing ammonia into the air. Not only that, but ammonia salts can also be ... Discovery identifies all the components necessary to ensure risk management programs are effective, including technology infracture, users of it, information assets, and processes. Measurement is assessing capabilities and requirements (compliance, service agreements, and information availability), vulnerabilities (including weaknesses in applications, networks, operations, and organization), and threats to security to be able to prioritize according to the degree of risk. Classification of requirements, goals and function of a risk management can be ranked by type of information and how critical it is and compare where it is in terms of the goals of the risk management program. It has made easier the process of mass producing crops. Because of how useful genetic research is, billions of dollars have been invested in it by companies around the world. But what exactly is behind all of these achievements in biotechnology? In order to understand how the human genome works, it is necessary to understand how a cell works. A cell has eight parts. The first is the plasma membrane which is the outer coating of the cell. The second is the cytoplasm which contains the cell's functioning parts. The lysosomes and peroxisomes recycle any worn out cell parts. The golgi apparatus is involved in molecule packaging and transport. Mitochondria contain some of the cell's DNA. Ribosomes are responsible for creating proteins. The nucleus contains most of the cell's genetic instructions (. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is an arrangement of nucleotides in the shape of a double helix (a spiraling ladder). Nucleotides have three components: one sugar molecule, one phosphate molecule, and a base pair. A base pair consists of two chemical bases which vary between T (thymine), A (adenine), G (guanine), and C (cytosine). Base pairs will pair up in a certain way: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though math is all around us, and everything we do involves math, I myself must say I dislike math. Research has shown there are many more people that dislike math compared to those who do like it. A survey done by a nonprofit organization named Change the Equation asked 1,000 middle school kids in 2010 whether they would prefer to eat broccoli or do one math problem, surprisingly more than half answered they would eat broccoli. Throughout the years, there have been many different strategies created on how to introduce and/or teach math to children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 57. The Building Blocks Of The Renaissance Movement The Building Blocks of the Renaissance Movement Some may think of the Renaissance as a single movement, but this movement actually consisted of three different periods known as the Early, the High and the Northern Renaissance. There were significant differences between each of these periods, as well as important leading figures from each. All three Renaissances were individual pieces of history that built upon the knowledge of each other. Without one, subsequent periods would not have been as successful, or even possible. For instance, the translation of Plato's works into a western language in the Early Renaissance made a huge impact on Western society by sharing the philosopher's thoughts and ideas with the western speaking world. This helped to fuel the thinkers to think, the painters to paint and the writers to write, from Mirandola the philosopher to Leonardo da Vinci to the great William Shakespeare. Understanding the impact that the Renaissance had on the world is to appreciate the differences between these three periods, perceive how they developed and how they became the focus of the humanities. To recognize how the Renaissance applies to the humanities, a depiction of each must be understood. The word Renaissance, or rebirth, is a derived form of the word naissance, the French word for birth. The meaning of the term Renaissance refers to a period in history between the beginnings of the fifteenth century up until the mid–sixteenth century. During this time, ... Thomas Jefferson : A Building Block Thomas Jefferson: A Building Block to America Thomas Jefferson wrote important letters to James Madison and John Adams when he was around the age of forty–four. He was very a very intelligent and opinionated individual, but was always trying to do what he thought was best for the United States of America. His goal was to make the government of this country the best that it could possibly be. This is ultimately why Jefferson has been given the name of a founding father. Jefferson had his own philosophies on what he thought the United States should become. His way of getting these philosophies know was by writing a letters to James Madison and John Adams to state his opinion. In these letters, he began to inform Madison and Adams what he ... Jefferson felt that there needed to be "A literal listing of the individual human freedoms guaranteed under the new American government" (Barefoot). The second thing that Jefferson disliked was "the abandonment in every instance of the necessity of rotation in office, and most particularly in the case of the President" (312). Thus, meaning that the first president will always be re–elected if the constitution allows it. Jefferson does not agree with this because that makes the person an elected officer for life. He believes that after someone is elected, when the second election comes around and they are outvoted, it is very easy for the person to put in fake votes so they can stay in office. This is not a reliable system that they had established and Jefferson believed it should be changed. Jefferson thought that the people should re–elect someone every four years. The letter that Jefferson wrote to John Adams was on the subject of aristocracy. It was about the differences in natural and artificial aristocracy. At the beginning, Jefferson stated, "I agree with you that there is a natural aristocracy among men" (314). The Core Building Blocks Of An Internet Of Things A Preliminary Literature Survey Eliasson et al., (2015) states that 'Small embedded systems equipped with a combination of sensors and/or actuators, as well as with networking capabilities, are the core building blocks of an Internet of Things'. The major challenge in IoT is interoperability. Interoperability can be achieved by the use of many protocols some of which are proprietary while the others are open standards. All these protocols are focused to result in one and only IoT protocol. For an industrial production system, the main objective is availability, which means any unnecessary delay due to cyber attacks or system failure would result in loss of huge revenue. With the writing and art centers, the children will be able to create works of art such as stories, pictures, writing their names, and other works of art that they would like. In the writing and art centers, the possibilities are endless as to what the children can create and they are able to use their imagination, fine motor skills, all while working on communicating their thoughts and ideas onto paper. The reason I chose building blocks/construction center for my classroom is because the children get to have a hands–on experience to learn through. List the amino acids and diagram their organic structure (C–N bonds). The 20 different amino acids are alanine, arginine, asparagines, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamic acid, glutamine, glycine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, proline, serine, threonine, tryptophan, tyrosine, and valine. The alpha helix secondary structure of the protein coils because of the hydrogen bonds between the backbones of their amino acids. The backbone of the amino acid is the peptide bonds. So because of the hydrogen bonds forming between the amine nitrogens and the carbonyl oxygens in different amino acids the protein has become a helix shape. The beta sheet or the beta pleated sheet is designed from the hydrogen bonds between the carbonyl oxygens in one strand binding with the amino hydrogens of the adjacent strand. 5. An assortment of articles is needed, such as: straight pins, brightly colored scraps of material, your quilt block pattern pieces, scissors, a needle, thread, and a thimble. One other item, not necessarily needed but very helpful, is a good warm fire and a lot of heavy snow clouds. First of all, your scraps need to be flat, and pressed, if possible. You need to start with a simple pattern, such as the "Nine Patch" if you have never pieced a quilt top before. Choose the kinds of material that you desire for each color that you want to put in your quilt block. Place the pattern piece on the material and pin down with straight pins so that the material won 't slip while you are cutting and cause your piece to come out oddly shaped. Proceed in this manner, with each pattern piece, until you have enough pieces cut out for the block. It is better to cut pieces for enough blocks to last for the length of time that you plan to work. It may take some guessing on this part. If you desire to, you can cut enough pieces for the entire quilt top, however I would suggest not trying to do too much cutting at once because you may get ready to quit before you get to the fun part. I prefer to cut for awhile and then do some sewing, then you can go back and cut some more. More than likely you will not be able to finish the complete top in one day, anyway. After your pieces are all cut, find a good, comfortable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The brand builder who attempts to develop a strong brand is like a golfer playing on a course with heavy roughs, deep sand traps, sharp doglegs, and vast water barriers. It is difficult to score well in such conditions. Substantial pressures and barriers, both internal and external, can inhibit the brand builder. To be able to develop effective brand strategies, it is useful to understand these pressures and barriers Different factors that make it difficult to build brands are shown in the figure above. Proliferation Of Competitors New, vigorous competitors come from a variety of sources. A host of food categories have watched Weight Watchers and Healthy Choice enter their markets through brand extension strategies. In the snack category, Frito–Lay has seen regional brands expand and Budweiser 's Eagle brand break out of its niche to become a major competitor. New product forms that provide real alternatives for the customer have encroached the soft drink market, bottled water, carbonated water, fruit–based drinks, and "new age" drinks, among others. Additional competitors not only contribute to price pressure and brand complexity, but also make it much harder to gain and hold a position. They leave fewer holes in the market to exploit and fewer implementation vehicles to own. Each brand tends to be positioned more narrowly, the target markets become smaller, and the non–target market becomes larger. Efforts to market to a broad segment thus become more difficult in the face of the complex 'brandscape' Further, some new or desperate competitors may be motivated to take risks or attempt unusual approaches. The result can be destabilization of the competitive dynamics. There is also an enhanced motivation to copy anything that is successful, in part because the risks of ... • 72. Building Block Of A Community Essay Sustainable Development is the practice of considering the societal, environmental, and economic issues to be related in order to achieve a functioning and well developed community. This is accomplished by disregarding original thoughts of privilege and importance, and instead focusing on creating possibilities in order to solve the crisis as a whole (Sustainability and Sustainable Development, 2003). In order to generate a sustainable environment, one must examine the Three Pillars in the Triple Bottom Line, and determine the success by viewing them as an entirety, not individually. By examining both Sweden and Ethiopia, one can see how they are both plagued with many sustainability concerns due to the negligence of the repercussions of one solution to a different building block of a community. This ultimately asks the question on whether or not they will be able to survive and prosper, or if they will collapse like many other civilizations throughout history (Diamond, n.p). When thinking in terms of Sustainability, one must work to improve basic human needs in terms of financially, while not damaging society or the environment. In other words, there must be a realization and an effort to think about the quality of life for some, while also protecting the Earth's ecosystems by combining the two, and not having the notion that one is more or less important than the other (Sustainability and Sustainable Development, 2003). Let's first start off by identifying what Borins has identified under the five building blocks of innovation in his report. Ways of Acting: In "The Challenge of Innovating in Government," Sandford Borins (2006) report first identifies the five innovation building blocks. The first building block was the use of a system approach. According to Borins (2006), from a previous study, approached the data with his own classification scheme for the characteristics of the innovations, partnership, which was one component. Borins (2006) identified that there are varying levels of complexity and comprehensiveness of organizational partners and cooperative arrangements. Building block two: the use of information technology systems in large government are large and expensive, and experience has shown that some systems have been costly and disastrous failures (Borins, 2006). Information technology is widely considered as a way of innovation, but with the technologic advancement it has been a challenge for government. Building block three: process improvement refers to innovation designed to make governmental processes faster, friendlier, or more acceptable (Borins, 2006). There are three main components of a lasting romance: passion, commitment and lust. "A strong dose of all three components [of love] typifies, for many of us, an ideal relationship" (Triangular Theory of Love). If an appropriate balance is maintained a relationship can reach nirvana, referred to as consummate love. Relationships go through many changes throughout their course, which causes an imbalance in passion, commitment and intimacy. According to Sternberg's theory of love these three factors create the ideal love referred to as consummate love.
