The Department of Orthopaedics at IMS, BHU has 5 teaching staff, 13 trauma staff, and 88 MBBS students. Strengths include a large clinical volume with over 130,000 OPD visits and 5000 surgeries annually, good teaching infrastructure, and collaborative research opportunities. Challenges include the need for specialty clinics, dedicated surgeons, a spinal injury center, and improved infrastructure to support the increasing patient load such as an O-arm and 3D printer. Administrative support is required to increase beds, operating theaters, and develop infrastructure like a bone bank, navigation systems, and equipment for advanced procedures.
