Essay about Canadian Human Rights
Human Rights Essay
Many people and nations around the world are deprived of human rights. The government in the
countries or nations usually can not help the people being deprived. Either because the government
is too poor to, it is not one of the things the government is looking into, or the government does not
know or care. Because of this certain people, or even whole populations are denied human rights and
their living conditions and way of life are usually not on the positive side of things. There are many
wealthier countries trying to help but sometimes that is not enough. To what extent should Canada
have a role in working to increase human rights protection in other nations?...show more content...
Not even a year later nearly every right of the Jewish people was eliminated, and hundreds of
thousands of Jewish people were killed or tortured.
Thankfully, the Jewish people and the country of Germany were liberated, and most rights were
brought back to affect, because of other countries helping. After the event of WWII the United
Nations was created, including Canada, England, France and others, it was created to make and
maintain human rights throughout the world. Sometimes the only thing that needs fixing is a new
government.
But war is not needed to improve and increase human rights in other nations. Even with out war there
are still nations and people without human rights; it just needs to be noticed.
There are many charities to help towards human rights that Canada contributes to greatly. Including
UNICEF Canada, Salvation Army Canada and Red Cross. These charities focus on mainly living
rights. The charities contribute mainly food, clothing and medicine. Those are only two given rights.
Although it is help for people to live their lives, it does not give them more rights, it is not a solution
to increase their human rights and protect them.
Lately Canada has done a lot with the United Nations in protecting human rights, including
communicating with countries and organizations to increase the rights of women and children.
There have been many improvements to their rights and conditions; political prisoners have been
freed from the trap

Essay On Human Rights
The rights of the individual are rights which we receive when being born, we have these rights in
order to protect ourselves, to give no one person absolute power, and to be 'free'. Freedom is one
of the most important aspects of society. This was shown by Locke with him believing that we
should all have our own rights that no one can take away. This was anideology that could protect
individuals freedom from each other as well as corrupt state. What is best for society is a value and
burden that we must all share, it is important for our society and global and national communities to
grow, but to what extent should we sacrifice our rights as individuals to develop our society? We
should not sacrifice the rights of the individual for what is best for society. The statement of "We
need to stop worrying about the rights f the individual and start worrying about what is best for
society." Is a source which has a strong ideology, but is almost backwards in its thinking. This is
because by sacrificing rights we are losing our ideologies as a society. The rights of individuals
protect and offer freedom, a core concept in our global society as well as our national
communities, as well as ourselves. One example of a right which we have in Canada to protect our
freedoms is our right to migrate to and from other countries. We can go to and from countries, live
in them, and we can still return back to Canada. This is important as if we didn't have this right as
individuals we

Essay on Human Rights
Legal essay
Human rights are protected under Australian law in three key ways; statute law, the constitution and
common law. It could be argued that if Australia adopted a bill of rights, human rights would be
more clearly defined, consistent in all states and territories and more easily understood.
Human rights are protected in Australia through statute law. Statute law refers to laws made by
parliament, also known as legislation. Moreover statute laws set up administrative bodies whose
responsibility it is to carry out the workings of these acts.Occasionally, judges are required to
interpret legislation or make decisions about the application of statute law. These decisions will have
binding impacts on human rights protection. Examples...show more content...
Common law is often called 'judge–made' law. This distinguishes it from laws made in Parliament.
It is certainly true that many protections we can identify as human rights are protected by
Australian judges applying common law principles. Examples include the obligation of a court
to refuse to allow an unfair trial to go ahead (even though the common law does not recognise a
right to free legal representation in a criminal trial) and the interpretation of permissible limits on
freedom of movement within Australia. Examples of common law decisions that protect human
rights in Australia include the Mabo Decision in 1992and the case of Dietrich V R 1992. In the
case Dietrich V the Queen; Olaf Dietrich was accused of importing 70 grams of heroin into
Australia, which he had concealed within condoms that he had swallowed. It should be noted that
the Court explicitly recognised that there is no "right" to legal representation at public expense.
However, the Court's decision was premised on the common law right that an accused receive a
fair trial and that legal representation is a component of a fair trial for a serious criminal offence.
The reasoning of the majority is reflected in the following passage from the judgment of Mason CJ
and McHugh J:
It should be accepted that Australian law does not recognise that an indigent accused on trial for a
serious criminal offence has a right to the provision of counsel at

Human Rights Reflection
Everyone has the duty and obligation to advance human rights, social, and economic justice but due
to the lack of accountability and responsibility, it is easier for many people to ignore or disregard
issues that are detrimental to the human spirit. When people collectively apply their understanding
of social, economic, and environmental justice to advocate for human rights at the individual and
system levels, it allows them to engage in practices that illuminate the intolerance of discrimination
against "nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, or any status"
("Your Human Rights", 2017). In other words, to be educated about current events or human rights
violations is simply not enough. Once an understanding and knowledge base is developed, it is
inevitable that engagement in practices are followed through. Becoming actively engaged by
changing the current status quo, educating and informing others, or getting involved politically is
instrumental to ensure that society is advancing human rights, social and economic justice.
At my current field placement, I have been able to gain a deeper understanding of mental illness
regarding social, economic, and environmental justice. Many of the clients who visit the agency are
residents of Newark, NJ. Newark is home to the "largest garbage incinerators, one of the most
contaminated sites (Agent Orange Dioxin Factory), active and abandoned industrial facilities, close
flight paths, and active
