Does putting restrictions on a country end a war or setup the start for another war. After World War
One the United States and the Allied powers created the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of
Versailles set up new nations and borders between the Allied powers and Central powers. The treaty
also contained a war guilt clause which would hold Germany solely responsible for starting World
War One. Germany was one of the reasons that WWI started but the only reason. Since Germany
had to take the responsibility for the war, they were faced with a crushing major debt. The Germans
were at an all time low. This debt and unemployment cause civil unrest in Germany; ... Show more

President Wilson 's Fourteen Points became the basis for a peace program, suggesting that a League
of Nations should be established to guarantee the political and territorial independence of countries.
(Fighting in WW1 ceased when the armistice went into effect on November 11, 1918. The 14 Points
essentially established the conditions for the Armistice that brought an end to World War.
The Fourteen points system was more fair to Germany. The Fourteen point system was rejected by
the Allied powers, but it set up parts in the Treaty of Versailles )(The Treaty of Versailles and the

point of the treaty was self determination . The Allies disagreed over the amount. Some wanted
Germany to be punished harshly, in order to cripple their ability to fight another war any time soon.
Others wanted milder treatment, that would leave the German economy intact as a potential trade
partner. France especially wanted Germany to be harshly punished. The United States saw Germany
as potential customer. ( The Germans did try to defend themselves . Germany had committed errors,

Moving To Another Country Analysis
Journal #7
Moving to another country or even visiting a place from a different culture is full of challenges. If
when I moved from Brazil to United States I had to get used to the different wheatear, language,
food I had to learn driving and observing about the differences on the way that Americans drive.
First of all, in Brazil we have one Transit Law for the whole country different from United States
that each State has your own rules. Here, if we change from one state to another we need to do the
Written Tests again due to this. I was living in Colorado and when I moved to California I had to do
again. The rules aren't so different but I noticed that depending on which part of the country we are,
the traffic signs can change.
One big difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is rare in Brazil. We still have a great number of stick shift cars. When I moved to United States I
had to learn how to drive the cars here. The second time that I drove I got it. But it is hard for some
people that spent the whole life driving stick shift car. My mom come to visit me and she got all
confuse because of the pedals, that she is used to have three.
I had a car accident in the beginning of the year. I hit the back of a car that was stopped at the traffic
light and I didn't stop in time. Wasn't a huge accident but I think the biggest fire truck of the city was
sent to do the incident. I think the rescue in accidents here comes faster and even that I think was
exaggerated a fire truck– in Brazil probably a police car was enough– is a good thing about here.
The laws here, if catch driving after drink, are more rigid. I know that in all the places has
corruption and people that it is going to get out clean if caught on drunk, but here I feel that people

In The End Of Another Country By James Baldwin
In the end of Another Country by James Baldwin, one can now understand the reason to his colorful
way of writing. It served more than just the purpose of telling the story, it left a message. Baldwin
illuminates how Another Country, the word itself, had multiple meanings for many characters in the
book. He also went at how around the 1950s–60s, there was sort of a caste system and much did it
matter what race or social status one stands upon. In the end, Baldwin shows readers how moments
of elevation or pleasure aren't going to last a lifetime, it's a temporary thing. In the last book for
Another Country, a series of symbols were repeatedly thrown at readers. Yves is flying for the first
time from France to New York. The panic, the anxiety to meet new grounds, encounter american
people, and language all fills Yves with tension and makes him nervous. The idea that calms him
down is knowing that his love, Eric, awaits him on the other side. Baldwin writes, " He had burned
his way to the outer edge of drunkenness and weariness, into diamond–hard sobriety (Baldwin,
433)". Yves getting closer to America land makes him feel as if it isn't a thought anymore. He is

the housewife, traveling alone, who had been, during their passage, a rather flirtatious girl, became a
housewife once again (Baldwin, 433). Yves is the social man who is on the plane coming from
France for a better work opportunity. Once he arrives in America he is a nobody. The fact that he is
gay adds on to the oppression he'll face. What one is, IS. What comes up must come down. Being on
the plane related much to being on drugs. Yves was high, much how Ida and Vivaldo, Cass and
Richard, etc try alcohol and drugs to feel better. Once you are off the drug nothing can help unless

Kevin Powers And In Another Country Comparison
In "In Another Country" and the interview with Iraq war veteran, Kevin Powers, there are many
comparisons and contrasts. From the way deal with loss from the war, fitting in when they return,
and how and what kind of help they get. Some differences are, anxiety with returning home and the
wounds they may suffer from. A big comparison of both "In Another Country" and the interview
with Kevin, is that they both felt a feeling of not being able to fit in. The narrator in the short story
felt as if he were below the other soldiers, even though they had the same medals, because they had
actually made accomplishments to get their medals while he only got them because he was an
American. Kevin felt like he didn't fit when he returned home because

The Difficulties of Moving to A Different Country and...
The difficulty of moving to a new culture is that a lot of people would feel fear because they are so
use to their own culture, so now they leave what they are used to a new way and it will be hard for
them to adapt. Some may like the new food and the pace of life, then later on in the month's people
may feel like the new life and culture is unpleasant life for instance: public hygiene, the language
barriers, traffic safety, and food accessibility. Still the most part in relocating to a different culture is
the communication because they might not understand the language or might say the wrong word
thinking it means the same in the other countries. People adjusting to a new culture often feel lonely

Feeling lonely, hopeless or overwhelmed at such an enormous life change, to the point where it
becomes too much and they develop a mental illness. Finding a new job in a new culture is rather a
hard than easy because a person can feel that the boss or manager may not like them due to their
culture or there way of life that has to do with religion or the way they speak. Whenever you do get
a job in a culture or country is mindful of all the things you should do and shouldn't do because they
can only help you cope with the decision on relocating and helping your family. While at the

Once you have relocated to a different culture then the one you are used to look for the rules and

Also the main reason why to relocate to a different culture is that the children will be open–minded

Tone Of In Another Country Hemingway
While the name of the story is "In Another Country" and narrated by Hemingway, the protagonist
(narrator) of the story describes his experience through World War I. The story takes place in Milan,
Italy. The narrator's tone of the story is a bit optimistic and the setting of the story is a bit
comforting. Throughout the story there are conflicts from where the narrator finds out about his
wounded soldier and his friend will have a hard time going though recovery following some therapy.
At the beginning of the story the narrator begins with telling the readers about his corresponding
wounded soldiers are going out to war. The first part of the story the narrator tells us about the war
and setting and observations and how it feels to be part of the war. In the story the narrator tells us
"The hospital was very old and very beautiful, and you enter through a gate and walked across a
courtyard and out a gate on the other side." (Page 250) The narrator says this because at the time it
was fall and it was cold so in the afternoon the soldiers head to the hospital to keep warm and
protection. So in the first half of the story the narrator is explain how life was for the war and how
they lived. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story it uses Irony saying "There was a time when none of us believed in the machines, and
one day the major said it was all non–sense." (Page 253) and "The machines that were to make so
much difference" The quotes compare to the story because in the story there is a photograph of the
man that was wounded and the men who are using the machines will be the first to use it and they
are very little confidence that the machines will work. The narrator says this because he thinks the
machines are unproductive. The major tells the narrator "You are a fortunate young man" meaning
that he will be recovered and back to playing football

Benefits Of Opening Up A Business In Another Country
Surprisingly, there are many advantages and benefits in opening a company in another country. In
many locations items are in high demand, but the customers cannot get them due to location. When
expanding your location the possibility of getting these good and selling them will be high. Not only
will there be a profit being made, but there could be jobs added to the new location and help the
people there out financially as well as your own company (Joseph, 2017). Additionally, people like
to see new businesses come to their town because it brings customers and customers have money
that builds up their community. Also, another benefit would be a tax break if the country you are

If there was talk regarding moving headquarters there would be many factors to explore before any
decisions are made. Nothing should be done to hastily to ensure everyone and everything is in the
right order. Moving a business is not a simple overnight task, it takes time, thought, and a lot of
research to get things completed correctly. Everyone would want to start out on a good note and be
in regulations with the new location. This includes rules, laws, and codes.
When the work force meets the new markets it will then need a building up to date and able to
handle the new business. You should ask yourself is their pre–existing equipment and will it handle
my new business or will it need to be upgraded. No one wants to buy new equipment up front unless
absolutely necessary. This would be a huge cost and could potentially set the company back if new
equipment is needed. If someone had to come in and repair all the equipment this would be an
additional cost and could potentially set the company back on their budget (Jarratt, Lewis, Thomas,
Huntington, &, 2017). So, finding a good location with a building to handle all the businesses needs
with properly working equipment would be the best thing to do. However, sometimes there will
have to be compromises.
The first thing that should be considered or completed before moving a business overseas would be
to make a business plan.

Character Development In James Baldwin's Another Country
Character Development in Another Country In James Baldwin's greatest success, three parts of the
book make up one story of the life and death of a young man. Being a homosexual, African
American jazz drummer, he struggles to find the right path to take him to happiness and sanctuary.
The complex characters within the novel struggle to love in the middle of a time of racism, sexism,
and homophobia. The character who is seen struggling the most with this is the protagonist, Rufus
Scott from Harlem, New York. After a series of episodes and digression patterns, Rufus then finds
himself to the point of suicide, jumping off the George Washington Bridge, yet it is not the end of
the story. James Baldwin portrays Rufus Scott as a heroic figure because his suicide, itself, leads to
justice in his community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"At the center of Baldwin's new political emphasis is his brief but powerful characterization of
Rufus Scott, who dies in the first fifth of the novel but remains present in the thoughts of the other
characters..." said by David Van Leer, an award–winning teacher and innovative scholar. As seen in
the quote, Rufus obviously impacts the lives of the other characters. It is seen in that Vivaldo and
Ida become closer, leading to a physical relationship. Growing into a socially rejected, interracial
relationship, they construct a strong couple and fight the rejection off. Eric becomes stronger as a
person when he realizes that Rufus is no longer there for him. Rufus puts him through so much and
Eric builds off of it to help him in the after math of Rufus' death. Rufus was basically all of their
heroes; he brought people together and made people

Explain Why Some Countries Should Have The Right To Seek...
Anyone who is subject to violence and persecution should have the right to seek protection in
another country. Many Rohingya have fled their homes due to religious conflicts in Myanmar by the
Buddhists militants, terrorizing, burning and bulldozing the homes of the Muslim minority. These
Rohingya have migrated to Thailand, Malaysia but mostly Bangladesh to seek protection in a new
country. This migration in the nation state has its positive effects as the people in danger have the
chance to escape and start their own life somewhere else, away from burning villages and ignited
homes. They get the opportunity to find a safe new neighborhood and look for work elsewhere.
Although the negatives do out way the positives, leaving a significant number of growing refugees
in the world especially off the coast of Indonesia. These refugees are being kept in overcrowding
refugee camps that are causing an issue that is affecting more than just people disturbed in the
Rohingya crisis. Everyday there are crowds of homeless people swamping countries with no place

Patliness And Death In Funeral Blues, By WH Auden
Funeral Blues, by WH Auden, is a poem in which the poet gives an account of his loved one who
has died. He expresses feelings of sadness, loneliness, and blankness, we get to know that because
of the techniques used by him. One of his phrases that show these feelings is "Let aeroplanes circle
moaning overhead, Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead." Here he wants to show that the
terrible loss of his loved one meant a lot to him. He wants everyone to feel the way he does, that is
sad. That is the reason he wants the aeroplanes to scribble the message "He is Dead" in the sky. He
wants that everyone in this world should grieve because his loved one is dead. He says "He" a word
mostly used for God, for his loved one because the person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

And to indicate that he uses a mass of figurative language. He uses metaphors such as "My working
week and my Sunday rest" here the poet is comparing his lover with his working week, that is all the
seven days in a week. In short he wants to illustrate that the person who has died was everything for
him. A second effective metaphor is "dismantle the sun" where he uses the word dismantle, which is
mainly used for machines or a structure. The poet here compares the sun to a machine that is to be
dismantled. The poet sees the sun as a light giving machine. Infact he doesn't want any brightness
and therefore he wants to dismantle the sun. He also uses hyperbole when he say "Pour away the
ocean". It is a hyperbole because pouring away the vast ocean cannot be done by anyone, it is
impossible to do so. It is obvious that the poet is exaggerating. He mentions this so as to express that
as the fishes can't live without water even he cannot live without his lover. In short he wants the
nature to express the blankness in

Different Forms Of Love In James Baldwin's Another Country
The concept of love is often a misunderstood term; Webster's Dictionary defines it as "a strong
affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties" but what that vague explanation doesn't
reveal are the beautiful, messy, destructive, complicated elements that align with the word. It is a
term that is entirely complex, yet to those who have not experienced it, it is merely the dry definition
that breeds simplicity. James Baldwin displays a vivid image of the intricate word in his novel
"Another Country" which tells the stories of artists, mainly in New York, struggling to love and be
loved amid the complexities of racism, sexism, and homophobia. It is about love, and the many
different forms that it takes––– romantic love, self love, and even platonic love; it also shows how
society impacts that love. In "Another Country" Baldwin poses a troubling question: How do
different forms of oppression affect one's ability to love? Throughout the novel, Baldwin displays
multiple forms of oppression from racism to homophobia and sexism. He beautifully exhibits the
struggles of love within diverse relationships through a few characters. The Norton Introduction to
Literature describes a winning work of literature as "an experience... that engages our emotions, our
imagination, and all of our senses, as well as our intellects"; Baldwin's "Another Country" most
definitely falls into the category of works of artistic value. The author expresses experiences of

Five Things to Know About Moving Your Belongings to Another Country
If you are moving from the United States to a foreign country with your family, there are several
things you need to know about the process. You may have moved before, but leaving the country
you reside in to live in another nation is a big move. The following are a few things you need to
consider in advance.
Choose your movers carefully
Anyone can claim to be an international moving company, but there are different rules for customs
when shipping to other countries. No two countries are exactly the same. For this reason, you need
to make sure that a mover not only has a lot of experience moving personal goods to other nations,
but they also have experience with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using international movers with experience shipping to your new country solves this problem.
Use a company that offers packing services
It is usually a good idea to use a packing service when moving across the country, but you should
consider it mandatory when shipping to a foreign country. A packing service, especially one that is
provided by the moving company, will know exactly the best way to pack every type of item you are
shipping. They will know exactly how your stuff will be shipping every mile of the trip, and they
will even know the best way to secure your items from damage. They will also know the proper way
to pack items for the customs inspection, so there is little chance of a problem when the shipment
enters the nation of your new home.
What delivery service do they offer?
With a long distance move in the United States, door–to–door service is common. The movers will
pick up your goods, load them on the truck and drive to your new address. Once at your new home,
they will then unload everything and place it in your house. Although this is often an option with an
international mover, it may not be available for every country, so you need to inquire about it. In
addition, some movers may not offer a door–to–door service at all. If this is the case, it may be a
service that is from your house to the port of the foreign country. Often called

Comparing Love in Go Tell It on the Mountain, Giovanni's...
Baldwin's first three novels –Go Tell It on the Mountain, Giovanni's Room, and Another Country–
boil over with anger, prejudice, and hatred, yet the primary force his characters must contend with is
love. Not meek or mawkish but "...something active, more like fire, like the wind" (qtd. in O'Neale
126), Baldwin's notion of love can conquer the horrors of society and pave the way to "emotional
security" (Kinnamon 5). His recipe calls for a determined identity, a confrontation with and
acceptance of reality, and finally, an open, committed relationship. Though Baldwin's characters
desperately need love, they fail to meet these individual requirements, and the seeds of love they
sow never take root and grow to fruition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baldwin points to his high–school writing as "an act of love. It was an attempt–not to get the world's
attention–it was an attempt to be loved. It seemed a way to save myself and a way to save my
family. It came out of despair" (qtd. in Kinnamon 3). Baldwin believes in the redemptive power of
love, the power to "save." But first must come "despair." All of Baldwin's characters suffer
tremendously, for they live in modern society. Few love. Since suffering is universal but a love
fulfilled is not, suffering alone does not allow one to love, "...but if dealt with courageously...can
lead to self–knowledge, self–acceptance, and the forging of a genuine self–identity" (Nelson 122).
With no internal conflicts, one can open up to another person, and love can flower.
This process, however, is rarely completed. In Another Country a vivid portrait of the universal need
for love is suggested by Rufus's interpretation of a saxophonist's improvisation. Rufus plays in a
jazz combo with a young saxophonist who already "...had received the blow from which he never
would recover" (9):
...[S]omewhere along the line he had discovered that he could say it with a saxophone. He had a lot
to say. He stood there, wide–legged, humping the air, filling his barrel chest, shivering in the rags of
his twenty–odd years, and screaming through the horn Do you love me? Do you

essayist, playwright, and novelist with many popular writings. He is an iconic African American for
his writings during the Civil Rights era in the United States focusing on racial and social issues. In

masculine power when he has sexual encounters with white people due to the Civil Right era where
as a black man he has no power. His friends and sister throughout the book feel guilty and try to

What Is The Theme Of In Another Country By Ernest Hemingway
From July 28th, 1914 to November 11th, 1918 World War One, also known as "The Great War," was
fought. Over 19.7 million soldiers were injured. The youngest person to join the war was a 12–year–
old British boy. Both In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway and Told by the Schoolmaster by
John Galsworthy have to do with World War One. In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway is
about wounded soldiers receiving a type of physical therapy, the narrator describes how he does not
think of himself as a "Hunting–Hawk" like he thinks of the other soldiers. The narrator tells the
Major that once the war is over, he will travel to the United States to marry; the Major tells him not
to, it is later revealed that the Major's wife recently died. However, in Told by the Schoolmaster by
John Galsworthy a boy, named Joe, falsifies his age, both to join the army and to marry a woman,
named Betty. Later, it is discovered that Betty is pregnant and Joe comes back; it is also found out
the he has deserted the war; he is then brought back and shot by his own side for deserting. Both

The short story "In Another Country" by Ernest Hemingway is a short story about an American
soldier who is wounded in World War I. The character goes to a hospital for rehabilitation and meets
other wounded soldiers. The mood of the story is one of despair. Setting, elements of futility in the
plot, and isolation of the characters all contribute to the grim mood. The first device Hemingway
uses to produce the mood of despair is the setting. The bleak setting suggests a grim mood.
Elements of futility in the plot also emphasize the mood of despair. Hopeless elements in the plot
depict the grim mood. Most importantly, the isolation of the characters contributes to the mood of

Literary Effects Of Romanticism In In Another Country By...
Literary Effects of World War I World War I was a disastrous event not only in the period of world
history, But also for the literary world. War poets started a cascade of literature to unmask the effects
and behavior from the intense brutality of the war that extended throughout the time of combat and
beyond. World War I was a period of chance for the United Stated to become a fully modern nation.
This armed conflict influenced many writers to embrace a style of realism instead of the basic
romanticism of literature prior to the warfare. World War I affected American writers in many
different ways, especially those that actually experienced this strife. In his short story "In Another

death, and horrible suffers that has been with all man's life. In the short story "In Another Country",
Ernest Hemingway shows us the physical and emotional tolls of the war as well as its long–term
consequences on man's life. He also portrays the damaging effects that the war has on the lives of
the Italians and even of the Americans. What has been existed in life after the war? Nobody knows
"how it was going to be afterward." Man's life will be totally changed. They will be unable to come
back with their natural and normal life. They seem lost everything; their families, their hobbies, their
lives, and they'll has nothing from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Said by the major "A man must not marry", "He cannot marry, he cannot marry", "If he is to lose
everything, he should not place himself in a position to lose that." The simplest thing becomes so
difficult to the soldiers in post–war. It is very hard for them to come back with their normal lives as
everything has been changed because of the war. Tolls of the war and its consequences that have on
every aspect of life of man are really giant. Being unbelievable in the rejuvenated machine of
soldiers, Hemingway shows his readers that nothing can compensate for what the man lost in the
war as well as nothing can cure this different kind of injury of these soldiers. How can the major get
his wife back to life and how the boy getting back to his normal life with the face without nose? In
the war, the soldiers left not only a part of their body but also left all their emotion that seems be
died afterward. In the story "In Another Country", Hemingway uses the symbolic of dead animals as
an accusation of what the war caused as if a comparison between the soldiers' lives with the animal.
They are soldiers. Their place must be in the battlefield and the pride of the soldiers is to sacrifice
for the people, the country but they cannot do it any more, they seem useless and their lives also
seem to be closed from now on. The war also makes people become another ones. . A lawyer, who is

Imperialism is the practice of a country taking over, or colonizing other parts of the world and while
doing so, increasing their own country's power. They help other countries with trade, sometimes
improving that country's economy. They also may help poorer countries by influencing the way they
live. Imperialism is the practice of establishing financial or political dominance over another

Moving to Another Country
Tradition is existing knowledge. A tradition is a group of related ideas that have lasted for a long
time. In some cases people have spent that time trying to improve the ideas. We'll call that a
dynamic tradition because it changes over time. In other cases, the focus has been on keeping the
tradition exactly the same over time. We'll call that a static tradition because it does not change.
Although these approaches are contradictory, some traditions are mixed. Dynamic traditions are
important because they contain some of our best knowledge. Today, they contain only the best ideas
any participants have thought of in the whole history of the tradition. I don't mean they are perfect,
but if they missed a good idea, it was despite people's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we find something wrong with a tradition, if at all possible we should improve the tradition,
not abandon it. We should seek a way to modify the tradition but also retain existing knowledge. To
keep the most existing knowledge, our change should be as small as possible to solve the problem.
If we were to start over from scratch, we may avoid the flaw we found, but we're not perfect and our
new ideas will contain other flaws. And new ideas won't have the benefit of decades or centuries of
people trying to find and correct flaws. We should consequently be respectful of tradition even as we
find errors in it, and try to improve it with new ideas of our own. Static traditions are different.
Although they've been around a long time, no one has been trying to find mistakes in them, so they
aren't very useful. Nor are they innocuous. Consider: why does the static tradition still exist? Why
didn't it disappear after its original advocates died? With a dynamic tradition, it's passed on to the
next generation because people find it useful, and teach it. A static tradition, too, must have some
mechanism for being passed on. But it can't be that people voluntarily learn it due to its usefulness.
Because it never changes, and never corrects errors, it's not very useful. Instead, people must in
some way be tricked or fooled into it, or indoctrinated, or forced, or brainwashed. Often they are
pressured, and made to feel bad, sinful or guilty if they do not

My Life As An Immigrant From Another Country
As an immigrant from another country, I personally would agree with the fact that there are two
sides of me. Spending half of my life in the Philippines and the other half in the United States, my
family, home, and community in both of these countries has shaped my life equally. These two
different environments definitely clash at times, but they also share many similarities. Very early in
my life, my parents had to work overseas in Saudi Arabia and left me and my sister in the
Philippines with my grandmother, aunt and uncle, and their children. For this reason, I did not have
a normal relationship with my parents for the first half of my life. It's not that they never visited or
not love me, but it was difficult for my 3 or 4–year–old self

In his essay, "God . . . Would Destroy Them, and Give Their Country to Another People", Alfred W.
Crosby points out the effects of disease on Indians, and the spiritual connections Pilgrims and Indian
assigned to it, while also exploring their relationship. He succeeds well in proving his point
throughout the essay. The title of the essay is a part of dialogue by one of the captives captured from
a French ship wreck by the Indians, who says, "God was angry with them for their wickedness, and
would destroy them, and give their country to another people, that should not live as beasts as they
did but should be clothed. ..." After giving some glimpse about the subject matter of the article
through some rude exchanges between that particular captive and his captors, the author explores
the disease which caused so many Indians to perish without immunity power against it unlike the
Pilgrims, and later shares the insight into the effects disease had on Indians and the Pilgrims

relationship between Indians and Pilgrims in harmonious way too. Disease played a big hand in the
survival of the Pilgrims, as they could not have flourished without the countless deaths of Indians
caused by it, who would have been capable enough to destroy the Pilgrims and limit their growth if
not for the disease. Author writes about the relationship between Wampanoags and the Pilgrims to

In Another Country Analysis
In" In Another Country" Nick Adams is a teenager that performs a clear act of heroism, but is
disappointed by his result. He put his life in danger to go warn Ole Andreson that the killers are in
town looking to murder him after the killer left the diner. Nick reacted as a man, not a boy, and
shows that he is more courageous than both Sam and George, the diner's manager, because he is the
only one who will risk his life to save Andreson's. When Nick decides to warn Anderson, Sam
ironically says "Little boys always know what they want to do." Given that Sam's perspective on the
matter is that Nick should stay out of the Anderson dilemma for his own safety, he likely means that
Nick's decision is like that of a little boy because it is foolish, not because it is not courageous.Nick
volunteers, at the risk of his own life, to go to Andreson's boarding–house and warn him of the
killers' presence. Andreson is unsurprised and resigned to his fate, and Nick returns to the diner
depressed at the contemplation of Andreson's impending death. His action of courage shows an act
of heroism and courage, but when his efforts failed to change the situation, he made him feel
depressed and down.He was a hero even though his action doesn't change anything.
In "In Another Country," the nature of courage is one of the central themes The nature of courage is
one of the central themes of "In Another Country." The American officer is afraid of dying and lies
awake wondering how he will behave when he goes back to the front. His fear is contrasted with the
bravery of the three young Italians who earned their medals: "The three with the medals were like
hunting–hawks; and I was not a hawk." The bravery of the three "hunting–hawks," however, is also
contrasted with the courage of the major, who is not a hunting–hawk. The American does not
understand the major, but he does recognize that he "had been a great fencer" and that he does not
"believe in bravery." The major's self–discipline and courage prompt him to befriend the young
American. He insists that the American learn to speak Italian grammatically. The major's concern
about speaking Italian grammatically illustrates the importance he gives to "form," to living in terms

relationship the american has with the 5 italians and the major. The lies that are told by the doctor to

hopes he will get better and be able to fence again but has no faith in the machines and the lies the
doctor tells him and the pictures of the hands certainly don't help. The major asks the doctor if he

Compare And Contrast In Another Country And Ambush
In both "In Another Country" by Ernest Hemingway and "Ambush" by Tim O'Brien, there are
aspects that are similar. To get a clear aspect of what both texts look at, Hemingway writes about a
short story that is based on the impacts of World War I on soldiers. The short story mainly focuses
on how these particular soldiers experienced the traumatic event of having to participate in the war
which was both psychologically and physically harmful to them. In "Ambush" O'Brien narrates
from a first person perspective of his account when he was a soldier, the story is based on his last
war story that aims at telling her daughter the truth when she gets older. The two texts have a
number of similarities and contrasts as well. In terms of the similarities, ... Show more content on

The theme is similar to the one presented by Hemmingway because of the notion or concept used to
develop it. War is a common factor in both texts, seeing that in the text by Hemmingway, war is the
central theme while in "Ambush," it has been used to develop the main theme of the text. O'Brien's
regret is from throwing the grenade and having to kill all those people he killed. The regret is from
killing the soldiers and all he wished for was that the soldiers had just walked away past him, that
way he wouldn't have had to throw the grenade. In developing the theme, O'Brien uses visions to
show the regret and also to contemplate on what would have happened if things were to happen
differently. The two stories were both similar in their story line which was about war. However, the
main themes in both stories differ. While one explores World War 1 and the effects it had on the
soldiers who played a part in it, the other explores the resentment one ex–soldier has for killing a

Bravery In Flannery O Connor's In Another Country
One of the main themes in the short story In Another Country is that bravery is not the same thing as
courage. While bravery is the ability to ignore fear (or not to be afraid) in dangerous situations,
courage concerns inner strength, endurance, and acceptance of things that cannot change. This
difference is exemplified clearly in In Another Country; while the three soldiers from Milan are
brave, the major is courageous. The author uses symbolism to create this distinction and emphasizes
it using similes and the characterization of the major. In In Another Country, the three soldiers from
Milan, the narrator, and the major have earned medals from their accomplishments at the front.
These medals symbolize bravery, and the way the characters view and behave towards their medals
show each character's nature and priorities. The three soldiers from Milan take great pride in their
medals and the things they did to earn them; they display their medals and brag about them, and it
seems as if their senses of self–worth come from the validation that the medals ... Show more

Hunting hawks are trained specifically to kill prey and not to show fear in dangerous circumstances.
Like the hunting hawks, the three soldiers enter perilous situations without knowledge or
consideration of the consequences; this reinforces the idea that the soldiers are brave. However, the
narrator goes on to say that he "is not a hawk, although I might seem like a hawk to those who have
never hunted; they, the three, knew better so we drifted apart". The three soldiers clearly feel cool
and unfriendly towards the narrator when they discover that the primary reason he earned his medals
is because he is American. This shows that although the three soldiers are brave, they are not
courageous; they are not able to look past their own heroic actions to accept others who aren't like

In Another Country Essay
The short story "in another country" is about patriotism, a term which rudimentarily means: deep
love to one's own country. It is, however, just a part of a greater concept, love, which manifests
itself, throughout the story, in different forms; love to a friend, love to a spouse and even to one's
own country. When we are first exposed to the story, with the vivid imaginary of the weather, we
feel how cold it is, and how warm are the `roasted chestnuts' that we actually desire some.
Moreover, it is very delightful to share the experience of the speaker when `the electric lights came
on, and it was pleasant along the streets looking in the windows'. To ponder over the captioned

In the case of the speaker, the medals he has been awarded have nothing to do patriotism because
`[he] had been given the medals because [he] was [merely] an American.' This is why he and his
fellow–soldiers were `drifted apart' – they know that such medals should have only been given to
those who sacrifice themselves in order to save their own country, not because they are merely from
another one, thus they will not have any passion toward the country they are put in to fight in spite
the fact that they may be placed in the front lines and, accordingly, fight gallantly. The `boy who had
been wounded his first day at the front' is still in good terms with the speaker since the latter likes
him because `perhaps he would not have turned out to be a hawk either [like me]' – this implies that
the speaker does not want to bother himself fighting for another country and since the boy, as he
thinks, resembles him, he keeps his relationship with him. While using the medical

Rhetorical Devices In Another Country Hemingway
In the excerpt from "In Another Country", Ernest Hemingway skillfully pulls the reader's mind into
the world of fall in Milan. Hemingway offers many rhetorical devices to his audiences, adapting
each one's mind too one of an Italian in this time and season. The author presents devices such as
imagery, diction, and pathos. Hemingway's most effective form of rhetoric can be found in his
inclusion of diction. He begins his writing by narrating "In the fall the war was always there," The
bold choice of the word "always" about the war forces an image of battle, violence, and poverty into
the mid of the reader. Incorporating this assertive word lets the reader do nothing but agree with his

describes "you crossed a bridge across a canal to enter this hospital," "the chestnuts were warm
afterward in your pocket," "you entered through a grate and walked across," Hemingway creates this
sense of realism and actuality for the reader, causing them to feel like they are part of the story. He
succeeds in doing so by tapping into the audience's emotions. Describing "warmth in your pocket"
This results in an emotional connection with the reader. This personal writing and appealing to

Ernest Hemingway offers many rhetorical devices. He utilizes diction to emphasis and stress his
idea of wintry temperatures, beauty, warmth, and emptiness. Imagery is included to describe in
detail what is happening and help the reader envision the report of the author's story. Lastly, pathos
is added to appeal to the readers' emotions, helping them to truly become one of this fantasy,

Personal Narrative: Immigrating To Another Country
There will be times in our lives where we will step into a situation and not know what to do.
Immigrating to another country at a young age enabled me to sharpen my adaptation skills that
helped me face various environments and situations.
Until I was 7, I have lived with my parents and 6 older siblings in the Philippines. My community
was very close as we would gather around during holidays or mourn together. Due to this,
immigrating to America was a culture shock as there weren't many Filipinos and people spoke in
different languages. Hispanics dominated my community so there was a slight pressure to
assimilate. I remember my aunt telling my parents "We don't do that here." and it made realize the
importance of adapting. I had followed my older cousins and had them show me around the
community. From this, I was able to learn English and American traditions. I further developed
adapting to my community by befriending neighborhood kids and participating in school activities.
Eventually, I became more comfortable in my environment as I gained friends from different
backgrounds, spoke English, and even learned some Spanish. ... Show more content on

Mood In Another Country Hemingway
Authors connect to their readers through a special written language by using different elements to
create a story. These elements they choose are to create a mood, a plot, and some thrill to their
fiction. Ernest Hemingway is an author that prefers to write stories based on personal experience of
his journalism in his literary style to bring out a sense of understanding to the reader with a
character. "In Another Country" Ernest Hemingway uses the elements of setting, tone, and mood to
convey a sense of loneliness that the soldiers' experience, with the setting and by painting a vivid
picture of the war effect on them and the world to the reader with the tone and mood. As
Hemingway opens his story, he sets a physical setting with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Furthermore, the tone is relevantly foreseen in the following: "but walking home at night through

knew I would never have done such things, and I was very much afraid to die, and often lay in bed
at night by myself, afraid to die and wondering how I would be when I went back to the front again"
(Hemingway252) With this particular word choice of "cold wind" and "shops closed" Hemingway
expresses isolation and a deep loneliness for the protagonist as the outsider of the war, although he
participated and was injured. Through descriptive language in the setting and diction in the tone, we
cannot forget about mood that always goes hand in hand with tone as the last technique, Hemingway

Sculptures at Crosby Beach
Whilst visiting Crosby beach in October 2013 there was evidence of the public altering the statues
appearance. Somebody had knitted around the ankle of one, and also placed a hard hat on the head.
The statues being placed at Crosby beach had created a large tourist attraction and we see how the
public introduce their own enjoyment to the art.
With the sculptures being constantly moved to different locations, they were granted permission to
be permanently positioned at Crosby beach in 2005, despite some objections. Certain people
believed that the figures were offensive and pornographic due to them being naked with genitalia on
show. They also believed that they were a safety hazard due to it being difficult to differ between a
human and a sculpture in low lighting. Also, reaching the figures close to the sea was shown as a
hazard due to the sinking mud; a problem which I had encountered myself! The sculptures being
made out of Cast iron is also relevant to them being positioned in Crosby beach. The cast iron links
to the Liverpool's industrial origin as a major port. The figures stand watching as many ships pass
each day, as they are reaching their new destination. The sculptures are possibly standing, waiting to
travel to 'Another place.' This point is strengthened by the fact that some of the sculptures are half
buried in the sand, giving the impression of the statues walking into the sea.

As We All Know When Traveling To Another Country It Is
As we all know when traveling to another country it is very difficult to communicate with someone,
especial if one does not speak the language at all. It would even more difficult in communicating

This brings me to the peer review cases that I read, in that they all mention the difficulties in
communicating with different cultures and how they overcame those obstacles. The obstacles in
dealing with time zone differences, having a culture understanding and motivating the group(s). It is

The one good outcome of knowing all the information up front and sharing it with others is that it
will build up trust within the group(s). Zaugg et al. (2015) stated, "In interviews, students indicated
that this sharing of upcoming cultural holidays and events became instrumental in building trust
among team members" (p. 90). Sharing information is a simple but useful tool to use in the
workplace if you need to start building trust with co–workers or managers with his or her
employees.
The other issue was in having group(s) commit and follow–through with projects, which meant that
an accountability needed to be established. Going back to the school project example, the way they
made those students be accountable for the project was to give students for–credit approaches. Some
schools made it a course requirement or registered the students in the course of the special projects
all of which were part of the curriculum already. The other approach was to give them non–credit,
which was less favorable with students and would not take the Global Virtual class serious. This
resulted in less of an effort by the non–credit students and reduced the trust among team members.
This proves a valuable point in dealing with virtual teams, in that all members of the team need a
true sense of accountability in order to work on the project or have a breakdown in trust just like the

Moving To Another Country Essay
Have you ever thought about moving your whole family to another country? If you did so, what are
the reasons to do that? We chose to move because in our country they have crisis, they are too poor,
they have worse education and a lot of reasons that we cannot tell. After moving to another country,
we might see a lot of differences between our old country and the new country. I and my family
moved from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Minnesota because we believe that I and my brother
will have better education, better chance for a bright future. Since we moved here, I have seen a lot
of differences between two of them and the most significant differences are the university life, the
size and the weather.
First is the university life. In Minnesota we can pick any subject that we feel interested in and have a
lot of activities to do with the university community. We also spend less time at school and more
time at home for homework, chores and family responsibilities. In Minnesota, the college and
university help us a lot preparing for our future, and the tuition fees are paid thanks to the Financial
Aid for citizens. But Ho Chi Minh City on the contrary, there, we do not have choices for our
subjects, we have to pick our major as soon as we roll up for an university or a college and then we
have to study the subjects they gave us without any choice. In Ho Chi Minh City, we also have to

In order to successfully introduce a product into a foreign market it is important to know the culture
of the country you plan to do business in. In order to introduce mobile handsets into a market like
Venezuela, the supplier must be well acclimated with the purchasing habits, tastes, and willingness
to purchase the product that is being sold. Understanding these things starts with building a
knowledge base about the major aspects of the culture and your target consumer. With this being

This is very intriguing for a society that has a high unemployment rate. Most of Venezuela's
population finds itself educated because public education is provided. Even though education is free,
there is an astounding 20 % of the population that has received no formal education at all. This is
outrageous because Venezuela has a compulsory educational system, which means that people are
required to by law to go to attend school for 9 years. This shows that even though education is
provided for free there are still families so poverty stricken that they are not able to send their
children to school; because they need to work to provide more support for the families. The children
that do go through the public education system can attend Universities which are also free. Although
the education in Venezuela is provided for free, this is also a reason why the education system is not
the greatest. Providing education from grade school through college stretches educational funds thin,
which results in each level of education being under funded. It has already been established that the
majority of the people of Venezuela are literate. In this society there are jobs that require the certain

  • 1. How Restrictions On A Country End A War Or Setup The Start... Jacob Stofer Mr. Schulton January 31 2016 U.S History Research paper Does putting restrictions on a country end a war or setup the start for another war. After World War One the United States and the Allied powers created the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles set up new nations and borders between the Allied powers and Central powers. The treaty also contained a war guilt clause which would hold Germany solely responsible for starting World War One. Germany was one of the reasons that WWI started but the only reason. Since Germany had to take the responsibility for the war, they were faced with a crushing major debt. The Germans were at an all time low. This debt and unemployment cause civil unrest in Germany; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... President Wilson 's Fourteen Points became the basis for a peace program, suggesting that a League of Nations should be established to guarantee the political and territorial independence of countries. (Fighting in WW1 ceased when the armistice went into effect on November 11, 1918. The 14 Points essentially established the conditions for the Armistice that brought an end to World War. The Fourteen points system was more fair to Germany. The Fourteen point system was rejected by the Allied powers, but it set up parts in the Treaty of Versailles )(The Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations." Ushistory.org. The Allies disagreed over the amount. Some wanted Germany to be punished harshly, in order to cripple their ability to fight another war any time soon. Others wanted milder treatment, that would leave the German economy intact as a potential trade partner. France especially wanted Germany to be harshly punished. The United States saw Germany as potential customer. ( The Germans did try to defend themselves . Germany had committed errors, especially in Belgium, but no nation was innocent) Jeff Hay 27. • 3. Moving To Another Country Analysis Journal #7 Moving to another country or even visiting a place from a different culture is full of challenges. If when I moved from Brazil to United States I had to get used to the different wheatear, language, food I had to learn driving and observing about the differences on the way that Americans drive. First of all, in Brazil we have one Transit Law for the whole country different from United States that each State has your own rules. Here, if we change from one state to another we need to do the Written Tests again due to this. I was living in Colorado and when I moved to California I had to do again. The rules aren't so different but I noticed that depending on which part of the country we are, the traffic signs can change. One big difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is rare in Brazil. We still have a great number of stick shift cars. When I moved to United States I had to learn how to drive the cars here. The second time that I drove I got it. But it is hard for some people that spent the whole life driving stick shift car. My mom come to visit me and she got all confuse because of the pedals, that she is used to have three. I had a car accident in the beginning of the year. I hit the back of a car that was stopped at the traffic light and I didn't stop in time. Wasn't a huge accident but I think the biggest fire truck of the city was sent to do the incident. I think the rescue in accidents here comes faster and even that I think was exaggerated a fire truck– in Brazil probably a police car was enough– is a good thing about here. The laws here, if catch driving after drink, are more rigid. I know that in all the places has corruption and people that it is going to get out clean if caught on drunk, but here I feel that people are more afraid to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. In The End Of Another Country By James Baldwin In the end of Another Country by James Baldwin, one can now understand the reason to his colorful way of writing. It served more than just the purpose of telling the story, it left a message. Baldwin illuminates how Another Country, the word itself, had multiple meanings for many characters in the book. He also went at how around the 1950s–60s, there was sort of a caste system and much did it matter what race or social status one stands upon. In the end, Baldwin shows readers how moments of elevation or pleasure aren't going to last a lifetime, it's a temporary thing. In the last book for Another Country, a series of symbols were repeatedly thrown at readers. Yves is flying for the first time from France to New York. The panic, the anxiety to meet new grounds, encounter american people, and language all fills Yves with tension and makes him nervous. The idea that calms him down is knowing that his love, Eric, awaits him on the other side. Baldwin writes, " He had burned his way to the outer edge of drunkenness and weariness, into diamond–hard sobriety (Baldwin, 433)". Yves getting closer to America land makes him feel as if it isn't a thought anymore. He is arriving to a country that ... Yves is the social man who is on the plane coming from France for a better work opportunity. Once he arrives in America he is a nobody. The fact that he is gay adds on to the oppression he'll face. What one is, IS. What comes up must come down. Being on the plane related much to being on drugs. Yves was high, much how Ida and Vivaldo, Cass and Richard, etc try alcohol and drugs to feel better. Once you are off the drug nothing can help unless you get some more of ... • 7. Kevin Powers And In Another Country Comparison In "In Another Country" and the interview with Iraq war veteran, Kevin Powers, there are many comparisons and contrasts. From the way deal with loss from the war, fitting in when they return, and how and what kind of help they get. Some differences are, anxiety with returning home and the wounds they may suffer from. A big comparison of both "In Another Country" and the interview with Kevin, is that they both felt a feeling of not being able to fit in. The narrator in the short story felt as if he were below the other soldiers, even though they had the same medals, because they had actually made accomplishments to get their medals while he only got them because he was an American. • 9. The Difficulties of Moving to A Different Country and... The difficulty of moving to a new culture is that a lot of people would feel fear because they are so use to their own culture, so now they leave what they are used to a new way and it will be hard for them to adapt. Some may like the new food and the pace of life, then later on in the month's people may feel like the new life and culture is unpleasant life for instance: public hygiene, the language barriers, traffic safety, and food accessibility. Still the most part in relocating to a different culture is the communication because they might not understand the language or might say the wrong word thinking it means the same in the other countries. Tone Of In Another Country Hemingway While the name of the story is "In Another Country" and narrated by Hemingway, the protagonist (narrator) of the story describes his experience through World War I. The story takes place in Milan, Italy. The narrator's tone of the story is a bit optimistic and the setting of the story is a bit comforting. Throughout the story there are conflicts from where the narrator finds out about his wounded soldier and his friend will have a hard time going though recovery following some therapy. At the beginning of the story the narrator begins with telling the readers about his corresponding wounded soldiers are going out to war. The first part of the story the narrator tells us about the war and setting and observations and how it feels to be part of the war. In the story the narrator tells us "The hospital was very old and very beautiful, and you enter through a gate and walked across a courtyard and out a gate on the other side." (Page 250) The narrator says this because at the time it was fall and it was cold so in the afternoon the soldiers head to the hospital to keep warm and protection. In many locations items are in high demand, but the customers cannot get them due to location. When expanding your location the possibility of getting these good and selling them will be high. Not only will there be a profit being made, but there could be jobs added to the new location and help the people there out financially as well as your own company (Joseph, 2017). If there was talk regarding moving headquarters there would be many factors to explore before any decisions are made. Nothing should be done to hastily to ensure everyone and everything is in the right order. Moving a business is not a simple overnight task, it takes time, thought, and a lot of research to get things completed correctly. Everyone would want to start out on a good note and be in regulations with the new location. This includes rules, laws, and codes. When the work force meets the new markets it will then need a building up to date and able to handle the new business. You should ask yourself is their pre–existing equipment and will it handle my new business or will it need to be upgraded. No one wants to buy new equipment up front unless absolutely necessary. This would be a huge cost and could potentially set the company back if new equipment is needed. If someone had to come in and repair all the equipment this would be an additional cost and could potentially set the company back on their budget (Jarratt, Lewis, Thomas, Huntington, &, 2017). So, finding a good location with a building to handle all the businesses needs with properly working equipment would be the best thing to do. However, sometimes there will have to be compromises. The first thing that should be considered or completed before moving a business overseas would be to make a business plan. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Character Development In James Baldwin's Another Country Character Development in Another Country In James Baldwin's greatest success, three parts of the book make up one story of the life and death of a young man. Being a homosexual, African American jazz drummer, he struggles to find the right path to take him to happiness and sanctuary. The complex characters within the novel struggle to love in the middle of a time of racism, sexism, and homophobia. The character who is seen struggling the most with this is the protagonist, Rufus Scott from Harlem, New York. After a series of episodes and digression patterns, Rufus then finds himself to the point of suicide, jumping off the George Washington Bridge, yet it is not the end of the story. James Baldwin portrays Rufus Scott as a heroic figure because his suicide, itself, leads to justice in his community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "At the center of Baldwin's new political emphasis is his brief but powerful characterization of Rufus Scott, who dies in the first fifth of the novel but remains present in the thoughts of the other characters..." said by David Van Leer, an award–winning teacher and innovative scholar. As seen in the quote, Rufus obviously impacts the lives of the other characters. It is seen in that Vivaldo and Ida become closer, leading to a physical relationship. Many Rohingya have fled their homes due to religious conflicts in Myanmar by the Buddhists militants, terrorizing, burning and bulldozing the homes of the Muslim minority. These Rohingya have migrated to Thailand, Malaysia but mostly Bangladesh to seek protection in a new country. This migration in the nation state has its positive effects as the people in danger have the chance to escape and start their own life somewhere else, away from burning villages and ignited homes. They get the opportunity to find a safe new neighborhood and look for work elsewhere. • 23. Patliness And Death In Funeral Blues, By WH Auden Funeral Blues, by WH Auden, is a poem in which the poet gives an account of his loved one who has died. He expresses feelings of sadness, loneliness, and blankness, we get to know that because of the techniques used by him. One of his phrases that show these feelings is "Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead, Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead." Here he wants to show that the terrible loss of his loved one meant a lot to him. He wants everyone to feel the way he does, that is sad. That is the reason he wants the aeroplanes to scribble the message "He is Dead" in the sky. He wants that everyone in this world should grieve because his loved one is dead. A second effective metaphor is "dismantle the sun" where he uses the word dismantle, which is mainly used for machines or a structure. The poet here compares the sun to a machine that is to be dismantled. The poet sees the sun as a light giving machine. Infact he doesn't want any brightness and therefore he wants to dismantle the sun. He also uses hyperbole when he say "Pour away the ocean". It is a hyperbole because pouring away the vast ocean cannot be done by anyone, it is impossible to do so. It is obvious that the poet is exaggerating. • 25. Different Forms Of Love In James Baldwin's Another Country The concept of love is often a misunderstood term; Webster's Dictionary defines it as "a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties" but what that vague explanation doesn't reveal are the beautiful, messy, destructive, complicated elements that align with the word. It is a term that is entirely complex, yet to those who have not experienced it, it is merely the dry definition that breeds simplicity. James Baldwin displays a vivid image of the intricate word in his novel "Another Country" which tells the stories of artists, mainly in New York, struggling to love and be loved amid the complexities of racism, sexism, and homophobia. It is about love, and the many different forms that it takes––– romantic love, self love, and even platonic love; it also shows how society impacts that love. In "Another Country" Baldwin poses a troubling question: How do different forms of oppression affect one's ability to love? Throughout the novel, Baldwin displays multiple forms of oppression from racism to homophobia and sexism. He beautifully exhibits the struggles of love within diverse relationships through a few characters. The Norton Introduction to Literature describes a winning work of literature as "an experience... that engages our emotions, our imagination, and all of our senses, as well as our intellects"; Baldwin's "Another Country" most definitely falls into the category of works of artistic value. Moving To Another Country Essay Five Things to Know About Moving Your Belongings to Another Country If you are moving from the United States to a foreign country with your family, there are several things you need to know about the process. You may have moved before, but leaving the country you reside in to live in another nation is a big move. The following are a few things you need to consider in advance. Choose your movers carefully Anyone can claim to be an international moving company, but there are different rules for customs when shipping to other countries. No two countries are exactly the same. For this reason, you need to make sure that a mover not only has a lot of experience moving personal goods to other nations, but they also have experience with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using international movers with experience shipping to your new country solves this problem. Use a company that offers packing services It is usually a good idea to use a packing service when moving across the country, but you should consider it mandatory when shipping to a foreign country. A packing service, especially one that is provided by the moving company, will know exactly the best way to pack every type of item you are shipping. They will know exactly how your stuff will be shipping every mile of the trip, and they will even know the best way to secure your items from damage. They will also know the proper way to pack items for the customs inspection, so there is little chance of a problem when the shipment enters the nation of your new home. What delivery service do they offer? With a long distance move in the United States, door–to–door service is common. The movers will pick up your goods, load them on the truck and drive to your new address. Once at your new home, they will then unload everything and place it in your house. Although this is often an option with an international mover, it may not be available for every country, so you need to inquire about it. In addition, some movers may not offer a door–to–door service at all. If this is the case, it may be a service that is from your house to the port of the foreign country. Often called ... • 33. Comparing Love in Go Tell It on the Mountain, Giovanni's... Baldwin's first three novels –Go Tell It on the Mountain, Giovanni's Room, and Another Country– boil over with anger, prejudice, and hatred, yet the primary force his characters must contend with is love. Not meek or mawkish but "...something active, more like fire, like the wind" (qtd. in O'Neale 126), Baldwin's notion of love can conquer the horrors of society and pave the way to "emotional security" (Kinnamon 5). His recipe calls for a determined identity, a confrontation with and acceptance of reality, and finally, an open, committed relationship. Though Baldwin's characters desperately need love, they fail to meet these individual requirements, and the seeds of love they sow never take root and grow to fruition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baldwin points to his high–school writing as "an act of love. It was an attempt–not to get the world's attention–it was an attempt to be loved. It seemed a way to save myself and a way to save my family. It came out of despair" (qtd. in Kinnamon 3). Baldwin believes in the redemptive power of love, the power to "save." But first must come "despair." All of Baldwin's characters suffer tremendously, for they live in modern society. Few love. Since suffering is universal but a love fulfilled is not, suffering alone does not allow one to love, "...but if dealt with courageously...can lead to self–knowledge, self–acceptance, and the forging of a genuine self–identity" (Nelson 122). With no internal conflicts, one can open up to another person, and love can flower. This process, however, is rarely completed. In Another Country a vivid portrait of the universal need for love is suggested by Rufus's interpretation of a saxophonist's improvisation. Rufus plays in a jazz combo with a young saxophonist who already "...had received the blow from which he never would recover" (9): ...[S]omewhere along the line he had discovered that he could say it with a saxophone. In some cases people have spent that time trying to improve the ideas. We'll call that a dynamic tradition because it changes over time. In other cases, the focus has been on keeping the tradition exactly the same over time. We'll call that a static tradition because it does not change. Although these approaches are contradictory, some traditions are mixed. Dynamic traditions are important because they contain some of our best knowledge. When we find something wrong with a tradition, if at all possible we should improve the tradition, not abandon it. We should seek a way to modify the tradition but also retain existing knowledge. To keep the most existing knowledge, our change should be as small as possible to solve the problem. If we were to start over from scratch, we may avoid the flaw we found, but we're not perfect and our new ideas will contain other flaws. And new ideas won't have the benefit of decades or centuries of people trying to find and correct flaws. We should consequently be respectful of tradition even as we find errors in it, and try to improve it with new ideas of our own. Static traditions are different. Although they've been around a long time, no one has been trying to find mistakes in them, so they aren't very useful. Nor are they innocuous. Consider: why does the static tradition still exist? Why didn't it disappear after its original advocates died? With a dynamic tradition, it's passed on to the next generation because people find it useful, and teach it. A static tradition, too, must have some mechanism for being passed on. But it can't be that people voluntarily learn it due to its usefulness. He put his life in danger to go warn Ole Andreson that the killers are in town looking to murder him after the killer left the diner. Nick reacted as a man, not a boy, and shows that he is more courageous than both Sam and George, the diner's manager, because he is the only one who will risk his life to save Andreson's. When Nick decides to warn Anderson, Sam ironically says "Little boys always know what they want to do." Given that Sam's perspective on the matter is that Nick should stay out of the Anderson dilemma for his own safety, he likely means that Nick's decision is like that of a little boy because it is foolish, not because it is not courageous.Nick volunteers, at the risk of his own life, to go to Andreson's boarding–house and warn him of the killers' presence. Andreson is unsurprised and resigned to his fate, and Nick returns to the diner depressed at the contemplation of Andreson's impending death. While one explores World War 1 and the effects it had on the soldiers who played a part in it, the other explores the resentment one ex–soldier has for killing a soldier while at war and he wishes the circumstances were ... • 59. Bravery In Flannery O Connor's In Another Country One of the main themes in the short story In Another Country is that bravery is not the same thing as courage. While bravery is the ability to ignore fear (or not to be afraid) in dangerous situations, courage concerns inner strength, endurance, and acceptance of things that cannot change. This difference is exemplified clearly in In Another Country; while the three soldiers from Milan are brave, the major is courageous. The author uses symbolism to create this distinction and emphasizes it using similes and the characterization of the major. In In Another Country, the three soldiers from Milan, the narrator, and the major have earned medals from their accomplishments at the front. These medals symbolize bravery, and the way the characters view and behave towards their medals show each character's nature and priorities. The three soldiers from Milan take great pride in their medals and the things they did to earn them; they display their medals and brag about them, and it seems as if their senses of self–worth come from the validation that the medals ... Like the hunting hawks, the three soldiers enter perilous situations without knowledge or consideration of the consequences; this reinforces the idea that the soldiers are brave. However, the narrator goes on to say that he "is not a hawk, although I might seem like a hawk to those who have never hunted; they, the three, knew better so we drifted apart". The three soldiers clearly feel cool and unfriendly towards the narrator when they discover that the primary reason he earned his medals is because he is American. This shows that although the three soldiers are brave, they are not courageous; they are not able to look past their own heroic actions to accept others who aren't like ... • 61. In Another Country Essay The short story "in another country" is about patriotism, a term which rudimentarily means: deep love to one's own country. It is, however, just a part of a greater concept, love, which manifests itself, throughout the story, in different forms; love to a friend, love to a spouse and even to one's own country. When we are first exposed to the story, with the vivid imaginary of the weather, we feel how cold it is, and how warm are the `roasted chestnuts' that we actually desire some. Moreover, it is very delightful to share the experience of the speaker when `the electric lights came on, and it was pleasant along the streets looking in the windows'. To ponder over the captioned imaginary, we will discover that it refers to human life in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of the speaker, the medals he has been awarded have nothing to do patriotism because `[he] had been given the medals because [he] was [merely] an American.' This is why he and his fellow–soldiers were `drifted apart' – they know that such medals should have only been given to those who sacrifice themselves in order to save their own country, not because they are merely from another one, thus they will not have any passion toward the country they are put in to fight in spite the fact that they may be placed in the front lines and, accordingly, fight gallantly. The `boy who had been wounded his first day at the front' is still in good terms with the speaker since the latter likes him because `perhaps he would not have turned out to be a hawk either [like me]' – this implies that the speaker does not want to bother himself fighting for another country and since the boy, as he thinks, resembles him, he keeps his relationship with him. • 65. Personal Narrative: Immigrating To Another Country There will be times in our lives where we will step into a situation and not know what to do. Immigrating to another country at a young age enabled me to sharpen my adaptation skills that helped me face various environments and situations. Until I was 7, I have lived with my parents and 6 older siblings in the Philippines. My community was very close as we would gather around during holidays or mourn together. Due to this, immigrating to America was a culture shock as there weren't many Filipinos and people spoke in different languages. Hispanics dominated my community so there was a slight pressure to assimilate. I remember my aunt telling my parents "We don't do that here." and it made realize the importance of adapting. I had followed my older cousins and had them show me around the community. From this, I was able to learn English and American traditions. I further developed adapting to my community by befriending neighborhood kids and participating in school activities. Eventually, I became more comfortable in my environment as I gained friends from different backgrounds, spoke English, and even learned some Spanish. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 67. Mood In Another Country Hemingway Authors connect to their readers through a special written language by using different elements to create a story. These elements they choose are to create a mood, a plot, and some thrill to their fiction. Ernest Hemingway is an author that prefers to write stories based on personal experience of his journalism in his literary style to bring out a sense of understanding to the reader with a character. "In Another Country" Ernest Hemingway uses the elements of setting, tone, and mood to convey a sense of loneliness that the soldiers' experience, with the setting and by painting a vivid picture of the war effect on them and the world to the reader with the tone and mood. Through descriptive language in the setting and diction in the tone, we cannot forget about mood that always goes hand in hand with tone as the last technique, Hemingway connects the reader to his ... • 69. Sculptures at Crosby Beach Whilst visiting Crosby beach in October 2013 there was evidence of the public altering the statues appearance. Somebody had knitted around the ankle of one, and also placed a hard hat on the head. The statues being placed at Crosby beach had created a large tourist attraction and we see how the public introduce their own enjoyment to the art. With the sculptures being constantly moved to different locations, they were granted permission to be permanently positioned at Crosby beach in 2005, despite some objections. Certain people believed that the figures were offensive and pornographic due to them being naked with genitalia on show. They also believed that they were a safety hazard due to it being difficult to differ between a human and a sculpture in low lighting. Also, reaching the figures close to the sea was shown as a hazard due to the sinking mud; a problem which I had encountered myself! The sculptures being made out of Cast iron is also relevant to them being positioned in Crosby beach. The cast iron links to the Liverpool's industrial origin as a major port. The figures stand watching as many ships pass each day, as they are reaching their new destination. The sculptures are possibly standing, waiting to travel to 'Another place.' This point is strengthened by the fact that some of the sculptures are half buried in the sand, giving the impression of the statues walking into the sea. • 71. As We All Know When Traveling To Another Country It Is As we all know when traveling to another country it is very difficult to communicate with someone, especial if one does not speak the language at all. It would even more difficult in communicating with someone if the only medium of communication was by phone, text, email or webcam only. This brings me to the peer review cases that I read, in that they all mention the difficulties in communicating with different cultures and how they overcame those obstacles. The obstacles in dealing with time zone differences, having a culture understanding and motivating the group(s). It is very obvious that when communicating and working with people from very different cultures it hinders projects due dates and mistakes are made because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one good outcome of knowing all the information up front and sharing it with others is that it will build up trust within the group(s). Zaugg et al. (2015) stated, "In interviews, students indicated that this sharing of upcoming cultural holidays and events became instrumental in building trust among team members" (p. 90). Sharing information is a simple but useful tool to use in the workplace if you need to start building trust with co–workers or managers with his or her employees. The other issue was in having group(s) commit and follow–through with projects, which meant that an accountability needed to be established. Going back to the school project example, the way they made those students be accountable for the project was to give students for–credit approaches. Some schools made it a course requirement or registered the students in the course of the special projects all of which were part of the curriculum already. The other approach was to give them non–credit, which was less favorable with students and would not take the Global Virtual class serious. This resulted in less of an effort by the non–credit students and reduced the trust among team members. This proves a valuable point in dealing with virtual teams, in that all members of the team need a true sense of accountability in order to work on the project or have a breakdown in trust just like the students in ... • 73. Moving To Another Country Essay Have you ever thought about moving your whole family to another country? If you did so, what are the reasons to do that? We chose to move because in our country they have crisis, they are too poor, they have worse education and a lot of reasons that we cannot tell. After moving to another country, we might see a lot of differences between our old country and the new country. I and my family moved from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Minnesota because we believe that I and my brother will have better education, better chance for a bright future. Since we moved here, I have seen a lot of differences between two of them and the most significant differences are the university life, the size and the weather. First is the university life. In Minnesota we can pick any subject that we feel interested in and have a lot of activities to do with the university community. We also spend less time at school and more time at home for homework, chores and family responsibilities. In Minnesota, the college and university help us a lot preparing for our future, and the tuition fees are paid thanks to the Financial Aid for citizens. But Ho Chi Minh City on the contrary, there, we do not have choices for our subjects, we have to pick our major as soon as we roll up for an university or a college and then we have to study the subjects they gave us without any choice. In Ho Chi Minh City, we also have to spend a lot of time at school for almost entire day, five to six days a week and we only have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Doing Business in Another Country Executive Summary In order to successfully introduce a product into a foreign market it is important to know the culture of the country you plan to do business in. In order to introduce mobile handsets into a market like Venezuela, the supplier must be well acclimated with the purchasing habits, tastes, and willingness to purchase the product that is being sold. Understanding these things starts with building a knowledge base about the major aspects of the culture and your target consumer. With this being said I am providing a brief overview of the country of Venezuela. Venezuela boasts a population of well over 27 million, and represents a large potential market for any firm looking to do business within the country, because it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is very intriguing for a society that has a high unemployment rate. Most of Venezuela's population finds itself educated because public education is provided. Even though education is free, there is an astounding 20 % of the population that has received no formal education at all. This is outrageous because Venezuela has a compulsory educational system, which means that people are required to by law to go to attend school for 9 years. This shows that even though education is provided for free there are still families so poverty stricken that they are not able to send their children to school; because they need to work to provide more support for the families. The children that do go through the public education system can attend Universities which are also free. Although the education in Venezuela is provided for free, this is also a reason why the education system is not the greatest. Providing education from grade school through college stretches educational funds thin, which results in each level of education being under funded. It has already been established that the majority of the people of Venezuela are literate. In this society there are jobs that require the certain skills such as a lawyers, judges, politicians, or businessmen etc; but in the society as a whole basic skills are being seen as all that is required for the average person. As mentioned earlier Venezuela is a society that relies heavily on the production of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
