LED Essay
The development of LED started with the first Light Emitting Diode appears at early of twentieth
century. The first LED light was produced by touching the SiC crystal with metal electrodes so that
a rectifying Schottky contact was formed. In 1964, Eastman discovered that light is formed in
Schottky Diodes in reverse–biased conditions. Infrared LEDs and Lasers based in GaAs were first
reported in 1962 followed by the AlGaAs/GaAs devices in the early of 1960s. The first
demonstration on resonant–cavity light emitting diode was carry out in the AlGaAs/GaAs materials
system. The pioneering work on GaP LED was done in the early 1960s by Ralph Logan. Stimulated
emission was used to emit a photon. Green LEDs were formed at the end of 1960s. ... Show more

The application of LED in the fields of communication becomes the recent research topics with its
low cost advantage, high confidential and wirelessly environment. The Japan–based Visible Light
Communication Consortium was being introduced in 2002. In the United States, the Centre of
Ubiquitous Communication by Light carry out research to enable wireless communication by
implanting signals into the light emitted by next generation LED in systems for different purposes
such as traffic control, advertising and illumination. In Europe, the OMEGA Project was started with
its aim to enhance a home area network capable of delivering high–bandwidth services and operate
at a transmission speed of 1 GB/s.[6] A real time white light phosphor LED visible light
communication with compact size was being introduced whereby a few techniques was being
proposed to increase the data rate of phosphor LED such as high spectral–efficiency modulation,
digital equalization method, optical multi–input multi–output(MIMO) and optical blue filtering.[7]
There were plenty of researches presented their idea of using an LED as a photoemitter. However,
the challenge of LED act as a photodetector was being proposed when Forrest M. Mims showed its
potential to become a sensor.[8] The journal of photo–reception properties stated the possibility of
reversely polarized LED act as photodetector by measuring the

Led Zeppelin's Black Dog Analysis
Explorations in Music
Music Analysis
Led Zeppelin's Black Dog from their fourth album Led Zeppelin IV, is arguably one of their most
distinct and instantly recognisable songs. Led Zeppelin bassist, John Paul Jones was supposedly
inspired by Muddy Waters' 1968 album Electric Mud. XXX He longed to write a song which
incorporated "electric Blues with a rolling bass part," and "a riff that would be like a linear journey".
The following piece will analyses Led Zeppelin's Black Dog oi a number of ways. Starting with

It is unquestionable the Led Zeppelin have influenced many great artists throughout the years. Their
powerful legacy and inspirations can be seen in the work of many great musicians. Red Hot Chilli
Peppers, Metallica, Madonna, Alive Cooper, Guns 'n Roses are just some of the band the Led
Zeppelin had a profound influence on. XXX As Brian May from Queen said, "I'm the world's
biggest Led Zeppelin fan. The music, the way they conducted themselves, their whole management
structure – they were the blueprint". Brian May (No date). XXX
In terms of society and musically, Led Zeppelin are credited as the inventors of the heavy metal
genre. They were the forerunners of a style of music that would captivate society and guide a
generation.
"They were as influential in that decade as the Beatles were in the prior one. Their impact extends to
classic and alternative rockers alike. Then and now, Led Zeppelin looms larger than life on the rock

Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin were never afraid to try new musical directions, drawing inspiration from such styles
as blues, rock, folk, country (and everything in between!) to create a unique sound that almost defies
description, probably the most appropriate way to describe their vast repertoire is simply as "Led
Zeppelin". During their reign they created one of the most enduring and diverse catalogues in
modern music and firmly secured their status as one of the most influential groups ever (probably
second only to The Beatles!).
Throughout their years at the top they were shrouded in mystery and intrigue, and seemed to leave
behind a trail of question marks wherever they went. They were not a "public" band (they didn't hire

Compared to previous reels, these exist in almost mixed and completed form. There are however, a
number of differences to report as they mix down the material enthusiastically.
Darlene, played in a happy upbeat major key opens with a "one, two, three, four" allegro tempo
count–in from John Bonham, which gives the song quadruple meter. Very similar to the take that
eventually surfaced on "Coda", it pummels along in friendly conjunct legato form, live in the studio
style. This is clearly a consonant harmony, exemplifying verse and chorus form. Robert Plant's vocal
mix set can be detected after the "Pink carnation and a pick up truck" line. From that point he
accompanies Jimmy Page's delightful fortissimo solo adding, "I don't care what they say, I love you
anyway, I'll drive you wild ." Like most of these Polar mixes, instead of fading out; the homophonic
track grinds to a halt with a tinkling of John Paul Jones' electric piano played mezzo forte.
The version of Fool In The Rain, played in major key show this composition nearing its completed
verse and chorus mix. Some of the studio banter retained from Polar demonstrates the fun
atmosphere that the four were working in. The beginning of Fool In The Rain, is forte, after Page
counts in "two, three" Plant wades in with a "quatro!" giving this song its allegretto quadruple meter.

The Rise Of Science And Technology
With the continued growth in science and technology it is easy to say that we will achieve planetary
travel I the next twenty years or so. Many scientist and ordinary people think of the day when we
will colonize another planet. To do this we would need to send hundreds, if not thousands, of people
to that planet so that they may be self–sufficient. But first we would need to overcome one major
problem, food. If we send thousands of people to another planet we need to have a way of growing
food in an extraterrestrial environment. The reason why food is a problem is because of the distance
between planets. It is impractical to suggest an idea where a shuttle would resupply the inhabitance
of the planet, the costs would be astronomical. The way to solve this problem is by growing food on
the planets or other parts of space that we travel too. But is this even possible? If so, how would we
do it? How much would it cost and how long would it take? What effects would an alien
environment have on Earth based agriculture? What technologies have been and still need to be
developed before this becomes a realistic plan? And what are the possible benefits to growing
massive amounts of plants somewhere other than Earth? The first step would be to see if Earth based
agriculture can thrive in a low gravity zone, such as space. NASA (National Aeronautics and Space
Administration) has already started to experiment and develop methods on how to grow food in
space on the international space

Led Zeppelin's Accomplishments
Led Zeppelin was a very great and legendary band that made themselves known to people around
the world. Performing their best song ever, "Stairway to Heaven" helped them become famous
because of its huge success. Led Zeppelin consisted of, the well known and one of the best guitarists
ever, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant on vocals, John Paul Jones as their keyboardist and bassist, and
John Bonham on drums. They together made great music from 1968 to 1980 originating from
London, UK. They ended their careers mostly because their drummer John Bonham had died which
geve them the idea to stop making music. The genres of music Led Zeppelin played were hard rock,
blues rock, folk rock, and heavy metal thanks to Jimmy Page's guitar driven sound. This was proven
when they were placed in the top ten billboard albums of all time. Rolling Stones magazine had also
said that they were the, "Heaviest band of all time," and "The biggest band of the 70's." To top off
all of their outstanding achievements they were placed in the Rock Hall of Fame which happened to
be a very easy choice for the commissioners. Led Zeppelin was a legendary band and one of the

4. Advantages of Li–Fi
Light has 10000 times wider bandwidth than radio frequency so the capacity of data transfer will be
better than that of Wi–Fi.
Instead of using radio wave, Li–Fi uses visible light for communication.
Data transmission through Li–Fi is very cheap as LED uses very less amount of energy.
Security of a Li–Fi network is much better because the light cannot penetrate the walls so no one
can misuse the network.
The shortage issue of radio frequency bandwidth may be solved by using Li–Fi.
Using Li–Fi each street lamp can be used as a free data access point.
Underwater Wi–Fi does not work at all, here Li–Fi can be used for data transmission
5. Disadvantages of Li–Fi
Although there are lot of advantages of Li–Fi there are many challenges that we have to face and
overcome.
The main problem with Li–Fi is how the receiver will transfer the data back to the transmitter.
Li–Fi works on direct line of sight.

Led Zeppelin's Influence On Rock Music
Stemmed from a humorous conversation among musicians, the name Led Zeppelin has had a great
impact on rock music. Their influence had carried on past the 1970's, the time of their highest peak
of popularity when they had toured extensively. Almost instantaneously they had become a hit,
performing four concert tours in the US within their very first year. As time went on, many heavy
metal bands such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Queen, and Aerosmith as well as punk bands like
the Ramones had been impacted by Zeppelin and showed similar music styles in their own work.
However Robert Plant, frontman for Led Zeppelin remained ingratiatingly humble when discussing
the topic, as he described himself in the LA times, " 'I'm not exactly a musical ... Show more content

This had taken quite a toll on the band's unity as Plant had begun to separate himself and pursue new
paths before returning to the band. The song "All of my Love" , co–written by Plant, was dedicated
to Karac, (his son). On top of the death, Plant in an interview remembered how his band had
abandoned him in his time of need. "During the absolute darkest times of my life when I lost my
boy and my family was in disarray, it was Bonzo who came to me. The other guys were [from] the
South [of England] and didn't have the same type of social etiquette that we have up here in the
North that could actually bridge that uncomfortable chasm with all the sensitivities required ... to
console"(Giles). What he goes on to describe even more profound was when Jimmy Page, John Paul
Jones (bassist), and Grant had declined to make an appearance at Karac's funeral. This action had
forever hindered the relationship between Plant and his band members. However, it was Page that
had kept Plant from walking away from the band insuring that the band was nothing without him.
Plant goes on to say how, "he [Jimmy Page] wanted me to take a break until I felt ready for playing
again. I realized that we are more than business partners. We are real friends. We have enough

My Day Experience At A Music Festival Called Electric...
Thank you for always being a great friend of mine. We always hangout, do fun things, and make
great, unforgettable memories. You almost always come to concerts with me, show me new music,
and inspire me to love music even more. This is why I want to share you my three–day experience at
a music festival called Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), which is the second biggest music festival in
the world. I wore my EDC bracelet, which is my admission ticket, grabbed my ID and some cash to
buy food, drinks, and merchandise, and left my friend 's car with excitement. I was walking towards
my first EDC ever. My dream of going to EDC was about to come true. I was waiting in line for

As soon as I went through the security check, I walked into the racetrack, where this carnival was
held. From top the bleacher, I was able to see the entire carnival. On the left side, I was able to see
the main stage with a huge crowd of people. On the right side, I was able to see the merchandise
tent, where they sold food, drinks, and souvenirs, as well as the other three stages and few carnival
rides, including rampage and zipper. In front of me, I saw a stage, wider than a track field with five
large led screens showing colorful visuals, on a grass field, in which half of the people were dancing

My Favorite Experience
Over the weekend my family and I and Maddie went to the AT&T Park. I enjoyed this experience a
lot and would definitely go again. At first we walked around the first level to see what this was all
about, but we got there right at 10 (when it started) because we had to get to a soccer game, but all
the booths were still setting up so we couldn't really do that much so we decided to go down to the
field where big booths were set up. The first booth we went to was where a man was setting up a
long tube and he said that it was like a huge vacuum and that he is going to shoot a ping pong ball
against the wall. This was a lot louder than I had expected it at first, but it was really cool to see that
something I would think sucks things in (a vacuum) could shoot things out. Then we moved on to a
booth where a man had laid out metal items(a spatula, a spoon, and a slinky) with two strings ties to
them. The man there told us to take the string and wrap it around your fingers and put your fingers
in your ear and then bang the metal against something hard, a table or the round. At first I tried this
with a spoon and I heard a cool sound and he explained to us that the vibration from the spoon
hitting the table went up the string and directly into my ear. Then he told me to try this with the
slinky, by brother tried it before and told me that was the coolest thing he had ever heard and that I
should definitely try it. And it was the coolest thing I have ever heard. It is really hard to

Treasure Island Hotel & Casino (also known as "TI") is a hotel and casino located in Las Vegas.
This hotel is a four star hotel and this hotel is located in the city. It has 2664 rooms and 220 suites.
Although it is a four star hotel, it still has a casino, 10 restaurants, 7 bars, nightclub, a full range of
spa facilities, outdoor pool, gym, and meeting rooms (Treasure Island Hotel, 2016).

According to Michael Longi, the VP and CFO of Treasure Island, the implementation of this system
is the right decision for the desert community because it saves water, reduces the cost and makes
good business sense. This water cooling system has a profound result. TWater savings of 1.2 million
gallons over six–month period and generate $7,200 in water savings. Besides, energy reduced
through better microbic control and cleaner, chiller tubes, and the reduced energy costs is around,
$21,000.
Although Island Hotel has made its move towards an environmental friendly hotel but there are
more efforts need to be made to achieve this. With 2800 rooms, the consumption of cleaning
supplies including scents, soaps, detergents, bleaching agents are enormous and caused damages to
the environment.
According to Das, 2007,most of the water–softening mineral and detergent contain phosphates.
When phosphates enter waterways, they act as a fertilizer, spawning overgrowth of algae. This
overabundance of aquatic plant life eventually depletes the water's oxygen supply, killing off fish
and other organisms.

Midwifery-Led Vs Obstetrician-Led
Maternity Care Models: Midwifery–Led versus Obstetrician–Led A female actively in the
antepartum stage can present to a hospital or many different settings where varying different models
of care can take place. Many studies have been done to predict the best outcomes for the mother and
baby within these different models of care. The models highly researched and studied include the
midwife–led care model and the obstetrician–led care model. One model highly practiced in New
Zealand and the Netherlands is the midwife–led care. The midwife care model is care from the same

study was to determine the rates severe acute maternal morbidity (SAMM) which included uterine
rupture, eclampsia, hemorrhage, maternal death and other severe outcomes (Jonge et al., 2015).
Researchers concluded that patients that started with midwife care at the onset of labor will have
decreased severe maternal outcomes than starting with obstetrical–led care (Jonge et al., 2015).
Other resources confirm that women who received midwife–led care had less epidurals,
episiotomy's, and lacerations (Sandal et al., 2013). A majority of these women went without
induction which resulted in fewer preterm labors (Sandal et al., 2013). Although a contrasting recent
study in New Zealand demonstrated a greater decrease in severe fetal outcomes including stillbirth,
birth related asphyxia, neonatal encephalopathy, and low APGAR scores during obstetrician–led
care rather than midwifery–led care (Wernaham et al., 2016). Research done at a Freestanding Birth
Center using the midwife–led care model depicted that fewer preterm births took place but no

Comparing Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven
Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven verdict was gold for the members of the iconic rock band. The
verdict went in their favor, and against Spirit, the group whose instrumental song, Taurus, they were
accused of plagiarizing in creating their mega–million selling hit song. Though a chromatic
descending arpeggiated scale that skips the E note is featured in both songs, making a part of
"Stairway to Heaven" sound similar to a part of Taurus, the jury panel appeared to base its
unanimous decision on Thursday on the fact that the two songs, to their ears, had more differences
than similarities between them, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The decision that Led Zeppelin did not plagiarized the song by Spirit, written by the band's late
guitarist and songwriter, Randy Wolfe, was reached by a jury in a federal court room in Los Angeles
after a trial that lasted a week. Wolfe passed away in 1997. The case was brought against Led
Zeppelin by Michael Skidmore, a trustee of the estate of Wolfe. Wolfe's estate was asking for

How Led Zeppelin Influenced American Culture
One of the most influential rock bands, Led Zeppelin, not only influenced American musicians, but
also influenced the American culture with their combined rock, heavy–metal, blues, and folk to
create an outstanding and timeless sound which can be followed from the origins of the band,
through the height of the band's career, to the legacy they left behind. Before Led Zeppelin was
founded, each of the members had previous experience playing different styles of music that
contributed to the sound of Led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant's main influences were
blues player, Willie Dixon and the influences found in the country of Morocco. Both men played in
many other bands including Jeff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also worked with distorted amplifiers which led to the evolution of what we call today, heavy–
metal. Led Zeppelin also experienced with a softer sound by using acoustic guitars. Shortly after
releasing their 1st album, they released their second album, and became as some would say the
"biggest band in the world". Years later, the band would release a total of ten albums in all, not
including greatest hit albums. Furthermore, Led Zeppelin's music has left a lasting legacy that
influenced music over four decades and influenced many elements in today's American popular
culture. Led Zeppelin has sold millions of albums worldwide. Not only did they influence their
generation of music, but also influenced the American music that is created today. "They were the
first band to prove hard rock was a genre that a lengthy career could be built off," (Grant). In the
1970's, bands such as The Cars, The Who, Bad Company, and Lynard Skynard were greatly
influenced by Led Zeppelin, creating a heavier rock n' roll sound. They were the first few bands to
use elements Led Zeppelin created. In the 1980's, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, and Guns and Roses
also experimented with similar riffs, sounds, and style that Led Zeppelin created. Three decades
later, you can still find similar sounds and style that was incorporated into Led Zeppelin style. Bands
known for this include Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Hooty and the Blowfish. Of course, there are

Essay On Solar Energy
Why are full spectrum LED lights better than HPS lights?
One of the most difficult and befuddling tasks of an indoor grower is to select the best light source
for the proper growth of plants. After all, it really is an important task to find a replacement for the
natural sunlight. In all other choices over items for indoor growing, people are usually able to
narrow down to a particular item but in the context of the light source, users find themselves
bamboozled. The market is replete with light sources and they only contribute to making the indoor
growers more and more perplexed. However, when acquainted with certain facts, any indoor grower
can make an informed decision about the light source that would be most suitable for your plant. ...

But as they had no option their loyalty rested with the HPS light sources. But once LED light source
was able to establish itself in the market, the loyalty of the customers gradually shifted to the
product which offered the best services viz. LED light sources.
Now, let's delve into the details of pros and cons of each of these light sources.
HPS light source provides the indoor plants with heat and light required for their growth. But the
only bad point in this regard is that it provides heat and light in excess. The additional heat and light
are harmful to the plant. An excess of heat may cause the leaves to burn and thus destroy the plants.
Hence, in order to vent out the excess and protect the plant from the damage, a ventilation system
needs to be incorporated along with HPS light sources. This makes the HPS light sources very
bulky. Moreover, as the HPS light sources provide excess heat and light, they also consume more
power. Thus it aggrandizes the cost incurred by the indoor grower while availing the facilities
offered by the HPS light sources. Also, it makes them less energy efficient.
LED light sources with their plethora of services have won the heart of a crescendo of customers.
Firstly, LED light sources are cheaper than HPS light sources which makes it economically feasible
for the consumers. Secondly, LED light sources exude just enough quantity of heat and light as may
be required by the

Analysis Assignment- Stairway to Heaven
ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT– STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
Through ineffective manipulation of structure, timbre and melody, Victor Lopez's short version of
Stairway to Heaven fails to convey the same mood and effect on the listener as the original classic
piece by Led Zeppelin.
Jimmy Page, lead guitarist of hard rock band Led Zeppelin, and composer of Stairway to Heaven,
once said with reference to the album this piece was released on, "My vocation is more in
composition really than anything else – building up harmonies using the guitar, orchestrating the
guitar like an army, a guitar army". Victor Lopez's variation of Stairway to Heaven unsuccessfully
attempts to capture the same style and mood, given its complete change in genre and lack of
sensitivity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The introduction starts with every instrument playing and an attempted take off of the chorus,
contrasting the idea of one melody growing in Led Zeppelin's version. The arranged variation begins
in E flat major and modulates to D major. There is no clear melody evident at all throughout the
piece, as the number of instruments playing at similar volumes, makes it hard to determine.
Ornamentation is also a key musical flourish in the original, that lacks in Victor Lopez's version, as
there is no guitar and therefore none of the brilliant guitar techniques mentioned above, to make the
music come alive and become more than just notes on a page.
The timbre or characteristic quality of sound displays a great difference when comparing the jazz
arrangement of Stairway to Heaven to the original. Jimmy Page manipulates his guitar as the main
sound source with such brilliance, using a variety of methods such as pull offs, vibrato, hammer–
ons, bends and slides (see Figure 2). The guitar is the central instrument and is held responsible for
the individuality and vividness of the piece as it holds the majority of the melody, and in particular
brings out the contrast during the bridge and solo (5:35). The entire piece depends on the guitar as it
continues to play throughout the whole song and is accountable for the most complex part,
portraying the creativity and ingeniousness of Stairway to

How Has Led Zeppelin Changed Society
Led Zeppelin was created when the band Yardbirds, a previous band that Jimmy Page played in,
disbanded. Page, the lead guitarist, found Robert Plant and John Bonham and created a new band
which would be called the New Yardbirds; they would later adopt the name Led Zeppelin. The main
goal they wanted to achieve was to emphasize the guitar, which they accomplished Plant, the singer,
had a peculiar voice, raspy with many vocal ranges that he did not know when to hold back his
voice. "Not only was he capable of jaw–dropping power and velocity, but he also deftly
incorporated evocative percussion elements which added texture and shading." (Led Zeppelin). The
drummer, John Bonham, was a fast drummer who kept perfect time. Led Zeppelin effected music in
multiple ways, such as changing the idea of rock music by creating a blueprint for heavy metal
music and by influencing the styles of many people. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame in 1995 (Led Zeppelin). Led Zeppelin was and still is arguably one of the best rock

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin
The song is about a materialistic path of life that people take, which only satisfies them with desires
of the world for material objects. This in turn leaves a weak feeling of lack of spiritual fulfillment
leading them a question of how they would get into heaven. The character in the song who is a lady
in finds the fulfillment of worldly satisfaction by buying stairway that she may use to heaven.
Otherwise she realizes that life is not all about being able to buy everything she can afford. The song
shows the spirit of this woman yearning for a deeper happiness. Then she is answered to her
yearning soul that one may take either of the two existing ways. It shows a chance of salvation for
all souls that go down the path that lead them to hell. The main part of this essay contains the
analysis of the artifact. The meaning in almost every verse when the song is broken down is
foremost given in this analysis. Later, we shall critically analyze the song and give deductions of the
analysis. An evaluative judgment of the artifact of this song is done. The revelation of the analysis
about the artifact in particular and about rhetorical processes in general will be explained. A
conclusion will highlight the role the song plays in our daily lives

Led Zep 'Stairway' testimony results in win
Members of Led Zeppelin are feeling a whole lotta love for members of a Los Angeles jury who
ruled in favor of the British rockers in a court case claiming copyright infringement. Allegations
were that the group's signature song 'Stairway to Heaven' was built on a ripped–off riff from 60s
psychedelic band Spirit.
Testimony from band members and 'Stairway' writers, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, along with
testimony from bandmate John Paul Jones were key in helping the jury come to a decision in the
case.
Plant lightened the mood in the courtroom on one occasion when Francis Malofiy, the attorney

Visual Distraction Essay
Visual Distraction and its effects on reaction time in humans
Abstract
This research project explores the effects and consequences of visual distraction on reaction times in
adults. In this study we want to see if participants who are visually distracted have a slower pre–
motor time than those who are not visually distracted. This is crucial in situations such as driving as
we believe there are many accidents that arise from distractions. In order to address the question, we
will collect sufficient participants and perform simple experiments to gather required results. Our
results will contain accurate measurements of reaction times which will be a critical factor for
gaining knowledge in this area.
This field of study caught our attention as we believe there are many on–road accidents which result
from mainly visual and other sorts of distractions such as audio. Distractions are said to be a
fundamental factor which contributes to a slower pre–motor time in traffic conditions(Holahan,
Culler et al. 1978). Similar studies have been done in this field(Triggs and Harris 1982, Consiglio,
Driscoll et al. 2003), However they mainly focus on a broad spectrum of distractions and don't go
into specific details of each type of distraction. Knowing this, we want to examine systematically
the effects of visual environmental distractions on reaction times of individuals.
A study performed in Great Britain states significant amount of deaths occur yearly which are

Economic Growth is one of the foremost goals of policymakers throughout the world. Every country
has varied strategies across the time for pursuing this objective. One amongst all the strategy is the

across the globe in recent years. Following the Asian financial crisis of 1997–1998 and the global

PROBLEMS OF EXPORT LED GROWTH :
Less Economic diversification : Export–led growth economies, by encouraging specific industries,
simultaneously discourage other industries, resulting in less economic diversification. This exposes
the economy to risk if global demand shifts away from the goods the country exports. This becomes
especially important in agriculture–based economies that move from a self–sustaining economy to
one focused on exports. For example, if a country 's farmers stopped growing food for subsistence
and started growing tobacco for export, this country would not only suffer economically if global
demand for tobacco dropped, it may no longer be able to feed itself. Because the government
actively encourages specific industries by offering subsidies and other monetary incentives, it runs a
risk of encouraging the wrong industries. Comparative advantage is difficult to ascertain in practice
because determining the relative efficiency of an entire industry requires a large amount of data that

Light emitting diodes, also known as LEDs have really...
Light emitting diodes, also known as LEDs have really changed the way people think about lighting.
An ordinary incandescent light bulb uses up 90% of energy it consumes as heat. Also, they last
about 900 hours. The LED lasts about 25,000 hours, which is equivalent to 22 years. This is a major
difference.
Origins of the Technology:
In 1962, Nick Holonyak Jr. invented the first light emitting diode, also known as the LED light bulb.
He was a general Electric researcher. Some of the first work done on LEDs was at Bell Labs in the
1950's. GE scientists were experimenting with many different chemicals. "By 1960, GE scientists
were experimenting with gallium arsenide, a III–V semiconductor compound alloy (III and V
referring to columns of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After that, blue and white diodes were made. The blue diodes helped with the creation of the white
diodes. Researchers decided to coat the blue LEDs with phosphor (a fluorescent fluid) to make the
blue LEDs look white. All of this allowed LEDs to be used in traffic lights, flashlights, and TVs.
LED bulbs are more efficient than regular bulbs. A regular CFL light bulbs costs about $5, while an
LED can vary from $15–$40. LEDs are more expensive because their efficiency is better than an
ordinary bulb. Regular light bulbs do a terrible job of converting energy to light. This causes the
majority of the energy in the light bulb to be wasted as heat energy. The bad thing about LEDs is
that they are more expensive than regular bulbs. This is very negative because today people may not
want to spend their money on something like this.
How it Works: The first part of a light emitting diode (LED) is the diode. A diode is an electric
component that has two electrodes that are called the anode and the cathode. The diode is the
simplest type of a semi conductor. A semi conductor is a solid chemical element that can conduct
electricity. Most semiconductors are made with damaged conductors that have impurities added to
them. This is called doping. The impurities can be atoms from another material. "In pure aluminum–
gallium–arsenide, all of the atoms bond perfectly to their neighbors, leaving no free electrons
(negatively charged particles) to conduct electric current."

e) Variable resistance:(Potentiometer)
Resistors are one of the most common electronic components. A resistor is a device that limits, or
resists current. The current limiting ability or resistance is measured in ohms, represented by the
Greek symbol Omega. Variable resistors (also called potentiometers or just "pots") are resistors that
have a variable resistance. You adjust the resistance by turning a shaft. This shaft moves a wiper
across the actual resistor element. By changing the amounts of resistor between the wiper
connection and the connection (s) to the resistor element, you can change the resistance. You will
often see the resistance of resistors written with K (kilohms) after the number value. This means that
there are that many thousands of ohms. For example, 1K is 1000 ohm,2K is 2000 ohm, 3.3K is 3300
ohm, etc. You may also see the suffix M (mega ohms). This simply means million. Resistors are also
rated by their power handling capability. This is the amount of heat the resistor can take before it is
destroyed. The power capability is measured in W (watts) Common wattages for variable resistors
are 1/8W, 1/4W, 1/2W and 1W. Anything of a higher wattage is referred to as a rheostat
Connection pin is passed through the hole and is soldered.

and color of the light producing that energy. We also were in charge of measuring the rate at which
evaporation occurs for rubbing alcohol depending on the different colored diodes.
Materials:
* LEDs and circuits (from previous lab) * Pipette (or eyedropper) * Rubbing alcohol * Index card *
9–volt battery * Flashlight * Stopwatch * Small cardboard shoe box
Procedure:
1. Set up an Excel spreadsheet listing variables: evaporation time vs. frequency of LED. 2. Make a
three–sided enclosure from the cardboard box. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were asked to look up the frequency of the different colored diodes and the results are presented
in a graph.
Results:
After plotting the graph to determine the relationship of evaporation rate and frequency of LED, it
seemed that the lower the frequency, the less time it took for the alcohol to evaporate. Although, the
green LED bulb was an outlier, the rest of the values (on average) met this relationship.
Conclusion:
The theory behind this experiment was to use previous learning of light and frequency to determine
how fast alcohol evaporates when certain colored lights shine on it. The wavelength and frequency
of light are inversely proportional, and wavelength decreases from red to violet. The goal is to
investigate the relationship between the frequency of light (color) and the energy produced by
different colors of light. The relationship is proportional, as discovered by this activity, and the
larger the frequency (such as blue), the longer it takes for the alcohol to evaporate.
The results of the experiment produced known errors. Since we were told to make 10 trials, I
decided to do 12. Many of the times, the lights would flicker or not light up completely, especially
when working with the green. This is probably why my results produced varied numbers, and why
the green LED light was an outlier with the average evaporation time. Some of the times, I
accidentally dropped one–too–many drops of alcohol, but I started over and

LED Essay

  • 1. LED Essay The development of LED started with the first Light Emitting Diode appears at early of twentieth century. The first LED light was produced by touching the SiC crystal with metal electrodes so that a rectifying Schottky contact was formed. In 1964, Eastman discovered that light is formed in Schottky Diodes in reverse–biased conditions. Infrared LEDs and Lasers based in GaAs were first reported in 1962 followed by the AlGaAs/GaAs devices in the early of 1960s. The first demonstration on resonant–cavity light emitting diode was carry out in the AlGaAs/GaAs materials system. The pioneering work on GaP LED was done in the early 1960s by Ralph Logan. Stimulated emission was used to emit a photon. Green LEDs were formed at the end of 1960s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The application of LED in the fields of communication becomes the recent research topics with its low cost advantage, high confidential and wirelessly environment. The Japan–based Visible Light Communication Consortium was being introduced in 2002. In the United States, the Centre of Ubiquitous Communication by Light carry out research to enable wireless communication by implanting signals into the light emitted by next generation LED in systems for different purposes such as traffic control, advertising and illumination. In Europe, the OMEGA Project was started with its aim to enhance a home area network capable of delivering high–bandwidth services and operate at a transmission speed of 1 GB/s.[6] A real time white light phosphor LED visible light communication with compact size was being introduced whereby a few techniques was being proposed to increase the data rate of phosphor LED such as high spectral–efficiency modulation, digital equalization method, optical multi–input multi–output(MIMO) and optical blue filtering.[7] There were plenty of researches presented their idea of using an LED as a photoemitter. However, the challenge of LED act as a photodetector was being proposed when Forrest M. Mims showed its potential to become a sensor.[8] The journal of photo–reception properties stated the possibility of reversely polarized LED act as photodetector by measuring the ... Led Zeppelin's Black Dog Analysis Explorations in Music Music Analysis Led Zeppelin's Black Dog from their fourth album Led Zeppelin IV, is arguably one of their most distinct and instantly recognisable songs. • 5. Led Zeppelin Essay Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin were never afraid to try new musical directions, drawing inspiration from such styles as blues, rock, folk, country (and everything in between!) to create a unique sound that almost defies description, probably the most appropriate way to describe their vast repertoire is simply as "Led Zeppelin". During their reign they created one of the most enduring and diverse catalogues in modern music and firmly secured their status as one of the most influential groups ever (probably second only to The Beatles!). Throughout their years at the top they were shrouded in mystery and intrigue, and seemed to leave behind a trail of question marks wherever they went. There are however, a number of differences to report as they mix down the material enthusiastically. Darlene, played in a happy upbeat major key opens with a "one, two, three, four" allegro tempo count–in from John Bonham, which gives the song quadruple meter. Very similar to the take that eventually surfaced on "Coda", it pummels along in friendly conjunct legato form, live in the studio style. This is clearly a consonant harmony, exemplifying verse and chorus form. Robert Plant's vocal mix set can be detected after the "Pink carnation and a pick up truck" line. From that point he accompanies Jimmy Page's delightful fortissimo solo adding, "I don't care what they say, I love you anyway, I'll drive you wild ." Like most of these Polar mixes, instead of fading out; the homophonic track grinds to a halt with a tinkling of John Paul Jones' electric piano played mezzo forte. The version of Fool In The Rain, played in major key show this composition nearing its completed verse and chorus mix. Some of the studio banter retained from Polar demonstrates the fun atmosphere that the four were working in. The beginning of Fool In The Rain, is forte, after Page counts in "two, three" Plant wades in with a "quatro!" giving this song its allegretto quadruple meter. This mix ... • 7. The Rise Of Science And Technology With the continued growth in science and technology it is easy to say that we will achieve planetary travel I the next twenty years or so. Many scientist and ordinary people think of the day when we will colonize another planet. To do this we would need to send hundreds, if not thousands, of people to that planet so that they may be self–sufficient. But first we would need to overcome one major problem, food. If we send thousands of people to another planet we need to have a way of growing food in an extraterrestrial environment. The reason why food is a problem is because of the distance between planets. It is impractical to suggest an idea where a shuttle would resupply the inhabitance of the planet, the costs would be astronomical. The way to solve this problem is by growing food on the planets or other parts of space that we travel too. But is this even possible? If so, how would we do it? How much would it cost and how long would it take? What effects would an alien environment have on Earth based agriculture? What technologies have been and still need to be developed before this becomes a realistic plan? And what are the possible benefits to growing massive amounts of plants somewhere other than Earth? The first step would be to see if Earth based agriculture can thrive in a low gravity zone, such as space. NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has already started to experiment and develop methods on how to grow food in space on the international space ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages of Li–Fi Light has 10000 times wider bandwidth than radio frequency so the capacity of data transfer will be better than that of Wi–Fi. Instead of using radio wave, Li–Fi uses visible light for communication. Data transmission through Li–Fi is very cheap as LED uses very less amount of energy. Security of a Li–Fi network is much better because the light cannot penetrate the walls so no one can misuse the network. The shortage issue of radio frequency bandwidth may be solved by using Li–Fi. Using Li–Fi each street lamp can be used as a free data access point. Underwater Wi–Fi does not work at all, here Li–Fi can be used for data transmission 5. Disadvantages of Li–Fi Although there are lot of advantages of Li–Fi there are many challenges that we have to face and overcome. The main problem with Li–Fi is how the receiver will transfer the data back to the transmitter. Li–Fi works on direct line of sight. The network topology is point to ... • 15. Led Zeppelin's Influence On Rock Music Stemmed from a humorous conversation among musicians, the name Led Zeppelin has had a great impact on rock music. Their influence had carried on past the 1970's, the time of their highest peak of popularity when they had toured extensively. Almost instantaneously they had become a hit, performing four concert tours in the US within their very first year. As time went on, many heavy metal bands such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Queen, and Aerosmith as well as punk bands like the Ramones had been impacted by Zeppelin and showed similar music styles in their own work. However Robert Plant, frontman for Led Zeppelin remained ingratiatingly humble when discussing the topic, as he described himself in the LA times, " 'I'm not exactly a musical ... The song "All of my Love" , co–written by Plant, was dedicated to Karac, (his son). On top of the death, Plant in an interview remembered how his band had abandoned him in his time of need. "During the absolute darkest times of my life when I lost my boy and my family was in disarray, it was Bonzo who came to me. The other guys were [from] the South [of England] and didn't have the same type of social etiquette that we have up here in the North that could actually bridge that uncomfortable chasm with all the sensitivities required ... to console"(Giles). What he goes on to describe even more profound was when Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones (bassist), and Grant had declined to make an appearance at Karac's funeral. This action had forever hindered the relationship between Plant and his band members. However, it was Page that had kept Plant from walking away from the band insuring that the band was nothing without him. Plant goes on to say how, "he [Jimmy Page] wanted me to take a break until I felt ready for playing again. I realized that we are more than business partners. We are real friends. You almost always come to concerts with me, show me new music, and inspire me to love music even more. This is why I want to share you my three–day experience at a music festival called Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), which is the second biggest music festival in the world. I wore my EDC bracelet, which is my admission ticket, grabbed my ID and some cash to buy food, drinks, and merchandise, and left my friend 's car with excitement. I was walking towards my first EDC ever. My dream of going to EDC was about to come true. I was waiting in line for security check and I couldn 't stop thinking and imagining about what I would be experiencing soon. As soon as I went through the security check, I walked into the racetrack, where this carnival was held. From top the bleacher, I was able to see the entire carnival. On the left side, I was able to see the main stage with a huge crowd of people. On the right side, I was able to see the merchandise tent, where they sold food, drinks, and souvenirs, as well as the other three stages and few carnival rides, including rampage and zipper. At first we walked around the first level to see what this was all about, but we got there right at 10 (when it started) because we had to get to a soccer game, but all the booths were still setting up so we couldn't really do that much so we decided to go down to the field where big booths were set up. The first booth we went to was where a man was setting up a long tube and he said that it was like a huge vacuum and that he is going to shoot a ping pong ball against the wall. This was a lot louder than I had expected it at first, but it was really cool to see that something I would think sucks things in (a vacuum) could shoot things out. Then we moved on to a booth where a man had laid out metal items(a spatula, a spoon, and a slinky) with two strings ties to them. The man there told us to take the string and wrap it around your fingers and put your fingers in your ear and then bang the metal against something hard, a table or the round. At first I tried this with a spoon and I heard a cool sound and he explained to us that the vibration from the spoon hitting the table went up the string and directly into my ear. The verdict went in their favor, and against Spirit, the group whose instrumental song, Taurus, they were accused of plagiarizing in creating their mega–million selling hit song. Though a chromatic descending arpeggiated scale that skips the E note is featured in both songs, making a part of "Stairway to Heaven" sound similar to a part of Taurus, the jury panel appeared to base its unanimous decision on Thursday on the fact that the two songs, to their ears, had more differences than similarities between them, according to Entertainment Weekly. But once LED light source was able to establish itself in the market, the loyalty of the customers gradually shifted to the product which offered the best services viz. LED light sources. Now, let's delve into the details of pros and cons of each of these light sources. HPS light source provides the indoor plants with heat and light required for their growth. But the only bad point in this regard is that it provides heat and light in excess. The additional heat and light are harmful to the plant. An excess of heat may cause the leaves to burn and thus destroy the plants. Hence, in order to vent out the excess and protect the plant from the damage, a ventilation system needs to be incorporated along with HPS light sources. This makes the HPS light sources very bulky. Moreover, as the HPS light sources provide excess heat and light, they also consume more power. Thus it aggrandizes the cost incurred by the indoor grower while availing the facilities offered by the HPS light sources. Also, it makes them less energy efficient. LED light sources with their plethora of services have won the heart of a crescendo of customers. The introduction starts with every instrument playing and an attempted take off of the chorus, contrasting the idea of one melody growing in Led Zeppelin's version. The arranged variation begins in E flat major and modulates to D major. There is no clear melody evident at all throughout the piece, as the number of instruments playing at similar volumes, makes it hard to determine. Ornamentation is also a key musical flourish in the original, that lacks in Victor Lopez's version, as there is no guitar and therefore none of the brilliant guitar techniques mentioned above, to make the music come alive and become more than just notes on a page. The timbre or characteristic quality of sound displays a great difference when comparing the jazz arrangement of Stairway to Heaven to the original. Jimmy Page manipulates his guitar as the main sound source with such brilliance, using a variety of methods such as pull offs, vibrato, hammer– ons, bends and slides (see Figure 2). The guitar is the central instrument and is held responsible for the individuality and vividness of the piece as it holds the majority of the melody, and in particular brings out the contrast during the bridge and solo (5:35). Led Zep Stairway To Heaven Led Zep 'Stairway' testimony results in win Members of Led Zeppelin are feeling a whole lotta love for members of a Los Angeles jury who ruled in favor of the British rockers in a court case claiming copyright infringement. Allegations were that the group's signature song 'Stairway to Heaven' was built on a ripped–off riff from 60s psychedelic band Spirit. Testimony from band members and 'Stairway' writers, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, along with testimony from bandmate John Paul Jones were key in helping the jury come to a decision in the case. Plant lightened the mood in the courtroom on one occasion when Francis Malofiy, the attorney representing the estate of Randy Wolfe (a.k.a. Visual Distraction Essay Visual Distraction and its effects on reaction time in humans Abstract This research project explores the effects and consequences of visual distraction on reaction times in adults. In this study we want to see if participants who are visually distracted have a slower pre– motor time than those who are not visually distracted. This is crucial in situations such as driving as we believe there are many accidents that arise from distractions. In order to address the question, we will collect sufficient participants and perform simple experiments to gather required results. Our results will contain accurate measurements of reaction times which will be a critical factor for gaining knowledge in this area. This field of study caught our attention as we believe there are many on–road accidents which result from mainly visual and other sorts of distractions such as audio. Distractions are said to be a fundamental factor which contributes to a slower pre–motor time in traffic conditions(Holahan, Culler et al. 1978). Similar studies have been done in this field(Triggs and Harris 1982, Consiglio, Driscoll et al. 2003), However they mainly focus on a broad spectrum of distractions and don't go into specific details of each type of distraction. Knowing this, we want to examine systematically the effects of visual environmental distractions on reaction times of individuals. A study performed in Great Britain states significant amount of deaths occur yearly which are mainly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

PROBLEMS OF EXPORT LED GROWTH : Less Economic diversification : Export–led growth economies, by encouraging specific industries, simultaneously discourage other industries, resulting in less economic diversification. This exposes the economy to risk if global demand shifts away from the goods the country exports. This becomes especially important in agriculture–based economies that move from a self–sustaining economy to one focused on exports. For example, if a country 's farmers stopped growing food for subsistence and started growing tobacco for export, this country would not only suffer economically if global demand for tobacco dropped, it may no longer be able to feed itself. Because the government actively encourages specific industries by offering subsidies and other monetary incentives, it runs a risk of encouraging the wrong industries. • 64. Light emitting diodes, also known as LEDs have really... Light emitting diodes, also known as LEDs have really changed the way people think about lighting. An ordinary incandescent light bulb uses up 90% of energy it consumes as heat. Also, they last about 900 hours. The LED lasts about 25,000 hours, which is equivalent to 22 years. This is a major difference. Origins of the Technology: In 1962, Nick Holonyak Jr. invented the first light emitting diode, also known as the LED light bulb. He was a general Electric researcher. Some of the first work done on LEDs was at Bell Labs in the 1950's. GE scientists were experimenting with many different chemicals. "By 1960, GE scientists were experimenting with gallium arsenide, a III–V semiconductor compound alloy (III and V referring to columns of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After that, blue and white diodes were made. The blue diodes helped with the creation of the white diodes. Researchers decided to coat the blue LEDs with phosphor (a fluorescent fluid) to make the blue LEDs look white. All of this allowed LEDs to be used in traffic lights, flashlights, and TVs. LED bulbs are more efficient than regular bulbs. A regular CFL light bulbs costs about $5, while an LED can vary from $15–$40. LEDs are more expensive because their efficiency is better than an ordinary bulb. Regular light bulbs do a terrible job of converting energy to light. This causes the majority of the energy in the light bulb to be wasted as heat energy. The bad thing about LEDs is that they are more expensive than regular bulbs. This is very negative because today people may not want to spend their money on something like this. How it Works: The first part of a light emitting diode (LED) is the diode. A diode is an electric component that has two electrodes that are called the anode and the cathode. The diode is the simplest type of a semi conductor. A semi conductor is a solid chemical element that can conduct electricity. Most semiconductors are made with damaged conductors that have impurities added to them. This is called doping. The impurities can be atoms from another material. "In pure aluminum– gallium–arsenide, all of the atoms bond perfectly to their neighbors, leaving no free electrons (negatively charged particles) to conduct electric current." ... LEDs may or may not be drawn with the circle surrounding them. e) Variable resistance:(Potentiometer) Resistors are one of the most common electronic components. A resistor is a device that limits, or resists current. The current limiting ability or resistance is measured in ohms, represented by the Greek symbol Omega. Variable resistors (also called potentiometers or just "pots") are resistors that have a variable resistance. You adjust the resistance by turning a shaft. This shaft moves a wiper across the actual resistor element. By changing the amounts of resistor between the wiper connection and the connection (s) to the resistor element, you can change the resistance. You will often see the resistance of resistors written with K (kilohms) after the number value. This means that there are that many thousands of ohms. For example, 1K is 1000 ohm,2K is 2000 ohm, 3.3K is 3300 ohm, etc. You may also see the suffix M (mega ohms). This simply means million. Resistors are also rated by their power handling capability. This is the amount of heat the resistor can take before it is destroyed. The power capability is measured in W (watts) Common wattages for variable resistors are 1/8W, 1/4W, 1/2W and 1W. Anything of a higher wattage is referred to as a rheostat Connection pin is passed through the hole and is soldered. WORKING: When light falls on the LDR then its resistance ... Lab 10 Lindsay Bingham PHY101 – 18801 8/19/2013 Electrical Components and Circuits Purpose: The objective of this experiment was to analyze light and its relationship between energy and color of the light producing that energy. We also were in charge of measuring the rate at which evaporation occurs for rubbing alcohol depending on the different colored diodes. Materials: * LEDs and circuits (from previous lab) * Pipette (or eyedropper) * Rubbing alcohol * Index card * 9–volt battery * Flashlight * Stopwatch * Small cardboard shoe box Procedure: 1. Set up an Excel spreadsheet listing variables: evaporation time vs. frequency of LED. 2. Make a three–sided enclosure from the cardboard box. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were asked to look up the frequency of the different colored diodes and the results are presented in a graph. Results: After plotting the graph to determine the relationship of evaporation rate and frequency of LED, it seemed that the lower the frequency, the less time it took for the alcohol to evaporate. Although, the green LED bulb was an outlier, the rest of the values (on average) met this relationship. Conclusion: The theory behind this experiment was to use previous learning of light and frequency to determine how fast alcohol evaporates when certain colored lights shine on it. The wavelength and frequency of light are inversely proportional, and wavelength decreases from red to violet. The goal is to investigate the relationship between the frequency of light (color) and the energy produced by different colors of light. The relationship is proportional, as discovered by this activity, and the larger the frequency (such as blue), the longer it takes for the alcohol to evaporate. The results of the experiment produced known errors. Since we were told to make 10 trials, I decided to do 12. Many of the times, the lights would flicker or not light up completely, especially when working with the green. This is probably why my results produced varied numbers, and why the green LED light was an outlier with the average evaporation time. Some of the times, I accidentally dropped one–too–many drops of alcohol, but I started over and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
