Every three years, all students receiving special education services must be evaluated to determine if
they continue to meet the qualifications of special education and if they need special education
services to be able to do well in school.
Classification/Diagnosis:
Makenna currently receives special education services under the label of Specific Leaning
Disabilities. Earlier in the school year, Makenna received Study Skills (pull out for a class period)
and support in her some of her General Education classes. To determine if she continued to need as
much support, parents agreed to temporarily remove Makenna from the Study Skills class, and
provide Makenna special education support only when requested in the General Education classes.
Background:
Originally, Makenna's mother made a request for an evaluation by the Douglas County Infant and
Toddler program in December of 2005. She was evaluated and received speech–language services

1999) and how it affects the returns for those in the labour market that fall into this category of
"over–educated" (Sicherman, 1991). Although previous studies have lightly focused on how over–
education affects earnings, studies either focus on the US labour market (Rumberger 1987) or when
they do focus on the UK, its effect are assessed only for ethnic minorities. (Lindley 2009). A focus
on an aggregated scale of all races will supplement the literature where I intend to test whether
immigrants are likely to be more over–qualified than UK born citizens and then compare the effect

same class at a regular level. An A in a regular class is worth four points, but an A in an AP class is
worth 4.08 points. Those .08 points can add up quickly if a student is taking more than one AP

The United States is currently facing a difficult time with teacher shortages. In North Carolina alone,
14.8 percent of teachers left the profession in the school years of 2014–2015 according to the Public
School Forum (Barth et al. 23). Teacher shortage is a crucial topic to keep at the forefront of
discussion because it affects the quality of education that students receive and, subsequently, the
future of the United States. It is crucial for the United States to enhance student performance in

On the side of experience, Cole says it can be argued that nowadays everyone seems to have a or
