Why Did The Sputnik Launch Of Space
Five, Four, Three, Two, One, We have lift off of the Sputnik I, on January 4, 1958 the Soviet Union launched a program called Sputnik. Sputnik
launched the start of the space age. The launch intimidated other countries especially the U.S. because of the rising tensions with the cold war and they
wanted to be smarter, make more advancements, and discoveries; they also realised that if they could launch a satellite they could definitely launch an
atomic bomb. Sputnik was about 10 times the size of the first U.S. Satellite, The U.S. government, military, and scientific community were all caught
off–guard. The Soviet Sputnik organisation had 4 satellites, 3 of them reached Earth Orbit.("sputnik."–Windows) Sputnik is the name of a series of

Sputnik could transmit radio signals to Earth strong enough to be picked up by average radio stations. Sputnik 1 was the size of a beach ball, it
weighed about 184 pounds and orbited in about 98 minutes, It traveled 3 months and 43.5 million miles before Sputnik fell back to the Earth on
January 4th, 1958 On November 3rd, 1957 Sputnik 2 was launched("Sputnik Launched" History), Sputnik 2 weighed 1120 lbs and was launched on
November 3rd 1957 it contained scientific tools to measure space radiation, they saw evidence in Earth's radiation belt but they didn't publish the
results. It had a dog as a passenger named Laika who lived there for 7 days until she ran out of oxygen and underwent stress and heat.("Mice, flies,
cats, dogs and monkeys: the hist. Of animals in space") Sputnik 3 was supposed to be the first satellite, named object–d, it was a big laboratory with 12
experiments to measure outer space conditions.("Sputnik: 50 years ago."). The last Sputnik launch was on May 15th, 1958, it orbited almost 2 years,

What Happened In The 1940's
Have you ever wondered what event happened in the 1940's that had the biggest effect on the United States? Have you ever wanted to know more
about the attack on Pearl Harbor? In the 1940's the attack on Pearl Harbor forced the United States into a war. When the Japanese bombed Pearl
Harbor in the 1940's it changed the United States in many ways.
There are many events that happened in the 1940's including the attack on Pearl Harbor. For example, "The Great Depression and World War II cast
long shadows over American life in the 1940s." (The 1940's 1). This shows that many horrible events happened in the 1940's. The attack on Pearl
Harbor was an addition to World War II. In addition, "The late 1940s marked the beginning of the Cold War. Fear of... Show more content on

The ships were being destroyed, "during the Pearl Harbor attack, there were 96 ships anchored. 18 either sunk or were seriously damaged. 8 of
them were battleships" (Barker 47). Japan did lots of damage to ships that were anchored, many others were also damaged but not as bad. The U.S.
had to figure out a way to get those ships back for the war. Also many planes were destroyed "Ninety–four navy and 65 army planes were destroyed
and many others damaged" (McComas 90). The attack was not only with ships, but also with many planes. There were actually about the same amount
of planes as there were boats. The ships sent from Japan were "six carriers, eleven destroyers, two battleships, two heavy cruisers, one light cruiser,
three submarines and eight supporting

Narrative Essay About Being Bored
I am so bored. I have nothing to do and the voices are not nice. They whisper in my ears and tell me to do bad things. They keep telling me that
they are not real and just to ignore them. But it's hard and they get so loud. I couldn't tune they out and in the end I just gave in. After that I felt
better and I embraced them. I was so happy until they caught me. They called me a monster and that I was a demon. Many people couldn't believe
that I did those horrendous acts since of how I looked but looks can be deceiving. It was funny that they called me the devil and how I look didn't match
how I acted. I remember when they asked me in court if I had any last words before I am sent away. I looked them straight at the camera and said,
"The Devil is real, and he is not a little red man with horns and a tail. He can be beautiful. Because he's a fallen angel and he used to be God's
favorite." My laugh echoed through the courtroom and and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since we are they scum of the earth they people don't care what happens to us. The government uses us as human test subjects since they rather not

was crying and screaming. The very air has screams smeared on it. It was so overwhelming that you couldn't even make out what they are saying.
Each door we passed had some creature in it. It didn't look human anymore and if it did then they had lost their mind. Some were clawing their
skin off, rocking back and forth in the corner, and some even looked as if they are being starved. They have deformed bones and discolored skin.
They look as if they are a monster from those horror movies. Which is ironic since we were sent here because they said we were monsters. Now our
inside match our outside. What they are doing to us is monstrous and what they created was a

Creative Writing: Border Of Munich
Forced to use the little amount of energy I had left to tread through the border of Munich. I wasn't alone. Others like me labored to walk to an
unwanted destination. I watched as the sun fixed upon us. Drips of sweat glittered like diamonds as they slid down our temple taking away more
energy that we did not have to give. It was a struggle to get a decent breath of air as I was surrounded by a race of Jews. I felt bitter and powerless
knowing that I was a part of this undesired race.

He pointed again but this time with his whip whilst shouting 'Hey, girl, what are you doing? Get out of there.' Liesel was still refusing to leave I was
scared for her as I watched the guard grab Liesel by the collar and drag her out of the swamp of Jews. Sorrow was strongly pasted on Max's face
and he watched Liesel disappear. Nor could I see the sweet pale girl. The sorrow on Max's face until she appeared again this time she looked as
though all she wanted to do was hug Max and take him home with her but myself and the hundred other jews around Max and Liesel knew that
while Hitler is still in power that will be the last thing that happens. The second time was worse that guard was flaming red as he stomped towards
Liesel, she yelped as the guard grabbed her by the arm and threw her on the pavement, I could she Max was angry and wanted to do something to

Difference and Similarites in the reaction to Duncan's...
When two people are in the same situation one would assume that their reactions would be similar in nature. However, each person has his or her own
unique personality traits and emotions, which are reflected in their response to the event. One can see the distinct personality of each character in his
/her response. This is clearly illustrated through Duncan's murder in Shakespeare's play, Macbeth. In Act II, scene ii, both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth
initially seem to respond in a similar manner, however as the scene progresses the diverse reactions are quite easily observed as one character becomes
more decisive and the other more distressed.
As Macbeth leaves the hall to kill Duncan, Lady Macbeth enters, remarking on her boldness.
"That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She on the other hand bravely decides to go to the guards and smear Duncan's blood on them, which is very risky.
Following the murder, feelings of guilt begin to disturb Macbeth. After looking at his own hands Macbeth says, "This is a sorry sight". When Macbeth
looks at his bloody hands he acts completely shaken and does not believe they belong to him and seems completely traumatized by his own actions.
The sight of Duncan's blood cannot help but make Macbeth feel guilty about the brutal murder he has just committed; therefore saying it was a sorry
sight. However, Macbeth's true remorse is portrayed through the last line in the scene.
"Wake Duncan with thy knocking! I would thou couldst!" (II. ii. 74)
Macbeth shows he truly regretted his actions by wishing Duncan could once again be alive. Only one with true remorse would wish they could undo
what they have done.
Lady Macbeth does not share this regret. In fact she even tries to sway Macbeth so he does not focus on his guilt either. After Macbeth says, "this
is a sorry sight" Lady Macbeth replies, "A foolish thought to say a sorry sight." Here Lady Macbeth is chastising Macbeth for feeling guilty. She
obviously does not feel the slightest bit of remorse otherwise she would agree the blood was indeed a sorry sight. As well, Lady Macbeth leads her
husband back to the bedchamber, where he

Short Story: Crimson Arrow
Valyn walked slowly behind Val as they neared the citadel of judgement, the home of the fallen gods justicars in the city. The architect of the
citadel obviously designed it with nothing but inspiring fear and dread in those who gazed upon it. It was built mainly of darkened stone with tall
sharp angles deisgned to drag your eye up the building to its top that stood proudly above the rest of the city. He and Val stood alongside a tavern
that was located across the central plaza from the citadel. The plaza was a main gathering place for market stalls for local merchants and farmers
to sell their wares. Large groups of citizens sat around the central fountain eating roasted meat taken from stalls and just taking a lazy stroll through
the town. He thought to himself that it was so surreal that underneath this venear was the beating heart of the most vile force in the world. Scattered
about the throngs of people stood justicars learing at walkerbys and eyeing all as if guilty of some crime. Shaking his head at how far the illustrious
order had fallen he turned to his brother whose eyes roamed restlessly for threats. "The security is tight there are several wards placed merely five
steps from us that will trigger whenever an enemy of the church breaks the field. Is your faith in the others justified their is the most important part of

King Archibald Remus: A Short Story
I was still in shock the whole day. Even though I knew for as long as I could remember that I was different, that something wasn't the same about
me. But now in the middle of the enormous blue parade set especially for me, I couldn't fully wrap my mind around it. The powers I was supposed
to get when I turned eighteen appeared on schedule, check. My eyes are a weird amber goldish, my hair is a light auburn like the prophecy said
they should be. Check. And yet, it still felt surreal as I shook hands with the reverent King Archibald Remus. The man that I've lived under in the
Nation of Regali my whole life with whom I'm now almost equal. Still numb as I knelt down before said King as he titled me the destined Chosen and
my rank became surpassed only by the King himself.

going to die here. These poor men are going to die because of who I am. Some of those men probably are dead already, if we could just stop the
smoke keep it from coming in. My throat hurt and I covered my mouth trying to breathe more oxygen in than smoke. It didn't help. I felt a ball of
something warm inside me well up and realized it was my power just like when it first appeared a few days ago. Hope surged as I thought of how
now I could help us I could stop this. But as I kept pulling at it trying to make something come out anything useful at all, it would quickly snap back

Escape From Sobibor : Movie Review
Escape from Sobibor was a movie created in 1987 based on a true story. The movie is based in 1942–1943 and tells the story of how the biggest and
most successful revolt came about. Sobibor is a death camp running during World War 2. Esther Raab, a Sobibor Holocaust survivor explained
Sobibor as, "You see our ca– the other camps were half slave labor, and half death camp. There was no such thing as slave labor camp.... Sobibor
was just a death camp" (Holocaustresearchproject.org, Esther Raab). To my surprise, the movie was extremely similar to the actual events that
took place in the Sobibor revolt. The movie was based on real survivors and real prisoners of war. During the first 15 minutes of the movie were
are new transports arriving at Sobibor death camp. There are many many people stuffed inside of these train cars with no food or water for days on
end. Upon arriving at the concentration camp other prisoners help the new arrivers off the train cars and tell them they can pick up their luggage
once they enter the camp. They are than split up by men and women, elders and children. If we knew a trade you were asked then to step forward,
whether it be a seamstress, shoemaker, goldsmith. All other people who could not work would be sent to another location to take showers, which later
we find out they were murdered from the gas. In the movie, they made getting off the train cars a very calm scene, when in reality people were being
whipped and beaten the moment they got off.

Bronze Halberd: A Short Story
As the City Clock struck ten last night, Lorenzo made his way from the Bronze Halberd's chapter house, and to his second home at the border of the
Old God's District. However, things would take a very sour twist when the House Staff saw that he wasn't alone... As the Halberd member in
uniform, Daniel de Blouscheur, became seen by the servants, the doorman knocked on the door. Suddenly, the windows shot open, and clay balls of
obscura were dropped down as escaping men closely followed. They used the cloud of obscura and the dark of the night to flee, taking advantage of
the distance between them and the approaching homeowner and guard. "He gave the signal! We've being robbed!" a house steward shouted at one of
the guards at the entrance, which then proceeded to pull his baton on the doorman. That's when, out of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the turncoat house guard and doorman escaped in the same direction the robbers had. He knew there was no time for interrogations, let alone a
chase in vain. He had been given an assignment, and that was to inspect he house. He needed to stop the fire in order to do so. But as he went

reserves as fuel before they left in order to create a distraction. A barrel of rainwater was not too far, but it did little to drown the flames. As the heat
intensified, Daniel thought of turning back, but caught glimpse of Lorenzo's office. He rushed inside, as time was running out. The house staff had

Examples Of Fair Minded Critical Thinking
I believe I am the fair–minded critical thinker in both my personal and professional life. I believe a person needs to think logically and fairly to be
successful. Fair–minded thinking involves being open–minded and presenting well thought out plans. Everyone might not agree with you but if you
have done your research and provided sound explanations to support your decision others are more apt to support your rationale. Last academic year,
the financial aid team had made the decision not to package Stafford loans as we are one of the few schools that monitor loan indebtedness. Many
students did not read the literature provided indicating they needed to contact the school if they wanted to be considered for loan funds, therefore, being

Captain Keith Mallory, the main character of the book is introduced. Chosen by Captain Jensen, he is to lead a sabotage mission into the fortress on
the island of Navarone, occupied by Germans, and destroy the two guns in it, the guns of Navarone. The guns need to be destroyed so that ships can
evacuate the island of Kheros, which is close to Navarone. Because of the guns, the navy vessels are unable to approach Kheros without taking heavy
casualties. Numerous attacks on Navarone have been unsuccessful and the sabotage mission is the last option to destroy the guns. The plan is for

Summary Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell
This chapter from Blink by Malcolm Gladwell provides some very intriguing points on how we as consumers perceive images and how this can
differ from the way developers and experts do. One of the things that truly caught my eye when I was reading this chapter was the last section
called the gift of expertise. In this passage the author talks mostly about having lunch with two expert taste testers and how their experience with
food differs from the average person. He goes on to relate this to the business world and how experts in their field can tend to lack the awareness of
the empathy to see a product or service in the eyes of the consumer or the average person. For me personally, I have had similar problems with this
mentality. While no expert

Desegregation In Schools In The 1950's
Throughout the late nineteen fifties and sixties, during the civil rights movement, segregation was still prevalent in public schools. It was still
uncommon for schools to be integrated even after the passing of the Fourteenth Amendment and the Supreme Court case in 1954 that resulted in a vote
to end racial segregation in public schools after the hearing in Brown v. Board of Education (PBS). In Little Rock, Arkansas, the fight to integrate their
public schools was just beginning. The Little Rock Nine became major advocates of desegregating schools and enforcing the new law on desegregation

because they endured discrimination, bullying, and abuse during their time at Central High. Their bravery began to show on their very first day of

was amazed. Andrew walked up to the lamp, picked it up, and rubbed it to clean the dust off; not knowing what would happen if he rubbed it.
Suddenly, steam started rising from the front of the lamp. Amazingly, pictures started to form in the steam. First, it showed his family, weeping and
crying because Andrew had left. Second, it showed many guards looking for him. Then a voice behind Andrew declared, "Will you return?""Yes,"
replied Andrew, "I will." As soon as he reached the small kingdom he immediately asked everyone for forgiveness, and everyone forgave him.

Pearl Harbor Intelligence Failure Essay
The intelligence failures at Pearl Harbor influenced the National Security Act of 1947 by showing the need for a new structure within the government.
According to O'Toole (2014), as a result, the National Security Act of 1947 led to the creation of the Department of Defense which aligned all military
services under the Secretary of Defense, it also created the National Security Council and created the Central Intelligence Agency as an independent
agency reporting to no one other than the President. One of the most important parts was the CIA reporting directly to the President.During Pearl
Harbor, the failure wasn't in the lack of information, but the failure was in the one mindedness of the Navy. According to O'Toole (2014), they were
stuck on the idea that the Japanese couldn't attack due to the thought that their base was impenetrable. When you look at the way things were set up
after the National Security Act of 1947, the structure would not allow for something like this to happen again. For instance, when the intelligence was

Essay On Torture Of Prisoners
Torture of Prisoners
The way prisoners are being tortured today is still the same as it was before it has not changed one bit. Some prisoners still think about how the
guards would keep them up all night and wouldn't let them sleep by playing loud music. Other prisoners think about how the guards would surround
them with attacking dogs in a corner of the cell. There are some prisoners who have been very affected by the way the guards tortured them.
This was an issue because prisoners would sometimes die due to how cruel the guards would torture them in their cells. Also other prisoners would
commit suicide because they couldn't handle the torture any. Many people are affected with how the prisoners are being treated in the prison but the
prisoners are the ones who are most affected because they are the ones who are living the torture. The first place that began the prisoners torture was in

Even though most prisons are very secure, they are nowhere near how secure Alcatraz was when it was open. Alcatraz was a strict, high security
federal prison that's located on Alcatraz Island, in San Francisco Bay, California. While Alcatraz was open escapee Frank Lee Morris was one of the
very few who had attempted to escape and he supposedly made it out alive.
Alcatraz was the most secure prison on the planet. The walls, ceiling, and floor were made of concrete, and the prison gates were made of some of
the strongest steel available. The island was given the nickname "The Rock" because of all the structures were made out of concrete. The island didn't

Some people who have made it out of the prison have tried to swim in the bay, but since they were accustomed to warm waters they either died of
hypothermia or drowned. If a prisoner was found escaping, they usually were put in the hole, which is a cell that has a solid door to block off all
light. The cells in the hole have no bed, no blankets, no AC which made it cold. Prisoners were not allowed to wear clothes except for boxer shorts.
A day in the life of a prisoner at Alcatraz is pretty tough. At 6:30 AM the prisoners woke up and tidied up their cells. At 6:45 they went to the mess
hall to eat breakfast. Then around 7:25 guards took the inmates to their "jobs" such as, gardening, tailoring, and laundry. They worked until 11:40
which is when the inmates had dinner, the same way as breakfast. After dinner they went back to work and had a break after two hours, then they
returned to their cells at 4:45. The final lockup was at 4:50 and lights out at 9:30. A total of 13 official counts was made every 24 hours to make
sure that all prisoners were accounted for. While the prison was open, there were only 36 inmates who tried to escape, and two of the 36 tried to
escape twice, "It's mighty good to get up and leave. This rock ain't good for nobody" (Frank Weatherman Alcatraz prisoner). Twenty

Research Paper On Police Corruption
Police Corruption
Domonique Herrera
Texas Southmost College
The criminal justice system is made up of many fundamentals. Officers need to go through a variety of procedures in the hiring process, and once
completed they need to go through a training academy. Many U.S. citizens have witnessed a broken criminal justice system throughout the years.
Citizens observe officers causing a huge attempt of corruption. Corruption is occurring worldwide and is making our law enforcement system look
unprofessional. Our criminal justice system is not all fully corrupted; only certain individuals are. Police get engaged with certain individuals and get
brained wash with the mentality of doing the wrong choices and not getting caught because they know how the system works. The majority of
law enforcement officers are competent, honest, professional, but there are some that use their license to steal and/or kill. Some police officers
are involved with drug trafficking, involving innocent people with crimes, and causing harm to our society. The cases that are mostly seen
worldwide with police corruption are due to drugs and drug trafficking. Police officers get involved with the "easy money" and believe the theory
of "I will not get caught"; it is miserable and emotional to see the United States law enforcement get caught up in these cases. "In 2012, two
corrupt cops joined forces with drug dealers and are now facing jail time; they put dozens of criminal cases in jeopardy. Officers Diaz and Patrick
Mara admitted to ripping off drug dealers of their methamphetamine during traffic stops. This was the beginning to police corruption in Kern
County."(Richard Winton) The two police officers were corrupt since a while back. "They both pleaded guilty to their charge and got punished for it.
Officer Diaz would not fully report the drugs they would find and instead would keep more than half. Officer Mara was caught selling
methamphetamine to other individuals." (Diaz and Mara admitted) Other cases they were involved in are now put under jeopardy and could possibly
be missed charged. Cops should not allow such horrific thing to occur. If they know about a corrupt cop they should immediately report it. People and

The Role Of Monsters In Beowulf
A monster is usually some otherworldly or beast like creature who wants nothing to do with anything but destruction, death, treasure, etc.. This was
noticed about Grendel, his mother & the dragon from the epic, Beowulf. The question that arises then, where do these monsters lurk? They lie in dark
places, away from the civilized part of society in caves, marshes, barren areas and come out only when the time is right to strike terror on innocent
people. Imaginary monsters are definitely present as well, even though they are not physically visible to everyone. These are the personal monsters, the
ones that lurk in one's head or conscious to internally cause damage. When finally feeling the most safe is when monsters are more likely to

To The Mountaintop Summary
While reading To the Mountaintop by Stewart Burns, I was caught off guard when I learned about the amount of segregation rallies that took place
during this time. I think that I was caught off guard when I learned about this because whenever the topics of segregation and desegregation, MLK,
and racism come up, no one really speaks about the segregation rallies. I didn't think that the white people had gotten together in big masses like
what the African Americans had done in order to fight for what they believed in. I had always just thought that the white people were flexible with
what was going on and acted more on the individual level than at the group level. When I was reading about the segregation rallies, I was shocked to
learn about what was written on the flyers that were handed out. Burns describes the flyers as, "...that declared war on black people, in the spirit of
1776. // 'When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to abolish the Negro race, proper methods should be used. Among these are guns,
bows and arrows, sling shot and knives. We hold these truths to be self–evident that all whites are created equal with certain rights; among these are
life, liberty and the pursuit of dead n*ggers" (Burns 65). These couple of lines really stood out to me because it really shows how much the white

Common Core State Standards Initiative Caught Parents And...
Common Core: A Worthy Opponent
INTRODUCTION:
Common Core State Standards Initiative caught parents and teachers off guard alike. Not many truly understand that concerns, consequences, and
underlying issues that surround Common Core. It wasn't until children were venting their concerns, teachers were frustrated with the statistics
undermining their duties, and parents questioning Common Core's teaching practices – that Common Core was put under the spotlight. An
educational reconstruction sponsored by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers sought out to establish a
unified education standard that would detail what K–12 students were to know in English and Math alike. Common Core's mission is to ... Show more

It should be greatly noted that the involvement of corporate America has made its stance in education through the use of this non–profit organization. A
notable organization created by Bill Gates, "Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation", has played an extensive role in elevating Common Core's standards.
In–fact the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has given 37 grants in 2015 alone, totaling in over 42 million dollars, in an effort to implement and
promote Common Core (Strauss, 2015). Beginning in 2009, when Achieve had partnered with the National Governors Association and the Council of
Chief State School Officers to draft the Common Core standards, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation had invested nearly $10 million in grants alone
that year. Many do criticize Gate's involvement in Common Core, some teacher groups even questioning Gate's motives. Critics even piling up saying
Microsoft benefits from Common Core's use of technology and data collection, but that's something Bill Gates denies himself. In an interview with
Lyndsey Layton, Bill Gates had repeatedly renounced his position in saying "There's no connection. There's no connection to Common Core and any
Microsoft thing" (Owens, 2014). But with a multitude of large companies being involved in the development

Personal Narrative: I Am The Future Guard Of The System
I am a student in Westfield State university and in the future, I want to be an accountant. In other words a guard of the system. There is a system
that is in control by the elite. They have the power and we get rewarded small amounts for survival and end up doing what we are told. It's a cycle that
so far no one has broken, pauses were made and the elite did not like it. It's hard to go on knowing that you will be a guard or maybe is one already.
Maybe if I have not learned any of this and never read Zinn, I would of just lived on unknowingly being a guard. Its hard to be someone you're not
but it's harder to break the system. We are given jobs and promised a better life. At first it feels like the promise was kept and then when you are to...

Travelers or Assassins? Someone yelled that they saw land approaching, and the boat started to go even faster. Everyone began to work harder and
faster, eager to get on land again. By the time they got on shore it was a few hours from sunrise. Odysseus and his men did not think it was that odd
that they did not see anyone, seeing as it was barely even morning yet. They went walking around, looking for an inn to stay in for a day or two
while seeking help on their way home. All the inns they came across had 'closed' signs. This they did find a little odd. Why were they all closed? Did
they all fill up? Is there some big event going on? They started paying more attention to where they were, trying to figure out why all the inns might...

Was there a murder? The English–speaking guard and the captain started to walk back over to the group. Odysseus hurried over to meet them. When
Odysseus rushed towards them they immediately put their hands to their weapons. Instinctively loyal Odysseus' men (epithet) ran over to defend him,
and the guards, like eager–to–please guard dogs (simile) ran forward to protect their captain. Odysseus got angry. Why were they not helping him?
Why were they so defensive. They had done nothing wrong. Some of his men and the guards were yelling at each other, and fights were breaking
out. In the commotion, Odysseus looked up and saw men on the roof of the palace, they had guns pointed towards the men. At first he thought they
might be more guards, but when he took a closer look he could see they wore different uniforms. He could not see clearly enough to read the patches
on their uniforms, but it looked like they said 'O.A.S.' Everyone else was caught up in fights and arguments, and did not see them. (hero trait – he

that Odysseus was attempting to distract him. At that moment Athena (goddess) came as one of the French guards shouting "Assassiner! Assassiner!"

Symbolism In A Hanging By George Orwell
By examining George Orwell's short story, A Hanging, one can see that the symbolism of the unexpected canine, and the symbolic action of stepping
around a puddle can illustrate the importance of each individual life. To start off, it is evident in the story that the presence of an animal was not a
common occurrence within the walls of the prison. As the narrator observed the prisoner due to be hanged, he saw that he was not much more than a
Hindu man approaching death. But unexpectedly, a joyous dog appeared and approached the scene of people and went straight for that Hindu man. It's
love and attention for the prisoner put everyone around them in shock, as the action began to humanize and be rid the anonymity that the prisoner's life

The realization of the catastrophic deeds being carried through to be rid those full, healthy lives reinstated the narrator's morality for that short period
of time. The immediate transition of thoughts is clearly demonstrated when the narrator states, "It is curious, but till that moment I had never realized
what it means to destroy a healthy, conscious man. When I saw the prisoner step aside to avoid the puddle, I saw the mystery, the unspeakable
wrongness, of cutting a life short when it is in full tide" (Orwell 2). If it were not for the prisoner caring about such a miniscule act, the sensitization
towards the prejudice murders being committed would not have occurred as strongly to the narrator. The 'unspeakable wrongness of cutting a life short
when it is in full tide' developed his understanding of the wrongdoing behind the negative imperialistic environment that surrounds him. This
emphasizes to the reader how a slight reaction that is often dismissed, can symbolize the deeper value of a 'healthy, conscious man' having enough
dignity left to avoid such a small mishap like stepping in a

A Short Story : A Story?
While standing outside your front door, preparing to walk to school, someone called out your name. Looking up, you saw an apricot haired male
running towards you, arms waving above his head. It didn't take you long to realize it was your neighbor and childhood friend, Shiori. He stopped
before you, gasping for air with his hands clutching your shoulders for support.
"I might've overslept again, but I caught you this time!"
He flashed you a playful smile, one that made your heart skip a beat. This had been the first time in a while that you had seen the energetic boy, let
alone so up close. You couldn't help but take in his appearance, noticing how you came up to his chin in height and how expressive his eyes were as

"Maybe, but only because I decided to wait for you."
Shiori briefly pouted before taking your hand in his as he began to cross the street, pulling you along beside him. There was a comfortable silence
between the two of you as you both made your way to school. The streets were filled with students on their daily commute, some walking in groups and
others as couples. A few returned your gaze and went back to conversing amongst themselves, others continued to watch as you walked by.

Sociological Factors Of Managing The Broader Public And...
A know–do gap is described as the disconnect between knowing what to do in any given circumstance or situation, and turning that knowledge into
action. The process of turning that knowledge into action is referred to as knowledge translation, and is a significant focus of this paper. Much of the
know–do gap literature centers around the difficulties faced by businesses in achieving adequate knowledge translation. However, some of this
information has useful applications for governments in encouraging individuals and families to prepare for emergencies. In The Knowing–Doing Gap,
Jeffrey Pfeffer and Robert Sutton examine some of the sociological factors of managing people and how to ensure they turn knowledge into action.
These sociological factors offer insight into effective methods of managing the broader public and their level of emergency preparedness. I will
discuss how one of their theories can motivate people to take action to ensure they are prepared. Similarly, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research
(CIHR) has conducted considerable research on ways to ensure successful knowledge translation (again, the process of turning knowledge into action).
This research is not necessarily specific to emergency preparedness, but provides some usefulness for emergency managers when convincing the public
to take concrete steps to increase their level of emergency preparedness. Relevant ideas from the CIHR include: involving the end–user in the process,

Rendition Of A Single Day
In One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, Alexander Solzhenitsyn portrays the fictional rendition of a single day's conflicts for a Zek within a Stalinist
labor camp. Conflict aids the novel by allowing the reader to better understand the endeavors the prisoners experience. To express the conditions within
the gulags, Solzhenitsyn shows how Ivan survives his agonizing daily tasks. From working through frigid temperatures to trudging through the
surroundings of snow and ice, Ivan and the other prisoners labor through the harsh elements with their minimal strength in order to complete their
assigned duty. Another conflict occurs by the Zeks against each other. Distrust runs high, makinggulag life more difficult. The men also commonly ...

(Solzhenitsyn 23). Illness is inevitable in the despairing weather conditions and lack of proper health care. The men begin to lose hope in living, and
neglect their assigned tasks. Man vs. nature conflict signifies the recurring weather conditions the men battle through. This conflicting aspect has the
most impactful effect on the Zeks because the cold temperatures and frozen precipitation weaken them, increasingly by the hour. Weather clashes with
them at all times because they are not given proper shelter. The conditions in the bunks are near what it is like out in the elements, therefore they do
not have a place to return for their bodies to recover and gain heat. Because the men are not able to cope in the freezing weather, their bodies begin to
shut down. The repeated exposure increasingly weakens and kills off many of the Zeks. Therefore, the most prominent form of conflict is through man
vs. nature, which creates the most immense battle within the novel, forcing the laborers to fight daily for their lives. In addition to man vs. nature,
another form of conflict Solzhenitsyn places throughout the book is man vs. man. Due to the extreme conditions and savagery that arises from the lack
of proper supplies and living quarters, the men selfishly only think of themselves or their

The Red Badge Of Courage Character Analysis
"The Red Badge of Courage," by Stephen Crane, describes several conflicts that occur when Henry Fleming joins the army. Henry's reason for
joining the army is not necessarily a noble reason though. Something Henry really focuses on is 'reputation'; he feels that performing impressively
on the battlefield will automatically make him a hero. After getting through his first battle, he feels content with himself. Ironically, the second time
around, Henry flees from the battlefield. The question is: why does Henry flee the second time? During the beginning of the story you see a
nervous side of Henry. He fears he will become a coward during his first battle and also worries that he might not be able to handle the pressure like
the other men. The first battle is when Henry somewhat proves to himself that he can actually be a part of a team. The narrator states, "He became not
a man but a member. He felt that something of which he was a part –a regiment, an army, a cause, or a country –was in a crisis. He was welded into a
common personality which was dominated by a single desire." (pg. 31) Henry realizes he can do very little on his own, but as a "brotherhood" he feels

Why Did The Sputnik Launch Of Space

  • 1. Why Did The Sputnik Launch Of Space Five, Four, Three, Two, One, We have lift off of the Sputnik I, on January 4, 1958 the Soviet Union launched a program called Sputnik. Sputnik launched the start of the space age. The launch intimidated other countries especially the U.S. because of the rising tensions with the cold war and they wanted to be smarter, make more advancements, and discoveries; they also realised that if they could launch a satellite they could definitely launch an atomic bomb. Sputnik was about 10 times the size of the first U.S. Satellite, The U.S. government, military, and scientific community were all caught off–guard. The Soviet Sputnik organisation had 4 satellites, 3 of them reached Earth Orbit.("sputnik."–Windows) Sputnik is the name of a series of satellites... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It had a dog as a passenger named Laika who lived there for 7 days until she ran out of oxygen and underwent stress and heat.("Mice, flies, cats, dogs and monkeys: the hist. Of animals in space") Sputnik 3 was supposed to be the first satellite, named object–d, it was a big laboratory with 12 experiments to measure outer space conditions.("Sputnik: 50 years ago."). The last Sputnik launch was on May 15th, 1958, it orbited almost 2 years, it was supposed to be a space laboratory to study the radiation belt and Earth's magnetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. What Happened In The 1940's Have you ever wondered what event happened in the 1940's that had the biggest effect on the United States? Have you ever wanted to know more about the attack on Pearl Harbor? In the 1940's the attack on Pearl Harbor forced the United States into a war. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in the 1940's it changed the United States in many ways. There are many events that happened in the 1940's including the attack on Pearl Harbor. For example, "The Great Depression and World War II cast long shadows over American life in the 1940s." (The 1940's 1). This shows that many horrible events happened in the 1940's. The attack on Pearl Harbor was an addition to World War II. In addition, "The late 1940s marked the beginning of the Cold War. Fear of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ships were being destroyed, "during the Pearl Harbor attack, there were 96 ships anchored. 18 either sunk or were seriously damaged. 8 of them were battleships" (Barker 47). Japan did lots of damage to ships that were anchored, many others were also damaged but not as bad. The U.S. had to figure out a way to get those ships back for the war. Also many planes were destroyed "Ninety–four navy and 65 army planes were destroyed and many others damaged" (McComas 90). The attack was not only with ships, but also with many planes. There were actually about the same amount of planes as there were boats. The ships sent from Japan were "six carriers, eleven destroyers, two battleships, two heavy cruisers, one light cruiser, three submarines and eight supporting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Narrative Essay About Being Bored I am so bored. I have nothing to do and the voices are not nice. They whisper in my ears and tell me to do bad things. They keep telling me that they are not real and just to ignore them. But it's hard and they get so loud. I couldn't tune they out and in the end I just gave in. After that I felt better and I embraced them. I was so happy until they caught me. They called me a monster and that I was a demon. Many people couldn't believe that I did those horrendous acts since of how I looked but looks can be deceiving. It was funny that they called me the devil and how I look didn't match how I acted. I remember when they asked me in court if I had any last words before I am sent away. I looked them straight at the camera and said, "The Devil is real, and he is not a little red man with horns and a tail. He can be beautiful. Because he's a fallen angel and he used to be God's favorite." My laugh echoed through the courtroom and and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since we are they scum of the earth they people don't care what happens to us. The government uses us as human test subjects since they rather not use sane people. It was so overwhelming that you couldn't even make out what they are saying. Each door we passed had some creature in it. It didn't look human anymore and if it did then they had lost their mind. Some were clawing their skin off, rocking back and forth in the corner, and some even looked as if they are being starved. They have deformed bones and discolored skin. They look as if they are a monster from those horror movies. Which is ironic since we were sent here because they said we were monsters. Now our inside match our outside. • 4. Creative Writing: Border Of Munich Forced to use the little amount of energy I had left to tread through the border of Munich. I wasn't alone. Others like me labored to walk to an unwanted destination. I watched as the sun fixed upon us. Drips of sweat glittered like diamonds as they slid down our temple taking away more energy that we did not have to give. It was a struggle to get a decent breath of air as I was surrounded by a race of Jews. I felt bitter and powerless knowing that I was a part of this undesired race. He pointed again but this time with his whip whilst shouting 'Hey, girl, what are you doing? Get out of there.' Liesel was still refusing to leave I was scared for her as I watched the guard grab Liesel by the collar and drag her out of the swamp of Jews. Sorrow was strongly pasted on Max's face and he watched Liesel disappear. Nor could I see the sweet pale girl. The sorrow on Max's face until she appeared again this time she looked as though all she wanted to do was hug Max and take him home with her but myself and the hundred other jews around Max and Liesel knew that while Hitler is still in power that will be the last thing that happens. The second time was worse that guard was flaming red as he stomped towards Liesel, she yelped as the guard grabbed her by the arm and threw her on the pavement, I could she Max was angry and wanted to do something to help but he knew he couldn't. • 5. Difference and Similarites in the reaction to Duncan's... When two people are in the same situation one would assume that their reactions would be similar in nature. However, each person has his or her own unique personality traits and emotions, which are reflected in their response to the event. One can see the distinct personality of each character in his /her response. This is clearly illustrated through Duncan's murder in Shakespeare's play, Macbeth. In Act II, scene ii, both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth initially seem to respond in a similar manner, however as the scene progresses the diverse reactions are quite easily observed as one character becomes more decisive and the other more distressed. When Macbeth looks at his bloody hands he acts completely shaken and does not believe they belong to him and seems completely traumatized by his own actions. The sight of Duncan's blood cannot help but make Macbeth feel guilty about the brutal murder he has just committed; therefore saying it was a sorry sight. However, Macbeth's true remorse is portrayed through the last line in the scene. "Wake Duncan with thy knocking! I would thou couldst!" (II. ii. 74) Macbeth shows he truly regretted his actions by wishing Duncan could once again be alive. Only one with true remorse would wish they could undo what they have done. Lady Macbeth does not share this regret. In fact she even tries to sway Macbeth so he does not focus on his guilt either. After Macbeth says, "this is a sorry sight" Lady Macbeth replies, "A foolish thought to say a sorry sight." Here Lady Macbeth is chastising Macbeth for feeling guilty. She obviously does not feel the slightest bit of remorse otherwise she would agree the blood was indeed a sorry sight. As well, Lady Macbeth leads her husband back to the bedchamber, where he

  • 7. Short Story: Crimson Arrow Valyn walked slowly behind Val as they neared the citadel of judgement, the home of the fallen gods justicars in the city. The architect of the citadel obviously designed it with nothing but inspiring fear and dread in those who gazed upon it. It was built mainly of darkened stone with tall sharp angles deisgned to drag your eye up the building to its top that stood proudly above the rest of the city. He and Val stood alongside a tavern that was located across the central plaza from the citadel. The plaza was a main gathering place for market stalls for local merchants and farmers to sell their wares. Large groups of citizens sat around the central fountain eating roasted meat taken from stalls and just taking a lazy stroll through the town. He thought to himself that it was so surreal that underneath this venear was the beating heart of the most vile force in the world. Scattered about the throngs of people stood justicars learing at walkerbys and eyeing all as if guilty of some crime. Shaking his head at how far the illustrious order had fallen he turned to his brother whose eyes roamed restlessly for threats. "The security is tight there are several wards placed merely five steps from us that will trigger whenever an enemy of the church breaks the field. But now in the middle of the enormous blue parade set especially for me, I couldn't fully wrap my mind around it. The powers I was supposed to get when I turned eighteen appeared on schedule, check. My eyes are a weird amber goldish, my hair is a light auburn like the prophecy said they should be. Check. And yet, it still felt surreal as I shook hands with the reverent King Archibald Remus. The man that I've lived under in the Nation of Regali my whole life with whom I'm now almost equal. Some of those men probably are dead already, if we could just stop the smoke keep it from coming in. My throat hurt and I covered my mouth trying to breathe more oxygen in than smoke. It didn't help. I felt a ball of something warm inside me well up and realized it was my power just like when it first appeared a few days ago. Hope surged as I thought of how now I could help us I could stop this. • 9. Escape From Sobibor : Movie Review Escape from Sobibor was a movie created in 1987 based on a true story. The movie is based in 1942–1943 and tells the story of how the biggest and most successful revolt came about. Sobibor is a death camp running during World War 2. Esther Raab, a Sobibor Holocaust survivor explained Sobibor as, "You see our ca– the other camps were half slave labor, and half death camp. There was no such thing as slave labor camp.... Sobibor was just a death camp" (Holocaustresearchproject.org, Esther Raab). To my surprise, the movie was extremely similar to the actual events that took place in the Sobibor revolt. The movie was based on real survivors and real prisoners of war. During the first 15 minutes of the movie were are new transports arriving at Sobibor death camp. There are many many people stuffed inside of these train cars with no food or water for days on end. Upon arriving at the concentration camp other prisoners help the new arrivers off the train cars and tell them they can pick up their luggage once they enter the camp. They are than split up by men and women, elders and children. If we knew a trade you were asked then to step forward, whether it be a seamstress, shoemaker, goldsmith. All other people who could not work would be sent to another location to take showers, which later we find out they were murdered from the gas. In the movie, they made getting off the train cars a very calm scene, when in reality people were being whipped and beaten the moment they got off. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, things would take a very sour twist when the House Staff saw that he wasn't alone... As the Halberd member in uniform, Daniel de Blouscheur, became seen by the servants, the doorman knocked on the door. Suddenly, the windows shot open, and clay balls of obscura were dropped down as escaping men closely followed. They used the cloud of obscura and the dark of the night to flee, taking advantage of the distance between them and the approaching homeowner and guard. "He gave the signal! Summary Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell This chapter from Blink by Malcolm Gladwell provides some very intriguing points on how we as consumers perceive images and how this can differ from the way developers and experts do. One of the things that truly caught my eye when I was reading this chapter was the last section called the gift of expertise. In this passage the author talks mostly about having lunch with two expert taste testers and how their experience with food differs from the average person. He goes on to relate this to the business world and how experts in their field can tend to lack the awareness of the empathy to see a product or service in the eyes of the consumer or the average person. For me personally, I have had similar problems with this mentality. While no expert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Officers need to go through a variety of procedures in the hiring process, and once completed they need to go through a training academy. Many U.S. citizens have witnessed a broken criminal justice system throughout the years. Citizens observe officers causing a huge attempt of corruption. Corruption is occurring worldwide and is making our law enforcement system look unprofessional. Our criminal justice system is not all fully corrupted; only certain individuals are. Police get engaged with certain individuals and get brained wash with the mentality of doing the wrong choices and not getting caught because they know how the system works. The majority of law enforcement officers are competent, honest, professional, but there are some that use their license to steal and/or kill. Some police officers are involved with drug trafficking, involving innocent people with crimes, and causing harm to our society. The cases that are mostly seen worldwide with police corruption are due to drugs and drug trafficking. Police officers get involved with the "easy money" and believe the theory of "I will not get caught"; it is miserable and emotional to see the United States law enforcement get caught up in these cases. "In 2012, two corrupt cops joined forces with drug dealers and are now facing jail time; they put dozens of criminal cases in jeopardy. Officers Diaz and Patrick Mara admitted to ripping off drug dealers of their methamphetamine during traffic stops. This was the beginning to police corruption in Kern County."(Richard Winton) The two police officers were corrupt since a while back. "They both pleaded guilty to their charge and got punished for it. Officer Diaz would not fully report the drugs they would find and instead would keep more than half. Officer Mara was caught selling methamphetamine to other individuals." (Diaz and Mara admitted) Other cases they were involved in are now put under jeopardy and could possibly be missed charged. I think that I was caught off guard when I learned about this because whenever the topics of segregation and desegregation, MLK, and racism come up, no one really speaks about the segregation rallies. I didn't think that the white people had gotten together in big masses like what the African Americans had done in order to fight for what they believed in. I had always just thought that the white people were flexible with what was going on and acted more on the individual level than at the group level. When I was reading about the segregation rallies, I was shocked to learn about what was written on the flyers that were handed out. Burns describes the flyers as, "...that declared war on black people, in the spirit of 1776. // 'When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to abolish the Negro race, proper methods should be used. Among these are guns, bows and arrows, sling shot and knives. We hold these truths to be self–evident that all whites are created equal with certain rights; among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of dead n*ggers" (Burns 65). If that doesn't earn him a Medal of Honor then no one should get it. In 1939 Oskar acquired an enamelware and ammunition factory. When it came time to hire people to work in his factory Oskar hired Jews because they would make him more money. • 36. Symbolism In A Hanging By George Orwell By examining George Orwell's short story, A Hanging, one can see that the symbolism of the unexpected canine, and the symbolic action of stepping around a puddle can illustrate the importance of each individual life. To start off, it is evident in the story that the presence of an animal was not a common occurrence within the walls of the prison. As the narrator observed the prisoner due to be hanged, he saw that he was not much more than a Hindu man approaching death. But unexpectedly, a joyous dog appeared and approached the scene of people and went straight for that Hindu man. It's love and attention for the prisoner put everyone around them in shock, as the action began to humanize and be rid the anonymity that the prisoner's life once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The realization of the catastrophic deeds being carried through to be rid those full, healthy lives reinstated the narrator's morality for that short period of time. The immediate transition of thoughts is clearly demonstrated when the narrator states, "It is curious, but till that moment I had never realized what it means to destroy a healthy, conscious man. When I saw the prisoner step aside to avoid the puddle, I saw the mystery, the unspeakable wrongness, of cutting a life short when it is in full tide" (Orwell 2). If it were not for the prisoner caring about such a miniscule act, the sensitization towards the prejudice murders being committed would not have occurred as strongly to the narrator. The 'unspeakable wrongness of cutting a life short when it is in full tide' developed his understanding of the wrongdoing behind the negative imperialistic environment that surrounds him. This emphasizes to the reader how a slight reaction that is often dismissed, can symbolize the deeper value of a 'healthy, conscious man' having enough dignity left to avoid such a small mishap like stepping in a ... • 37. A Short Story : A Story? While standing outside your front door, preparing to walk to school, someone called out your name. Looking up, you saw an apricot haired male running towards you, arms waving above his head. It didn't take you long to realize it was your neighbor and childhood friend, Shiori. He stopped before you, gasping for air with his hands clutching your shoulders for support. "I might've overslept again, but I caught you this time!" He flashed you a playful smile, one that made your heart skip a beat. This had been the first time in a while that you had seen the energetic boy, let alone so up close. You couldn't help but take in his appearance, noticing how you came up to his chin in height and how expressive his eyes were as they gazed into yours intently. You could feel your face begin to heat up as you pulled his hands off your shoulders and took a step back to put some much needed distance between the both of you. "Maybe, but only because I decided to wait for you." Shiori briefly pouted before taking your hand in his as he began to cross the street, pulling you along beside him. There was a comfortable silence between the two of you as you both made your way to school. The streets were filled with students on their daily commute, some walking in groups and others as couples. A few returned your gaze and went back to conversing amongst themselves, others continued to watch as you walked by. You felt a little unsettled until you remembered that Shiori was ... • 38. Sociological Factors Of Managing The Broader Public And... A know–do gap is described as the disconnect between knowing what to do in any given circumstance or situation, and turning that knowledge into action. The process of turning that knowledge into action is referred to as knowledge translation, and is a significant focus of this paper. Much of the know–do gap literature centers around the difficulties faced by businesses in achieving adequate knowledge translation. However, some of this information has useful applications for governments in encouraging individuals and families to prepare for emergencies. In The Knowing–Doing Gap, Jeffrey Pfeffer and Robert Sutton examine some of the sociological factors of managing people and how to ensure they turn knowledge into action. These sociological factors offer insight into effective methods of managing the broader public and their level of emergency preparedness. I will discuss how one of their theories can motivate people to take action to ensure they are prepared. Similarly, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has conducted considerable research on ways to ensure successful knowledge translation (again, the process of turning knowledge into action). This research is not necessarily specific to emergency preparedness, but provides some usefulness for emergency managers when convincing the public to take concrete steps to increase their level of emergency preparedness. Relevant ideas from the CIHR include: involving the end–user in the process, customizing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Rendition Of A Single Day In One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, Alexander Solzhenitsyn portrays the fictional rendition of a single day's conflicts for a Zek within a Stalinist labor camp. Conflict aids the novel by allowing the reader to better understand the endeavors the prisoners experience. To express the conditions within the gulags, Solzhenitsyn shows how Ivan survives his agonizing daily tasks. From working through frigid temperatures to trudging through the surroundings of snow and ice, Ivan and the other prisoners labor through the harsh elements with their minimal strength in order to complete their assigned duty. Another conflict occurs by the Zeks against each other. Distrust runs high, makinggulag life more difficult. The men also commonly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A murky fog wrapped itself around Shukov and made him cough painfully. The temperature out there was–17. Shukov's temperature was +99" (Solzhenitsyn 23). Illness is inevitable in the despairing weather conditions and lack of proper health care. The men begin to lose hope in living, and neglect their assigned tasks. Man vs. nature conflict signifies the recurring weather conditions the men battle through. This conflicting aspect has the most impactful effect on the Zeks because the cold temperatures and frozen precipitation weaken them, increasingly by the hour. Weather clashes with them at all times because they are not given proper shelter. The conditions in the bunks are near what it is like out in the elements, therefore they do not have a place to return for their bodies to recover and gain heat. Because the men are not able to cope in the freezing weather, their bodies begin to shut down. The repeated exposure increasingly weakens and kills off many of the Zeks. Therefore, the most prominent form of conflict is through man vs. nature, which creates the most immense battle within the novel, forcing the laborers to fight daily for their lives. In addition to man vs. nature, another form of conflict Solzhenitsyn places throughout the book is man vs. man. Due to the extreme conditions and savagery that arises from the lack of proper supplies and living quarters, the men selfishly only think of themselves or their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Corrective Detention: A Short Story As my men and I hide in the trees outside of the city and prepare for an invasion on the World Council, I recall the memory of the day I was taken to the Palace of Corrective Detention. That was the day I was lashed thousands upon thousands of times, by varieties of judges and council members. I can remember feeling the blood rolling down my back, and a feeling like none before, a feeling for which at the time I could not explain. But after reading the manuscripts that sat on the shelves of my home I discovered the name of this feeling. This feeling was pain. And that's exactly what I want those council members and judges to feel. I want to inflict the same pain they afflicted on me the day. Then International 4–8818 who we have renamed Hephaestus,... He reveals himself to the guards and runs away, then the guards chase after him. Leaving the door wide open to walk through. "Are you nervous?" Hephaestus asked. "No," I reply, "I shall not let this go on any longer. The council will fall." When we had rescued Hephaestus from the city, he began to read manuscripts on blacksmithing, and started to make weapons. These were the weapons from The Unmentionable Times. We had them equipped to our bodies and we busted through the doors. When we were inside, all the judges and council members from all sectors were there. They had halted their conversations and directed their attention to us. They were stunned at what they have seen just happened. "You all have two options." I say in an intimidating tone, "You can surrender now and turn over your city to us or I light this place on fire with all of you in it" I say this as a scare tactic because we have no ability to set a fire to this building. I hear gasps from the crowds and all the judges and council members say at once, "The Forbidden Word." Then all the doors shut, and guards fill the arches in front of the ... With the guards sleeping at their posts, it was child's play. Agile as a squirrel, he darted into the attic. Inside the room, beheld the Firebird, a majesticsun–eagle of gold. Tsar Afron was delighted, and gave him the Firebird and the golden cage as well. The prince carried the cage with the bird into the forest, seated the princess on the golden–maned horse, and rode off on his journey back to his home. Meanwhile, Tsar Kusman gave the order for the golden–maned horse to be brought to him. But when he tried to mount it the horse turned into a gray wolf. The tsar, frightened out of his wits, fell to the ground, while the gray wolf made its escape and soon met Prince Ivan. "I cannot continue with you anymore presently" the wolf informed the prince. • 42. The Red Badge Of Courage Character Analysis "The Red Badge of Courage," by Stephen Crane, describes several conflicts that occur when Henry Fleming joins the army. Henry's reason for joining the army is not necessarily a noble reason though. Something Henry really focuses on is 'reputation'; he feels that performing impressively on the battlefield will automatically make him a hero. After getting through his first battle, he feels content with himself. Ironically, the second time around, Henry flees from the battlefield. The question is: why does Henry flee the second time? During the beginning of the story you see a nervous side of Henry. He fears he will become a coward during his first battle and also worries that he might not be able to handle the pressure like the other men. The first battle is when Henry somewhat proves to himself that he can actually be a part of a team. The narrator states, "He became not a man but a member. He felt that something of which he was a part –a regiment, an army, a cause, or a country –was in a crisis. He was welded into a common personality which was dominated by a single desire." (pg. 31) Henry realizes he can do very little on his own, but as a "brotherhood" he feels confident; until caught off guard.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
