Which Instructional Design Model That I Will Use Multiple...
Which Instructional Design Model
The design model that I will use is multiple intelligences. The major goal of this theory is to foster
understanding in ways that takes advantage of the different learners' intelligences. All learners do
not learn information the same way, and instructors need to understand that they must be diverse in
their teaching to ensure that learners are able to be engaged with topics that they are teaching.
Assumptions about Multiple Intelligences
With multiple intelligence, students come to school with different educational needs. Not all
students learn the same way so as an educator, one needs to be able to teach multiple ways on a
single topic to ensure that all students have been engaged. There are multiple ways to teach a single
topic, however, Gardner focused on three approaches:
1. Entry points
2. Telling Analogies
3. Approaching the core (Reigeluth, 2013).
Entry points
To engage students in understating a topic, there are 6 entry points to consider in multiple
intelligences (Reigeluth, 2013). Not all learners are the same and as an instructor is good to
individualize your lessons to tap into students in different ways because not all learn the same way.
The following are the entry points that Howard Gardner states, however, he states that the model
that he uses is not to be considered as a learning style (Reigeluth, 2013).
Narratives is an entry point used for students who enjoy hearing topics discuss through the

Moving to Canada was the toughest days of my life. People in my country believe that my education
would be increased and I became a better person. On the contrary, not everything happened in an
instance. I have to undergo in a lot of difficulties to achieve my goals. I kept saying to myself that I
might change my mind to give up on school and become an alcoholic or a drug addicts. But, my
conscience told me to follow my dream. Difficulties I faced in Canada were orienting me to this new
place. However, the toughest one of all was the language barrier. In my country, it's mandatory to
learn English and French considering the past of colonization in my country. If I don't study those
languages in school, the government could sue my parents. Likewise Creole was my native language
which consisted of French and African words. To contrast, the English taught in my country was
insignificant compared to Canada. It put a lot of stress on me as well as my parents. But after two
years, I managed to get out of this weight. My main sourced was reading many books that were an
advised by a teacher. This definitely changed my life and overcome this shyness. After all, the fear
of failure from not having a better future and no reputation made me kept on in

Analysis Of Gardner By Richard Gardner
Gardner talks about the government through his story. In one instance one of Gardner's characters
says "Hrothgar's government punishes civilian violence as well as other crimes by using the same
violence it has prohibited, but viewing it as "legitimate" violence. The ruling class uses the same
violence it condemn to punish and control the population when they step out of line. Therefore, the
state is always in control". The government in this fictional book is not all that different from our
very own. Those who choose to lead a life of crime are punished and usually to the full extent as the
law permits. There are many murderers currently on death row awaiting the swift hand of "justice".
Our government punishes people for their actions but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No but yes. Just like the yin–yang sign. There is darkness in the light and vice versa. To a person
selling weapons in a time of war, violence is going to be a pretty gosh darn good thing to them. But
not to the men and women on are front line who pray to God as they lie in the fox hole. Can
violence be good? Heck yeah it can here is another example; a woman is getting mugged by a
mugger. A good samaritan holts the confrontation when he clocks the guy in the temple. To that
victim that was an act of heroism, but to the aggressor he found himself in handcuffs and since he
wasn't able to steel that money, he can no longer provide food for his sick wife and two children
who now have no income. What is the real tragedy here? The women who lives stabibly and can
afforded to replace a purse, or the man who wanted to feed his family and pay the rent before being

Theme Of Revenge In Beowulf
"Beowulf spoke ,son of Ecgtheow:/ 'Do not grieve, wise sir.It always better/to avenge ones friend
than mourn too much.' (Beowulf,11.1383–5)
Explain the role of mourning or revenge in Beowulf
Revenge is a central theme in Beowulf and induces many characters throughout the poem.
Initially we see the infuriation that infests Grendel and the instant revenge and destruction he
conveys upon Beowulf's kingdom.Revenge almost motivates and acts as a fuel to the fire Grendel is
experiencing .We are introduced to the character of Grendel in line 86 of the poem and we are given
an immediate explanation of what type of creature he is , a monster , a demon. 'Then a powerful
demon, a prowler through the dark nursed a hard grievance '
(Unknown,'Beowulf',lines 86–87).Grendel has a soul purpose to demolish the kingdom due to the
pain and suffering he has to live with because of the fate and heritage he was given when he ... Show

Grendles mother is another key character surrounding the theme of revenge . Personally I find the
character of Grendles mother extremely thought provoking and I found myself drawn to look into
the character in more detail.
When Grendel returns to his lair surpassingly injured this sparks the motivation of revenge within
his mother .As a character she is perceived as a monster yet in the eyes of a twenty first century
reader she is merely a woman who is grieving her sons death and retaliating towards those who
murdered him . Revenge does not have to be associated with malice and evil , as she was a woman
she was labelled 'monster' due to her rash decisions and thirst for vengeance. In the time of the
text, women were supposed to be gentle peace keepers any woman who acted out of the ordinary had
to deal with major consequences ,exile or assassination. Her revenge was not out of spite ,it was
purely fuelled by a mothers fury

Every Human Begins Their Learning Process The Day They
Every human begins their learning process the day they are born. Humans learn things every single
day, no matter how old a person is, they will still continue to learn. There are many different
techniques of learning. Everyone has their own way of comprehending certain skills. Humans begin
to adapt certain ways of learning when they are little and they continue to use it for the rest of their
lives. These techniques we use to learn come from a guy by the name of Howard Gardener.
Gardener states that there are nine everyday intelligences that people use to learn. Every human uses
at least one of the techniques to learn. People do not think about it when they use it, because it just
happens naturally. Humans learn at their own pace, some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

According to the book, Educational Learning Theories,
All human beings possess all nine intelligences in varying degrees. Each individual has a different
intelligence profile. Education can be improved by assessment of students ' intelligence profiles and
designing activities accordingly. Each intelligence occupies a different area of the brain. The nine
intelligences may operate in consort or independently from one another. These nine intelligences
may define the human species. School traditionally caters to Verbal/Linguistic and
Logical/Mathematical. (Zhou, p. 77)
Howard Gardener described 9 types as, Naturalist (nature smart), Musical (sound smart), Logical–
Mathematical (number smart), Existential (life smart), Interpersonal (people smart), Bodily–
Kinesthetic (body smart), Linguistic (word smart), Intrapersonal (self smart), and Spatial (picture
smart). Naturalist learners are learners who are better at understanding living things and reading
nature, while Musical learners are better at discerning sounds, their pitch, tone, rhythm, and timbre.
Logical–Mathematical learners are better at quantifying things, making hypothesis and proving
them. Existential learners are learners who tackle the questions of why we live, and why we die.
Interpersonal learners excel at sensing people's felling and motives while Intrapersonal learners
excel at understanding themselves, what they feel, and what

Comparing Innocence in Grendel, Neil Young and Portrait...
Fall from Innocence in Grendel, Neil Young and Portrait of a Lady
According to the Bible, God created man pure and innocent, oblivious to good and evil. The serpent
of evil lured them to the tree of knowledge, however, and its fruit proved too much of a temptation.
With a bite, their "eyes... were opened," and the course of their lives, and the lives of mankind, were
changed (Gen. 6–7, 22). Whether or not one accepts the Christian concept of creation, countless
works of art are patterned on this account of the "fall from innocence." The novel Grendel by John
Gardner shows us a side of the "beast" the epic Beowulf never considered – the child–like innocence
before the brutality. The song "Country Girl" by Neil Young is a ... Show more content on

Three years after her marriage to Osmond, the dusky colors of fall permeate the screen. Where there
once were fresh greens and yellows and reds, blue shadows fall, a mere aside to the shadows in
Isabel's heart. "I can't believe she's so cold," her cousin Ralph Touchett laments. "She's utterly
changed" (POAL).
"Too late to keep the change," the chorus of "Country Girl" says, reflecting a idea common to all
three works. In Grendel, bitterness consumes Grendel because he loses faith in the idea of love.
Nothing is ever going to change, he tells himself, "talking, talking, spinning a spell, a pale skin of
words that closes me in like a coffin" (Gardner 15). His "pale walls of dreams" are stronger and
crueler than the walls erected by Hrothgar. In The Portrait of a Lady, Isabel endures her husband's
irrational behavior until just before the death of her cousin. His death awakens her to the reality of
true love and fulfillment, and she realizes how cruel Osmond was to deprive her of it. Madame
Merle knows how depraved Osmond is, but she is beyond help. It is "too late to pay" for her crimes,
but as a last effort to redeem herself, she shares her wisdom with Isabel (Young).
Isabel angrily refuses Merle's advice, unforgiving, as most would be. Madame Merle, and the

Howard Gardner was a Professor of Cognition and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of
Education for almost thirty years as a codirector of Harvard's Project Zero program. (Jacobus 619)
The program was dedicated to improving education in school. While Gardner was determined to
improve education, he earned many awards and recognition along the way. Some of the awards he
earned were MacArthur Foundation Award in 1981 and Grawemeyer Award in Education in 1991
but his most recognized work was the Theory of Multiple Intelligence. In this theory he objects to
the idea that we can measure intelligence with a standardized test. Gardner is more interested in the

The key idea is that understanding should be constructed as a performance, public exhibition of
what one knows and is able to do. (Jacobus 634) To this approach he has to methods that come with
it. First is to create an understanding goal and second is one identifies essential questions. Gardner
brings up the fact that when one learns a sport we do not test them on how well they learned by
giving them a test. The athlete performs it, therefore showing he or she understands the objective. So
why do it when it comes to education. I agree with this approach. For example, one of my most
feared courses was not math or chemistry it was public speaking. Why? Is the fact that I am not
graded on whether I can pass a test or know the difference in definition from a persuasive speech or
an informative speech. No, it is the fact that I must demonstrate that I understand what the speech is

This is an influential point for both book and movie because it has the effect of showing how both
mothers are in and out of their child's life but yet the father reminds to keep everything together.
Basing character tendencies on how the mothers leave and the main character (father) with stay. Yet
the movie does not detail this information but is evident to the abandonment of his actual wife at one
point in the film. In the film, the wife leaves at the one–hour mark (film time). The film keeps their
focus off the wife/mother to put more power in the struggle of Gardner's life as a father. In contrast,
the film "The Pursuit of Happyness" featured the bigger picture of the actual story. More so the
theme that Chris Gardner conveyed in the book. The film goes from struggling married couple with
a son, to a struggling single father chasing the ultimate dream of successfulness. The difference from
the book is that Chris Gardner and his wife were together on and off. They struggle to make the
relationship work but have differences in what they want to pursue.
In the chapter "Turned Out (advanced), the wife reappears after leaving the relationship and they
still continue having problems. "While I had thought that my trip to meet my father would give me

My Teaching Philosophy Essay
There are many skills and attributes that one must possess to be an outstanding educator. To be an
outstanding teacher one must seek growth in their students, challenging them to push themselves
past what they already know with confidence. Giving students encouragement when they feel
discouraged about the objective at hand is vital in the classroom. Although these are just two of the
many important attributes a teacher must possess I would like to talk to you further about the skills
of an effective teacher. In the following paragraphs you learn about the three most important skills
that I believe are essential in a classroom; classroom management, students engaged in cooperative
learning, and the implementation of the Multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the mastery of classroom management an educator can effectively run an engaging classroom
for their students to hone their skills; consequently allowing for cooperative learning. This leads to
the next quality a teacher must possess that I feel is important for student growth; cooperative
learning.
In the growing global society of the 21st century we must prepare our students for a team oriented
approach to learning. Cooperative learning allows the development of many different skills in the
classroom. As many educators know every student is at different intellectual levels when they enter
their classrooms. Cooperative learning allows small groups of students with different abilities to
learn from their peers. Through teamwork students learn to appropriately commend others when a
task is accomplished. Although, students will be working together for a common goal, each
individual student will be responsible for their own work. There are several positive outcomes for
students through the use of cooperative learning. In particular, it promotes positive interaction
between members of different cultures and socio–economic groups. Additionally, it motivates
students to learn new material ensuring student metacognition. To sum up my thoughts about
cooperative learning I feel this learning technique offers many benefit's to students and should be
evident in daily learning.

Theories Of Howard Gardner And Howard Gardner
Multiple Intelligences and Howard Gardner's Theory A prominent issue striking many individuals
through the world today is the use of standardized test to calculate intelligence. According to
Howard Gardner, a Harvard graduate and developmental psychologist: "IQ test have generally
emphasized verbal and mathematical skills, to the exclusion of other important skills." He went on
to develop a list of eight human intelligences that include a variety of talents that are not assessed on
traditional IQ tests. Many of Gardner's arguments I find very valid while there are a few that I
question. However, through his work, I was able to identify my personal strengths and weaknesses
as well as input my ideas of what intelligence should be added. Alongside with Gardner I will touch
on another notable psychologist that believes in the idea of multiple intelligences. To start, one of
the big arguments Gardner presents is that there are some talents that cannot be assessed by
traditional IQ tests. I find this to be very true, for instance a student may excel in technology and
coding based activities, but given a standardized test they may not perform well in the math and
verbal skills and therefore perform poorly. This does not accurately depict one's intelligence as a
whole just a very narrow scope. You would never know the student's computer aptitude based on a
standardized test. Another big point Gardnrr makes is that strengths in one area do not predict

Analysis Of John Gardner 's ' The And The Brave Universe '
John Gardner 's brilliantly composed Grendel is an analysis on the benefits and defects of both sorts
of perspective: the existentialist "significance free" universe, and the brave universe, where each
activity is pervaded with reason and power. Without a doubt, the book brings up numerous
philosophical issues as to the significance of life and also to the way people characterize themselves.
Furthermore, Gardner depicts persistent examination, and last endorsement, of existentialist
perspectives as one watches that the principle character, Grendel, is an existentialist.
In the wake of having completely perused the book, there is undoubtedly Grendel demonstrates
evidence of backing in existentialism. The novel takes after the life of a character who is bit by bit
"frustrated," transforming from a weepy sentimental into a cool agnostic. Without a doubt, as the
principle character depicts his youth/pre–adulthood in the start of the novel, his guilelessness and
guiltlessness plainly emerge. "Thus I found the indented entryway, thus I came up, surprisingly, to
moon light", reviews Grendel, recollecting his first days out on earth as he investigated and found
different animals and his surroundings with explicit obliviousness (12). With the account of his first
experience with men, in the wake of getting his foot stuck in a break where two old tree trunks
joined, Gardner shows Grendel 's blamelessness (he hollers for his mom and cries "Mother! Waa!")
and additionally his earnest

Through his eyes are demonstrated the worthlessness of a sentimental standpoint and the
obliteration of a fantasy. "On the off chance that the Shaper 's vision of goodness and peace is a
piece of himself, not sit out of gear rhymes, then nobody comprehends him by any means," thinks
Grendel, perceiving the difference amongst reality and the courageous perfect (53). His annihilation
of Unferth imprints the typical pulverization of valor, at any rate in his mind; "Such a great amount
for courage," he finishes up (90). Indeed, even Grendel 's presence would appear to invalidate the
ideas of the Shaper, who lectures the excellencies of honor and fearlessness. On the off chance that
the world depends on good and bad, by what method can Grendel keep on surviving? By what
means would he be able to slaughter illogically consistently, convey so much distress and torment to
people, but nothing happen to it? "It 's all the same at last, matter or movement, basic or complex,"
whether he murders or not (73). In the first place, Grendel chooses that life must be without
significance. Agnosticism is, of condemnation, a somewhat discouraging, if freeing, approach to
experience life, however such would appear to be the finish of the book.
With a specific end goal to comprehend what Gardner expects by this, one must take a gander at the
procedure through which Grendel turns skeptic. Mentally, Grendel is an intriguing character.

Compare Amour Et Psych, Enfants And The Pursuit Of Happyness
he painting Amour et Psyché, enfants is an oil painting by William Adolphe created in 1890 and the
motion picture "the Pursuit of Happyness" by Steven Conrad both effectively convey the power of
love in a time of despair. In this paper, I will argue that both Amour et Psyché, enfants and "The
Pursuit of Happyness" both communicate how the role of love plays into overcoming hardships. In
the following paragraphs, we will consider the inspirations, scenery, techniques used to convey the
mood and the stories behind these artworks that shed light in the depiction of love within and after
sorrow. Furthermore, within these two pieces of painted and cinematic artwork, the inspirations that
sparked their creation help you to understand that both of the creators are trying to interpret a
different way of communicating love. Hence, this gives us a better understanding of what the pieces
are trying to portray. Amour et Psyché enfants was inspired by a story written by Apuleius, Cupid
and Psyche were one of Bouguereau's favorite myths, and he painted it quite often. He was inspired
by the prominence of peace and love that prevails after enduring hardships. Likewise, he was also
inspired by the innocence and purity of Jr which he symbolized in the style in which he painted. For
example, the way he chose to paint the children is well thought out and meaningful. Their pale skin

a beautiful example of the baroque genre. Rembrandt's influence is immense and his popularity
described as "cult–like." Furthermore, his art promotes a "concentrated interest" in which his name
and the images he produced were "empowered and endowed with meaning that encompassed anti–
authoritarian conduct, personal and political liberalism, republicanism, originality, and innovative
creative powers" (McQueen, 2003). Therefore, Rembrandt's influence stretches beyond the realms
of artistic history and style into the realms of religion, politics, and psychology. With the loss of a

Skyclad: Wicca Religion
What is the Skyclad?
The term skyclad is used to refer to the ritual of nudity. This for pagan and neo–pagan cultures,
especially the Wicca religion. Some Wicca groups, or traditions, carry out all or some of their
skyclad rituals. While nudity and the practice of witchcraft have been associated in the visual arts,
the contemporary ritual of nudity is often attributed to the influence of both Gerald Gardner and the
work Aradia, or the Gospel of the Witches, and as such it is mainly due to the Gardnerian translation
and Aradiana covens.
The work of Gardner Witchcraft today was published in 1954. The book affirmed about the
contemporary practice of pagan religious witchcraft in England, which had supposedly survived as a
religion over the centuries.

Internet Activity #10 Howard Gardner is an iterator on psychology. He created the multiple
intelligences while at Harvard. He has a profound impact on thinking and practice in education. I
will explain his seven different multiple intelligences. Let's begin with his seven different multiple
intelligences. The first of Gardner's multiple intelligence is linguistic intelligence. This is the spoken
and written language. It is also the ability to learn different languages. It is the ability to express
yourself, say through poetry and remember information. Gardner believes that writers, poets, and
lawyers have a high linguistic intelligence. Now I do believe that these people are smart but that

You use mental abilities to coordinate body movements. I think just about everyone has this
intelligence. If we didn't then we would not be able to move very well. The next intelligence is
spatial intelligence. This intelligence is using patterns of wide space and more confined areas. I
would also have to say that just about everyone has this intelligence. The next intelligence is
interpersonal intelligence. With this intelligence, it allows people to work effectively with others.
Educators, salespeople and political leaders need a well–developed interpersonal intelligence. I
believe that I have a well–developed interpersonal intelligence. I have to know how to talk to
inmates and staff at the prison. If I didn't have this skill then it would make my job difficult. The last
intelligence is intrapersonal. In this intelligence, it is the ability to understand oneself. You have to

intelligence. If not then we would be a complete

Richard Gardner Essay
Richard W. Gardner, along with Edward C. Randall, both fishing friends, became a co–owner of
Arcadia Is. in 1921 obtaining it from George Magoon, a Pennsylvanian coal tycoon. Mr. Gardner
was the Vice President of Otis Elevators Company, the world's largest elevator company.
Richard was one of a trio of brothers born to John and Sarah
Gardner in Dearborn, Michigan. His father worked as a humble farmer labourer on the average size
Whitney farm in the boy's early childhood. John had married into the Whitney family by joining
with his wife, Sarah Whitney. John saved enough money over Richard's first decade to buy his own
farm a bit farther north of Dearborn in the in South Rockwood, Township of Austin. The hard
working father unfortunately died in 1880 and the widowed Sarah took her family to Detroit and
hopefully a better life.
In 1890 the three brothers, Richard, Oliver (b 1872) and 13 year old George (b 1877) formed the
Gardner Elevator Company of Detroit. It was a time of proliferating invention and the serious
business of hauling people up in ever higher buildings created severe competition. When they

The Destruction Of Fear In Gardner's Grendel, By John Gardner
Society's biggest flaws stem from the inability to understand the unknown; fear is one of the greatest
contributions to this inability. Society projects their own fears and flaws onto monsters in order to
deter the realization that they are the real monster. In John Gardner's "Grendel"; Grendel is the
victim to this concept because society has a preconceived notion about him and automatically
stigmatizes him. Grendel is an embodiment of mankind's greatest fears and a reflection of them
selves. Our obsession with monsters is due to the lack of understanding from something that is
completely different from ourselves. Society only projects their fears onto monsters because it has
been integrated in society to see monsters as malicious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being afraid is not a valid reason to attack something. It only counter acts the idea what we are
understanding creatures. Even with multiple encounters with Grendel the Danes they do not attempt
any sort of communication with him. They simply attack first and don't bother to question why he
always seems to appear around them. For example Gardner say's "Drunken men rushed with me
with battle–axes. I sank to my knees, crying, "Friend! Friend!" They hacked at me, yipping like
dogs." (Page 52). It is very said that even when Grendel is trying to establish some sort of
communications with the Danes they still ignore him and attack anyway. Even with a lack of
communication the Danes should still try to make contact with him anyway possible. It seems
barbaric that as a society they did not question their own actions. This is one of Societies biggest
flaws. If they would have tried to establish communication with Grendel he may have not reacted
the way he did. Society must use their sociological imagination and try to see that Grendel was only
attacking because he was the one being threatened. He showed the most humanity in that situation,
he tried to establish communication by even saying the word "Friend!". In "Language and Gender in
Grendel" Diane Andrews Henningfeld argues that "Although Grendel understands his language to
be the same as the men's, they do not understand his speech.

The Thinking Behind Interactive Notebooks
Introduction
Interactive Notebooks are broadly utilized as a part of classrooms; some school systems have made
them required for specific subjects while in other systems, instructors use them independently. The
reason behind an interactive notebooks is to help students organize, and synthesize information
given to them in class. The thinking behind Interactive notebooks started with instructional
procedures, for example, note taking, idea mapping, and association of data as well as brain research
about how students learn best. Interactive notebooks combine all of the research into one
instructional strategy to advance student learning.
Brief Review of Literature A significant amount of research has been done in the areas of learning
styles, numerous intelligences and methods for note taking. To date there has been little research
connected to Interactive Notebooks; this study will concentrate on the theories that support the
utilization of interactive notebooks. When teachers choose to use Interactive Notebooks in their
class rooms, they must be aware of the students learning style to better serve them.
Note–Taking Strategies Note taking is something that is used in almost every classroom throughout
the US. A learning strategy can be used to rehearse, organize, and elaborate on presented material to
make it more meaningful (Kenny & Schroeder, 1994). Note–taking has been a topic of research for
the last 30 years and taking notes is a common classroom

Satire in John Gardner's Grendel Essay
Satire in Grendel
"The state is an organization of violence, a monopoly in what it is pleased to call legitimate violence
(Gardner, 119)." This excerpt from John Gardner's Grendel shows one of the many issues he deals
with in his satire of man, and that is the issue of the use of violence in society. Gardner shows this
throughout the book, but most prominently in chapter eight, in which we learn of the arrival of
Hrothulf, Hrothgar's nephew, at Herot.
Hrothgar recognizes the evil in Hrothgar's kingdom. He discusses the problems of the government
with an old man known as "Red Horse". The point made in the opening quote is that "Men's
violence is chained to good (i.e., to the king): legitimate force that chops off the ... Show more

This is a satirical look at our sense of freedom.
As a society, we often feel we are free. But are we? What is this freedom we think we have?
Gardner shows us that the government's main objective is to "satisfy the greed of the majority, the
rest will do you no harm. That's it. You've still got your fiction of consent (Gardner, 118)". And if
things go wrong, the government's immediate reaction is to use force to gain their objective.
Chapter eight states that "when men quit work, the police move in. If the borders are threatened, the
army rolls out (Gardner, 119)". Therefore, the state is always in control. The people have freedom,
but only to do what is acceptable to those in power. Is that true freedom? Gardner believes it is not.
"Public force is the life and soul of every state: not merely army and police but prisons, judges, tax
collectors, every conceivable repression (Gardner, 119)." So even though we believe we live in a
free society, we are truly controlled and kept in line by the government at all times.
For all of the pride humankind takes in its established government systems, they are flawed. And as
for glorious revolutions that change the face of the government or replace one government with
another, they are truly and "simply the pitting of power against power, where the issue is freedom
for the winners and enslavement of

Should Smoking Be A Rule?
Trying different things with smoking as a rule happens in the early adolescent years, often times in
high school were students like me, often succumb to the peer pressure. This is often driven
transcendently by psychosocial thought process. For me, as a "beginner" in high school, smoking
cigarette's was a typical demonstration of passing on a message, that I was no longer a child. Yet, I
also think that I was trying to "fit in" to what I perceived to be a "cool kid." I was essentially trying
to change my persona because I was often time the kid who was picked on or considered a nerd or a
geek. The craved picture is adequate for the amateur smoker to endure the repugnance of the initial
couple of cigarettes, after which pharmacological variables expect much more prominent
significance. Phillip Morris, a widely known cigarette Manufacturer coined an expression that is
very true and holds a great deal of significance. "As the power from the psychosocial imagery dies
down, the pharmacological impact assumes control to manage the propensity." It's a habit that I have
never been able to break. I have found ways to hide it; however I have never been able to stop it,
since that day I started in 1990. A conceivable clarification for why I and a large part of the general
public, who smoke, see cigarettes to be such a calming effect. For me, it originates a thought of the
impacts of nicotine withdrawal. Through the years that I had to hide my habit, I would begin to

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum 's Art Collection
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum's art collection blends history and culture to aesthetically
define a single individual: Isabella Stewart Gardner. From the "Mosaic Floor: Medusa" of the inner
courtyard, to "The Coronation of Hebe" (Paolo Veronese) on the ceiling of the third–floor Veronese
Room, Gardner determined every inch of both the interior and exterior of the structure housing her
personal collection of masterpieces. This museum was specifically designed to resemble a 15th–
century Venetian palazzo, inspired from the city that captured Gardner's heart and ultimate vision of
her legacy (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum). Assisted by Renaissance–revival architect, Willard
T. Sears, the palazzo–like structure was realized in its full glory, albeit Renaissance ornamentation
had no logical place in early 20th–century Boston, Massachusetts. However, Isabella Stewart
Gardner's fascination with the Renaissance was not solely because the works and buildings were
visually pleasing. A palazzo, for a wealthy family, was a lasting symbol of status. Gardner's choice
to create a museum inspired by this Renaissance structure demonstrates how this Renaissance
mindset can be translated into her modern context when crafting her own legacy.
The exterior of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is drastically more modest than the interior. In
the same fashion as the traditional palazzos of the Renaissance, the masonry is smooth and
understated. The flat roof resembles that of the Palazzo

racking up two and a half million and sealing its place in film noir history. This is the film that
established Gardner as a star, but it really only solidified her as a pretty face. A majority of her roles
following The Killers were femme fatale characters or boring loving interests for her male costars,
such as East Side, West Side (1949) and The Bribe (1949). Despite her success she was still not

Analysis Of A Rounded Version: The Theory Of Multiple...
In "A Rounded Version: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences", Howard Gardner illustrates how
there are a variety of intelligences. Gardner starts off with an example how IQ tests may predict
achievement in school but may not predict achievement in life. After finding out certain parts of the
brain are responsible for certain functions, such as "Broca's Area" which is responsible for sentence
production, Gardner proposes the existence of multiple intelligences. Multiple studies later led him
to propose seven distinct intelligences; Musical, bodily–kinesthetic, logical–mathematical,
linguistic, spatial, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. Each intelligence has certain classifications.
According to Gardner's classifications, I realized my intelligences are bodily–kinesthetic, logical–
mathematical, and intrapersonal.
Gardner describes bodily–kinesthetic knowledge as being able to solve problems with the body
(Gardner 513). Sports is the best example for this intelligence. Gardner believes that you are born
with this intelligence. He gives the example of Babe Ruth knowing what his "instrument" was upon
first exposure (Gardner 512). I had a similar experience. For as long as I can remember, I have

Gardner was born on the 11th of July 1943 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. His parents Ralph and Hilde
Gardner were German–Jewish immigrants who fled the country Germany prior to World War ll.
Growing up, he described himself as "a studious child who gained much pleasure from playing the

finally started teaching at Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1986. Since 1995, much of the
focus of his work has been on the Good Work Project, now known as the Good Project which
promotes excellence, engagement, and ethics in education, and preparing students to become good
workers and good citizens who contribute to the overall well–being of society. In 2000, Gardner and
colleagues at the Harvard Graduate School of Education made the master's degree program in Mind,

What should be the goals of an elementary education within an increasingly diverse population? The

them unique. Too often, policy–makers assume that when a child enters kindergarten, he or she is
starting fresh and the "molding" process can begin. Teachers have the power to change such
primitive thought as Mike Rose eloquently professes throughout his book. The idea of individuality
and diversity needs to be honored and respected. Trying desperately to fit into the "mold" is stifling
too many children. While some children persevere with the challenge, others sink into a dismal
outlook of their future, far before they enter fifth grade. I vividly remember my elementary school
teachers. The early grades were tremendously comforting, however, when placed in classes where
lecture was preferred over discovery, I graciously fell behind. I remember desperately needing to see
or touch the topics that were being presented. Every subject that was limited to lecture and print
became increasingly complex.
An elementary class consists of a minimum of twenty personalities grouped into one room. Perhaps
we should take a moment to really absorb the thought of twenty unique personalities in one room.
Each child constructs unique coping methods upon which they survive each day in the

Multiple Intelligences Instructional Design Model

  • 1. Which Instructional Design Model That I Will Use Multiple... Which Instructional Design Model The design model that I will use is multiple intelligences. The major goal of this theory is to foster understanding in ways that takes advantage of the different learners' intelligences. All learners do not learn information the same way, and instructors need to understand that they must be diverse in their teaching to ensure that learners are able to be engaged with topics that they are teaching. Assumptions about Multiple Intelligences With multiple intelligence, students come to school with different educational needs. Not all students learn the same way so as an educator, one needs to be able to teach multiple ways on a single topic to ensure that all students have been engaged. There are multiple ways to teach a single topic, however, Gardner focused on three approaches: 1. Entry points 2. Telling Analogies 3. Approaching the core (Reigeluth, 2013). Entry points To engage students in understating a topic, there are 6 entry points to consider in multiple intelligences (Reigeluth, 2013). Not all learners are the same and as an instructor is good to individualize your lessons to tap into students in different ways because not all learn the same way. The following are the entry points that Howard Gardner states, however, he states that the model that he uses is not to be considered as a learning style (Reigeluth, 2013). Narratives is an entry point used for students who enjoy hearing topics discuss through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People in my country believe that my education would be increased and I became a better person. On the contrary, not everything happened in an instance. I have to undergo in a lot of difficulties to achieve my goals. I kept saying to myself that I might change my mind to give up on school and become an alcoholic or a drug addicts. But, my conscience told me to follow my dream. Difficulties I faced in Canada were orienting me to this new place. However, the toughest one of all was the language barrier. In my country, it's mandatory to learn English and French considering the past of colonization in my country. If I don't study those languages in school, the government could sue my parents. Likewise Creole was my native language which consisted of French and African words. To contrast, the English taught in my country was insignificant compared to Canada. It put a lot of stress on me as well as my parents. But after two years, I managed to get out of this weight. My main sourced was reading many books that were an advised by a teacher. This definitely changed my life and overcome this shyness. After all, the fear of failure from not having a better future and no reputation made me kept on in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis Of Gardner By Richard Gardner Gardner talks about the government through his story. In one instance one of Gardner's characters says "Hrothgar's government punishes civilian violence as well as other crimes by using the same violence it has prohibited, but viewing it as "legitimate" violence. The ruling class uses the same violence it condemn to punish and control the population when they step out of line. Therefore, the state is always in control". The government in this fictional book is not all that different from our very own. Those who choose to lead a life of crime are punished and usually to the full extent as the law permits. There are many murderers currently on death row awaiting the swift hand of "justice". Our government punishes people for their actions but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No but yes. Just like the yin–yang sign. There is darkness in the light and vice versa. To a person selling weapons in a time of war, violence is going to be a pretty gosh darn good thing to them. But not to the men and women on are front line who pray to God as they lie in the fox hole. Can violence be good? Heck yeah it can here is another example; a woman is getting mugged by a mugger. A good samaritan holts the confrontation when he clocks the guy in the temple. To that victim that was an act of heroism, but to the aggressor he found himself in handcuffs and since he wasn't able to steel that money, he can no longer provide food for his sick wife and two children who now have no income. What is the real tragedy here? The women who lives stabibly and can afforded to replace a purse, or the man who wanted to feed his family and pay the rent before being ... (Beowulf,11.1383–5) Explain the role of mourning or revenge in Beowulf Revenge is a central theme in Beowulf and induces many characters throughout the poem. Initially we see the infuriation that infests Grendel and the instant revenge and destruction he conveys upon Beowulf's kingdom.Revenge almost motivates and acts as a fuel to the fire Grendel is experiencing .We are introduced to the character of Grendel in line 86 of the poem and we are given an immediate explanation of what type of creature he is , a monster , a demon. 'Then a powerful demon, a prowler through the dark nursed a hard grievance ' (Unknown,'Beowulf',lines 86–87).Grendel has a soul purpose to demolish the kingdom due to the pain and suffering he has to live with because of the fate and heritage he was given when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grendles mother is another key character surrounding the theme of revenge . Personally I find the character of Grendles mother extremely thought provoking and I found myself drawn to look into the character in more detail. When Grendel returns to his lair surpassingly injured this sparks the motivation of revenge within his mother .As a character she is perceived as a monster yet in the eyes of a twenty first century reader she is merely a woman who is grieving her sons death and retaliating towards those who murdered him . Revenge does not have to be associated with malice and evil , as she was a woman she was labelled 'monster' due to her rash decisions and thirst for vengeance. In the time of the text, women were supposed to be gentle peace keepers any woman who acted out of the ordinary had to deal with major consequences ,exile or assassination. Her revenge was not out of spite ,it was purely fuelled by a mothers fury ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Humans learn things every single day, no matter how old a person is, they will still continue to learn. There are many different techniques of learning. Everyone has their own way of comprehending certain skills. Humans begin to adapt certain ways of learning when they are little and they continue to use it for the rest of their lives. These techniques we use to learn come from a guy by the name of Howard Gardener. Gardener states that there are nine everyday intelligences that people use to learn. Naturalist learners are learners who are better at understanding living things and reading nature, while Musical learners are better at discerning sounds, their pitch, tone, rhythm, and timbre. Logical–Mathematical learners are better at quantifying things, making hypothesis and proving them. Existential learners are learners who tackle the questions of why we live, and why we die. • 15. Comparing Innocence in Grendel, Neil Young and Portrait... Fall from Innocence in Grendel, Neil Young and Portrait of a Lady According to the Bible, God created man pure and innocent, oblivious to good and evil. The serpent of evil lured them to the tree of knowledge, however, and its fruit proved too much of a temptation. With a bite, their "eyes... were opened," and the course of their lives, and the lives of mankind, were changed (Gen. 6–7, 22). Whether or not one accepts the Christian concept of creation, countless works of art are patterned on this account of the "fall from innocence." The novel Grendel by John Gardner shows us a side of the "beast" the epic Beowulf never considered – the child–like innocence before the brutality. The song "Country Girl" by Neil Young is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Three years after her marriage to Osmond, the dusky colors of fall permeate the screen. Where there once were fresh greens and yellows and reds, blue shadows fall, a mere aside to the shadows in Isabel's heart. "I can't believe she's so cold," her cousin Ralph Touchett laments. "She's utterly changed" (POAL). "Too late to keep the change," the chorus of "Country Girl" says, reflecting a idea common to all three works. In Grendel, bitterness consumes Grendel because he loses faith in the idea of love. Nothing is ever going to change, he tells himself, "talking, talking, spinning a spell, a pale skin of words that closes me in like a coffin" (Gardner 15). His "pale walls of dreams" are stronger and crueler than the walls erected by Hrothgar. In The Portrait of a Lady, Isabel endures her husband's irrational behavior until just before the death of her cousin. His death awakens her to the reality of true love and fulfillment, and she realizes how cruel Osmond was to deprive her of it. Madame Merle knows how depraved Osmond is, but she is beyond help. It is "too late to pay" for her crimes, but as a last effort to redeem herself, she shares her wisdom with Isabel (Young). Isabel angrily refuses Merle's advice, unforgiving, as most would be. Gardner brings up the fact that when one learns a sport we do not test them on how well they learned by giving them a test. Yet the movie does not detail this information but is evident to the abandonment of his actual wife at one point in the film. In the film, the wife leaves at the one–hour mark (film time). The film keeps their focus off the wife/mother to put more power in the struggle of Gardner's life as a father. In contrast, the film "The Pursuit of Happyness" featured the bigger picture of the actual story. More so the theme that Chris Gardner conveyed in the book. The film goes from struggling married couple with a son, to a struggling single father chasing the ultimate dream of successfulness. To be an outstanding teacher one must seek growth in their students, challenging them to push themselves past what they already know with confidence. Giving students encouragement when they feel discouraged about the objective at hand is vital in the classroom. Although these are just two of the many important attributes a teacher must possess I would like to talk to you further about the skills of an effective teacher. Cooperative learning allows the development of many different skills in the classroom. As many educators know every student is at different intellectual levels when they enter their classrooms. Cooperative learning allows small groups of students with different abilities to learn from their peers. Through teamwork students learn to appropriately commend others when a task is accomplished. Although, students will be working together for a common goal, each individual student will be responsible for their own work. There are several positive outcomes for students through the use of cooperative learning. In particular, it promotes positive interaction between members of different cultures and socio–economic groups. Additionally, it motivates students to learn new material ensuring student metacognition. • 25. Theories Of Howard Gardner And Howard Gardner Multiple Intelligences and Howard Gardner's Theory A prominent issue striking many individuals through the world today is the use of standardized test to calculate intelligence. According to Howard Gardner, a Harvard graduate and developmental psychologist: "IQ test have generally emphasized verbal and mathematical skills, to the exclusion of other important skills." He went on to develop a list of eight human intelligences that include a variety of talents that are not assessed on traditional IQ tests. Many of Gardner's arguments I find very valid while there are a few that I question. However, through his work, I was able to identify my personal strengths and weaknesses as well as input my ideas of what intelligence should be added. Alongside with Gardner I will touch on another notable psychologist that believes in the idea of multiple intelligences. To start, one of the big arguments Gardner presents is that there are some talents that cannot be assessed by traditional IQ tests. I find this to be very true, for instance a student may excel in technology and coding based activities, but given a standardized test they may not perform well in the math and verbal skills and therefore perform poorly. This does not accurately depict one's intelligence as a whole just a very narrow scope. You would never know the student's computer aptitude based on a standardized test. In this paper, I will argue that both Amour et Psyché, enfants and "The Pursuit of Happyness" both communicate how the role of love plays into overcoming hardships. In the following paragraphs, we will consider the inspirations, scenery, techniques used to convey the mood and the stories behind these artworks that shed light in the depiction of love within and after sorrow. Furthermore, within these two pieces of painted and cinematic artwork, the inspirations that sparked their creation help you to understand that both of the creators are trying to interpret a different way of communicating love. Society projects their own fears and flaws onto monsters in order to deter the realization that they are the real monster. In John Gardner's "Grendel"; Grendel is the victim to this concept because society has a preconceived notion about him and automatically stigmatizes him. The Thinking Behind Interactive Notebooks Introduction Interactive Notebooks are broadly utilized as a part of classrooms; some school systems have made them required for specific subjects while in other systems, instructors use them independently. The reason behind an interactive notebooks is to help students organize, and synthesize information given to them in class. The thinking behind Interactive notebooks started with instructional procedures, for example, note taking, idea mapping, and association of data as well as brain research about how students learn best. This excerpt from John Gardner's Grendel shows one of the many issues he deals with in his satire of man, and that is the issue of the use of violence in society. Gardner shows this throughout the book, but most prominently in chapter eight, in which we learn of the arrival of Hrothulf, Hrothgar's nephew, at Herot. Hrothgar recognizes the evil in Hrothgar's kingdom. He discusses the problems of the government with an old man known as "Red Horse". This is a satirical look at our sense of freedom. As a society, we often feel we are free. But are we? What is this freedom we think we have? Gardner shows us that the government's main objective is to "satisfy the greed of the majority, the rest will do you no harm. That's it. You've still got your fiction of consent (Gardner, 118)". And if things go wrong, the government's immediate reaction is to use force to gain their objective. Chapter eight states that "when men quit work, the police move in. If the borders are threatened, the army rolls out (Gardner, 119)". Therefore, the state is always in control. The people have freedom, but only to do what is acceptable to those in power. Is that true freedom? Gardner believes it is not. "Public force is the life and soul of every state: not merely army and police but prisons, judges, tax collectors, every conceivable repression (Gardner, 119)." So even though we believe we live in a free society, we are truly controlled and kept in line by the government at all times. For all of the pride humankind takes in its established government systems, they are flawed. From the "Mosaic Floor: Medusa" of the inner courtyard, to "The Coronation of Hebe" (Paolo Veronese) on the ceiling of the third–floor Veronese Room, Gardner determined every inch of both the interior and exterior of the structure housing her personal collection of masterpieces. This museum was specifically designed to resemble a 15th– century Venetian palazzo, inspired from the city that captured Gardner's heart and ultimate vision of her legacy (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum). Assisted by Renaissance–revival architect, Willard T. Sears, the palazzo–like structure was realized in its full glory, albeit Renaissance ornamentation had no logical place in early 20th–century Boston, Massachusetts. However, Isabella Stewart Gardner's fascination with the Renaissance was not solely because the works and buildings were visually pleasing. A palazzo, for a wealthy family, was a lasting symbol of status. Gardner's choice to create a museum inspired by this Renaissance structure demonstrates how this Renaissance mindset can be translated into her modern context when crafting her own legacy. The exterior of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is drastically more modest than the interior. In the same fashion as the traditional palazzos of the Renaissance, the masonry is smooth and understated. The flat roof resembles that of the Palazzo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though few young people in the current day and age have a true understanding of the difficulties that came with being a young starlet, in particular being taken seriously as a performer. This is particularly true of Ava Gardner, who was regarded as just a pretty face for a majority of her career. Gardner really only gained respect after her performance as Honey Bear Kelly in John Ford's 1953 film Mogambo opposite Clark Gable as Victor Marswell. She finally got a lucky break when she was cast as femme fatale Kitty Collins in 1946's The Killers along side Burt Lancaster's Ole 'Swede" Anderson. The Killers was wildly successful in its time racking up two and a half million and sealing its place in film noir history. This is the film that established Gardner as a star, but it really only solidified her as a pretty face. A majority of her roles following The Killers were femme fatale characters or boring loving interests for her male costars, such as East Side, West Side (1949) and The Bribe (1949). Despite her success she was still not thought of as an actress. Her roles were one dimensional and as David Meuel points out in his book Women in the Films of John Ford she was "far better known for her sex appeal that her acting ability." In fact, Gardner was a source of wild gossip due to her hard drinking, swearing, and public love life. Her three marriages were the primary source of gossip, particular her relationship with singer Frank Sinatra. At twenty four, she was already divorced from Mickey Rooney, married unhappily to Artie Shaw, and rejecting proposals from eccentric Howard Hughes. Grobel points out that "It was Mickey Rooney and Howard Hughes and Artie Shaw and Frank Sinatra and most of the men who caught a whiff of Ava and became intoxicated." Her ... • 59. Analysis Of A Rounded Version: The Theory Of Multiple... In "A Rounded Version: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences", Howard Gardner illustrates how there are a variety of intelligences. Gardner starts off with an example how IQ tests may predict achievement in school but may not predict achievement in life. After finding out certain parts of the brain are responsible for certain functions, such as "Broca's Area" which is responsible for sentence production, Gardner proposes the existence of multiple intelligences. Multiple studies later led him to propose seven distinct intelligences; Musical, bodily–kinesthetic, logical–mathematical, linguistic, spatial, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. Each intelligence has certain classifications. According to Gardner's classifications, I realized my intelligences are bodily–kinesthetic, logical– mathematical, and intrapersonal. Gardner describes bodily–kinesthetic knowledge as being able to solve problems with the body (Gardner 513). Sports is the best example for this intelligence. Gardner believes that you are born with this intelligence. He gives the example of Babe Ruth knowing what his "instrument" was upon first exposure (Gardner 512). I had a similar experience. Each room functions as a chapter of a pilgrimage. When one travels through various countries and time periods, one inevitably ends up in a gallery built in the imitation of a chapel, and subsequently the Gothic room. In this paper, I will examine the Gothic room's theme in relation to the placement of its objects. I will also evaluate the room's strengths and challenges in serving the public, and how the conventions employed in this room contribute to the general accessibility of the museum. The museum's upper floors, built with narrow hallways and staircases, cannot accommodate large groups. Since, in her will, Mrs. Gardner rejected any alteration to the museum's walls, visitors can only rely on a limited amount of information cards when encountering an artwork, due to a lack of labels. It is for that reason that academics who visit the museum to do research might find the scarcity of information challenging. This process turns the museum visit into a treasure hunt of trying to locate a specific object listed on the sheet to learn more about it. While this differs from a normal display, it allows the patrons to interact with the art in a leisurely manner. It has the positive effect of entering a new world when one walks into the ... The simple and obvious answer is that an educational institution should be a place for individuals to learn. The job of the teacher is to issue facts, share methods in which the facts can be learned and model consistent and appropriate behavior. Such behavior should consist of modeling appropriate presentation, cleanliness, respect, methodology, etc. Such a question is bound to raise many arguments by teachers and the answer will raise many arguments by students. Children do not enter into Kindergarten as blank states as some psychologists would have you think. Many children have been predisposed to many opinions, facts, and cultural experiences that make them unique. Too often, policy–makers assume that when a child enters kindergarten, he or she is starting fresh and the "molding" process can begin. Teachers have the power to change such primitive thought as Mike Rose eloquently professes throughout his book. The idea of individuality and diversity needs to be honored and respected. Trying desperately to fit into the "mold" is stifling too many children. While some children persevere with the challenge, others sink into a dismal outlook of their future, far before they enter fifth grade. I vividly remember my elementary school teachers. The early grades were tremendously comforting, however, when placed in classes where lecture was preferred over discovery, I graciously fell behind. I remember desperately needing to see or touch the topics that were being presented. Every subject that was limited to lecture and print became increasingly complex. An elementary class consists of a minimum of twenty personalities grouped into one room. Perhaps we should take a moment to really absorb the thought of twenty unique personalities in one room. Each child constructs unique coping methods upon which they survive each day in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
