26. My Learning Style Is… When I learn I like to do it in my own way. I like new, unique ideas and developing those ideas with the help and input of others. I love colour and sound, so I commonly use it in my learning. I record my notes on a voice recorder and colour code the sticky notes in my text books. If I learn something new and it interests me, I generally try to put that new idea or concept into practice. I may do experiments, such as watching how photosynthesis works by growing a tree, or simply explain its process to my friends or family. I love observing people and recognizing what emotions their feeling by a tone in their voice, a look in their eyes, or the twitch in their mouth. Because of my ability to recognize human behaviour patterns, I generally pick up learning techniques or hints just by watching how other people work in their natural surroundings.

40. Salary… A little on the low side The average Elementary School Teacher’s salary ranges from $35,000 to $85,000 with the norm falling around $54,000 yearly However… the salary would be sufficient for the small town location and low housing prices of northern BC… where I’m considering teaching
41. Availability… Elementary school teacher is a common profession Within the next 10 years enrolment of young students will decline Therefore, prospects for new teachers are modest However… I am willing to move to wherever there is work so I will have an easier time finding a job.

50. Financial Planning I can use the principals of financial planning I learned in STSU because becoming an elementary school teacher is not a high paying job. Financial skills will be of much use when budgeting my yearly salary.
51. Time Management Time management will benefit my future career because being a teacher goes beyond the classroom. Teachers have to take many assignments home for marking as well as plan a curriculum, all of these things on top of in class teaching take up a lot of time. Being able to properly manage my time will ensure that I am able to complete everything that needs to be done and allow for free time to be spent with my future family.
55. The Environment By gardening and addressing the issues that our environment is facing I can always be close with the earth that surrounds me.

Becoming an Elementary School Teacher How I will get there: I will finish the Future Teachers Program at Douglas College until I have graduates with my Associate of Arts Degree I will transfer to SFU or Thompson Rivers University to continue my educational journey in getting my Bachelors of Education I will find work in a small and remote area of British Columbia Later on I may upgrade my Bachelors of Education into a Masters of Education
60. Having A Family I would like to start up a family when I have finished all of my post secondary education and am established in my career In my future family I am willing to have 1 husband and 2 kids maximum As to how I’m going to get this imaginary family… I have no idea

Moving out Into The Countryside I ideally want to live in a one story cottage style home with a porch and a considerably large yard… However my views towards a one story home may change once I have children By using the budgeting techniques I have learned in STSU I will hopefully have enough money for the down payment on my dream home Because I want to move out of the lower mainland, housing prices are less expensive making my dream home more financially accessible
62. Have Two Dogs I will adopt my dogs from an SPCA shelter
63. Have One Love Bird I will either get my love bird as a baby from a pet store, or will adopt one from a bird shelter.
64. Travel to Egypt By using the financial and budgeting techniques learned in Student Success I will save for my trip to Egypt and embark on my journey after I have graduated my Post Secondary institution
