3. Introduction:
Between the activities and responsibilities that to involve to be part of the State Officers of the
student association Future Business Leaders of America we can mention several as to write
articles for magazines and periodic, to offer conferences on diverse themes, to give speeches in
conventions, to send communiqués to the press of the country, to prepare and to publish reports
and to carry out other activities of social and official character. During this year the State
Officers and the members from Puerto Rico State Chapter have developed and participated of
educational, social, benefic, and commentaries activities to reach the vision of Service,
Education and Progress aforesaid in our emblem so that we can be true Future Business Leaders
of America. In this report you will be able to observe all activities in which our members and
locals chapters has participated during the school year 2004-2005.

5. PRODUCTIVITY
Recruitment of members and chapter
During this school year we recruited the first chapter FBLA-Middle in the middle school
20 of September in Vieques, Puerto Rico, the same have a membership of 36 students.
Besides we increase the membership to 8,406 members, this represents 40 members more
than the past year.
State officer assistance to local chapters
The members of the State Officers 2004-2005 were in constant communication with
members of all the local chapters. The State Officers help the local’s advisers and its members
to organize, to plan and to direct the following activities:
1. Initiation of the new members - The purpose of this activity was to encourage new
members to continue the way to success.
2. Workshop to the orientation the new members.
3. Regional Leadership Conferences
4. Local Awards Day’s – the objective of this activities was recognizing the work and the
achievements of the members
5. Local and Regional Gathering

6. Preparation of state and local officers for their duties
The members of the State Officers and the local officers were offered them workshops of:
1. Parliamentary Procedures – Learn about resources available to students and
advisers that make this dry subject come alive.
2. Raising Funds – Learn hot to carry out a successful fundraiser form start to
finish.
3. Map to a Successful Meeting – Learn the basics of skillful meeting
management and parliamentary procedure to become an effective member of a
group.

Thanks to these workshops the members of the different executives could carry out well
their tasks as the leaders and representatives of their chapters.

7. Cooperation with business, professional and service groups with the community
Some members of our chapter participated helping different service groups. Some of
them are “Fondos Unidos” de Puerto Rico, “Ser de Puerto Rico”, and American Society Cancer.
Those service groups offer to communities help and orienting for those who suffer those
different catastrophic diseases.
Also, our members are committed to the school and their community. That is why our
members have participated in the following activities with the purpose of participate in the goals
of the school and the community.
1. Cleaning at the International of Coasts - worldwide effort to clean the coasts of the world.
This activity was carried out on September 25 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
2. Worldwide Day of the Heart – the objective of this activity was to orient people of the
important thing to take care of our heart. Carried out 26 of September in San Juan, Puerto
Rico.

8. 3. March against the ASTHMA - the intention of this activity was to orient participants of
the seriousness of this disease, that can cause death.
4. Walked of the Diabetes - long walk for the awareness on the diabetes. Carried out on
the14th of November in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
5. Human bow against AIDS - Young, young adult and old people were united in an
enormous human bow symbol of hope for those that lives with VIH/AIDS, and in
recordation of which victims of the disease have died. The red bow, is the symbol of the
fight against AIDS. This activity carries out in Cayey, Puerto Rico.
6. Day of not smoking - activity February summit whose objective is to orient to the
citizenship on the diseases that the cigarette causes. This activity carries out in San Juan,
Puerto Rico.

9. Moreover, the members of State Officers 2004-2005 realized the benefic activity
denominated “Dime Day” which consists in raising funds for someone in necessity. We collect
one thousand one hundred dollars. With these funds we bought furniture for the Home Children
that Want to Smile in Santurce, Puerto Rico.

10. Participation in public relations activities and newsletter preparation
On March 2, 2005, Puerto Rico FBLA State President participated in the radial program
“Inter Dialogo” of 1480 AM transmitter WMDD in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. This dialog was with
the Professor Gloria Rivera de Cruz. The objective of the interview was to present the student
association Future Business Leaders of America, its objectives, history, profits that it has
obtained, and aid to the young people to develop leadership.
In addition, in this interview our State President commented the educational, social,
cultural and civic activities that are carried out by our members.
Also, in the “Primera Hora” Newspaper the State Officers published some activities such
as the opening of the Vocational and Technical Week, the State Competitive Events and the State
Leadership Conference.

11. During this year, the State Officers 2004-2005 I carry out the first magazine of the Future
Business Leaders of America in Puerto Rico. The same we called “The State Officers 2004-
2005 reports you”. The purpose of this magazine is present a summary of all the activities that
carry out and we attend during all the school year 2004-2005.
Development and promotion of FBLA-PBL State projects
On November 12, 2004 Puerto Rico FBLA member and advisers celebrated our social
activity, The State Gathering where 1,600 members participated from 40 chapters.
The objective of this activity is to share with the members and meet new members from
our island. In this gathering there were volleyball, basketball, pool, domino, and other
tournaments. There was also a Talent Show that consisted of three parts: dance, singing and
imitation. The members of Puerto Rico chapter demonstrated that they possess artistic and
athletic abilities.

12. On March 11, 2005, Puerto Rico FBLA members and adviser held the 2004-2005 State
Competitive Events in the School Specialized in Commercial Education Abelardo Martinez-
Otero in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
The purpose of these competitions is to demonstrate the dominion of the basic areas of
Commercial Education acquired by the FBLA members in the class room and career
development.
The following is a complete list of FBLA Competitive Event that were carried out:
Spanish Commercial, English Commercial, Accounting I and II, Word Processing I and II,
Parliamentary Procedure, Business Math, Document Administration/ Technology of Office, Mr.
and Ms. FBLA, Who's Who in FBLA, Short hand I, Transcription, Impromptu Speak in Spanish,
Impromptu Speak in English, Public Speaking in Spanish, Public Speaking in English,
Community Service Lesson Plan, Local Annual Business Report, Entrepreneurship, Multimedia
Presentation, Web Site Development, and Job Interview.
A total of 600 members, 98 chapters, 98 advisers participated in these competitive events
and 30 professors participated as judges.
Also, for the first time the state press of our country went to cover this activity.

13. Support of FBLA-PBL National projects
From July 14-17, Puerto Rico FBLA member and advisers attended the National
Leadership Conference (NLC) 2004 in Denver, Colorado. During those days our members
participated in workshops including Stage, Set and Ready, Leading Up, and Communicate Your
Way to Success. Also our members had the opportunity to meet the national officers from 2003-
2004 and 2004-2005. The member of Puerto Rico FBLA participated in different competitive
events, for example: Job Interview, Future Business Leader, Accounting I and Accounting II,
Word Processing II, and other. Although our members did not win in the competitive events, we
felt proud to represent our island. In Denver, Colorado members visited Six Flags, Rocky
Mountain, Denver Capitol and Denver City. NLC was also wonderful opportunity to meet new
people. Puerto Rico FBLA members met people from DoDDS, Pennsylvania, Texas, California,
Rhode Island, and other states from the United States of America. Also our members had the
opportunity to trading state pins. For us this conference and the trip to Denver was an
unforgettable experience. Moreover, our chapter won the following awards and recognitions:
1. Puerto Rico Chapter – First Place with the major number of members.
2. Eastern Region – Second Place – Rafael Cordero Molina High School.
3. Puerto Rico Chapter – Eastern Region – Second Place in increasing 13.42% the
membership.
4. Outstanding Local Adviser – Prof. Nilda S. Santiago Lebrón – Juan Ponce de Leon
High School.
5. Marketshare Award – Prof. Zoraida Ortiz – Stella Marquez High School.

14. Implementation of state leadership conferences sponsored by the association
From April 22-24, 2005, Puerto Rico FBLA member and advisers attended the State
Leadership Conference in the Embassy Suites Hotel in Dorado, Puerto Rico. During those days
our members participated in workshops including motivation, leadership and sexuality. Ours
members had the opportunity to meet more members around our Island. In this conference we
elect the new States Officer for the new scholar year 2005-2006.
Also, in this conference the members that won the first, second and third place in the
State Competitive Events received a trophy and a metallic price which consist in first place $500,
second place $400 and third place $300.

Our chapter is administrated with one meeting in September with the purpose to elaborate
the work plan. In this meeting we discuss the benefic, educative and social activities that carried
out in the year. Also, the members of the State Officers they communicate weekly to talk about
the association, the next activities and coordinates activities, gather suggestion of the members to
know if the are in agreement with which this becoming.

Conclusion:
The student association Future Business Leaders of America, Puerto Rico State Chapter, is a
bulwark in our educational system and pride of the Business Education Program. This
association promotes among their members the development of activities that fortify the
dexterities of leadership and they reinforce the security in itself and in their work as future
leaders. Also it stimulates the effective communication among them and the school to
community. During the school year 2004-2005 the members of our chapter have reached the
nine objectives of our organization. You have been able to observe that our members participate
actively of all local, regional, state and national level, and so many activities. Thanks to our
young our association they are maintained in constant updating in the country of the commerce,
the technology and the communications.

On April 24, 2005 the members of the Puerto Rico State Chapter carried out the elections
to chouse the new State Officers for the school year 2005-2006. The new State Officers
