1. Essay about Gender Identity
The development of gender awareness is fundamental for our sense of self and is also predominant
in any assessment made of another person as from birth on people respond differently to males and
females. Gender identity can be seen as one of the earliest social categories that children learn to
apply to both themselves and other people. This is suggested in Schaffer's (1996) definition where
gender identity is the correct labelling of self and others as male or female. There are three main
theories that have been explored which all suggest multiple ways in which gender awareness is
developed: Bandura, Kohlburg and the Gender Scheme Theory. Firstly, Bandura (1977) notes that
the idea that social influences clearly plays a very significant...show more content...
Therefore, this shows that the development of gender awareness and identity has been the topic of
many debates, thus showing how important the development of gender awareness is.
Sex role development begins in infancy and is a basic component of a stable identity throughout
life and it can be suggested that the key component to identity formation are the social influences.
This includes parental expectations, peer relationships and social experience that result in
conforming to the gender stereotypes. Research into this has explored the ways in which parents
and children interact with each other. From the beginning, parents tend to treat their child by
their sex, ranging from the name given to the baby, to toys and furnishings. This, therefore,
places the child into one category or another. The seemingly simple act of decorating a room or
providing access to various play things is intimately connected with factors of adult influence. For
example, this is shown in a study by Rheingold and Cook (1975) who showed how boys' rooms
were more likely to be blue and filled with toy vehicles, sports equipment and stereotypical male
items. Girls' rooms on the other hand tended to be decorated with floral wallpaper and lace, and
would be more likely to contain dolls and more feminine objects. This experiment is supported

2. The Horror Genre Essay
The Horror Genre
The Horror Genre has been very popular ever since Etienne Robertson, the pioneer of film horror,
made the first film. The film 'Phantasmagoria' was more of a theatre shadow play. It was made
during the French revolution.
Since then, thousands of Horror films have been made. Many developments have been used in
newer films such as special effects and 3–D animation. A genre is formed when a type offilm has
certain elements that become essential to that type of film. These elements are sometimes called
"generic conventions". Around these large genres sub–genres have evolved such as supernatural and
sci–fi horror films like 'The Fly' and 'Mary Shelley's Frankenstein' In...show more content...
They are dressed in a long beige coat and a hat, they smoke a lot of cigarettes and are discreet and
smooth. Not all modern films have detectives but older films like 'Psycho' and 'The Shining' have
them.
In some films there is Pathos created for the killer because of his mental state. Sometimes the
killer's are out for revenge or they are insane. In 'The Fly' the main character Seth undergoes a
genetic change and loses his mind, this makes the viewer feel sorry for him.
Horror films have a typical narrative structure. Like 'Psycho' and 'Jaws' they start with a scene of a
killing, usually the most brutal and graphic. This sets the scene and lets us know what is to come.
After the first kill the murders become more discreet. Next the title sequence comes up and then the
main characters are introduced. The killer then appears when everyone has been introduced and it
is usually night time, plotting another attack or on his way to fulfil it. The next part is an
unsuccessful attempt to kill the next victim. The final and most gripping part is the part where the
detective must try to work out who is killing and prevent the next strike. Then the killer is revealed
or stopped, resolving the narrative. A common device used in most horror films is the 'Red Herring'.
This is when the audience is led to believe something about someone in the film that isn't true,

3. International Students Essay example
Differences between American Students and International Students Most young people believe that
studying in a different country is a privilege because they are able to experience other cultures, and
learn from them. However, in the United States it is not as good as they thought because
International students have much more pressure being in this country, and sometimes they cannot
handle it very well. Therefore, in the United States the life of an international student is very
unfavorable if people compare it to the life of an American student. International students have to
learn a new language to study, they cannot work while studying, and their tuition is much more
expensive. When people moves to the United Stated to study they...show more content...
They know their structure and have a very superior vocabulary, so they can compose excellent
essays. In addition, since American students speak English very well, they do not have any
problem participating in class. They have confidence in themselves, so they will not be afraid of
saying something wrong. Consequently, because American students do not have to learn any
language to study their mayor, it is much easier for them to achieve excellent grades. Most
university students feel the necessity of working since they would like to have their own money
in order to be independent from their parents. It is not the exception for International students
because they also feel the necessity of working to be independent from their parents or whoever is
responsible for them. However, for international students to work in the United States it is very
difficult because they are only allowed to work on campus. These kinds of jobs are very limited
since some of the campuses in which they study are very small. Also for an international student to
find a job on campus is difficult because people prefer to employee an American student who is
not going to have any problem speaking the language. For example, last semester a friend from
Venezuela who is studying at Miami Dade College decided that he wanted to get a job in order to
have his own money. He went to

4. The Digital Age Essay
The Digital Age
The digital age is staring us in the face from the near future. We already see countless instances of
digital technology emerging more and more in our every day lives. Cell phones are equipped with
voice recognition software, and are able to take photographs and send them wirelessly across the
globe, almost instantaneously. When information is captured and transmitted into a digital format,
possibilities for that data become endless. Soon we will no longer be inconvenienced with reality;
all of our sensory shopping experiences will be converted to digital information and will be fed to
us through our computers. Digital information is in a much more malleable format. It can easily be
duplicated, changed, or processed...show more content...
The information created will be able to be shared by anyone with a computer. The power base that
the digital age relies on for existence, is technology. The rapid developing technology is absolutely
necessary for the digital age to exist. Without super powerful microchips, and high bandwidth
transfer wires, the digital age would be a figment of our imagination. Digital technology is computer
based, so the millions of calculations per second, and ability to transfer large amounts of data over
long distances are absolutely necessary. Without computers, the data might be collected; but there
would be nothing to process and transfer the information.
When new technology is invented, it is sometimes distributed to a society that might not be ready
for it. Few corporations consider this and are only interested in spreading their product to the
consumer as soon as possible. New technology is often flawed and taken advantage of by
individuals who know how to manipulate it. This is a considerably large problem when dealing with
digital technology. Digital information is not a three dimension tangible object. So it is easily
tampered with and destroyed without people noticing. When the damage is finally noticed, the party
responsible is usually untraceable and in a completely different area of the world to begin with.
The potential value of this new technology seems almost

Besides the climate is one of the most important point in tourism. In summer times there is very
nice weather in (Paris, min 13В°C, max 23 В°C)( souffle.asso.fr,2011) France. This might be a
reason for France to receive many tourists. I think some physical environments especially Eiffel
Tower is the big attraction for tourist. I think most of the people who are visiting to France are
Europeans. They can use the same currency (EURO) in France as well and as I mentioned above
it's not expensive to travel to France, It could be a reason why France is in 3rd rank in generated
income table.
UNITED STATES
US continues to lead 2nd in ranking of the world's tourist visited numbers table in terms of arrivals
and ranks first in receipts. One hand I think the reason for the 2nd rank in 'vister number table' is,
Genrarally United States is quite far from anohter countries and it takes hours and hours to reach
the country. Some toursits feel unconfotable to spend time in flying rather than they could travel a
nearest destination. So I think travelling time could be a reason for 2nd rank in 'visited numbers
table'.On the other hand generally it's very very expensive to travel to United States (Flight tikets).
For an example if a tourist from uk decided to visit to France the travelling cost maximum like $150

6. Essay on Violence
Violence is one of the most problematic issues society faces today, and it has been increasing day
after day, in the streets of our cities. The most common description of what violence really is can be
given as negativity towards something or someone either through physical or verbal actions, which
often causes the victim to suffer pain. The different types of violence that exist in our multi–cultural
society are out–numbered, but the most evident ones are domestic, gang, sexual, and racial violence.
While violence can definitely be reduced, it will never be eliminated due to the nature of humans.
Domestic violence, also known as spousal abuse, occurs when a person in an intimate relationship or
marriage tries to dominate and control...show more content...
On October 24 2000, a news article headline read, "Gang wars 6 Dead". This event had taken place
in Etobicoke, and the news article contained sentences like "Six victims in six months" and
"calculated executions". It also contained terms like "Bloods" and "Crips". These terms and
sentences have officially crossed the border and have become all too familiar in Canadian cities.
In order to cut back this outlaw behaviour, we need to educate our youth about the ill effects of
gangs, drugs, guns, and should try to persuade them to instead make friends with those who accept
you for who you are and use all their time in doing something positive and proactive. As a result of
reducing and preventing gang violence, many cities have created special task forces and given
schools their own police officers.
Sexual violence is another form of violence that has plagued our cities. This crime involves violence
that is specifically sexual in nature, to which the victim does not give consent. According to 2005
statistics, 51% of all Canadian women have experienced at least one incident of sexual violence. 6
out of 10 victims who reported being sexually violated were under 17. These numbers are alarming
and scary. It is extremely important to get rid of such sinister crimes in our communities because it
robs the victims of their innocence, self–esteem, confidence, and even trust in our society. The

7. Taking a Vacation Essay
Almost everyone likes to take time out from a world of work and relax once in a while. One way
of relaxing that has become popular amongst the people of today's society is to take a vacation.
This action has taken off with the people of today's society. However, a vacation can mean several
different things to several different people. For some people a vacation might be a chance to relax,
while to others, a vacation might mean to leave their professional work for a while, only to do
another different kind of work. An example of what a vacation is to me, is a trip. The trip is a
chance to get away from everything and see new sights. Vacations take severalshapes, but the main
purpose is to relax stays constant.
The first type of vacation,...show more content...
The tropical vacation usually involves water, hotels, sight seeing, and fancy clothes. Generally these
trips are for people who want to sleep later into the day, have a nice brunch, and then sleep or
engage in activities on a beautiful beach. After getting their nice golden tan, the person most likely
will go to their room, where they can take a shower and get all dressed up for a fancy dinner. After
dinner, the couple or family usually engages in pleasant activities like walking through a quaint
town or stopping to listen to a band that might be playing as they are walking by.
On the other hand, you also have those who love to take vacations into the mountains. These trips
are generally for those who enjoy colder climates. The main cold climate vacation involves snow
activities. One example of an activity that usually takes place in this climate is skiing. Normally
the couple or family that takes this type of vacation would pack warmer clothing, such as heavy
jackets and thermal pants. For these people, a typical day generally involves waking up, having a
good hot breakfast, and skiing on the slopes. Next, the people would remain skiing for most of the
afternoon and into the early evening. The only time that they would stop is for lunch and a cup of
hot cider to warm them up. After they finished their day on the slopes, they would go back to their
room where they can clean up and prepare for a

8. What I Have Learned Essay
What I Have Learned
When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in
this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe
that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to
also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I
could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted
anymore.
I also feel that maturing counts as learning for me because growing up I was continuously being
called immature. For me, maturing counts as learning because I find myself doing things I never

I feel that I have to get rid of bad habits in order to make room for better habits that I need for
everyday life. I am learning better habits everyday. Even though I did bad on my first exam I feel
that counted as learning for me because now I know what it takes for me to receive a high grade on
any test I take.
The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to
learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in life. I am now beginning to understand the value
of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I
took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My
attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted.
In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating
me properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning
new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that
I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually
yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. Every assignment I have done in college is
teaching me something new. I think I feel this way because I am maturing and I now view learning
differently than I did
