Art Bio is an innovative application that makes it easy to create short artist bios for art galleries and artists themselves. With this intuitive tool, they can create professional and attractive bios in just a few minutes and distribute them on various platforms, such as exhibition catalogs, websites, or social networks.
2. Project duration
The product
For my Google UX class, I was
assigned to create a biography app
for artists showing in art galleries.
October 8th to November 8th, 2022
3. The goal
The problem
Most artists are shy when it comes to
writing about themselves and have a
hard time sending back a biography for
an art gallery showing on time or simply
writing it.
Create a tool that will falicate the writing
of a biography for art galleries artists.
4. My role
Responsabilities
Since it was a class assignment I was
responsible for the whole process, the
idea being that I learn the fullscope of a
UX project.
Conducting interviews, paper and digital
wireframings, low and high-fidelity
prototyping, conducting usability studies,
and iterating on designs.
6. User
research:
summary
I conducted interviews and created empathy
maps to understand the users and their needs. A
primary user group identified through research
was art gallery visual artists.
This user group confirmed initial assumptions
about art galleries artists, but research also
revealed that blank page syndrome and user task
dislike were also factors that created delays in
the marketing process of art galleries.

PROBLEM
STATEMENT
Charles work from 9 to 5 from
Monday to Friday. After work, he
goes for a walk almost every night.
When he comes back home, he
creates from what inspired him from
the walk.
This week, he has to write his
biography for an art show he is
doing with a gallery but he does not
like to write in English because of
the language barrier.
GOALS
Create a biography about
me without having to
worry about my language
level in a foreign
language.
Having tools that help me
communication
information about myself
FRUSTRATIONS
It’s frustrating that my
language barrier block
me from getting my art
exposed to the world.
I dislike having to write in
another language than
my own.

IMPROVEMENT
Have a feature to help
stimulate introspection
within people.
Import notes directly in a section, easy
copy-paste feature.
Have a visual option to select the
language of the app or have the app
autoset to the language of the phone.
Have the app be less boring
and had gamification
elements as well as as a scale
(1-10) and easy to answer
questions.
Have an autocorrect tool.
Have a feedback tool for
auto-improvement. Have
a translating tool for bio
in other languages.
Have a send button in the
app
11. Paper
wireframes
Drafting each iteration of
each screen of the app on
paper ensured that the
elements, I wanted to include
would make it to the digital
wireframes and would be well
suited to address user pain
points. For the home screen, I
prioritized simplicity and
accessibility.
12. Digital
wireframes
As my design progressed, I made
sure to include feedback and
findings from user research.
Photo filters and options
came up more than once!
13. Digital
wireframes
Simple, quick and accessible
design is the key to having a
user-friendly application.
Big and round high contrast
buttons were more appealing
for most users.
15. Usability
study:
findings
ROUND 1 FINDINGS ROUND 2 FINDINGS
Users want more
customization options.
Users wants profile pictures
in the app
Users want a grammar checker.
Users want multiple
export features.
Users want a verification
button before sending the
biography to the art gallery.

BEFORE USABILITY
STUDY
AFTER USABILITY
STUDY
Early designs had a layout editing option for the biographies, this was not needed
since each biography will be edited by the art gallery and uploaded to their website
following their own design style.
22. Impact
What I learned
The app facilitate the users writing
process and the delivery to the art
gallery.
While designing the Art Bio app, I learned
that the first ideas for the app are only
the start of the UX process. Usability
studies and feedback influenced many
iterations of the app design.
Takeaways
23. Next steps
Research, update to the
design and search for
new accessibility
technology.
Conduct more user
research to determine
any new needs.
