Rationale
PORTFOLIO DAY is considered a Culminating Resources Activities/
Performances wherein at the end of every quarter, schools are encouraged to
put up exhibits of student/pupil products across subjects or learning areas.
Learners may also do an exhibition of their performances in different subjects
as evidences of their learning or attainment of performance standards. Thus
when parents receive the report card and confer with teachers they will
actually be witnessing what students are learning in school.
The learners' quality products can likewise be sold to stakeholders at
reasonable price so that learners will appreciate the value of their works, they
will be earning while learning (sales will be accepted directly by the
student/pupil product-owner), thus they can gradually internalize
entrepreneurship skills as we are preparing them for Entrepreneurship as of the
Exits of K to 12 Program.
Regional Memorandum No. 066, s. 2017 further provides that the
conduct of the School-Based Portfolio Day shall be done every quarter with
the following suggested activities: (1) distribution of cards; (2) parent-teacher-
adviser conference; (3) display of pupil/student outputs; and (4) PTA Meeting.

The Regional Portfolio Day is an innovative activity under the leadership of Dr. Uytico,
pursuant to DepEd Order No, 36 s. 2016, entitled “Policy Guidelines on Awards and Recognition
for the K to 12 Basic Education Program,” and in cognizance of the evidence-based performance
evaluation which is an essential part of the learning process.
Conalum Elementary School had its portfolio day on the 19th day of August 2017.
Parents, pupils and other stakeholders attended the said event. The new Principal-In-Charge of
the district, Dr. Ruth Retulla as well as the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr.
Marilyn B. Siao came to monitor the synchronized activity.
8. In the morning at about 8:00 o’clock, the program started with a short prayer by Mrs.
Nancy P. Fabroa which was followed by the singing of Philippine National Anthem thru an
overture. Attendance is a must, so Mrs. Chresna K. Sayod checked it thru a creative roll call by
singing a song once respective grade level is being called. Maricel Busque, the GPTA President
welcomed everyone with her eloquent words and was followed by reading of previous minutes
by Mrs. Uriah L. Opiala. Dissemination of DepEd updates was done by Mrs. Dinah A. Parciso.
Everyone was well-informed about the new DepEd programs and implementations. As a goal of
improving the school, it is but a must to revisit AIP and SIP. The school principal with the school
planning team and the barangay captain planned for necessary adjustments.
Second part of the program followed as the parents proceeded to their respective rooms
for the PTA Meeting. It is indeed very crucial to have a parent-teacher adviser conference since
it’s the best way to have feed backing of pupils’ performance. It’s the best time to give pupils’
strength and weaknesses for pupils’ improvement. Afterwards, everyone had a chance to have a
glimpse at pupils’ output thru a gallery walk.
This year’s “Portfolio Day” has been a great success and has effective served its purpose.
