is situated around using an electric guitar along with

US by inner-city African Americans which consists of stylized
rhythmic music which usually accompanies rapping.
• Hip-Hop music videos tend to consist of multiple conventions
such as:
• Low angled Close ups: This implies that the artist has power over the
audience. The low angle makes them look bigger than the audience
and the close ups implies the audience is important enough to be in
their own frame.
• Crowds: Crowds are usually shown dancing etc. to the beat of the
song. This gives credibility to the song/artist as it shows the people
are enjoying the song.
• Clothing: Clothing is usually basketball shirts/sporting clothes
signifying strength and fitness of the artist.
• Men: Hip-Hop videos tend to show a lot of men featured signifying
power and strength in numbers.

without lyrics or singing. Although it might include some
inarticulate vocals e.g. shouted back-up vocals in a band

called an instrumental interlude or if it occurs before a

to create a deeper meaning.
• Location: The location is usually in an isolated setting as the artist is trying to
express their emotions. Sometimes a location is chosen to represent part of

• Editing: Some acoustic videos are in black and white to create a deep
meaning and make it more old fashioned.
• Variety of shots: This shows different parts of the artist/their
instruments/location etc. to create an even deeper meaning.
• Acoustic music is usually based on a family member/friend/story and the song

represent older times.
• Close ups: These are used on the artist and their instrument/s to
promote the meaning in more depth.
