WHAT IS A PROMOTIONAL PACKAGE
This is when a film uses different media products and contents for the purpose of attracting their target audience. There
are many types of ways to advertise your movie, for example through social media, reviews and trailers, but all are used
to reach a wider range of the audience. The reason for promotional packages is to help films get recognitions before
they are distributed to the cinemas, therefore getting them enthusiastic about the release.

advertising this movie. As this is an independent film, it
makes sense to use this promotional package as it is cheap
and easy. Using social networking can be very affective
while promoting a movie because millions of people use it
everyday so they are more likely to succeed in reaching
their target audience because they are spreading the word
around and encouraging more people to watch the film.
The movie received unpaid endorsements by celebrities
such as Kanye West and Sean Combs, explaining how
great the film is. In addition, fans made positive
comments on the movie using the #12yearsofslave
which can be seen on their page. And the movie social
media page was constantly being updated.

makes sense to use this type of promotional package
as it does not take much affect but still promotes the
movie effectively. It is easy for anyone to find a review
and millions do everyday, so because of the positive
feedback this make the target audience more likely to
watch the film.
The movie received positive reviews from critics
like Rotten Tomatoes (88%), Metacritic (72/100)
and The Guardian (5stars). These review sites
promoted the film for them and they extended this
free promotion by having it on their posters,
trailers and social networking sites.

This movie used merchandising and interviews as their
way of advertising this movie. As this is an major film, it
makes sense to use these types of promotional packages
as they have the time and money to produce it in a large
quantity. Merchandising can include toys, clothing and
lunchboxes which are all used to bring as much
attention to a film as a commercial or poster. Interviews
with the cast, directors and producers are done to
encourage journalists to publish stories and reviews,
therefore creating "marketing buzz" around the film and
stimulating audience interest in watching the film.
The cast had interviews with companies like Comic-
Com International, MTV News and Movie Clips. They
used synergies to work with promotional partners
such as Burger King, Dr. Pepper, and Visa. They also
created merchandies like toys, video games and many
other acesories. These all came together to get the
Thor logo recognise which did and ended up
attracting millions of people that watched the film.

This movie used posters and trailers as their way of
advertising this movie. As this is an major film, it makes
sense to use these types of promotional packages as they
have the time and money to produce it in a large quantity.
Posters can vary in size and content and are used to
promote and advertise a film by including the logo, main
actors and release date , this gives the audience a chance
to become familiar with the movie. Trailers are a popular
way to advertise a movie as billions of people watch it
online, they are used to bring as much attention to a film
and stimulate the audience interest in watching the film.
The movie released the trailer 4 months before the
released date leaving plenty of time for the audience
to become aware of the film which resulted in 26
millions people watching the trailer. Posters appeared
worldwide, this allowed the Fast and Furious 8 logo to
be recognised by everyone therefore encouraging
millions of people to watch the film. This was made
easier by the fact that this movie is a sequel.
