”Drilling and blasting is at the core of successful mining, this conference is a great opportunity to meet colleagues
and discuss challenges and opportunities within these topics”Jan Kläre, Superintendent Mine Development, Zinkgruvan, Sweden
Dear Drill & Blast Professional,
Have you got the best drilling pattern and explosive combination in
place to deliver the optimum blast?
With Europe pushing to become independent in supplying raw materials in
upcoming years, we will witness increased investments in new exploration
production in mining across Europe. This means an added emphasis on
getting the right expertise and techniques in place throughout the entire
mining cycle to meet these demands.
After speaking to 43 drill & blast engineers in European Mines and their
contractors over the last few months it is evident that getting your blast right
is of essential importance to mine operators. If just one thing goes wrong
during the drill & blast phase, you could be faced with heavy consequences
that could slow down your production, harm the environment or even
endanger the lives of fellow miners on site.
Drill & Blast Europe 2011 will delve deep into the critical approaches you
need to ensure you perform the optimum blast.
Our outstanding speaker faculty includes Jonny Bagein-Linder, who will
discuss how bulk emulsion behaves in bedrock and how this will help you
achieve a better blast. In addition Jonny will be running one of our interactive
and practical masterclasses on the impacts bulk emulsion has on the
environment through leaking. So make sure you sign up for the masterclass
as well as the conference.
Other key topics on our agenda include:
New strategies on how to optimise fragmentation and minimise costs
Insights into some of the biggest European mines blasting department
Traceability of Explosives directive and how will it affect your
mines operations
How to improve your design pattern to avoid commodity loss
You will learn more at this 2 day conference than you would at a 2 week
training course! This gathering will encapsulate the very finest drill & blast
professionals as well as newcomers looking to learn from the elite.
Mark the date in your diary: January 18th – 19th 2011.
Avoid the wait list: places are limited and early registration is highly
recommended. Make sure you secure your place at this bespoke industry event.
I look forward to meeting
you in Stockholm!

Masterclass A
18th January 17:15 – 20:00
Which Environmental Aspects Should You
Consider When Using Emulsion Explosives?
Emulsion leaking into the environment is a major concern. It
is worrying from financial aspect, simply because you are
loosing expensive explosive in the rocks and even more from
the environmental point of view where chemical
components can leak into water supply.
Key issues to examine
How bulk emulsions behave in hard rock and how can
you apply this knowledge in saving on explosion
Ways of preventing emulsion leaking into the cracks and
thus avoid environmental damage
Blasting, technical, environmental and economical points
of view need to be considered when looking for the best
ration of emulsion
Jonny Bagein-Linder, Manager Production Systems,
BOLIDEN AREA
Masterclass B
19th January 15:45 – 18:30
The future of mining with electronics: how
can new technology help you achieve a better
blast result
There are multiple considerations that you need to know to
achieve best results in blasting. One of them is to consider
electronic detonators. In this masterclass you will see how
electronics perform in addressing the issues within:
Vibration Control
Perimeter Control
Fragmentation Control
Dr. Peter Reinders, Product Manager Electronic Blasting
Systems, EMEA, ORICA MINING SERVICES
Our delegates are actively looking for fresh and innovative technology

We actively maintain a reduced vendor ratio, which creates a more intimate environment for knowledge sharing and networking. 3With over 16 industry speakers confirmed at Drill & Blast Europe 2011 we bring together the brightest minds in mining industry who will deliver their first-hand insight into their drill & blast department. 4Supreme networking opportunities that allow you vital face-to-face interaction with industry peers. 5Get direct insight through interactive workshops with key opinion leaders in the field. Who will attend Drill & Blast Europe 2011? Drill & Blast Engineers Drill & Blast Managers Drill & Blast Superintendants Mining Engineers Shot Firers Operations Managers Area Planning Managers Mine Superintendent Principal Mining Engineer Open Pit Operations Manager Underground Mine Manager ”Drilling and blasting is at the core of successful mining, this conference is a great opportunity to meet colleagues and discuss challenges and opportunities within these topics”Jan Kläre, Superintendent Mine Development, Zinkgruvan, Sweden Dear Drill & Blast Professional, Have you got the best drilling pattern and explosive combination in place to deliver the optimum blast? With Europe pushing to become independent in supplying raw materials in upcoming years, we will witness increased investments in new exploration production in mining across Europe. This means an added emphasis on getting the right expertise and techniques in place throughout the entire mining cycle to meet these demands. After speaking to 43 drill & blast engineers in European Mines and their contractors over the last few months it is evident that getting your blast right is of essential importance to mine operators. If just one thing goes wrong during the drill & blast phase, you could be faced with heavy consequences that could slow down your production, harm the environment or even endanger the lives of fellow miners on site. Drill & Blast Europe 2011 will delve deep into the critical approaches you need to ensure you perform the optimum blast. Our outstanding speaker faculty includes Jonny Bagein-Linder, who will discuss how bulk emulsion behaves in bedrock and how this will help you achieve a better blast. In addition Jonny will be running one of our interactive and practical masterclasses on the impacts bulk emulsion has on the environment through leaking. So make sure you sign up for the masterclass as well as the conference. Other key topics on our agenda include: New strategies on how to optimise fragmentation and minimise costs Insights into some of the biggest European mines blasting department Traceability of Explosives directive and how will it affect your mines operations How to improve your design pattern to avoid commodity loss You will learn more at this 2 day conference than you would at a 2 week training course! This gathering will encapsulate the very finest drill & blast professionals as well as newcomers looking to learn from the elite. Mark the date in your diary: January 18th – 19th 2011. Avoid the wait list: places are limited and early registration is highly recommended. Make sure you secure your place at this bespoke industry event. I look forward to meeting you in Stockholm!
