Water Scarcity in India
Water is an essential resource to sustain life. From 50 – 90 percent of the weight of living organisms is water. Water is the major constituent of living
matter. Water, essential for growth of all crops, is the natural resource in shortest supply. More than 20 countries lack sufficient water to grow enough
food for their people. The situation is getting worse as needs for water rise along with population growth, urbanization and increases in household and
industrial uses. According to a UN report two–thirds of mankind will suffer moderate to severe water crisis within next 30 years if remedial steps are
not taken. World Bank report estimates 5 million deaths from unsafe drinking water and investments to the tune of $ 600 billion worldwide ... Show

A team of scientists and researchers of Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi has made detailed study of the problem, its dimensions and
solutions. They have emphasised the need of traditional wisdom of water harvesting. They have given many details and data and proved how useful it
can be to make use of our time– tested, age–old and traditional water harvesting system. These traditional methods of water harvesting have been in
constant practice from time immemorial in the country, among various communities and villages. They evolved highly decentralised system of water
harvesting suited to local conditions. We need to return to the same wisdom and revive the old water harvesting system and structure.
Millennium Development Goal number 7, target 10 aims to halve the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic
sanitation by 2015 . Water scarcity could threaten progress to reach this target. As governments and community organizations make it a priority to
deliver adequate supplies of quality water to people, individuals can help by learning how to conserve and protect the resource in their daily lives.
Good water management also reduces breeding sites for such insects as mosquitoes that can transmit diseasees and prevents the spread of

Religion In Water
The film is titled 'Water' as water has religious significance to the Hindus. Water is thought to have spiritual cleansing powers which means all
water is believed to be sacred. There are seven specific sacred rivers; The Yamuna, Godavari, Sarasvati, Narmada, Kaveri, Sindhu and Ganges. b)
Religion and Culture: The Hindu religion is very different to what we know, especially for women. To the people who live their lives devoted to
Hinduism, it's more than just a religion, it's a culture. Women, though regarded as extremely important, are not given equal rights. This holds back
the people in this culture as if so many people of the population aren't give the same opportunities as men are the nation in itself could be missing
out on so much. These women have the potential to do a lot more, yet are held back as all they're expected to do with their lives are marry and have
children. Part of this relates back to the caste system, if no one is equal there's no place for the nation to develop. c) The Hindu caste system consists of
five different groups, the Brahmins, the Kshatriyas, the Vaisyas,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, the statement does have truth, but it doesn't mean it is right. Obviously religion does create a lot of conflict with different religions having
views on different things such as women's rights, different rules to obey and practices. The film 'Water' concentrates on the role of women,
specifically widows, in 1930's India. It's true that Hinduism is the sole reason for everything that happens in this film, if it didn't exist Chuyia
wouldn't have been married as a child and the widow's wouldn't have been cast out of society. It's hard to develop further as a nation if women aren't
allowed to do the same things and have the same experiences as men. Imagine how many things could be discovered and allow us to progress further
if women were allowed the express themselves as much as men

The Nitya Ras
The religious performance of Ras Lila is based around the deities Krishna and Radha, two prominent gods within Hindu culture and religious practice.
Beginning with the Nitya Ras, a representation of Radha and Krishna making love to each other through sacred song and dance, and eventually
progresses to the Lila at the end, which includes text, song, and dance of events from when Krishna visited earth. (177–178) Halfway through is an
intermission during which the Maharaj–ji appears onstage by stepping through a curtain upstage and walks toward one of the corners. The music
becomes quiet and then he pauses before lowering himself to the floor and bowing so that his forehead touches it. The goal and symbolism of this
action is that he doesn't see the performers as actors but rather 5,000 year–old people. (Mason). The Nitya Ras begins with the actors playing Krishna,
Radha, and their servants along with the musicians taking their places on the stage, after which the curtain raises revealing the performers. Song and
dance establishes a joyous mood, and Krishna preaches about either the Braj, love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

depending on the troupe that is performing and where the performance is held. In addition to dance, there are twenty minute intervals that include
dialogue between Krishna and Radha called jhankis. Jhankis are tableaus during which the actors playing the deities hold in place and pose. (Mason).

Essay On Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal, a marvelous white marbled mahal, symbolizes the beauty of love, and misery, is one of the seven wonders of the world. Taj Mahal was
built during the Mughal Period when Mughals (Muslims) from Persia, Afghanistan, and many parts of middle east conquered India. It was built by fifth
Mughal emperor Shah Jahan who ruled India during the early 17th century. He constructed the divine Taj in the memory of his begum (wife) Mumtaz
Mahal. Mumtaz Mahal was a Persian Muslim Princess, who married Shah Jahan in 1612 (tajmahal.gov.in Staff). Soon after begum's death, Taj Mahal's
construction was started in 1631. Shah Jahan had two aims, firstly to construct the largest mausoleum in the world and the complex he designed was ...

Shah Jahan ordered to build the Taj Mahal. As a result, Taj Mahal symbolizes the eternal love of emperor and his queen. Taj Mahal was completed
in 1648 but it was not open to public until 1653. Taj Mahal is nothing but a gigantic marble tomb. This was a gift from Shah Jahan to his wife. Soon
after the completion of the monument, Mumtaz's dead body was placed in the center of the tomb. But after few years in 1658, Shah Jahan was
captured by his own son named Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb was the last great Mughal emperor formed in the history of Mughal dynasty. Aurangzeb was
the third son of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz. Because of greed of becoming the emperor of dynasty, Aurangzeb killed his elder brother and imprisoned his
father, Shah Jahan for eight years. Shah Jahan was imprisoned in Agra Fort, which was on the opposite side of the river Yamuna, and from the
balcony of the Agra Fort, Taj Mahal was visible. This helped Shah Jahan to help survive for more years. But after eight years, Shah Jahan died of
illness on January 22, 1666 in the city of Agra (Bhavesh Variya, 88). Later his son and the current emperor Aurangzeb buried his dead body in Taj Mahal

The New Delhi School System
While there are many acts of human right violations in the world, a long standing one that has gone on is in New Delhi, India where they have
struggled with the right to education in their public schools. On April 1, 2010 the act for the right of children to free and compulsory education was
passed in New Delhi, India. The law promised free and compulsory education to all children between the age groups of six and fourteen years old. A
study on the implementation of the Right to Education Act in Delhi three years of its existence, has shown overwhelming violations. Although the act
was passed, there have been 10,000 accounts of violations of child's rights recorded. The New Delhi school system 's use of discrimination against

Remnants of the glorious past survive as important monuments in different parts of the city"(Pollanki). Although Delhi has prospered as the capital
of modern India, its population is spiralling upwards due to rapid economic expansion and increased job opportunities. The downside of this
inflation, is chronic overcrowding, traffic congestion, child labour, housing shortages, pollution, and unfortunately unfair educational opportunities
to local children. Although New Delhi is a fast growing city, some of their political opinions are outdated, like their lack of commitment to the
human right to education. Many schools around New Delhi have denied students access to their schools. A majority of the victims in this case are
children who belong to economically weaker , or refugee families in New Delhi, and cannot provide correct papers to enter the school, some have
even been denied access for lack of hygiene. One child was denied entrance to school on complaint of his poor hygiene and was asked to take his
admission somewhere else (iGovernment). When many of these families cannot even afford food on their table for their children, lack of hygiene
should not be a reason to deny a child their right to an education. This incident isn't the only case in which a student was turned away from school,
surveys taken around the local New Delhi schools reported, "twenty three per cent of children stated that they have differently–abled (disabled) children

The Mughals Who Ruled India From 1526-1858, Emerged As...
The Mughals who ruled India from 1526–1858, emerged as great patrons of
architecture. Mughal architectural is a great historical source as it reflects on
imperial ideology of the time. The Mughals drew upon various architectural traditions–
indigenous Indian traditions, Indo Islamic architecture form the Sultanate period,
Persian traditions, European traditions and introduced their own Timurid
traditions of Central Asia. Right from Babur to Aurangzeb, architecture was used to
assert power and seek legitimacy by the Mughals.
Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, coming from the lush lands of Ferghana
and being constantly on the move in India, mainly laid out gardens in Hindustan
instead of large buildings. Yearning for the gardens of his homeland, Babur
introduced a new Timurid garden– the charbagh into India, impacting subsequent
Mughal architecture profoundly. The Charbagh was a symmetrical terraced garden
divided into four equal parts by water channels and raised pathways, dotted with
fountains, pavilions and trees. Catherine Ascher says upon establishing his capital
at Agar he laid out a charbagh called Hast Behisht or Garden of Eight Paradises,
on the banks of the Yamuna. His memoirs record that this served as his main
residence and court. The garden from its name, its flowing water and fruit trees,
was meant to reflect eight levels of paradise on earth, in which Babur resided. He
also laid out a 'Garden of Victory' near Fathepur

Essay The Ban-Yatra Pilgrimage
If you are ready to leave father and mother, and brother and sister, and wife and child and friend, and never see them again... then you are ready for a
walk. –Henry David Thoreau (Haberman 12)
Introduction:
The pains of pilgrimage are deep and various. They are found not simply in the physical walking, but also in the walking away from physical and
mental comfort. In his book, Journey Through the Twelve Forests, David L. Haberman describes in graphicdetail the parting and participatory pains as
he journeys on the Ban–Yatra pilgrimage. The Ban–Yatra (literally 'forest journey') is a 200–mile circuit through the forests associated with Lord
Krishna's activities around Braj, a town in central India. Krishna is a deity favored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper will explore the necessary co–presence of intense pain and sheer bliss in the Ban–Yatra, evaluating precisely how this tension is necessary
in building the pilgrim's relationship with Krishna. The pilgrim's relationship with and reverence for Shiva and Radha will serve as markers in this
outsider's account, guiding in the understanding of the nature of the pilgrim's pain and consequent joy.
I. Entering a relationship with Krishna by following Shiva
Ironically, the Ban–Yatra – a celebration of Krishna – begins at a Shiva temple. In many respects, the ways of Shiva, the brooding mountain–ascetic,
are contradictory to the ways of Ban–Yatra pilgrims. The human condition is one of restlessness, "there is a haunting lack which engenders the
incessant flight from on thing to another," Haberman observes (Hab 7). Ascestism, commonly associated with the Hindu term 'tapas', seeks to alleviate
the discontentment of this condition by self–mastery – the controlling of one's kama, or desire. The ascetic devotes his or her energy to performing
austerities and fixating on one stable point of zero desire. By transcending the tumultuous play of the world, the ascetic attempts to seek perfection. In
contrast, Haberman explains, "the religion of Braj involves the cultivation of desire," not the elimination (Hab 28). The Ban–Yatra pilgrim believes that
all of life is Krishna's play – lila – and that life's

Personal Experience Essay : My Experience In My Life
Last weekend my beautiful friend Yamuna was married in a storm of confetti and colour and I have never experienced anything like it. The air was
close and we spent the weekend in a haze of heat and sunshine, sleeping on a rooftop under the stars and celebrating their love. (I can't explain just
how special it is to know that our first Indian marriage was the love marriage of such a dear friend). We travelled out to her village– a nine hour drive
from Hyderabad– by semi–sleeper bus. The adventures began early, as at quarter past four in the morning the bus stopped and we all got off to
stretch our legs. Outside the sky was clear, icy black with abundant stars. We trailed behind a group of sari–clad women down a dusty street in the
darkness, not entirely sure of where we were, looking for a washroom. We passed a building and one of them said "It is open only." Naively I think
this means the bathroom is inside, and unlocked. It turned out that in rural India "open" doesn't mean unlocked but non–existent. We walk further
down, and suddenly about a dozen of these sari–clad women squat together, to do their business on a quiet patch of the roadside. I think it's fair to say
that whatever I thought culture shock was when I first arrived here was nothing to what I felt last weekend. Everything was so different to our
Hyderabad home. It felt like I was relearning how to conquer India all over again.
The bus deposits us in one village, about five am, and we climb off looking

The Judicial Evolution Of Appointment Of Commissions
The system would lead to grave injustice particularly in case where the parties to the litigation are not balanced in economic strength. The litigants
belonging to un privileged segment of the society are bound to be at a disadvantage as against an economically strong opponent under the
adversarial system because difficulty in securing a competent legal representation also due to inability to produce relevant pieces of evidence
before the courts. Hence, when approached the courts for enforcement of their FRs, it became necessary to lay down new procedure, to make this
possible by the courts. New tools were forged "for making the FRs meaningful to the large segments of people". So in cases where poor litigants or
citizens bona fide approached the courts, they could not expect the formers to produce relevant material before them in support of their case. The
adoption of a passive approach and declining to intervene would render FRs "a teasing illusion" for such litigants. The appropriate answer was the
judicial evolution of appointment of commissions for gathering facts and data with respect to a complaint of a violation of a FR made on behalf of
weaker segments. Consequent reports of commissioners appointed will furnish prima facie evidence the relevant facts and information gathered by the
commissioners and that is the case why such commissioners would have to be responsible individuals; who enjoys the confidence of the court for
making an inquiry into the facts of the case

Yamuna, according to Hindu tales, was a being with infinite love and compassion. My mom, who was Hindu at the time of my birth, gave me the
name Yamuna. She was vegetarian during her pregnancy; therefore I was born a vegetarian. I was once at a restaurant and I asked for a veggie

realized that what I had been given was definitely not vegetarian. I had always been disgusted by the idea of eating another animal, another soul and
being given that burger was traumatizing. I spat out the bite I had taken back onto my plate and I started to cry. The waiter refused to apologize for
giving me the wrong order so I walked out without paying. I felt bad about not paying but I justified not paying him because of the horrible service I

Disadvantages Of Fair Trade
Having the privilege to live in a developed country like America has blessed us with an abundance of prospers opportunities, but have we let these
opportunities outweigh the Earths health? This question may not be one that can be answered till future time. Accordingly, what we can discuss is
how our purchases have a ripple effect on the natural environment and undeveloped cultures in which many times they derived from or are at. With
concepts like fair trade and using reusable and sustainable products to help make a healthier and a more just world.
Being a conscious consumer currently is no small task, with multiple choices of mega stores filled with products that our most time often than not
filled with products that are cheaply produced. Moreover, the big company's give little regard to the producer. This is where theconcept of fair trade
comes from. In a piece of Harvard's Journal of Economic Perspectives states that "Fair Trade is a labeling initiative aimed at improving the lives of
the poor in developing countries by offering better terms to producers and helping them to organize." (Dragusanu, Giovannucci, Nunn, 2014) The
article continues to say that "...Fair Trade–certified coffee exports were 1.8 percent of global coffee exports in 2009..." (Dragusanu, Giovannucci,
Nunn, 2014) A reason why this percent maybe so small could be due to peoples who make the argument that Fair Trade is not economically sustainable.
This meaning that if these producers are underneath the

Summary Of Man Against Foam
Ahmad Masood, the photographer, in the picture titled "Man Against Foam", has captured some men and women worshipping the sun god Surya in the
polluted water of the Yamuna River. This image was published in 2014 A.D on Reuters Article. Men and women in the photograph are celebrating a
Hindu festival called Chhath in New Delhi. According to Wikipedia, Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival historically native to Indians. This
festival is dedicated to the Sun and his wife Usha in order to thank them for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and to request the granting of
certain wishes. The water in the image looks like soap or a pile of snow, but it's all pollution from sewage waters flowing into the Yamuna river. The
photographer shows the problem of pollution in the developing countries like India and how strong faith of people can be for festivals despite of
pollution. Man Against Foam has an unusual behavior of color pattern that brings attention to the reader. In this picture women are wearing colorful
sari, a female garment from the Indian subcontinent that is wrapped around the waist, with one end draped over the shoulder, baring the midriff.
Because of colorful clothes, the image looks vibrant and toned. Also, it helps to create unity and expresses the joy of celebrating Chhath. However, the
contrast between colorful tone on the left and white foam on the right creates variety because the foam is not part of the picture. Masood has carefully

Relationship Between Safavid And Mughal Dynasties
The Safavid and Mughal dynasties have had strong interrelations over their ruling periods. The Safavid dynasty ruled Persia in the seventh century
A.D. from 1501 until 1722. Isfahan became the capital in 1590 and was known for its art and architecture. In 1526, Babur, a prince descended from
Timur and Genghis Khan founded the dynasty of the Mughals in India. He was well known for his interest in art and architecture, especially in
horticulture and the Timurid gardens in Samarkand and Herat. He was also familiar with Persian culture and literature which was evident in his
memoirs, the Babur–Nama. The relations between the Safavids and the Mughals were furthermore strengthened with Babur's hiring of Persian artists
and craftsmen, and after... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both empires' gardens were attributed to be paradise gardens linking them to Eden in the Quran. Aesthetically, Safavid palace gardens' shape and
iconography correlated directly with the metaphysical and religious interpretation of an Islamic garden. "The figure of the chahar bagh has been
interpreted to denote the four quarters or directions of the universe. The orthogonal waterways have been seen to symbolize the four rivers of Eden; the
water as the Christian and Muslim symbol of moral and sacred purification". Many other interpretations come alongside this, but philosophical readings
of the Safavids and their history yield that their intents were not all holly but their political agenda and legitimacy drove their paradise garden building.
In comparison, Mughals built tombs within gardens to link to notions of earth and paradise. Babur began this tradition; in which he had instructed his
tomb in a garden with the grave open to the sky. The construction of mausoleums and funerary architecture continued on with the later Mughals such as
Humayun and Shah Jahan. Humayun's tomb at Delhi was centrally located in the mausoleum and became a model for other Mughal gardens. In
addition, the Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan for his deceased queen Mumtaz Mahal is the ultimate monumental tomb which follows Humayun's tomb
layout. It was built

Essay On Ramanuja
Biography of Ramanuja Hinduism is a way–of–life turned religion. It began as a way of life for people in India, along the Indus Valley back in roughly
4000–10000 B.C., as traditions were added, it evolved into a religion. The people of the Indus Valley followed a code of conduct and worshipped in
similar ways, but nothing was organized like a religion would be. (Barnes, 2005) In fact, it did not begin being considered a religion until travellers
heard about it and needed a name/classification for it. Unlike other religions, Hinduism is based more on the individual than collective rules and group
practices.
Most people think of Hinduism as being polytheistic and while that may be partially correct because multiple gods are worshipped, it is also incorrect
as all of the gods are really just manifestations of one supreme deity known as Brahma. These manifestations represent specific things and have specific
characteristics, but they are all worshipped with the purpose of achieving salvation for the worshipper's soul. Hindu's live life trying to reach this
salvation, following what is written in sacred texts. While there are many influential texts to Hinduism, including the four Vedas, the Upanishads,...

about him because so much has been shrouded by fantastical stories. (van Buitenen,

Architecture: The Love Story Of The Taj Mahal
As an architecture student, I am always fancy with the design and construction of a building. Although there are a lot of amazing modern buildings that
have been constructed in the recent centuries, it doesn't mean that there are less impressive structures in the past. History has given us many great
examples of incredible and exquisite architectures: the Great Wall in China, The Colosseum in Rome, The Great Pyramid of Giza, and many others.
Among them, it is undeniable not to mention the famous Taj Mahal as being one of the greatest structures and wonders of the world.
The Taj Mahal, meaning "crown palace", is considered to be one of the most splendid masterpieces of architectures in the world. It can be regarded as

He is actually presented as a symbol of royalty rather than a human being, which separates him greatly from his fathers and grandfather, who are
really delighted in their characters. However, Shah Jahan didn't want it at all all. He wanted himself to be seen as the symbol of perfection, like as
perfect as a jewel. Every parts of himself are meticulously crafted and so flawless that there could be nothing wrong of his appearance and personality.
He had spent a huge amount of wealth on his creations as to present his ideology of perfection. Unlike his grandfather's building (the building of Akbar)
which shows diversity, Shah Jahan's constructions demonstrate a unique new order. In most of his creations, he didn't just simply mix the Hindu and
Islamic traditions together but balanced them in a different orientation which creates his own significant style. The Taj Mahal can see as the
combination of all of the embellishments that he wanted to use, and it is definitely one of his greatest accomplishment in his life by creating a unity
and harmonic feeling to the design. Most importantly, it provides a divine touch to the Mughal style of

Material and Ideational Relations Between Humanity and Its...
The concept of a continuum of material and ideational relations between humanity and its environment requires a nuanced approach which avoids
generalizations. I theorize that one cannot argue the greater importance of either the material of ideational aspect without making dangerous
assumptions. While some scholars may theorize that it is mankind's religious and ethical worldviews which shape the environment, there is also strong
evidence supporting the idea of humanity's technologies and surroundings affecting religious and ethical systems. It is necessary, therefore, to
acknowledge the fact of each extreme effecting the other. The material world affects the ideational and the ideational affects the material. Before

Calvin DeWitt argues for a contemporary restructuring of these views. As a Christian zoologist, DeWitt encourages Christians to think of the
environment from the Creator's standpoint. By accepting the viewpoint of a loving creator God, the way that Christians acted upon the world would
then be shifted to a more benevolent and caring appreciation. Another key figure who believes in the power of ideas is William Cronon. He theorized
that the concept of "wilderness" was a social construct and that society treated this untouched nature with more care than the nature in their own
environment. The establishment of wildlife preserves and state parks serve as excellent examples of humans attitudes and worldviews shaping the
environment they occupy. On the other side of the material/ideational continuum lies the idea that the environment and human technology shapes
humanity's ideologies and cosmologies. One of the best examples of this concept in action is revealed in the research of John Snarey. He hypothesized
that low water availability among pre–missionization indigenous populations "would be significantly more likely to show an elective affinity for a
morally concerned Supreme Deity." [Snarey, 1] His data supported this idea, with 28% of populations with an extreme scarcity of water creating

Architecture Of The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal, located on the southern bank of Yamuna River in Agra, India, is said to be created by Shah Jahan in 1632. It is known to be a
complex mausoleum that combines Persian, Islamic, and Indian influences, and is one of the "world's most celebrated structures and stunning symbols
of India's rich history". From Sanskrit, Tejo Mahalay (Taj Mahal) means "The Great Abode of Tej". In the Hindu religion, the name Shiva translates to
Tejaji and Mahalay means mansion. Therefore, the Taj should have been known to be a Temple Palace of Lord Shiva, Hindu God. Mumtaz wasShah
Jahan's most beautiful and devoted wife who was "content to have lots of children with her husband died giving birth to their fourteenth child".
Although many historians believe that Shah Jahan had created the Taj to cherish his wife, others believe that it originated an ancient Shiva temple.
According to N.P. Oak, Indian journalist, Shah Jahan had commandeered it from Maharaja of Jaipur and therefore did not create it himself. The Taj
Mahal was meant to be a remembrance of Mumtaz, but the structure of the building proves otherwise; the Taj Mahal should be viewed as a temple,
not a tomb. Temples are often built on river banks and sea benches. The Taj Mahal was built on the banks of the Yamuna River, which was the ideal
location for a Shiva Temple. Also, the Taj is located inAgra city, which is an ancient center of Shiva worship. The officials at Agra preserve their
tradition by worshipping at five Shiva

A Day On My Own Path Toward A Successful Future
Every day on my way to school in Baroda, Gujarat, India, I witnessed the women on the streets draped in dirty, torn saris with small babies at their
waists begging for money. Ironically, while entering my own path toward a successful future, I was simultaneously witnessing people who had their
unfortunate fate already written––the untouchables and the homeless. One morning before the rickshaw arrived to take me to school, a riot broke out
in my colony between two religious divisions, Hindus and Muslims. I remember chaos in the entire neighborhood and people running everywhere,
trying to find safety. My father rushed me into the house with my mother, while he and the rest of the men in the neighborhood stayed behind to ensure

Moreover, I didn't experience any violent riots; instead, the city transformed into a quiet ghost town in the evenings.
Today, even though I live in the United States, I occasionally receive news of these riots from my relatives living inIndia. Moreover, there are constant
news headlines highlighting political corruption, terrorist bombings, healthcare disparities, and issues among the citizens due to social caste and status.
All of these contribute to the further splitting of India, a nation whose freedom fighters risked their lives to free India from British imperialism and
keep the nationalistic spirit of "Bharat Mata," or "Mother India," alive. The freedom fighters united the citizens no matter their caste, religion, or creed.
After India gained its independence, however, these cascades of internal problems led to more and more disunity. This essay analyzes how even
though the freedom fighters fought hard for Indian Independence, their struggles and accomplishments seem to be shadowed by the political, religious,
and social divisions and turmoil present in India today; however, the music of A.R. Rahman (specifically the songs "Desh Mere Desh" and "Bharat
Humko Jaan Se Pyaara Hain") aims to not only help understand these problems, but also encourage "Hindustanis" (citizens of India) to once again unite
with compassion and nationalistic vigor,

The Supreme Court under Article 32 and the High Courts under Article 226 of the Constitution have passed a number of orders and directions for this
concern. Like the conversion of all public transport in the Metropolitan City of Delhi from diesel engine to CNG engine on the basis of the order of
the High Court of Delhi to ensure that the pollution level is mitigated and this is being totally observed for the last several years. Now only vehicles
running on Compressed Natural Gas are given permission to ply on Delhi roads for public transport.
Louise Erdrich Bigogress, who is an environmentalist has quite aptly observed that "grass and sky are two canvasses into which the rich details of

Observing practices and customs from extended family during yearly visits is not sufficient enough for me to feel completely immersed within the
Indian world. Due to this, I don't always understand what is expected of me. At times my foreign nature has created barriers between those who were
completely part of the culture and me.
Patriarchy was one such barrier. One that set the foundation for my morals and beliefs as I submerged myself into its unfamiliar world in order to
truly understand my own familiarities. My understanding of patriarchy developed from its inherent presence in every culture I was a part of. I only
recognized the reality of how extensive and deeply embedded it was when I faced the different generations of feminist problems simultaneously.
Dealing with them at the same time is almost like an out of body experience, I am physically a part of the situation but spiritually I am able to reflect
upon it with an unbiased perspective; I thus comprehend the problems faced by both sides. I most strongly went through this experience when studying
a popular feminist novel, The Awakening. My perspective on the protagonist and plot seemed to differ from those around me. I had experienced the
first generation feminist issues presented in the novel. Not directly but through close family and friends who are still immersed in the deeply patriarchal

Research Paper On Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is a prime example of India's rich culture. A mix of Indian, Persian and Islamic characteristics, the two decade long project is a
renowned "Wonder of the World" that boasts an emotional and romantic history; it was built by Emperor Shah Jahan of the Mughal era in a splendid
tribute to his deceased wife. To this day, theTaj Mahal continues to be a famous landmark and cherished piece of Indian art. The Taj Mahal, or "crown
of palaces," was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 to be built in Agra, India, on the bank of the Yamuna River ("Taj Mahal
Facts" 1). Shah Jahan married Arjumand Banu Begum in 1612, and she was his third wife. However, Shah Jahan quickly took to her beautiful looks
and charming personality and dubbed her Mumtaz Mahal, meaning "Chosen One of the Palace" ("The Taj Mahal" 1). Being his favorite wife and
faithful companion, Mahal and Jahan traveled together frequently and came to have many children. During the birth of their fourteenth child,
however, Mumtaz Mahal tragically died. To commemorate his love for her, Jahan ordered the greatest mausoleum of all time to be built in her
honor: the Taj Mahal ("History of Taj Mahal" 1). The Taj Mahal is actually a system of buildings that consists of a mosque, an extensive flower

Hinduism Summary
The practice Hinduism poses some interesting questions for anthropologists, its is fairly unique in comparison to the other worlds religions, and
interestingly there is no founding fire. Furthermore, there is no single religious text or scripture and its dogma is not centered around one singular
omnipotent deity. Hinduism does not subscribe to a singular moral code and there is no internal structure or centralized institutions. Because of this,
anthropologists, and the general public alike, have a hard time imagining Hinduism as a religious system. In order to gain a better understanding of
Hinduism, scholars have relied on a wide variety of texts and historical events from the South Asian cultures. It has become necessary to engage in ...

Water, essential for growth of all crops, is the natural resource in shortest supply. More than 20 countries lack sufficient water to grow enough food for their people. The situation is getting worse as needs for water rise along with population growth, urbanization and increases in household and industrial uses. According to a UN report two–thirds of mankind will suffer moderate to severe water crisis within next 30 years if remedial steps are not taken. World Bank report estimates 5 million deaths from unsafe drinking water and investments to the tune of $ 600 billion worldwide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A team of scientists and researchers of Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi has made detailed study of the problem, its dimensions and solutions. They have emphasised the need of traditional wisdom of water harvesting. They have given many details and data and proved how useful it can be to make use of our time– tested, age–old and traditional water harvesting system. These traditional methods of water harvesting have been in constant practice from time immemorial in the country, among various communities and villages. They evolved highly decentralised system of water harvesting suited to local conditions. We need to return to the same wisdom and revive the old water harvesting system and structure. Millennium Development Goal number 7, target 10 aims to halve the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation by 2015 . Water scarcity could threaten progress to reach this target. Good water management also reduces breeding sites for such insects as mosquitoes that can transmit diseasees and prevents the spread of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Religion In Water The film is titled 'Water' as water has religious significance to the Hindus. Water is thought to have spiritual cleansing powers which means all water is believed to be sacred. There are seven specific sacred rivers; The Yamuna, Godavari, Sarasvati, Narmada, Kaveri, Sindhu and Ganges. b) Religion and Culture: The Hindu religion is very different to what we know, especially for women. To the people who live their lives devoted to Hinduism, it's more than just a religion, it's a culture. Women, though regarded as extremely important, are not given equal rights. This holds back the people in this culture as if so many people of the population aren't give the same opportunities as men are the nation in itself could be missing out on so much. These women have the potential to do a lot more, yet are held back as all they're expected to do with their lives are marry and have children. Part of this relates back to the caste system, if no one is equal there's no place for the nation to develop. c) The Hindu caste system consists of five different groups, the Brahmins, the Kshatriyas, the Vaisyas,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, the statement does have truth, but it doesn't mean it is right. Obviously religion does create a lot of conflict with different religions having views on different things such as women's rights, different rules to obey and practices. The film 'Water' concentrates on the role of women, specifically widows, in 1930's India. It's true that Hinduism is the sole reason for everything that happens in this film, if it didn't exist Chuyia wouldn't have been married as a child and the widow's wouldn't have been cast out of society. It's hard to develop further as a nation if women aren't allowed to do the same things and have the same experiences as men. Imagine how many things could be discovered and allow us to progress further if women were allowed the express themselves as much as men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although Delhi has prospered as the capital of modern India, its population is spiralling upwards due to rapid economic expansion and increased job opportunities. The downside of this inflation, is chronic overcrowding, traffic congestion, child labour, housing shortages, pollution, and unfortunately unfair educational opportunities to local children. Although New Delhi is a fast growing city, some of their political opinions are outdated, like their lack of commitment to the human right to education. Many schools around New Delhi have denied students access to their schools. A majority of the victims in this case are children who belong to economically weaker , or refugee families in New Delhi, and cannot provide correct papers to enter the school, some have even been denied access for lack of hygiene. One child was denied entrance to school on complaint of his poor hygiene and was asked to take his admission somewhere else (iGovernment). When many of these families cannot even afford food on their table for their children, lack of hygiene should not be a reason to deny a child their right to an education. This incident isn't the only case in which a student was turned away from school, surveys taken around the local New Delhi schools reported, "twenty three per cent of children stated that they have differently–abled (disabled) children in their schools; main ... Mughal architectural is a great historical source as it reflects on imperial ideology of the time. The Mughals drew upon various architectural traditions– indigenous Indian traditions, Indo Islamic architecture form the Sultanate period, Persian traditions, European traditions and introduced their own Timurid traditions of Central Asia. Right from Babur to Aurangzeb, architecture was used to assert power and seek legitimacy by the Mughals. Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, coming from the lush lands of Ferghana and being constantly on the move in India, mainly laid out gardens in Hindustan instead of large buildings. Yearning for the gardens of his homeland, Babur introduced a new Timurid garden– the charbagh into India, impacting subsequent Mughal architecture profoundly. The Charbagh was a symmetrical terraced garden divided into four equal parts by water channels and raised pathways, dotted with fountains, pavilions and trees. Essay The Ban-Yatra Pilgrimage If you are ready to leave father and mother, and brother and sister, and wife and child and friend, and never see them again... then you are ready for a walk. –Henry David Thoreau (Haberman 12) Introduction: The pains of pilgrimage are deep and various. They are found not simply in the physical walking, but also in the walking away from physical and mental comfort. In his book, Journey Through the Twelve Forests, David L. Haberman describes in graphicdetail the parting and participatory pains as he journeys on the Ban–Yatra pilgrimage. The Ban–Yatra (literally 'forest journey') is a 200–mile circuit through the forests associated with Lord Krishna's activities around Braj, a town in central India. Krishna is a deity favored ... This paper will explore the necessary co–presence of intense pain and sheer bliss in the Ban–Yatra, evaluating precisely how this tension is necessary in building the pilgrim's relationship with Krishna. The pilgrim's relationship with and reverence for Shiva and Radha will serve as markers in this outsider's account, guiding in the understanding of the nature of the pilgrim's pain and consequent joy. I. Entering a relationship with Krishna by following Shiva Ironically, the Ban–Yatra – a celebration of Krishna – begins at a Shiva temple. In many respects, the ways of Shiva, the brooding mountain–ascetic, are contradictory to the ways of Ban–Yatra pilgrims. The human condition is one of restlessness, "there is a haunting lack which engenders the incessant flight from on thing to another," Haberman observes (Hab 7). Ascestism, commonly associated with the Hindu term 'tapas', seeks to alleviate the discontentment of this condition by self–mastery – the controlling of one's kama, or desire. The ascetic devotes his or her energy to performing austerities and fixating on one stable point of zero desire. By transcending the tumultuous play of the world, the ascetic attempts to seek perfection. In contrast, Haberman explains, "the religion of Braj involves the cultivation of desire," not the elimination (Hab 28). The Ban–Yatra pilgrim believes that all of life is Krishna's play – lila – and that life's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Personal Experience Essay : My Experience In My Life Last weekend my beautiful friend Yamuna was married in a storm of confetti and colour and I have never experienced anything like it. The air was close and we spent the weekend in a haze of heat and sunshine, sleeping on a rooftop under the stars and celebrating their love. (I can't explain just how special it is to know that our first Indian marriage was the love marriage of such a dear friend). We travelled out to her village– a nine hour drive from Hyderabad– by semi–sleeper bus. The adventures began early, as at quarter past four in the morning the bus stopped and we all got off to stretch our legs. Outside the sky was clear, icy black with abundant stars. We trailed behind a group of sari–clad women down a dusty street in the darkness, not entirely sure of where we were, looking for a washroom. We passed a building and one of them said "It is open only." Naively I think this means the bathroom is inside, and unlocked. It turned out that in rural India "open" doesn't mean unlocked but non–existent. We walk further down, and suddenly about a dozen of these sari–clad women squat together, to do their business on a quiet patch of the roadside. I think it's fair to say that whatever I thought culture shock was when I first arrived here was nothing to what I felt last weekend. Everything was so different to our Hyderabad home. It felt like I was relearning how to conquer India all over again. The bus deposits us in one village, about five am, and we climb off looking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Judicial Evolution Of Appointment Of Commissions The system would lead to grave injustice particularly in case where the parties to the litigation are not balanced in economic strength. The litigants belonging to un privileged segment of the society are bound to be at a disadvantage as against an economically strong opponent under the adversarial system because difficulty in securing a competent legal representation also due to inability to produce relevant pieces of evidence before the courts. Hence, when approached the courts for enforcement of their FRs, it became necessary to lay down new procedure, to make this possible by the courts. New tools were forged "for making the FRs meaningful to the large segments of people". So in cases where poor litigants or citizens bona fide approached the courts, they could not expect the formers to produce relevant material before them in support of their case. The adoption of a passive approach and declining to intervene would render FRs "a teasing illusion" for such litigants. The appropriate answer was the judicial evolution of appointment of commissions for gathering facts and data with respect to a complaint of a violation of a FR made on behalf of weaker segments. Consequent reports of commissioners appointed will furnish prima facie evidence the relevant facts and information gathered by the commissioners and that is the case why such commissioners would have to be responsible individuals; who enjoys the confidence of the court for making an inquiry into the facts of the case ... Both empires' gardens were attributed to be paradise gardens linking them to Eden in the Quran. Aesthetically, Safavid palace gardens' shape and iconography correlated directly with the metaphysical and religious interpretation of an Islamic garden. "The figure of the chahar bagh has been interpreted to denote the four quarters or directions of the universe. The orthogonal waterways have been seen to symbolize the four rivers of Eden; the water as the Christian and Muslim symbol of moral and sacred purification". Many other interpretations come alongside this, but philosophical readings of the Safavids and their history yield that their intents were not all holly but their political agenda and legitimacy drove their paradise garden building. In comparison, Mughals built tombs within gardens to link to notions of earth and paradise. Babur began this tradition; in which he had instructed his tomb in a garden with the grave open to the sky. The construction of mausoleums and funerary architecture continued on with the later Mughals such as Humayun and Shah Jahan. It began as a way of life for people in India, along the Indus Valley back in roughly 4000–10000 B.C., as traditions were added, it evolved into a religion. The people of the Indus Valley followed a code of conduct and worshipped in similar ways, but nothing was organized like a religion would be. (Barnes, 2005) In fact, it did not begin being considered a religion until travellers heard about it and needed a name/classification for it. Unlike other religions, Hinduism is based more on the individual than collective rules and group practices. Most people think of Hinduism as being polytheistic and while that may be partially correct because multiple gods are worshipped, it is also incorrect as all of the gods are really just manifestations of one supreme deity known as Brahma. These manifestations represent specific things and have specific characteristics, but they are all worshipped with the purpose of achieving salvation for the worshipper's soul. The concept of a continuum of material and ideational relations between humanity and its environment requires a nuanced approach which avoids generalizations. I theorize that one cannot argue the greater importance of either the material of ideational aspect without making dangerous assumptions. While some scholars may theorize that it is mankind's religious and ethical worldviews which shape the environment, there is also strong evidence supporting the idea of humanity's technologies and surroundings affecting religious and ethical systems. It is necessary, therefore, to acknowledge the fact of each extreme effecting the other. The material world affects the ideational and the ideational affects the material. Before concluding this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Calvin DeWitt argues for a contemporary restructuring of these views. As a Christian zoologist, DeWitt encourages Christians to think of the environment from the Creator's standpoint. By accepting the viewpoint of a loving creator God, the way that Christians acted upon the world would then be shifted to a more benevolent and caring appreciation. Another key figure who believes in the power of ideas is William Cronon. He theorized that the concept of "wilderness" was a social construct and that society treated this untouched nature with more care than the nature in their own environment. The establishment of wildlife preserves and state parks serve as excellent examples of humans attitudes and worldviews shaping the environment they occupy. On the other side of the material/ideational continuum lies the idea that the environment and human technology shapes humanity's ideologies and cosmologies. One of the best examples of this concept in action is revealed in the research of John Snarey. It is known to be a complex mausoleum that combines Persian, Islamic, and Indian influences, and is one of the "world's most celebrated structures and stunning symbols of India's rich history". From Sanskrit, Tejo Mahalay (Taj Mahal) means "The Great Abode of Tej". In the Hindu religion, the name Shiva translates to Tejaji and Mahalay means mansion. Therefore, the Taj should have been known to be a Temple Palace of Lord Shiva, Hindu God. Mumtaz wasShah Jahan's most beautiful and devoted wife who was "content to have lots of children with her husband died giving birth to their fourteenth child". The Taj Mahal was meant to be a remembrance of Mumtaz, but the structure of the building proves otherwise; the Taj Mahal should be viewed as a temple, not a tomb. Temples are often built on river banks and sea benches. The Taj Mahal was built on the banks of the Yamuna River, which was the ideal location for a Shiva Temple. Like the conversion of all public transport in the Metropolitan City of Delhi from diesel engine to CNG engine on the basis of the order of the High Court of Delhi to ensure that the pollution level is mitigated and this is being totally observed for the last several years. Now only vehicles running on Compressed Natural Gas are given permission to ply on Delhi roads for public transport. Louise Erdrich Bigogress, who is an environmentalist has quite aptly observed that "grass and sky are two canvasses into which the rich details of the earth are drawn." In 1980s, the courts paid special attention to the problem of environmental degradation and passed a number of directions and orders to make sure the that environment ecology, wildlife are saved, preserved and protected. • 37. I Was Born on the Silk Road "I cannot imagine physically stepping out of Florida." The words of my fellow classmate rang in my head. I could not fathom the thought of staying in one place; this seemed too foreign and strange to comprehend, as though it was against my nature, my identity. My mind and body have been in motion throughout my life; flowing, and changing as I grew up in India, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE and America. Each holds a foothold in my identity, without complete immersion in any. The motions in my life–helped shape my perspective, behavior, and beliefs but most importantly, it made me realize my identity is an ever–shifting stream of energy. It is built upon a process of imitation, innovation and challenges from a multicultural compilation of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Observing practices and customs from extended family during yearly visits is not sufficient enough for me to feel completely immersed within the Indian world. Due to this, I don't always understand what is expected of me. At times my foreign nature has created barriers between those who were completely part of the culture and me. Patriarchy was one such barrier. One that set the foundation for my morals and beliefs as I submerged myself into its unfamiliar world in order to truly understand my own familiarities. My understanding of patriarchy developed from its inherent presence in every culture I was a part of. I only recognized the reality of how extensive and deeply embedded it was when I faced the different generations of feminist problems simultaneously. Dealing with them at the same time is almost like an out of body experience, I am physically a part of the situation but spiritually I am able to reflect upon it with an unbiased perspective; I thus comprehend the problems faced by both sides. I most strongly went through this experience when studying a popular feminist novel, The Awakening. My perspective on the protagonist and plot seemed to differ from those around me. I had experienced the first generation feminist issues presented in the novel. Not directly but through close family and friends who are still immersed in the deeply patriarchal ... • 38. Research Paper On Taj Mahal The Taj Mahal is a prime example of India's rich culture. A mix of Indian, Persian and Islamic characteristics, the two decade long project is a renowned "Wonder of the World" that boasts an emotional and romantic history; it was built by Emperor Shah Jahan of the Mughal era in a splendid tribute to his deceased wife. To this day, theTaj Mahal continues to be a famous landmark and cherished piece of Indian art. The Taj Mahal, or "crown of palaces," was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 to be built in Agra, India, on the bank of the Yamuna River ("Taj Mahal Facts" 1). Shah Jahan married Arjumand Banu Begum in 1612, and she was his third wife. However, Shah Jahan quickly took to her beautiful looks and charming personality and dubbed her Mumtaz Mahal, meaning "Chosen One of the Palace" ("The Taj Mahal" 1). Being his favorite wife and faithful companion, Mahal and Jahan traveled together frequently and came to have many children. During the birth of their fourteenth child, however, Mumtaz Mahal tragically died. To commemorate his love for her, Jahan ordered the greatest mausoleum of all time to be built in her honor: the Taj Mahal ("History of Taj Mahal" 1). The Taj Mahal is actually a system of buildings that consists of a mosque, an extensive flower garden, a reflecting pool, and a variety of burial buildings, including one for Emperor Shah Jahan himself . Because of the monumental size of the project, the Taj Mahal was not completed until 1653; it took ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Hinduism Summary The practice Hinduism poses some interesting questions for anthropologists, its is fairly unique in comparison to the other worlds religions, and interestingly there is no founding fire. Furthermore, there is no single religious text or scripture and its dogma is not centered around one singular omnipotent deity. Hinduism does not subscribe to a singular moral code and there is no internal structure or centralized institutions. Because of this, anthropologists, and the general public alike, have a hard time imagining Hinduism as a religious system. In order to gain a better understanding of Hinduism, scholars have relied on a wide variety of texts and historical events from the South Asian cultures. It has become necessary to engage in ...
