Essay on The Iconic Rod Sterling Spoke Out Against Socialism
The iconic Rod Serling contributed to televisions "Golden Age", the writer and director of the very
accomplished series " The Twilight Zone" and "The Night Gallery", has not only dazzled the world
with his mind boggling work in the expansive sci–fi genre but has also successfully utilized his
position in television and radio to speak out against socialism. During World War II, Serling fought
Nazi forces in Europe. It was there that he realized the true "wrongs" in the world. Serling
understood the world had been blinded by socialist eyes and poisoned by prejudice hearts. He found
that with television he could "take a part of the problem, and using a small number of people, get my
point across." In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of this "upside down" film the Statue of Liberty is shown with the haggard face of a
monkey instead of the glorious statue we know today, too Serling's credit. He found a way to
utilized such eerie details like this in order to tell the audience what is happening without actually
needing the characters to speak at this point. Lady Liberty has been transformed therefore the world
did not belong to the human race, something left unsaid at the end of this cinematic picture. Another
example of Serling's work against socialism is in the ingenious tale of "The Shelter," 1961 nuclear
war has unleashed hell and those who were caught in the fray desperately sought shelter. An episode
such as this was based on human morals and questioned what man was willing to do for the sake of
another man. Serling lifted the veil of ignorance by giving the gift of awareness. It is in this glorious
achievement that the world can truly see Serling's genius, because when we are made aware of our
mistakes as people, there can be no excuse for what we continue to do. Serling was audacious
enough to ask the people of this earth to question themselves along with their humanity. In the
closing of the episode "The Shelter," Serling explained what he believed to be humanity's greatest
struggle, "No moral, no message, no prophetic tract, just a simple state of fact: for civilization to

Informative Essay: Why Fly Fishing Is A Technical Sport
Fly Fishing The act of fishing is to catch fish either for food or sport. There are various types of
fishing; one of those types being fly fishing. Fly fishing dates further back to the second century,
and is popular in modern day. The sport requires specific equipment including a fly rod, reel, and
flies. Fly fishing is a method of angling a long rod to cast artificial flies that imitate the natural food
sources of fish. Unlike spin fishing which uses light weight line and a heavy lure, fly fishing
requires a heavy line to propel the light fly forward. Fly fishing is a technical sport that gives angler
the ability to make decisions and apply skills to receive a one of a kind experience. It is not certain
where fly fishing originated, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flies are the a fly fisher's equivalent to the spin fisher's lure. Flies imitate different living things to
scheme a fish into taking the bait. Originally, the fly was a simple bit of leather and fur on a hook
that imitated a mayfly and used to catch trout (Kaminsky 57). Presently, fly fishers angle for a
variety of fish species. The term fly not only refers to insects, but also imitations of crawfish, frogs,
mice, shrimp, and many others. Three basic fly types include dry, wet, and streamer. Dry flies float
on top of the water and is preferred by trout anglers. The traditional dry fly is composed of a tail,
body, and wing. The tail is made of hackle that allows the fly to float. Composing the body of the fly
is fur wound around a hook with silk thread. Finally, the wing is built with soft body feathers of a
wood duck (Kaminsky 94). While dry flies are meant to float on top of the water, we flies sink
below the surface. The classic wet fly is constructed with the same parts as a dry fly, but the wing
lays flat. Also, the hackle softer so that the wet fly rides in or under the film (Kaminsky 95). Finally,
streamers are constructed as the basic imitation of small fish. Streamer patterns started out as a pair
of feathers tied lengthwise along the shaft of a hook. More developed streamers include hackle
feathers wound around the head of the hook to give the fly a lifelike motion in the water

Descriptive Essay About Fishing
Today was one of those really hot days in July where you would stay inside all day with the AC
on.In fact, it was so hot that my thermostat in my backyard was going crazy. If you were stupid
enough to go outside the skin on your face would probably melt off and have nothing left but bones
when you first laid foot out the door.My grandpa and I were one of those really dumb ones by going
fishing today.I sprinted down the hill in my front yard into my grandpa Joe 's old pickup truck.
"So grandpa waits kinda fish do you catch in this pond?" I asked.
"Well you know we catch sunnies, catfish, perch, and some big bass, you know there 's a rumor
going around that some guy caught a 20lb bass at this exact pond" he responded back.I imagined

"I could have caught a fish but this stupid rod got in my way!" I screamed furiously at my

to say I ran up to the truck and got the newest spinning rod he had.
I ran to the spot under the tree near the water adjacent to the original spot I was.I dug another worm

The Benefits Of Fly Fishing : Fly Fishing Methods
Fly fishing is an ancient angling method in which artificial flies are tied onto a hook to imitate
naturally occurring food. These artificial flies are made out of materials such as fur and feather.
Rods are generally light while the lines are heavy in weight, providing the proper weight and
momentum for casting. Because of the ease of learning, fly fishing has become an enjoyable past
time for many people of all ages.
Fly fishing is most renowned as a method for catching salmon and trout, but is also known for
catching pike, panfish, bass and carp as well. Fly fishing can also be used to catch marine species
such as: snook, bonefish, striped bass and redfish. There are also reports of fly fisherman
expectantly catching species such as bream, rudd and chub while intending to catch trout. For the
fisherman who is hoping to catch a variety of tasty species, fly fishing may be the best method.
If you are new to the sport of fly fishing, you may want to study up on the best ways to enjoy this
exciting activity. Luckily there are many websites, television shows, and books all geared to help
obtain helpful fly fishing tips. Of course one of the easiest ways to gather information is to find a fly
fishing partner who has some season fly fishing experience. Many find having a mentor to be
helpful as well. It's extremely helpful to tag along on a fishing trip with an experienced fly
fisherman. This way it is easy to notice and absorb some of the methods they employ on a regular

1227). Serling also wrote for and produced multiple other television shows throughout his career.
Aronofsky has cited Serling as one of his influences for his own film work, specifically stating that
two of his favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone were "Eye of the Beholder" and "Back There"
(Carli, 1998). "Eye of the Beholder" is "a shocking morality lesson about the perception of beauty"
(Presnell & McGee, 1998, p. 19). In this paper I will discuss what parts of Aronofsky's films appear
to be taking influence from Serling and why they take influence from The Twilight Zone. Serling
and Aronofsky have left their mark on the industry and part of the reason they have both done so is
because of The Twilight Zone.
Darren Aronofsky's Pi
Aronofsky's first feature film was the work Pi. The film follows Max Cohen, who is a genius
mathematician. Pi is based around Max's search for a secret 216–digit number that is sought after by
several different groups. One of the two main groups that are after Max's work is a group of agents
from Wall Street who want the number in order to help them solve the stock market so that they can
be rich. The other group is a group of Jews who want the number because they believe it is their
path to god. The movie shows Max's struggles with his own genius and with the groups that are after
his genius ability.

The Rod Of Justice Character Analysis
Gender equality can be a very complex subject, throughout the years power has been correlated to
gender. In Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis, "The Rod of Justice" gender inequities are represented
with a great level of complexity and difficult understanding. Throughout the text one can sense
Machado's involvement over authority and control, and how the characters portray this subject. The
story is focus on Damiao, who is the main character. Damiao was seeking escape from his seminary
obligations, and he requests the aid of his godfather's mistress, Sinha Rita. He knew that if she could
use her sexual powers over his godfather she could help him escape his obligations. She is portrayed
in the story as having a power over the people who surrounded her, as her authority was not
questioned nor overruled. She had sexual power over Joao Carneiro, and also had to power to
manipulate the actions of Damiao, but this power was interesting as in society in those times women
had limited power which was not compared to the power men had. Nonetheless, Rita proves to be a
well independent women, doing things under her own power. She would have been a women of
great power, if she had the chance to live in the 21st century, and how society has altered the gender
role of a woman since. As the story develops, readers can immediately perceive how Damiao can
manipulate Rita's power to his advantage and influence her for his benefit. In a way Damiao uses a
form of challenge to trick Rita into

Plastic Surgery In Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone

people want to change themselves not only in their appearance but also the way they act. The

Beam Hammer Essay
DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF BEAM HAMMER
Abstract
Beam hammer is a device which works on the principle of beam engine or inversion of four bar
mechanism. Cast iron plates are used to construct the rigid beam engine mechanism which is one of
the applications of four bar chain. The wooden bed is used to absorb the vibrations caused while
operating the system. Nuts and bolts are made up of carbon steel which is capable of withstand
deformation while reciprocating motion takes place. The hammer and the work rest are made up of
mild steel because while hammer hitting the work piece deformation occurs both in the hammer and
the work rest. To prevent the deformation, the mild steel is chosen in our project. When the crank is
rotated, according to the beam engine mechanism it is converted into reciprocating motion on the
other side through inversion of four bar mechanism, is achieved a prescribed hammering action on
the cast iron work piece.
1. Introduction
1.1 Beam Engine Mechanism
It is based on four bar chain mechanism. The function of the mechanism is to convert the rotary
motion of the crank into reciprocating motion [1]. In this mechanism, when the crank AB rotates
about the fixed centre A, the lever CDE oscillates about the centre D and the end of the lever E is
connected to a piston rod which reciprocates in the cylinder as shown in Figure 1.
Rigid material is used to withstand deformation and vibration caused by the lever for designing the
beam of the mechanism [7].

The Twilight Zone By Rod Serling
The Twilight Zone
Do you think fear can kill? "For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a
thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own – for the children and the
children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to The Twilight Zone"
("Rod"). In 1959, one of the most popular television series was The Twilight Zone, wrote and
produced by Rod Serling. The series includes many tales and adventures that are very thought
provoking. The Twilight Zone highlights the tragedies during the 1950's, specifically in the episode,
"The Monsters are Due on Maple Street". The Twilight Zone contains five seasons but only thirty–
six of the episodes were during the 1950's and 1960's, and were based on fear and catastrophe. The
later episodes of the 1960's reflected the catastrophes in the 1950's. In The Twilight Zone episode,
"The Monsters are Due on Maple Street", the events display tragedies of the 1950's, like the Red
Scare, McCarthyism, and the Space Race.
The Twilight Zone episode "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" originally aired on March 4,
1960, and is told in third person by an outside narrator. The episode takes place in the 1960's on a
Saturday afternoon. "Maple Street, U.S.A., late summer. A tree–lined little world of front porch
gliders, hop scotch, the laughter of children, and the bell of an ice cream vendor". The series is a
science fiction or fantasy series. The episode shows that humanity

Your Body Mechanics is basically the way you as an person will cast a fly rod vs. someone else. If
you are just beginning to fly cast, have someone who can annualize your cast to help you. You need
to be able to cast a little and have a basic understanding of what a good cast looks/feels like. The
best place to do this is a real FLY SHOP!
What is Rod Action? Fly Rod action is the way and/or where the rod bends along its length during
the casting stroke. The rod bends from the weight of the fly line pulling (or causing resistance)
against the tip of the rod, otherwise known as "LOADING". Stopping the rods movement and
releasing the energy is " unloading" the rod. Where or how much of the rod bends or how much
resistance it takes to bend the rod, determines the action.
There are basically four actions. Slow action, very flexible, loads very easy, takes a very good and
smooth casting stroke to cast well.
Soft or medium, flexes down about half way down the rod, also loads easier than the faster rods.
Also takes a developed casting stroke to cast

tasks on his drug abuse. In an interview with CIBC Ford apologizes for his actions and states, "I

Mayor Ford decided to enter rehab when he found himself unable to function day to day. After the
previous incidents, city council decided to revoke many of Ford's privileges and powers as mayor.
Ford had lost the trust of not only the people of Toronto, but city hall as well. Mayor Ford's racist,

The Invention Of Lightning Rod
"When the only tool you have is a hammer, all problems begin to resemble nails" (Abraham
Maslow). How might this apply to ways of knowing, as tools, in the pursuit of knowledge? It is
possible that if we do not use Ways of Knowing in a too contracted and consistent way, it may limit
the expanse and form of knowledge we are able to acquire. When attempting to acquire knowledge,
one must have assets that will assist the process of solving issues. To a certain degree, Ways of
Knowing are not sufficient tools in the process of acquiring knowledge that will assist one in solving
problems because too much information comes with each Way of Knowing. Areas of Knowledge
such as human sciences and history can aid the focus of the Ways of Knowing reason and perception
where you can only acquire relevant information necessary to solve problems. It can be said that
originally technology was invented to improve the lives of the human race. For instance, the
invention of lightning rod in the year 1752 where "Benjamin Franklin 's electricity experiments lead
him to a valuable application –– the lightning rod, which when placed at the apex of a barn, church
steeple, or other structure, conducts lightning bolts harmlessly into the ground"(PBS). Although
technology is not a reality for everyone in the world, for instance, the Amish, it can be said that
technology has improved quality of life for many. Benjamin Franklin's discovery of electricity has

one of the numerous examples to illustrate this is the build up to the atrocities in Nazi Germany. It

How to catch salmon really boils down to two methods, trolling and mooching. Assuming you have
done the research, you know the runs are in progress, the newspapers indicate that fishing is good,

Always prepare and get everything you will need the night before. Why the night before? Because

The Portrayal Of The Future In The Twilight Zone By Rod...
The portrayal of the future has always been a common theme in TV shows and is influenced by
various political and social issues during the time each show is produced. The Twilight Zone was a
science fiction TV series created by Rod Serling in 1960s that depicted the occurrence of
paranormal or futuristic events. Before each episode, Serling describes The Twilight Zone as a fifth
dimension as large as space with no essence of time. He calls it "the middle ground between light
and shadow, between science and superstition, lying between man's fears and his own knowledge."
Serling used his TV show to incorporate his views on social and political issues. Rod Serling fought
against large TV networks that attempted to censor his work that sometimes ... Show more content

Terry Decker landing his WWI bi–plane on an American airfield in France . Decker believes that the
date is March 5, 1917, but is surprised when Major Wilson informs him that it is March 5, 1959.
Decker is shocked by how advanced the American base is, with larger aircraft towering over his
small plane. General Harper and Major Wilson note Decker's clothing and believe that he is part of a
nearby airshow. Decker attempts to convince them he is from 1917 and argues that he and Captain
MacKaye were fighting German pilots when MacKaye was overwhelmed and Decker was
swallowed like a vacuum inside a cloud, but Harper and Wilson inform him that MacKaye is on his
way to the air field. Decker reveals that he did not live up to his reputation and was a coward on the
battlefield. He reveals that he actually left MacKaye to die and flew into the cloud to run away from
combat; He also confesses that he sometimes considered giving up and landing behind enemy lines.
Decker is unable to comprehend that MacKaye is still alive and believes that he must go back to
1917 in order to save MacKaye and allow for the meeting to take place in 1959. While Decker is
running to his plane, viewers are able to catch a glimpse of how advanced the American base is with
departing fighter jets and futuristic helicopters landing in contrast to how primitive Decker's plane
is. The Last Flight was influenced by the race for air superiority between the Soviet Union and US
and the belief that air superiority coincided with national security. The portrayal of the American
airbase as being a superior air force with advanced technology than that of the British and French
also supports the argument of air superiority being a priority during those times. Decker's stance on
war echoed the growing public anti–war sentiment that was prevalent in the United States during the
Vietnam War . This anti–Vietnam sentiment grew from a newly vocal youth culture in the 1960s that

Rods And Cones Interpretation
The article titled Rods & Cones is very interesting explaining to the the reader what happens in our
eyes. In the human retina there are two types of photoreceptors, rods and cones. The rods and cones
have different purposes. The rods are responsible for vision at low light, which is called scotopic
vision. The cones are active for light at higher levels, called photopic vision. The cones are capable
of color vision and are responsible for high spatial acuity. The rods on the other hand "do not
mediate color vision, and have a low spatial acuity." There are 3 different types of cones short–
wavelength, middle–wavelength and long–wavelength sensitive cones. The article explains that
turtles, fish, frogs and we humans all have different shapes and sizes of receptors across and within a
species. Figure 1. presents a schematic diagram of the rods and cones. In this figure, one can see in
the outer segments of rods the cell membrane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Positive reinforcement has nothing to do, whether the behavior is good or bad. It is rather the
consequence of presenting something pleasant, such as a reward, money or sex. On the other hand,
negative reinforcement is the removal of something unpleasant. Both positive and negative
reinforcement strengthens our behavior. In order for our vision to occur, we need to receive and
process what we see out in the natural world. The simulation example, stated that light is going to
the eyes or sound wave traveling to the ear. In order for us to react to what we observe, we need to
use the rods and cones based on the different situations we face on a daily basis. Use an example of
someone in a dark room. The eye would naturally use the rods in your eye to obtain what the
environment is like around you. On the other hand, if you were at the beach or a light room you
would use the cones in your eyes for the high light

Cone Cells
All living organism relies heavily on their senses for survival. The sensations felt by an organism
allow it to navigate around, detect food source, detect harm, regulate body temperature and
chemicals, change in pressure, etc. Each sensation is produce after a stimulus is registered by a
receptor and since there are different kinds of sensation, there are also different types of receptor to
accommodate each stimulus. Photoreceptors, like the name suggested are specialized cells that is
capable of transducing light into visible sensation. In human, as well as other mammals, there are
two primary type of photoreceptor cells, rod and cone cells, both of which locates in the retina. Rod

Thermoreceptors are specialized nerve cells that have free nerve endings that locate beneath the
skin. When these thermoreceptors detect a change in temperature, the information is sent via
afferent neurons up the spinal cord and to the brain, more specifically the hypothalamus. After
information is integrated in the hypothalamus, nerve impulses are sent via the efferent neurons to the
appropriate locations of the body that will response to the temperature. Many organisms utilize
thermoreceptors to assist in maintaining their homeostasis and keeping a constant temperature.
Human and other endotherms are organisms that are capable of regulating their body temperature by
generating internal heat to maintain a close temperature set point. When the temperature is too high,
the body will response by sweating, the evaporation of sweat will reduce the kinetic energy, which
will reduce the temperature on the skin surface. The blood vessels will also vasodilate, bringing
more blood to the surface, allowing more heat to escape the body. On the contrary, when it is cold,
the blood vessels will vasoconstrict, keeping the blood in the core of the body, which will keep the
heat within our body. Shivering will also generate heat by using energy to cause muscle movements.
Another mechanism to endotherms use to generate heat is to uncoupled electron transport chain and
chemiosmosis in cellular respiration within

A Brief Look at the Work of Evan Holloway
Evan Holloway resists any definite classifications. Holloway employs a wide variety of found
objects such as tree branches, tires, and barbed wire, but also sculptural material such as steel and
paper–Mache.
Holloway incorporates a lot of the figural objects into his sculptures. Small crudely formed faces
created with sculptamould which is a material similar to plaster, are often found in his work. Usually
adhered to steel rods or peering out from the side of the boxes. Each face is painted to highlight the
eyes and mouth, therefore each expresses a certain degree of personality. For the work of 58, this
face motif appears repeating itself fifty eight times. The work is part of an ambitious series of one
hundred total works that presents a numbered sculpture with the corresponding amount of
sculptamould faces easily balanced on steel rods. Based on doomsday theories about population
growth, this sculpture is at once calculated and rigorous but also playful and amusing to look at.
When I look at this piece I see something different that I have never seen because when you first
look at it you think "what is this?" it's very random, but when you take a close look at it like at the
face molds you see the face expressions on them and each one is different like there trying to tell a
story about what's going on. As well as it look like a depressing story was being told about lost souls

Difference Between Fly Fishing And Spin Fishing
"Fly Fishing Vs Spin Fishing": Fly fishing is a fishing experience that is unlike any other. Being up
in the clear mountain waters just casting away, time flies faster than ever. Even on a day when the
fish aren't biting, and it just seems like the nothing can go right, just being there is enough to pass
the day. Then there are those days when catching a fish is effortless, every knot that is tied is perfect,
and every cast is better than the last one; those are the days that are unforgettable. There have been
times when it seems as if it is getting dark after just a few casts. Fly fishing is something that
everyone should try. Fly fishing and spin fishing, how are they different; how are they similar? Fly
fishing is the casting of artificial flies that come in all styles and sizes, in order to catch a fish. This
style of fishing is mostly done in streams and creeks for various types of trout. Spin fishing is the
casting of artificial, or live bait in order to catch various types of freshwater fish. Most spin fishing
is done is rivers, lakes, and ponds. "The only real similarity between the two is that they both catch
fish. However, that is where the similarities stop"("The Difference Between..."). This means that
everything else is different in its own way. Fly fishing is different from spin fishing in its techniques,
baits, and equipment.
The first difference between fly–fishing and spin fishing is in their techniques. The first technique is
casting. Fly fishing uses a

Fishing Of Fishing : A Small Fish Hanging On The Wall,...
In my basement, there is an enormous fish hanging on the wall, caught by my great grandfather. It is
a trophy demonstrating his immense knowledge and skill when it comes to fishing. My great
grandfather taught my grandfather how to fish, my grandfather taught my father how to fish, and my
father taught me how to fish. Fishing is a tradition that has been part of my family for many years,
and I know quite a bit about the subject as a result. In addition, I have done extensive research on
the subject not only in this class, but also on my own in order to become better at fishing. Today, I
am here to talk to you all about crappie fishing. When it comes to this sport, there are four main
aspects to mention. First, I will examine the crappie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A crappie diet consists of smaller fish, crustaceans, insects, and zooplankton. This will become
important later on when it comes to the proper tackle to use for crappie fishing. The last important
fact about crappie is their spawning behavior. They typically lay their eggs between May and June,
during which they move to shallow waters and make nests.
The second aspect of crappie fishing is understanding the correct fishing tackle to use. As for the rod
and reel, there are an infinite number of choices. For this reason, a general crappie rod and reel will
work for any type of crappie fishing you may be doing. As for the bait, there are three main types
that I will discuss. The first bait option I will discuss is a minnow. Because crappie eat smaller fish
in their diet, a small, live fish is the best option. In order to rig your rod for this bait, you will first
need to tie a hook onto the end of your line using an improved clinch knot. After this, you will need
to place a weight about one to two feet up the line from the hook using pliers. Next, you will take a
live minnow and push the hook through both lips. Finally, it is always a good idea to place a crappie
stink bait onto the hook after the minnow. In addition to the live minnow, a jig is a fantastic bait to
use. This is a colorful plastic lure with a fuzzy bottom. In order to rig your rod for this bait, you will
need to tie the jig onto the end of the line using the

History Of Float And Fly
The Float and Fly – A Historical and Sporting View
There has been a LOT of talk about the Float and Fly lately in magazines and on regional TV shows.
The "Newest" tactic to catch big fish!
Reality is that the "Float and Fly" has been around for years. It was originally a way to catch crappie
in the winter. Fishermen used the rig to fish small jigs and minnows for crappie. The problem was
that in East Tennessee crappie and smallmouth seem to like to inhabit the same areas of the lake
during winter. Winter Crappie fishermen were breaking off a LOT of small jigs thanks too
smallmouth bass, and not just any smallmouth bass, but BIG smallmouth.
Many anglers have used the Float and Fly and many have used some form of it over the years.

The Twilight Zone By Rod Serling
Imagine a clear summer night, gazing up at the stars when all of a sudden something goes zooming
across the sky. A shooting star perhaps or could it be something more. This is how "Monsters are
Due on Maple Street" begins and ends, with the unknown. Now, there is no evidence to prove or
disprove the existence of alien life forms, but one young boy puts doubt into the minds of everyone
on Maple Street. The fear, paranoia, and suspicion the characters' experience is directly related to
real–life events that took place in the nineteen–fifties. To understand The Twilight Zone, it is
important to look at the writer and producer, Rod Serling, to gaze into his past and receive answers.
Rod Serling was born December 25, 1924 in Syracuse, New York. After graduating from high
school in 1942, Serling joined the United States Army. Experiencing the horrible acts of World War
II made Serling concerned for a moral society. Upon returning from war, Rod Serling attended
Antioch College. His senior year he began writing for CBS where he developed his unique style of
writing. By the beginning of the nineteen–fifties Serling made a full time career out of his writings.
He then went on to write for NBC. This was his break–out stage, when he wrote the hit television
series, Patterns. Throughout the fifties Serling wrote about serious issues in society. Tired of this
type of writing, Serling began writing science fiction and fantasy. According to PBS, Science

Disadvantages Of A Rod Holder

importance of a fly rod holder. But those who have just bought their dream boat and after enough of

well. By preparing I mean carrying the necessary materials like bait, rod and obviously a rod holder.
A rod holder is urgent because it's not possible for a person to handle the rod with hands all the time.
A rod holder will allow you to free your hands. Besides it provides enough support against a big fish
or any other obstacle as well as secures the rod. And mounting multiple fly rod holders enables one

Freshwater Fishing Vs. Fresh Water Fishing
Salt water fishing vs fresh water fishing Remember when you were a little kid waking up at 5 in the
morning just to go fishing. You're just hoping that today will be the day to catch the big one. You're
out there just waiting for something to hit your line. No matter whether salt–water fishing or fresh–
water fishing, it will meet every fisherman's or woman's dreams. It doesn't matter if you're out on
the lake or on the ocean, you are always guaranteed to have a good time and make memories. When
fishing either salt–water or fresh–water you think about what kind of fish you are trying to catch.
One of the most commanded fish fresh–water fish people think of is catfish. They can range from 1
pound up to 60 pounds depending on how old they are. Catfish spend most of their time swimming
on the bottom of lakes or rivers and they will usually eat everything. Catfish are usually dark in
color, so dark that they look brown. If you're more into the sport side of fishing, the first kind of
fresh water fish you think about is a large or small mouth bass. They usually like to chase their prey
down, but they don't wonder to far from their home. These fish lie around the bank waiting for a
chance to eat. Bass color markings usually consist of bright and light green. The weight range of
bass can be between a one–half pound to ten pounds. An example of salt–water fish is Mahi–Mahi.
They are very bright in colors; they vary from dark blue, to light yellow, to spots of green. A

for The Twilight Zone from his story called "The Time Element", which he had submitted to CBS,

In the episode, the setting is on a freighter called the Queen of Glasgow in the Atlantic during World
War II. A passenger named Carl Lanser finds himself on this ship, and is unable to remember how
he got there, why he is there, or what he does, yet he remembers his name and where he came from.
The one important thing about him is that he seems to have heard and seen all this before. In the
written version of this episode, Rod Serling describes this as though Lanser, "could recall seeing
them [people's faces] so many times before (page 66)." The story evolves even more when Lanser
says something will happen at 1:15. Lanser stares intently at the clock until 1:15, and suddenly the
engines stop running. All of a sudden, a U–boat shell hits the ship. Lanser runs outside with some
binoculars and looks at the U–Boat. He nearly faints at the sight of himself standing on the deck of
the U–boat. In the end, the U–boat sinks the ship, and the passengers drown. At the end of the
episode, the Carl Lanser on the U–boat discusses the event with one of his men. The man tells
Lanser that they should have warned the passengers before shooting ship, which Lanser ridicules
him for it. He says that it is wrong and that they will ultimately suffer their own personal hell for it.
The man adds that they might have to relive the experience that the passengers of the ship had as
punishment. At this point, the viewer is finally able to realize what happened. The moral of the
episode is that no one is safe from judgment, no matter what the circumstance may

The joke itself works comedically on a basic level, with audiences typically laughing at the
absurdity of it, however there is a deeper level to this joke that is explained on the DVD
commentary. Samberg goes over the origin of this gag at the request of the director, Schaffer, by
explaining that within the album Moment of Truth by Gang Starr, a certain member is sent to jail
and when the other member finds out about this, the response given is the word "what!" with the
same heavy emphases on the beginning 'h'. This contextual understand of the inspiration of this joke
makes the delivery increasingly funnier, and provides additional humor in the sense that a north–
western American amateur stuntman could be referencing such a rap album. Having just had an
argument with his dying step–father, Rod in an attempt of demonstrating the feelings of anger, rides
out into a secluded forest while drinking and begins to excessively punch dance. This dance is one
of the most obvious references in the film, towards Footloose, and mimics the punch dance scene in
a very similar way. For starters they are both set to the same song, both characters ride into the
locations in vehicles that they are both abusive too, both characters smoke and drink while dancing,
and there is an emphases on characters doing excessive numbers of flips, however in Rods case this
ends in a 50 second tumble down an absurdly large mountain. The

Essay On The Iconic Rod Sterling Spoke Out Against Socialism

  • 1. Essay on The Iconic Rod Sterling Spoke Out Against Socialism The iconic Rod Serling contributed to televisions "Golden Age", the writer and director of the very accomplished series " The Twilight Zone" and "The Night Gallery", has not only dazzled the world with his mind boggling work in the expansive sci–fi genre but has also successfully utilized his position in television and radio to speak out against socialism. During World War II, Serling fought Nazi forces in Europe. It was there that he realized the true "wrongs" in the world. Serling understood the world had been blinded by socialist eyes and poisoned by prejudice hearts. He found that with television he could "take a part of the problem, and using a small number of people, get my point across." In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of this "upside down" film the Statue of Liberty is shown with the haggard face of a monkey instead of the glorious statue we know today, too Serling's credit. He found a way to utilized such eerie details like this in order to tell the audience what is happening without actually needing the characters to speak at this point. Lady Liberty has been transformed therefore the world did not belong to the human race, something left unsaid at the end of this cinematic picture. Another example of Serling's work against socialism is in the ingenious tale of "The Shelter," 1961 nuclear war has unleashed hell and those who were caught in the fray desperately sought shelter. An episode such as this was based on human morals and questioned what man was willing to do for the sake of another man. Serling lifted the veil of ignorance by giving the gift of awareness. It is in this glorious achievement that the world can truly see Serling's genius, because when we are made aware of our mistakes as people, there can be no excuse for what we continue to do. Serling was audacious enough to ask the people of this earth to question themselves along with their humanity. In the closing of the episode "The Shelter," Serling explained what he believed to be humanity's greatest struggle, "No moral, no message, no prophetic tract, just a simple state of fact: for civilization to ... There are various types of fishing; one of those types being fly fishing. Fly fishing dates further back to the second century, and is popular in modern day. The sport requires specific equipment including a fly rod, reel, and flies. Fly fishing is a method of angling a long rod to cast artificial flies that imitate the natural food sources of fish. Unlike spin fishing which uses light weight line and a heavy lure, fly fishing requires a heavy line to propel the light fly forward. Fly fishing is a technical sport that gives angler the ability to make decisions and apply skills to receive a one of a kind experience. It is not certain where fly fishing originated, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flies are the a fly fisher's equivalent to the spin fisher's lure. Flies imitate different living things to scheme a fish into taking the bait. Originally, the fly was a simple bit of leather and fur on a hook that imitated a mayfly and used to catch trout (Kaminsky 57). Presently, fly fishers angle for a variety of fish species. The term fly not only refers to insects, but also imitations of crawfish, frogs, mice, shrimp, and many others. Three basic fly types include dry, wet, and streamer. Dry flies float on top of the water and is preferred by trout anglers. The traditional dry fly is composed of a tail, body, and wing. The tail is made of hackle that allows the fly to float. Composing the body of the fly is fur wound around a hook with silk thread. Finally, the wing is built with soft body feathers of a wood duck (Kaminsky 94). While dry flies are meant to float on top of the water, we flies sink below the surface. The classic wet fly is constructed with the same parts as a dry fly, but the wing lays flat. Also, the hackle softer so that the wet fly rides in or under the film (Kaminsky 95). Finally, streamers are constructed as the basic imitation of small fish. Streamer patterns started out as a pair of feathers tied lengthwise along the shaft of a hook. More developed streamers include hackle feathers wound around the head of the hook to give the fly a lifelike motion in the water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Descriptive Essay About Fishing Today was one of those really hot days in July where you would stay inside all day with the AC on.In fact, it was so hot that my thermostat in my backyard was going crazy. If you were stupid enough to go outside the skin on your face would probably melt off and have nothing left but bones when you first laid foot out the door.My grandpa and I were one of those really dumb ones by going fishing today.I sprinted down the hill in my front yard into my grandpa Joe 's old pickup truck. "So grandpa waits kinda fish do you catch in this pond?" I asked. "Well you know we catch sunnies, catfish, perch, and some big bass, you know there 's a rumor going around that some guy caught a 20lb bass at this exact pond" he responded back.I imagined that ... I screamed so loud people in the houses around the pond opened their windows to see what had happened. "Wow are you ok, what happened" he questioned. "I could have caught a fish but this stupid rod got in my way!" I screamed furiously at my grandpa. My eyes felt overflowing, watery full of tears. Instead of listening to what my grandpa had to say I ran up to the truck and got the newest spinning rod he had. I ran to the spot under the tree near the water adjacent to the original spot I was.I dug another worm up from the earth And put him on the hook.I cast It out to a spot that was shaded by a tree.Right, when it touches the water I felt a little tug and reeled it in. It was a Mino the size of my index finger. It was a squirmy, slippery little fish was still a little frustrated that I only caught that but I didn 't throw my rod on the ground.I showed my grandpa what I had caught and he told me to use it as bait, and even admitted that his baits were not the best.He told me to hook it through the mouth, so I did and I worked on the one spot where I saw a ripple.I was at the same spot for 45 minutes and nothing, not even a tiny little bite.At this point, I was ... Aronofsky has cited Serling as one of his influences for his own film work, specifically stating that two of his favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone were "Eye of the Beholder" and "Back There" (Carli, 1998). "Eye of the Beholder" is "a shocking morality lesson about the perception of beauty" (Presnell & McGee, 1998, p. 19). In this paper I will discuss what parts of Aronofsky's films appear to be taking influence from Serling and why they take influence from The Twilight Zone. Serling and Aronofsky have left their mark on the industry and part of the reason they have both done so is because of The Twilight Zone. Darren Aronofsky's Pi Aronofsky's first feature film was the work Pi. The film follows Max Cohen, who is a genius mathematician. In Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis, "The Rod of Justice" gender inequities are represented with a great level of complexity and difficult understanding. Throughout the text one can sense Machado's involvement over authority and control, and how the characters portray this subject. The story is focus on Damiao, who is the main character. Damiao was seeking escape from his seminary obligations, and he requests the aid of his godfather's mistress, Sinha Rita. He knew that if she could use her sexual powers over his godfather she could help him escape his obligations. She is portrayed in the story as having a power over the people who surrounded her, as her authority was not questioned nor overruled. She had sexual power over Joao Carneiro, and also had to power to manipulate the actions of Damiao, but this power was interesting as in society in those times women had limited power which was not compared to the power men had. Nonetheless, Rita proves to be a well independent women, doing things under her own power. She would have been a women of great power, if she had the chance to live in the 21st century, and how society has altered the gender role of a woman since. As the story develops, readers can immediately perceive how Damiao can manipulate Rita's power to his advantage and influence her for his benefit. Rod, "As a writer, a producer, and for many years a teacher, Serling challenged the medium of television to reach for loftier artistic goals" ("About Rod Serling"). They are pressured into trying to achieve what society believes what is true beauty throughout the process of plastic surgery or any type of trend into achieving beauty. However like Marilyn's universe, modern day society uses peer pressure, social media, and fashion trends for one to get this transformation. For example, if a girl or boy is not in a certain figure or have a certain way they look, then some people feel like they are not good enough for them to talk to them. This makes people want to change themselves not only in their appearance but also the way they act. The changes some go through is not always healthy either, people will put their life in danger to achieve an appearance. • 30. Beam Hammer Essay DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF BEAM HAMMER Abstract Beam hammer is a device which works on the principle of beam engine or inversion of four bar mechanism. Cast iron plates are used to construct the rigid beam engine mechanism which is one of the applications of four bar chain. The wooden bed is used to absorb the vibrations caused while operating the system. Nuts and bolts are made up of carbon steel which is capable of withstand deformation while reciprocating motion takes place. The hammer and the work rest are made up of mild steel because while hammer hitting the work piece deformation occurs both in the hammer and the work rest. To prevent the deformation, the mild steel is chosen in our project. When the crank is rotated, according to the beam engine mechanism it is converted into reciprocating motion on the other side through inversion of four bar mechanism, is achieved a prescribed hammering action on the cast iron work piece. 1. Introduction 1.1 Beam Engine Mechanism It is based on four bar chain mechanism. The function of the mechanism is to convert the rotary motion of the crank into reciprocating motion [1]. In this mechanism, when the crank AB rotates about the fixed centre A, the lever CDE oscillates about the centre D and the end of the lever E is connected to a piston rod which reciprocates in the cylinder as shown in Figure 1. Rigid material is used to withstand deformation and vibration caused by the lever for designing the beam of the mechanism [7]. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own – for the children and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to The Twilight Zone" ("Rod"). In 1959, one of the most popular television series was The Twilight Zone, wrote and produced by Rod Serling. The series includes many tales and adventures that are very thought provoking. The Twilight Zone highlights the tragedies during the 1950's, specifically in the episode, "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street". The Twilight Zone contains five seasons but only thirty– six of the episodes were during the 1950's and 1960's, and were based on fear and catastrophe. The later episodes of the 1960's reflected the catastrophes in the 1950's. In The Twilight Zone episode, "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street", the events display tragedies of the 1950's, like the Red Scare, McCarthyism, and the Space Race. The Twilight Zone episode "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" originally aired on March 4, 1960, and is told in third person by an outside narrator. The episode takes place in the 1960's on a Saturday afternoon. "Maple Street, U.S.A., late summer. Fly Rod action is the way and/or where the rod bends along its length during the casting stroke. The rod bends from the weight of the fly line pulling (or causing resistance) against the tip of the rod, otherwise known as "LOADING". Stopping the rods movement and releasing the energy is " unloading" the rod. Where or how much of the rod bends or how much resistance it takes to bend the rod, determines the action. There are basically four actions. Slow action, very flexible, loads very easy, takes a very good and smooth casting stroke to cast well. How might this apply to ways of knowing, as tools, in the pursuit of knowledge? It is possible that if we do not use Ways of Knowing in a too contracted and consistent way, it may limit the expanse and form of knowledge we are able to acquire. When attempting to acquire knowledge, one must have assets that will assist the process of solving issues. To a certain degree, Ways of Knowing are not sufficient tools in the process of acquiring knowledge that will assist one in solving problems because too much information comes with each Way of Knowing. Areas of Knowledge such as human sciences and history can aid the focus of the Ways of Knowing reason and perception where you can only acquire relevant information necessary to solve problems. General Harper and Major Wilson note Decker's clothing and believe that he is part of a nearby airshow. Decker attempts to convince them he is from 1917 and argues that he and Captain MacKaye were fighting German pilots when MacKaye was overwhelmed and Decker was swallowed like a vacuum inside a cloud, but Harper and Wilson inform him that MacKaye is on his way to the air field. Decker reveals that he did not live up to his reputation and was a coward on the battlefield. He reveals that he actually left MacKaye to die and flew into the cloud to run away from combat; He also confesses that he sometimes considered giving up and landing behind enemy lines. Decker is unable to comprehend that MacKaye is still alive and believes that he must go back to 1917 in order to save MacKaye and allow for the meeting to take place in 1959. While Decker is running to his plane, viewers are able to catch a glimpse of how advanced the American base is with departing fighter jets and futuristic helicopters landing in contrast to how primitive Decker's plane is. The Last Flight was influenced by the race for air superiority between the Soviet Union and US and the belief that air superiority coincided with national security. The portrayal of the American airbase as being a superior air force with advanced technology than that of the British and French also supports the argument of air superiority being a priority during those times. In the human retina there are two types of photoreceptors, rods and cones. The rods and cones have different purposes. The rods are responsible for vision at low light, which is called scotopic vision. The cones are active for light at higher levels, called photopic vision. The cones are capable of color vision and are responsible for high spatial acuity. The rods on the other hand "do not mediate color vision, and have a low spatial acuity." There are 3 different types of cones short– wavelength, middle–wavelength and long–wavelength sensitive cones. The article explains that turtles, fish, frogs and we humans all have different shapes and sizes of receptors across and within a species. Thermoreceptors are specialized nerve cells that have free nerve endings that locate beneath the skin. When these thermoreceptors detect a change in temperature, the information is sent via afferent neurons up the spinal cord and to the brain, more specifically the hypothalamus. After information is integrated in the hypothalamus, nerve impulses are sent via the efferent neurons to the appropriate locations of the body that will response to the temperature. Many organisms utilize thermoreceptors to assist in maintaining their homeostasis and keeping a constant temperature. Human and other endotherms are organisms that are capable of regulating their body temperature by generating internal heat to maintain a close temperature set point. When the temperature is too high, the body will response by sweating, the evaporation of sweat will reduce the kinetic energy, which will reduce the temperature on the skin surface. The blood vessels will also vasodilate, bringing more blood to the surface, allowing more heat to escape the body. On the contrary, when it is cold, the blood vessels will vasoconstrict, keeping the blood in the core of the body, which will keep the heat within our body. Shivering will also generate heat by using energy to cause muscle movements. Holloway employs a wide variety of found objects such as tree branches, tires, and barbed wire, but also sculptural material such as steel and paper–Mache. Holloway incorporates a lot of the figural objects into his sculptures. Small crudely formed faces created with sculptamould which is a material similar to plaster, are often found in his work. Usually adhered to steel rods or peering out from the side of the boxes. Each face is painted to highlight the eyes and mouth, therefore each expresses a certain degree of personality. For the work of 58, this face motif appears repeating itself fifty eight times. The work is part of an ambitious series of one hundred total works that presents a numbered sculpture with the corresponding amount of sculptamould faces easily balanced on steel rods. Based on doomsday theories about population growth, this sculpture is at once calculated and rigorous but also playful and amusing to look at. When I look at this piece I see something different that I have never seen because when you first look at it you think "what is this?" it's very random, but when you take a close look at it like at the face molds you see the face expressions on them and each one is different like there trying to tell a story about what's going on. Being up in the clear mountain waters just casting away, time flies faster than ever. Even on a day when the fish aren't biting, and it just seems like the nothing can go right, just being there is enough to pass the day. Then there are those days when catching a fish is effortless, every knot that is tied is perfect, and every cast is better than the last one; those are the days that are unforgettable. There have been times when it seems as if it is getting dark after just a few casts. Fly fishing is something that everyone should try. Fly fishing and spin fishing, how are they different; how are they similar? Fly fishing is the casting of artificial flies that come in all styles and sizes, in order to catch a fish. This style of fishing is mostly done in streams and creeks for various types of trout. Spin fishing is the casting of artificial, or live bait in order to catch various types of freshwater fish. In addition, I have done extensive research on the subject not only in this class, but also on my own in order to become better at fishing. Today, I am here to talk to you all about crappie fishing. When it comes to this sport, there are four main aspects to mention. First, I will examine the crappie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A crappie diet consists of smaller fish, crustaceans, insects, and zooplankton. This will become important later on when it comes to the proper tackle to use for crappie fishing. The last important fact about crappie is their spawning behavior. They typically lay their eggs between May and June, during which they move to shallow waters and make nests. The second aspect of crappie fishing is understanding the correct fishing tackle to use. As for the rod and reel, there are an infinite number of choices. For this reason, a general crappie rod and reel will work for any type of crappie fishing you may be doing. As for the bait, there are three main types that I will discuss. The first bait option I will discuss is a minnow. Because crappie eat smaller fish in their diet, a small, live fish is the best option. In order to rig your rod for this bait, you will first need to tie a hook onto the end of your line using an improved clinch knot. After this, you will need to place a weight about one to two feet up the line from the hook using pliers. Next, you will take a live minnow and push the hook through both lips. Finally, it is always a good idea to place a crappie stink bait onto the hook after the minnow. In addition to the live minnow, a jig is a fantastic bait to use. This is a colorful plastic lure with a fuzzy bottom. In order to rig your rod for this bait, you will need to tie the jig onto the end of the line using the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over 150 episodes broadcast to millions of Americans, satisfying the thirst for entertainment and curiosity of the unknown. The show's creator, narrator, and lead screenwriter Rod Serling got a kick–start for The Twilight Zone from his story called "The Time Element", which he had submitted to CBS, where it was produced as part of the Westinghouse–Desilu Playhouse anthology. A passenger named Carl Lanser finds himself on this ship, and is unable to remember how he got there, why he is there, or what he does, yet he remembers his name and where he came from. The story evolves even more when Lanser says something will happen at 1:15. Lanser stares intently at the clock until 1:15, and suddenly the engines stop running. All of a sudden, a U–boat shell hits the ship. Lanser runs outside with some binoculars and looks at the U–Boat. He nearly faints at the sight of himself standing on the deck of the U–boat.
