The first-ever meeting between these two sides took place in the Football League
Second Division on 28th October 1893 at Woolwich Arsenal’s Manor Ground in
Plumstead, south London. Liverpool won 5.0 and this result is, to date, still Arsenal’s
record home defeat in the league.

date against Arsenal, 2.1. Freddie Ljungberg had given Arsenal the lead in the

The teams have met in one League Cup Final. This took place at Wembley on 5th
April 1987. Liverpool led through Ian Rush before two goals from Charlie Nicholas
