Short Story Essay
Short Story The river was roaring past the children and their teacher, as the group of kids tried in
vain to understand the teacher's inaudible mutterings. Not one of them could understand or
comprehend what the teacher was saying, and being the lively, uncontrollable brats that they were,
they didn't care anyway. When the teacher stopped talking, he motioned for the children to follow
him along the steep, mud–covered banks of the river. The children understood this and scuttled after
him, along the dangerous route that he had selected for them.
As the teacher and the mob of children following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three children got through the nettle patch and they sat down on the boulders bordering the
river, which was now starting to break its banks. They searched around for dock leaves to soften the
intense pain of the nettle stings. When they eventually found them they returned to the boulders and
tended to their burning limbs. When they could no longer feel the stings theyrealisedthat they were
bored, and looked for something to do. One of them, Harry, saw something sparkle amid the foam in
the river, and started out to get it. The other two, Chris and Matthew, noticed what Harry was after
and chased after him frantically. As Chris and Matthew drew closer to Harry, an immense, sudden
gush of water knocked the three kids flat on their faces. Chris, who was quite tubby, and the worst
swimmer, couldn't fight the current, and was swept downstream screaming in terror. Matthew and
Harry however, fought their way back to the banks of the river, petrified at the thought of what
might happen to their friend.
While all of this was happening, the torrential rain persisted. So much so, that the teacher decided to
take the class – as quickly as possible – to some form of shelter. They ran towards a small, deserted
house about a hundred yards from the path, and waited there panting for the rain to stop. Still, no–

admiring the impeccable hand–crafted machine with tinted windows that are almost as dark as the

the dent free door, it greets me with a loud honking two beeps. Climbing into the soft black leather

having my foot on the pedal one more time. Pacing back and forth wearing out the tile beneath my
feet, the relief comes over me when the tall, exhausted salesmen approaches. Handing me the keys
and the papers proving the car is now mine I start jumping with excitement, throwing my arms
around the salesmen, hugging him tight, I thank him. Turning on my heels I dash for the door,
running to the car with a smile on my face from ear to ear, adrenaline racing, I find myself dancing
in the middle of the lot waving my arms around, spinning in circles. Catching my breath, a run my
hand over the hood of the car one more time, clicking that little grey button, hearing it welcomes me

So an operating profit ratio of 10% or more is an indicator of the operating efficiency of a business.
If its less than 10% then it indicates the inefficiency of a business.
Gross Profit Margin (%): This ratio indicates the business ability to control its production cost or
manage the margins that a company makes on products it buys and sells. The gross margin
represents the limit beyond which fall in sales prices are outside the tolerance limit.
Gross Profit Margin = (Gross Profit)/Sales ×100
Interpretation: The actual gross profit is compared with the gross profit of the previous year and
those of the other concern carrying on similar business. If the actual gross profit ratio is higher it is
an indicator of good results and vice versa.
Net Profit Margin (%): It's a ratio of the net income to sale and indicates the management's ability to
operate the business with sufficient success, and essentially expresses the cost price effectiveness of

New Semi Empirical Design Procedures For The Determination...
Karlsrud(2014) proposed new semi empirical design procedures for the determination of ultimate
shaft friction and load–displacement response of axially loaded piles in clay are proposed. A main
basis for developing the new procedures was detailed review and reassessment of results from a
series of pile load–test programs published over the past 30 years on piles well instrumented to
monitor soil and pore pressures as well as load distribution along the pile shafts. Two new
alternative procedures are proposed for predicting the ultimate shaft friction: an a approach, which
uses the normalized un drained strength based on direct simple shear tests as a main correlation
parameter, and a b approach, which uses the over consolidation ratio (OCR). Both approaches
include the effects of the plasticity index of the clay, Ip, which is shown to have an especially large
impact on the correlations when Ip 25%. In practical design, it is recommended that both methods
be used and design values be selected for the ultimate shaft friction that represents an average for
the two methods. Pile diameter, length, or stiffness or whether the pile is open or closed–ended seem
to have little impact on the shaft friction. However, a moderate effect of pile length or flexibility on
the total ultimate pile capacity comes out of the proposed t–z curves, which include some post peak
reduction. The main purpose of the study was to reduce the basic uncertainties involved with
relating ultimate shaft

Descriptive Essay About My Best Friend
My cousin, Deja Hiserote, is my best friend; she lives down the road from me in Red Scaffold,
which is in the middle of nowhere. The town where I go to school and where all my other friends,
Dupree, is nearly fifty miles from my house. To get to Red Scaffold, you have to go down south of
Dupree on Cherry Creek Road; about halfway to Red Scaffold the road begins to curve first one way
and then the other and you have to be very careful because it is a gravel road and you might find
yourself in the ditch. Last November when it cold and there was nothing to do, Deja and I decided to
go for a drive. We decided to go to Dupree because we intended to hang out with more of our
friends.
Her dad told us to take it off the wheel lock on the front tires instead of we took it off. As we got
about three or four miles from where we live, the road turn into washboards; if you have ever driven
along a gravel or dirt road in the summer, you are undoubtedly familiar with the "washboards" that
develop. We hit them going too fast, started drifting, and almost ended up in the ditch. I was
petrified when that happened and I squeezed my eyes shut and held onto my seat belt for dear life.
Then when we finally straightened out and we proceeded with our trip, we began to laugh at what
just happened. As we came upon the South of Dupree road junction; when just one whitetail deer
was standing on the side of the road and we began to slow down. As we got closer to the deer, it ran

Following were the issues being looked by Cumberland metal ventures:
¥ How to value the item which does not exist in market to guarantee individuals would end up
buying?
¥ How to promote, teach and decide the appropriate channel to dispatch the item
¥ How to approach the influencers?
¥ Demand estimates
¥ How to create a market for the pads?
¥ Product mix – What all items will be offered as they are as of now concentrating just on 11 ½ inch
pads
¥ How to guarantee supply of the pads?

Looking at the market size Cumberland has an untapped market with no real competitors. It is a big
opportunity for Cumberland to tap the pad market and become the market leaders. Looking at the
size of the market I am surprised that no player has tapped the market yet. The only difficult part
would be making people shift from asbestos pads to CMI pads and explaining them the benefits they
would have from it because people don't really care so much about the pads that go in. So the
opportunity is great they just need to get the pricing and marketing strategy right.
4. Does your price affect how much of the market you'll get? Explain.
Price is important but in this industry and scenario shall not been the main factor for how much
market share CMI would enjoy. The industry contains pads from unbranded and local manufacturers
and pads are something that are not paid attention to in the pile driving industry. The next best
alternative being asbestos is priced low but end up using 10 times more than the CMI pads. CMI
pads are also time saving and absorb more heat and need lesser replacements keeping all of this
factors in mind it wont be difficult for CMI to have the biggest market share if they are able to show
their customers the value of their pads and capture asbestos's market share too. Pricing will be key
but they do have some margins to play with as the have quality and tests to back their differentiator
that is a better, long lasting and durable

What Makes A Good Decision?
Adam wasn 't sure about this. Which was unusual, because he was usually, very sure of himself and
his decisions. In his line of work he had to be. There was no time for hesitation; no time for regrets.
He would make a decision and stick to it, no matter the cost. If it was a good decision, there would
be nothing to worry about. But if it was a bad decision, well, there was always alcohol if he needed
it, but that was rare. Not the drinking, but the bad decisions. He considered himself an elite strategist

well, you 'd better start counting your pennies; Bristol to Cardiff is quite the way." Adam had no

unpleasant man to fret over it, he was quite rude to him after all. His job paid well, in fact, he was
practically rich. Adam is what they call a pretender. He's paid to take the place of his client, often
disguising himself in order for his client to escape prison or similar trouble. His line of work is
always risky, and often leads to being chased and attacked by terrorists and government officials
alike, but he enjoys it and it always pays well. There are many like him, Adam knew this. But they
generally respected each other 's privacy and avoid each other. It 's better that way, safer. Working

was what alarmed Adam the most. Why would pretenders start to meet up now? What had caused

Cumberland Metal Industries
I.Case Analysis Overview
Cumberland Metal Industries (CMI) is one of the largest metal manufacturers in the world. The
company evolved from selling metal as a finished product to one that used it as a raw material,
increasing sales from $250,000 in 1963 to over $18,500,000 in 1979. Currently, CMI relies heavily
on SlipSeal, which is used as a high–temperature sealant in automobiles. Although CMI dominates
the market for this product, corporate sales figures decreased over the last year. As a result, the
management at CMI realized the importance of diversifying its product–line so that the company
does not rely as heavily on SlipSeal or the automobile industry.
With this in mind, CMI management was very interested in a new product that ... Show more

3.Does this product reflect the needs of the customer and is it technically sound? What are the risks
associated with marketing this product? Answering these questions is important for the long term
strategy of the firm.
IV.Analysis
A.The Market for CMI Curled Metal Pads
1.How big is the market for curled metal pads
The first critical issue for CMI to consider is the market for its curled metal pads. The company
should study the market size, existing distribution channels, and competition. Thomas Simpson, the
Group Manager at CMI, had few statistics available to determine the potential U.S. market for the
cushion pads. Based on industry sources and a 1977 Construction Engineering magazine report, he
estimated that approximately 13,000 pile hammers were owned by companies directly involved with
pile driving, with another 6,500 to 13,000 leased. He also assumed that the total of 19,500 to 26,000
hammers would operate about 30 hours per week and 25 weeks per year, which equates to 750 hours
per hammer per year. He further assumed that most jobs would average 20 feet of pile driving per

Advantages Of BMW And Toyota
2. BMW and Toyota Competitive Advantage
BMW and Toyota are expected to utilize the competitive advantage blocks to support pulling in
investors. They put effort in quality, efficiency, innovation, and responsiveness to customers.
2.1 Quality
Quality is the ability to produce a product with a high useful life, so that it can last longer than a
competitor's products. BMW is continually building up their quality to guarantee that customers are
getting value for their money (Appendix 3, 4).
BMW and Toyota assess quality differently before they report on their autos, and they perform
different tests to guarantee their quality guidelines.
BMW adjusts multi–level quality administration frameworks to guarantee the quality of their
products. Generally, their sales will decrease in light of their quality compared with their high price.
In addition, their representatives are well prepared before they work in the production line.
Additionally, they are observed by workers who were recruited just to monitor the quality (BMW
Group, 2015, para. 2).
Moreover, BMW claims to have innovative equipment in the business to create Mini or BMW autos.
On the other hand, Rolls Royce has their own extraordinary industrial facilities to produce autos by
hand, so there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To illustrate, BMW utilized an efficient innovation to lessen the amount of fuel an auto needs to
operate, which is known as "BMW Efficient Dynamics" Likewise, they created another innovation
through their inventive exploration to minimize fuel utilization and CO2 outflows, known as thermal
efficiency (BMW, 2015, para. 2). Indeed, BMW advanced the enhancement of their thermal
efficiency, the capacity of an auto to warm the motor to be prepared to drive in order to empower
customers to diminish their expenses by consuming less fuel. Hence, the amount of CO2 emissions
will decline, resulting in ecologically well–disposed autos (Automotive Engineer, 2009, para.

ANALYSIS OF A RECENT SERVICE EXPERIENCE
A recent service experience Recently, I had a very awful experience with Uber service which makes
me realize the difficulty of perfect service. I tried to call an Uber car, two month ago, to the Miami
international airport. It took about 30 minutes before the driver finally showed up and she claimed
that my apartment was very hard to locate. Meanwhile, I was aware that she barely speaks English.
She told me she just came from Cuba one month ago and only speaks Spanish but I merely speak.
According to recent study found that there are 66.37% of Miami–Dade's residents speak Spanish,
while those who only speak English make up 28.07% (MLA, 2010). Then, she set up navigation
bring me to the destination. However, she missed the first exit of highway without noticed and
refused my help. I suggestion her exist next one and go back to the first exist we just missed.
Unfortunately, she kept following the navigator, eventually stopped at a cargo warehouse and told
me she got lost. I had no choice but to use my GPS got us arrived at the airport finally. Moreover, I
was charged for those extra miles due to Uber system calculation.
Analysis the implication of this experience This negative experience makes very disappointing with
Uber. The lady is not qualified as a professional drive. She didn't offering a quality service nor cost
performance. I choose Uber instead of cab company because it is more

Introduction–
Cab aggregators like Ola and Uber have always been the last minute go–to for attending any
meeting, parties or to reach a destination on time. The passengers find the application convenient as
the fares and the driver details are clearly mentioned. The estimated time of arrival helps to plan
ahead of time and the cab reaches at one's doorstep on the mentioned time. Features like Ola auto
and Ola share of Ola, have catered to the needs of the mass market and the cab aggregators now
enjoy a significant market share.
However, the dark side of this system has slowly come into limelight. Shiv Kumar Yadav, an Uber
driver was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman passenger in Gurgaon. On further investigation
the police found out that, Shiv Kumar Yadav was a drug addict and a school dropout.
On interrogation, Shiv Kumar confessed that he strategically baited women looking for rides outside
Gurgaon mall. He also claimed that he did a reconnaissance on the police operations and thus he
knew how to get away from the earlier committed crimes. He didn't anticipate that he would get
caught red handed as he had already fled the city and proceeded towards Mathura after switching off
his phone and discarding his sim.
The above mentioned case is just one among the many

How Is Oral-B: Helpful Or Harmful?
Oral–B has designed and developed a multitude of electric toothbrushes. Many of their high–quality
models can be expensive, and for some people, the extra features are not worth the higher price. You
may be on a budget, or looking for an electric toothbrush without the unnecessary extra gadgetry.
The Oral–B 1000 is an electric toothbrush that does not include many of the newer features. This is
not necessarily a bad thing, though. The toothbrush performs its main objective admirably, which is
to eliminate plaque. It is the ideal choice for anyone who needs a basic electric toothbrush without
all of the fancy bells and whistles.

Complicated Battery Usage
The manufacturer does not make this entirely clear, but there are specific steps that must be taken to
ensure longer battery life. If these steps are not followed, a number of malfunctions relating to the
battery may occur. About once every month, it is suggested that you let the battery on the device run
down entirely. After that is done, recharge it as you would normally. This simple procedure ensures
longer battery life and reduces the chance of complete failure.
Possible Gum Damage
Even with the pressure sensor slowing down the brush head's movement, possible gum damage may
occur. Make completely sure that you are not brushing too vigorously. If you begin to press down
too hard the pressure sensor only slows it down slightly. Try your best to brush gently, otherwise,
you may end up with damaged gums or teeth.

Selecting Select A Coaching Style
In order to determine what behaviors would be effective in inspiring James to be productive, James's
supervisor needs to make select a coaching style that would be most effective in encourage James to
develop his skills, knowledge, and capabilities. According to Aguinis (2013), there are four different
coaching styles: driver, persuader, amiable, and analyzer (p. 233). The driver style describes a tactic
that entails the coach taking a directive approach to coaching the employee (Aguinis, 2013, p. 233).
According to Aguinis (2013), a coach who use the driver style tends to be assertive and quick to
speak and usually speak about tasks and facts and usually omits personal feelings (p. 233).
Conversely, the persuader coaching style describes an approach in which the coach explains the
benefits of the coach's directives (Aguinis, 2013, p. 233). Aguinis (2013) states that, like the driver
coaching style, the persuader coaching style denotes coaches that are assertive, yet talk more about
feelings and relationships (p. 233). Aguinis (2013) also states that the amiable coaching style
emphasizes the importance of feelings and intuition as a guiding principle in coaching (p. 233).
Lastly, the analyzer coaching style is inclined to follow logic, rules, and standardized procedures
(Aguinis, 2013, p. 233). In addition, the analyzer coaching style is likely to enlist the use of facts

Cumberland Metals Case
1 We recommend Cumberland Metal Industries capitalize on their evolving position as a leader in
the curled metal industry and effectively launch their new curled metal cushion pads to be
positioned as the "new industry standard" in the pile driving market. In order to successfully launch
this product, we first and foremost recommend that CMI acquire a patent to prevent this product
from being copied and imitated, thus avoiding the entry of competitors. The associated value and
advantages of CMI's metal cushion pads are evident from the results of the two comparative
performance tests by Colerick and Fazio. CMI pads drove piles 33 percent faster than asbestos per
hour and lasted the entire job while also eliminating the downtime required ... Show more content

We encourage CMI to identify the top contractors and dispatch sales representatives to educate these
companies on the benefits of the new CMI metal cushion pad in comparison to what is currently
being offered in the market (asbestos pads). The sales representatives can use the results from the
Colerick and Fazio tests to demonstrate the advantages of switching to CMI metal pads. Allowing
them to test the product before paying will only improve brand reputation and overcome price
objections. We know they are very interested in making money, thus we can assume they are
interested in saving as much time and money as possible throughout each pile driving job.
Contractors bid on job contracts by estimating the amount of time it would take to drive the
specified piles the distance required, and by utilizing the new CMI metal pads and simultaneously
minimizing the associated time per job, these contractors can win more jobs and produce more
efficient work overall. Once independent pile–driving companies such as Colerick and Fazio try the
product and see the unique value and advantages that CMI pads offer, they can promote the product
through word of mouth and by exemplary job execution which will in turn help aid in making CMI
pads the new industry standard and most well–known pile–driving pad brand. 7 Knowing that some
independent contractors will be apprehensive in switching to CMI metal cushion pads due to cost
and lack of information on the value added benefits, we

Curled Metal Inc. is a manufacture company that uses some types of metal, to produce very
technical applications. In the last ten years CMI has grown very fast thanks to a product called Slip–
Seal, which follows the mandatory US environment legislation. To could expand their product
diversity, the managers of the company have decided to study and analyze a new product (cushion
pad) for curled metal technology, which is a key part of the process for driving piles.
1. Segmentation

The company may target the following segments of the market: hammer manufacturers, pile
hammer distributing and/or renting companies, architects, contractors, soil consultants and
consulting engineers.
In order to develop the new product properly, Curled Metal Inc. has to delimit the target segment,
and analyze the needs and wants of the customers, to could achieve their expectations. It is also

equipment they use, renting 25% of the hammers needed. They also talk freely between each other
but never reveal competitive secrets. In order to calculate the cost of the contractors, the company

Different Types Of Distracted Driving
In a split second you could ruin your future, injure or kill others, and tear a hole in the hearts of
everyone who loves you. Distracted driving is perilous driving, yet the new multitasking generation
has turned it into the "social norm." Although many are not aware, visual distractions are not the
only way to end up involved in a life changing situation. Along with the visual aspect, manual and
cognitive distractions impact the risk of accidents just as well. Not only are you effecting yourself in
such a situation, but you also have to take into consideration the lives of the people possibly with
you, or the other drivers on the road. When you get behind the wheel of a car, not only are you

The most common of course being texting, but also forms of social distractions, along with
stress/sleep related situations. The smartest attempt of stopping texting and driving that I have seen
up to this point is the applications on cell phones that do not allow them to be in use if they are
traveling at a specific speed. I was also told growing up not to distract the driver, but occasionally
we forget as young people how important it is to focus on the road rather than have a "jam session"
with our best friend. Along with things we stupidly do to risk our lives, things like stress and sleep
come on their own. The amount of stress can affect some to the point where they are physically
there, but not mentally. Nevertheless, sleep deprivation is just as risky. I praise the companies that
are trying to make their vehicles safer with self–driving techniques and the camera options to halt
from hitting another. Although we are in an age of technology, I think we as humans should take on
more responsibility for ourselves and depend less upon the

Heart rate monitors provide immediate feedback on how hard you are working out so that you can

monitoring their heart rate during activity, enabling them to maintain fat–burning and aerobic target

Example: during a cardio vascular training session you could wear a heart rate monitor to then see
how hard you are working to insure you're doing the max your body can do and once your heart rate

Therefore specific sections of the bodywork, such as the front wing, must be sufficiently rigid to
pass the FIA's ever more stringent deflection tests. The driver must be able to enter and get out of
the cockpit without it being necessary to open a door or remove any part of the car other than the
steering wheel. From his normal seating position, with all seat belts fastened and whilst wearing his
usual driving equipment, the driver must be able to remove the steering wheel and get out of the car
within five seconds and then replace the steering wheel within a further five seconds.
Example: formula 1 cock pits allow the driver to get a comfy seat position and allows the team who
he drives for to the sort out the aero dynamic features on the car. Cockpits are very important in
formula 1 because it allows the driver to tell his team if there's an issue with anything or if anything
needs changing such as the front wing to create aerodynamic. If there is anything wrong then the
team will be able to make improvements for the driver.

Adversity has a way of bringing up challenges unexpectedly, most people shrink away from it and
get consumed, but when they push through it people come out stronger than they were before.
Throughout history there has always been adversity, even today there are people who struggle to
cope with it in their everyday lives, but some are able to overcome it as individuals and move on.
But sometimes there are situations so adverse it takes more than one person to overcome mentally
and/or physically.

bad, they are more mentally prepared for the next time and will not be afraid. Driving also can be
adverse because it puts a person in control of an object that has an incredible amount of force, and
has varied velocity and if they should crash, it could mean serious injury or worse to both the driver
and/or other people. So it's up to the driver to stay focused and pay attention which can be very

focused; after these fears are pushed aside they are much stronger mentally than they were before
Adversity is something that many people are able to over come, most people can by themselves,

Outline a 6 point Complaint handling strategy for a 100 seat upmarket restaurant. Explain each
strategy in detail.
SOLUTION:
With an upmarket restaurant, we need to offer a very high standard in customer service. When
running a business, complaint can not be avoidable as it can happen at any time. Therefore, we need
to have an appropriate complaint handling strategy ready when any problem arises. The following 6
points are the general action for any complaints from customer:

Later, after the driver pick up the customer, I will call again to ask about his status. If he say ok &
feel comfortable, I will say sorry again & see him at the airport. If he is angry & is not satisfied with
the situation, I will say the hotel will make a compensation for him later.
2) Example 2
I am working as a waiter at a restaurant, a customer required not having meat in salad but the salad
she got has some pieces of chicken in there. She gestured to me to come to her & complained about
that.
SOLUTION:
Firstly, after getting the complaint from the customer, I shall say sorry to her. Then, telling her that it
maybe a mistake of the kitchen & empathise that the vegetarian prefer vegetables than meat. Next, I
will tell her to stay for a moment to change another salad for her. Immediately, I will go to the
kitchen & tell to the chef to get another one instantly. Once the new salad is ready, I will bring to her
the new dish in person. I will not give the task to anyone else, because, it show that I implement the
job which I am responsible for. Then, I shall ask the customer what else I can help her more. If she
say all right & enjoy the food, I will say sorry the final time. If she is not really happy, I can offer
her 50% discount for coffee.

durability allows the equipment to finish the job which required 20 sets of conventional pads with
only one set of CMI pads. It also allows the pile to drive much faster with less weight and less
heated. In order to set an appropriate price of the product, I have considered the minimum price that

Curled Metal Inc – Engineered Product Division
Overview
Cumberland Metal Industries (CMI) was a company which sold metal as raw material in other
products. After the company had developed the product – Slip Seal that could meet the demanding
specification of the automakers, it had grown rapidly over the past decade. The sales increased from
$750,000 in 1991 to over $55 million in 2007. However, the sales decreased from 61 million in
2006 to 55 million in 2007, a net decrease of 9.5%, the net profit decreased from 5.7 million in 2006

Independent pile–driving contracts represented "the frontline buying influence." They were
knowledgeable, but not sophisticated.
Pricing
CMI was first manufacturer for CM pads, there was no direct competition and no available selling
price in the market that CMI can take reference to. In view of that, CMI could use two test results of
Kendrick and Corey to determine the economic value of CM pads. According to the Appendix I, the
average economic value of CMI pad was 3,304. This value had taken into account of less CM pads
required per job and the cost saving in equipment and labor . But the value to the customer should
be higher due to some intangible advantage, for examples, lower accident claim as fewer set
changes required for CM pads. Besides, lower health claim as CM pad contained non–toxic
material. In order to gain the market share for this new product, we would recommend CMI to set
the price of CMI pad around 85% of economic value, saying 2,805, promote to the market that it
was much cheaper to use CM pads with superior performance and cost efficiency. Besides, different
discounts can be granted to the customers depend on the length of the contracts signed and volume
of the pads purchased, ranging from 10% to 25%.
Market strategy
Positioning
CMI could position CM pads as new industry standard, while emphasis on cost efficiency with
superior performance. It should demonstrate to the market that CM pads had several

  • 3. Short Story Essay Short Story The river was roaring past the children and their teacher, as the group of kids tried in vain to understand the teacher's inaudible mutterings. Not one of them could understand or comprehend what the teacher was saying, and being the lively, uncontrollable brats that they were, they didn't care anyway. When the teacher stopped talking, he motioned for the children to follow him along the steep, mud–covered banks of the river. The children understood this and scuttled after him, along the dangerous route that he had selected for them. As the teacher and the mob of children following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The three children got through the nettle patch and they sat down on the boulders bordering the river, which was now starting to break its banks. They searched around for dock leaves to soften the intense pain of the nettle stings. When they eventually found them they returned to the boulders and tended to their burning limbs. When they could no longer feel the stings theyrealisedthat they were bored, and looked for something to do. One of them, Harry, saw something sparkle amid the foam in the river, and started out to get it. The other two, Chris and Matthew, noticed what Harry was after and chased after him frantically. As Chris and Matthew drew closer to Harry, an immense, sudden gush of water knocked the three kids flat on their faces. Chris, who was quite tubby, and the worst swimmer, couldn't fight the current, and was swept downstream screaming in terror. Matthew and Harry however, fought their way back to the banks of the river, petrified at the thought of what might happen to their friend. While all of this was happening, the torrential rain persisted. So much so, that the teacher decided to take the class – as quickly as possible – to some form of shelter. They ran towards a small, deserted house about a hundred yards from the path, and waited there panting for the rain to stop. Still, no– onerealisedthat three of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My First Auto-Personal Narrative Approaching, gliding my hand over the warm hood of the engine, feeling the texture of the minutely grainy forest green paint against my fingers tip, thinking "Hello my friend ". Stepping back, admiring the impeccable hand–crafted machine with tinted windows that are almost as dark as the midnight sky, with 15–inch tires and black stretch free rims. Clicking that rubber button to unlock the dent free door, it greets me with a loud honking two beeps. Climbing into the soft black leather driver's seat, I am washed into that familiar feeling– a warm hug from an old friend. Handing me the keys and the papers proving the car is now mine I start jumping with excitement, throwing my arms around the salesmen, hugging him tight, I thank him. Turning on my heels I dash for the door, running to the car with a smile on my face from ear to ear, adrenaline racing, I find myself dancing in the middle of the lot waving my arms around, spinning in circles. Catching my breath, a run my hand over the hood of the car one more time, clicking that little grey button, hearing it welcomes me back with the two honking beeps. On my seventeenth birthday, just ten days before the start of his annual westward journey, my dad was perishing–awaiting the arrival of a pill. His lifeline. His calm in spirit contrasted the fire inside my mother and I–infuriated that no lazy hospital bureaucracy would admit him, but only give him fluids. Useless fluids. My mother's claws ejected once more–the mitochondria of my family. At last, he was admitted. My hatred for the hospital was founded inside the hospital itself. • 14. New Semi Empirical Design Procedures For The Determination... Karlsrud(2014) proposed new semi empirical design procedures for the determination of ultimate shaft friction and load–displacement response of axially loaded piles in clay are proposed. A main basis for developing the new procedures was detailed review and reassessment of results from a series of pile load–test programs published over the past 30 years on piles well instrumented to monitor soil and pore pressures as well as load distribution along the pile shafts. Two new alternative procedures are proposed for predicting the ultimate shaft friction: an a approach, which uses the normalized un drained strength based on direct simple shear tests as a main correlation parameter, and a b approach, which uses the over consolidation ratio (OCR). Both approaches include the effects of the plasticity index of the clay, Ip, which is shown to have an especially large impact on the correlations when Ip 25%. In practical design, it is recommended that both methods be used and design values be selected for the ultimate shaft friction that represents an average for the two methods. Pile diameter, length, or stiffness or whether the pile is open or closed–ended seem to have little impact on the shaft friction. However, a moderate effect of pile length or flexibility on the total ultimate pile capacity comes out of the proposed t–z curves, which include some post peak reduction. The main purpose of the study was to reduce the basic uncertainties involved with relating ultimate shaft ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The town where I go to school and where all my other friends, Dupree, is nearly fifty miles from my house. To get to Red Scaffold, you have to go down south of Dupree on Cherry Creek Road; about halfway to Red Scaffold the road begins to curve first one way and then the other and you have to be very careful because it is a gravel road and you might find yourself in the ditch. Last November when it cold and there was nothing to do, Deja and I decided to go for a drive. We decided to go to Dupree because we intended to hang out with more of our friends. Her dad told us to take it off the wheel lock on the front tires instead of we took it off. As we got about three or four miles from where we live, the road turn into washboards; if you have ever driven along a gravel or dirt road in the summer, you are undoubtedly familiar with the "washboards" that develop. We hit them going too fast, started drifting, and almost ended up in the ditch. I was petrified when that happened and I squeezed my eyes shut and held onto my seat belt for dear life. Then when we finally straightened out and we proceeded with our trip, we began to laugh at what just happened. As we came upon the South of Dupree road junction; when just one whitetail deer was standing on the side of the road and we began to slow down. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at the market size Cumberland has an untapped market with no real competitors. It is a big opportunity for Cumberland to tap the pad market and become the market leaders. Looking at the size of the market I am surprised that no player has tapped the market yet. The only difficult part would be making people shift from asbestos pads to CMI pads and explaining them the benefits they would have from it because people don't really care so much about the pads that go in. So the opportunity is great they just need to get the pricing and marketing strategy right. 4. Does your price affect how much of the market you'll get? Explain. Price is important but in this industry and scenario shall not been the main factor for how much market share CMI would enjoy. The industry contains pads from unbranded and local manufacturers and pads are something that are not paid attention to in the pile driving industry. The next best alternative being asbestos is priced low but end up using 10 times more than the CMI pads. CMI pads are also time saving and absorb more heat and need lesser replacements keeping all of this factors in mind it wont be difficult for CMI to have the biggest market share if they are able to show their customers the value of their pads and capture asbestos's market share too. Pricing will be key but they do have some margins to play with as the have quality and tests to back their differentiator that is a better, long lasting and durable

  • 25. What Makes A Good Decision? Adam wasn 't sure about this. Which was unusual, because he was usually, very sure of himself and his decisions. In his line of work he had to be. There was no time for hesitation; no time for regrets. He would make a decision and stick to it, no matter the cost. If it was a good decision, there would be nothing to worry about. But if it was a bad decision, well, there was always alcohol if he needed it, but that was rare. Not the drinking, but the bad decisions. He considered himself an elite strategist and prided himself on his quick thinking, which was very handy in most situations. But this, this was different. Currently he was in Britain, Wales specifically, and he 'd received a tip off from one of his more reliable sources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was that, or talking to himself, which often made him, wonder about his mental health. "Yeah, well, you 'd better start counting your pennies; Bristol to Cardiff is quite the way." Adam had no appropriate answer for that. He could pay the taxi fee easily, but he might as well allow the unpleasant man to fret over it, he was quite rude to him after all. His job paid well, in fact, he was practically rich. Adam is what they call a pretender. He's paid to take the place of his client, often disguising himself in order for his client to escape prison or similar trouble. His line of work is always risky, and often leads to being chased and attacked by terrorists and government officials alike, but he enjoys it and it always pays well. There are many like him, Adam knew this. But they generally respected each other 's privacy and avoid each other. It 's better that way, safer. Working alone decreases the chance of betrayal and injury. The last pretenders that worked together, the Parsons, gave each other away. Nt1310 Unit 2 Case 2 Even though it does not look very important part of the driving pile, the new cushion pad of Curled Metal Incorporated (CMI) can provide remarkably advanced performance in all its aspects. Its durability allows the equipment to finish the job which required 20 sets of conventional pads with only one set of CMI pads. It also allows the pile to drive much faster with less weight and less heated. In order to set an appropriate price of the product, I have considered the minimum price that is calculated from CMI's cost, and the maximum price that is calculated from customer's willingness to pay (WTP). The minimum price is based on how much CMI spends producing one pad, and how much profit the company wants to generate. For estimating the total ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pricing CMI was first manufacturer for CM pads, there was no direct competition and no available selling price in the market that CMI can take reference to. In view of that, CMI could use two test results of Kendrick and Corey to determine the economic value of CM pads. According to the Appendix I, the average economic value of CMI pad was 3,304. This value had taken into account of less CM pads required per job and the cost saving in equipment and labor . But the value to the customer should be higher due to some intangible advantage, for examples, lower accident claim as fewer set changes required for CM pads. Besides, lower health claim as CM pad contained non–toxic material. In order to gain the market share for this new product, we would recommend CMI to set the price of CMI pad around 85% of economic value, saying 2,805, promote to the market that it was much cheaper to use CM pads with superior performance and cost efficiency. Besides, different discounts can be granted to the customers depend on the length of the contracts signed and volume of the pads purchased, ranging from 10% to 25%. Market strategy Positioning CMI could position CM pads as new industry standard, while emphasis on cost efficiency with superior performance. It should demonstrate to the market that CM pads had several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
