Dave Short Story Essay
Humans are the most extraordinary creatures in this whole universe. People are capable of
unimaginable things such as loving with all our heart, building structures to the sky, and creating
more people. But, sadly, no matter how much love we give, how tall the buildings we create are, and
no matter how many more people we birth, we are and always be corrupt. We will always be full of
evil. Full of crime, and hate. We murder, we steal, and we lie. We are bringing hell onto the earth
once full of pure kindness. In the mass of all this hatred and crime, there are a select handful of
people who show this world that the earth isn 't as bad as it may seem.
This story is about a man who defies all odds. Who makes the the world seem a little bit ... Show

She did request for us to tell you she hopes you "get to feeling better". Dave nodded, as his heart
dropped. "What about Stacey? The lady who found me?" The nurses smile had completely vanished.
"She did visit but, she left after her husband had called." Dave didn 't remember her having a
husband.
He started to lay back and jumped when the nurse picked her perky attitude up. "But, we will have a
nurse right by you at all times until you are ready to leave." She sat next to him and read the
clipboard she was holding. "And that nurse is me!" Dave was about to laugh when there was a
knock at the door, before opening. A man in a blue lab coat walked in. "Hello, Mr. Walker. How're
you feeling?" Dave nodded. "Kind of... fuzzy." He replied. The doctor smiled and told him how he
had suffered a mild stroke. Also that they would keep him there for a few days for surveillance. The
nurse patted his arm and they left.
Dave was alone, again. His mind began to wonder, to leave his head. How come he was always
alone? How was it that he gave, and gave everything he had but when he needed someone... not
even his sister was around. He remembered the day when Martha walked not only from his family,
but from him. "If you are not going to support me, and her... then I am leaving!" And just like that...
she was gone.
"NO!"
Dave was knocked into reality when he heard a loud scream. He looked around, and called out

Kent State University Internship Assignment
This past summer, I had the opportunity to study at Kent State University's NYC Studio and intern
at Fabric to Finish, Inc., a product–development consulting firm in the Garment Center. I valued my
time there, but would not call my internship a success. I was inexperienced and undereducated and it
showed in nearly everything I did. In fact, I knew nothing about the product development process
and made countless mistakes. I understand that making mistakes while interning is apart of the
learning process and is more or less normal, but being normal is not acceptable for me. While I was
embarrassed of my lack knowledge, I still loved going to my internship everyday, being able to help
create a product from start to finish – figuring out what fabric ... Show more content on

Essay about Plainsong by Kent Haruf
Plainsong by Kent Haruf
Kent Haruf was born and raised on the north east plains of Colorado and attended Nebraska
Weslegan University and The University of Iowa. After he graduated he owned a chicken ranch in
Colorado, work at the Royal Gorge Bridge and was in the peace corps before he settled down to
teach at the University of Iowa. He has had much experience in small town life, which is why his
book, Plainsong is so beautifully written. Haruf has first hand experience in the gossip, drama and
change, which is so present in Plainsong. Change, and the parallels in the environment are the
principal themes in this story. Everyone is touched by it and affected by the change in everyone

and Bobby are shown in the line, "After a moment she turned again in the bed and studied the two
thin pencils of light shining at the edge of the window shade." (7). We can see that Ike and Bobby
are the only happiness in her life. We also see this in the line, "the door swung inward slowly and
there was their mother. . . . Yes, she said. Her voice was dry and flat, without inflection. Hello,
Mother. Is something wrong? She cupped one hand over her eyes against the bright afternoon sun."
(101). In that last line we see that Ike and Bobby are paralleled by the afternoon sun. There are many
other times in the novel that a character's feelings are reflected in the environment. Victoria

her feelings and her mother throwing her out of the house. Mrs.Stearns is a scatter–brained,

Krypton Research Paper
Krypton, the home planet of Superman and the radioactive material, kryptonite... Wait. Wrong
krypton. The krypton we are talking about is the kind you find on the periodic table, and even in
many lighting products, such as gas lasers. Although it is not a planet and can not quite stop the
powers of Superman, the element krypton has some pretty super qualities of its own.
History
Krypton was founded by the Scottish and English chemists, Sir William Ramsay and Morris
William Travers on May 30, 1898 ("The Element Krypton," n.d.). Their goal was to find noble gas
elements in the last unknown 0.05% of air by liquefying and evaporating air (Newton, 2010).
Ramsay and Travers were able to liquefy it by cooling the elements, primarily oxygen, nitrogen and
argon, in air to the point that they changed into a liquid state (around –320.42°F) (Newton, 2010).
However, the air warmed and cause the evaporation of the three main elements, resulting in the
discovery of not only krypton, but additionally xenon and neon (Newton, 2010).
Physical Description Krypton, atomic symbol of Kr, received its name from the Greek word kryptos,
meaning hidden (Newton, 2010). This name is quite fitting seeing as the element is a colorless,
odorless, and tasteless gas ("Krypton," 2007) at room temperature ("The Element ... Show more

("Krypton," 2007). To put the small percentage into perspective, there are about 8,200 argon atoms,
184,000 oxygen atoms and 685,000 nitrogen atoms for every one krypton atom ("Krypton Element
Facts," n.d.). Krypton is formed in the Earth's crust when radioactive elements, such as uranium, are
broken down, and it is then harvested by liquefying and evaporating air, the same technique in
which it had been discovered (Newton,

Five Rules For Research Paper
In 1967 when Sister Corita Kent came up with a set of ten rules or highly thoughtout life guidlines,
her intentions were not to make them set rules, but rather, suggestions open for interpertation. As I
was reading over the rules, I saw them as simple life lessons that could help me become more
succesful as a human being. These rules expand past college, they take my thought process into real
life situations and how they can be used in the future to better myself. As I was going down the list a
few rules really stood out to me; both Rules two and three, Rule five, and Rule nine. These four
made me actually stop and really dig deep into researching their meaning. Both two and three go
together so I interperted them as one. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be disciplined is to follow in a good way. To be self–disciplined is to follow in a better way. I
interpereted the rule very crucially, meaning choosing the right person to follow is crucial to your
future as a human being. All it takes for your life to go downhill is following in the footsteps of a
terrible influence. Even though choosing a role model is a very smart thing to, your own self should
be the biggest inspiration in your life. You should believe in yourself before believing in anybody
else. The reason I believe this rule is so important because it stresses that influencing yourself is far
more beneficial than being influenced by others even though its ok to be infuenced by others! And
when you have been self–influenced you will begin to build structure with yourself leading to self–
diciplinary.
Finally Rule Nine states: Be happy whenever you can manage it. Enjoy yourself. Its lighter than you
think. This rule is my favorite because I believe its the realest rule of them all. Life is to short to not
enjoy the little things that blossum from the darkest moments. When stress levels rise you tend to
think that it is the end of the world, but even from the hardest of the hardest times if there is a few
seconds to be happy, make sure you charish that little moment. The hard times that drag you down
can be extremely dense, but the happiness that can be shed from that is so delicate and

different times, with one thing in common: the traits of a true hero. Both of these individuals,
endowed with superhuman abilities, share such heroic characteristics as courage, strength, loyalty,

between Beowulf and Superman including such things as their motives and the culture that resulted

The U.S economy is growing rapidly and therefore it has affect any business organization of a firm.
The current economic state affects the retail services of REI in the following ways. The U.S.
Economy has truly possessed the capacity to mitigate the effect of downturns in local retail buyer

retailers are encountering noteworthy decreases in deals because of individuals taking care of on
their outgoings and furrowing into their properties or somewhere else, consequently the economy

search for REI services since they are a bit expensive. It is obvious that the company will have to
cope with some changes. (Reis et al, 2016)

Overview Summary
The research report I will be discussing in this assignment is about Test Driven Development
(TDD). One of biggest and most important part of writing a software in any programming language.
It is a way developers work to reduce time on debugging their software. TDD is one of the newest
and most efficient methods for programmers and it is having an ongoing popularity growth every
year. This assignment will be talking about, what TDD is? How it is implemented in Information
Technology (IT) environment, why testing is important and how it can financially effect developers.
We will have a closer look on the history side of TDD, how it was created, who created it and where
did the TDD method pop up from. Also answer why use TDD when there are other methods out
there? Every good thing or way have a bad side too, so does TDD and that will be covered later on
this research report. We will compare TDD with some other methods and see which one stands out
more and what makes them so different from each other.
What is Test Driven Development?

Descriptive Essay About Ocean City
Ocean CIty is a beautiful vacation place, not just for the summer. Many people go there to relax,
make memories and have a good time. It is a fun–filled, family–friendly vacation place that
everyone will enjoy and it is worth the drive. Ocean city has a lot of history to go with it. The first
hotel was built by Isaac Coffin in 1869, it was the first beachfront cottage to receive paying guests.
People came to fish, relax, enjoy the beauty of the ocean, and enjoy the sand. Then later there were
houses being built on the strip of sand. Ocean City extends nearly 10 miles from the southern inlet
to the Delaware line. Now there are hotels, motels, apartment houses and condos. Ocean city
expanded when the Chesapeake Bay bridge was finished.By the 1970's there were big businesses
and more apartments being built. Now there are hotels, condos, apartments, and stores everywhere
you look. Ocean City is located near Fenwick Island, near the Delaware line. On the drive there you
go on the Chesapeake Bay bridge. On the bridge you get a beautiful view of the bay and you see
boats going all around you and under you. It is a three to four hour drive depending on traffic. Once
you get to Ocean City, depending on where you are, there is a view of the bay on one side and on the
other side you have a beautiful view of the waves and the sand. One downfall of this vacation is if
you stay at Seaside Retreat on 138th street. When we got there the rooms were not clean. The

Differences Between Superman And Superman, Television And...
Cloaked in red and blue, Superman soars above Metropolis. Well known to the public, he is strong,
kind, humble and in love with Lois Lane. Then he gets to work. He puts on some glasses, and he
becomes Clark Kent, a mild–mannered reporter. According to the public, his relationship with Louis
is platonic. Despite being the same person, depending on who you ask, they will give you a very
different description of just one man. The real difference between Superman and Clark Kent isn't a
disguise, but the social context in which he is seen. Much the same as Superman, people can have
multiple identities, or 'frames' of themselves, each coming out in a specific social context. With
social media, these different identities can be created and thrive. On public platforms, the ideal side
of a person is shown, along with their close relationships, but on private sites, they don't have to
worry about dealing with the pressure from others. To put simply, whether you see Superman or
Clark Kent, depends on who is watching him, so it can be argued that the amount of privacy a user
has on a social media platform, greatly impacts how they display themselves, and their relationships
on said platform as well.
Overall, some of the most popular social media platforms are public ones, such as Facebook and
Instagram. Although these sites have different features, one similarity between them is how they can
be used to enforce gender norms . Public sites often involve the user posting photos and

Characteristics Of Odysseus
As a kid, think of that one superhero that was on the TV or in comic books. What are some qualities
that they had? Maybe Superman came to mind, who was so strong that he could lift up entire
buildings in the grasp of one hand, or stop a moving train from falling off a broken bridge. It could
have been the Flash, who had the ability to run around the world in seconds. He could run so fast
that earth would spin in the opposite direction. Both of these heroes would use their abilities for
good, saving innocent people from villains and natural disasters. They have standout qualities that
make them the heroes that they are. There could be people who come to mind that may not have
these superpowers, but are still considered heroes. For example, ... Show more content on

If he had not told the cyclops the false name, than all of the other cyclops would have come down to
help the injured cyclops, and his crew and him would have ended up being killed. In this situation,
Odysseus was able to save the lives of him and his crew by thinking of a way shut down one of
Polyphemus' defenses. The way he does this is not obvious, and requires cleverness to think it up.
This plays into his image as a hero. Odysseus' cleverness helps him get out of many situations,
which but only leads into more of his favorable qualities. One of those qualities being his great
leadership and his ability to guide his crew out of difficult situations. An example of Odysseus'
leadership in The Iliad is when Odysseus comes up with the idea to attack troy with the trojan horse.
The city of troy was enclosed in walls, making it very difficult for Odysseus to attack them. They
would need a great plan in order for them to be able to attack. This is where Odysseus steps in. He
comes up with the idea to create the trojan horse, and put his men inside. The trojans then take this
horse inside their city, and believe that it is a gift from the spartans. The men inside the horse then
come out during the night time and kill everybody in the city, and return victorious. This example
shows exemplary leadership by Odysseus, because he comes up a brilliant plan to get inside the city,
and then takes his army to victory. If nobody had

Characteristics Of A Hero
Each one of the 7 billion humans on planet Earth has a hero. Humanity as we know it needs heroes
because of myriad reasons, whether to solve problems or help people through times of need. Much
more than a man in a cape with larger–than–life physical strength, anyone can be a hero if they have
the right characteristics. Regardless of the duty a hero provides, he or she will hold common
qualities that they must stand by. The three common qualities that make up a hero throughout all of
history and into modern day heroes include: loyalty, bravery, and the willingness to make personal
sacrifice for a common good.
No matter the hero, whether in a poem, movie, and even reality help shape the lives of people in a
positive manner. Figures that show heroic qualities became exceedingly important to societies back
in the Anglo–Saxons time period but also right now in the twenty–first century because they serve a
purpose. When times get tough and everything seems impossible, heroes are the ones who remind us
to keep on believing. We get back up again and keep fighting and believing in ourselves. Every hero
faces battles, some they may win but others they may lose. We as a society can learn from these
losses and understand failure helps us aspire and grow.
Loyalty, perhaps one of the most crucial qualities for a hero. A person that lacks loyalty cannot fit
the characteristics of a hero because no loyalty means no reliance or trust. Loyalty defines Beowulf
when he first arrives to

Comparison Of Superman And Siegel
In 1938, A new superman was born; One that is good and represents the very fabric of "truth, justice
and the American way" – things that were lost as an aftermath of The Great Depression. "Superman
was like the better version of Siegel; A version who has the ability to save lives, including his
father's. Similar to Siegel, Superman is an 'alien' desperately trying to fit into the American Culture,"
Added Elsworth (telegraph.uk). Siegel too was an 'alien' as he was someone foreign to the American
ways, considering his beginning as a jewish immigrant. "And just like Superman, he too wanted
desperately to fit in.
The poet, David Meltzer once said: "Superman came not out of our strength but out of our
vulnerability." Superman became a symbol of hope and a reassurance of safety. Superman represents
the way America was supposed to be. He portrays someone who could save the lives of the innocent
and yet be kind enough to spare the lives of the criminals; Someone who could've saved Siegel's
father. He was everything Siegel dreamed of becoming. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Genetic Engineering and Cryonic Freezing: A Modern Frankenstein?
In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, a new being was artificially created using the parts of others. That
topic thus examines the ethics of "playing God" and, though written in 1818, it is still a relevant
issue today. Genetic engineering and cryogenic freezing are two current technologies related to the
theme in the novel of science transcending the limits of what humans can and should do.
Genetic engineering is widely used today. Genetically altered bacteria are used to make human
insulin, human growth hormone, and a vaccine for hepatitis B. Two vaccines against AIDS created
with genetic engineering have begun clinical trials here in the United States ("The ... Show more

Another facet of genetic engineering, gene therapy, has shown promise. This new process aims at
removing genetic defects and certain personality traits (Begley, 61).
Most people do not like the idea of cloning humans. Many also disagree with being able to use
genetic engineering to prevent genetic defects or to choose certain trait for their children. Many fear
that children would become objects rather than human beings. President Clinton stated, "Banning
human cloning reflects our humanity. It is the right thing to do. At its worst [this new method] could
lead to misguided and malevolent attempts to select certain traits, even to create certain kinds of
children – to make our children objects rather than cherished individuals." Besides, who can say for
sure that this technology will be used in a beneficial way? Someone, somewhere is likely going to
do the unethical thing (Kevles 354). Kevin T. Fitzgerald said cloning is not needed because alternate
solutions to these problems already exist, social and psychological problems cannot and should not
simply be solved by genetic solutions, and cloning humans for the purpose of supplying organs
would cause a great ethical uproar (Fitzgerald). Gene therapy also presents many problems. Since it
is very expensive, only the wealthy could afford to have children without undesirable traits. This

"Uh, what do you mean by that?" but within seconds Eliasyn felt her body being pulled and thrusted

How Do People Respond To Clark's Power?
In the film, Man of Steel, Jonathan Kent is adamant about not wanting Clark to reveal his powers.
Although there were some instances where it seemed Clark's abilities were need, he felt that his
son's well–being was more important. Jonathan Kent was right to keep Clark from revealing his
powers to the world, for the following reasons: he anticipated the reactions people would have,
wanted what was best for his son, and Jonathan knew that Clark was not ready to be exposed to the
world Jonathan anticipated the reactions people would have to Clark's abilities. He was aware that
some people would react with fear of his power. This was evident, even when Superman/Clark tried
to surrender the U.S. government, they had weapons pointed at him, put him in handcuffs, and were
going to try to tranquilize him. Clark's mother also mentions that when they first found Clark, they
had expected the government to show up soon after. This is evidence that both Jonathan and Martha

The Mask In T. Clark's Mask Of Superman
People look at Superman like a God, strong and mighty. A warrior against evil. Superman's
appearance is distinctive and iconic; he usually wears a blue costume with a red–and–yellow
emblem on the chest, consisting of the letter S in a shield shape, and a red cape. Clark creates the
costumed identity of Superman so as to protect his personal privacy and the safety of his loved ones.
As Clark Kent, he wears glasses to disguise his face and wears his Superman costume underneath
his clothes so that he can change at a moment's notice. To complete this disguise, Clark avoids
violent confrontation, preferring to slip away and change into Superman when danger arises, and
suffers occasional ridicule for his apparent cowardice. Whenever I picture Superman

The World 's Greatest Quest
Cryogenic freeze Science may have just solved humanity 's greatest quest. Immorality. From Ponce
De Leon 's search for the fountain of youth in America to man 's advancement in medicine and
technology to not only extend human life but also endeavor to ensure quality of life. There is hope
for those that seek the impossible and that is the science of Cryonics. Cryonics is a relatively new
technology that lets those who can afford have the chance to be frozen when they have reached the
end of their lives for the possibility of a longer life when technology advances. This paper will show
the technology and recorded effects of this science by what its purpose is and how scientists use it.
Cryonics is a type of science that allows you to deep– freeze the bodies of people who have died of
an incurable disease, for future hope of a cure. Despite the term dead, the Alcor foundation says
"cryonics is a belief that no one is really dead until the information content of the brain is lost, and
that low temperatures can prevent this loss." As of now there has been no information gathered to
conclude that the brain activity could be restored, but by preserving the patients in the freezing
temperatures they hope that future technology will be able to find a way. Some animals and other
types of science have made cryonics such a hopeful science. Nature gives scientists confirmation
that freezing temperatures can preserve entire organisms. Examine the life cycle of frogs they bury

`` Gasoline Alley `` By Frank King
In Gasoline Alley, Frank King uses closure to take an average human being, Skeezix, and place him
into a surreal world, and in doing so immerses his readers in the fantastic wonderlands they observe.
In The Superman Chronicles, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster do the opposite by using closure to take a
surreal being and place him into the real world of the readers to show how alien Superman is to
planet Earth. For clarity, closure is defined in Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics as,
"Observing the parts but perceiving the whole." Simply put, closure in comics allows the reader to
become an active participant in the story. This participation allows the reader to become fully
immersed in the world of the characters which leads to an experiential connection between the
reader and the character. In order to understand how real and surreal are to be interpreted in this
paper, they must be defined. The Merriam–Webster Dictionary defines surreal as, "marked by the
intense irrational reality of a dream," and defines real as, "not artificial, fraudulent, or
illusory...occurring or existing in actuality." The creators devise diametric plots, but the use of
closure as a mechanism to create the immersive worlds in which their readers and characters coexist
are nearly the same. Frank King and Siegel & Shuster both use closure as a vehicle to convey the
concept that their respective characters are living representations of the opposition between real and
surreal, this is evident in

Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies Essay
Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by software
developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this is simple: if you want to
make sure something is well built, you must design it well first, then put it together using reliable
tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout
decades, the methods of up front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products
often made for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other. For this type of environment,
more dynamic methods are required, which is why XP suits as a viable candidate. How design is
altered from the traditional up front design method will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

"reveals all the intentions", on the other hand, makes sense under the following train of thought: if
something is simple, it is easy to understand, and therefore all or most intentions are clear to the
observer. "does not have duplicated code" seems to make things easy to understand, but may not
necessarily simplify a program. Finally, "has the fewest number of classes or methods" seems to be
the most pertinent to the concept of simplicity. If a system consists of less functional elements than
another one but holds the same product, it could be considered simpler. Following this definition, a
system that contains the least amount of functional elements than any other, but holds the same
product, could be considered simplest. Other than a few definitions of simplicity, Fowler mentions
YAGNI, an acronym he claims is one of the "...greatest rallying cries in XP..." (Fowler). It stands for
"You Aren't Going to Need it" (Fowler). The idea is summed up by Fowler as a method to only
program what is currently needed for the project. This is supposed to allow easy changes to be made
when needed. An example: consider the scenario where a calculator is being programmed. Its design
incorporates 'addition' and 'multiplication'. Whilst implementing 'addition', it may seem logical to
add some of the 'multiplication' features to reduce the amount of future work. Suddenly the client
decides to replace 'multiplication' with 'division'. 'multiplication' now has to be removed or

The Traditional Change Model Consists Of Three Steps
1. The traditional change model consists of three steps: unfreezing, that is, recognizing the need for
change because of some event or threat, the actual change actions and refreezing, that is,
incorporating new ways of operating, and thinking into the everyday operations of the organization.
Apply this model to the situation at the Coca–Cola Company at the point when the lawsuit was
served in 1999.
As it is stated in the case of Coca–Cola, "it was a marketing machine ran by bureaucrats and
accountants focused more on getting the most out of what they had than of thinking of good ideas"
(Harvey & Allard, 2015, p. 100). At that stage, Ivestor, who was a CEO of the company, was
focusing more on the numbers and revenues than on what is really going inside of the company. He
was described as "arrogant and insecure" (Harvey & Allard, 2015, p. 100) and refused to listen to his
own people, working for him. Instead of solving the real problems in the company, he was focusing
on keeping profits on the same level. Case gives an example of passivity of his actions by increasing
the price of Coke syrup sales to bottlers to keep it. Of course, it was a mandatory action due to the
"largest product recall in company history" (Harvey & Allard, 2015, p. 100) but it only accumulated
a racial tension in the company, as he was indifferent to people and focused on financial results.
Ivestor tried to prevent dramatic outcomes of the lawsuit more than to solve the problem and prevent

Loneliness in the Novel Plainsong by Kent Haruf
Plainsong is a novel written by Kent Haruf, that takes place in Holt Colorado. In this book Tom
Guthrie is left to take care of his two boys, Ike and Bobby, as a single parent after their mother left
them. Victoria Roubideaux grew up without a father figure, her mom kicked her out after she found
out she was pregnant and Victoria was left to find somewhere else to live. And the McPheron
brothers live out in the country by themselves taking care of their cattle. The theme of this novel is
loneliness, every one of these characters are experiencing loneliness throughout this book.
Tom Guthrie and his two boys, Ike and Bobby, began the theme of loneliness right from the start
when their mother was so depressed and wouldn't come out of her room. The boys would go to
check on her everyday and try to get her to come down stairs even to join the family for dinner but
she wouldn't get out of bed. But the reason Ella, their mother, wouldn't leave her room because she
was in such a state of depression and felt as if she was all alone. Eventually she realized there was
nothing her boys could do to make her feel any better so she decided that moving out of the house
would be best for all of them. But when she did this they boys felt as if they no longer had a mother,
and Tom was left to raising their children all by himself. This sense of loneliness put a strain on
everyone in the family; Ike and Bobby continuously asked Tom if their mother was every going to

Essay on Superman: The Man of Steel
Whether you call him Kal–El, Clark Joseph Kent or the Man of Steel, fans and non–alike know him
the world over as Superman. Recently, this iconoclastic character was reintroduced to a new
generation with the film Man of Steel and so began for some a look back to another era where a bold
new dawn of superhero action movies was born with Superman The Movie. An inevitable debate
ensued about whether a modern, technologically advanced and possibly more faithful adaptation
could outshine the original, with all its nostalgia, including an inimitable portrayal of Superman
given by the late Christopher Reeve. My aim is to find out whether I still believe a man can truly fly
or if he is just simply wearing a costume.

In the 2013 film Man of Steel, Henry Cavill, an up and coming British actor, portrayed Kal–El. Mr.
Cavill brought a cool and quiet, yet at times very detached and alien performance that did not elicit a
similar sentiment from me as did Mr. Reeve's portrayal. This was due in part to the story being
retooled in favor of a bold retelling of his origins. The story now focused on him being an alien from
a distant planet whose attempts to integrate into society are further complicated because he feels
humanity is not ready to accept him for who he is and what that represents. The change to the
storytelling dynamic also afforded a closer look at the main protagonist's relationship with both his
birth father, Jor–El and his adoptive father on Earth, Jonathan Kent. Also, in comparison to
Superman The Movie, the opening sequences of Man of Steel provided a more intimate portrait of
the last days of Krypton, his home planet. This of course served to better flesh out more of the
backstory for Kal–El and provided new insight into what had become a relatively one dimensional
character in the comic books over the years. The apparent aim was to create a connection with this
larger than life character that we as the audience would come to understand in ways that went
simply beyond knowing the persona of Superman.

Taking a Look Back at Smallville
The series Smallville takes place is a small farm town of the same name. Twelve years before the
show begins the town was affected by a meteor shower. The meteors brought the main character,
Clark, to planet Earth; he was found by an older couple, Jonathan and Martha Kent, who weren't
able to have children. Clark is no ordinary boy though, he has the powers of Superman; the super
strength, and fast speed. Throughout the show we see him wear all three of Superman colors red,
yellow, and blue. The television takes the audience twelve years after the meteor shower struck
Smallville and shows how the town is still being affected by red and green kryptonite. The series
Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes place in a small town Sunnydale, which is above the hellmouth.
Buffy who is the main character, became a vampire slayer when she turned fifteen. She has the
duties to protect her town, and save the world from vampires, and demons taking over. Her parents
are divorced, she is taken care of by her mother and her watcher Giles.

Character Analysis Of Iggy Lee In Freak The Mighty
If you have ever heard the quote "Don't judge a book by its cover" well, that's what everyone

everyone was afraid of him, but like I said before, don't judge a book by its cover. But everyone did
that to Max, just about until Freak came along and made people think of Max in a new way. The
character Iggy Lee is first described as a "Big hairy dude with a beer gut and a bunch of blue tattoos.
He has a beard that looks to be made of barbed wire." If we were judging solely on his appearance,
we might assume that he is big, mean, and bad. In fact, when we first see him, he looks like a hairy
brute. Iggy Lee also seems scary by the way "He is always yelling at Loretta to shut up." This shows

Analysis Of Our Souls At Night By Kent Haruf
Love is a concept that has been dissected and criticized since the beginning of time. People can see,
feel, and hear love but understanding the theory behind how love comes to be and the purpose
behind it has always been a mystery. Many psychologists and sociologists have engaged in the
conversation of love, including Ira Reiss. Reiss is a sociologist with a primary interest in love and
sexual behaviors. He proposed his own wheel theory of love which can be applied in analyzing the
book Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf. This story is about two elderly neighbors, Addie Moore and
Louis Waters, and how their relationship flourished from being neighborly to love one another. In
reviewing this piece of literature, a person can clearly see the four stages of Reiss' Wheel Theory
and how they developed at different times. Rapport is the first spoke on Reiss' Wheel Theory. The
development of rapport "encompasses a feeling of being at ease and able to communicate with each
other" (Starbuck & Lundy, 2015). If a couple has similar social and cultural values they are more
likely to develop rapport (Starbuck & Lundy, 2015). Kent Haruf developed this theory in his book
Our Souls at Night. Taking a critical view, a person can see how rapport was engaged throughout the
first few weeks of Addie and Louis relationship. Looking at the first few days of their sleeping
arrangement people get an uncomfortable feeling but as the story goes on Haruf shows them to be
more at ease. After Louis'

Essay on Superman vs. Christ
"Faster than a speeding bullet, stronger than a locomotive, jumps tall buildings in a single bound."
Superman is known throughout the world for being the savior of a city called Metropolis. In every
comic book, movie, or action figure ever presented to the public, Superman is a handsome, strong
man who can defeat all odds at all times. The movie Superman was a success, showing how the
superhero saved lives and yet lived a humble life. As one watches the movie, though, he might

At the beginning of the movie, it shows three people standing on trial and a vote that was to be
decided by Jor–el. Zod, who was one of two men on trial, told Jor–el to let him go and that he would
let Jor–el have reign over the new world, which is also said when the devil is speaking to God and
trying to keep himself out of what was to become Hell. One of the strongest points in the movie that
showed itself to be on the same path as Christ's coming was when Jor–el said "the father in the son,
and the son in the father," before he was to send Kah–lel off into the universe towards Earth.
Another moment was when Kah–lel throws the crystal and his father appears to tell his son that he is
pleased with him and that he should now start his ministry after roaming the wilderness for the past
twelve years. Not only does this scene in the movie agree with the Bible's story of Christ's twelve
lost years, but it also is similar to when Christ was baptized by John. When Christ's baptism took
place in the river Jordan, a voice from Heaven came down upon the crowd and said, "This is my
Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." From the beginning to end of the movie, there are
times in which Superman looked to be modeled after the story of Christ's coming.

The next stage is a stage of providing the actual change actions. Here, the company has chosen a

Dave Short Story Essay

  • 1. Dave Short Story Essay Humans are the most extraordinary creatures in this whole universe. People are capable of unimaginable things such as loving with all our heart, building structures to the sky, and creating more people. But, sadly, no matter how much love we give, how tall the buildings we create are, and no matter how many more people we birth, we are and always be corrupt. We will always be full of evil. Full of crime, and hate. We murder, we steal, and we lie. We are bringing hell onto the earth once full of pure kindness. In the mass of all this hatred and crime, there are a select handful of people who show this world that the earth isn 't as bad as it may seem. This story is about a man who defies all odds. Who makes the the world seem a little bit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She did request for us to tell you she hopes you "get to feeling better". Dave nodded, as his heart dropped. "What about Stacey? The lady who found me?" The nurses smile had completely vanished. "She did visit but, she left after her husband had called." Dave didn 't remember her having a husband. He started to lay back and jumped when the nurse picked her perky attitude up. "But, we will have a nurse right by you at all times until you are ready to leave." She sat next to him and read the clipboard she was holding. "And that nurse is me!" Dave was about to laugh when there was a knock at the door, before opening. A man in a blue lab coat walked in. "Hello, Mr. Walker. How're you feeling?" Dave nodded. "Kind of... fuzzy." He replied. The doctor smiled and told him how he had suffered a mild stroke. Also that they would keep him there for a few days for surveillance. The nurse patted his arm and they left. Dave was alone, again. His mind began to wonder, to leave his head. How come he was always alone? How was it that he gave, and gave everything he had but when he needed someone... not even his sister was around. He remembered the day when Martha walked not only from his family, but from him. "If you are not going to support me, and her... then I am leaving!" And just like that... she was gone. "NO!" Dave was knocked into reality when he heard a loud scream. He looked around, and called out "Hello?" ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Kent State University Internship Assignment This past summer, I had the opportunity to study at Kent State University's NYC Studio and intern at Fabric to Finish, Inc., a product–development consulting firm in the Garment Center. I valued my time there, but would not call my internship a success. I was inexperienced and undereducated and it showed in nearly everything I did. In fact, I knew nothing about the product development process and made countless mistakes. I understand that making mistakes while interning is apart of the learning process and is more or less normal, but being normal is not acceptable for me. While I was embarrassed of my lack knowledge, I still loved going to my internship everyday, being able to help create a product from start to finish – figuring out what fabric ... After working in the field for a number of years and gaining the practical experience I need, I will more than likely return to school and peruse a graduate degree in either Business Administration or Global Fashion Management (depending on what direction my career goes in), and achieve my ultimate goal of being the vice president of product development at a prominent fashion house. My success is contingent on continuing my education at FIT and I cannot wait to start my career in product ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about Plainsong by Kent Haruf Plainsong by Kent Haruf Kent Haruf was born and raised on the north east plains of Colorado and attended Nebraska Weslegan University and The University of Iowa. After he graduated he owned a chicken ranch in Colorado, work at the Royal Gorge Bridge and was in the peace corps before he settled down to teach at the University of Iowa. He has had much experience in small town life, which is why his book, Plainsong is so beautifully written. Haruf has first hand experience in the gossip, drama and change, which is so present in Plainsong. Change, and the parallels in the environment are the principal themes in this story. The shades on the two windows were drawn down completely to the sill." (6). Her feelings for Ike and Bobby are shown in the line, "After a moment she turned again in the bed and studied the two thin pencils of light shining at the edge of the window shade." (7). We can see that Ike and Bobby are the only happiness in her life. We also see this in the line, "the door swung inward slowly and there was their mother. . . . Yes, she said. Her voice was dry and flat, without inflection. Hello, Mother. Is something wrong? She cupped one hand over her eyes against the bright afternoon sun." (101). In that last line we see that Ike and Bobby are paralleled by the afternoon sun. There are many other times in the novel that a character's feelings are reflected in the environment. Victoria Roubideaux is a seventeen year old girl, who finds out that she is pregnant. She and her mother had a fight in the morning and in the evening, after work, she starts to walk home. "The evening wasn't cold yet when the girl left the café. But the air was turning sharp with a fall feeling of loneliness coming. Something unaccountable pending in the air." (31). In that line we see the foreshadowing of her feelings and her mother throwing her out of the house. Mrs.Stearns is a scatter–brained, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Krypton Research Paper Krypton, the home planet of Superman and the radioactive material, kryptonite... Wait. Wrong krypton. The krypton we are talking about is the kind you find on the periodic table, and even in many lighting products, such as gas lasers. Although it is not a planet and can not quite stop the powers of Superman, the element krypton has some pretty super qualities of its own. History Krypton was founded by the Scottish and English chemists, Sir William Ramsay and Morris William Travers on May 30, 1898 ("The Element Krypton," n.d.). Their goal was to find noble gas elements in the last unknown 0.05% of air by liquefying and evaporating air (Newton, 2010). Ramsay and Travers were able to liquefy it by cooling the elements, primarily oxygen, nitrogen and argon, in air to the point that they changed into a liquid state (around –320.42°F) (Newton, 2010). However, the air warmed and cause the evaporation of the three main elements, resulting in the discovery of not only krypton, but additionally xenon and neon (Newton, 2010). Physical Description Krypton, atomic symbol of Kr, received its name from the Greek word kryptos, meaning hidden (Newton, 2010). This name is quite fitting seeing as the element is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas ("Krypton," 2007) at room temperature ("The Element ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To put the small percentage into perspective, there are about 8,200 argon atoms, 184,000 oxygen atoms and 685,000 nitrogen atoms for every one krypton atom ("Krypton Element Facts," n.d.). Krypton is formed in the Earth's crust when radioactive elements, such as uranium, are broken down, and it is then harvested by liquefying and evaporating air, the same technique in which it had been discovered (Newton, ... • 9. Five Rules For Research Paper In 1967 when Sister Corita Kent came up with a set of ten rules or highly thoughtout life guidlines, her intentions were not to make them set rules, but rather, suggestions open for interpertation. As I was reading over the rules, I saw them as simple life lessons that could help me become more succesful as a human being. These rules expand past college, they take my thought process into real life situations and how they can be used in the future to better myself. As I was going down the list a few rules really stood out to me; both Rules two and three, Rule five, and Rule nine. These four made me actually stop and really dig deep into researching their meaning. Both two and three go together so I interperted them as one. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To be disciplined is to follow in a good way. To be self–disciplined is to follow in a better way. I interpereted the rule very crucially, meaning choosing the right person to follow is crucial to your future as a human being. All it takes for your life to go downhill is following in the footsteps of a terrible influence. Even though choosing a role model is a very smart thing to, your own self should be the biggest inspiration in your life. You should believe in yourself before believing in anybody else. The reason I believe this rule is so important because it stresses that influencing yourself is far more beneficial than being influenced by others even though its ok to be infuenced by others! And when you have been self–influenced you will begin to build structure with yourself leading to self– diciplinary. Finally Rule Nine states: Be happy whenever you can manage it. Enjoy yourself. Its lighter than you think. This rule is my favorite because I believe its the realest rule of them all. Life is to short to not enjoy the little things that blossum from the darkest moments. When stress levels rise you tend to think that it is the end of the world, but even from the hardest of the hardest times if there is a few seconds to be happy, make sure you charish that little moment. The hard times that drag you down can be extremely dense, but the happiness that can be shed from that is so delicate and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of these individuals, endowed with superhuman abilities, share such heroic characteristics as courage, strength, loyalty, and devotion to a higher cause. While they share many attributes, there are also several differences between Beowulf and Superman including such things as their motives and the culture that resulted in the birth of these heroes. Unknown to the pair, at the same time a trio of evil Kryptonians, all possessing the same powers as Superman, have begun to enslave all of mankind. Upon hearing this, the powerless Clark Kent decides that he must set aside his own feelings, and even the feelings of Lois Lane, in order to act for the benefit of the majority. He acts against the desires of Clark Kent, and therefore the culture of his Earth upbringing, and instead acts according to the responsibilities of a hero, therefore embracing the culture of his Kryptonian parents. This is an American retail and free services corporation that aims at providing fun to the citizens of America at large. It is one of the best service providers when it comes to hiking, camping, sporting and other traveling equipment. The U.S economy is growing rapidly and therefore it has affect any business organization of a firm. The current economic state affects the retail services of REI in the following ways. The U.S. Economy has truly possessed the capacity to mitigate the effect of downturns in local retail buyer spending. This is because of substantial exchange with outside countries. The consequence of this is retailers are encountering noteworthy decreases in deals because of individuals taking care of on their outgoings and furrowing into their properties or somewhere else, consequently the economy withstands a lot of challenges while trying to maintain its position (Mook, Quarter, Armstrong, & Whitman, 2015). Therefore, customers in the US have reduced the rate at which they purchase or search for REI services since they are a bit expensive. It is obvious that the company will have to cope with some changes. It is a fun–filled, family–friendly vacation place that everyone will enjoy and it is worth the drive. Ocean city has a lot of history to go with it. The first hotel was built by Isaac Coffin in 1869, it was the first beachfront cottage to receive paying guests. People came to fish, relax, enjoy the beauty of the ocean, and enjoy the sand. Then later there were houses being built on the strip of sand. Ocean City extends nearly 10 miles from the southern inlet to the Delaware line. Now there are hotels, motels, apartment houses and condos. Ocean city expanded when the Chesapeake Bay bridge was finished.By the 1970's there were big businesses and more apartments being built. Now there are hotels, condos, apartments, and stores everywhere you look. Ocean City is located near Fenwick Island, near the Delaware line. On the drive there you go on the Chesapeake Bay bridge. On the bridge you get a beautiful view of the bay and you see boats going all around you and under you. It is a three to four hour drive depending on traffic. Once you get to Ocean City, depending on where you are, there is a view of the bay on one side and on the other side you have a beautiful view of the waves and the sand. One downfall of this vacation is if you stay at Seaside Retreat on 138th street. When we got there the rooms were not clean. The cleaning service came ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Differences Between Superman And Superman, Television And... Cloaked in red and blue, Superman soars above Metropolis. Well known to the public, he is strong, kind, humble and in love with Lois Lane. Then he gets to work. He puts on some glasses, and he becomes Clark Kent, a mild–mannered reporter. According to the public, his relationship with Louis is platonic. Despite being the same person, depending on who you ask, they will give you a very different description of just one man. The real difference between Superman and Clark Kent isn't a disguise, but the social context in which he is seen. Much the same as Superman, people can have multiple identities, or 'frames' of themselves, each coming out in a specific social context. With social media, these different identities can be created and thrive. On public platforms, the ideal side of a person is shown, along with their close relationships, but on private sites, they don't have to worry about dealing with the pressure from others. To put simply, whether you see Superman or Clark Kent, depends on who is watching him, so it can be argued that the amount of privacy a user has on a social media platform, greatly impacts how they display themselves, and their relationships on said platform as well. Overall, some of the most popular social media platforms are public ones, such as Facebook and Instagram. Although these sites have different features, one similarity between them is how they can be used to enforce gender norms . Public sites often involve the user posting photos and ... • 21. Characteristics Of Odysseus As a kid, think of that one superhero that was on the TV or in comic books. What are some qualities that they had? Maybe Superman came to mind, who was so strong that he could lift up entire buildings in the grasp of one hand, or stop a moving train from falling off a broken bridge. It could have been the Flash, who had the ability to run around the world in seconds. He could run so fast that earth would spin in the opposite direction. Both of these heroes would use their abilities for good, saving innocent people from villains and natural disasters. They have standout qualities that make them the heroes that they are. There could be people who come to mind that may not have these superpowers, but are still considered heroes. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If he had not told the cyclops the false name, than all of the other cyclops would have come down to help the injured cyclops, and his crew and him would have ended up being killed. In this situation, Odysseus was able to save the lives of him and his crew by thinking of a way shut down one of Polyphemus' defenses. The way he does this is not obvious, and requires cleverness to think it up. This plays into his image as a hero. Odysseus' cleverness helps him get out of many situations, which but only leads into more of his favorable qualities. One of those qualities being his great leadership and his ability to guide his crew out of difficult situations. An example of Odysseus' leadership in The Iliad is when Odysseus comes up with the idea to attack troy with the trojan horse. The city of troy was enclosed in walls, making it very difficult for Odysseus to attack them. They would need a great plan in order for them to be able to attack. This is where Odysseus steps in. He comes up with the idea to create the trojan horse, and put his men inside. The trojans then take this horse inside their city, and believe that it is a gift from the spartans. The men inside the horse then come out during the night time and kill everybody in the city, and return victorious. This example shows exemplary leadership by Odysseus, because he comes up a brilliant plan to get inside the city, and then takes his army to victory. If nobody had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Characteristics Of A Hero Each one of the 7 billion humans on planet Earth has a hero. Humanity as we know it needs heroes because of myriad reasons, whether to solve problems or help people through times of need. Much more than a man in a cape with larger–than–life physical strength, anyone can be a hero if they have the right characteristics. Regardless of the duty a hero provides, he or she will hold common qualities that they must stand by. The three common qualities that make up a hero throughout all of history and into modern day heroes include: loyalty, bravery, and the willingness to make personal sacrifice for a common good. No matter the hero, whether in a poem, movie, and even reality help shape the lives of people in a positive manner. Figures that show heroic qualities became exceedingly important to societies back in the Anglo–Saxons time period but also right now in the twenty–first century because they serve a purpose. When times get tough and everything seems impossible, heroes are the ones who remind us to keep on believing. We get back up again and keep fighting and believing in ourselves. Every hero faces battles, some they may win but others they may lose. We as a society can learn from these losses and understand failure helps us aspire and grow. Loyalty, perhaps one of the most crucial qualities for a hero. A person that lacks loyalty cannot fit the characteristics of a hero because no loyalty means no reliance or trust. In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, a new being was artificially created using the parts of others. Genetic engineering and cryogenic freezing are two current technologies related to the theme in the novel of science transcending the limits of what humans can and should do. Another facet of genetic engineering, gene therapy, has shown promise. This new process aims at removing genetic defects and certain personality traits (Begley, 61). Most people do not like the idea of cloning humans. Many also disagree with being able to use genetic engineering to prevent genetic defects or to choose certain trait for their children. Many fear that children would become objects rather than human beings. President Clinton stated, "Banning human cloning reflects our humanity. It is the right thing to do. At its worst [this new method] could lead to misguided and malevolent attempts to select certain traits, even to create certain kinds of children – to make our children objects rather than cherished individuals." Besides, who can say for sure that this technology will be used in a beneficial way? Someone, somewhere is likely going to do the unethical thing (Kevles 354). Kevin T. Fitzgerald said cloning is not needed because alternate solutions to these problems already exist, social and psychological problems cannot and should not simply be solved by genetic solutions, and cloning humans for the purpose of supplying organs would cause a great ethical uproar (Fitzgerald). "Uh, what do you mean by that?" but within seconds Eliasyn felt her body being pulled and thrusted up into the air along with Diana Prince. This wasn't something that Eliasyn wanted to do. In The Superman Chronicles, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster do the opposite by using closure to take a surreal being and place him into the real world of the readers to show how alien Superman is to planet Earth. For clarity, closure is defined in Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics as, "Observing the parts but perceiving the whole." Simply put, closure in comics allows the reader to become an active participant in the story. This participation allows the reader to become fully immersed in the world of the characters which leads to an experiential connection between the reader and the character. In order to understand how real and surreal are to be interpreted in this paper, they must be defined. The Merriam–Webster Dictionary defines surreal as, "marked by the intense irrational reality of a dream," and defines real as, "not artificial, fraudulent, or illusory...occurring or existing in actuality." The creators devise diametric plots, but the use of closure as a mechanism to create the immersive worlds in which their readers and characters coexist are nearly the same. Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies Essay Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by software developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this is simple: if you want to make sure something is well built, you must design it well first, then put it together using reliable tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout decades, the methods of up front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products often made for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other. For this type of environment, more dynamic methods are required, which is why XP suits as a viable candidate. How design is altered from the traditional up front design method will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "reveals all the intentions", on the other hand, makes sense under the following train of thought: if something is simple, it is easy to understand, and therefore all or most intentions are clear to the observer. "does not have duplicated code" seems to make things easy to understand, but may not necessarily simplify a program. Finally, "has the fewest number of classes or methods" seems to be the most pertinent to the concept of simplicity. If a system consists of less functional elements than another one but holds the same product, it could be considered simpler. Following this definition, a system that contains the least amount of functional elements than any other, but holds the same product, could be considered simplest. Other than a few definitions of simplicity, Fowler mentions YAGNI, an acronym he claims is one of the "...greatest rallying cries in XP..." (Fowler). It stands for "You Aren't Going to Need it" (Fowler). The idea is summed up by Fowler as a method to only program what is currently needed for the project. This is supposed to allow easy changes to be made when needed. An example: consider the scenario where a calculator is being programmed. Its design incorporates 'addition' and 'multiplication'. Whilst implementing 'addition', it may seem logical to add some of the 'multiplication' features to reduce the amount of future work. The traditional change model consists of three steps: unfreezing, that is, recognizing the need for change because of some event or threat, the actual change actions and refreezing, that is, incorporating new ways of operating, and thinking into the everyday operations of the organization. Apply this model to the situation at the Coca–Cola Company at the point when the lawsuit was served in 1999. As it is stated in the case of Coca–Cola, "it was a marketing machine ran by bureaucrats and accountants focused more on getting the most out of what they had than of thinking of good ideas" (Harvey & Allard, 2015, p. 100). At that stage, Ivestor, who was a CEO of the company, was focusing more on the numbers and revenues than on what is really going inside of the company. He was described as "arrogant and insecure" (Harvey & Allard, 2015, p. 100) and refused to listen to his own people, working for him. Instead of solving the real problems in the company, he was focusing on keeping profits on the same level. Case gives an example of passivity of his actions by increasing the price of Coke syrup sales to bottlers to keep it. Of course, it was a mandatory action due to the "largest product recall in company history" (Harvey & Allard, 2015, p. 100) but it only accumulated a racial tension in the company, as he was indifferent to people and focused on financial results. Recently, this iconoclastic character was reintroduced to a new generation with the film Man of Steel and so began for some a look back to another era where a bold new dawn of superhero action movies was born with Superman The Movie. An inevitable debate ensued about whether a modern, technologically advanced and possibly more faithful adaptation could outshine the original, with all its nostalgia, including an inimitable portrayal of Superman given by the late Christopher Reeve. In the 2013 film Man of Steel, Henry Cavill, an up and coming British actor, portrayed Kal–El. Mr. Cavill brought a cool and quiet, yet at times very detached and alien performance that did not elicit a similar sentiment from me as did Mr. Reeve's portrayal. This was due in part to the story being retooled in favor of a bold retelling of his origins. The story now focused on him being an alien from a distant planet whose attempts to integrate into society are further complicated because he feels humanity is not ready to accept him for who he is and what that represents. The change to the storytelling dynamic also afforded a closer look at the main protagonist's relationship with both his birth father, Jor–El and his adoptive father on Earth, Jonathan Kent. Also, in comparison to Superman The Movie, the opening sequences of Man of Steel provided a more intimate portrait of the last days of Krypton, his home planet. This of course served to better flesh out more of the backstory for Kal–El and provided new insight into what had become a relatively one dimensional character in the comic books over the years. • 61. Taking a Look Back at Smallville The series Smallville takes place is a small farm town of the same name. Twelve years before the show begins the town was affected by a meteor shower. The meteors brought the main character, Clark, to planet Earth; he was found by an older couple, Jonathan and Martha Kent, who weren't able to have children. Clark is no ordinary boy though, he has the powers of Superman; the super strength, and fast speed. Throughout the show we see him wear all three of Superman colors red, yellow, and blue. The television takes the audience twelve years after the meteor shower struck Smallville and shows how the town is still being affected by red and green kryptonite. The series Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes place in a small town Sunnydale, which is above the hellmouth. Buffy who is the main character, became a vampire slayer when she turned fifteen. She has the duties to protect her town, and save the world from vampires, and demons taking over. Her parents are divorced, she is taken care of by her mother and her watcher Giles. Over the past decades, the outtake of what a superhero is, what superheroes do, and how they look like has changed drastically. "Superheroes as Dream Doubles" written by James Whitlark focuses on just that, the changes from the Golden Age to the newer Bronze Age. Whitlark covers how people get the idea of what a superhero is made they "see in themselves at least two individuals – a present self greatly in need of improvement and a future one tantalizingly out of ... • 63. Character Analysis Of Iggy Lee In Freak The Mighty If you have ever heard the quote "Don't judge a book by its cover" well, that's what everyone thought of Maxwell Kane in the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. Everyone knew him as a big kid and the son of the most famous murderer, Kenny Kane. As the son of a murderer everyone was afraid of him, but like I said before, don't judge a book by its cover. But everyone did that to Max, just about until Freak came along and made people think of Max in a new way. The character Iggy Lee is first described as a "Big hairy dude with a beer gut and a bunch of blue tattoos. He has a beard that looks to be made of barbed wire." If we were judging solely on his appearance, we might assume that he is big, mean, and bad. In fact, when we first see him, he looks like a hairy brute. Iggy Lee also seems scary by the way "He is always yelling at Loretta to shut up." This shows that he is somewhat of a bully. However, we later see him getting "All the cops in the town" to help out Max. This refutes our initial judgment by showing that Iggy Lee is a kind, caring person with an overwhelmingly big body. ... • 65. Analysis Of Our Souls At Night By Kent Haruf Love is a concept that has been dissected and criticized since the beginning of time. People can see, feel, and hear love but understanding the theory behind how love comes to be and the purpose behind it has always been a mystery. Many psychologists and sociologists have engaged in the conversation of love, including Ira Reiss. Reiss is a sociologist with a primary interest in love and sexual behaviors. He proposed his own wheel theory of love which can be applied in analyzing the book Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf. This story is about two elderly neighbors, Addie Moore and Louis Waters, and how their relationship flourished from being neighborly to love one another. In reviewing this piece of literature, a person can clearly see the four stages of Reiss' Wheel Theory and how they developed at different times. Rapport is the first spoke on Reiss' Wheel Theory. The development of rapport "encompasses a feeling of being at ease and able to communicate with each other" (Starbuck & Lundy, 2015). If a couple has similar social and cultural values they are more likely to develop rapport (Starbuck & Lundy, 2015). Kent Haruf developed this theory in his book Our Souls at Night. Taking a critical view, a person can see how rapport was engaged throughout the first few weeks of Addie and Louis relationship. Looking at the first few days of their sleeping arrangement people get an uncomfortable feeling but as the story goes on Haruf shows them to be more at ease. After Louis' ... • 67. Essay on Superman vs. Christ "Faster than a speeding bullet, stronger than a locomotive, jumps tall buildings in a single bound." Superman is known throughout the world for being the savior of a city called Metropolis. In every comic book, movie, or action figure ever presented to the public, Superman is a handsome, strong man who can defeat all odds at all times. The movie Superman was a success, showing how the superhero saved lives and yet lived a humble life. As one watches the movie, though, he might notice the many similarities between the plot of the movie and the story of Christ's coming. Superman, savior of the city Metropolis, mirrors the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. Throughout the movie Superman, the names and the actions of the characters were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of the movie, it shows three people standing on trial and a vote that was to be decided by Jor–el. Zod, who was one of two men on trial, told Jor–el to let him go and that he would let Jor–el have reign over the new world, which is also said when the devil is speaking to God and trying to keep himself out of what was to become Hell. One of the strongest points in the movie that showed itself to be on the same path as Christ's coming was when Jor–el said "the father in the son, and the son in the father," before he was to send Kah–lel off into the universe towards Earth. Another moment was when Kah–lel throws the crystal and his father appears to tell his son that he is pleased with him and that he should now start his ministry after roaming the wilderness for the past twelve years. Not only does this scene in the movie agree with the Bible's story of Christ's twelve lost years, but it also is similar to when Christ was baptized by John. When Christ's baptism took place in the river Jordan, a voice from Heaven came down upon the crowd and said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." From the beginning to end of the movie, there are times in which Superman looked to be modeled after the story of Christ's coming. While the names and the actions matched up for both stories, there were also cases where an object's appearance alone made the viewer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First of all, Superman is between the ages twenty–nine to thirty–five while Christ was thirty–three years of age. Often times in Superman cartoons he is shown to be captured by his enemies in a crucified manner similar to how Christ was nailed to the cross. Then, in the movie Superman Returns, Superman harms his hands in his attempt to launch a large mass of Kryptonite, his only weakness which drains his body of vital energy, away from Earth. This also saves the lives of thousands of people and animals from the massive cracking and earthquakes occurring due to the chemicals presence on Earth. The source of thought and reason. Perhaps, it was to somehow inflict Voldemort's values and beliefs into Harry's mind to join the Death Eaters, so that way the Lord could ensure one of his horcruxes safety. Makes sense as to why Voldemort never killed nor could kill Harry or else he'd lose a fragment of himself. The meaning of lightning bolt has meant power evident in the God of Gods: Zeus. Even in the anime One Piece, it is even said that the one power mankind has never overpowered was lightning. You can draw the energy to a lightning rod however its powers are evident. To be struck by lightning usually means death because the body cannot handle the one billion joules of energy a bolt creates. Therefore, it is almost unheard of that Harry Potter survived such a traumatic experience of being stuck by Voldemort's dark magic symbolically equal to lightning. Is to withstand lightning equivalent to overcoming nature? This ability is certain to be deemed utter madness, for in all of history human have been at the hand of nature. We cannot live through an Ice Age, survive a hurricane nor live to tell the tale of the beauty and terror of an arriving tsunami. He also saw a company as a head of the class, when speaking about diversity of workforce and business. Daft was fast in his actions.
