Which code(s) might cause you difficulties when you are a practicing counselor and why?
Professional ethic codes designate the highest expectations of professional implications and describe
the potential situations that we can face in practice. Instead of these great efforts, one booklet cannot
include all we need when we encounter an ethical dilemma. Particularly, when the law and ethics
code conflicts, ethical decision making become highly critical and problematic. According to me,
one of the most challenging ethical dilemmas occurs while working with a minor client who
demands for keeping her/his information confidential. As far as I concern, this might not be
uncommon in the counseling field and ethical decision–making does not seem to be easy. Besides
the professional ethical codes, counselors have to know laws and consider the best interest of the
client. As a general rule, parents and legal guardians are responsible for and have a right to be
informed about their children until these children reach the age of eighteen. Although there are
some exceptions, this is the general rule in the US and most of the countries around the world.
Certainly, this is a reasonable rule especially if parents and legal guardians are supportive and

Ultimately, the company crumbled and the perpetrators received punishment. Unfortunately, 20,000

Personal Code of Ethics
Having a personal code of ethics is very important to me since it defines who I am and what my
beliefs are. My ethical code symbolizes who I am as an individual as a result of my moral,
religious, intellectual and cultural upbringing. One of my greatest wishes is for my personality and
actions to clearly define my code of ethics, without me verbalizing or someone else reading it on a
document. Some questions that I would like others to ask and come up with their own answers
without being doubtful and uncertain are: Is she an honest person? Is she a leader or a follower?

I will demonstrate love to others because I am acting in accordance with God's own nature.
Morally I believe that one should treat each other as they treat themselves. I am definitely a care
base thinker and insist that how one treats someone is how one should expect to be treated. I believe
that if you treat someone with love, one should expect to be loved in return.
Practice generosity Another code of ethic that is important to me is to exhibit generosity. This
code of ethic is not only based on my religious belief but it is morally right. The bible states that
God loves a cheerful giver; it also states that one should give and God will see others give to you.
I believe that generosity is the habit of giving without coercion. I think people see me as a
generous person. To me generosity goes beyond a wealthy person giving charitable donations such
as money or expensive gifts to the less fortunate. Being generous to me is merely paying a bus ticket
for my daughter since she cannot afford it. Other examples of generosity is sharing dinner with a
homeless person, giving a gift to siblings whose parents cannot afford a Christmas present. I will
continue to be generous because the thought of sharing and giving unselfishly without wanting in
return shows that I do care about others and is a personal ethics that I attribute.

It is essential for the organization to have a strong code of ethics to ensure all employees understand
the ethical expectations of the organization. The code acts as a guide for employees to ensure they
apply ethical decision making in the workplace. As the manager you will play an essential role in

2014). If all employee seek truth it will support the creation of a moral and ethical work culture. By
requiring journalist to take responsibility and accountability for being accurate it creates values.

A code of ethics is one of many documents an organization will develop to establish how they will
conduct business. In many organizations, documents such as the mission statement stand alone and
are reviewed annually, put on company letter head, passed out on business cards and so forth. To
increase the visibility of an organization, I would take steps to add bullets from the organizations
ethics program to things such as business cards, put it on the corporate website, have it as a screen
saver on all corporate computers and even integrate it into the voice mail of phones and when
callers are placed on hold. I would ensure the organization looks at its corporate ethics in a similar
fashion as this look at their vision statement.
