2. Introduction
• The republic of the north Macedonia is a country in
Southeast Europe and it gaind independence in 1991.The
largest city and the capital of the Macedonia is Skopje.
Although it is a developing country the population of this
country is 1.83 millions people Macedonia was ranked 82nd
in the human development index and provide social security
a universal health care system and free primary and
secondary education to its citizens.However , it is notable
that there are sevaral issues related to population of this
country such as decrease in population , stability in
population and increase of migration.

• One issue related to population in macedonia is the birth rate
has decline. UNICEF states that “The population has decreased
over the past ten years”(1976 p.6).Therefore, that the
population level decline because of women are delay having
children in pursuit of educational career.
The population decrease came mainly as a result of young
people leaving the country, which is one of the poorest in Europe,
over the last decade to find better paid jobs in Europe, the United
States, Australia

However , it is, twenty years after UNICEF’s
statements,the ministry of planning has revealed that there
is no change in the trend of declining births.“The population
and the birth rate are stable”(1996 ,p.7). According to the
statement of ministry of planning, we cannot see the
change in the birth rate.The birth rate and population have
remained stable, undergoing various changes and changing
reports.

Furthermore, we can consider the increase of immigrants
as another factor affecting the population . As this statement
says, increase of migration is another reason for changing
in population.“Migrant labourers in Italy and Greece who are
still Macedonian citizen do no return periodically”(1997,p.18).
There are many reason for migration such as higher
education,Marriage and Migration as labourers.
6. writers opinion
As conclusion, we can recognize some reasons related to
population of macedonia such as decrease in population, stability
in population and increase of migration.The birth rate and the
polpulation change from time to time according to the various
changes that occur in the society. According to the definition from
the International Monetary Fund (IMF), North Macedonia is a
developing country because of its lower economic performance.
