Significance Of History Lessons And Education About...
HIROSHIMA It is often said that history has a common tendency of repeating itself; thus, the
significance of history lessons and education about historical events. There are some past events
like drought or war that people do not wish to see happen again. One such event is the dropping of
the first atomic bomb over the cities of Hiroshimaand Nagasaki after the Pearl Harbor attack by the
Japanese. After the attack on their land, the United Statesof America sought to put an end to the war
by hitting Japan with one overwhelming attack on her key cities. At 8.15am on the sixth of August
1945, the worst attack on Japan s Hiroshima city by the United States of America took place. The
attack was so devastating that it instantly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the accounts of several Japanese doctors and survivors, this was not just an
ordinary bomb but an atomic bomb. Apart from instantly killing thousands of people, the atomic
bomb left the survivors with strange symptoms and injuries such as burns and illnesses. About a
week after the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima; an unclear, incomprehensible gossip reached the
city that the city had been wrecked by the energy released when atoms were somehow split into
two (Hersey 62). The attack by the American troops totally shocked the city and its public with
unbelievably overwhelming effects. For instance, from an estimated total of two hundred and
fifty thousand people that were living in the city, over a hundred thousand people were killed by
the attack, and a hundred thousand more were injured or affected by the poisoning from
radiation. The first effects after the attack were; instant deaths, severe injuries, and fires all across
Hiroshima. Due to the severity of the attack, may people become confused as the city started
catching fire. Some people helplessly tried to search for their family members, friends, and
relatives in the midst of the confusion where some succeeded and others failed. According to a
testimony by Father Kleinsorge and Mr. Tanimoto who were an injured at the time, they tirelessly
searched for their family members and friends in the midst of the confusion and the grace of God;
they managed to aid

Bulworth s Character Analysis
The 1998 movie, Bulworth, dives into the realm of the scandalous American political system.
From income inequality, to corporate greed, Bulworth manages to put a comedic twist on a very
serious set of topics that politicians and the American public face daily. The main character, Jay
Billington Bulworth is a liberal democratic Senator from California who is running for reelection
(Bulworth: 1998). He has recently accepted millions of dollars in financial campaign donations
from large corporations in order to combat his younger, populist opponent. At the beginning of the
movie, Bulworth is sitting in his office, re watching an old commercial from a prior election
campaign. He hasn t slept or eaten for days and is considering ending his life.... Show more content

It is an exemplary piece of work that truly portrays why American is no longer the greatest country
in the world anymore. This movie has many hidden metaphors that portray the directors cynicism of
the American system. When Bulworth drinks alcohol in front of the media, he instantly captures
the attention of the nation. This is a metaphor of how both Republicans and Democrats, along with
big business manage to exploit the media and systemically hypnotize the American people.
Everyone knows that big business dominates the two principal parties and the mass media, that
things are wretched for masses of people, that race is a diversion, that social inequality is the
central issue in American life? (Walsh:

Technology Development Life Cycle ( Tdlc )
Introduction When explaining the technology development life cycle (TDLC), it is necessary to
include the technology transfer process (TTP) and the funding sources that are out there.
Without discussing all three of these areas it would be difficult to understand how an idea for an
invention makes it to being a household item. The role of the TDLC is to show how a
technology develops during each of the five stages. The TTP shows how the technology
transitions between these stages when ownerships of the project changes. Lastly, where the
funding comes from and why investors stop investing. Technology Development Life Cycle The
TDLC consists of five steps: basic research, proof of concept, early stage technology
development (ESTD), product development, and production (Branscomb, 2002). These five
steps help illustrate what is required for a technology to go from its basic research stage to being
put on the market. In its early stages, the technology is used to develop an idea and prove that it
can be done. Take Graphene for example, the basic research of this technology would have
included identifying its properties to determine if it is a flexible material (Chaochen, Tao,
Jiangang, Qinghua, Sen, Haibin, Haimei, 2015). Then the proof of concept would be showing that
graphene is a flexible substance that can potentially be incorporated into devices to increase their
durability (Chaochen, et. al., 2015). The third step, ESTD, is where a business case would be made

Essay on Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
One of the strongest emotions inherent in us as humans is desire. The majority of the time, we are
unable to control what we crave; however, with practice, we learn not all things we want are
necessary. As a result of this mature understanding, we are able to ease our feelings and sometimes
even suppress our desires. Something even more mature is understanding that when we give in to
our desires, we become vulnerable. In a harsh, brutal world, vulnerability will not work to our
advantage. In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market, she writes about a sister who succumbs to her
desire and pays dearly for it while the other sister resists her desires and receives the ultimate
reward of her sister s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lizzie, having run away from the goblin men, isn t faced with any real desire for their fruit yet;
however, at the onset of her sister s premature aging, she is forced to seek out the goblin men for
her sister s cure. She approaches the goblin men and asks them to sell any Of [their] fruits tho
much and many (387). She refuses to sit down and eat with them as they request. Because of
this, they become angry and begin to force the fruit upon her. She resists all attempts and the
goblin men leave: Lizzie uttered not a word: / Would not open lip from lip...At last the evil
people / Worn out by her resistance (430 438). She then goes home to let her sister eat the juices
she had smeared all over her skin to cure the premature aging. After eating the fruit juices, Laura
awoke as from a dream, / Laughed in the innocent old way...Her gleaming locks showed not one

Point Arena Mountain Beaver
The Point Arena mountain beaver (Aplodontia rufa nigra) is a federally listed endangered
subspecies that is restricted to the small area of Point Arena, in coastal Mendocino County,
California (Zielinski, et al., 2013). (See Figure 1). The Point Arena mountain beaver is a dark
brown, medium sized burrowing rodent with small ears and eyes, and long whiskers and claws
(National Park Service (NPS), n.d.). The subspecies is semi fossorial, spending most of its five to
six year lifespan in underground burrows (United States Fish Wildlife Service (USFWS), 2011).
The burrows are typically found on moist and steep north facing slopes or in well drained gullies;
each burrow contains separate chambers for food storage, nesting, and excrement (NPS,... Show

The subspecies was also listed as a highest priority Species of Special Concern by the State of
California (USFWS, 1998). There are many factors that play into why the Point Arena mountain
beaver is classified as endangered. In addition to their low reproductive rate, according to USFWS
(1998), the vulnerability of the mountain beaver results from two reasons: 1) few populations with
extremely limited distribution; and 2) the number of individual populations are low. Habitat loss
and fragmentation is another concern for the Point Arena mountain beaver, any disaster, natural or
manmade, has the potential to impact the subspecies (USFWS, 1998). These threats include,
elimination or degradation from land development, livestock grazing, transportation and utility
corridors, invasion of alien plant species, and timber harvest (USFWS, 1998). Additional threats to
the subspecies include, predation by feral animals and household pets, poisoning, human caused
disturbances, clumped and fragmented distribution, vulnerability to localized catastrophic events,
like fires, storms, landslides, flooding, prolonged drought, and/or disease, and most notably genetic
isolation and drift (USFWS,

The Negative Effects Of Spanish Colonization In Latin America
Spain s original goal was to come to Latin America to create wealth and spread
Christianity to the people. What happened instead was 350 years of Spanish rule that resulted in
social, political, and economic changes for the native people. The changes were both negative and
positive. Colonization helped the countries become unified under one language and religion.
However, Spanish colonization had a negative impact by creating more poverty and discrimination
toward the native people. The native people faced discrimination and inequality that caused an
increase in poverty and an income gap that still exists today. How can the gap between the rich and
the poor be closed?
The majority of Spanish people who settled in Latin America were looking for a way to increase
their wealth. They saw the native people as a source of labor they could use to complete tasks. If
the natives refused they would have the conquistadors force them. The
Spanish thought they were helping the native people by teaching them Spanish language and the
Catholic religion. In reality, the Spanish saw the native people not as good as them and treated like
slaves. The Spanish did not see them as equals and took away their human rights.
As the Spanish began to settle in Latin America, they brought with them diseases that began to
kill of the native people. Diseases such as small pox and typhus caused a decline in the native
population. The diseases reduced the native population by almost 70 percent. As a result, the
Spanish lost a great deal of their labor force. The Spanish looked for another way to get their
work done. The solution they found was to import slaves from Africa to replace the work being
done by the natives. The Africa slaves were used mostly in the sugar plantations and in Fitzgerald
2 the mines. The addition of the African people changed the social hierarchy and a new mix of
races and classes to Latin America.
The creation of interracial groups created a social hierarchy known as castes. At the top of the
hierarchy were the Spanish people who were born in Spain. The next class was the
Spanish people born in Latin America. The next level of the hierarchy was the people who were
half Spanish and half native. The next level of the

Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics Essay
Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics
At some point in life, every individual has been treated like an outsider. It occurs often with
children or teenagers. However, one can still be regarded with this attitude as an adult.
Furthermore, an entire group can feel as if they are being treated as an outsider, and sadly enough,
it does happen regularly. One author, David Hernandez, spoke about these occurrencesthrough his
poem Pigeons. With his poem, Hernandez argues that
Hispanics are never treated or viewed as insiders, but always as outsiders. Sadly enough,
I would have to agree with Hernandez s argument, for in his poem he concludes that
Hispanics are viewed as weird because of their culture, are deprived by ... Show more content on

Another argument that Hernandez brings up in his poem is that pigeons, or
Hispanics, are deprived by society. The author explains the deprivation by bluntly saying,
[n]obody wants to give pigeons a job[;] / [p]arakeets, canaries, and parrots / have the market sewn
up as far as that goes (Hernandez 1023). This is a very true statement.
Even though Hispanics can be seen working at jobs, these jobs are frequently minimum wage for
pay in which they cannot advance to higher positions. It is rare to see a
Hispanic person working in an office in which blacks and whites are the dominant customers or
employees. Also, this act of depriving is done within the school system.
Often times a child with a Hispanic background is not given the opportunity to rise to his or her
level of learning. They are often kept back and placed in lower level classes. As the author of
Pigeons so clearly argues, Hispanics are not given as many opportunities to succeed by American
society.
Hernandez makes another clear argument statement with his poem Pigeons. He makes the point
that his ethnic group is not accepted by many Americans. He asks a simple but strong question
within his poem: When was the last time you saw a pigeon in someone s home? (Hernandez
1023). Hispanics are not usually welcomed in the homes of whites or blacks for the main fact

Mango Street Metaphors
Throughout the novella, The House On Mango Street, author Sandra Cisneros conveys Esperanza s
ideas and thoughts through her everyday surroundings. The metaphors in this bildungsroman
exploit Esperanza s maturity growth from start to finish. Without these metaphors, it would be a
significant challenge for the reader to comprehend and connect with Esperanza. Cisneros
demonstrates the themes of the evolution of thinking and personality through the metaphor of
balloons, trees, and bums. First of all, Cisneros showcases the metaphor of balloons as Esperanza
s personal views about being stuck in Mango Street. Cisneros makes an apparent connection to
having some sense of shame with being an occupant of Mango Street. Esperanza carries this burden
of shame around with her, similar to a redballoon, a balloon tied to an anchor (Cisneros 9). This
develops an image in the reader s mind, allowing them to see the balloon, free to move around,
but with no range or hope of becoming unattached to the anchor. Cisneros conveys that
Esperanza is fed up with her temporary (5) life that should only last for the time being (5). The
reader learns that it is near impossible to simply leave the neighborhood, and leave the shame
behind with the neighborhood itself. Cisneros also chooses the color red for Esperanza s balloon.
This is significant because since red is a standout color, the shame of Mango Street stands out to
those who have not experienced anything similar to this type of neighborhood. Such a burden
singles out Esperanza in the crowd, making her unfavorably unique. This includes being seen as the
other half of society, that is unsuccessful and that barely has enough money to make repairs to their
own house. The red balloon describes the ideal and vision of freedom, with several strict limitations
and drawbacks that encompass the weight of the anchor.
Along with the metaphor of balloons, Cisneros employs a second non human object as a
representative of Esperanza s evolution of thinking. The metaphor of trees represents Esperanza s
progression of change and hope for the the future, no matter the circumstance. Appearing in both the
beginning and end of the novella, trees are the building blocks of who Esperanza

International Market and Trade Research in Ireland
International market and trade research is beyond the capabilities and needs of the small Irish
exporter. Discuss.
International Marketing and Trade Research follows the very same path as domestic research, only
that there are a few more problems that can arise when entering the international market. Customers
in international markets may have very different customs, cultures, and expectations from the same
company than those in their own mother country. In this case, secondary information must be
collected from each separate country and then combined, or compared. This is a time consuming
process and can be confusing but is it beyond the capabilities of the small Irish exporter?

Geographic distance would be a definite problem for the small Irish exporter being that Ireland is an
island on the edge of Europe so physical remoteness is an issue for export etc. But on the upscale
we are easily accessible by sea. Our small size could pose a problem on the international market
for the small exporter. The difference in climate that can occur in Ireland depending on the product
could raise some issues also. Bearing these factors in mind, conducting a feasibility study before
considering a prospective market would be an excellent idea.
Economic distance especially now more so than ever with the EU bailout of Ireland, financial
resources are at an all time low and many markets might be dubious about trading with an Irish
exporter. There could be difference in costs and quality of natural resources, financial resources,
human resources, infrastructure, intermediate inputs or information or knowledge. However our
natural and human resource standards remain very high aswell as a highly educated workforce so
the exporter should be capable of breaking into some foreign markets based on Ireland s continued
good reputation internationally.
It really would depend exactly on what specific type of industry the small Irish firm was dealing in.
According to Ghemawat In some industries, however, competitive advantage comes from economic

The Importance of Masculine and Feminine in Dr. Strangelove
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) is a dark
comedy film by Stanley Kubrick. The film deals with nuclear war which was a hot topic during
the 50 s and 60 s. Americans were very paranoid about communists and nuclear war at this time.
This film shows how ridiculous the paranoia about nuclear war through a sexual relationship
allegory. The allegory deals with the masculine and the feminine. The masculine is an important
part of the nuclear war efforts while the feminine takes a backseat. The feminine is displayed in
men as a negative. The sexual allegory becomes funny through ... Show more content on

Strangelove are all shown as weak and impotent. The characters are either physically handicapped
or just weak minded. Mandrake and President both are represented as meek while Dr. Strangelove is
physically impaired in a wheelchair with a prosthetic arm. These characters are all hesitant in
some way to wage war which is shown as a negative. They are seen as incapable when it comes
time to take control of the situation. Mandrake couldn t stop Jack D. Ripper from launching the
nuke. The President couldn t seize control over his own army. Dr. Strangelove couldn t control his
arm at the very end. These are all deliberate to show their submissive femininity.
The president and Mandrake are both feminine in their demeanor and personality. They don t
want to go to war, but they also cannot take control and stop the war. This can be seen as the
female of the relationship not wanting sex. This leads those masculine men frustrated. The
masculine characters in the film, Buck and Jack D. Ripper, are quite enthusiastic for nuclear war
and sex. Their desire for sex and war allows them to go forward in the war effort in an energetic
manner.
Buck is always energetic when talking about the war, so much so, that he literally fights in the war
room. Buck wrestles with the Russian diplomat due to his enthusiasm for war and his sexual
frustration. This causes the president to say There is no fighting in the war room. The movie uses

Theodore Bundy was born on November 24th 1946. He was born to an unwed mother who was
told that she was his sister. He was raised by his grandparents who portrayed themselves as his
parents throughout his early childhood years. According to the article I read Ted s grandfather

awkward, but during high school he developed into good looking guy and was liked by many.

Psychodynamic theorists believe that this disorder begins during infancy when infants either
develop trust or mistrust towards their caregivers. In the case of Ted this very issue caused a lot
of turmoil for him. He grew up thinking that his grandparents were his parents and that is sister
was his mother. I think that this was very hard for him to accept and he felt like he could not
trust anyone. Researchers have supported the psychodynamic theory by claiming that people
with disorder have been subjected to family violence and parental conflict or divorce. Ted s
grandfather was said to be violent towards Ted and his other siblings. I believe that Ted s
environment played a huge role in his developing antisocial disorder and that these factors
would be listed under axis IV of the DSM IV TR. Michael Packard who was an editor for DSM
IV s criteria developed a way to determining the GAF or the Global Assessment Functioning. He
suggests moving up and down the scale until the person s status at that moment is described. I
chose the time in Ted s life when he was killing and found his GAF to be a 4 or lower according
Packard s method. At this level the DSM IV s criteria would be that Ted was a persistent danger of
severely hurting others (Midwest Behavioral Health Network, 2009). Psychodynamic theorists
would believe that Ted s past experiences would contribute to his disorder. They believe that

Heart Of Darkness Two Places Essay
In the story Heart of Darkness The author Joesph Conrad contrasts different places and people
throughout the story. One of the main contrasted elements that is focused on is Africa and Europe.
Contrasting these two places adds depth to the story and also helps complete the theme of the story.
Conrad uses this contrast to create the theme of innate evil in every man
Conrad makes Africa seem mysterious and appealing to show why men and settlers would be
attracted to Africa. To the Europeans the natives of Africa are not people to them. The jungle is a
dark and dangerous place compared to Europe s living standards. In contrast to Africa, Europe is
classified as a Utopian society. It holds all the cultured people and the classy people. The people
that live in each society is the most contrasting part of the story. The Europeans have a government

The contrast of the continents serves as a substantial reason for the drastic change within one s
character. Each character s downfall of morals is justified by the idea that one becomes their
surroundings which means the further they fall the longer they stay in Africa. Africa essentially
became their heart of darkness. Also there are psychological effects. Being in such an unfamiliar
place leads to confusion of what is right wrong and what is reality. Even though Africa to them is
hardly a place and the people barley human to them, it has caused their flaws.
In the story Heart Of Darkness The author Conrad uses many different contrast to form the theme
of the story.Three things lead to the important meaning of the novel, They are the Europeans and
the savages and the evil present in every man. All of the contrasts in this story add up to one

Compare And Contrast The Four Sects In Hinduism
In Hinduism, unlike the other religions we have read about, there is not as much of a rivalry
between sects. Instead, each sect preaches tolerance and acceptance towards one another. As
situations changed and different responses were expressed, the four major sects were created:
Vaishnavism, Shaivism, Shaktism, and Smartism. Vaishnavism and Shivaism share the similarity
of being monotheistic in nature with each believing in one supreme G d Vishnu or Shiva

The album seems to be a repeat of the same catchy tunes from the first album Bad Blood but with
some additional songs added to it. Best to buy the second Album unless you re a collector, and
just hope that future additional albums have newer original songs on them. If this is a sign of
what is to come with this group then their fame may be short lived once the catchy tune where
off. When you listen to the album Bad Blood the rhythm is catchy kind of humdrum and simple
in ways with all the songs though the lyrics are different. Lyrics alone cannot support success.
Bastille has its sights set on bigger things. Bad Blood is a sometimes catchy but ultimately fairly
brittle album, and Mr. Smith is a singer with character in his voice but without much power .
(Caramanica 2014) Sadly, Smith s own writing takes a downward turn. Where the mix tapes are
eclectic, intricately woven pieces, his material lacks the same creative flare. Too often Smith
relies on the same chord sequences, the same dramatic production, the same vocal melodies and
riffs. Individually the tracks are exciting and novel, but once the musical style is established Bad
Blood is far too safe. Smith s voice is missing dynamic range, resulting in an album that
collectively falls flat. It s a problem that s only exacerbated on the extended cut. Bad Blood is
desperately in need of a good trim, more variety and a tighter focus. What s so disappointing is
Bastille s potential. The album features

Oppression In The Yellow Wallpaper And Reunion
Oppression is a theme commonly found in literary texts, which is best defined as an unjust or
excessive exercise of power. For instance, Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper
illustrates oppression through the tragic story of a woman s descent into madness as a result of her
husband s dominance over her. Additionally, John Cheever s Reunion illustrates the act of
oppression in a son s narration of his reunion with his pompous father. Although The Yellow

submissiveness can result in strained relationships and a character s destruction. In the story, The

He was a big, good looking man, and I was terribly happy to see him again. As the story goes on,
Charlie s expectations of his father are shattered upon realizing the struggle to try to salvage what is
clearly a strained relationship. Throughout Charlie s narration, it becomes apparent that the primary
reason behind the strained relationship is his father s oppressive nature. Immediately upon their
reunion, the father demonstrated an excessive exercise of power by patronizing the waiters in the
restaurants he attended with Charlie, I have a whistle that is audible only to the ears of old waiters.
Now, take out your little pad and your little pencil and see if you can get this straight: two Beefeater

superiority through his boastful use of foreign words and ill mannered behavior, Well, the hell with
you. Vada all inferno. Due to his desperate attempt to impress Charlie by unjustifiably commanding
those around him, the father diminishes his chance of a healthy relationship with his son. Although

oppressive nature shattered his son s mindset of building a healthy relationship with

Even if the Czech market could appear already saturated by the fast food chains, it was stated that
they have prospered in the Czech Republic for a long period of time and a further growth is still
possible in this segment of the market ;moreover, Domino s pizza has already showed his capacity
to handle the competitors through two main strategies: the innovation in the product and the focus
on customer loyalty implemented by the use of digital ordering platform, through which clients can

Informative Essay On Twin
Introduction: We go together like copy and paste. Some people would say it s just a twin thing
you wouldn t understand. All throughout your life you are asked who was born first, are you
identical or fraternal, you guys do know you look nothing alike, can you feel each other s pain,
do you guys fight, do you guys do everything together, or even how do I tell you guys apart.
Another question we are asked is so that means you have the same birthday, right . Don t get me
wrong there are many advantages of being a twin, but along with those advantages comes many
disadvantages.
Main point: First let me start by telling you what the really meaning of twin is. The term twins
actually comes from the ancient German word twin or twine meaning two together. There are
identical twins, and fraternal twins. Identical twins mean that they develop from one zygote that
splits and forms two embryos, or dizygotic or also known as fraternal, meaning that they develop
from two eggs. A big thing that people do not understand is that twins can be two girls, two
boys, or even a boy and a girl. Growing up I went to school many different sets of twins and none of
us act the same so when we get asked what it is like to be a twin, we can only answer for our twin
experience and not for everyone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

times. We also get away with using each other s driver s license when we didn t have our own.

Faith In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
Young Goodman Brown story was very interesting as it talked about God and Brown s faith.
When he went out in the forest in Salem Village, I believed everything that happened was
something conjured by evil but Brown put himself in that situation. That morning, his wife Faith
asked him for a hug and kiss, and tried to convince her husband Brown, not to go into the forest at
night. She whispered in his ear, Put off your journey until sunrise, and sleep in your own bed
tonight, (Brown 386). Faith was a Godly woman who always prayed for her and her husband. She
too had troubled dreams and thoughts. She was afraid of herself sometimes, especially of her
thoughts. Brown never knew about her doubtful thoughts. Brown didn t understand with it being...

When he started praying, a dark black cloud shifted northward and came along some confused

Pros And Cons Of Free Trade In Canada
FREE TRADE IN CANADA
Intro:
Investopedia.com states, free trade is the economic policy of not discriminating against imports
from and exports to foreign jurisdictions. (Buyers and sellers from separate economies may
voluntarily trade without the domestic government applying tariffs, quotas, subsidies or
prohibitions on their goods or services.) In the previous decade, one of the many controversial
subjects in the Canadian economy included whether or not it was beneficial for our federal
government to eradicate free trade or open it up to other nations. During my research, I discovered
that free trade agreements between Canada and other nations were not as beneficial as they may
have seemed for they were often business and market oriented. ... Show more content on

To cut costs, companies relocate their factories to areas with minimal pollution regulations to

resources. Globalexchange.org states, the creation of free trade agreements imperil global diversity
by accelerating the spread of genetically engineered crops, ... and erodes the public s ability to
protect our planet for future generations. All in all, the absence of environmental regulations in free

Conclusion:
In conclusion, the topic of free trade is difficult to debate and often controversial as it has
advantages but also disadvantages. Nonetheless, the drawbacks outweigh the benefits as it one,
contravenes basic moral ideologies, two, makes the rich, richer, and the poor, poorer, and three,

Adhd and Piaget s Theories
PART ONE What is attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder? ADHD is a behavioral disorder that
is neurodevelopmental in origin meaning it is caused by a biological problem with the brain
functions that control emotions and learning (Low Birthweight in Newborns). Symptoms of this
disorder range from mild to severe, and not all children will have the same symptoms. Although
no main source is known to cause this disorder, doctors and researchers believe that ADHD
symptoms are linked to neurodevelopmental problems (Low Birth Weight in Newborns). Studies
are being done to conclude other possible causes, including low birth weight. Low birth weight is a

During this stage, the child can engage in symbolic play, and have developed an imagination.
This child may use an object to represent something else, such pretending that a broom is a horse.
An important feature a child displays during this stage is egocentrism. This refers to the child s
inability to see a situation from another person s point of view. To test whether or not children are
egocentric, Piaget used the Three Mountain Task . Piaget concluded that the four year olds
thinking was egocentric, as the seven year olds was not. Children, at this stage, do not understand
more complex concepts such as cause and effect, time, and comparison. The third stage is the
Concrete Operational Stage, which occurs around age seven to age eleven. This stage marks the
beginning of logical or operational thoughts for the child. Their thinking becomes less egocentric,
and the child can now understand that although the appearance of something changes, the thing
itself does not. For example, if a child decided to spread out a pile of blocks, they know there are
still as many blocks as there were before, even though it looks different. The last stage of Piaget s
cognitive development is known as the Formal Operational Stage, which occurs between the ages
of eleven and sixteen. Adolescents have now gained the ability to think in an abstract matter, and
can now understand things such as science and algebra. The most distinct difference between the

How To Judge Pyncheon Family
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The House of Seven Gables, the unfortunate life and history behind the
once wealthy and cursed Pyncheon family is exploited. Due to selfishness and greed over a plot
of land to build what is known as the House of Seven Gables, bad blood came about between the
Pyncheon family and the Maule family. The novel picks up over a century after the murder of the
man who stole the plot of land from the Maule family, Colonel Pyncheon. The main character,
Hepzibah Pyncheon, lives alone in the House of Seven Gables while her brother, Clifford, is in jail
for the framed murder of their uncle. Jaffrey Pyncheon, their cousin, is the wealthy yet greedy judge
that accused and framed Clifford for this murder. Regardless of the negative reputation that sits with
the Pyncheon family, characters such as Clifford, Hepzibah and Phoebe all act as silver lining to
this preconceived negativity; this emphasizes that society must understand that individuals have the

Reflection Of Augustine s Confessions
Confessions is undoubtedly a prime example of an autobiography, which is an account of a person
s life written by that person. However, unlike other autobiographies written in Augustine s time, the
main focus of Confessions is the more personal, embarrassing aspects of Augustine s life. As far
as layout goes, the memoir is pretty straight forward. The first nine books of the text are devoted to
the story of Augustine s life up to his mother s death, and the last four books shift to theologyand
philosophy. The title of Augustine s autobiography, Confessions, suits the letter well. Typically
authors of autobiographies decide to leave out the most shameful, nasty bits of their life.
However, Augustine seems to mainly focus upon the negative aspects of his life, and this is what
makes Confessions confessional (Lenow, 24). Not only is Confessions a confessional
autobiography, but it is also very much a philosophical and even spiritual literary masterpiece.
Augustine s ability to intertwine theology throughout his autobiography, as well as his capability
to recognize his own flaws and sins makes Confessions an effective way to share the gospel to a
fallen world.
Augustine s writing style is effective because he does not let vulnerability affect him. He instantly
gained my respect by simply confessing his sins publicly. Augustine writes what he thinks other
people should be focusing the majority of their time upon. Clearly confessing one s sins unto the
Lord is one of those

Why Is Human Cloning Controversial
One medical topic that is considered controversial is cloning. Cloning is when scientists create

types of cloning are DNA cloning, therapeutic cloning, and reproductive cloning. DNA cloning is
when is when a scientist copies part of a strand of DNA or a gene within the DNA. This copied
piece of DNA is transferred to another organism. Therapeutic cloningproduces stem cells which are
cells capable of shifting into any type of cell. These types of cells could treat a disease. The third

The Between Roman Empire And Christianity
(1) Describe the interrelation between the Roman Empire and Christianity by examining the
following: (a) Emperor Constantine (b) The Latin Language (c) Church Ritual. The Roman Empire
was extremely instrumental in the growth and spread of Christianity. It was already about 400
years old at the birth of Jesus Christ, the founder of the Christian faith, and directly influenced his
life. The Roman Empiresaw the growing Christian cult as threat, and ordered the crucifixion of
Jesus. The followers of Christ were persecuted for centuries after his death until the Emperor
Constantine took an interest in Christianity, which was spreading rapidly throughout the empire.
Emperor Constantine encouraged the organization of Christian ideals and promoted the religion
due to its ability to unify people of different cultures, which Roman polytheism failed to do.
Constantine and the emperors that followed endorsed Christianity, and Roman culture permeated
the Christian faith: Early Christianity adopted the church rituals, language, architecture, moral
principles, and many, many other cultural products from the Roman Empire. The birth of
Christianity occurred as the Roman Empire began to split, but nearly every aspect of Roman
culture survived in Christianity. This is evident in the architecture of Christian buildings, the
elaborate rituals and practices found in many Christian sects, the date and often the very reason for
many Christian holidays, the Latin language which was used for

Relationship Between Communication And Errors
Solution Description The relationship between communication and errors has been well
established in the healthcare setting, affecting patient safety and placing the organization in a
position of risk (Friesen, Hughes and Zorn, 2007; Wasserman, 2014, Sears et al, 2013). Errors
still occur, however, and there is a focus on how healthcare can learn from the behaviors of high
reliability industries (Verschoor et al, 2007). One such behavior is that of a Safety Briefing
(DSB), through which an organization empowers every employee to be able to report issues
that have an effect, or potential effect on safety processes (Kelly, 2013; Rice, 2013; Steelman,
2014). The members of the DSB then have the responsibility for identification of poor processes,
system failures and remediation of issues. Safety issues arise in this organization on a daily basis
and are reported through an interdisciplinary online tool. Each occurrence report is written by a
staff member and routed to the department supervisor. This supervisor forwards the report to any
other relevant departments for their review. So, for example, if a patient is admitted to the
intensive care unit (ICU) from the operating room (OR) with a pressure ulcer, the event is written
up by the ICU staff and routed to the ICU supervisor, who then forwards to the ICU manager, the
OR manager, the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. Each staffed area has an identified responsible

Tony Kushner s A Gay Fantasia
American playwright Tony Kushner s momentous two part production Angels in America: A Gay
Fantasia on National Themes documents the varied lives of five men residing in New York City
throughout the 1980s AIDS epidemic. A truly unique aspect, which pertains to Kushner s
dramatized narrative, is that each focal male character is homosexual. Although these men may
share a collective sexual orientation, they experience their sexuality in their own individualistic
ways. Through the lenses of Kushner s male protagonists Roy Cohn, Joseph Pitt, Louis Ironson,
Prior Walter and Belize the play endeavours to eradicate conventional perceptions of sexuality as a
dichotomized view: heterosexuality/homosexuality. As the narrative progresses, it becomes
apparent that Angels in America contends the monolithic stereotype attributed to a homosexual
orientation, by reconceptualising the notion of sexuality as one that can be situated upon a spectrum.
The spectrum established within the play illustrates the range of contentment each character
experiences, regarding their sexuality. For example, the more out of the closet and overtly open one
is about the nature of their sexual orientation, the more seemingly secure they are with themselves
and vice versa. It appears that each male protagonist s location on the spectrum is ultimately
contingent on his enactments of gender performativity. The following analysis seeks to prove that
the more effeminate a male character acts, the more open and

Essay On Immigration Paperwork
Who wouldn t want to live and work become a U.S. citizen? However, the U.S. immigration
paperwork is something you have to contend with, and some give up midway while trying to
complete the paperwork. This reminds one of Graham Nash s songs here I am with my
immigration form: it s big enough to keep me warm the amount of paperwork is too
overwhelming. However, you can t let that put you off from your goal of becoming a U.S. citizen.
All you need to do is to think of ways and means to handle the U.S. immigration paperwork and
you are done.
How to make U.S. Immigration Paperwork Easier
The first hurdle you need to cross is to fill out the U.S. Naturalization application form, which is
actually a complex maze of U.S. immigration paperwork that can take quite a bit of your time and
lot more of your energy. Handling immigration paperwork need not be difficult, whether it is the

misplaced it or it was stolen you may submit a receipt of your Form I 90 , Application to Replace

Two copies of your color photograph along with your name and Alien Registration Number (A

The Solubility And Temperature Of Ammonium Nitrate
The Solubility and Temperature Experiment was performed to find the relationship between the
solubility and temperature of Potassium Nitrate. This experiment was done to analyze the effect if
water temperature on the amount of dissolved phosphates and nitrates in solution, which are two
major pollutants that cause fish death. Below is the results of the experiment. Test Tube Mass (g)
Temperature of Crystallization (В°C)

76.5 Based on the data, solubility of Potassium Nitrate and temperature are directly proportional.
This is indicated in the results of the experiment because as the amount of solute in the solution
increases, the solubility of the solution increases. As the solubility increases, the temperature also
increases, meaning that the relationship is directly proportional. Most of the fish death occurred in
the month of December, when water temperature was relatively cold compared to other months in
the year. Because it was experimentally determined that solubility and temperature is directly
proportional, if the water temperature is low, this means that the solubility is also low. By
analyzing the solubility curves of Ammonium Nitrate and Ammonium Phosphate, it can be
concluded that enough Ammonium Nitrate or Ammonium Phosphate can be dissolved in the river
water during December that would be dangerous to the fish.
However, by looking at the data of the Nitrate and Phosphate Concentrations in the White River
during the First 16

Imagination in the Rime of the Ancient Mariner versus...
To the Romantics, the imagination was important. It was the core and foundation of everything
they thought about, believed in, and even they way they perceived God itself. The leaders of the
Romantic Movement were undoubtedly Samuel Taylor Coleridge and his close friend, William
Wordsworth. Both were poets, and both wrote about the imagination. Wordsworth usually wrote
about those close to nature, and therefore, in the minds of the Romantics, deeper into the
imagination than the ordinary man. Coleridge, however, was to write about the supernatural, how
nature extended past the depth of the rational mind.
In two works by Coleridge, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan, both works regard
the imagination as vitally important. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one being kills merely for the sake of killing, they have just taken another being out of the frame
of the imagination. The imagination replies in an abrupt manner it simply expels said being from
the web of the imagination. Without the imagination, there becomes no religion, no friendship, no
communication, and since the imagination is synonymous with life, without the imagination, the
being ceases to exist, not die, just stop living: And I blessed them unaware. The selfsame moment
I could pray, And from my neck so free the Albatross fell off, and sank like lead into the sea...
each turned his face with a ghastly pang, and cursed me with his eye... all dumb we stood... I pass,
like night, from land to land .
There are key differences in the function and style of Kubla Khan to the workings of the
imagination in the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Instead of being a force that causes sterility,
suffering, and loneliness, in Kubla Khan the imagination becomes a creative, imaginative,
fecundative force. It has the power to create not just emotions and feelings, but with the right
tools, can create tangible works of immense power that cannot be rivaled: The shadow of the
dome of pleasure floated midway on the waves, where was heard the mingled measure from the
fountain and the caves. It was a miracle of rare device: a sunny pleasure dome with caves of ice .

Poetry Is No I Don t Mean Putting A Couple Words Together...
What is poetry? No I don t mean putting a couple words together that rhyme. Rhyme scheme is
only a component of what poetry is. I got this question asked before beginning the unit of poetry. I
said When I think about poetry I think of the flow of a river out into the ocean. The sounds and
sight of this reminds me of poetry. The sounds that the river makes are relaxing and calm as they
empty into a vast body of water. It s like the mind of a poet emptying onto a piece of paper or a
keyboard. The sight of the river flowing also reminds me of poetry. Some poems seem so calm
as they empty into the ocean, so serene. That is what poetry is to me. The flow of thoughts that
create a piece of art that is called a poem. Just as the flow of a calm river that creates another piece
of art, called an ocean.
After having my own chance to write my own poem, and also having to recite another poet s
poem, my perspective changed a bit on the whole concept of poetry. Now if someone were to ask
me what poetry is and what it meant I would say poetry is a way to express ones self. Writing a
poem is another way of showing whom you are and how you feel to people who don t know you,
or people who don t know you well enough. It s also a way to relax and release some stress. Just
like athletes go to the gym when they need to relieve some stress, writers grab their notebook and
a pencil. Poetry is like picking out what clothes you want to wear in the morning. You can either
decide to be yourself

The Rise Of The Melodrama
The Rise of the Melodrama in the 19th Century
In the nineteenth century, many movements arose in the field of theatre both in the United States
and in Europe. Some of the movements that took place in the west together with the melodrama
includes the plays o naturalism, Romanticism, well made plays of scribes and Sardou, Wilde s
drawing room comedies, symbolism and the farces of Feydeau as depicted in the late works of
Henrik Ibsen. Melodrama is a collective name to refer to open group of films that the majority of
reviewers refers to as romance, thrillers, and drama. The melodrama as a source of entertainment is
believed to have spread rapidly in the nineteenth century due to the growth of industrial revolution
and urban development (McHugh 41). It is important to note that this genre is multi disciplinary in
its nature as it accepts elements from another category of films, hence the open name category.
Therefore, melodrama is one of the widely most appreciated and has attracted the interest of many
reviewers since the nineteenth century, hence the rapid rise.
The movies under this category have attracted the attention of many reviewers because of some
reasons. The films are widely appreciated because of their wider exposition of culture as well as
sophisticated and rich subject matter. The show of culture and emotional expression that the movie
contains has drastically changed the description of the category from action films to relationship
film. Additionally, the movies

Facilitating Career Planning for African American Women in...
Most nonprofit agencies follow the same management structure. The structure normally consists of
a vertical hierarchal structure with the chief executive manager at the helm, and divisional leaders
rounding out the strategic leadership team. Since 9/11, then government shutdowns, multiple wars,
natural disasters, and the government sequester, the challenge to most nonprofits is to compete for
every available charitable dollar. Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of nonprofits must not only be
skillful in maximizing the outcomes with fewer dollars, but also politically savvy in vying for
monies for federal, state, local, foundation, and private funding sources. Because of this conundrum,
political, academic, and social connections become... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One identified contributor to women s slower than expected assent into leadership is the persistence
of assumptions and stereotypes that women are intrinsically communal or dependent and passive ,
and therefore, lack the capacity to succeed as leaders. (National Academy of Sciences National
Academy of Engineering Institute of Medicine of the National Academies, 2006 as cited by Isaac,
Kaatz Carnes, 2012). The main problem is the challenges to recruitment and retention of women in
general, and the particular subset of African American women in particular. Quantitative analysis
will be used to ascertain and organize data to offer empirical evidence that supports the claims of
low representation of African American women in Philadelphia leadership roles; however, this
qualitative study will delve into the causality of this phenomenon, and this qualitative study may
offer new insights into the involvement, and articulation of business strategies surrounding
recruitment and retention of, African American women in levels of leadership within the
Commonwealth. And while this topic may cause discomfort to both the researcher and the
interviewees, discomfort is an important, even desirable component of qualitative research. Being
uncomfortable makes us more aware and alert, stretches our thinking, and enriches our insight
about the very struggles and experiences of the marginalized or

  • 2. Significance Of History Lessons And Education About... HIROSHIMA It is often said that history has a common tendency of repeating itself; thus, the significance of history lessons and education about historical events. There are some past events like drought or war that people do not wish to see happen again. One such event is the dropping of the first atomic bomb over the cities of Hiroshimaand Nagasaki after the Pearl Harbor attack by the Japanese. After the attack on their land, the United Statesof America sought to put an end to the war by hitting Japan with one overwhelming attack on her key cities. At 8.15am on the sixth of August 1945, the worst attack on Japan s Hiroshima city by the United States of America took place. The attack was so devastating that it instantly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the accounts of several Japanese doctors and survivors, this was not just an ordinary bomb but an atomic bomb. Apart from instantly killing thousands of people, the atomic bomb left the survivors with strange symptoms and injuries such as burns and illnesses. About a week after the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima; an unclear, incomprehensible gossip reached the city that the city had been wrecked by the energy released when atoms were somehow split into two (Hersey 62). The attack by the American troops totally shocked the city and its public with unbelievably overwhelming effects. For instance, from an estimated total of two hundred and fifty thousand people that were living in the city, over a hundred thousand people were killed by the attack, and a hundred thousand more were injured or affected by the poisoning from radiation. The first effects after the attack were; instant deaths, severe injuries, and fires all across Hiroshima. Due to the severity of the attack, may people become confused as the city started catching fire. Some people helplessly tried to search for their family members, friends, and relatives in the midst of the confusion where some succeeded and others failed. According to a testimony by Father Kleinsorge and Mr. Tanimoto who were an injured at the time, they tirelessly searched for their family members and friends in the midst of the confusion and the grace of God; they managed to aid ... • 3. Bulworth s Character Analysis The 1998 movie, Bulworth, dives into the realm of the scandalous American political system. From income inequality, to corporate greed, Bulworth manages to put a comedic twist on a very serious set of topics that politicians and the American public face daily. The main character, Jay Billington Bulworth is a liberal democratic Senator from California who is running for reelection (Bulworth: 1998). He has recently accepted millions of dollars in financial campaign donations from large corporations in order to combat his younger, populist opponent. At the beginning of the movie, Bulworth is sitting in his office, re watching an old commercial from a prior election campaign. He hasn t slept or eaten for days and is considering ending his life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is an exemplary piece of work that truly portrays why American is no longer the greatest country in the world anymore. This movie has many hidden metaphors that portray the directors cynicism of the American system. When Bulworth drinks alcohol in front of the media, he instantly captures the attention of the nation. This is a metaphor of how both Republicans and Democrats, along with big business manage to exploit the media and systemically hypnotize the American people. Everyone knows that big business dominates the two principal parties and the mass media, that things are wretched for masses of people, that race is a diversion, that social inequality is the central issue in American life? • 4. Technology Development Life Cycle ( Tdlc ) Introduction When explaining the technology development life cycle (TDLC), it is necessary to include the technology transfer process (TTP) and the funding sources that are out there. Without discussing all three of these areas it would be difficult to understand how an idea for an invention makes it to being a household item. The role of the TDLC is to show how a technology develops during each of the five stages. The TTP shows how the technology transitions between these stages when ownerships of the project changes. Lastly, where the funding comes from and why investors stop investing. Technology Development Life Cycle The TDLC consists of five steps: basic research, proof of concept, early stage technology development (ESTD), product development, and production (Branscomb, 2002). These five steps help illustrate what is required for a technology to go from its basic research stage to being put on the market. In its early stages, the technology is used to develop an idea and prove that it can be done. Take Graphene for example, the basic research of this technology would have included identifying its properties to determine if it is a flexible material (Chaochen, Tao, Jiangang, Qinghua, Sen, Haibin, Haimei, 2015). Then the proof of concept would be showing that graphene is a flexible substance that can potentially be incorporated into devices to increase their durability (Chaochen, et. al., 2015). The third step, ESTD, is where a business case would be made that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market One of the strongest emotions inherent in us as humans is desire. The majority of the time, we are unable to control what we crave; however, with practice, we learn not all things we want are necessary. As a result of this mature understanding, we are able to ease our feelings and sometimes even suppress our desires. Something even more mature is understanding that when we give in to our desires, we become vulnerable. In a harsh, brutal world, vulnerability will not work to our advantage. In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market, she writes about a sister who succumbs to her desire and pays dearly for it while the other sister resists her desires and receives the ultimate reward of her sister s ... She approaches the goblin men and asks them to sell any Of [their] fruits tho much and many (387). She refuses to sit down and eat with them as they request. Because of this, they become angry and begin to force the fruit upon her. • 6. Point Arena Mountain Beaver The Point Arena mountain beaver (Aplodontia rufa nigra) is a federally listed endangered subspecies that is restricted to the small area of Point Arena, in coastal Mendocino County, California (Zielinski, et al., 2013). (See Figure 1). The Point Arena mountain beaver is a dark brown, medium sized burrowing rodent with small ears and eyes, and long whiskers and claws (National Park Service (NPS), n.d.). The subspecies is semi fossorial, spending most of its five to six year lifespan in underground burrows (United States Fish Wildlife Service (USFWS), 2011). The burrows are typically found on moist and steep north facing slopes or in well drained gullies; each burrow contains separate chambers for food storage, nesting, and excrement (NPS,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The subspecies was also listed as a highest priority Species of Special Concern by the State of California (USFWS, 1998). There are many factors that play into why the Point Arena mountain beaver is classified as endangered. In addition to their low reproductive rate, according to USFWS (1998), the vulnerability of the mountain beaver results from two reasons: 1) few populations with extremely limited distribution; and 2) the number of individual populations are low. Habitat loss and fragmentation is another concern for the Point Arena mountain beaver, any disaster, natural or manmade, has the potential to impact the subspecies (USFWS, 1998). These threats include, elimination or degradation from land development, livestock grazing, transportation and utility corridors, invasion of alien plant species, and timber harvest (USFWS, 1998). Additional threats to the subspecies include, predation by feral animals and household pets, poisoning, human caused disturbances, clumped and fragmented distribution, vulnerability to localized catastrophic events, like fires, storms, landslides, flooding, prolonged drought, and/or disease, and most notably genetic isolation and drift (USFWS, ... • 7. The Negative Effects Of Spanish Colonization In Latin America Spain s original goal was to come to Latin America to create wealth and spread Christianity to the people. What happened instead was 350 years of Spanish rule that resulted in social, political, and economic changes for the native people. The changes were both negative and positive. Colonization helped the countries become unified under one language and religion. However, Spanish colonization had a negative impact by creating more poverty and discrimination toward the native people. The native people faced discrimination and inequality that caused an increase in poverty and an income gap that still exists today. How can the gap between the rich and the poor be closed? The majority of Spanish people who settled in Latin America were looking for a way to increase their wealth. They saw the native people as a source of labor they could use to complete tasks. If the natives refused they would have the conquistadors force them. The Spanish thought they were helping the native people by teaching them Spanish language and the Catholic religion. In reality, the Spanish saw the native people not as good as them and treated like slaves. The Spanish did not see them as equals and took away their human rights. As the Spanish began to settle in Latin America, they brought with them diseases that began to kill of the native people. Diseases such as small pox and typhus caused a decline in the native population. The diseases reduced the native population by almost 70 percent. As a result, the Spanish lost a great deal of their labor force. The Spanish looked for another way to get their work done. The solution they found was to import slaves from Africa to replace the work being done by the natives. The Africa slaves were used mostly in the sugar plantations and in Fitzgerald 2 the mines. The addition of the African people changed the social hierarchy and a new mix of races and classes to Latin America. The creation of interracial groups created a social hierarchy known as castes. At the top of the hierarchy were the Spanish people who were born in Spain. The next class was the Spanish people born in Latin America. The next level of the hierarchy was the people who were half Spanish and half native. The next level of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics Essay Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics At some point in life, every individual has been treated like an outsider. It occurs often with children or teenagers. However, one can still be regarded with this attitude as an adult. Furthermore, an entire group can feel as if they are being treated as an outsider, and sadly enough, it does happen regularly. One author, David Hernandez, spoke about these occurrencesthrough his poem Pigeons. With his poem, Hernandez argues that Hispanics are never treated or viewed as insiders, but always as outsiders. Sadly enough, I would have to agree with Hernandez s argument, for in his poem he concludes that Hispanics are viewed as weird because of their culture, are deprived by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another argument that Hernandez brings up in his poem is that pigeons, or Hispanics, are deprived by society. The author explains the deprivation by bluntly saying, [n]obody wants to give pigeons a job[;] / [p]arakeets, canaries, and parrots / have the market sewn up as far as that goes (Hernandez 1023). This is a very true statement. Even though Hispanics can be seen working at jobs, these jobs are frequently minimum wage for pay in which they cannot advance to higher positions. It is rare to see a Hispanic person working in an office in which blacks and whites are the dominant customers or employees. Also, this act of depriving is done within the school system. Often times a child with a Hispanic background is not given the opportunity to rise to his or her level of learning. They are often kept back and placed in lower level classes. As the author of Pigeons so clearly argues, Hispanics are not given as many opportunities to succeed by American society. Hernandez makes another clear argument statement with his poem Pigeons. He makes the point that his ethnic group is not accepted by many Americans. He asks a simple but strong question within his poem: When was the last time you saw a pigeon in someone s home? (Hernandez 1023). Hispanics are not usually welcomed in the homes of whites or blacks for the main fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Mango Street Metaphors Throughout the novella, The House On Mango Street, author Sandra Cisneros conveys Esperanza s ideas and thoughts through her everyday surroundings. The metaphors in this bildungsroman exploit Esperanza s maturity growth from start to finish. Without these metaphors, it would be a significant challenge for the reader to comprehend and connect with Esperanza. Cisneros demonstrates the themes of the evolution of thinking and personality through the metaphor of balloons, trees, and bums. First of all, Cisneros showcases the metaphor of balloons as Esperanza s personal views about being stuck in Mango Street. Cisneros makes an apparent connection to having some sense of shame with being an occupant of Mango Street. Esperanza carries this burden of shame around with her, similar to a redballoon, a balloon tied to an anchor (Cisneros 9). This develops an image in the reader s mind, allowing them to see the balloon, free to move around, but with no range or hope of becoming unattached to the anchor. Cisneros conveys that Esperanza is fed up with her temporary (5) life that should only last for the time being (5). The reader learns that it is near impossible to simply leave the neighborhood, and leave the shame behind with the neighborhood itself. Cisneros also chooses the color red for Esperanza s balloon. This is significant because since red is a standout color, the shame of Mango Street stands out to those who have not experienced anything similar to this type of neighborhood. Such a burden singles out Esperanza in the crowd, making her unfavorably unique. This includes being seen as the other half of society, that is unsuccessful and that barely has enough money to make repairs to their own house. The red balloon describes the ideal and vision of freedom, with several strict limitations and drawbacks that encompass the weight of the anchor. Along with the metaphor of balloons, Cisneros employs a second non human object as a representative of Esperanza s evolution of thinking. The metaphor of trees represents Esperanza s progression of change and hope for the the future, no matter the circumstance. Appearing in both the beginning and end of the novella, trees are the building blocks of who Esperanza ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

International Marketing and Trade Research follows the very same path as domestic research, only that there are a few more problems that can arise when entering the international market. Customers in international markets may have very different customs, cultures, and expectations from the same company than those in their own mother country. Psychodynamic theorists believe that this disorder begins during infancy when infants either develop trust or mistrust towards their caregivers. In the case of Ted this very issue caused a lot of turmoil for him. He grew up thinking that his grandparents were his parents and that is sister was his mother. I think that this was very hard for him to accept and he felt like he could not trust anyone. Researchers have supported the psychodynamic theory by claiming that people with disorder have been subjected to family violence and parental conflict or divorce. Ted s grandfather was said to be violent towards Ted and his other siblings. I believe that Ted s environment played a huge role in his developing antisocial disorder and that these factors would be listed under axis IV of the DSM IV TR. Michael Packard who was an editor for DSM IV s criteria developed a way to determining the GAF or the Global Assessment Functioning. He suggests moving up and down the scale until the person s status at that moment is described. I chose the time in Ted s life when he was killing and found his GAF to be a 4 or lower according Packard s method. We sometimes hear it at various places we go to. It surrounds us and is a fundamental part of our lives. You cannot escape it. Music is part of our lives . Music is transmitted in different ways like someone who is trying to get a message through, or it can just be an expression of ones ideas and the overflow of emotions. That being implied remembering the Beatles of the 60 s had the same effect on individuals, and why this happens is somewhat of a mystery with all the groups out there striving for fame. The album seems to be a repeat of the same catchy tunes from the first album Bad Blood but with some additional songs added to it. Best to buy the second Album unless you re a collector, and just hope that future additional albums have newer original songs on them. If this is a sign of what is to come with this group then their fame may be short lived once the catchy tune where off. When you listen to the album Bad Blood the rhythm is catchy kind of humdrum and simple in ways with all the songs though the lyrics are different. Lyrics alone cannot support success. Bastille has its sights set on bigger things. Bad Blood is a sometimes catchy but ultimately fairly brittle album, and Mr. Smith is a singer with character in his voice but without much power . (Caramanica 2014) Sadly, Smith s own writing takes a downward turn. Where the mix tapes are eclectic, intricately woven pieces, his material lacks the same creative flare. Too often Smith relies on the same chord sequences, the same dramatic production, the same vocal melodies and riffs. Individually the tracks are exciting and novel, but once the musical style is established Bad Blood is far too safe. Smith s voice is missing dynamic range, resulting in an album that collectively falls flat. It s a problem that s only exacerbated on the extended cut. Bad Blood is desperately in need of a good trim, more variety and a tighter focus. What s so disappointing is Bastille s potential. The album features ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper illustrates oppression through the tragic story of a woman s descent into madness as a result of her husband s dominance over her. Additionally, John Cheever s Reunion illustrates the act of oppression in a son s narration of his reunion with his pompous father. He was a big, good looking man, and I was terribly happy to see him again. As the story goes on, Charlie s expectations of his father are shattered upon realizing the struggle to try to salvage what is clearly a strained relationship. Throughout Charlie s narration, it becomes apparent that the primary reason behind the strained relationship is his father s oppressive nature. Immediately upon their reunion, the father demonstrated an excessive exercise of power by patronizing the waiters in the restaurants he attended with Charlie, I have a whistle that is audible only to the ears of old waiters. Now, take out your little pad and your little pencil and see if you can get this straight: two Beefeater Gibsons. Repeat after me: two Beefeater Gibsons. In addition, the father demonstrated a sense of superiority through his boastful use of foreign words and ill mannered behavior, Well, the hell with you. Vada all inferno. Due to his desperate attempt to impress Charlie by unjustifiably commanding those around him, the father diminishes his chance of a healthy relationship with his son. ADHD is a behavioral disorder that is neurodevelopmental in origin meaning it is caused by a biological problem with the brain functions that control emotions and learning (Low Birthweight in Newborns). Symptoms of this disorder range from mild to severe, and not all children will have the same symptoms. Although no main source is known to cause this disorder, doctors and researchers believe that ADHD symptoms are linked to neurodevelopmental problems (Low Birth Weight in Newborns). This child may use an object to represent something else, such pretending that a broom is a horse. An important feature a child displays during this stage is egocentrism. This refers to the child s inability to see a situation from another person s point of view. To test whether or not children are egocentric, Piaget used the Three Mountain Task . Piaget concluded that the four year olds thinking was egocentric, as the seven year olds was not. Children, at this stage, do not understand more complex concepts such as cause and effect, time, and comparison. The third stage is the Concrete Operational Stage, which occurs around age seven to age eleven. This stage marks the beginning of logical or operational thoughts for the child. Their thinking becomes less egocentric, and the child can now understand that although the appearance of something changes, the thing itself does not. For example, if a child decided to spread out a pile of blocks, they know there are still as many blocks as there were before, even though it looks different. The last stage of Piaget s cognitive development is known as the Formal Operational Stage, which occurs between the ages of eleven and sixteen. Adolescents have now gained the ability to think in an abstract matter, and can now understand things such as science and algebra. The most distinct difference between the ... However, unlike other autobiographies written in Augustine s time, the main focus of Confessions is the more personal, embarrassing aspects of Augustine s life. As far as layout goes, the memoir is pretty straight forward. The first nine books of the text are devoted to the story of Augustine s life up to his mother s death, and the last four books shift to theologyand philosophy. The title of Augustine s autobiography, Confessions, suits the letter well. Typically authors of autobiographies decide to leave out the most shameful, nasty bits of their life. However, Augustine seems to mainly focus upon the negative aspects of his life, and this is what makes Confessions confessional (Lenow, 24). Not only is Confessions a confessional autobiography, but it is also very much a philosophical and even spiritual literary masterpiece. Augustine s ability to intertwine theology throughout his autobiography, as well as his capability to recognize his own flaws and sins makes Confessions an effective way to share the gospel to a fallen world. The Roman Empire was extremely instrumental in the growth and spread of Christianity. It was already about 400 years old at the birth of Jesus Christ, the founder of the Christian faith, and directly influenced his life. The Roman Empiresaw the growing Christian cult as threat, and ordered the crucifixion of Jesus. The followers of Christ were persecuted for centuries after his death until the Emperor Constantine took an interest in Christianity, which was spreading rapidly throughout the empire. Emperor Constantine encouraged the organization of Christian ideals and promoted the religion due to its ability to unify people of different cultures, which Roman polytheism failed to do. Constantine and the emperors that followed endorsed Christianity, and Roman culture permeated the Christian faith: Early Christianity adopted the church rituals, language, architecture, moral principles, and many, many other cultural products from the Roman Empire. The birth of Christianity occurred as the Roman Empire began to split, but nearly every aspect of Roman culture survived in Christianity. This is evident in the architecture of Christian buildings, the elaborate rituals and practices found in many Christian sects, the date and often the very reason for many Christian holidays, the Latin language which was used for ... • 36. Relationship Between Communication And Errors Solution Description The relationship between communication and errors has been well established in the healthcare setting, affecting patient safety and placing the organization in a position of risk (Friesen, Hughes and Zorn, 2007; Wasserman, 2014, Sears et al, 2013). Errors still occur, however, and there is a focus on how healthcare can learn from the behaviors of high reliability industries (Verschoor et al, 2007). One such behavior is that of a Safety Briefing (DSB), through which an organization empowers every employee to be able to report issues that have an effect, or potential effect on safety processes (Kelly, 2013; Rice, 2013; Steelman, 2014). The members of the DSB then have the responsibility for identification of poor processes, system failures and remediation of issues. Safety issues arise in this organization on a daily basis and are reported through an interdisciplinary online tool. Each occurrence report is written by a staff member and routed to the department supervisor. This supervisor forwards the report to any other relevant departments for their review. So, for example, if a patient is admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) from the operating room (OR) with a pressure ulcer, the event is written up by the ICU staff and routed to the ICU supervisor, who then forwards to the ICU manager, the OR manager, the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. Each staffed area has an identified responsible person to follow up on any issue that may affect the patients ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Democracy or liberals, are supposed to be champions of minority rights, cultural diversity and civic as opposed to ethnic nationalism (Parekh, p.5). Instead they are threatening by these groups. The fear the West shows is a fear of misguidance. They start to see the Muslimmake demands of their government for appropriate for themselves and their children such as hala meat, facilities for prayer, and schools to teach their children about their history and cultural (Parekh, p.7). Why does this seem so bad? Jews and Christians both have houses of worship and should we not give the Muslim group one. Also like the Muslims the Jews also eat hala meat but they call it Kosher. In Britain they opted for integration, in the Netherlands they are using multiculturalism as a way to break the barrels between the Muslims in their society, and finally other nations have tried one or two of the other models mentioned in order to deal with their Muslim problem (Parekh,p.7). • 38. Tony Kushner s A Gay Fantasia American playwright Tony Kushner s momentous two part production Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes documents the varied lives of five men residing in New York City throughout the 1980s AIDS epidemic. A truly unique aspect, which pertains to Kushner s dramatized narrative, is that each focal male character is homosexual. Although these men may share a collective sexual orientation, they experience their sexuality in their own individualistic ways. Through the lenses of Kushner s male protagonists Roy Cohn, Joseph Pitt, Louis Ironson, Prior Walter and Belize the play endeavours to eradicate conventional perceptions of sexuality as a dichotomized view: heterosexuality/homosexuality. As the narrative progresses, it becomes apparent that Angels in America contends the monolithic stereotype attributed to a homosexual orientation, by reconceptualising the notion of sexuality as one that can be situated upon a spectrum. The spectrum established within the play illustrates the range of contentment each character experiences, regarding their sexuality. For example, the more out of the closet and overtly open one is about the nature of their sexual orientation, the more seemingly secure they are with themselves and vice versa. It appears that each male protagonist s location on the spectrum is ultimately contingent on his enactments of gender performativity. The following analysis seeks to prove that the more effeminate a male character acts, the more open and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Solubility And Temperature Of Ammonium Nitrate The Solubility and Temperature Experiment was performed to find the relationship between the solubility and temperature of Potassium Nitrate. This experiment was done to analyze the effect if water temperature on the amount of dissolved phosphates and nitrates in solution, which are two major pollutants that cause fish death. Below is the results of the experiment. Test Tube Mass (g) Temperature of Crystallization (В°C) 2.0 34.1 4.0 47.9 6.0 59.5 8.0 76.5 Based on the data, solubility of Potassium Nitrate and temperature are directly proportional. This is indicated in the results of the experiment because as the amount of solute in the solution increases, the solubility of the solution increases. As the solubility increases, the temperature also increases, meaning that the relationship is directly proportional. Most of the fish death occurred in the month of December, when water temperature was relatively cold compared to other months in the year. Because it was experimentally determined that solubility and temperature is directly proportional, if the water temperature is low, this means that the solubility is also low. By analyzing the solubility curves of Ammonium Nitrate and Ammonium Phosphate, it can be concluded that enough Ammonium Nitrate or Ammonium Phosphate can be dissolved in the river water during December that would be dangerous to the fish. However, by looking at the data of the Nitrate and Phosphate Concentrations in the White River during the First 16 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Imagination in the Rime of the Ancient Mariner versus... To the Romantics, the imagination was important. It was the core and foundation of everything they thought about, believed in, and even they way they perceived God itself. The leaders of the Romantic Movement were undoubtedly Samuel Taylor Coleridge and his close friend, William Wordsworth. Both were poets, and both wrote about the imagination. Wordsworth usually wrote about those close to nature, and therefore, in the minds of the Romantics, deeper into the imagination than the ordinary man. Coleridge, however, was to write about the supernatural, how nature extended past the depth of the rational mind. In two works by Coleridge, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan, both works regard the imagination as vitally important. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 43. Poetry Is No I Don t Mean Putting A Couple Words Together... What is poetry? No I don t mean putting a couple words together that rhyme. Rhyme scheme is only a component of what poetry is. I got this question asked before beginning the unit of poetry. I said When I think about poetry I think of the flow of a river out into the ocean. The sounds and sight of this reminds me of poetry. The sounds that the river makes are relaxing and calm as they empty into a vast body of water. It s like the mind of a poet emptying onto a piece of paper or a keyboard. The sight of the river flowing also reminds me of poetry. Some poems seem so calm as they empty into the ocean, so serene. That is what poetry is to me. The flow of thoughts that create a piece of art that is called a poem. Just as the flow of a calm river that creates another piece of art, called an ocean. After having my own chance to write my own poem, and also having to recite another poet s poem, my perspective changed a bit on the whole concept of poetry. Now if someone were to ask me what poetry is and what it meant I would say poetry is a way to express ones self. Writing a poem is another way of showing whom you are and how you feel to people who don t know you, or people who don t know you well enough. It s also a way to relax and release some stress. Just like athletes go to the gym when they need to relieve some stress, writers grab their notebook and a pencil. Poetry is like picking out what clothes you want to wear in the morning.
