Summary Of Dandelion Wine
An excerpt from the book, Dandelion Wine , was written by Ray Bradbury and published in 1957. The
story takes place in the small town of Green Town where a serial killer, The Lonely One, remains at
large. The main character, Lavinia Nebbs and her friends try to cope with the discovery of Elizabeth
Ramsell s body on their way to see a Charlie Chaplin film. Lavinia appears to be the only one not
shaken up by the horrible news, and after finding out that a conspicuous man is inquisitive about
Lavinia, the ladies appear to be on edge. Lavinia struggles to control her fear at the very end of the
story when she suspects that she is being followed by a figure, and the story ends when she arrives
home only to find that there is a man in her house. In stressful situations, fear naturally changes the
entire perspective of the situation, and is ultimately inevitable. Dandelion Wine is best analyzed from
the psychological approach because of how fear altered the character s perspective which enhanced
the setting of the story.
The ravine that runs through Green Town is an important geographical factor of the story since it is the
place where the Lonely One hid Elizabeth Ramsell s body. Ray Bradbury also uses the ravine to echo
Lavinia s perception of it before and after her fear of the Lonely One was revealed. On page two is
states, Lavinia looked and the ravine was a dynamo that never stopped running, night or day; there
was a great moving hum, a bumbling and murmuring of

Philippines Research Paper
The Philippines is located in Asia, it s a large island that has a lot of diversity and culture. The
Philippines is located directly above Indonesia and is below Taiwan. It is home to over one hundred
and five million people. The Philippines is actually considered an archipelago, and is the second
largest one in the world. The landscape is beautiful that is made up of many islands, different
landmarks and history. The capital of the Philippines is Manila, which has the highest populated
density in the world. The Philippines is a very diverse island because when it was being established
the people that came there were mostly immigrants and migrated there from other lands. They were
mainly descents of Chinese, but they also have descents of Spanish and American. They had very little
contact with surrounding countries. Since, the population was made up of immigrants the Philippines
was passed around by different rulers. At one point, the Philippines was ruled by the Spanish and that
s why most Filipinos have Spanish names because they required them to. The Philippines gets its
name from the King of Spain, Philip II, who was one of the rulers of the Philippines. Overall, Spain
had a lot of influence over the history of the Philippines. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Four Yoga Styles
You might be surprised to learn that there isn t one style of yoga practice so you ll need to learn some
more about the different styles in order to decide which one is right for you. In this article we ll take a
closer look at four practice styles: hatha yoga, vinyasa, ashtanga and power yoga to help you on the
way to your decision.
1. Hatha yoga
Hatha yoga is often used interchangeably with the word yoga and classes are usually slow paced
involving stretching, some simple breathing exercises and some seated meditations. If you are a
beginner then this is a good place to start so that you can spend time learning the basic techniques.
If you are looking for a calming and relaxing experience then hatha yoga is probably right for you. If
you d prefer something more energetic then you should consider ... Show more content on

The speed of the movements is very much dictated by the teacher, so if you find that a class is too fast
for you look for a different teacher. In order to appreciate vinyasa you need to have a teacher that you
are comfortable with as their style will shape the class, keep looking until you find someone you
connect with.
3. Ashtanga
Ashtanga is a series of poses which realign the spine, detoxify the body and build strength, stamina
and flexibility. There are 75 poses in all and they can take anywhere between an hour and a half to two
hours to complete. You start with sun salutations and then move to standing poses, seated poses,
inversions and backbends before finishing with relaxation.
You can learn ashtanga at a teacher led class, and then when you are happy with the order of the poses
you can either practice on your own or in a mysore class where you practice at your own pace but
have a teacher for guidance.
Ashtanga is a very athletic form of practice and is very popular. If you like a sense of order then this
style will appeal to

The Other Side Of The Sky Short Story
The Adventures of Buck, Farah, and Piper
Imagine undertaking a life threatening mission. In The Other Side of the Sky, Farah Ahmedi walked
several miles through desert mountains to escape to Pakistan. While Piper McCloud used teamwork,
determination, and imagination to escape I.N.S.A.N.E and keep her ability to fly in The Girl Who
Could Fly, Buck undertook the mission of adapting to the wild, so he would be able to survive in the
book, Call of the Wild. However, all three were patient, determined, and used the help of others in
order to achieve their goals.
Without the help of Ghulam Ali and a positive mind, Farah Ahmedi wouldn t have been able to escape
Pakistan. For example, as Ahmedi was being shoved farther from the border of Pakistan, The Afghans
were yelling something, and the Pakistanis were yelling back (Ahmedi para. 1). Additionally, The
guards had clubs, and they had carbines, too, which they turned around and used as weapons (Ahmedi
para. 2). Ahmedi s goal was necessary because if she hadn t escaped, she would ve continued to suffer
in the conditions she was living in, and it could ve gotten worse as the time went by. As the text states,
How did I scale that mountain so easily? How did I climb down the other side (Ahmedi para. 12)?
Also, You and your mother are in my care now (Ahmedi para. 9). Farah, her mom, and the family they
were traveling with achieved their goal by making it past the several miles of mountains with Ghulam
Ali s help. According to

Determine Your Audience
How to Determine Your Audience
Knowing your audience is a topic that we need to understand more about because by understanding an
audience the message will be better understood.
From the standpoint of the audience, having a messenger deliver a message without any reference
points makes the interpretation more difficult than it needs to be. There needs to be a frame of
reference in communication to be successful, and this example should explain a bit more about
knowing your audience. Many people develop hearing loss, or strained vision as they age, and
communicating with people with decreased senses is different than that of a person or group with
better senses of perception. Understand your audience to better communicate with them.
Audiences won t be able to understand the communication for many reasons, including language
barriers. Language barriers are real obstacles when it comes to comprehension, and knowing ... Show

Are you talking to an audience of women, men, children, students, retired people, sales people,
suppliers, etc. Or are you speaking to audience of business professionals, unemployed persons, or
anything in between? Is your audience a return customer, potential customer, upset customer, or
perhaps a potential applicant? Know who you are dealing when communicating. There are many
alternatives to consider when determining an audience, but common sense will be your best ally.
Beyond common sense, one should use good sense when communicating in a business setting. Good
common sense means many things, some examples would be using professional wording and proper
diction instead of common slang. Another methodology that can be used in business communication is
effective listening, and we will look at this in more depth in later segments. Good sense means being
aware of the time of day as well as the time of year when communicating because the audience very
well may be somewhere else mentally depending on each of those

automatically water releasing system in agriculture and green house area. Here in this paper, it
proposes the new structures of sensors for high sensitivity and three types of moisture level indication
systems which can be easily used in fields to save the power and crop. The performance comparison
made for homemade sensors and readily available sensors, sensitivity improved to the homemade
sensors. The high sensitivity and consistency achieved by tin coating to the sensor electrodes. The
system monitors the land moisture every time and maintains the fixed water levels by turning on and

Shakespeare Literary Criticism
Shakespeare s many plays are some of the most treasured and infamous works of literature in British
history and in World history. Shakespeare coined many terms and phrases commonly used in the
English language today in his writings. His works were and still are almost universally acclaimed and
admired for their level of storytelling, intelligent use of the english language, and techniques ahead of
their time. There is, however, a great deal of controversy regarding whether The Bard really authored
his plays, or whether they were mislabeled and plagiarised by a phony author. Many factors contribute
to these suspicions, and many allegations have been made regarding Shakespeare s works being
plagiarized by fellow authors and scholars.
One of the most convincing arguments that Shakespeare did not write his plays is the intimate
knowledge of royal affairs shown in his works. Plays such as Othello show an intimate knowledge of
the royal class and the military, and Shakespeare was but a poor playwright who was of obvious low
or middle class stature and values. In his book Is Shakespeare Dead?, well known and proven author
Mark Twain states this about his views on the Shakespeare Plagiarism controversy, It is surmised by
the biographers that the young Shakespeare got his vast knowledge of the law and his familiar and
accurate acquaintance with the manners and customs and shop talk of lawyers through being for a
time the CLERK OF A STRATFORD COURT: just as a bright lad like me,

A New System Of The State Of Texas
Galveston was the leading port in the state of Texas and had a population of about 37,000 people
during the 1900. Being a city on the gulf coast, getting hit by a hurricane was expected. Galveston has
been hit with many hurricanes before but one particular hurricane almost wiped out the whole city. On
September 8th, 1900, a potent hurricane producing wind up to 120 miles per hour and flooded the city
with about 15 feet of water made landfall. The aftermath of the hurricane was horrific, it broke the city
down to rubbles and a few thousands of people lost their lives. The city had a choice of either being
wiped off the map from the hurricane s damage or to start the rebuild process as soon as possible.

Although the plan was outstanding, it didn t last long due to all of the cites evolving into a council
manager form of government. A couple of actions they took to resolve their problems long term was
building a sea wall and also raising the entire city. The commissioners assigned engineers to create a
plan to protect Galveston from storms in the future. The engineers presented a two part project: To
break the forces of the waves, they recommended building a concrete seawall three miles long from
the south jetty across the eastern edge of the city and down the beach. To protect the city from
flooding, they proposed raising the level of the entire city by picking up most of the structures in the
city and filling in beneath them with sand. Taking these actions have certainly help the people of
Galveston survive through hurricanes. Galveston was in a position of needing as much help as they
could receive. With the plan of constructing a new sea wall, raising the city s level, and also
reconstructing the buildings that were destroyed from the hurricane, it was going to cost huge amount
of money to make this happen. Galveston received financial help from the county, state and federal
governments, a large portion of the burden had to be carried by the city itself, at the expense of other
projects. Even other states, cities, and countries contributed to Galveston s rebuild by donating some
money to the fund. The state

Is the emphasis on a Color Blind Society an Answer to Racism?
Racism is a word that sparks a nerve in many individuals today. As hard as it is to believe, racism is
still a big factor in what we as a society know as a unified America. Although, it is not as obvious as it
was in the past, it still goes on, just in ways that are less noticeable. We ask the question, is the
emphasis on a color blind society an answer to racism. Ward Connerly claims it is a way to stop the
segregation and make America a whole as it has been striving to be for the longest. Eduardo Bonilla
Silva believes color blind racism is the new racial ideology and still brings about racial inequality. As

He is the founder of the American Civil Rights Institute and an outspoken supporter of equal
opportunities for all Americans. He expressed his views on racism by discussing an encounter he had
with a woman. While explaining his desire to succeed at having a color blind government, the woman
commented by replying what he was doing was going to be best for his people. Although, she may not
have realized her remark offended him, situations similar to that occur all the time especially with
blacks and minorities. Persons may do it without the intention to insult, but that just proves that
everyone is viewed more so by color than by characteristics and personality. Many minorities will
always be judged by their color because whites believe that they will never have higher power. Even
though Ward Connerly went through rough obstacles growing up involving race, rather than focusing
on the bad experiences he had, he claimed that if you take people at face value and give them an
opportunity, race is irrelevant. He supports the emphasis on a color blind society so people won t use
discrimination based on the color of one s skin. He used examples such as classifications and how
there was no need to classify people by race. After the Civil War, with having separation for
bathrooms, poll taxes and water fountains, distinguishing differences between people should have

The Future Of Life Edward O Wilson
The Future of Life Analysis In The Future of Life by Edward O. Wilson, Wilson, a contemporary
scientist, illustrates the unproductive nature of environmentalists and the people firsts or anti
environmentalists. Wilson also identifies the parallels of each group and their unexpected similarities.
He satirizes the language that each group would typically use against the other. It is concluded that
people in today s world are all too literal. When everything said is taken to heart, it is difficult for the
real issues to ever be resolved. Wilson uses satire and the over exaggeration of both sides to prove a
point that neither side is focusing on the real issues at hand, both sides are simply putting the other
down. Both the environmentalists and the anti environmentalists use strong language and name

Jingle Ball Concert
Sunday, December 10 was a night to remember. Kiss 108 s Jingle Ball took place, at TD Garden,

still the best I have ever attended. The acts I missed were the boy band, Why Don t We and Girl Meets
World star Sabrina Carpenter singing two of her songs.
On the way into the concert, there was a vendor selling t shirts, after bargaining, we bought the shirts

last opening act, Max Schneider. Additional performers of the night included: Camila Cabello, Charlie
Puth, Kelly Clarkson, Halsey, Fifth Harmony, and lastly Fall Out Boy. Each sang two to four songs.
This concert was a nine act, 3 1/2 hour show.
The arena was packed with fans all different ages, all with pulsing energy. People wore festive outfits
and most were in the holiday spirit. I attended the concert with four of my closest friends, we had been

Planning For An Emergency Operation Plan
Planning is a way of preparing for an event that will happen in the future. Some plans are relatively
straightforward, and others are complex and can take months to finalize. Plans are a means to achieve
the desired result. Once the result is identified, you work backward to determine what steps will be
necessary to achieve the result or goal. This process also applies to disaster preparedness planning. To
better understand what the goals or end results should be for an emergency operation plan (EOP), it is
necessary to study and analyze post incident reports from recent events. There will always be lessons
to learn from every incident regardless of size or complexity. The military recognized this fact and
established a means of sharing post information incident with what has become to be known as an
After Action Review (AAR). This review addresses what, why, and how events occurred. Originally,
AARs were an informal debrief that compares the intended outcome versus the actual result of an
event. The primary focus of the AAR is for the participants to examine their actions and learn from
what went right and wrong during an event, which will facilitate to better decision making in future
events. Since their inception, AARs have advanced and are found in formal and informal settings.
Many post disasters documentation include some form of an AAR to document the lessons learned
from the incident. From these lessons learned, planners should review previous disaster events,

Illusions and Realities in Ibsenā€™s Plays The Wild Duck...
Illusions and Realities in Ibsen s Plays The Wild Duck and Ghosts
In Ibsen s The Wild Duck, illusions and reality are set into a conflict within the story of a son s
personal desire to confront idealism. Throughout much of the play, the son, Greger, argues the value of
truth with the reluctant Dr. Relling. Relling insists on the importance of illusions, but fails to
discourage Greger s intentions and a play that begins as a comedy quickly turns into a tragedy because
of these conflicts. At the heart of the illusions in this play are the ways that people assume many roles
in a family, impersonating multiple ideals as ways for managing their relationships. This theme of
impersonation is also developed in Ibsen s Ghosts, where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the ordinary lives of the families in Ghosts and The Wild Duck are tales of infidelity,
corruption, greed, lust, disease, and other afflictions that characterize family secrets. For example, in
Ghosts, the mother, Mrs. Alving, reveals the ways she has protected her son Oswald from the truths of
her unhappy marriage. She tells her friend and priest, Manders, ...Yes, I was always swayed by duty
and consideration for others; that was why I lied to my son, year in and year out. Oh, what a coward I
have been (315).
Manders responds, You have built up a happy illusion in your son s mind, Mrs. Alving and that is a
thing you certainly ought not to undervalue, (315) echoing Dr. Relling s belief that illusions are
sometimes more than a question of reality. In both plays, the deeper questions are about whose reality
matters, and who may determine another person s reality.
Relling accuses Greger of having a plague of ...integrity fever; and then what s worse you are always
in a delirium of hero worship; you must always have something to adore, outside yourself, which
Greger agrees to, without considering the consequences of this claim (297). In fact, Greger s certainty
about the dangers of illusions provokes the young Hedvig into an emotional despair, and she kills
herself. The issues presented in this play are not about what is true, or false, but about the ways people
build their lives on the past. Hedvig s father, Hialmar,

The Idea Of Intellectual Property
The idea of intellectual property has many correlations with the concept of the marketplace of idea.
According to a common argument, intellectual property rights spark innovation, creating positive
economic growth and benefits for all. Because the marketplace comparison is an economic one, there
is a tendency to tie intellectual property with the marketplace of ideas. The key argument arises
whether ideas intangible resources, can be protected as property using the same concepts and social
processes that protect tangible property. The concept of property stems from scarcity. Which is, the
basic economic problem that results from people having unlimited wants but limited resources.
Scarcity doesn t explicitly mean unattainable or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humans are lazy. People prefer satisfying their needs and wants the easiest way that they can. The
question then becomes whether an individual should be given societal protection through an artificial
scarcity. Why is there such a large plea for these protections? One possibility might be because
individuals prefer to get something for nothing, however still push for maximum efficiency.
Intellectual property rights are monopolies, in the sense that they indirectly take away labor in order to
preserve energy flows.
Imagine what the future may be like in fifty years with continual technological advances and the
possibility of creating intelligent machines that can construct roads, plant and produce foods, and even
build homes. Eventually, individuals will have little to no contribution in these processes. These
technologies will eventually appear as perpetual motion because individuals will receive something
for spending little to no time or energy. If all of our wants and needs were readily available, we would
then start to question the use of a monetary exchange system. Now, what would the incentive be for
protecting intellectual property rights? There most likely wouldn t be one and every inventor will
create for the sole purpose of creating. This possible, future, scenario is exactly where we are headed
regarding intellectual property rights. Everybody wants to make the

Philosophy of love and sex-Nozik Dworkin
A Nozick and Dworkin comparison
Philosophy of Love and Sex
Introduction
This paper compares and contrasts the philosophical views of two thinkers: Robert Nozick and Andrea
Dworkin on the subject of Romantic Love (Eros / Being in Love). By romantic love, Nozick and
Dworkin are referring to the possibility of two individuals sharing a single identity: in other words,
what Nozick calls love s bond and Dworkin calls communion. Where Nozick and Dworkin differ is
over the value of the pursuit of this identity by lovers. How do Dworkin and Nozick feel about the
pursuits of romantic identification by a lover and should this pursuit be unrequited? In Love s Bond by

234). This allows for a true formation of the WE complex of the intimate relationship; one that is a
merge of the ME and YOU compounds. b One becomes an expert at meeting the other s need: The
second Good of Loves Bond as stated by Nozick is that one becomes an expert at meeting their
beloved s needs; this concept is a subset of the US and WE compound. When the lover becomes an
expert at meeting the needs of the beloved, he/she gives the lover the capacity to care about the
beloved and vice versa, which in turn lengthens one s life. This ability to generate compassion and
care allows for the strengthening of the WE complex. According to Nozick, this allows the lover to
love the beloved as a whole; the lovers characteristics become about of the WE and US complex, thus,
increasing happiness, comfort and thereby, life expectancy. c giving up on searching for a new
prospective beloved. The final or third good of Love s Bond is giving up the search for a new beloved.
Nozich says: A readiness to trade up, looking for someone with better characteristics, does not fit with
an attitude of love (p. 234). This conception is built around the fact that forming a WE bond takes up a
great deal of effort both partners. Therefore, when one has finally established a true WE bond; he/she
has a higher return on investment staying

Health Insurance Pros
Have you ever thought for a moment if you got an accident and you are not health insured? What this
mean? It means help of medical expenses and hospitalization charges. Health insurance is simply the
risk of incurring any sort of medical expenses. Unfortunately, only 6 out of 10 people think that health
insurance is important (Blakely). There are two contrasting viewpoints regarding compulsion of health
insurance at government level. The debate of health insurance to be required by law opens up many
debates. Several people perceives it a trouble: many think it is beyond access of low income group and
other think that health insurance provides security to them. I believe health insurance is an essential

The opposition might be convinced with benefits of health insurance, however, they have objection
over health insurance price being costly. It is not easy to buy health insurance policies due to mountain
high premiums. A person who hardly makes both ends meet cannot afford to purchase health
insurance. Health Insurance is an extra burden to the public. Dashiell Bennett in an article pointed out
towards words of former president Barak Obama who said, People want to have health insurance but
they aren t able to pay high insurance premiums . (Bennett, 1). The opponents believe that instead of
paying high premiums people can make compulsory savings at regular period that they can use rainy
days. People can save a lot by not having health insurance. If they have health insurance the low
income group suffers they might just keep giving half of the income they are earning just to wait till
they get sick and need the medical payment. It can keep them in continuous strain of saving money for

Coast Guard Case Study
1. According to the Coast Guard Chief of Casualty Matters, there are inaccuracies on seventy five
percent of all required annual verification forms received from the field following a personnel
casualty. The magnitude of the information contained within these forms is not being properly relayed
to our members. To become proficient in collecting required documentation, the Coast Guard needs to
eliminate inaccuracies on the Designation of Beneficiaries and Record of Emergency Data Form (CG
2020D) (ref (c)), Service Members Group Life Insurance Election and Certificate Form (SGLV 8286)
(ref (d)) and the Family Coverage Election Form (SGLV 8286A) (ref (e)). Additionally, the Coast

In order to ensure the compliance and all annual verifications are completed accurately, the Coast
Guard must create a self service function located within Direct Access that would generate each form
electronically. Each member would be responsible to update their required data information during the
annually required period (ref (b)), through a self service function within Direct Access. However, the
self service function would give the member the ability to change the forms following a life event
when needed and not just during the required period. Once the member completes the data entry
requirements within each section, the system would automatically apply an official signature,
including a time and date stamp (ref (f)). Adding the electronic signature process would ensure that the
forms were not altered and were generated by the member. Currently, these forms are filled out by
hand and are maintained in the SPO PDR (ref (g)). Far too many times these forms are being
reproduced erroneously resulting in numerous forms stored between multiple PDRs creating confusion
of validity and benefit elections. By implementing an electronic validation system, following the
member s digital signature, the forms would automatically be assigned to the SPO work list for
review, verification and electronic signature from the SPO technician. Upon verification and approval,
Direct Access would automatically generate a deduction from the members pay account corresponding
with the coverage elected on the SGLV 8286 and SGLV 8286A forms. Establishing this function
would eliminate hundreds of wasted work hours annually for both the members and SPO technicians.
Each document would then be uploaded in the member s Electronically Imaged PDR for easy
availability for the Decedent Affairs Officer (DAO) following a personnel casualty. Additionally, each
electronic validation would be tracked through CGBI for command visibility. Creating this process
would catapult the Coast Guard out of

Sentiment Analysis In A Movie Review
Abstract While sentiment analysis provides fantastic insights and has a wide range of real world
applications, the overall sentiment of a piece of text won t always pinpoint the root cause of an author
s opinion. Certain types of documents, such as movie reviews, may contain fine grained sentiment
about different aspects about the service that are mentioned in text. A review about a movie may
contain opinionated sentences about its story, cast and direction. This information can help users
understand the positive and negative parts of a movie. Aspect based sentiment analysis makes it easier
to identify and determine the sentiment towards specific aspects in text. To identify different aspects
of a movie, the application needs to determine the context of a particular sentence or group of
sentences in the movie review. These contextual groupings can then be mapped to various aspects of a
movie, hence enabling us to score aspects based on their sentiment.

The Naval Battle of Port Royal was fought on November 3rd 7th 1861. Port Royal was a Confederate
city on the South Carolina coast. It was defended by 2 forts at the entrance to its harbor named Fort
Walker and Fort Beauregard. On November 3rd the attack under Union naval officer Du Pont led a
navy attack of 14 warships, 26 supply ships, 25 transports for 12,000 troops, and the flagship The

Now in looking at electronic or social media we have many choices. Facebook or our company
website would be two options. However any electronic or social media would have advantages and
disadvantages. An advantage would be that we could reach many people very quickly. Not only do
many people use social media these days, but we could use social media to incorporate some of the
traditional media styles. For example, we could use Facebook to get a video out stating our side of this
issue. On the downside, many feel as though social media is not as intimate. We need to remember
that the receiver of the electronic communications is not able to observe other important elements of
the message that often come up with face to face interactions: tone of voice, facial expressions, and
body posture, for example (Cheesebro, O Connor, amp; Rios, 2010). Nonetheless, there are studies
that are showing a substantial growth in use of electronic and social media for healthcare purposes.

John Brown s Insanity
John Brown was an African American slave abolitionist who caused much conflict with his radical
views to overthrow slavery. One of his many defeats where he tried to defeat slavery with violence
was the armed slave rebellion on Harper s Ferry. In a speech to the court before his sentencing, Brown
stated his actions to be just and God sanctioned. Brown lived a life full of dispute; yet it was not until
after Harper Ferry where his madness was confirmed. Brown soon became a hero in the eyes of
Northern extremists and was quick to capitalize on his growing reputation. Brown s radical

slaves more barbaric because they started to feel threatened as his actions. Many thought his rebellion

The period of Baroque art was from 1600 to 1750, and relates to the style of architecture and art that
was dominant at that time. Rome was the center of this new style that reļ¬‚ected the Counter
Reformation; the
Church was regrouping during this period, and was trying to build up its patronage by bringing people
back to worship after the Reformation. In much of the art during this time, the papacy commissioned

Her father was a painter named Orazio Gentileschi, who taught her how to draw and paint. Inļ¬‚uenced
by Caravaggio s work, Gentileschi also used chiaroscuro in her work and created beautifully dramatic
pieces. Like
Caravaggio, she also was able to depict a moment of elevated drama in her work and was totally
capable of emphasizing it. In the time that she lived, women generally were not painters; very few
women even attempted it, but Gentileschi was the ļ¬rst woman to actually become a member of the
prestigious Accademia di Arte Disegno in Florence, Italy and to paint important historical and
religious paintings that were actually
praised and viewed as an integral part of the artistic movement.
Both Gentileschi and Caravaggio painted unconventional religious subjects; two paintings of similar
themes are Caravaggio s David with the
Head of Goliath, (c.1610), and Gentileschi s Judith and Maidservant with the Head of Holofernes (c.
1625). Both paintings evoke drama and use the technique of chiaroscuro to add effective intensity to
the story of their paintings, which entail the heroic and rather gruesome removal of someone s head.
The subject of Gentileschi s painting comes from the
Book of Judith and relates the story of Holofernes who attacked the
Jewish people of Bethulia; Judith, who was a beautiful Hebrew widow that may have been raped by
Holoferenes, entered Holofernes s camp and beheaded him while he was

A hurricane is a tropical cyclone, with winds that reaches over 74 miles per hour. In the Southern
Hemisphere a hurricane circulates clockwise, and in the Northern Hemisphere it circulates

the water temperature is at its warmest. There are various stages that a hurricane goes through to
become one and there are also various ways to track down a hurricane too.
The first stage of a hurricane is called a tropical disturbance. The wind speed is less than twenty five

There are many different ways to track down a hurricane and one of the ways is by a satellite. In 1960,
the United States sent the first satellite to monitor the weather conditions. Technology made launching

Thus, an employer violates Title VII when the workplace is filled with discriminatory sex based
intimidation, ridicule, and insult that is sufficiently severe or pervasive to alter the conditions of the

actionable claim for sexual harassment in the workplace under Title VII, Mrs. Singleton was required
to exhibit that the offensive conduct was unwelcome, was based on her sex, was sufficiently severe or

whether a work environment is sufficiently hostile by looking at all the circumstances, including the
frequency of the discriminatory conduct; its severity; whether it is physically threatening or

  • 2. Summary Of Dandelion Wine An excerpt from the book, Dandelion Wine , was written by Ray Bradbury and published in 1957. The story takes place in the small town of Green Town where a serial killer, The Lonely One, remains at large. The main character, Lavinia Nebbs and her friends try to cope with the discovery of Elizabeth Ramsell s body on their way to see a Charlie Chaplin film. Lavinia appears to be the only one not shaken up by the horrible news, and after finding out that a conspicuous man is inquisitive about Lavinia, the ladies appear to be on edge. Lavinia struggles to control her fear at the very end of the story when she suspects that she is being followed by a figure, and the story ends when she arrives home only to find that there is a man in her house. In stressful situations, fear naturally changes the entire perspective of the situation, and is ultimately inevitable. Dandelion Wine is best analyzed from the psychological approach because of how fear altered the character s perspective which enhanced the setting of the story. The ravine that runs through Green Town is an important geographical factor of the story since it is the place where the Lonely One hid Elizabeth Ramsell s body. Ray Bradbury also uses the ravine to echo Lavinia s perception of it before and after her fear of the Lonely One was revealed. On page two is states, Lavinia looked and the ravine was a dynamo that never stopped running, night or day; there was a great moving hum, a bumbling and murmuring of ... • 5. The Other Side Of The Sky Short Story The Adventures of Buck, Farah, and Piper Imagine undertaking a life threatening mission. In The Other Side of the Sky, Farah Ahmedi walked several miles through desert mountains to escape to Pakistan. While Piper McCloud used teamwork, determination, and imagination to escape I.N.S.A.N.E and keep her ability to fly in The Girl Who Could Fly, Buck undertook the mission of adapting to the wild, so he would be able to survive in the book, Call of the Wild. However, all three were patient, determined, and used the help of others in order to achieve their goals. Without the help of Ghulam Ali and a positive mind, Farah Ahmedi wouldn t have been able to escape Pakistan. For example, as Ahmedi was being shoved farther from the border of Pakistan, The Afghans were yelling something, and the Pakistanis were yelling back (Ahmedi para. 1). Additionally, The guards had clubs, and they had carbines, too, which they turned around and used as weapons (Ahmedi para. 2). Ahmedi s goal was necessary because if she hadn t escaped, she would ve continued to suffer in the conditions she was living in, and it could ve gotten worse as the time went by. As the text states, How did I scale that mountain so easily? How did I climb down the other side (Ahmedi para. 12)? Also, You and your mother are in my care now (Ahmedi para. 9). Farah, her mom, and the family they were traveling with achieved their goal by making it past the several miles of mountains with Ghulam Ali s help. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Determine Your Audience How to Determine Your Audience Knowing your audience is a topic that we need to understand more about because by understanding an audience the message will be better understood. From the standpoint of the audience, having a messenger deliver a message without any reference points makes the interpretation more difficult than it needs to be. There needs to be a frame of reference in communication to be successful, and this example should explain a bit more about knowing your audience. Many people develop hearing loss, or strained vision as they age, and communicating with people with decreased senses is different than that of a person or group with better senses of perception. Understand your audience to better communicate with them. Audiences won t be able to understand the communication for many reasons, including language barriers. • 8. Shakespeare Literary Criticism Shakespeare s many plays are some of the most treasured and infamous works of literature in British history and in World history. Shakespeare coined many terms and phrases commonly used in the English language today in his writings. His works were and still are almost universally acclaimed and admired for their level of storytelling, intelligent use of the english language, and techniques ahead of their time. There is, however, a great deal of controversy regarding whether The Bard really authored his plays, or whether they were mislabeled and plagiarised by a phony author. Many factors contribute to these suspicions, and many allegations have been made regarding Shakespeare s works being plagiarized by fellow authors and scholars. One of the most convincing arguments that Shakespeare did not write his plays is the intimate knowledge of royal affairs shown in his works. Plays such as Othello show an intimate knowledge of the royal class and the military, and Shakespeare was but a poor playwright who was of obvious low or middle class stature and values. In his book Is Shakespeare Dead?, well known and proven author Mark Twain states this about his views on the Shakespeare Plagiarism controversy, It is surmised by the biographers that the young Shakespeare got his vast knowledge of the law and his familiar and accurate acquaintance with the manners and customs and shop talk of lawyers through being for a time the CLERK OF A STRATFORD COURT: just as a bright lad like me, ... A couple of actions they took to resolve their problems long term was building a sea wall and also raising the entire city. The commissioners assigned engineers to create a plan to protect Galveston from storms in the future. The engineers presented a two part project: To break the forces of the waves, they recommended building a concrete seawall three miles long from the south jetty across the eastern edge of the city and down the beach. To protect the city from flooding, they proposed raising the level of the entire city by picking up most of the structures in the city and filling in beneath them with sand. Taking these actions have certainly help the people of Galveston survive through hurricanes. Galveston was in a position of needing as much help as they could receive. As hard as it is to believe, racism is still a big factor in what we as a society know as a unified America. Although, it is not as obvious as it was in the past, it still goes on, just in ways that are less noticeable. We ask the question, is the emphasis on a color blind society an answer to racism. Ward Connerly claims it is a way to stop the segregation and make America a whole as it has been striving to be for the longest. Some plans are relatively straightforward, and others are complex and can take months to finalize. Plans are a means to achieve the desired result. Once the result is identified, you work backward to determine what steps will be necessary to achieve the result or goal. This process also applies to disaster preparedness planning. To better understand what the goals or end results should be for an emergency operation plan (EOP), it is necessary to study and analyze post incident reports from recent events. Illusions and Realities in Ibsen s Plays The Wild Duck and Ghosts In Ibsen s The Wild Duck, illusions and reality are set into a conflict within the story of a son s personal desire to confront idealism. The ranges of the scale go from one to five, with one being the weakest and five being the strongest. When the hurricane reaches to cooler land or water, it rapidly loses its intensity. There are many different ways to track down a hurricane and one of the ways is by a satellite. In 1960, the United States sent the first satellite to monitor the weather conditions. Technology made launching and developing the satellite easier to track down hurricanes. Before it was hard for meteorologist to track down hurricanes when they didn t have the technology to do so. Satellites are constantly taking photos. These photos can help meteorologist gather information by putting the several hours of the pictures together and predict where the hurricane is heading. The Doppler radar is another way that meteorologist can track down a hurricane. The Doppler radar can detect rain that is associated with the tropical cyclones. It is 200 to 250 mile distance radar coverage. The radar estimates the amount of rain that has fallen, and it estimates the movement, and wind speed during a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
