Narrative Essay On Cardiac Arrest
60% Rough Draft Late in the fall of my sixteenth year, my heart stopped functioning and I went into
cardiac arrest. One might think that a medical phenomenon like this is next to inconceivable, but
despite the improbable conditions, I was part of the 0.1%.
I was born with a rare heart condition called dextrocardia, also known as situs inversus. My heart and
all of my other organs are mirrored on the opposite side of my body, so instead of having my heart on
the left side of the body like the other 99.9% of the human population, it s positioned on the right side.
Because of this, I ve had health problems all my life. And with health problems comes financial
problems.
My father left us when he found out how much money his three year old daughter was costing him
between surgeries, physical therapy, and weekly examinations. That left my mother with the burden of
taking care me. She went to work, did all the housework, and never once scowled, or caused anyone
any trouble and was kind to everyone. However my aunt always hounded her for money and made
excuses about why she was in need. My mother financially supported her, doing part time ... Show

He had been watching the few moments I had conversing with him at the support group and hoped
that I could have someone to talk to. As much as he forced interaction between us, Toby and I grew
together instantaneously. Doctor Gordon would walk in every few hours, checking in on us and acting
out of character much like a hyper, optimistic school counselor. We spent the rest of the afternoon
helping Toby settle in and playing board games as well as doing other activities to get to know each
other better. After a few hours of getting used to each other, he admitted that he requested a room
change to be closer to me. So he was hitting on me. I didn t mind. I was amused by the way he flirted.
It was cute, but his charm got a hold of me and soon enough our feelings were

Beowulf Christian Or Pagan Essay
Is Beowulf a Christian or Pagan Hero? Throughout the story of Beowulf, the great warrior does many
things for many reasons. The question is, does he do these things as a Christian hero with god in mind,
or does he do it as a Pagan hero, for fame and wealth. In the epic, Beowulf battles against three
noteworthy monsters that had their fights detailed in more than a passing mention such as the many
battles and wars that he fought in. These three monsters are Grendel, Grendel s mother, who was not
named, and the Dragon. Beowulf, when contrasted with these Pagan monsters, appears Christian.
However, the first question we must ask is are the monsters Pagan? To answer this question, we will
look at each monster individually and find as many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grendel is described as Like a man but mightier than any man. (55) From this, we can assume that he
has a humanoid shape, walks on two legs, has two arms, a head, and a torso, but is taller, stronger, and
mightier than any normal man. He is not described in the text physically, but by the traits and qualities
that he exhibits. One such quote says that he is bearing God s hatred, (30) and believed in his own
strength, not the strength of God, whose love Grendel could not know. (10) From these two quotes
alone, we can infer that Grendel is definitely not Christian, as he does not have faith in God s strength
or help. From other quotes, we can further prove that he is Pagan by using examples of several Pagan
qualities that Grendel shows. From the quotes So set on murder, (8) and alone, bloodthirsty, and
horrible (9) we can see that he is quite bloodthirsty and murderous, both of which are more Pagan than
Christian qualities. Through this information, Grendel exhibits the Pagan qualities of not believing in
the strength of god, but instead believing in one s own strength. He also lusts after blood, and lives for
himself making him a Pagan

John Steinbeck s Greatest Accomplishments
John Steinbeck, born in 1902 in Salinas California to John Ernst and Olive Hamilton Steinbeck,
became one of the greatest American writers of his century. Growing up Steinbeck read vigorously
and was fascinated by Sir Thomas Malory s Morte D Arthur. It was Malory s Morte D Arthur that
influenced Steinbeck for the rest of his life. Steinbeck graduated from Salinas High School in 1919
and attended Stanford University. He took courses in science and particularly became interested in
marine biology. Although he studied at Stanford for five years, Steinbeck left without a degree
(Bloom). After moving to New York City in 1925 to take a job as a journalist, Steinbeck moved back
to California and took to many different dead end jobs before finding ... Show more content on

The Grapes of Wrath has been translated into nearly every language of the world. The novel has been
accepted as a masterpiece of world literature and is considered one of the most enduring works of
fiction by an American author. In the past 50 years, The Grapes of Wrath has sold over 14 million
copies and it still sells 100,000 paperback copies a year (Pearson). Of all his books, The Grapes of
Wrath has given Steinbeck the most popularity as an American author.
Although Steinbeck is still known for many more publications, In Dubious Battle, Of Mice and Men,
and The Grapes if Wrath were the three novels that both started his career and allowed it to prevail, his
books are said to currently sell 2 million copies a year (kinsella). Steinbeck died in New York during
the winder of 1968 but his novels are still read all over the country and he is still looked up to as one
of the best American Authors. A writer of immense popularity and public recognition during a career,
which spanned four decades, John Steinbeck, a writer of the 1930 s, is still perhaps the most
representative novelist of that decade and is still widely read and appreciated.

Economy And Its Impact On The Economy Essay
Sometime in late 1950 s Minsky started warning about the gradual shift of the economy from a very
robust financial system that was stable and with no financial crisis in the early postwar period. He had
called with his analysis that gradually over time debts in the private sector would tend to build up and
increasingly risky financial innovations would increase over time. He is very famous for the statement
that stability itself is destabilizing. Although things seem very stable today, gradually over time that
stability would build confidence in individuals to take increasingly risky positions in assets. The
model that he had built explains financial crisis in the economic system. He brings up that supply of
credit increases during boom and abruptly decreased during economic slowdown. It seems almost
intuitive that from a standpoint of an investor the great time to invest is when economy is booming to
increase his or her profitability. Lenders as the investors become increasingly optimistic about their
return and they both become less sensitive to risk. But when the economy starts slowing down
investors sell out their holding to not to lose more of their assets making the economy even more
worse off. All of the New Deal structure that have been put in place in the economy during the great
depression, drove tremendous buildup of government debt in World War II and gave a very safe asset
for the private sector. This would be in a sense leverage, safe government debt

Statistical Analysis On Pre-Eclampsia
Statistical analysis Statistical analysis was carried out using the software program Anova one way
unstacked. Quantitative data were presented as mean and standard deviation. Pearson correlation for
measuring covariance of two variables divided by the product of their standard deviations measures
the strength of a linear association between two variables and is denoted by r. The Receiver Operator
Characteristic (ROC) curve was used for prediction of pre eclampsia using sensitivity, specificity,
accuracy and the predictive values (positive and negative). Sensitivity: probability that the test results
will be positive when the disease is present (true positive rate, expressed as a percentage); Specificity:
Probability that the test results will be negative when the disease is present (true negative rate,
expressed as a percentage); Positive Predictive value (PPV: probability that the disease is present
when the test is positive); Negative Predictive value (NPV: probability that the disease is present when
the test is negative) and accuracy is the ratio of the true positive and true negative on all patients.

Child Rearing Controversy
There are numerous philosophies on how to raise children. Several parents adopt the concepts their
own parents used, others seek advice from friends and there are those that read books about parenting.
Parents come in various and diverse forms, each approaching parenting in ways as distinct as their
personalities. Philosophies on child rearing can be grouped into two styles; authoritarian, authoritative
parenting. These two styles are similar sounding, but have nuanced differences. Authoritarian parents
hold their children to an exceedingly high level of status and success. In this style of parenting,
children are expected to follow the strict rules established by the parents. Failure in following rules
typically results in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using authoritative parenting style requires setting boundaries while still being able to listen and be
patient with the child. Here is an example of the authoritarian parenting style: A child is caught hitting
their playmate. The parent responds by grabbing the child and spanking them without any explanation
of why hitting is immoral. Thus punishing the child with the same misconduct the child has committed
results in mocking of the punishment behavior. Using authoritarian style requires the ability to be
dominantly harsh while giving punishment without an explanation. There are abundant differences in
these two styles, but the most significant discrepancy is in the end product: the children. An
authoritative parent will preserve the love and respect of his children and, when they reach adulthood,
they will continue this custom with their own children. An authoritative parent will know he has done
his job well in the raising of those children, because the relationships that were built will incessantly
last. The parents who choose a benign approach will obtain the rewards of having children that will be
the ones who have a good work ethic and who succeed in school because they wish to please their
parents. The parents who choose to rule by fear will see quite dissimilar results: their children are
probable to react out of that terror, which will only last as long as they are young;

The Social Hierarchy Of The Algonquin Indians
The Algonquins were a Native American people who settled from Maine all along the east coast down
into Virginia. The Algonquin were very peaceful and docile people, when the pilgrims landed at
Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts they helped to teach them how to live off their new lands and
ultimately ensured the survival of Europeans in North America. Although there are smaller sub
sections of the Algonquin tribes, such as the Mohegans, the Pesquots, and the Narragansetts, they were
all united through a central language. The Algonquins lived in a very patriarchal society where men
ruled the homes and owned all the lands. Overall the Algonquins were the most widespread group of
Native Americans, had a very advance cultural, and a social hierarchy. ... Show more content on

Modern Accounting Systems in Modern Organizations
Modern accounting systems have become the foundation from which the modern organization can rely
and depend upon to maintain a strong efficient strategy that will help the organization grow. The
modern accounting systems embraces the old accounting practices that have been used for hundreds of
years and builds upon that platform to give modern organizations control over the finances. There
must be set in place internal controls to keep the company assets from being stolen and that is why
modern accounting systems utilizes many internal controls with the organization. The modern

Knowing exactly which accounts are being debited and which accounts are being credited is essential
to maintaining financial records and keeping the organization on the right track for success. Modern
accounting uses debits and credits through the accounting equation which is used to determine what
accounts are debited and what accounts are credited to keep a harmonious balance between the debits
and credits. The accounting equation is like the groundwork for the debits and credits and that is why
modern accounting systems utilizes the accounting equation no matter what the account may be
because the assets must always equal the liabilities, owners equity. In the modern accounting systems
each debit must have a credit to keep the balance in the accounting equation.
[At] the heart of modern financial accounting is the double entry book keeping system. This system
involves making at least two entries for every transaction: a debit in one account, and a corresponding
credit in another account. The sum of all debits should always equal the sum of all credits, providing a
simple way to check for [errors] (Sharda Gangwar, 2009).
The third way in which modern accounting systems have made a difference in modern organizations
would be with the adjusting process of accounting to maintain records that are up to date and includes
all transactions. If every transaction is completely accounted for in the financial records then the
company will not be in violation of

The X-Men Franchise
My yet to be documented feelings of the X Men franchise can best be described as mixed. I am not as
huge of a fan of the original trilogy as most people, and I actually prefer X Men Origins: Wolverine to
any of those films. I do, however, very much like this newest trilogy, of which Apocalypse is the
closing entry. (Alas, I haven t seen Deadpool ). That mixed feeling on the entire series applies to this
installment, as well, although I am leaning positive on this one. X Men Apocalypse is set 10 years
after the events of Days of Future Past (although only two years have passed in reality).
Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) has become a cult figure adored by mutants, although she has
gone off the radar. Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) has devoted his time to his students at his school
for gifted youngsters. Erik Lensherr/Magneto (Michael Fassbender) has reinvented himself, becoming
a simple industrial worker in Poland. Of course, all that changes when the titular villain (Oscar Isaac),
the original mutant who also possess godlike abilities, awakens from a millennia long slumber. The X
Men must reunite to combat this new foe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

moments. Lawrence is merely fine as Mystique. She is definitely phoning this one in, but even when

humor in abundance. Unfortunately, he isn t given much to do. Lastly, Evan Peters as Peter

Depression Effects On Depression
EFFECT OF COUNSELLING ON TREATMENT OF DEPRESSION I will be talking about one of
the silent killers of recent times known as depression. This topic is also going to consider different
types of treatment and its effects on sufferers. Furthermore, this topic would be about individual
physical, intellectual, emotional and social development (PIES). (Pies Revision. Pdf, 2016, p.5 8). To
begin with, according to World Health Organization (2017), depression is a common illness
worldwide, with more than 300 million people affected. Depression is different from usual mood
fluctuations and short lived emotional responses to challenges in everyday life. Especially when long
lasting and with moderate or severe intensity, depression may become a serious health condition. It
can cause the affected person to suffer greatly and function poorly at work, at school and in the family.
Depression can happen to anyone and many successful and famous people who seems to have
everything going for them battle with this problem. Depression also affects people of every age and
half of the people will only experience once but for the other half it will happen again. The length of
time that it takes to recover ranges from six months to a year or more. (Good Mental Health for
all,2017). Although there are different types of treatment for depression such as, Psychotherapy,

Synthetic Composites Reinforced By Unidirectional Glass...
Abstract:
This research paper intended to recognize the machinability of polyester composites reinforced by
unidirectional glass fibers when subjected to milling operations. The principle aim of this
investigation is to screen the tool rake angles, cutting process parameters and their effect on the
machined quality. It was observed from experimental results that mechanisms of machined composites
altogether influenced by fiber orientation. The results revealed that the surface roughness, surface
damage and machining forces all varies severely with fiber orientation.
Introduction:
Glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP) have been widely used in aircraft, automobile and structural
applications. The components need high quality machined surface, better dimensional accuracy and
surface consistency. But machining mechanism of composite materials is not easy to understand,
because of its inhomogeneous and anisotropic behavior. The machining leads to several damages such
as fiber cracks, delamination, fiber pullout and burning. Hence, research in machining of GFRPs is
few when compared with metals, the effect of tool nomenclature and materials [1, 2]. The
investigators have studied the machining of chip formation mechanisms [3,4 and 5]. The researcher
investigated on machinability integrity on different fiber directions with different tool helix angles [6].
The experimental studies are also based on machining characteristics related to orthogonal cutting of
unidirectional fiber

Characteristics Of Beethoven Music
Beethoven is considered both an inspiration and obstacle to aspiring symphonists of the nineteenth
century. But what exactly led people to view the great composer in this light? In the decades
surrounding 1800 there were some notable changes in the musical scene, and it was these that would
eventually help to endow Beethoven s symphonies with an even greater aura of insuperability . There
were five aspects to Beethoven s music that are worthy of consideration:
1. The growing importance of originality
2. The rise of historical awareness
3. The emergence of the musical canon
4. The rise of public culture
5. The prestige of the sublime
It was believed that Beethoven raised instrumental music to greater heights than had previously been
experienced. This was an aspect of his music that could potentially be liable for the changing view on
the understanding that the listener had, the relationship to music, the nature of art in general, and the
social function of the symphony. These points all seemed to be secondary in comparison to the power
of Beethoven s music. Dahlhaus once said that the new insight that Beethoven thrust upon the
aesthetic consciousness of his age was that a musical text, like a literary or philosophical text,
harbours a meaning which is made manifest but not entirely subsumed in its acoustic presentation that
a musical creation can exist as an art work of ideas transcending its various interpretations . This
perception that Dahlhaus had of Beethoven is

Sound In Unforgiven
Power and sound. Those are the two aspects of this film that stuck out to me while I was watching
Unforgiven. Clint Eastwood did a very good job of producing this movie. I saw power in the Sheriff
while he was attacking Bill. I saw great use of sound while Ned was getting whipped, and also the
music towards the end. Clint Eastwood did a great job showing the Sheriff s power. He did this several
times throughout the movie. However, one time I really noticed it, was when he was attacking Bill.
The Sheriff was at the top of the screen and Bill was at the bottom, looking up at the Sheriff. Then Bill
goes on to crawl through the bar and outside. This shows that in this situation, the Sheriff is more
powerful than Bill. The director made this shot so that the Sheriff would seem stronger and would
make Bill look small and weak. This is important to Bill s character because Bill could have tried to
fight back. He did not because Bill knows when to pick fights, and when to pass. It also shows that he
is able to keep cool even though the Sheriff was making fun of him. Granted, he was sick, but I think
he could have fought back if he wanted too. This type of power can also ... Show more content on

I saw two ways that sound was used very effectively. One was when Ned was getting whipped, and
another was the music at the end. In the scene where Ned was getting whipped, the camera turns away
from Ned, and looks to the people in the streets who are watching. You continue to hear the sound of
Ned getting whipped and him crying out in agony. Even though you can t see Ned, we still know what
is going on. This helps to build a bit of suspense because the audience does not know when it will stop
or even if it will. Everytime the whip was cracked, I flinched a little bit. I could not see the pain Ned
was going through, I still knew it was there because of the sound. This really makes the audience feel

The Impact Of Visible Minorities In Canada
What are visible minorities? Visible minorities are those people that are not native people or white
skined in race or non white in color. Canada is multicultural country that divides its population into
two categories; visible minorities and non visible minorities. It has been noticed that the number of
visible minorities is increasing per year in Canada (Black, 2009 p.71). The number and impact of
visible minority citizens of Canada is developing in terms of percentage of the population. Visible
minorities are also allowed to take an interest in different fields, for example social, governmental,
private limited and politics. They also have rights in all terms same as to white people. Many
immigrants from different countries based on work permit or study permit came here in canada. These
migrated immigrants have lot of opportunities to settle down , get education , and with that work is
also applicable. Canadian government had provide immigrants a special place in canada and made
rules and regultions as for canadians. That is why Canada is a multicultural society in which different
kinds of religions live together and cooperate with common language to describe each others feelings.
So, migrated people from different countries are called as visible minorites. However, visible
minorities are seen under present in the terms of political field in Canada ,but there is also some

The Struggles of the Worn Out Arthur Miller s Death of A...
From the time Arthur Miller began writing plays, till his recent death in 2005, he had never had such a
well know play as Death of a Salesman. This play was first performed in the late 1940 s. It reveals the
struggle of an old, worn out, salesman who is upset with the life that he has created. With the strain of
his past mistakes lurking in the back of his mind, Willy cannot handle the stress and begins to have
hallucinations of the past about the things he could have changed.

No one made that decision of cheating other than Willy; he can t blame it on anyone but himself.
Making that decision impacted Willy for the rest of his life. Every time he left he was so vulnerable
for wrongful choices. Another big reason I believed that lead Willy to have destruction was that he
relied too much on his children. He expected something more than they could give him. Both of his
children knew they couldn t give their dad what he wanted, which ruined their relationship.
2.) As the play ended the state of Willy and his mindset began to change. He started to relies the type
of life he had lived and the type he wanted to live. Early in his life he imagined of becoming a
successful business man. Don t say? Tell you a secret boy. Don t breathe it to a soul. Someday I ll have
my own business and I ll never have to leave home anymore (23). One who would not have to travel,
have his own office, and own a really nice suit. He foreseen all the connections he would have with
others in the business world and how they would all remember him from the success he would have.
But that idea was far from reality. No one remembered Willy in the business world he was just another
travelling worker, no big shot, someone who was soon to retire. As Willy thought about this more all
he could hope for was the success of the two good looking boys he had raised, in hope that they would

Eugenics, A New Science Of Heredity
Eugenics, a new science of heredity was first introduced in 1883, brought about to address the
budding fears and threats to the purity and fitness of the British race. A fear brought upon by events
such as the Boer War in 1899, forced Britain to question the spectrum of degeneracy within the
population and resolve the issue of bringing the British and White race back to strength, unified and
fit. Sir Francis Galton defined eugenics as the study of agencies under social control that may improve
or impair the racial qualities of future generations either physically or mentally . It was believed that

University Students. At this time, America provided a clear example of how race greatly impacted on
the eugenics movement. The United States came across a lot more racialist than Britain; the key racial
targets being the American Negro and various portions of white races emigrating from Eastern
Europe. In a much more patriotic and chauvinistic country this threatened to overwhelm the superior
white race, forcing the development of new immigration and sterilisation laws.
Britain was just as supportive in believing in the dominant White race, however was never as extreme
in it racialism. British Society was ethnically more or less homogenous and therefore it had not
experienced the considerable amount of non white emigrating people than it did in later decades. . The
movement in Britain was marked by variations on existing racial themes, instead of new
compositions. Racism figured a lot less distinctly and was of less importance to British Eugenics,
identifying the new science as primarily class based, focusing more on the biological fitness of the
different classes. Consequently, one could argue that race wasn t awfully important to the movement,
but race figured much more markedly to the eugenics movement in other countries such as the United

The Crime Of Money Laundering
1.0 Background of study
Over a long period of time, corruption has been the focal point of every government, media and
academics globally. Through money laundering, proceeds of crime can be disguised. Proceeds of
crime can simply be put as money earned from profit oriented crime. The methods used are many and
highly complicated. Corruption is one of the organised crime which is said to be primarily associated
with the laundering of proceeds through money laundering. Technological tools accord further
chances for individuals to employ money laundering as a process of cleaning up dirty money and
obscure the trail leading back to the underlying crime.
The crime of money laundering has been illustrated by many as the means of support for many crimes
and is a main threat to the economic and social security of societies. These activities have become a
global problem in the second half of the 20th century similar to the fiery increase of drug trade. The
term has been extensively acknowledged and popularly being employed globally.
Often, as it is known that the origins of criminal proceeds were from drug trafficking, many law
enforcers have now expanded their application to offences such as human trafficking, cybercrime,
illegal arms sales and smuggling. Many countries such as Malaysia, United Kingdom, Australia,
United States of America and Switzerland have given due consideration over prevention of money
laundering, especially in relation to corruption.

Systematic Observation
Systematic observation is the establishment of different ways to get information through watching and
listening to children. Systematic observation is widely used by educators because it is similar to a
routine and it could be informal. In order to get very accurate data it is necessary to determine the
purpose of the observation and be focused on it at the time of observing (McAfee Leong, 2007). It is
really important to be very realistic during these observations. Educators have to be aware of their
prejudices before starting the observations. Moreover, before starting an observation, the educator
cannot demonstrate or feel any signs of labels or stereotypes. In order to make an observation useful, it
is necessary to take out all the believes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you put all the windows together and open them you will have a complete view of the
panorama. Multiple windows are composed of source, context and method. Source refers to the
information and records obtained from people about a child. The primary sources are the child,
parents, teachers, specialists and classroom assistants. Methods of collecting information refers to how
the information is gathered. There are formal and informal methods to get data. Formal methods are
based on standardized tests like screening or achievement tests. Informal methods are based on normal
and daily classroom activities. The context refers to the concrete factors in the childrens environment.
This environment should be composed of physical space, materials, activities, people and the amount
of teachers structure. Some examples of context for assessments are daily routines, dramatic play,
classroom meetings or large groups and learning centers. An educator could base the methods he or
she is going to use on the information gathered from the sources. For example, if the teacher gathers
information about a child that is struggling with reading, the professor will find the adequate methods
to help the child read better. At the same time, the teacher can create the appropriate environment for
the child based on the information from the sources. For example, if the

During the time prior to 1877 Native American medicine continued to grow. The Native Americans
created their own system of healing. They used their beliefs and knowledge to create magnificent
forms of medicine. Native American medicine is a topic that is not broadly researched, when looked at
not much information is found but when you dig deep enough you will uncover information that is

In 1820 the Pharmacopoeia was created and in it there are fifty substances used by Native Americans.
In 1798 a doctor told people that Native Americans had important cures that worked. The first real
type of help with childbirth was adopted by Americans in the nineteenth century. These are just few
examples but the list goes on. Americans adopted a huge amount of remedies from the Native
Americans, of course over time some of these cures have been dropped or changed to a certain
extreme but the root of them are still originating from Native American tribes. Over 220 medicines
from different Native American tribes are still listed in the National Formulary. After all the
technological advances in time, our knowledge evolving, and everything else some of the cures still
are known and used today by people that are not in tribes. There is even a school program in Rough
Rock, Arizona that holds classes and programs that teach the traditional beliefs and ceremonies to
kids. Native American medicine will always be a big part of the medical field and will always have an
underlying effect on it whether people want to think so or not. It may not be a very well known topic
but it will always be a part of medicine

tale which shows the dreams come true of a young and beautiful girl named Ella, who is tortured by
her stepmother and stepsisters after her father s death. She faced many circumstances. She does not

Descriptive Essay About Cars
Most people hate car trips with family. I think car rides can be entertaining for a little bit but after
being in the car for a long time people start to get restless and irritated easily. One time my mother and
two sisters and my three friends and their mother drove down to Florida and went on a cruise to the
Bahamas. It took about seventeen hours to get to Florida. There were eight people in a cramped car for
hours on end. My mother and and her friend Becky got tickets for a four day cruise ship that leaves
from Florida to the Bahamas for about two hundreds dollars a person. We had to drive from Indiana to
Florida . We left at midnight on a cold January day so most of the car ride was spent sleeping. We left
so early because we wanted to make it to the cruse on time and have some extra time to site see. I got
to sit in the very back with Mike and Grace. My older sister Brittani, younger sister Lily and Caleb sat
in the middle row of seats. We had packed a bunch of snacks and drinks for the trip because we didn t
want to have to stop every time someone got hungry or thirsty. When everyone started waking up
people started to fight over food and being close to each other, everyone was very peevish when they
woke up. It was getting warmer in the cramped car, everyone was getting uncomfortable. On the way
down to Florida we drove through Atlanta, Georgia, where AMC filmed the first couple episodes of
the show The Walking Dead. We finally got to Florida at four in the

The Different Gypsy Communities Around the World
The Gypsy Community Introduction The Gypsy communities originated in India and gradually
migrated to Western Europe (Acton, 1997). They travelled in family groups. They associated
themselves with various professions including hawking and peddling, tinkers, street performers and
fortune tellers (Great Britain, 2004). During the early 19th century, the Gypsy communities became
more identifiable and established. During this term, the communities developed in terms of classic
technology which made the communities form distinctive caravans, which replaced tents and benders
(Acton, 1997). Although the Gypsy communities formed the most remarkable group of seasonal
travelers, they constituted only a small fraction of the casual laborers (Barany, 2002). For a very long
time, the Gypsy communities have been a marginalized group by the dominant population on the
aspects of social, political and economical (Acton, 1997). The dominant population always shows
negative social attitudes towards them. The fact that they have government approved places to settle is
making them even more segregated (Barany, 2002). A research conducted recently indicates that the
Gypsy communities are, usually in significantly health problems than other citizens of countries where
they live. The majority of the Gypsy communities live on the extreme margins of the society (Barany,
2002). They live in abject poverty and this makes them easy targets in times of trouble. There are

Cases. The legal system used in the United States is based on common law and is divided into
criminal law and civil law. The Civil law and Criminal law are two broad and separate entities of law
with separate sets of laws and punishments, but a case can be heard and handle in both courts, State

Animal Testing Is Not All Humane And Pain Free
An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the united states for scientific and commercial
testing (ProCon.org). We are rapidly using up the earth s supply of small animals. A 2011 poll of
nearly 1,000 biomedical scientists conducted by the science journal Nature found that more than 90%
agreed that the use of animals in research is essential (ProCon.org). Right now, millions of mice, rats,
rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked up in cages and are getting killed for scientific tests to
create products and medicines. Thus, animal testing is cruel and inhumane to be experimenting on
animals, there are alternative methods available to researchers to replace animal testing, and that
animals are so different from human beings that research on animals often yields irrelevant results.
First, Animals used for scientific testing is cruel and inhumane because animal s experience feelings
just like humans. What I discovered in my research is that animal testing is not all humane and pain
free as most people think. The US Department of Agriculture reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals
suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for relief (ProCon.org). If humans
receive anesthesia during surgeries, then so should the animals. These animals undergo procedures
that cause these animals to feel 100% pain. Although animal testing may seem environmentally
friendly, animals are subjected to force feeding, food and water deprivation, and the

Language Influences Child Language Development
The quality of language input influences child language development. Deaf children are unique in the
sense that they often have a different modality of language from their parents, providing a platform to
investigate the importance of language quality and onset. There are two categories of deaf children:
deaf children of deaf parents (DCDP) and deaf children of hearing parents (DCHP). DCDP are
referred to as native signers and make up 5 10% of the deaf community population (Lu, Jones,
Morgan, 2016). The language development of DCDP mimic that of hearing children in terms of onset,
rate, and patterns of development (Morgan Woll, 2002). Comparatively, DCHP make up the other 90

modality from the quality of language, on WM scores. If poor WM is due to modality, then DCDP and

greater effect on WM, then hearing children and DCDP should perform better than DCHP. Each group
was administered a battery of non verbal reasoning tasks, non verbal working memory tasks

A Doll s House, By Henrik Ibsen
A Doll House written by Henrik Ibsen is about a wife s struggle to step beyond her limited identity
that her husband and society imposed upon her (Ibsen 1257). This play dramatizes the internal
struggle women face to find their true identity instead of the one placed on them by their husbands and
society. As we look at A Doll House from a Psychological approach, we see that the Helmer household
and their friends have more conflicts than meets the eye. Each character has internal conflicts and
some are more apparent than others ( A ). Nora Helmer has different personalities depending on the
situation. In her everyday life, she chooses to show her innocent and childish side. Nora walks around
the house and asks her husband Torvald if she could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nora perfectly portrays an average wife and Torvald portrays the average controlling husband. Nora is
blind to the fact that she has been mistreated in the beginning. Towards the end of the play, Nora
begins to realize just how bad she has been treated and Torvald reveals his true colors. When Torvald
degrades Nora, this causes tension and hatred towards him for female readers. One thing he said was
Why can t you understand your place in your own home? (3.1). When Nora stands up to Torvald and
tells him that she is no longer going to be mistreated; it gives female readers the strength to stand up
for their rights. It also encourages women to not let their husbands treat them like a doll in a
dollhouse. A Doll House has more of an impact on female readers than male readers. This play talks
about the sensitive subject of women s rights and that is a big issue for many women. Male readers are
either not affected or they are angered by the things Torvald says. How Torvald acts at the end of the
play really makes people think about how bad life was back when women were just viewed as people
who cooked and cleaned. After reading the play, people might feel that we do not want to have things

society s inability to comprehend gender identity struggles, thus exposing the uselessness of gender

  • 2. Narrative Essay On Cardiac Arrest 60% Rough Draft Late in the fall of my sixteenth year, my heart stopped functioning and I went into cardiac arrest. One might think that a medical phenomenon like this is next to inconceivable, but despite the improbable conditions, I was part of the 0.1%. I was born with a rare heart condition called dextrocardia, also known as situs inversus. My heart and all of my other organs are mirrored on the opposite side of my body, so instead of having my heart on the left side of the body like the other 99.9% of the human population, it s positioned on the right side. Because of this, I ve had health problems all my life. And with health problems comes financial problems. My father left us when he found out how much money his three year old daughter was costing him between surgeries, physical therapy, and weekly examinations. That left my mother with the burden of taking care me. She went to work, did all the housework, and never once scowled, or caused anyone any trouble and was kind to everyone. However my aunt always hounded her for money and made excuses about why she was in need. My mother financially supported her, doing part time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He had been watching the few moments I had conversing with him at the support group and hoped that I could have someone to talk to. As much as he forced interaction between us, Toby and I grew together instantaneously. Doctor Gordon would walk in every few hours, checking in on us and acting out of character much like a hyper, optimistic school counselor. We spent the rest of the afternoon helping Toby settle in and playing board games as well as doing other activities to get to know each other better. After a few hours of getting used to each other, he admitted that he requested a room change to be closer to me. So he was hitting on me. I didn t mind. I was amused by the way he flirted. It was cute, but his charm got a hold of me and soon enough our feelings were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Beowulf Christian Or Pagan Essay Is Beowulf a Christian or Pagan Hero? Throughout the story of Beowulf, the great warrior does many things for many reasons. The question is, does he do these things as a Christian hero with god in mind, or does he do it as a Pagan hero, for fame and wealth. In the epic, Beowulf battles against three noteworthy monsters that had their fights detailed in more than a passing mention such as the many battles and wars that he fought in. These three monsters are Grendel, Grendel s mother, who was not named, and the Dragon. Beowulf, when contrasted with these Pagan monsters, appears Christian. However, the first question we must ask is are the monsters Pagan? To answer this question, we will look at each monster individually and find as many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grendel is described as Like a man but mightier than any man. (55) From this, we can assume that he has a humanoid shape, walks on two legs, has two arms, a head, and a torso, but is taller, stronger, and mightier than any normal man. He is not described in the text physically, but by the traits and qualities that he exhibits. One such quote says that he is bearing God s hatred, (30) and believed in his own strength, not the strength of God, whose love Grendel could not know. (10) From these two quotes alone, we can infer that Grendel is definitely not Christian, as he does not have faith in God s strength or help. From other quotes, we can further prove that he is Pagan by using examples of several Pagan qualities that Grendel shows. From the quotes So set on murder, (8) and alone, bloodthirsty, and horrible (9) we can see that he is quite bloodthirsty and murderous, both of which are more Pagan than Christian qualities. Through this information, Grendel exhibits the Pagan qualities of not believing in the strength of god, but instead believing in one s own strength. He also lusts after blood, and lives for himself making him a Pagan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. John Steinbeck s Greatest Accomplishments John Steinbeck, born in 1902 in Salinas California to John Ernst and Olive Hamilton Steinbeck, became one of the greatest American writers of his century. Growing up Steinbeck read vigorously and was fascinated by Sir Thomas Malory s Morte D Arthur. It was Malory s Morte D Arthur that influenced Steinbeck for the rest of his life. Steinbeck graduated from Salinas High School in 1919 and attended Stanford University. He took courses in science and particularly became interested in marine biology. Although he studied at Stanford for five years, Steinbeck left without a degree (Bloom). • 5. Economy And Its Impact On The Economy Essay Sometime in late 1950 s Minsky started warning about the gradual shift of the economy from a very robust financial system that was stable and with no financial crisis in the early postwar period. He had called with his analysis that gradually over time debts in the private sector would tend to build up and increasingly risky financial innovations would increase over time. He is very famous for the statement that stability itself is destabilizing. Although things seem very stable today, gradually over time that stability would build confidence in individuals to take increasingly risky positions in assets. The model that he had built explains financial crisis in the economic system. He brings up that supply of credit increases during boom and abruptly decreased during economic slowdown. It seems almost intuitive that from a standpoint of an investor the great time to invest is when economy is booming to increase his or her profitability. Lenders as the investors become increasingly optimistic about their return and they both become less sensitive to risk. But when the economy starts slowing down investors sell out their holding to not to lose more of their assets making the economy even more worse off. All of the New Deal structure that have been put in place in the economy during the great depression, drove tremendous buildup of government debt in World War II and gave a very safe asset for the private sector. This would be in a sense leverage, safe government debt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quantitative data were presented as mean and standard deviation. Pearson correlation for measuring covariance of two variables divided by the product of their standard deviations measures the strength of a linear association between two variables and is denoted by r. The Receiver Operator Characteristic (ROC) curve was used for prediction of pre eclampsia using sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and the predictive values (positive and negative). Sensitivity: probability that the test results will be positive when the disease is present (true positive rate, expressed as a percentage); Specificity: Probability that the test results will be negative when the disease is present (true negative rate, expressed as a percentage); Positive Predictive value (PPV: probability that the disease is present when the test is positive); Negative Predictive value (NPV: probability that the disease is present when the test is negative) and accuracy is the ratio of the true positive and true negative on all patients. • 7. Child Rearing Controversy There are numerous philosophies on how to raise children. Several parents adopt the concepts their own parents used, others seek advice from friends and there are those that read books about parenting. Parents come in various and diverse forms, each approaching parenting in ways as distinct as their personalities. Philosophies on child rearing can be grouped into two styles; authoritarian, authoritative parenting. These two styles are similar sounding, but have nuanced differences. Authoritarian parents hold their children to an exceedingly high level of status and success. In this style of parenting, children are expected to follow the strict rules established by the parents. Failure in following rules typically results in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using authoritative parenting style requires setting boundaries while still being able to listen and be patient with the child. Here is an example of the authoritarian parenting style: A child is caught hitting their playmate. The parent responds by grabbing the child and spanking them without any explanation of why hitting is immoral. Thus punishing the child with the same misconduct the child has committed results in mocking of the punishment behavior. Using authoritarian style requires the ability to be dominantly harsh while giving punishment without an explanation. There are abundant differences in these two styles, but the most significant discrepancy is in the end product: the children. An authoritative parent will preserve the love and respect of his children and, when they reach adulthood, they will continue this custom with their own children. An authoritative parent will know he has done his job well in the raising of those children, because the relationships that were built will incessantly last. The parents who choose a benign approach will obtain the rewards of having children that will be the ones who have a good work ethic and who succeed in school because they wish to please their parents. The parents who choose to rule by fear will see quite dissimilar results: their children are probable to react out of that terror, which will only last as long as they are young; ... Knowing exactly which accounts are being debited and which accounts are being credited is essential to maintaining financial records and keeping the organization on the right track for success. Modern accounting uses debits and credits through the accounting equation which is used to determine what accounts are debited and what accounts are credited to keep a harmonious balance between the debits and credits. The accounting equation is like the groundwork for the debits and credits and that is why modern accounting systems utilizes the accounting equation no matter what the account may be because the assets must always equal the liabilities, owners equity. In the modern accounting systems each debit must have a credit to keep the balance in the accounting equation. [At] the heart of modern financial accounting is the double entry book keeping system. I am not as huge of a fan of the original trilogy as most people, and I actually prefer X Men Origins: Wolverine to any of those films. I do, however, very much like this newest trilogy, of which Apocalypse is the closing entry. (Alas, I haven t seen Deadpool ). That mixed feeling on the entire series applies to this installment, as well, although I am leaning positive on this one. Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) has become a cult figure adored by mutants, although she has gone off the radar. Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) has devoted his time to his students at his school for gifted youngsters. Erik Lensherr/Magneto (Michael Fassbender) has reinvented himself, becoming a simple industrial worker in Poland. The principle aim of this investigation is to screen the tool rake angles, cutting process parameters and their effect on the machined quality. It was observed from experimental results that mechanisms of machined composites altogether influenced by fiber orientation. The results revealed that the surface roughness, surface damage and machining forces all varies severely with fiber orientation. Introduction: Glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP) have been widely used in aircraft, automobile and structural applications. The components need high quality machined surface, better dimensional accuracy and surface consistency. But machining mechanism of composite materials is not easy to understand, because of its inhomogeneous and anisotropic behavior. The machining leads to several damages such as fiber cracks, delamination, fiber pullout and burning. Hence, research in machining of GFRPs is few when compared with metals, the effect of tool nomenclature and materials [1, 2]. The investigators have studied the machining of chip formation mechanisms [3,4 and 5]. • 14. Characteristics Of Beethoven Music Beethoven is considered both an inspiration and obstacle to aspiring symphonists of the nineteenth century. But what exactly led people to view the great composer in this light? In the decades surrounding 1800 there were some notable changes in the musical scene, and it was these that would eventually help to endow Beethoven s symphonies with an even greater aura of insuperability . There were five aspects to Beethoven s music that are worthy of consideration: 1. The growing importance of originality 2. The rise of historical awareness 3. The emergence of the musical canon 4. The rise of public culture 5. The prestige of the sublime It was believed that Beethoven raised instrumental music to greater heights than had previously been experienced. This was an aspect of his music that could potentially be liable for the changing view on the understanding that the listener had, the relationship to music, the nature of art in general, and the social function of the symphony. These points all seemed to be secondary in comparison to the power of Beethoven s music. Dahlhaus once said that the new insight that Beethoven thrust upon the aesthetic consciousness of his age was that a musical text, like a literary or philosophical text, harbours a meaning which is made manifest but not entirely subsumed in its acoustic presentation that a musical creation can exist as an art work of ideas transcending its various interpretations . Clint Eastwood did a great job showing the Sheriff s power. He did this several times throughout the movie. However, one time I really noticed it, was when he was attacking Bill. The Sheriff was at the top of the screen and Bill was at the bottom, looking up at the Sheriff. Then Bill goes on to crawl through the bar and outside. This shows that in this situation, the Sheriff is more powerful than Bill. The director made this shot so that the Sheriff would seem stronger and would make Bill look small and weak. This is important to Bill s character because Bill could have tried to fight back. He did not because Bill knows when to pick fights, and when to pass. It also shows that he is able to keep cool even though the Sheriff was making fun of him. Granted, he was sick, but I think he could have fought back if he wanted too. This type of power can also ... • 29. Animal Testing Is Not All Humane And Pain Free An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the united states for scientific and commercial testing (ProCon.org). We are rapidly using up the earth s supply of small animals. A 2011 poll of nearly 1,000 biomedical scientists conducted by the science journal Nature found that more than 90% agreed that the use of animals in research is essential (ProCon.org). Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked up in cages and are getting killed for scientific tests to create products and medicines. Thus, animal testing is cruel and inhumane to be experimenting on animals, there are alternative methods available to researchers to replace animal testing, and that animals are so different from human beings that research on animals often yields irrelevant results. First, Animals used for scientific testing is cruel and inhumane because animal s experience feelings just like humans. What I discovered in my research is that animal testing is not all humane and pain free as most people think. The US Department of Agriculture reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for relief (ProCon.org). If humans receive anesthesia during surgeries, then so should the animals. These animals undergo procedures that cause these animals to feel 100% pain. Although animal testing may seem environmentally friendly, animals are subjected to force feeding, food and water deprivation, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Language Influences Child Language Development The quality of language input influences child language development. Deaf children are unique in the sense that they often have a different modality of language from their parents, providing a platform to investigate the importance of language quality and onset. There are two categories of deaf children: deaf children of deaf parents (DCDP) and deaf children of hearing parents (DCHP). DCDP are referred to as native signers and make up 5 10% of the deaf community population (Lu, Jones, Morgan, 2016). The language development of DCDP mimic that of hearing children in terms of onset, rate, and patterns of development (Morgan Woll, 2002). Comparatively, DCHP make up the other 90 95% of the deaf community population and are only exposed to sign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using these three groups, the researchers were able to separate the impact of auditory language modality from the quality of language, on WM scores. If poor WM is due to modality, then DCDP and DCHP would perform worse than hearing children. However, if the quality of language input has a greater effect on WM, then hearing children and DCDP should perform better than DCHP. Each group was administered a battery of non verbal reasoning tasks, non verbal working memory tasks (NVWM), and language tasks. NVWM scores were compared across groups and the relationship between language task scores and NVWM scores was investigated (Marshall et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. A Doll s House, By Henrik Ibsen A Doll House written by Henrik Ibsen is about a wife s struggle to step beyond her limited identity that her husband and society imposed upon her (Ibsen 1257). This play dramatizes the internal struggle women face to find their true identity instead of the one placed on them by their husbands and society. As we look at A Doll House from a Psychological approach, we see that the Helmer household and their friends have more conflicts than meets the eye. Each character has internal conflicts and some are more apparent than others ( A ). Nora Helmer has different personalities depending on the situation. In her everyday life, she chooses to show her innocent and childish side. Nora walks around the house and asks her husband Torvald if she could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nora perfectly portrays an average wife and Torvald portrays the average controlling husband. Nora is blind to the fact that she has been mistreated in the beginning. Towards the end of the play, Nora begins to realize just how bad she has been treated and Torvald reveals his true colors. When Torvald degrades Nora, this causes tension and hatred towards him for female readers. One thing he said was Why can t you understand your place in your own home? (3.1). When Nora stands up to Torvald and tells him that she is no longer going to be mistreated; it gives female readers the strength to stand up for their rights. It also encourages women to not let their husbands treat them like a doll in a dollhouse. A Doll House has more of an impact on female readers than male readers. This play talks about the sensitive subject of women s rights and that is a big issue for many women. Male readers are either not affected or they are angered by the things Torvald says. How Torvald acts at the end of the play really makes people think about how bad life was back when women were just viewed as people who cooked and cleaned. After reading the play, people might feel that we do not want to have things go back to the way things used to be for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Racial Identity And Gender Identity In a recent South Park episode, titles The Cissy , in order for his own personal gain to use the girls bathroom and later to receive his own bathroom, Cartman dons a pink bow on his head to become Erica. Meanwhile, Randy Marsh (as known as Lorde to most and Stan s dad) must battle with his gender identity and that of his music as women at his work are uncomfortable with sharing a bathroom with him, therefore he must receive his own against his wishes. While both Cartman s and Randy Marsh s struggles with their gender identity revolve around the use of a bathroom, through the juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and becoming transgender, the symbolism of the executive bathroom, and the final scene of Stan singing in the bathroom designated for Cissys reveal society s inability to comprehend gender identity struggles, thus exposing the uselessness of gender labeling. The juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and wearing a bow cause laughter from the audience thus revealing society s inability to comprehend the seriousness of both actions. In the beginning of the episode, the audience is shown a scene of Eric Cartman contemplating what the audience assumes is a school shooting, for he says They ve laughed at me, poked fun at me... For this guided reflection paper, I observed two classrooms, the first was Mr. M s 10th grade, 3rd period ELA class and the second was Mrs. L s 11th grade, 4th period ELA class. Both observations were done on April 9th at the same high school. The focus for this paper was the teachers and specific components of their lesson plans. Both classrooms were not only engaged in different reading materials but also in different parts of their unit plan. Mr. M s class was just beginning their unit plan on the novel The Catcher in the Rye while Mrs. L s class was finishing up their unit plan on the novel The Scarlett Letter. Both classrooms had different, specific learning goals, activities, and assessments. Mr. M s lesson was meant to introduce students to the novel The Catcher in the Rye and get them to start working on their culminating journal project. One learning goal for the lesson can be found in the AIM, How can observing our surroundings help us to understand our place in the world . One way Mr. M addressed this learning goal was through the DONOW, by having the students observe their surroundings and write about what they observed, the students become more aware of their surroundings. This not only helps them understand and connect with the main character Holden, but also helps them discover more about themselves as a person and understand their place in the world . I spoke with Mr. M after class about the lesson and he informed me that he was using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
