Respiratory Syncytial Virus
Running Head: RESPIRATORY SYNCYTIAL VIRUS
Respiratory Syncytial Virus
Breanna Kennelly
Apollo College
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) causes acute respiratory tract infection in patients of all ages
and is one of the most popular diseases of childhood. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection,
which manifests primarily as bronchiolitis and/or viral pneumonia, is the leading cause of lower
respiratory tract (LRT) infection in infants and young children. RSV is the most common cause of
bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lungs) and pneumonia in children under one
year of age in the United States. During the first year of life, most infants are infected with the
virus. Most RSV infected children encounter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
RSV is more prevalent during winter and early spring in temperate climates, although timing may
differ among locations. In most cases, healthy infants infected with RSV do not need to be
hospitalized, recovery from illness usually occurs in about one to two weeks. Adults with
compromised immune systems and premature infants and children with congenital heart and lung
defects are at a higher risk for severe disease and hospitalization (www.aapredbook.com). RSV
infection is limited to the respiratory tract. Respiratory Syncytial Virus affects the respiratory system
causing an interruption of the normal physiology of the lungs which are the main organs affected.
The lungs are a pair of cone shaped bodies that occupy the thorax. The lungs have two vital
functions air distribution and gas exchange. In addition to attending as an air distribution pathway
and gas exchange surface the components of the respiratory tract cleanse, warm and humidify
inspired air. RSV affects the lungs by inflaming the small airways and decreasing the oxygen flow
in and out, thereby affecting the capacity for normal oxygen exchange. Initial infection in young
infants or children frequently involves the LRT and most often manifests as the clinical entity of
bronchiolitis. Inoculation of the virus occurs in the URT in respiratory epithelial cells [ (Leonard
R Krilov, 2010) ]. Spread of the virus down the respiratory tract occurs by

Botox Informative Speech
Introduction: Courteney Cox and Jennifer Anistor also known as Monica and Rachel on the
show Friends, Jenny McCarthy, Lindsay Lohan, Madonna, Kim Kardashian, Simmon Cowell.
What do all these names have in common? They are all celebrities yes, but they are also all
celebrities who have used Botox. If someone thinks of a celebrity who has had botox I m sure
that Joan Rivers would be one of the first people to come to mind. Joan Rivers is of course one
of the celebrities who is not afraid to tell the world she has had many plastic surgery and Botox
experiences. Her face is actually frozen due to the amounts of times she has received these
procedures. What is Botox? Many people know that Botox is an injection used to treat muscular

Another common side affect that I also experienced was neck pain. They call this the bobble
head affect where it feels as if you cannot hold the weight of your head anymore. This causes
your neck to become very sore. 2. There are also some side affects that are not so common but
have been seen after the use of Botox. a. Botox can cause double vision, loss of bladder control,
and allergic reactions. b. Another side affect could be a headache. Which seems very ironic. Yet, it
still helps a chronic migraine (Hendrick, Nichols, Allergan). Conclusion: In conclusion, Botox is a
set of injections that are used for many reasons. Botox is seen in both cosmetic treatments and
health treatments. Botox is proven to be affective in patients who suffer with chronic migraines
more than 15 days a month. It is still in research to see if Botox is affective in patients who suffer
with chronic migraines less than 15 days a month and patients younger than 18. Botox also has
some side affects that are included in this treatment. And although one of the side affects may be a
headache, Botox has helped many people who have experienced these chronic

Discovery Of Naledi Research Paper
In the historical year of 2013, two amateur cave explorers, Rick Hunter and Steven Tucker,
discovered a primitive human like species in a cave in South Africa. After two years, Lee Berger,
a professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa was tipped off by
the cavers, who had explored the deep cave to find multiple fossils. Berger and his team soon
identified the multitude of fossils as a primitive human. This revolutionary discovery has added an
ancestor to our evolutionary tree. This specie, named naledi, has been classified into the genus,
Homo, which includes modern humans. However, due to lack of information, this specie is thought
to have three possible ages of existence. One, an early divergence of the specie Australopithecus
anamensis,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, its skull shows progressive shape, small teeth, long legs, and modern human
looking feet. The new specie was discovered in a chamber of the Rising Star cave, 30 meters
underground, in a burial site. The fossils were found unharmed and the environment had no sign
of a calamity. This leads scientists to believe that these early humans had intentionally taken
thought into the burial of their dead. Until the moment of discovery of naledi, I would have
probably said to you that it was our defining character. The idea of burial of the dead or ritualized
body disposal is something utterly uniquely human, says Berger. This idea of another people
intentionally burying its dead has left many scientists to question human identity. After all, if this
specie was found after many years proving it has been involved in burial rituals before, what
others may we find in the future. It absolutely questions what makes us human. And I don t think
we know anymore what does, Berger states. In other words, how many more secrets are out there .

Chronic Homelessness In The United States
1. PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
There are approximately 564,708 homeless people in the United States, and that number not only
includes individuals, but families and children. In fact, 36% of that number were homeless in
families, with almost 25% being children under the age of 18, according to the 2015 Annual
Homeless Assessment Report to Congress. Note that these numbers are a one night snapshot, and in
the course of a year many more people will experience homelessness. These numbers are quite
astounding to me, because we live in a nation full of opportunities for anyone seeking to have a
better life for their family. Statistics from the National Alliance to End Homelessness show that
both the number of people in poverty and the poverty rate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While they make up a small share of the homeless population, they are disproportionately costly to
society: They consume nearly 60 percent of the resources spent on emergency and transitional
shelter for adults, and they occupy hospitals and jails at high rates. (Culhane, 2010) Additionally,
this small population is very visible and thus creates the perception that most homeless are mentally
unstable.
3. SOLUTIONS TO HOMELESSNESS
Are there any feasible solutions? There are always solutions, but no silver bullet that will
magically erase the problem. The following alternatives are considered and discussed in this
section for their ability to impact the homelessness problem in America. Please note that no
initiative should expect to completely eradicate the problem, but rather should seek to have support
systems in place to assist displaced persons as soon as possible, and to shorten the duration of
displacement as much as possible.

Case Study Of Air Asia
1. Introduction
There are two types of organization, which are the profit seeking company and the non profit
seeking company. A profit seeking company is a company that seeks profit as its primary objective,
which is a complete opposite of a non profit company that focuses a goal such as helping the
community and that money is only a concern to keep the company operating. Most companies
considered business to be profit seeking, which includes the restaurant, retail stores, insurance
company and many more.
Air Asia Berhad is also known to be a profit seeking company that has been well known for gaining
profit by establishing itself as a leading low cost carrier in Asia. Air Asia Berhad was listed on the
main market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in November 2004. Since 2001, due to
pioneering the short haul low cost carrier model in ASEAN, the airline company has grown from a

USS Maine Explosion Analysis
Not until the Gulf of Tonkin Incident would a trigger to war be so scrutinized and clouded in
mystery as the destruction of the USS Maine. Over one hundred years later there is still a debate
over what caused the explosion on the Maine and ultimately led the United States to war with
Spain. The debate of the USS Maines destruction is over whether the explosion came from inside
the ship, the internal explosion theory, or came from an outside the ship, the external explosion
theory. Most of these arguments are focused on the cause of the explosion, whether a fire broke
out on board or if a perpetrator, either the Spanish or Cuban rebels caused the explosion. This
paper will mainly focus on warning but also talk about the origin of the explosion,... Show more

On top of this, there was a severe lack of dead fish in the bay area following the explosion. If an
external explosion sunk the Maine, then all the fish within 300 yards of the ship should have
been dead. However, the distinct lack of dead fish gives some, albeit not much, credence to the
idea that it was an internal explosion (Rickover 119). Along with the lack of dead fish, there is a
distinct absence of torpedo casings or mine remnants that can usually be found after these devices
have gone off. Again, like the lack of fish, this is not concrete evidence but more circumstantial that
adds a little bit more weight to the idea of an internal

Islam Project, Shah, The Empire Of The Safavid Empire
Alix Barry
C C Period 6
Islam Project, Shah Ismail of the Safavid Empire
Ismail I lived during a turbulent time in Iran s history. It was a period of political fragmentation
and decentralization [Richard C. Martin]. He was the founder of the Safavid Empire. In 1501, he
named himself the Shah, king, of the empire and proclaimed Twelver religion the official religion
of state. It took him almost over a decade to consolidate his control over all of Iran, where most of
the Persian population still practiced as Sunni. His Qizilbash military was given the task to convert
anyone on Safavid territory to Twelver Islamand the army succeeded. Ismail was a remarkable
leader when he set his mind to it, yet the Ottoman empire instigated a war against the Safavid
empire because of the increase of Shia population. Ismail was caught by surprise and the
Qizilbash were defeated. The aftermath of the battle was severe; Ismail was so embarrassed by
the defeat he became inattentive to any Qizilbash work and military affairs of state. He broke
down and started to write poems about pious Muslims and how they worship their god. The shah
died at age 36, after becoming an alcoholic, but the Safavid empire continued for over 200 years
after. The Safavid Empire was founded on the unified front of their population, their military
strength and intolerance for other beliefs but their own. Great military strength and the ability to
conquest many empires was not a very common attribute many kings had

Millennials In The Workplace By Simon Sineks
In the interview Millennials in the workplace, Simon Sineks (2016) shows his empathetic and
humorous side by describing Millennials in general. He then chooses to recognize the ones
apart of the workforce today and focus on that set of individuals. He does this by highlighting
behind the scenes as to why Millennials behave the way they do. He states his four main points
of 1 Parenting, 2 Technology, 3 Impatience, and 4 Environment (2016, time). What Simon Sinek
s states throughout the interview is totally relatable to me as a millennial due to my behaviors
and habits. So yes, I agree with his main points as to why Millennials are the way they are.
However, to add I believe that technology and environment are the two main important factors in
having children not fully develop their best possible selves. To understand this better you have to
consider the individuals who live in third world countries compared to the United States. Sineks
(2016) explains his main points using examples of any person who uses their cell phones and
social media. Many can accuse Millennials of this habit because yes, we are always on our
phones. However, this also affects children born during generation X. The two key points that stand
out the most are technology and environment. They both have a way of intertwining problems
which affect the way millennials maintain their lifestyle. My point of view of technology is that it
is very addicting. I wake up each and every morning and check my

Dredd Scott Decision Essay
INTRODUCTION United States Supreme Court case Scott v. Sanford (1857), commonly known
as the Dred Scott Case, is probably the most famous case of the nineteenth century (with the
exception possibly of Marbury v. Madison). It is one of only four cases in U. S. history that has
ever been overturned by a Constitutional amendment(overturned by the 13th and 14th
Amendments). It is also, along with Marbury, one of only two cases prior to the Civil War that
declared a federal law unconstitutional. This case may have also been one of the most, if not the
most, controversial case in American history, due simply to the fact that it dealt an explosive
opinion on an issue already prepared to erupt slavery. Thus, many scholars assert that the... Show

In April of 1846, Dred and Harriet Scott filed a suit for freedom against Irene Emerson in the
Circuit Court of St. Louis County, obviously under the jurisdiction of Missouri law. The
established legal principle of Missouri at this time regarding slavery was once free, always free
. In other words, to the Missouri courts, what Scott was doing was perfectly acceptable due to the
precedent of the Missouri case Rachael v. Walker (1837), which basically stated that if a slave
was taken by his or her master to a free state that slave was then entitled to freedom by virtue of
residence in the free state or territory [Oxford, 761]. On account of this alone, Scott and his wife
would have been freed when the case came to trial in 1847, however there was a problem of
hearsay evidence in the case and the judge declared it a mistrial. It was not until three years later
in 1850 that the court was able to correct the problem and unfalteringly sided with the Scott s and
ordered them freed, citing that once he had been in free territory, he was indirectly freed and
remained freed. By this time Mrs. Emerson had married, moved to New England with her new
husband, and left these affairs and ownership of the Scotts to her brother, John F. A. Sanford. After
Scott was declared free by the courts, Sanford sought an appeal from the Missouri Supreme Court.
In 1852 in, Scott v. Emerson, the Missouri Supreme Court reversed the decision by the lower court

Thirsting for Power

Power is defined the ability to do something or act in a particular way, especially as a faculty or
quality. Each and every person possesses some type of power over another thing. Some people are
content with not having any power whatsoever and then there are people whose entire lives
revolve around that thirst and need for power. The latter is a description of two famous people in
history, Malcolm X and Julius Caesar. Thirsting for power and wanting to much of a good thing
can be very self destructive. This thirst for power can cause people to be blinded but the reality of

However, much of the conquest was an act of aggression prompted by personal ambition (not unlike
the conquests of Alexander the Great). Fighting in the summers, he would return to Cisalpine Gaul
(northern Italy) in the winters and manipulate Roman politics through his supporters, (Kebric).
After this and many more complex events and elections Caesar would continue to plunder
neighboring territories and occupy them. This is how the rise of the Roman Empire, the strongest
and longest lasting empire began. Caesar would publicly deny his want to be idolized as a King
but acted in ways that suggested he wanted to be idolized more of a God than a Monarch. It was
this attitude and his thirst for more power, more territory that would lead his enemies to assassinate
him in 44 BC.
Caesar attended the last meeting of the Senate before his departure, held at its temporary quarters in
the portico of the theater built by Pompey the Great (the Curia, located in the Forum and the
regular meeting house of the Senate, had been badly burned and was being rebuilt). The sixty
conspirators, led by Marcus Junius Brutus, Gaius Cassius Longinus, Decimus Brutus Albinus, and

Letter Of Identification Essay
I am Sofia C. Smotek, professor of natural history. For a while now, people have been trying to
decipher cuneiform writing, and I have finally figured it out. People have been studying
cuneiform tablets and almost everyone ended up failing, but this is what I uncovered. The friged
next door could up his oxen today This is the writing that I uncovered in the tablet, however it isn
t very clear, but what I thought it meant was that a next door neighbor, friend or farmer would
come over their house and pick up his oxen that day. I am very positive about what I have
uncovered and I am glad to share it with you.
As you know, this project has taken me a very long time to decipher. The process that I used to
figure this out used a large amount of focus and patience. For all the people in history who have
failed in this project, probably didn t have enough patience or concentration to figure this out. All
of those words that I just said are a monumental part in figuring out natural history or really any
kind of history. Also, in my deciphering, the word friged is spelled incorrectly because the word

A Pair Of Silk Stockings Stereotypes
In the short story A Pair of Silk Stockings, Chopin the author shows the stereotypical female role
a lot. He shows this in the character of Mrs.Sommers. He shows this by making a big deal of
how much money she had for herself, the way she always thinks about her kids, and how she
feels when she does all the stuff for herself. He portrayed the stereotypical female and mother
role very well with Mrs. Sommers. In the story it seemed very odd that Mrs. Sommers had so
much money to herself. She was a lower class female, and fifteen dollars was a lot for that time.
Having this much cash on her gave her a feeling of importance, and higher up. She also claims
herself as an unexpected possessor of the money. She also grew very giddy on how to spend

Persuasive Speech On Horse Slaughter
Every little girl dreams of having a horse, but what do you do with that horse when he is too old
to be rode and he struggles to come in and eat his grain? Most likely you don t have the heart to put
him down yourself, and to have him euthanized costs so much, but are there any other options? Yes,
there is one more option, that is horseslaughter. Don t be afraid of it just because you hear the word
slaughter, the horses are treated well and they are put down humanely. Horse slaughteris a big
controversy in the United States, and there are many people that are against it, but I m here to tell
you why everyone should be for horse slaughter. Horse slaughter is something that is needed and
not something that is evil. Today I m going to tell you about why everyone should be for horse
slaughter and how it can help to control the horse population, help stimulate the economy and help
feed people that are starving. First, horse slaughter can help control the horse population. By taking
horses to slaughter then people can sell their unwanted, dangerous, and old horses. Now there are
many of you that might say they could also just be euthanized, but this would cost the owners a
fortune. If they sell their horse to a slaughter house, then the owner no longer has the dangerous
horse and he also made money instead of losing money. Since the United States Banned horse
slaughter then abandonment and neglect have in increased by 50% according to Alison Rowe

John Donne
John Donne is the name in English Literature who gave new direction to the literary activities of
his age. He is in a sense founded the metaphysical lyric, which was practiced by scare of writers.
As Dowden says, We are told that in the decline of the greater poetry of the Elizabethan period, a
metaphysical school arose and that John Donnewas the founder or the first eminent member of this
school. John Donne set up a new tradition in versification by and large Donne must be regarded
as an original poet, a poet who gave much more than what he borrowed from his age. The word
metaphysical has been defined by various writers differently. The learned critics feels that

Then comes a conceit which also expresses the passion of the lovers:
SHE S ALL STATES, AND ALL PRINCES I;
NOTHING ELSE IS. The most striking and famous one is the comparison of man who travels
and his beloved who stays at home to a pair of compasses in A Valediction Of Forbidding Mourning
. Here soul of the beloved is like the fixed foot of compasses as by her inborn nature she stays at
home whereas the soul of the lover is like the other foot of compasses which moves beyond the
center to complete a circle of journey.
IF THEY BE TWO, THEY ARE TWO SO
AS STIFF TWIN COMPASSES ARE TWO,
THY SOUL THE FIX FOOT, MAKES NO SHOW
TO MOVE, BUT (DOTH) IF THE OTHER DOE.
In The Relique, John Donne imagines himself lying in a grave as a skeleton with the undeniable
token of spiritual love in the sphere of his beloved s bright lock of hair forming a bracelet about his
wriste borne and because of their great love, he and his beloved will be honored like saints,
ALL WOMEN SHALL ADORE US, AND SOME MEN. Another feature is the use of colloquial
speech which marks the metaphysical poetry. In John Donne s poems, the vigor of colloquialism is
especially apparent in the abrupt, conversational opening of many of his poems. He selected
colloquial diction which has vigor, freshness and originality. He discarded literary words and
phrases which became rusty because of repetition. Another characteristic of metaphysical poetry

A Constable Calls by Seamus Heaney
The Constable Calls By Seamus Heaney A Constable Calls is the second in a sequence of six
poems entitled Singing School which concludes Heaney s fourth collection North (1975). The
poem is a vivid description of an incident from the poet s childhood a policeman making an
official visit to his father s farm at Mossbawn to record tillage returns. There is something
grotesquely bizarre about an armed representative of the law travelling by bicycle around the
Ulster countryside to record agricultural statistics. Although the incident is described through the
impressionable eyes of a child, we are also aware of the wiser presence of the adult Heaney. On a
broader level the poem accurately records the sense of resentment and alienation... Show more

The new king suppressed Saxon uprisings and introduced Norman customs and institutions into
England. The Book contained an extensive survey of the lands of England in order to establish
an informed basis for taxation. The unpopular survey was given its name because, like the
Biblical Day of Judgement, there could be no appeal against it. There is also an implied allusion
to another William, the Protestant William of Orange, also an intruder, who defeated the
Catholic King James and imposed his rule on Northern Ireland. There is an ironic hint too at
Catholic guilt in the allusion to the Domesday Book. The line Fitted his cap back with two hands
echoes the fat black handlegrips of the opening verse, emphasising the constable s lack of
humanity by linking him to his bicycle. The action also conceals the one hint of his humanity, his
slightly sweating hair . The fact that he looked at me as he said goodbye is open to several
interpretations. It could suggest the child s fear that the constable is aware of the crime that has
been committed and of his (silent) complicity in it. It could represent an attempt by the constable to
intimidate the boy. On a positive note it could indicate an (unsuccessful) attempt by the constable to
elicit a positive reaction through establishing eye contact. The word shadow implies that the
constable is not a real person, but also that he has cast a (temporary) shadow over

Trump, presidential announcement speech, June 16, 2015
During the 2016 presidential election, unauthorized immigration was at the center of the discussion
leading to the rise of a populist candidate, Donald J. Trump, who was eventually elected to the
White House by capitalizing on the fears and dissatisfaction of many Americans. It was the
criminalization of the problem with unauthorized immigration which hit a nerve with many
Americans because of the frustration with the problem, among other political issues. Many native
born Americans do not have complete knowledge and understanding of immigration laws and
policies and the bureaucracy within immigration agencies.
For that reason, an in depth analysis of Immigration Laws and Policies will be conducted in order to
investigate the root cause of the problem with the immigration system in the United States. Past and
current immigration laws in the U.S. have led to more than 11 million unauthorized immigrants in
the United States, the majority of which are from Latin American countries, with almost half of the
11 million unauthorized migrants coming from Mexico. This investigation will examine the current
state of the immigration system in the U.S.; The lack of enforcement mechanisms, backlogs, and

People Corrupt Power In George Orwell s Animal Farm And...
William Gaddis once said Power doesn t corrupt people, People corrupt power In Animal Farm
and Mouseland both of the animals who have the power take over and create corrupt and unequal
societies. This causes the societies to fall under the rules of greedy and selfish leaders. The authors
of Animal Farm and Mouseland use the narrative techniques of characterization and conflict to
illustrate messages about how power can destroy societies and take away the equality in the society.
First, in Animal Farm and Mouseland the authors use characterization to show how power can
destroy societies and can take away the equality that is in the society. For example, in Animal
Farm, George Orwell uses the pigs as a way to show the different levels of importance. It shows
how the other animals are always below the pigs. On pages 35 and 36 it states You do not
imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us
actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is
to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this had been proven by science, comrades) contain
substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. Orwell
uses the words absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig making it seem the most important
to the pigs and no other animals. This means that the pigs started to take the things they wanted and
decided they were the ones who had all of the power. This shows that the power they created could
give them more equal rights than the others. In a similar ways Tommy Douglasuses the cats to
show how the other animals are below them and the cats are the ones who have power. In
paragraph 3 of Mouseland it states A government made up of big, fat, black cats. Douglas states
fat, black, cats. characterizing the cats are lazy and useless. This means that in Mouseland there
was a society run by animals who didn t do what they needed and they were lazy. This shows that
just because of the way the cats are characterized they aren t good leaders and they have the
power. This shows that in Animal Farm and Mouseland the people in power were characterized as
greedy and selfish, but came off to the

Mississippi was smack in the middle of the Civil War fighting for the confederate cause. Some of
that heritage still lingers heavily today because the confederate flag still files at the state capital
to this very day. This symbol of a failed attempt to permanently tear the country apart has been in
the media a lot these days because of the recent shooting in South Carolina where a 21 year old
white man killed nine people in a landmark historically black church. The gunman was
represented by the confederate flag along with a couple of other flags that stood for white
supremacy. The issue of whether or not to get rid of the flag is an issue that comes up from time
to time in Mississippi, but lawmakers do not seem to want to get rid of it once and for all to end
to controversy. The University of Mississippi also used the rebel flag as their symbol for a long
time, but they finally realized a few years ago that it was too offensive to many of its students
and supporters, so they banned it from all sporting events at the college. They also decided to ban

Mallard says how seeing her husbands dead body will be upsetting, but describes him as the face
that had never looked save with love upon her (429). Her saying this depicts how she truly feels
about her marriage and thinks that her husband didn t really love her. She begins to realize the
freedom she will be able to experience now that he is gone. Mrs. Mallard says But she saw
beyond that bitter moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her
absolutely. (429). She is dreaming of the independence she can now experience and does not
want to look back. This challenges society because most women would feel threatened, alone,
and vulnerable at the thought of having no income or man, but she views it as the beginning of
her life. She would live for herself. (Chopin 429). This goes against everything her society believes.
Mrs. Mallard craves the independence she has never been able to experience because of society s
limited scope on life and marriage. Mrs. Mallard is ahead of her time which is what has made her
life so hard up until this point where she finally feels relief. She keeps saying Free! Body and soul
free! (429) which makes her seem almost delusional as if she had been dreaming of this for some
time. She dreams of Spring days, and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own.

Laurence Olivier directed and starred in it himself as a patriotic call to the barricades. Olivier
greatly aspired to become one of the greatest actors of the twentieth century. His attempt in the role
of the main character Henry was nothing short of this by delivering an epic performance in the
midst of a gay, colourful depiction of battle. Kenneth Branagh s production (1989) attempted
greater realism in the battle scenes and focused more on Henry s inner conflicts. There was not
as much emphasis on the patriotic elements of the play as in Olivier s. Branagh s film was
constructed many years after Olivier s predominant original when it was considered a classic.
Olivier created a total advance in Shakespearean film and gave dawn to colour filming. A young
Branagh would have to direct and act admirably to stand alongside the preceding version. He
would have to successfully comply as a Shakespearean actor to take the familiar and make it new .
Branagh heavily scrutinised Olivier s epic work, employing and enhancing many of the methods
Olivier inspired and developed, causing Branagh s film to be labelled sometimes as an emulation.

Evaluation Of A Clinical Trial Essay
1.3Clinical Trials A clinical trial is a prospective study comparing the effect and value of an
intervention(s) against a control in human beings (Friedman De Mets, 2010). It is an assured way
of determining whether an intervention has the hypothesized effect since researchers have control
of most of the cofounders involved in the studies. Each of the participants is followed onward in
time from a defined point in time, which is the baseline for the study. Participants are randomly
assigned to the various intervention options to create comparable intervention groups. A protocol
is one of the requirements of a properly designed trial. A protocol, which is an agreement between
the investigator, the participant and the scientific community, provides the background, objectives,
design and organization of the trial. This is a document that is prepared way before participants
are enrolled, and remains essentially unchanged unless for minor updates. Any major changes
altering the direction of the trial need to be carefully justified; a rationale behind the changes
should be clearly described. In clinical trials, an outcome is defined as a variable intended for
comparison between groups in order to assess the efficacy or harm of an intervention (Chan, 2004).
An outcome may be primary or secondary. A primary outcome, measured at the primary endpoint,
is the variable that forms the basis of the study and is predetermined by the investigator at the
design stage of the study. A

Prostitution In Scarlet Letter And The Price Of Shame
Humiliation is pervasive in society, destroying people s dignity, careers, and even lives. Both Hester
Prynne and Monica Lewinsky are subject to public humiliation from the Puritan and online
societies in which they live. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and the The Price of Shame
by Monica Lewinsky argue that humiliation can cause mental turmoil for the sinner, but differ over
whether humiliation causes regret. Both address the way humiliation causes societies to view
people two multidimensionally, but they disagree whether humiliation could ultimately cause
society to improve. Both Hawthorne and Lewinsky argue that humiliation can cause inner turmoil
in the transgressor. Hester spirals into thoughts that the whole world is against... Show more content

Despite the difference in time period, both women have dark, suicidal thoughts borne from
humiliation. The humiliation does not manifest itself as feelings of regret for Hester. As she
stands on the scaffold in the height of her public humiliation, Hester wastes no time on regret.
She simply looks down on the crowd with a haughty smile, and a glance that would not be
abashed...Those who had...expected to behold her dimmed and obscured by a disastrous cloud,
were astonished (Hawthorne 50). Hester glows in comparison to the ugly, judgemental crowd of
onlookers, which illustrates Hawthorne s suggestion that regret is a poor reaction to public
shaming. Unlike Hester, Lewinsky explicitly states that not a day goes by that I m not reminded
of my mistake, and I regret that mistake deeply (Lewinsky 2:35). Because she so deeply regrets
her mistake, Lewinsky tries to hide herself within society, instead of separating herself from the
crowd like Hester does, relishing in the scarlet A. As a result of the humiliation, both societies fixate
on the women s singular sin, no longer viewing them as multidimensional people with complex
lives and emotions. The

Everyday Life Sociology
All interpretation of our world is based on previous experiences of it both our own and others. It
is given to us when we are born to experience and interpret. The world of everyday life, or
everyday social world, is an intersubjective world that existed long before our birth, experienced
and interpreted by Others, our predecessors, as an organised world. (Schutz, 1962 1996: 208)
This world isn t a private world, it is common to all of us, and provides the scene and object of
our actions and interactions. Our everyday social world is shaped by our actions, our actions are
influenced by the environment we exist in. Understanding this world gives us a chance to view
how personal and interpersonal relationships intersect with relations of power and broader social
identities. (Robin Overholtzer, 2015). The concept of everyday life in central to humanity. People
have daily practices such as interacting, walking, working, playing; all of which influence how
individuals develop, understand and act within our world. Each day the social fabric of our society

Everyday life always takes place in and relates to the immediate environment of a person, no
matter where in the world they exist. Our everyday life depicts the ongoing reproduction and
emulation of our current society. People reproduce society by reproducing themselves and
handing down accepted social functions and expectations. When humans reproduce, they
become a representative of a world into which others are born. When I was born, my parents
taught me how to exist in our everyday world, and one day I will pass this on to my own

The Real Strategies in Shoe Manufacturing
ABSTRACT
In this paper The real strategies in shoe manufacturing we take a look at the reality of a Mexican
industry dedicated to shoe manufacturing, with the intention of showing the lack of professional
techniques that take place not only in the company studied, which affect the efficiency of the
business.
THE REAL STRATEGIES IN SHOEMANUFACTURING
Nowadays there are many different approaches and methodologies that can be used for industrial
systems optimization and analysis. Among these techniques are the ones for production and
inventory management and industrial plant distribution, which are mainly used for reducing the
company s cost. According to APICS Dictionary, production management consists of planning,

Nowadays, the company has some difficulties in completing an order because sometimes they only
use one injection machine and this affects its relationship with clients. Therefore the importance of
having a production policy, during this analysis the authors have considered a production rate of
only one machine and a EPQ model is going to be used. This model fits with the behavior of the
company because the demand remains constant, but in this case we are considering a production
rate (units produced per year).
Optimal quantities of shoes to produce
Considering a constant and uniform demand, an EPQ (1) analysis was made to determine the
optimal quantities of shoes that Zebra Shoes must produce and the maximum level of inventory
that the company must have in order to satisfy the demand.
Unitary cost = C =50 $
Annual cost for maintaining inventory = i = 15% per year
Annual cost for maintaining inventory per unit = h = ic = 7.5 $/pair year
Preparing production cost = A = 55$/order
Demand = D = 300 000 pairs/year
Production rate = P = 312000 pairs/year
Zebra Shoes must produce 10695 pairs in 13 days approximately, if not they must react in order to
avoid any delays in their deliveries.
Optimal quantities of raw materials to order

Some Keep The Sabbath Going To Church, By Emily Dickinson
In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to church there are many interpretations of the message
Emily Dickson sends out. According to the poem I keep it staying at home (line 2). There are
various meanings of this quote whether it is a deceiver of something or a statement of the truth.
Everyone can take something different from the poems of Emily Dickson and turn into something
that reflects on their life. She was truly a master writingher poems, but was it just poems or a
message. Her poems are reflections of her life experiences and so many people can relate to
these poems. It is proven in some literature authors tend to write about past life experiences that
have made their mark. Authors in a sense make aware of these life lessons for the youth so they
do not make the same mistakes the author once did. However, not all life lessons are necessarily
bad. Emily Dickson is a writer of true passion that leaves her signature on history through her
poems of life stories.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Emily speaks about how the Sabbath is celebrated with her. The Sabbath was known as the seventh
day of the creation of the earth and on that day God rested. Emily represents herself as rested when
she writes I keep it staying home (line 2). Emily tells her readers that the Sabbath should be a day
to relax and not a day of hard working. On the other hand, there is another viewpoint on this certain

Guitar Recital Essay
Guitar Recital This project was interesting to me because I really don t take the time to listen to
different types of music like classical guitar. This was my first time listening to this type of music
and it was pretty good. It showed me that there are more than a few types of music out there. The
CD I chose was the 2013 GuitarRecital by Philip Hemmo. The tracks that where on it are
Ciaconna, Introduction et Polonaise, Adagio, Caprice, Danza Mora, Julia Florida and Sevillana.
My favorite song was Adagio which homage to J. S. Bach. It was calm and was played a perfect
speed. It slowed down and sped up through the whole song. Also the volume of the guitar was quit
and loud threw the different parts of the song. It is also a very long song

The Machinery in Dracula
The machinery in Dracula becomes important to the plot as a whole, but also important to
Victorian society too. For the sake of the Empire, factories were increasing the size of Britain s
economy and cities were growing, the military was gaining strength, Britain was at the forefront of
modern technology during the time. In fact, the way technology is described and used in the
novel, it can be viewed as a subliminal compliment from Stoker about the lengths in which society
has developed in that regard. Most effectively the Crew of Light gets to utilize technology whereas
Dracula is painfully unaware of the advancements of recent sciences. Well, you know what we have
to contend against; but we, too, are not without strength...we have the resources of science (Stoker
282). The utilization of modern technology and Bram Stoker s constant reference to trains paints a
vivid image of two things. One, science has improved and is praiseworthy, and two, that Victorian
society finds itself superior partially because of the technology it possesses. The author was a very
inquisitive person consequentially the main characters all seem to share a fascination with modern
machinery. As the economy developed under Queen Victoria s rule, trade ships ended up becoming
navies, and towns became thriving cities. Even in communication with each other they used a
phonograph, a recording device. This expanse of growth due to modern technology kept England
ahead of other countries, and so society

Analysis Of The Basque-American Indian Pidgin
The Basque American Indian pidgin found in the north eastern part of North America was first
documented in the early seventeenth century. Although it is believed to have first been used in the
sixteenth century, this was the first time that there was recorded documentation of someone
experiencing the pidgin. The pidgin was created between the Basque peopleof Spainand France and
the American Indian people of North America. The pidgin is believed to be composed from a lot
of Basque words and influence and the different languages the native people spoke. The native
people spoke variations of the Algonquian language, and their influence is also seen in the pidgin.
The pidgin was mostly spoken between the Basque people and the native people, although the
native people also used it when speaking to visiting Frenchmen. The Basque people were mostly
seafarers and sheepherders, while the native people were mostly hunters and farmers. When these
the two groups met it was usually to conduct trade of some sort. The Basque American Indian
pidgin was a pidgin used to help the Basque people and the native people to communicate. Before
going into the linguistic portion of the analysis, we need to talk about the pidgin itself and how it
came to be. That is; what the superstrate and the substrate of the pidgin are. Based on my analysis
of the phonology, morphology, and lexicon I have come to the conclusion that the superstrate of the
pidgin was the Basque language. This

Pros And Cons Of Railway Transport
Nowadays, railways transports have become very convenience for industrial sector and consumer

Rail track can be known as the railroad or railway, is the permanent way for the train. The track

Women And Men In Conversation By Deborah Tannen
From You just don t understand: Women and men in conversation , Deborah Tannen shows the
gender differences in conversation. The main idea is that women value relationship and empathy
within a group, while men are struggling to raise their status and class. According to Deborah
Tannen, this affects how they think and speak. Generally, men talk more in a public situation, while
women talk more in private settings. Most women tend to use rapport talk for conversation, a way
of establishing connections and negotiating relationships, whereas most men tend to use report talk,
a way of preserving independence and maintain status in hierarchical social order (Deborah Tannen,
You just don t understand: Women and men in conversation) There are different understandings
between genderabout what conversation is for. To him, talk is information, which is used to inform
what he needs to know or what he wants other to know. To her, however, talk is for interaction, a
way to show involvement, whereas listening is a way of caring. Therefore, in public events, men
are more comfortable to claim attention with this understanding of talking.... Show more content on

Due to the different ways of expressing politeness and conversational involvement, they may have
trouble communicating even if they share the same language. The two cultures approach proposes
that talk between women and men is fraught with potential misunderstanding for much the same
reasons that communication across the ethnic groups is (Mary Crawford, Talking Difference On
Gender and Language, 1995). Hence, I agree with the point of view of Deborah Tannen. However,
You just don t understand: Women and men in conversation does not inform readers about the
reasons and the consequences of the communication differences between genders. Therefore, this

Kohlberg s Theory Of Moral Development
Lawrence Kohlberg (1927 1987) further developed the works of Piaget (1896 1980) in regards to
moral development. This essay will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Kohlberg s theory in
a critical manner, looking at the positive aspects of his research and the disadvantages of the types
of situations he gave in his experiments, the universal accuracy of his results and the controversial
findings of sex differences in regards to morality. Kohlberg advanced Piaget s theory of moral
development and interviewed 10 13 year old boys to find out how they would attempt to resolve
moral issues. These issues varied between situations that involved obeying the law, authority figure
or rule and ones that would conflict these rules in order to serve a human need. From the answers
that were given Kohlberg devised three levels, each split up into two stages, that he believed were
universally found and that every person went through to advance their levels of morality (Shaffer
Kipp, 2007).
One of the major advantages of using Kohlberg s theory of moral development over Piaget s is the
universal nature of the findings. Colby Kohlberg, (1987) found a strong positive correlation
between age and maturity levels of moral reasoning in the United States, Mexico, the Bahamas,
Taiwan, Turkey, Honduras, India, Nigeria and Kenya. This research support does indeed suggest
that Kohlberg was right about the stages of moral reasoning being universal (Shaffer Kipp, 2007).
Although the universal

A Career As An Elementary Teacher
Do you remember your elementary days? Playing outside, building creative fun toys out of big
blocks. Maybe even doing something with blocks and learning how to do math. Working with
children bring a smile to my face. I volunteer for Edgerton Elementary School during second
semester for school to earn my volunteering hours in. Throughout my whole day of schoolI look
forwards to going and volunteering with the first grade class I work with. As stated in an article
is states A career as an elementary school teacher is a good choice for people who value early
childhood educationand are interested in teaching a broad range of academic subjects. (Gill) Being
an elementary teacher has always been a dream of mines here s a job description, education needed
and some obstacles that a elementary teacher would have to go through.
Being an elementary teacher means being able to personally grown a connection with your
students. Elementary teachers teach the same students the entire year but they teach a variety of
subjects. Such as math, reading, writing, social studies, and even science. One good thing about
being an elementary teacher is you are able to make the children s schedule as you want and being
to keep them interested in school. Having to make lesson plans and activities may seem like a lot
and may even seem stressful, but you have the ability to have the childrens enjoy it. The lesson
plans can be fun, interesting and even creative. You can have you own twist on everything

Dancing As A World That Did Not Know Dancing Essay
Can you image a world that did not know dancing? When I asked this question to my friends, one of
them answered, how can we have fun without dancing? People dance when they feel comfortable,
and they also can dance when having fun because people, as human beings, have known
instinctively that dancing with rhythm makes them happy. It is interesting that people all already
know how to dance. However, we might not have an idea why people know how to dance, and
where the pleasant feelings that you can get due to dance came from. Without a doubt, dancing
was fundamentally not made in the 21st century. It was made and built by ancient people before
the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable
physical artifacts such as stone tools, hunting implements, or cave paintings ( Champion and
Thomas, 2). People have danced to pray and communicate with god, and these dances also have
been an important part of ceremonies, rituals, celebrations, and entertainment. Even though time
passed since dancing began, dance is always about communication among people, and they are
required several kinds of dance style to show their expression. One of the dances which people
have handed down from the ancient times is folk dance. Folk dance is a form of dance developed
by a group of people that reflects the traditional life of the people of a certain country or region.
Besides, folk dances, unlike most other dance forms, tend to have stringent rules,

  • 2. Respiratory Syncytial Virus Running Head: RESPIRATORY SYNCYTIAL VIRUS Respiratory Syncytial Virus Breanna Kennelly Apollo College Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) causes acute respiratory tract infection in patients of all ages and is one of the most popular diseases of childhood. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection, which manifests primarily as bronchiolitis and/or viral pneumonia, is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract (LRT) infection in infants and young children. RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lungs) and pneumonia in children under one year of age in the United States. During the first year of life, most infants are infected with the virus. Most RSV infected children encounter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... RSV is more prevalent during winter and early spring in temperate climates, although timing may differ among locations. In most cases, healthy infants infected with RSV do not need to be hospitalized, recovery from illness usually occurs in about one to two weeks. Adults with compromised immune systems and premature infants and children with congenital heart and lung defects are at a higher risk for severe disease and hospitalization (www.aapredbook.com). RSV infection is limited to the respiratory tract. Respiratory Syncytial Virus affects the respiratory system causing an interruption of the normal physiology of the lungs which are the main organs affected. The lungs are a pair of cone shaped bodies that occupy the thorax. The lungs have two vital functions air distribution and gas exchange. In addition to attending as an air distribution pathway and gas exchange surface the components of the respiratory tract cleanse, warm and humidify inspired air. RSV affects the lungs by inflaming the small airways and decreasing the oxygen flow in and out, thereby affecting the capacity for normal oxygen exchange. Initial infection in young infants or children frequently involves the LRT and most often manifests as the clinical entity of bronchiolitis. Inoculation of the virus occurs in the URT in respiratory epithelial cells [ (Leonard R Krilov, 2010) ]. Spread of the virus down the respiratory tract occurs by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Botox Informative Speech Introduction: Courteney Cox and Jennifer Anistor also known as Monica and Rachel on the show Friends, Jenny McCarthy, Lindsay Lohan, Madonna, Kim Kardashian, Simmon Cowell. What do all these names have in common? They are all celebrities yes, but they are also all celebrities who have used Botox. If someone thinks of a celebrity who has had botox I m sure that Joan Rivers would be one of the first people to come to mind. Joan Rivers is of course one of the celebrities who is not afraid to tell the world she has had many plastic surgery and Botox experiences. Her face is actually frozen due to the amounts of times she has received these procedures. What is Botox? Many people know that Botox is an injection used to treat muscular conditions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another common side affect that I also experienced was neck pain. They call this the bobble head affect where it feels as if you cannot hold the weight of your head anymore. This causes your neck to become very sore. 2. There are also some side affects that are not so common but have been seen after the use of Botox. a. Botox can cause double vision, loss of bladder control, and allergic reactions. b. Another side affect could be a headache. Which seems very ironic. Yet, it still helps a chronic migraine (Hendrick, Nichols, Allergan). Conclusion: In conclusion, Botox is a set of injections that are used for many reasons. Botox is seen in both cosmetic treatments and health treatments. Botox is proven to be affective in patients who suffer with chronic migraines more than 15 days a month. It is still in research to see if Botox is affective in patients who suffer with chronic migraines less than 15 days a month and patients younger than 18. Botox also has some side affects that are included in this treatment. And although one of the side affects may be a headache, Botox has helped many people who have experienced these chronic ... • 4. Discovery Of Naledi Research Paper In the historical year of 2013, two amateur cave explorers, Rick Hunter and Steven Tucker, discovered a primitive human like species in a cave in South Africa. After two years, Lee Berger, a professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa was tipped off by the cavers, who had explored the deep cave to find multiple fossils. Berger and his team soon identified the multitude of fossils as a primitive human. This revolutionary discovery has added an ancestor to our evolutionary tree. This specie, named naledi, has been classified into the genus, Homo, which includes modern humans. However, due to lack of information, this specie is thought to have three possible ages of existence. One, an early divergence of the specie Australopithecus anamensis,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, its skull shows progressive shape, small teeth, long legs, and modern human looking feet. The new specie was discovered in a chamber of the Rising Star cave, 30 meters underground, in a burial site. The fossils were found unharmed and the environment had no sign of a calamity. This leads scientists to believe that these early humans had intentionally taken thought into the burial of their dead. Until the moment of discovery of naledi, I would have probably said to you that it was our defining character. The idea of burial of the dead or ritualized body disposal is something utterly uniquely human, says Berger. This idea of another people intentionally burying its dead has left many scientists to question human identity. After all, if this specie was found after many years proving it has been involved in burial rituals before, what others may we find in the future. It absolutely questions what makes us human. And I don t think we know anymore what does, Berger states. In other words, how many more secrets are out there . . . just waiting to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Chronic Homelessness In The United States 1. PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION There are approximately 564,708 homeless people in the United States, and that number not only includes individuals, but families and children. In fact, 36% of that number were homeless in families, with almost 25% being children under the age of 18, according to the 2015 Annual Homeless Assessment Report to Congress. Note that these numbers are a one night snapshot, and in the course of a year many more people will experience homelessness. These numbers are quite astounding to me, because we live in a nation full of opportunities for anyone seeking to have a better life for their family. Statistics from the National Alliance to End Homelessness show that both the number of people in poverty and the poverty rate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While they make up a small share of the homeless population, they are disproportionately costly to society: They consume nearly 60 percent of the resources spent on emergency and transitional shelter for adults, and they occupy hospitals and jails at high rates. (Culhane, 2010) Additionally, this small population is very visible and thus creates the perception that most homeless are mentally unstable. 3. SOLUTIONS TO HOMELESSNESS Are there any feasible solutions? There are always solutions, but no silver bullet that will magically erase the problem. The following alternatives are considered and discussed in this section for their ability to impact the homelessness problem in America. Please note that no initiative should expect to completely eradicate the problem, but rather should seek to have support systems in place to assist displaced persons as soon as possible, and to shorten the duration of displacement as much as possible. пЂHousing First provide immediate temporary housing first to give stability prior to addressing other concerns пЂDoubling Up a homeless family moves in with friends or ... A profit seeking company is a company that seeks profit as its primary objective, which is a complete opposite of a non profit company that focuses a goal such as helping the community and that money is only a concern to keep the company operating. Most companies considered business to be profit seeking, which includes the restaurant, retail stores, insurance company and many more. Air Asia Berhad is also known to be a profit seeking company that has been well known for gaining profit by establishing itself as a leading low cost carrier in Asia. Air Asia Berhad was listed on the main market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in November 2004. • 7. USS Maine Explosion Analysis Not until the Gulf of Tonkin Incident would a trigger to war be so scrutinized and clouded in mystery as the destruction of the USS Maine. Over one hundred years later there is still a debate over what caused the explosion on the Maine and ultimately led the United States to war with Spain. The debate of the USS Maines destruction is over whether the explosion came from inside the ship, the internal explosion theory, or came from an outside the ship, the external explosion theory. Most of these arguments are focused on the cause of the explosion, whether a fire broke out on board or if a perpetrator, either the Spanish or Cuban rebels caused the explosion. This paper will mainly focus on warning but also talk about the origin of the explosion,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On top of this, there was a severe lack of dead fish in the bay area following the explosion. If an external explosion sunk the Maine, then all the fish within 300 yards of the ship should have been dead. However, the distinct lack of dead fish gives some, albeit not much, credence to the idea that it was an internal explosion (Rickover 119). Along with the lack of dead fish, there is a distinct absence of torpedo casings or mine remnants that can usually be found after these devices have gone off. Again, like the lack of fish, this is not concrete evidence but more circumstantial that adds a little bit more weight to the idea of an internal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Islam Project, Shah, The Empire Of The Safavid Empire Alix Barry C C Period 6 Islam Project, Shah Ismail of the Safavid Empire Ismail I lived during a turbulent time in Iran s history. It was a period of political fragmentation and decentralization [Richard C. Martin]. He was the founder of the Safavid Empire. In 1501, he named himself the Shah, king, of the empire and proclaimed Twelver religion the official religion of state. It took him almost over a decade to consolidate his control over all of Iran, where most of the Persian population still practiced as Sunni. His Qizilbash military was given the task to convert anyone on Safavid territory to Twelver Islamand the army succeeded. Ismail was a remarkable leader when he set his mind to it, yet the Ottoman empire instigated a war against the Safavid empire because of the increase of Shia population. Ismail was caught by surprise and the Qizilbash were defeated. The aftermath of the battle was severe; Ismail was so embarrassed by the defeat he became inattentive to any Qizilbash work and military affairs of state. He broke down and started to write poems about pious Muslims and how they worship their god. The shah died at age 36, after becoming an alcoholic, but the Safavid empire continued for over 200 years after. The Safavid Empire was founded on the unified front of their population, their military strength and intolerance for other beliefs but their own. Great military strength and the ability to conquest many empires was not a very common attribute many kings had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This large number of cameos helped Minaj impact the world forever in October of 2010 when she set a record for having the most songs simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 for no fewer than seven entries. Pink Friday followed quickly right behind Minaj s breakout success, hitting shelves in November of 2010 to great excitement. People generally agreed that the album was a solid, if not overwhelming, first appearance. Writing for Rolling Stone, Rob Sheffield noted that there s nothing as weird or striking as her Monster feature, even as Entertainment Weekly s Brad Wete supported tracks such as Moment 4 Life that showcase her skill for melody while bragging telling a story her struggles be they professional or intimate ones of love and hurt. He then chooses to recognize the ones apart of the workforce today and focus on that set of individuals. He does this by highlighting behind the scenes as to why Millennials behave the way they do. He states his four main points of 1 Parenting, 2 Technology, 3 Impatience, and 4 Environment (2016, time). What Simon Sinek s states throughout the interview is totally relatable to me as a millennial due to my behaviors and habits. So yes, I agree with his main points as to why Millennials are the way they are. However, to add I believe that technology and environment are the two main important factors in having children not fully develop their best possible selves. To understand this better you have to consider the individuals who live in third world countries compared to the United States. Sineks (2016) explains his main points using examples of any person who uses their cell phones and social media. Many can accuse Millennials of this habit because yes, we are always on our phones. However, this also affects children born during generation X. The two key points that stand out the most are technology and environment. They both have a way of intertwining problems which affect the way millennials maintain their lifestyle. My point of view of technology is that it is very addicting. • 14. Dredd Scott Decision Essay INTRODUCTION United States Supreme Court case Scott v. Sanford (1857), commonly known as the Dred Scott Case, is probably the most famous case of the nineteenth century (with the exception possibly of Marbury v. Madison). It is one of only four cases in U. S. history that has ever been overturned by a Constitutional amendment(overturned by the 13th and 14th Amendments). It is also, along with Marbury, one of only two cases prior to the Civil War that declared a federal law unconstitutional. This case may have also been one of the most, if not the most, controversial case in American history, due simply to the fact that it dealt an explosive opinion on an issue already prepared to erupt slavery. Thus, many scholars assert that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In April of 1846, Dred and Harriet Scott filed a suit for freedom against Irene Emerson in the Circuit Court of St. Louis County, obviously under the jurisdiction of Missouri law. The established legal principle of Missouri at this time regarding slavery was once free, always free . In other words, to the Missouri courts, what Scott was doing was perfectly acceptable due to the precedent of the Missouri case Rachael v. Walker (1837), which basically stated that if a slave was taken by his or her master to a free state that slave was then entitled to freedom by virtue of residence in the free state or territory [Oxford, 761]. On account of this alone, Scott and his wife would have been freed when the case came to trial in 1847, however there was a problem of hearsay evidence in the case and the judge declared it a mistrial. It was not until three years later in 1850 that the court was able to correct the problem and unfalteringly sided with the Scott s and ordered them freed, citing that once he had been in free territory, he was indirectly freed and remained freed. By this time Mrs. Emerson had married, moved to New England with her new husband, and left these affairs and ownership of the Scotts to her brother, John F. A. Sanford. After Scott was declared free by the courts, Sanford sought an appeal from the Missouri Supreme Court. In 1852 in, Scott v. Emerson, the Missouri Supreme Court reversed the decision by the lower court seeing this case now not as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The latter is a description of two famous people in history, Malcolm X and Julius Caesar. Thirsting for power and wanting to much of a good thing can be very self destructive. Fighting in the summers, he would return to Cisalpine Gaul (northern Italy) in the winters and manipulate Roman politics through his supporters, (Kebric). After this and many more complex events and elections Caesar would continue to plunder neighboring territories and occupy them. This is how the rise of the Roman Empire, the strongest and longest lasting empire began. Caesar would publicly deny his want to be idolized as a King but acted in ways that suggested he wanted to be idolized more of a God than a Monarch. It was this attitude and his thirst for more power, more territory that would lead his enemies to assassinate him in 44 BC. Caesar attended the last meeting of the Senate before his departure, held at its temporary quarters in the portico of the theater built by Pompey the Great (the Curia, located in the Forum and the regular meeting house of the Senate, had been badly burned and was being rebuilt). Horse slaughter is something that is needed and not something that is evil. Today I m going to tell you about why everyone should be for horse slaughter and how it can help to control the horse population, help stimulate the economy and help feed people that are starving. First, horse slaughter can help control the horse population. By taking horses to slaughter then people can sell their unwanted, dangerous, and old horses. Now there are many of you that might say they could also just be euthanized, but this would cost the owners a fortune. Then comes a conceit which also expresses the passion of the lovers: SHE S ALL STATES, AND ALL PRINCES I; NOTHING ELSE IS. The most striking and famous one is the comparison of man who travels and his beloved who stays at home to a pair of compasses in A Valediction Of Forbidding Mourning . Here soul of the beloved is like the fixed foot of compasses as by her inborn nature she stays at home whereas the soul of the lover is like the other foot of compasses which moves beyond the center to complete a circle of journey. IF THEY BE TWO, THEY ARE TWO SO AS STIFF TWIN COMPASSES ARE TWO, THY SOUL THE FIX FOOT, MAKES NO SHOW TO MOVE, BUT (DOTH) IF THE OTHER DOE. Another feature is the use of colloquial speech which marks the metaphysical poetry. In John Donne s poems, the vigor of colloquialism is especially apparent in the abrupt, conversational opening of many of his poems. He selected colloquial diction which has vigor, freshness and originality. He discarded literary words and phrases which became rusty because of repetition. There is something grotesquely bizarre about an armed representative of the law travelling by bicycle around the Ulster countryside to record agricultural statistics. The Book contained an extensive survey of the lands of England in order to establish an informed basis for taxation. There is also an implied allusion to another William, the Protestant William of Orange, also an intruder, who defeated the Catholic King James and imposed his rule on Northern Ireland. There is an ironic hint too at Catholic guilt in the allusion to the Domesday Book. The line Fitted his cap back with two hands echoes the fat black handlegrips of the opening verse, emphasising the constable s lack of humanity by linking him to his bicycle. The action also conceals the one hint of his humanity, his slightly sweating hair . The fact that he looked at me as he said goodbye is open to several interpretations. It could suggest the child s fear that the constable is aware of the crime that has been committed and of his (silent) complicity in it. It could represent an attempt by the constable to intimidate the boy. William Gaddis once said Power doesn t corrupt people, People corrupt power In Animal Farm and Mouseland both of the animals who have the power take over and create corrupt and unequal societies. This causes the societies to fall under the rules of greedy and selfish leaders. The authors of Animal Farm and Mouseland use the narrative techniques of characterization and conflict to illustrate messages about how power can destroy societies and take away the equality in the society. First, in Animal Farm and Mouseland the authors use characterization to show how power can destroy societies and can take away the equality that is in the society. For example, in Animal Farm, George Orwell uses the pigs as a way to show the different levels of importance. It shows how the other animals are always below the pigs. On pages 35 and 36 it states You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this had been proven by science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. Orwell uses the words absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig making it seem the most important to the pigs and no other animals. This means that the pigs started to take the things they wanted and decided they were the ones who had all of the power. This shows that the power they created could give them more equal rights than the others. In a similar ways Tommy Douglasuses the cats to show how the other animals are below them and the cats are the ones who have power. In paragraph 3 of Mouseland it states A government made up of big, fat, black cats. Douglas states fat, black, cats. characterizing the cats are lazy and useless. This means that in Mouseland there was a society run by animals who didn t do what they needed and they were lazy. This shows that just because of the way the cats are characterized they aren t good leaders and they have the power. Many times, when people think of Mississippi, they look down on this state because it has a negative image in the past. It is true that a part of Mississippi s history is filled with violence, hate, and shame. At one time, Mississippi was a hub for slavery, then segregation, and then racism, and not all of those issues have been fully resolved to this day in 2015, but the state of Mississippi has come a long way since then. Mississippi may not be the most progressive state in the United States, but we have come a long way since then, and as time passes we are learning to grow. We are getting better with the way we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mississippi was smack in the middle of the Civil War fighting for the confederate cause. Some of that heritage still lingers heavily today because the confederate flag still files at the state capital to this very day. This symbol of a failed attempt to permanently tear the country apart has been in the media a lot these days because of the recent shooting in South Carolina where a 21 year old white man killed nine people in a landmark historically black church. The gunman was represented by the confederate flag along with a couple of other flags that stood for white supremacy. The issue of whether or not to get rid of the flag is an issue that comes up from time to time in Mississippi, but lawmakers do not seem to want to get rid of it once and for all to end to controversy. The University of Mississippi also used the rebel flag as their symbol for a long time, but they finally realized a few years ago that it was too offensive to many of its students and supporters, so they banned it from all sporting events at the college. They also decided to ban colonel reb who was their mascot because he represented an image that made many people felt like was the image of a white southern plantation owner and slave owner even though many people from Mississippi and Ole Miss fans said he only represented what it is to be a southern gentleman from ... As the story goes on, it becomes more apparent that Mrs. Mallard is not so heart broken about the death of her husband. Why would a woman in 1894 be happy about news of her husbandpassing away? He was her source of income and the community would pity her for losing her husband. Her saying this depicts how she truly feels about her marriage and thinks that her husband didn t really love her. She begins to realize the freedom she will be able to experience now that he is gone. Mrs. Mallard says But she saw beyond that bitter moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely. (429). She is dreaming of the independence she can now experience and does not want to look back. This challenges society because most women would feel threatened, alone, and vulnerable at the thought of having no income or man, but she views it as the beginning of her life. She would live for herself. (Chopin 429). This goes against everything her society believes. Mrs. Mallard craves the independence she has never been able to experience because of society s limited scope on life and marriage. Mrs. Mallard is ahead of her time which is what has made her life so hard up until this point where she finally feels relief. She keeps saying Free! Body and soul free! Olivier greatly aspired to become one of the greatest actors of the twentieth century. Kenneth Branagh s production (1989) attempted greater realism in the battle scenes and focused more on Henry s inner conflicts. There was not as much emphasis on the patriotic elements of the play as in Olivier s. Branagh s film was constructed many years after Olivier s predominant original when it was considered a classic. • 37. Evaluation Of A Clinical Trial Essay 1.3Clinical Trials A clinical trial is a prospective study comparing the effect and value of an intervention(s) against a control in human beings (Friedman De Mets, 2010). It is an assured way of determining whether an intervention has the hypothesized effect since researchers have control of most of the cofounders involved in the studies. Each of the participants is followed onward in time from a defined point in time, which is the baseline for the study. Participants are randomly assigned to the various intervention options to create comparable intervention groups. A protocol is one of the requirements of a properly designed trial. A protocol, which is an agreement between the investigator, the participant and the scientific community, provides the background, objectives, design and organization of the trial. This is a document that is prepared way before participants are enrolled, and remains essentially unchanged unless for minor updates. Any major changes altering the direction of the trial need to be carefully justified; a rationale behind the changes should be clearly described. In clinical trials, an outcome is defined as a variable intended for comparison between groups in order to assess the efficacy or harm of an intervention (Chan, 2004). An outcome may be primary or secondary. A primary outcome, measured at the primary endpoint, is the variable that forms the basis of the study and is predetermined by the investigator at the design stage of the study. A ... For the sake of the Empire, factories were increasing the size of Britain s economy and cities were growing, the military was gaining strength, Britain was at the forefront of modern technology during the time. In fact, the way technology is described and used in the novel, it can be viewed as a subliminal compliment from Stoker about the lengths in which society has developed in that regard. Most effectively the Crew of Light gets to utilize technology whereas Dracula is painfully unaware of the advancements of recent sciences. Well, you know what we have to contend against; but we, too, are not without strength...we have the resources of science (Stoker 282). The utilization of modern technology and Bram Stoker s constant reference to trains paints a vivid image of two things. One, science has improved and is praiseworthy, and two, that Victorian society finds itself superior partially because of the technology it possesses. The author was a very inquisitive person consequentially the main characters all seem to share a fascination with modern machinery. The main idea is that women value relationship and empathy within a group, while men are struggling to raise their status and class. Most women tend to use rapport talk for conversation, a way of establishing connections and negotiating relationships, whereas most men tend to use report talk, a way of preserving independence and maintain status in hierarchical social order (Deborah Tannen, You just don t understand: Women and men in conversation) There are different understandings between genderabout what conversation is for. • 50. Kohlberg s Theory Of Moral Development Lawrence Kohlberg (1927 1987) further developed the works of Piaget (1896 1980) in regards to moral development. This essay will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Kohlberg s theory in a critical manner, looking at the positive aspects of his research and the disadvantages of the types of situations he gave in his experiments, the universal accuracy of his results and the controversial findings of sex differences in regards to morality. Kohlberg advanced Piaget s theory of moral development and interviewed 10 13 year old boys to find out how they would attempt to resolve moral issues. These issues varied between situations that involved obeying the law, authority figure or rule and ones that would conflict these rules in order to serve a human need. From the answers that were given Kohlberg devised three levels, each split up into two stages, that he believed were universally found and that every person went through to advance their levels of morality (Shaffer Kipp, 2007). One of the major advantages of using Kohlberg s theory of moral development over Piaget s is the universal nature of the findings. Colby Kohlberg, (1987) found a strong positive correlation between age and maturity levels of moral reasoning in the United States, Mexico, the Bahamas, Taiwan, Turkey, Honduras, India, Nigeria and Kenya. This research support does indeed suggest that Kohlberg was right about the stages of moral reasoning being universal (Shaffer Kipp, 2007). Although the universal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
