My Core Philosophy And It s Ongoing Development
In formulating this essay I will give a descriptive account of my core philosophy and it s ongoing
development. I will evidence my way of working in context to counselling theory, relating this to the
course s guidelines. Giving reflections on personal, intrinsic values and beliefs, their application in
practice within a placement setting.
There are many emerging influences that shape both my professional and personal development as
a practitioner. Accessing a vast array of life experiences, contributes richly to the evolution of my
individual approach. Aptly noted as Counsellors and therapists are influenced by their own
experience or story as they develop or adopt their theoretical stance (Milner and Palmer, 2001, P.
17)). Ongoing instruction at college and engagement with fellow students continue to prompt
further learning, allowing for openness and shared knowledge. This facilitates an atmosphere of
mutual exchange which often flows spontaneously. In addition personal research undertaken
around theoretical subject matter expands and enhances understanding. Attending training and
workshops in Transactional Analysis, Emotion Focused Therapy, Neurobiology of Anxiety and
Trauma and Seren work with the survivors of sexual abuse, have promoted exploration,
development and growth. Discovering scientific aspects of neurobiology and its positive affects,
affirm the effectiveness of the therapeutic engagement in counselling. Details consolidating these
findings are described

What Are The Characteristics Of The Second Beast
The second beast And behold, another beast, a second one, resembling a bear. And it was raised
up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth; and thus they said to it, Arise,
devour much meat! Characteristics of the beast. Regarding the second beast, we should
consider the following: The beast resembled a bear that is it looked like a bear and it had the
character of a bear. It was raised up on one side. Three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth. It
was commanded to arise and devour much meat. A second one, resembling a bear That is, after
the lion had disappeared. The bear was a well known animal found in Media, a mountainous,
cold and rough country, covered with woods. Its character is very much different from the lion
or any other animal for that matter. There must have been a very good reason why the bear was
chosen to represent the second kingdom the one that would succeed the lion kingdom.
Bochart[4] says the bear is distinguished mainly for two things, that is its cunningness and its
ferocity. Aristotle[5] said that the bear is a greedy, silly and foolhardy animal. In Hosea 13:8
God said to Israel: I will encounter them like a bear robbed of her cubs, and I will tear open their
chests. Writers on the natures of beasts say that none is more savage than a she bear, when
bereaved of her whelps [Jerome].[6] Another example of the bear s character is found in 2 Sa.
17:8 You know that your father and his men are mighty men, and that they are enraged, like a
bear robbed of her cubs in the field. According to the great King Solomon, there is only one thing
worse than a bear Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs rather than a fool in his folly (Pro.
17:12). The characteristics of the second kingdom, therefore, would be things such as ferocity,
roughness, fierceness in war, especially when provoked. One would expect to find that its actions
would be less noble than that of the first kingdom. It would be, in other words, more severe in its
treatment of those that would stand up against it. This kingdom would apply a mixture of brutality
and savage cunning in its dealings with other nations. And it was raised up on one side The

The New Pow Wow Step Essay
Postmedia News released an article named A Tribe Called Red Bring Culture, Politics to Club
Music in November 5, 2012 by a Stuart Derdeyn. The article presents a view into the underground
world of Pow Wow Step , which is a recently new trend in genre due to the popularity of electronic
music. This recent genre is presented by a group named in the title, A Tribe Called Red (or ATCR)
are involved in the intricacy of traditional views of Native culture and contemporary views, which
incorporates both of these elements by having the perspective of the concept that culture has to
evolve with the change that we have in our modern era. The group approaches their music with the

This could be understandable from a certain view, perhaps from the older generations, who hold on
to their ways and do not realize the changes in the culture around them. I personally have
encountered this in my own tribe (Navajo), when a group of Navajo rappers began to perform in
their native language at public events; it was both embraced and denied (mostly by the older
age bracket). The music earned its authenticity in some ways, such as introducing non natives to
our culture and exposing the language to the younger generations, who have lost it. It seemed to
have gained a new type of authenticity as something new to both young and old audiences. I
observe that ATCR is something similar, that it will be readily accepted by the electronic
groups, because of the genres already existing diversity, and accepted by the traditional means
by being something new and apart of the culture. The group embraces urban living as well as
where they grew up, and acknowledge both cultures as a part of who each member are and know
their identity and embrace it by creating music, and performing it. ATCR concede that there is a
difference in identity by establishing some boundaries between dance music ( jingle dance ) and
sacred songs ( honor songs ) to cause no disrespect to their traditions . They see the traditions that
must hold and they seem to also see the definition of their culture changing, and they are a part of
it. And the group seeks out to educate

Essay on An Analysis of Thucydides Views on the Melian...
An Analysis of Thucydides Views on the Melian Dialogue
The Melian Dialogue is a debate between Melian and Athenian representatives concerning the
sovereignty of Melos. The debate did not really occur the arguments given by each side were of
Thucydides own creation. Thus it is reasonable to assume that we can tease out Thucydides own
beliefs. In this paper, I will first extract Thucydides views from the Melian Dialogue and then
analyze whether or not these views are well founded.
Thucydides believed that the Athenians had the stronger argument. Proof of this lies in the way
Thucydides picked the arguments for each side. For the moment, we will disregard the actual
content of the arguments, and look at argumentation forms and ... Show more content on

They say for example, ...By a law of nature...if you were as strong as we are, you would do as we
do. Athens arguments are of a higher form than the Melians, because they can be proved or
disproved.
Thucydides wrote the Dialogue in this way, and thus we can infer that his own beliefs were that
Athenians were aware of such higher argumentation forms, and the Melians were not. Thucydides
believed that Athenian arguments could be tested.
The Athenians always had the last word; had this been an actual debate the Athenians would have
won by showmanship and persuasion alone. The Melians managed to question their rivals, but once
the Athenians responded, there was no Melian rebuttal. To the question of how other neutral Greek
city states might have reacted to Athenian aggression, Athens responded that any neutral sites that
might have become hostile did not concern them. They argued that neutral city states either posed
little threat, or were already under pressure to join the alliance. To this the Melians had nothing to
say. They instead moved on to say that they would be thought of as base and cowardly should they
have submitted. Athens answered that there is only disgrace in submission to an equal power, not a
greater one like Athens. No Melian concern was left unanswered by the Athenians, yet the Melians
were often at a loss for words. The only explanation for this phenomenon

Refractory Epilepsy Case Study
This article, Specialist Management of Routine Dental Procedures in Adults with Refractory
Epilepsy from the British Dental Journal, focused on what we can do as clinicians to manage the
risk of a major seizure episode from our patients who have yet to find a medication to help them
control their seizures. Many of these patients may present with poor oral health and traumatized
teeth (Ransford, Soryal, Mccorry, Sander, Duncan, Huggins, 2014, p. 403), so it is imperative they
receive care.
A few characteristics of seizures were mentioned, but the randomness of the disorder was the main
focus. The randomness of seizures means that it is very rare that a patient will have a seizure in the
short appointment that they are scheduled for. However, the number of seizure triggers from the
patient s point of view may be more numerous, thereby increasing the chances for an episode to
occur. For example, anxiety is not uncommon among dental patients and unfortunately also happens
to be a trigger for some patients seizures. The hygienist should refer to a patient s medical ... Show

A patient experiencing a convulsive seizure may become unconscious; they may experience rigidity,
convulsion of limbs, and even incontinence. Afterwards, the patient may feel confused and drowsy
(Ransford et al., 2014, p. 404). Short appointments should not be detrimental to the patient.
However, if a longer appointment is needed and the patient is experiencing anxiety, benzodiazepines
should be considered, as they possess anxiolytic and anticonvulsant effects (Ransford et al., 2014, p.
404). We should be cautious when using conscious sedation or general anesthesia as there are
disadvantages, such as complications with the AED therapy the patient most likely is concurrently

Socrates Argument On Fearing Death
Fearing Death
Socrates is taken to trial by his accusers for damaging and undignified the minds of the youth and
not believing the gods, but believing in his own conception. Basically what Socrates did was
encourage youth to question their authority and values. Socrates argued that he could not be
charged with corrupting the youth because then that would mean that everybody helps the youth.
And if he did not mean to damage the youth then he should be instructed not punished. Socrates
explains that his accusers charge and reasoning are not logical and do not make sense therefore,
he should not be punished. Unfortunately his accusers did not see it the way he did and were
not convinced so not only did he lose the trial, but he was sentenced to death. Even though he
was sentenced to death his sense of self did not diminish, as claimed that death should be looked
at as bad. I will explain the reasons why one might think that we should not fear death. I will also
explain Socrates argument on why we should not fear death. In addition, since I disagree with
Socrates, I will explain the reasons why we, as living organisms, absolutely should fear death.

since our soul has transferred into a different realm, then that means that we must exist in that

soul that has ever existed, good or bad, resides there. Socrates expand on that idea saying that there

Topic: Von Hippel Landau Disease
Symptoms: Include a discussion of symptoms in individuals heterozygous vs. homozygous for the
defective gene if appropriate.
Von Hippel Lindau syndrome is caused by heterozygous mutation in the VHL gene
The symptoms of von Hippel Lindau syndrome are angiomata of the retina (i.e. a tumor consisting
of a mass of blood vessels in the retina) and hemangioblastoma (i.e. a tumor) of the cerebellum.
There also may be a tumor Hemangioma in the spinal cord. Pheochromocytoma occurs in some
patients. This is indicated by one or more of the following symptoms:
Skin sensations
Flank pain
Elevated heart rate
Elevated blood pressure,
Palpitations
Anxiety often resembling that of a panic attack
Diaphoresis (excessive sweating)
Headaches
Pallor
Weight loss
The most common symptoms are headache, excessive sweating, and increased heart rate. The
combination of hypertension with angioma may lead to subarachnoid hemorrhage (i.e. bleeding in
the brain).
People with the syndrome also commonly develop cysts in the kidneys, pancreas, and genital tract.
About 10% of people with the disease develop noncancerous tumors in the ear which can lead to
loss of hearing in the ear as well as ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and loss of balance. (Genetics

Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson Essay example
Thomas Paine was one of the great supporters of the American Revolution. He was a journalist
and used his pen and paper to urge the public to break free from Great Brittan. He wrote
anonymously, yet addressed the public as he spoke out about his beliefs. The first pamphlet he
published, influencing independence from Brittan, was called Common Sense Paine believed that
America needed to break free of the British clutches. He spoke out against slavery and joined the
army to help fight the war. He did not agree with hereditary monarchy and wrote another paper to
argue this point (Franklin 321). Paine was very aware of his criticizers, and worked very hard to
persuade them toward his way of thinking. In his pamphlet Common Sense he... Show more content

Moving to the new world was like escaping to an asylum for those who sought religious freedom
(Paine 324). Paine also believed that we would be allies with the rest of Europe if we broke out
ties with England. American trade suffered every time Europe had a war that involved England
(Paine 325). Although Thomas Paine had great thoughts and ideas, it wasn t until Thomas
Jefferson helped write the Declaration of Independence, that America came to his side of
thinking. Even with the powerful names involved in the Declaration of Independence, there were
still several items stricken from the final document that were in the original. For example: South
Carolina and Georgia were not ready to abolish slavery; and this was an item that Paine felt very
strongly about and Jefferson had in the original report (Jefferson 337). While several thoughts
were stricken from the Declaration of Independence, it was still a great start to the separation from
Brittan. Jefferson also thought that the monarchy in England had gone bad. He describes the king
in vivid detail: He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the
lives of our people (Jefferson 339). These comments come just after some people call England the
Mother (Paine 324). The contrasting illustration is amazing. Jefferson discusses wanting to be an

The above example clearly shows why most hard working Americans can not get ahead. You are
saving your money in US Dollars and the US Dollar is consistently loosing value. Furthermore,
the paltry interest that most accounts pay can barely keep up with inflation let alone the dollars

affluent client that had a multi currency account. Every thing they owned and invested in was in
American dollars. In the above example, not only would you have earned interest on your money
you also would have made a substantial amount of money simply based on the rising value of the

some multi millionaires that I became aware of the power of multi currency accounts. Just like a

Dignity And Question Of Doubt In The Book Of Mormon
Having doubt and questioning the doctrines of the gospel is not wrong as long as we pursue the
answers to those doubts and questions. A testimony will grow through the Holy Ghost as we
seek the answers to our doubt. Satan tries to plant doubt in our hearts and make us question the
teaching of the gospel to lead us away, and he succeeds at times. If we do not act on those doubts
and questions, then he wins, and that is what could make it wrong. Doubt means unbelief or lack
of faith. Laman and Lemuel are well known for their doubt even though they had witnessed so
many miracles. The Book of Mormon gives examples of many people who lost their faith, and
even today we have some loved ones who have strayed. There is always hope for them to come

1 Introduction
Accessing safe water with adequate sanitation has been a crucial problem for billions of people
around the world (1). Most of them are in the developing countries and this problem seems to
increase in the following years (2). One of the renewable sources of freshwater which has
sufficient sanitation is rainfall. Globally precipitation generates supply of 40000 to 45000 km3
per year (3). However, there is not a uniform rainfall for different areas of the world. Developed
countries are mostly located in the temperate or tepid latitudes, hence they have more
precipitation. On the other hand, developing countries have mostly arid and semi arid climates
which they lack in the sufficient rainfall. Imbalance between water needs and its resources has
been a crucial issue for these countries. It has been expected that by the year 2025, 34 countries
most of them developing nations will experience water scarcity (2) (3). This situation is more
critical in the North Africa and in the Middle East (4).
In addition to the scarcity of fresh water which is a major concern, nowadays for both developed
and developing countries, the quality of water has been deteriorated due to the pollution,
particularly in the developing nations. The major causes of the contaminated water resources are
the inadequate wastewater treatment, non optimized landfill construction, leaking from sewage
systems, and unauthorized agricultural, municipal and industrial wastewater discharge into aquatic

Sound Recording In Canada
Sound Recording in Canada, not regulated by the Government
Introduction
Sound recording was initially invented in 1857 by Edouard Leon Scott de Martinville. The
development of sound recording has gone through multiple stages to become what it is today. From
phonographs to magnetic tapes and further developments, sound recording has been used within the
music industry for ages. The government does not regulate the process of sound recording, however
conflicts regarding copyright infringements are present.
Brief History
An academic article written by Linda M. Fidler and William L. Schurk titled Sound Recording
Archives discusses the history of sound recording. During the 1960, the preservation of sound
recording saw major changes in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Broadcasting is $14 billion industry that includes radio and television, as well as the distribution
services of cable, satellite, and, increasingly the Internet and mobile devices (Gasher, Skinner,
Lorimer 218). The Canadian government regulates broadcasting because it serves national,
cultural, and political goals (Gasher, Skinner, Lorimer 219). The reason for comparing
regulations between sound recording and broadcasting is the fact that a great proportion of radio
broadcasting is recorded music. There is a significant symbiosis between radio broadcast policy
and policies designed to encourage the production and dissemination of Canadian music (Gasher,
Skinenr, Lorimer 225). Radio broadcasters are required to have a license in order to broadcast
music through their channel. The Canadian Radio television and Telecommunications Commission
(CRTC) is in charge of issuing these licenses to broadcasters. Today, the CRTC s duties in the
broadcasting field include: issuing and renewing licenses, up to a maximum of seven years,
modifying existing license conditions, and suspending or revoking licenses (Gasher, Skinner,
Lorimer 221). It is evident that the use of sound recordings within the field of broadcasting is
strictly regulated. This further develops an idea that the sound recording industry will become
regulated within the future, as it is present in such a vast

Dietitians in juvenile detention facilities need to rethink their menu making strategy in light of new

The Road to Bankruptcy of Detroit City Essays
The inevitable is no less a shock because it is inevitable ~ Jamaica Kincaid
Founded in 1701 by nearly 100 French settlers, Pontchartrain du Detroit was not doomed to
bankruptcy. Located near epicenters of trade including the Canadian Border and the Detroit River
and rich in resources Detroit, from a geographic sense, was a city established on lands destined to
prosper. Turning into an industrial powerhouse in the 20th century, the city saw an enormous boom
in both population and industrial prosperity with the growth of the iron stove, railroad car, and ship
building industries. It wasn t until auto manufacturing renaissance initiated with the founding of
Henry Ford Co. in 1910 that Detroit began it s nearly 100 year long descent ... Show more content

The first factor in Detroit s collapse was the undeniable success of the auto industry. The expansion
of the big three auto producers, Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors led the charge. In addition to
dominating the auto industry, the big three were largely responsible for the success of local
business throughout Detroit. Direct suppliers towards the auto companies themselves, and the
subsequent services provided to the auto workers and their families composed the majority of
Detroit business. The rapid expansion of the auto industry resulted in the industry s decentralization
with the city limits of Detroit and caused the expansion of the outlying areas surround Detroit. The
decentralization of industry had profound effects on the geography and on the population of the
city. The movement of jobs out of the city accelerated the process of suburbanization, as
autoworkers who could move followed their jobs. This trend is demonstrated by Census data,
showing that following the creating of new auto plants outside the city of Detroit resulted in the
total population dropping by nearly 300,0000 citizens by 1960. Following this decentralization,
the auto industry suffering from international competition and rising oil prices, was unable to
sustain the levels of economic output seen in years prior; and as a result, became a less desirable
place to live for both workers looking to relocate and current residents.

Pros And Cons Of Abortion In India
Abortion is one delicate subject when it comes to debating about it because of people religious
beliefs and the controversy surrounding it. But what people don t know that in many parts of the
world abortion is a big part of their daily life choices. And by that, I mean that most people tend to
have abortions, depending on the sexof their baby, because of their belief system. China and India
are one of the major countries that prefer males over females because men are the ones that are
always in power in the household and also they are the ones that tend to inherit the majority of the
family s benefits. China has one of the highest abortion rates, along with that they have the lowest
femalepopulation. Throughout my research, I ve learned a lot about sex selective abortion one of
those things that it s traveling to other parts of the world.
The reason I chose to write my report on sex selective abortion is that I saw a documentary called It
s a Girl: The Three Deadliest Words in the World I found it to be intersecting since this was my
first time ever hearing about. I couldn t understand why? Throughout the documentary, you learn
mainly how women in China and in India are being neglected and are forced into having an
abortion because of the sex of their baby. IN INDIA, CHINA AND MANY OTHER PARTS OF

In order to obtain accurate results, Finkelstein interviews 50 street youths from East Village of
New York City. Furthermore, the number of males and females interviewed were almost
proportionally equal, as there were 26 males and 24 females. She then also records the age these
youths left home, in order to decide if there are any correlations between the age the youth left home
and the number of youths that left home (2005, 15). The author applies cultural and moral
relativism throughout her entire case study. She states that she did not prepare a fixed set of
questions; rather she allowed the youths to generate the questions based on their interaction with
her (2005,11). Finkelstein demonstrates her prowess by interchanging when she conducts
interviews and when she solely observes the behavior of the youths. The ethnographic methods used
by Finkelstein are similar to those employed by Marcelo Diversi, the author of Street Kids in Nikes:
In Search of Humanization through the Culture of Consumption. Diversi s ethnography focuses on
street youths in Brazil and the impact that American pop culture has on them (Diversi, 2006). Even

The Architect s Use of Space
The architects use of space Ludvig Mies van Der Rohe s Barcelona Pavilion is one of his most
famous architectural constructions, and was built in 1928 29. As stated earlier the Barcelona
Pavilion was built in Barcelona, Spain as a German national Pavilion for the Barcelona
International Exposition of 1929 and the Chaos and Classism art and design show in 1918 1936,
which was a reaction to the chaos of the World War I and contains works that includes painting,
film, sculptures, photography and architecture. It is built form glass, steel and several kinds of
marble. After the Pavilion was disassembled in 1930 after the exhibition closed, the building
became a key part not only in the career of Mies van der Rohe, but also for the rest of the
twentieth century architectural world. It was therefore rebuilt in the 1980s, and was researched,
designed and supervised by the architects Ignasi de SolГ Morales, Cristian Cirici Fig.4Barcelona
Pavilion, Barcelona and Fernando Ramos. In the Barcelona Pavilion, the use of space is based
on the simplicity of how a functional space can be created. Geometry and the use of materials is
the key point in this reconstructed space. Mies var der Rohe s initial thoughts about the materials
he used was not so much in novelty as in the ideal mindset of modernity and that they expressed it
through the rigour of their geometry, the precision of the pieces and the clarity of their assembly.

Symbolism In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , Flannery O Connor uses symbolism to display
various hidden meanings throughout the story. One common theme portrayed by the symbols in
the story is the families impending death. Some examples regarding their impending death are the
Misfits car, the forest, the sky, the grandmothers hat, and prayer. The use of symbolism throughout
the story allows for readers to get a feel for what may occur. As evidenced in this short story, O
Connor uses several circumstances and objects that hint at what was going to happen next. In A
Good Man is Hard to Findsymbolism is prominent in describing the outcome of the family s trip.
One symbolthat immediately strikes as dark and deadly is the Misfits car. O Connor describes
the car, It was a big black battered hearselike automobile. (O Connor 476). This hearselike
appearance symbolizes the family s imminent death because the car literally holds dead people,
this is a hidden signal that death has arrived. Since a hearse carries the message of death, the car
could also represent the gruesome past that the three men are dragging along. Another example of
symbolism in the story is the dark forest. Alike, the forest also represents the impending death of
the family. The author writes ...the line of the woods gaped like a dark open mouth. (O Connor
477). The dark open mouth symbolizes the death they will all face as they are lead into the forest,
group by group to be killed. O Connor makes

The Public Health Dental Hygienist
In the first case study, the public health dental hygienist is responsible for evaluating the daily
fluoridation test that is submitted by each state to make sure it is in the optimal range 0.7 to 1.2
milligrams per liter. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2011) She is also
responsible for working with the state if the test results do not measure up the standards set forth
by the CDC. In addition the dental hygienist reports all of these results to Centers for Disease
control and Prevention (CDC) so the CDC can determine a national average. This case study shows
the assessment part of the essential public healthservices. In United States Department of Healthand
Human Services (HHS), Healthy People 2020 (2011), the report talks about how many
improvements have occurred in oral health but there is still a lot more improvement needed. The
report further explains how water fluoridation has been one of the most efficient ways to reduce
decay across the nation. Mostly everyone has access to water and if the water is fluoridated, then
those with little or no access to dental care are getting preventative dental care in the form of a
fluoride regimen in their daily water intake. (HHS, Healthy People 2020, 2011) Given this, it
would only make sense that the government would employ a dental professional to assess the water
fluoridation in every state. As assessment is usually conducted at two phases in any project. (Burt,
2005) First it is conducted to

Taking a Look at Myasthenia Gravis
People go to doctors offices with a lot of different conditions everyday. A lot of those conditions
happen to share the same symptoms which could make it hard to determine what is truly wrong
with a patient without a diagnosis. A diagnosis is a methodical evaluation of symptoms and
complaints through interview, observation, testing instruments and/or procedures taken to
determine if an illness is present (1). It is important that a person be diagnosed thoroughly and
properly so that they can receive the right treatment (if available) to make the patient better. A
patient with symptoms like Susan s would need a full diagnosis to determine exactly what he/she
has, which is what her doctor did. Her doctor s diagnosis made it easy for us to determine whether
her illness is myasthenia gravisor myotonic muscular dystrophy. Here s how.
We learned through research that myasthenia gravis and myotonic muscular dystrophy are two
common forms of muscular disorders. Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular disorder that usually
occurs in the arms, head and chest (2). Its symptoms include limb weakness, drooping eyelids,
impaired vision, difficulty chewing and swallowing, slurred speech, difficulty breathing and
abnormality of the thymus gland (3). Myotonic muscular dystrophy is one of many forms of

Political Irrectness In The Play Oleanna
Picture someone patting someone on the back in the spirit of reassurance, now picture the
recipient and notice that they see an opportunity to exploit a system in order to beat a dead
horse. Thesis: The overall structure of political correctness is flawed, it does things such as
create room to exploit language on a legal level, demean and create a useless pressure to be
mindful of one s words. Not to say however that one should be rude. These reasons are why one
could argue that the PC movement does more harm than good. The play Oleanna highlights how
political correctness can be used and exploited to forward a personal opinion. Oleanna, a play
written by David Mamet, is widely renowned for its unique style and appeal. Most of all,
however, it is the story within that appeals to most people. In this play, a character known as
Carol is shown at first as a student seeking help. Later on in the play, however, it is revealed that
her appearance in the office of John, a college professor, had many ulterior motives. Over the
course of the play, she takes advantage of politically correct language, using it to thrash John with
increasing intensity. Carol eventually goes to attack John for referring to the tenure committee as
good men . To refer to the committee as Good Men and True, it is a demeaning remark. It is a
sexist remark, and to overlook it is to countenance continuation of that method of thought (Mamet
32). This use of Political Correctness is clearly not the

The American Of Revolt Against Great Britain
There were many reasons that the American colonies decided to revolt against Great Britain, but
some of the more major causes of the American revolution were the banning of arms , the very
unpopular Stamp Act, the Declaratory Act, and the Boston Tea Port Acts. Another unpopular Act
enforced on the colonies, by His Majesty of Great Britain, was the now famous Stamp Act. The
Stamp Act was a set of laws created by the King and parliament, saying that the American
colonists had to pay more taxes than the people in Great Britain were paying, as a way to pay off
the cost of the Seven Years War. This Act was upsetting to the colonists because they didn t get the
chance to have a say in wether or not they were okay with/wanted such large taxes being imposed
upon them. This can be seen in Document A, when the colonists wrote in a letter to the king that it
is inseparably essential to the freedom of a people, and the undoubted right of Englishmen, that no
taxes be imposed on them, but with their own consent, given personally, or by their representatives.
This quote shows that the colonists did not agree with the taxation, or at least not without them
being represented in Great Britain. The King placing all of these taxes on the American colonies
made them feel as if they were not being treated as actual Englishmen, but rather as the outcasts and
criminals that no one else wanted. This is evident in the letter written to the King, when the
colonies say that His Majesty s

Multitasking Is Bad
Many people multitask, for some it is a daily routine. Multitasking is not a bad thing, however it
is not always good. Texting and driving is a bad example. Listening to music and doing

of multitasking. Multitasking can be done in certain situations. A large amount of people
multitask every day. Some people say it is good, others say it is bad. Research shows that only
about five percent of us multitask effectively (Weimer). Which means that the other 95 percent don

High stakes testing has been so controversial that students, parents, and even teachers have
protested the tests. One such student who boycotted his school s tests was Andrew King, a 15 year
old student from Cambridge, Massachusetts, who says, I don t think kids should have their whole
future based on the results of one test. (Nagourney, 2) This request seems reasonable, considering
the consequences of scoring poorly in today s system. Although with exams now being a
graduation requirement, very few kids can afford to continue to boycott the tests. Jackie Dee King
who works for the Center for Fair and Open Testing, and Andrew s mother, agrees with her son s
decision. Of course, we want the educationsystem to have high standards and to have school
systems be held accountable. We believe in that but we don t believe this is the way to do it.
(Nagourney, 2) Many other parents have supported their children s choice to opt out of their
school s tests. Some are so desperate, they are willing to go as far as citing religious freedom in
the Constitution s 14th Amendment to avoid the tests. Specifically, What is hateful to you, do not
do to your fellow man. This is the law. Most teachers and parents have opted out in the more
traditional way, by holding rallies and boycotts. Scrap the MAP was a boycott held by both
teachers and parents in Seattle, and they were successful. And Recent rallies at state capitol and
opting out protests have taken place...Grassroots parent

Nature And Nature In Coleridge s Frost At Midnight
Coleridge often explores the relationship between humanity and nature in his poetry. These two
groups are unified in his conversation poem Frost at Midnight , and allow the reader into his
internal thoughts. He meditates on comparisons by pairing the magical appearance of frost on the
windowpane to how his thoughts are in flux and reflux. Coleridge shows how the thinking of the
mindmirrors nature and how repeating patterns reveal universal aspects of poetry, thoughts, and
nature. Coleridge makes use of the repetitive patterns in nature and uses them to capture the mind s
movement. The structure of the poem uses frost as a guide. Similar to how frost propagates itself,
the poem contains organic, repeating fractal patterns with small variations within them. These
patterns exist throughout nature in honeycombs, mountains, clouds, and leaves. Furthermore, the
speaker of the poem, Coleridge, and his infant son, Hartley reflect the idea of repetition.
Repetition exists as Hartley is a replica of Coleridge as children can be seen as versions of their
parents. However, Coleridge also points out how he and his son are different as well. Coleridge
wants his son to be intimately familiar with nature, writing With tender gladness, thus to look at
thee, / And think that thou shalt learn far other lore / And in far other scenes! (lines 49 51).
Coleridge will make sure that his son will enjoy nature and not have the experience he had in the
city. The repetitive nature and movement of

U.s. Auto Parts Industry
Despite recent growth, the U.S. motor vehicle sector is still behind. Total U.S. motor vehicle
sector sales in 2011 were 48.1 percent below sales in 2000 because of declining overall demand
and significant long term loss of market share. The U.S. auto parts industry is particularly
vulnerable. The U.S. trade deficit in auto parts increased from $9.5 billion in 2000 to $31.2 billion
in 2010. Exports support U.S. jobs, but imports displace production that would support domestic
employment; thus, on balance, trade deficits tend to increase unemployment (holding everything
else in the economy constant). The U.S. auto parts industry is threatened by Chinese practices.

Parts Industry The extent of employment in the U.S. auto manufacturing business is motivated by
demand for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts to equip car manufacturing factories in
the U.S. Due to the relative influence of the entire motor vehicle division on the auto parts industry
(Office of Transportation and Machinery 2011, 9), direct employment in the U.S. auto supply
business has dramatically decreased in the past few years, downturning 419,600 jobs (45.8 percent)

How Has American Idol Impacted My Life
How many people can look back and identify with an event that would leave a lasting impacted
their life? Everyone has had a significant event occur that has impacted his or her life in some
way. Most people present a memorable event that is very near to them, and how it had a great
impact on their lives. Many characteristics of my life has shaped my character and how I live my
life. There were three major events that occurred in my lifetime that had a great impact on my life:
Moving to Japan, American Idol, and having a grandfather that was a preacher.
Growing up I had a pretty normal childhood, that is if you count living in Japan as normal.
Growing up my dad was the Air Force, and in 2003 he got stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Not only
did my father move, but my mom, sister, and I tagged along. I was 4 years old, and I spent three
and a half years of my childhood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The show inspired everyday people to go out and pursue their dream. Growing up I was always
singing. So when American Idol debuted in 2002, there was finally a show that I could relate to.
American Idol was the highlight of my Wednesday and Thursday nights. Because my familyand I
were living in Japan, we had a limited number of channels that we could watch. My family and I
generally watched whatever was available, and that was American Idol. The show was a tradition
in our family, we hardly missed an episode. Not only was American Idol funny, but it showed me
that a person does not have to be a Movie Star to sing. Based on the excitement generated by that
first season of American Idol, amateurs were soon dotting the television landscape seeking fame
and fortune. (France 2). It was not until the fourth season of American Idol when Carrie Underwood
won, that I realized how much music mattered to me. American Idol influenced my love for music
and continues to influence

  • 2. My Core Philosophy And It s Ongoing Development In formulating this essay I will give a descriptive account of my core philosophy and it s ongoing development. I will evidence my way of working in context to counselling theory, relating this to the course s guidelines. Giving reflections on personal, intrinsic values and beliefs, their application in practice within a placement setting. There are many emerging influences that shape both my professional and personal development as a practitioner. Accessing a vast array of life experiences, contributes richly to the evolution of my individual approach. Aptly noted as Counsellors and therapists are influenced by their own experience or story as they develop or adopt their theoretical stance (Milner and Palmer, 2001, P. 17)). Ongoing instruction at college and engagement with fellow students continue to prompt further learning, allowing for openness and shared knowledge. This facilitates an atmosphere of mutual exchange which often flows spontaneously. In addition personal research undertaken around theoretical subject matter expands and enhances understanding. Attending training and workshops in Transactional Analysis, Emotion Focused Therapy, Neurobiology of Anxiety and Trauma and Seren work with the survivors of sexual abuse, have promoted exploration, development and growth. Discovering scientific aspects of neurobiology and its positive affects, affirm the effectiveness of the therapeutic engagement in counselling. Details consolidating these findings are described ... • 3. What Are The Characteristics Of The Second Beast The second beast And behold, another beast, a second one, resembling a bear. And it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth; and thus they said to it, Arise, devour much meat! Characteristics of the beast. Regarding the second beast, we should consider the following: The beast resembled a bear that is it looked like a bear and it had the character of a bear. It was raised up on one side. Three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth. It was commanded to arise and devour much meat. A second one, resembling a bear That is, after the lion had disappeared. The bear was a well known animal found in Media, a mountainous, cold and rough country, covered with woods. Its character is very much different from the lion or any other animal for that matter. There must have been a very good reason why the bear was chosen to represent the second kingdom the one that would succeed the lion kingdom. Bochart[4] says the bear is distinguished mainly for two things, that is its cunningness and its ferocity. Aristotle[5] said that the bear is a greedy, silly and foolhardy animal. In Hosea 13:8 God said to Israel: I will encounter them like a bear robbed of her cubs, and I will tear open their chests. Writers on the natures of beasts say that none is more savage than a she bear, when bereaved of her whelps [Jerome].[6] Another example of the bear s character is found in 2 Sa. 17:8 You know that your father and his men are mighty men, and that they are enraged, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. According to the great King Solomon, there is only one thing worse than a bear Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs rather than a fool in his folly (Pro. 17:12). The characteristics of the second kingdom, therefore, would be things such as ferocity, roughness, fierceness in war, especially when provoked. One would expect to find that its actions would be less noble than that of the first kingdom. It would be, in other words, more severe in its treatment of those that would stand up against it. This kingdom would apply a mixture of brutality and savage cunning in its dealings with other nations. And it was raised up on one side The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The New Pow Wow Step Essay Postmedia News released an article named A Tribe Called Red Bring Culture, Politics to Club Music in November 5, 2012 by a Stuart Derdeyn. The article presents a view into the underground world of Pow Wow Step , which is a recently new trend in genre due to the popularity of electronic music. This recent genre is presented by a group named in the title, A Tribe Called Red (or ATCR) are involved in the intricacy of traditional views of Native culture and contemporary views, which incorporates both of these elements by having the perspective of the concept that culture has to evolve with the change that we have in our modern era. This could be understandable from a certain view, perhaps from the older generations, who hold on to their ways and do not realize the changes in the culture around them. I personally have encountered this in my own tribe (Navajo), when a group of Navajo rappers began to perform in their native language at public events; it was both embraced and denied (mostly by the older age bracket). The music earned its authenticity in some ways, such as introducing non natives to our culture and exposing the language to the younger generations, who have lost it. It seemed to have gained a new type of authenticity as something new to both young and old audiences. I observe that ATCR is something similar, that it will be readily accepted by the electronic groups, because of the genres already existing diversity, and accepted by the traditional means by being something new and apart of the culture. The group embraces urban living as well as where they grew up, and acknowledge both cultures as a part of who each member are and know their identity and embrace it by creating music, and performing it. ATCR concede that there is a difference in identity by establishing some boundaries between dance music ( jingle dance ) and sacred songs ( honor songs ) to cause no disrespect to their traditions . They see the traditions that must hold and they seem to also see the definition of their culture changing, and they are a part of it. And the group seeks out to educate ... • 6. Essay on An Analysis of Thucydides Views on the Melian... An Analysis of Thucydides Views on the Melian Dialogue The Melian Dialogue is a debate between Melian and Athenian representatives concerning the sovereignty of Melos. The debate did not really occur the arguments given by each side were of Thucydides own creation. Thus it is reasonable to assume that we can tease out Thucydides own beliefs. In this paper, I will first extract Thucydides views from the Melian Dialogue and then analyze whether or not these views are well founded. Thucydides believed that the Athenians had the stronger argument. Proof of this lies in the way Thucydides picked the arguments for each side. For the moment, we will disregard the actual content of the arguments, and look at argumentation forms and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They say for example, ...By a law of nature...if you were as strong as we are, you would do as we do. Athens arguments are of a higher form than the Melians, because they can be proved or disproved. Thucydides wrote the Dialogue in this way, and thus we can infer that his own beliefs were that Athenians were aware of such higher argumentation forms, and the Melians were not. Thucydides believed that Athenian arguments could be tested. The Athenians always had the last word; had this been an actual debate the Athenians would have won by showmanship and persuasion alone. The Melians managed to question their rivals, but once the Athenians responded, there was no Melian rebuttal. To the question of how other neutral Greek city states might have reacted to Athenian aggression, Athens responded that any neutral sites that might have become hostile did not concern them. They argued that neutral city states either posed little threat, or were already under pressure to join the alliance. To this the Melians had nothing to say. They instead moved on to say that they would be thought of as base and cowardly should they have submitted. Athens answered that there is only disgrace in submission to an equal power, not a greater one like Athens. No Melian concern was left unanswered by the Athenians, yet the Melians were often at a loss for words. The only explanation for this phenomenon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Refractory Epilepsy Case Study This article, Specialist Management of Routine Dental Procedures in Adults with Refractory Epilepsy from the British Dental Journal, focused on what we can do as clinicians to manage the risk of a major seizure episode from our patients who have yet to find a medication to help them control their seizures. Many of these patients may present with poor oral health and traumatized teeth (Ransford, Soryal, Mccorry, Sander, Duncan, Huggins, 2014, p. 403), so it is imperative they receive care. A few characteristics of seizures were mentioned, but the randomness of the disorder was the main focus. The randomness of seizures means that it is very rare that a patient will have a seizure in the short appointment that they are scheduled for. However, the number of seizure triggers from the patient s point of view may be more numerous, thereby increasing the chances for an episode to occur. For example, anxiety is not uncommon among dental patients and unfortunately also happens to be a trigger for some patients seizures. The hygienist should refer to a patient s medical ... Basically what Socrates did was encourage youth to question their authority and values. Socrates argued that he could not be charged with corrupting the youth because then that would mean that everybody helps the youth. And if he did not mean to damage the youth then he should be instructed not punished. Socrates explains that his accusers charge and reasoning are not logical and do not make sense therefore, he should not be punished. Unfortunately his accusers did not see it the way he did and were not convinced so not only did he lose the trial, but he was sentenced to death. Even though he was sentenced to death his sense of self did not diminish, as claimed that death should be looked at as bad. I will explain the reasons why one might think that we should not fear death. I will also explain Socrates argument on why we should not fear death. He was a journalist and used his pen and paper to urge the public to break free from Great Brittan. He wrote anonymously, yet addressed the public as he spoke out about his beliefs. The first pamphlet he published, influencing independence from Brittan, was called Common Sense Paine believed that America needed to break free of the British clutches. He spoke out against slavery and joined the army to help fight the war. He did not agree with hereditary monarchy and wrote another paper to argue this point (Franklin 321). Moving to the new world was like escaping to an asylum for those who sought religious freedom (Paine 324). Paine also believed that we would be allies with the rest of Europe if we broke out ties with England. American trade suffered every time Europe had a war that involved England (Paine 325). Although Thomas Paine had great thoughts and ideas, it wasn t until Thomas Jefferson helped write the Declaration of Independence, that America came to his side of thinking. Even with the powerful names involved in the Declaration of Independence, there were still several items stricken from the final document that were in the original. For example: South Carolina and Georgia were not ready to abolish slavery; and this was an item that Paine felt very strongly about and Jefferson had in the original report (Jefferson 337). While several thoughts were stricken from the Declaration of Independence, it was still a great start to the separation from Brittan. Jefferson also thought that the monarchy in England had gone bad. He describes the king in vivid detail: He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people (Jefferson 339). These comments come just after some people call England the Mother (Paine 324). The contrasting illustration is amazing. Jefferson discusses wanting to be an individual country ... The company has selected a performance based model because they need the applicant who fills this position to be able to start straight away and pick up the responsibilities as soon as the staff member leaves to go on parental leave. However, they have indicated that they are willing to be flexible to an extent if no successful applicant is identified within these selection cut offs. The cut offs the company is willing to be flexible with are those which are knowledge based and can be learnt on the job (HR and clerical knowledge). However, the company wants to be sure that the selected applicant is trainable and still has knowledge in HR and clerical roles. For this reason two factors will be considered before applying some flexibility. 1)The cut off for both HR and clerical knowledge is applicant pool based. • 20. Safe Water with Adequate Sanitation 1 Introduction Accessing safe water with adequate sanitation has been a crucial problem for billions of people around the world (1). Most of them are in the developing countries and this problem seems to increase in the following years (2). One of the renewable sources of freshwater which has sufficient sanitation is rainfall. Globally precipitation generates supply of 40000 to 45000 km3 per year (3). However, there is not a uniform rainfall for different areas of the world. Developed countries are mostly located in the temperate or tepid latitudes, hence they have more precipitation. On the other hand, developing countries have mostly arid and semi arid climates which they lack in the sufficient rainfall. Imbalance between water needs and its resources has been a crucial issue for these countries. It has been expected that by the year 2025, 34 countries most of them developing nations will experience water scarcity (2) (3). This situation is more critical in the North Africa and in the Middle East (4). In addition to the scarcity of fresh water which is a major concern, nowadays for both developed and developing countries, the quality of water has been deteriorated due to the pollution, particularly in the developing nations. The major causes of the contaminated water resources are the inadequate wastewater treatment, non optimized landfill construction, leaking from sewage systems, and unauthorized agricultural, municipal and industrial wastewater discharge into aquatic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Broadcasting is $14 billion industry that includes radio and television, as well as the distribution services of cable, satellite, and, increasingly the Internet and mobile devices (Gasher, Skinner, Lorimer 218). The Canadian government regulates broadcasting because it serves national, cultural, and political goals (Gasher, Skinner, Lorimer 219). The reason for comparing regulations between sound recording and broadcasting is the fact that a great proportion of radio broadcasting is recorded music. There is a significant symbiosis between radio broadcast policy and policies designed to encourage the production and dissemination of Canadian music (Gasher, Skinenr, Lorimer 225). Radio broadcasters are required to have a license in order to broadcast music through their channel. The Canadian Radio television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is in charge of issuing these licenses to broadcasters. Today, the CRTC s duties in the broadcasting field include: issuing and renewing licenses, up to a maximum of seven years, modifying existing license conditions, and suspending or revoking licenses (Gasher, Skinner, Lorimer 221). It is evident that the use of sound recordings within the field of broadcasting is strictly regulated. Located near epicenters of trade including the Canadian Border and the Detroit River and rich in resources Detroit, from a geographic sense, was a city established on lands destined to prosper. Turning into an industrial powerhouse in the 20th century, the city saw an enormous boom in both population and industrial prosperity with the growth of the iron stove, railroad car, and ship building industries. The first factor in Detroit s collapse was the undeniable success of the auto industry. The expansion of the big three auto producers, Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors led the charge. In addition to dominating the auto industry, the big three were largely responsible for the success of local business throughout Detroit. Direct suppliers towards the auto companies themselves, and the subsequent services provided to the auto workers and their families composed the majority of Detroit business. The rapid expansion of the auto industry resulted in the industry s decentralization with the city limits of Detroit and caused the expansion of the outlying areas surround Detroit. The decentralization of industry had profound effects on the geography and on the population of the city. The movement of jobs out of the city accelerated the process of suburbanization, as autoworkers who could move followed their jobs. This trend is demonstrated by Census data, showing that following the creating of new auto plants outside the city of Detroit resulted in the total population dropping by nearly 300,0000 citizens by 1960. Following this decentralization, the auto industry suffering from international competition and rising oil prices, was unable to sustain the levels of economic output seen in years prior; and as a result, became a less desirable place to live for both workers looking to relocate and current residents. One common theme portrayed by the symbols in the story is the families impending death. Some examples regarding their impending death are the Misfits car, the forest, the sky, the grandmothers hat, and prayer. The use of symbolism throughout the story allows for readers to get a feel for what may occur. As evidenced in this short story, O Connor uses several circumstances and objects that hint at what was going to happen next. In A Good Man is Hard to Findsymbolism is prominent in describing the outcome of the family s trip. One symbolthat immediately strikes as dark and deadly is the Misfits car. O Connor describes the car, It was a big black battered hearselike automobile. (O Connor 476). This hearselike appearance symbolizes the family s imminent death because the car literally holds dead people, this is a hidden signal that death has arrived. Since a hearse carries the message of death, the car could also represent the gruesome past that the three men are dragging along. Another example of symbolism in the story is the dark forest. The American Of Revolt Against Great Britain There were many reasons that the American colonies decided to revolt against Great Britain, but some of the more major causes of the American revolution were the banning of arms , the very unpopular Stamp Act, the Declaratory Act, and the Boston Tea Port Acts. Another unpopular Act enforced on the colonies, by His Majesty of Great Britain, was the now famous Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was a set of laws created by the King and parliament, saying that the American colonists had to pay more taxes than the people in Great Britain were paying, as a way to pay off the cost of the Seven Years War. This Act was upsetting to the colonists because they didn t get the chance to have a say in wether or not they were okay with/wanted such large taxes being imposed upon them. This can be seen in Document A, when the colonists wrote in a letter to the king that it is inseparably essential to the freedom of a people, and the undoubted right of Englishmen, that no taxes be imposed on them, but with their own consent, given personally, or by their representatives. This quote shows that the colonists did not agree with the taxation, or at least not without them being represented in Great Britain. The King placing all of these taxes on the American colonies made them feel as if they were not being treated as actual Englishmen, but rather as the outcasts and criminals that no one else wanted. • 41. Persuasive Essay On High Stakes Testing High stakes testing has been so controversial that students, parents, and even teachers have protested the tests. One such student who boycotted his school s tests was Andrew King, a 15 year old student from Cambridge, Massachusetts, who says, I don t think kids should have their whole future based on the results of one test. (Nagourney, 2) This request seems reasonable, considering the consequences of scoring poorly in today s system. Although with exams now being a graduation requirement, very few kids can afford to continue to boycott the tests. Jackie Dee King who works for the Center for Fair and Open Testing, and Andrew s mother, agrees with her son s decision. Of course, we want the educationsystem to have high standards and to have school systems be held accountable. We believe in that but we don t believe this is the way to do it. (Nagourney, 2) Many other parents have supported their children s choice to opt out of their school s tests. Some are so desperate, they are willing to go as far as citing religious freedom in the Constitution s 14th Amendment to avoid the tests. Specifically, What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow man. This is the law. Most teachers and parents have opted out in the more traditional way, by holding rallies and boycotts. • 43. Nature And Nature In Coleridge s Frost At Midnight Coleridge often explores the relationship between humanity and nature in his poetry. These two groups are unified in his conversation poem Frost at Midnight , and allow the reader into his internal thoughts. He meditates on comparisons by pairing the magical appearance of frost on the windowpane to how his thoughts are in flux and reflux. Coleridge shows how the thinking of the mindmirrors nature and how repeating patterns reveal universal aspects of poetry, thoughts, and nature. Coleridge makes use of the repetitive patterns in nature and uses them to capture the mind s movement. The structure of the poem uses frost as a guide. Similar to how frost propagates itself, the poem contains organic, repeating fractal patterns with small variations within them. These patterns exist throughout nature in honeycombs, mountains, clouds, and leaves. Furthermore, the speaker of the poem, Coleridge, and his infant son, Hartley reflect the idea of repetition. Repetition exists as Hartley is a replica of Coleridge as children can be seen as versions of their parents. However, Coleridge also points out how he and his son are different as well. Coleridge wants his son to be intimately familiar with nature, writing With tender gladness, thus to look at thee, / And think that thou shalt learn far other lore / And in far other scenes! (lines 49 51). Coleridge will make sure that his son will enjoy nature and not have the experience he had in the city. The repetitive nature and movement of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Total U.S. motor vehicle sector sales in 2011 were 48.1 percent below sales in 2000 because of declining overall demand and significant long term loss of market share. The U.S. auto parts industry is particularly vulnerable.
