3. Analysis Of The Movie Butterfield Stars Essay
Butterfield stars as Bruno, a curious, stubborn eight year old whose family is relocated to the
countryside when his father receives a new job as a head member of the Nazi party, working for
the Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp. Lonely and frustrated from having no one his
own age to talk to, Bruno explores past the limits of his backyard. He comes across a barbed
wire fence, with a young boy named Schmuel (played by Scanlon) on the other side wearing
what Bruno perceives to be striped pajamas. The two boys strike up a friendship through the
fence, with Bruno coming to visit Shmuel almost daily. Neither boy grasps that Schmuel is in a
death camp, and when Schmuel confesses to Bruno that he is Jewish, Bruno doesn t not seem to
understand why that matters. Curious as to what really lies on the other side of the fence, Bruno
and Schmuel plot for him to sneak into the camp, which leads to the demise of both of them. The
film is more emotion based rather than fact based, in an attempt to appeal to the audiences
symphonies rather than instruct them on a historical event. It has been criticized for its accuracy,
specifically pertaining to the ages of the boys. Many critics claim that boys as young as Schmuel
would never have been at Auschwitz, because all children too young to work were gassed upon
arrival. Others argue that the film is symbol of innocence, and the two boys reflect how children
are able to look past each other s differences easier than adults. Critics also

The passage of knowledge using the modernized ways of communication when well applied can
uphold the introduction of language and still promote the experience in learning. Many types of
research are underway on how the teaching of communication techniques away from the source is
possible but still there is a clue on how the local language of communication in China has been
taught to people at the far place. The research has shown the significance of modern sciencein those
that are being introduced to the Chinese parlance. It has explained how the modern science has
been used to support passage of information and knowledge through blending online personal study
and active classes. The scrutiny aims at giving a new understanding of how the learning of the

educating and learning. To evaluate the association between the modern sciences, teaching and
learning. In the last decade the rapid growth in knowledge and the modern science, the availability
of movable gargets, applications and encoded instructions have altered the forms of language
learning. Faced with ever rising range and types of new modern sciences, the programmers and

5. How Does Steinbeck Use Pathetic Fallacy In King Lear
Steinbeck use the imagery of nature to illustrate the outcome of disaster because of a character s
friendship or faith in loyalty. For example, Shakespeare s use of pathetic fallacy in scene three of
King Lear exemplifies the tension of Lear s struggle elevating his forces to the level of natural
forces. The author uses the storm to illustrate Lear s rage and despair caused by his deceitful
daughters. He states, Singe my white head! And thou, all shaking thunder, Smite flat the thick
rotundity o th world, (3.2.8 9). In these two lines, Lear implies how his world symbolically came
to an end because both his daughter refuse to shelter 100 of his knights. Through his childish
desire for the real world to also end, Lear reveals himself in the... Show more content on

First of all, through the inaccurate representation and stereotypes of both empowered and
oppressed women, Shakespeare and Steinbeck explore the destruction of relationships. In
Shakespeare s play King Lear, the dominant female roles are given to Goneril and Regan who
manipulate others through their empowerment to get what they desire, yet in the end of the play
lead to each other s demise tragic ending. Neither Goneril, nor Regan have the decency to honor
or remain loyal to their own husbands. They usurp their father s authority and disrespect their
marriage. However, in the beginning of the play, they remain loyal to one another. Through a
feminist lens, this portrayal of women is demeaning and erroneous, but illustrates how even the
most horrific character s loyalty to one other is worthless. The lustful desires of both women for
Edmund results in Goneril poisoning Regan and then committing suicide tragic demise of both
women. In similar fashion, Steinbeck depicts the disloyalty in an oppressed woman. The only
female character in Of Mice and Men is Curley s wife whose identification is known through her
husband. She is considered to be the reason for the downfall of men and a distraction. Throughout
the novel she is described in derogatory

8. Early Activities In Europe
The early activities in Europe are considered to be based on physical activity and mental
intelligence and to have existed before any organized sports, games or activities. Games have been
a very important part of the American society since the earliest days. Children played games
throughout the day to keep them occupied, and adults participated in games, sports, and other
activities. There were many different types of games, sports, and pastimes available to the people
of all ages.
Children played games such as blind man s buff, also known as hoodman blind. This game required
the players to pick a player to be it . The player who was it had to cover their eyes with a hood that

Archery was a big sport in this time. Archery came with an obvious military overtone, and it is
later called the national sport of medieval Europe. The weapon that most people chose to use
was a longbow, the weapon used in wars in Europe at this time, because it was easier and was
quicker to reload and shoot. There was also an extreme emphasis on hunting. Hunting requires a
large amount of physical activity for not only the hunters, but also the animals that they hunt
with. The hunters believed this sport to be a way to train for war. If there was no immediate
war, hunting served as a way for the military elite to show off. Hunting in a royal forest was
reserved for only the king and those people that he hand chose and deemed eligible to participate.
The medieval people also participated in winter games. Skating on frozen lakes was not uncommon
for them. The skaters used poles to help keep them going across these icy

9. Graphic And Violent Video Games Research Paper
Graphic and Violent video games: Companies should strictly rate and monitor their games
By: Talisa Anderson
Graphic and violent video game companies should strictly rate their video games that are being
sold. When teenagers ages 13 18 play these violent video games that include killing, blood and
terrorism, they have less physical activity. The more teenagers that play graphic and violent video
games have more chances to be affected by the violence and mature content. Every time these
games are played, the gamers will react more aggressively and violently toward students at school,
siblings and parents. When violent and graphic video games are strictly rated and monitored the
positive outcomes are less mature content, more physical activity and prevents teens from video
game related violence.
Strictly rated and monitored graphic and violent video games will prevent the risk of mature
content from video games influencing teens. Certain games like Doom are made to train US
military to shoot and kill effectively (Shin,2008). Nevertheless, if teenagers varying from 13

10. Virtue Ethics And Aristotle s Virtue Ethics
Virtue ethics revolves around an individual s character traits, which often times crosses over to
one s career, or in this case engineering. According to Aristotle, if a person has obtained certain
virtues, it will be reflected in their behavior. Engineers have a responsibility to protect the public
from harm, as well as promote the public s wellbeing. Therefore, an engineer must contain several
vital character traits, or virtues, in order to perform their job accordingly. In this paper, virtueethics
will be further evaluated as well as applied to the engineering discipline. In order to understand
Aristotle s virtue ethics, the words eudaimonia and arГЄte must be acknowledged. Eudaimonia is
defined as happiness or flourishing. This state of eudaimonia is achieved by striving for goals in
life, which in turn results in the individual s success and happiness. The individual is always
setting new goals in order to become the best person they can be. ArГЄte, on the other hand, is
defined as a virtue, or what makes something outstanding. According to Aristotle, virtues are a mean
between deficiency and excess. This means that an individual has acquired a virtue when presented
with a situation, the individual preforms... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Each of these character traits are essential for an individual to become virtuous, in both their

rational. Temperance is containing self control, or control over an individual s behavior. Courage
can be thought of as the ability to face one s fears, and act bravely in a situation. Lastly, justice is

11. Hamlet Act 2 Scene 2 Essay
Analysis of Hamlet Act 2 scene 2 The play Hamlet depicts the life of a prince who wants to
avenge his father s death. In his journey, he takes the lives of many, but manages to kill Claudius,
the one who killed his father. The soliloquy being analyzed is located at the end of Act 2 Scene
2. This extract takes place after Hamlet is left alone in a room in the castle. A character in this
soliloquy is Hamlet. In the extract, he is releasing his fury as a player could get more emotional
about his father s death than Hamlet. He is reflecting at what he has done and what will he do to
avenge his father. This extract takes place in the rising action as Hamlet is reacting to his
reaction towards his father s death. Hamlet in this soliloquy is depicted as a vengeful and
negative person. Hamlet is desperate to seek revenge for his father, but he is unable to do it, as
explained by dull and muddy mettled rascal, peak, Like John a dreams . This tells us that Hamlet
does not have much motivation in avenging his father as he still does not know for sure who or

12. Essay On St Augustine
The life and thoughts of St. Augustine survived the ages through numerous and detailed texts, some
of which written by Augustine himself, others written by others under his supervision. As a result,
the portrait of the prominent medieval philosopher is not only very clear, but also reveals more of
a single figure than that of any other philosopher of his time.
One of the major topics that entranced St. Augustine was the topic of sin, the sinner, and evil. Those
themes possessed some of his more detailed thoughts, themes that were present throughout his life.
The question revolving around the problem of evil are hard to answer, and this essay will attempt
to give a clear account of Augustine s thoughts on this topic. Hopefully, while his thoughts... Show

Although Augustine s view on rhetoric was negative, even within his confessions he employed his
knowledge of the art and made him such a powerful speaker.
In Confessions, Augustine retells his time at Carthage as a time when he would experience
physical love and the desire for it. Because the confessions are written many years after his leaving
the times of adolescence, they are written in retrospect, with Augustine s views very different. Not
only did he separate physical love from God, but he treated physical love as a way to hinder one s
connection to God. Hence, it was natural that he would treat earthly love and desires as inferior,
and harmful.
The power of Augustine s words lay in his vivid descriptions of his acts of sins and desires that
he harnessed within him. By this, in the eyes of the public, he would place himself not as a semi
god as many would think him to be, but as a man like any other, who began his travels along the
same path as everyone else. This would further send a message how other people could reach God,
just as Augustine had, and created a possibility for others to follow. Augustine s sermons must have

years to over 100. The company manufactures two types of anchors in different sizes. The types are
the mushroom/bell anchor and the snap hook anchor. Albatross Anchor has many manufacturing

E. The capacity and facilities have out grown what the company has now. The company was
designed to be a small manufacturer. Albatross is sitting on 12 acres of land they would be able
to expand to make room for better technology. They have plenty of land to become an aggressive
modern company, who is producing a top quality product. They can be the top producer of
anchors with the changes that need to come about. Capacity is the maximum amount capable of
producing. Another why to expand the capacity is to consider outsourcing. Outsourcing would
come into play when they cannot set up the equipment and they need to produce product to
satisfy an order. Some things to consider are the cost of making the product, such as labor, raw
materials, and overhead. The facilities need to be made larger. The area that holds the raw
materials should be expanded and should be close to the receiving area. Finished products
should be close to the shipping area. This would cut down on time by not having to move
product from such a long distance. The receiving and shipping should be together on the side
where imports and exports are done. F. Service to customers is not very good. Long lead times
and bad shipping methods are cause for problems. Accessibility and convenience are also a cause
for concern.

15. Mass Markets and Mass Production
In today s world, Mass Markets have lost its appeal. The time where mass production of goods
and services for all customers are long gone. Mass Marketing is paving way for Niche Marketing
using more personalised approach. Mass Markets as we know are large unsegmented or
undifferentiated market where products and services are offered to every consumer using mass
marketingtechniques. On the other hand, Mass Marketing is referred to as the market coverage
approach where companies use one particular idea on the entire mass market.
The focus of Mass Markets is gradually shifting towards Niche Markets. Such markets mainly
focus on particular products to a much defined audience unlike mass markets. The product is
customised and made according to customers needs hence the customer is also ready pay for their
preferred product.
One of the examples of such mass markets was Coca Cola. Around the 1880 s, Asa Griggs Candler
bought the rights of Coca Cola originally from John Pemberton. He made unique changes to its
packaging and logo to attract its customers. He sold Coca Cola through huge advertising spending
to the mass audience becoming the first person to use this technique of mass marketing which made
Coca Cola one the most successful brands in the soft drinks sector.
The concept of mass markets first came into existence during the Second World War. During this
time, there was an increased need to produce electronic equipment s like the Radio and Television
giving rise to mass

category a film is categorized. A genre is a type or category of film that can be easily identified by
specific elements of its plot, setting, mise en scГЁne, character types, or style. Genres are not
stagnant categories. The study of their evolution is nothing short of the study of film and the

how they have changed over the years to reflect the tastes of the audience while retaining the
elements that put them into the genrein the first place. (Goodykoontz Jacobs, 2014) One specific

20. A Report On The Stirling Engine
The Stirling engine, noted for its high efficiency, converts heat energy to mechanical work. A
typical Stirling cycle consists of four phases compressing cool gas, heating the gas, expanding the
hot gas, and finally cooling the gas before repeating the cycle. The engines can run on heat from
solar, geothermal, biological, nuclear sources or waste heat from industrial processes, can be built
to run quietly and don t produce any emissions. In contrast to other solutions used in solar thermal
technology, Stirling engines don t have an inherent mechanism for storing heat. Stirling engine
based combined heat and power plant (CHP) fuelled with biomass represents a technological
breakthrough within onsite renewable energy generation. A system working on biofuel is a step
towards utilisation of clean energy source. In biomass type wood chips and waste wood pallets are
used which is environment friendly.
Ideal Stirling Cycle
The Stirling cycle is a thermodynamic cycle that describes the general class of Stirling devices.
This includes the original Stirling engine that was invented, developed and patented in 1816 by
Reverend Dr. Robert Stirling with help from his brother, an engineer [1]. The ideal Stirling
Cycle consists of 4 individual processes with end points as marked in the Fig. 1[2]. Here the
isothermal compression stroke (process 1в†’2) takes place by removing heat, Q12, from the
working fluid in order to keep the temperature at a constant low value, TC. Figure 1: p V

21. Essay On Reconstruction After The Civil War
From April 12, 1861, to May 9, 1865, the United States had one of its bloodiest conflicts that it
was ever involved in. The Civil War was a war between the North and the South of the United
States. During this war, there were around 620,000 men that were killed. This war ended after
Confederate general Edmund Kirby Smith surrendered his troops. At this point the fighting had
ceased, however, the tensions between the North and the South were still present. There were still
disagreements on the rights of the now freed blacks. After the Civil War, there was a question on
how the South would re enter the government of the Union and how the southern states were going
to view the blacks. This time period after the Civil War where these questions were answered is
known as The Reconstruction and lasted from 1863 1877. During this time period, President
Lincoln was murdered and President Johnson was impeached. Congress also made major additions
to the Constitution that they thought would bring equality to the South. These changes caused a
backlash and whites tried to get back to the way things were before the war when whites had all
the power. Despite a few positive outcomes, this era of reconstruction of the South ultimately failed.

failed to protect the freed slaves. This era put the blacks into a poor economic and social situation
and did not achieve equal rights for all citizens. The Reconstruction Era left the South with a

The presidency of 44th US President Barak Obama has been marked with rather prominent and
significant shifts in policy, reverberating throughout many areas of the country. One of the
president s most controversial proposals that has yet to be fully acted upon is providing a pathway
to citizenship for undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States. Supporters of the
legislation point to a variety of moral and economic reasons to justify their position while opponents
retaliate with their own concerns about the fairness of this policy action. For many against this
pathway, citizenship is a delicate conceptual idea that already has a clearly defined pathway within
the United States. Citizenship is often a rather subjective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can further be argued that Aristotle is solely interest in the actions of the citizen in regard to
their virtue than simply their relative nature or disposition. In order to have a great appreciation
for biology, it could be argued that one should have a basic understanding and appreciation of
the cells that compose all life on Earth. In the same vein, a chemist might be more appreciative of
chemical reactions when they are able to understanding the reactions happening at the molecular
level between the elements involved. Much in the same way, Aristotle as an appreciator of the
state attempts to gain a better understand of what makes up that state by proclaiming, a state is
composite, and, like any other whole, made up of many parts; these are the citizens, who
compose it. (Arist. Pol. III,1, 2). When trying to demystify the term of citizenship, Aristotle is
quick to dismiss multiple commonly associated definitions. For example, many would assume
that living in a state is enough to make one a citizen of said state. However, as Aristotle argues,
there are a variety of people that live in the state such as women and slaves that do not have the
ability to exercise certain political rights and also lack the ability to be a citizen. This definition can
generally be agreed upon even when relating it back to the world today where numerous people can
live in a state but not be citizens, such as the aforementioned undocumented immigrants in the

One thing that people can say is that everyone desires to have a place to sleep, eat and live.
Many people like the idea of having a place they can call home. One organization, Habitat for
Humanities, has made ownership a possibility for anyone who desires to have it. For years
people have been searching for a less expensive way to begin their journey out of their
predicament of not having their own place to lay their head. Nothing can ever come without
hard work though; to become a candidate for owning a home, people have to go through
numerous classes and engage sweat equity . This organization has changed the lives of over a
million families in over 1,400 bases internationally. Where this great organization came from is
the real question. The answer, an idea; before the idea came a feeling or motion that one person

In Unit 1, we are introduced to database systems. For your written assignment: Construct an E R
diagram for a car insurance company whose customers own one or more cars each. Each car has
associated with it zero to any number of recorded accidents. Your response must be complete and in
your own words with conclusion and title page.
Analysis Considerations
I have chosen to stick closely to the three entity requirements as outlined in the Assignment
Statement since this course is about how to do an E R diagram rather than a mandate to build a
perfect car insurance system. Initially entities, attributes, constraints, and comments are captured in

My academic interests throughout the years have really changed and evolved as I have matured
as a student. Since I started school, I ve always had an appreciation for academics and the
various subjects that I learned. I would attribute this to the fact that I was able to work with and
learn from students, teachers or friends that were passionate about a particular subject, helping
me understand a subject s value even if it did not particularly interest me. By having this
exposure during my formative years where I learned to think independently, I came to cherish
my own education in addition to realizing the importance and value education can hold for
others. As I grew older and began to think for myself, I developed an affinity towards math and
science. I would attribute this to the fact that my mind is more analytical than creative, leading
me to find interest in areas of study that progress logically and introduce concepts that can be
built on top of each other. Once I got to high school, the science classes that I took started to
utilize concepts from mathematics and vice versa. I was particularly interested when concepts and
ideas stemming from a variety of fields were put together in order to accomplish something
practical. I began to seek out articles and videos online to further develop my knowledge of
technology and scientific phenomena. At the end of my junior year, I was motivated to seek out

Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to show how the economy of China has, and is changing, becoming the
second largest economy in the world today. Although China is currently under the leadership of Xi
Jinping, this essay will concentrate primarily on the actions undertaken by then President Mao
Zedong, followed by then President Deng Xiaoping, (sans mention of Hua Guofeng). Given the
relative infancy of Xi s assumption of power, economic policies still remain largely rhetorical in
form. Likewise, the majority of literature concerning economic policies under Xi are largely
speculative, often citing strategies and ambitions as opposed to thereby, lacking a solid basis for
rational induction In addition to China s lack of transparency, In addition, it will be shown that the
methodology behind the Chinese economy demonstrates the implementation of varying levels of
the characteristics associated with the schools of Realism, Marxism and Liberalism. Thus, China s
approach to global trade in the 21st Century is pluralistic, testamentary to the failed economic

32. Utilization Rates of Pedestrian Bridges in Kuala Lumpur
Introduction
Traffic congestion and air pollution are becoming growing problems in many cities in Malaysia. In
order to discourage automobile dependency, and increase pedestrian activities particularly for short
trips, the government has begun to promote non motorized travel options by improving pedestrian
facilities that promote an assured level of convenience, comfort, and security for potential users.
One of the facilities that have been provided by the government is the pedestrian bridge.
A pedestrian bridge or footbridge is a bridge constructed for pedestrians and sometimes for cyclists
and bikers as well. It reduces the conflicts of traffic flow between the pedestrians and the vehicles
by separating them. Hence, it helps in overcoming accidents and offers safety.
However, due to the added travel distance, most of the pedestrians normally avoid using these
bridges. This in turn, adds to traffic congestion and accidents that involve pedestrians.
For the purposes of this research evaluation, the site selections are around the city of Kuala
Lumpur.¬¬
Background to the Study
Pedestrian bridges may offer safety and protection to the users but pedestrians often avoid using
these facilities. According to the survey that has been conducted by H. Rizati, Siti Zaharah Ishak,
Intan Rohani Endut (2013), this is due to several factors. They are the added travel distance, the
location of the facility, and the vehicle volume. Pedestrians prefer to utilize pedestrian

33. Dulce Et Decorum Est By Jessie Pope Analysis
War Poetry Comparative Essay
The saying dulce et decorum est pro patria mori comes from the roman poet Horace in Ode
III.2.13, it translates back to how sweet and fitting it is to die for one s country. When Dulce Et
Decorum Est was first written in 1917, it was directed at the poet Jessie Pope, then the
dedication changed to a certain poetess . However, this dedication was never published as
Wilfred Owen wanted the poem to reach everyone and not just Pope. Pope was a famous WW1
poet best known for her pro war, motivational poems, her most famous being Who s for the Game .
The themes in Dulce Et Decorum Est (DEDE) are war, death and patriotism. Who s for the Game
(WFTG), has the same themes of war and patriotism, but also sports and ... Show more content on

Patriotism is a large part in any piece of war poetry, the two we are analysing show to very
different beliefs. WFTG is very patriotic almost jingoistic whereas DEDE is cynical towards
patriotism. In WFTG lines 16 17 Pope writes Your country is up to her neck in a fight // and she
s looking and calling for you with an emphasis on you . Most lines in this poem start with who ll
and then finally in the last two lines of the poem it changes from who to you. No longer who
will do it, who will save people, now it s changed you will do it. Linking back to the patriotism in
these lines. It personifies the country, as a damsel in distress figure. Something the man can
save, become a hero. But not only this, the use of your this gets the reader to believe that
England is their country and they have to protect what s theirs. Thus using patriotism to get men
sign up for the war without them knowing it. As mentioned earlier Owens view of patriotism in
DEDE are very different from Pope s, almost the exact opposite. This, however, was probably
due to Owens own experience in war, seeing the suffering that he writes about in Dulce Et
Decorum Est . Much like Pope, Owens last lines show his true feeling when it comes to
patriotism. These lines are most likely aimed at Pope, the lines being My friend, you will not
tell with such high zest // To children ardent for some desperate glory // The old lie: Dulce est
decorum est // Pro patria mori. The words in this extract are so harsh and bitter. The word
desperate implies the war is pathetic, not real glory, a pathetic glory. The patronising use of
friend really shows the reader that this poem is not aimed at them but someone else. Owen is
saying to Pope how can you tell these boys, who are so excited for this great war, so prepared to
die, that it is sweet and fitting to die, for your country, when this is what death is in the war. How

solanine
It is a glycoalkaloid. It is a poison. It is present in the nightshade family i.e Solanaceae especially
in species tomato and potato. Solanine is found naturally in many parts of plants e.g tubers, leaves
and fruits. It also has pesticidal and fungicidal characteristics. It also act as a natural defence
system of plant. Firstly it was extracted in 1820 from a berry i.e Solanum nigram.
Solanine poisoning and it s symptoms primary symptoms of solanine poisoning are neurological
and gastrointestinal disorders.
Other symptoms may be vomiting, burning of throat, nausea, cardiac dysrythmia, diarrhea,
nightmare, dizziness, stomach cramps and a common symptom headache.
Hypothermia, fever, dilated pupils, hallucination, paralysis and losss of sensation occur in very
severe cases and somtimes death can also accur.
Way of action
A result of a study show that the mechanism of solanine toxicity is mainly due to it s chemical
interaction with the membranes of mitochondria. It is shown by experiments that when solanine is
exposed, it result in opening of pottassium channels of mitochondrial membrane, in it s result the
membrane potential is decreased and then Ca 2+ are transported from mitochondria to the
cytoplasm due to which concentration of Ca 2+ is increased in the cytoplasm which result in the
apoptosis i.e cell death and cell damage.

ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS
If you systematically question the significance and use of existence you are a philosopher, either
amateur or expert. Ethics is the division of philosophy that asks how nation supposed to live their
lives and how they ought to act good and right to each one. Animal ethics is equal but contains
animals. Robert Garner in his book Animal Ethics says Animal ethics look to examine values that
are apprehended concerning the moral standing of non human animals. (Audi, 2010).
Our correlation with animals is based on values we take in from our background and social way of
life. We recognize these values, frequently on conviction from our seniors, without testing or
studying them. But unexamined values when performed can do massive destruction everybody
has a few contact with animals straight or not directly, either agricultural or shooting animals,
eating them, providing food to their pets factory farmed animals, going to the zoo, by means of
weathered substances on animals or washing with animal based soap. Hitherto the largest part of
nation do not understand the pain and damage people inflict on animals since it goes mainly out of
view and where it peaks on top of the surface it is endured as usual.
Here is the point. The damage humans are doing to animal s amounts to a holocaust that we have
to take in hand (Audi, 2010). If we are to make refined evolution we have to understand what we

Due to the global implications of some decisions made by Volkswagen, governing boards should

leadership of that product should also be at a global scale. Collaboration may never be achieved

If standards are uniform, it would allow for concentrated research and development of vehicles that
would benefit the world. Understanding that not all nations will participate, the most influential and
largest consuming nations will be empowered by the benefit of consolidated and uniform rules.
Imposing Worldwide Environmental Penalties
If emission standards and other vehicle operating regulations are globalized, then the penalties
implied on car makers should also be globalized. The impact would be immediately greater,
making compliance so much more important. Violations, such as the emission deception, do
impact the entire world, therefore, penalties should also be at a higher unified level to assist with
resolution and re standardization when needed. A global voice will be much more powerful,
moreover, the additional worldwide penalties would not eliminate or reduce each individual
countries penalties. Penalties would have to be closely monitored so as not to cripple a company
overall.
Recommendations for Consumer Protection
Governing boards must empower consumers with needed tools to make safer business decisions. If
tools are given to the consumer to protect their purchases from car makers, consumers would more
comfortably recover from product issues and continue purchasing. For some consumers, the impact

In the modern era, travel and tourism industries seem to go beyond the mere need of attracting
sizable visitors by incorporating macroeconomic and non customary variables to earn monetary and
non monetary benefits. Cost is an important aspect of growth and profitability in an organization.
Organizations lose money because of heavy costs and they require decreasing the cost for better
profits. Sale and cost has direct relation because as the sales volume increases, total cost of the
entire production also increases. However, at the same time, as the quantity of sales increases, cost
of production decreases so as to achieve economies of scale. In addition, the assignment elaborated
three key pricing strategies including rack rate, seasonal pricing and Last minute pricing that
seemed appropriate for WHG. Moreover, management accounting information is a process through

An educated person can be described in many ways as to what makes them smarter. In the essay
The Marks of an Educated Man, Butler puts his point across as to what he believes should be the
characteristics for an educated person. The use of one s language must be used very well if he
wants to project himself as an educated man. To show others how smart you are, you need to be

40. The Socratic Methods In The Apology By Socrates
After reading The Apology, I decided to respond about how Socrates used the Socratic Method
during his trial. Socrates, using this method, crafted a personal defense against the allegations laid
upon him and, at the same time, Socrates led Miletus to trap himself as a part of that defense. I
believe that Socratesdecision to defend himself in this manner brings up some important
considerations. First, Socrates using the Socratic Methodas an integral part of his defense not only
unraveled most of Miletus support, but Socrates was able to showcase his wisdom to the people
of the court to show them what kind of person Socrates was when he acted as he usual did.
Secondly, Socrates, through his attack on Miletus showed the people of the court the potential
threat that Socrates could have been this entire time had that been his focus. Both of these
considerations are possible only because Socrates used his method of questioning to craft a
defense for himself. To add context to my response, I shall give a brief description of the
Socratic method. According to the textbook, the Socratic method is a conversational method that
proceeds by means of a series of questions and answers... (Text). The goal of this method is to
force the person being questioned to evaluate their originally inadequate responses and to work
toward clearer answers brought on by thinking more deeply about what is being asked. This
method allows a person to grow not by being given the answers, but by

41. The Capitalist Economy Through A Critical Lens
Throughout our Communication Studies, we have examined the capitalist economy through a

Understanding inequalities in London s life expectancy and healthy life expectancy is a document
that summarises data, that has been collected over various years, by the Public Health Outcomes
Framework (PHOF) in regards to life expectancy and inequalities (London Knowledge and
Intelligence Team. 2014).
The data within this document could be considered as a valid and reliable outlook into London s life
expectancy because it is a published document by Public Health England which is a health
organisation. The publisher is reputable and therefore it is deemed as being trustworthy (Public
Health England. 2013). Furthermore the information has been collected and analysed by
professionals. Validity of the document is reinforced as the data given does reflect life expectancy
within a given borough (Office For National Statistics. Unknown).
The information and statistics they have gathered are more than likely correct however there are
various factors that could have influenced the results. Average income within an area has been
gathered by tax authority records and is shown within the Slope Index , although people may be
guilty of tax avoidance or the answers they give may be false due to mistakes which could cause
the results to be considerably different to the reality (TaxAid. 2015). A census may also be
responsible for the data gathered, however a census is only conducted every ten years so the results
may change dramatically within that time span (Office For National

43. Being A Tough Climb By Adam Lambert
Adam Lambert says, Being different is always going to be a tough climb. What do the stories
from the Pixar people tell us about what it is like to be a kid and be on that tough climb? Pixar
people is trying to tell us that being different is okay and if you stay true, strong, and loyal to
yourself and you will create happiness and self esteem within yourself. They explained how
being gay and coming out was extremely difficult but no matter how hard things may seem
things will get better if you start thinking about the future and not just the things that are
happening now. Everyone in life goes through some type of struggles in life and there is always
someone in the world that is experiencing the same things that you are What can we do to help
the kids who are different, for whatever reason? How can we help them feel less alone? We can
talk to them and tell them that being different is what makes them who they are. I would also
explain to them that being strong and realizing that not everyone in the world accepts people who
are different but then there are those who do. That is why they must befriend people who are
similar to them and accepts them for who they are. Because changing themselves for the sake of
others will not contribute to their happiness. I think that letting kids know that are loved and that
you there for them when things are difficult in life gives them the feeling of support. And this is
what a child needs in order to stay strong and think positive.

44. Self Assessment IIi And Vi
Self Assessment III and VI In self Assessment III the first sections talks about what type of
organizational system I would prefer. Organizational Structure is a system that defines the levels
of hierarchy within an organization. The organizational structure classifies each job, explains its
function, and who it reports to within the organization. Based on my scores they suggest I prefer
to work in a mechanistic structure rather than a organic structure. In a mechanistic structure
people work separately and specialize on only one task. Also within a mechanistic the hierarchy
of authority is well defined. The first section also measures my ability to delegate in the work
place. According to my score I need to substantial improve on my ability to delegate. Based on
the analysis delegating authority are what many managers have difficult doing. My ratio for
being able to give feedback is a four out four. This means my self perceived strength and
weakness are equal, but I could work to improve ratio to be more self perceived in strength. In the
section labeled careers it indicates that I my preferred organizational culturethat informal,
humanistic, flexible, and innovative culture. These traits fall under humanistic culture even thought
my other score suggested I prefer a mechanistic structure. It also indicates that I m not that
committed to my job since my score falls below the mean. This is ok since not being committed to
ones job is the new norm than it was

have anti malware programs and data is not backed up. Physical security is also weak without
alarms, sprinkler, and cameras. The most secure networks combine hardware, software and physical
security methods together, offering the most protection to all users of any network.
Our plan will include network security, which will protect the network. It will protect the usability,
reliability, integrity, and safety of the network and data. Plan will also include host based security
system. These will include applications to monitor detect, and counterattack against the hosts
networks and systems. There are many types of security methods can be used to secure a network.
Network and host Security components will be,
Anti virus on each computers
Firewall and Virtual Private Network(VPN) to block unauthorized access to the network and
provide secure remote access
Wi Fi Protected Access 2 for the wireless security Firewall is a basic and easily implemented
methods of the network security (software based). It will allow authorized access to computer while
blocking unauthorized access by configuring access conditions based on user defined rules, IP.
VPN will be used to encrypt connection across a network while using the internet as transmission

46. Questions On Fixed Income Securities
To properly analyze fixed income securities, we established six major factors to consider. First is the
security s depth of the market. Have there been significant changes in the market since the financial
crisis? The second factor is the main players in the market. This includes issuers and buyers of the
financial instrument along with any other servicing institutions. The third reason, the purpose of
the investment. Fourth is the current condition of the financial instrument s secondary market.
How active is it? Are there transaction costs? How are the instruments priced? The fifth factor is the
risks in the investments. Last but not least is the sixth reason which is the financial instrument s
valuation. How should intrinsic value be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
GICs are not traded and nontransferable without the explicit written consent of the issuer. There are
two basic types of GICs issued. The first is participating GICs which involve investors to receive a
variable rate of return. Thus they are literally participating in the risks and rewards resulting from
the fluctuations in the interest rate. When interest rates are expected to rise in the future,
participating GICs become attractive to benefit from the expected rise in the interest rate. Different
from participating , nonparticipating GICs offer a fixed rate of return. This makes nonparticipating
GICs more attractive when market interest rates are high to lock in the high fixed rate of return for
the life of the investment contract. The change in the market for guaranteed investment contracts
since the financial crisis continues to be mixed. GICs have become as popular as other investments
like stocks and bonds. With the rising of interest rates and decreasing concerns about the credit
merit of the insurance companies issuing the contracts, traditional GICs have had a steady growth
within the last decade. The total amount of new GIC business done in 1982 was about $8 billion.
Today, the annual figure is somewhere between $35 and $40 billion Guaranteed Investment
Contracts are marketed by insurance companies, which are considered nonbank financial
institutions. They are usually Collective Investment

49. The Negro Speaks Of Rivers
Langston Hughes was an American poet, novelist, and playwright whose African American themes
names him a primary contributor to the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. After moving from
several cities, Hughes and his mother finally settled in Cleveland, Ohio. During this time, Hughes
began to write poetry. One of his teachers introduced him to the poetry of Carl Sandburg and Walt
Whitman, both whom Hughes would later cite as primary influences.
By the time Hughes was enrolled at Columbia University in New York, he had already launched
his literary career with his poem The Negro Speaks of Rivers in the Crisis, edited by W.E.B.
DuBois. He also committed himself to writing mainly about African Americans. Leaving Columbia
in 1922, Hughes spent the next three years in a succession of menial jobs and traveling abroad. He
returned in late 1924, but by then he was well known in African Americanliterary circles as a
gifted young poet. Early on he was heavily influenced by the works of Walt Whitman and Carl
Sandburg. Black poets Paul Laurence Dunbar, a master of both dialect and standard verse, and
Claude McKay, a radical socialist who also wrote accomplished lyric poetry influenced Hughes as
well. However, Sandburg, who Hughes later called my guiding star, was decisive in leading him
toward free verse a radically democratic modernist aesthetic.
Langston Hughes rose to prominence during the Harlem Renaissance. His first two books, The
Weary Blues (1926) and Fine Clothes to the

51. The Death Penalty Is The Punishment Of Execution
The death penalty is the punishment of execution, administered to someone legally convicted of a
capital crime (law.cornell.edu, 2015). The first Congress of the United States authorized the federal
death penalty on June 25, 1790 (deathpenalty.org, 2011). The death penalty can also be referred to
as capital punishment, however capital punishment also includes a sentence to life in prison, as
opposed to strictly executions. A convict can be sentenced to death by various methods including
lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber, firing squad, and hanging. After the death penalty was
established, many debates have arisen arguing that these methods violate several of the United
States Amendments. Select cases have been accused of violating the Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth
Amendments. It is important to note that the judiciary goes through a series of processes prior to
deciding a sentence for a capital crime. Many factors influencing the verdict include proportional
analysis, individualized sentencing, method of execution, and classes of people not eligible of the
death penalty. This paper will discuss brief descriptions of the methods used for executions,
economical issues, the Supreme Court s opinion regarding the death penalty, as well as important
factors that make up the proportional analysis, individual sentencing process, method used, and
determining classes of people who are not eligible for the death penalty. Less popular methods that

52. The Extreme Right in Britain Essay examples
The Extreme Right in Britain
Introduction
Perhaps, one of the highly debated issues in the electoral procedures of different European nations
is about the extreme right. Based on the premise that the nation is the primary unit of social and
political organization, extremist nationalism has been revived since the demise of communism.
Unlike civic nationalism, which stresses equality and solidarity, the exaggerated, chauvinistic, and
aggressive nationalism of the extreme right upholds the significance of the nation and national
identity against any other value. Each person is defined by membership in ancient ethnic and
cultural groups that are hierarchically arranged according to the natural order. In the extreme rights
view, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since then, several political parties have failed to generate much support, like the Dutch
Centrumdemocraten (CD). But overall, the newly emerging variants of the extreme right did not
suffer the much anticipated periodical decline (Epstein 21). They endured and even doubled their
electoral turnout over the last two decades. Therefore it has become difficult to dismiss them as
temporary and secluded (Hainsworth 10).
Several developments highlight and substantiate the thesis that the extreme right has re established
itself as a significant political actor in several Estern European democracies including Great Britain
(Rensmann 93). Extreme and radical populist right parties are far from being a short lived,
transitory, and temporary protest phenomenon that is temporarily endorsed by alienated voters
lacking identifiable beliefs; they have largely consolidated their positions in the electoral landscape
and beyond. Although in many cases, extreme right actors remain somewhat at the fringe of the
political system, they have often succeeded in stabilizing or broadening their constituencies, turning
new voters into loyal voters, creating militant extremist milieus and generating nationalist, anti
immigrant movements across Europe. In Great Britain, there
