Mental Endurance in Endurance Shackleton s Incredible Voyage
Mental Endurance in Alfred Lansing s Endurance Shackleton s Incredible Voyage
In Endurance Shackleton s Incredible Voyage, Alfred Lansing recounts the tale of one of the
greatest successes of the Twentieth Century. Ironically, Lansing s detailed account of the 1915
Trans Antarctic Expedition illuminates the stark reality that Sir Ernest Shackleton s expedition did
not fulfill its goal. In fact, the expedition never even set foot upon the continent that they had
intended to cross. The outstanding success of that motley crew of adventurers was in their ability to
endure the harsh Antarctic climate. Despite having their ship crushed by an ice cap, spending the
dark Antarctic winter hopelessly alone, suffering through a stormy voyage in ... Show more content

In order to endure, one must get along with himself to prevent the self pity that cripples the human
organism, and he must also cooperate with his peers unless he wants to abandon any help he might
have received from the resourceful human community around him. There it is then, Shackleton s
indefatigable trait, the positive attitude that permits people to explode through obstacles by the
means of cooperation of mind, body, and peers.
While I am not as experienced in the faculty of endurance as Shackleton was, my trials as a
distance runner have bequeathed me with a concrete idea of what endurance is. My debilitating
cramps, my slogs through mud pits that were formerly legitimate trails, and my stomach emptying
wretches on the side of the sizzling track have enstilled in me the prerequisite for a belief that what
I am doing really matters. When I fail to maintain a positive mental attitude, my exhausted legs
slow in their powerful dance; they simply refuse to go any faster as the blanket of apathy
envelopes me. Although my running horror story pales in comparison to Shackleton s epic of
frostbite and starvation, the workout early on a rainy Saturday morning in November required
that I suck it up and believe in what I was doing. I had already run three one mile repeats at a
ridiculously fast rate of speed over the trail with the biggest hill in site. When Coach asked

A Study on Conservative Resurgence
Conservative Resurgence (Order #A2065848) For many years the Republican party and its
conservative base was the central point of blame for the economic woes that had occurred in
America during the Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and his liberal Democratic party
were portrayed as the saviors of the United States economy and the only intellectual and political
tradition that remained for America. However, the social excesses, political instability and
economic turmoil that the liberals of the late 1960 s and early 1970 s created, led to a resurgence in
conservative thinking. Americans began to reject the complete dependence on the government, and
the inefficiency and corruption associated with it, in favor of a more independent and politically
conservative way of thinking. As a result, 1980 saw the election of Ronald Reagan, a hard core
conservative Republican as President of the United States. Reagan s victory over then President
Jimmy Carter signaled a distinct resurgence in conservative values and political activity. In the
1950 s, Lionel Trilling, famous literary critic and writer, stated that in the United States at this time
liberalism is not only the dominant but even the sole intellectual tradition. (McPherson, 2008, p.30)
This belief was maintained throughout the 1960 s and 1970 s within the American intellectual and
political community. In addition, the conservative opposition to the civil rights movement,
although for constitutional reasons, had

Historical Background of The Color Purple, I know why the caged bird sings, and The Awakening
In a stereotypical society, the reader expects for the protagonist of a novel to be a strong, heroic
male who saves the day and gets the girl. However, in the classic works The Awakening (Kate
Chopin), The Color Purple (Alice Walker), and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (Maya
Angelou), a different kind of protagonist is portrayed. In these novels, the protagonist is a heroine
who grows throughout the novel into a strong and independent woman. The heroines all seek to
overcome a series of obstacles in the search for her identity. Even though the female characters have
different individual quests, they all prove themselves and grow ... Show more content on

Bertha Flowers, helps promote the shy Maya s individuality. It is a similar case in The
Awakening , in which another woman, Mademoiselle Reisz, is responsible for the search for
independence in Edna Pontellier. Edna sees how Mademoiselle Reisz lives her life for her
passion, music, and Edna starts to follow her footsteps. Celie from The Color Purple has female
figures that help her realize her potential, as well. A blues singer by the name of Shug Avery helps
Celie grow into her independence. Female relationships in all of the novels provide a sanctuary for
women from overbearing male figures. In The Color Purple and I Know Why the Caged Bird
Sings , the quest for individuality and confidence ends happily. Celie becomes independent
emotionally and financially, and Maya gets over her idea that she is ugly and becomes confident
and starts a family. Edna also grows independent, but this freedom leads to her solitude after she
leaves her family to seek a new relationship with another man, who in turn leaves her. The males in
each novel tend to be dominant over women, expect obedience, and sometimes abusive. In The
Awakening both main male characters, LГ©once Pontellier and Robert Lebrun know that women
are subservient to men. LГ©once, Edna s husband, always does what society demands, and he
shows his idea that Edna is his property

This essay explores the mutually beneficial commercial collaborations between the tobacco
companies and major motion picture studios from the late 1920s through the 1940s.
Smoking in movies is associated with adolescent and young adult smoking initiation. Public health
efforts to eliminate smoking from films accessible to youth have been countered by defenders of
the status quo, who associate tobacco imagery in classic movies with artistry and nostalgia.
Both the entertainment and tobacco industries recognised the high value of promotion of tobacco
through entertainment media.

Product and brand exposure in films is the result of paid product placement, the provision of free
products as props, or personal use by actors. Product placement implies a mutually beneficial
relationship between the filmmaker and the manufacturer of the product. Initial contact may be
made by the filmmaker seeking to reduce costs, increase income, and provide realism or it may
be made by product placement firms seeking product exposure for companies they represent.
Product placement firms have evolved over the last two decades to broker relationships between
filmmakers and corporations. The usual procedure is for the product placement firm to receive
scripts in advance of production from filmmakers and review the scripts for the possible use of
products they represent. Normally this involves substituting a specific brand for a generic brand
that is, instead of John meets Mary at a coffeehouse , John might meet Mary at Curt s Coffee. The
integrity of the script is maintained, a touch of realism is provided, the filmmaker has an existing
location for filming, and Curt s Coffee receives extensive free exposure. The film cast and crew
may also receive free lattes and muffins and possibly Curt s Coffee mugs. The product placement
firm receives its fee for making the placement, and everyone connected with making the film wins.
While the tobacco industry has routinely denied active involvement in

Advantages Of Boarding High School
It is of vital importance for students to decide to go to a boarding high school or go to a high
school where students still live with their families. A boarding high school is a high school which
all of the students live in during the school term. Nowadays, boarding high schools become more
and more popular. Because parents think boarding high schoolis safer than day schools. To my
mind, boarding high schools are more helpful for students to grow than day schools. And it would
have a great impact on the educationand lives of the students. This essay will discuss the benefits of
boarding high schools compared to non boarding high school.
First of all, boarding high school will give students more chances to improve their social abilities. ...

A research showed that students can spend more time in studying instead of walking home
(Zachariah and Joshua 1). Everyone is not born smart. Practice makes perfect. Students in boarding
schools can better arrange their own time of study and do not have to accommodate oneself to
family. For example, in boarding high school, students could choose their favorite time to eat. And
they will not be interrupted when learning. But at home, if the food is ready, the students must go
to eat at once. Also, parents behavior would affect children s study. Some parents like to smoke,
drink and watch TV at home. Students without self control would slack off, even get bad habits.
Gradually, their learning efficiency will decline. Therefore, students in boarding high schools could
enjoy having high learning efficiency without the bad influence of others. In addition, study
facilities are very useful for students study. Such as library and laboratory. According to a study,
boarding high school might deliver better study facilities and study guidance for students
(Zachariah and Joshua 1). These are good resources that the non boarding high school students
cannot gain. Therefore, boarding high schools learning environment is better than day school. It is

Clean A Car Clean Car
If you own a car that is getting dirty you may be looking for a way to learn how to clean a car.
Believe it or not, cleaning a car is actually a lot easier than you might think. However, if you do
not clean a car properly then you will not get the most out of the time that you spend cleaning
your car. Many people think that it is only important to clean the outside of a car. The fact of the
matter is that it is important to clean both the inside,or interior, as well as the outside of a car. To
start off, you should clean the exterior of your car. It will help if you have a hose that you can use
to clean a car with because you re going to need a lot of water. To start off, just spray down your car
with a general spray of water. This will get you started on your way to having a sparkling clean
car. After you have sprayed your car down with water you are ready to move onto the next step of
cleaning your car. The next step of cleaning your car involves putting soap on your car. If you want
to, you can purchase automotive soap from your local auto store. It is extremely important for
you to spend at least five minutes covering your car entirely with soap. After your car is covered
with soap you can spray down your car with your hose. This will allow you to wash off any soap
that may exist on your car. If you want to learn how to clean the car you must realize that you
might have to do a little bit of dirty work. Even after putting soap on your car, there may be some
dirty spots

Citizen Vs Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence is of major importance to the history of the United States, and the
same is true for the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen regarding the history of
France. Both documents were the start or major change within each of the countries. The
Declaration of Independence stated the colonies were no longer under Great Britain rule, but
instead they were now their own free country. In France the Declaration of the Rights of Man and
the Citizen was written to limit the power and authority of the crown and government. Although the
documents express different concerns there are still distinct similarities between the two. The

because there was a problem with what was going on within each country. The Declaration of the

Declaration of Independence was written because the king of Great Britain had abused his powers
and making the colonists suffer. Each country wrote the documents because they had a problem

Silicon Valley Stereotypes
Zero point four percent of women in colleges and universities are majoring in Computer
science.(Khazan 1). No other industry in the world has such a skewed uniformity such as the tech
world, and no television show captures this uniformity like Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley is based
on the Northern California region with the same name which is considered the mecca of the tech
world home to large companies such as Apple and Google. Unfortunately Silicon Valley contains
many negative stereotypes about women. The first harmful stereotype in the show is the portrayal
of women as only love interests for the male characters. The second negative stereotype is that

This skewed representation has raised many alarms in outside circles on why the tech industry
deals with such uniformity. In the show Silicon Valley this stereotype of women not being leaders
is subtly perpetuated throughout the series. In episode one we are introduced to two companies
that are competing against each other. The first company is Hooli incorporated which has a male
CEO, looking closely in the boardroom the only gender represented is male, however the only
females present in the office are the female secretaries. The same uniformity is present in the
competing firm, male CEO, male president, male board members, and female secretary. Throughout
the entire first season not one woman holds a position in leadership, and when we are introduced
to a female character she usually holds a position working as an assistant to one of the male
characters. Silicon Valley deals with the issue of not injecting women into higher power position,
unfortunately many of these stereotypes are found in many industries around the world. The
portrayal of women as being incapable of being good leaders leads to a male dominated
managerial system. A study conducted by the Wall Street Journal finds that Only ten percent of
directors at Silicon Valley are women. (Wells 2) this glass ceiling keeps women from reaching
position that they are fully qualified for, just because they are perceived to be ineffective

Muscle Spasticity
The spasticity is considered the main problem as it will cause the affected muscle constantly in
contracted state, hence limited the range of movement of the affected joint. Spasticity is defined as
a velocity dependent increased resistance to passive muscle stretch, or alternatively as inappropriate
involuntary muscleactivity associated with upper motor neuron paralysis (GOLDSTEIN, 2001 and
SANGER et al., 2003). Muscle over activity produces muscle shortening and muscle shortening
increases spindle sensitivity. Thus, Stephanie will feel extreme pain and struggle whenever the
affected muscle is being lengthened unconsciously or fast. This will severely affect her functional
activity like not able to move freely as a normal child. For example, Stephanie already has grade 3

SCIANNI et al. (2009) explained that the weakness in children with CP can be due to both the
disturbed neural mechanisms and the muscle tissue changes. Most investigators believe that the
low power production is related to the inadequate co activation of antagonist muscles, decreased
or inadequate motor unit discharge, secondary myopathy and disturbed muscle physiology. This
abnormal kyphotic posture that caused by muscles weakness can lead to shifting of COG to

Underwater National Parks Research Paper
Underwater National Parks Underwater national parks were created in order to preserve the sea
life seeing as how we haven t explored ninety five percent of our oceans. Their focus is isolating

inhabit the parks. While the animals are taken care of, the national park ensures protection for the
history that lies within its waters. Underwater national parks are crucial because of the marine life
that inhabits it and the history and culture that the parks preserve. According to Oceans for youth,
1972 was the year in which legislation opted to create the first underwater national park. It was
named Title III of the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries of 1972. National parks, which
were created to conserve natural, historical, and cultural values, lacked funding and support.

APA Style Analysis
APA Style Sample
APA (American Psychological Association) style is primarily used in the social science disciplines.
It is formatted like MLA, and shows many similarities, but is unique in several key points.
APA uses parenthetical (or in text) citations within sentences, but rather than indicating the author s
name and page number, APA includes author s name and dateof publication. The page number,
represented with a p. or a pp., is only added to the citation when using a direct quote (not a
summary or paraphrase). If the author s name is mentioned in the sentence, then place the date of
publication in parentheses directly after the name. If the name is ... Show more content on

All of the interviewees have been called exceptions to the norm (Strong amp; Porter, 1998, p. 565).
Note the first example paraphrases an author that is named in the sentence, the second example
paraphrases authors that are not named in the sentence, and the third example provides a direct
quote (thus the inclusion of the page numbers) but also does not identify the authors within the
sentence. If the authors were identified within the sentence in the third example, the authors names
would be followed by the year of publication and only the page numbers would be in the
parentheses at the end of the quote.
Finally, the bibliographic page in APA style differs from MLA, what APA calls the Reference page.
You will notice a few immediate differences from the MLA Works Cited format. With APA you
include the initial of the author s first name rather than the complete name, the publication date
immediately follows the author s name in parentheses, and titles of articles are not surrounded with
quotation marks (however titles of books, magazines, journals, etc are still underlined). The lists
are still alphabetized by author s last name (or title in the absence of an author) and the first line is
flush left while subsequent lines in the same entry are indented in (approximately 5 spaces or one
tab). For journals and magazines, publication title and volume number are both underlined,

Imagery is a primary literary technique a poet uses to capture the readers or listeners senses. We

The oxymoron of the pipes in stanza two contrast the real from the ideal and appeals to aural sense
of readers, Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter; therefore, ye soft pipes, play
on . We gain the ability to almost touch, taste and feel the images in the poem through Keats vivid
descriptions of silken flanks , parching tongue , burning forehead in the third and fourth stanza. The
poets overall use of imagery, diction and assonance throughout this poem once again allows readers
to exercise their sense uniquely through their reading of Keats poetry.
A rich autumn atmosphere greets the reader in Keats To Autumn . Vivid imagery arouses the
interests of readers while appealing to their senses individually. The poets resounding use of
assonance creates a rich and elegant depiction of autumn throughout this piece. His emphasising
of consonant demonstrates an appealing sound to the reader s ear. The use of the letter m adds
an essence of the smooth flowing sense of the seasons to this poem, Seasons of mists and mellow
fruitfulness, close bosom friend of the maturing sun . Stanza one is a very visual and sensory
experience creating the setting of the poem as a sensual event. Towards the end of this stanza a
sensation of touch is provoked with the description of warm days and clammy cells . The soft

Citibank Case Analysis
Introduction: Through reading the article titled Citibank: Performance Evaluation and performing
my own in depth case analysis, I was able to analyze the issues Citibank California was confronted
with and determine possible solutions to help run their business more successfully. Although
Citibank is a well run corporation that made necessary improvements in an effort to gain a
competitive advantage over their main competitors, Bank of America and Wells Fargo, a main area
that needs improvement is clear: customer satisfaction. As Frits Seegers, President of Citibank
California, identified, without improving customer satisfaction, the extreme success ... Show more

In other words, Citibank s strategy in California was to build a profitable franchise by providing
relationship banking combined with a high level of service to its customers (p. 76). Like most
businesses, customers expectations rose with their net worth, in addition to providing a greater
profit margin for the company itself. While financial measures typically were the way Citibank
measured success in the past, they recognized a need to measure customer service as well and thus
developed a Performance Scorecard. The six different types of measures the Performance Scorecard
evaluated were: financial measures, strategy implementation, customer satisfaction, control, people,
and standards. By developing this Performance Scorecard, Citibank believed they could better
analyze where each branch needed specific improvements and where each branch was excelling.
Citibank felt it was necessary to update the previous evaluations to include non financial measures
because they recognized that these measures may in fact be more critical to the long term success
of the franchise. As a result, by adding the non financial measures to the current measures, Citibank
was able to reflect competitive dimensions in the bank s strategy.
Citibank Issues: After performing an evaluation using the Performance Scorecard, Seegers
recognized the need for increased customer service at their most important branch. Through their
measurements of customer satisfaction,

Signs Of The Deaf Community Sign Language
American Sign Language There are thousands of languages spoken all over the world and
hundreds spoken across the United States of America, but what about the language that isn t
technically spoken? The ability to speak in order to communicate is a privilege that most forget
they have. Imagine the struggle of the injustice a person was served losing their ability to hear or
speak normally. It s heartbreaking because communication is so vital to a person s life. However,
imagine a system that allows these people to communicate without much problem. This system is
actually classified as its own languageand it s called Sign Language. Sign Language a language that
helps many with disabilities, and those who don t have disabilities, communicate with each other.
However, despite its huge impact on the deaf community Sign Language still has some room for
improvement. Just like other languages though, there isn t just one form of sign language. There
are many types and variations of sign language based on environment and location. But the most
commonly used and most commonly heard of would be American Sign Languageor ASL for short.
For the purpose of this essay, we ll be discussing American Sign Language. Sign Language dates
all the way back to 1620 when a man named Juan Pablo Bonet wrote a series of essays on what
he believed be the appropriate manner of communication with the deaf. His essays showed his own
system of language for the deaf including an alphabet and a series of

Designing A Product And Operation Procedures
In terms of future career, the case study equips me with the knowledge necessary to design a
product and operation procedures that brings the best out of the entity by offering consumers non
compromised products and services. Value adding draws the difference between the best
organizations and those that are lagging behind. Today, technology is a highly essential element of
the businesssetting. It changes with every wake and consumers would like to know that their
favourite entity is doing enough to stay at pace with current trends and ensuring their convenience.

Other projects where I can manifest my knowledge in as far as adding value is concerned are
projects related to boosting consumer loyalty and building a good market share. Therefore, it is
imperative that I don t look at the case study as something that comes and go, but as something that
provides me with knowledge necessary to handle future projects that I might encounter in the
course of my studies. What I have learnt since the first case study and how I would have improved
the learning experience?
From the first case study, I have learnt various elements of the external and internal business
surrounding. In terms of external environment, what stands out is the significance of external
environment scanning in the day to day entity operation. What stands out in as far as the internal
environment is concerned is the role that adding value plays in the modern business. What I would
have done differently during the process is an analysis of more organizations and industries.
Conclusion drawn from a wider scope of information sources is more reliable. Therefore, an
improvement to the earning experience would significantly involve increasing the number of
organizations and industries covered. Other learning would involve direct interaction with experts
in the field of external environment scanning and adding value. This will avail a more practical
overview of the two.

The ability to make decisions may fluctuate with someone with dementia due to the changing

determine their mental state, for example if a person with dementia is tired or is put into a
stressful situation they can find it very difficult to comprehend what is going on and become
frustrated and confused therefore hindering their ability to make a decision. Knowing the persons

Perfection and Artha meaning to have a goal, so the overall meaning of Siddhartha is the one

Siddhartha is not considered to be a god; he is just a person and only is considered to have

and at that time Siddhartha became very unsatisfied with his life despite having family and

himself why these things like illness, death, poverty are happening. He decided to leave the
palace in the middle of the night. When everyone was sleeping he went to his wife, gave her a
goodbye kiss and left the palace seeking the liberation from the cycle of rebirth. Him leaving
wealth, family and home is known as going for the Great Renunciation. For the next 6 years he
wandered around India studying with the greatest Hindu gurus, and mastered the Hindu practices
that normally leads to Renunciation. He is still dissatisfied with his life; he didn t find what he was

she is who I want to become. As time going by, I chose law as my major and future career as

Family Values In American Family
In 1840s, Asian American community began to be formed when a large number of Chinese
immigrants arrived in the United States as contract laborers. Immigration from Asian countries has
increased since 1970s. The two types of Asian immigrants coming to America at this time were
voluntarily immigrants and refugees. While Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese are immigrants who came
to the United Statesfor business purposes, Vietnamese, Laos, and Cambodian are refugees who tried
to escape their countries in the World War II.
The majority of Asian Americanfirst generation come from a strong tradition of extended and
kinship ties. Although these ties are disconnected during migration, they have been quickly
reconstructed to shape family patterns in the historical periods (Zhou 29). Contemporary Asian
immigrants from different countries of origin mostly come with their families. They also bring their
cultures and values in their home country to the United States. There are some common family
values in the Asian American family that are distinguishable, such as emphasis on the centrality of
the family, filial piety, respect for the elders, and reverence for tradition and education. While these
traditional values offer a strong moral basis sustaining the Asian American family, they have often
clashed with dominant American cultural values and have caused emotional pain and detrimental
consequences in the family and community (Zhou 30). Other than that, when the first wave of

Invention
To do a rhetorical analysis of this speech we would follow the Neo Aristotelianapproach. The Neo
Aristotelian approach consists of five canons which are invention, organization, style, memory
and delivery. First I will start off with Invention. According to Foss the critic s concern in
applying the canon of invention is with the speaker s major ideas, line of argument, or content
(29). Invention is divided into two categories: external proofs and internal proofs. External proofs
include sources used by the author but does not create, including testimony of eyewitnesses (Foss
29). I will focus on the internal proofs of this speech, which are logos or logical argument; ethos,
the appeal of the speaker s character and pathos, emotional appeal. In the speech of The Challenger
Disaster Reagan does not necessarily present an argument, but rather a speech to console and find
meaning. He starts the speech by recognizing the terrible accident that happened nineteen years ago
and relates it to The Challenger disaster. The events are factual and therefore are logical to be
included in the opening of this speech. To begin the

Society s Failure To Achieve The American Dream
The image of an American Dream is that anything can happen. The idea that anyone can be
successful or pursue success. Satisfaction and happiness can be only be attained through the
quality of their own life. Americans were raised in a society that tells them they can be anything
they want as an adult. In a disproportionate American society, success is largely based off of
power and financial stability. The dream, the illusion, is something that hopes to ease the pain of
the dry reality that money has taken over one s happiness. The need to be financially stable has
caused society to work in professional positions that will never satisfy them, that leave them
unhappy and unsatisfied. Do to the influence of money, society has chosen to sacrifice happiness
in hopes of the ability to obtaining the American Dream. People work at jobs they hate to earn an
income that will only chase the ever elusive American Dream illusion. Society today has made the
American Dream an illusion driven by a monetary success. It has made the American standard for
everyone to make it big become rich without doing very little work. Although that one could dream
of success, not everyone can be rich and famous; hard work does not guarantee their success, little

The Differences Between Beowulf And Dennis Covington Quests
Beowulf and Dennis Covington Quests
Beowulf was a hero from geats and was a warrior that fought in many battles. But beowulf was a
strong leader to his men and for that his men stayed loyal to him. Dennis Covington was a
journalist, he went to war because he was an adrenaline junky. After coming back from the war he
wanted to find himself so he started going to a snake handling church. There is a lot of differences
between beowulf and dennis covington, but there is also some similarities between beowulf and
dennis covington. Some of the differences between dennis covington and beowulf is that dennis
covington wanted to be in danger all the time, while Beowulf has a quest for fame and attention
from the people. Dennis covington first started to become different after the war. Dennis said I
became a journalist in El Salvador. And something else happened to me down there. It was more
than learning a new trade and a new language. In El Salvador, I found the antidote for a
conventional life: I got the crap scared out of me. I haven t been the same since (Covington 52) .
Beowulf starts his quest After beowulf defeats grendel Beowulf s doing were praised over and

past, linked a new theme to a strict metre. The man started to recite with skill, rehearsing
Beowulf s triumphs and feats in well fashioned lines, entwining his words (Beowulf 866 873) .

those two years, I had been drawn by chance and inclination into a close relationship with the
handlers. I had come to admire them and to respect their faith. In the process, I had even taken up

he felt while being shot at in war. Dennis said I knew that I had a need to experience ecstatic

Spiritual condition evaluation
Throughout the life of my person of interest, knowledge of the existence of a creator has had a
crippling effect in his struggle to reconcile his perception of life and the great desire for divine
approval and acceptance. This is a result of the common belief that moral and spiritual development
is attained through the shedding of dogmatic belief structures, resulting in the elimination of God
towards the attainment of self realization.
Strangely, although the secular aspect is quite vividly seen in his way of life, the religious
references and biblical allusions cannot be ignored. Despite the lack of cultivation and learning
in the morals and ethics of Christianity, he is able to form his own code of behavior based on
example and the behavior he views from others. It should be noted that his instinctive sense of
morality comes without knowledge of God or a creator and while this may seem to be an atheistic
or at least secular way of thinking about how morality is inborn it is impossible to ignore the way
the Bible and religious learning influence even this aspect of his life.
It would seem that he views other people as closer to God, not simply because of his own
isolation, but because he witnesses their apparent ability to function in a world of God. This is
seen on his act of acquiring a sense of morality through observation of behaviors of others

Ten Days That Shaped America
1) May 26, 1637 The Mystic Massacre of the Pequot War On May 26, 1637, English settlers
under Captain John Mason, and Narragansett and Mohegan allies set fire to a Pequot fort near the
Mystic River. The fort only had two entrances, and anybody that tried to flee the fort was shot by
awaiting enemies. The only Pequots that survived were those who had followed their sachem
Sassacus in a raiding party outside the village. This attack on the fort almost entirely wiped out the
Pequot population and resulted in them eventually losing the war. As a result of this the 1638 treaty
of Hartford was signed, stating that all remaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were the people that agreed with the Butler Act, and those who thought it was completely
absurd. As a result of this, public school teachers are now not even allowed to discuss religion in
the school, except for educational purposes. They are not to allowed to say one religion is bad, nor
are they allowed to say that their religion is better than others. This law still stands today.
8) July 16, 1939 Albert Eintstein sends his letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt urging him to explore
nuclear weaponry On July 16, 1939, at the insistence of Leo Szilard and Eugene Wigner, physicist
Albert Einstein sent a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, warning the President of Nazi
Germany s scientific research of the atomic bomb. His letter would acknowledge Roosevelt of the
importance and the danger of this type of weapon in the hands of Adolf Hitler. Roosevelt
immediately created the Advisory Committee on Uranium. After some time had passed, Einstein
was forced to send another letter to Roosevelt because the government was not fully funding the
committee because LeГі SzilГЎrd and Eugene Wigner were both born outside of the U.S. and were
considered possible security risks. Roosevelt immediately ordered the government to give them the
needed funds, and this brought about the Manhattan Project. After realizing the bomb would likely
be used, Einstein regretted sending the letters to Roosevelt. Although a pacifist,

The Concept Of Self And Selflessness
The concept of self and selflessness is prime to all Indian philosophies. Two of India s most
popular religious systems, Jainism and Buddhism, teach renunciation of the self in order to reach
Samadhi and Dharma (i.e. enlightenment, breaking free from the cycle of rebirth and correct
living) (Collins, 1990). While Jainism vehemently espouses denial of self, both as an ideological
concept and as a tangible reality, Buddhismteaches renunciation of self by way of still using the
self as a vehicle for such understanding. While this may seem paradoxical, Buddhism uses the Four
Noble Truthsto espouse how the mind and sensory system can be used by the budding Buddhist to
learn that the phantasmagorical and phenomenological aspects of the world are truly illusory. In
this sense, Jainism represents absolutist denial of the self while Buddhism represents paradoxical
renunciation of the self by way of utilizing the self towards understanding the porous nature and
falseness of such a construct. Thus, many Indian philosophies take the denial of the self as a prime
tenet of life. However, the gradations between such systems are intriguing, as is the case with
Jainism and Buddhism. The religious and philosophical system of Jainism defines the self as a
flimsy and false construct that acts as a liaison between the dense matter of the body and the
immortal and perfect aspect of the soul residing within the body. The self holds true to the concept
of samsara (i.e. transmigration, rebirth

Psychological Concepts In The Lion King
The movie The Lion King demonstrates exceeding amounts of psychological concepts, theories
and principles as shown in the movie. There is a few of which we talked about in class that takes
place during the movie in which will be stated below, even though there are tons more that could be
talked about. The creators of the filmknew what they were doing when they were putting together
the animation movie, sliding in all the psychological concepts as possible in a little childs film.
When a child is watching the movie they do not think about, or even know any of the concepts
/theories on what is going on. These are things such as the prosocial behavior, guilt/shame,

Mufasa was the brother that was more extroverted, he had the throne, the strength, and all the
good looks. Throughout the scenes in the movie you could see Mufasa had a personality of
someone that was a strong, proud, and the dominant ruler of his kingdom. He was willing to
protect his kingdom prepared to fight when he thought Scar had challenged him. He did all of
that until his death, dying when recusing Simba from the stampede of wildebeest. He puts his
trust into his brother who very easily betrayed him. Scar was the more introverted brother, he
was much smarter than Mufasa, but didn t have the looks, and his longing for the throne made
him very deceptive. He produced the plan to at first kill his nephew, and then his brother. The
first plan to kill Simba was by tricking him into going out into the elephant graveyard to be
attacked and eaten by the hyenas. When that didn t work he came up with the plan to kill
Mufasa by not actually having to do it himself, giving the hyenas instructions when to create the
stampede in which he had placed Simba right down in the middle of, knowing Mufasa would try
to save him, because that is his son. These two brothers were very different Scar had a dark side
going on while Mufasa was more of the bright light. One could say the message is that it it is
brawn over brains which gets you money, power, and respect in the world we are living in

Federal Budget Deficit Analysis
Federal Budget Deficit Projected to Soar to Over $1 Trillion in 2020 The annual budget for the
Federal Government is predicted to increase over the next few years. In fact, it s supposed to
surpass $1 trillion dollars in 2020, even though the economy is growing at a healthy rate, the
Congressional Budget Office says. The national debt has gone beyond $21 million and even goes
from there to past $33 trillion in 2028. By then, the public s debt will almost match the size of the
economy. It ll be at 96% which is higher than post World War to and past the crisis point. Some
economists think that increasing deficits will bring interest rates up, expand private sector s
borrowing costs, and prices of tank stock. All this will decrease the growth... Show more content on

A deficit in economics is when there is a surplus over expenditures in a certain time period. Here in
the article, the government spent more than what the budget allowed. The government controls
government spending and doesn t affect investments and consumption. Social insurance programs
are talked about in the article. These are programs from the government (transfer payments) meant
to protect families for economic hardships. Examples of these transfer payments mentioned in the
article are medicare and social security. This relates to fiscal policy and government transfers
because it is a government transfer. Fiscal policy is also the use of taxes, government transfers or
purchases made by the government that shift the aggregate demand curve. Expansionary fiscal
policy increases aggregate demand and the factors that contribute are a tax cut, increase in
government transfers and an increase in purchases in goods and services by the government. We
see those factors throughout the article as it talks about growing deficits because of the Social
Security and Medicare. Expansionary policy is incorporated into the article when the budget office
discusses the prediction of high interest rates so Americans will purchase more

The Battle Of The Pacific War
The date is June 4, 1942 and raging in the blue Pacific Ocean around a small atoll named
Midway, a battle is being fought for survival and complete victory. Late in the day on June the
4th, United States Navy helldivers scream down from the heavens to rain hell upon the Japanese
fleet carriers below. Within minutes, three of the Imperial Navy s great carriers are sent to the
bottom of the Pacific in great fireballs. The massive destruction was wrought by the well known
Douglas SBD Dauntlessdive bomber of the Second World War. The slow but deadly SBD
Dauntless served the United StatesNavy well for most of the Pacific War and was eventually
replaced by the newer and improved SB2C Helldiveror simply the beast . These two planes share...

Within the cowling, there were two forward firing .50 caliber machine guns for the pilot. In the
rear seat the radioman gunner was equipped with two rearward facing .30 caliber machine guns
nicknamed the stinger by the gunners. In 1943, the Navy slowly started to replace its aging
Dauntless with the newer Curtiss SB2C Helldiver. Despite the United States Navy replacing the
old Dauntless with the Helldiver in 1943, the Dauntless continued to serve proudly with the
United States Marine Corps for the rest of the war. The Curtiss SB2C Helldiver was first
introduced into combat with the Unites States Navy in November 1943. However, the design
was first thought up in May of 1939 to replace the obsolete SB2U Vindicator and the old but
reliable SBD Dauntless dive bomber. When the first prototype models came off the production
lines, there were several major problems with the design, which delayed its entry into official
service with the United States Navy. The Curtiss Helldiver design was a modest step up from
the older SBD Dauntless. The basic principle of the dive bomber did not change with the
introduction of the Helldiver. The SB2C was equipped with dive flaps, but on the first models the
flaps were solid and caused buffeting when going into the high g dives. This was later changed to
perforated dive brakes that improved the diving performance of the aircraft. Just like the SBD
Dauntless, the Helldiver was crewed by two

Protecting Children from Television Violence Essays
Summary #1
Television violence, and media violence in general, has been a controversial topic for several
years. The argument is whether young children are brainwashed into committing violent real world
crimes because of violent and pugnacious behavior exposed in mass media. In his article No Real
Evidence for TV ViolenceCausing Real Violence , Jonathan Freedman, a professor of psychology
at the University of Toronto and author of Media Violence and Its Effect on Aggression: Assessing
the Scientific Evidence , discusses how television violence, claimed by the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC), does not cause real world aggression among adolescents. The FCC determined
to restrict violent television programming to late night hours ... Show more content on

Freedman argues that this concept, from the FCC, strictly bases their claim on intuition, not
scientific research. Freedman writes, Ultimately, it is the findings that matter not what people think
about them or tell you about them (Par. 8). There is not enough evidence to understand and know
the effects of media coverage of real violence, and how fictional violence affects real world
scenarios.
Evaluation #1
Television violence is not necessarily the problem with real world violence in today s society,
nor is violent video games, or explicit rap music. United States violence increased between the
1960 s to 1980 s, but has dropped dramatically, especially violent crimes committed by young
men, since 1992 (Freedman Par. 10 11). Although media violence is increasing, world violence is
decreasing; there has to be a reputable and scientific explanation on why these children are
committing violent real world crimes. There have been less than one hundred experiments
completed on this topic of choice, and possible evidence that observer bias may affect these
experiments. The FCC purposely schedule violent or provocative televisions shows during evening
hours of the night for a reason. Parents of young children, from ages seven through fourteen, should
not allow their children to watch these so called violent television shows or play these violent
video games. Certain television programs have warning labels clearly stating that, some material is
not suitable for

Reverend Dimmesdale Is a Sinner Essay
Arthur Dimmesdale has continually suffered because of the sin he has committed. He is tortured
by his only friend who is really his enemy. He grows weaker day by day because he will not
confess his sin. He starves himself and whips himself. He has a daughter but no one can know.
People look up to him and he does not want to let them down. If only people knew that he
committed adultery with Hester Prynne. In Nathaniel Hawthornes, The Scarlet Letter, the author
writes, While standing on the scaffold, in this vain show of expiation, Mr.Dimmesdale was
overcome with a great horror of mind, as if the universe were gazing at the scarlet token on his
naked breast, right over his heart. On that spot, in very truth was, and there had long been,... Show

Dimmesdale will not even be seen in public with Hester and Pearl. He wants to be able to be
with his daughter and the love of his life but then people would know that he committed adultery
with Hester. Pearl asks, Wilt thou stand here with Mother and me, tomorrow noontide? to only
hear, Not so, my child. from Dimmesdale in return (Hawthorne page 144). Dimmesdale not
being able to be with whom he loves is is a struggle. Dimmesdale is constantly harming himself
because of his sin. He whips himself on a regular basis feeling as if it is only right to punish
himself for his sin. He starves himself as well. Every time that he whips or starves himself he
grows weaker. Everyone sees him getting weak and they start to worry. He lives with the
physician so he should start to feel better but he constantly gets worse. The author writes, How
feeble and pale he looked, amid all his triumph! (Hawthorne page 238). Though Dimmesdale is
successful in his job his heart and body are failing him. He has done so much harm to himself all
because of his sin. Throughout Dimmesdale s life he has suffered because of his sin. There were
only a few who knew why he was suffering until the very end of his life. Roger Chillingworth
made Dimmesdale s life awful. Hester Prynne was the woman he loved but had to hide his
feelings for. Pearl was his daughter who never felt the full love of her father. Dimmesdale hurt

  • 2. Mental Endurance in Endurance Shackleton s Incredible Voyage Mental Endurance in Alfred Lansing s Endurance Shackleton s Incredible Voyage In Endurance Shackleton s Incredible Voyage, Alfred Lansing recounts the tale of one of the greatest successes of the Twentieth Century. Ironically, Lansing s detailed account of the 1915 Trans Antarctic Expedition illuminates the stark reality that Sir Ernest Shackleton s expedition did not fulfill its goal. In fact, the expedition never even set foot upon the continent that they had intended to cross. The outstanding success of that motley crew of adventurers was in their ability to endure the harsh Antarctic climate. Despite having their ship crushed by an ice cap, spending the dark Antarctic winter hopelessly alone, suffering through a stormy voyage in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to endure, one must get along with himself to prevent the self pity that cripples the human organism, and he must also cooperate with his peers unless he wants to abandon any help he might have received from the resourceful human community around him. There it is then, Shackleton s indefatigable trait, the positive attitude that permits people to explode through obstacles by the means of cooperation of mind, body, and peers. While I am not as experienced in the faculty of endurance as Shackleton was, my trials as a distance runner have bequeathed me with a concrete idea of what endurance is. My debilitating cramps, my slogs through mud pits that were formerly legitimate trails, and my stomach emptying wretches on the side of the sizzling track have enstilled in me the prerequisite for a belief that what I am doing really matters. When I fail to maintain a positive mental attitude, my exhausted legs slow in their powerful dance; they simply refuse to go any faster as the blanket of apathy envelopes me. Although my running horror story pales in comparison to Shackleton s epic of frostbite and starvation, the workout early on a rainy Saturday morning in November required that I suck it up and believe in what I was doing. I had already run three one mile repeats at a ridiculously fast rate of speed over the trail with the biggest hill in site. When Coach asked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Study on Conservative Resurgence Conservative Resurgence (Order #A2065848) For many years the Republican party and its conservative base was the central point of blame for the economic woes that had occurred in America during the Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and his liberal Democratic party were portrayed as the saviors of the United States economy and the only intellectual and political tradition that remained for America. However, the social excesses, political instability and economic turmoil that the liberals of the late 1960 s and early 1970 s created, led to a resurgence in conservative thinking. Americans began to reject the complete dependence on the government, and the inefficiency and corruption associated with it, in favor of a more independent and politically conservative way of thinking. As a result, 1980 saw the election of Ronald Reagan, a hard core conservative Republican as President of the United States. Reagan s victory over then President Jimmy Carter signaled a distinct resurgence in conservative values and political activity. In the 1950 s, Lionel Trilling, famous literary critic and writer, stated that in the United States at this time liberalism is not only the dominant but even the sole intellectual tradition. (McPherson, 2008, p.30) This belief was maintained throughout the 1960 s and 1970 s within the American intellectual and political community. In addition, the conservative opposition to the civil rights movement, although for constitutional reasons, had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Historical Background of The Color Purple, I know why the caged bird sings, and The Awakening In a stereotypical society, the reader expects for the protagonist of a novel to be a strong, heroic male who saves the day and gets the girl. However, in the classic works The Awakening (Kate Chopin), The Color Purple (Alice Walker), and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (Maya Angelou), a different kind of protagonist is portrayed. It is a similar case in The Awakening , in which another woman, Mademoiselle Reisz, is responsible for the search for independence in Edna Pontellier. Edna sees how Mademoiselle Reisz lives her life for her passion, music, and Edna starts to follow her footsteps. Celie from The Color Purple has female figures that help her realize her potential, as well. A blues singer by the name of Shug Avery helps Celie grow into her independence. Female relationships in all of the novels provide a sanctuary for women from overbearing male figures. In The Color Purple and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings , the quest for individuality and confidence ends happily. Celie becomes independent emotionally and financially, and Maya gets over her idea that she is ugly and becomes confident and starts a family. Edna also grows independent, but this freedom leads to her solitude after she leaves her family to seek a new relationship with another man, who in turn leaves her. The males in each novel tend to be dominant over women, expect obedience, and sometimes abusive. This essay explores the mutually beneficial commercial collaborations between the tobacco companies and major motion picture studios from the late 1920s through the 1940s. Smoking in movies is associated with adolescent and young adult smoking initiation. Public health efforts to eliminate smoking from films accessible to youth have been countered by defenders of the status quo, who associate tobacco imagery in classic movies with artistry and nostalgia. Product and brand exposure in films is the result of paid product placement, the provision of free products as props, or personal use by actors. Product placement implies a mutually beneficial relationship between the filmmaker and the manufacturer of the product. Initial contact may be made by the filmmaker seeking to reduce costs, increase income, and provide realism or it may be made by product placement firms seeking product exposure for companies they represent. Product placement firms have evolved over the last two decades to broker relationships between filmmakers and corporations. The usual procedure is for the product placement firm to receive scripts in advance of production from filmmakers and review the scripts for the possible use of products they represent. Normally this involves substituting a specific brand for a generic brand that is, instead of John meets Mary at a coffeehouse , John might meet Mary at Curt s Coffee. The integrity of the script is maintained, a touch of realism is provided, the filmmaker has an existing location for filming, and Curt s Coffee receives extensive free exposure. The product placement firm receives its fee for making the placement, and everyone connected with making the film wins. While the tobacco industry has routinely denied active involvement in ... A research showed that students can spend more time in studying instead of walking home (Zachariah and Joshua 1). Everyone is not born smart. Practice makes perfect. Students in boarding schools can better arrange their own time of study and do not have to accommodate oneself to family. For example, in boarding high school, students could choose their favorite time to eat. And they will not be interrupted when learning. But at home, if the food is ready, the students must go to eat at once. Also, parents behavior would affect children s study. Some parents like to smoke, drink and watch TV at home. Students without self control would slack off, even get bad habits. Gradually, their learning efficiency will decline. Therefore, students in boarding high schools could enjoy having high learning efficiency without the bad influence of others. In addition, study facilities are very useful for students study. Silicon Valley is based on the Northern California region with the same name which is considered the mecca of the tech world home to large companies such as Apple and Google. This skewed representation has raised many alarms in outside circles on why the tech industry deals with such uniformity. In the show Silicon Valley this stereotype of women not being leaders is subtly perpetuated throughout the series. In episode one we are introduced to two companies that are competing against each other. The first company is Hooli incorporated which has a male CEO, looking closely in the boardroom the only gender represented is male, however the only females present in the office are the female secretaries. The same uniformity is present in the competing firm, male CEO, male president, male board members, and female secretary. Throughout the entire first season not one woman holds a position in leadership, and when we are introduced to a female character she usually holds a position working as an assistant to one of the male characters. Silicon Valley deals with the issue of not injecting women into higher power position, unfortunately many of these stereotypes are found in many industries around the world. The portrayal of women as being incapable of being good leaders leads to a male dominated managerial system. Spasticity is defined as a velocity dependent increased resistance to passive muscle stretch, or alternatively as inappropriate involuntary muscleactivity associated with upper motor neuron paralysis (GOLDSTEIN, 2001 and SANGER et al., 2003). Muscle over activity produces muscle shortening and muscle shortening increases spindle sensitivity. Thus, Stephanie will feel extreme pain and struggle whenever the affected muscle is being lengthened unconsciously or fast. If the authors were identified within the sentence in the third example, the authors names would be followed by the year of publication and only the page numbers would be in the parentheses at the end of the quote. Finally, the bibliographic page in APA style differs from MLA, what APA calls the Reference page. You will notice a few immediate differences from the MLA Works Cited format. With APA you include the initial of the author s first name rather than the complete name, the publication date immediately follows the author s name in parentheses, and titles of articles are not surrounded with quotation marks (however titles of books, magazines, journals, etc are still underlined). While financial measures typically were the way Citibank measured success in the past, they recognized a need to measure customer service as well and thus developed a Performance Scorecard. The six different types of measures the Performance Scorecard evaluated were: financial measures, strategy implementation, customer satisfaction, control, people, and standards. By developing this Performance Scorecard, Citibank believed they could better analyze where each branch needed specific improvements and where each branch was excelling. Citibank felt it was necessary to update the previous evaluations to include non financial measures because they recognized that these measures may in fact be more critical to the long term success of the franchise. As a result, by adding the non financial measures to the current measures, Citibank was able to reflect competitive dimensions in the bank s strategy. It was more than learning a new trade and a new language. In El Salvador, I found the antidote for a conventional life: I got the crap scared out of me. I haven t been the same since (Covington 52) . Beowulf starts his quest After beowulf defeats grendel Beowulf s doing were praised over and over again (Beowulf 856 857) . Also after the people found out of what beowulf has done A thane of the king s household, a carrier of tales, a traditional singer deeply schooled in the lore of the past, linked a new theme to a strict metre. The man started to recite with skill, rehearsing Beowulf s triumphs and feats in well fashioned lines, entwining his words (Beowulf 866 873) . Dennis covington quest on finding himself after the war begins in a small church in Alabama. While he is searching for his quest he encounters a snake handling church where he finds what he has been looking for ever since he got back from El Salvador. He finally found himself In those two years, I had been drawn by chance and inclination into a close relationship with the handlers. I had come to admire them and to respect their faith. In the process, I had even taken up serpents myself (Covington 213) . But when he handled the snake he finally felt the adrenaline as he felt while being shot at in war. My research attempted to emphasize the actual role of social media and provide insight to Facebook as a tool instead of a stakeholder. The match that was able to ignite and unite the people of Egypt to act on their dislike of the regime and its corruption came with two men: Khaled Said and Wael Ghonim. On June 6, 2010, in Alexandria, two police officers approached Khaled Said and arrested him on the premise that the possessed a video material that implicates members of the police in a drug deal (Wedeman). Multiple witnesses from that day testified that the situation escalated and resulted in Saeed being dragged across the street by the police officers and beaten to death while doctors tried to intervene and revive him. • 42. The Concept Of Self And Selflessness The concept of self and selflessness is prime to all Indian philosophies. Two of India s most popular religious systems, Jainism and Buddhism, teach renunciation of the self in order to reach Samadhi and Dharma (i.e. enlightenment, breaking free from the cycle of rebirth and correct living) (Collins, 1990). While Jainism vehemently espouses denial of self, both as an ideological concept and as a tangible reality, Buddhismteaches renunciation of self by way of still using the self as a vehicle for such understanding. While this may seem paradoxical, Buddhism uses the Four Noble Truthsto espouse how the mind and sensory system can be used by the budding Buddhist to learn that the phantasmagorical and phenomenological aspects of the world are truly illusory. In this sense, Jainism represents absolutist denial of the self while Buddhism represents paradoxical renunciation of the self by way of utilizing the self towards understanding the porous nature and falseness of such a construct. Thus, many Indian philosophies take the denial of the self as a prime tenet of life. However, the gradations between such systems are intriguing, as is the case with Jainism and Buddhism. The religious and philosophical system of Jainism defines the self as a flimsy and false construct that acts as a liaison between the dense matter of the body and the immortal and perfect aspect of the soul residing within the body. Despite the United States Navy replacing the old Dauntless with the Helldiver in 1943, the Dauntless continued to serve proudly with the United States Marine Corps for the rest of the war. The Curtiss SB2C Helldiver was first introduced into combat with the Unites States Navy in November 1943. When the first prototype models came off the production lines, there were several major problems with the design, which delayed its entry into official service with the United States Navy. The Curtiss Helldiver design was a modest step up from the older SBD Dauntless. The basic principle of the dive bomber did not change with the introduction of the Helldiver. The SB2C was equipped with dive flaps, but on the first models the flaps were solid and caused buffeting when going into the high g dives. The argument is whether young children are brainwashed into committing violent real world crimes because of violent and pugnacious behavior exposed in mass media. In his article No Real Evidence for TV ViolenceCausing Real Violence , Jonathan Freedman, a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto and author of Media Violence and Its Effect on Aggression: Assessing the Scientific Evidence , discusses how television violence, claimed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), does not cause real world aggression among adolescents. Freedman argues that this concept, from the FCC, strictly bases their claim on intuition, not scientific research. Freedman writes, Ultimately, it is the findings that matter not what people think about them or tell you about them (Par. 8). There is not enough evidence to understand and know the effects of media coverage of real violence, and how fictional violence affects real world scenarios. Evaluation #1 Television violence is not necessarily the problem with real world violence in today s society, nor is violent video games, or explicit rap music. United States violence increased between the 1960 s to 1980 s, but has dropped dramatically, especially violent crimes committed by young men, since 1992 (Freedman Par. 10 11). Although media violence is increasing, world violence is decreasing; there has to be a reputable and scientific explanation on why these children are committing violent real world crimes. There have been less than one hundred experiments completed on this topic of choice, and possible evidence that observer bias may affect these experiments. The FCC purposely schedule violent or provocative televisions shows during evening hours of the night for a reason.
