(HCO32 ) and hydroxide (OH ) ions can be analysed and determined by titration with strong
standard acid solution. Volumetric titrimetry can be employed to compute percent compositions of
sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3), and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in a
soda ash sample through the application of neutralization concepts and titrimetric analyses.

Moreover, NaOH cannot replace Na2CO3 for it generally do not satisfy above requirements and
very hygroscopic in nature. On the other hand, 0.05 M HCl is called the standard solution. An ideal
standard solution[3] is (1) sufficiently stable to determine concentration, (2) reactive with the
analyte so that the time required between additions of titrant is minimized, (3) completely reactive
with the analyte so that satisfactorily end points are realized, and (4) selectively reactive with the
analyte that can be described by a simple balanced equation. The standardization of the titrant aims
to know the exact concentration of the titrant (its deviation from the measurement done). Two basic
methods are used to establish the concentration of standard solutions: (1) direct method, in which a
carefully weighed quantity of a primary standard is dissolved and diluted to an exactly known
volume in a volumetric flask, and (2) standardization by titrating (a) weighed quantity of a primary
standard, or (b) a measured volume of another standard solution. In the
experiment, the standard solution has been standardized using method 2b[3]. The standard solutions

Abstract. Supply chains are complex systems with silos of information that are very difficult to
integrate and analyze. The best way to effectively analyze these disparate systems is the use of
Business Intelligence (BI). The ability to make and then to process the right decision at the right
time in collaboration with the right partners is the definition of the successful use of BI. This
chapter discusses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, despite the huge investment in SCM software systems, they did not provide desired
Return On Investment (ROI). The main reason is that these systems mostly provide only
transaction based functionality. They lack the sophisticated analytical capabilities required to
provide an integrated view of the supply chain. This is where Business Intelligence (BI) tools like
data warehousing, ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Loading), data mining, and OLAP (On
Line Analytical Processing) can help adequately analyze operational effectiveness across the supply
chain. 1.1 Supply Chain Performance Measurement
Supply Chain Performance Measurement (SCPM) is vital for a company to survive in today s
competitive business environment. Performance measurement is one of the key aspects of
management. If a company does not have a clear understanding of how well its supply chains are
performing, it will be very hard to manage them successfully.

Standard Deduction
Introduction
Standard deduction is a provision of the United States federal income tax system, which serves two
purposes including a least amount amount of untaxed income, thus acting as an ingredient of
progressivity. Second, it provides a simplified alternative to the itemized deductions for tax payers
with comparatively low itemizable expenses, thus relieving them of the record keeping and
computational burden of itemizing deductions. Having one provision is a compromise to other but
it is a compromise that is unnecessary. (Samansky, 1991)
A base sum of income that is not focused to tax and that can be used to decrease a taxpayer s
adjusted gross income (AGI), a standard deduction can only be used if the taxpayer does not
prefer the itemized deduction method of calculating taxable income. The sum of the standard
deduction is based on a taxpayer s filing status, age and whether he or she is disabled or claimed
as a reliant on another person s tax return.
The major reason taxpayers exercise standard instead of itemized deductions is that taxpayers don
t have to keep track of every potential tax deductible expense throughout the year. Plus, a lot of
people find the standard deduction amount to be fairly generous and usually greater than the total
they could reach if they added up all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People often overlook or fail to record allowable tax deductions and keep their approach only for
the standard amount specified by the IRS. For instance, homeowners often pay more interest and
real estate tax than the standard deduction permits. Also, small business owners who have a running
home office often can incur additional tax deductions higher than the standard amount. Taxpayers
must keep accurate records along with actual receipts to itemize deductions. Failure to do this
makes the standard deduction a advantage but also may cost you a lot of money in tax

Comparing the Governments and Economies of China, India, Japan, and Korea The purpose of
this essay is to compare and contrast the government and economies of four countries in Asia:
China, India, Japan, and Korea. Topics that will be discussed are their governments, economies,
resources, and citizens. China China, officially the People s Republic of China, is a single party
state, meaning there is only one political party. China was founded on January 1, 1912. The per

Mostly, the citizens control the economy. Natural resources, such as coal, limestone, zinc, copper,
and gold, exist in great quantities. Agricultural products that are in production are fish, beans,
peas, wheat, and potatoes. Industrial products include construction materials, electronics, and
automobiles. Major imports include petroleum, coal, apparel, and gas. Major exports include
automobiles, electronics, plastic, iron, and steel. North Korea North Korea, officially the
Democratic People s Republic of Korea, is a unitary singe party state. There is only one political
party: the Worker s Party of Korea. North Korea was founded on August 5, 1945. The per Capita
GDP for the country is $1,700. The country has a supreme leader (head of state); Kim Jong un,
who was chosen by the Supreme People s Assembly. The premier (head of government) is Yon rim.
The national literacy rate is 99%. Also, the citizens roles are to follow laws and to be loyal to their
country. Citizens cannot vote and have very little say in the government. In North Korea, the
government strictly controls the economy. The economy is driven by its major natural resources,
agricultural, and industrial products. Natural resources, such as minerals, graphite, and coal, are
found, but not abundantly. Agricultural products that are production are grains, rice, and beans.
Industrial products include weapons and steel. North Korea has little

Halloween Night vs. Prom Night
Halloween Night vs. Prom Night Ghosts, princesses, superheroes, and so many other strange
characters are seen walking around during the night of October 31st, the night known as
Halloween. Halloween is the night most famously known for haunted houses, candy, black cats,
witches and ghosts. For one magical night a year, known as prom, teenagers get to feel and dress
like princes and princesses and to attend their first formal event before becoming an adult. For that
night, tiaras, limos, corsages, tuxedos and evening gowns are all the rage. Both nights are important
nights when growing up, and even though they are so different, they actually have some things in
common. Halloween night and prom are nights that have a similar, yet... Show more content on

Halloween is the one night a year children or teenagers can dress up and act differently. They
wear costumes and get to be a different person or thing for the night. Even though prom is not
celebrated on the same date every year, it is still one night of dressing up. Teenagers get to dress
up formally and also act differently for the night. The attire is usually formal unless the prom has
a certain theme that calls for them to dress up in costumes. The purpose of both nights is about
dressing up, but, the attire is different for both events. The second point of comparison is that
both are a night of social events. Depending on how each family celebrates Halloween it can be a
night for families to go out together and trick or treat together, or the children can go out with a
group of friends to go trick or treating. Many costume parties are thrown to celebrate the night and
there are many haunted houses to go through with friends or family. Prom night is an important
social dance event where teenagers in high school get together with their friends before and after
prom. Both boys and girls might get together before prom to get ready together and then take
pictures with friends and family. Before attending the dance they go out to dinner with their friends
and take a limo to the prom venue. Many parties are held after the prom to continue the night s
celebrations.

Paul Olsen Case Essay
The Paul Olsen case describes the situation for a decision that Paul Olsen needs to make. Paul
and Robert Rose devised a plan to open a piano bar in a new urban mall development in Pittsburg,
PA. If successful, Paul and Robert would add a restaurant and cafГ© at the same location to grow
their business. With three and a half months before opening, Paul did not have enough investors to
fund the startup costs, so he needs to decide whether to invest all of his student loan money
($12,500) to maintain the timetable for the opening.
Similar to the R amp;R case, the Paul Olsen case is about identifying risks and developing
strategies to manage that risk. By controlling risk, Paul is able to minimize his exposure to
potential losses if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the restaurant industry is perceived to have high risk of failure, the risk of a
restaurant failing is not too different from other small businesses. Parsa et al. quantified the risk
of failure at 26% in the first year and 57% by year 3. He also described several factors that can
influence the risk of failure. Those include physical location, firm size, speed of growth,
differentiation from other restaurants in the market, adapting to external trends, and management
experience. In terms of location and differentiation, Paul s bar will be located in a new
development designed to attract affluent customers and with very few competitors. Paul s small
firm size increases risk because of barriers to attract partners (i.e. suppliers and bankers are
prejudiced against smaller firms) and growth that may be too rapid to manage. On the other hand,
Robert already has experience in the restaurant business and should know how to run the bar and
subsequent restaurant. Their choice of a piano bar may be in response to local trends that favor
success.
A final question is whether Paul should apply his student loan money to the startup costs. Since his
living expenses and tuition are already paid by the Ford Foundation grant, the loan money is not
immediately needed. The contract in exhibit 3 shows that his services towards opening the bar are
valued at $17,500 in addition to the cash contribution. Therefore, his percentage claim towards any

The concept of American public broadcasting: promoting diversity in TV and Radio
The purpose of this paper is to re evaluate the history of American public broadcasting. Particularly
this paper focuses on an important female political figure and two organizations that contributed to
build the foundation of American public broadcasting. Analyzing each of their roles in building the

Unethical Behavior Of Police
In society we call upon certain individuals to help us in times of need or urgency. Sometimes
these individuals are police officers. As a member of society, I would like to be able to call upon
the police in a time of need since we expect them to protect and serve our community. However,
some situations can expose corrupt policeofficers partaking in unethical behavior while protecting
and serving the community. In this paper I will discuss the unethical behavior of a group of police
officers from Baltimore, Maryland. This is an ongoing investigation that keeps producing more
evidence of other officers partaking in unethical behavior.
ISSUES WITH THE OFFICERS ACTIONS
Baltimore Police Department had a special unit known as Gun Trace Task Force. This particular
unit was very successful in helping drop the gun crime in the Baltimore area. As recently as
October 2016, the Baltimore Police Department was praising the unit in an internal newsletter for
its work getting guns off the streets (Gile, 2017). The unit made more than 110 gun arrests in less
than 11 months last year (Gile, 2017). While these officers are being recognized for their excellent
work, they were committing their own crimes on the streets.
In March 2017, these same seven police officers from the Baltimore Police Department were
federally indicted by the U.S. Attorney of Maryland on racketeering charges (Rector, 2017). Sgt.

Abstract
A standard acid solution like HCl can be used as titrant for the analysis of both soda ash and a
carbonate bicarbonate mixture. In the analysis of soda ash, the volume needed to neutralize the soda
ash is used to compute for its alkalinity, in this experiment we obtained a 17.6 % alkalinity with an
error of 15.14% In the analysis of a carbonate bicarbonate mixture two indicators (phenolphthalein
and methyl orange) were used. The first endpoint determines the half neutralization of the carbonate

Three trials were made and the average percentage alkalinity was reported.
Analysis of Carbonate Bicarbonate Mixture For this experiment, a pH meter was used so this part
of the experiment began with the calibration of the pH meter with specified buffers. The buret was
then filled with the standard HCl solution and a set up for titration was prepared. 200g of the
carbonate bicarbonate solid sample was weighed and dissolved in 100 mL of distilled water. The
sample solution was then transferred into a 250 ml volumetric flask and was diluted to the 250
mL mark. The flask was inverted several times for uniform mixing. A 50 mL aliquot of the sample
solution was measured and placed unto a beaker. 3 drops of the phenolphthalein indicator was
added to the solution in the beaker. The electrode of the pH meter was then immersed in the beaker
and the solution containing the carbonate bicarbonate mixture was titrated with the standard HCl
solution to the phenolphthalein endpoint. Readings of the pH were taken at an interval of 0.5 mL
addition of the titrant. After the first endpoint is obtained, 3 drops of the methyl orange was added
to the same solution and was titrated with the standard acid until the formation of an orange colored
solution. Readings of the pH were also taken at 0.5 mL addition of the titrant. Results and Discussion

Essay about The War of 1812
The War of 1812
On June 18, 1812, the United States declared war on Great Britain. The peace treaty to end the
war was signed in Europe, 1814. The war lasted from 1812 to the spring of 1815 because there
was a delay in communications. It was fought along the Canadian border, along with several sea
battles. By the time the war was over the United States lost 2,260 soldiers, and the British 1,600
soldiers. The war of 1812 was a very significant event that took place in the U.S. It did in fact
confirm America s independence. That is why it is often referred to as the second war of
independence or the second revolutionary war.

The British maritime policy was influenced by it s jealousy of America s commercial growth. Even
though both France and Britain violated the United States neutral rights on the seas, the United
States resented Britain maritime policies more because they dominated the seas. The U.S. tried to
peacefully change the policies of the European powers. There would not be a British maritime
policy if it had not been for the war with France. The policy was intended to destroy Frances
economy.
During the Napoleonic Wars the Royal Navyexpanded to 175 ships of the line and 600 ships
overall, requiring 140,000 sailors. The Royal Navy turned to impressments when it didn t have
enough able bodies to man the ships. The Royal Navy went after Royal Navy Veterans or deserters
who had left and became sailors in the United States merchant navy by intercepting and searching
U.S merchant ships. Britain also considered any U.S. citizen born in British liable for
impressments. The inability to distinguish Americans from non Americans due to a wide spread of
use of false identity led to frequent impressments of Americans that had never been British. This
became a major grievance.
The United States attempted to change the European policies by the Embargo Act of 1807, after
the Chesapeake affair of 1807. The Embargo Act banned all American ships from foreign trade.

Hollywood and turned society into something that is unrealistic and artificial. Most things in our
society today are artificial, rarely is anything pure. If one was to look back in time societies

The Importance Of Artifice In Society
Although many people may like to think of America as a honest and moral nation, it is no secret
that artifice has cemented itself as an indispensable skill, exploited by many to achieve their own
ambitions. Artifice, characterized through the usage of cunning devices or expedients to deceive
others, is often utilized by politicians and organizations to help push their own agendas. As
illustrated by Chris Hedges in his social commentary, Empire of Illusion, artifice has emerged to
become so ubiquitous and essential throughout American society, whether in business or the
entertainment industry. Essential, in the essence that without it, people in any industry are more
likely to be disadvantaged in achieving their personal goals. In today s modern world, no area has
seen more abuse of artifice than in the field of media and politics. Its common knowledge that
newspapers skew reports to their own biases and politicians often tell half truths to cover up ulterior
motives. Unfortunately, these politicians and media giants hold extremely influential positions in
society, and their usage of artifice is extremely damaging to the integrity and accountability within
the United States. As a result, the press as well as the general populace must utilize free speech to
expose this behavior. Despite the complete immorality of the usage of artifice, such chicanery
remains essential for success in media and politics. Artifice generated through the media plays a
pivotal role in the spread

Psychological Factors Of The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was a distinctive conflict that had a particularly strong psychological impact
on those who fought in it. It was a complicated event that often had an unclear objective. Many of
the young men who were sent into combat lacked the type of patriotism that would have been an
important motivation. The confusion about their mission and the nature of their elusive enemy
made the mental toll much more pronounced. When they returned home, they faced a non
accepting society that failed to welcome and support them. The Things They Carried gives a
vivid image of how the nature of the war in Vietnam contributed to a more intense mental toll on
Veterans. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder occurs when someone loses their personal identity as
a result of distressing event in which their own life is at risk (Hochgesang 2). The two major
factors that contribute to the mental toll of war are pre war vulnerability and the severity of
combat exposure. The latter has a more important impact on how soldiers react immediately
following the war. Pre war psychological factors, on the other hand, may affect the long term
persistence of PTSD (Dohrenwend 12). The amount of mental stress that soldiers experience has
also been linked to how the war violates their personal beliefs and goals . People have pre existing
meaning making systems that allow them to feel a sense of purpose, and certain actions during
combat may disrupt them (Stegar 3). The distress after war requires people to begin

for all Americans to pay tax on every single item that they have used. The money collected by the
Stamp Act was to be used to help pay the costs of defending and protecting the American frontier
(A summary of the 1765 Stamp Act). With that being said, this money is being used for a good
cause. However, everyone has his or her own life. One cannot force someone to do anything that
is not of his or her will to do it. Although, the money is to be used for the debts that they owed and
it will be used towards protecting the American frontier, but it should not be an obligation for
everyone to pay for it. Moreover, the government is not trying to ask... Show more content on

A lot of people will disagree on the way that they are asking for help. They are asking for help the
wrong way, in order to get the help that they need, they will need to be more polite to the people
instead of making it an obligation for everyone. I do not disagree with the Stamp Act because it
is a really smart way of collecting money in order to pay past debts for a nation, but at the same
time, the people are also aware of the fact that they should not be the one responsible for such
thing. I would definitely help the government in this case, but they would have to come up with
a better way to portray those people into believing in what they are doing with the money. They
should try to persuade the people by saying, for example, I will need your support with your
money in order to help protect you. When you ask for something and you also give them some
benefits, then it will be a better way of receiving what you asked for. The bible says in Genesis

Role of Arbitration and Mediation in the Legal System
Part1: Arbitration and mediation In general, arbitration is a more formal method of alternative
dispute resolution than mediation. Arbitrators generally act similar to a judge and make
decisions about evidence and give written opinions, which can be binding or non binding
(Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law). There may be one or more
arbiters selected by both sides, or a third selected by the mutual arbiter. The methods deployed
are often very similar to that of a court room. In contrast, mediation is generally conducted before
a single mediator who does not judge the case but helps facilitate a discussion and eventual
resolution of the dispute (Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law).
Mediation has a high success rate, but this may be due to the fact that parties which select
mediation tend to be less polarized. Both forms of ADR can be advantageous, given that they
are less costly and also can keep the anger involved to a minimum. A compromise can be reached
that is mutually advantageous to both sides, and alternative solutions can be found that will not
necessarily be allowed in a more formal jury system. Mediation and arbitration can also be
embarked upon more quickly than a lawsuit, which enables the parties involved to engage in
dialogue before conflicts get out of hand. And in some disputes, such as divorce, there are often
many grey areas, with no clear, single person who is in the wrong or right.

Food gives the body vitality that is obliged to do everyday movement and work. However it is
what we consume and how we consume food that determines our social position, and can express

contributions that Free Community Meal services and other charity organizations impact the lives
of those families and individuals who struggle to provide the necessity, and endeavor to
comprehend the more extensive ramifications of administration procurement inside a neighborhood

Social service associations throughout New Zealand give the Free Community Meal services ,

Research Paper On Frederic Ozanam
Frederic Ozanam was a passionate and dedicated French scholar who channelled his spirituality
into improving the lives of others (St Vincent de Paul Boise, 2015). He accepted his social
responsibility as an individual, and acted through love and generosity in recognising the
importance of the lives of the poor in Paris in a time of such social and political turbulence.
Frederic Ozanam s desire for justice led him to establish the St. Vincent de Paul society, a charity
focused on providing assistance both materially and emotionally to the disadvantaged of society
(HISTORY OF THE ST VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY, n.d). His desire for success stemmed from

Ozanam s leadership style was one of great confidence in God, and introduced a more modern
way of thinking into the lives of humans a human approach to the challenges presented by a
growing economy and mechanical introductions. He emphasised the power of the individual and
strongly believed that by visiting one individual poor person daily, he could change the whole
worlds views on poverty (Buhagiar and Wilson, 2015). He was an effective leader because he
was courageous in his actions, was a strong voice for change, and was a practical witness of the
vision of the church, challenging many common beliefs (Buhagiar and Wilson, 2015). Frederic
challenged the normal functioning of society, and had authentic opinions commonly conflicted
within society, especially considering political and religious matters (Bugaiar and Wilson,
2015). He rebelled against the general view of society that those who were poor had inflicted it
on themselves and stood up for those who did not have a voice within society. Although he was
not easily trusted as a leader, he maintained confidence in God s advice and eventually gained
followers and believers, because of his beliefs and personal qualities (Hyatt, 2012). Romans 12:8

The Relationship between Culture and Religion in The Indus River Valley Civilization The rise
and fall of different civilizations and empires is caused by various social, political, and cultural
factors that affect its societies. One of the most important concepts seen in empires are the creation
of its culture and its relation to the beliefs of its society. Religion plays an enormous role in
understanding the purpose behind the actions of the people in a civilization. Religion and culture
are dependent of each other as it reflects the ideas and values that society has agreed upon. As a
new urban civilization during 2500 B.C, The Indus Valley Civilization created a sociopolitical

There is very little information about the religious beliefs in the Indus civilization. Artifacts that
were found in trading, such as the seals and ornaments, were interpreted as ritual objects.
However, there is little proof that they were used in worship of deities. Instead, their belief
system mirrored their structure of government. Kenoyer (1991) explains that the Harappan
culture was based on a socio ritual belief system. In this system, the seals, ornaments, and other
ritual objects that were traded between regions represented the regions of people using similar
objects. Similarly, burials sites and cemeteries showed patterns of every major region. However,
not all of the regions practiced burial. Therefore, these sites do not represent the belief of the
society. Some regions practiced cremation or exposure. Overall, the socio ritual belief became an
important part of the Indus society in which it reflected and maintained its social hierarchy within
different regions. This system of government and beliefs ultimately ended the Indus civilization
during what was defined as the Localization Era (Shaffer, 1991 as cited in Keynoyer, 1991). In the
article, Kenoyer highlights the causes of the downfall during this era. One of the major causes was
the expansion of settlements which in turn increased regional organizations. Because of this,
different regions fought and conquered other regions. Kenoyer provides an example of the regions

Current Schools Of Thought On Change Management
TASK 1 1.1 The analysis must include consideration of two current schools of thought on
change management and how they have contributed to organizational change Kurt Zadek Lewin
(September 9, 1890 February 12, 1947) was a German American analyst, known as one of the
advanced pioneers of social , authoritative, and connected brain research An early model of
progress created by Lewin portrayed change as a three stage process. The primary stage he
called unfreezing . It included overcoming dormancy and disassembling the current personality
set . It must be some piece of surviving. Barrier systems must be circumventing. In the second
stage the change happens. This is ordinarily a time of perplexity and move. We are mindful that
the old ways are constantly tested yet we don t have a reasonable picture with reference to what
we are supplanting them with yet. The third and last stage he called solidifying . The new attitude
is solidifying and one s solace level is coming back to past levels ology The idea of progress
administration is recognizable in many associations today however how they oversee change (and
how effective they are busy) changes tremendously relying upon the nature of the business, the
change and the individuals included. Associations that handle change well seem to flourish, whilst
those that don t may battle to survive. A key piece of this relies on upon how far individuals inside
the association comprehend and manage the change

Any parents thinking of divorce should be court ordered to watch Kramer vs. Kramer. If there is
even a slight chance of compromise after seeing it, they will stay together rather than inflict their
separation upon their children.
Everyone should see Kramer vs. Kramer, including parents and children of broken families. I
first viewed the movie only a short time ago and I was blown away at how pertinent it still is to
today s culture. This is an account of a man who falls in love with his son, more than a film about

As modern movie viewers, we re often presented with unrealistic child characters. We re used to

The World Is Not A Victory Of Freedom
We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom symbolizing an end as well
as a beginning signifying renewal as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty
God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago. The
world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of
human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which
our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe the belief that the rights of man come not
from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God. We dare not forget today that we are
the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and
foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans born in this century,
tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage and
unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has
always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any
burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the
success of liberty. This much we pledge and more. To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual
origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends.

Analysis Of Shakespeare s The Tempest
On Thursday 1st December 2016, the RSC s (Royal Shakespeare Company) production of The
Tempest was performed to an audience of around one thousand people at the Royal Shakespeare
Theatre in Stratford upon Avon. It was directed by the RSC s artistic director Gregory Doran,
whose version s aim was to break new boundaries in theatre making through its heavy reliance on
cutting edge technology to create magnificent spectacles and revitalise used tropes of past
productions. Being the first classical production to use live motion capture, Doran s imagination
severs Shakespeare s last play from some of its old ties and shifts it into the twenty first century.
The play begins in media res, enthralling the audience by immediately throwing them into chaos
and disarray from the very first scene. Martin Meisel states that the printed play acts as a manual
or a blueprint for performance and thus the RSC s performance, with its crescendo of thunderous
music, flashing visual projections and erratic lighting to mimic a storm brought the playwright s
words to life before the audience s eyes. It could be argued that the shipwreck in Act I Scene I
captivated the audience s senses by creating strong visual and auditory cues to invoke a sense of
enigmatic intrigue and perhaps fear at the frantic scene, placing them at the forefront of the
shipwreck itself. The spectacle of this nautical scene could also mirror the importance of expedition
and voyage during the 1600 s, whether such travels

BrontГ« has apposed them in every way, even the names indicate what kind of house we should

Introduction:
As computer became more commonly used in universities and research labs in the late 1960s, the
need of having high speed interconnections between computer systems within a small region
generated a new interest of Internet development. The initial motivation for building such
networks was generally to share storage and printers, which were both expensive at the time. Early
Local Area Networks development started in the late 1970 s by enthusiasts and commercial
companies. From that time until the present a variation of LAN s design has been offered in the
marketplace. However, in the late 1980 s people began to recognize Ethernet as the flavor of choice.
The following report will concern only Ethernet.
The figure in appendix shows the basic physical layout of a LAN. As illustrated, a LAN contains
various data equipment that all need to communicate with each other. A data equipment could be a
web server, a printer or a database. Each data equipment constitutes the users of the LAN. The
communication between each device is accomplished by sharing a common Transmission Medium.
The Transmission Medium is typically some type of cable. This cable provides transmit and receive
capability and all needed intelligence. Knowing the physical structure helps us to better understand
the potential requirements when designing a LAN.
When it comes to design a LAN, not only

The further off the rails Cassie goes, the more extreme the sexual situations, at one point courting

influences people s identity. (Op. cit. p.22) And at this point in the series we find that Cassie has a
very mixed up idea about who she is and what she wants.
This can also be seen in Season 1 when Maxxies best friend Anwar refuses to tell his parents
about Maxxies sexuality due to their religious beliefs. We see that Maxxie is torn between who he

Maxxie refusing to turn up to Anwars party. Gay adolescents who are more conventional in their

Essay On Why Was The American Colonists Justified In...
The American colonists were justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain for many
reasons. I believe this to be the truth because Great Britain did unlawful deeds against the
colonies including passing taxes, injuring the innocent, abusing their power, and not being able
to reason with the American colonist. Some of these actions were out of greed while some were
out of spite. These many wrong doings caused the Americans to build up anger. Once Britain
pushed the colonists over the edge, there was no turning back. British parliament s main goal
regarding the colonies, as stated by John Dickinson in Letters From a Farmer in Pennsylvania,
was to regulate trade. Regulating the colonial trade would suppress their economy allowing Great
Britain to take control of it. However, after the passage of the Stamp Act, it became clear that
parliaments greed had finally shown through. The reason for the Stamp Act was to allow the
British to financially benefit from the hard work of American colonists. In the year 1765 it was
hard for most colonists to provide food for their families without extra costs. After the Stamp Act
was passed, finding the means to get food became almost impossible. Passing Acts that the

The Agony Of Rejection From Friends, Family, Schools, And...
By the time I was fourteen ... the nail in my wall would no longer support the weight of the
rejection slips impaled upon it. I replaced the nail with a spike and kept on writing. This quote
from Stephan King really hit me. The famous, successful man that we all know for his works

once been struggling. Maybe I choose this quote because that s how I m feeling right now and
the quote gives me some sort of hope. Unsuccessful, down, rejected are a few words to describe
it. The agony of rejection from friends, family, schools, and jobs all contribute. There s the pain
of boys denying you at my age, or applying for a job that you never hear back from. The constant
pressure to fit in with groups of girls in sororities and the fear they will judge you. The pressure
of school and the four tests coming up next week along with the everlasting point to make your
parents proud is a constant cycle in my life. These all are reasons that brought my attention to
Stephan King s quote. The thing is, he gives me hope for the future. Hope. That s a strong word.
It s not a promised outcome, or a permanent solution but it is something. It is something to look

Is Technology Good or Bad For Us? Technology has been around for a very long time now. In

measurements the opposition of gay marriage is working to overturn same sex marriage. If
legislation is overturned, it would allow marriage only between a man and a woman. This would
also eliminate the right to civil unions by gays in the state. We must seek a solution to same sex
marriage. Same sex marriage will continue to be an ongoing legal battle. It is important we find a
solution that both sides of the argument agree on or come closest to a compromise between the two
sides. (Gay Marriage Showdowns)
Civil unions are a practical solution to this problem. Civil unions provide a full extension of
marital benefits for gays. Civil unions are only recognized by the states that initiated the process.
This means if a civil union united couple where to travel out of state they are not recognized as a
civil union by that particular state. Civil unions would start a special tradition among gays and
leave the tradition of marriage between man and woman pure. Some states have legislation that is
very strict against gay marriage such as Texas. Strict legislation

Pitkin Views Representation Of A Sorority Executive...
Professor Uhlaner Political Science 137BW November 17, 2016 Paper 4 In her book, Pitkin
views representation in four partial views in order to get a better understanding of the overall
term. Acting for differs from the other views in that it is focused on the substance of representing.
Pitkin also brings up the Mandate Independence Controversy which describes the conflict of how
representatives should act. The mandate view of representation is where the representative s
choices reflect the views of the represented; he is bound by the instructions from them.
Independence view gives the representative more freedom as long as it s still what is best for the
constituents. Both these views offer ways of viewing how a representative should behave. This
principle is demonstrated in a sorority executive council. There are different council positions that
demonstrate different strategies used to represent the sorority. There is no clear answer to how
much freedom a representative should have when acting for the represented. However, the mandate
independence view and Pitkin s analogies offers a way of viewing this question. Pitkin s five
analogies for explaining substantive representation will be discussed to further explain this concept:
actor, trustee, substitute, ambassador, and specialist. Each analogy has its strengths in defining
representation and its shortcomings. The first analogy is an actor which acts on the behalf of
someone else and is someone who does the actual

... Has nobody observed that as soon as the government becomes the property of a separate class, it
starts to grow out of all proportion and that posts are created not to meet the needs of the governed
but of those who govern them?... (SieyГЁs).
Emmanuel SiyГЁs argued that the privileges of the aristocracy essentially established it as a
foreign body outside of the commonwealth of France. He denounced the nobility by declaring that
it had been able to reap the rewards of the working class without providing any contributions to
society. Moreover, he said that the nobility was able to do away with these act[s] of treason to the
commonwealth because it became so powerful, both politically and socially, allowing it to
manipulate the government into benefitting solely itself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By punishing traitors and conspirators, particularly if they are deputies or administrators; by
sending loyal troops under patriotic leaders to subdue the aristocrats of... [all] regions in which
the standards of rebellion and royalism have been raised; and by making frightful examples of all
scoundrels who have outraged liberty and spilled the blood of patriots (Robespierre, Despotism in
Defense of Liberty).
As the Reign of Terrorcame into effect, triggering the most radical phase of the Revolution,
Maximilien Robespierre was determined to reconstruct France as a new republican democracy.
According to Robespierre, this system could only be achieved if every and all forms of
resistance to the Republic were to be eradicated. He declared that anyone who did not support the
revolution as radically as he did was a traitor, a threat to the country, and deserved to be executed.

1. Why is RAID 1 not a substitute for a backup?
RAID 1 will perform the operations to write as well as read the same data, which is called is called
as mirroring. It is data is back up, it might not be safe and have a high chance of risk to protect
the data. RAID 1 is preferred for mirroring and duplexing. It has a high level of reliability and
availability. It has disk in a mirrored array which has an identical image of user data. It prefers
array with parallel access for achieving the high transfer rate and also to increase the performance
for read intensive application at high cost. If the data is being deleted unwantedly, then the data
will also be removed from the mirrored copy. If the disk attacked by the virus the files ... Show

9.Select the files to be recover.
10.We can take the backup data, before that we need to verify the new disks are installed properly
in the system.
5. Discuss the impact of random and sequential I/Os in different RAID configurations
The sequential large I/O and random input and output reads and write are needed for an
application. It offers a good I/O response for random as it reads and poor for the small random
writes. For random writes, its good and are slow for parity overhead
Sequential I/Os offer good RAID reads and writes and also preferred even for large writes. For the
database and standard files stored on the servers, the random I/O is preferred with an equal disk
time span servicing of all of the I/O requests. For a single application, the RAID 0 with more disks
are preferred. For the multiple applications, files might be performed either on RAID 1 or RAID
10. Finally, RAID 5 might receive some of the updates for workloads.
Using the sequential I/O we can optimize the performance of our configuration. For writing the
intensive fields its better to avoid either RAID 5 or RAID 6 rather than that we can use RAID 1 or

DISCUSS THE WAYS IN WHICH IAGO CONTROLS AND MANIPULATES TWO OTHER
CHARACTERS IN OTHELLO
Iago controls and manipulates many characters in Othello including Roderigo, Brabantio, Cassio,
Emilia, Desdemona, and even Othello himself. I will only be looking at Cassio and Othello
because the fate of Iago s plans rest in their actions, therefore he controls and manipulates them
more than any of the other characters like Roderigo who is also manipulated by Iago for a lot of
the play but I found the relationship between Othello, Cassio, and Iago more interesting because
they are both his superiors so Iago has to be more careful with how he manipulates them. When
Iago speaks to Roderigo he can tell him a lot that may or may ... Show more content on

Othello s lieutenant, Cassio is a young and inexperienced soldier (we are told this in the
beginning of the play when Cassio is first spoken of), whose high position is much resented by
Iago. Truly devoted to Othello, Cassio is extremely ashamed after being implicated in a drunken
brawl on Cyprus and losing his place as lieutenant. Iago uses Cassio s youth, good looks, and
friendship with Desdemona to play on Othello s insecurities about Desdemona s fidelity.
Iago controls Cassio for most of the play. It is important for Iago to control Cassio in the way
that he does because it allows Iago to get exactly what he wants. Iago uses Cassio s faults to
manipulate him, like Cassio s looks and his flirtatious personality to Cassio s own disadvantage
because Iago gets Othello to think that Desdemona is having an affair with him. It all starts
when he persuades Cassio to join in with the festive drinking even though Cassio has a weak
alcohol tolerance level I have very poor and unhappy brains for drinking this shows that Iago can
still persuade Cassio to drink a lot of alcohol even though he knows that he cannot take it. Iago
implies that he and Cassio have the same friends which makes Cassio think that they are best
friends; he does this by calling the other men our friends which implies that they too would be
friends. Iago also tells Cassio that he will drink for Cassio which makes Cassio think

Sadiwa Institute of Chemistry, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City 1101 Philippines Date/s Performed: July 13, 2012; Date Submitted: July 19, 2012 Results and Discussions A mixture of carbonate(CO32 ), bicarbonate, (HCO32 ) and hydroxide (OH ) ions can be analysed and determined by titration with strong standard acid solution. Volumetric titrimetry can be employed to compute percent compositions of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3), and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in a soda ash sample through the application of neutralization concepts and titrimetric analyses. Volumetric titrimetry has been utilized in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, NaOH cannot replace Na2CO3 for it generally do not satisfy above requirements and very hygroscopic in nature. On the other hand, 0.05 M HCl is called the standard solution. An ideal standard solution[3] is (1) sufficiently stable to determine concentration, (2) reactive with the analyte so that the time required between additions of titrant is minimized, (3) completely reactive with the analyte so that satisfactorily end points are realized, and (4) selectively reactive with the analyte that can be described by a simple balanced equation. The standardization of the titrant aims to know the exact concentration of the titrant (its deviation from the measurement done). Two basic methods are used to establish the concentration of standard solutions: (1) direct method, in which a carefully weighed quantity of a primary standard is dissolved and diluted to an exactly known volume in a volumetric flask, and (2) standardization by titrating (a) weighed quantity of a primary standard, or (b) a measured volume of another standard solution. In the experiment, the standard solution has been standardized using method 2b[3]. The standard solutions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Supply chains are complex systems with silos of information that are very difficult to integrate and analyze. The best way to effectively analyze these disparate systems is the use of Business Intelligence (BI). The ability to make and then to process the right decision at the right time in collaboration with the right partners is the definition of the successful use of BI. This chapter discusses the ... The Supply Neitwork However, despite the huge investment in SCM software systems, they did not provide desired Return On Investment (ROI). The main reason is that these systems mostly provide only transaction based functionality. They lack the sophisticated analytical capabilities required to provide an integrated view of the supply chain. This is where Business Intelligence (BI) tools like data warehousing, ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Loading), data mining, and OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing) can help adequately analyze operational effectiveness across the supply chain. 1.1 Supply Chain Performance Measurement Supply Chain Performance Measurement (SCPM) is vital for a company to survive in today s competitive business environment. Performance measurement is one of the key aspects of management. If a company does not have a clear understanding of how well its supply chains are performing, it will be very hard to manage them successfully. 220 N. Stefanovic and D. • 4. Standard Deduction Introduction Standard deduction is a provision of the United States federal income tax system, which serves two purposes including a least amount amount of untaxed income, thus acting as an ingredient of progressivity. Second, it provides a simplified alternative to the itemized deductions for tax payers with comparatively low itemizable expenses, thus relieving them of the record keeping and computational burden of itemizing deductions. Having one provision is a compromise to other but it is a compromise that is unnecessary. (Samansky, 1991) A base sum of income that is not focused to tax and that can be used to decrease a taxpayer s adjusted gross income (AGI), a standard deduction can only be used if the taxpayer does not prefer the itemized deduction method of calculating taxable income. The sum of the standard deduction is based on a taxpayer s filing status, age and whether he or she is disabled or claimed as a reliant on another person s tax return. The major reason taxpayers exercise standard instead of itemized deductions is that taxpayers don t have to keep track of every potential tax deductible expense throughout the year. Plus, a lot of people find the standard deduction amount to be fairly generous and usually greater than the total they could reach if they added up all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the restaurant industry is perceived to have high risk of failure, the risk of a restaurant failing is not too different from other small businesses. Parsa et al. quantified the risk of failure at 26% in the first year and 57% by year 3. He also described several factors that can influence the risk of failure. Those include physical location, firm size, speed of growth, differentiation from other restaurants in the market, adapting to external trends, and management experience. In terms of location and differentiation, Paul s bar will be located in a new development designed to attract affluent customers and with very few competitors. Paul s small firm size increases risk because of barriers to attract partners (i.e. suppliers and bankers are prejudiced against smaller firms) and growth that may be too rapid to manage. On the other hand, Robert already has experience in the restaurant business and should know how to run the bar and subsequent restaurant. Their choice of a piano bar may be in response to local trends that favor success. A final question is whether Paul should apply his student loan money to the startup costs. Since his living expenses and tuition are already paid by the Ford Foundation grant, the loan money is not immediately needed. It was a complicated event that often had an unclear objective. Many of the young men who were sent into combat lacked the type of patriotism that would have been an important motivation. The confusion about their mission and the nature of their elusive enemy made the mental toll much more pronounced. When they returned home, they faced a non accepting society that failed to welcome and support them. The Things They Carried gives a vivid image of how the nature of the war in Vietnam contributed to a more intense mental toll on Veterans. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder occurs when someone loses their personal identity as a result of distressing event in which their own life is at risk (Hochgesang 2). The two major factors that contribute to the mental toll of war are pre war vulnerability and the severity of combat exposure. The latter has a more important impact on how soldiers react immediately following the war. Pre war psychological factors, on the other hand, may affect the long term persistence of PTSD (Dohrenwend 12). The amount of mental stress that soldiers experience has also been linked to how the war violates their personal beliefs and goals . • 20. Role of Arbitration and Mediation in the Legal System Part1: Arbitration and mediation In general, arbitration is a more formal method of alternative dispute resolution than mediation. Arbitrators generally act similar to a judge and make decisions about evidence and give written opinions, which can be binding or non binding (Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law). There may be one or more arbiters selected by both sides, or a third selected by the mutual arbiter. The methods deployed are often very similar to that of a court room. In contrast, mediation is generally conducted before a single mediator who does not judge the case but helps facilitate a discussion and eventual resolution of the dispute (Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law). Mediation has a high success rate, but this may be due to the fact that parties which select mediation tend to be less polarized. Both forms of ADR can be advantageous, given that they are less costly and also can keep the anger involved to a minimum. A compromise can be reached that is mutually advantageous to both sides, and alternative solutions can be found that will not necessarily be allowed in a more formal jury system. Mediation and arbitration can also be embarked upon more quickly than a lawsuit, which enables the parties involved to engage in dialogue before conflicts get out of hand. He accepted his social responsibility as an individual, and acted through love and generosity in recognising the importance of the lives of the poor in Paris in a time of such social and political turbulence. Frederic Ozanam s desire for justice led him to establish the St. Vincent de Paul society, a charity focused on providing assistance both materially and emotionally to the disadvantaged of society (HISTORY OF THE ST VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY, n.d). He was an effective leader because he was courageous in his actions, was a strong voice for change, and was a practical witness of the vision of the church, challenging many common beliefs (Buhagiar and Wilson, 2015). Frederic challenged the normal functioning of society, and had authentic opinions commonly conflicted within society, especially considering political and religious matters (Bugaiar and Wilson, 2015). He rebelled against the general view of society that those who were poor had inflicted it on themselves and stood up for those who did not have a voice within society. Although he was not easily trusted as a leader, he maintained confidence in God s advice and eventually gained followers and believers, because of his beliefs and personal qualities (Hyatt, 2012). [Name] [Professors name] [Class] [Date] The Relationship between Culture and Religion in The Indus River Valley Civilization The rise and fall of different civilizations and empires is caused by various social, political, and cultural factors that affect its societies. One of the most important concepts seen in empires are the creation of its culture and its relation to the beliefs of its society. Religion plays an enormous role in understanding the purpose behind the actions of the people in a civilization. Religion and culture are dependent of each other as it reflects the ideas and values that society has agreed upon. There is very little information about the religious beliefs in the Indus civilization. Artifacts that were found in trading, such as the seals and ornaments, were interpreted as ritual objects. However, there is little proof that they were used in worship of deities. Instead, their belief system mirrored their structure of government. Kenoyer (1991) explains that the Harappan culture was based on a socio ritual belief system. In this system, the seals, ornaments, and other ritual objects that were traded between regions represented the regions of people using similar objects. Similarly, burials sites and cemeteries showed patterns of every major region. However, not all of the regions practiced burial. Therefore, these sites do not represent the belief of the society. Some regions practiced cremation or exposure. Overall, the socio ritual belief became an important part of the Indus society in which it reflected and maintained its social hierarchy within different regions. This system of government and beliefs ultimately ended the Indus civilization during what was defined as the Localization Era (Shaffer, 1991 as cited in Keynoyer, 1991). In the article, Kenoyer highlights the causes of the downfall during this era. One of the major causes was the expansion of settlements which in turn increased regional organizations. Because of this, different regions fought and conquered other regions. Kenoyer provides an example of the regions in The Indus that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Current Schools Of Thought On Change Management TASK 1 1.1 The analysis must include consideration of two current schools of thought on change management and how they have contributed to organizational change Kurt Zadek Lewin (September 9, 1890 February 12, 1947) was a German American analyst, known as one of the advanced pioneers of social , authoritative, and connected brain research An early model of progress created by Lewin portrayed change as a three stage process. The primary stage he called unfreezing . It included overcoming dormancy and disassembling the current personality set . It must be some piece of surviving. Barrier systems must be circumventing. In the second stage the change happens. This is ordinarily a time of perplexity and move. We are mindful that the old ways are constantly tested yet we don t have a reasonable picture with reference to what we are supplanting them with yet. The third and last stage he called solidifying . The new attitude is solidifying and one s solace level is coming back to past levels ology The idea of progress administration is recognizable in many associations today however how they oversee change (and how effective they are busy) changes tremendously relying upon the nature of the business, the change and the individuals included. Associations that handle change well seem to flourish, whilst those that don t may battle to survive. Analysis Of Shakespeare s The Tempest On Thursday 1st December 2016, the RSC s (Royal Shakespeare Company) production of The Tempest was performed to an audience of around one thousand people at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford upon Avon. It was directed by the RSC s artistic director Gregory Doran, whose version s aim was to break new boundaries in theatre making through its heavy reliance on cutting edge technology to create magnificent spectacles and revitalise used tropes of past productions. Being the first classical production to use live motion capture, Doran s imagination severs Shakespeare s last play from some of its old ties and shifts it into the twenty first century. The play begins in media res, enthralling the audience by immediately throwing them into chaos and disarray from the very first scene. Martin Meisel states that the printed play acts as a manual or a blueprint for performance and thus the RSC s performance, with its crescendo of thunderous music, flashing visual projections and erratic lighting to mimic a storm brought the playwright s words to life before the audience s eyes. It could be argued that the shipwreck in Act I Scene I captivated the audience s senses by creating strong visual and auditory cues to invoke a sense of enigmatic intrigue and perhaps fear at the frantic scene, placing them at the forefront of the shipwreck itself. The spectacle of this nautical scene could also mirror the importance of expedition and voyage during the 1600 s, whether such travels ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Basic Physical Layout Of A Lan Table of Contents Introduction2 Discussion3 Conclusion5 References7 Appendices8 Introduction: As computer became more commonly used in universities and research labs in the late 1960s, the need of having high speed interconnections between computer systems within a small region generated a new interest of Internet development. The initial motivation for building such networks was generally to share storage and printers, which were both expensive at the time. Early Local Area Networks development started in the late 1970 s by enthusiasts and commercial companies. From that time until the present a variation of LAN s design has been offered in the marketplace. However, in the late 1980 s people began to recognize Ethernet as the flavor of choice. The following report will concern only Ethernet. The figure in appendix shows the basic physical layout of a LAN. As illustrated, a LAN contains various data equipment that all need to communicate with each other. A data equipment could be a web server, a printer or a database. Each data equipment constitutes the users of the LAN. The communication between each device is accomplished by sharing a common Transmission Medium. The Transmission Medium is typically some type of cable. This cable provides transmit and receive capability and all needed intelligence. Knowing the physical structure helps us to better understand the potential requirements when designing a LAN. When it comes to design a LAN, not only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I believe this to be the truth because Great Britain did unlawful deeds against the colonies including passing taxes, injuring the innocent, abusing their power, and not being able to reason with the American colonist. Some of these actions were out of greed while some were out of spite. These many wrong doings caused the Americans to build up anger. Once Britain pushed the colonists over the edge, there was no turning back. British parliament s main goal regarding the colonies, as stated by John Dickinson in Letters From a Farmer in Pennsylvania, was to regulate trade. Regulating the colonial trade would suppress their economy allowing Great Britain to take control of it. However, after the passage of the Stamp Act, it became clear that parliaments greed had finally shown through. The reason for the Stamp Act was to allow the British to financially benefit from the hard work of American colonists. In the year 1765 it was hard for most colonists to provide food for their families without extra costs. After the Stamp Act was passed, finding the means to get food became almost impossible. Through rallying and other measurements the opposition of gay marriage is working to overturn same sex marriage. If legislation is overturned, it would allow marriage only between a man and a woman. Professor Uhlaner Political Science 137BW November 17, 2016 Paper 4 In her book, Pitkin views representation in four partial views in order to get a better understanding of the overall term. Acting for differs from the other views in that it is focused on the substance of representing. Pitkin also brings up the Mandate Independence Controversy which describes the conflict of how representatives should act. The mandate view of representation is where the representative s choices reflect the views of the represented; he is bound by the instructions from them. Independence view gives the representative more freedom as long as it s still what is best for the constituents. Both these views offer ways of viewing how a representative should behave. This principle is demonstrated in a sorority executive council. There are different council positions that demonstrate different strategies used to represent the sorority. There is no clear answer to how much freedom a representative should have when acting for the represented. However, the mandate independence view and Pitkin s analogies offers a way of viewing this question. Pitkin s five analogies for explaining substantive representation will be discussed to further explain this concept: actor, trustee, substitute, ambassador, and specialist. For a single application, the RAID 0 with more disks are preferred. For the multiple applications, files might be performed either on RAID 1 or RAID 10. Finally, RAID 5 might receive some of the updates for workloads. Using the sequential I/O we can optimize the performance of our configuration. For writing the intensive fields its better to avoid either RAID 5 or RAID 6 rather than that we can use RAID 1 or 10. Chap 4 pg. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

DISCUSS THE WAYS IN WHICH IAGO CONTROLS AND MANIPULATES TWO OTHER CHARACTERS IN OTHELLO Iago controls and manipulates many characters in Othello including Roderigo, Brabantio, Cassio, Emilia, Desdemona, and even Othello himself. I will only be looking at Cassio and Othello because the fate of Iago s plans rest in their actions, therefore he controls and manipulates them more than any of the other characters like Roderigo who is also manipulated by Iago for a lot of the play but I found the relationship between Othello, Cassio, and Iago more interesting because they are both his superiors so Iago has to be more careful with how he manipulates them. When Iago speaks to Roderigo he can tell him a lot that may or may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Othello s lieutenant, Cassio is a young and inexperienced soldier (we are told this in the beginning of the play when Cassio is first spoken of), whose high position is much resented by Iago. Truly devoted to Othello, Cassio is extremely ashamed after being implicated in a drunken brawl on Cyprus and losing his place as lieutenant. Iago uses Cassio s youth, good looks, and friendship with Desdemona to play on Othello s insecurities about Desdemona s fidelity. Iago controls Cassio for most of the play. It is important for Iago to control Cassio in the way that he does because it allows Iago to get exactly what he wants. Iago uses Cassio s faults to manipulate him, like Cassio s looks and his flirtatious personality to Cassio s own disadvantage because Iago gets Othello to think that Desdemona is having an affair with him. It all starts when he persuades Cassio to join in with the festive drinking even though Cassio has a weak alcohol tolerance level I have very poor and unhappy brains for drinking this shows that Iago can still persuade Cassio to drink a lot of alcohol even though he knows that he cannot take it. Iago implies that he and Cassio have the same friends which makes Cassio think that they are best friends; he does this by calling the other men our friends which implies that they too would be friends. Iago also tells Cassio that he will drink for Cassio which makes Cassio think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
