Merchant Of Venice Research Paper
Abstract
This paper attempts to enlighten the Gratitude and courtesy of Antonio in the Merchant of Venice.
Bassanio borrowed money from Antonio and he hasn t paid it back, again he asks money from him.
Even though Antonio s money is tied up in the ships, he helped Bassanio by borrowing money from
Shylock. Shylock lends the money to Antonio and insists him to pay at the specified date otherwise he
may take a pound of Antonio s flesh. Antonio accepts the condition. With money at hand Bassanio
went to Belmont and married Portia. After a while he received a letter that Antonia was unable to pay
the loan. So Shylock has brought Antonia before the court. Antonio a man with Gratitude and

money from him; he didn t return the money. Again Bassanio need money to court Portia, a wealthy
heiress who lives in the city of Belmont. Antonia agrees but now he is unable to make money himself
because his own money was invested in a number of trade ships that were still at sea. Antonia suggests
Bassanio to secure the loan from the moneylender Shylock and he himself as the loan s guarantor.
Shylock offers Basssanio three thousand ducats with no interest upon one condition, if Bassanio is
unable to repay the money at the specific time, he may take a pound of Antonia s flesh. Bassanio

The Discovery Of The Tomb
Introduction
In ancient Egypt, a boy dies mysteriously. Quickly buried in a small tomb, he lies peacefully,
undisturbed. Thousands of years later, in February 1922, a man named Howard Carter finds the boy s
tomb. Named the discovery of the century, the discovery of the tomb answers so many questions, but
creates a mystery that takes its place in the world s greatest unsolved mysteries.
I selected the topic of Tutankhamun because I have an interest in Egyptian pharaohs, and
Tutankhamun s mystery intrigues me. Tutankhamun came to throne at only about eight or nine years
old. About ten years later, he dies. How? Some theories include a chariot accident, he was murdered,
or died from disease. This research report will include the events before Tutankhamun s life that led to
him becoming king, his short reign, death, the chain of events that Tutankhamun caused after his
death, and jump ahead in the timeline to his discovery thousands of years later.
The Six Lenses Overview
Geography
Ancient Egypt had the world s largest river, the Nile River, running right through it. Most people lived
in the fertile soil near the Nile, called the Nile Valley. The Nile is over 4000 miles long, which is as
long as traveling from California to Georgia and back again. The Nile is actually two rivers, the White
Nile and the Blue Nile. The White Nile starts in Central Africa, and the Blue Nile starts in East Africa.
The Nile provided the Ancient Egyptians with water for drinking and

ABSTRACT:
As companies are becoming more and more diverse it s becoming more and more important for
companies to understand and manage it. The people of different background, races, religion creates
diverse workforce. There is an importance of having diverse workforce to provide better performance.
There are perspectives of managing the diverse workforce, which require organization leaders and
managers of being responsible of attaining better diverse workforce.

In short, they claim, diversity will be good for business.
Research stated that the Canadian companies leading the way in the area of diversity management
have discovered that by embracing the elements of ethnic and cultural diversity in their workforce
they have enhanced their ability to understand and tap new markets, both within Canada and abroad.
Research generated from a variety of fields predicts that important benefits will accrue from
demographic heterogeneity in organizations by increasing the variance in perspectives and approaches
to work that members of different identity groups can bring (e.g., Thomas and Ely, 1996).
IMPORTANCE OF MANAGING DIVERSITY
As the companies of today are getting more and more diverse, the need of managing the diverse
workfare is increasing. All Countries specially USA and Canada are having more diverse workforce
everyday. So it is becoming important for the companies manage the diversity to get better results out
of employees.
Research stated that Forward thinking Canadian organizations have recognized that competing
successfully in the new global marketplace requires more than the latest technology, most efficient
production processes, or most innovative products. Canadian organizations competitive strength is
increasingly contingent on human resources. Competing to win in the global economy will require an

notable attraction among the researchers. This field has emerged as one of the most promising ways
for photo conversion related technologies by harvesting sun light in environment and energy fields. In
general photocatalytic oxidation has been applied broadly in the process of removal of organic
pollutants in water and air as a cost effective and environmentally friendly technology, which could
decompose organic compounds into CO2 and H2O under lenitive conditions. The optimal

Graphene, which is the most recent material of the carbongroup, is considered as one of the greatest
smart materials ofthe 21stcentury. Graphene and graphene based composites show numerous potential
applications owing to their distinctivetwo dimensional assembly and related band structure.
Graphenehas gained attention of many scientists since its innovation due to its exceptional large
surface area (2630 m2g_1),[11] high electrical conductivity at room temperature[12,13](106 s cm 1),
good mechanical properties (~1.1 TPa), fracturestrength[14] (125 GPa), breaking strength[15] (42 N
m 1), excellent mobility as charge carriers[16] (~20 m2 V 1 s 1 ), superior thermalconductivity (~5000
W m K 1 )[17], high carrier density (~1012 cm 2 ), good optical transmittance (~97.7%),[18] specific
magnetism,and chemical stability[1]. B
Graphene and its compositesare widely used in sensors, transistors, electronics, compositematerials,
photonics, bioengineering, energy production, and storage. Pure graphene is hydrophobic in nature
and cannotbe dispersed in aqueous solutions [19], therefore this factor limitsits application in water
purification. Chemically converted graphene, namely graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide, can
be easily synthesized[20] and have shown numerous potentialapplications in water purification [21].

Test For Sugars, Starches, Proteins, And Lipids
Purpose: The purpose of this lab was to test for sugars, starches, proteins, and lipids.
Background information:
Biological macromolecules are the large molecules necessary for life. There are four different types of
macromolecules which include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Each macromolecule
has a specific function like providing energy or simply insulation. Macromolecules are made from
monomers which come together through dehydration synthesis or hydrolysis to create the polymer or
macromolecule.
Carbohydrates are made from monosaccharides which are shaped like hexagons and come together to
make polysaccharides which provide quick energy, structural support for plants (cellulose in cell
walls) and are also found as chitin in the exoskeletons of arthropods. Lipids are made from glycerol
and three fatty acids and are found in two different forms unsaturated and saturated. Lipids provide
long term energy storage, insulate and cushion, and prevent water loss. Proteins are made from amino
acids which come together forming a protein with peptide bonds. Proteins serve as hormones, muscle,
parts of the immune system, and enzymes but if they are the wrong shape, they can t do their job.
Nucleic acids are made from nucleotides and serve as DNA and RNA which store genetic info and
transfer info to make new cells.
When conducting this experiment, certain safety precautions must be taken. Proper protective gear
must be worn including goggles and closed toed

Case Study Of Ant Colony Optimization
1.6 Ant Colony Optimization: 1.6.1 Introduction The conception of massive Gordian behavior
emerging from the behavior of many relatively simple units, and the dealings with them, is
fundamental to the field of Artificial Intelligence. The growing understanding of such systems offers
the prospect of creating artificial systems which are controlled by such significant shared behavior; in
particular, we believe that the sweating of this concept might lead to entirely new channels for the
pilotage of distributed systems, such as load balancing in telecommunications networks. In such
regimes, requests between any two points typically route through some central switching bureau or
nodes in a big system; there are many future paths for each such call. It is thus viable to emancipate
actual or potential local hurdles by routing requests via parts of the system which have extra capacity.
Load balancing is essentially the creation of call routing schemes which successfully assign the
changing load over the system and curtail lost requests. Of course, it is viable to determine the shortest
routes from every node to every other node of the network. With the help of this mean utilization of
nodes reduces, but this is not necessarily the drift way to avoid node congestion, as this has to do with
how the vivisection of the traffic on the network. Controlling distributed systems through a single
central controller has several repugnancies. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

No Place to Go Essays
Homelessness is viewed as a social problem of our society because people consider it to be an
undesirable condition. It s something that most people don t want to see or think about. Our
communities share a social responsibility to find ways to eradicate homelessness. The article, Helping
the homeless get off the streets, takes the functionalist approach to eradicating homelessness, in
addition to this approach; the Symbolic Internationalist Perspective would be a beneficial addition to
the solution of homelessness. The field research method needs to be used to experience homelessness
first hand.

residence or identification (Killiam, Joe 2008). The homeless can t go to a job interview if they are

and phone to be able to get a job (Killian, 2008). The problems continue to mount against the
homeless and it continues to keep them in their cycle of poverty. The article, Helping the homeless get
off the streets, represents the Functionalist Perspective, which comes from the works of Auguste
Comte, the founder of sociology. Comte believed that society was like the human body. Each part
interrelated and assigned to perform different tasks that maintain society as a whole (Kendall,
2010.p.8). The different functions within the societal body would be the social institutions, education,
families in the community and our government (Kendall, 2010.p.8). Each function works in different
ways to provide stability and to make sure social needs are met within the community (Kendall,
2010.p.8). In the article, Helping the homeless get off the streets, states that Jehan Benton, Director of
Guilford County s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness, is working with other entities within the
community to coordinate resources to educate and rehabilitate the homeless. Jehan Benton and the
other entities within the community are using the Functionalist Perspective

Virtual Colonoscopy Research Paper
Virtual Colonoscopy
Virtual colonoscopy is a procedure that can be used to examine the large intestine (colon), the rectum,
and the small intestine. In this procedure, X rays and computers (CT scan or MRI) are used to produce
images of these body areas. The exam can help find problems such as tumors, polyps, or
diverticulosis.
Virtual colonoscopy provides a way to examine the colon without inserting the flexible instrument
(colonoscope) into the colon as is done in a regular colonoscopy. However, a virtual colonoscopy does
not show as much detail, so smaller polyps may not be seen during this procedure. Also, your health
care provider cannot take tissue samples or remove polyps during a virtual colonoscopy. If problems

Previous problems you or members of your family have had with the use of anesthetics.
Any blood disorders you have.
Previous surgeries you have had.
Medical conditions you have.
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant.
RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS
Generally, this is a safe procedure. However, problems can occur and include:
A tear in the lining of the colon from inflating the colon with air during the procedure. The risk of this
is small.
Exposure to radiation (small amount).
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
Ask your health care provider about changing or stopping your regular medicines. This is especially
important if you are taking diabetes medicines or blood thinners.
You may be prescribed an oral bowel prep. This involves drinking a large amount of medicated liquid,
starting the day before your procedure. The liquid will cause you to have multiple loose stools until
your stool is almost clear or light green. This cleans out your colon in preparation for the procedure.
Do not eat or drink anything else once you have started the bowel prep, unless your health care
provider tells you it is safe to do so.

The Northern Wars Of Aotearoa Essay
The Northern wars in Aotearoa.
In this paper my intention is to review the Northern wars known as te riri pakeha or white man s anger
that took place in 1843 1846, in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. It will also be defining and giving
understanding of the meaning of colonisation and the effects on the Māori people. This paper
concludes with the impact of the Northern wars on Māori wellbeing and health in 1843 and the
present.
The definition of colonisation is the forming of a settlement or colony by a group of people who seek
to take control of territories or countries . It usually involves large scale immigration of people to a
new location and the expansion of their civilization and culture in this area.Skwirk

The American Legal System
What is the importance of the American legal system? The American Legal system is important
because it plays a vital role in how we live our lives every day. It was created as a common law
system which relies on court authority in making important decisions. The purpose of this legal
system is to help make sure that our country is in a peaceful and civilized manner. This system
promotes good morals and disciplines those who try to deliberately harm others and break the laws.
The legal system is designed to remove lawbreakers from society. The system is also designed to
protect the innocent. Two examples of laws that protect the innocent would be the Age Discrimination

The Concept Of Employee Empowerment Essay
1.0 Literature Review
The concept of employee empowerment has been discussed a lot in many academic studies and in the
field of management profession for over decades. In fact, some organizations consider the idea of
empowerment as the optimum strategy in order to have the competitive benefits in the world of
professional business practices (Ghosh, 2013).
Researchers have proven that employee empowerment, which can be called the voice of employees
and participation, has a significant impact on individuals and groups on particular as well as on
organizational efficiency in general (Conger and Kanungo, 1988). In addition, there are many
practices of leadership, such as delegation, developmental leadership, and empowering leadership,
suggest that the high management of the organization share the authority in order to promote the
advantages of enforcing employee empowerment that can raise the level of employees productivity
and positivity in the work environment (Chen, Zhang, and Wang, 2014). According to ( ), the level of
empowerment and the level of participation are vital components of the successful processes in any
professional environment.
However, it is essential to introduce the concept behind employee empowerment idea as well as to
identify the detailed meaning of employee empowerment before we dive deeper in the main purpose
of this study. In addition, providing the main components of employee empowerment can lead to

Mechanisms of Data Communication and Signals
Data communication refers to the transmission of electronic information over shared communication
mediums. This transmission can be generated from electronic sources such as computers, phones,
cameras and even audio sources such as speakers. Due to the various types of sources from which data
is derived, each source requires a mechanism that gathers and prepares the data for transmission. This
may include digitizing data, or encoding to ensure the privacy of the data during transmission. This
data is then passed along a communications channel to the destination, or receiver, in the form of an
analog or digital signal and mixed with other multiple pieces of data through a shared channel. In
order to avoid confusion, mechanisms must be in place that can identify each source and ensure that
the data sent from those sources arrive at the intended destination and not become lost and confused
with other data in the same channel. (Comer, 2014). The propagation of data is accomplished by
conducting energy in the form of electromagnetic waves called signals. Depending on the source and
the devices that operate in the communication channels, analog and digital are the two types of signals
transmitted to the receiver. Signals travel along different types of media including copper wire, fiber
optics, and space. (Cao, n.d.). Analog signals can be found in audio sources including voices,
telephones, and cameras. They are continuously variable and potentially

Gru Of Universal s Despicable Me
Claim:
Gru of Universal s Despicable Me belongs in Circle 8, Bolgia 7 where reptiles eternally punish the
equally reptilian thieves.
Data:
In response to recent robbery of the Great Pyramid of Giza, Gru mentions how they stole the Statue of

Gru is so attached to thievery and criminal enterprise that when someone more successful arises, he

Similar to how Cleopatra killed herself (but since the ulterior motive was her love for Antony, she was
placed in Circle 2), Gru certainly exhibits wrathful behavior, but his actions go only so far as to
support his main sin of thievery. This aligns with Dante s view of the Inferno where each character is
placed in only one circle with the greater influence on his or her life and decisions. Moreover, since
Dante believes in sins aligning with the intent of the sinner, it makes sense that Gru, who has spent his
whole life stealing, is punished for his sins as a thief and not as a wrathful individual since his intent
was to be a super villain and not a furious sinner. His thievery enabled him to be wrathful, not the
other way around, so his intent remains with Circle 8 and thievery. While Gru certainly earns some
retribution by opening his heart to the love of the children, especially when he said I love you too to
Margo near the end, he would still go to Hell because he is still an active thief who denies the grace
and love of God (Despicable Me). Hence, since he denies the grace of God, he would for sure be
lower than Circle 6 and into the area of the Inferno of the Sins of Lion, which are sins of violence and
ambition and would not be in the sins of incontinence (which are the first half of the Inferno). Dante
specifies how Malice is the sin most hated by God because those who commit those sins do so
willingly and without the love of Divine Illumination (Alighieri 11.22). Gru, even with the intent to
support his family that he cares for so generously, is sure to be punished in Circle 8 for committing
such acts of malice against

The Light Brigade Comparison
The poem called the Light Brigade on my thoughts was a very deadly battle. This battle happened
between the British, Russians, and French s. The battle of the Light Brigade happened on October
25th, 1854 in Balaclava, Russia. The soldiers went on rode the six hundred. Into the valley of death.
` My thoughts about that us that The 600 men who rode into that war compared to the movie were are
a lot more deadly than described in the poem. The courage Michael had was crazy from listening to
his dad read the poem the Light Brigade to him. Michael gained the courage to believe because of this
poem in the movie and in the poem Colonel Shewell. In the movie honor to be brave and to make
sacrifices is the main idea. Michael engendered this story to existence. The poem and the movie were
really diverse during the story. The cannon fire flourished, left, right everywhere around the soldiers
the war blaze and total mass chaos.
The result of the war was 278 deaths of British Light Brigade soldiers. Observing the charge a french
marshal remarked: it is magnificent, but it is not war. It is madness. When news of this reached
London there was a national scandal. Tennyson wrote a poem for the 600 rode on.

Juvenile Sex Offenders Essay example
Sexual assault is one of the fastest growing violent crimes in America. Approximately 20% of all
people charged with a sexual offense are juveniles. Among adult sex offenders, almost 50% report that
their first offense occurred during their adolescence. (FBI, 1993) There are many different opinions,
treatment options and legislation to manage the growing numbers of juvenile sex offenders. In today s
society the psychological and behavioral modification treatments used to manage juvenile sex
offenders is also a growing concern. To understand and determine the proposed treatment methods,
several related issues will need to be reviewed such as traditional sex offender therapy methods like

According to Phoenix police, the girl was lured to a storage shed at an apartment complex. The four
boys, who had offered the girl chewing gum, allegedly restrained and sexually assaulted her. The
Phoenix police officers called the case, one of the worst they have investigated in many years. The 14
year old was charged as an adult and will face two counts of sexual assault and one count of
kidnapping. The other three boys were charged in juvenile court with sexual assault, and two of them
also were charged with kidnapping. (Trevino CNN, 2009) Currently, it is estimated that adolescents
(ages 13 to 17) account for up to one fifth of all rapes and one half of all cases of child molestation
committed each year (Barbaree, Hudson, and Marshall, 1993).
Who are Juvenile Sex Offenders?
There is a moderate portion of juvenile law violations that are minor; however some young offenders
are extremely dangerous and violent. (Caldwell, 2002) Studies have shown that most delinquent
behavior stems from some sort of underlining issue or issues in a youth s present or past history. State
and county authorities must deal with these offenders while also responding to their personal social
problems. This could range from child abuse and neglect, family issues and drug abuse, exposure to
pornography and exposure to aggressive role models.

Sexism And Prejudice And Discrimination
As stated in the oxford dictionary a stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or
idea of a particular type of person or thing . Stereotyping is a normal, automated aspect to our thinking
process and hence is a vast implication to our outlook on society. Stereotyping is a widely observed
Psychological topic and it has been suggested that sex, race and age are the most prevalent aspects to
stereotyping (Mackie, Hamilton, Sussking and Rosselli,1996.) Therefore discussing all areas and
aspects is far beyond the scope of this essay, hence I will be focusing on sexism and present the
explanations surrounding this prejudice and discrimination.
Sexism is discrimination and prejudice against an individual based on their gender and is still widely
apparent in society today although has drastically deteriorated in relation to the past. Most research
relating to sexism specifically focuses on women as they have been victim to the majority of prejudice
essentially due to their lower status compared to men in relation to business, government and
employment. Women still find it increasingly difficult to achieve or obtain top authoritarian positions

Culture Is Defined As The Beliefs, Customs, And Arts
Merriam Webster states culture is defined: as the beliefs, customs, and arts, of a particular society,
group, place, or time. People think of culture as they think of a specific person(s) or a region but with
a little studying of culture they would understand what it really is. The first thing we have to
understand is that culture is taught, or learned over time. Culture is not something you were born with
or receive from your parents. People learn the different cultures through life experiences, family, and
friends. We as humans all require food, water, sleep and education on important cultural
characteristics in order to learn different culture. Everywhere in the world is different and people come
from all different parts of the world because culture is shared. We learn from others and how people
have live throughout the world. The next characteristic would be symbols, symbols can be anything
from money, art, and language. In parts of the world language to a specific region is important to their
culture. Culture is engraved into our brains at a young age. A country like the United States, foreigners
arrive into a new culture and learn to adapt in many ways the same as we would have to while in
another country. The last characteristic would be dynamic, this means things change over time. People
always have changed over time and areas change as society grows and advancement in technology
arises. There is actually remote islands where there are

What Are The Similarities Between Loretta And Doolittle
Loretta Lynn was a small town, poor coal miner s daughter that lived in Butcher Holler, Kentucky

The Early History of Golf in the U.S. Essay
The game of golf is one of the oldest of today s modern sports. Its exact beginnings are not known;
however, some historians trace golf back to the Stone Age while others claim it originated from the
idle antics of shepherd boys knocking small stones into holes in the ground with a crook while their
flocks grazed nearby (Peper 1). Researched back to the time of the Roman Empire, it is also believed
the sports oriented Romans played a forerunner of the game of golf called paganica. This sport
involved the use of a bent stick and a ball stuffed with wool played in the open countryside.

Reid, born in Scotland, had immigrated to the United States as a youth bringing with him an interest in
the game of golf. Golf was by then a well established and popular sport in his native land. Just a year
before, Bob Lockhart, a friend of Reid s, was planning a business a trip to Scotland. At Reid s urging
request, Lockhart brought back with him a few golf clubs and balls. Reid laid out three golf holes in
his cow pasture and on February 22, 1888, Reid and his neighbor John Upham gave an exhibition on
the Scottish game. The curious neighbors, watching the sport, were keenly interested to the point
where they wished to participate. Within a few months, the men formed a group known as the Men of
St. Andrew s. As their interest in the game grew, golf clubs and balls began arriving from Scotland. By
the end of the summer, the three original holes in the cow pasture had become inadequate. The Men of
St. Andrew s made their first move to a thirty acre meadow owned by the local butcher. In November
of that same year, during a dinner party at Reid s house, the St. Andrew s Golf Club was formally
organized. Reid became the President with John Upham as the Secretary. Over the years, St. Andrew s

Film Industry In Louisiana
The film industry in Louisiana has seen tremendous growth in the last decade due to a generous film
tax credit program. The big motion picture companies seem to be bringing more pictures to be filmed
in Hollywood South claiming the films create jobs and spur economic growth. Louisiana residents are
wowed by the chance to potentially see movies filmed in their neighborhoods, the chance to meet stars
and perhaps be an extra in a scene. Though many in the state are claiming that the film tax credit
program is too costly to maintain.
Proponents of the program cite the increased number of movies filmed in Louisiana as a key indicator
of the program s success. Several other states have similar programs, though no film tax credit
program is as beneficial to film companies as Louisiana s program. The film industry has increased so
significantly in Louisiana that in 2013 more major motion pictures were filmed in Louisiana than in
any other state. Films made in Louisiana do create jobs.
Economists argue that the long term tax film credits are generating debt and not revenue. They claim
the jobs that are created in are temporary, low wage positions and the state is better off investing their
money in a less risky industry. Louisiana economists state that the success of the program should be

The Sarbanes Oxley Act Summary And Introduction
Reforms have been created to close the gap of corporate governance and financial reporting in order to
prevent the reoccurrence of corporate scandals. Congress created a federal bill named the Sarbanes
Oxley (SOX) Act in July 2002 in response to the Enron and WorldCom scandals that introduced major
changes to the regulation of corporate governance and financial practice in order to protect the interest
of investors and the public ( Sarbanes Oxley Act Summary and Introduction, 2003). The Act is
extensive in corporate governance, which is a comprehensive theory concerned with the alignment of
management and shareholders interest. The sections of the bill cover responsibilities of a public
corporation s board of directors, adds criminal penalties for certain misconduct, and requires the SEC
to create regulations to define how public corporations are to comply with the law (Slater, 2002). The
SEC has issued more than twenty rules implementing provisions of the Act pertaining to corporate
governance, financial reporting, and audit functions. The SEC has worked with NYSE and NASDAQ
to harmonize the new Corporate Governance Rules. Throughout the rest of this paper, the more
detailed listing requirements of the NYSE and NASDAQ will be discussed. Since the reforms are
extensive, these were selected for the discussion: the increased role of independent directors,

Total Energy Lab
The objective of this lab is to investigate the conservation of total energy. There are two parts to this
experiment: To investigate the conservation of energy for a ball that is launched upwards in a vertical
direction; and To investigate the principle of energy conservation using an air track and a glider.
For the first part, the principle of conservation of energy is investigated by launching a ball vertically
and comparing its total energy at the time of launch to its energy when it reaches its highest point. For
the second part, the principle of conservation of energy is tested out for an isolated system by
investigating how gravitational potential energy is transferred to kinetic energy for a glider (of mass

A comparison between the kinetic energy and potential energy is graphed in Figure 1. The two forces

best fit, the kinetic energy versus the potential energy is presented in Figure 2. The slope of the line is
0.9511, which represents that the potential energy lost is equal to the kinetic energy gained. Since the
ratio of kinetic energy to potential energy is one, it implies that all the potential energy to start with is
transformed to kinetic energy. The R2 is 0.9913. The difference between the results of the potential
energy and the kinetic energy shows that the experiment was a success for all ranges. Overall, the

Sqlite Essay
SQLite is an Open Source database. SQLite supports standard relational database features like SQL
syntax, transactions and prepared statements. The database requires limited memory at runtime
(approx. 250 KByte) which makes it a good candidate from being embedded into other runtimes.
SQLite supports the data types TEXT (similar to String in Java), INTEGER (similar to long in Java)
and REAL (similar to double in Java). All other types must be converted into one of these fields
before getting saved in the database. SQLite itself does not validate if the types written to the columns
are actually of the defined type, e.g. you can write an integer into a string column and vice versa.

Other more familiar database engines run great once you get them going. But doing the initial
installation and configuration can be intimidatingly complex.
Server less
Most SQL database engines are implemented as a separate server process. Programs that want to
access the database communicate with the server using some kind of interprocess communication
(typically TCP/IP) to send requests to the server and to receive back results. SQLite does not work this
way. With SQLite, the process that wants to access the database reads and writes directly from the
database files on disk. There is no intermediary server process. There are advantages and
disadvantages to being server less. The main advantage is that there is no separate server process to
install, setup, configure, initialize, manage, and troubleshoot. This is one reason why SQLite is a zero
configuration database engine. Programs that use SQLite require no administrative support for setting
up the database engine before they are run. Any program that is able to access the disk is able to use
an SQLite database.
On the other hand, a database engine that uses a server can provide better protection from bugs in the
client application stray pointers in a client cannot corrupt memory on the server. And because a server
is a single persistent process, it is able control database access with more precision, allowing for finer
grain locking and better concurrency.

The Lumiere Brothers brought motion pictures to India in 1896, and since then there has been no

movies each year. The Indian Film Industry is witnessing mark improvements on all spheres from the

This has however not been the case with the rest of the states in India. Therefore, to avoid market
fragmentation and distortions, a uniform and rational tax structure is required for the growth of the
film industry.
The funding of films either through non banking finance companies, venture funds, corporate funds or
through corporate finance, was a significant shift from the traditional film financing model. IDBI was
the first to start funding film production, that too, to big banners, big names and established film
personalities. The traditional model used amongst others distributors funds, personal finances of
producers, money lenders. Obviously, there were inherent drawbacks attached to these modes of
financing.
Moreover, even banks are not forthcoming in financing film projects. Therefore, venture capital and
private equity investment was clearly seen as a solution based on their appetite for risk and a
conducive legal framework.
Under the applicable law in India, there is no restriction on private equity investment into film making
directly, without routing it, via venture capital regulations as venture capital. However, there are issues
involved with such direct (non venture capital regulations routed) investment, which they could avoid
by operating via applicable venture capital regulations.
Corporatization of the Indian Film Industry has led to increased

The Competition Between Coca Cola And Coca-Cola
In economics, competition is where rivalry is portrayed in terms of achieving the goal such as

Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ Is a Warning Against the...
Ambition plays a major role in Shakespeare s tragedy of Macbeth, and is presented as a dangerous
quality that principally influences the characters to do wrong. This play gives off a warning of how
ambition can affect people and their actions by its influence on Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth.
This disastrous story begins with the witches predicting that Macbeth would become Thane of Cawdor
and then King of Scotland. Hence, Macbeth s ambition emerges, furthermore persuaded by his wife
and also the prophecies that he depended on so well. He murders King Duncan and others and
accordingly becomes the new ruler of Scotland. These actions are ones based on the dangers of
ambition, thus making it the fatal flaw that causes their downfall. ... Show more content on

This is similar to Macbeth s situation since his ambition would drive him to clear the obstacle of
Duncan and thus become king. Macbeth gives into his dominating ambition and murders King
Duncan. Hence, Macbeth becomes the King of Scotland. When Macbeth also realises that there were
more obstacles in his path, he unhesitatingly commits more murder, and slays his best friend Banquo
and Macduff s family, gaining his status of king for longer, or so he thought. This states that ambition
can make you a heartless person so that you will do anything to attain your objective. Thus it is shown
that the play Macbeth is a caution against the threats of ambition. Even after Macbeth s ambition leads
to a fatal ending for those around him, he still wouldn t doubt the witches words. Macbeth shall never
vanquish d be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him (Act 4, Sc. 1,
Lines 91 93). This prediction that is made by the witches furthermore expands Macbeth s aspiration,
making him believe that he is invincible. This way of thought causes his and his wife s downfall. This
is seen since Lady Macbeth commits suicide from what ambition has done to her life, and Macbeth,
being so trusting in the witches words, doesn t take anything other then his own ambition into account.
At the end of the play, Macbeth is killed in the battle without mercy by Macduff.

The rise in prescription drugs abuse is linked with the increased number of medications prescribed to
treat chronic pain associated with military service connected injuries. The DOD Survey of Health
related Behaviors Among Active Duty military personnel estimated prevalence rate of service
members actively using illicit drugs at 12 percent, prescription drug misuse at 11 percent, heavy
alcohol use at 20%, and tobacco, including smokeless, at 31 percent (Bray et al., 2010). Numerous
studies have addressed the attitudes and beliefs contributing to stigmatization of mental health issues
within military populations (Dickstein, Vogt, Handa, Litza, 2010). The development of these stigmas
is deeply associated in the traditions and culture that exists in the military. Ame and Cunradi (2005)
stated that workplace culture in the military could be a risk factor for heavy alcohol use or binge
drinking. Additionally, alcohol access is readily available at reduced prices on most military

and those who are not. The findings suggest that those in treatment have lower perceptions of stigma

Reflection Of The Fight On Human Rights And Reproductive...
I first really recognized the fight for social justice on June 25, 2013. This was the day Wendy Davis
defended reproductive rights at the Texas Capitol for 13 hours. I grew up in a politically active
climate, but watching a livestream of the Texas Legislature that night had more of an effect on me than
anything I had done or witnessed before. I am interested in the Bridging Disciplines Program s Human
Rights and Social Justice certificate because from that night on I have become aware of the incredible
amount of injustice in the world. For a little while, I wanted to be a public official like Wendy Davis.
However, after I started taking classes at UT, I immediately became interested in court cases.
Especially, I loved the class Supreme Court and Public Policy. It struck me that most human rights
victories came from the courts rather than the legislature. Just three years after the filibuster, this
proved true to me yet again when the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional the law Wendy Davis
had attempted to block. The Senators and by extension the Texas voters couldn t stop this injustice, but
the courts did.
By completing this certificate, I hope to learn about different human rights movements from across the
world. I will look to answer why certain movements succeeded and certain movements have failed or
are still in progress. While I don t plan on specializing in a strand due to the limited time I have to
complete this certificate, I am most interested in the Theory,

A Study On Big Five Factor Model
A study was conducted to test using the Big Five Factor Model (Costa McCrae, 1995) to measure
whether different personalities can or cannot be observed with a group of 1006 Inuit children from
Northern Canada who spoke the Inuktitut language between the ages of 9 to 12 year old who were
recruited for the study. The International Personality Item Pool (IPIP) measure scale was used and the
five item measure scales selected were: (Extraversion, Neuroticism, Openness, Agreeableness
Conscientiousness) , (Goldberg, 1999). The study produced results that Conscientiousness scored the
highest amongst the Inuit children more than expected. This could have been due to the nurturing and
parenting styles of the Inuit community. There is a need for further studies to be conducted with the
parents, caregivers, and educators of the Inuit children to confirm whether their personality findings
was correct. Extended research may have findings of significant differences depending on the

The Disasters The Days Of Grace Analysis
In this passage, the author encourages writers to use memories from their childhoods, specifically
from holidays, as material for their writing. Holidays are a good place to start when remembering your
childhood. They are often memorable. People often take pictures, which can also trigger memories.
Remembering a detail about someone or seeing a picture of them can lead to even more memories.
This can help the writer recall another event that is harder to remember, but had a greater impact on
them.
Holidays are often joyful, but can sometimes lead to anger or embarrassment. This is shown by the

disappointment in her own family. She believes that her family members are clueless and is

her own. This exemplifies her belief that people are constantly judging her. Something as minor as an

Essay It Takes Warships and Commandos to Fight Pirates on...
In the last decade, piracy at sea has been a common headline in news publications around the world.
News from cargo ships hijacked and their crews kidnapped for ransom off the coast of Africa almost
seem to be an everyday cry for action from the international community. This illegal activity, common
since the first merchant vessels sailed the seas many centuries ago, has been a problem that
civilization has yet to resolve. However, the maritime shipping industry and the world s most invested
countries in maritime trade have responded effectively to these attacks in the past few years by taking
matters into their own hands. Specifically, many countries around the world have been deploying anti

They understand that their skiffs and small weapons are no real match against the manpower,
firepower, and endurance of a naval vessel. At the same time, these criminals also understand that anti
piracy navy operations are expensive and cannot cover the entire Gulf of Aden. Once pirates get
control of a ship, it is very unusual for naval forces to be able to intervene successfully; the risks to the
ship s crew are too high says Hughes (2013, para. 10). With this in mind, shipping companies
approached this problem with a hands on strategy.
To put it differently, naval patrols off the coast of Somalia have not been as effective against piracy as
expected. Consequently, the maritime shipping industry turned to the private security industry for a
solution. As a result, most ships that transit piracy hot spots like the Gulf of Aden have armed security
teams on board, much like mercenaries. According to Rix (as cited in Tide turns against pirates, 2013),
ships provided with an armed security detail have never been successfully hijacked. The fight is
always short when pirates attack armed cargo ships. In the vast majority of cases, the commandos
onboard repel pirate attacks without major difficulties due to their higher ground position, tactical
training, and better weapons. A simple show of force or an occasional warning shot is normally
enough for pirates to back down.
In essence, taking the fight

Automated Valuation Models ( Avm )
Automated valuation models (AVM) according to the RICS AVM Standards working group are
systems that use one or more mathematical techniques to provide an estimate of the value of a
specified property at a specified date, accompanied by a measure of confidence in the accuracy of the
result, without human intervention post initiation. They combine property sales data, property
attributes data as well as local market information (RICS 2013, Corelogic (n.d)); these form the
variables that are fed into the model. Models typically comprise one dependent variable which is the
estimated property value and several independent variables (property attributes data) which take turns
in explaining the dependent variable (RICS, 2013). AVMs vary depending on the modelling technique
adopted, the methodology and independent variables adopted. Choice is solely down to the provider s
specification (RICS, 2013). Examples of the different models include; multiple regression model,
indexation, sales comparison models and automated comparable selection and artificial neural
networks. AVMs have been around for a while. However, market acceptance has been slow, tentative
and somewhat phased. There has been a significant increase in the use of AVMs in valuing properties
for taxation purposes (RCIS 2013, Adair and McGeal 1988). This is primarily due to the somewhat
cumbersome nature of the traditional single parcel appraisal method adopted by valuers, which is also
very cost intensive (O Neil, 2004).

Government Failure And Market Failure
Government failure and Market Failure
Introduction
Regulations imposed by the government in any economy determine the market efficiency and growth.
Policies and laws governing the flow of goods and out flow determined the internal trade affairs.
When the government formulates policies and regulations, which is the market conducive, efficiency
is enhanced. In such instances, the outcomes of the market yields can be predicted. Such ability of the
policies and regulations to enhance efficiency in the markets can be enabling the government to have
prior arrangements and plans concerning future economic goals. On the other hand, as the governing
body there is a need to establish the effectiveness of the current policies in enhancing marketing
efficiency. However, there is a need to establish the criteria for determining the correctness and
effectiveness of the regulations which are to be set. Governing body should intervene in the control of
the market regulations though independent bodies and private sectors should be involved in such
regulations formulations. Many economies, such the United states and United Kingdom, the
government has the power to intervene in the market policies. When the market fails in such instances,
the government is blamed for the failure. The modern economies advocates for more freedom of
choice in the formulation of regulations of the markets. Others concentrate on the efficiency of the
policies and regulations in the achievement of the market goals.

  • 3. The Discovery Of The Tomb Introduction In ancient Egypt, a boy dies mysteriously. Quickly buried in a small tomb, he lies peacefully, undisturbed. Thousands of years later, in February 1922, a man named Howard Carter finds the boy s tomb. Named the discovery of the century, the discovery of the tomb answers so many questions, but creates a mystery that takes its place in the world s greatest unsolved mysteries. I selected the topic of Tutankhamun because I have an interest in Egyptian pharaohs, and Tutankhamun s mystery intrigues me. Tutankhamun came to throne at only about eight or nine years old. About ten years later, he dies. How? Some theories include a chariot accident, he was murdered, or died from disease. This research report will include the events before Tutankhamun s life that led to him becoming king, his short reign, death, the chain of events that Tutankhamun caused after his death, and jump ahead in the timeline to his discovery thousands of years later. The Six Lenses Overview Geography Ancient Egypt had the world s largest river, the Nile River, running right through it. Most people lived in the fertile soil near the Nile, called the Nile Valley. The Nile is over 4000 miles long, which is as long as traveling from California to Georgia and back again. The Nile is actually two rivers, the White Nile and the Blue Nile. Background information: Biological macromolecules are the large molecules necessary for life. There are four different types of macromolecules which include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Each macromolecule has a specific function like providing energy or simply insulation. Macromolecules are made from monomers which come together through dehydration synthesis or hydrolysis to create the polymer or macromolecule. Carbohydrates are made from monosaccharides which are shaped like hexagons and come together to make polysaccharides which provide quick energy, structural support for plants (cellulose in cell walls) and are also found as chitin in the exoskeletons of arthropods. Lipids are made from glycerol and three fatty acids and are found in two different forms unsaturated and saturated. Lipids provide long term energy storage, insulate and cushion, and prevent water loss. Proteins are made from amino acids which come together forming a protein with peptide bonds. Proteins serve as hormones, muscle, parts of the immune system, and enzymes but if they are the wrong shape, they can t do their job. Nucleic acids are made from nucleotides and serve as DNA and RNA which store genetic info and transfer info to make new cells. Case Study Of Ant Colony Optimization 1.6 Ant Colony Optimization: 1.6.1 Introduction The conception of massive Gordian behavior emerging from the behavior of many relatively simple units, and the dealings with them, is fundamental to the field of Artificial Intelligence. The growing understanding of such systems offers the prospect of creating artificial systems which are controlled by such significant shared behavior; in particular, we believe that the sweating of this concept might lead to entirely new channels for the pilotage of distributed systems, such as load balancing in telecommunications networks. In such regimes, requests between any two points typically route through some central switching bureau or nodes in a big system; there are many future paths for each such call. It is thus viable to emancipate actual or potential local hurdles by routing requests via parts of the system which have extra capacity. Load balancing is essentially the creation of call routing schemes which successfully assign the changing load over the system and curtail lost requests. Of course, it is viable to determine the shortest routes from every node to every other node of the network. • 18. Mechanisms of Data Communication and Signals Data communication refers to the transmission of electronic information over shared communication mediums. This transmission can be generated from electronic sources such as computers, phones, cameras and even audio sources such as speakers. Due to the various types of sources from which data is derived, each source requires a mechanism that gathers and prepares the data for transmission. This may include digitizing data, or encoding to ensure the privacy of the data during transmission. This data is then passed along a communications channel to the destination, or receiver, in the form of an analog or digital signal and mixed with other multiple pieces of data through a shared channel. In order to avoid confusion, mechanisms must be in place that can identify each source and ensure that the data sent from those sources arrive at the intended destination and not become lost and confused with other data in the same channel. (Comer, 2014). The propagation of data is accomplished by conducting energy in the form of electromagnetic waves called signals. Depending on the source and the devices that operate in the communication channels, analog and digital are the two types of signals transmitted to the receiver. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to how Cleopatra killed herself (but since the ulterior motive was her love for Antony, she was placed in Circle 2), Gru certainly exhibits wrathful behavior, but his actions go only so far as to support his main sin of thievery. This aligns with Dante s view of the Inferno where each character is placed in only one circle with the greater influence on his or her life and decisions. Moreover, since Dante believes in sins aligning with the intent of the sinner, it makes sense that Gru, who has spent his whole life stealing, is punished for his sins as a thief and not as a wrathful individual since his intent was to be a super villain and not a furious sinner. His thievery enabled him to be wrathful, not the other way around, so his intent remains with Circle 8 and thievery. While Gru certainly earns some retribution by opening his heart to the love of the children, especially when he said I love you too to Margo near the end, he would still go to Hell because he is still an active thief who denies the grace and love of God (Despicable Me). Hence, since he denies the grace of God, he would for sure be lower than Circle 6 and into the area of the Inferno of the Sins of Lion, which are sins of violence and ambition and would not be in the sins of incontinence (which are the first half of the Inferno). Dante specifies how Malice is the sin most hated by God because those who commit those sins do so willingly and without the love of Divine Illumination (Alighieri 11.22). Proponents of the program cite the increased number of movies filmed in Louisiana as a key indicator of the program s success. Several other states have similar programs, though no film tax credit program is as beneficial to film companies as Louisiana s program. The film industry has increased so significantly in Louisiana that in 2013 more major motion pictures were filmed in Louisiana than in any other state. Films made in Louisiana do create jobs. Economists argue that the long term tax film credits are generating debt and not revenue. The Sarbanes Oxley Act Summary And Introduction Reforms have been created to close the gap of corporate governance and financial reporting in order to prevent the reoccurrence of corporate scandals. Congress created a federal bill named the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Act in July 2002 in response to the Enron and WorldCom scandals that introduced major changes to the regulation of corporate governance and financial practice in order to protect the interest of investors and the public ( Sarbanes Oxley Act Summary and Introduction, 2003). The Act is extensive in corporate governance, which is a comprehensive theory concerned with the alignment of management and shareholders interest. The sections of the bill cover responsibilities of a public corporation s board of directors, adds criminal penalties for certain misconduct, and requires the SEC to create regulations to define how public corporations are to comply with the law (Slater, 2002). The SEC has issued more than twenty rules implementing provisions of the Act pertaining to corporate governance, financial reporting, and audit functions. The SEC has worked with NYSE and NASDAQ to harmonize the new Corporate Governance Rules. Throughout the rest of this paper, the more detailed listing requirements of the NYSE and NASDAQ will be discussed. There are two parts to this experiment: To investigate the conservation of energy for a ball that is launched upwards in a vertical direction; and To investigate the principle of energy conservation using an air track and a glider. For the first part, the principle of conservation of energy is investigated by launching a ball vertically and comparing its total energy at the time of launch to its energy when it reaches its highest point. For the second part, the principle of conservation of energy is tested out for an isolated system by investigating how gravitational potential energy is transferred to kinetic energy for a glider (of mass m) sliding on an air ... Using the best fit, the kinetic energy versus the potential energy is presented in Figure 2. The slope of the line is 0.9511, which represents that the potential energy lost is equal to the kinetic energy gained. Since the ratio of kinetic energy to potential energy is one, it implies that all the potential energy to start with is transformed to kinetic energy. The R2 is 0.9913. The database requires limited memory at runtime (approx. 250 KByte) which makes it a good candidate from being embedded into other runtimes. All other types must be converted into one of these fields before getting saved in the database. Programs that want to access the database communicate with the server using some kind of interprocess communication (typically TCP/IP) to send requests to the server and to receive back results. SQLite does not work this way. With SQLite, the process that wants to access the database reads and writes directly from the database files on disk. There is no intermediary server process. There are advantages and disadvantages to being server less. The main advantage is that there is no separate server process to install, setup, configure, initialize, manage, and troubleshoot. This is one reason why SQLite is a zero configuration database engine. Programs that use SQLite require no administrative support for setting up the database engine before they are run. Any program that is able to access the disk is able to use an SQLite database. On the other hand, a database engine that uses a server can provide better protection from bugs in the client application stray pointers in a client cannot corrupt memory on the server. Ambition plays a major role in Shakespeare s tragedy of Macbeth, and is presented as a dangerous quality that principally influences the characters to do wrong. This play gives off a warning of how ambition can affect people and their actions by its influence on Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth. This disastrous story begins with the witches predicting that Macbeth would become Thane of Cawdor and then King of Scotland. Hence, Macbeth s ambition emerges, furthermore persuaded by his wife and also the prophecies that he depended on so well. He murders King Duncan and others and accordingly becomes the new ruler of Scotland. This is similar to Macbeth s situation since his ambition would drive him to clear the obstacle of Duncan and thus become king. Macbeth gives into his dominating ambition and murders King Duncan. Hence, Macbeth becomes the King of Scotland. When Macbeth also realises that there were more obstacles in his path, he unhesitatingly commits more murder, and slays his best friend Banquo and Macduff s family, gaining his status of king for longer, or so he thought. This states that ambition can make you a heartless person so that you will do anything to attain your objective. Thus it is shown that the play Macbeth is a caution against the threats of ambition. Even after Macbeth s ambition leads to a fatal ending for those around him, he still wouldn t doubt the witches words. Macbeth shall never vanquish d be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him (Act 4, Sc. 1, Lines 91 93). This prediction that is made by the witches furthermore expands Macbeth s aspiration, making him believe that he is invincible. This way of thought causes his and his wife s downfall. Drug and alcohol use has been an easy escape and a coping mechanism for those service members who struggle to forget their traumatic war experiences and daily stressors (Jacobson et al., 2008). This illegal activity, common since the first merchant vessels sailed the seas many centuries ago, has been a problem that civilization has yet to resolve. At the same time, these criminals also understand that anti piracy navy operations are expensive and cannot cover the entire Gulf of Aden. Once pirates get control of a ship, it is very unusual for naval forces to be able to intervene successfully; the risks to the ship s crew are too high says Hughes (2013, para. 10). With this in mind, shipping companies approached this problem with a hands on strategy. To put it differently, naval patrols off the coast of Somalia have not been as effective against piracy as expected. Consequently, the maritime shipping industry turned to the private security industry for a solution. As a result, most ships that transit piracy hot spots like the Gulf of Aden have armed security teams on board, much like mercenaries. Automated Valuation Models ( Avm ) Automated valuation models (AVM) according to the RICS AVM Standards working group are systems that use one or more mathematical techniques to provide an estimate of the value of a specified property at a specified date, accompanied by a measure of confidence in the accuracy of the result, without human intervention post initiation. They combine property sales data, property attributes data as well as local market information (RICS 2013, Corelogic (n.d)); these form the variables that are fed into the model. Models typically comprise one dependent variable which is the estimated property value and several independent variables (property attributes data) which take turns in explaining the dependent variable (RICS, 2013). AVMs vary depending on the modelling technique adopted, the methodology and independent variables adopted. Choice is solely down to the provider s specification (RICS, 2013). Examples of the different models include; multiple regression model, indexation, sales comparison models and automated comparable selection and artificial neural networks. AVMs have been around for a while. However, market acceptance has been slow, tentative and somewhat phased. There has been a significant increase in the use of AVMs in valuing properties for taxation purposes (RCIS 2013, Adair and McGeal 1988). This is primarily due to the somewhat cumbersome nature of the traditional single parcel appraisal method adopted by valuers, which is also very cost intensive (O Neil, 2004). ...
