Writing Scientific Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Writing Scientific Essays" presents a unique set of
challenges that can be both intellectually stimulating and demanding. The intricacies involved in
effectively conveying scientific concepts while maintaining clarity and precision can be
daunting. Navigating the fine line between comprehensibility and scientific accuracy requires a
keen understanding of the topic at hand and a mastery of the conventions of scientific writing.
One of the primary difficulties lies in the need to strike a balance between accessibility and
depth. Ensuring that the content remains comprehensible to a diverse audience while delving
into the complexities of scientific principles demands a careful selection of language and an
adept use of explanatory tools. Additionally, synthesizing vast amounts of information and
condensing it into a coherent, logically structured essay poses a considerable challenge.
Moreover, writing scientific essays often involves a meticulous adherence to specific formatting
and citation styles, such as APA, MLA, or Chicago. Managing these intricate details while
maintaining a cohesive narrative can be time-consuming and requires a meticulous approach to
detail.
Another layer of complexity arises in the necessity to incorporate up-to-date research and
findings, ensuring the essay is not only informative but also reflects the current state of the field.
This requires extensive research and a thorough understanding of the latest advancements,
adding a layer of dynamism to the writing process.
In conclusion, tackling the task of composing an essay on the intricacies of scientific writing is
no small feat. It demands a combination of in-depth knowledge, a nuanced understanding of the

Ecological Problems Facing United States Today
There are many ecological problems facing us in the United States today. Among
those issues includes global warming, our dependence on fossil fuel, saving our
endangered wildlife, and ensuring that we have safe and sufficient water. There is
one environmental issue, however, that streams across all these areas, and threatens
the safety of our country, and of many bodies of water all over the world, and that is
the issue of Oil Spills. An oil spillcan be defined as, an unintentional release of crude
oil or refined oil products into the environment. Oil spills are considered to be a
major source of chemical pollution. Most of these spills occur through human
error, however, there are cases where oil seeps through deposits under the ocean
floor. These spills can occur on land, in the ocean, and even when oil is spilled
down storm drains that lead directly into lakes and rivers. Not only do oil spills
threaten to destroy our ecosystem and endanger our wildlife, oil spills can be
harmful to human beings as well. The reason that this is so stems from the fact that
oil itself is considered to be semi volatile. This means that it can evaporate into the
air and create a heavy vapor which lingers and can be breathed in by humans, and
can travel deeply into people s lungs. This can in turn cause many health issues such
as nausea, vomiting, headaches, and even difficulty breathing. Over an even longer
period of time, the chemicals that are found in oil, and that are evaporated into
Catcher In The Rye Literary Analysis
The Catcher in the Rye is a coming of age novel by J.D. Salinger published in 1945.
The novel shows this by the use of teen culture which started at approximately that
time. The purpose of this novel is to entertain and inform the intended audience of
teenagers. This is achieved through the use of irony, motifs, metaphors, and
symbolism. This results in a relatable theme of protection of innocence, a realistic
protagonist and messages that are beneficial for the audience. The Catcher in the Rye
s main theme is the protection of innocence this theme develops characters and makes
the text relevant to the intended audience. Holden wishes to protect children from
losing their innocence, preventing them from entering a world of phoney adults....

To convey the moral messages Salinger uses symbolism. Holden s diary starts after
he is expelled from Pency Prep and decides to run away to New York. On his trip
he spends most of his time trying to seduce girls, for Holden this act symbolises
adulthood. Holden tries many times, although when the opportunity presents itself
with a prostitute he declines (Pp. 105 110). This shows Holden s inner conflict
between childhood and adulthood and his predisposition towards childhood.
Giving the reader the moral message that it is ok to not grow up right away
contributing to the main issue of Holden s choice between losing and protecting
innocence. This issue is resolved when Holden watches Phoebe ride a carousel. On
the carousel there is a gold ring that children are meant to collect that symbolises
adulthood. Holden realises that although there is risk to the children grabbing the
gold ring they need to be allowed to do it, All the kids kept trying to grab for the
gold ring, and so was old Phoebe, and I was sort of afraid she d fall off [...], but I
didn t say anything or do anything. The thing with kids is, if they want to grab for
the gold ring, you have to let them do it, and not say anything. (Pg. 232). This
symbolises that children need to be allowed to explore their lives, even if it means
their innocence may one day be lost. This communicates the moral message that it is
ok to let others and themselves grow up, despite the risks. Holden realises that
people need to be allowed to explore the world on their own despite the risk. The
book is successful in informing the audience through the use of moral messages as
they are messages that would be helpful for the teenage audience. The plot helps to
successfully show through symbolism Holden s inner conflict between adulthood and
childhood, and, losing and protecting
Jamaica Kincaid s Girl
In the essay Girl by Jamaica Kincaid there are references to many social problems
that were prevalent earlier in society that still apply to today s society. In this essay
the author is giving advice to her teenage daughter where she teachers her the proper
etiquette and what was expected of a woman in her view. In this story the author
Kincaid seems to be the motherand the teenage daughter is probably her daughter, in
a different way of viewing she may be the daughter herself reflecting on the past,
but it s not very relevant to the meaning of the literature. In this essay I will explain
how the way women are viewed in today s society have changed, as well as what
remains of the past that has yet to be overcome. I will also try and analyze and give
my theory as to why Kincaid decided to write her story the way she did.
The main cultural issue this story focuses on is women s right and how they re
viewed in society. Earlier in society as well as in third world countries women play a
more home wife lifestyle which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s just one task after the other, again and again with a lot of repetition. Wash the

freedom at all. With this style the author is trying to put you in the daughter s
shoes, to make you feel like you re being lectured and that you have no freedom
and can only do what she says. She also uses the word slut frequently, which I m no
so sure how I feel about. Again it feels when she uses the word out of the blue that
you re just being lectured, and that even though you haven t done anything wrong
you ve already been labeled a slut. By wording it the way she did it may persuade the
reader to realize that this way of life for the teenager has no
Analysis Of David Ogilvy s The Consumer Isn t A Moron
Professional Advertiser David Ogilvy
The consumer isn t a moron. She is your wife. A strongly worded quote from David
Ogilvy highlights the importance of the relationship and connection necessary
between and advertiser and his or her consumer. Ogilvy, like many others, started
from the bottom and worked tirelessly to the top. Born in Oxford,
England on June 23, 1911, David would live the next twenty seven years in and
around his hometown. David studied at two different colleges and ended up
graduating from neither Fettes College nor Christ Church. Going nowhere fast, David
began a career working in a kitchen.
Not long into his career there did he realize the job description did not match his
big ideas for what his life was supposed to be like. David spoke the following words
about his kitchen work: If I stayed at the Majestic I would have faced years of slave
wages, fiendish pressure, and perpetual exhaustion. Quitting this career opened the
door for his big change in the advertising world. ( David Ogilvy Biography | Ogilvy
Mather )
Ogilvy began selling stoves to everyone. Nothing out of the ordinary or overpriced
expensive appliances, but a simple generic cooking stove became David s first
encounter with consumers face to face. David took this door to door work very
seriously and became one with his clientele. He never limited himself when the sale
came down to a consumer. Whether the consumer was a religious service member or
a single mother, David spread his
Cry, The Beloved Country
Alan Paton s Cry, the Beloved Country takes place during the late 1940 s in
Southern Africa. Specifically, in High Place, Ndotsheni, and Johannesburg. It takes
place during a time of social change. There is racial inequality taking place during
the late 1940 s. The novel shows what it was like to be living during this time. Cry,
the Beloved Country has an urban and crowded feeling for most of the novel. This
novel is written in past tense, third person omniscient point of view. Occasionally, the
narrator would shift from characterto character. Since it is written in an omniscient
point of view, the reader gains better knowledge on not only the plot; but a better
understanding of the characters, too. It also helps the reader get a well rounded
perspective of what the setting was like. Cry, the Beloved Country consists of thirty
six chapters that vary in length. This novel has a simple plot. The characters in the
novel are very believable and are revealed simply by stating their name and a
description, or with background knowledge of the character. There are quite a few
characters in Cry, the Beloved Country and their role is to help move the plot along.
The central characters are Arthur Jarvis, Theophilus Msimangu, AbsalomKumalo,
James Jarvis, and Stephen Kumalo.
Stephen Kumalo is a sensitive, humble, and godly man.Sometimes, his anger can get
the best of him but he always apologizes immediately after. He goes through a lot of
suffering throughout the novel. He is the
Ficer Corps And The Noncommissioned Officer
Abstract The officer corps and the noncommissioned officer corps in the Army go all
the back to before the founding fathers formed the country. Both of these corps have
adapted and changed according to wars and conflicts the nation has participated. The
success of the Army is dependent on the ability of officers and noncommissioned
officers to work together. Training, education and mentorship lead to officers and
noncommissioned officerserving as the cornerstone of the Army. Establishing roles
and responsibilities It is important to understand the roles that officers and non
commissioned officers hold in the Army. Without this understanding, officers and non
commissioned officers become stranded and confused. The Army has continuously
updated regulations, field manuals, and other doctrine to keep up with the ever
changing operational environment the Army operates in. Army Doctrine Publication
(ADP) 6 22 and Army Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 6 22 clearly establish
the roles of the officer and the non commissioned officer. Additional Army doctrine
provides for other miscellaneous tasks or responsibilities that officers and non
commissioned officers either share or work together to accomplish. A simple
example is Training Circular (TC) 3 21, Drill and Ceremony. The non
commissioned officer has the bulk of the responsibility to conduct but the officer
does have a role as the commander of troops. Although Drill and Ceremony not does
specifically address a
Why I Want To Work In Political Science
My major is Government (Political Science) and of course I am going to get a job
that ties into my Political Science degree. Since Political Sciences is basically the
study of politics, I want to work in place where politics is the main focus. So that s
why I choose to work for CNN. And CNN is a company that employs people who
have great knowledge and understanding of politics. Cable News Network is basic
cable and satellite television news channel owned by turner broadcasting system.
CNN was founded in the year 1980 by American media proprietor Ted Turner as a

The site is updated continuously throughout the day. I also want to work for CNN
because they are a company that knows how to experiment and try other things to
help the company grow to become better. CNN has launched two specialty news
channels for the American market which would later close amid competitive
pressure: the sports news channel CNNSI shut down in 2002, while business news
channel CNNfn shut down after nine years on the air in December 2004. CNN also
once had a partnership with Sports Illustrated through the sports website
CNNSI.com, but sold the domain name in May 2015. CNNfn s former website now
redirects to money.cnn.com, a product of CNN s strategic partnership with Money
magazine. Money and Sports Illustrated were both Time Warner properties until
2014, when the company s magazine division was spun off into the separate Time
Inc. Also back in 2012 , CNN launched CNN Films which is a motion picture
division of CNN. CNN films mainly produced original feature length documentaries
that will examine an array of political, social, and economic subject matters.
And my final reason of why I want to work at cnn is biggest and arguably the most
most popular news network ever. According to adweekly, driven by live coverage of
the year s US presidential election, 2016 was CNN s most watched year in its history.
Examples Of James Pursuit For Absolute Power

Absolutist Essay
Thesis: James pursuit for absolute power gave him his success in Scotland but when
he arrived in England he failed in his fight against the parliament since they weren t
used to this type of governing.
James became King of Scotland in 1567. During his 25 years as King he was fairly
successful. He could peacefully enjoy absolute power under his reign in Scotland.
He makes these policies which will help him on his road to becoming king of England
. A new Challenge arises when he is chosen as King of England in 1603.
James was born in 1566 to Mary, Queen of the Scots. James had originally been
placed in the Scottish throne after his mother had been removed, he was 13 months
old. During his early years as king ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At one point, James s main issue was that he didn t understand the rights or amount
of power the English parliament and because of that he was in constant conflict
with the Parliament. In four year as leader he duplicated Mary s debt. Due to his
altercations with the parliament James dissolved the Parliament four times. In
1610 when Robert Cecil, Earl of Salisbury proposed this Great Contract where
James would give feudal revenue to the parliament in exchange for a fixed sum.
This resulted in nothing but the parliament being dissolved. in 1612, Robert Cecil
died marking turning point in James reign because he would never have a chief
minister so powerful and experienced. In James Writing of The True Law of Free
Monarchies; or, The Reciprocal and Mutual Duty Betwixt a Free King and His
Natural Subjects he talks about his position and the respect people should have for
him and how he wants to lead his during his reign. James says how the Parliament

but craved by his subjects and only made by him at their rogation [act of
submitting a law for the king s acceptance.] by this he means that parliament do
have a certain amount of power but everything that they do is monitored by James.
In this passage, James refers to many of his beliefs that were listed before. For
example, Kings are called gods by the prophetical King
A Rhetorical Analysis Of Abigail Adams Letter To John...
Abigail Adams writes to her son, John Quincy Adams, to give him advice during
his trip with his father. In her letter, Adams uses variations of tone, ethos, and
allusion to appeal to her son. From the very beginning, Adams tone expresses her
desire for her son to listen to her. The apologetic note that she opens with appears to
hope that any anger or bitterness towards her from her son would be squashed so
that he could see that she only had his best interests at her by making go on the
journey. The concerned tone she uses displays her hope that he take the advice she is
granting him and use it towards his advantage. She depicts her optimism when she
explains that the voyage would be beneficial to him hoping he would understand that
as his mother, she only wants is best for him. Adams goes on to use the parental tone
by explaining that he has opportunities others do not have and that he should
capitalize on them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

journey with his father because he was wasting his advantages. She goes on to
explain the world in lines 21 24, as a place that needed guidance that could be
provided by one like her son if he would only take on the responsibility of it. She is
appealing to his morality by stating that he has advantages others do not and he needs
to do something with them. She then goes on to appeal to his righteousness by saying
how War, Tyranny and Desolation are the scourges of the Almighty . She is indirectly
stating that the surrounding chaos is God s way of punishing man and that they need

Time Warner and AOL Merger Essay
Time Warner and AOL Merger
Time Warner Corporation has numerous subsidiaries which are moving media
materials across media boundaries. They are doing this in numerous ways, based on
synergies and joint ventures. For example some of these include gaining more access
to cable lines by a joint venture with US West, and merging with AOL. They are also
using a tactic called co development as properties are knitted together by sister
companies both interested in profiting off of them. This is a type of synergy because it
occurs within one media conglomerate itself, and it encourages cross media activity
between the two sister companies. Time Warner can place some of its music on its

Consumers will be more likely to buy the other product if they have bought on not
less likely. These types of synergies, which are basically collaborations within the
media conglomerate encourage sales by adding more excitement and the cross
promotion brings all of the products more visibility than they would be able to
receive on their own. This type of synergy is also happening in another section of the
Time Warner conglomerate. A Warner Books imprint, Mysterious Press is working
with a sister company, Time Warner Electronic Publishing. TWEP and online game
publisher Simutronics have joined forces to create an online, text based, interactive
mystery game that will draw on resources of Mysterious Press editors and its stable
of authors. These types of synergies can be very beneficial because they help to
bring some media material, in this case these stories across different types of medias,
and in this way they are cross advertising for each other.
Time Warner is also taking part in joint ventures which bring it more opportunities
to advertise and sell its products. For example, in 1993 Time Warner and US West
worked together to improve U.S. cable systems to an interactive fiber optic data
highway that could lead to such direct services to the home as music on demand and
video on demand. This deal was based on U.S. West investing $2.5 billion in Time
Warner Inc. which gave them a big stake (25.5%)in

Narrative Essay On Going To Chicago
You, Josie, have been accepted into GEM s World Academy Chicago! This was the
best day of my life. I have been accepted to the best private middle school in
Chicago with a full ride. All four years for free. I couldn t believe what just

Identity And Identity
The questions have been asked throughout the decades, what is identity and what
is religion. There is no surprise there is still no exact answerers for them both. The
idea of identity started in the 1930 by George Herbert Mead. His view about
identity is that society and self shapes social behavior. From George s theory it has
grown a substantial amount. Now if you were to Google what is identity thousands
of definitions and articles will come up. From our lecture, the Oxford dictionary
states identity is a set of characteristic or a description that distinguishes a person or
thing from others. I believe my own morals, ethics, and personal identities are unique
compared to the surrounding world. In today s world religionis a complicated and
sensitive subject. There are many kinds of religion; the huge ones are Christianity,
Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. These religions are easy to recognize
around the world because they have a symbol connected to it; Christianity has the
cross, Judaism has the Star of David and Islam has the moon and star. There are
also other religions out there that people do not know about. One example is the
religions of the giant flying spaghetti monster. A great aspect about religion is that
there are no set guidelines to what is and what is not religion. I believe a religion
must have three things before becoming an official religion; first there needs to be a
body of people who share the same ideals, second they must have faith and
The Competence Of A Patient
When a patient is autonomous an individual has the right to make decisions on his
own without the consent of outsiders such as nurses, doctors, or other caregivers.
Outsiders may attempt to influence the decisions of an autonomous person; it is
essential that patients are allowed to make well informed decisions without approval
from others. Although autonomymeans having freedom of choice, there are limits to
those choices. For example, if a patient is requesting anything illegal or unsafe,
caregivers do not have to honor his request. Decisions relating to a patient should not
be made without the patient s consent and interests in mind. The only way that a
caregiver may deviate from this requirement is if the patient is deemed as
incompetent or if there is an emergency situation. However, even if a patient is
incompetent this does not mean he is incompetent entirely. Just because a patient is
incompetent in one area of decision making, this is not necessarily true for all areas.
The competence of a patient may be assessed in terms of high and low risks. When a
patient is autonomous and competent his informed consent is required. The patient is
allowed to have a choice of healthcare providers and the treatments or procedures that
will be administered to him. In fact, a patient may make decisions for the future such
as creating a living will. Institutions must disclose all information regarding
treatments and procedures so that the patient will not be consenting to anything
Adaptations of Virginia Wolfe Essay
In approaching a topic such as adaptations, one has to first understand what exactly
adaptation means and how it is applied to such works to get the product the adapter
is trying to create and for what reasons they are adapting for. The American
Heritage Dictionary defines Adaptation as the following: 1(a). The act for process
of adapting. 1(b). The state of being adapted. 2. A composition recast into a new
form: The play is an adaptation of a short novel. 3. An alteration or adjustment by
which a species or individual improves itscondition in relationship to its environment.

Woolf takes the reader on a psychological roller coaster with flashbacks to Mrs.
Dalloway s life, specifically her teen age to college years. She shows us all of the
decisions Dalloway had to make and how those decisions had shaped her life.
Clarissa Dalloway had chosen a life that would be safe for her, by marrying well
and having a child, by living the proper political life. Throughout the novel,
Clarissa thinks back onto how she could have had a life of sexual freedom and
excitement with Richard, her ex lover from her college years. Of course this is all
put into play by the arrival of him from India, because she hadn t seen him in a
very long time. All of these occurrences and flashbacks just add to Clarissa s
growing depression that she barely is able to hold onto in the story. The most
interesting and most significant aspect of Mrs. Dalloway is that it takes place in
one day, which is what Cunningham and Daldry built their book and movie off of.
The idea of telling a story of a woman s thoughts in one day is an amazing one
because it is so intrinsic and specific that going past one day would take forever to
divulge and digest. One of the most important parts of Mrs. Dalloway is the
relationship between Septimus and Clarissa. Woolf uses Septimus, a war veteran
who s got shell shock, as the alternate persona to Clarissa. I like to think that
Septimus was the brain and
Geothermal Energy Potential For Solar Energy
For Longmont, solar energy may be the best option, although Hydro power,
Biomass, and Geothermal all present options. For Utica, solar energy potential was
very low, while the potential for Hydro power is high and most likely that best
option. For Cedar Rapids, solar energy potential was also relatively low, while
Biomass presents the greatest potential. Yuma has extremely high potential for solar
energy, so this seems to be the best option, but also has high potential for Geothermal
energy and Hydro power.
I would recommend the following to Mr. Greene for each of the four locations:
Longmont, CO: 70% Solar, 30% Geothermal
Utica, NY: 100% Solar
Cedar Rapids, IA: 30% Solar, 70% Biomass
Yuma, AZ: 80% Solar, 20% Geothermal

Criteria
Cost refers to the monetary value that the University of Florida would have to
distribute in order to create and maintain an alternative energy system. Specifically,
the University of Florida would finance labor and materials (including those that
make up the alternative energy system).
Efficiency refers to how well an alternative energy system creates usable energy.
Because many alternative energy systems rely on the physical location of certain
devices and thus are capable of being less efficient in certain physical locations,
location is an integral part of efficiency.
Methods
Research was conducted over the Internet. Specifically, the University of Florida s
online library system was used to find

Queer Identity Essay
At the same time we denote about what queer is as a social theory, led us to point

why the concept of queer was evaluated in LGBT movement? The most basic reason
is a question about the structure based theory of identity, held by postmodernist and
on entering it into the sexual socio sexual literature of queer.
Another reason may be considered that LGBT is the first took ownership of this

operational plan focused on customer service, being in stock on all products and
creating a better store appearance (inside the physical store and within the
community).
In efforts to focus on customer service, more employees were hired and trained.

walkie talkies, etc). There was a companywide initiative to integrate Hispanic
merchandise, marketing and staffing.
Home Depot switched to a regional distribution system while upgrading their internal
information technology infrastructure to better keep stores inventory stocked
properly. This major overhaul materialized into The Home Depot s stock outs
dramatically decreasing.
To create a stronger public image, Home Depot created The Home Depot Foundation

A birth defect left him with a withered left arm due to the disease Erb s palsy,
which he then tried with some success to conceal. Photos show him with a pair of

Employee Benefit Plans
Employee benefits are an important cog in the wheel of industry in today s busy
world. Oftentimes, potential employees are more interested in the benefits a
company provides than in the salary or compensation they will be receiving.
Potential employees oftentimes desire healthcare or insurance plans and pension
plans that will take care of them for the long term, not a short term benefit plan. In
the past, employers often took a cookie cutter approach, offering the exact same
benefits as every other company offered. Such an approach is no longer the norm,
instead many companies now work hand in hand with their employees to design
benefit plans that fit the employee s needs rather than the cheapest or most
convenient benefit plan available. As one recent report espoused a good example is
the shift from defined benefit pension plans for which employers bear the funding
burden to defined contribution plans, which are generally funded by employers and
employees together (Vandermillen, 2012, p. 19). According to Vandermillen,
employers now have the responsibility to make sure employees have the knowledge
and tools they need to help them make the most of their retirement benefits (p. 19).
Now employers not only have to provide benefits that are conducive to employee
retention but it seems that they also have to assist the employees in understanding
exactly how those benefits are advantageous to the employees. Employees from
different areas of the United States may
The System Of Collective Rights
A lot has been said about the Brazilian system for the protection of collective rights,
of its innovations in terms of procedure, and especially the possibility of protecting
interests that in the past could not reach the Courts. However, it seems that the
effectiveness of its execution is not discussed to the same extent.
In general, the specific injunctions are preferred due to the very nature of the rights
involved. However, not rarely it ends up being unsuccessful, so that the pecuniary
reparation remains.
In these cases, it seems that the system created a safeguard, by predicting that the
amount from convictions in class actions, or the leftover values after individual
executions are filled should be directed to funds that, in turn, ... Show more content

Thus, it is fundamental to analyze how it was developed and the main critics that it
has been suffering.
Next, the Diffuse Rights Defense Fund (FDD), a reference for the analysis for funds
on class actions, is analyzed, since it is has the most resources and its regulation is
the strongest and unified. It is about analyzing its configuration, operation, origin and
application of the amount of money that it is assigned to allocate.
Again, based on the comparative study it is investigated what the doctrine considers
an institute closer to the configuration of the funds in class actions, which is the
CERCLA Superfund, an USA administrative fund, linked to the Environmental

Finally, it is sought to make a comparative balance between the possibilities of the

Often the judge, in solving the litigation, ends up not granting protection to the right,
which means that, even if the author gets a favorable sentence, not necessarily it will
have its protection, being necessary also the executive provision. If, on one hand,
enforcement is perceived as the moment in which judicial decision is materialized, on
the other hand, it is essential to give the necessary attention and recover the
complexity execution as a fundamental point in the judicial protection of rights.

The fact that there are two sides or viewpoints to every feud, also means that one
side influences the other. This one illustrates how blindsided humans have become

Chateau De Fontainebleau A True Residence Of The French Sovereigns
LEAD PARAGRAPH
The Chateau de Fontainebleau, originated in 1137, might have been a temporary, but
it is also the only one residence that was favourite to all French kings and emperors
until the end of the Second Empire, in 1870. It certainly isn t opulent as Versailles,
nor magical as Vaux le Vicomte, but its centuries old architecture, furniture of the
Imperial era and a couple of different style gardens are something truly worth seeing.
Besides, the Fontainebleau is closely related to two distinctive art institutions of
different periods, known as the First School of Fontainebleau and Barbizon School.

act by Anjelah Johnson she joked about how she doesn t speak spanish and imitates

humor in her act to make the audience laugh for example when she was put with the
latino cast for the interviews she said might as well put me in the black interview
because she doesn t speak spanish and also because her last name is Johnson.
First Anjelah jokes about small things like one of the actors that was going be in the

the end of the act kinda like a bit after the middle she uses word choice by saying
Ay yiyi when she finds out she s going to be working with America Ferrera and that
it s not a joke. This is an example of word choice because when she says Ay yiyi at
the same time she was speaking in a broken english voice because she was
reenacting her reaction when she found out she was going to work with America
Ferrera.

`` Fun Home, By Alison Bechdel
Part graphic memoir and part psychoanalytical study, Alison Bechdel s, Fun Home, is
a charming story about a girl s search for identity within an unconventional family.
The novel style autobiography frames Alison s childhood and adolescence as she
struggles with themes of sexual confusion, gender identity, and convoluted family
dynamics. These ideas are explored through the examination of Alison s relationship
with her father, and their shared passion for literature.
Early on in her childhood, Alison came to the realization that her family was
different. As individuals, and as a unit, they were just plain weird. Unlike most young
girls, Alison lacked a strong bond with her parents, most notably her father, Bruce.
Because they both display introverted personalities and had divergent gender
identities, Alison and her father never devised a solid relationship. Bruce is
described as possessing generally feminine qualities having passion for fine art and
sophisticated interior design; whereas Alison claims to have become a connoisseur
of masculinity at a young age (95). Neither of them fit their stereotypical role
within the family; Bruce didn t act like a macho man dad, and Alison wasn t playing
dress up with all the other little girls. Though their personas seem compatible, the
stark difference in their gender affiliations was a source of great tension between
Alison and her father. Not only does Alison approach herself and her father as
inversions of each other, but she
Project Management Plan For A Project Manager
Introduction
In order for projects to be completed efficiently, an organisation needs to provide clear
guidance on the project objectives, performance and quality, budget, time to
completion and their relative importance. Project managers must also be given the
correct level of authority to allow them to ensure a project is guided effectively and
efficiently through to completion.
Project managers function as bandleaders who pull together their players each a
specialist with individual score and internal rhythm. Under the leader s direction, they
all respond to the same beat.
At the request of the vice president, the interview transcripts with individual project
managers have been reviewed revealing that Australia Communications, ... Show

Historically ACI was a functional hierarchical company where staff members
completed tasks within their work unit and reported directly to one manager. It would
appear, although an attempt has been made to alter this arrangement resistance from
the line managers has resulted in little change.
Organisational Culture
It would seem that there are a few facets of ACIs culture that may be affecting the
companies ability to create an organisational structure that is conducive to effective
project management. The first issue is that the engineers hold all major positions
within the company. Although not necessarily surprising in a firm dominated by
engineers, there have been many studies into the effectiveness of engineers as
managers and their often difficult transition from a technical role to a pure
management position. Furthermore, this lack of diversity in the management team
may also stifle ACIs ability to recognise the need for change and effectively progress
from its traditional approach to workflows.
ACI has also fostered a divisive culture; due to the management team being solely
selected from the engineering department, there is little hope for others to progress.
This division was highlighted in the interview transcripts with the large customer
project manager, who stated that both marketing and the engineering group perceive
the project team to be of lesser importance within the company. The lack of

Holden s date with Sally Hayes exhibited his difficulty at cooperating with others.
At first he gives us a dire impression of Sally, I wasn t too crazy about her, but I d
known her for years. (p. 105) Later, he wants to marry Sally and says he is in love
with her. The biggest mystery of all when it comes to women is with Jane
Gallagher. Constantly mentioning Jane, Holden recalls playing checkers with her
before he got sent to boarding school. When his roommate, Stradlater, has a date
with Jane, Holden asks him a peculiar question, Did you ask her if she still keeps
all her kings in the back row? (p. 42) Holden, jealous of Stradlater s date with Jane,
longs to see Jane but never has the courage to call her. Interactions with other
people especially women perplex and overwhelm Holden. He therefore resorts to
isolation, illustrating a characteristic of his mental state. In the course of the story,
Holden is suspended between adulthood and childhood. Several of his actions and
words show evidence of his confusion between adults and children. Admitting to his
immaturity, Holden says, I was sixteen then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes
I act like I m about thirteen. (p. 9) Sunny, the prostitute is an example of Holden s
attempt to be an adult, but realizing he is stuck in childhood. Another example is

The Walls Of One Of His Last Achievements Lies Robert E.
Lee
Lee Chapel
Between the walls of one of his last achievements lies Robert E. Lee. This final
achievement would leave lasting impressions on all those who stepped near the
narrow brick building covered in ivy mirroring the campus of Washington and Lee
University. Robert E. Lee was a confederate civil war veteran, who went on to make
lasting changes to Washington and Lee University leaving a legacy in a chapel that
would later be named after him. The chapel survived not only through the history
occurring around it, but would also find itself tied to a growing southern community
and into controversies over civil rights.
Sixty years before the dedication of Lee Chapel, on January 19th, 1807 a boy named
Robert E. Lee was born into a wealthy Virginia family. Although his family did not
stay wealthy most of his childhood, it did not stop him in being successful. Robert E.
Lee went on to attend WestPoint, graduating second in his class, and fight in the
Mexican War. After spending several years after the Mexican War as the
superintendent at WestPoint, he transitioned back into the military. Within months of
the breakout of the American Civil Warin 1861, Robert E. Lee found himself
promoted to full general in the war (Staff). Robert E. Lee did not fully desire to
fight for the confederate side as he was not entirely committed to the Confederacy s
pressing values (Lewis). However, he lead his side leaving valiantly, becoming a hero

Andre Dubus Argument

The stereotypical man does not qualm at the thought of killing, nor does he hesitate
when pulling the trigger. Neither does Kenneth when he imagines the tin can being a
Nazi Soldier, he immediately fires his gun to kill the soldier, with typical masculine
callousness. This leads into the last of Dubus s allusions in this small section, is his
soldiers calling him captain. This again stems to Kenneth s urge to be the man or
leader of the house, and he is right now the leader of his team; they are his soldiers,
his men, he is their captain. However, while outside the house Kenneth is manly and
strong, inside he displays more feminist traits, Connie kissed them, then he did. His
mother and father looked happy and he felt good about that... Hold down the fort, Son
his father said. I will .Then they were gone, the screen door slamming behind them,
and Connie left the sunporch, but he stood at the door, listening to the car starting
and watching its headlights as it...drove away. Still, he did not move (Dubus, 271)
Contrasting with earlier, Dubus now attempts to portray Kenneth with feminine traits
such as empathy, affection, and tenderness, additionally he tries to imply that these
are Kenneth s true feelings. The primary example of this is the short converse
between Kenneth and his father. When his father tells Kenneth, to hold down the fort
or exactly what Kenneth has been imagining outside the house. But, when offered

My View Of Success And The American Dream
America is truly the land of opportunity. My maternal grandfather was a first
generation immigrant from the Philippines. He came to this country with nothing,
but a dream to succeed. He saw the only way to succeed was through a solid
education. His view of success was to get a good paying job. In a similar manner
my paternal grandfather was essentially orphaned when he was six years old. The
only hope he saw to escape his microcosm was through an education. He gained his
success through the American Dream. In total, both of my grandfathers achieved
the american dream, even though they had a differing view of success they both
acknowledged the necessary means to transition from failure to success, and this
was an education. I have been influenced greatly by my two grandfathers. My view

The Misuse Of Drugs Act
Laws are created by parliament which is made up by the MP S society votes for
during the election process. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was introduced to
prevent the misuse of controlled drugs such as cannabis, amphetamine and other
drugs stated in the Act. The Act attempts to prevent the misuse of drugs by making
it a criminal offence to be in possession or supply, manufacture, import and export
drugs (Drugscope, 2015). The Act also gives the Home secretary authority to ban
new drugs and increase the penalties associated with them. Sometimes the
government will set out a proposal for a new law in a document known as a green
paper which then faces scrutiny and discussion this could be by experts in the area
that the proposed Law intends to change/ affect or a select committee within
parliament. The proposal can then be changed and made into a white paper. This
then forms the Bill which gets introduced into Parliament (Making laws: How a
law is made part 2 of 2, 2009). There are 2 different types of Bills a private and a
public Bill. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was a public Bill as it affects the
public. These also have 2 categories, government Bills and Private member bills.
The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was a government Bill. A bill goes through a
consultation stage where the opinion of others is noted on what the proposed Law
should say. This usually takes place before the Bill is introduced to Parliament. A

The Temple Of Hatshepsut At Deir El Bahri
Ceremonies and rituals are integral parts of any civilization, both current and ancient;
among the ancient civilizations, Egypt is renowned for its religious societal rituals
and afterlife beliefs. From pharaohs and luxurious burials, to lavish processions;
ancient Egypt is among the most fascinating and curious cultures. Egyptian
architecture is also extremely interesting in terms of location, scale, purpose, and
potentially most important how Egyptian architecture can dictate movement through
the space.
The majority of ancient Egyptian structures studied by architectural historians and
planners alike, were erected to honor a pharaoh or as a grand tomb for their journey
through to the afterlife. Whether the structure was in the form of a temple, tomb or
statue, the ritual and spiritual influence is unquestionable. The location, scale, and
materials used to construct these monuments are all defining factors of how the space
is used and functions.
While there are several notable Egyptian temples, monuments, and tombs; this paper
will focus on the analysis and evaluation of the Mortuary Temple of Queen
Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahri, C. 1458 BC. First and foremost, it is important to
identify the historical figure who influenced this construction of this temple. Queen
Hatshepsut ascended to the throne of Egypt after her son s passing and was the first
and only female pharaoh in about 1473 BC; nearly a thousand years after the
construction of the Pyramids at Giza. The

He was born in the town of Rochen, near Leipzig on October 15, 1844. He was the
son and grandson of a minister. When he was four years old his father passed away
and after six months later, his younger brother suddenly passed away. After that
incident Nietzsche, his sister and mother moved to the place where his two aunts
were living. He was an intelligent student and his teachers were inspired by his
work at school. In fact, his teacher Friedrich Wilhelm Ritschl wrote a letter in his
reference the Nietzsche was so promising that He will simply be able to do
anything he wants to do . (R.Lanier Anderson, Nietzsche s Life and works). In
1970, he volunteered as a nurse s assistant (Nietzsche vii). He was a philosopher,
poet psychologist. However, he did not develop a theory of history (Carl E.
Pletsch). Pletsch also said in his article, he was one of the most complex thinkers.
He had given his effort in philosophy lecture, in psychology and in his education,
such as history. He was one of the most powerful thinkers in the world. He started
illness from his early period of time. He was enthusiastic on his health problems since
his childhood. He tried to find explanations for those health problems and described
them exhaustively. Nietzsche His poor
Case Example Of Due Process Clause
The Due Process Clause is a person right to fair government procedures/trail. A
person can not be sentenced to jail because they are suspected of a crime. A right
to fair trial in front of a juror is one of the individual rights to a Due process of law.
The States law cannot deprive a person of their rights to life, liberty, or property
without obtaining consent to do so from a legislative authority. Case Example: Roe v

the statute was an unconstitutional constraint on her right to obtain
Essay about The New Trade Theory
New Trade Theory
The new trade theory began to emerge in the 1970s when a number of economists
pointed out that the ability of firms to attain economies of scale might have
important implications for international trade (Wickramasekera, Cronk Hill 2013).
This theory is based on two major concepts that are economies of scale and first
mover advantage. To elaborate: Economies of scale are unit cost reductions
associated with a large scale of output as it is able to spread over the fixed costs
over a large volume of quantity (Wickramasekera, Cronk Hill 2013 p90). First mover
advantages are the economic and strategic advantages that accrue to early entrants
into an industry and the ability to capture scale economies ahead of later ... Show

Further more, with other benefits such as low costs in research and development,
strong clinical research capabilities, and low sovereign risk, Australia is advancing as
one of the most prominent players in the pharmaceutical industry (Productivity
Commission 2003). Australia s population represents 0.3% of the world s population
and consumes around 1% of the total global pharmaceutical sales. The industry
generated a total revenue of $6.1 billion in the year 2002 (ALRC 2014).
The research and development of the pharmaceutical industry is very important as the
industry relies on it to develop new products to maintain and sustain the growth of the
industry (ALRC 2014). According to the Australian Government Law Reform
Commission, every year, the total spending in research and development in
pharmaceutical industry, which includes drug discovery, pre clinical testing and
clinical trials on drugs is around $300 million (ALRC 2014). Mergers and
acquisitions are intensifying in the global pharmaceutical industry, especially over
the last 10 years. With factors like exorbitant research and development costs, the
relatively shorter product life cycles, and the rarity of discovering a new life
changing drug acting as catalysts, leading pharmaceutical companies now have more
cause to step out and look for external collaboration. This results in an increasing
number of smaller biotechnology companies merging with bigger pharmaceutical
companies (The
The HVP Vaccine Controversy Essay
HPV Vaccine is it helping young girls or making thing worse for them, everyone
has their own believes if it will make a differences for young girls and their future.

of the HPV vaccines. Adams and Allen discuss the cost of the vaccine, public health
issue, and the risk young girls having by getting the vaccine or not getting the

What if a young girl cannot afford or choice not to get the vaccine what is the
outcome for them, and then if girls get the vaccine can it really stop young girls from
getting Cervical cancer. Adams discuss that Cervical Cancer is prevented in a
hundred other ways, including adequate sunlight exposure and vitamin D
consumption, supplementation with probiotics, adequate intake of selenium and
zinc, increased consumption of trace minerals and iodine, regular physical
exercise and many other safe, natural, non patented strategies (447). Does anyone
know really if the HPV vaccine will really stop the profit of cervical cancer? The
Center of Disease control and Prevention: reported that the number of new cases
has fallen to about 50,000 in 2005 according to Morbidity and Mortality Weekly
report of March 16 (449). Allen points out that the women who did receive the
vaccine had no major side effects. In other case Cervical Cancer strikes 14,000
American women each year killing one fourth of them (449). If a young girl, a
parent doesn t want their daughter to get the vaccine or even has second thought
about it, they should make a doctor appointment yearly to check for Cervical cancer.
Then the next thing to do if the young lady does need the HPV vaccine is learn more
about the vaccine and decided if they want to go in that direction for their daughter.
Adams and Allen wrote their own articles about what they think about the HPV
vaccine, but in the end

I initially thought that the only ancient cultures in North America were the Native
Americans in the Mesa Verde area, or the Aztecs and Mayans in Mexico. I was
completely unaware of the thought of Canada having ancient cultures. I don t know
why, I just haven t thought about. So, once I was searching the Internet for an
artifact, when I found this one from Canada, I knew it was the one I wanted to
research. I didn t realize that the Norse were the first Europeans to actually set up a
settlement on the North American continent. I always thought it was Columbus, but
according to Vinland Archaeology, the Norse came over from Greenland and Iceland

John D Rockefeller Struggles
Jonmarc Rasberry Dr. Rodriguez First Year Seminar 11 16 15 The road to success
is never an easy path to take. However, adventuring down that road makes the
journey worth all the obstacles that come your way. Everyone has had obstacles
come their way and each individual s mentality is how they will react to certain
situations. Some individuals choose to fight and work hard for a better outcome
of their life. However, others let life overwhelm them and let life get the best of
them. Most individuals choose to flee when times and events becoming
challenging. John D Rockefeller could have been overwhelmed and discouraged
by some the events in his life. In spite of that, he used the negativity and challenges
in his life to become one of the richest people in history, one of the richest men in
his time era, and a man with a great vision for his business and himself. Before
approaching all of Rockefeller s internal and external struggles/obstacles, let s talk
about his background and the basic overview of where Rockefeller came from. He
was born in a town named Richford. This small town was located in New York, more
specifically, it was more around the lower middle portion of New York. He was the
son of William Avery and Eliza Davison Rockefeller. He was also a brother to
William Rockefeller, his brother, and Lucy Rockefeller, his sister. His family moved

Donald E. Blake s Electoral Democracy In The Provinces

1. Introduction This critical analysis will examine Donald E. Blake s chapter,
Electoral Democracy in the Provinces and Territories, in Christopher Dunn s book,
Provinces. This chapter discusses the electoral procedures and outcomes in the
provinces and territories as an indicator of the quality of democracy (Blake 115) that
Canadian provinces and territories demonstrate. Blake introduces this topic in the
fourth paragraph of the introduction. It is a clear thesis statement of the focus and
purpose of this chapter. The introduction of the chapter aims to establish a
preliminary guide about the various electoral procedures from different provinces and
territories. With a few examples, such as Quebec and Ontario s government, and the

He begins this subsection with quoting section 3 and section 1 of the Canadian
Charter of Rights and Freedoms, both of which are concerned with the democratic
right to vote, as well as the reasonable limits that the law can impose. He relies upon
Richard Katz analysis of three categories of qualifications for voting: community
membership, competence and autonomy in order to analyze provincial and federal
democratic fairness distributions pertaining to voting rights. Table 4.4 summarizes
the other provincial and national voting qualifications and disqualifications. Prior to
examining this table, Blake highlights a few key qualifications that the reader
knowns, such as to say that all jurisdictions have established 18 as the minimum age
for voting (Blake 126). This aids the reader to understand the table before the author
does a full analysis of what the data means contextually. The manner in which this
table is organized, by provinces, allows for Blake to clearly demonstrate democratic
fairness. Blake summarizes this subsection by categorizing the provinces and
territories into three groups, in terms of restrictions and exclusions on candidacy. The
least restrictive provinces on the right to vote are Alberta, BC, PEI, Quebec and
Saskatchewan. The most restrictive provinces are Nova Scotia, Ontario, and the
territories, where a leave of absence must be requested prior to nomination. Manitoba,
New Brunswick, and Newfoundland

parades, street fairs, and would go to shows to aid the diversity in my experience. To
gain experience in Pennsylvania I would visit the historical sites, visit its Museums,
sport games, dance shows, and national events. Being more open to the community, is
what allows the indoctrination on foreign students.

Imagery In In Cold Blood
Imagery in In Cold Blood describes a deeper meaning from Perry Smith to Nancy s
diary, there are different types of imagery to convey different messages. From
auditory imagery to Visual imagery, even though there are different types of
imagery, the one that is the most present in the book would have to be visual
imagery. Imagery is the use of words that can effectively convey an image using
different senses to convey the same or different ideas. I think Capote wrote this
novel to give some insight on the criminal mind. In the book cold blood Capote
shows Dick as an cold but calculated murder with a good motive but Perry Smith is
a different case. Capote is more sympathetic toward Perry Smith than Dick, we know
this because he describes
Whole Cell Protein Lab Report
Molecules found in nature (termed natural products ) are a rich source of
compounds with biological activities that are useful as drugs. Marine organisms are
a particularly good source of natural products. Imagine that you are a marine
biologist searching for new natural products for use as anticancer drugs. While
diving at a coral reef near Tahiti, you notice an unusual sponge that you have never
seen before. You collect a sample, return to your lab and make a whole cellprotein
extract.
1. Come up with an experimental design to see if this sponge has anticancer
properties.
Making a whole cell protein extract:
Living cells should be cultured on petri dishes and then incubated with a tracer in
order for downstream flux analysis. Once the metabolic processes have been
quenched, the next step is to lyse the cells, separating both the polar and non polar
metabolites from the other cellular substances at the same time. After these steps, the
cells are shaken to completely lyse the membranes allowing for a more efficient
extraction of all possible biomolecules. After shaking, there should be a clear
separation between the polar and non polar phase for the metabolites, with a well
defined interphase containing proteins and nucleic acids. After centrifugation, the
different phases are now separated, and each one can be sampled for further analysis

During the process of RNA interface long double stranded RNA is cut into small
pieces by an enzyme known as Dicer . Those small pieces bind with proteins known
as the Argonaute proteins. After this binding takes place one of the double stranded
RNA becomes removed which leaves the remaining strand to bind to messenger RNA
target sequences. Once they are bound, the protein can either recruit certain factors to
help regulate it, destroy it, or cleave the messenger

  • 2. Ecological Problems Facing United States Today There are many ecological problems facing us in the United States today. Among those issues includes global warming, our dependence on fossil fuel, saving our endangered wildlife, and ensuring that we have safe and sufficient water. There is one environmental issue, however, that streams across all these areas, and threatens the safety of our country, and of many bodies of water all over the world, and that is the issue of Oil Spills. An oil spillcan be defined as, an unintentional release of crude oil or refined oil products into the environment. Oil spills are considered to be a major source of chemical pollution. Most of these spills occur through human error, however, there are cases where oil seeps through deposits under the ocean floor. These spills can occur on land, in the ocean, and even when oil is spilled down storm drains that lead directly into lakes and rivers. Not only do oil spills threaten to destroy our ecosystem and endanger our wildlife, oil spills can be harmful to human beings as well. The reason that this is so stems from the fact that oil itself is considered to be semi volatile. This means that it can evaporate into the air and create a heavy vapor which lingers and can be breathed in by humans, and can travel deeply into people s lungs. This can in turn cause many health issues such as nausea, vomiting, headaches, and even difficulty breathing. Over an even longer period of time, the chemicals that are found in oil, and that are evaporated into
  • 3. Catcher In The Rye Literary Analysis The Catcher in the Rye is a coming of age novel by J.D. Salinger published in 1945. The novel shows this by the use of teen culture which started at approximately that time. The purpose of this novel is to entertain and inform the intended audience of teenagers. This is achieved through the use of irony, motifs, metaphors, and symbolism. This results in a relatable theme of protection of innocence, a realistic protagonist and messages that are beneficial for the audience. The Catcher in the Rye s main theme is the protection of innocence this theme develops characters and makes the text relevant to the intended audience. Holden wishes to protect children from losing their innocence, preventing them from entering a world of phoney adults.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To convey the moral messages Salinger uses symbolism. Holden s diary starts after he is expelled from Pency Prep and decides to run away to New York. On his trip he spends most of his time trying to seduce girls, for Holden this act symbolises adulthood. Holden tries many times, although when the opportunity presents itself with a prostitute he declines (Pp. 105 110). This shows Holden s inner conflict between childhood and adulthood and his predisposition towards childhood. Giving the reader the moral message that it is ok to not grow up right away contributing to the main issue of Holden s choice between losing and protecting innocence. This issue is resolved when Holden watches Phoebe ride a carousel. On the carousel there is a gold ring that children are meant to collect that symbolises adulthood. Holden realises that although there is risk to the children grabbing the gold ring they need to be allowed to do it, All the kids kept trying to grab for the gold ring, and so was old Phoebe, and I was sort of afraid she d fall off [...], but I didn t say anything or do anything. The thing with kids is, if they want to grab for the gold ring, you have to let them do it, and not say anything. (Pg. 232). This symbolises that children need to be allowed to explore their lives, even if it means their innocence may one day be lost. This communicates the moral message that it is ok to let others and themselves grow up, despite the risks. Holden realises that people need to be allowed to explore the world on their own despite the risk. The book is successful in informing the audience through the use of moral messages as they are messages that would be helpful for the teenage audience. The plot helps to successfully show through symbolism Holden s inner conflict between adulthood and childhood, and, losing and protecting
  • 4. Jamaica Kincaid s Girl In the essay Girl by Jamaica Kincaid there are references to many social problems that were prevalent earlier in society that still apply to today s society. In this essay the author is giving advice to her teenage daughter where she teachers her the proper etiquette and what was expected of a woman in her view. In this story the author Kincaid seems to be the motherand the teenage daughter is probably her daughter, in a different way of viewing she may be the daughter herself reflecting on the past, but it s not very relevant to the meaning of the literature. In this essay I will explain how the way women are viewed in today s society have changed, as well as what remains of the past that has yet to be overcome. I will also try and analyze and give my theory as to why Kincaid decided to write her story the way she did. The main cultural issue this story focuses on is women s right and how they re viewed in society. Earlier in society as well as in third world countries women play a more home wife lifestyle which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s just one task after the other, again and again with a lot of repetition. Wash the white clothes on Monday and put them on the stone heap; wash the color clothes on Tuesday and put them on the clothesline to dry; don t walk bare head in the hot sun; (line 1) this way of writing is very demanding, and feels like you have no freedom at all. With this style the author is trying to put you in the daughter s shoes, to make you feel like you re being lectured and that you have no freedom and can only do what she says. She also uses the word slut frequently, which I m no so sure how I feel about. Again it feels when she uses the word out of the blue that you re just being lectured, and that even though you haven t done anything wrong you ve already been labeled a slut. By wording it the way she did it may persuade the reader to realize that this way of life for the teenager has no
  • 5. Analysis Of David Ogilvy s The Consumer Isn t A Moron Professional Advertiser David Ogilvy The consumer isn t a moron. She is your wife. A strongly worded quote from David Ogilvy highlights the importance of the relationship and connection necessary between and advertiser and his or her consumer. Ogilvy, like many others, started from the bottom and worked tirelessly to the top. Born in Oxford, England on June 23, 1911, David would live the next twenty seven years in and around his hometown. David studied at two different colleges and ended up graduating from neither Fettes College nor Christ Church. Going nowhere fast, David began a career working in a kitchen. Not long into his career there did he realize the job description did not match his big ideas for what his life was supposed to be like. David spoke the following words about his kitchen work: If I stayed at the Majestic I would have faced years of slave wages, fiendish pressure, and perpetual exhaustion. Quitting this career opened the door for his big change in the advertising world. ( David Ogilvy Biography | Ogilvy Mather ) Ogilvy began selling stoves to everyone. Nothing out of the ordinary or overpriced expensive appliances, but a simple generic cooking stove became David s first encounter with consumers face to face. David took this door to door work very seriously and became one with his clientele. He never limited himself when the sale came down to a consumer. Whether the consumer was a religious service member or a single mother, David spread his

  • 7. Ficer Corps And The Noncommissioned Officer Abstract The officer corps and the noncommissioned officer corps in the Army go all the back to before the founding fathers formed the country. Both of these corps have adapted and changed according to wars and conflicts the nation has participated. The success of the Army is dependent on the ability of officers and noncommissioned officers to work together. Training, education and mentorship lead to officers and noncommissioned officerserving as the cornerstone of the Army. Establishing roles and responsibilities It is important to understand the roles that officers and non commissioned officers hold in the Army. Without this understanding, officers and non commissioned officers become stranded and confused. The Army has continuously updated regulations, field manuals, and other doctrine to keep up with the ever changing operational environment the Army operates in. Army Doctrine Publication (ADP) 6 22 and Army Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 6 22 clearly establish the roles of the officer and the non commissioned officer. Additional Army doctrine provides for other miscellaneous tasks or responsibilities that officers and non commissioned officers either share or work together to accomplish. A simple example is Training Circular (TC) 3 21, Drill and Ceremony. The non commissioned officer has the bulk of the responsibility to conduct but the officer does have a role as the commander of troops. Although Drill and Ceremony not does specifically address a

The site is updated continuously throughout the day. I also want to work for CNN because they are a company that knows how to experiment and try other things to help the company grow to become better. CNN has launched two specialty news channels for the American market which would later close amid competitive pressure: the sports news channel CNNSI shut down in 2002, while business news channel CNNfn shut down after nine years on the air in December 2004. CNN also once had a partnership with Sports Illustrated through the sports website CNNSI.com, but sold the domain name in May 2015. CNNfn s former website now redirects to money.cnn.com, a product of CNN s strategic partnership with Money magazine. Money and Sports Illustrated were both Time Warner properties until 2014, when the company s magazine division was spun off into the separate Time Inc. Also back in 2012 , CNN launched CNN Films which is a motion picture division of CNN. CNN films mainly produced original feature length documentaries that will examine an array of political, social, and economic subject matters. And my final reason of why I want to work at cnn is biggest and arguably the most most popular news network ever. According to adweekly, driven by live coverage of the year s US presidential election, 2016 was CNN s most watched year in its history.

Examples Of James Pursuit For Absolute Power Gadi Vogel Pd 9 Absolutist Essay Thesis: James pursuit for absolute power gave him his success in Scotland but when he arrived in England he failed in his fight against the parliament since they weren t used to this type of governing. James became King of Scotland in 1567. During his 25 years as King he was fairly successful. He could peacefully enjoy absolute power under his reign in Scotland. In 1610 when Robert Cecil, Earl of Salisbury proposed this Great Contract where James would give feudal revenue to the parliament in exchange for a fixed sum. This resulted in nothing but the parliament being dissolved. in 1612, Robert Cecil died marking turning point in James reign because he would never have a chief minister so powerful and experienced. In James Writing of The True Law of Free Monarchies; or, The Reciprocal and Mutual Duty Betwixt a Free King and His Natural Subjects he talks about his position and the respect people should have for him and how he wants to lead his during his reign. James says how the Parliament (which is nothing else but the head court of the king and his vassals) the laws are but craved by his subjects and only made by him at their rogation [act of submitting a law for the king s acceptance.] by this he means that parliament do have a certain amount of power but everything that they do is monitored by James. • 10. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Abigail Adams Letter To John... Abigail Adams writes to her son, John Quincy Adams, to give him advice during his trip with his father. In her letter, Adams uses variations of tone, ethos, and allusion to appeal to her son. From the very beginning, Adams tone expresses her desire for her son to listen to her. The apologetic note that she opens with appears to hope that any anger or bitterness towards her from her son would be squashed so that he could see that she only had his best interests at her by making go on the journey. The concerned tone she uses displays her hope that he take the advice she is granting him and use it towards his advantage. She depicts her optimism when she explains that the voyage would be beneficial to him hoping he would understand that as his mother, she only wants is best for him. She goes on to explain the world in lines 21 24, as a place that needed guidance that could be provided by one like her son if he would only take on the responsibility of it. She is appealing to his morality by stating that he has advantages others do not and he needs to do something with them. She then goes on to appeal to his righteousness by saying how War, Tyranny and Desolation are the scourges of the Almighty . She is indirectly stating that the surrounding chaos is God s way of punishing man and that they need someone to lead them from
  • 11. Time Warner and AOL Merger Essay Time Warner and AOL Merger Time Warner Corporation has numerous subsidiaries which are moving media materials across media boundaries. They are doing this in numerous ways, based on synergies and joint ventures. For example some of these include gaining more access to cable lines by a joint venture with US West, and merging with AOL. They are also using a tactic called co development as properties are knitted together by sister companies both interested in profiting off of them. This is a type of synergy because it occurs within one media conglomerate itself, and it encourages cross media activity between the two sister companies. Time Warner is also taking part in joint ventures which bring it more opportunities to advertise and sell its products. For example, in 1993 Time Warner and US West worked together to improve U.S. cable systems to an interactive fiber optic data highway that could lead to such direct services to the home as music on demand and video on demand. This deal was based on U.S. West investing $2.5 billion in Time Warner Inc. which gave them a big stake (25.5%)in

I have been accepted to the best private middle school in Chicago with a full ride. All four years for free. I couldn t believe what just happened to me. This was the highest achievement that I have ever gotten. It seems a little to good to be true. I could see my mother with a pitty smile on her face and kind of scared. • 14. Identity And Identity The questions have been asked throughout the decades, what is identity and what is religion. There is no surprise there is still no exact answerers for them both. The idea of identity started in the 1930 by George Herbert Mead. His view about identity is that society and self shapes social behavior. From George s theory it has grown a substantial amount. Now if you were to Google what is identity thousands of definitions and articles will come up. From our lecture, the Oxford dictionary states identity is a set of characteristic or a description that distinguishes a person or thing from others. I believe my own morals, ethics, and personal identities are unique compared to the surrounding world. In today s world religionis a complicated and sensitive subject. There are many kinds of religion; the huge ones are Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. These religions are easy to recognize around the world because they have a symbol connected to it; Christianity has the cross, Judaism has the Star of David and Islam has the moon and star. There are also other religions out there that people do not know about. One example is the religions of the giant flying spaghetti monster. A great aspect about religion is that there are no set guidelines to what is and what is not religion. I believe a religion must have three things before becoming an official religion; first there needs to be a body of people who share the same ideals, second they must have faith and
  • 15. The Competence Of A Patient When a patient is autonomous an individual has the right to make decisions on his own without the consent of outsiders such as nurses, doctors, or other caregivers. Outsiders may attempt to influence the decisions of an autonomous person; it is essential that patients are allowed to make well informed decisions without approval from others. Although autonomymeans having freedom of choice, there are limits to those choices. For example, if a patient is requesting anything illegal or unsafe, caregivers do not have to honor his request. Decisions relating to a patient should not be made without the patient s consent and interests in mind. The only way that a caregiver may deviate from this requirement is if the patient is deemed as incompetent or if there is an emergency situation. However, even if a patient is incompetent this does not mean he is incompetent entirely. Just because a patient is incompetent in one area of decision making, this is not necessarily true for all areas. The competence of a patient may be assessed in terms of high and low risks. When a patient is autonomous and competent his informed consent is required. The patient is allowed to have a choice of healthcare providers and the treatments or procedures that will be administered to him. In fact, a patient may make decisions for the future such as creating a living will. Institutions must disclose all information regarding treatments and procedures so that the patient will not be consenting to anything

Woolf takes the reader on a psychological roller coaster with flashbacks to Mrs. Dalloway s life, specifically her teen age to college years. She shows us all of the decisions Dalloway had to make and how those decisions had shaped her life. Clarissa Dalloway had chosen a life that would be safe for her, by marrying well and having a child, by living the proper political life. Throughout the novel, Clarissa thinks back onto how she could have had a life of sexual freedom and excitement with Richard, her ex lover from her college years. Of course this is all put into play by the arrival of him from India, because she hadn t seen him in a very long time. All of these occurrences and flashbacks just add to Clarissa s growing depression that she barely is able to hold onto in the story. The most interesting and most significant aspect of Mrs. Dalloway is that it takes place in one day, which is what Cunningham and Daldry built their book and movie off of. The idea of telling a story of a woman s thoughts in one day is an amazing one because it is so intrinsic and specific that going past one day would take forever to divulge and digest. One of the most important parts of Mrs. Dalloway is the relationship between Septimus and Clarissa. Woolf uses Septimus, a war veteran who s got shell shock, as the alternate persona to Clarissa. I like to think that Septimus was the brain and

For Utica, solar energy potential was very low, while the potential for Hydro power is high and most likely that best option. Oftentimes, potential employees are more interested in the benefits a company provides than in the salary or compensation they will be receiving. Potential employees oftentimes desire healthcare or insurance plans and pension plans that will take care of them for the long term, not a short term benefit plan. In the past, employers often took a cookie cutter approach, offering the exact same benefits as every other company offered. Such an approach is no longer the norm, instead many companies now work hand in hand with their employees to design benefit plans that fit the employee s needs rather than the cheapest or most convenient benefit plan available. As one recent report espoused a good example is the shift from defined benefit pension plans for which employers bear the funding burden to defined contribution plans, which are generally funded by employers and employees together (Vandermillen, 2012, p. 19). The primary example of this is the short converse between Kenneth and his father. When his father tells Kenneth, to hold down the fort or exactly what Kenneth has been imagining outside the house. He came to this country with nothing, but a dream to succeed. He saw the only way to succeed was through a solid education. His view of success was to get a good paying job. In a similar manner my paternal grandfather was essentially orphaned when he was six years old. The only hope he saw to escape his microcosm was through an education. He gained his success through the American Dream. In total, both of my grandfathers achieved the american dream, even though they had a differing view of success they both acknowledged the necessary means to transition from failure to success, and this was an education. I have been influenced greatly by my two grandfathers. My view of success and the American Dream is a certain Melting Pot of my two grandfathers. I view success as the combination of a good career as well as a great family. I see the transition from childhood to adulthood as the point where one is able to effectively take charge of their future and their own success in an effective way with the approval of others to change the course of their life. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was introduced to prevent the misuse of controlled drugs such as cannabis, amphetamine and other drugs stated in the Act. The Act attempts to prevent the misuse of drugs by making it a criminal offence to be in possession or supply, manufacture, import and export drugs (Drugscope, 2015). The Act also gives the Home secretary authority to ban new drugs and increase the penalties associated with them. Sometimes the government will set out a proposal for a new law in a document known as a green paper which then faces scrutiny and discussion this could be by experts in the area that the proposed Law intends to change/ affect or a select committee within parliament. The proposal can then be changed and made into a white paper. This then forms the Bill which gets introduced into Parliament (Making laws: How a law is made part 2 of 2, 2009). There are 2 different types of Bills a private and a public Bill. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was a public Bill as it affects the public. These also have 2 categories, government Bills and Private member bills. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was a government Bill. A bill goes through a consultation stage where the opinion of others is noted on what the proposed Law should say. This usually takes place before the Bill is introduced to Parliament. A Bill can either go through the House of Commons or Lords
  • 38. The Temple Of Hatshepsut At Deir El Bahri Ceremonies and rituals are integral parts of any civilization, both current and ancient; among the ancient civilizations, Egypt is renowned for its religious societal rituals and afterlife beliefs. From pharaohs and luxurious burials, to lavish processions; ancient Egypt is among the most fascinating and curious cultures. Egyptian architecture is also extremely interesting in terms of location, scale, purpose, and potentially most important how Egyptian architecture can dictate movement through the space. The majority of ancient Egyptian structures studied by architectural historians and planners alike, were erected to honor a pharaoh or as a grand tomb for their journey through to the afterlife. Whether the structure was in the form of a temple, tomb or statue, the ritual and spiritual influence is unquestionable. The location, scale, and materials used to construct these monuments are all defining factors of how the space is used and functions. While there are several notable Egyptian temples, monuments, and tombs; this paper will focus on the analysis and evaluation of the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahri, C. 1458 BC. First and foremost, it is important to identify the historical figure who influenced this construction of this temple. Queen Hatshepsut ascended to the throne of Egypt after her son s passing and was the first and only female pharaoh in about 1473 BC; nearly a thousand years after the construction of the Pyramids at Giza. Essay about The New Trade Theory New Trade Theory The new trade theory began to emerge in the 1970s when a number of economists pointed out that the ability of firms to attain economies of scale might have important implications for international trade (Wickramasekera, Cronk Hill 2013). This theory is based on two major concepts that are economies of scale and first mover advantage. To elaborate: Economies of scale are unit cost reductions associated with a large scale of output as it is able to spread over the fixed costs over a large volume of quantity (Wickramasekera, Cronk Hill 2013 p90). First mover advantages are the economic and strategic advantages that accrue to early entrants into an industry and the ability to capture scale economies ahead of later ... Further more, with other benefits such as low costs in research and development, strong clinical research capabilities, and low sovereign risk, Australia is advancing as one of the most prominent players in the pharmaceutical industry (Productivity Commission 2003). Australia s population represents 0.3% of the world s population and consumes around 1% of the total global pharmaceutical sales. The industry generated a total revenue of $6.1 billion in the year 2002 (ALRC 2014). According to the Australian Government Law Reform Commission, every year, the total spending in research and development in pharmaceutical industry, which includes drug discovery, pre clinical testing and clinical trials on drugs is around $300 million (ALRC 2014). Mergers and acquisitions are intensifying in the global pharmaceutical industry, especially over the last 10 years. With factors like exorbitant research and development costs, the relatively shorter product life cycles, and the rarity of discovering a new life changing drug acting as catalysts, leading pharmaceutical companies now have more cause to step out and look for external collaboration. This results in an increasing number of smaller biotechnology companies merging with bigger pharmaceutical companies (The

Some individuals choose to fight and work hard for a better outcome of their life. However, others let life overwhelm them and let life get the best of them. Most individuals choose to flee when times and events becoming challenging. John D Rockefeller could have been overwhelmed and discouraged by some the events in his life. Blake s chapter, Electoral Democracy in the Provinces and Territories, in Christopher Dunn s book, Provinces. This chapter discusses the electoral procedures and outcomes in the provinces and territories as an indicator of the quality of democracy (Blake 115) that Canadian provinces and territories demonstrate. Blake introduces this topic in the fourth paragraph of the introduction. It is a clear thesis statement of the focus and purpose of this chapter. The introduction of the chapter aims to establish a preliminary guide about the various electoral procedures from different provinces and territories. He begins this subsection with quoting section 3 and section 1 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, both of which are concerned with the democratic right to vote, as well as the reasonable limits that the law can impose. He relies upon Richard Katz analysis of three categories of qualifications for voting: community membership, competence and autonomy in order to analyze provincial and federal democratic fairness distributions pertaining to voting rights. Table 4.4 summarizes the other provincial and national voting qualifications and disqualifications. Prior to examining this table, Blake highlights a few key qualifications that the reader knowns, such as to say that all jurisdictions have established 18 as the minimum age for voting (Blake 126). This aids the reader to understand the table before the author does a full analysis of what the data means contextually. The manner in which this table is organized, by provinces, allows for Blake to clearly demonstrate democratic fairness. Blake summarizes this subsection by categorizing the provinces and territories into three groups, in terms of restrictions and exclusions on candidacy. The least restrictive provinces on the right to vote are Alberta, BC, PEI, Quebec and Saskatchewan. The most restrictive provinces are Nova Scotia, Ontario, and the territories, where a leave of absence must be requested prior to nomination. Manitoba, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland

Marine organisms are a particularly good source of natural products. Imagine that you are a marine biologist searching for new natural products for use as anticancer drugs. While diving at a coral reef near Tahiti, you notice an unusual sponge that you have never seen before. You collect a sample, return to your lab and make a whole cellprotein extract. 1. Come up with an experimental design to see if this sponge has anticancer properties. Making a whole cell protein extract: Living cells should be cultured on petri dishes and then incubated with a tracer in order for downstream flux analysis. Once the metabolic processes have been quenched, the next step is to lyse the cells, separating both the polar and non polar metabolites from the other cellular substances at the same time. After these steps, the cells are shaken to completely lyse the membranes allowing for a more efficient extraction of all possible biomolecules. After shaking, there should be a clear separation between the polar and non polar phase for the metabolites, with a well defined interphase containing proteins and nucleic acids. After centrifugation, the different phases are now separated, and each one can be sampled for further analysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
