The Benefits of Forests to Societies
INTRODUCTION Forests have diverse ecological roles and provide multiple resources for society in
addition to the mere direct wood products. They act as habitat for animals, play significant role in
water cycling and soil development, provide resins, oils, mushrooms etc, and also used as hunting and
recreation place. Mediterranean forests are characterized by multi functionality and associated
diversity in both wood and non wood forest products (NWFP). The most valuable non wood forest
products from these forests include pine nuts, cork, edible fungi and resins (Bravo et al., 2011). Wilde
edible fungi, which is getting much attention as one of NWFPs due to its potential is the focus of this
study. Boa (2004) stated that wild edible fungi are valuable non wood forest products throughout the
world and have a clear potential for commercial use. Some fungi such as boletes (Boletus edulis) or
saffron milk caps (Lactarius group deliciosus) are specially valued in many countries, and their trade
has become an important complementary economic activity in many regions (Voces et al., 2011; Cai et
al., 2011; Martínez de Aragón et al., 2011). Some studies have also showed that the market demand
for many ectomycorrhizal fungi has increased to the extent that commercial value of forest fungi may
equal or even surpass the value of timber (Alexander et al., 2002; Arnolds et al., 1995; Oria de Rueda
et al., 1991). This has triggered a growing interest from forest owners and managers to

The Influence Of Media And Pop Culture On Young Girls
In today s society media and pop culture are heavy influences on girls of all ages. Everywhere we look
there is something claiming to make us happier, look better, and telling us how we can improve our
lifestyles. Young girls to young adults are drawn to these advertisements. Studies say that girls from
the age of thirteen to nineteen are most vulnerable to the persuasion of the advertisements put out by
companies claiming to help them live a better and more defined life. Magazines such as Seventeen
magazine target young girls using celebrities, visual techniques, and many other techniques to draw
their attention. To be in Style
One technique used by Seventeen is the use of bright colors to drawn in attention. They use bold, busy
colors and fonts contrasted on clean, crisp backgrounds to catch the young eyes of girls who connect
these contrasts with an upbeat style. They use bold, feminine, sophisticated type fonts to grab the eyes
of women. Their headlines stick out, making themselves the center of attention.
Most of these headlines are fashion centered. They use fashion to appeal to girls find the best clothes
makeup and hairstyles. They make it feel personal by claiming to know what will work for you and
your body type, face shape, and skin tone. They sell their secrets on how to look great every day. They
dress they re models in clothes that reflect the theme of the magazine. This appeals to the women s
desire to be in style.
Idolization
Another technique they use and one of the most commonly used by Seventeen is the use of celebrities.
Teens often look at celebrities as superhumans. They find celebrities to look up to. They idolize them,
want to be like them. Magazines use this to their advantage. They plaster the faces of some of the most
influential stars to their front pages claiming to help teens become just like their idol. They make sure
to cover all social platforms from actresses to singer, models, and socialites. Seventeen has used
people such as Sarah Hyland, Maddie Ziegler, Zendaya and Carrie Underwood. They use these people
as marketing tools. These people are seen in the public eye as credible sources especially by the girls
who look up to them. They try to appeal to the fact

Fahrenheit 452
In our 21st century today, it is somewhat precise to how Ray Bradbury portrayed the future in his
novel Fahrenheit 451. Mildred Montag s fate really matches up to the people in our society. Mildred,
like many people today, are constantly on their technology devices and having no interest in the
outside world. If more and more people in our word become like Mrs. Montag, then we will start
losing interest in people and the world outside of technology.
Bradbury reveals to the readers that Mildred Montag has short term memory. Mildred easily forgets
what happened the night before when she overdosed on sleeping pills. Maybe you took two pills and
forgot and took two more, and forgot again and took two more, and were so dopey you kept right ...

The things you re looking for, Montag, are in the world, but the only way the average chap will ever
see ninety nine per cent of them is in a book. Don t ask for guarantees. And don t look to be saved in
any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die
knowing you were headed for shore (Bradbury 86). I believe that in the future, when hard covered or
soft covered books don t exist anymore because books can now be purchased on any type of device or
because people don t really read nowadays, we will for sure miss books one day. Our world today
does not read books as often as in the past because movies are constantly being made from books and
most people don t feel the need to read it, if they are just going to go watch the movie. Reading books
to me is like living in a different world because it makes me see more of the struggles that people in
our society face without me having to actually experience it. I love the feeling of putting myself in the
shoes of the main character and seeing the journeys they go through with heartbreak, solving
mysteries, or living in poverty and finding ways to survive. I am most 100% sure that that is what
Faber was trying to tell Montag and Bradbury was saying to his readers. In Fahrenheit 451, there are
many characters fates that match up to our own fates. Mildred is an obsessed television watcher who
talks to people as if she is

Character Analysis Of Mr. Wills
Will J. The Taste of Melon: Mr. Wills Character Analysis Nov. 17 2017 In The Taste of Melon by
Borden Deal, the character of Mr. Wills is written as a round/complex character. Mr. Wills exhibits
three main traits throughout the story, and those traits do not change. First is his success as a farmer,
second is his emotional personality, and third is his intimidating and frightening demeanor and
reputation. While it may be easy to say that Mr. Wills is a dynamic character, his core traits never
change at any point in the plot. Only the way he is perceived by other characters changes.
The first main character trait of Mr. Wills is his success as a farmer. During the exposition of the plot
as the narrator is introducing all of its characters, he says Mr. Wills was the best farmer in the
community. (Deal, 131) as if it was common knowledge. The narrator s father chimes in when he says
...that he could drive a stick into the ground and grow a tree out of it. (Deal, 131) Mr. Wills appears to
show his technical proficiency in farming best when he is growing watermelons. As the narrator put it;
Other men, like Mr. Wills, can throw some seed on the ground, scuff some dirt over it, walk off and
leave it. And they ll have a crop of the prettiest, biggest melons you ever saw. (Deal, 131) This trait
did not change during the story; never was it revealed that Mr. Wills was putting fake watermelons in
his patch, or that he was importing prize melon seeds. From what is shown in the story Mr. Wills is
just a talented man.
The second main character trait of Mr. Wills are his volatile emotions. Beside the obvious examples of
him simply showing anger, such as When he plowed his fields you could hear him yelling for a mile.
(Deal, Pg. 131) There is also the example of him performing actions out of anger and then regretting
them later. Then I saw it, he was destroying every melon in the patch! (Deal, Pg. 137), and You ruined
the half of it, and I ruined the other. (Deal, Pg. 140) These quotes show that Mr. Wills has a tendency
to act brashly and then regret it. This is a trait that does not change through the story, instead it is fully
revealed near the end during the resolution of the plot

Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens is about a young orphan boy who leaves his orphanage to go to

Personal Computers are better than Macintosh Computers Essay
The conflict between personal computers (PCs; developed by Microsoft) and Macintosh computers
(Macs; developed by Apple) has occurred for many years. The two are constantly competing with each
other to win over the computing market. Macintosh claims that their computers are more efficient
when working with graphic design and media arts, while a PC is known for mathematical superiority
and a stronger variety of hardware and software. Many myths about both systems have been spread
amongst the consumer world. However, proper research can easily clarify these fictions. Someone

Brands such as IBM, Hewlett Packard, Dell, Compaq, and Gateway storm the PC industry. These
names are well known to the majority of people. Having many different companies developing
hardware gives the user a variety to choose from to match not only their needs, but also their
personality. Each brand is unique in design, structure, and function. A mouse designed by IBM may
not have the same shape or functionality of a mouse made by Synaptics. By choosing different brands
for each factor of hardware for a PC, one can make their computer completely unique and customized
(Fans, Harris). Like the PC s hardware, there is also a wide selection of software for the PC. Famous
software includes Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Macromedia Flash, and Mozilla Firefox. Software
for the PC is usually oriented around being customizable. Skins, themes, and presets allow a user to
make their programs match their own needs and wants for their interface (Kaylon). The Windows
interface is usually organized into a desktop, a taskbar, and a start menu. These are all components of
a program known as Windows Explorer. This program allows the user to browse files in their
computer s memory and to see which other programs are running. Each running program is denoted

many of its strengths. A PC is easy to shop for, since most computer retailers rely heavily

A Brief Note On Air Transat Uses Altitude
SUMMARY 7; AIR TRANSAT USES ALTITUDE TO MANAGE ITS AIRCRAFT ROUTING,
CREW PAIRING, AND WORK ASSIGNMENT
Air Transat operates chartered flights for vacationing and flying customers to different spots all over
the world. There was need for the company to expand but due to the manual planning and scheduling
system the company employed, it does not have the capacity for expansion and rapid growth. With the
growth of their customers overwhelming, in 1993 air transit purchased a system for airline operation
management system, know as ALTITUDE, which is a three module optimization package that will
help them in the routing of their aircrafts, pair their crew members and effectively assign their
monthly work assignments.

Like other air transport company, Air Transat employed a four phase planning and scheduling
procedure. The assignment of fleets and flight scheduling dictate the first part of all the fights that will
be flown during a specific period. This is done according to demand, the time given to company at any
airport and competitions from other company. The marketing department conducts the evaluation and
they turn in their findings to the department that are responsible for planning. The planner then
manually creates a schedule for maybe one year ahead and also he allocates the fleets in the order of
their importance, since the company is operating only three types of aircraft. This planning of course
is depends on demand by customers, the capacity of the aircraft and their speed. Air Transat uses
ALTITUDE for the designing of monthly batch of assignments for about 250 flight deck personnel
through roaster. This also made it possible for them to use bidlines in creating the schedules for their
900 flight attendants. With the growing trend recorded in the industry and complications that may
result in real world instance, the manual operations cannot solve a large scale problems hence the need
for the introduction of advance computer software. Besides giving Air Transat the potentials to
manage planning and scheduling, ALTITUDE also supported the company s rapid growth

The Spaniard Revolt
During the time of the Spaniard rule, the Indians were subjugated to not only the crown s law but also
to the Spaniards religion. From the time that the Spaniards landed until the time Pueblo s revolt took
place the Indians were treated terribly. They were not only made into slaves but they were starved, and
treated with violence when the Spaniard friars began to convert the Indians to Christianity. Spain
wanted to become rich off American land but they also had another goal, to convert the Indians
religion. Because the Spaniards made the Indians into slaves, and believed them barbaric in their
religion, they did not see the Indians as equal and were treated horribly; until, Las Casas began to
write letters of the events and Popé became the leader of the Pueblo revolt.

Heterosexist Discrimination In America
Americans live in a society that seems constantly plagued by various types of discrimination. For
instance, ableism, classism, and sizeism are a few examples of the sorts of systematic discriminations
that Americans face every day. However, as of late, one of the most prevalent forms that targets
homosexual minorities is Heterosexist discrimination. Heterosexism is defined as the discrimination
or prejudice against homosexuals ( Heterosexism ). In addition to being prejudiced and discriminatory,
Heterosexism is more often than not paired with the idea that heterosexuality is the normal sexual
orientation, and therefore superior. For the past couple of years, America has attempted to mend the

respectively. Lennie s death is foreshadowed by the death of Candy s dog. Candy s dog was old and
therefore suffering. Carlson, one of the migrant workers shoots the dog, directly through the head.
After the death of his dog, Candy becomes extremely lonely. He regrets letting Carlson shoot his dog
and wished that he had done it himself. Just like the dog, Lennie is also shot through the back of the
head. After Lennie kills Curley s wife, he follows George s orders and runs back to the Salinas River;

In the first chapter of Of Mice and Men , George discovers that Lennie had been keeping dead mice in
his pocket. Lennie insists on an unlikely story, that the mice were already dead when he found them.
This shows the audience that although Lennie does not mean to kill the mice, it keeps recurring
because he is completely unaware of his own strength. Later on in the story, Lennie kills one of Slim s
puppies. He was warned to be gentle and keep the pup with its mother but didn t listen. These scenes
keep building and building until the climax of the novella, when Lennie breaks the neck of Curley s
wife and kills her. During the film The Green Mile there is frequent foreshadowing of the powers that
John Coffey possesses. The first sign of John s magic is at the start of the film, when he is seen
holding the bodies of the two dead girls and crying. Although the magic is not clear at the time, the
audience is able to look back upon that scene and realise that John was trying to heal the two girls, not
hurt them. When John first gets to the Green Mile, Paul has an extremely painful UTI. John is able to
take Paul s UTI onto himself and regurgitate it out in the form of flies. This is the first obvious sign of
his magic. Later on in the book, John uses slightly more magic when Percy steps on Mr. Jingles the

After filing a complaint, she was so much harassed by the police that it led to her eventual suicide. But
Rathore was convicted on Dec 21, 2009 after two decades of the crime. It is because the accused was
given this much time that he could gather false evidences resulting in lingering of the case for two
decades. Another instance is the 1993 Mumbai Blast case. One of the accused and well known
bollywood actor, Sanjay Dutt, was convicted after a long period on 2013. The acquittal of congress
leader Sajjan Kumar in 1984 riot case again proves the hold of nefarious politicians, whose sole raison
d être is amassing power and money, over the court s judgement. These instances give corroborative
evidences of the subjection of judiciary to political and financial clout. This legal maxim framed by
British Prime Minister, William Ewart Gladstone , is to some extend vindicated. But it should not be
forgotten that in between seeking justice and deliverance of justice there are a lot of pre requisites,
formalities and prescribed procedures governing the court proceedings that need to be followed. These
are very time consuming but unavoidable also. For example, it is rather a precondition that every
accused be given reasonable chance to defend himself.

Use Of Diction And Its Effects On Adult Men With Erectile...
Sildenafil, or more commonly known as VIAGRA, is a medication that is geared towards adult men
with erectile dysfunction, abbreviated ED (Medicines EMC). It is stated that about 30 million men in
the United States suffer from ED (Viagra). In Viagra commercials and advertisements, blunt diction is
utilized to highlight the common insecurities of men, which creates this idea that in order to fulfill one
s manliness, then an individual would have to take Viagra. In this particular advertisement, I noticed
key ploys to entice a man suffering from ED to take Viagra as a means by using a bold selection of
diction, a paradise getaway background seen from a cabana, and an inviting, seductive woman.
In the advertisement, the audience may first notice the blue text in the upper left corner that reads,
Gentlemen: VIAGRA helps guys with ED get and keep an erection. The text is light blue, which is the
same color as the pill, to indicate that this product is targeted towards males. The use of diction in this
advertisement is straight forward with strong connotation. It blatantly states what the product does.
This could instill the idea that the product is confident and a guaranteed investment, thus making the
consumer believe that it may help with his sex life. Viagra may also be intentionally bolded as a
connection to what the product is intended to do. The text looks bigger and bolder and the product s
purpose is to make a male suffering from ED to become bigger and bolder. This

Best Performance Incentive Plan
The best performance incentive plans are the ones that work, of course, but what works for employees
cash or days off might not be what your organization can afford. Incentive plans that are effective at
motivating billers must be affordable and targeted to specific results. Most importantly, they must be
finite that is, not a permanent entitlement.
Put careful thought into the design, goals and timing of any incentive plan big or small. Use these 10
tips to shape your organization s incentives for billers:
1. Recognize that the revenue cycle is a function of many factors
Billing is an operational process, not a desk or a department. Your incentive plan should recognize that
everyone in the organization plays a role in the process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evaluate annually.
Review your incentive plan s overall results annually against the performance it is supposed to inspire.
In some cases, you may be able to put a cash value on the plan s impact: for example, the number of
reduced denials from practice caused errors times the cost of reworking a denied claim. Once you
reach a goal, such as collecting 100 percent of patient copayments at time of service, move on to other
targets.
10. Consider non monetary awards.
The problem with most financial incentive plans is that they become an expectation, which means
they are no longer motivating better performance but merely maintaining the status quo. Staff may
come to view the additional cash as part of their normal compensation. They may even start depending
on it. After the plan expires, morale (and results) can suffer as staff perceive that you took something
away from them.
You can alleviate many of these issues by sticking to short term plans three to six months. Better still,
consider a non monetary incentive plan. Non monetary awards can work well, and maybe better than
cash awards, because they are perceived as more spontaneous and

People might masturbate to you. Does that make you porn? My cheeks filled up with a scornful red

Unemployment and Its Effect on the Economy and Society
Unemployment is an ongoing problem throughout the world. One may asked, what is unemployment?
It is the number of persons who are willing and able to work but are unable to find jobs.
Unemployment is harmful to a country because it imposes costs on a Society. The cost of employment
to a nation can be categorised under three heading, namely · The Social Cost · The Cost to the
Exchequer · The Economic Cost The Social Cost of Unemployment The social cost of involuntary
unemployment is incalculable. For an individual, the demoralising effect that it can have clearly
depends upon whether the period of unemployment is short term or long term. Short term
unemployment may have no serious effect on an individual whilst long term unemployment can ...

This means that society has experienced a lower standard of living than would have been possible
without rising level of unemployment. The loss of potential output resulting from involuntary
unemployment is clearly a serious matter for an economy. Resources which are willing and able to
work in order to raise the rate of output and to boost living standards are failing to be employed. This
is a true waste of resources. It is not so clear, however, whether the loss of potential output through
voluntary unemployment is so serious. It may simple mean that be that more people are taking
advantage of higher social security benefits to spend more time searching for suitable jobs. There are
numerous causes to the problem of unemployment which may vary from country to country. Amongst
them are Natural unemployment The level of natural unemployment can be defined as the number of
persons who are employed even when the labour market is in long run equilibrium that is when the
total demand for labour is equal to the supply of labour at the prevailing level of real wage rates. In
this situation, people may be unemployed because: · they are between jobs and are taking time to
search for the most appropriate job with the highest wage(search unemployment) · the industry in
which they have traditionally worked have experienced a structural decline or has been influenced by
technological advances (structural unemployment) · there has been a seasonal

Caught In The Crossfire Sociology
1. I can say it is a huge difference between being victimized by someone known to the victim vs. a
stranger. If it is you are victimized by an individual you personally know, it is possible that you might
come in contact with that individual again and you might question yourself with the intent of the
abuse. You may conceptualize why would they subject you to that type of abuse or what did you do to
deserve the physical abuse. In addition, it might be somewhat challenging to report the individual for
the reason that you may perhaps consider that an individual is a decent person after all. The victim
will retract or just not report the abuse so they will begin to feel sympathetic for the individual as to
make excuses for them by stating they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, if the judge would look at the wishes of an ex wife or daughter, it would also cause someone
to leave the room unhappy if it comes to worst (Ng, 2013). People would question the judge ruling, if
the judge would give a suspect slap on the wrist, or maximum sentencing for a lesser crime, because
of the emotional feelings of others.
3.3 A judge should never take into consideration of the victim or family member requests to give a
harsher or lesser sentencing. As I said before the sentencing of a suspect shouldn t be just based off of
granting a request. If the judge were to consider the family s request, though, the fact that it was
Vincent s ex wife and not his current wife would have made a difference because she could have bad
feelings for him (Ng, 2013).
4. I believe that it had detrimental effects on the offender s family. First of all, the case was all over the
media showing the offender in a negative way, which could cause a lot of stress for the family
members. Everyone felt remorseful for the victim so it could be a tough time for the offender s family.
You can tell that it was a tough time because Matthew Cordle made a video expressing how sorry he
was and how he wished he never killed their family member (Ng,

Tracy Smith Identity
Comparative Literary Essay: Who Am I?
The journey of life does not always lead people to their desired destination; instead it spews them out
into a cold reality where they are not satisfied their our own identity. Everyone is faced with decisions
in life to make; it is ultimately how individuals think and act in these situations that makes them
human and portrays an identity for them. Humans are bound to make mistakes during these critical
decisions that affect both relationships and them as individuals; as a result people are regretful about
their identity. Sooner or later people arrive at a point in life where they want to reassess themselves,
indicating the theme of Rethinking Identity that is associated with search for an identity, which ...

Tracy K. Smith incorporates many instants of imagery in order to convey her message, my arm on the
rest beside yours, our lights pricking at the fog, tugging us patiently. (Smith, 29,29) This picture is
clearly painted in the mind of the reader, further interpretation leads us to believe that Tracy K. Smith
is trying to find direction in life and into how she wants to both act and be perceived, as but her path is
unclear, just as the fog makes our road hazy. The use of imagery is also beneficial as it gives the
reader insight into what Tracy K. Smith thought about her identity at different points in her life, such
an instance is given in her childhood, What did it mean to smooth across the casket of your belly?
What echoed there, if not me . (Smith, 6,7) This shows that Tracy had thought about her identity in the
past, and wondered what it was. It gives the readers a sense of not knowing themselves, this would
push anyone into a search or rethinking an identity, the same goes for Tracy. Rachel Joyce strategically
uses imagery, He wanted to describe what it feels like to find your boy in a pool of vomit and carry
him to bed and mop him up and pretend in the morning you have not seen that. He wanted to say what
it was like to be a child and find the man who was your father in the same manner. He wanted to say,
What happened? Was it me? Am I the link here? But he didn t. (Joyce, 256) Through Harold s
accounts, it becomes undeniable that his son had put him in a frictional position, mentally challenging
Harold, and putting the blame on him. His son s actions lead Harold to doubt the way he had brought
his son up. Imagery paints a picture to the characters harsh realty in both the novel and poem, which
leads us doubtless into why they

psychologist is someone who uses experimentation and other sources to understand and change human
behaviour. This type of psychologist would benefit from this article because they can try to understand
the mental triggers that lead to suicide, and can manipulate certain lifestyles to see if it will result into
a different outcome. When someone comes to the thought of committing suicide, this usually means
that this person is some sort of mental pain. In this article, it was found that stress and anxiety had lead
people to committing suicide, and the numerous amounts of situations that was found to lead to

the types of behaviours that can lead to suicide and help people to identify when someone is suffering.

Cushing s syndrome
In this report I will be discussing the Endocrine System, and Cushing s syndrome, a disease that
targets this system. The endocrine system works together with the nervous system to maintain the
body s homeostasis. Although both the nervous system and endocrine system do both help in
maintaining the body s homeostasis the endocrine system responds much slower but its effects last for
longer periods of time. The slow response of the endocrine system is due to the utilizing of chemical
messengers known as hormones that are transported through the bloodstream. These hormones
function by binding to specific receptor sites on target cells, the activation of these target cells depends
on 3 important factors. The first of these factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rate Of Amylase Lab Report
Purpose of Investigation To study how pH and temperature would effect the reaction rate for amylase
on starch.
Amylase is an enzyme found in human saliva and pancreas. It is the digestive enzyme that is needed to
breakdown starch molecules. Amylase must be kept at certain conditions to function at its optimum
level. The efficiency of starch digestion by amylase can be measured by how much simple sugar it
produces under various conditions. This experiment will explore the effect of pH (3, 5, 9, and 11) on
the function of amylase by using starch.
Hypothesis
Amylase have an optimal temperature and pH at which it functions. Amylase works best at pHs of
body temperature in humans. If the pH deviates extremely in either direction (higher or lower) ...

Factors that may cause the enzyme to denature are pH and temperature. When an enzyme is denatured,
it can no longer bind to the active site, and therefore cannot carry out its functions. Therefore, adding
pH buffer to amylase will affect the enzyme s function uopn its addition to starch.
Materials and Methods
Prepare 8 clean, dry test tubes in a stand and label them #1 8 with masking tape. Carefully and
generously spit into test tube 1 8 and add 2 3 ml of distilled water.
Effect of Temperature
1. Place test tube 1 into a room temperature bath, place test tube 2 into an ice water bath (0), place test
tube 3 into warm water bath (37) and place test tube 4 into a hot water bath (80).
2. Add 5ml of 1% starch solution into test tubes 1, 2, 3, and 4. Mix the starch solution with the saliva

The Relationship Between Accounting Responsibility Of Real...
Hence, the negative impacts of earnings management and accusing earnings management as one of the
main reason of last decade financial scandals have forced accounting setters and financial regulators to
provide solutions and initiatives for hindering earnings management. However, most of the attempts
have failed, since earnings managements researchers found that managers still can achieve their
earnings management objectives, through manipulating real activities. So it is more useful to examine
the relationship between accounting responsibility in real earnings management. ???? There are some
reasons for why managers manage earnings. At the basic level, the reasons are related to the
performance of the firm with respect to some benchmark. This benchmark could be the previous
period s performance that shows an improving trend, analyst s expectations or whatever benchmark is
specified in a manager s compensation contract. Missing these benchmarks can be extremely costly
because the relationship between stock price and compensation and earning is very non linear around
the benchmarks. When firms are extremely close to the target, the incentives to take earning just over
the target becoming exceedingly strong. In these cases, the firms will try and use some form of
upwards earnings management to bump up earnings over the target. However, when firms are below
their target, they have an incentive to make things worse for the following two reasons. Firstly, it is

Describe Your Happy Place
Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called Valla
Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small town in which
most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment and
explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and
neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had
lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. Being inside seemed like such a dull
affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a natural world. I feel as if these early life
experiences led me to always have a special connection with the natural environment as it was the one
true place that I could seek comfort and clarity my happy place.
Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it was cut
off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small dam in the
bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that winded up
and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy
had made from scrap materials. When I was 12, a housing development crew came to town and begun
marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within weeks they were underway. They
began draining the dam to make way

Appearance Vs Reality Research Paper
Reality? What Reality?
Meditation can be a double edged tool. It can reveal the nature of actual reality, but in doing so it also
reveals many other states of consciousness that we experience as real but are not usually aware of their
true nature, depending on our present level of awareness. So, while meditation can show us true
reality, in the process we may realize that we have been living in a conceptual representation of reality
for perhaps years or even a whole lifetime.
Many of those who pursue meditation as a means of achieving self realization or self awareness reach
a point where they suddenly begin to perceive on an intuitive level, a truth that is fundamental to their
well being and sense of self and security, at which point some choose to continue and some choose to
discontinue the journey of meditation. In fact, this is a well known obstacle in meditation that has to
do with the true nature of reality and our perception or lack of perception of what is real.
Who Or What Is Aware
Suppose we go on an intellectual version of an actual meditation experience. We are sitting in a quiet
room surrounded by the familiar objects of our life. We place a candle on a low table before where we
intend to sit and meditate. There is little light in the room and we light the candle before us and begin

This particular meditation discipline is about achieving enlightenment through insight. Perceiving
awareness as a threat is a sure sign that we are not living in the real world but rather some conceptual
reality produced by our own minds ability to imagine and create mental constructs of what is real. And
with a long enough exposure to this, we will of course begin to believe and experience it as real. That
is, as long as we don t attempt to develop any true level of awareness though something like
meditation which would eventually reveal the

Some may think that both the New England and Chesapeake regions both were alike, since they were

Jamestown colony was lead here to settle by John Smith, while the Mass Bay colony was settled by
John Cotton and John Winthrop. The Mass Bay colony was inside the New England region while the
Chesapeake area was inside the Jamestown colony. These two regions developed into two unique

The New England region allowed both men and women, but in Chesapeake they didn t allow women.
In New England they had migrated with families and allowed middle aged men and women to be on
this trip. This had an impact where men and women had different work roles usually men doing the
hunting and fishing while the women and if they had children would have the house keeping job. This
would differ from the Chesapeake region where they brought no families and only had young men
more than fourteen and without females they would not be able to reproduce and have families. This
changed how they jobs would work because then they would not have the gender roles as presented in
New England. Once they reached their settlement they had different scenarios with the natives. In
New England they have less encounters with the Natives there since the disease was present wiped
them out. The Natives were decimated by the disease before the Mayflower reached land which
concluded to less conflict. On the other hand the Natives were not decimated in Chesapeake which
then created more conflicts since it was always wars and conflict for the land and resources within the

  • 2. The Benefits of Forests to Societies INTRODUCTION Forests have diverse ecological roles and provide multiple resources for society in addition to the mere direct wood products. They act as habitat for animals, play significant role in water cycling and soil development, provide resins, oils, mushrooms etc, and also used as hunting and recreation place. Mediterranean forests are characterized by multi functionality and associated diversity in both wood and non wood forest products (NWFP). The most valuable non wood forest products from these forests include pine nuts, cork, edible fungi and resins (Bravo et al., 2011). Wilde edible fungi, which is getting much attention as one of NWFPs due to its potential is the focus of this study. Boa (2004) stated that wild edible fungi are valuable non wood forest products throughout the world and have a clear potential for commercial use. Some fungi such as boletes (Boletus edulis) or saffron milk caps (Lactarius group deliciosus) are specially valued in many countries, and their trade has become an important complementary economic activity in many regions (Voces et al., 2011; Cai et al., 2011; Martínez de Aragón et al., 2011). Some studies have also showed that the market demand for many ectomycorrhizal fungi has increased to the extent that commercial value of forest fungi may equal or even surpass the value of timber (Alexander et al., 2002; Arnolds et al., 1995; Oria de Rueda et al., 1991). This has triggered a growing interest from forest owners and managers to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Influence Of Media And Pop Culture On Young Girls In today s society media and pop culture are heavy influences on girls of all ages. Everywhere we look there is something claiming to make us happier, look better, and telling us how we can improve our lifestyles. Young girls to young adults are drawn to these advertisements. Studies say that girls from the age of thirteen to nineteen are most vulnerable to the persuasion of the advertisements put out by companies claiming to help them live a better and more defined life. Magazines such as Seventeen magazine target young girls using celebrities, visual techniques, and many other techniques to draw their attention. To be in Style One technique used by Seventeen is the use of bright colors to drawn in attention. They use bold, busy colors and fonts contrasted on clean, crisp backgrounds to catch the young eyes of girls who connect these contrasts with an upbeat style. They use bold, feminine, sophisticated type fonts to grab the eyes of women. Their headlines stick out, making themselves the center of attention. Most of these headlines are fashion centered. They use fashion to appeal to girls find the best clothes makeup and hairstyles. They make it feel personal by claiming to know what will work for you and your body type, face shape, and skin tone. They sell their secrets on how to look great every day. They dress they re models in clothes that reflect the theme of the magazine. This appeals to the women s desire to be in style. Idolization Another technique they use and one of the most commonly used by Seventeen is the use of celebrities. Teens often look at celebrities as superhumans. They find celebrities to look up to. They idolize them, want to be like them. Magazines use this to their advantage. They plaster the faces of some of the most influential stars to their front pages claiming to help teens become just like their idol. They make sure to cover all social platforms from actresses to singer, models, and socialites. Seventeen has used people such as Sarah Hyland, Maddie Ziegler, Zendaya and Carrie Underwood. They use these people as marketing tools. These people are seen in the public eye as credible sources especially by the girls who look up to them. They try to appeal to the fact ... • 4. Fahrenheit 452 In our 21st century today, it is somewhat precise to how Ray Bradbury portrayed the future in his novel Fahrenheit 451. Mildred Montag s fate really matches up to the people in our society. Mildred, like many people today, are constantly on their technology devices and having no interest in the outside world. If more and more people in our word become like Mrs. Montag, then we will start losing interest in people and the world outside of technology. Bradbury reveals to the readers that Mildred Montag has short term memory. Mildred easily forgets what happened the night before when she overdosed on sleeping pills. Maybe you took two pills and forgot and took two more, and forgot again and took two more, and were so dopey you kept right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The things you re looking for, Montag, are in the world, but the only way the average chap will ever see ninety nine per cent of them is in a book. Don t ask for guarantees. And don t look to be saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die knowing you were headed for shore (Bradbury 86). I believe that in the future, when hard covered or soft covered books don t exist anymore because books can now be purchased on any type of device or because people don t really read nowadays, we will for sure miss books one day. Our world today does not read books as often as in the past because movies are constantly being made from books and most people don t feel the need to read it, if they are just going to go watch the movie. Reading books to me is like living in a different world because it makes me see more of the struggles that people in our society face without me having to actually experience it. I love the feeling of putting myself in the shoes of the main character and seeing the journeys they go through with heartbreak, solving mysteries, or living in poverty and finding ways to survive. • 5. Character Analysis Of Mr. Wills Will J. The Taste of Melon: Mr. Wills Character Analysis Nov. 17 2017 In The Taste of Melon by Borden Deal, the character of Mr. Wills is written as a round/complex character. Mr. Wills exhibits three main traits throughout the story, and those traits do not change. First is his success as a farmer, second is his emotional personality, and third is his intimidating and frightening demeanor and reputation. While it may be easy to say that Mr. Wills is a dynamic character, his core traits never change at any point in the plot. Only the way he is perceived by other characters changes. The first main character trait of Mr. Wills is his success as a farmer. During the exposition of the plot as the narrator is introducing all of its characters, he says Mr. Wills was the best farmer in the community. (Deal, 131) as if it was common knowledge. The narrator s father chimes in when he says ...that he could drive a stick into the ground and grow a tree out of it. (Deal, 131) Mr. Wills appears to show his technical proficiency in farming best when he is growing watermelons. As the narrator put it; Other men, like Mr. Wills, can throw some seed on the ground, scuff some dirt over it, walk off and leave it. And they ll have a crop of the prettiest, biggest melons you ever saw. (Deal, 131) This trait did not change during the story; never was it revealed that Mr. Wills was putting fake watermelons in his patch, or that he was importing prize melon seeds. From what is shown in the story Mr. Wills is just a talented man. The second main character trait of Mr. Wills are his volatile emotions. Beside the obvious examples of him simply showing anger, such as When he plowed his fields you could hear him yelling for a mile. (Deal, Pg. 131) There is also the example of him performing actions out of anger and then regretting them later. Then I saw it, he was destroying every melon in the patch! (Deal, Pg. 137), and You ruined the half of it, and I ruined the other. (Deal, Pg. 140) These quotes show that Mr. Wills has a tendency to act brashly and then regret it. This is a trait that does not change through the story, instead it is fully revealed near the end during the resolution of the plot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sildenafil, or more commonly known as VIAGRA, is a medication that is geared towards adult men with erectile dysfunction, abbreviated ED (Medicines EMC). It is stated that about 30 million men in the United States suffer from ED (Viagra). In Viagra commercials and advertisements, blunt diction is utilized to highlight the common insecurities of men, which creates this idea that in order to fulfill one s manliness, then an individual would have to take Viagra. In this particular advertisement, I noticed key ploys to entice a man suffering from ED to take Viagra as a means by using a bold selection of diction, a paradise getaway background seen from a cabana, and an inviting, seductive woman. In the advertisement, the audience may first notice the blue text in the upper left corner that reads, Gentlemen: VIAGRA helps guys with ED get and keep an erection. The text is light blue, which is the same color as the pill, to indicate that this product is targeted towards males. The use of diction in this advertisement is straight forward with strong connotation. It blatantly states what the product does. This could instill the idea that the product is confident and a guaranteed investment, thus making the consumer believe that it may help with his sex life. Once you reach a goal, such as collecting 100 percent of patient copayments at time of service, move on to other targets. 10. Consider non monetary awards. The problem with most financial incentive plans is that they become an expectation, which means they are no longer motivating better performance but merely maintaining the status quo. Staff may come to view the additional cash as part of their normal compensation. They may even start depending on it. After the plan expires, morale (and results) can suffer as staff perceive that you took something away from them. It gives the readers a sense of not knowing themselves, this would push anyone into a search or rethinking an identity, the same goes for Tracy. Rachel Joyce strategically uses imagery, He wanted to describe what it feels like to find your boy in a pool of vomit and carry him to bed and mop him up and pretend in the morning you have not seen that. He wanted to say what it was like to be a child and find the man who was your father in the same manner. He wanted to say, What happened? Was it me? Am I the link here? But he didn t. (Joyce, 256) Through Harold s accounts, it becomes undeniable that his son had put him in a frictional position, mentally challenging Harold, and putting the blame on him. His son s actions lead Harold to doubt the way he had brought his son up. The endocrine system works together with the nervous system to maintain the body s homeostasis. Although both the nervous system and endocrine system do both help in maintaining the body s homeostasis the endocrine system responds much slower but its effects last for longer periods of time. The slow response of the endocrine system is due to the utilizing of chemical messengers known as hormones that are transported through the bloodstream. These hormones function by binding to specific receptor sites on target cells, the activation of these target cells depends on 3 important factors. The first of these factors ... Amylase is an enzyme found in human saliva and pancreas. It is the digestive enzyme that is needed to breakdown starch molecules. Amylase must be kept at certain conditions to function at its optimum level. The efficiency of starch digestion by amylase can be measured by how much simple sugar it produces under various conditions. This experiment will explore the effect of pH (3, 5, 9, and 11) on the function of amylase by using starch. Hypothesis Amylase have an optimal temperature and pH at which it functions. • 27. The Relationship Between Accounting Responsibility Of Real... Hence, the negative impacts of earnings management and accusing earnings management as one of the main reason of last decade financial scandals have forced accounting setters and financial regulators to provide solutions and initiatives for hindering earnings management. However, most of the attempts have failed, since earnings managements researchers found that managers still can achieve their earnings management objectives, through manipulating real activities. So it is more useful to examine the relationship between accounting responsibility in real earnings management. ???? There are some reasons for why managers manage earnings. At the basic level, the reasons are related to the performance of the firm with respect to some benchmark. This benchmark could be the previous period s performance that shows an improving trend, analyst s expectations or whatever benchmark is specified in a manager s compensation contract. Missing these benchmarks can be extremely costly because the relationship between stock price and compensation and earning is very non linear around the benchmarks. When firms are extremely close to the target, the incentives to take earning just over the target becoming exceedingly strong. In these cases, the firms will try and use some form of upwards earnings management to bump up earnings over the target. However, when firms are below their target, they have an incentive to make things worse for the following two reasons. Firstly, it is highly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Describe Your Happy Place Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called Valla Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small town in which most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment and explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. Being inside seemed like such a dull affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a natural world. I feel as if these early life experiences led me to always have a special connection with the natural environment as it was the one true place that I could seek comfort and clarity my happy place. Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it was cut off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small dam in the bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that winded up and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy had made from scrap materials. When I was 12, a housing development crew came to town and begun marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within weeks they were underway. They began draining the dam to make way ... • 33. Appearance Vs Reality Research Paper Reality? What Reality? Meditation can be a double edged tool. It can reveal the nature of actual reality, but in doing so it also reveals many other states of consciousness that we experience as real but are not usually aware of their true nature, depending on our present level of awareness. So, while meditation can show us true reality, in the process we may realize that we have been living in a conceptual representation of reality for perhaps years or even a whole lifetime. Many of those who pursue meditation as a means of achieving self realization or self awareness reach a point where they suddenly begin to perceive on an intuitive level, a truth that is fundamental to their well being and sense of self and security, at which point some choose to continue and some choose to discontinue the journey of meditation. In fact, this is a well known obstacle in meditation that has to do with the true nature of reality and our perception or lack of perception of what is real. Who Or What Is Aware Suppose we go on an intellectual version of an actual meditation experience. We are sitting in a quiet room surrounded by the familiar objects of our life.
