The American Library Association has recorded a total of 275 books that were challenged in 2015,
The Holy Bible was one of the top 10 most challenged books. The challenging and banning of books

Megan McArdle states During the time when people are supposed to be learning to face an often hard
world as adults, and going through the often uncomfortable process of building their intellectual
foundations, they are demanding to be sheltered from anything that might challenge their beliefs or
recall unpleasant facts to their mind. If you are removed from anything that goes against your beliefs,
then you won t be able to adapt to the really world. The real world is all about adapting and learning
with many different people that are very different from you. JW Wilson, from the Advanced Learning
Institute says in a quote Some parents and educators believe that a child is like a huge container. To
insure the child s success, they think it their job to fill it up with as much information as possible, as
quickly as possible. This misconception is damaging the brilliance of millions of our youth. JW
Wilson is saying that students need to be sheltered and not be bombarded with a lot of information. In
an article it states that People may have to tolerate the existence of offensive speech in society as a
whole, but they do not have to accept its presence in a library funded by their tax dollars ( Library ). If
people aren t expose to questionable topics before stepping out into college or the real world it will be
hard for them to adjust to dealing with offensive speech since it is everywhere: television, the internet,

Summary Of How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents
Julia Alvarez is a famous author from the Dominican Republic. She is most known for winning the
PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles book award in 1991 for her novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their
Accents (Barth). Alvarez s Dominican background and her immigration to the United States
influenced her writing, especially in the novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents.
Alvarez was born in New York in 1950 but lived the first ten years of her life in the Dominican
Republic. At the time, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina, a ruthless tyrant, held a dictatorship over the
Dominican Republic (Barth). How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents takes place at the time of this
dictatorship. Alvarez s father was involved in a plot to overthrow Rafael Trujillo and moved his family
back to New York when it failed (Barth). This abrupt uprooting was a culture shock to Alvarez who
was used to the traditional Dominican culture (Shuman). In her novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their
Accents, Alvarez describes the struggles that result when children are uprooted from their Dominican
culture.
How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents explores the complications four sisters face when trying to
immerse themselves in American culture. This includes religion, language barriers, fitting in at
American schools, physical appearance, and family dynamics. Alvarez writes about many of the same
struggles she faced during her own cultural transition.
In both Alvarez s and the Garcia sisters experience, learning the

Sentences By Bonaventure
When one believes in God he naturally revealed to them through the goodness in his creation. By
looking at the surrounding world one can see God s fingerprints. In his work, Sentences, Bonaventure
modestly defines creation as as the loving outflow of a loving God whose infinite dynamic goodness
is shared in a limited dynamic way. Creation is God s other. God doesn t have to create since God is
infinitely bountiful and self communicative within Himself. Creation flows out of the infinite fountain
of divine self diffusive goodness because God is creative and loving. The Father freely desires to
create because God is love, and perfect love can never be self contained it must be shared.
Bonaventure indicates that the world exists by virtue of the free creative power of divine love.
Creation is a free act of divine goodness spilling forth from the infinite divine community of love.
Bonaventure uses the term emanation to describe the expression of creation from the loving
community of a triune God. Emanation used in the Christian sense means that creation flows out of
the infinite, transcendent one. Bonaventure metaphorically writes, Creation is like a river, which flows
from a spring, spreads throughout the land to purify and fructify it, and eventually flows back to its
point of origin. This image speaks to the intimate connection between creation and the triune God as
well as creation s cyclical nature. Bonaventure writes that creation can find its origin in a single

Nature Of Human Tissue Specimens Within Museum Collections
The specimen is relatively rare with regard to other gynaecological pathology specimens, and is
relatively complete, although there have been some modifications made through time for the safety of
the human tissue. The specimen is significant for the interpretive potential that it holds, however it is
limited by the lack of documented provenance, given that some of the information obtained is
anecdotal oral history and cannot be verified through documentation.
Within the last twenty years, the controversial nature of human tissue specimens within museum
collections has sometimes led to their disposal, and the erosion of technical conservation skills relating
to this particular type of collection. The UCL Pathology Collection has in recent ... Show more content

[add source?] The first step towards further improving accessibility would be to expand public
opening hours in order to attract a wider audience than simply schools and people of UCL. This could
also be achieved through a more ambitious events programme that could include publically bookable
talks and activities.
Concerns are often raised about the appropriateness of human specimens in a class environment.
However, staff at the UCL Pathology Collection have found that children are not so much frightened
or disturbed by the specimens in the collections, rather they are intrigued and wish to understand more
about health issues and specimen collecting in the past. In this sense, pathology collections can be a
key way of presenting health concerns through object study, away from a dependence on photography
and diagrams in text books. Children in particular have been shown to respond well to learning
through object handling. Specimens and objects relating to the history of medicine have been
identified as having an almost unique ability to profoundly impact upon museum visitors (Arnold,
1999). The inherent relatability of human organs, and the pain inflicted through the use of medical
instruments, can both ignite curiosity and instil fear and repulsion. Medicine as a subject has grown
exponentially to include areas such as art, politics, and commerce as well as

Comparing The Final Girl In Psycho And A Nightmare On Elm...
Lastly, the use of the final girl in both films are very different. In Psycho, Hitchcock uses both Marion
and Lila as his final girls. Though both hold different characteristic traits, and one character dies early
in the film, Hitchcock also has a male character save the final girl against the villain rather than having
her face him alone. This differentiates against the film A Nightmare on Elm Street because Nancy
finds her inner demons and faces Freddy Krueger alone in her dreams. She not only grows the strength
to put her fears aside but she kills him with the satisfaction that he finally means nothing to her and
that he is worthless. Craven s depiction of the final girl is much more closely related to how this
character is portrayed in slasher films now a days.
As for the similarities, both films hold a similar storyline. There is a group of young adults who are

Cunningham s 1980 film, Friday the 13th is about a group of young adult counselors Jack, Alice, Bill,
Marcie, and Ned who are looking to set up a summer camp in the woodsy area of Crystal Lake.
Despite being told by local residents about the history of murders that have occurred there, these
characters bypass the rumors and further proceed their process until they find themselves stalked by a
mass murderer. After nine body count deaths, Alice, a sweet, innocent, virgin girl, is the sole surviving
counselor or final girl who faces the vengeful mother Mrs. Voorhees. Near the end of the movie, Alice
is sitting next to the boathouse dock by the side of a lake peacefully until Mrs. Voorhees rushes at her
with a machete. Alice luckily dodges the attack and they both begin to wrestle and fight by the
lakeside until the Mrs. Voorhees is beheaded in slow motion. This not only marks the 10th death in the
film but it also demonstrates how such a sensible, good girl can quickly change into a brave character
who is not scared of a psychopath killer. Critic Jane Flame

Our Screwed Up Punishment System
Anyone with a TV has heard about large criminal cases in which a man or women has attacked a
group of people. We are informed of the victims, the violence, and the amount of deaths. Any channel
at a certain point is talking about the crime, it then becomes the only thing people are talking about.
Cases such as Casey Anthony, George Zimmerman, James Holmes, and Ariel Castro are cases that
have been talked about on the news, talk shows, and late night. In this list not all have a mental illness
but because of what they have done society has grouped them together, they are evil people who
deserve to rot in hell. People no matter the reason should be punished for what they did. The way we
as a society see it is that these monsters should go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The issue of this is that the inmates are not in the right state of mind to survive in a jail and therefore
look for ways to get out of it by killing themselves or others. When things like fights happen it makes
jail unsafe for both inmates and guards. This to me is important because if jails are full of people with
mental illnesses we are not helping them get better, we are letting them basically kill themselves and
not care for their well being. It is easy to see that the problem is the lack of unberstany of mental
illness because we live in a society that does not help other when they do something wrong; we
believe that they deserve what they get, and that shouldn t be the case. What I mean is that when a
person does something wrong and kill others or try to hurt other we see that person as an bertrand to
society and want nothing to do with them. What we do not take into consideration is that that person
can be mentally ill and have no control over what they have done. The article Mental Illness and
Violence talks about criminals that are violence and what factors play a large roll in a persons actions
and behavior. The factors that contribute to a person being violent come down to background,
emotions, and if they choose to use substances. The fact that in the article people with substance abuse
are likely to become violent and sent to jail without looking in to what is going on with them

Student Government At Houston Community
Four students voted in favor of changing the fundamental structure of student government at Houston
Community College. The motion passed.
The amendments to HCC s United Student Council constitution is changing the student government
system from Student Appointed Representatives to a senator system akin to how the University of
Houston s student government operates.
The change cuts out one layer of student government, and is intended to make student government
officers more accountable and cooperative district wide.
The only change that is happening is that we will no longer have Student Appointed Representatives,
explained United Student Council President Josue Rodriguez. Instead, students will directly elect their
representatives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When transformation started, all student organizations became district wide organizations, so
technically HCC has had seven operational district wide student government organizations for the past
two years. This change means that the student government at HCC will start operating more like a
single student government organization, not seven.
There were nine students and two student life advisors at the special United Student Council meeting
on Wednesday, April 5 when the vote took place. After some rewording of the amendments, five
students voted: one abstained and four voted in favor. The three students present who were USC
executive officers could not vote. The meeting started late as they group waited for the last student to
arrive so quorum could be met. The vote to amend the USC Constitution took place after the group
voted to suspend the normal parliamentary rules of order.
Although the meeting took place at their normal meeting room on the second floor of the HCC
Administrative building at 3100 Main, it wasn t their normal meeting day. It was changed from their
usual Friday meeting day to a Wednesday for student government officers who were at a convention.
Those officers still didn t attend.
Only Central, Coleman and Southeast were represented at the meeting when the vote took place. To

Creon Foil In Antigone
In Sophocles play, Antigone, Antigone is Creon s foil because the choices she choose to make, lead to
Creon s downfall. Two brothers, Polyneices and Eteocles, leaders of opposite sides of the civil war,

Athletic Training Rotation
My clinical rotation for the fall semester of my junior year is with the King s College Men s soccer
team. As an athletic training student, I hold a lot of responsibilities regarding the prevention,
evaluation, diagnosis, management, and treatment of these student athletes. Most of my daily activities
can be separated into three groups, the pre practice, pre game, during the activity, and post practice
and post game. Along with knowing human anatomy, other important characteristics of an athletic
trainer are having good communication skills, learning how to properly document medical
information, and always be keeping up to date with medical portals such as pyramed. Before the
athletes arrive for practices and games, I start off by getting the team a few water coolers and water
bottles set up at their designated practice area in order for the players to be properly hydrated. After
filling up the water, I always check to make sure the gator is properly equipped with an AED, splints,
and a fully stocked medical kit. Shortly after, the soccer team starts to arrive. Once the athletes arrive,

What Does The Flowers Symbolize In Paul s Case
In Willa Cather s, Paul s Case , several different references are made within the story in relation to
flowers. In many cases, the flowers resemble life and the journeys that one goes through. On the other
hand, flowers resemble death and how easily it can creep up on a person. Both these symbols can be
recognized in the story of the young protagonist; However, the true reason the flowers are so
prominent in the story is to resemble, and therefore predict, the life of Paul. Like the flowers, Paul will
bloom and prosper and be beautiful, but if the flowers spend too much time trying to live in a non
compatible season, the flowers will wither away and die like Paul. One of the most prominent flowers
in the story is Paul s red carnation, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of the story, ha states that, all the flowers he had seen in the glass cases that first night must have gone

outside the glass, and it was a losing game in the end (13). Here Paul describes how the carnations
resemble his life and how he, like the flowers, has wilted. This fabulous life he had been living was
short lived and eventually had to come to an end sometime. Likewise, the flowers had tried to live in a
season to which they had not belonged, mocking it behind a glass case. Paul had done the same; trying
to live a in lifestyle he did not belong to and believing he could live it on his own without the
protection of his fake identity. However, both Paul and the reader realize that when the glass is taken
away, the flowers wilt and die, like Paul does when his cover at the hotel is

National and regional HDRs aiming to address varying categories of threats and values can use the
human security approach in analyzing the topic. Previous reports based on the human security
approach have, for example, dealt with social exclusion, modernization and climate change; they have
used examples where the State has been a threat; or explored possible future threats. Human security
is a flexible approach and can be tailored to different contexts and topics, according to the specific
context. No matter which topic is addressed, a guiding principle of the human security approach is that
it requires understanding the particular threats experienced by particular groups of people, as well as
the participation of those people in the analysis process. Threats to human security can exist at all
levels of development. They can emerge slowly and silently or appear suddenly and dramatically.
Central to the approach is the idea that people have the right to live in freedom and dignity, free from
poverty and despair... with an equal opportunity to enjoy all their rights and fully develop their human
potential. 3

Changing Food Labels
Consumers could spend as much as $10 more per product if proposed label changes go through. The
FDA is proposing new food labels by changing its look, and what information is places on the label.
Improving food labels would not improve the public s health because it is (1)costly, (2)will take lots of
time and, (3)it is unnecessary. I believe that the new labels won t help public health because people are
not educated enough to know how to read them. More money should be spent on educating people on
the labels rather than changing them. If the new labels are made the people who knew how to read
them before will now have to learn how to read the new labels. With the new labels means more
money spent on things that is unneeded.

The Infinite Fragments of Siddhartha
An Analysis of the Various Elements of Siddhartha s Development.
Siddhartha experiences the conflict of the strengths of interior belief to that of exterior direction
throughout every chapter of the novel. During his adolescence, Siddhartha s skepticism of variegated
religions, both Brahmanism and the teachings of Samana, inflict a sense of uncertainty within
Siddhartha. Upon the meeting of Gautama and the appearance of Buddhism, Siddhartha arrives at the
realization that the path to nirvana cannot be learned through the teachings of others; on the contrary,
enlightenment is achieved through personal experiences and a deep understanding of one s own soul.

great level of independence and diligence to committing to his own beliefs, ultimately his revelations,

However, it is blatantly evident that it is not the literal teachings or preaching of the sub characters
which influence these revelations, but rather the value of the sub characters personal actions or
experiences within the eyes of Siddhartha . Hesse conveys, through the experiences and actions of
these sub characters, the weight each character carries in the construction of Siddhartha s own
personal beliefs. In some cases, it is Siddhartha s skepticism or defiance of the sub characters
teachings that determine his future actions; in other scenarios, it is Siddhartha s determination to

Essay on Ghost on the Throne Book Review
James Romm wrote Ghost on the Throne with the purpose to inform the reader of Alexander the Great
and the empire he established, with the ensuing chaos the came after when Alexander tragically died at
a young age. The book was organized somewhat chronologically, starting from opening the tombs in
which Alexander was buried and how he fell ill, to the closing of the tombs and a reflection of the fall
of his empire. Romm tried to answer the question of how Alexander died, providing multiple theories
of how and why he died. Romm seemed to advocate the theory of poison from Alexander s enemies,
including the fact that many people wanted to see Alexander dead. Romm also explained in great
detail how the empire fell; the countries wanted to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people were devastated and afraid that they had lost him. The two ideas are relevant to each other
and support the author s idea; that Alexander was perceived as a God to his people. However, the
switch in time periods makes the book more difficult to understand than if it was explained
chronologically. Romm did go into much detail about Alexander: he explained Alexander s family
history, his top advisors, his love life, his illness, and over all Alexander s personality. Romm
describes Alexander s family history and how he came to assume the throne after his father was
assassinated. Romm provided historical evidence of Alexander s family through the opening of
Alexander s tombs and sculptures found of other members of his family. Also mentioned were
Alexander s top military advisors and closest friends, known as the Successors. Detail was provided
that they did not try to succeed the king for the first seven years after Alexander s death. They wanted
his power, but not the throne. This supported the author s idea of people desiring power but how they
were conflicted with their respect for Alexander. Romm discussed Alexander s marriages as well as
his quest to conquer, showing a different side of Alexander. Alexander is mostly portrayed with a great
work ethic, imbued with a great desire. Through his last days, however, Romm expresses more of

Navy Core Values

started to get to know the other cadets by presented who we are and why we joined ROTC. Then, we
were tasked to know and understand the Navy Core Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. The
first Core Value is Honor . The reason Honor is one of the core values is because it describes itself as
being loyal to one another, and to inspire them to do the right thing. It can sometimes show power of
ones being of higher class or rank. It took me time to understand the process in which I could show a

I will always have faith in my fellow cadets and myself. For me to show courage I need to not be

Components Of A Food ( Glanz Et Al
Flavour is the most important attribute that determines the acceptance and desirability of a food
(Glanz et al., 1998). Flavours are generally added to foods to enhance palatability, replace flavour loss
during processing and/or storage, and to impart added flavour to analogue foods. Hydrolysates of
proteins generated by acid, enzymes or fermentation have a long history of use as taste enhancing and
savoury flavouring materials in the food industry. Besides being important precursors in thermal
process flavourings, protein hydrolysates are widely used in food products as flavouring ingredients in
their own right. Traditional European cuisine often incorporates hydrolysates of soy, wheat, meat and
fish for the preparation of soups and gravies, while fermented seasonings such as soy sauce, soybean
paste and fish sauce are prevalent in East Asian cuisine (Neklyudov et al., 2000).
Hydrolysed vegetable protein (HVP) is a savoury flavouring agent used to impart authentic bouillon
like characteristics and round off the taste of culinary preparations and ready to cook products
(Aaslyng et al., 1999). Unlike fermented seasonings, HVP is produced by acid and enzymatic
hydrolyses. The raw material, nature of hydrolysis and subsequent refinement determine individual
flavour characteristics of hydrolysates. Degradation products may also function as flavour precursors
in the Maillard reaction occurring during hydrolysis. Common plant protein sources include wheat,

definiteness answer to. Fashion is not just clothing but rather a declaration that one person picks to
identify themselves; even if someone opposes to what they choose to wear. Clothing is not only a
fabric stitched together but rather the hopes the creator had for those initially bland fabrics which are
what defines Rosetta Getty. Therefore, fashion is a feeling rather than option and what makes a
garment stand out is the format that it is styled. Rosetta Getty is a brand that stands out due to the
inventive and unique form of how each item is created and delivered to the consumers. One click into
the website of Rosetta Getty will lead to hours of scrolling and coming up with ideas of how to style
the garments into your own style. For instance a pair of white ... Show more content on

From Versace to Moschino each season has a new air to it that does not stick to one cohesive style; but
then you have Rosetta Getty with the inventive of having an idiosyncratic flair that is hard to come by
in the fashion world. This brand sticks to the basics yet they make it seem as though it has never been
done before. With all of the colors in this world it is rather eye pleasing to seeing a color scheme in a
fashion collection that you can see yourself wearing from a formal event to a student teacher meeting.
That is what a true fashion line does it makes you think wow and say I ll take one of everything
because although someone might have the same thing as you, Getty lets the wearer add their own flair
an individuality you might say which other designer doesn t tend to adhere to give to the user.
Furthermore, what brand do you know that has the option of buying one item and giving you the
freedom of reversing it to create another fabulous option for the

Who Is Dr. Gachet
Vincent Van Gogh is a widely known painter throughout the world for multiple reasons. His paintings
weren t just paintings, they were life experiences. Van Gogh s life was an emotional and mental
rollercoaster. Every single one of his paintings contained a story behind them. The visual aspect
seemed as if they were full of motion. His painting techniques seemed to be impeccable. During the
time period in which he was working on art, there was a big movement called the Impressionism
Movement. This movement inspired artist to draw more landscapes and incorporate motion into their
art. Van Gogh took full advantage of this movement. Van Gogh s hard life and painting strategies are
what made him so amazing as an all around artist. One of Van Gogh s ... Show more content on

When looking at the painting, dark blues consume most of the image. The portrait of Dr.Gachet is
painted with a sad, gloomy expression on his face. The painting, by Van Gogh, has a strong
connection to Vincent s personal life and relationships. This allows Vincent to apply his feelings and
experiences through the art. Dr.Gachet was a close friend of Vincent s brother Theo. Dr.Gachet was an
actual doctor that focused on homeopathic cures. He brought Vincent into his own home to try and
assist with his severe condition of depression as much as he possibly could. With living in a house
together Vincent and Dr.Gachet became close friends. Dr.Gachet even began painting as a side hobby.
Vincent would often show Dr.Gachet some small techniques when it came to painting. Dr.Gachet
became a man the Van Gogh became slightly attached to. The look on Dr.Gachet s face in the portrait
is supposed to resemble the sadness that Van Gogh had felt. Vincent felt as if his depression may have
worn off on the doctor. In the article Portrait of Dr.Gachet(July 2006) by Sandra Bertman, it states,
Van Gogh felt particular affinity for him on account of their similar bouts with depression and their
dependency on their vocation for emotional and intellectual fulfillment (para.3). With knowing the

Essay On Complex Engineering Systems
Complex engineering systems involve uncertain nature (in analysis, design, production and
operational phases) as well as multidisciplinary essence. Studies show that about 40% of failures are
due to lack of attention to uncertainties in the design phase and rest of failures depends on other
factors such as production phase, operational condition, and etc. so considering uncertainties are
unavoidable in the analysis and design of these systems. In general, uncertainties are divided into two
groups: aleatory uncertainty and epistemic uncertainty. Aleatory uncertainty describes the interior and
or environmental variations of physical systems. Epistemic uncertainty is due to inaccuracy in the
modeling process because of lack of knowledge in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decision maker can evaluate system performance and robustness by analyzing the Pareto frontier
variations due to uncertainties. As well as, the designer can distinguish the favorable or high risk
regions of design space. The robust design of structures is formulated as a multi criteria optimization
problem wherein both mean value and the standard deviation of the objective function are minimized
[4]. In this reference, the two criterion optimization problem is converted into single optimization
problem and is solved by a gradient based optimization algorithm. Jaeger et al. [8] proposed a
procedure for reliable and robust optimization of an aircraft at the conceptual design phase. The main
advantage of this approach is that it permits designers to update uncertainties from the historical
database at each step of optimization. To reduce the computational cost, response surface
approximations are constructed by Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS). Jafarsalehi et al. [9] has
implemented deterministic and nondeterministic approaches in the design of Remote Sensing
Satellites (RSS) under uncertainty. In this reference, a composition of multidisciplinary design
optimization and reliability based design optimization methods was introduced. MCS used for
uncertainty modeling. Multidisciplinary Design Feasible (MDF), Collaborative Optimization (CO),
Reliability Based Multidisciplinary Design Feasible (RB MDF) and

Summary Of Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan
Imagine being one of the best. Standing on a podium holding a trophy, yet coming home to parents
who are disappointed because you stood 3rd place on that podium. This is how Waverley feels in the
short story Rules of the Game by Amy Tan. Waverly lives with her mother, father, and two older
brothers in an apartment in Chinatown, San Francisco. Waverly loves to run around in the bustling
streets of her neighborhood smelling red beans and pastries being cooked nearby. One Christmas, the
Jong family went to their nearby church for a Christmas party, and Waverly s brother got a chess set.
This chess set sprouted a new hobby for Waverly, and soon after she played chess every day. Waverly
became a chess star, with a mother who wanted nothing less than her daughter to be number one.
Extreme tension built up from Mrs. Jong pressure, eventually leading the mother and daughter into a
fight that could ruin their relationship. The way Mrs. Jong reacted to Waverly s talent is especially
significant in Waverly s development. Sometimes when parents support their children too much it can
stress them out, and parents can often forget that children are children and you must let them relax.
Throughout Rules of the game , Mrs. Jong supports Waverly so much that Waverly feels as if she can t
mess up, for it would disappoint her mother. This leads to Waverly feeling a lot of pressure and stress.
Near the end of the story, before the fight, Waverly mentions a time she was trying to practice

Disadvantages Of Razor Blades
Introduction
Razor blades are a common topic in the world of consumers. They are available in many different
variations and from many different brands. Differences in price are huge, often resulting in frustrations
from consumers. In this thesis, I will try to explain differences between the brands by taking a closer
look at the technical aspects of the available razor blades.
Diamond like carbon is a class of amorphous carbon material which displays some typical properties
of diamond. This material is often applied as coating to other materials so that it can benefit from
some of the material properties of the DLC (diamond like carbon). It is known that one of the
properties of a DLC is a high hardness, which, on the other hand, makes it difficult to bond the
material to most metals. Some processes are known to tackle this problem, which we will discuss later.
[1]
Around the year 2000 more became known about the attractive properties of diamond like carbons and
Gillette, the market leader of razor blades, saw its potential. Gillette patented the use of particular
DLC s applied to the cutting edges of the razors. By that it improved the hardness, shave ability and

Often people do not understand why the shaving experience could be so different. This is possibly
caused by the DLC s, which may not be used by store brands because of patents. Gillette has been
very smart creating a fence around itself by having so many patents regarding the cutting edges of
razors. It can really distinguish from the cheaper brands with this technology. Apparently consumers
really seem to like the razor blades with DLC film applied to it, while Gillette is the global market
leader with 70 percent in the grooming business. [5] The DLC results in longer useful life and

Short Story First Day
As I run, trying desperately not to be late, my heart was pumping. It s my first day at my new school
and already I m 5 minutes late, wondering what will the teacher say and, more importantly, what my

I slowly begin to walk into the room, turning round to shut the door that seems to have stopped
creaking. As the door clicks shut, I take another deep breath, still aware of the eyes burning holes in
my back, and turn round to face the eyes and the teacher. As I look up and I make eye contact with the
teacher, I open my mouth, preparing to say something, when she beats me to it.
Excuse me, can I help u? , she says still making eye contact. I realise that she must have forgotten
about the new kid starting today. I open my mouth and say, Erm, yes, I m new to the school today and
I ve been told that I m in this class .
All of the time I m saying this I can still feel the eyes of the class piercing my back.
When the teacher hears this she breaks eye contact with me at last and looks down at something on her
desk. She seems to take forever as her eyes scan a piece of paper up and down several times. The class

Social Justice
Justice in a Capitalist Society
Justice basically advocating for individuals to have what is due to them. As a result, it becomes easy to
achieve fairness and impartiality in dealing with political, economic and social issues. Therefore,
social justice can be described as the promotion of a fair society by calling fighting injustices and also
upholding diversity. This can be observed in a society where people exhibit common humanity and all
have equal access to treatment, social services and equitable allocation of resources. This sort of
society condemns discrimination in the strongest terms possible, there is no prejudice, gender bias,
religious persecution, and ethnic profiling. According to the John Rawl s theory, inequalities in
allocation of a society s resources can be allowed only if it is in the best interest of the lowest earners
of the particular society (Rawls, 1999). The theory also prescribes that every individual in any ...

Nonetheless, social justice is possible under capitalism in today s society. Capitalism, under the tenet
of equality of opportunities which are determined by diversity, legal equality as well as learned
capabilities, seeks to promote social justice in the society. This tenet has been able to ensure that
capitalists do not foster prejudice and discrimination in the society. Consequently, members of the
society are able to fight for their rights and complain in case of lack of legal equality, and thus this

Social Media And Its Effect On Women
Positivity Is Beautiful In today s society it is being brought to the public s attention more often than
before that women deserve to be treated fairly. It is discussed on social media and has been viewed on
television advertisements. The feminine product seller, always, advertised a commercial. A director
named Lauren Greenfield asked girls if they have had some kind of setback when trying to accomplish
something because they were a girl. All of them said yes and explained their thoughts. Another
advertisement was by Levi jeans and singer/songwriter, Alicia Keys. The setting took place in
Brooklyn, New York and she was shown smiling and walking on the sidewalk, interacting with her
fans. Also, other women were dancing, and one girl was jumping for joy in the air. Her song 28
Thousand Days was also being played throughout the commercial. Although these two advertisements
are trying to sell a product, they are actually influencing women in a positive way. To begin with, both
of the advertisements give women confidence. In the always commercial, all of the girls didn t look
flashy, they were dressed casually, and had little or no makeup on. In a lot of advertisements women
are made to look stimulating, for instance, having a skinny body, a lot of makeup on, and dressed in
designer clothes, so when female viewers look at advertisements like that, their confidence starts to

Observing Double Displacement Reactions
Observing Double Displacement Reactions
Purpose:
The purpose of the lab is to determine and observe the different double displacement reactions that
occur when certain reactants are mixed. Double displacement reactions will be classified with the use
of indicators.
Introduction:
Chemical reactions occur very often in people s everyday lives. There are six main types of reaction.
These include decomposition reactions, synthesis reactions, single displacement reactions, double
displacement reactions, combustion reactions, and nuclear reactions. Both single and double
displacement reactions can be broken down into more specific reactions. Single displacement
reactions can be classified as metal displacement, which is cation; and halogen displacement, which is
anion. Double displacement reactions will break into three different situations: formation of a gas,
formation of a solid (precipitate), and neutralization.
The lab is focused on the observation of double displacement reactions, as opposed to the other five
types. Double displacement reaction consists of two compounds, both with anions and cations,
reacting with each other. During the reaction, the positive cations of each compound switch places
with each other, creating two completely new compounds. Double displacement reactions generally
occur when both of the reactants are in aqueous form, or in other words, dissolved in water. When
determining the states of the products in a double displacement reaction, it

Questions On Foreign Agents And International Property Owners
6. How to Find Foreign Realtors
How can you find some proper foreign realtors and contact them directly if as a property owner you
want to bypass your local realtors (or cannot find any with the foreign connections) and pay only the
foreign part of the real estate commission? Or are you just this local realtor or a developer and willing
to find a partner in sales in a foreign country to send you buyers? For that you have to go to the
foreign internet with the help of a bilingual person at your side and search there for advertisers of
properties for sale from your country or area or city to further ask them to become your business
partners. The foreign real estate agents who advertise international properties in the foreign internet or
print media (with online editions that you can see in the internet) are especially interesting to
international property owners, real estate agents and developers of many countries of the world in the
following two aspects:
1. These foreign agents already show their specific interest in selling properties from a particular
country that they advertise to their buyers, and as they obviously spend money on ads it means that
they are serious about working with this country, have expertise in this country real estate and can
advise their buyers accordingly;
2. They might already have some prospective foreign buyers for properties from this particular
country because of their recent ads. If you are a property owner or real

Comparing Sculpture and Painting in Roman Life
Introduction
When contemplating the art forms of sculpture and painting, in ancient Rome, one has to consider not
only how they differ in form but also how they differed in use. Although both art forms were used for
a sense of status, one is deeply rooted in realism and the other in fantasy. In order to compare these
two distinct art forms, I will first look at them individually and discuss their uses in Roman life, then I
will draw conclusions based on my findings.
Discussion
Following the Second Macedonian War, (200 197BCE), the influence of Greek sculpture was greatly
felt in Rome and many imitations of Greek brass sculptures were being reproduced in marble for
Roman patrons. The Greeks emulated the Egyptians in their pursuit of the ideal male physical form,
the kouros, or youth, often sculpted in the form of an athlete or a god. Roman sculpture evolved, with

after being buried for so many years. The paintings can be classified into distinct styles; the first style

style uses illusion to trick the eye; architectural forms such as columns and masonry, windows over

use of depth perception, and shadow, mythological scenes and fantastic animals seem to recede into

A Viable Future For The World
The idea of Sustainability is to promote the wellness of the world; it also aims to
construct a viable future for the world and to end poverty. These issues sparked a
common goal to end poverty and hunger and to achieve sustainable development in
three dimensions through economic growth, promoting the environment, and social
inclusion. (Kabukuru, 12.) The cracks quickly began to show, evidently through
examples all over the world, especially in Africa. The MDGs were unable to be met
apart from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) of Mauritius, Cape Verde and
Seychelles, together with a few mainland states like Rwanda, have quietly slipped into
the history and SDGs are the new vogue (K1abukuru.) The Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs) will serve as a focal point for governments to hinge their policies to end
poverty and hunger, ensure access to affordable and sustainable energy for all, build
resilient infrastructure, combat climate change and its impact, and promote rule law and
equal access to justice for all, amongst others. (New African Publications, 12)
Understanding the barriers that sub Saharan Africa faces can indicate what is necessary
to eliminate poverty, through simulation and multiple trials. The focus of this portion
will include examples of from sub Sahara Africa, who receives the largest proportions of
ODA, has the highest rate of malnourished people, and have high potential to influence
economic development.

figures in the United States. The controversial team name has been used since 1933, ever since
changing from its original name Boston Braves . It has sparked a nationwide outcry among the
remaining Native Americans who reside in the United States. Indians are forced to be reduced to
cartoon savages, ferocious warriors, and animal like heathens. After centuries of rampant dismissal,
removal, and destruction of this group, White Americans are still finding ways to subtly keep these
barriers in place which separates them. America s growing tolerance of racist stereotypes is disturbing.
The fact that many Americans do not realize that these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The slow yet brutal destruction of their population took place from 1492 1891. According to the legal
definition by the UN, this act is considered genocide which was perpetrated by both European
colonizers and the United States government. Tensions escalated and soon they were dehumanized to
the point where massacres such as Wounded Knee, hundreds of innocent Native Americans were
slaughtered by American soldiers. A significant precedent of the genocide was when White Americans
began making Indians the other . By viewing them as uncivilized creatures, it is easy to separate
oneself from a group so different. The use of Native American mascots is detrimental to young
American Indians and their psychological well being. When the mascot is constrained to a
stereotypical demeanor, it also constrains the way contemporary American Indians see themselves. In
mainstream media, Native Americans have little to no roles in movies, television, or music. The only
well known Indians in American culture are conventional characters created by large corporations
such as Disney s Pocahontas, Tonto from The Lone Ranger, and sports team s mascots. The few
representations of Native Americans are nationally broadcasted and provide misleading and immoral
assumptions on the targeted racial group. The select physical and behavior traits are then taken,
modified, and dramatized to ultimately create a character for entertainment and profit. The presence of

DEFINITION, SCOPE OF STUDY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE THEORY OF
ARCHITECTURE.
What is it thinking? Thinking is an activity we do naturally and spontaneously, each moment, every
day, all human beings around the world during our stay ephemeral passing on this earth.
The reality is something we can perceive with the senses, but the reality is something hidden that will
not perceive the senses.
To any reality we get a lot of questions: what, why, for whom is, by whom, etc.. We ask for things we
do not perceive the senses. For this explains intelligence, or at least try to explain, unwrap, discover
what is hidden.
So thinking is primarily answer questions or try to answer the questions that it is intelligence.

This agglomeration of experience and knowledge, albeit from an analysis of history, are to be shown
as part of the architect who takes a perspective of experience conversion in history theory. Therefore,
when designing, we remember those perspectives of what was the architecture in the past and we rely
on past experiences to forge a new conception of its own and sometimes completely break with this
past our quest to move away from this.
The theory of architecture as a necessity born of the architecture itself, not to be a new area of study.
In this sense the theory is integrated and condensed in a range of historical factors aimed at the reality
in which they arise. This pattern theory a strong relationship between thinking, designing and running,
allowing us to run what think through the design.
The theory applied wing Architecture architectural design involves a multitude of relations, the theory
considers the thought and experience, training and production, critical appraisal and generally
involves a review and reflection on the architecture and different times and for thinking so after a
thorough analysis and may result in a creation, a new architectural entity, conceived by its designer,

Essay On Cubes
Cubes Essay For the cubes essay I had to watch a video over four companies. Those companies that I
watched a cubes video over were MLB Network, ABC News Headquarters, The Huffington Post, and
New York Magazines. All four of these firms all have one thing in common with each other. That trait
that they all have in common is that there are all businesses devoted to spreading news to its audience.
I picked these four because I thought working at a place that spreads news would be a good suit for
me.However, even though all these businesses are devoted to spreading news they all spread different
news in different ways. Out of those four cubes videos I watched the one job that I would want to
work at the most is at MLB Network. One of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I could definitely see myself fitting into an environment like the one at MLB Network. Everything
about this job all traces back to baseball. No matter what job that you do there, wether it be providing
highlights, helping prepare shows, or providing statistics for the show. The other jobs I just don t know
if I could see myself fitting in enough. For example the job at ABC News just wouldn t be the fit for
me because it does not involve something that I am passionate about. Same as the Huffington Post it
involves news and I just don t know if that is the kind of environment for me. Same as the job at New
York Magazines, writing is not my strong suite so I wouldn t be that great working at a magazine
place. The workplace that would foster the most creativity with me is the job at MLB Network. This is
because sports are something that I am passionate and know a lot about. Any kind of work that
involves something you enjoy you are more likely to get involved in. Not only that, the job here would
make me more likely to foster creativity because I already know about the topic we are dealing with
which is baseball. Some of the other jobs might also be good for fostering creativity are the jobs at
ABC News, and at the Huffington Post. This is because both of those jobs involve news, and current
events. I also enjoy keeping up with the

Megan McArdle states During the time when people are supposed to be learning to face an often hard world as adults, and going through the often uncomfortable process of building their intellectual foundations, they are demanding to be sheltered from anything that might challenge their beliefs or recall unpleasant facts to their mind. If you are removed from anything that goes against your beliefs, then you won t be able to adapt to the really world. The real world is all about adapting and learning with many different people that are very different from you. JW Wilson, from the Advanced Learning Institute says in a quote Some parents and educators believe that a child is like a huge container. • 3. Summary Of How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents Julia Alvarez is a famous author from the Dominican Republic. She is most known for winning the PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles book award in 1991 for her novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents (Barth). Alvarez s Dominican background and her immigration to the United States influenced her writing, especially in the novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents. Alvarez was born in New York in 1950 but lived the first ten years of her life in the Dominican Republic. At the time, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina, a ruthless tyrant, held a dictatorship over the Dominican Republic (Barth). How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents takes place at the time of this dictatorship. Alvarez s father was involved in a plot to overthrow Rafael Trujillo and moved his family back to New York when it failed (Barth). This abrupt uprooting was a culture shock to Alvarez who was used to the traditional Dominican culture (Shuman). In her novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents, Alvarez describes the struggles that result when children are uprooted from their Dominican culture. How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents explores the complications four sisters face when trying to immerse themselves in American culture. This includes religion, language barriers, fitting in at American schools, physical appearance, and family dynamics. Alvarez writes about many of the same struggles she faced during her own cultural transition. In both Alvarez s and the Garcia sisters experience, learning the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Sentences By Bonaventure When one believes in God he naturally revealed to them through the goodness in his creation. By looking at the surrounding world one can see God s fingerprints. In his work, Sentences, Bonaventure modestly defines creation as as the loving outflow of a loving God whose infinite dynamic goodness is shared in a limited dynamic way. Creation is God s other. God doesn t have to create since God is infinitely bountiful and self communicative within Himself. Creation flows out of the infinite fountain of divine self diffusive goodness because God is creative and loving. The Father freely desires to create because God is love, and perfect love can never be self contained it must be shared. Bonaventure indicates that the world exists by virtue of the free creative power of divine love. Creation is a free act of divine goodness spilling forth from the infinite divine community of love. Bonaventure uses the term emanation to describe the expression of creation from the loving community of a triune God. Emanation used in the Christian sense means that creation flows out of the infinite, transcendent one. Bonaventure metaphorically writes, Creation is like a river, which flows from a spring, spreads throughout the land to purify and fructify it, and eventually flows back to its point of origin. This image speaks to the intimate connection between creation and the triune God as well as creation s cyclical nature. Bonaventure writes that creation can find its origin in a single ... Nature Of Human Tissue Specimens Within Museum Collections The specimen is relatively rare with regard to other gynaecological pathology specimens, and is relatively complete, although there have been some modifications made through time for the safety of the human tissue. The specimen is significant for the interpretive potential that it holds, however it is limited by the lack of documented provenance, given that some of the information obtained is anecdotal oral history and cannot be verified through documentation. This could also be achieved through a more ambitious events programme that could include publically bookable talks and activities. Concerns are often raised about the appropriateness of human specimens in a class environment. However, staff at the UCL Pathology Collection have found that children are not so much frightened or disturbed by the specimens in the collections, rather they are intrigued and wish to understand more about health issues and specimen collecting in the past. In this sense, pathology collections can be a key way of presenting health concerns through object study, away from a dependence on photography and diagrams in text books. Children in particular have been shown to respond well to learning through object handling. Specimens and objects relating to the history of medicine have been identified as having an almost unique ability to profoundly impact upon museum visitors (Arnold, 1999). In Psycho, Hitchcock uses both Marion and Lila as his final girls. Though both hold different characteristic traits, and one character dies early in the film, Hitchcock also has a male character save the final girl against the villain rather than having her face him alone. This differentiates against the film A Nightmare on Elm Street because Nancy finds her inner demons and faces Freddy Krueger alone in her dreams. She not only grows the strength to put her fears aside but she kills him with the satisfaction that he finally means nothing to her and that he is worthless. It is easy to see that the problem is the lack of unberstany of mental illness because we live in a society that does not help other when they do something wrong; we believe that they deserve what they get, and that shouldn t be the case. Flavours are generally added to foods to enhance palatability, replace flavour loss during processing and/or storage, and to impart added flavour to analogue foods. Hydrolysates of proteins generated by acid, enzymes or fermentation have a long history of use as taste enhancing and savoury flavouring materials in the food industry. Besides being important precursors in thermal process flavourings, protein hydrolysates are widely used in food products as flavouring ingredients in their own right. Traditional European cuisine often incorporates hydrolysates of soy, wheat, meat and fish for the preparation of soups and gravies, while fermented seasonings such as soy sauce, soybean paste and fish sauce are prevalent in East Asian cuisine (Neklyudov et al., 2000). Hydrolysed vegetable protein (HVP) is a savoury flavouring agent used to impart authentic bouillon like characteristics and round off the taste of culinary preparations and ready to cook products (Aaslyng et al., 1999). Studies show that about 40% of failures are due to lack of attention to uncertainties in the design phase and rest of failures depends on other factors such as production phase, operational condition, and etc. so considering uncertainties are unavoidable in the analysis and design of these systems. In general, uncertainties are divided into two groups: aleatory uncertainty and epistemic uncertainty. Aleatory uncertainty describes the interior and or environmental variations of physical systems. Epistemic uncertainty is due to inaccuracy in the modeling process because of lack of knowledge in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The decision maker can evaluate system performance and robustness by analyzing the Pareto frontier variations due to uncertainties. As well as, the designer can distinguish the favorable or high risk regions of design space. The robust design of structures is formulated as a multi criteria optimization problem wherein both mean value and the standard deviation of the objective function are minimized [4]. In this reference, the two criterion optimization problem is converted into single optimization problem and is solved by a gradient based optimization algorithm. Jaeger et al. [8] proposed a procedure for reliable and robust optimization of an aircraft at the conceptual design phase. The main advantage of this approach is that it permits designers to update uncertainties from the historical database at each step of optimization. To reduce the computational cost, response surface approximations are constructed by Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS). Jafarsalehi et al. [9] has implemented deterministic and nondeterministic approaches in the design of Remote Sensing Satellites (RSS) under uncertainty. In this reference, a composition of multidisciplinary design optimization and reliability based design optimization methods was introduced. MCS used for uncertainty modeling. • 23. Summary Of Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan Imagine being one of the best. Standing on a podium holding a trophy, yet coming home to parents who are disappointed because you stood 3rd place on that podium. This is how Waverley feels in the short story Rules of the Game by Amy Tan. Waverly lives with her mother, father, and two older brothers in an apartment in Chinatown, San Francisco. Waverly loves to run around in the bustling streets of her neighborhood smelling red beans and pastries being cooked nearby. One Christmas, the Jong family went to their nearby church for a Christmas party, and Waverly s brother got a chess set. This chess set sprouted a new hobby for Waverly, and soon after she played chess every day. Waverly became a chess star, with a mother who wanted nothing less than her daughter to be number one. Extreme tension built up from Mrs. Jong pressure, eventually leading the mother and daughter into a fight that could ruin their relationship. The way Mrs. Jong reacted to Waverly s talent is especially significant in Waverly s development. Sometimes when parents support their children too much it can stress them out, and parents can often forget that children are children and you must let them relax. Throughout Rules of the game , Mrs. Jong supports Waverly so much that Waverly feels as if she can t mess up, for it would disappoint her mother. This leads to Waverly feeling a lot of pressure and stress. Near the end of the story, before the fight, Waverly mentions a time she was trying to practice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Disadvantages Of Razor Blades Introduction Razor blades are a common topic in the world of consumers. They are available in many different variations and from many different brands. Differences in price are huge, often resulting in frustrations from consumers. In this thesis, I will try to explain differences between the brands by taking a closer look at the technical aspects of the available razor blades. Diamond like carbon is a class of amorphous carbon material which displays some typical properties of diamond. This material is often applied as coating to other materials so that it can benefit from some of the material properties of the DLC (diamond like carbon). It is known that one of the properties of a DLC is a high hardness, which, on the other hand, makes it difficult to bond the material to most metals. Some processes are known to tackle this problem, which we will discuss later. [1] Around the year 2000 more became known about the attractive properties of diamond like carbons and Gillette, the market leader of razor blades, saw its potential. Gillette patented the use of particular DLC s applied to the cutting edges of the razors. By that it improved the hardness, shave ability and corrosion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apparently consumers really seem to like the razor blades with DLC film applied to it, while Gillette is the global market leader with 70 percent in the grooming business. As a result, it becomes easy to achieve fairness and impartiality in dealing with political, economic and social issues. Therefore, social justice can be described as the promotion of a fair society by calling fighting injustices and also upholding diversity. This can be observed in a society where people exhibit common humanity and all have equal access to treatment, social services and equitable allocation of resources. This sort of society condemns discrimination in the strongest terms possible, there is no prejudice, gender bias, religious persecution, and ethnic profiling. It is discussed on social media and has been viewed on television advertisements. The feminine product seller, always, advertised a commercial. A director named Lauren Greenfield asked girls if they have had some kind of setback when trying to accomplish something because they were a girl. All of them said yes and explained their thoughts. Observing Double Displacement Reactions Observing Double Displacement Reactions Purpose: The purpose of the lab is to determine and observe the different double displacement reactions that occur when certain reactants are mixed. Double displacement reactions will be classified with the use of indicators. Introduction: Chemical reactions occur very often in people s everyday lives. There are six main types of reaction. These include decomposition reactions, synthesis reactions, single displacement reactions, double displacement reactions, combustion reactions, and nuclear reactions. Both single and double displacement reactions can be broken down into more specific reactions. Single displacement reactions can be classified as metal displacement, which is cation; and halogen displacement, which is anion. Double displacement reactions will break into three different situations: formation of a gas, formation of a solid (precipitate), and neutralization. The lab is focused on the observation of double displacement reactions, as opposed to the other five types. Double displacement reaction consists of two compounds, both with anions and cations, reacting with each other. During the reaction, the positive cations of each compound switch places with each other, creating two completely new compounds. Double displacement reactions generally occur when both of the reactants are in aqueous form, or in other words, dissolved in water. Or are you just this local realtor or a developer and willing to find a partner in sales in a foreign country to send you buyers? For that you have to go to the foreign internet with the help of a bilingual person at your side and search there for advertisers of properties for sale from your country or area or city to further ask them to become your business partners. The foreign real estate agents who advertise international properties in the foreign internet or print media (with online editions that you can see in the internet) are especially interesting to international property owners, real estate agents and developers of many countries of the world in the following two aspects: 1. These foreign agents already show their specific interest in selling properties from a particular country that they advertise to their buyers, and as they obviously spend money on ads it means that they are serious about working with this country, have expertise in this country real estate and can advise their buyers accordingly; 2. They might already have some prospective foreign buyers for properties from this particular country because of their recent ads. If you are a property owner or real ... Roman Life Research Paper Comparing Sculpture and Painting in Roman Life Introduction When contemplating the art forms of sculpture and painting, in ancient Rome, one has to consider not only how they differ in form but also how they differed in use. Although both art forms were used for a sense of status, one is deeply rooted in realism and the other in fantasy. In order to compare these two distinct art forms, I will first look at them individually and discuss their uses in Roman life, then I will draw conclusions based on my findings. Discussion Following the Second Macedonian War, (200 197BCE), the influence of Greek sculpture was greatly felt in Rome and many imitations of Greek brass sculptures were being reproduced in marble for Roman patrons.
